Now that I think about it, in your AmonSasa comics (I LOVE them btw, they are adorable), Amon still has both arms... BUT consider the additional angst if Amon survived but lost his arm? On one hand Kaneki is so relieved Amon is alive, but on the other hand oH No I CuT His ARM OFF! Poor Sasaki has no idea why he simultaneously feels this amount of relief and guilt towards this investigator he just met, oh no, why is he crying, this is so embarrassing... And Amon is just frozen, processing it all.
YEAHHHH When I originally drew the comic I think it slipped my mind, admittedly lol, but I've actually thought about it a lot it
I think, similar to other CCG members that had lost limbs in the Owl Operation (Juuzou, Kuroiwa), Amon would eventually be fitted with a prosthetic. Ooh, maybe when Haise and Amon first meet they shake hands, but when their hands meet and Haise stares down at them his face inexplicably falls. The inexplicable feeling of relief he'd felt (so much that he could almost cry) is suddenly swept up and replaced by guilt (also so much that he could also cry, Kaneki's putting Haise through a rollercoaster).
I'd imagine that Akira's definitely there too, and she asks Haise what's wrong, and oh, god, is he crying? He's holding Amon's hand in a death grip, Amon can't really pull away, but that probably doesn't matter since he's frozen in place anyway. On one hand oh god Haise might know something, or maybe he's making him remember, this is what the CCG was so worried about, and Akira's concerned and maybe she and Amon glance at each other worriedly, and Haise's confused but he's also shaking, it's a Mess of a "reunion"/"meeting".
Haise shakes it off, somehow, and decides to hang around with Amon for a lot of the day. When they're alone he apologizes profusely, says that he doesn't know what came over him, and Amon doesn't really know what to say, if there's anything he can say, poor guy probably just has to do his best to awkwardly reassure him LOL.
Haise probably plays it off casually from there, but he still feels a strange pinch of guilt when he looks at Amon's shoulder, or his arm. Kaneki no doubt feels awful about it, maybe one time Haise apologizes about it (for it?) to Amon. Amon is confused (and worried, about his memories) and Haise snaps out of it and says that he's not really sure why he apologized. Amon feels compelled to think that it wasn't Haise that apologized, but he also doesn't want to think about it.
Oh also some additional thoughts with Haise and Akira (First of all sidenote, someone mentioned in a reply that they were wondering if Sasaki would be mentored with Amon or Akira, I imagine he would still be paired with Akira, for a variety of reasons. Like I said while the CCG thinks Amon would be useful for 'extermination' operations, they aren't very comfortable about him and Haise getting too close, also I feel like since Amon would be promoted (he was promoted to First Class I think? in canon after his 'death') he would be busy with operations for higher ranking investigators, and Akira herself was specifically chosen in canon because of her ability to comfort Haise)
That said I think Akira, already weary, would try to keep the slight fiasco of Amon and Haise's first meeting out of discussion if possible, but one day Haise can't help but ask her about what happened to Amon's arm. Akira probably doesn't know what to answer, maybe keeps it vague, then Haise asks if it's similar to Investigator Juuzou, who lost his leg in the Owl Operation, and she has to swiftly shut him down before he can press further. It's not much, but it's a piece of a clue, something that must connect Haise and Kaneki.
Maybe Haise tries asking Kaneki about it once, though the answer isn't too different from what he says in canon ('It's my fault').
Sorry my brain runs on angst can you tell LOL, Amonhaise can be so silly but they can also be such a somber mess under the right circumstances. I think Haise would be confused and lost about it and how it makes him feel, but it would eventually become a massive tell towards his past. Ough thank you again for the banger ask :pray:

hello, Would you do how akaashi, semi and kunimi would wake up their s/o?
Hello! fun fact while I have written for Akaashi and Kunimi many times, I have never written for Semi so I am very excited LOL. I hope you enjoy this! Thanks so much for requesting!
How Akaashi, Semi and Kunimi would wake up their S/O
Characters: Akaashi, Semi and Kunimi x reader
Warnings: none really, just mentions of semi being a menace
Tumblr media
Akaashi Keiji:
When Akaashi wakes you up he is nothing short of gentle. 'Y/n, Darling, it's time to get up..'
Will never, and I repeat, NEVER do anything brash or harsh to wake you up.
Gentle calls of your name, softly rubbing your back up and down, anything and everything to give you a pleasant wake up.
If that doesn't work then he'll do all of those things with just a little bit more force but not much.
Like I said- he's incredibly gentle with you in the mornings, AKA he would never, let's say, dump a cup of cold water on your face (i'm lookin at you semi..)
You felt sleep begin to drift from you as a warm hand gently caressed up and down your back, Akaashi's deep voice slowly bringing you from your slumber. You blinked your eyes, slowly taking in a deep breath as you burrowed into your pillows. Akaashi smiled watching you snuggle further into your covers, gently patting your shoulders as he allowed you a few more seconds to wake up. "Good morning, it's about time to get up."
Semi Eita:
When Semi wakes you up it's a very steady progression from calm and nurturing to 'Y/n...if you don't WAKE UP-'
I'm not saying Semi is a volatile person who becomes angry at the drop of a hat.
However I am suggesting that he does have a little bit of a uh...
temper.
He gives you 3 nice attempts; calling your name softly, gently patting your shoulder, even gently turning up/on your favorite music.
But when that doesn't work, well then he pulls out all the stops and wages war.
"Y/n...Y/n wake up...Y/n I swear-" You heard him take in a deep breath, muttering things under his breath before you felt the covers shift and the mattress become lighter. You could hear his footsteps thumping across your room and into the attached master bathroom. Sensing he was going to resort to his less than preferable methods of getting you up, you sat up and stretched, giving him a smile and huffing a laugh when you see him covertly dump the cup of water he had gotten in the sink.
Kunimi Akira:
When Kunimi wakes you up it's out of urgency since it means you both over slept. 'Y/n...babe wake up...we're late'
Unless you are a super heavy sleeper, NOT a morning person, or just absolutely averse to getting up in the morning- it's unlikely he'll be the one waking you up.
As you're usually the one waking HIM up so he can well not be fired from his job.
But, on the off chance he's the one who has to wake you up, I can imagine him being very quiet, very calm and very dedicated to waking you up in a good mood.
especially if you're like me and out for blood when you wake up
"Y/n...Y/n...we overslept again." Thankfully today was Saturday so neither of you were currently running late for work...just the grocery run you guys were supposed to do last weekend. You both had planned to go out and get breakfast, walk around the stores a bit, basically make a whole day out of it. But the bed had been so warm...and so comfy and before you knew it it was 11 am and both of you were still fast asleep. It appears the same thing has happened this weekend. Only now you guys REALLY needed groceries. You groaned, not yet really wanting to face the day as you rolled over towards him. "...5 more minutes.." "Works for me".
just gonna go ahead and tag @i-just-like-goats because kunimi🤭

midnight ghost (UniteUp - Daiki/Akira)
In which Akira short-circuits Daiki's brain for 1.4k words.
***
Takao Daiki is beginning to think that his dorm room is haunted.
Granted he’s been pretty sleep-deprived these past two weeks between practice and study sessions, but he’s confident that this one is definitely not just his imagination!
