Hellfire's Girl

Summary- A new girl moves to Hawkins and has already made an impression.

Pairing- Eddie Munson x Fem!oc

Warnings- friends to lovers, slow burn, she/her pronouns, cursing, mainly nickname will be used,

Notes- This is my first Eddie fic. Also, I will be straying from the storyline. Please don't forget to comment. I'd love to hear feedback.

Moving to Hawkins wasn't as bad as I had originally thought. Sure it sucks that I had to leave, but knowing I was only about 3 hours away from my friends made me feel better about it.

Starting my senior year in a new high school on the other hand… blows.

Well, it would have if I cared about fitting in. Back home no one judged. But here? Oh boy did they. I had to keep some of my hobbies on the down low, for now at least. Apparently, Dungeons and Dragons was considered “Devil worshipping”. So much for me trying to find people to teach me how to play. Or so I thought. Barely one week in Hawkins High is all it took for me to make a friend. Or a few.

~English class~

I was sitting in the back because I couldn't pay attention today. I was a passing student so I wasn't worried.

As I tuned out the teacher, I started doodling on what should've been my notes. The only thing on my mind was smoking my last joint that was tucked away in my car. I was unconsciously drawing clouds around the leaf I had made on my paper.

“Hey, New girl.” I heard whispers next to me. Turning my head to see a boy wearing a shirt with the words “Hellfire Club”. Maybe it was a new band?

“Do you partake or just like drawing?”

This felt like a trick question. Was he trying to get me caught or being friendly? I've learned quickly not to trust anyone yet. The jocks and the cheerleaders are the royalty in the ranks. Any lower on the food chain and you're a target no matter what.

He felt my hesitation to the question so he continued, “I only ask because if you need “flower”- he points to my picture- I know a guy.”

That sounds even more suspicious! I lean in slightly whispering, “You do realize how that sounds like a total set up right? Why should I trust you?”

The boy puts his hands up in defense.“That's fair. But wouldn't me asking you just be me outing myself? Why would I rat both of us out?”

“Touche.”

“I’m Gareth by the way.”

“Lena. And hypothetically if I were to say I had “flower”. Would you partake?”

“Uh Duh.” We both laughed silently.

“You seem pretty cool Gareth.” I could tell that took him by surprise but he tried to cover it up.

“Uh, thanks. So do you.” he paused for a second “Would you wanna come sit with me and my friends during lunch? I can't guarantee that you'll think they'll be as cool as me but…” I giggled.

“I’d love to. And trust me if they're like you I'll like them way better than the “royalty”.”

With that said the bell had rung, dismissing everyone for lunch. I put my notebook in my bag seeing Gareth standing in the corner of my eye. Like he's waiting for me. How sweet.

“I have to put some stuff in my locker. You can go ahead and I'll find you.” I smiled at him. He nodded his head but looked unsure. Like he thought I was lying about sitting with them. Nonetheless, he walks out of the room towards the lunch room while I head to my locker.

~3rd Person~

As Gareth walked to the lunch room, he thought about Lena. Was she being serious about sitting with them? Regardless he would have to mention her to his friends. Even if she didn't sit with them she was one of the good ones.

As he walks through the doors, a roar of multiple conversations bounces off the walls. He grabs his lunch and then heads to his table with his dungeon master and best friend seated at the head of the table.

The kiddies arrived just as he sat down. Now was his chance.

“Hey guys, I invited the new girl to sit with us.”

Everyone at the table paused as if processing what Gareth had said. Then a chorus of laughs erupted from the group. “I’m serious!”

Eddie wipes a fake tear from his eye. “Good one Gare.”

“Yeah like a girl is gonna sit with us.”Jeff rolls his eyes.

“You're delusional man!”

With Gareth trying to defend himself and the group in denial, they had not noticed Lena approaching their table.

~Lena~

I rushed to my locker to dump whatever I didn't need for my next classes. Then into the bathroom to make sure I didn't look crazy. I wanted to make a good first impression on Gareth's friends. It’d be nice to have real people to hang out with who are not snobby rich fakers.

When I got to the cafeteria I scanned the room to find Gareth while going through the line to just get some fruit. Surprised that they had peaches I grabbed two then spotted Gareth after I paid.

As I was heading to the table, a blonde cheerleader I met earlier stopped me. I think her name was Chrissy.

“Hey, would you like to sit with me and the girls?” she smiled sweetly.

“Oh thanks but I've got a seat already.” offering her a smile back. I didn't want to hurt her feelings because she seemed like the only genuine popular girl I'd met.

“Oh, that's okay! Maybe next time.” she then walked away to her table.

I started walking again and as I approached the table it seemed like they were arguing about something. Before you could catch what was going on they all fell quiet when you stood in front of their table. Looking at the boy standing at the opposite side of the table.

~3rd Person~

Eddie was not buying it for one second as soon as the sentence left Gareth's mouth. A new girl sitting with them? The freaks of Hawkins High? Yeah right. But alas Eddie believed that Gareth was committed to the bit til he had enough. He stood from his chair and slammed his hands on the table.

“For fucks sake! Why would she…”

He never finished his sentence. Once he saw her walking and stop right in front of his table he was speechless. No one ever makes Eddie Munson speechless.

The boys turned to see why he shut up and were equally astonished, besides Gareth of course. He wore a smug smile, crossing his arms and leaning back into his chair.

“Uh hi. Gareth said I could sit with you guys.”

Silence from the whole table. They just couldn't believe that Gareth was telling the truth. With no response, she tried again.

~Lena~

“Is that okay?” I asked as I looked at the boy directly across from me. He seemed like the leader of the pack so I awaited his response. But nothing. They all just stared at me like they had never seen a girl before. I don't know if I should be flattered or concerned. Before I could feel embarrassed and think this was a bad idea, Gareth spoke up.

“Here, you can sit next to me.” He scooted the chair next to him out for me to sit.

I sat down hesitantly, eyeing everyone as they still didn't speak. Lingering a little longer on the curly long-haired boy. He was cute no doubt. I toss that thought immediately away. Friends Lena. You're making friends. It was too soon to be having a crush on someone.

“Don't mind them. They didn't believe me when I said you were sitting with us.”

Gareth went around the table, introducing everyone to me. Next to him was Jeff. Across from me was Mike, and to his right was Dustin and Doug. Lastly, at the head of the table was Eddie. “Guys, this is Lena.”

I gave them all a smile and waved. Also noticed that they all wore the same shirt. I made a mental note to ask about it.

Dustin seemed to be the first of the group to come to his senses. “So, where are you from?”

“Harrison. It's about a half hour outside of Cincinnati.”

“What made you come to Hawkins?” Mike asked with a confused face.

“Uh, well my dad overlooks construction jobs. The company he works for has a new location. So he decided to move closer since he’ll be running that place.”

Everyone seemed to become more comfortable as I answered their questions. Seemingly deciding that I wasn't a threat. As I talked I subconsciously worked on opening my peach. It was what I always did to them. Slightly crack open the top, and run my finger all the way around. Now and then lick my finger to stop the juice from running down my hand then twist until it splits in half. Once opened I took a bite and noticed they all were staring again.

“What?” I said wiping the corner of my mouth.

“How in the hell did you just do that?” Jeff asked.

I couldn't help but giggle. “It’s my party trick.” I took another bite.

