Even post-reveal, there will be anxieties left
@naffeclipse Hi sorry I've neglected the boys in the hurt/comfort, I've come to deliver <3 So normal about all of them being so so touch-starved, and how Sun/Moon may hold back (to their own detriment) in fear of scaring their little hunter once they all know (about Y/N's history, about Sun/Moon's identity)

So many memories…
{————————————————————————————————}
First panel:
5 year old krey: Momma! What’s that?
Mother: that’s a crow my dear..
Second panel:
10 year old Krey:…… mommy and daddy will wake up..right?
Third panel:
15 year old krey: look. Nuke stop being a brat, it’s already night. We have to head back home. And no we’re not going to the café.
Fourth panel:
25 year old Krey:……… *writing stuff on the paper,in the dark*
Fifth panel:
35 year old Krey: you’ll pay for what you did to my parents, 25 years ago..
{————————————————————————————————}
OK so here’s the lore for Krey:
shes from the lost temple faction, since shes a professional hitwoman. Tho she’s only known as a hitwoman in the criminal world. Most people/phighters don’t know that she’s a dangerous hitwoman. Including banhammer.
she and zuka are old friends, the two have had ups and downs, lots of arguments and such with eachother not being the best terms with each other tho the two are nemesis’s, they have each others backs, and secrets
Zuka was also the one who saved her when she was 25, and brought her to the hospital to be treated when she left the blackrock faction, in her scientist lab coat, also with her right eye having a severe burn scar that looks like a star, and her eye very irritated and red, where she had to have her right eye removed due to how severe the burn was.
In the past, when subspace ripped medkits eye out, and which made medkit leave blackrock and to join the lost temple faction. then four months later, subspace, would burn krey’s right eye with a flammable liquid that he made, and used Krey as a test-subject for it, giving it a star-like burn scar, tho it was severe, it lead her to leave, go to a hospital, and have her right eye being removed.
when both medkit and Krey left subspace, and black rock, moving to lost temple, Krey had started doing some hitwomen business, while doing so, on her fifth day of doing the job, she had wounded her left arm, by one of the targets she was supposed to kill, by a gun tho she killed the target, and had gotten her share of money, tho she fainted due to the blood loss and was at the hospital once again, to get her left arm removed because of the bullet that struck the bone of where her shoulder joint was, which needed to be removed. And that meant her losing an arm. once she got discharged from the hospital after a few weeks, and went to a close friend of hers to get a prosthetic arm, with claws to replace her left arm and hand.
A not so phun phact: due to Krey seeing the dead bodies of her parents, Krey thought they where asleep and playing a prank, hoping they would wake up. Since she’s a child she started to cry, like any child would. In the morning, Krey would be covered in her parents blood, (as she let the maids know what happened) not allowing her younger brother nuke, to go downstairs. As the maids of the mansion had already called the police, but the police couldn’t find who did it. And so Krey promised to herself to give her parents revenge. As the two siblings would be taken in by their grandparents, who would take care of the siblings and mansion, until they died.
Phacts about krey: as Krey got older, when she was 35, she and Vinestaff would meet by a phighting match, which led to Krey talking to Vinestaff about her trauma and vent to. Once Krey got used to Vinestaff ofcourse. Vinestaff would comfort krey, and trying to act as a caring friend, and helping her get through her trauma along with helping with her mental health. Krey and Vinestaff would become very close together almost like best friends.
More phacts a about krey: when Krey was growing up, she had a lot of friends back then. But when her parents died, her life did a complete 180, where most of her friends would move somewhere else, hang out with other friends and forgetting about her etc... so Krey would lose a lot of friends in her life. The only person she trusted was her younger brother nuke.. tho Krey didn’t vent to nuke and didn’t tell him what happened when their parents died. She only told nuke that their parents have went somewhere else and are being taken care of by their grandparents. Keeping nuke in the dark.
More phacts about Krey: krey would find the killer who killed her parents, all her hard work paid off. As when she left the blackrock faction and moving to the lost temple faction, where she would start doing hitwoman business, she would hunt down the killer, using other criminals to direct her to the killer. Whilst killing innocent people to maintain her business and have bux.
How Krey got into hitwoman business after moving to the lost temple faction, was that, when Krey was young, her grandfather (the grandparents who where taking care of the siblings) taught her how to fight along with killing. Just to protect nuke. (Since the grandfather used to be a hit man)
if your gonna ask Krey to kill someone, she’ll charge you 5k-10k bux.
Krey loves hard Caramel candy
Nuke left krey when he was 17, when Krey was with the blackrock faction
(she moved to the blackrock faction even tho she was from lost temple)
Bruh my anatomy sucks
(Krey is now my main oc/ phighting sona)

Arwena's JiB 12 experiences
The Jensen-Misha panel
Warning: This post is going to be both Misha critical and Misha positive, but most of all written by a J2 fan, so if you don’t want to read either, don’t read this post.
I was debating with myself whether to post this at all. I had it sitting in my drafts for a week now. While this is Misha positive, it is also biased, I know that. There is criticism on his past behavoiur. And I don't want to stir up any hate. Yet it is a part of my JiB experience, and I wanted to post all of those. So here it goes:
To be honest, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to that panel. The last Jensen-Misha panel we got at JiB 2019 was downright painful to watch. I did, though. I watched the whole panel, because there were so much heated arguments about this panel going around, and I wanted to built my own informed opinion, rather than getting it second hand from out of context posts. (Reminder: it was the panel where Jensen lost it and shouted “Destiel is real? Where? Where is it real?” and Misha at some point sat on Jensen who was lying on the floor and tried to “kiss” him. The one where Jared came in way early to Jensen’s rescue, and there was also this very sweet moment, half hidden behind a giant unicorn, where Jared was tucked under Jensen’s arm and looked up at him.)
Then there was one short incident on Saturday morning at JiB 12 that also didn’t seem promising for the panel. It was a very short moment, and I have not seen any videos of it so far, so maybe no one even filmed it. It was the end of Jensen’s panel, and Misha was on right after. I was sitting with a good view to the left hand steps up to the stage, the steps Misha had to take. Jensen was saying his goodbyes on stage and was walking towards the steps, but facing the audience. Misha was getting up the steps, aiming for Jensen, who, still not seeing Misha, still facing the audience, changed his path a little towards the front of the stage. Misha corrected his course, but was now really awkwardly not getting straight onto the stage but was almost out of room to get to Jensen to intercept him. Jensen still didn’t see him coming, so Misha turned him around with both hands and pulled him into a hug. It was just a short hug, but it was so awkward, because it was so unnatural. Not two people who see each other and sort of both signal to hug each other. (You know, like you do, how social interactions work.) It was so intentional from Misha’s side, not a spur of the moment at all, which was quite apparent. And it took Jensen completely by surprise.
So for obvious reasons I was prepared for the worst regarding the Jensen and Misha panel. I think I would have left the panel room if it had escalated like this, because I did not want my so far amazing JiB experience to end on a bad note. Especially since there would be no Jared to come in for the rescue and the panel would be slightly longer. (For those not familiar with JiB scedule: On sunday evening there is a Jensen-Misha panel that Jared is supposed to join after 30 minutes for a 15 Minute J2M panel that then is joined by the rest of the guests for the closing of JiB.)
But let me tell you: the panel was a pleasant surprise from start to finish! I genuinely enjoyed it!
If Misha acted like this all the time, I would be a much bigger fan of him!
The panel started with Jensen and Misha sitting with, if I remember correctly, a chair between them. It didn’t seem awkward, it just felt natural.
Both of them started talking and joking. I can’t remember in detail what was being said, but I had fun listening to them. There were a lot of “that’s what she said” jokes. And Jensen told a few dad jokes. (“Did you hear? They are not making 12 inch rulers any longer.”) They kept talking and joking, spinning the wheel. At some point Misha threw some rings (one of these childrens games where you have to throw the ring on a small pole) and Jensen assisted him by throwing the rings to Misha. Misha managed two hits in a row, then asked Jensen to do it too. Jensen declined and Misha didn’t push.
