Elise has gained more appreciation over time, but you still get people who think she's to blame for everything wrong with '06. She was a decent if underdeveloped character who simply wasn't used in the story that well, and anyone who thinks turning her into a Not-Sally is the only way to fix her isn't trying.

There's also Zor and Marine, both of whom I will always defend. Isn't it wild how I can barely remember anything from The End's three minute tough guy Reddit copypasta, yet everything Zor says is solid gold... shout out to IDW for missing the point and making him an unironic tryhard like every other villain in the comic. As for Marine, people act as though her character development never happened, which isn't helped by Flynn being one of those very people, and I don't understand why they give her flak for her stereotypical accent, yet make no such complaints about Bunnie.

For a couple of non-Sonic examples: King Sombra kind of went through the same arc as Elise in retrospect. As in, nowadays he has more open fans, but back when he made his debut, he received a disproportionate amount of flak for being a mostly silent villain, and the way he was used. I personally appreciated what they were going for with him, mainly cause of how they conveyed his Crazy Prepared defenses and the like, and honestly, by the time FiM concluded, I think he ended up better off than certain other villains lmao.

And of course, Moneybags. Not counting the first game (cause he didn't exist yet), I don't consider it a true Spyro experience if Winnie the Shit doesn't pop up in increasingly improbable locations to make deals in exchange for, *ahem*, a small fee. He also has some of the best lines. ("What are you going to do, sue me?")

♠️ - favourite protagonist?

Gex is unironically a better written character than everyone in Frontiers and IDW put together. This realisation makes me want to drink tap water at Jerry Garcia's.

Tails has always been my main bro out of the Sonic good guys, cause of how smart he is and how much he wants to help. :D It's also why I'm vocal about how much I despise it when fans double down on reducing the franchise to Just Furry DBZ due to super forms and whatnot, since it means Tails and other characters not named Sonic/Shadow/Silver are guaranteed to be treated even more like they're not good for anything meaningful. >:|

Then there's Spyro of course, which I know will be considered ironic to some given my complex feelings on Sonic, but truth be told, Spyro isn't really that similar to Sonic beyond some snark. He does admittedly act like a dude with tude in the first game, but it's clear that he's younger in that one. From the second game onward, where he's slightly older, he's considerably more chill... at least compared to Bubsy and many others from the 90's. And speaking of, despite his dialogue consisting entirely of WOAH, I respect Crash as well, since it was the bandicoot that got little me into the world of video games.

And many things change, but my fondness for Fluttershy will never die. Just as I have a preference for funny robot-loving villains who nonetheless remain a legit serious threat instead of being a joke, I have another preference for kindhearted quiet characters... which is why I also enjoy Trip... and Tikal... look, we all have our types, I'm sure you can sympathise. ;P

🕷️ - a character you feel is underrated?

The Hard-Boiled Heavies have mostly been pushed aside since Mania came out (aside from that one IDW story, but that's not a blessing), and it makes me madder than YouTubers who pretend they're mad because there are villains with dialogue who have less personality than these guys. They're so much fun, and despite all of them having the same Egg Robo template, their designs remain distinct from each other, even in silhouette form.

I also took to Ariem early on. Like the Heavies, "underrated" refers to general lack of fandom buzz compared to other characters, since although she appears to be quite liked, the acknowledgement given to her is somewhat limited due to her being stuck in an Android-only game for the time being. Some people also have an obsession with comparing her unfavourably to either Sage or Lanolin, for reasons I can probably guess in both cases. Me? I love her design, and her interactions with Cream and Knuckles are cute. :> I know it's not likely, but I hope she appears elsewhere so that she can be brought to more fans' attention... provided she doesn't get IDW'd.

Finally, a more complicated example: Metal Sonic. Now yes, he's very popular and beloved, and remains so to this day, but during the last couple of years, I feel I've been seeing two growing sides in the community when it pertains to him: the side who loves Neo Metal Sonic, and believe he's only a threat in that form like Flynn apparently believes (given how he often turns regular Metal into a jobber), and the side who consider him lame or essentially worthless because of his minimal characterization compared to others. He might not say much, and he might be a hedgehog-shaped tool of Eggman's ambition rather than a complete person of his own, but I believe there's a lot you can do with Metal that wouldn't require turning him into Usurper the Elf Shoes. OVA Metal ain't S-tier for nothing.

Kesk Amanita (they/them) is a nonbinary minotaur cleric of the god of Plague & Outcasts. They survived a horrible magical disease with no known survivors at a very young age, losing their parents in the process, and were raised in the extremely remote mountaintop quarantine temple by the head of the religious order there, alongside his half-orc child Jukha. They are demi-romantic, asexual, intersex, and have vitiligo.

Reverence Trouble Malephar (he/him, yes the T does stand for Trouble) is an ex-mafia private eye. He is also a "paladin" of the same deity of Plague & Outcasts as Kesk, though they're from very different settings. I often use Trouble or Trubs to denote his younger mafia self from his older self, who I refer to as Reverence or Rev. He had a bad experience when he tried to skim money off his mafia grift and ended up getting his boyfriend and their team killed in front of him. He also had a girlfriend who disappeared after that and he finds out much later that he has twin kids with her: a daughter named Adventure and a (trans) son named Confidence. Reverence is cis, bi, and polyam.

Aeron Merla (he/him) is a Kenku Revenant and a rogue/warlock. He lived in the city of Avon's Keep and was a member of the local crime family (Cosa Corax) and the oldest of 14 kids. He was murdered by assassins from a rival group (Cosa Noctua). He was found and brought back by a creature called the Nachtraven, a generally malevolent fragment of the kenku deity The Raven Queen. He ran away from home to try and find a way to fix this because it's generally anathema to the worship of The Raven Queen to refuse death, but he still wants to live. He's kept alive by a small eye-parasite that the Nachtraven implanted in his slit throat. Aeron is cis and gay.

M'rai Scourgemaw (she/her) is a gnoll wild-soul barbarian. She was raised as a fighter to help out in the Three Scars War on behalf of a kingdom-state neighboring her homeland. She helped lead a group of trained mercenaries known as Blood Battalion, specializing in fighting magic-users. She was nearly killed by an immense major backlash in a fight and was left behind to heal by the Battalion. They never came back and the war finished while she was recovering, leading to her becoming her own merc and eventually getting arrested and thrown in jail. From there she escaped during a dragon attack, helped stop a coup that would restart the war, and discovered that she has a wellspring of raw wild magic within her now. Also she reconnected with the Battalion and her old flame, Amaranthe. M'rai is cis and gay.