~3rd Person~

“Is that okay?”

The way she looked at Eddie stirred something inside of him. Genuinely asking for permission. His permission to sit with them. He was so dumbfounded to speak. Just taking her in. From her pretty brown eyes to the Queen t-shirt and jeans she wore that hugged her curves in all the right places to her ring-adorned hands holding peaches. She looked godsent. Well, at least that's what Eddie was thinking. He got a weird feeling as he saw you take the seat next to Gareth. Jealousy? What? No way he was already crushing on the new girl?! He barely even spoke a word to her, just listened to her answer any questions the guys had.

He watched her as she absentmindedly moved her fingers through the peach. His mind started creating naughty thoughts he couldn't shake away. The way she licked her fingers, completely oblivious to what she was doing to him. The juice of the peach slipped out the corner of her mouth as she took a bite. All he wanted to do was lick it off her. Oh, how he was already done for.

Jeff was the first to express his bewilderedness. Man, hearing her giggle? Eddie wanted to bottle it up and keep it forever.

“It’s how I've always eaten peaches. They're my favorite,” she says like it is the most obvious answer in the world. Before anyone could ask about the side with the pit, she does the same trick to split it again in half and then pop the clean pit out. She holds out a slice offering it up to anyone. Before Eddie could act, Dustin took the offering.

“Well in that case should we be calling you Peaches then?” Gareth joked.

She pondered the thought and then shrugged with a smile. “I wouldn't mind that.” Right at that moment, Hellfire as a collective decided that from now on they would only call her Peaches.

ok, please listen to what I have to say: Heartslabyul gang visiting Riddle in Alola is a little chaotic, but not negatively.

Trey exploring markets and shops on a gourmet scavenger hunt because he's curious about the baked goods and sweets of the Pokémon world and can you blame him?

Cater, our influencer boy is loving the paradisiacal landscapes of Alola that he needed two more memory cards because he couldn't choose which photos to keep as they were all ✨fabulous✨ and he guaranteed that he would only post the ones that don't have pokemon because he isn't idiot and doesn't want some crazy person from their world causing problems in the pokemon world, this world already deals with villains and hunters and they don't need some maniac running around hunting pokemon and dragging them back to Twisted to sell as if they weren't living beings that deserve it respect.

Deuce having fun exploring the islands on some poke-ride while his grandmother and mother enjoy some vacation. Our blueberry boy had fun like a child who ended up being adopted by a Dranpa and also made friends with a little machop, it seems he accidentally caught his first two pokemon 😂 (machop is also a good pokémon helping his mom and grandma ❤️)

Ace exploring around and buying some souvenirs and trinkets while thinking about which Pokémon he could catch. Not to mention when he tried to prank Riddle who was napping in a hammock and his Stufful stared at Ace with dead eyes as if to say in threat: Go ahead, I dare you...

TREY WOULD ABSOLUTELY ADORE MALASADAS AND WOULD 100% TRY AND MAKE THE RECIPE WHEN HE GETS BACK HOME

I also see him being genuinely interested on how Alolan Raichu evolved and become psychic type through the sheer power of fluffy pancakes

we stan Cater being conscious of his surroundings, he’s such good, very cool 😎

the Drampa and Machop essentially claim Deuce as their trainer lol, Ohana gifts him some Pokeballs to catch them and Riddle allows Deuce to keep them at Heartslabyul, as long as he doesn’t show them off or let them destroy stuff

ACE IS TRAUMATIZED BY YHE STUFFUL THAT’S WHAT HE GETS HEHEHE

no but seriously, Ace is 100% buys all sorts of souvenirs to take back and give to the other first years he’s so sweet, even though he might be an ass abt it

All right so the new episodes just came out like 20 minutes ago for me (oh yeah me from the future here it ended up taking me about 3 hours to finish watching the episodes cuz I kept pausing to write stuff in between so uh yeah lol) so everything under the cut will be my live reaction to everything. I'll add time stamps so you know where I'm at in the episodes. I can guarantee you that I will be sticking to my promise about potentially eating paper if I'm wrong about Sir Pentious not dying. Which honestly now I'm not sure if anyone will die, it was pretty much confirmed in a live stream that angel dust isn't going to be the one to die so my money is on one of the Angels. Also I'm using voice to text and while I'll try and fix any misspellings or wrong words I might miss them.

He had a hard time understanding you when he was younger, prior to your current relationship. You both just became acquainted with one another and with the distance he liked to have with everyone...you weren't friends for a while(even though you wanted to be). A little 'are we friends?' will have him stumbling for a second, but he'll likely say 'we can be.' Now, depending on how young he was when you ask, he might just say 'we aren't.'

(8 y/o Cove is so blunt it hurts-)

Obviously, everything worked out eventually because you're together and he understands you a lot better! He knows the little shifts and habits that happen during uncomfortable or disinteresting conversations. He knows that you're sentimental and understands what hurts you(mostly because he's the same).

Majority of the time, he feels at complete harmony with you - especially with the way you bounce of each other on the daily! But there are days when something upsets you and he has no idea. Some things just never come up and he ends up hurting you at times. Cove always will get to asking what's wrong when he sees you upset and will immediately apologize(while also making a mental note of avoidance to what got you upset).

➢ Itto

He thinks you're on another level of Kujo Sara - though much sweeter, for sure. At first, Itto was, well, intimidated by you just as much as anyone else. Such a cold stare and unmoving face...AND YOU'RE TALL?? Obviously not as tall as the one and oni, but sheesh(I mean unless...)! To say the gang was also a bit scared would be an understatement. "They're like Shinobu, but-" "But scarier!" "Yeah!"

He ends up liking you immediately, though. You're kinda cool, you know! Itto finds out how nice you really are rather quickly, finding you helping about and taking care of the strays in the city within a week of meeting you(a part of him fell in love right then and there, but don't tell him I said that). He'd notice how certain things affect you and subconsciously make mental notes, sometimes physical ones that he ended up losing, so he could protect you and make you happy.

When you both became each other's partner, he already understood you a great deal because of his observations. His jokes landed a good amount of the time, occasionally getting a chuckle or huff from you, and his hugs were reciprocated all the time- who wouldn't be a happy oni when it came to that?

He knows how to cheer people up, even without meaning to at times, so you're guaranteed to always have comfort for your hidden woes. Anytime he ends up making you upset, he's instantly apologizing- he doesn't even know for what yet either! He just knows you're not in a good mood, he caused it, and thats a no-no.

A ridiculous oni, he is. But he's your ridiculous oni.

➢ Diluc

How people view him doesn't matter to him, but Diluc does know he comes across as stoic most of the time. The untouchable wine boss, if you will(Kaeya has a death wish, you swear-). He understands that being such a sturdy person on the surface can lead to people leaning on you for support, even as you crumble apart on the inside. He, out of the many, knows perfectly well that there's more to someone than just their outward demeanor. And so, he offers his presence and gives you someone to talk to when he picks up on those small habits and twitches. He may not speak of his problems, but that doesn't mean everyone has to be the same!

That had been the beginning of his comfort and it still remains today - alongside your own, of course. It hadn't felt fair when he was the only one offering a shoulder to metaphorically cry on and you returned it in your own ways rather quickly. Obviously, comfort isn't the only thing in your relationship. There's plenty of silly moments that have you smiling ever so slightly when you remember them. Such as when you both tried baking cookies in random shapes whilst trying not to get caught by Madeline. You wouldn't get in trouble, but it was fun to act so. It was like you were children again, whispering and freezing at every creak the wood wallowed out.

