Gods I'm so glad I have the power to draw stupid ridiculous things. I've had two ideas in the last week for art pieces that made me cackle like a little gremlin for 30 minutes. And already, my decision to follow through on these ideas has been a great success!

It is very important to feed the silliness gremlin!!! Ze offers gifts of happiness and naturally occurring self-improvement! Should ze wither from lack of food, so shall artistic motivation and the joy I find in my craft!

I will say I think part of the reason OG Kirk isn't more popular on Tumblr is because he can't be crammed into the 'If one part of a ship is the unemotional logical one the other one MUST be the bouncy himbo sparkle softboy' cliche. Kirk can be goofy and has a good sense of humor, he teases and laughs, but speaking in Lord of the Rings terms, Kirk isn't Pippin, he's Aragorn.

Which is SO much tougher for the 'must distill every variety of character into the same 5 different people' crowd on Tumblr. There isn't an 'Aragorn' slot because 'incredibly complicated' isn't descriptive enough for cliche. Like yes, he's charming, but it's the quiet sort of charming. Yes, he's a strong athlete and a fighter, but he's fundamentally a shockingly huge nerd and spends his private time reading poetry and thinking about philosophy and what it means to be a leader. Yes, he's haunted, but he has a fundamental hope that keeps shining through. Kirk's got a serious job, and he's a serious person. He's an Adult kind of adult. He's one of the last survivors of a horrific genocide. He's killed people with his bare hands.

Spock wasn't bowled over by how bright and shiny and cuddly Kirk was. Because underneath everything, there's a fundamental sadness and loneliness to Kirk, and a simmering possibility of rage that most people would consider Abnormal. And Spock shares those qualities, though for different reasons. The thing that really shakes Spock (besides Kirk's iron sense of loyalty) is that there are times where KIRK is more coolheaded and professional than Spock is. In everyday terms, Kirk is easily and confidently emotional in a way Spock was always taught was a weakness, but when the shit hits the fan Kirk gets this shine of cold, calculating, James Bond-like brutality/practicality that not only meets Spock's Vulcan control, it will at times go PAST it. Surviving that genocide gave Kirk access to both a level of iron-willed 'do whatever is necessary to live no matter what' and a level of genuinely bloodcurdling rage that, when death is on the line, reads sometimes like a Vulcan on steroids. In a battle-type situation Kirk has absolutely looked at Spock and snapped like 'for god's sake, control yourself', and that is some whiplash a Vulcan doesn't just get OVER.

At the very start OG Kirk is already both wildly famous for and frighteningly good at being a commander, better than Spock is by miles, which forces Spock to confront his self-hate fueled 'Vulcans are better' prejudices over and over again until Spock has a starry-eyed admiration for Kirk that knocks him so hard into love that Spock's teeth rattle. Kirk isn't Some Soft Boy that grows on Famous Vulcan Spock against his will. Kirk is the most talented Starfleet officer in generations- He's Horatio Nelson, except not an imperialist asshole. Spock is (at first) just Some Science Guy who managed to nail one of the most coveted jobs in Starfleet.

Like, what is Tumblr going to do with a Kirk (who is supposed to be the bouncy soft boy half of Spirk) who looks coldly at an alien who is killing people and without hesitation goes 'I am a military man, we have a mission, we don't have time to understand motivations, kill that thing' and calmly walks off? And then Spock, (the unemotional logical one) is the one going after him going 'please, this is a thinking creature, it could be scared or hurt, think of its feelings, at least let me try to talk to it'. And like, the big lesson of the episode is KIRK being convinced by Spock to care more and be more empathetic?

Like, that's not some shit Tumblr can fit into its 'five acceptable personalities for every single ship ever'. There isn't a category for 'one is the logical one and the other one is the guy in charge on the battlefield that the men point their swords at while yelling "to the king!"'

But, it does make me a bit sad, because god, the relationship between Kirk and Spock is unique. Because Kirk is SUCH a freak. If there's a fictional personality grouping Kirk is a part of it's like Kirk, Chris Evans' Captain America, Aragorn, and nobody.

I super agree! AOS Kirk fits the bill more for the ship dynamics tumblr focuses on (and I do really love Chris Pine's performance, not half because it was what introduced me to Star Trek in the first place), but I do find TOS Kirk more intriguing because he has such layers. He's scarily competent, youngest captain in Starfleet and it's not like you get in that position by being a sunshine flower boy - he's got a streak of cold practicality that, yeah, is super apparent in Devil in the Dark. But he's also warm, loving, and physically affectionate with his closest friends, professional with his subordinates and his duties, calculating with his enemies, and overall an exceedingly intelligent individual who does not take his position and responsibilities lightly. And in terms of his relationship with Spock, it was all those things that drew Spock's respect and interest, and not (checks notes) his being a "bouncy himbo sparkle soft-boy". He's just a wonderful character <3

First of all sweetie,

let's not rate ourselves on a scale about how pretty we are! It's really degrading and I feel like you deserve so much better than that. Living in a generation where filters are oversaturated, people using AI to edit their photos, and incels with porn addictions and have never felt the touch of a woman, will call the most beautiful girl "mid". It's so understandable why one's self esteem can feel low at times. You need to change the way you talk about yourself (especially me). Beauty always start from within - as redundant as that sounds. You can't feel pretty if you're not focusing on the reason why you feel this way. A pretty soul (and self concept!) makes a prettier face. Moving on, let's get into the actual tips of a glow up 💖

Let's address the elephant in the room 🐘: you're not ugly, just acting pitiful

Have you ever wondered why you have seen those people who are considered "unattractive" or "unconventionallly pretty" by others be in successful relationships or popular with their peers? It's because they have confidence. Have you ever been attracted to someone that may not necessarily fit the beauty standards or be considered a jaw dropping model, but you thought they were cute anyways because of their personality or charm? That's exactly what I mean. You can be a pretty face or have a nice body, but have terrible self esteem. Living in California my whole life I come across this everyday. There is plenty of beautiful people here, but there is also a lot of people with no sense of humor and no offense, but have no personalities. In other words, you can be attractive, but superficial and boring.

To feel beautiful or more like a "10" even on your worst day is mainly having a good self concept. You need to think with the mindset of "I am the baddest bitch even on my worse days and nobody can make me feel different about that, not even me." Our concept can be changed, reshaped, rebuilt, morphed, etc, into any way we want it to be. Our self concept and dominant thoughts are created by our previous past experiences and what people have told us what we are. For example, if you were bullied in your youth and somebody picked on you for your features. Why would you give a fuck about what a bully thinks??? A person who humiliated and traumatized someone at a weak point in their life does not matter. Their opinion, their actions, their thoughts - doesn't matter. You can change yourself anytime you want, we are animals, we are literally mean to be apart of this cycle called life and our habits, attitudes, opinions, etc, can change at any moment. We are meant to grow and adapt. You get to decide who you are, what you feel, and how you wish people to perceive you. Nobody else. So when you repeatedly say things to people like "I'm not beautiful", they're gonna get tired of it honestly and be like "Yk what damn bitch I guess you are ugly!" because it gets tiring to hear someone complain about the same thing even when they just reassured them (again, I'm guilty of this too). So when you depend on someone to make you feel good about yourself, that's just codependency. You are also giving them the power to manipulate you. Don't do that. Be free and be independent, love yourself. It's your self esteem and you cannot be dependent on anybody else to fill that void you have within yourself.

