Guys I just saw the Animal movie trailer and. Fuck. The FEELS. The need for validation. The desperate wish to please your father. The regret in Anil Kapoor. Bobby's tears in his blood streaked face. Hot Bobby. Ranbir's bloodlust. Rashmika loving a man who doesn't love her the same way. The toxicity.
Bollywood is exploring morally corrupt characters as protagonists and I'm here for it
Update: I saw the movie and it could have been so much better bhaisahab. If only there wasn't that cheating angle, and if they didn't show that Ranvijay married someone— the plot without any romantic subplots or side characters would have been much, much better. And the worst thing is that Vanga wanted to make a dark, violent movie and he fucking missed the mark. Insulting women≠ dark. It's tasteless. Depth and nuances hai hi nahi characters me, Jo hone chahiye the. Movie should have focused more on the relationship between Ranvijay and Balbir, rather than only Ranvijay and his "alpha" ass. If you want a toxic relationship to be the focus, it's the only thing that you should pull the focus on

unfortunately i have seen pretty much all of animal through the reels on my instagram explore page so i have one thing to say - STOP. GLORIFYING. CHEATING. i do not give a flying FUCK that you don’t like rashmika mandanna, or that tripti dimri and ranbir kapoor have “better chemistry,” i really don’t. fact of the matter is vijay (ranbir) abused geetanjali (rashmika) and cheated on her with zoya (tripti), and instead of portraying it like the toxic act that it is, sandeep reddy vanga once again chose to glamorize and romanticize that toxicity under the umbrella of “sab kuch papa ke liye kiya, this is what true love is.” believe or not, NO, you actually DON’T have to hurt someone to show that you love them. and of course the movie takes no time in making things worse when vijay says that if he leaves, geetanjali isn’t allowed to remarry, or when she asks him how he’d feel if she cheated and asked for forgiveness to which he angrily responds that it’s unacceptable, as if he has any sort of standing to hand out those kinds of orders after the shit he pulled 🙄
this reeks of double standards and a lack of accountability and it reminds me of something kangana ranaut said in an interview way back when (back at a time when she actually made sense oop) about how there’s nothing wrong with exploring dark subjects in cinema, but the condition is that they have to be portrayed authentically and that means showing the consequences of those actions as well. in real life there are consequences to cheating, consequences to domestic violence, consequences to a lack of self control and anger issues. and if you make the choice to explore these sensitive topics you have taken on the social responsibility to show it as is. you cannot glorify it. cinema is a highly powerful and influential form of media, especially in india, a country where actors and films are worshipped like a religion, and it’s truly beyond me how sandeep reddy vanga has deluded himself and his audience into thinking that he doesn’t have that responsibility at all. then again what else can i expect from a director who thinks that love isn’t real if there’s no violence and you can’t “slap your woman or touch your woman whenever you want” 🤡

How does it feel to be openly misogynistic in the name of creator's freedom, Vanga?

That Animal movie just made me feel that there is no place for a woman's identity in a man's world. You can only be defined in relation to a man. A wife, a mother, a father's wife, a brother's wife, a mistress, a girlfriend, a sister...but a woman as an individual? You don't matter. You're someone's bhabhi? Fine. Bhabhi 2 comes along? Fine too. The bhabhi doesn't matter. She only exists as an extension of the bhai. If a woman fights against being a "good wife" too much like Geetanjali did, she will be easily replaced by another bhabhi called Zoya, who is ready to lick the bhai's boot to express her love and devotion for the bhai.

Jazbaat: A Fiery Tale of Love and Desire
Please be aware that this fanfiction contains scenes of violence and explores mature themes. Reader discretion is advised.
Author's Note: I want to clarify that my fanfiction based on the movie "Animal" is purely a work of fiction and is not meant to endorse or justify any actions or behaviours depicted in the film. I do not support or agree with the characters' actions or attitudes portrayed in the film. My intention is solely to explore the characters and scenarios from the movie in a different light and to see how much more depth and complexity I can bring to them through my writing. Thank you for understanding.
Please note that I do not own any characters from the original movie Animal. The only characters that belong to me are the original characters (OC) created for this fanfiction.
(Preview)
‘Let me go,’ she whispered to him, gritting her teeth. Her heart started to break at what she was experiencing right now and by whom.
With rapid breaths, he shook his head and tightened his hold on her. In his mind, he was already planning ways to keep her close to him and only him; all these years, he had ached for the one thing, which was her. And no way in hell would he let her go now, after all these times.
‘You can’t seriously do this to me.’ A tear fell on her face as she tried to remove herself from the person she loved. Right now, all she could see was the obsessive, possessive person, not the man she fell in love with.
With his big hands, he took her chin and forced her to see his eyes, which spoke all the words his mouth couldn’t do, but it still didn’t change her mind.
She is not supposed to stay here and doesn’t want to now. Whatever feelings they had for each other don’t matter now.
‘You are married, Abrar. Not once but thrice, and you can’t possibly have me either! I am not some side-chick you could have as a trophy to showcase, and I will never be yours.’  She spat the very well-known facts with disgust on her face.
‘Not yours. Not yours, ' Abrar kept, hearing those words that left Aparna's mouth. As his eyes turned red with anger, his hands tightened around her chin, causing her breathing to become rapid.
‘I am yours Abrar. We are one soul and will always be.’ Abrar remembered their promise and her words when they were both young. And it doesn’t matter how the present is; all he knows is that she is his as much as hers.
She is the flower that makes his morning bloom.
She is the sky that covers him as a blanket.
She is the hunger that keeps his animal alive.
She is Aparna to his Abrar.
The first Installment of the series will be live on "17/03/2024"