In the end, the cookies got burnt - who could blame you when he decided, randomly, to smear some left over cookie dough on your cheek? Of course you were going to do it back! Friendships turned to something else and now you're both here. Two intimidating softies so very in love with each other.

I know the show would never do this cuz based on what the show has become they would never do this. But could you imagine from the Bible (sorry for those who might be spoiled) Su-Han training Luka to take over guardianship? I know it’s far fetched but the idea that we could have Luka being trained to take guardianship to take that burden from Ladybug/Marinette would be absolutely amazing. I know Su-Han is not around as much as a character, but taking a moment to believe even he sees the stress from Ladybug/Marinette and wants to do something about it for her safety gives me a bit of life. What are your thoughts? What is your opinion of Luka and fics about Luka being the/a guardian?

I’m conflicted, I suppose, but I will say that - in concept - I think it actually would be an interesting idea to see Luka (who Marinette wanted to be her best friend just last season) actually get trained by Su-Han, especially for Su-Han trying to make up for basically doing nothing for Marinette in Season 4. It would give him some value and allow Luka to actually be properly trained in a way no one else is, and you would suspect him of already being at least partially prepared since he already meditates and such.

I also really liked the idea in fanfiction of Guardian Luka because I feel like he and Marinette are largely the best for it. I used to come up with all sorts of headcanons for what being guardian would/should be like, such as guardians being teachers to the kwami to educate them on the current world and its technology, but also them being sociable enough to where they can pick heroes whenever needed. Luka is basically an empath and Marinette has lots of friends (the quality of said friends debatable but still) so they both qualify as good choices in my opinion.

I suppose the roadblock then comes with the wrench Season 3 (and 4 by extension) threw in with the memory loss. It took a lot of the fun out of assigning “guardian” to someone because you’re basically condemning them to forget huge chunks of their memory. Even if the memory loss is only tied to miraculous things, you basically can’t have a confidant either or you’ll forget about them. Season 4 also showed that the kwami are basically children, so not only do you have a garbage job that will leave you with severe gaps in your memory, but you’re a babysitter whenever you get home.

I still enjoy fanfics about guardian Luka when I see them (because it’s fanon so we can do whatever), but for canon, the thought is a little stressful because I don’t know if it’ll just be handing the box off to Luka (while possibly sidestepping Marinette’s memory loss somehow, or worse if they actively take advantage of her memory loss) as a sort of “well we created this plot point about guardians losing their memory so we have to give this to you so we can guarantee our love square their happy ending; what happens to you isn’t our concern.” He might only do one cool thing in the finale to “make way” for Ladybug and Chat Noir to do something and that’s all.

I suppose the TL;DR of it all is that I like the idea of Luka getting cool stuff to do because I feel he deserves it (and he’s the only temp who’s “met” Su-Han in any capacity), but after the realization that he’s getting sent away because of Adrien’s screw up, I don’t really trust the writers to be kind to him.

TheLreads, Vigilantes ch 89, Replies Part 1

1) “Alright, so, let us try to recover a bit of the lost time. Vigilantes? Yeah, vigilantes. Mirko just started kicking ass? Tricky question, she’s always kicking ass? Okay, so, did the story punched any holes in the worldbuilding or plot? pffft- yeah, I suuuuure it didn’t happen…”-

(L, after reading the chapter)

“NUUURSE! I’ve found a massive hole in this plot! Fetch the band-aids!

2) “Alrighty Mirko, time to show us some badass scenes, if you’re gonna escape persecution from criminal acts I want it to be worth it, aright?|- If there’s one advantage to Mirko, it’s that she’s a guarantee of badassness to ensure, or double your money back, guaranteed.

3) "A person who we don't know the identity of and definitely won't be charged for this even though those event are being transmitted online if I recall correctly "- Given what AFO’s up to, and later resorts to openly stealing Quirks in the chaos, I assume that he cut the feeds at some point when he judged it was time to sabotage the venue and make off with what he wanted from it- in fact, knowing him, he’d already twigged to Knuckle’s infiltration before his match and had pre-emptively prepared to burn the whole operation to the ground before he’d found anything that could concretely link AFO to the event, hence why he feels secure in (literally) showing his hand in matter now.

For all we know, the feeds were stopped before Mirko burst onto the stage, once “The Ripper” had been taken to the infirmary where he was free to find the incriminating stuff.

4) “Holy shit even the staff? Alright, more meat for the grinder I suppose. Poor bastards.”- They got caught up in the rush, but should have considered where the end result would take them. Oh well, at least this place likely has good dental – AFO had to keep his winning smile somehow, right?

5) “But if we theoretically knew, I bet we would be about to see a true carnage. A one-woman massacre. The Beast of Caerbannog brought to life.”- They’re locked inside a slaughterhouse, and they’re the meat products that need tenderising.

6) “Like I said, a massacre. And glad to see confirmation that this is indeed being shown online, where deeefinitely it won’t remain as a permanent record that can be used to identify her later on, I mean, there’s just so many bunny-people that are on high school and have already been expelled due to illegal underground fights, right?”- Hmmm, I’m honestly uncertain how much of the event is even being shown anymore. It’d leave too much evidence of AFO’s direct involvement for him to use Kurogiri’s portaling + his Quirk stealing this openly unless he’d already stopped the broadcasting, or put the feed in a closed loop to hide what he was doing, unbeknownst to the actual participants, who are now getting beaten for nothing but Mirko’s amusements

7) “Alright narrator calm down there before she climbs up there to kick your ass as well”- Actually, where the hell is he? He’s still keeping the commentary flow going despite a mass rush of bodies in the cramped confines headed straight for Mirko, so where’s he standing that he can keep an eye on the action without getting knocked over?

8) “Oh yeah it did, but don’t worry, there is enough of it to go around, blood just started being spilled after all

Now rappa, I want you to meet your new best friend forever

god if only Mirko was part of the overhaul raid… “- Rappa and Mirko really do be sharing the same braincell, just in opposite directions/interests. God but it would have been cool for them to meet/fight in the Hassaki raid again and settle the “Fist vs Kicks” debate once and for all…and I’d actually pay money to see Mirko’s reaction to Tengai’s barrier trciks when he pulled those stunts, and whether or not she could break them by herself unlike Fitgum’s mega-blow. Actually, now I wanna see Mirko and Kirishima interacting, just to see if she’d be up for training his endurance whilst also training her kicks.

9) “ “trying” might be the right word here, because they sure as all hell aren’t succeeding on it.”- An uncoordinated mob vs the most coordinated asskicker in the series, no contest.

10) “Now rappa I want you to apologize to your new best friend because being honest she’s way more “manly” than you. Can’t believe we’ll cancel rappa on shitter due to sexist comments smdh”- To be fair, he hadn’t spoken to her yet, and I’d honestly find a hard time finding somebody in this series who is more on each other’s wavelength than these duos. I’d also say I ship it, but they love violence more than any romance could hope to compare.

11) “Rappa please, your new best friend is right there and she would actually be incredibly happy to kick your ass into oblivion jesus just get out of Knuckleduster’s dick already”- This is why you should never be afraid to try new dishes on the menu, you might find something you’ll like more than your tried and tested favourites.