All this went on and on while people were standing in line to ask questions. Finally Jensen asked “Should we take questions?”, and they joked about that, but still didn’t take any questions. Neither of them. For another few minutes. By that time I had a feeling as if they were avoiding questions. But that is merely my feeling, not fact! Fact is though, that they took the first question after around 15 minutes into the panel!
The fan asked: “Misha, you wrote a poetry book. And Jensen you are being creative with your music. Do you two ever talk about your artistic projects with each other? Like your writing and your lyrics.” Something along those lines.
And Misha just said: “No!”
Silence. Jensen and Misha both sitting on their chairs, neither saying anything more. By this time Jensen has his head lowered, facing his lap, and obviously starts laughing, while Misha says to the fan “thank you for being so patient”, turns to the other side and says “next”. Jensen is almost cry laughing, then he lifts his microphone to his mouth, still laughing, and says:
“It’s funny because it’s true.”
He goes on: “This is such a simplistic answer! We have never collaborated, nor do we wish to.”
But then they do get into the question a bit more describing this hypothetical scenario:
Misha: “I imagine me showing up at your trailer, being like ‘Jensen I want to show you this’”, and then miming Jensen shutting the door into his face.
Jensen is laughing more and more and stands up to mime while he’s talking: “The trailer has steps, so Misha would be essentially standing at foot level, and he’d be ‘hey Jensen, I’m having a hard time with this line…” and then he mimes kicking him off the trailer with his foot.
Misha turns back to the fan: “That’s how it would go. So we don’t collaborate.”
Note: both were having fun answering that, and both sounded honest. Obviously, Jensen would not kick Misha. But they had fun painting this hypothetical picture.
The next fan asks something about Jensen going viral on tiktok with the Soldier Boy Blondie video. Misha has to ask what that is. He says he isn’t caught up yet on the boys. The fan explains that it is extra content for The Boy’s that actually isn’t aired in the show. Jensen says they did a lot of these and then adds: “I just did another one.” Smirkety smirk. (Jensen was smirking. I was cheering with joy.)
They then somehow go on talking about Kansas and Carry On My Wayward Son, and Jensen is like: “Yes, and I got to direct a Kansas concert!” Misha is like: “Really?” He genuinely didn’t know about Kansas being in a Walker episode singing Carry on. So Jensen tells that story in detail. He talks about how he tried to insert himself in a shot without the actors knowing beforehand. The cameras were on Jared and Odette Annable, and when the shot was done, he signaled the camera operator to keep rolling. He stepped into the frame and looked a Jared who knew immediately what Jensen was up to. He looks at Jensen like ‘What? Who’s this?’.
Jensen mimes all this, but Misha isn’t getting where he wants to go with this. He says in Jared’s voice: “You’re not in my show!” As if Jared’s face was confused for Jensen being in front of the camera.
Jensen corrects him. “No! And this is… see this is how good… like Jared just immediately knew that there was a pit going on.” (Whether he meant “...how good Jared and I work together” or “...how good Jared is”, or whatever, it’s so sweet!) Jensen then acts out his part. Like ‘Do I know this guy?’ But Odette, who was in the shot too, didn’t get the memo and was like ‘Oh, hi Jensen’. If that weren’t the case, there would be a nice little Winchester easter egg in that episode. Let’s just hope it will be in the gag reel!
Instead of taking another question now, they spin the wheel and drink something. Jensen tells another joke. “Of all the inventions of the past 200 years, I think the dry erase board is the most remarkable.”
Misha jokes about Jensen's jokes being embarrassing.
Jensen: “Listen! Jared wrote those jokes! He sent them to me!” He then smiles softly and says “When in doubt, blame Jared”. Lol. (I’m writing this here, because I have seen this statement taken out of context. Both to hate on Jensen and on Jared. In fact, it was a very sweet friendship moment. Jared sending Jensen jokes. Jensen, who usually isn’t telling jokes like these (that’s more Jareds resort), still telling them all in Jared’s absence. And the “when in doubt blame Jared” really was just loving, joking banter.)
After almost 30 minutes they finally take a third question. I didn’t completely understand it, but the gist of it is: “Did you talk about your new roles with each other?”
Misha: “No!”
Silence. People laughing. Seriously, it’s basically the same as the first question. Do you talk about your work? No.
Jensen: “There is very little creative collaboration outside of when it has to be necessary.” (Sounded serious, sorry, IMO it wasn’t even said in a joking tone.)
Misha: (joking) “We avoid it at all costs.”
Jensen: (now jokingly too) “All costs!”
That’s when Misha started putting his hand on Jensen’s shoulder, while Jensen kept answering. They go on joking about not taking creative ideas for The Winchesters from any cast member, and how they where making fun of that in the green room.
Jensen: “I kid. I don’t know -” Misha puts his hand on Jensen’s shoulder again and Jensen asks, looking shortly down at the hand (in a jokingly angry tone?) “WHAT?”
That was a short moment when I thought “uh oh”. But they took the turn and went on just as cool and relaxed as before, no one crossing any lines. Misha talks about how he called Jensen about his role in Gotham Knights, and asking for his advice on whether he should take it. Jensen then explains that the relationship that Misha or any of the other cast and he have is not necessarily about creativity, because everyone has their own talent and …. That’s when he is interrupted by Carry On playing and the rest of the cast coming up on stage. Which leads to Jensen speaking the words of Carry On while Rob is singing the parts. An amazing performance, completely spontaneous.
I feel like Misha got a very serious talk after the last panel and acted accordingly. Friendly, funny, not crossing any lines. If every Misha panel where like that,I would watch them all. (I also had a positive autograph experience whith him, but that will be a seperate post.)
Also, one thing they made crystal clear in that panel was: they do talk, but not all that often. And they don’t follow each other's lives all that closely. I mean, Misha didn’t even know about Jensen directing Kansas in a Walker episode. So Misha has neither watched Walker, nor has he followed Jensen’s IG, because I’m pretty sure he posted about that, nor any news regarding that on Twitter. Which is not a bad thing, just a fact. Their relationship is the same as with any other cast member. Friendly, friends, loose contact. Except for Jared. Jared sends Jensen dad jokes. And Jensen passes them on. That could be called creative input. :-)
For those interested, here’s the link to the panel part one. I can recommend the watch.

Okay so I don't have much knowledge on 616 gwen Stacy and I've only read a few issues of the spider gwen run... but I can speak on the itsv/astv gwen Stacy.
And even though I'm kinda neutral on her character (it takes a lot to get me interested into a yt woman character nowadays)
I do like how the atsv writers are avoiding making the whole "death of gwen stacy" thing a huge plot point.
Like I'm aware that there are like references to that infamous moment in the films. There's her falling dramatically in the first film at the collider fight and in the 2nd film when they're in mumbahattan. There's the line she tells miles about how "spiderman and gwen stacy don't end well in other universes". In the 2nd film there's a small scene where a bunch of au peter parkers say "hi" to her and she says "hi" back.
But other than that it's not really mentioned and brought up as much and gwen is allowed to feel like her own character outside of that moment. And I like that bc if they did make it a major plot point it would feel awkward and remind the audience of the fridging and take away what makes her so interesting.
Bc I remember seeing a comic panel and it was spider-gwen and 616 peter parker and she was like "I wasn't able to save peter" and peter was like "I wasn't able to save my gwen" and then they agreed to like protect each other from now own.
And I know that it's supposed to sound sweet and whatever but it just reads as awkward to me bc if I remember correctly spider gwen in the comics is like 19 and peter is like late 20s/early 30s. And on one hand I do get that grief is a powerful thing and he did love his gwen stacy but like... he should have moved on at this point. And it doesn't help that like spider gwen is the same age as 616 gwen when she died (I think?).
Like idk its so weird. And I remember when itsv came out and the scene of peter b seeing rip Peter's mj at the party and him just blabbing on and gwen is like "I've been there buddy you gotta move on" about her seeing another peter after hers died.
And ppl online were saying "oh well why doesn't peter mention the fact that he's seeing an au version of his gwen that died?"