As Katt Williams said, "It's the esteem of your motherfucking self!"

Why it's not your fault you don't 'feel" pretty

Like I said above, you are most likely a product of your surroundings. Most people are not raised by their parents to have good self esteem or to teach them how to be confident or emotionally secure. There are many environmental factors to insecurity and that it is okay if you are never 100% feeling confident about yourself. People in the media construct this ego to seem "cool" and act conceited as a way to avoid being seen as weak to society. You can be confident and also have insecurities. Confidence is just about being secure with the essence of who you are and setting boundaries when necessary with other people when it comes to that. A confident person doesn't tolerate disrespect.

"Conceited" or confident?: how to avoid confusing the two

I think the most irritating thing to me that is normalized these days is narcissism and conceited people. People will literally act boastful and cocky then say "I'm just confident". Behaving like a narcissist or saying that you are one is not cute and never will be because it's literally a personality disorder, a mental health condition. Everytime I hear this it makes me want to roll my eyes so far back into my head. Try to avoid being this person with a "God complex" because there's a difference between a person who is being loud and fake with "confidence". A real confident person makes moves in silence and is genuine with themselves. If you have to brag or put another person down to feel like hot shit, then you're not a confident person, period.

Tips to enhance your beauty

As I said before anon you are already a 10 in my eyes, but I understand how it feels to not feel pretty at times and we all have our days when we are looking "rough". Here are some self care tips I do that helps me feel pretty and pampered physically ✨️

Get some beauty sleep! This is not just a saying. When your body has time to rest it gives you time to reset & have more energy for the next day. Getting plenty of sleep helps prevent dark circles & puffy eyes as well. If you struggle with falling asleep spray lavender pillow spray, drink tea, or play asmr/soothing sounds.

Skincare & hygiene, this is such a crucial step that everyone should practice in their daily lives. All of us have different skin textures and when we neglect our skin it causes a dry, oily, or bumpy surfaces. Now skin texture is totally normal but if you notice the days where you are not washing your face frequently enough, your skin either looks dull, dirty, or you experience more pimples / acne breakouts. Not to mention how dirty we feel when our body is projecting a certain odor. You don't need to have an extravagant routine, but at least try to have about 4 hygienic products (soap, deodorant, lotion, & body spray/prrfume) and 4 skincare products (facial cleanser (I recommend double cleansing!), serum, SPF/Sunscreen, & face lotion).

Mirror work, saying affirmations in the mirror has proven to be helpful for people's self esteem & feeling more confident with their physical appearance.

Change your wardrobe! Start dressing for your body type & how your ideal self would. It might feel uncomfortable at first but you will feel so much more beautiful! You could try finding videos on tiktok of people with your body type to help (for example, if you are plus sized, you could search your desired aesthetic & find people with the same shape as you).

Detox from social media 📱, learn when it is time to take a break from your phone & engage with the real world. Scrolling for hours on your phone can be really harmful especially if you're reading negative comments or watching videos that are self depreciating.

Follow people who uplift you, not tear you down. If you are following people who obviously are negative or affect your self esteem somehow, then you do not need to be supporting them.

Make appointments! Whether that is a doctor appointment or lash, nail, or hair appointments. Take care of your mind, health, and body. You could ask your doctor what vitamins you should take or also seek a counselor/therapist to find the root of your insecurities in a safe place. Also sometimes just getting my hair or nails done makes me feel more confident!

Learn to treat yourself. Buy yourself flowers or a gift you always wanted but never received. This could be anything, it doesn't necessarily mean to spend money. For example, cooking your favorite food, having a lazy day, etc. Remember that you deserve to be happy!

Lastly, beauty spells, glamour magick, and manifestation are popular methods for people who wish to enhance their physical appearance. I do all of these myself and I always feel so hot afterwards!

1. Does it bother König that their relationship is not official? Or is he happy with the situationship? (This sounds like a stupid question, of course he’s bothered by it. Right?!?)

2. Is König a skilled lover? You said somewhere that reader can’t get satisfaction from other guys because “nobody is as good as König” but does this mean he’s experienced or does he make up for his possible lack of experience in… some other ways? Or is the good sex due to them having this crazy enemies *and* lovers thing going on?

3. Is it enough for König to shoo potential love interests away and off of her by being a hulking possessive menace, or will he still be jealous and butthurt after that? Brood silently for example? Slam doors passive-aggressively? Perhaps even start a full-on argument when they’re behind closed doors?

4. Do you have any hcs of the craziest place(s)/situation(s) they’ve had sex? Obviously because they were so horny or had to hatefuck because the other one said or did something annoying (again)

1. Not a stupid question at all! In the beginning, it does bother him, especially when he contends with the idea of her sleeping with other guys--or, horror of all horrors, dating someone else. He's also just kind of a traditional guy who wants to woo a lady, but that would require the lady in question to be wooed. At some point, though, he realizes that it doesn't matter how reluctant she is to make it "official", she's not going anywhere. Then he's just intolerably smug about the fact that deep down, she's just as attached to him as he is to her.

2. I'm glad to elaborate on this! König is less experienced than Cinnamon (which is what I'm calling her for now, it probably won't be relevant in the fic itself but I like giving my MCs callsigns/nicknames). What makes him different than the casual partners she's had before is his dedication to pleasing her, if that makes sense. I mentioned in the headcanon post that "him getting better at fucking really just means he's getting better at fucking her". (continued under cut)

I'm going to elaborate more in the fic (if it goes the way that I have it planned), but König becomes so infatuated with Cinnamon because she doesn't treat him like a weird loser to avoid. It's not really that everyone König knows or comes into contact with avoids him or treats him with contempt--he does have friends, but none that are particularly close. Cinnamon is different in that she's an easygoing person (or at least puts on a persona of being easygoing), so whenever König says or does something dubious her reaction is just the equivalent of "haha, you're weird man, but I like that!" (At least until he starts to annoy her in the best way, and then the whole enemies-and-lovers thing kicks in.) Cinnamon's been with a lot of guys who don't really care about her enjoyment or are assholes in other ways, so König treating her like a priority is new to her and also something she can't find anywhere else. And of course, the more they fuck the better he gets 😈

3. Oh, he gets very jealous and pouty for sure. He does a lot of things as a sort of revenge, like scaring off people she’s flirting with. Initially, Cinnamon doesn’t take him that seriously and just humors him, so he never gets far in terms of being mad at her. (Plenty of brooding, though.) He takes it out on her by being rough and degrading in bed, and when he realizes she isn’t interested in anyone else anymore, he’s a lot more relaxed. At that point nothing she does can upset him because he knows she always comes back to him. By contrast, Cinnamon starts getting agitated because 1. She never intended on having a boyfriend 2. She starts to realize she’s fed a very dangerous beast. I'm probably going to write about their first real fight, and it is messyyyyy.

4. The riskiest is definitely a random utility closet on campus. He probably pulled her in there after she spent an entire lecture brushing his thigh with her foot and didn't anticipate just how immediate the consequences would be >:)

I'm also toying with the idea of him fucking her on someone else's bed, specifically someone she used to hook up with 🤭 They locked the door, but suffice to say that guy knows who she belongs to after that.

I wanted to write out a more condensed version of the Garashir thoughts I accumulated through my read of a stitch in time, because it really is driving me slightly nuts. so here we go!

