if I disappear in a bit, I've finally got a video consultation for an hour or so with the trans & nonbinary support and advocacy organisation Beyond Reflections (formerly Chrysalis)

invisible scars (referenced previous talk here)
[ID: A colourless, digital Trigun comic of Vash and Wolfwood talking about Wolfwood's scars. They're both laying in bed and topless. Vash lays on top of Wolfwood, playing with the rosary around his neck. Then, Vash kisses a spot on Wolfwood's chest. Wolfwood asks, "What are you doing?" Vash smiles sadly, "You got shot here. In the last town we visited. You didn't even bother moving."
Vash props himself up over Wolfwood, who frowns slightly. Wolfwood is quiet for a moment before he says, "You remember that, huh?" Vash grabs Wolfwood's left wrist and brings it to his face. "And here." He kisses another spot there. "When you helped free the hostages from that robber..." Wolfwood dismissively says, looking away, "Was a lucky shot." Vash huffs, “Don’t brag. Jeez.”
Half of Wolfwood's expression is shown, eyes returning to Vash who is now sitting up, continuing to say, "And..." Vash goes on and kiss Wolfwood's right palm. "You got cut here, even though that girl was aiming at me." A moment from the past flashes, of Wolfwood grabbing a knife aimed at Vash, his hand bleeding.
At present, Vash moves down and puts another kiss on Wolfwood's right shoulder. "And here, from watching my back." Another memory flashes of Wolfwood and Vash back to back. Vash looks back as Wolfwood grins while holding Punisher, bleeding from multiple gunshots in his shoulder.
"And," Vash combs up Wolfwood's hair to reveal his forehead, "Here." A final memory shows Wolfwood with a regeneration vial in his mouth while getting shot on his temple. The next panel is framed in blood with Vash at the center, eyes wide and stunned in horror. The next panel is a closed up shot of Wolfwood's eye, locked on Vash's face.
Back to present, Vash’s head is bowed down as Wolfwood raises a hand to his nape and says, “Spikey.”
Wolfwood looks serious and frowns as he says, "We talked about this. Those were my decisions. They're not there anymore. Forget about them." Vash looks very sad before he smiles ruefully and says, "I still see them. All the time." He leans down so they touch foreheads. Wolfwood’s sorrowful expression can be seen as Vash says, "You protect so much. I could never forget what you've done to me. And many others..."
In the last image, they're drawn more cartoonishly. Wolfwood sweats and asks, "You don't actually remember every wound, right?" Vash points at a spot on his chest. "Kuroneko left a scratch here 7 times." Wolfwood, startled, says, "Why the hell are you keeping count—" End ID]

i just think that if wammy's house produced a deranged killer, a bioterrorist, and a serial kidnapper (bare minimum of mello's crimes), plus one who committed suicide that we know of in their attempts to produce a successor for l, maybe they were like, idk, putting too much pressure on kids from a young age and perhaps they should have reconsidered the intense competition they were fostering...just a thought

Maybe it’s the fact that I’m a grown-up now but Hades immediately switching gears and offering to protect Percy once he realised what was going on was refreshing.
Like I love watching kids run around the US in mortal danger as much as the next person, but it was nice to see an adult recognise on screen that those children might possibly need protecting rather than running around on divine errands and things are about to escalate beyond their apparent capabilities and maybe a grown-up should at least try step in?

Something I've noticed lately in the ATSV fandom is that a lot of people repost this Miguel:
🫣 Scary, right?
But don't forget that this faces also exists in him too:
Not only do I see someone making mistakes, but I also see someone sad who has a tremendous fear of himself and the mistakes he has made, which causes him to project his anger and guilt onto Miles.
Also, I read a comment on Pinterest today comparing him to Spot, saying that Spot lost a lot more than Miguel to do the things he does or something (they both lost things that were immensely important to them, it doesn't matter who lost more or less) but the way I see it, Spot chose to be a villain. Miguel just needs therapy and hugs.
I was always attracted to anti-heroic types of characters like Miguel. Because they demonstrate nuances that I feel make them a little more human. Many times these types of characters have strong traumas (for example, the Scarlet Witch) and since they are super people, the consequences can be much bigger than if they were ordinary human beings (I don't justify many actions of some characters, I know) I just feel that these characters can demonstrate the duality of light and darkness and I feel that that complexity is beautiful because at the end of the day, it is the duality of everything.
So, give Miguel a little break and let him understand, say sorry and smile again on BTSV, which I hope will happen!

How can you separate emotions from reality when you're saying you're a man, which is an emotion and not your biological reality?
oh wow I never thought of it like that! yeah, I guess misogyny is actually fine then since emotions are never relevant to reality, huh? that makes total sense! and that means abuse is fine as long as it's not physical, too, which is so obviously true- I should have realized!
thanks for broadening my perspective! 💙

What’s with the trend in comics of Jason going on this long, insightful rant on Bruce’s behaviors and shortcomings only for B to respond like “but murder bad” and that’s considered a valid counter argument?

Have we even talked about the trans implications of being a god of change...
Editing to add my tags and context
When I say 'incidental' at the beginning I'm saying it feels incidental and artificial and then go on to partially deconstruct the idea that it actually is incidental and give examples of why it's not. This is not a full analysis which is why the concept is not explored with the clarity and structure that that would imply, but I'm not actually calling gender irrelevant to the game because it's clearly an ongoing part of the text. I didn't intend this to get reblogged at all much less with responses to my tags, so any issues you have with my rambles are due to lack of clarity and finished thought, due to them being rambles, not a correct understanding of my actual point.
Anyway I think there's tons of interesting analysis to be done about how the game approaches gender, and I don't have the energy or interest to actually analyze about it right now which is why I was more just spitballing about it. What's most interesting to me tho is that contradiction where the Princess being perceived as a woman seemingly has nothing to do with anything, yet is ever present as a commentary on agency and perception, and how people who have experienced misogyny will connect with that. I am also fascinated by the Genderlessness/Genderfulness of the Shifting Mound as an entity of change, how she appears so very feminine but her entire philosophy rejects the idea of simple classification, etc.
As a transmasc nonbinary person the ideas of being perceived as female/feminine (and therefore feeble, innocent, alien, small, stupid, etc etc) and the idea of having a feminine role that doesn't quite or always fit me assumed by others despite that are ideas that resonate a lot. I have lots of thoughts and they're unorganized!

Very late to the party again, but I think it is insane the comfort and many ways in which the World Beyond Numbers crew is comfortable with breaking the “rules” of actual play.
They have such an ability to forgo the instinct of playing nice and instead stick to nuanced and complex character choices that I would be terrified to take- ame checking out and escaping because she prioritized her duty over conforming to the citadel’s ways, Eursolon being ready to free spirits and fully go rogue to find his answers, Suvi’s decision to stick with orders at all costs- they are all so ready to go “fuck this, let’s make it interesting” and it leads to so much amazing and deep character work.
Dunno, I just think we should talk more about how insanely good they are as players and storytellers
