Hate that my form of hyperfixation is consuming and not creating.

I think I've been falling in love with ideas my whole life. I see colors and concepts and characters, and I want every part of the illusion to play around my body and immerse my mind and soul. I thought growing up I would be an artist. When that mentally shattered, I moved on to thinking I would become an author. Now, however, I don't know what or who I'll be. All I know is that my brain never stops coming up with ideas.

Yet, with all these ideas comes the possibility of creation. It's what I want, isn't it? I want to create these pictures and stories and share them with the world. So, why am I motionless in my pursuit to bring my mind to life? I have a library in my head. There's a girl in there. Her favorite color is blue. She doesn't know if life is worth living. I have an art museum there too. There's a portrait of a dying renegade, and a demon alter ego desiring joy. Then there's the realm of fandoms. The endless multiverse of continuations and alternatives.

There's a lot going on inside my brain and imagination. Chemicals I do not understand and signals I cannot control. An abundance of beauty only an individual can conjure with their subjectivity. With no outlet for these thoughts and images, I find it all to be too much at times. Wings heavy on my back and flightless under the pressure. The ability to soar is there, but the weight within is burdensome.

Every day I come up with something new. Some ideas are fresh while others are another line on the loom, but that is all they are. Thoughts. Ideas. Invisible whisps, webs, and wishes. It's as if the only part of my frontal lobe that works is that of imagination and complex thinking. I attempt short stories, painting, studying, chores, school projects, craft projects and I never get them done. Planning, time management, logical reasoning, and decision-making have all taken a backseat. I can't get any of them done, so I turn to what has already been done.

I rewatch a favorite show. I read another fanfic. I click on a YouTube video and another. I scroll Tumblr. I read character analysis. I try on the clothes in my closet. I add shit to my wish list. I post photos from two months ago on my Instagram. I relate to autistic ADHD tiktokers. I pretend Pinterest will help me get my life together. I think about the MCU. I watch another comfort, crime, haunted, mythical series. I visit my AO3 bookmarks. I doom scroll whatever app I can get my eyes on. I turn thirteen again and either spiral into a depressive state or become infatuated with the Hunger Games--again.

The point is, I can't force my brain to work on the original ideas. Sitting at a desk with supplies doesn't get my hands moving. I fall numb waiting for my body and mind to comply with my intentions. So, I end up here again. Hitting a heart button to let other people know that their commentary and hard work have reached me, and I liked it.

I don’t want all my ideas and universes to end where they are. I don’t want to minimize or invalidate my existence, or the experiences of others like me, by remaining artistically stagnant. I want my mind to be a visual tangible galaxy free to be roamed and explored. I want to have my heart in my hands, and I want to give it to every single person that I can. I want these thoughts, these precious ideas out of my head and into yours, dear reader. I don't want to consume; I want to create. If I'm going to go down the rabbit hole, I want to be the rabbit. The entrance maker. Not the lost girl I am right now.

Him blowing a kiss and giving you lots of cheesy winks and smirks throughout his quidditch game to make you laugh.

He calls you cute nicknames like Love, Pretty, Babe, or Lucky Charm (he calls you this because he believes that you bring him good luck in all aspects of his life but especially quidditch, he thinks you're a gem).

Likes when you call him Ollie, Darling, Champion, Sweets, or Babe.

His love language is probably physical touch, he's usually really tired and sore after Quidditch practices so all he wants is a good cuddle or some back/head scratches from you, and that's more than enough to keep him happy.

Wearing his Gryffindor Quidditch hoodie with his last name written on it because it's big, comfy, and smells like him.

He constantly reminds you that he misses you and that loves you so very much through little notes he gives you when he walks pass you in the hallways, despite him being busy with Quidditch.

You love his accent and do a really good impression of it that it never fails to make him laugh.

Him carrying you easily without a struggle to your bed upstairs every day after you've fallen asleep somewhere that isn't your room/bed.

Arm wrestles almost every day because you're convinced that you are much stronger than he is, even though he has proven you wrong on so many occasions by winning almost every time.

You still blush hard and make goo-goo eyes while watching Oliver work out to keep fit on the quidditch pitch grass area. Shirtless with only black shorts, white socks, and sneakers while sweat ran down his hard-rock abs and biceps.

He easily gets pissed off and annoyed if he hears his male teammates complimenting you too much or even staring at you for too long.

Sometimes he forgets how to genuinely breathe when he sees you wearing dressier clothing and letting your soft and fragrant hair down lose after it's been tied back from a ponytail, braids, or a messy bun.