I think my basic takeaway is something like: if you look at what's actually on the page as dialogue and not just the story garak tells himself internally of what has happened between them (which is basically 'I've fucked up somehow and I don't know how or why but something's broken here and I messed it up; I have nothing left of interest to offer him', pretty clearly going over it in his head like he would trying to figure out what he did wrong when tain locked him in a closet as a child), you kind of get the feeling that julian doesn't know what to do with the way garak flinches away from him whenever he tries to get closer or offer help. (which like. not for nothing but that's actually the dynamic between garak and mila too, but with garak's role switched to the mostly-resigned seeker of contact rather than the flincher-away. we all know garak’s daddy issues but I think the mommy issues at work are doing some gulf stream shit under the surface as well lol.) so julian starts hesitating in seeking out contact in the first place, nevermind asking him for anything more when garak's also clearly falling apart mentally and seems unreachable in the first place. and Julian also doesn't want to mess this up and make something already fraught and painful even worse; he still wants to help! he always wants to help, that’s just who he is, he keeps trying through the whole book. and when garak mostly-gently but reflexively and firmly rebuffs him each time he tries… after a while it seems like he doesn't think he's welcome, or that he's imposing and garak doesn't really want him there — that he's just humoring him or something when he does let him in, just like garak was so afraid palandine was doing with him in the beginning. it’s only in the final scene between them that garak invites him in and asks for help on his own initiative. 

“I’m pleased you stopped by”/”No, you’re not,” he said quietly. ‘I really won’t take up any more of your time’. “You see, this is so difficult, Garak. I know what a private person you are, and how you detest people meddling in your affairs….”. “Your holosuite program. The one that allows me to visit the traumas of my childhood.”/“I hesitate to suggest this, remembering how you reacted the last time … but, yes, I feel it could make a difference,” the Doctor gamely admitted. (Julian I love you so much. Eternal optimist hours. Keep it up it’s going to get you spectacularly laid if you just get on that shuttle to Cardassia.) All these moments do not read to me as someone who has no interest in continuing or deepening this relationship (maybe the opposite, in fact), it gives me more the sense of someone who feels he keeps putting his foot in his mouth and making the damage worse no matter what he tries, and not knowing what else to do but to back off to save them both more pain. (he also needs help and support, but he’s not going to go ask it of someone who’s clearly in no position to give it (on account of visibly falling apart even more than usual). And also because the good doctor is such a hypocrite lol ‘of course you’re worth asking for and receiving help!! I’m just fine tho don’t worry about me *light is slowly dying in his eyes behind the smile as the seasons go on*’. Stiff upper lip to the point of psychological breakdown-off (cross-cultural, competitive))  

and the most painful thing to me is that after their disastrous tea party in garak’s shop, at the very least, garak clearly realizes he's hurting julian by keeping him out (But as to the question of which group suffers the most…), and he desperately wants to stop hurting him but he just doesn't know how!!! he's never learned how to close the distance! he's been locked completely into himself by the way tain shaped him and doesn't know how to get out of the closet so to speak yet! ('...am I not. *supposed* to pretend to be functional and have no needs. is that not like. my entire job interpersonally. I am confused.') it’s something Tolan already observes in him and grieves over when he comes home from Bamarren, and the years since have uh not helped with that particular problem lol. for all he longs for it, intimacy is like a hot stove to him; he can’t help but reach out, and he can’t help but flinch away when he actually comes into contact with it. almost the worst part is that I think Julian can tell some of that too and sort of understands it/doesn't hold it against him, and it just makes it even sadder, somehow. they both move so carefully around each other through this, because even in the middle of all that they really do try to be kind to each other the best they know how and it fucks me up so bad. which makes it even crazier and more touching that all of asit is basically garak processing his shit until he can get to the last line honestly — 'You're always welcome, Doctor'. he pulled a full lizardly mr darcy in the post-apocalypse here, he got around to starting to fix himself at least partly to be in a place where he could be able to meet Julian in the ways he needs if he wants that from him. And that drives me utterly insane thanks for asking!!! WILD BOOK COMPLETELY UNHINGED 300+ PAGE DECLARATION OF LOVE AND INTIMACY WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL

Could we have a little more Estonia and Finland? I just love the way you draw them ^v^

Finland and Estonia's relationship is something so special, and any interaction they have makes me full of joy. But maybe it's one of those things only Finns and Estonians understand - these two connect so much more with each other than they do with the rest of the Nordics or Baltics

Some of my random views on their relationship are under the cut

Finland and Estonia have known each other for as long as they can remember. These two cultures have always interacted and traded; after all, they only have 80 km (~50 miles) of sea between them. And I am not opposed to the idea that they're actually related! They have a lifelong bond and have been with each other through some of their worst moments. Sometimes Finland and Estonia feel like only they truly understand one another, and everyone else is an outsider in their world. There is a lot of love, validation, and support between them!

Estonia should be older than Finland, and he has a lot more life experience than him. In their youth, Estonia was the protective one with great skills, who didn't fear other nations around them, while Finland was too young to understand what was happening. I would argue Estonia can be even more intimidating than Finland if he really wanted to be. Even Sweden didn't dare to mess with him (at first). Estonia was a wild one back in the day, never letting go without putting up a fight, but since then, he has become more calculative. Simply put, Estonia is the brain, while Finland is the brawn. You can see it in the way they approach things, too; Estonia is more knowledgeable but careful due to his experiences, making sure to plan things way up ahead and taking a long time to trust others. Meanwhile, Finland is more trusting and stays neutral in many matters. Because of his people-pleasing personality, Fin just doesn't want to be enemies with anyone. Estonia, however, finds it impossible to sustain. These two have been under the same rule twice, but their experiences have been very different

Finland values their relationship highly and spends a lot of time with Estonia, though Estonia sometimes sees Finland as a little too dependent on him. Finland can be tiresome at times and doesn't always understand Estonia's worries, but Estonia knows Finland loves him deeply and would do anything for Estonia, even against orders. There have been times when their leaders haven't approved of their cooperation, yet they have always found sneaky ways to support each other

They're poets, just like the rest of the Baltic Finnic people, and music plays a huge part in their life, especially for Estonia. Estonia has an amazing singing voice and produces music in his free time, but Finland is more skilled with lyrical writing and instruments. Their "alien" status among other Europeans and dying roots have driven them to cooperate more together to preserve their heritage and traditions

They share similar lifestyles and common interests, to the point that they can almost read each other's minds. They both have a great sense of humor and a lot of insider jokes. Estonia and Finland are both silly and curious, constantly getting stupid ideas they just have to try out. Estonia is very clever and a bit of an inventor. These guys have come up with the wildest usages for old vehicles and electric scooters. Speaking of cars, these two are crazy (but skilled) drivers. Both countries are known for their cold-nerved WRC champions, so it's a hobby that they share. They're daredevils who want to go fast on rural forest roads or frozen lakes. To them, it's a ton of fun - for others, it's a nightmare. Estonia and Finland can turn anything into a challenge, like throwing various items, seeing who can stay in the sauna for the longest, or competing about wife-carrying. They have a lot of competitiveness but in a healthy way. Fin and Eesti are happy to compliment and cheer each other on. All they wanna do is have fun! (While Norway and Sweden will argue and diss one another mercilessly over the smallest of wins)

They're both party-loving people who have get-togethers all the time, usually involving alcohol and sauna. When they're intoxicated, they can begin to understand one another, which is freaky. When they hang out together, they speak a weird mixture of each other's languages, switching between Finnish and Estonian and, in some cases mixing some other language in there too. And no one else has any idea what is going on. Finland especially finds Estonia's language hilarious, and they get into some awkward misunderstandings from time to time

THEY'RE INSEPARABLE BEST FRIENDS, END OF DISCUSSION. THE IDEAL AND PURE MASCULINE FRIENDSHIP! Plus, FinEst literally says "finest"! I posted recently re: an assertion that Dean is attracted to underage girls (based primarily on his comments about teen girls in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" & "After School Special"). OP's angle was roughly: "Dean could have pedophiliac attractions as a result of having been sexually-assaulted in childhood."