Sidewinder (they/them & he/him) is a Yeremy Copperhead. The Yeremy are a culture of people indigenous to the continent of Ush'dvania, the home of the ancient Witch Kings. Yeremy wear masks to hide their true selves from strangers, so Sidewinder is almost never seen without his mask when around other people. Copperheads are alchemist-assassins and masters of poison and shadows. Sidewinder grew up wandering from place to place helping their mother with spirit-work and healing. They grew fascinated with magic and poisons and eventually moved to Ironwood, a small town on the frontier of the wastes, to set up a home and attract the attention of the Copperheads to earn the right to request membership. He has since: raided the secret warehouses of the powerful Havlan Trading Company at least 3 times, destroyed the entire Strychnine Syndicate's presence in Ironwood, unleashed a still-living Witch King, made friends, started dating the town deputy, and stuck his originally-normal arm in so much magic that eventually it had to be fully rebuilt.

Otylia Byalas (she/her & they/them) is a Trau Stitcher. The Trau are the fourth indigenous group from Ush'dvania and the only one that doesn't wear masks as a cultural practice. Or at least not physical masks; they culturally respond "I am but a humble [x]" to any particularly probing questions. Otylia and her fathers used to be just as nomadic as Sidewinder and his mother, and the two groups ran into each other fairly often on their travels, becoming friends. Otylia and Sidewinder dated briefly as teens, before deciding to remain as friends only. Otylia moved to a major city to attend medical school, and while there ran into trouble after turning to a life as a resurrectionist in order to properly gain experience. She fled to Ironwood and took up an apprenticeship under Doc Huxelby, becoming the medic on Sidewinder's team and helping him out with a little magi-medical problem as well.

The Broken Road to Peace:  mysterymanjoseph and quietmuse

Joseph had been recalled to the palace from his patrol of his realm’s borders.  Even royals are obligated to a term of military service, and he was fulfilling his, but, rather than back at a barracks in safety, he goes to the frontier, to truly earn the respect of men that he might have order into battle at some future time.  Returning to the palace, he is sat down by his grandparents, the king and queen.  Joseph’s own parents had passed while he was very young, and his grandparents have raised him since.  It was explained to him that a new realm of people had been discovered to the far West, well past the uncharted lands bordering his own homeland.  Envoys have been traveling back and forth, in secret, to establish diplomatic relations.  The reason for the secrecy, these people to the West are apparently the basis of the legends and myths of the ‘magic folk’ that were told as stories to entertain children and adults alike.  This particular realm, Fae folk, are very influential in their region, and the idea of a marriage of state had been introduced, and both parties of diplomats have agreed to it.  Not that Joseph had been advised of any of this.  It was a shock to say the least, and some intense debate between he and his grandparents went on for some hours over the matter.  Reluctantly, because he really had no chance to win the argument, Joseph acquiesced to his grandparents decision.  So, with a small retinue of officials of state, he heads out to this far Western kingdom.  His grandparents, being in their later years, would likely not withstand the rigors of such a journey, so remain behind at home.  Riding at the front of the small column of guards, carriages, and supply wagons, Joseph pats his huge warhorse, Dagger, on the neck as they have now passed the desolate uncharted lands.  It was like entering an entirely new world, such a drastic change, from almost lifeless ground to great forests, green meadows, and abundant wild life, streams and brooks bubbling along here and there.  As they travel, Joseph mumbles, “Makes me believe the land might be as much magic as these people are supposed to be boy.”  Joseph is constantly fingering the grips of the two swords that ride on his left hip, Twilight and Dawn, gifts from an ambassador of a far Eastern island kingdom of great warriors.  According to the story that came with the blades, the are ‘special’, forged from the heart of a star that died and fell from the heavens.  Joseph cannot say anything against the artistry that went into creating them, rather than tools held in the hand, they feel like extensions of his body when he wields them.  Dagger is constantly sniffing the air, things are so alive now, compared to the last few weeks of travel, the big horse is invigorated.  Joseph thinks, “Beautiful lands, I wonder if the people that live here are just as beautiful?”

Welcome to Nerath

This is just me shouting into the ether about my homebrew setting, mostly just so I get stuff jotted down somewhere and also for anyone who might want to mine it for inspiration. In 4e D&D, Nerath is the civilization that fell relatively recently to create the “Points of Light” base setting. In my world (creatively named Arth *long* after we’d been playing in it for a while), the Nerathi Confederacy is one of the major nations of the world, a collection of city-states that united after centuries of internecine warfare after the fall of Bael Turath and Arkhosia. They are: - Highmark: The capital and most cosmopolitan city, Highmark is a mining town and industrial powerhouse. (Highmark is kind of the New York/Sharn/Coruscant hub, at least for Nerath) - Grimfar: Grimfar is a primarily dwarven city and the breadbasket of Nerath. (Grimfar is kind of quietly powerful, in that folks tend to think of the dwarves as bumpkin farmers, but they *also* have kind of a mafioso feel in that they control whether people eat or not) - Issenvik: Issenvik used to be a pirate haven, and maintains a steadfastly nautical focus, but has shifted towards more mercantile concerns over the years. (Issenvik still has a major piratical/viking feel to it, and bragging is a *very* common Issenvik pasttime) - Thantopolis: The city of the dead, the necropolis of Thantopolis is ruled by its unliving citizen class, while the living flourish under the protection of their legions. (I tend to find undead fascinating, and Thantopolis is very much influenced by the Scarred Lands setting’s Hollowfaust. It has a kind of Greek/Roman feel to it, in part because the oldest undead hold to more ancient fashions and ways of thinking) - Aethrennar: The fey city of Aethrennar is itself a work of art, crafted over the years by numerous eladrin and gnome artisans. It exists simultaneously in the mortal plane and the Feywild. (This is basically the party town of Nerath. :) ) - Vanilorra: Hidden in a deep forest in the center of the continent, the elven warriors of Vanilorra are staunch traditionalists and steadfast protectors of the wild places of the world. (We jokingly referred to the elves of Vanilorra as “hillbilly samurai”, and it’s not far off) - Yondon: Yondon is a trading city and religious site for the nomadic halfling tribes of the southern part of Nerath. It varies wildly in size depending upon the migration of the tribes. (It has kind of a frontier/Wild West sort of feel to it, mixed with some Vaes Dothrak) - Mythragal: The floating city of Mythragal is built on an earthmote (flying chunk of rock), and is home to the finest mages in Nerath. It is also the mortal plane home of the goddess Ioun, though she very rarely involves herself in mortal affairs. These were the original eight cities. Over the course of the first campaign a ninth city was reclaimed, and two more introduced that would eventually be brought into the nation. - Nachtur: The goblinoid city of Nachtur had been lost to demons due to the machinations of the other cities at the founding of Nerath, but the goblins were able eventually to reclaim their homeland. - Shom: The extraplanar city of Shom was held in temporal stasis from before the Change, but was brought to Arth through the efforts of a group of adventurers as part of the cleansing of Nachtur. - Mag Tureah: The Underdark city of Mag Tureah was long thought a myth until its fomorian rulers staged an invasion of Nerath. Nerath was eventually able to counterattack and topple the fomorian king, inducting the city into Nerath with a ruling council of formerly enslaved cyclopses and fey.