Because he's the captain of his own house team his voice tends to sound demanding and empowering towards his teammates, but when it comes to you his voice softens to a more gentle, loving, and slower tone which you find adorable as you can tell the difference.

Him giving you a hug from the back and resting his chin on top of your head before shutting his eyes and relaxing or picking you up to sit on a table while he stands in between your legs giving you kisses.

Him obsessively going on about all the new broom models that the Quidditch equipment store has in store this season, so you try to save as much money as you could to afford the broom that he wanted, so you can give it to him for Christmas.

Going to the Quidditch World Cup with him and staying with his family in their magic tent was one of your two's favorite moments/memories together.

You both met each other because he accidentally threw a Quaffle on your head when he was passing it around, back and forth to Angelina in one of the Hogwarts courtyards while you're trying to walk past. He felt really bad and gasped before running to see if you were okay, and when he realized he hit a really pretty girl he apologize like 10x times before offering his last licorice wand to you out of his pocket which made you laugh and accept his apology, and the rest was history.

Trying to cheer him up and make him laugh when Gryffindor losses a match against another house, it takes time but he eventually smiles and laughs because of how cute you are.

Giving him a light slap on the shoulder to stop him from saying something or to scold him when he says the wrong thing/something very unhelpful.

Stories from Mouseton: characters!

Mickey Mouse

Journalist for a small newspaper. Kind, honest, erudite and modest.

While performing one of his work assignments, Mickey met Mooney, the daughter of now-deceased scientists. And after Mickey, Pluto and Mooney together saved the city from Professor Eagle, the journalist decided to adopt the girl. He became attached to her (and it was mutual).

Mickey may not be a perfect father, but he is trying to at least be just a good parent (good luck to him).

Facts about him:

- Mickey used to dream of becoming a pilot. He studied airplanes and collected various models, and in the end there were so many of them that not all of them fit on the shelves. But it was not possible to enter the flight academy - another candidate took the last place (and after the events of the pilot, Mickey sold part of his collection);

- he plays some musical instruments (mostly the harmonica);

- before getting a job as a journalist, Mickey worked at AJAX (that’s when Mickey got Pluto🥰);

- Mickey has a notebook in which he writes down all his work material (and investigative notes). This notebook is like a guidebook from DuckTales - there are a LOT of notes here.

Manon «Mooney» Round (now - Mouse).

The daughter of the now deceased scientists, Celestine and Ryder Rounds, Mickey's ward. Mooney is a brave, inquisitive and quick-witted girl.

Manon has a phenomenal memory and excellent knowledge of the exact sciences, which she always uses to justify her participation in investigations. And although Mickey tries to keep Mooney away from work, she still interferes. It may seem like Mooney is stubborn and all about adventure, but... In fact, she doesn't want anything to happen to Mickey and Pluto. Manon is confident that with her skills she will be able to save her new family (after all, they saved the city together once - so the little girl’s confidence is not unfounded).

Even though Mooney has fallen in love with Mickey, she's not ready to call him "Dad" just yet. She will need time to get used to her new family (and not only her dad, but also her aunt and cousins). So for now she calls Mickey by name.

Facts about her:

- full name is Manon Angelina Round and she is 9 years old;

- Manon received her nickname, Mooney, from her parents after she began observing the moon through a new telescope (it was a gift from her parents);

- Manon also came up with a nickname, but for Mickey - Mars. Mars, Pluto and Mooney;

- before Mickey adopted her, Manon had never interacted with other children. Her parents taught her at home, and in the orphanage Manon was not eager to communicate with anyone. So, her first friends will be her cousins - Morty and Ferdie;

- she often carries with her a backpack with wires, a couple of light tools, screws, coils - in general, everything from which she can assemble something (one might say that she has a whole electronic construction set there).

Pluto

The most loyal and dexterous dog in the world and an excellent bloodhound.

From the first meeting he treated Manon kindly, and when she became a member of their family, he was very happy. But Mooney herself is not yet accustomed to pets...

But they will get along very quickly.

Morty and Ferdie

Mickey's nephews, twins (Morty is 10 minutes older than Ferdie). The words “divide one brain cell into two” are about them. But despite their hooligan character, the boys are kind and friendly.

When Amelia told them that they had a new family member, the brothers thought that their mother had finally decided to take some kind of pet. But... It turned out that they were talking about a cousin. To say that the boys were surprised is to say nothing. However, they did not react negatively to Manon’s appearance - on the contrary, they liked her very quickly. She especially impressed the twins with her skills in robotics and programming. So now they will be giving Manon ideas for new devices.