It started a few days after he decided to stay up just a little bit later than usual for the next few weeks as his college workload began to pick up toward the last few months of the semester. He noticed shadows creeping under his door, shuffling noises, and sometimes the sound of heavy breathing. At first, he’d thought that it was just his mind growing tired from the lack of sleep but after he noticed it happening again and again throughout the next two weeks, it became clear to him that it was not just a trick of the light.
He’s never been good at dealing with ghosts, and now there’s one waiting for him outside his door every other night? Yeah, he would like to get nope of there now.
Now, every night, he's become overly wary of his door, worried that the shadows are going to turn into something creeping up his walls and watching him from the corner. Yeah, nope. He never wished he could leave his body and just…go away more than he does right now.
That's why, today, when he spots a few shadows under his door, he prepares himself to fight his way through the spirit before running away as his life depends on it. He isn't about to become its next victim. But, unfortunately for Daiki, what happens next is the sound of a knock on the door that makes him jump off his skin so hard that he manages to bump into his chair and fall to the ground with a loud thump. So much for having good control of his balance like the dancer that he is.
Fortunately, the voice that speaks from behind the door sends all his concerns of a college student-eating ghost flying away like it never existed.
“Daiki-kun, are you okay? I heard a loud noise,”
Oh. It's Akira. Just Akira. Not a ghost. Thank god.
Daiki lets out a relieved sigh and manages to get up and unlock the door, rubbing the part of his forehead that he bumped against the floor. When he opens the door, Akira smiles with a note of relief, although it's quickly replaced with a concerned look over the fresh bruise on Daiki’s temple.
“It’s not a big deal.” Daiki opens the door wider, inviting the red-haired idol inside his dorm without a word.
Akira frowns, shuffling closer to him. He examines Daiki’s forehead closely until their faces are inches away from one another. Daiki blinks, feeling his breath hitch in his throat. As usual, the close proximity gets Daiki blushing pathetically. He just has to wonder at that point. When will Akira stop having such an effect on him?
The two of them are now halfway through their first year in college, having gotten into the same university by some pure coincidence. Although both of them also live in the campus dorms, they don’t see each other as often as one would think. For one, their majors were completely different and their classes were usually in separate buildings. Not to mention their idol activities. It doesn’t just take a backseat just because their academic workload has increased, both are still extremely passionate about their jobs. Despite all that, campus life has been relatively peaceful save for some rumors here and there, and they do make it work as best as they can.
That being said, it has been a few weeks now since they last saw each other face to face, so maybe it was worth it for Daiki to get this bruise just so he could see Akira.
“Not so close, geez,” Daiki mutters, though he doesn’t actually mind being this close to Akira. “It’s fine, it’ll go away in a few days.”
Akira frowns. “But I see blood.”
“It barely scratched me.”
In the end, it’s not like Daiki is very strong when it comes to Akira, especially when he’s looking at him like that.
That’s how they end up sitting on his dorm room bed, Akira’s hands opening up a piece of band-aid and applying it to the (very tiny) scar on Daiki’s forehead. “Why did you use this one?!”
Akira laughs softly. “Why? It’s cute!”
The band-aid in question that’s now stuck to Daiki’s forehead is one that’s covered in little red hearts. It looks absolutely ridiculous. Well, no point in taking it off at this point, he thinks with a small sigh. At least one of them is happy.
“How’re your studies going?” Akira asks, glancing at the stack of books on Daiki’s desk.
He shrugs. “I was about to finish for the day.”
Oh. There’s now a small mischievous glint in Akira’s eyes, that little rebellious and teasing side of him rearing its head. Though the redhead is mostly bright and cheerful to everyone around him, he has a gremlin-like teasing side that he unleashes on people he considers close. Daiki can’t count how many times Akira has made him turn into a mess through his mischievous streak.
And he’s about to do it again.
Akira straightens his legs and pats his thighs. “Why not take a little break then?”
“Ha-?!” Daiki almost jumps back in shock. He’d been thinking of what Akira was going to say, but this was something else.
The redhead laughs. “Come on, it’s just you and me here! I want to try it~!”
Daiki’s face is completely red at that point. He’s still looking at Akira as if he’s said some outrageous, out-of-pocket declaration. It’s not that he’s against using Akira’s lap as a pillow (Oh, far from it if he’s being honest), but just the thought of it makes him want to cover his face in absolute embarrassment.
“You, I, you, huh?! No way! I don’t think-”
“Daiki-kun, please?”
It takes only a few seconds before Daiki wilts under Akira’s request. The redhead’s lips curl into a satisfied smile as Daiki lies down with Akira’s lap under his head. As he looks up, cheeks still very red, all he sees is Akira’s pleased expression and he finds himself feeling just a slightly less bit embarrassed than before. They stay like that for a while, Akira’s hand coming up to gently brush the strands of hair Daiki didn’t manage to brush. His hair has grown slightly longer than it used to be, reaching the base of his neck, and it seems like Akira liked to run his hand through it.
“But really, how’s everything going? Anything eventful happened?”
“Hmm…not really. Though I thought my dorm room was haunted for a second.”
Akira’s hand stops its movement. “Haunted?”
Daiki shifts uncomfortably in his spot from being reminded of his previous dilemma. “Y-yeah. I think it’s just because I’ve been sleeping late, but sometimes I think there’s someone in front of my dorm room at night. Shuffling around, breathing and sighing, that kind of thing.”
“Oh.” Akira leans back slightly, an unreadable expression on his face. “Uhm…Daiki-kun…did this ghost happens to be there last night….?”
“Yeah,” Daiki looks back at Akira who’s avoiding his gaze. “How did you know?”
Suddenly, it’s Akira’s turn to blush heavily, his eyes flicking back at Daiki before looking away almost immediately as if he’s too embarrassed to look at him. It hits him at that very moment. The truth behind his little haunting.
“That was you?!” Daiki slowly sits back and gives Akira a questioning look. “What the hell, Akira?”
“I’m sorry! I didn’t know it would spook you,” Akira gives him an apologetic look, his lips pouting slightly.
“But what were you doing…?”
“Well you’ve been busy with your studies for the exams so I thought I would invite you to relax in between as like a refresher.” Akira sighs, looking away again with a blush. “I got to your door but didn’t know how to ask…so I just didn’t.”
“You could’ve just knocked….but, well, I am glad that it wasn’t a ghost after all.” Daiki exhales with relief. At least now he’ll sleep better during the night.
“Sorry…I just really missed you this past few weeks so I-” Akira lets out a gasp, cutting off his words immediately as he scrambles to get up from the bed. Embarrassed and incoherent noises leave his lips. It takes a long time for Daiki’s mind to finally process what Akira had just said and when his brain.exe finally starts working again, Akira has run out of the room.
Really. Akira is just too much for his heart sometimes.