This is role playing game, such a style of dungeons and dragons, just fantasy with battles and magic. The thing you really need, saying shortly.  

I suggest you to make journey into world of kingdoms, wild forests and ocean, that nobody can overtake and far lands. Nobody have seen them. Lands are full of treasures, that’s waits the day when searchers for adventure will open magic lock and take power and gold. In terms of artifacts, magic sword, overpower spell or get lots of gem stones – sapphires and diamonds in your adventure through savage lands of kingdom and beyond.

Princess Alicia suggest for group of adventurers to go to the eastern lands of kingdom. And get through them, to go beyond kingdom`s land, through emerald bridge and ocean of lava. There will be lands of flowers. And you need to get some magic artifacts and gem of east – stone edem`s sapphire. In exchange Alicia is ready to equip your expedition.

And as you return with success you will get your own castle in eastern lands and you can be good living. And as a first step of good will – you will receive 5 thousands gold for your adventures. And a chance to get  equipment in stores of a capital about 10 000 gold in total of prices. By saying that you have a decree for expedition. And pay nothing. Looks very generously. And by the way princess is good looking. And at least it is interesting to see her personally.

And adventures – are the same kind of people. At last, you just can go to nowhere with such a gold. Just get in a shadow somewhere in a borders of kingdom and do really nothing about a quest. Or just make your own decisions. No one princess or kings cannot tell how to live, you are searcher for adventurer. True keepers of kingdom are adventurers. Persons of might and magic.

And no princess or a king. Which can do nothing, just do decisions. So take this quest is definitely is a good idea. And what to do next – wind and road will tell. So this sunny day you can have a real good time. And than go for a quest. In a path of savage lands of a kingdom.

Alicia gives you magical orb. Using it she will speak with you during your quest. And also in some cities by her decision you will receive something.

Sounds – like a good adventure!

Nelson Peltz... Some big-time guy trying to shake things up with the Disney board...

I think he's bad news...

You may know that I'm not the biggest fan of long-time Disney CEO Bob Iger, but Peltz? Some "activist investor" who complains about current Disney movies being too "woke"?

Singling out BLACK PANTHER in particular? The two Wakanda-set movies that made a combined $2 billion at the worldwide box office? The character, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman, and his associates showing up in billion dollar smashes like CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME? And you just know he name-checked THE MARVELS because it stars three women, only one of which being white.

Not to mention being buddy-buddies with Ike Perlmutter, former Marvel CEO, notorious corner-cutter and one of those execs who gave Marvel Studios such a hard time on several of their movies... And wouldn't greenlight the first BLACK PANTHER and CAPTAIN MARVEL... Need I dredge up stuff that that guy said in emails leaked during the 2014 Sony hack?

Peltz has been compared, aptly, to Saul Steinberg, the corporate raider who tried to do a hostile takeover of the Disney enterprise in 1984. Even Walt's descendants would rather have Iger, who they often criticize, than a dingus like Peltz or someone similar.

I won't sugarcoat it. Iger's made plenty of mistakes, and I feel his Disney is too much of a well-oiled machine making safe stuff. Dependable brands, remakes of old favorites, filmmakers not really being able to make what they want there, not enough real innovation going on... Not enough trying to "do the impossible", as Walt would say.

But I'll take that over these dweebs who honk "woke" like a defective goose. If it were up to them, every new Disney movie would be some corny DAVY CROCKETT, KING OF THE WILD FRONTIER thing. They'd become a big budget Daily Wire. That's the LAST thing I want to happen to Disney.

Funny how some 40 years later, there's this kind of mayhem at the Mouse House. A once successful CEO's strategy falling apart at the seams, and a bunch of fools answering the problem with utter nonsense. It'd be like a leak in a dam happening, and your solution being "ban Taco Bell" or something. Just gibberish that has ZILCH to do with the situation at hand.

I went over this before, but "wokeness" isn't why a lot of Disney's recent triple-digit-million behemoths aren't recouping their astronomical costs at the box office. We literally had a freakin' Barbie movie w/ an incredibly diverse cast and a loud-and-proud feminist message make nearly a billion and a half last year. Disney's own AVATAR sequel fits all the bills of being a "woke" movie, and it made nearly two and a half billion (!!!), like... These people don't live in reality, or they cater to people who don't because hey, engagement. Ya know? Disney's POOR THINGS, feminist AF and very off-putting for a lot of people, tripled its budget. I mean, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Several other Disney movies that scare these thin-skinned weirdos made plenty of coin or at least covered their costs: Many recent STAR WARS movies, some of the Marvel movies, the FROZEN movies, etc.

Like, miss me with the "well if they weren't so woke" shit. If something like THE MARVELS or INDIANA JONES 5 failed, it had nothing to do with WHO was in it. Anyways, let this episode end already.

Music was a fun word to be derived from my mind map as music has been a fundamental part of my life for ages and has only grown more important to me. I have chosen music as a word I would like to further research due to its personal connections to me and due to how music can inspire art and creativity.

One of my favourite artists is Adam Ant, a British New wave artists, know for his punky music and interesting wardrobe of fashionable styles. Listing to his music is like listening to nothing else, it oozes personality like a burst faucet, pooling water onto the floor. Some of his best work was produced when he was still with his band, the Ants, making his most infamous albums like King’s of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming, but his solo career was not slacking either with Friend or Foe and Strip.

One of his most eye catching features is his get up, his costume was always a highlight of his music videos and album covers with how expressive they were. Designed by himself with help from others, his outfits have stood the passage of time and have become iconic in their own right. He used makeup to exaggerate and amplify his outfits, with something as simple as a white stripe or two red lines adding depth to his face while also striking an almost tribalistic aura.

From his Highwayman to his Prince Charming, from his sailor days to his ruff stable boy, he is able to keep his style and change it enough to make it stand out in his clothing discography. 

Jay Kay is the lead singer to the band Jamiroquai, being the only member to stay a constant from the 7 refreshes that they have gone through. He is known for his funky and jazzy tunes, and for his set of eccentric hats. Every albums sees him adorning a new cap, all just as weird and unique as the last.

He's gone from plain to exaggeration to a motorised hat that moves, he has been coined the Mad Hatter and the Cat in the Hat for this obsession by others.