And it annoyed me and reminded me of that comic panel again except this time it's worse bc itsv peter is like 40 and itsv gwen is like 15.... like y'all don't think it would be weird for a grown ass man to tell a teenage girl that she reminds him of his dead gf??
Anyways this just turned into me rambling and sorry if it doesn't make any sense but yeah tldr: atsv bringing up the death of gwen stacy is a good thing and would be weird and I wish the fanboys would stop wanting it to be talked about every 10 seconds.

LO RANT:
Alright, today I was going to do an appreciation post for Thanatos’ old design and personality, but when I went to go find some panels of him I came across a few things that irked the hell out of me. Y’all remember that one episode where Hades was showing Persephone around and she said that she was a fury and everything? Almost KISSING might I add. If you remember that I’m glad, and if you don’t it’s okay I’ve got pictures.
One thing I hate about Persephone’s character design and I mean hate with a passion of a thousand fucking suns is how the comic just completely makes her look like a damn innocent child. I can’t post the pictures with the text because I’m still a little fresh with it so I’ll actually have to do two rants.
Tumblr media
Oh nevermind I figured it out. Go me! But anyways, look at the damn panel above the text. Persephone does not look like a damn adult in this panel at all, if I showed a random person that I’m sure they’d think she was fucking 15 year old or something! I have no idea why Rachel thought making her small as hell, big eyed, childish, AND emotional was even a good combination! Those are literally traits of a child, and before anyone even opens their mouths to say that “well adults can be like that too!” I KNOW, I’m aware of that but you at least can tell that they’re adults! You don’t even know with this panel.
Also look at the panel below this text. The proportions are so wonky and off. It makes Persephone look so fucking child-like and just REALLY little. I know the same can be said for Meg, but at the same time we don’t know much about Meg and her age. We know that Persephone is supposed to be “an adult” and I just have no idea why Rachel wants her to resemble a child and wants her to be just so naive and impressionable. Hmm, maybe because she’s only 19 and barely even a an adult. Then she’s sheltered too so she could literally be taken advantage of at any given moment. Why did she do all of this? Why can’t Persephone be at least a little mature? She’s supposed to be smart! She’s supposed to be talented and everything, why does Rachel chose not to allow Persephone to truly grow up.
This is also bringing us to my next point. This isn’t the first time that Rachel drew Persephone with childlike features and a curvy body to sexualize. It’s just very uncomfortable to me. And also, I hate how this comic infantilizes her. I know that’s supposed to be the theme of this comic, “grow into your identity” or “prove them wrong” and such, and I would be fine with this if there was actually some development with that. We don’t see Persephone talk back to anyone who infantilizes her and calls her a child, we don’t see her get frustrated with being called that, we don’t see her want to dress herself or anything. We continuously see Persephone being fine with being treated like a child and be handed things. We don’t see her grow tired of it or her wanting to be independent she’s just fine with all of it. So we can’t even say she doesn’t want to be seen as a child because nothing in the comic even says that!
Anyways, this is the end of the first rant although I’m sure (if i’m not passionate about it) that the next rant will be shorter. Like I always say I’m completely and utterly biased so don’t take any of this as fact, and if you enjoy Lore Olympus this is not to shame you in any way, I’m just saying my thoughts and feelings. If you agree, then great! And if you don’t then that’s also great.

Tumblr media
When Mori had sent his protégé to lead a RAID on an underground facility of former government scientists that owed them a hefty debt & was being uncooperative, he had certainly not expected Dazai to return sans the twenty armed men the boy had taken with him. They were all dead, apparently. The scientist who had attempted to take Dazai hostage during the situation was killed almost immediately, & when one of the mafioso pushed Dazai behind him out of shooting range, he’d accidentally shoved the young prodigy into a CONTROL PANEL, one which had set an alarm off through the building.
The scientists had panicked, asking him what he had DONE, ordering him to close it before  ❛ it ❜  escaped.
IT turned out to be a boy roughly the same age as Dazai, 14 or 15, though his paleness, skinny frame & short stature could have allowed him to pass for easily two years younger than that, his features would have been childish if he didn’t seem so cold & robotic. The sound of SCREAMING & glass shattering had been heard all throughout the facility as a storm tore through the building, guns & blood spraying, computers & laboratory equipment upending as a powerful force swept through it like a hurricane. By the time it went quiet, everybody but the two of them were DEAD. Scientists ripped apart at the waist as though cut clean in half, mafioso with their bullets having turned around & slammed into their heads, their chests. It was a BLOODBATH, & it had happened in approximately ten seconds after the experiment was released from his pod.
Tumblr media
Mori took in the child standing by Dazai with unconcealed curiosity. Long, reddish-orange hair fell passed his shoulders in waves as though he’d never seen a haircut before, piercing azure eyes stared back at him with a blank expression. So this was what that facility had been working on, hm? A gravity manipulating, highly dangerous child assassin that moved faster than the wind. From what he understood, the only reason Dazai had been SPARED in the slaughter was because ‘No. 258′ was under the assumption that, as the one to release him from his Containment Pod, Dazai had to be his new handler. The bloodlust that had prompted him to slay twenty heavily armed mafioso & eleven scientists in a matter of moments had disappeared.
            FASCINATING.
❝ Hm, I DID request that you bring back any valuable assets you could find, I suppose. Well done! Not much of a talker though, is he? ❞  he observed, & the experiment stiffened but did not reply.  ❝ I’m sure we’ll recover whatever we need to know from those computer hard drives, if they can be salvaged. In the meantime... I suppose I’ll leave him in your capable hands, Dazai-kun.❞  Mori placed his chin on his hand with a pensive look.  ❝ It would be a waste not to try putting his skillset to use. Consider yourself a mentor now, Dazai... I hear boys your age often wish to own a PET for the first time, do they not? ❞  he smiled, & the tone of his voice left no room for argument.  ❝ I expect a full detailed report of the incident on my desk by tomorrow. You are dismissed. ❞
No. 258′s gaze shifted to Dazai, expectantly; he had not left his side since they’d met, hovering silently behind him like a dark guardian angel.

Gather round, as I describe to you what 25,000 Watt speakers, five feet in front of me, feel like.
Yes, feel like.
Once speakers reach 25kW, you are no longer listening; you are feeling.
(TL:DR Spoiler: five seconds is enough for me)
So I work at a local radio station, and on this particular day, we were remote broadcasting from an outdoor sale that a local audio-electronics store was having. One of the features at this sale was a mini-bus that was brought to demonstrate some BIG speakers. The point being that you would go into this bus, and they would play you music as it is supposed to be heard; loud. Our host kept commenting on air about how he wasn’t really near the bus, but could feel it shaking the ground around him.
So, me being an audiophile, I had to try it out.
After we were done the broadcast, the bus was still there for another couple hours, so I went over and asked for a demonstration. The guy was pretty eager.
I asked him how powerful the speakers inside the bus were.
“They are rated at twenty-five-thousand watts”, he said.
Now, at the time, I had no context for this number. I’ve never really invested time into looking into the power ratings of speakers. After this experience though, I looked up high-end car speakers. I found some that needed a separate amplifier from the one that usually comes stock in cars, and they were rated at 10-15W. The highest number I saw in discussion about car speakers was 35W, but that didn’t have specific speakers attributed to that value. The speakers in this bus were a little less that 1,000 times more powerful than those speakers.
Anyway, now that a little perspective has been gained, back to the mini-bus.
So this guy brings me to the bus, and I can hear some music thumping inside, and it’s loud enough that I assume someone is in there currently demoing (there were no windows to see inside). Well, the guy slides open the door (it was a mini-van style door), and I see no one in the bus.
Now, the inside of this mini-bus.
On the front side of the bus, behind the drivers seat, is a bench seat. It wouldn’t have been out of place in the back of an old muscle car. Resting on the seat is a few sets of ear protection. The seat is facing, towards the back of the bus, a wall of speaker cones. I did not count how many cones there were, but I would estimate around 15 or 20. Most of them were about 10″ cones, I’d say the smallest ones were 2-3″. The inside surfaces of the bus are all covered in your typical sound-containing panels. There are a few string LED lights highlighting the edges of the panels.