you know, ive never actually talked about my detective princes au much here. the main idea is pretty simple: naoto moves to tokyo around the 2nd or 3rd palace of P5R to do his own investigation. i think he'd pretty quickly catch on to something fishy happening with the thieves, right? since he has experience in supernatural world shenanigans, after the inaba murders.
i could talk about it for so long but to keep this post from being practically a fanfiction, i'll keep the point on this — through the investigation he mainly works with akechi, and after everything is over, i always love to think they move back to inaba together. like his own rehabilitation, mirroring akira's.
honestly, it's mostly because... i don't know, akechi instantly coming back to the thieves after p5 just seems strange to me? i think it's very out of character for both him and them. i definitely think he'd talk to some of them after some time, but they would need a lot of distance. some recovery for both groups is more than needed. (but to be fair, i imagine them believing akechi is dead through this time, so i don't know how much it'd actually help LMAO)
but i digress. i admit it'd take a lot for this to work too. problem 1: naoto would definitely know everything akechi's done at this point — why in the world would he forgive a mass murderer and bring him back to his hometown? problem 2: on akechi's side, why would HE agree to this? if royal proved anything, it's that if akechi lives at all, he believes he should repent for his crimes, and running away is hardly repenting. (huge emphasis on the if he lives at all.)
i have thought about this! solution 1: maybe i'm crazy, but i do think naoto would see the gray area in akechi. he isn't like the inaba murderer, who was childishly bitter with the world around him for little reason. i'm not saying he wouldn't be mad at akechi at all, he absolutely would, but i think he would kind of get it. it's a detective prince thing: i think they just have that ability to see through each other in a lot of ways. a kind of "they understand each other more than anyone else could". that's my favorite thing about them, i think. because they really are kinda similar. their circumstances changed them, for better or for worse. especially with the kind of bonding i imagine they did over the span of his stay in tokyo, i imagine naoto would be hesitant to throw that away so easily. (in this scenario, naoto would have moved to tokyo on his own after staying in inaba with friends for a few years. he still isn't the greatest at making new friends, so of course he'd like someone who already stands on common ground with him, another detective prince. and it would just grow from there.)
but akechi is a murderer. what if he did something horrible in inaba? this is probably a silly concern knowing akechi like we do, but i imagine it'd be a real one for naoto, or at least the investigation team. solution 1.5: i think he'd be able to trust him. akechi committed his crimes working for shido, and with him gone, he'd have no motive to do anything. that's important, especially for a detective. he also did everything through the metaverse (which would be gone) and was repulsed at seeing the effects in the real world (remember the scene where he almost pukes at the sight of okumura? now that i think about it, that's actually a kinda funny comparison to the inaba murderer who i havent been naming because p4 spoilers are unnecessary but you probably know them. anyway,)
moreover, the fact that naoto is placed in the p5 storyline here... it means this would be the second time he's seen the world almost end. can you imagine what that would do to someone. i think he'd value lives a little more, i dunno.
solution 2: honestly, i can't think of many reasons akechi would accept, other than simply the strength of that bond winning out. which is lovely and all, yeah i definitely think he would appreciate naoto after it's all said and done, eventually, but ive thought of one more option and it's cooler to me: a duel. he's really competitive (they both are). a battle with such high stakes would surely interest him. you know how he wanted so badly to see akira go all out? this would give that to him, not for akira, but for someone he respects deeply, a huge role model for him. the idea of that is DELICIOUS. they would duel, akechi would lose and hold up his end of the deal. (by the way, i imagine this taking place while the phantom thieves are fighting yaldabaouth)
but, above all, after all of that, just... the idea of akechi finally getting to rest is really nice. away from much of the spotlight in such a small town, with someone who understands him and wants him around, i think it'd be really healing for him. we all know he needs it. it'd be a transitional period for sure — a time of peace before he returns to fulfill his promise to akira.

Days are melting together again now that Akira is back in the office. Notably enough, Keigo isn’t seeking her out the way he used to, putting her on edge. Though, she can only assume it’s because of the workload; even she can tell based on the sheer amount of cases coming across the screens just how hard he is working. Still, she can’t deny the ache in her chest after their phone calls, ones filled with their usual banter but laced with a new kind of tension as they tiptoe around the obvious. Though Akira is too scared to give power to the words that linger on the tip of her tongue after seeing him on TV - his tired eyes growing darker, his movements more sluggish. It is probably nothing except for how overworked he has become in the past weeks, but she can’t help but wonder if it’s something more. Even Nobari and Ioni have taken notice of how his persona is slipping and have brought it up, and all Akira can do is dismiss it in fear of letting her imagination run wild with what it all could mean, especially after the abrupt way their last encounter ended.
“You coming with us tonight?” Yuri’s voice pulls Akira’s attention from her computer screen, and she’s not even registering any of it since she’s lost in thought. Her eyes are dry and itchy from all the screen time, and she can’t help rubbing the base of her palms into her eyes, pushing her glasses up her forehead in the process.
“Sorry, what?” Yuri’s exasperated scoff and sigh from being ignored make her smile slightly.
“Gah, what am I going to do with you?” He swats at her arm, earning a laugh. “It’s Ren’s birthday, remember?” She nods as he speaks.
“That’s right, it’s his 28th,” she acknowledges, and upon her recollection, he smiles and sighs approvingly.
“So are you coming?” He chimes, and she almost feels bad for telling him no.
“I can’t. I’m so sorry. My mom is coming to visit for the weekend, remember?”
“Right! Oh, that’s right, I’m sorry. She’s doing better?”
“Yeah, a little bit. I think it’ll be good for her to get away.” When her mom had called earlier in the week to ask if spending the weekend would work, Akira was excited to get to see her outside of the context of everything that’s happened in the past few months. It would be nice to catch up and reconnect. She can only hope her mother is in that kind of headspace and that the visit will be a rejuvenating one. Now with it being Friday and her arrival this evening looming, the anxiety is starting to bubble in her chest.
“Well, that’s good! I hope her visit is everything you both need,” he smiles and gives her elbow a little nudge. “You’ll have to tell me how telling her about Hawks goes.” Akira rolls her eyes before shushing him and returning his nudge with a stronger one. The last thing she needs is someone else in the agency to find out. It’s at this moment she regrets confessing to Yuri their complicated relationship, even if it is just surface-level details. It is enough ammo to still tease the crap out of her. In the same breath, she appreciates his openness, and with his vow to keep everything a secret, he’s been a good friend to her in the past weeks as she vents her feelings and worries. Though his attempts to remind her that he’s just busy and is probably waiting for things to slow down work-wise before pushing forward with her fall on deaf ears.
“You and I both know I don’t want to tell her that if I can help it. She doesn’t need to worry about me any more than she needs to.”
“Ha, like she doesn’t need to know about your dancing?” He teases and earns another push. “Okay, okay, I get it. It’s complicated. I’ll stop. Just remember she’s just your mother, and she has every right to worry.” He pokes the side of her head and gives it a light push.
“Thanks, you dweeb,” she mocks in return. Yuri laughs and stands to leave after shutting down his computer.
“You planning on staying late again?”
“No, not tonight. I have to run a couple of errands on my way home before picking her up from the station, which,” she glances at the time, “I guess, I should be finishing up.”
“Do you want me to wait for you?” After she confessed to him what happened that night on her way home, he’s been more attentive to make sure she doesn’t end up in that kind of position again.
“Nah, I’m just going to the subway, then the store for some groceries. Maybe stop to grab some sake and flowers, but we will see.”
 With a nod, Yuri pats her on the shoulder before waving as he leaves, casting a call me if you need to vent over his shoulder.
A quick stretch and she refocuses on her screen to close her cases for the day. One of them has been bouncing back to her center for a few days now - a single father of a small child who was left widowed after his wife died as a result of an accident several months back. She recognizes the name on the file, the photo of the young father, the little boy holding a stuffed animal to his chest, and the now-deceased young woman. This part right here is what makes the job so difficult. Just a few days prior when she got this file on her workstation for the first time, she had to step away to cry in the bathroom. No one should have to die like that or leave loved ones to deal with the aftermath in such a way. She’s been trying to get their claims approved all week, but it keeps getting rejected back by the insurance company. While she doesn’t want to leave the case open over the weekend, she doesn’t have much of a choice if she wants to get everything done in time to meet her mother at the station in time. With a heavy sigh, she shuts down her computer and grabs her purse. She will deal with it first thing Monday morning.