But one of the best things about his band is the music of course, some personal favourite of mine would be Corner of the Earth, Alright, Virtual Insanity and The Return of the Space Cowboy. Jazz, while such a big genre spanning years has never really obtained that much mainstream press, especially in recent years, what could be for a number of reason such as length, with some songs going past 5 minutes, and on occasion reaching up to 9 on the odd occasion, and for some, who listen to songs that can last only 2 and a half minutes this is a costly investment. Thankfully I have no such problem and can indulge myself.

I would love to use Jamiroquai and Jay Kay specifically for my project, I want to tap into his style just like I do with Adam ant, I want to siphon it and use it in my art for the project, I want to go above and beyond with them and make something that could truly stand on its own. I want to be inspired by their music and costume due to how personal they are, and I think it's something lacking in gaming, as everything is either too gruff or cute and flat, but they had the perfect between them.

However, I want to focus on Ritchie Blackmore's music specifically, not due to it being better, even though I still adore it, but because of a specific song.

Catch the Rainbow became one of my favourite songs the first time I heard it, just like Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues, Car Trouble by Adam and the Ants and What Will Happen Will Happen by Lemon Demon, it's just a perfect song to me. I would love to visualise this song on paper, and that is something I want to try for this project, or at least try and implement this in the project proposal.

Ritchie Blackmore himself is a pretty well known guy even if you don't realise it, seen as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time, having been the guitarist in Depp Purple, know for such songs as Smoke on the Water, Highway Star and Child of Time, before going onto a solo career and creating Rainbow with James Dio himself, know for such songs as Rainbow in the Dark. This was due to a sleuth of reasons that had been accumulating for quite some time that had caused friction in the group. 

After touring ended on April 7th 1975, he went to make a single with ELF, an american band after Deep Purple had rejected to do it, however in this short time, the Idea of Rainbow was born, keeping Ronnie James Dio on till he left 1979 to join Black Sabbath.

I find it quite interesting how so many bands are interconnected like this, and how links can be made to connect them.

Overall, I really want music to play a role in my project, style wise especially, but I would also like to do stuff based on visualising music. I always found it off how music based games don’t always feel like music games, they have music and some mechanics like matching the beat or actually playing the music, but little try and develop their own look reminiscent of the 80’s, but that could just be personal introspective of me.

Thoughts (if any) on DC's April 2021 solicitations?

Let’s take ‘em in order! I should be able to muster up a comment on just about everything one way or another.

Green Lantern #1: Oh this is gonna be bad. Heard only the worst about Thorne’s Future State: Green Lantern, and I assume Jo Mullein’s DCU debut will be wasted here to either function as some kind of ridiculous ‘popularity contest’ with Teen Lantern for who gets the bigger push, or as a way to put TL over with a few “good work kid, you got a future” comments. Also, and granted I don’t know how Morrison will end or this will begin, is the New Guardians angle being immediately dropped?

Robin #1: Dope suit, art, and premise, but it’s Williamson so I don’t care.

Batman: The Dark Knight #1: I’ll read this and I expect to like it, but between this being Kubert’s first big Batman project since Master Race, the ‘old but not quite retirement age yet’ angle, and the title, I’m concerned the shock ending here is that it’s actually a stealth DKR prequel.

The Next Batman: Second Son #1: So they really are committing here, though weird that this kinda makes Ridley’s Future State book basically a longform teaser for this. The Batman & Scooby Doo Mysteries #1: I got that whole great-looking Scooby Doo Team-Up run by Fisch for free on Comixology, I should read that sometime and see if this’ll be worth getting too as well, because it sounds like a hoot.

Challenge of the Super Sons #1: Glad people who want it are getting it, I do not care.

RWBY/Justice League #1: WILL BE GETTING A POST ALL ITS OWN

Action Comics #1030: His powers waning definitely won’t help the standard pre-run fuming by a lot of Superman fandom, but it’s an interesting pairing with PKJ apparently doing mainly cosmic Superman adventures so I’m curious where he’ll go with it. That it’s particularly cited as being tied to Death Metal might validate my suspicion that the new ‘everyone remembers their entire mainstream publishing histories’ thing will play into Johnson’s description of Clark really feeling his age at the start of the run. And Janin on covers even before he gets in on the book proper! And that Midnighter description!

Superman #30: This sounds like where Johnson’s gonna start with that worldbuilding he touted, and I’m curious; definitely reads in this instance like him shoving Clark and Jon into some swords-and-sorcery-esque territory he’s familiar with.

American Vampire 1976 #7: Not reading, don’t care.

Batman #107: I assume ‘the events at Arkham Asylum’ are the ‘A-Day’ ominously brought up in Future State solicits. Tynion Batman, Jimenez as the regular artist now, whatever the Unsanity Collective is, all entirely my shit. More importantly than any of that though, GHOSTMAKER BACKUPS. And drawn by Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, artist on Steve Orlando’s excellent The Pull! Dope!

Batman: Black & White #5: Any other issue and ‘Jamal Campbell doing a life story of Nightwing’ would probably be the highlight, but in case you somehow hadn’t heard Gillen/McKelvie are making their DC debut on a Batman vs. Riddler story here, absolutely wild.

Batman: Urban Legends #2: Even more excited for this now that I’m onboard for the Grifter and Outsiders stuff given how much those features pleasantly surprised me in Future State.

Batman/Superman #17: Injecting it isn’t enough anymore, I need to be on some kind of constant IV drip with this book. I was wondering whether it’d take the premise to further generational riffs or follow a history of mass-media Supermen and Batmen, but instead it’s veering off in a direction I never could have guessed and I couldn’t be more excited.

Batman vs. Ra’s Al Ghul #6: NOTHING CAN STOP THE ADAMSVERSE. NONE MAY DARE TRY.

Batman/Catwoman #5: Wondering how this Harley involvement plays in - I don’t imagine it’s quite what it seems given how King’s written her before. And love that Joker by Mann on the cover, major Clown at Midnight vibes.

Catwoman #30: No reason to assume this run won’t continue to rule.

Crime Syndicate #2: Dammit, I don’t think this book is going to be good, but I’m kinda tempted.

Detective Comics #1035: Wouldn’t be psyched, but Dark Detective was another pleasant surprise so I’ll give this a chance.

The Dreaming: Waking Hours #9: Again, not reading.

Far Sector #11: Sucks a little knowing we’ll never see that little ‘Young Animal’ label in the corner again after this wraps. At least it’s going out on its highest note.

The Flash #769: In a vacuum this would sound dope but I have less than no faith in this, and goddamn that’s a terrible cover.

Harley Quinn #2: I’m sure it’ll be fine, no interest.