Most of the time films mirror society and not the other way round.
Films are a reflection of what is happening in the society and captures only a part of it. Films do leave a lasting impact on our mind but what someone goes through during their childhood can stay with them forever. Only they can understand what they go through because of such incidents. And sometimes there is no one to understand them. This kind of trauma can kill them from the inside and make them something they are not.
We as a society always like to see the final outcome and give judgements based on the action but we never try to understand where someone is coming from. We don’t give a damn to see things from someone else’s perspective. Society at large neglects things that require more attention like childhood traumas, mental health issues and depression.
Of course some people don’t deserve our empathy and compassion however in the macro picture we as a society are moving too fast and some parents hardly give quality time to their kids. This is the biggest problem with this generation of families. They neglect the basic things and chase superficial things.
A younger generation deprived of love, care and understanding may lose their track in this rat race and might feel that there is no one they can trust or speak their heart out to. There is too much noise in the world and access to too much information while kids only need time with their families, just time. They need someone who can hold their vulnerable side and tell them that everything is going to be okay and also give them a basic understanding of what’s right and wrong. Kids most of time just need that direction and guidance and the feeling that someone is always there with them and that they are proud of them.
We as a society can declare a film as misogynistic which is okay because we have to point that out. However, we forget to take the other things in to consideration like lack of parenting, lack of love, childhood traumas etc. But we only pick the thing that is easy to point out and speak or bash over social media. We as a society of human beings and individuals have to show maturity and start talking about the hard things too. We have to come as a society and fix the little things right from the early stages of a child’s growth. We have to take care of them, not quarrel in front of them or expose them to domestic violence. We have to rather show them how to love and educate them about every trivial thing there is.
Also the fact is that films cannot be released directly into the theatres. They have to get an approval. They are given a rating and certification which tells which section of people may watch it. And when it is mentioned as violent and offensive then the audience who can’t watch it or gets easily triggered shouldn’t go and watch it. And if there is an issue with the national board then we should also call that out.
From filmmaking stand point this film, Animal is a brilliant masterpiece, a work of art. I’m so glad that Indian films are finally progressing in terms of cinematography, performances, production and overall execution. It’s truly grand and also entertaining at the same time. More importantly it’s unapologetic. (You can have your own opinion, free world.) If you have watched the films of Quintin Tarantino then you will know what I’m talking about. Of course there is a difference in the portrayal but hopefully we are getting there.
This doesn’t mean that the film doesn’t have its flaws. It does come with its own shortcomings like any film does. The issue with this film is that the makers tried to glorify violence and misogyny. They should try to keep it real. In the past too many films have come out which showed the justification of mass killings and portrayal of an anti hero story arc. I think directors and screenwriters should learn from this. They should put their mind in to this and show something for what it is and not glorify it.
But when we talk about the problems with a film we should also talk about problems that exist in the real world. This film has probably shown only 10% of the violence than what is actually going on in our society everyday - rapes, gang rapes, children being abused and women being molested, domestic violence, brutal killings by their own partners, acid attacks, road side murders, mass murders, an actual genocide happening, a whole country being wiped out by another… i can just keep going. Animal is nothing compared to the level of toxicity and violence that exists in the everyday world, in the news and in social media. The real world has gotten much more worse. It’s filled with terror and is very unsafe, specially for women.
If we have so much time to talk about a film then why not a minute to talk about all the real incidents happening around the world? Innocent families and children are being slaughtered everyday like animals.
When will we talk about the actual events happening? What are we waiting for?
Let’s talk about the real problems and things that are wrong in our society, in the real world and not wait for it to happen with our own family.

Ahhh i did something hugee today!!! Though its not that big but am very proud of myself (its not something to be proud of too)
I really wanted to watch animal but knowing my parents will not agree to go to theatre i downloaded and watched tha pirated version. I loved that film and seeing all those Instagram posts gave me fomo of the theatre experience. Yesterday me and my frnd devised a plan and decided to go without informing our parents. Both of us lied the same thing. We told our parents that we have a project submission tmr and we have lot of work to do so we'd have to meet at each others house. But considering the runtime of the film we can't go in the evening. So we told that the other person is going to a wedding in the evening so we'd have to meet in the afternoon. I put my savings for the ticket and booked for an afternoon show.
But we had another problem. The show starts at 2:30 and our school will be done by 1:30. Though we missed the starting a bit it was worth it. We managed to come back home without them knowing anything.
I have never done something like this before and it makes me feel so good i just wanted to share it.
I can make a whole other post about the movie

I have never seen the movie "Animal" but I just saw one scene where Ranbir asks Geetanjali that she could forgive him for murders but not for cheating?? Like?? Is this the real plot? How? Are directors okay? Wattpad writers are much better than this.
And as in the bookish plot, it's okay to mvrder but we draw the line at cheating.