While that's a reasonable-enough take, I personally disagree. I don't think Dean is attracted to teen girls. IMO, a close reading strongly suggests that what he's doing in those scenes can be boiled down to "crude humor attempting to gross out Sam."

But I also wanted to talk about Dean's general demeanor toward young women, because we see a fair amount of interaction between him & teenage girls, including Claire, Krissy (from "Adventures in Babysitting") & Marie (from "Fan Fiction"), and it's markedly different from how Dean approaches adult women. With adult women — up to & including grandmothers (S14:E13 "Lebanon," S11:11 "Into the Mystic") — Dean flirts the way he breathes. And it's explicitly acknowledged that his flirtation doesn't necessarily indicate that he wants to sleep with the women he's batting his eyelashes at (as Pamela says, "You don't want me... You just like to flirt").

This is just how Dean's most comfortable interacting with women. Frankly, I have to imagine he's not even conscious of his behavior most of the time. (Some of this style of interaction can probably be traced back to a lack of female role models/parental figures/etc. during crucial developmental years of his childhood. But some of this is simply because Dean really enjoys sex — and thinks everyone should enjoy it — and he's just extremely comfortable with himself in that particular context.)

But how Dean interacts with adult women is not at all how he interacts with teenage girls who end up in his social sphere. There's no casual flirting with Krissy or Marie, no smoky innuendo with Claire. And when Jody brings up the "sex talk" over dinner with Claire & Alex, Dean doesn't leer or snark — he's ready to bolt from the room. The way he treats these girls, it's clear they fall into the category of "kids," not "women," and that that's not a sexual category for him. Instead, Dean seems to slip into a more familial role. The way he interacts with Krissy & Claire isn't terribly dissimilar from how he treats Ben (adjusted for age) or Jack (once he finally warms up to him). [Although he leans into more of a "cool older brother" vibe than a "dad" vibe with the girls — likely sensing that they'd resent/find patronizing any attempt to be a substitute father — whereas he gives off more "dad" energy with Ben & Jack.]

Ultimately, we have tons of evidence that Dean cares about kids, treats them with respect in their 1-on-1 interactions, & has a generally protective attitude towards them. And everything I've seen suggests that this treatment is applied equally to boys and girls, younger kids and older ones.

(Tangential, but: Honestly, one of the things I love about Dean is the respect he has for women despite the way he grew up. A lot of men who come of age in a "boy's world" see women as almost some kind of alien creatures, beautiful but unknowable, desirable but not really people — not in the way it matters. Dean might not have a particularly nuanced understanding of gender in society, & he's definitely absorbed some misogynistic tendencies from the world around him — who hasn't? — but he's got the basics right. He's starting from a place of "women are people." With a lot of guys, it feels like even if they get there, they still have to stop & recalibrate sometimes, consciously reset their assumptions. But with Dean, it just feels like his default position. Maybe it's because he cares so much more about the hunter vs. civilian divide, maybe it's something else... IDK. But that's just the sense I get from him: that this is second nature.)

Hi I just wanted to also throw in my support and let you know that I'm sorry you're dealing with people being horrible. Art is meant to be whatever you want it to be and just because you like something in fiction doesn't mean you like it in real life or are some monster indorsing literal crimes (That's why it's called FICTION). You have an amazing art style and a great sense of humor and even though there are some things I don't like that you make I know all I have to do is skip them. People need to understand the difference between participating in ways to limit real threats real threats (like refusing to consume media made by proven abusers and crinimals) and functionally conservative censorship (even if they don't want to admit that is what they are doing) just because they do not like something or it makes them uncomfortable (especially when that censorship many times comes with unsubstantiated accusations and literal death threats). I'm not one to have the mind set of 'back in my day things were better!' because no they weren't, but one thing my generation did do right was learn how to block and ignore things that they were uncomfortable with instead of deciding that the best route to take is literal cyber attacks (I hate calling it 'bullying' since that doesn't even cover half the horrible stuff I've seen people say and do) on people to the point of wanting them to kill themselves over literal fictional characters in art.

You’ve made a lot of great points, and I agree with you wholeheartedly! An artist has their freedom to draw and post whatever they want, and the viewer has their freedom to look at it or block it and forget it. If you don’t like it or don’t get it, it’s not for you to get – it’s plain and simple like that.

And yes, there ARE ways to limit irl threats and problematic situations! There are groomers, a lot of them are in fandom spaces, but these folks are looking at the wrong people. And they know it damn well, their goal isn’t actually to bring justice or make someone feel safe: if that was the case, they would just have a list of tags to block and that would suffice nicely.

Also you’re right, things weren’t better back then, but people really did seem to mind their business and ignore/block stuff they don’t want to see more often. And even when artists/writers/people in general received shit from others, it was understood by everyone than people doing this stuff were just straight-up trolls whose entire goal was to mess with others. But nowadays people who harass, bully, threaten and send “kys” messages somehow try to make it seem like they are morally superior to their victims??? Which makes them even more closely resemble pro-censorship conservatives. Honestly, it’s stupid how similar these people sound to some of the 70 y.o. fools who run our country and the censorship laws they create. It’s like verbatim sometimes. Sorry, I digress.

ok, tng update time. i'm quite behind! monday we did "deja q," tuesday we did "a matter of perspective," and then wednesday was "yesterday's enterprise."

deja q: NOT as bad as i feared but still not great. turning q into a human was a fantastic idea because in general it helps facilitate empathy when you see a character suffer, which worked a little on me, and then also i greatly enjoyed seeing him suffer because he was so annoying before, lol. guinan and worf kicking him when he was down were the best <3

another smart choice was to have data be the only one who had any sympathy for him - precisely because data's "feelings" ""can't"" be hurt and he's less likely to hold grudges. also, because data is wonderful and it's easy to get behind his cause of reforming q into some kind of functional being

AND it was good that the first time q felt shame it was because data almost died for his ungrateful fucking ass...correct response

unfortunately i still have many problems. during that section right before data's sacrifice move, all of the goodwill q generated by being fun to laugh at kind of evaporated because he was being annoying

SECONDLY, i have realized the reason i dislike q is because his main two personality traits have aged horribly. firstly is the "randumb~ XD" humor (the mariachi band at the end of this ep, the random napoleon soldiers from the other ep, his various costumes...). i think the only person who could ever do that kind of humor well was robin williams and they didn't cast him as q and also he's dead now, so knock it off. his second personality trait is that he's smarter and more powerful than anybody else in the room which he (and the people writing him) seems to think is a license to be an asshole to them, as long as it is charming assholery. think t*ony st*rk, house, bbc sh*rlock. this of course is a deeply flawed premise to begin with, but he doesn't even do it WELL. nothing about his assholery is charming. specifically i am thinking of all the "worf is dumb because he's a big brutish klingon" jokes, which are for sure fantasy racism and border on ACTUAL racism, because they're derivative of horrible antiblack stereotypes. not that q is the only source of this kind of stuff aimed at worf, but it's really damning that it's ALWAYS the first thing out of his mouth and played for laughs and made his "but worf i'm a klingon at heart too!" bit extra unfunny

anyway, bringing in a SECOND q to praise him for his "selfless" act is eeehh considering one q is already one too many and the act wasn't even that selfless. it would've been better if he said the only reason he was doing it was for data, specifically, so he could stop feeling shame - that's more genuine than trying to get me to believe he'd give himself up for that ship of people even if really what he was mostly doing was committing suicide.

nonetheless i DID really enjoy getting to see data laugh at the end. GOOD for him <3 also lmao, the moon is falling, so true. JUST like majoras mask

a matter of perspective: the one thing i don't understand here is the bit where picard is a horrible painter and then data insults his art. like yes it was funny but i thought it would have something to do with the main plot. riker sees events this way and that lady sees them this way. not unlike in the art room where everyone interpreted the nude model in a different manner!

