Meet Miss Earth - Alias Graham Hill, the Grand Prix race driver
The straits times, 4th December 1966
There was a roar of applause from the 400 guests at London's exclusive park lane hotel as the first contestants in the latest beauty contest - Miss Earth 1966 - entered the hallroom.
Swaying rhythmically to the background music, and dressed in a swim suit that left little to the imagination, the face of Grand Prix racing driver Peter Arundel went almost unrecognised under a mass of flowing hair.
It was all part of a fund-raising takeoff of the rash of beauty contests that have become so much a part of the London scene.
With all profits going to charity, contestants include ex-world champion Graham Hill, racing drivers Nick Brittan, Harry Stiller, Peter Gethin, ex-driver Les Leston and West Essex Car Club offical, John Trimble.
All were in fetching swimsuits and long wigs to carry the charade further, and the contestants started with them parading around the ballroom to jeers, cheers, shouts and hoots of the audience.
Next they paraded in line for the judges - rally driver Rosemary Smith, Nick Brittan's wife, Jenny, and West Essex Club Secretary's wife, Barbara Greenway.
The judge's work was made more difficult as the contestants began to douse one another with soda siphones. But eventually, Graham Hill was declared the winner and crowned Miss Earth by Rosemary Smith. He then posed triumphantly on the table booked for the honourable Gerald Lascelles, Royal racing fan.

Aside from my GoFundMe me, I have a very crucial need for money so I can get pads and tampons (remember I'm a trans male and I, unfortunately, still get my period). I also need a bit of money to supplement my EBT so I can get groceries.
Would anyone possibly have 40-50 dollars they can lend to assist? I super appreciate the assistance and show of compassion.
If you can help, please send to
[email protected] on PayPal. I'll delete this once I get the money. If you can assist with 5 or 10 please do. Once I reach 50, I'll delete this post and any reblogs on my blog.
Thank you so much. If you can't help financially, please reblog. Thank you!

I'm about to get real sappy fair warning. Sappiness ahead.
Anyway I just. Love. How often and WELL disabilities are protrayed in mcyt fanwork, especially Hermitcraft stuff. Like, for example, I normally hate superheroes because of how often the genre bulldozes out a character's disability by giving them powers. In fact I hesistated on interacting with superhero stuff in Hermitcraft for a long time because of the fact that it happens SO often in superhero movies and shows and stories and then usually hc superhero stuff involved Scar being hotguy, at least for right now - but. The way its done in fanwork here is excellent. GIHASM? One of my top ten HC fics. Kitsuneisi's Superhero Story? Absolutely incredible. Neither shy away from the fact that Scar is disabled. His disabilities become a part of his story instead.
Even outside of that, Scar's disabilities are embraced, sometimes turned to represent other forms of disabilities even. Sometimes he's wheelchair bound. Sometimes he uses a cane. Maybe he just has a limp, or something else going on - but. More often than not he's still disabled which is incredible to me. Everyone is so willing to incredible, research, and even extrapolate on disabilities in fanwork here.
And even outside of Scar! Disability headcanons are endless, disabled characters are everywhere in MCYT - Doc's prosthetics, Iskall's prosthetic eye, Ren's prosthetics from s8. The Life Series giving characters permanent disabilities. The Hels to Pay AU by lunarcrown and aquaquadrant, where Tango is recovering from torture in a way that reads, to me at least, as a metaphor for recovering from a temporary disability - it's everywhere. And it's wonderful.
This is not the first time I've said this but getting into Hermitcraft fanwork is the first time I've ever seen disability rep be everywhere. People are so willing to research how canes and wheelchairs work, or they're otherwise seeing themselves in characters and projecting that into their fanwork here - I've never been in a fandom before where people were so willing to see a character use a cane. ESPECIALLY one where people understand that disabilities are a spectrum, a range, of different attributes, and whats true for a character one day may not be true the next. Like, in Rift AU, Scar doesn't always need a cane, and no one bats an eye at this. I've been in fandom spaces before where even just having a character use a cane was frowned upon so this is just...huge for me.
Anyway this is all to say that I love seeing all the disability rep. Admittedly, I'm mostly into Hermitcraft and the life series, but I see it in other SMPs too - headcanons for characters from empires and dsmp and even Rats! That's just incredible to me. So, you know, from the bottom of my heart thank you for finally letting me see myself in a character in a way I haven't gotten to before.