Now, the guy hands me some ear protection, and indicates an interface on the side of the bench seat. Right to left, there were eight buttons labeled “Show 1″ through “Show 8″, a usb port, and a great big red button labeled “Panic”. He explains that once I’m in there, I need to push the button labeled “Show 1″, and once I’m done, push the big red button.
Alright, no big deal.
It is somewhat important to point out at this point that while this conversation has been going on, the speakers have been playing music the whole time. It’s not too loud; the guy and I only have to raise our voices slightly to be heard over the music, but it is definitely in the volume range of I-wouldn’t-want-to-stand-near-this-for-too-long-without-protection. I figured that this was about as loud as the music would get.
So, I’m now in the mini-bus.
I’m staring the wall of speakers right in the eyes. The guy is closing the door. He needs to make sure that the show is running before he can fully close the door. I push the button. The music that was playing immediately cuts out and a musical rise begins, the strips of LEDs begin to flash lots of colors, and all this lasts just long enough for him to close the door.
Then the bass drops.
The first thing I was aware of was the larger speaker cones jumping out about an inch or two towards me. A large smile crosses my face. This, I think to myself, is bass. In fact, I notice that that’s about all I hear. I’m not sure if what I’m listening to is an actual song or just a demonstration of how powerful the system is at the lower frequencies.
The next thing I become aware of is the ear-protection vibrating against my head. It was the over-ear earmuff kind. Where it touched my head, it was massively shaking. I don’t dwell on this too long, as I then notice...
...My whole body is shaking. The entirety. Typically when I say that the music is loud enough that I can feel it, I mean I feel a deep vibration within my chest. This was more than that. This was my entire body vibrating with the jumps and falls and percussive hits of the music that was hitting me.
I then notice the back of my throat, specifically. The vibrations there were different. While it would be obvious to say that some of the vibrations I was feeling in the back of my throat were my actual flesh vibrating, I figured out later that I was feeling the air in my throat vibrating, creating the effect that wind does against damp skin.
At this point, I questioned if I could still breath properly. I don’t remember consciously taking a breath at that point, because I immediately realized that I was feeling dizzy. For me personally, this is a pretty major warning sign that I need to stop whatever I am doing and make sure my heart is still beating (explanation available on request).
I dove for that panic button. I was done. Thankfully, the music stopped immediately. A deep and thankfully quieter voice came on to tell me “You’ve just experienced the sound chamber”. The operator opened the door. I hopped out, quickly, and all I could verbalize to the guy was “Too much!”
As soon as I was out of the bus, I realized I was okay. A little shaky, but okay. Of course, in the moment it felt like I was in the bus for an eternity. In reality, it was probably around five seconds. I hung around a bit while I tried to stop being too shaky to drive, which didn’t take long. I drove home, a twenty minute drive for me, and once I was in the silence of my house, I realized that despite the ear-protection, my ears were still ringing like I would expect them to after a concert without ear protection.
That was a damn loud bus.
Now for you the reader, if you too are an audiophile like me, and if you hear about a mini-bus in your area with super loud speakers, I think you should at least stand outside it while a demo goes on inside, and maybe give it a try. It’s up to you, really. For me, personally, five seconds was enough.

Anime Central 2023, Day Three (Sun)
Sunday kicked off with an early morning wakeup in order to snag a working elevator and get all of our gear to the car. Well, there was one elevator, and we were able to snag it. So, victory - I shudder to think what it was like for other attendees later in the morning.
As awful as getting up early on Sunday can be, it’s worth it to not wait 15 minutes to squeeze into an elevator full of other people and their bags. We finished loading the car by 0730 and so were also able to grab breakfast before things got too busy there as well.
But it really is a sad state of affairs when you realize that being inside an elevator feels like a novelty for the weekend.
Tumblr media
I also need to give props to Embassy Suites staff for their patience and assistance when I went racing back from the con center to the front desk to request to be let back into the room we had checked out of because I’d forgotten a prop.
Tumblr media
Yep, I’d forgotten my headphones for cosplaying Cecil. Thankfully, getting back into the room wasn’t an issue and that was the very last time I had to climb the Embassy stairs for four flights that weekend.
Our first event of the day for the con was the panel “10 Good Animes Under 20 Episodes.” As the panelist went through the list, I realized that I’d seen a few of the titles, though never in full. Specifically, Paranoia Agent, Midori Days, and Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto. FLCL I’ve seen now a couple of times. I do have an interest in checking out the other titles at some point.
Tumblr media
The panelist liked to offer trivia questions at various points during the panel, and @lechevaliermalfet answered one of the questions correctly. He is now a certified weeb.
Tumblr media
After this panel, we went to another Helen McCarthy panel: Cyberpunk: Peach John – Outlier or Omen? The Disruptive Power of A.I. in the Manga Industry. As I’m sure anyone reading this is aware, artistic work utilizing A.I. is under very close scrutiny and the implications are hotly debated. Given how in-depth McCarthy was able to go on the topic, I was very shocked to learn she had thrown it together in just under three months. And I think she handled the issue fairly even-handedly, explaining both how creators using A.I. can still feel they have truly made art of their own, why traditional artists feel slighted, and routes forward that the industry might take with regards to A.I. If she repeats this panel at other conventions, I highly recommend it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had time to kill after until our next panel. See, originally, after the snafu about the History of Cosplay panel Saturday night, it was supposed to occur at 12 on Sunday. Well, we noticed a slight problem in Guidebook – Grffin Burns was supposed to hosting a Genshin Impact panel in the exact same room, at the exact same time, that Helen McCarthy would allegedly be doing her History of Cosplay panel. Yeah. They’d borked it up again. We spoke to a few different staffers before being informed that Guidebook was in error again and that the panel we wanted to attend would actually be taking place at 2pm.
Ok, cool. That meant we had a decent amount of time to go back through the dealer area. Check on the finished chalk art, finally get some Wild Bill’s soda, etc.
Tumblr media
I hopped in line for the Crunchyroll booth to try my hand at the free claw machines. And of course, trailers for current Crunchyroll new releases were airing inside the booth so that we had something to watch while we stood in line. It moved at a pretty decent pace, but I think I was probably still in that line for 25 minutes or so. Sadly I didn’t win anything during my turn. I did see others winning and I do think it was a cool way for Crunchyroll to engage with attendees. They were also running a contest online to win a free year of Crunchyroll, so I tried for that as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to hit up the Nobody is Cosplaying From My Fandom shoot at 1pm, but was a little late because of having been in the Crunchyroll booth. But I still had a lot of fun and got to hop in on a few photos. I really love this concept and I hope it grows to be something that’s done regularly not just at ACen but at other cons as well. Don’t get me wrong – photoshoots for specific fandoms are a great way to connect over a shared love. But the Nobody is Cosplaying From My Fandom shoot meant the opportunity to talk to other attendees about properties that aren’t as familiar and to see cosplay that usually gets lost in the sea of people dressed as the popular stuff.
Tumblr media
After the shoot, it was finally time for the actual History of Cosplay panel with Helen McCarthy – no more scheduling snafus. Now, you might expect the panel to start with the beginning of cosplay at conventions…but McCarthy goes further back than that. All the way back to the days when passion plays were super popular (beyond just Christmas/Easter, which is when most of us in the West are probably familiar with them). Passion plays and ritual costuming then led to more traditional theater, pageantry, and costumed balls. And at costumed balls, people might mimic historical figures or popular characters of literature and comics of the time. In turn, this led to fan costuming at science fiction events. And from there, into cosplay as the phenomenon we know it as today. I think even if you might disagree with McCarthy about the roots of cosplay being buried in passion plays and the like, it’s still a fascinating walk through history and fashion in its own right.  I would recommend attending it, but McCarthy hinted that she may be retiring the panel soon and turn to writing about the subject instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We left the panel and caught a bit of an impromptu dance session going on in the entrance hall of the Stephens Center. We then went to @artbyquinton‘s booth to say goodbye and to pick up some of his new prints. And once that was done, ACen was over for us.
Oh! And just like during previous ACen weekends, Sunday was a Pokemon Go community day - this time for Fennekin. So, naturally, I was also playing the game while we were doing our final con stuff.