The Joker #2: I wanna believe Tynion will be able to make this work, he keeps talking like he has more freedom on this than he has some other books, but everything about this reads like the price he has to pay for relative post-Joker War freedom on Batman.

Justice League #60: It’s Bendis/Marquez on Justice League, lots of people will complain but I’ll mostly dig it. More interested in Ram V briefly getting to write the main crew in the JLD backup.

Man-Bat #3: I’d ask why this exists - and as a matter of fact I still do - but checking out some of DC’s digital-first output recently I see Dave Wielgosz has something on the ball, so maybe he’ll be able to make this work? Perhaps I’ll check it out in trade someday if worth-of-mouth is on its side.

Nightwing #79: I maintain, this is gonna be huge. And clever move to make for how to justify Nightwing keeping up his standard way of business after Bruce loses most of his money.

Rorschach #7: A comic I will purchase and let’s continue leaving it at that.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #109: DC’s highest-numbered comic (that hasn’t gone through an interim renumbering), astonishing. Not getting it myself, but respect.

Sensational Wonder Woman #2: Can’t say this sounds like my thing.

Suicide Squad #2: I’ve been swayed into checking out the Future State debut, but that’d have to really blow me away for me to follow into the main book.

Superman: Red & Blue #2: Sadly if unsurprisingly DC’s clearly not stacking this with AAA attention-grabbing names in the same way as this latest version of Batman: Black & White, but there do seem to be some interesting names from outside the usual big two roster here. And the main and Bolland cover may disappoint but holy cow that David Choe variant.

The Swamp Thing #2: I have no doubt it’ll be incredible but time and again I learn I simply don’t have it in me to care about Swamp Thing regardless of the objective quality of the effort put into him.

Sweet Tooth: The Return #6: Another one I’m not interested in.

Titans Academy #2: Oh lord so this is where they stuck Billy Batson.

Truth & Justice #3: I continue to have no idea what if anything the unifying idea of this anthology is supposed to be.

Wonder Woman #771: Wonder Woman as troubleshooter for mythological mishaps isn’t a permanently sustainable or desirable status quo but I’m down for it for as long as it lasts if it’s any good (though that Immortal Wonder Woman preview...concerned me, in spite of Jen Bartel’s jaw-dropping art).

So that’s 19-23 out of 37 I’ll be getting - if DC’s standard for success with Infinite Frontier is the proportion of their line people will be checking out, I guess it’s winning with me.

Chapter 2 - One day closer

One more day.

A few hours from now, his soon to be husband would be arriving at the castle, and then they would be celebrating their nuptials. The nobles would be there to testify, the people would be outside to celebrate, there would be plenty of food and wine for all to rejoice, and yet Patton felt defeated.

He looked up from the book he was not reading, only holding, when he heard a knock on the door, and with a soft 'come in', allowed whoever it was that was knocking. His smile didn't turn sour when he saw his best friends Logan and Roman walking inside after a brief bow.

"Your highness" Roman said, and Patton chuckled softly, without his usual happiness but still calm enough to provoke peace on the other two. He placed the book down on his desk and stood up from his reading chair, smiling at them.

"You may be at ease, Roman" he said softly, and Roman nodded slowly while Logan just looked at him, seeming worried. "What news do you two bring?"

"We came mostly to let you know, Patton, that everything is in perfect order. The food, the guests and your clothes will all be ready for prince Janus' arrival. You two will be able to marry as quickly as you so desire" Logan said, softly, and Patton gave him a little nod.

"Good... thank you. I know I have been asking quite a lot of you two, as soon as the marriage ends I will be sure to send you both for a long and well deserved vacation" Patton said, but Roman bowed his head slowly.

"Nothing pleases me more than to serve you" he said, and then looked up, smiling. "And nothing pleases me more than staying next to my friends."

That was able to get a truthful giggle out of Patton, something that left Logan and Roman extremely relaxed. Seeing their prince in such low lights was not an easy task.

"Oh Roman you are always such a gentleman" Patton said, offering a place at his table, and the three of them sat down around the food that had been served that morning. "Please eat whatever you want. You two deserve a feast for kings. With you I have no idea how any of this would have been possible."

"Thank you, Patton, but despite all the swift motion of the wedding, we are also here to talk to you" Logan said, while Roman was already serving himself of some bread and cheese. When Patton looked at him, Logan sighed. "We can see how unhappy you are, Patton. We... want to help. In a more personal, friendly way. Tell us what's wrong."

Roman looked up at that, nodding to their prince, but Patton seemed uncertain about it. He looked at his friends and then down at the food, remaining in silence for a moment before he sighed.

"What isn't wrong?" he whispered, and Logan felt a wave of relief that at least Patton wasn't keeping things to himself anymore. "My parents were brutally murdered a month ago, and barely had any celebration they deserved. Now, I am marrying someone I don't know, for the sake of our kingdoms, and for our parents' memories. I do not mean any harm when I say this, god forbid I ever would, but the Anguis were never known for their kindness and justice. And from what I have heard of prince Janus, god bless his soul, he can be malicious and mean, and even deceitful, to achieve his goals. That... is the opposite of what I am. I preach truth and love to all... I am scared. Of what this marriage will come to. If we will ever see eye to eye. If we will even be remotely happy..."

"All valid feelings, Patton" Logan said, and reached out to hold his hand gently. "But remember that we will always be here by your side. You will not have to rule alone."

"Whatever happens to you, my prince, we will be there to aid you and protect you" Roman added, holding Patton's free hand as well. "We will not allow him to make you his puppet, or to hurt you or control what is rightfully yours. We will never leave your side."

Patton looked between his closest friends and gave them a shaky smile, but one that warmed their hearts. He squeezed their hands and nodded, closing his eyes for a second before he let out a soft sigh.

"There was something... my mother told me long ago... that I never quite forgot" Patton said, letting go of their hands and standing up. Logan and Roman watched as he looked out of the window, thoughtful and lost in his story. "She told me that when I was little, around three to four years old, her and dad took me all the way to a little town called Lilyville. They wanted me to know my kingdom, even as a child, and she said that was the most important town of all, because it stayed right in the middle of the frontier between our kingdom and the kingdom of Anguis. It was the living proof that our kingdoms were united for centuries and always would be.

"So they took me there, and she said the town was incredibly pretty. Now only it was prosperous and rich, it also mixed the cultures between our kingdoms so nicely that it was almost as if it was somewhere else entirely. And then, out of pure coincidence, the king, queen and prince of Anguis showed up in the same town, at the same time, doing the same thing: showing their little boy the town that held the history of our kingdoms.