12) “oh my god he’s still going after him while casually yeeting people to the side

I can only imagine knuckle back at the office and Rappa outside, holding a boombox over his head like in a 90s romcom.”- That would imply that despite his simple love of straightforward violence, Rappa is skilled enough to track down and keep up with a man whose Quirk is literally all about super-speed, and that’s too funny not to be canon.

13) “I’m sorry, it doesn’t look like knuckleduster is paying attention to what that buzzer was, it looks like he’s so done with this shit he’s disassociating.”- Knuckle is still trying to avert his eyes from the path of the fist, but it will take him down his destined road, one way or another…

14) “Oh boy, is that the proto-trigger? So much for asking consent before giving it to conscious people, right?”- Well, maybe the manager would have asked for consent, but AFO’s not him, is he? Plus, I bet that gas piping was introduced as a “security measure” should the fighting get too out of hand, advertised as a means of sedating the whole crowd at once to avoid ‘incidents’, only for AFO to switch the payload when using it here to his benefit.

15) “Wait, so did the staff knew this was going to happen? But then why would they jump in on the mess? If I knew someone would deploy a quirk-enhancing drug that makes people lose their mind I would avoid going in the middle of a crowd of crazy-ass fuckers”- I’m betting they’re equally confused when people’s Quirks start exploding and spiking in power, but they were expecting the pipes to help sedate them, not push events more and more out of control. But hey, at least it’s really entertaining for AFO, the only one watching from the monitors now.

15) “Alright, so it is trigger alright

So, is this still being transmitted online or did the feed already got cut? Because boy I think it would be hard to overlook this when investigating trigger.”- AFO has definitely cut the feeds, especially since he starts getting ‘directly’ involved now, but it’s unclear as to when he did so.

Nanwum VII Update: 72,197

I'm starting to run out of gas, which is probably not a big deal since I already cleared 50k, but this bears out my whole strategy of building an early lead. My intention was to pull down 2k per day from the 13th to the end of the month, and I'm still on track, but on the 14th I fell a little behind and only got to 1709. It's not a problem, since I got caught up, but I need to be careful from here if I want to make it to 100k. Not that I need 100k, but I like bragging rights.

To reward myself for the insane wordcounts I put in earlier this month, I decided to watch all of the recent DBZ review videos that TotallyNotMark put up. You know, the ones with the new Team Four Star DBZA clips in them. I'd already watched the "Buu Bits" in a separate compilation video, but now I'm finally checking out the review and...

I don't know, there's a lot of good material in these things. The editing is top notch, and you could play these videos with the sound off and still enjoy it just as an hours-long DBZ highlight reel. And Mark has a lot of salient insights on the series. I particularly liked his analysis of Gohan and Videl's dynamic, and it's also refreshing to see a DBZ fan who, you know, actually likes the show. Like, he's gushing over Vegeta's character arc, or talking about how great the androids and Cell are without a bunch of qualifiers, and it's just refreshing to see that.

That having been said, the writing for these videos often ends up sounding like this:

Like, arguably, you can't do a six-hour review of a cartoon show without being a little pretentious, but there's sentences in these videos where it feels like YouTube is paying Mark by the word.

Also, he tends to make these off-the-cuff style remarks, like he's discussing creative decisions about making the video in the video. I get that too. I write my blog with that same stream-of-consciousness energy, because I really am making this up as I go. It's a blog, there's not gonna be a second draft. But he's doing a YouTube video, and there's a lot of production values involved and the work is pretty polished. I don't think it makes a lot of sense for him to talk about how the sausage is made. Just give me the sausage, which is footage of the cartoon with a guy telling me what he liked about it.

I've sort of had this fascination with the writing style throughout the series, and I think if I had to spoof it, I'd go with something like this:

"Again, as I said before earlier in this video, when I started this review, I wanted to avoid sounding pretentious, an attribute the likes of which can be disastrous for the making of a successful review. But, having established that fact firmly and decisviely, perhaps even conclusively--not withstanding earlier comments made about the length of Piccolo's cape, which is a subject for another day-- I can say with great certainty that Goku and Vegeta do indeed comprise a dramaturgical dyad, not only upon which the series depends upon, but through which we can see the true genius of one of the most influential manga authors of all time."

And while you hear this word salad, there's a cool shot of Vegeta beating up Pui Pui or something.

The weird thing is that I didn't really pick up on this in his GT, Super, or OG Dragon Ball review videos. It's almost like he's purposely writing more stuff so he has room for all the cool footage.

Right now I'm in the tail end of the Buu Saga, and while I give him credit for being diplomatic about it, Mark still falls into the same trap I see with a lot of critiques of the Buu Saga: They keep comparing the existing text with some hypothetical better story that they assumed Toriyama was planning to write instead, before he changed his mind.

I think everyone has run across this before. People saw Gohan take the main-character role after the Cell Games and assumed this was a guarantee. When Gohan gets demoted and Goku takes the lead again, they cry foul and complain about how Toriyama failed to make it work, or he just plain gave up. There's an old fan rumor about how he was "forced" to put Goku back in charge because of backlash from angry fans, but this is absurd on its face.

This leads to critiques of the Buu Saga that operate on the premise that there's some idealized "correct" version of the story, where Gohan trains really hard, beats Buu all by himself, and so on. Whenever the published version of the story deviates from this "correct" version, critics suggest that Toriyama got his wires crossed, and blame everything on the awkward pivot back to Goku.

To me, that doesn't make sense. "Gohan and the Next Generation defeat Buu" is a what-if fan theory. Maybe it's better than what we ended up getting, but it's not fair to review the published work by comparing it to a hypothetical draft that may never have existed. That's like if a food critic gave a steakhouse a bad rating because he thought it was a pizzeria and he's still mad that his sirloin didn't have anchovies on it.

When you look at the Buu Saga as it was actually presented, the throughline is clearly not about passing the torch to the kids, because they all get jobbed out and killed. So it's dumb to review the thing and complain that the Gotenks stuff is pointless, and Gohan's power up is unearned, and his loss to Super Buu really sucks the life out of the story, and gosh, this is a really terrible passing-the-torch story. Well that's because it's not a passing-the-torch story. It's a story about Goku trying to pass the torch, failing, and discovering that he still has a place in the world after all. The "torch" he was trying to pass was his identity and personal responsibility, things he can't just confer on someone else.

You can't just tell someone else they're the new protagonist of your story and now they have to go do your job and feed your pets while you play video games. Everyone talks about Vegeta going Majin as a manifestation of his mid-life crisis, but Goku's mid-life crisis was him dying at age 30 and nope-ing his way out of life to train in Valhalla for the rest of eternity. The Buu Saga forced him to accept that this was a mistake, which is why he doesn't just drink a vial full of heart-virus juice after the story ends. He's back in the world of the living and this time he knows he needs to stay there.

And when you look at it from that perspective, suddenly all the Gotenks/Elder Kai Ritual stuff makes a lot more sense as awkward farce. It's anticlimactic and unsatisfying because none of those plans were ever going to work. Nothing worked until Goku and Vegeta both got their heads out of their asses and worked together. The world didn't need martyrs or torch-passings or a 'next generation', it needed adults to put their personal feelings aside for the greater good.