Tumblr media
All in all, it was a good year. Sure, maybe I wasn’t prepared to have leg day each day that weekend, and there were some things that I’ll definitely be noting on the feedback form as needing improvement. But I still had a lot of fun and feel that I got my money’s worth, and that’s what matters. I’m looking forward to hopefully being at ACen 2024.

random m1 macbook things:
you can make the menu bar continue to display itself in the free area beside the notch when you fullscreen content. it's both incredibly convenient (now you have access to control center and every menu bar app ever) and sort of immersion-breaking. well that can be good too; maybe seeing the time reminds you to stop watching youtube and go do something you're supposed to be doing.
Tumblr media
be careful not to pinch yourself in the hinge if you like to hold your laptop with your hand there, that thing is sharp
it trackpad too big for it got damn keyboard. if you j/k scroll, the side of your palm may be on the trackpad, but just barely, which presumably makes brushing motions that the palm rejection thinks might be intentional, which can interrupt scroll actions.
mini LED is not a panacea; as with all displays that use full array local dimming, anything small and white on a black background will have obvious haloing, and if the thing moves (mouse cursor on anything black; white UI elements) you'll notice where the actual LEDs are. fullscreen a discord call with the other user's video in portrait and you'll see what I mean. I would actually really like a mode that turns off the FALD or only turns it on when it detects HDR content; it's not like it helps with contrast on things like text. (honestly, being Apple, they could totally detect which regions of the screen are video and only activate local dimming in them. that would be super cool.) honestly, I think this display is interesting to compare to the roughly-similar panels Apple has been using ever since the 2012 rMBP (well, since the iPhone 4 really), insofar as it actually feels less refined. Apple does a great job hiding all of the complexity of a modern high-end display, something that the Windows PC ecosystem does not even attempt let alone succeed at, but the weird edge cases still shine through. I wonder how many years until the first OLED Macbook Pro.
I always thought universal binaries (x86 and arm code in the same .app file) were silly and a waste of disk space, but the one time you care is when you run migration assistant between an x86 mac and an apple silicon mac; since Edge for example uses separate packages, it becomes unopenable once moved to the device that it's the wrong package for. downloading the right one and replacing it does work, it seems, and in the case of Edge you do keep your data (although when I had to do the same thing for Ungoogled Chromium it lost the actual browser settings; the user data like history and open tabs came over fine though).
the ability to charge from the right side can be very nice. it'll be limited to 100w if you have a 5A-certified USB-C cable (they have a chip inside), otherwise it'll be limited to 60w. totally fine still unless you have a drained battery or are doing some soft of intense graphics workload. the fact that my chintzy little cable that's supposed to be for an android phone can charge a laptop at a reasonable clip feels kind of weird.
I have said my piece about this IRL but the fact that you can plug in/out external monitors and change the scaling of your display and it's just instant is so, chef's kiss
I have Macs Fan Control installed to see when the fans spin up. they have been at 0 RPM ever since I got the laptop
honestly the speakers could use less bass, at least when you aren't using the laptop on a table. it sounds a little hollow; I bet the apple audio engineers did most of their optimization with the user seated at a desk, not half-upside-down in bed or whatever. I guess stereotypically that would be the userbase for the rumored soon-upcoming 15" M2 Macbook Air, not the rather workstation-y pro models. (see also: my comment about the hinge.)
it's definitely not the same keyboard; the press action on these is sharper and louder than the pre-butterfly ones. feels nice but I wish it was quieter.
also, not specific to the mac, but automatic wireless shared clipboard that includes copied files is absolutely nuts. also the fact that migration assistant grabs stuff like the history of my terminal windows is just. yeah you don't get stuff like this on windows
(except window arranging. and like 3-4 other things that microsoft does correctly and apple utterly neglects for no apparent reason. but, you know, besides those.)
(also the new macos settings panel that they stole off the ipad is so buggy it counts as a legitimate achievement lmao. good job)

Is the YETI Hopper M20 the Soft-Sided Cooler You've Been Searching For?
Tumblr media
I get why YETI includes the amount of cans you can fit in a cooler to help describe its volume, but I can’t really envision a scenario in which I tote an 18 pack of beers, soda, canned wine, what have you, in a backpack. I can however envision plenty of scenarios in which I tote a couple plastic containers of food, a few canned beverages, and some fruit for family sustenance on a day hike. Probably harder to market a backpack cooler that way, though, I suppose. But that’s what I’ve mostly used the YETI M20 Hopper for in the six months or so I’ve had it. The family’s headed out for a day of exploring our local trails? The M20 becomes the food/drinks tote. Or, maybe we’re headed on a multi-hour road trip—the M20 gets loaded with snacks and drinks and becomes the in-car fridge. I’ve ridden my bike with it on my back to pick up oysters while overnighting in Bodega Bay, and ferried five big honkin’ Dungeness crabs with it on a 15-mile round trip gravel bike ride from my house to a nearby farm stand. It’s versatile, is what I’m saying. Doesn’t smell like fish inside, either (I know you’re wondering). It’s also, by far, the best portable, soft-sided cooler I’ve ever used. The thing feels as bulletproof as its larger, hard-sided cousins. It’s waterproof, and little-wave proof, as I discovered once when I dropped it in the ocean on a beach day to see what it would do (it floated, mostly). It uses a magnetic closure system that is smart and reliable, though hard to trust at first. That’s why I tossed it into the brine; wanted to see if that closing system would let water in. It did not. It almost seems like magic. You bring the two lips of the pack together and…snap, the magnets click them into place and hold firm. It’s a little tricky to open and keep open with one hand, so you often need to hold it open with one hand and load it with the other. A very small gripe. There are two rows of daisy chain loops on the outside of the pack you can for clipping on bottle openers, water bottles, knives, even oyster shuckers. When loaded to the brim it’s fairly heavy, so I really appreciate the small handles sewn into the top to help lug the pack around. The back panel is a soft but firm foam that remains comfy against your back regardless of load weight. I do wish it had chest straps to keep it from swaying when riding a bike, but I can’t imagine YETI envisioned that many people riding bikes with this on, so I get why they’re omitted. As with any YETI product, the thing most people will wonder about is the price. Well, it’s $325. That’s…alot. (Though you can find the purple color way on sale for $270). But for that you are getting a truly versatile cooler that can probably withstand the blast from a nuclear bomb. Whether or not you need that is up to you. But it’s sure nice to use. • BUY: $325 Credit : Source link Read the full article

So, I haven't read any Cass stuff (I will, I promise!) but with my tenuous understanding of her origin story in mind, I wanted to take a closer look at this exchange from a Death in the Family.
Jason has reason to believe that Shiva Woosan could be his biological mother. Batman helps him track her down, and interrogate her:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shiva didn't know what this was all about, and to be fair, that was an unexpected direction for this line of questioning to go in, but I'd like to posit something here: Look at her face. Look at her eyes. That's a lot of expression from someone as well trained and thoroughly guarded as Lady Shiva.
I wouldn't expect the world's deadliest assassin to react that strongly unless.... she has had a baby. One that no one was supposed to know about. One that she's been trying to forget for 15 years. How does she cover up this little slip? Deflect with some good old fashioned sarcasm:
Tumblr media
Which prompts Batman to do something drastic:
Tumblr media
"That's the biggest trouble with this line of work--" he tells us on the next page. "You can't always get the job done, and remain a hero in your own eyes." That line resonates so strikingly with Jason's story later on, but this isn't about Jason.... it's about Cass... maybe.
Batman asks her again, "Have you ever had any children?"
Tumblr media
So if we're going by comic book logic here, this truth serum is 100% effective, and Lady Shiva is not Jason's (or anyone else's) mother. The trail has run cold and it's onto the next one.
On the other hand, if we take a more realistic approach, we could say that Sodium Pentothal is a fast acting barbiturate that weakens the subject's resolve and decreases inhibitions. Under it's effect, Shiva would be more compliant, and who knows? She might even tell the truth; however, this drug is not just a truth serum.