ALSO, WHY IS THERE A NUDE MODEL. does that woman not live and work on this starship. does she not have to command respect from her coworkers the rest of the time. they didn't even do this in the holodeck where that sort of thing would have made sense!! the one time you WANT the holodeck around...

Hi I was hoping to get a Match Up Romantic or platonic doesn't really matter to me maybe both!

So my personality it depends on who I'm around. People who are energetic and really loud I'll tend to keep a more motherly role. But if I'm around people who are more mature in nature I'll be the loud and stupid one. But either way I have like a sarcastic possibly rude sense of humor but joking, if you know what I mean? Still pretty laidback though in a go with the flow and it'll all work itself out type of way.

I do tend to make friends pretty easily I'm the type to talk and ask for help from people when others would be too scared to, but I'm a complete wall flower when it comes to large social events or groups of people.

As for hobbies I really like Detective/Mystery and RPG games though unfortunately I'm not very good at them but I do have really good luck, so a win is a win. Anything I can do while staying in a warm comfortable spot I am good with, I suck at physical activity and have never played a sport. I do sleep a lot too but you start to hate it after a while because I can sleep a whole day away, wake up, be sad that I missed out on a whole day because I was sleeping, still sleep through the entire night and wake up tired in the morning, like how?. Other than that I spend my time watching TV or scrolling through Tumblr aka nothing special. I'm sure there are other things I'm fond of doing that I can't think of rn. Really I'll try anything as long as I like the person I'm with enough.

As for my type I don't really think I have one when it comes to personality I'm pretty adaptable like said before, but I think because of that I can have some pretty weird personality shifts the type you wouldn't notice at first unless you're close with me, so I think I'd want someone who is able to understand that or it could get a lil complicated. I would also want kids one day so I wouldn't want someone whose goals collide with that. I also have trouble being around overly enthusiastic or happy folk. (if romantic)

Btw, do you have any reliable sources to learn about autism and such? I learnt recently that I may be autistic (self-diagnosed but the results speak for themselves) and I really want to know more about it

I'm also self-diagnosed! A lot of my information has come from other autistic people I've made connections with, as well as some websites like spectrumnews or additudemag - though these sites I simply used as a springboard for more in-depth research I did during my psychology and sociology classes using peer reviewed papers and studies. It's been a while since I did my own research, however, so I no longer have links to the papers I used :( The good news is that Google has a specific search engine for research papers here, if dense research papers are your speed!

And I would LOVE to give more information on autistic genshin characters! This is a bit of a long one, so I'll stick my explanations under a read more!

Albedo and Shenhe are kind of obvious imo, they have the classic "low empathy" thing going on (which I find that to be such a misnomer, autistics don't have low empathy we just express it differently), and struggle to understand and express emotions. Albedo uses art and alchemy to try and understand the world around him while Shenhe tries to find logical explanations for the concept of friendship.

Cyno is one of my favorite examples! He is not very expressive, he has an intense sense of justice, he is fiercely loyal to those he considers friends, and the entire reason he tells such bad jokes is because he recognizes his shortcomings and wants to be a better leader to the other Matra. He knows jokes can help ease tension and build morale, but he doesn't have the same sense of humor as most other people and tends to assume their lack of laughter is from a lack of understanding so he over-explains them a lot.

Tighnari's special interest is botany and medicine! He also has a strong sense of justice and left the akademiya to pursue what he believes to be a just and worthy cause. He has a tendency to get frustrated with people who don't understand him and he's protective of the people he's taken into his care. He's not exactly the Too Expressive kind of autistic, but he is more expressive than Cyno - who, btw, he is an expert at reading and understanding even when Cyno doesn't speak. In the 3.2 archon quest, he says something about Cyno seeming more lonely than usual, despite Cyno's demeanor and expression seemingly never changing.

Alhaithammmmm I love him he's just like me fr fr. Another person with a strong sense of justice, and he has a need for things to make sense at all times. If he doesn't understand it, he'll keep digging until he does, no matter what and the main reason he helps you in the archon quest is because of his own curiosity. His sense of humor strikes me as very autistic, too, but in a distinctly different way than Cyno's is. He is INCREDIBLY blunt, literally says "I do what I want" more or less, and is very adamant about the fact that "you can't save everyone."

Nahida is tricky because I know a lot of people will say that she is the way she is because she was locked up for 500 years, but I don't see that as a valid explanation. She has the ability to enter peoples' dreams and frequently ventured into the world in Katherine's body, and had the means to observe and learn about human behavior - something she spent 500 years doing. And yet it seems she's learned barely anything because she tends to try and turn emotions into logical reasoning and it doesn't work that way. During the archon quest, she gets confused by the traveler's response to things multiple times because she'd predicted a different outcome based on a logical inference she made using data collected from humans over 500 years. This is how she perceives the world and processes new information, almost like a computer. Sounds VERY autistic to me.

Diluc is, again, a character that struggles to express himself emotionally and has a strong sense of justice - that's a recurring theme in Genshin I noticed. He consistently does heroic things but does not see himself as worthy of being called a hero because of past mistakes, and struggles to reconcile his feelings in regards to Kaeya because of this sense of justice i.e he loves Kaeya and misses his brother, but can't forgive him for lying. (Or for when he chose to come clean, which honestly is very fair because that was like the worst possible moment to do so)

"Ok, but Razor was raised by wolves, so of course he struggles socially, etc etc etc!" Boring, lame, dumb take. Razor was, and still is, taught by Lisa very regularly. He struggles to articulate himself and speak not because he doesn't know how, it's just hard for him. When you put him in your teapot one of the first conversations you can have with him involves him expressing a desire to get better at speaking regularly and he asks you to help him practice, it's very sweet tbh. He is socially anxious and struggles to express himself.

The more I think about Klee the more I realize she's probably both autistic and has adhd. Her special interest is bombs, she has a habit of breaking rules even though she knows exactly what will happen if she does, and she's a little hyperactive. It's hard to say exactly whether all of that is both or just one because she's young, but I say both.

Yanfei! My gorl! Special interest is law and crime, has a strong sense of justice, she uses her understanding of law and civil code to express herself, is a little socially inept (but what adeptus isn't) but thrives when she meets people she meshes well with - like Yelan or Shinobu!

I know none of this was Mihoyo's intent, stuff like this rarely is, but I revel in finding bits of myself in the media I enjoy nonetheless!

