beach bucket is a lifeguard and loves anything and everything about the beach! he's terrible at magic and prefers swimming over flying.

A beach full of Portuguese Man-o-wars in the Azores.

Man-o-wars have long, thin tendrils that can extend 165 feet in length below the surface, although 30 feet is the average. They are covered in venom-filled nematocysts used to paralyze and kill fish and other small creatures. For humans, a man-of-war sting is excruciatingly painful but rarely deadly.

They washed up on the beach. They cannot swim. And the water carry’s them there.

Just found out there’s an island called Inaccessible Island that’s almost completely surrounded by cliffs, and one of the cliffs is called Where-the-Pig-Fell-Off, because humans can’t live there so they tried to fill the island with pigs and they all died. Oh, and the only way to get there is to travel for 7 days in a boat from Cape Town with permission from the government. There’s also an extinct volcano :)

I wouldn’t say it’s a myth, from what I’ve read most jellyfish just have venomous tentacles while some also have venomous bells to boot! if they were all venomous bells we wouldn’t have such cute things as this :)

(yes this may or may not be a picture I will draw of sun and moon at some point because THEYRE SO CUTE) in general though you are right in that we should approach every jellyfish as though they are one of the big bad poisonous babs. Even if they aren’t a venom capped jellyfish their stingers can move VERY FAST. It’s a risk you definitely shouldn’t take!!