By perusing the wikipedia page, you can see that this drug has also been used by psychiatrists to desensitize patients and to "facilitate the recall of painful repressed memories." Memories like leaving your baby to be raised by a madman as a weapon.
What if those weren't just incoherent groans in that second panel? Maybe it was closer to something like "...Cugh... eh...neh...". What if, before regaining control, she started to say "Cain"?
I don't think Shiva was saying "no, I've never had any children." I think she was saying "no, I don't want to remember."
So I fixed it. Cassandra Cain existed in 1988, no retcon necessary. (Did this scene get addressed at all when we discovered who Cass’ mom was? Let me know!)

Hello! I am a huge fan of ur writing. I've loved everything I've read of yours. I've read alot of what you've posted, except for a couple of the tags that are squicky for me (so I'm very thankful you tag very thoroughly). No judgement for the squick, it's just not for me. & when I'm having a bad day, I usually just go thru ur ao3 and find something to reread. I think about Therapy's Bruce & Jason every damn day. While I obvs appreciate ur darker more "problematic" content (I really vibe with some of the themes you write about bc of my own trauma, & so it's very cathartic to read about in a fictional setting), I am truly a sucker for ur more happy content. The Happily Ever After verse also lives in my head rent free. Idk more wholesome stuff just seems more special when you write it. Anyways. I would die for you. But the point of this ask is cause I'm curious as to why you don't like Urban Legends? I'm sorry if you already talked about it here or on twitter and I missed it. I was just wondering because I really enjoy your take on things and would love to hear why you dislike it. I've been enjoying it so far personally, but I am always open to DC comics criticism.
Aw thank you so much! I'm so flattered by everything you just said. You're so sweet ❤❤❤❤❤
I haven't talked about Urban Legends here or twitter (I haven't been very active in either place lately. Just a lot going on and no energy 😔) but I'm happy to do it here.
Before I start though, I just want to add a standard disclaimer and make it clear that if you like it, there's nothing wrong with that and you don't have to let me ruin it for you lol. Like what you like.
That said, since you asked...
I said this when I was talking about it on discord, that there is a difference between hope and expectation. I always hope that a new story centered on Jason (or anyone really, but things have been especially egregious for Jay for 15 years) will be good or at least treat the character with a minimal level of respect (to be honest, the bar is super fucking low). But my expectations always temper my hope, to keep it from getting unrealistic. Because my expectations are based on experience.
The long history of Jason Todd, since even before his resurrection, has been one of retroactively trying to make him "a bad seed" in order to absolve Bruce of any responsibility in his death.
I don't even expect DC or their writers to start honoring the fact that Jason was not an angry, reckless Robin (and less of the later than Dick or Tim and definitely Damian). There plenty of ways that retcon can be folded into his history and be compelling and sympathetic. And if they're going to stick with that retcon, I'm only asking that they do it in one of those compelling and sympathetic ways because Jason was 15 when he died, heroically, in one of the most selfless acts in comics, to save a woman who literally handed him over to be brutally murdered. He was 12 when Bruce plucked him off the streets, he'd been homeless and fending for himself for at least two years. I personally think that Jason's story hits harder for him and Bruce if their original, canon relationship, of Jason as starry-eyed and eager to learn and absolutely devoted to Bruce and Bruce to Jason, is preserved. But Jason's origins does leave room for a meaningful interpretation of him as angry and frustrated at the lack of meaningful results of Bruce's methods.
And that's really where my irritation at stories like Batman: Urban Legends, Cheer and Batman The Adventure Continues has it's roots.
Every time one of these stories comes out, I think (or hope, rather) that this will be the one that remembers and respects the origins of the Jason and the Red Hood, that takes into account the changed sensibilities of comics readers in the 30 years since Jason's death and the subtle, 20 year, retroactive campaign to make him the "bad Robin". The "born bad" trope is played out and literally no one likes the message it implies. That some kids are just bad eggs and there's nothing parents or the adults around them can do. Especially when it's played as the kid's fault. If Jason's time as Robin is going to be characterized by anger, then it should be rooted in anger at the social injustices he witnessed as he grew up in an impoverished, crime-ridden, area and the horrors he faced raising himself when every day was a battle for survival. There are topical, meaningful, stories to tell with that backdrop.
But those are never the stories we get.
⚠⚠ Spoilers for Batman: Urban Legends, Cheer ⚠⚠
I'm particularly disappointed in Urban Legends because for the first issue, it looked like that was the kind of story we were going to get. I was put off by the first flashback of Jason being mesmerized by Bruce's guns, and I got that feeling in my gut that it was a bad sign. Jason depicted as impatient and overconfident and the scene with the guns is heavy-handed foreshadowing that got my spidey-sense tingling. I had a inkling then (in the first three pages) of how this story was going to play out, but it was early and I could still see many narrative paths that could lead to a satisfying story. My concerns were soothed somewhat and the little flame of my hope fanned, with the flashback of Alfred scolding Bruce, with Barbara's concern for Jason. A bit of worry returned with the way Jason ruthlessly pursued an addict who didn't appear to be a dealer and with the ending of the issue. The stuff with the addict sat wrong with me but the ending was tempered some by how despicable Tyler's dad was written. The scene was clearly set so that the reader could sympathize with Jason's decision and the scene with the addict could be brushed aside as a side-effect of comics over-the-top need for constant action, so I still held hope.
Issue 2 made me uncomfortable and it's where my hope starts to take a backseat to my expectations. I can dismiss Jason's self-deprecating internal monologue as unreliable narration, except that the flashback reinforces his thought process to explicitly show that it's not unreliable narration, and should be taken at face value. Jason faces physical abuse at the hands of his mother's drug dealer and when the flashback continues later, Jason kills the drug dealer. To be clear, this is a pre-Bruce Jason. His mom is still alive. He's like... 10. He kills this guy for shoving his head into a wall and implying Jason's mother paid for her drugs with sex. This is a scene that serves a single purpose. To show that Jason has always been prone to violence.
In the spirit of full disclosure, there is the small chance the drug dealer might not be dead. But the story obviously wants the reader to think he is, and it hasn't done anything to change that yet.
Tumblr media
Starlin already did this story with The Diplomat’s Son in 1988 and he did it infinitely better. AND that’s still technically canon. So now I’m supposed to believe that Jason lost his cool bad enough to kill two douche bags before his sweet 16? Like it’s totally normal for abused kids raised in poverty, who’ve led hard and heartbreaking lives to just... haul off and kill people? That’s bullshit, and when taken with the Jason in the third issue, who is little more than an idiot thug, this story is really doubling down on some fucked up stereotypes.
Which brings us to the most recent issue. I went into this installment with very low expectations. I thought this story was going to be about Jason, through this experience with Tyler, a young boy with a similar background to Jason's, coming to the realization that Bruce's way is the best way and that Bruce did his best by Jason.
That would be annoying (in no small part because it takes increasingly absurd levels of plot armor to keep Bruce's no kill rule relevant, let alone irrefutably right). But I can probably live with that, if only because maybe if Jason officially falls back into line with the Bats crusade, maybe I'll get stories that treat him with respect, stories that don't relegate him to comic relief, dumb brute, or a background body with no lines in a story about the Joker burning Gotham (like Jason would just fucking stand there quietly for that).
And that may still be where the story is going, Jason realizing Bruce is right.
But holy shit do I not have the right words to describe how fucking insulting and gross issue three is.
From start to finish--including the flashback--Jason is written as cruel and fucking stupid. Like straight up dumb.
The entire issue is Bruce explaining the fucking basics to Jason like it's his first day. And Jason flies off the fucking handle and terrorizes a doctor he knows isn't a part of making the Cheerdrops, beats the shit out of some random addicts, and finally, when he can't accomplish anything on his own because he's a dumb brute he calls Barbara for help and rushes in with no information where he's promptly incapacitated and must now wait to be rescued by Batman.
This panel is the least of the issues sins but I can’t screenshot the entire story but it’s representative of the tone for the whole issue (and retroactively tainted the prior two issues).
Tumblr media
This is beyond insulting. The only conclusions Jason comes to in this issue are the ones Bruce leads him to by talking to him like he can’t make the simplest connections. And like... in this story Jason can’t make the simplest connections.