On her way out, she considers taking the elevator up to Keigo’s floor but the likelihood of finding him there is slim. On top of that, she doesn’t want to run into his main agent, who in passing has given her sharp glances and frowns of disdain. Akira isn’t sure what all she knows, but she sure doesn’t make Akira feel welcome up there anymore. Besides, she doesn’t have the time to spare today anyway, no matter how much she wants to simply see his face.
It’s not long before she has made her way down the street to the subway station. Her ride isn’t very long, but the subway car is full during rush hour. She’s lucky to catch a seat near the door, passively scrolling on her phone to pass the time. She’s not sure when exactly the stranger beside her joined her, but his voice draws her attention.
“This is going to sound weird, but do I know you?” She glances up at the stranger and his gray suit and tie. His face is plain, and he doesn’t spark any recollection; however, working at The Den, maybe he is a regular? Or maybe he also works at the agency and they had seen each other in passing?
“I’m sorry, no, I don’t think so?” She answers apologetically.
“Well, are you Hatori Akira?” She raises a brow.
“Depends who’s asking. Who are you?” His voice lowers, and it’s almost lost in the noise of the subway and packed-in strangers around them.
“I’m with Juko News. You know, you’re a hard one to track down.” Immediately, her shoulders tense, and she straightens up in her seat. Of course, one of them would corner her in a packed train car to get her to talk. After the issues with the press, she got coaching from Keigo’s agent on how to handle them in the future - keep walking, don’t confirm or deny anything, and don’t react. Of course, in this predicament, she has nowhere to go to get away from him until they arrive at the next stop, so she takes a slow, deep breath to steady herself.
“Have you ever considered that maybe people who are hard to find don’t want to be found?” She keeps her voice low, so the people around her don’t take notice. A soft chuckle from her unwanted partner makes her skin itch.
“Well, I just have a few questions, and if you don’t want to answer them, that’s fine,” he dismisses her question as he pulls a little pad from his pocket, and she lets another calming breath loose. Keep a straight face, don’t react, and remain calm. “When did you start working at Hawks Hero Agency?” Her eyes wander across the floor, tracing the soles of other passengers’ shoes. When she doesn’t answer after a few moments, he scribbles on his notepad. “I know you’ve gotten this one before, but I must ask. Are you and Hawks a couple? A fling? Surely, there is something after all those photos got leaked.” Again, she keeps as straight of a face as she can as her eyes fall on a pair of simple, red flats. All else starts to fade away from the edges of her vision as she keeps her focused gaze on them. After another few moments, he scribbles and presses on. “How about your work outside of the agency?” Her ear twitches. What does he mean by that? She bites her tongue, her mind starting to race. “I’m sure they know of your risqué form of work, is that correct?” She attempts to school her breathing into more calming breaths, but she knows she is starting to slip under his pressing. He can see it, too. “Though, according to my findings, you haven’t been performing, have you? Unless you moved companies.” Her heart is banging against her chest. If he knows this much, what else does he know? How will he use that against her? With a slow, steadying breath, keeping her eyes wholly focused on those red flats to avoid his prying gaze, she draws her shoulders back before she speaks.
“I do not want to speak with you,” she says firmly before standing and moving a few steps toward the door, stepping around the people in her path. When he follows, she stifles a groan.
“I only have one more question.” As he presses into her personal space, her instinct to hiss at him rises, but she does her best to press it down, to not make a scene or react. The train is slowing as the next platform nears, so she is nearly free. Once the doors are open, she can make a run for it. That still doesn’t prepare her for what he practically whispers into her ear. “Does the agency know of your relationship with Pro Hero Todo Hikari?”
Her heart nearly stops, her eyes widening slightly as the terror rises. No one aside from a handful of her closest friends and family know of her relationship with Hikari, so how is this press scumbag bringing it up? It’s been three years since the incident, so surely it can’t be relevant anymore. Then again, with rumors of Hawks dating a girl who works at his agency who just so happens to have a past with another Pro Hero? She can only imagine the kind of headline that would be and how much money that would make. As the train slows and the platform comes into view through the windows, he presses once more.
“What relationship did you have?” All else falls away, her vision blurring with weak tears, and it’s almost like she can see him standing before her, though his face is distorted by the blurring optics of the lights reflecting on the glass of the door. Hikari. My warrior, my hero. When she doesn’t respond, he risks touching her shoulder, making her jolt back into reality. Slowly she meets this bastard’s eyes for the first time since his questioning started, and the dead, visceral look she gives makes him take a step back.
“Whatever we had, it died with him.” Her voice is harsh, quiet, and dark. Based on how he takes another step back like she is about to bite, she hopes her tone works at discouraging him from following her. With that, she steps from the train and makes her way back above ground, leaving him behind in the bustle of rush hour.
-*-*-*-
A couple of hours after Akira ran into that bastard from Juko News, she is sitting on a bench at the train platform waiting for her mother to arrive. Upon fleeing the subway station, she diverted her energy to her errands and completed them as quickly as possible before heading home. Paranoid the entire time, she took different paths than she wouldn’t normally take, and thankfully, she didn’t see that scumbag again. In an attempt to burn off her anxious energy, she poured it into tidying her apartment and making it presentable - the photos of her friends at the dance hall now hidden in a box under her bed, her dance clothes stashed in a laundry bag in the back of her closet. She even managed to throw together a meal in the slow cooker, so something would be ready when they got back.
Sitting with her legs crossed, she pulls her phone from her pocket to check the time. It’s later than expected, but she knows the train sometimes runs late. She brought her headphones, but to hear the train approaching, she has one ear exposed while music plays in the other, a pleasant change from the hurricane of thoughts that have swarmed since her encounter. While she hopes nothing will come of it, she sighs and opens her chat with Keigo.
It’s been a few days. Hope you’re doing okay.
Just a heads up, a guy from Juko News caught me on the subway today. I tried to ignore him. Hopefully nothing comes of that.
After a few minutes of no response, she sighs. He must be really busy tonight. Sucking on her teeth, she sends another.
I need to talk to you about something before someone else does. Whenever you get the chance, let me know, and we can meet up.
The sound of the approaching train pulls her away from her phone and pushes all thoughts of the train incident out of her mind, so she quickly pockets her phone and stands. As it slows to a stop, she can see her mother’s face between the window frames. Even from afar, she can tell she is much more herself. Her face is more relaxed, and she’s been taking care of herself. Once she steps off the train, Akira hurries to hug her, dwarfing her since she is a few inches taller than her mother, getting her height from her dad.
“Oh, there you are!” Her mother’s laugh is contagious as she pulls her in tightly. “Look at you!” She squeezes Akira’s face between her hands. “You look so good! I’m glad you’re doing better.”
“You, too, Amma,” Akira smiles and takes her suitcase. Now closer, she can see the familiar fine lines across the features of her mother’s face, but already she can tell her usual youthfulness has returned; though, the grey hairs in her long black hair have multiplied. “Let's get home. I have dinner ready.” Just the thought of a warm meal melts Amma’s heart, and they head to her apartment.