The twins love to play football and baseball (and even go to their school's sports club). But if Morty is a calmer player, then Ferdie... Often goes ahead, thereby destroying his brother’s strategies and tactics.

Since their father works as an archaeologist and they rarely see each other in person, Morty and Ferdie are always waiting for him to call them or send them a package. The relationship between father and sons is very good.

So I just suddenly got a flashback of a story I started working on in Freshman year of high school. It was in notebooks upon notebooks!

It was a secret Area 51 run team. And they were basically social workers for supernatural beings. I remember it was gonna be like a crime novel about rookie case worker, Angelina (Angel), and her veteran case worker, Alistor, who was very tired with the job. And they were gonna be helping out a werewolf pack that had settled into a small town. That was currently having issues with like the local vampire family. I don’t remember it all really well.

But that’s why I think I’m so excited about this new WIP of yours! Because it reminded me of them and now I’m excited to hear even more about it!

I honestly fucking cannot wait to post this fic

It is one of the few fics I've been genuinely like bouncing off the walls excited about.

College Freshman Chapter 4

Chapter 4 of a daily rom-com series.

College Freshman

“The independent variable is the one that changes. Not what you’re used to, right? And that dependent variable relies on the independent variable. So you never really know what you’re going to get unless you know the experiment,” the professor said.

Angelina was taking notes and listening carefully. You could tell by her notebook alone, but you could see she was focused. Not even Thomas could stop her.

“This class is so boring!” Molly whispered from behind.

“Pay attention,” Angie said. “It might be boring, but it’s important to know.”

“Aren’t you an overachiever?”

“Focus. I need you when we study.”

“You’re not studying with your boyfriend?”

“Not my boyfriend.”

“Oh come on,” Molly smiled. “You should ask to do that”

“Nope. We’re studying.”

“I won’t need to study if you two are.”

“Molly. Lecture.”

“Boring.”

Angie moved her hair back behind her ear and was thinking now. She needed to know this information, but now she couldn’t focus! She put her head in her book.

“The dependent variable–the DV as we’ll call it–depends on the IV. The independent variable. That’s how you should remember it. These variables could be anything, but I’m asking you to find which one is which,” the professor said. “Next class, when I test you, you should be able to see an experiment and label the variables as is. It won’t be hard if you remember.”

“If Thomas is the IV, then you’re the DV,” Molly whispered.

“Buzz off!” Angie said back.

“Next class I will test you on everything we’ve learned. You do have a weekend to prepare, but I want you to know how to use everything inside and out,” the professor said. “Like I said–I will test for it. But that’s it for now! Go out and enjoy your time this weekend, and don’t forget to study hard–I will see you all soon.”

Everyone started leaving and Angie gave Molly the stink eye. Molly just laughed and she pretended to be angrier than she was, for fun. She was packing everything in her bag when a boy stopped in front of her instead of going out like everyone else.

“Angelina," the boy said.

She almost froze up when she saw who it was. Angie was not expecting him. It was Thomas. She brushed her hair back and spoke a little nervously.

“Thomas!” Angelina said.

“You live on campus, right?” Thomas asked.

“Yep!”

“So you’re not going home for the weekend?”

“I’m not,” she smiled. Where was he going with this? She brushed her hair back instinctively.

“That’s great,” he said. “Do you want to study for the test?”

“Together?”

“Is that okay?”

“T-totally okay. That would be fun–and good.”

“Are you free Sunday?”

“I am.”

“7PM?”

“That works for me.”

“Great. Awesome. Then I’ll see you at 7,” he said and started to walk away.

“Where?” Angelina asked.

“You’re right,” he turned around. “I totally forgot.”

“It’s a good thing I asked.”

“It is,” he smiled. She couldn’t help but move her hair back again. There was nothing to be moved. “One of the study rooms on the fourth floor of Legacy Hall? It should be open.”

“Okay then, I’ll meet up with you there.”

“Okay then, Sunday.”

“Sunday!”

He waved and she waved back and he left the room. Molly was giggling from her seat. She watched everything.

“Don’t get me started with your boyfriend!” Molly said.

“Not my boyfriend.” Angie said.

“You should’ve got his number.”

“I should have?”

“Duh, he’s your boyfriend.”

“Not my boyfriend.”

“Totally is.”

“I didn’t even think about that.”

“That’s the only thing I could think about!”

“How would I even bring that up?”

“How would you bring up studying together?”

“I was not ready for that.”

“Look at him go, that IV.”