To promote Village, Capcom released a developer diary titled “The Making of Resident Evil Village: Winter Comes for Ethan” in September 2020, where staff members discuss Ethan's role within the game... okay where is this I kinda wanna know what was said I wish i could have not seen the compilation of reception he got in his wikipedia page as some it is so dumb (mean to say but it is one said that Ethan was a incompetant idiot- ahh yes the same Ethan who knew how to reload a gun one handed and figure how to make super powerful bullets in RE7) also I want you to watch Chris campaign from RE1 because I want to see if you can spot what I noticed about the similarities in charcters and stuff

I'm pretty sure I saw some stuff about the Making Of you mentioned, but I cannot remember what was said. I do kinda remember them saying that even during the making of Resident Evil 7 they were already wondering where Ethan's story could go from there and they decided to explore it in Resident Evil 8. But I don't remember much else.

As for the reception... I was watching a guy stream Shadows of Rose yesterday, and he mentioned he didn't like Ethan because he always states the obvious, and I'm like... bruh that's like saying "I don't like Ethan because he has blonde hair". It's like you're saying it's a fact that it's a negative trait for his character when it's just a trait; some will like it, some will not, but the phrasing of the negativity around Ethan's character specifically sounds like those people do not understand character range and audience opinions. Not every character is for everyone.

To be frank, in the context of the Resident Evil franchise, Ethan is a little dumb... but way smarter than the average human being. If y'all think the average human would be able to do anything Ethan did in re7 and re8, you grossly overestimate the average person's intelligence. A not insignificant part of the human population cannot read a map. A not insignificant part would not know to keep their arm high and put pressure on it after the hand has been cut off. A not insignificant part does not know where to stick needles on the human body when registering medicine. A very not insignificant part cannot aim and shoot a gun (I was in a shooting club for a year, for air guns who are way lighter than fire guns, and lemme tell you the amount of newcomers who tried the air pistols and could not get a single bullet to even hit the edge of the target was bigger than you can imagine). You do not call that bare minimum because I fucking guarantee you there's a lot of people who just don't know this shit. And in the Resident Evil games, the protagonists have always been a little smarter, tougher, stronger than the average population, because they are a fantasy of sorts of being a Cool Badass character surviving through a zombie outbreak because we ourselves would never survive it. The reception to Ethan is fucking hilarious because the moment they tried to make the protagonist a little closer to the average human everyone started screaming bloody murder about how apparently "stupid" he is like excuse me Dave do you know how to use a medical syringe? Thought so.

And apart from that, I still think it's their loss that they cannot see how fucking relatable and hilarious Ethan is. You don't play the game to make "Wow Ethan is so badass if only I was like him!!"-fantasy-like thoughts. You play the game to be like "Whoa buddy you're in some deep shit but we're in this together we'll pull through" and honestly tough luck for them cause re8 fucking rocks and they're only sabotaging their own enjoyment.

I'm honestly not invested enough to watch gameplays of the other Resident Evil games, but you're welcome to share with me your thoughts about those similarities you mentioned :)

Buenos dias, I hope you're having a transcendent tuesday! I checked, and I don't think you've been asked this yet, deepest apologies if you have, but assuming there won't be a season 3, what character's would you pick to fill the last 2 DLC spots for Strive? For me it'd be Robo-Ky and Elphelt. Like most people I feel Elphelt is basically guaranteed, and I just really need my favourite bucket of bolts back. Interested to hear your opinion and thanks!

Hello hello, and no worries! I haven't been asked that already, and even if I had, it's not a crime to be asked a second time, if anything it's sweet to think that people are interested in my opinions.

Tbh it's weird for me just to consider we're already halfway through season 2, time moves way too fast and way too slow at the same time. Can't help but wonder what the final roster's gonna come out to once they officially stop updating.

I know some people have tried looking at the prior dlc's to hypothesize, and while I'm not sure if that guarantees anything, it's fun to look at the patterns!

Obviously it's not gonna follow the exact same pattern, I mean season 2 already only has 4 instead of 5, but we can at least see Arcsys is having a nice mix of old and new, which I can appreciate! And at least for now it looks like they're keeping it up

So I feel based on this ultimately rather arbitrary pattern, we'll have one more newcomer, and the last slot could honestly be any category, I think. There was only one Old Return in season 1, but then Testament and Bridget were released one after the other, so I dunno if that really matters. It at least seems like the characters they're bringing back from older games are more for fun that because of playing a story role.

Also, we did get a brief teaser a few weeks ago, with footage from Another Story. If it ends up being a playable Delilah, she'll count for the new character. If it ends up being Bedman, then he'll be a recent return, albeit in a different form, ala the shift from Zato to Eddie to back. And if it's both of them as one character, then it'd be...both, I guess? Or I guess just new since they've never appeared in that formation...?

Well aside from that, all I can really do is guess! Whatever it is, I think I'll be able to find some hype in it, at this point all the characters I am overtly not fond of or just think re slightly overrated are already in so in an odd sense I'm glad they were added in sooner! I will admit that the internet has kind of...soured me towards the idea of bringing back Robo as DLC, I guess maybe in the sense that it's become so overdone it's sorta tiring? I get it for Elphelt too, though definitely at much less of an extent. I guess I was never just a fan of #sweep jokes, and maybe it's a little hypocritical of me seeing as how I'm more of a plot dude than a game mechanics dude but a lot of the time I find myself wondering if people would actually play them or would they just go 'oh cool they did the thing' and immediately move onto the next meme

I know it's unlikely, but I think it would be really cool to have Zappa make a proper playable 3D appearance, honestly most of the appeal to me would be seeing what sort of freaky animation shit they could do with the ghosts, and I want to see him and Goldlewis interact. If they bring back Robo, I'd like to see them lean hard into the fact that he works in a bakery now, if he has his full body back a lot of his moves would involve stuff like chucking rolling pins at people or other nonsense of that sort. If we want to go into crazy shit territory, I'd actually love to see Izuna come back! It'd be really really cool to see how they'd choose to adapt him into a fighting game proper (that and I want him to be Sin's weird furry grunkle). Fanservice is fun and all but sometimes I think they need to do something goofy for the sake of it once in a while, the secret reason Guilty Gear is cool is because in part that it's just unbelievably dumb and ridiculous that it loops back around to being cool and I hope they don't forget that just because it's got a bit more mainstream popularity now

And, obviously, I would not take Elphelt coming back with anything less than delight.

So if I had to sort everything into the prediscussed groups, my dream picks would come out-

Hey just wanted to say that, even though it might not mitigate all the problems that come with being an artist in these times, I really do love your art. Many pieces of your have made me cry tears of joy and sorrow and others have left me in shock. And I guarantee I’m not the only one. This isn’t meant as pressure for you to post. Take your time, breathe, take breaks, but also know that for many of us it’s far more than a simple 3 sec amusement. Tbh, I’ve been lowkey wanting to tattoo one of your pieces on me, but I have t decided which one yet (of course I’d ask and pay you beforehand).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that we do appreciate how much effort and emotion you put into your pieces. I know this doesn’t really solve anything, but maybe it’s good to read it every now and then.

first off I just wanna say thank you for taking the time to write this. It's very kind and tbh I've reread it a couple times already💕

I've been posting my art online since I was 12, and it's only been within the last year that I've been getting a notable response. I guess subconsciously whenever my stuff did "blow up" I expected that response to get bigger and not decrease.