The evening stretches on as they settle in, talk, and eat. It’s been years since they’ve connected like this, and Akira had forgotten how much she missed it, even if she felt the need to curate herself to her mother’s expectations. From memories of growing up at the old house to stories of her parents when they were young. From talking about her work at the agency to tiptoeing around the details of her dancing. They even touched on her father’s condition, and to her relief, he’s starting to improve, if only slowly. He can speak a few simple sentences now, and he’s in physical therapy. Naturally, the discussion eventually falls on the topic of Akira’s love life.
“So,” Amma hums from her spot on the couch, Akira’s usual spot, the spare blanket draped over her legs. Akira sits opposite of her with her own, the one Keigo used and the one that has kept her company since the last they saw each other, “seeing anyone? You never tell us these things anymore.” Amma sips from her sake glass as Akira blushes slightly and sighs, resting her head on her arm that’s along the back of the couch.
“Well, that’s… complicated.” Amma’s interest piqued, that small light in her eyes sparkling, she leans over slightly. Akira bites her tongue, unsure if she wants to open up this conversation in the first place.
“What kind of complicated?”
“Stupidly complicated.” She pouts when Amma laughs.
“Well, uncomplicated it for me. We have time.” Akira glances away, mulling it over one more time. However, she decides to just rip off the bandaid. She knows she’s not a good liar, and her mother could always pinpoint when she tried. Let alone now that they have both had a little bit to drink, and Akira’s nose and lips are growing slightly tingly, the first signs of a buzz coming on.
“Well, let’s see,” Akira rolls her tongue over her teeth as she carefully considers what information she can share. “There is someone, but it isn’t official.” Amma urges her to continue as she sips some more, and Akira sighs. “I know you’re not going to like who it is,” she says softly, glancing toward her mother’s curious eyes but quickly glancing away, unable to hold her all-seeing gaze.
“Can’t be worse than that hero boy,” she scoffs softly and continues to drink, but when Akira’s blush deepens, and she refuses to answer, her fingers twiddling with a loose thread on the blanket’s edge, Amma straightens up as she nearly chokes on her drink. Once she clears her throat, she sets her glass aside and sighs. “Oh, Akira, you didn’t,” she whispers in almost disbelief. When Akira shushes her in return, Amma’s sharp laugh rings out, making her flinch.
“Please, don’t make this a big deal. It’s not like I meant for this to happen,” she groans and rubs her face in her hands as if that will soften her embarrassment and drain the redness from her cheeks. After a moment to compose her disbelief, Amma sighs and smiles softly. When Akira was growing up, she always teased that she was her little fool, and in an instance like this, she can’t help but be reminded of her daughter’s wandering heart.
“Akira, dear, you have a way of picking men, and I pity you,” Amma teases before leaning over more. “So, tell me, who is it? It is a man, right?” With an exaggerated eye roll, Akira can’t help but nod.
“Yes, he’s a man.” Her mom is fully aware Akira is bi, and her little poke weirdly eases some of the anxiety building. “And I know for a fact you know of him.”
“Oh, a big name?” She pauses to take in Akira’s embarrassed, blushing face. Seeing her this way is very reminiscent of how she shyly told her parents about Hikari and begged to keep it a secret because he hadn’t told anyone yet, and they were trying to keep it private for the time being. Little did they know at the time, it would never make it to public knowledge.
“Yes.” Akira bites her lip as she watches her mother consider, running down a list of names mentally.
“Well, I would hope it’s not Endeavor. He’s married.”
“Amma! Please, take this seriously,” she groans loudly, pulling her blanket up to shield herself. “No, absolutely not.” The memory of dancing for him flashes behind her eyes, the way his fire-laced eyes skated over her skin, and she almost groans a second time. She can’t believe she felt some sort of way about her performances for him at one point. Now just the idea of him makes her stomach turn, especially in the context of imagining a relationship. Keigo had opened up about Endeavor only a little bit in passing, and what she heard she didn’t like.
“Edgeshot? I mean, I think he’s still a little too old for you, in my opinion, but-“
“No. And he’s only nine years older. Not that big of an age gap,” Akira teases in return. Amma pauses again to consider. Admittedly, she isn’t up to date on the current heroes list. It’s not something she needed to know while living in their small town. Akira starts to pick at her nails nervously, but when Amma’s eyes light up with recognition, Akira knows she is caught.
“Is it that Hawks guy? He’s young, isn’t he?” She raises a brow as Akira fidgets under her mother’s watchful eye.
“He’s 23,” she admits defeatedly, earning a small teasing laugh.
“Ah, just a year younger than you. And a bright one, huh? He comes off pretty flashy, but I can see it. What rank is he now?” Akira hesitates, and as Amma witnesses her expression fall, she knows the answer isn’t good.
“Number 2.” The silence between them grows as the light atmosphere dies, and her mother’s expression falls with hers.
“Akira,” she deflates, her tone dropping like she’s reprimanding a child. When Akira refuses to meet her eyes, she reaches over to take hold of her hands. “You know the risk. I know you do. Hikari-“
“Don’t.” She begs as her throat automatically tightens at the mention of his name for the second time today. “I know, it’s stupid and risky. You don’t think I don’t think about that every single day?” Akira’s sharp eyes snap up to her mother’s with those damn burning tears in the corners of her eyes. “It’s been three years, Amma.” Her voice weakens and trembles. “I’m tired of pretending it didn’t happen. I’m tired of being alone. But…,” her breath is hot as she sighs deeply as she attempts to wipe the suddenly overwhelming tears on her shoulder, “this wasn’t a chase, all right? We just-,” she takes a shaky breath, her words dying in her tightening throat. When the tears keep coming, her mother scooches closer to wipe her tears and pull her into a hug.
“Oh, my dear, no. I know,” she comforts into the top of her head as she cradles her closer. They let the silence grow, Akira’s silent tears soaking into her mother’s shirt. When Amma decides to speak, it is gentle as her fingers caress her curly hair. “I just don’t want to see you get hurt like that again.” Akira tries to pull away to wipe her tears properly, but Amma stops her, taking her wet face in her hands. “But if this is the path you’ve chosen, you don’t have to walk it alone. Okay?” She pets her hair back from her face tenderly, and Akira nods into her hands.
“I know.” As her mother’s fingers lightly tuck her loose bits of hair behind her ears, Akira can’t help but feel like a child again, but after the whirlwind of the past few months, it’s a welcome comfort. After a few moments and Akira’s demeanor relaxes once more, Amma smiles teasingly.
“So, are you going to tell me about him?” With a small, wet laugh, Akira tries to clear her throat and finishes wiping her face with the edge of her blanket.
“Well, we met at work, by accident. Started out being friendly, just friends for a while. It was actually his help that allowed me to take that month off to come help you. He’s a good friend.” As Akira recalls the big beats of their friendship, Amma relaxes back into her spot, a small smile forming at the corners of her lips. Seeing how Akira eases into opening up, how her reddened face relaxes when she talks about him, she knows she’ll be okay.
“I’ll have to thank him someday. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without you,” she praises softly, resting her head on her hand, and Akira nods.
“After I came back, we’ve been… I don’t know. We’ve always flirted, but it’s been different. It’s just- it’s a busy season now, and he’s gone a lot, so I don’t get to see him much these days.” Her mother hums considerately.
“So it’s not public yet?”