You said that before Admin, Ludwig has contained Krulu after his escape, and then Admin appeared and became vessel, but how human ended up meeting Ludwig. The only one we know is close friend with Ludwig and has close access to humans is Fasma.

How Admin meets Krulu + Ludwig

Ludwig and Admin actually met in rather simple ways. Your life was still normal back then, you were just a human going about your daily life, the thought of ancient gods didn't cross your mind and you didn't see very many monsters where you lived. You met the wrath demon through online means, simple chatting with someone who happened to be in the same community group as you. You both played the same games, he was exceptionally good at them, so you wanted to be on his teams naturally.

A friendships unfolds as the two of you find you have similar tastes in humor and are actually a little lonely. This was a bond that was slowly, carefully, inching its way into a relationship over the handful of times you two physically met up.

Until shit hits the fan that is. :)

Let me explain something in brief terms here- Ludwig has two siblings, Mervin (Merv) and Obadiah (Obie), each one of them always appears to have their eyes closed. This is because his particular lineage of monster has strong powers connected to the eyes (which is common in demon monsters, if you recall Santi's abilities). As the middle child, he actually didn't get the shit end of the stick for once. Whenever he opens even just one of his eyes, Ludwig gets to both immobilize the people he's staring at and see these very wavy, distorted rifts in the fabric of reality. Tangible entities that only he, his siblings and some other handful of monsters can both perceive and use to travel at high speeds between different locations. He's got a small map with certain rifts pinned down across the world for personal use.

Well, it just so happens that our oblivious demon boy finds one particular rift tucked away in a nook, that allows him to access the nothingness in which Krulu and other entities are trapped. It was a mistake, more than likely. This "dimension" of sorts should be inaccessible to all except Siadar. Imagine his initial distress, and growing curiosity, as Ludwig finds himself being able to traverse in and out of this dark limbo. He makes the mistake of assuming it is barren, since nothing approaches him while he's there and all that's ever heard are noises too ambiguous to tell if someone's actively there or not. The nothingness is populated, it's just that the creatures there have learned to be silent and subtle, so as to not alert the famished god that traverses its dirty ground restlessly. Ludwig not only makes the mistake of letting out noises but also carrying a light source with him, however insignificant it may be in the face of such thick darkness. Furthermore, he returns to it regularly, intent on discovering why it exists.

Krulu, at this point vastly feral due to lack of stimulus and perpetual hunger, is alert enough to pick up on the several glimpses of undamned flesh traversing through this pocket prison regularly. And at first, his fogged brain doesn't think of anything else but the possibility of food. Real meat. Something that squeals in pain, makes noise, looks different, something to both fill his stomach and feed his malnourished senses. A toy. A meal. Something. It's only a matter of time before Ludwig is caught. By the time realizes he's being hunted, it's already too late.

In a moment of striking lucidity, though not without some previous inflicted trauma, Krulu realizes that Ludwig is of much more use to him than just a meal. Granted, he may be a monster, therefore an unfit host, but if the higher could still stuff himself inside Ludwig for just long enough to catch a ride out, he could fix that in no time. So, essentially, Ludwig is threatened into smuggling Krulu out the nothingness (kind of like how you'd smuggle a bag of coke up your ass). Now, obviously, the higher can't stay in Ludwig's body for too long or the demon will die, eventually. And Krulu can't really expose himself on Earth without a host to muffle his presence, it's too risky. So what happens is that Ludwig captures humans that catch Krulu's interest and transfers him over to them.

They were never strong enough to hold him.

Krulu is old, "voluminous" and heavy. He's complex, thick, corrosive. Most humans can't handle a being like him. After a while, all his hosts would start to deteriorate, blisters forming all over their bodies, organs liquefying, suffocating, limbs twisting out of place. They suffered horrible deaths, even short lengths of contact would leave permanent, severe damage. There comes a point where Ludwig loses all hope, and frankly, he's not enjoying the fact that he's bringing about the death of what must amount to hundreds of humans. He feels himself getting stronger as a wrath demon because of his increasing kills, but by no means were those dignified victories. Lud wasn't fighting these humans fair and square, he was slaughtering them mercilessly for the unhinged and increasingly frustrated god within him. Every second spent with Krulu was a special type of torture, feeling their claws scrape at Ludwig's brain, trying to hold onto his body desperately- Hearing that incessant murmuring and getting blasted with thoughts that aren't his, memories too intense to process, sentiments he can't digest. Ludwig was dying. And he had come to terms with it, he was suffering for his stupidity.

All this time, the monster had given you nothing but radio silence, so it only made sense that you'd send him a text just to check in. Well, it's that same text that jolted Ludwig into remembering you, which then prompted Krulu to flicker through all the demon's memories of you and determine that you would be their next attempt at a vessel. Naturally, Ludwig was not on board. Everyone up until that point had died horribly, he expected the same to happen to his friend/crush. No matter how angry he got, Lud couldn't hope to stop Krulu, and so he was forced to betray you. To establish contact with you and force a banished, clearly demented god into your body.

Ludwig was there for every second of the beginning of your relationship with Krulu. He remained when you convulsed, cried and tore your throat screaming through the pains of welcoming them. He remained when you cursed him to fates worse than death, when you swore you'd kill him with your bare hands for what he had damned you to. He persisted when you and Krulu got into disagreements, when you had trouble detailing the modern world to this old entity, when you got panic attacks from the erratic changes of your biology- Through thick and thin, essentially.

This monster saw the start of your madness, of your slow but genuine descent into infatuation with Krulu. He saw their taste for blood and punishment seep into your very bones. He sat there and helped Krulu destroy you, make of you the perfect lesser, the perfect devotee. And at the same time that it crushed Ludwig inside, it was either that or let you die.

In the end, he got a reward of his choosing for being of aid to the higher and their goals. For getting him the perfect vessel. Ludwig chose the ability to better control his wrath, and consoles himself with that gained ability whenever he thinks about what he did to you.

Because even if you thank Ludwig for introducing you to Krulu, for "bettering your life", Lud still feels like he betrayed you.

So here's some of my casting for my Sonic/Star Wars au

Sonic as Anakin: I know some of you may be thinking, "Hey, maybe Knuckles should be Anakin because he became Enerjak, like how Anakin becomes Vader! Or Shadow since he's the tragic one!" But I think Sonic suits the role just a bit more with how much both of them care about their friends and loved ones. Plus, Sonic has been shown to have a bit of a dark streak too, so I thought it was a good fit. I'd say in this au, he's a bit more easygoing and not as quick to anger as Anakin is, but when he actually gets mad, you don't wanna mess with him. Foreshadowing his eventual turn to the Dark Side. (Also for when he becomes Vader, I was thinking Sonic would become Neo Metal Sonic or something like that.)

Knuckles as Obi Wan: This was among one of the harder casting choices, but I think it still fits pretty well. Both are pretty stoic and by the book, and both also have a pretty witty sense of humor. He is a bit more stern than Obi Wan, though. Stil, his bond with Sonic is still pretty brotherly like with Anakin and Obi Wan, only Sonic and Knuckles are a bit more sarcastic with each other but still care about each other. Which is why it breaks Knuckles' heart when has to fight his brother to death on Mustafar.