Mostly it's not really about how many notes something of mine gets. I love feedback, A lot of my pieces hold my thoughts and emotions in them, so when someone can recognize or feel what I put in there it makes me very happy.

I'm personally going to work on realizing that just because someone doesn't say it, doesn't mean that they don't get it or it doesn't mean as much to them. I find myself coming back to pieces I've liked or rb and just stare at them for awhile and that others probably do the same, even with my art.

there's probably a billion other things I could say jbnkkgdfhj. But I hope anyone who's ever supported my art in some way knows I appreciate them.

Hey! I wanted to ask this anonymously first before I embarrassed myself but I just started my first young justice blog and I really need some help coming up with fic ideas, with writing, with a lot of stuff I'm a complete mess, an I was wondering if it's not much trouble, could I get some help?

Hey :)) omg that’s so exciting! looking forward to checking out ur blog :D just saying in advance to hopefully squash any worries and to scale expectations, i’m not the best person with communication and can take a while to respond to messages (also sorry bout the slight delay with answering this one, i do hope u see it i can’t remember if anon questions notifies the sender 😭). I cant guarantee being the most helpful person either but i’d be happy to try to help where/if i can :)

in terms of general advice for fics/writing which i think tbh is the best one (that i use to try to motivate myself to write for fics) is to just start writing! like literally anything, as soon as u feel like even a second of inspiration or motivation just go with the flow. Whether it’s one sentence, a paragraph or 1000 words lol, just putting words on a page is a great start already. It doesn’t need to be perfect at all, my first fic (unposted) ended up being long with multiple chapters and all the writing throughout was so questionable lol but i was and still am so proud of it! It gave me experience and the learning curve was inspiring that i was excited to try to write even more stuff after. I noticed with each chapter i slowly found a rhythm and improved step by step. Even if it’s just tiny things that u learn, it makes all the difference. You 100% learn as u go, even now whenever i post something i’m like damn i could make a million changes or be annoyed/critical at something but ultimately i’m just happy to have posted something to share with others and contribute a little something to a community of people who share the same interests as me :) and that’s rlly all that matters and as u start doing that u can develop more ideas and “what ifs” to explore i.e more fic ideas etc

in terms of structure for working on fics id say it rlly depends on the individual. for me i usually write a rough outline/summary of what the fic is basically about. I usually try to have key details summarised where they all connect until the end of the fic, so that after that’s done, u can then flesh out the individual chapters or paragraphs out better. But things like plot can also really change whilst ur writing! It all boils down to what inspires u to write.

It’s not bad to have no ideas, i think it’s actually super cool for people to start out with a really simple/basic prompt (maybe something like: oh flash family go to a restaurant or zetaflash go to an arcade or outsiders play board games (lol)) something like that and then u can expand on the story with dialog/events/characterisation/description that really fills it up and makes up the chunkier part of the fic where it almost at times feels like it writes itself.

also fics really doesn’t need to be long at all if that’s something u might find intimidating, my stuff tends to be quite wordy because that’s just how i write (as u can see from most of my ask answers where i just go on and on like can i shut up for once? lmfao) if anything, i admire people who can get points/description/stories across through concise writing or short stories! that’s a real impressive skill too

if u want to start writing fics to post, 100% start writing anything, literally anything and eventually u will manage to figure out ur own workflow/style that suits u best :) i’m 100% still learning too, i mean i have yet to finish a multi chapter fic, but by reminding myself that any writing is a good step somewhere, despite the slow progress, i can still be motivated to keep working on it. i hope these general tips managed to help u somewhat 🙏 again rlly looking forward to checking out ur blog <3

002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:

When I started shipping them: I don‘t know the exact date nor year, since I guess my preference for the OT3 ship developt over time. My first fanart of them being romantic partners was made in 2019, so I guess that‘s the year my heart was finally struck by them.

My thoughts: As much as I dig NorEmma, RayEmma or NorRay, only NorRayEmma feels truly perfect and in-canon for me, to say so. Over the course of the manga, it was shown so many times how these three truly belong to each other and which effects it had on two of them when one was missing – not to forget to mention the one who would be alone and with their best friend. So, I don't really want to see them seperated, and imagine them in other relationships is fine, but not my ultimate choice. If it‘s not🤍🧡🖤, I‘m not going, period.

What makes me happy about them: Their interactions. Their discussions. The huge amount of intelligence that is radiating from them whenever they are together. The fondness of their eyes when they see the other two happy and well. Their determination to do everything for their best friends sake, even if it means to give up themselves to guarantee there‘s a future for those they love. The possible tension between them. The concept of them being parts of the whole, only truly perfect when the other two parts are with them. The idea of an one year old child meeting two other babies and instantly deciding to stick with them, forever, from crib to coffin and maybe even beyond. Just, everything.

Should I continue or was that enough for now?

What makes me sad about them: The hardenships they had to face throughout their young lives and how it probably affected them even in their adulthood. For example, Norman‘s declining health due to the experiments in Lambda, that surely never truly go away, even with good medication. Ray‘s mental state is completly in ruins and I fear not all amount of therapy in the human world will ever make him feel not guilty for the things he decided to do for Emma and Norman‘s sake. Not to forget best girl Emma, who can‘t even remember the childhood she spent with her best friends due to the new promise. After all, new memories are wonderful and I‘m glad she found her way back to them. But still, there will always linger a bit of sadness in her, feelings of loss and regret, that will also affect Norman and Ray.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Ray being constantly annoyed with Emma and Norman; listen, he‘s sarcastic and sometimes looses his temper, but overall, Ray always takes time to explain things that annoy him, without too much scolding. In some stories, I get the feeling he doesn‘t even like Emma and Norman, the way he acts, or he drank too much edgy juice™ this morning. Also Norman being all bashful around Emma. He‘s certainly not a casanova, but I like to imagine he cooled down over his crush for her and is just as happy as Emma herself to experience new feelings alongside her. That being said, I don‘t really see Emma being either too shy around either of them or drifting into turbo mode when she‘s in the mood. I like her as a complex, more differentiated character and not a child in a teenager's or adult body. She‘s not dumb and she‘s not over the top 24/7.

Things I look for in fanfic: The Trio having a frickin‘ good time, chilling and talking and doing silly stuff together, but also basic stuff like cooking or going on with their lives in the human world. I prefer fanfictions in which they are already young adults, maybe even with jobs, but school or university is fine, too. If the story is spiced up with some drama, whichever kind, I‘m happier than you could imagine.

My wishlist: Wheter it be Emma, Norman or Ray, they all should get a good therapist. Like, a really good one. They deserve it. Norman‘s health becoming better after countless treatments, and not to forget, Ray finding joy again in reading and learning (I bet he would love most fantasy books in the human world, and since the activity would not be affliciated with his survival, I bet he could „waste“ countless hours on this). For Emma, I wished her memories could come back, but I fear they are gone for good :(

And my personaly headcanon – them starting a big family on their own, giving back all the love that they experienced throughout their lives, and see a new generation of „cattle‘s children“ living free and without the horrors of their anchestors.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: If the Trio‘s not possible, I would also accept either NorEmma, NorRay or RayEmma, hehe. These ships are almost as good. For Norman, I can‘t really think of another partner, sorry. If they both are older, I could totally see Emma with Oliver (as long as he even like girls), and for Ray, I‘ve got another favourite ship I just like as much as the common NER ones: Ray and Ayshe. Shirai and Demizu probably doesn‘t know what they did to me with that one side comic them discussing their parental figures. They also share the same „my face is too cool to show it fully“-act going on and the thought of Ray and Ayshe making Norman nervous, whenever he interacts with the two of them, is pure comedy gold to me.