"My mother said that, when Janus and I first saw each other, it was like magic filled the air. I was wild and careless, and I ran to him wanting to play, and even though he was shy, he came with me and we played together for the whole week we were in Lilyville. She said that Janus had never trusted someone as much as he trusted me, and that I had never been so happy to play with a stranger before...

"Point is" Patton said, by now sitting by the windowsill, staring out of the glass with a soft expression "that I hope that feeling haven't changed... I hope that my mother was right, and when we see each other, magic will fill the hallways of this castle. I hope... Janus will be the man that that little kid was..."

Roman and Logan didn't even know how to respond, so they didn't. They stared at Patton as he looked longingly out of the window, waiting for something that was about to come. A storm or a nice breeze, they didn't know, but something came in the distance and it was clouded and filled with mystery.

 ---------------------

 "How far away are we?" Janus asked, annoyed and angry as they made their way towards the Beatum kingdom. Since the trip was supposed to be quick, they did not take any carriages, just horses with food and supplies. But as a prince, he wasn’t used with riding a horse for such a long time, so he was beginning to get cranky.

"Just another day your highness" Remus called from the front of the group, being the one leading the others in his black tall horse. "We will find shelter for tonight and tomorrow we must be arriving at around lunch hours at the castle."

"Why is my castle so far away from the frontier?" Janus grumbled to himself, wrapping the blanket around his shoulders a bit more firmly. He was freezing in the fall cold air, his legs ached and his stomach grumbled for feasts that they didn't have in a horse trip.

"My lord, do you wish to stop?" Virgil asked, being the one riding next to him, but Janus shook his head quickly.

"The quicker we arrive at the castle, the sooner I can be back at my kingdom to lead my troops. I will not delay this any longer" Janus said, firmly, tapping his horse and making it run, taking the lead over Remus, getting all the others to follow him in his now running state.

They rode for another hour before they saw a town in the distance. Janus lowered his pace and looked at Remus, waiting for their exact location.

"We are at Lilyville sir" Remus said, looking at him as they slowly made their way towards the town's entrance. "It is exactly in the frontier between the kingdoms. A good place to eat and rest. They will surely receive us nicely."

"Wonderful" Janus said, riding a bit quicker towards the town, watching as the townsfolk began to gather and bowed when they saw their king approaching. Janus made his way inside first, followed by Virgil and Remus, and then the other guards, all of them heading to the INN the town had.

Once there, their horses were taken to a warm barn with food and water, and they were given the best rooms, together with warm food and wine. Janus thanked the INN's owner and told Virgil and Remus to follow him to his room, so they could talk. Once inside, Virgil lit up the fire and Janus removed his blankets and cape, sighing to himself as he sat on the chair and reached for a goblet to drink some wine.

"This has been one of the most tiring trips I have ever done" Janus said, and silently Virgil and Remus sat down around the table with him.

"Well, we are as close as we could ever be to the castle" Virgil said, and Janus nodded, looking out of the window. "However we do still have to consider some parts of the-"

"Quiet" Janus said, standing up and walking to the window. Remus and Virgil shared a look before staring at their prince as he stared down at the busy streets and the lit up torches. "I... know this town."

"Shouldn't you know all the towns to your kingdom?" Remus asked, raising his eyebrow, but Janus rolled his eyes and looked at him annoyedly.

"I mean, I have been here before... I think. What is the name of the village again?"

"Lilyville" Virgil said, and Janus rubbed his chin, thinking about it, pushing it out from his memory. He remembered his mother talking about this little town, how it was the mark of peace between their kingdoms, but there was something else he could not remember.

He sighed when his brain didn't give him any light, and then he closed the curtains and sat down with his friends again, beginning to eat the food they had been given.

"So... the day approaches... how are you feeling?" Remus asked, with his typical curiosity, and Janus sighed deeply before biting off some of the bread.

"Numb. Irritated. Agitated. They day approaches when I am supposed to marry my future husband and king, and all I can think about are the dead soldiers in the fields... it's a nightmare, to say the least."

"But you mustn't forget this is exactly why this marriage is so important" Virgil said, firmly, so he wouldn't lose hope. "With the Beatum's army, you will end all the battles for our lands."

"I know, I know... but still doesn't make it sound any better" Janus said, shaking his head. "Marrying for troops... what a beautiful way to begin my vows."

"Well, it is surely better than 'our parents made us do it'" Remus said, smirking, and Janus almost sent him a gesture of displeasure. But he didn't. "I mean, how bad can it really be? He is sweet and kind, clearly submissive, and handsome. You can control his every move, he won't be a problem."

"If that is how you view marriage, Remus, I am scared for whoever you end up in the altar with" Janus said, shaking his head as Virgil sent Remus a killing glance. "I will do everything I have to to save my kingdom, even if it means subduing him and taking everything in my hands. But I do not wish this happens. I hope we can find an agreement and solve all our issues together."

"Even if... you don't like him?" Virgil asked, softly, lowering his head when Janus looked at him. "I mean... even if you don't love him?"

"... yes" Janus said, looking out of the window once again, sipping on his wine and sighing. "If I can't love him, at least I hope... I hope we can rule as friends."

Review #27: Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier

Next up is 1955′s Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier

Enjoyment : [4]

With the exception of a few key scenes, this movie is rather boring. Some of the imagery in the movie is charming, and a few battles scenes had a significant level of tension. Those were probably the best parts of the movie, however it was hard to get invested because of one key issue. The lead actor playing Davy Crockett played him very mellow and calm. This was probably done to make Davy Crockett seem cool and in control even in stressful situations, but the result is a very boring performance. He looks and sounds uninvested in the events happening around him, so it’s hard to get invested in his character. A lot of this seems to stem from the Davy Crockett mythology and how a ‘real man’ remains unaffected by the hardships of life. A lot of scenes dragged because of this misconception, I would really prefer a little fire behind my protagonists. I mean he barely reacts when his wife dies (off camera after having like two lines.)

Quality : [4]

This is a passable movie. Some battle scenes are well choreographed and every so often there is an interesting shot. However this movie is very dull and colorless, mostly focusing on dry mountainsides and grey swamps. For a movie about the ‘Beauty of the American Frontier’ it doesn’t do a great job showcasing said beauty. A higher color contrast and some more establishing shots could have really sold the setting. A major structure issue with this movie is the fact that it was originally aired as a three episode miniseries recut to be released as a movie. This means it feels like three short stories with little connective tissue. Also the middle section where he goes into politics feels boring when compared to the other action packed segments.