“No, we aren’t even official. Though, the press thinks otherwise. I’ve had a couple run-ins with them now,” Akira groans again. Her mother’s laugh is light and teasing.
“You think it’ll be rough once it’s out? At least with-,” she hesitates and steps around saying Hikari’s name, “before, you had the luxury of privacy. But with him?” She laughs after a small scoff. “I don’t know much about that kind of stuff, but even back home, we know of him. Word spreads like wildfire, let alone when it’s involving someone like a pro hero of his caliber.”
“I know,” Akira apprehensively glances around her thoroughly-settled apartment, “I’ll probably have to move,” she jokes and they both laugh. After a light pause, Amma’s voice softens.
“Is that something you’re willing to give up for him? Your privacy?” Amma asks, eyes watching Akira’s face closely, gauging her response. Akira hesitates only a moment or two before nodding.
“Yes, I think so.”
As the evening drifts by, they continue discussing Hawks, Akira pointedly avoids saying his real name out of respect. That’s not her secret to share. Even when they move from the couch to the kitchen to clean up dinner, Amma keeps the questions coming, and Akira answers willingly. Have they kissed? Been on a date? How often do they see each other? How soon after making it official will it be made public? Will there be periods he won’t be around? All good questions, most of which she has answers to, but a few she doesn’t. Though, she hopes she will have them soon. Her complicated feelings around not seeing him the past weeks coupled with her nerves make a stomach-turning mix that she can’t handle for much longer.
-*-*-*-
It was supposed to be a typical Friday, but the planets aligned in such a way that Keigo and Enji haven’t been able to stop. Between things amping up and the usual teasing border lining on bullying between the two heroes, Keigo’s heat is finally starting to ebb but at the worst possible time. As it begins to burn itself off, he feels the weight of its absence, his energy plummeting and his movements sluggish. While he’s really appreciative of it finally coming to an end after it overstayed its welcome for weeks, the perks of its presence are waning as well, but he can’t stop, not yet. He’s so close to burning out, but he just needs a few more days, and he will have some much-needed time off and finally have the time to seek out Akira.
God, Akira, she’s a whole other thing that’s thoroughly pressed to the forefront of his mind, as always. After leaving her sitting alone in her dark apartment that morning, that small, weak part of him cracked. In his resolve to push through, however, he has had to put her to the side, and he knows that must be making her feel some sort of way. Even on their calls, the tinge of worry in her tone is obvious, and Nobari was right - Akira is a terrible liar, so when he asks what’s on her mind, her stuttering self can’t hide it, try as she might. He wants nothing more than to just air his dirty laundry and confess everything that’s been going on with him. How his heat has made it impossible to be near her but he can’t stray far either. How he feels when he thinks about her, when he sees her. How just the thought of her being followed home made his blood boil and he would have done anything at that moment if it meant keeping her safe. At least now with his heat’s end in sight, he can finally breathe a sigh of relief. He will tell her once it’s past.
“‘Ey, kid, act alive!” Enji yells before throwing a small rock at Keigo’s head, which he dodges easily, and one of his feathers slingshots it back at the larger hero, who isn’t as quick to dodge. A tension headache immediately erupts across Keigo’s forehead and behind his eyes, and he glares at his partner. “God, kid, you’ve got it bad. Can’t even hold a conversation with you.” Keigo considers shooting him a snide comment, but he doesn’t have the energy. Instead, he sighs, his hand rubbing the side of his face.
“You know, you have a way of pissing people off,” Keigo groans and squats down to watch the streets below. Enji sneers before approaching to join him along the railing of the building they are using as their perch, rubbing the spot the rock impacted to soothe the pain.
“Ya know, you’d be a lot more pleasant to be around if you just got it over with instead of holding onto it. You’ve been so damn irritable.”
“For more reasons than one,” he glares out of the corner of his eye toward his literal hot head of a partner.
“Yeah, and the main one is that girl, right?” When Keigo doesn’t answer, Enji sniffs in pride and leans into the railing. “Why are you making this so hard? Just fuckin’ tell her already.” They have talked about Akira before, but the longer Keigo’s gone without seeing her, she’s become a sore subject between them, one he avoids at all costs. Hearing her name in Enji’s voice makes the hair on the back of his neck stand on end, and thankfully, the older man finally caught on and started just referring to her as that girl, which isn’t much better, but it takes the possessive edge off, at least. When they were assigned to patrol together today, he knew Enji would bring her up eventually, and now under the late afternoon sun, exhausted and grumpy from the laborious patrol, he wishes he could leave him on the roof. But their shift isn’t done yet, so there is no way to avoid his prying now.
“Not that it’s any of your business,” Keigo sighs and rubs the back of his neck in a feeble attempt to ease some of his built-up tension. After sucking on his teeth, he chooses the path with the least resistance. “She likes me. At least, I would hope so, considering she was going to kiss me before you called.” He sends Enji a glare over the collar of his jacket. “And I like her, obviously.”
“Obviously,” he mocks in return. Anything to ruffle his feathers. “So what’s the problem?” Keigo sighs deeply and gestures widely to himself, making Enji’s flaming eyebrow lift questioningly.
“I’m not myself right now. You of all people know that. I could lose myself and hurt her or scare her off. And I don’t want to do that.” The hand on his neck slips forward to cover the lower half of his face instinctively. Saying it out loud gives it power it didn’t have before. “So I’m staying away,” he sighs under his breath. Enji hums beside him.
“Have you told her that? That that’s why you’re not going to see her?”
“No,” he says softly. He should have told her sooner. He knows that. He feels stupid for not at least hinting at it, but again, from fear of giving the desire more power over him than it already had, he kept his mouth shut.
“Well, there’s your problem. You said your heat thing should be over in about a week, right? That’s when you get your break?” Keigo nods slightly. “Well, there you go. Fix it, kid. Tell her. Don’t make her wait that long. Who knows, maybe in the time you’ve been fucking around, she thinks you moved on and is looking for someone else.” The immediate image of Akira in bed with another person over her makes him freeze, his wings tensing against his back protectively. He hadn’t considered that possibility. He doesn’t think he gave her that perception, that he wasn’t interested, but then again, maybe in staying away he hadn’t affirmed he was either. Though he hates to admit it, Enji has a point. With a heavy sigh, he pulls his phone from his pocket, and when he sees her name at the top, he quickly checks her messages, and immediately his feathers bristle, earning a glance from Enji as he scans the screen as well. Despite the warning of another bump-in with the press, the only thing that piques his interest is the final message.
I need to talk to you about something before someone else does.
“Shiiiiit,” he groans slowly, rubbing the lower half of his face with his hand in an attempt to self-soothe. Fucking fantastic. A snide chuckle from his partner earns him another glare.
“See, you need to stomp that fire out before it gets outta hand.” Keigo snorts as his eyes trace the words again and again. What does she want to tell him? Could be a lot of things, but the newly planted seed of doubt, of her wanting someone else, the image of her limbs interlaced with someone else’s, grows quickly. When he falls silent, Enji sighs and gives him a push. “Go home and shower. You fucking need it.” When Keigo looks at him skeptically, irritation painted on his face, Enji groans. “God, you’re helpless. I’ve got it, just go and get it done already. Your head’s not in the game when you’re like this.” For a moment, Keigo doesn’t move, the fear of actually confronting this now rising in his veins, but after a moment of hesitation, he doesn’t let it take over. With a sigh, he nods.