My happily ever after for them: They live married in a big house near the countryside, have awesome jobs they love to go to and of course a bunch of children of their own or even adopted, to make their new life just as loud and chaotic and wonderful as life in Grace Field House was for them. Well, at least before everything went downhill real quick.

OliZack

When I started shipping them: Only around a year ago, to be honest. I saw several really adorable pictures with them and yeah, where captivated by childhood friends to lovers. Also their colour combination is just superb.

My thoughts: Why wasn't there more of them in the manga? What impact had the several journeys with Emma and co. on Oliver and Zack‘s relationship? They were always together since they were ten; suddenly, they were apart for months, not knowing what was going on with the other and if they would be safe or see each other again. That‘s the stuff that keeps me awake at night.

What makes me happy about them: They stayed alive throughout Goldy Pond and everything that followed after. It would have been so easy for them to die, for every reason, but no, we shippers were lucky and managed to see them going to the human world. And as I said before, their colour pallets are just wonderful – one pale and white haired in red, the other one darker pigmented in blue. Name a more iconic duo ❤️💙.

What makes me sad about them: Not really seeing much of their friendship in the manga. Did they even talk to each other once? Oliver and Zack defintly deserved more attention and content, even as side characters.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I… I have never read any OliverxZack fanfictions to this day, I guess. I could be wrong, though, but it‘s a rare sight. That‘s my complain – there‘s not enough of them.

Things I look for in fanfic: Their past in Goldy Pond, like them being children in a child-unfriendly environment and growing up to the persons they are today. Stuff about the two in the human world and their future would be cute as sugar, too.

My wishlist: To see and read and hear more about them . Asap!

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: You know what? Whe talked about my OT3 before, why not doubling the joy? How about Oliver, Zack and Paula ending as more as just friends? As mentioned before, Oliver and Emma could surely form a great team (again), and Zack with someone else… maybe some other GP residents? I have never thought about it, to be honest, but ifI should change my mind sooner or later, I will add it!

My happily ever after for them: They live together in the human world in a nice appartment; Oliver‘s a social worker for kids on the streets and Zack became a paramedic. Maybe they got some pets, maybe adopted kids, possibly ones Oliver knew due to his work. They managed to get over the loss of their father figure and friends and become old and grey and live happily ever after.

003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:

Don

How I feel about this character: Oh, sweet summer child (literally, since he was born in July). Don got such a big heart and a lot of passion; in contrast to Norman and Ray, who are mostly cool and calm characters, he‘s a nice change. I just love it when male characters can show their feelings more open, even if it‘s anger or grief. Don‘s development from „guy who is a bit confused but got the right spirit“ to someone who activly became part of the riskiest operations, baffled me as much as delighted me. Not to mention his glow up. Thank you, Demizu!

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Hmm, none, really! My headcanon is that he got a hard time in the human world wooing the ladies who have no interest in him (stupid, stupid decision, but it can‘t be helped). Maybe he finds his significant other one day, maybe he learns he‘s happy the way he is. Dunno.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Gilda and Don! Add Ayshe to the mix and I would read a whole series about their adventures. I also like to imagine Violet teaching him a lot of stuff to survive in the demon world on their journeys to Cuvitidala or the Seven Walls, including veeery creative swear words.

My unpopular opinion about this character: He‘s not as dumb as fandom sometimes depicts him. After all, he already knows where southeast is. No, seriously, Don has to be incredible smart, way smarter than he is usually depicted. He survived in Grace Field, of all farms, easily up until his tenth year of live and even beyond. As much as I like goofball-Don, we should never shove his intelligence aside and underestimate the boy.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Him punching Norman again. I mean, he deserved it as much as Ray did, possibly in the days after queen Legravalima was killed and they had to rush back to Grace Field. After all Norman was a huge dick to Don and Gilda, lied straight into their faces (again), used poor Hayato and the other Lambda guys as his own personal weapons and made Ayshe suffer (which Don befriended immiatly, as it seemed). Enough for a clap, I think. Additionally, I‘d love to see him grieving more about Conny‘s death. Sure, we had the bonus comics in which it was finally revealed how much he regretted not being to save his little sister, but… How did her death affected Don afterwards? Did he had a trauma through this sudden turn of certainity he had all his life? That‘s the stuff I truly wanted to see.

Favorite friendship for this character: Gilda and Ayshe, but I basically love to see him interactin with everyone. Don radiates a warm, friendly aura, that surely everyone is drawn too.

My crossover ship: I gonna be real with you: I have no crossover ships, that‘s why I won‘t fill this for the following characters. I never really could draw a line between The Promised Neverland and any other series, yet alone including any ships. Sorry!

Gilda

How I feel about this character: She is beauty she is grace, she will blow up the shelter if you don‘t bring back at least one of her siblings back an alive from Goldy Pond. Gilda‘s a powerhouse and way too good for all the stuff she had to went through. I wish I could love her as much as she would deserve it, but TPN got so many characters that gave me brain rot, she kinda falls behind.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Emma and Gilda as romantic shipping is nice, but I prefer their sisterly friendship. Besides that, I can‘t really think of another ship for her (Don‘s her bro and nothing more).

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: As stated before, her and Don‘s friendship. These two didn‘t shared any similarities at first glance, besides being the only ten year olds in the orphanage, but always sticked together. Their interactions during the whole story were adorable and a nice change from the Full Score Trio ones, since the two were sometimes left in the dark about certain topics and had to find out ugly truths on their own. That surely did strengthen their bond.

My unpopular opinion about this character: She did forgive Norman too easily after he lied about finding Mujika and Sonju „to protect them“. I‘ve got the feeling deep down, Gilda won‘t forgive someone as fast as maybe Don, and making snippy side comments to Norman about his wrong doings would have been hilarious. She managed to frighten Emma and Yuugo after them being reckless again, she could surely could have done this with Norman too.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Overall, just depicting more of Gilda, like showing her settling in in the human world or wearing a bunch of adorable outfits (the bonus chapter with Gilda, Anna and Emma was not enough!!).

Favorite friendship for this character: Don, because of all we‘ve seen throughout the manga, and Ayshe, for all the possibilities they could have.

Matilda

How I feel about this character: A Mother‘s Determination was really a wild ride. In around 40 pages I went from „uggh get her away from me“ to „I strongly want to protect her (as well as the other sisters)“. Matilda‘s backstory and character development was touching and I enjoyed learning more about the life in Grace Field. She left a greater impact on me than a side character probably should, but here we are, loving Matilda hours 24/7, again.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Again, I can‘t say any. I know I‘m a terrible person for never providing any shipping ideas here, but at this point, I can‘t really see her with anybody.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: The „friendsip“ with Sienna, Jessica and Scarlet as well as her relationship with Isabella. I don‘t know if you can call this friendship, depending on their social status in the headquarters, but I like to imagine they grew fond of each other over time.