This (and the Jason throughout the entirety of this issue) is a far cry from the Jason we fell in love with in Under the Red Hood, who was competent and strategic and intelligent enough to seize control of Gotham’s underworld from Black Mask (who’s no fucking slouch, he’s the first and only person to unify organized crime in Gotham) AND elude and manipulate Bruce until the time and place of his choosing.
This is a far cry from even the Red Hood and the Outlaws Jason who is competent enough to fight the League of Shadows and Ra’s al Ghul (among very dangerous and skilled others) and smart enough to create antidotes for mind control nanotech viruses.
As he should be, by the way. Jason Todd is one of the best, most comprehensively trained fighters in DC’s stable of non powered vigilantes. He’s not irrational or hot headed. He’s pragmatic, tactically minded, and patient. He’s a detective. Right now. Has been since he was 12. Bruce doesn’t have to make him one because he already is.
Jason is not a stupid thug who uses his fists because his brain doesn’t work. And I can’t tell you how so very exhausted I am by this narrative.
This is actually the most egregious example of Jason’s skills and intelligence being not just undermined but dismissed entirely. Even Morrison’s Jason had some degree of competency.
The one, single redeeming factor of this story is the art. It’s beautiful. And Marcus To is a godsend he seems to be one of only a couple of artists who remember that Jason was a child when he was Robin and I’m literally only buying this book because of him.
Anyway, I’m sorry. I didn’t want that to come out so... um... passionately lol. I’m just very very tired. My intention with this isn’t to ruin it for you, if you like it, that’s fine.
But this issue shot this story to the top of my "Vehemently Despise” list. 1) Batman: Urban Legends (Cheer), 2) Battle for the Cowl/Morrison’s Batman and Robin, 3) Batman The Adventure Continues.
I hope the next issues somehow salvage this dumpster fire. But I’m not expecting it.
(Damnit. That sounded harsh again. To reiterate, I’m not trying to judge anyone who enjoys it, I just personally hate it and you asked me why lol 😅)

QuarantEEF
Request: could you write something for Ethan, maybe set during quarantine Unus Annus? like the reader keeps helping him with his videos and they're dating and the editors leave in a clip of them kissing and they don't realize until people go crazy on Twitter?
A/N: As we all know Unus Annus has now ended so I was unable to look back on at the video for reference and I have a terrible memory so I cant really remember a lot from the videos. Also this is just a little short, Im writing this at like 12 am 😅
“15 minutes starting now! Go!” Ethan and Mark mute their calls and stop screen sharing so they can both go hunt on the internet for each other’s deep dark secrets. Ethan sits back after a few minutes and lets out a sign. He looks at the time and sees he still has 10 minutes to go. Ethan bites his lip trying to bite back his smirk as he looks at the camera.
“Editors, you see nothing got it?” He leans as far back in his chair as he can and yells. “BAAaaaAAAABe!!! Can you come here, please!? ANd bring your phone!!!”
Spencer looks up at you.
“Hey don’t look at me like that, I will continue to pet when I get back..” You lean down and kiss his head. “Promise.” You stand and walking to Ethan’s recording room. “Hi my love, aren’t you supposed to be recording?” You ask as you run your fingers instinctively through his hair while you stand next to him. He nods looking up at you.
“I am and I’m on a time limit. Mark and I are supposed to be digging up old dirt on each other for the video but I cant find a single thing on him.” You chuckle and pull out your phone giving it a wiggle.
“And you want me to help you dig up something?” He looks up at you with his puppy dog eyes and nods.
“Pleeeeeease you are like crazy good at looking stuff up.” You playfully roll your eyes.
“I mean how can I say no when you look at me like that.” You take a seat against the wall and start searching, you go through multiple forums and get very deep on Tumblr and Reddit, meanwhile Ethan tries to hold back his giggles at your focus face and he searches through Mark’s old videos.
“2 minutes babe” You bite your lip and look up at him after your email him a link.
“Eef the only thing I could find that’s content worthy is some girl on Reddit like 5 years ago posted about how at a panel Mark went into the crowd and stepped on her foot by accident. Real or not the way she explained it was really funny and I’m only saying that because in the post she’s laughing as well.” You stand and Ethan grabs your hand pulling you into his lap as he peppers your lips, face, and neck in a bunch of little kisses as he says thank you over and over. You giggle and try to get out of his hold. “Ethan that tickles!” The 30 seconds timer sounds and Ethan lets you go.
“Seriously thank you, baby, I love you and will see you after we finish recording.” You nod and give him one more quick kiss before returning to the couch where Spenser was laying.
“See I told you I would come back.” He wags his tail and puts his head in your lap ready for more scratches. Ethan comes out about an hour later, you and spencer were unmoved.
“Spencey scoot over” Spencer looks up at Ethan and doesn’t move. “Aww come on Spence it’s my turn to get head scratches.” You laugh at his little pout.
“Come on spencer get down, we will go on a walk later.” Spencer gets off the couch and gives himself a little shake before going to his bed. Ethan lays down and puts his head on your lap, you smile down at your goofy boy and run your fingers through his hair. “How did it go baby?” Ethan groans.
“Mark found this old site I guess I used to use where people could pay to talk to me, I completely forgot about it.”
“Did you get a little embarrassed?” Ethan looks up at you/
“Just a little, only because I couldn’t find anything like that on Mark.”
“What did he think about the foot thing?” Ethan laughs
“We both got a good kick out of it.” He rolls over so he could look at you. “Hey wanna talk we spencer up to that restaurant we like up the street and get some dinner?” You hum and nod
“Yes pleases I’m starving.”
That was the last you guys talked about the video until late in the evening the next day when both of your phones started blowing up. You set down your paintbrush and look at Twitter.
“Uhhh Eef?!”
“I just saw it!!” You meet him in the livingroom having the same thought. He turns on the Xbox and pulls up the most recent Unus Annus video. We google each other to find our darkest forgotten sins. Ethan pressed play and the video starts normally until the boys part ways to look up dirt on each other. From there the video cuts perfectly between Mark giggling to himself about what he’s finding on Ethan, to you and Eef being tooth rottingly adorable. Your relationship wasn’t a secret by no means, you guys posted pictures and videos together but nothing like this. At the end of the video after the timer, it cuts to Ethan attacking you in kisses. The video ends and you both look at each other with big smiles.
“That was really really cute. Did you approve that?” Ethan shakes his head.
“No Mark approved this video.”
“That was really sweet of him to put that in there.” You lean your head on Ethan’s shoulder. “Ya know we’re a pretty cute couple.” Ethan snorts.
“Yeah baby we really are.”

Chapter 319-324 Class A panel count
There was a lot of discussion on whether Uraraka's role in the Deku-retrieval has been bloated, so I did a quick count to see how the team effort of bringing Deku back is split between the class visually in terms of panel time:
Deku: 115
Uraraka: 59
Bakugou: 46 (+2 adding Ch 318)
Shouto: 31
Iida: 29
Tokoyami: 20
Kirishima 18
Shoji: 15
Sero: 13
Momo: 12
Kaminari, Mineta, Asui: 11
Ojirou: 10
Jirou, Aoyama, Satou, Mina, Kouda: 8
Hagakure: 6 (may be more, she's difficult to spot)
So it is supposed to be a class effort - 17 is the average panel time per person not counting Deku - though clearly, Uraraka, Bakugou, Shouto and Iida are the main players. Even then, Uraraka's panel time is roughly twice as much as Iida's and Shouto's and 20% more than Bakugou's.
Another way that Uraraka's contribution is magnified is in terms of solo panels:
Uraraka: 33
Bakugou: 19 (+2)
Iida, Shouto: 11
That's right. More than half of Uraraka's panels are solo panels, even back in the early chapters, where she didn't do a lot or there was no physical reason to have her separated; her reactions were always highlighted separately, while everyone else was usually portrayed as part of a group. It would be probably similar if counting the full pages and double spreads.