“Fine, you ass. Don’t be stupid while I’m gone.” Keigo pulls his visor down, but Enji catches him before he takes off.
“For the record, you’ll do just fine. If she likes you, you don’t have anything to worry about.” Enji gives his shoulder an almost uncomfortable pat. If he didn’t know any better, he would assume he didn’t have kids because of how unnatural it felt coming from him. Then again, Keigo knows Enji isn’t the best father either, so it’s not a surprise it comes off almost robotic. “Now go get her. Out of anyone, you earned a break.” Keigo’s eyes roll, but a smirk picks up his expression from the subtle praise. With a newfound determination, Keigo steps off the side of the building, falling several floors before his wings catch air, and he takes off for his apartment.
-*-*-*-
Freshly showered and dressed in day clothes, Keigo flies toward Akira’s apartment a few hours later. He had sent a response that he was on his way over before leaving his place, but he resolutely decided to leave his phone at home after all the trouble it caused last time. It’s dark now, stars littering the darkened sky, but it’s not late, so he hopes she didn’t go out with Yuri, or worse, go on a date in his absence. A pang of jealousy strikes his chest just at the thought, making him scoff at himself. She’s not even his, but tell that possessive part of his bird brain. The air is crisp, but not too cold, reviving him and washing away any remaining irritability from before as he flies. His heart is already in his throat as her balcony comes into view, and a wave of relief and new-found anxiety washes over him when he sees the lights are on inside. Coming to a soft landing, he takes a moment to smooth his shirt, but when he looks up, he doesn’t find her alone.
Akira and another woman are standing at the kitchen counters, chatting softly as they clean. Another sudden wave of jealousy rises, but he takes in the sweetly domestic moment before he recognizes who she must be - Akira’s mother. Shit, that’s right, she told him earlier this week that she was coming this weekend, but in the whirlwind of his schedule, he had forgotten. In a brief panic, he almost turns to leave, but with the balcony door being left open, he can hear their soft chatting. Akira’s voice is laced with a tenderness he has only heard a couple of times, but it always brings a sense of peace, no matter the circumstance. His ear twitches when his hero name drops between them, and he can’t help the small smile that graces his face, but it doesn’t last as he realizes he has found himself eavesdropping on her life within the walls of her apartment for a second time. He sighs under his breath before moving to the railing, leaning on it to get his bearings.
He must have made some sort of noise to gain Amma’s attention. Her mother turns and catches a glimpse of his red wings in the dark and gasps softly, sparking a brief startle before recognition replaces the initial fear. She watches for a moment, sees how he stands against Akira’s railing, looking down at the street, and when he starts to step up on the railing, Amma bats at Akira’s arm to get her attention quickly. When Akira quickly turns, matching her mother’s urgent energy, she catches his form in the dark, and her breath hitches. She hasn’t seen him since that early morning, and having him suddenly on her balcony under the moonlight takes her breath away. When she realizes he’s about to take off, however, she quickly wipes her wet hands on a towel and scurries over to the door.
“Hawks,” she whispers harshly. While it is the sound of the sliding door opening more that stops him in his tracks, it is her voice that makes him turn, and he almost gasps. She looks so much healthier than she did before; she is practically glowing. Even in her usual t-shirt and her hair messily tied up on the back of her head in the form of a ponytail, the warm feeling rising in his chest confirms just how much he missed seeing her, but seeing her under the moonlight? Radiance incarnate. She hesitates in the doorway, glancing back at her mother, before stepping out to join him on the balcony. Upon closer inspection, she can see the circles under his eyes are just as bad as they are on TV, pulling her apprehensive smile into a frown.
“Everything okay?” She whispers, her brows already drawn together with concern at his unexpected visit. The soft smile that graces his face immediately makes her blush. Of course, her first concern would be to check on him.
“Yeah, everything’s fine, little bird. Sorry, it’s short notice. I did text ya, but,” he gestures with a glance toward her mother who’s attempting to pretend to clean as she eavesdrops from the kitchen, “you’ve been busy. I forgot she was coming up this weekend.” After remembering she left her phone in her jacket pocket, Akira crosses her arms firmly over her chest.
“Right,” she says softly, glancing toward her mother, earning a little wave before Amma turns back to the kitchen sink. Akira’s blush deepens before she casts him a harsh look and an even harsher whisper. “Where the hell have you been?”
“Well, I-,” he pauses as he scans her attempt at a serious face. “I know I messed up by not showing up sooner, but I promise, I can explain, if you will hear me out.” The clinking of dishes in the sink pulls both of their attention back toward the door, and Akira instinctively slides the door shut. At least, her mother won’t be able to hear, but they are thoroughly being observed.
“Go on,” Akira says pensively, her arms returned to being crossed as she leans against the railing beside him. “But we don’t have much time.” Another glance at her mother through the glass, and Amma’s confused expression makes her laugh a little. “We’re basically an exhibit at a museum.” His laugh is soft in return before he wipes the lower half of his face, his scruff scratching his palm as he hums.
“Would it be too much to ask for some of your time? Without an audience?” He asks as his eyes land on her bare fingers resting on her bicep, reddened from cleaning, much like how they appeared in the cold of winter.
“Hm, what do you have in mind?” She meets his gaze, and his small grin makes her groan. “We’re going flying, aren’t we?”
“Well, it is a beautiful night for a flight, and I have just the place in mind,” he teases softly before looking up and making eye contact with Akira’s mother. Her eyes are large and dark, much like Akira’s. He sends a small wave and a smile her way, earning a wave in return before she gestures for them to come inside. Akira bites her lip apprehensively, glancing between him and the door. Does she want to take him up on his offer? Of course, she does. Does she want to deal with the heat from her mother when she gets back? Probably not. But it’s too late for that when Keigo leans in close to grab her attention.
“May I?” He gestures with his eyes toward the sliding door. Continuing to bite her lip, she gives her mom a shy glance.
“Are you sure? I mean, she can be kind of intense,” she whispers as her shoulders rise protectively. When she realizes how close he is leaning in, it’s as if she is seeing him for the first time, taking note of his day clothes and how his sleeves are rolled up to reveal the faint scars on his forearms.
“Positive,” he smiles warmly and waits for her to give him an affirming nod before pulling the door open and gesturing for her to go first. With a deep steadying breath, she steps in and sends her mother a warning smile, as if she can read her begging expression to behave herself.
Immediately upon stepping in, Keigo notices the photos of The Den crew aren’t on the shelves, and her dancing shoes she usually leaves by the door are gone. Right, her parents don’t know. Swallowing down her nerves, Akira glances between Keigo and her mother, who isn’t even trying to hide the smile on her face.
“You must be Hawks,” her mother greets as she dries her hands, taking the couple in as they stand together by the door. Seeing how flushed Akira already is, their familiar nature as they stand close to one another, how his eyes soften as he looks at her. Yeah, they’ll be okay.
“Yes, ma’am.” He practically beams as he steps around the living room’s coffee table to greet her properly with a deep, almost flamboyant bow. “At your service. It’s an honor. I hope Mr. Hatori is doing well.” Amma’s eyes widen ever so slightly as she glances at Akira, who meekly smiles in return, shrugging shyly. She can’t stop herself from fiddling with her bare fingers, her rings discarded in her ring dish so that they could clean up after dinner.