Tails as Ahsoka: This was honestly one of the easier choices in casting for me. It came to me when I imaged Ahsoka's duel with Vader in Rebels but with Sonic and Tails. So I thought, "Hey, Anakin and Ahsoka are like siblings, so why don't I apply that with Sonic and Tails?" And yes, like Anakin and Ahsoka, Sonic and Tails are very close in this au, becoming like brothers as Sonic takes him under his wing. Sonic sees Tails as a little brother and Tails sees Sonic as a big brother, they are still the cosmic truth. However, unlike Ahsoka, who is at first overconfident and learns to be more cautious, Tails is a bit of the opposite. Starting off as too cautious and timid, but becomes more confident in himself and his abilities under Sonic's tutelage. Sonic's behavior also definitely rubs off on Tails, taking after his carefree attitude. Which makes it especially heartbreaking for both of them when Tails decides to leave his brother and the Order behind.

Shadow as Rex: This was another of the harder decisions when it came to casting. I at first thought about casting Knuckles for this role, but decided to go with Shadow instead after remembering the Shadow androids from his solo game. Then I decided that the Shadow androids would be in place of the clones and one thing led to another and I ended up casting Shadow as Rex. In this au, he is very loyal to Sonic and very much respects him, but he and Tails still like to tease him sometimes, much to Sonic's annoyance. Shadow, like Knuckles, is at first very strict and stoic, opting to follow orders to the letter. But overtime, he does slowly learns to make his own decisions. Not that it'll matter when Order 66 is issued.

Sally Acorn as Padme: Another hard choice in casting as I couldn't really decide whether to cast her or Amy in this role. Was this a good casting choice? Please let me know. I picked Sally since she has probably the most in common with Padme. Both are political leaders, both are the love interests of Sonic/Anakin, and both are good friends with the rest of the cast. And yes, Sonic and Sally are married in secret in this au as attachment is still forbidden in the Order. The only difference is that only a select few people know about their marriage. (Ie, only Sonic's most trusted friends like Tails and Shadow. Knuckles knows about them too, but doesn't say anything about it as even though it goes against the Jedi code, he knows Sonic and Sally are happy together, so he decides to keep quiet about it.)

And that's all the casting I have so far! Let me know who else should play who. I've got a few casting ideas but nothing quite concrete yet.

Why I love Stizzy (or Gentlehands, if you're fancy)

Few days ago someone asked Stizzy Steddyhands and Edizzy shippers why they shipped these pairings, and I wrote the following. OP of that post never responded to the many people who wrote out thoughtful replies, and I just now saw some hateful vitrol someone was sent for shipping stizzy, so let me share with you all what i wrote on why I love stizzy:

I have to start by pointing out people will start shipping things for different reasons. Shipping is always going to be a different strokes situation, we all interpret things differently and want different things from fiction. i can explain my own tastes, but there's no guarantee i can get you to... well, get it. Like I can wax poetic about how much i love garlic, but if i'm talking to someone who hates the taste of garlic what i say isn't going to change how garlic tastes, y'know? We're tasting the same garlic with different tongues.

So for me the foundation on which most of my ships are built is humor. If i find their dynamic (or the idea of their dynamic in the case of two separate ships of characters who have never interacted in their canons) funny, i'm more likely to start shipping it, and then i'll potentially get very obsessive and read far too into it (see: icon.) Now for me, stizzy (or gentlehands if you're fancy) still exists mostly in a place of humor, which makes sense with canon because this is a comedy show. I've gotten intense about it in the sense that I've read into the way the show has depicted their interactions and i think they're sexually charged.

if you're looking at it from a certain angle, it's pretty easy to read Izzy and Stede as two guys who are horny for each other and mad about it. I made a whole post about Izzy having a reluctant crush on Stede, and then another whole post about Stede being horny on sight for Izzy, and then I made a whole* ass porn fic that was just a not-so-cleverly disguised meta on the previously mentioned Izzy-has-a-crush-on-Stede reading.

*ok technically 1/3rd ass porn fic because i've only posted the first of three chapters, and, look, i swear i've been meaning to update, but then i got really distracted by... *glances at icon* sorry DX (UPDATE: I am going to post chapter 2 on January 31st or so fucking help me.)

To summarize/build on the links: there was a lot of sexual tension in Izzy and Stede's first encounter. If we're working with the stabbing=sex metaphor we can read it as Stede sticking his dick in Izzy's face and making him submit. Stede has been established to be obsessed with pirates, and Izzy is the first cool pirate in charge of things we see Stede encounter, and Stede is so fucking hype about how it went that it helps him get over killing the first badminton twin (at least until it gets brought up again.)

And from then on the way Stede acts towards Izzy is far more aggressive than he treats any other character, even though the aggression right out of the gate at Jackie's bar is frankly undeserved. I think the aggression is Stede's misplaced arousal that he is not yet able to recognize (honestly if stizzy became canon it could be a matter of Ed undid Stede's obliviousness to his romantic love for men, and Izzy undoes Stede's obliviousness to his sexual desire for men.) Stede's an improv guy and he's unintentionally doing a "yes, and" flirtation with Izzy and matching Izzy's "badass pirate" energy because he finds it sexy.

Meanwhile Izzy can be read as pretty submissive, and in that first encounter Stede sticks a knife in his face and makes him submit to his demands. Like at the end of their first interaction Izzy doesn't even look mad (considering the anger we've seen from Izzy in the following episodes) he almost looks a little amused. Then Izzy tells Stede "this isn't over" and Stede responds "good because i kind of enjoyed it." like they're planning a second date or some shit! We don't see Izzy get truly annoyed at Stede until Ed shows interest in him. I think Izzy thought of Stede as a hot one off adversary he was gonna [REDACTED] while thinking about that night and then he wakes up the next morning with post-nut clarity and new orders to go find Stede and bring him to Blackbeard. Then suddenly Izzy is pretty pissy about Stede Bonnet.

As for how i envision them in the show's future... i mean this is fanon content and again, see: icon, i very much do not ship things solely on their strong basis in canon. i start shipping things based on funny vibes and then work backwards from there. like, for 18 years now i've shipped two characters whose closest interaction was that they stood next to each other for the duration of a single chapter. I don't need to think a ship would work in canon for that ship to work for me.

Also how close a ship will get to being canon is just not the metric anyone should use to measure how much they enjoy a ship. cautionary tale: as a tween i experienced way too much of the ATLA shipping wars and the way people would harass others over which ship was gonna be canon. my major takeaway from that was that that was a miserable way to ship, and that the "victory" of your ship being canon and theirs not being canon is not rewarding when the only reason you shipped that ship was because you thought it was going to be canon endgame. You will be much happier if you ship something because you like the dynamics of the ship and the experience of shipping it rather than if you like a ship because it is or you think it is going to be the endgame ship.

all that being said, i do actually think stizzy could totally happen in canon, because like i said: stizzy is funny and this is a comedy show. they already have the foundation that can easily be read as horny-for-the-other-and-hates-him-about-it. at one point i literally joked that i wanted them to become canon by getting into a fistfight that turns into a make-out that turns back into a fistfight and then they never speak of it. honestly it'd be fucking hilarious. But also considering Izzy got straight up maimed at the end of the last season, a more serious/genuine romance does not seem impossible, just highly unlikely.