This movie is tinged with the racism and sexism of the time they were portraying, but it also contains a very toxic element that really drags the movie into questionable territory. It’s bad enough that the characters mock and murder Native Americans, but when Davy Crockett ‘gives them his word’ that they won’t lose their land it feels like malicious historical revisionism. Looking up the historical Davy Crockett, it seems he genuinely did try to fight for Native rights but the movie frames his actions as facts, and not the tragedy they turned out to be. This movie is just not interested in the struggles of Native Americans, it is interested in a comfy version of White American Mythology. The fact that Davy is sympathetic to the suffering of Natives is kinda muddled when he also shoots the ‘bad ones’ without much hesitation and we never really get to see their perspective beyond one character who isn’t given nearly enough screen time or depth.

Risk : [3]

Like I said in the previous category, this movie feels way too cozy to be trusted. The way this movie clings to safe depictions of the American ideal reminds me of Disney reaching for their security blanket. You can tell what Disney is comfortable writing when you look at a movie like this. The Americana this movie is drenched is noticeably false even for the time when it was made. On a more pointed note, despite the grim and violent tone of this movie, it just sorta... cuts away right before Davy Crockett dies and just abruptly starts playing the end credits. I think this is because the film makers either were forced to remove the scene were the protagonist dies, or they genuinely didn’t want to kill him off so they could make sequels. (spoilers they made a sequel to this movie.)

Extra Credit : [2]

This movie gets credit for portraying the White American generals as misguided fools and it at least TRIED to frame violence as a bad thing. Plus some of the music is catchy.

Final thoughts:

Wow this is a movie for cowards. Historically Davy Crockett fought against the trail of tears and was vocally outspoken against Andrew Jackson, and the version they portray in this movie comes off as kinda psychopathic if I had to be honest. He talks big about how violence isn’t the answer and he valiantly protects downtrodden minorities, but then also kills said minorities because it’s “the American way.” He literally just like... decides to go die at the Alamo just because he wants to be patriotic. This is one of those movies were you can feel Walts regressive joy behind and I think that drags down all the good aspects this movie tries to hold onto.

Disney Movies List

Ok first of all I want to make clear that english is not my first language. I therefore apologize in advance for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Please don't be too strict with me =D

I recently bought Disney+ and I plan now to watch and review every movie, Disney has ever produced or participated in it. And I tell you, this will be a hell of a trip, because my list now contains no fewer than 701 movies. That means if I watch at least one movie every day, it will take me about 2 years to see all of them. And since I will most likely not watch a movie every day, I will definitely need at least twice as long....

For the films on my list, which I marked with a cross at the end, it means that I have seen them already. However, since I last saw most of these movies in my childhood or teenage years (so at least 15 years ago), it will be interesting for me to rewatch them after such a long time. I have probably already forgotten most of the plots.

I also plan to watch them in chronological order and rank them. The movies that I don't find on Disney+ I will watch somewhere else.

Karen: Possibility of Youth. 7/10. not bad, very Karen. Got that youthful energy there

Hikari: Caliculus/Blossom Bright. Very pretty, ties into Karen’s introduction about flowers blooming so gay points. 9/10

Mahiru: Love Judgement. she’s gonna judge u with love. very Mahiru. but also not terribly flashy. 7/10

Claudine: Étincelle de Fierté, which i believes translates to something like Spark of Pride? Very French, Very Claudine, 10/10

Maya: Odette the Mavericks. Honestly just objectively hilarious tbh like yes get ur swan and swan lake ref in there but god it’s such a silly mouthful. 6/10 on naming, 11/10 for making me laugh

Junna: Jade Bow. Junna you’re the one with all the words and your BOW with  GREEN GEM ON IT is named jade bow 1/10 very boring get some Shakespeare to spice it up at LEAST cmon now

Nana: Circle Dance/Rondo. Fun, exciting, telling u she can dance circles around u when it comes to skill if she wanted to. 8/10

Kaoruko: Suisenka/Daffodil. A Flower. Kaoruko’s whole thing is flowers. so very on the nose but not terribly exciting or even Pompous like you’d expect from kaoruko. 4/10

Tamao: Scattering of Petals. more flowers PLUS the scattering of blood droplets so both pretty and metaphorically murdery, nice. 8/10

Ichie: Ichie’s Fan. what the FUCK Ichie. I thought you had imagination and knew what fun was. Why can’t you come up with a decent name. -100/10

Fumi: Kingfisher. a bird known for swooping down to scoop up prey. king fisher. Has some interesting literal and metaphorical meanings if u wanna think about it. Makes me Think and again Birb 10/10

Rui: Shooting Star. A Good Pretty Name I like it 9/10

Yuyuko: Yumin Rinmeitei which idk what it means but it Looks like an actual name and for plus points has part of the school’s name in it. 7/10 for school pride and an actual name.

The Winter Soldier escapes his captivity and kinds Tony locked up in his dragon form in a huge cell and decides he should break this poor creature out as well.The Winter Soldier could be his own personality next to Bucky, and if so he doesn't like Steve if that would come up. Ruby’s Comic ideas

Hello nerds. I mentioned wanting to make a post talking about a few ideas I have for original comics a bit ago. I’ve been looking for a more original idea to create alongside my current comic @agent-a-cpfancomic​, which is a fan series for Club Penguin, if I can work it out. (I see plenty of webcomic artists that work on two or more projects, so it’s worth looking into in my book.)

So I wanna see which idea has more people interested through a post talking a bit about a few ideas I’ve had floating around. So I hope you read under the cut and see what I have to offer! And, well, there’s a lot. 

The Playhouse

(Sorry I’m only making these sketches as visuals. There are just too many ideas to make full-on illustrations right now so these are just concept sketches.)

Genre: Dark Comedy/Horror Comedy

Format: Webcomic (or ask blog if I can’t work out the story 100%.)

Demographic: Horror/Dark Comedy fans and general edgy weirdos (like me) from around 16+

Premise: There are rumors surrounding the twilight forest not too far from the outskirts of town. Only the worst of people come in, and they rarely come out. At least, not unharmed. They say that the abandoned mansion is home to a great many things. Vampires, ghosts of former residents, demons. Whatever lives there is very defensive of their home, that’s what everyone can agree on. Everyone stays wary of the twilight forest mansion. But it’s all just silly superstition.

...Right?

Hell on Earth

Genre: Supernatural/Comedy/Drama

Format: Webcomic

Demographic: Fans of things like Good Omens and other similar heaven/hell-based stories at around 14-18+

Premise: In the battle against heaven and hell, Satan falls. The death of their king leaves the circles of hell in disarray as the new reign of the antichrist, heir to the throne, has left the demon ranks of the damned on the brink of a civil war. Hell needs re-structuring, and that includes its influence on earth. Especially the presence of... half-demon children. One of these half-demons, Ashe, is living a relatively normal life in a small town in California. Once he meets a strange new kid, Michael, the two of them learn about the side of their families they never knew.