“He is not an independent variable.”

“And you, little DV.”

“I am not a dependent variable.”

“Sure seems that way.”

“Am not.”

“That was smooth from him too. He’s so into you!”

“You think so?”

“I know so. I saw so.”

“I hope so.”

“That would be your dream, wouldn’t it.”

“We’re gonna be late for biology.”

“I don’t even mind.”

They both laughed and headed out the door. It was the longest she’s ever looked at the door, that’s for sure. She couldn’t help it. Angie was in fairy tale land. Well–she already was.

Hello! I hope you're well! I was wondering if you happen to have any recs for contemporary small town/rural based romances (in any country). I know this is a massive genre, so I was hoping you could cherrypick some good ones. My only caveat is that I'd prefer neither of the MCs to be police officers or in the military.

So I will say, my problem as the recommender here is that I have a hard time with small town romances. It's not that I hate all of them, but it is hard for me to find many I enjoy. So my recs will be limited, but I have a few. No cops/military in these, as I do not read books with that involved if I can avoid it.

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn. Kate writes very heartfelt, romantic romantic contemporaries. In this one, the heroine's job as a personal assistant to a celebrity ends and she goes home to a small town in Virginia. She finds this notebook she kept as a tween of all the things she wanted to do as a young adult, and decides to try to accomplish them with the help of this rough around the edges guy, who's actually the brother of her adolescent dream boy.

The Dive Bar trilogy by Kylie Scott. I don't think this one is super rural, but I definitely got small town vibes. It's basically a set of books focused around a dive bar, and it begins with the first heroine dipping on her wedding day after being sent a video of her groom hooking up with his best man. It's not my favorite set of books by Kylie ever, but they're cute and cozy and very small town homey.

End of Story by Kylie Scott is one I liked a good bit more. I don't remember exactly where it's set, but it does kick off with the heroine inheriting a fixer upper house right after getting dumped, so it has that sense. Her ex's friend turns out to be the contractor she hired, and at first they're like "shit" but the end up working together... only to find, in the walls of the house, a divorce decree dated ten years in the future with their names on it??? It's not heavy on the supernatural, there's just a bit of a magical vibe added to what is really a contemporary.

It Seemed Like A Good Idea at the Time by Kylie Scott. This one is set in Australia (where Kylie is from, I think) and I think it's in a somewhat rural area? Of all the books I've recommended by her in thiks post, this is my favorite. The heroine is coming back for her father's wedding at 25, and the reason why she was basically banished is because, at 18, she misread some signals and tried to seduce her father's close friend and business partner (who's 15 years her senior) and her dad walked in on her like, straddling this man with her top off, lol. This guy is understandably a bit bugged that she almost ruined that friendship (and he really did not engage, so it makes sense) but now that she's back and older/more mature, the vibes are THICK.

Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan gave me small town vibes, and it's set surrounding this tight-knit friend group, with the backdrop of the hero and heroine owning a restaurant together and trying to convince this family to sell them this other restaurant so they can kind of reno/restore/preserve it. Buuut it's also pretty emotionally intense, if incredibly well-written. The hero and heroine are actually divorced parents, who were in love since a young age but split after their third child was stillborn. They have an amicable co-parenting relationship, but as he begins to move on, they start to realize that they never actually fell out of love (or lust). Superbly angsty, and Kennedy is just an incredible writer.

After Hours on Milagro Street by Angelina M. Lopez. This one definitely is heavy on the community presence. The heroine is a well-known, very combative bartender who's returned home to try to revamp her grandmother's bar. But the tenant above the bar, this intellectual professor guy, opposes her on it. They end up having to work together, despite their issues (and despite them having sex pretty much immediately upon meeting before she decides to hate his ass lol).

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy. If you're ready for some pre-holiday holiday vibes (or want to put this away for the season) I loved this book. It literally takes place in an area that exists to be filmed for Hallmark-style Christmas movies. The heroine is a plus size porn star who wants to break into mainstream acting, and after the star of this TV Christmas movie has to back out at the last minute, she gets the lead. Her costar is this former boy bander who's known for a massive scandal in which he apparently fucked a figure skater at the Olympics and ruined her chance for gold (IT'S HONESTLY HILARIOUS) and he alsooooo immediately recognizes the heroine because he's a biiiig fan of her on what is essentially OnlyFans. I LOVE THE "I LOVE UR WORK AS A PORN STAR" SETUP. EVERY TIME. Anyway, he can't even begin to contain his boner as they're filming, it's hot, the tension is thick, everyone is queer, I love it.