In terms of actual contribution of significant actions:
Bakugou: deduces where Deku is, convinces class A to take action, convinces Endeavor, finds Deku and saves him, confronts Deku about his smile, dispels smoke screen, combo move, apology (8 actions)
Uraraka: idea about principal's office, tells Deku that they are worried, misses catching Deku, combo move, speech on rooftop (5 actions)
Shouto: deduces where Deku is with Bakugou, confronts Endeavor, catches Deku in ice + talk, combo move (4 actions)
Iida: speaks for class in principals office, combo move, takes Deku's hand (3 actions)
Most other class members only have 1 action each, basically, their own “talk” with Deku, though Mina is part of the combo and Sero catches the phone. I already wrote about how in essence Uraraka’s "speech" is the same length more or less as Bakugou's but was dragged through several chapters.
So while Bakugou's contribution was at least on par with what Uraraka did - he was the main instigator of the early effort and clearly one of the main motors of the class confronting Deku - it got downplayed visually comparatively, both by less panel time and less solo panels, framing him more as part of the group.
Uraraka on the other hand was played up with extra solo reaction panels also in the first part of the story where she has less role.
Other than these 4, Tokoyami and Kirishima were above the average in panel count (just barely).
The ones truly shafted in this retrieval arc are: Momo (class vice president), Asui (one of Deku's earliest and closest friends - what Dekusquad?) and Aoyama (who had a separate cheese-arc with Deku). I'm also pretty disheartened by the fact that out of the 6 of least panel time characters, 3 are girls. What happened to my best girl Jirou and hell, I was hoping for some Mina focus after the war arc. (Hagakure will get traitor focus) But oh well. So yes, all the other Class A girls are totally downgraded in this arc.
I get that Ochako as "main heroine" was due for some spotlight, but I wish it was better tied to her own arc. "Who saves heroes" feels kind of flat when in the end, it's only about Deku. Also, I feel like this somewhat artificial bloating of her contribution undermines a bit the class-effort narrative and the "we all became the greatest" message the story was going for in the home-stretch.
I wish I could believe that it was all in a good-faith effort to give her much-needed individual character growth (a rising moment of sorts where she overcomes her challenges), but unfortunately, it looks to me more like the exaggerated visuals are there to serve the endgame pairing, trying to add some foundation to the romance this late in the story.
But of course, everyone is free to make their own conclusions. I'm only presenting the numbers here.

“I’ll see you around?”
Freddy Carter x Reader
Requested - For @aliiiyyaaah
“okay so i actually got a new idea, maybe the reader is amita’s friend/or cousin and she was around set a lot because they really close and the reader loves to sing but is shy and idk maybe freddy is lowkey crushing on the reader and something super cute happens?”
Prompt - The melody of the music box soothed me”
Warnings - Small angst? Fluff 💞
————————————————
The melody of the music box soothed me.
I would play it over and over when I felt stress or anxiety gripping me.
Sometimes I would sing along with the tune and other times I would hum it.
I remember recreating the beats in my head when I met him.
The human version of sunshine.
We locked eyes for a single moment but my heart started to race.
He broke contact first and when he did I spun around to my best friend.
“Amita, who was that?”
“Who was who?”
I move my head slightly in the direction of the mystery man, doing my best to be subtle.
Amita chuckles and links my arm as we walk to her trailer.
“That was Freddy. He’s a shy one but he’s really sweet. You should talk to him!”
I shake my head.
“No no ‘Mita I can’t do that! Besides I’m only here for a couple of days.”
Amita just winks at me as she places on a film and gets comfortable.
“I will introduce you to the rest of the cast later, most of them are filming today.”
“Ahmmm” I mumble, sliding into the blanket on the back of the sofa and slowly feel my eyes slide close. Travelling always leaves me exhausted.
——————————————
I wasn’t sure when I fell asleep but I was awoken to a loud knocking on the trailer door.
I jump up and take in my surroundings. Amita wasn’t here but I see a note on the coffee table.
The knocking continues so I rise from my seat and open the door.
I come face to face with Freddy.
I silently cursed at me dishevelled appearance as he began to speak.
“Oh erm, I’m sorry. I thought you would be Amita? Is she in there?”
His voice was soft and gentle. Kinda like the sound that could soothe you to sleep.
I take a deep breath and pray that my words don’t fail me.
“No sorry, she left me a note saying she had to nip out. Do you want to come in and wait? I won’t mind”
He flashes me a small smile and comes closer.
“Sure, thank you”
He steps inside and takes a seat beside me.
“I’m Y/N ‘Mita’s best friend. She let me come and see production for a couple of days, I love the books and I study media so it helps with my degree”
It took Freddy awhile to warm up but soon we were chatting away, he would listen so intently and absorb everything around him. It was amazing to see.
Suddenly the door flung open and Amita rushes inside looking every wind swept.
“Oh! I see you guys have met!” She exclaims seeing Freddy and I together.
“I was just sorting out last minute arrangements for your stay, your in the same hotel as us” she explains to me. This prompted me to look at my watch which in turn caused me to gasp.
“It’s getting late and I still need to check in!”
Amita helps me with my luggage and I turn to leave the trailer.
“I’ll see you around?” I ask Freddy.
He responds by giving me a quick nod and a bright smile.
Amita giggles under her breath.
“He likes you”
———————————————
Days on set turned into weeks on set and soon I felt like part of the family. I got to meet the others and had many laughs, especially with Kit and Archie and Ben. The girls became my sisters, I loved spending my nights with Amita, Jessie and Danielle.
I didn’t see Freddy often but when I did I would always greet him with a wave and a smile.
I never really got much out of him, not since the day we actually met.
It was currently night and I was sat in Amita’s hotel room with her and and Jessie.
Amita was laughing with Jessie, telling her how we met and grew up together. I watched with a smile on my face reliving the memories in my head.
I lost myself in my thoughts and was startled when Jessie squeals and grabs me by the the shoulders.
“You didn’t tell me you could sing!”
A blush creeps over me and I lower my head.
“Erm, no no. I don’t, not really”
Jessie still spends the next hour trying to convince me to sing her something but to no avail.
I wish them both goodnight and head down the hallway to the elevator to my room.
A Ding! rings out and I step forward into the small metal box.
I small scream jumps from my throat as I see Freddy stood in front of me.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry! I should of watched where I was going” I gasp, trying to regain my breath.
“Oh no, it’s my fault, my apologies” Freddy replies before pressing the number 4 on the control panel.
Number 4, for the floor of my room.
Silence envelopes us but this time it nagged at my mind.
I couldn’t stop the words that fell from my mouth after that.
“Freddy do you not like me?”
I watched as his face fell, it was like seeing a wounded puppy and it tore at my heart.
“Why, why would you think that?” He asked, his voice cracking slightly.
“Have I done something wrong?”
I shook my head rapidly.
“Oh my gosh! No no, not at all”
I take a moment before continuing, or at least I tried to before a loud thump! caused me to lose my balance just as the lights went out.
“Freddy? Freddy what’s happening?” I panic.
“Hey hey it’s okay, it’s just the lift. Everything will be back up and running soon”
I do my best to listen to his words but I couldn’t focus.
I grab for the closest thing to me and I end up taking Freddy’s hand.
He brings me to his chest and strokes my head , whispering sweet nothings in my ear. When my panic finally subsided, I slide down the elevator wall and quietly sing that one melody to myself.
I didn’t realise that Freddy had sat next to me until the song reached its last note.
“You have a wonderful voice” Freddy mumbles and I smile at him.
“Thank you”
“And in answer to your question, I do like you. I like you so much I feel that when I’m around you I’m going to burst. You make me feel things I haven’t felt in a long time. I feel like I’m 15 again, always wondering what to say and stumbling over my words. You’re extraordinary and well ... well this ...”
Freddy leans into my face and slowly places his hand on my cheek, caressing my face just before our lips finally joined. It was a short kiss but one I that will be encased in my memory forever.
I lean in to go again but I stopped when brightness lit up behind my eyes.
The elevator was run and running. I jump up before it’s noticed that we were on the floor and help Freddy up along the way.
The doors open and I step out of them.
I turn to wink at Freddy with a smirk on my face.
“I suppose I’ll see you around?”