My unpopular opinion about this character: That‘s probably not unpopular at all, but I headcanon that she‘s Norman‘s biological mother. Due to her ID and the resulting age, I had a hard time bringing Matilda‘s age in correlation with Norman‘s, but for me, I imagined she had the child when she was barely eightteen years old, so it adds up. For me, at least.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh, what would I give to witness more of her shenangians under Grandma Sarah and Isabella! The two years until the escapees came back were surely a very interesting time.

Favorite friendship for this character: Probably no real friendship, but I bet she went regulary to Isabella and wanted to hear stories about her child, their development and what kind of person they are. Matilda was the first one crying over her child being alive (and well?), and I‘ve got the feeling she still cared way more about them as she would probably admit.

I'm thinking of running a ttrpg campaign for some friends but I've never done that before and I'm pretty nervous. have you done much in the way of running games n would you have any tips for a beginner? :O

or maybe just, like, as a player what sorts of things can the person running the campaign do to make things enjoyable and engaging? what sorts of things do you appreciate when you're playing?

hi logan!!!! yes i am definitely up for sharing some Thoughts! i apologize for being a little late asdfjl;k i was going to bed when you sent this in (went to bed before 4 am y'all be proud of me)

ANYWAY omg that's so cool!! sounds like fun!!! okay, first, definitely understandable to be nervous! it's been a hot minute since i actually ran any games but even when i did run games regularly it was always a nerve-wracking experience for me. however, it's an absolute blast and i think you'd really enjoy it!

i'm not the most experienced gm/dm/etc in the world, but i do have some advice i can offer!!! and i know i have some more experienced folks following me so if any of y'all want to throw advice in please feel free.

first, my biggest piece of advice is to try not to get too caught in planning for every possibility--your players are going to do things you won't expect and i guarantee there will be at least one instance where they do something you didn't plan for at all. the biggest thing with any ttrpg, at least in my experience, is learning to go with the flow and improv! it's definitely good to have some kind of plan going in, and ultimately how much you plan is up to you, but don't get too stressed out if things don't go how you expect them to!

another thing i definitely recommend is having some kind of practice run before jumping right into the full campaign. you could try running a oneshot or two, or something along those lines in general, to help build up your confidence as a dm! session zeroes are also good, and you can use them to help introduce the players to each other in-character and to the world they're going to be in for this campaign. they also can help give everyone a feel for the campaign in general before jumping right in.

ok now i'm just gonna list some misc. advice before talking about stuff i as a player like to see happen:

work with your players and cater the campaign to them and their characters. if they have plotlines they'd be interested in exploring, talk to them about it and see if you can find a place for em.

just in general communicate with your players as much as possible--i don't mean in the sense of giving away everything that's going to happen, but just make sure everyone's on the same page, y'know!

definitely take notes!! if you're running a game, ultimately you remembering what happens both with the party and outside of it is important.

how much you decide to follow the rules of whatever ttrpg you're running is ultimately up to you, but in my experience it's a lot more fun to fudge the rules sometimes for the sake of the story than to stick to them strictly at all times.

have fun! remember, you're part of the game too, and the point is for everyone to have a good time telling the story together.

okay now for the player's side of things, i also don't have Much experience on this front, and most of my thoughts are things i already mentioned, but in general what i love to see is when game masters really incorporate the characters into the world they're in. use your players' backstories to your advantage and work them in the narrative where possible, and don't be afraid to really go for the throat with emotional moments.

another thing i appreciate is when the gm talks with the players before everything starts to get a feel for what everyone wants out of the story, as well as any triggers or sensitive content that should be avoided. that's a good way to make sure you know what to avoid and what you can do to make things more engaging for everyone from the get-go.

and uhhh i guess last thing is i just want to reiterate the Have Fun part! because i know there are a lot of things online that joke about how fun it is to make the gm's life hell or treat ttrpgs like a competition between the gm and the players, and really that's not the case! the point is for everyone to have fun, play a game, and tell a story together! if someone isn't having fun, whether they're a player or gm, then something's wrong.

Ngl, Season 2 was … kinda boring. The only episodes I really did enjoy and found entertaining were :

*that one with Kris and Celina

*the one with Seth ( that one was the best! I mean, the closing door that made Colby have panic attack? Wow)

*the one with Nate

Eventually the last one too, but i did not enjoyed that much last ep, because they focused more on those “new methods” and while I think this is a cool thing, at the same time for a person who watches is not that exciting as for them experiencing it, because we do not experienced it, so we only have “proof” based on “dude, just trust me”. Which tbh, is not really much believable, because that kind of stuff could be easily faked. ( I’m not saying they faked it, i am saying that it can be just easily faked)

In Season 1 they focused more on equipment and estes. Things that have been much more enjoyable to watch and kept me focused all the time. Also i think that the reason why season 1 was more enjoyable is because they visited more places and those places were more “haunted” with some crazy stories. While Season 2 had really little places to visit and most of them were just chill, like almost no activity from them.

I would rate this season 6/10. It was good, but not as good as season 1.

i think both season one and season two had it dull moments. i preferred season two overall, just bc the theme was more broad (and honestly more interesting) than that of season one. i could go the rest of my life and not hear the word attachment again lol

also, literally just basing it off of my scores from my reviews, season 2 did better, but only by a smidge difference.

and funny enough, two of the episodes you listed i didn't really like. i think my top three would be bowers mansion, goatman's bridge, and zak bagan's museum. the finale could also be there too.

that being said, i get what you mean. the last episode, while i did really enjoy it, there were some hit or miss moments. i enjoyed the psychomanetum, but i don't really see that as a ghost hunting related… test? or indicator that a place is haunted. i think it's more of a psychological thing, and if they want to do it bc it "opens" them to the spirits in the building, then i think that's fine. i just kinda see it as a fun, extra thing more so than actual evidence.

as for the psychic they had in, while i'll explain why i didn't particular like him all that much in my review later, i do think it was interesting having them do those exercises. i've always believed that everyone is empathic in some way or another, it's whether or not you want to be. if you don't, nothing will happen. if you do, things will start to happen. and it was interesting that a couple different times, snc were seeing similar things, or one of them and faze would see something, but the others wouldn't. i think that's interesting, regardless of the fact that the audience didn't see what they were looking at. but i understand what you mean about it not being as engaging as the estes method or the other equipment.

i actually think them using the sls and the rempod together was fascinating. that was really cool, and showed that the rempod is the real deal. i hope they do more stuff like that, especially using the sls.

and as for the places, i think big buildings like prisons and insane asylums are cool for them to go to, but i kinda like the smaller, intimate houses they chose to go to this season. even the smaller hotels are more interesting to me. i think when we talk about an abandoned prison or a reformatory, i'm already expecting it to be haunted bc so much tragic shit happened there. but a random house in a random ass neighborhood… there's no guarantee it's haunted, but the couple they've gone to have been some of the more creepier places.

i also think that bc the bigger places have more history it can all get a bit… muddy, so to speak. love snc to death, but those boys suck at telling the history, so i think the more a place has, the less likely they're gonna get it right. it's not always the case, but it happens enough lol

plus i really loved this season just for the fact that for like, half a year, i and many others have been saying colby's empathic and to see him finally come to terms with it and wear it like a badge of honor… it was so fulfilling

i would rate season one a 5/10, and season two a 7.5/10. they were both good in their own ways, but also had some definite lows.

but it's totally cool that you liked season one better. i honestly loved both seasons. i just prefer season two more haha