For fun things that make me enjoy this ship: here is an audio post of the moment where Stede whispers "because i kind of enjoyed it" at Izzy after their initial meeting. Here's Stede seeing Izzy for the first time. I've described Izzy as being a "Helga Pataki type" about Stede and made a whole meme image series about it. There's Con O'Neil saying that Izzy thought Stede looked really good at the end of his sword (bonus! i asked that question at eccc! <-braggart.) Also you can read the curtain scene as Izzy being Stede's muse. There's something to be said about the framing of this shot. This gifset of Izzy looking at Stede (2nd gif and the last 2 gifs especially, wow.) Here's a compilation of Stede being a bitchy motherfucker to Izzy (bonus! in the tags you can see the gears in my head turning on the train of thought that led me to the "stede is horny for izzy" hypothesis) Here's just a funny post. And another funny post. And another funny post. Here's this post that isn't ofmd related at all but when it came across my dash all of the recent tags on it were like "stizzy" or "the stede and izzy duel" and they're absolutely correct. I'll half-jokingly call this their flirting compilation.

Additionally, while I'm not huge enough on ed/izzy and steddyhands to write about it like i did for stizzy, i do think there's something to be said (that i did already say) about how Ed seemed pretty obsessed with Stede before ever even meeting him simply based on Izzy's description of him, and how he "bested [Izzy] at swordplay" and like... guys is it normal to fall in love with someone you've never met because they made your first mate submit in a fight?? is that a normal, nonsexual, way to think about your first mate?

The Witchwood Knot review

4/5 stars Recommended if you like: Victorian era, fantasy, witchy reads, mirror worlds, Fae

This book is connected to Atwater's Regency Faerie Tales, but set some time after, once the period becomes the Victorian Era. Characters from the Regency Faerie Tales are mentioned, and Winnie knows some of them quite well, so it's a little spoilery if you haven't read the other series. That being said, this one does stand on its own and you don't need to have read the Regency books to grasp what's going on here and how the magic system works. (I did not read the Regency Faerie Tales series, but now I'm kind of thinking I might).

I have to say, I appreciate Atwater's dedication not only to representing the time period she is writing about but also to the style and theme of writing from that time period. She has a 'review' here on Goodreads that goes over some pretty interesting things and I enjoyed finding hints of that in the book (it is a somewhat spoilery review though, so only read if you've finished or are OK w/ spoilers).

The book opens as all Proper Victorian Books must: with a stormy evening and a governess. You get an immediate sense that something about the manor is strange, first from the fact that the coachman wouldn't go near it and then from the skittish silence of the servants. I definitely liked how it set up a Slightly Off atmosphere, though Winnie's humor and matter-of-factness creates an illusion of calm. The weird goings-on at the manor are the result of Fae, not 'horror' creatures, and so you know the rules going in. That being said, Atwater creates Fae that are cunning and cruel, quick to press advantages and attempt to ruin things before they've begun.

I did think it was easy enough to figure out why the Fae were mad (it takes Winnie longer), but there are some interesting and gruesome twists in there that I wasn't expecting. I was definitely intrigued by the missing town's folk and quite enjoyed how some of Winnie's Fae stories came around in a different way later on in the book.

Winnie is used to Fae, was saved and tutored by one as a child, and so she's able to have a matter-of-factness about her that many of the other characters lack. Even if she doesn't practically know certain things, she knows them theoretically, and that's a leg up compared to people who have little information about them at all aside from their terrorizing of the manor. I enjoyed Winnie's practicality as well as the humor she suffused into many of her Fae interactions. I found her dislike of Robert to be relatable and honestly think she has more patience than I would in that situation. Despite her semi-tough exterior, and her own best attempts, it's clear Winnie cares deeply for people and is willing to go to great lengths to protect them, even if she still doesn't particularly like them.

Quincy is the butler for the Fae side of the manor and plays both harmless and horrifying pranks on the inhabitants. It was hard to get a good read on Quincy because he was clearly not on the side of the humans, but at the same time he seemed to have soft spots for them at times (such as for Cook). I didn't like him for a good portion of the book, but he grew on me in the last 30% or so and by the end I liked him.

There is romance in the story, and while I liked it, I also am not sure how I feel about it. I knew who would be involved and that it was coming, but I feel like we don't really get a solid buildup to it. I knew those things because I read fantasy with romance, and I've read fantasy/romantasy books like this before, but if I was new to the genre and didn't know the pattern and tropes, I would probably be confused as to where the romance was coming from. Now, that's not to say there aren't hints of the romance throughout, but it is to say that I don't feel like the hints really build up properly.

I liked the Fae elements of the book and the topsy-turvey version of the house. The mirror world was an interesting aspect, and I particularly liked how it seemed to grow and become labyrinthine as a way of confounding the humans caught in the mirror world. Quincy is the main Fae we come into contact with, but there are the standard Gentry partying in part of the house, and Lady Mourningwood plays a bit of a role too. As usual, I enjoyed the careful wordplay that the Fae engaged in and that Winnie and the others had to accommodate lest they get trapped. Winnie seemed particularly adept at using faerie rules, which proved a nice challenge for the Fae who weren't expecting her.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I'll probably read Half a Soul at the very least and see if I want to get the full Regency Era story.

So sorry for lack of content to all others who have sent requests, after getting sick recently i've been suffering creative burnout and have been just generally unmotivated. At the end of the day, she's just happy to have a sibling and she'd never have it any other way, whether you were with her in the darkest times of her earlier life or through the new family shes come to know and love; you mean so much to her!

I can see her looking after you a lot, like if you forgot something at home on your way to school, she'll make sure to have a replacement for that thing or takes it and gives it to you if she notices you not having taken it yourself

Sometimes you jokingly call HER 'mom' or 'grandma em' because of the way she acts/dresses; she pretends to hate it but actually thinks its a little funny

Speaking of jokes you can't convince me Emma isn't a memer, she sends you dumb things she found on pinterest or old vine compilations and references them constantly, even if only to get a reaction out of you

She means no harm of course, but teasing you is just too funny! She can't help it!

Naturally it doesn't stop at just teasing, you get the short end of the stick with her jokes just like Hajime. You've been sitting through her nonsense for your whole life by now, it's as if shes some sort of joke encyclopedia because she has at least TWO for everything

If you do happen to have a similar sense of humor though, you guys would be having all-out pun wars for who can out-joke the other

Void is subjected to almost all of you and Emma's wars whenever you're invited to visit, which is not often because they insist that ONE Emma was enough

But oh, otherwise Void is actually quite fond of you! (even if you may have your differences with any members)

Nikei would be pestering you nonstop for your likes, dislikes, etc.. He never goes for the 'pervy' joke question though, he thinks it'd be weird because you're Emma's sibling.

Iroha is always dragging you around to show off her art in the hopes that you'll like it, maybe you can help her paint too?

You've probably already met Hajime before because of him being closer to Emma, but somehow he's even MORE motherly than her so you quickly shift your 'ok mom' jokes to him aswell. He doesn't know what to say to that and it confuses him more than anything

A lot of things depend on you liking Mikado, if it's AI!Mikado you're probably iffy on him; no-one can be THAT charming and creepy at the same time, he's probably like a serial killer or something, if you ever told him that though he'd tell on you to Emma, who would ignore him and leave him defeated ("Boo-hoo.. Y/N really thinks so lowley of me! I'm in tears!")

If it's IRL!Mikado though, you and him probably wouldn't talk much in the first place. He's not very good with new people and probably made a nervous error that made him too emberassed to talk to you for a while. He'll warm up eventually but you probably know him as the guy whos typing away on his computer all the time Overall, you and Emma have a pretty eventful life and are always finding new things to do. She really is glad to have family like you, afterall, it's all she's ever wanted