Pretty Midnight Arrow 

(A comic reboot of an old story, Rika Luna.)

Genre: Magical Girl/Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Format: Webcomic

Demographic: Magical Girl fans (particularly fans of the more serious ones like Madoka Magica) at around 13+

Premise: Rika has never really known her place in life. Her entire life, she has shut herself off and continually dwelled on the past. A family death from her childhood she barely even remembers keeps haunting her, and she’s lost not knowing what to do in life other than isolating herself and draw. One chance encounter leads her to find her place: falling down a hill and finding herself in a house of “magical girls”. They tell her it’s destiny, and she reluctantly agrees to go into a life of magic, adventure, and needlessly flashy clothing. After time being a magical girl, she finds out it’s a little bigger than she bargained for. Say, to a galactic scale perhaps? (Magical girls.... in SPACE!) Rika and her new team have to team up to combat against a magical threat bent on corrupting magical girls and trapping them in its dark hivemind.

Dead Man’s Mask

Genre: Psychological Thriller/Horror

Format: Webcomic/Graphic Novel

Demographic: You like (fictional) murder? You like the original comic for The Mask? Here you go, baby. For ages 16-18+

Premise: Alyx is a historian and up-and-coming collector given the task of protecting and restoring a priceless “cursed” artifact: the Dead Man’s Mask. Rumor has it that it was the creation of a secret society that used it to trap the soul of one of its most violent enemies within. And if the mask attaches itself to you, it claims you as its new host. Alyx falls prey to this curse, becoming the vessel to this mask bent on bloody revenge. It will not let anyone get in its way. Alyx fights for control over her own body, but it might just be pointless.

Ghost Town Gulch

Genre: Old West/Action/Comedy/Drama

Format: Webcomic/Graphic Novel

Demographic: I think it’s pretty self-explanatory who this would interest. Age range is 12-18+

Premise: Welcome to the wildest frontier of all: Purgatory. It’s a wild, wild, afterlife. The souls of the dead live in a desert land of skeleton cowboys, sheriffs, bandits, and more. No memory of their past lives, just the fact that they are dead and need to survive in their new world. The only way out of purgatory is to either find out how you lived and died to move on... or die all over again to face the void. There’s one man who wants neither. The stoic bandit, Mad-Sun Ray. He’s just a grumpy man who wants to make a not-so-honest living when he comes across a town in peril. He’s begrudgingly roped into helping save the small town (and maybe purgatory itself) from a great threat. In hopes of a reward, of course! Definitely not out of the secret kindness of his heart. Who gave you that idea?

Cherrywood Creatures

Genre: Horror/Dark-Comedy

Format: Comic Strip (Possibly slightly ask-based)

Demographic: You like random violence and chaotic stories in funny little strips? With a little bit of cutesy spookiness to add a little flavor? This one might be for you! Ages 16-18+ (Think of it as diet The Playhouse, honestly.)

Premise: Cherrywood is the home of many cute and cuddly creatures. It is a place of fun and chaos. And needless violence. Why does the cat have a knife- Didn’t that worm just get killed? Does he remember dying? Where am I? What do they want with me? I want to get out of here, I want to go home-

Hey, something I've been wondering about Volya and Sinnoh; since the Battle Zone is apparently based off a Russian peninsula, does that make it a part of Volya?

I had to do a little looking up of stuff to know what you’re talking about exactly, buuutttt... I did consider an idea when I got up this morning, but thinking about this now.. I can expand on that idea I had!

Post-game in Volya you can unlock a good chunk of the map, this chunk would be similar to the Wild Area in Galar, but would be filled more with terrain you can explore, being able to find rare Pokemon all around. There are caves and mountains and even a permanently frozen lake that can be found at the center of a thick frostbitten forest. You should take care that you do not get lost in the forest, though. On a lighter note, you may even find some scattered houses and at least 3 new locations. A large city, a simple town, and a small village, these places are quite important.

As well.. if you are lucky.. you may find a secret hideout for Team Bespridel.

You go far enough east and you will reach a secluded little harbor town, this town is the bridge-way to the Battle Zone. You ride a ferry to the Battle Zone, it’s just the same one as it is in Sinnoh, but it’s been renovated and upgraded.

-I must stress that you cannot visit the Sinnoh region itself. You can only visit the Battle Zone island.-

At the Battle Zone you can meet some familiar faces as well as the Battle Frontier which, too, has been improved and upgraded.

Volya’s events within the timeline I would say... takes place... maybe 4 years (maybe more?) after Sinnoh’s?? So you’d definitely see some older characters and since Caitlin is no longer a part of the Castle, I’d like to think Darach has been promoted to watching over the place and becoming the Castle’s king now, instead of the Valet that he was before. You can thank Caitlin for that in person as you can find her outside talking with Darach.

Thorton has grown up, becoming a true Factory Brain and leading scientist. He is famous now and helps out Volkner with tech and electronics. He even remodeled the Battle Frontier’s buildings.

Palmer has passed down the honor to his son, Barry. He’s taught him everything he knows! Palmer is a very proud father and sits in the lobby area, carefully watching the tv screens at his son’s fine work in battling trainers.

Dahlia and Argenta are still the heads of their domains, but you may catch them wandering outside the Frontier at first. Talking to them, you may hear they are looking for and teaching some trainers in hopes to find someone to take their places soon.

The Battle Zone, as you may already know, is home to  Stark Mountain, this place is has had some construction done in recent times. Same goes with the Resort and Survival areas. Stark Mountain now holds a special place to honor the rare Lava Dome Pokemon that lives there. Sadly, you cannot catch the Pokemon, but that’s ok as you can still register it in your Pokedex via a simple plaque that reads a little about it and even shows a picture.

The Survival area and Resort area have both been expanded.

Survival Area has an expansion further up north, courtesy of the Hiker that lived on the cliff. You can reach new challengers there to further test your skills as a trainer. You get to the Battle Zone’s main locations via that new cliff path as you are traveling southward from the northern dock you arrived at.

Resort Area is now called the Resort City, having been given a remodeling into a grand hotel area, lovingly called the City Hotel, with walkways between the hotel buildings on each of the 4 floors, these walkways are modeled after the ones in Sunnyshore City by Volkner with aide from Thorton.

In the Resort City, in the middle of the City Hotel, resides a grand little home, this home is filled with marvelous furniture, including a piano. Sitting at the Piano is Sinnoh’s champion, Cynthia. She is no longer the champion by this point in time and spends her days retired, exploring the world and when she is not doing that, she is resting in her little resort home.

Talk to her and you may have the option to battle her but only if you want to.