“Yes, he is doing much better, thank you,” Amma grins. “Do you often make night visits?” She mocks, and Akira’s face turns red.
“Amma, please,” she practically begs before glancing at Keigo, who has already started laughing.
“No, not often, but I won’t lie. We’ve spent a handful of nights on the balcony talking when I get the chance to slip away,” his eyes are bright as he returns Akira’s glance, flustering her more. Her previous frustration and anger with him for staying away are already diminishing under the soft looks he’s giving her, and she doesn’t know how to feel about it. “I apologize for interrupting your evening.” He tries to be as formal as he can. The laugh that bubbles up from her mother doesn’t help Akira’s embarrassment.
“Don’t worry, it’s alright. We were just cleaning up for the night.” Amma’s playful eyes meet Akira’s, and Akira takes a deep breath to try to calm herself.
“Actually, if it’s not too much to ask, I was wondering if I could borrow Akira for a little bit.” While Akira is looking at Keigo’s profile skeptically, she can feel her mother’s eyes boring into the side of her face in practical awe, knowing her fear of heights. They had talked in length not even an hour prior about how Akira had nearly thrown up on him the first time he flew with her. “It’s a nice night to fly. The sky is clear and warmer than it has been. If I may, of course. I promise to return her.” He caps his request with a grin, and of course, her mother can’t say no.
“Take your time! I’m just going to shower and settle in for the evening.” Amma’s teasing smirk and wave as she heads for Akira’s room, shutting the door behind her, earning a quiet huff from Akira. Now in the living room alone, though, the two take the moment to meet each other’s eyes.
“What do you say?” His words are softer, more gentle. Biting her lip, she moves closer cautiously.
“Depends. You sure you’re okay?” She hesitates to reach out for his hand, uncertainty painted plainly on her face. He closes the gap, letting his fingers brush the back of her hand lightly, the scuffs on his knuckles long since healed but new, faint scars bring color to the surface.
“Of course, I promise,” he eases with a grin. “Grab your jacket. You’ll need it. I’ll explain everything,“ he pauses and tilts his head toward her room, smirking slightly as his voice lowers to just barely a whisper, “she’s a funny one. I like her.” He chuckles, fully aware that her mother is eavesdropping through the bedroom door. With a small eye roll, Akira finally nods, stepping around him to grab her jacket from its hook by the door and pulling it on. Pulling her phone from her pocket, it’s dead from being ignored for hours, so she places it on the charger on the counter to leave it behind.
“Where exactly are we headed?” She zips up the front of her jacket before slipping her sneakers on. By the time she turns back to him, he’s already by the door beckoning her to follow.
“That’s part of the surprise.” He takes her hands in his and slowly guides her outside, stepping backward to keep his full attention on her. “Still trust me?” His thumbs caress the back of her hands tenderly, and she raises a brow, taking in his open expression in the dark.
“Of course, I do,” she says skeptically. “What’s going on? You can’t just disappear for nearly a month and come back like nothing happened.” While her tone is laced with a little humor, he knows it’s covering her true hurt feelings.
“It will be worth it.” He grins as his eyes scan her face, her uncertainty apparent in the tension around her eyes. “But first, let me just say, I’m sorry for staying away. That wasn’t right of me. You deserved to know why.” He struggles to maintain eye contact under her scrutiny, but he pushes through. “May I pick you up?” Hearing him being so open almost uproots her feelings, but until she hears his excuse for staying away, she is still apprehensive to say yes. Still, she can’t help it as some of her worries slip through her fingers as she traces his marks around his honeyed eyes and the look of absolute adoration returns hers.
“Better not drop me,” she resigns with a lilt of a tease and a sigh, earning a wide, toothy grin.
“That’s my brave little bird,” he matches her tease as he praises and scoops her up behind the knees and shoulders, and a small squeal escapes her lips as he lifts her right off her feet. Her arms fly up around his shoulders, and she glares only for a moment before he glances back toward her window and catches her mother’s prying eyes. “We won’t be gone all night!” He calls, so Amma can hear and knows she got caught. Akira’s blush returns, but when his wings extend, and he crouches slightly, whispering for her to hold on tight, she doesn’t have enough time to school herself into calm before he takes off, another squeal catching in her throat as the warm night’s wind whips around them in flight.

Y'know what'd make some good angst?
Tetsuo x reader while he's running the empire with his powers and reader can't do anything except stand back and watch as the person they love becomes a megalomaniac
you ateeee with this one anon🥹
cw: very unhealthy relationships, obsessive & posessive behavior, abuse, violence – tetsuo being tetsuo
• You don’t remember what you were doing before it happened, the explosion. Just that there was a palpable sense of loss, and struggle, lingering in the air. It was one of those things that happened instantaneously, before you could really understand it in the first place. And then, everything was in shambles. Your former life was gone.
• Tetsuo thinks it doesn’t matter when he notices you lamenting. A new life, a better one has begun for the both of you.
• He was happy to throw his old life away, and to now live as the behind the scenes emperor of the Great Tokyo Empire, as it had been dubbed. Still, there was this gnawing feeling. You. You were dead, just like Kaneda, and all his other friends. He knew that must have been the case, to hope for anything else was childish and yet there he was.
• But he needed you, he wanted you back. The others could rot, for all he cared, it would be well-deserved, but not you. He loved you, and you loved him, and not being with you was starting to wear him out. He knew he shouldn’t, any semblance of his former life should be thrown away, but you were nothing but good to him. The only one. So, he sends for you. You’re important, and Lord Akira commands it, he tells his followers, along with a telepathic image of you that he sends out.
• Imagine your surprise when strange people break into the little camp you’ve set up with some fellow survivors and just kidnap you to take you back. Initially, you’re happy when you’re returned to Tetsuo, hugging him tightly, and when he hugs you back he knows he made the right decision. He can’t live without you.
• The first few weeks are good. You want for nothing – he gets you a nice, plush bed and food whenever you’re hungry. He gets you new clothing, and whatever else you ask of him. He’s clingy, and wants your affection more than anything, along with your reassurance. If you ask about his psychic powers, and about his long absence, and about Kaneda, he’ll only tell you a fraction of the truth. He has no problem turning you against your former friends, and making himself out to be the victim in all of this. If it’ll earn him your sympathies.
• He always uses his powers to make you laugh. Will for sure take you flying if you’re being especially good.
• He keeps you away from everyone else. He doesn’t want you interacting with anyone but him. This can get lonely, so he allows you to babysit Akira, which doesn’t do much to ease your loneliness to be honest. The only time you get to interact, or see, other people is when you’re by his side.
• Slowly, Tetsuo’s… less then favorable characteristics will shine through. He’s impulsive, brash, rude, and at his absolute worst, violent and psychotic. He has no qualms using a little pain to make you obedient, should you act up and upset him, so be careful. He’s a little bit of a sadist, because it makes him feel powerful.
• If anyone dares to make any type of comment towards you, they’re dead. He’ll pop their head like a balloon with his powers and laugh his ass off when you start screaming and freaking out about the dead body and the blood on you both. You get desensetized pretty quick, unfortunately.
• Don’t ask about, or even hint that you miss your family, or your friends. He’ll assure you that they’re all dead, and if not, he’s more than happy to go out there and finish the job if you keep mentioning it. If you ever speak about Kaneda especially, expect to be punished.
• It’s a pretty miserable existence for you. To watch someone you love fall from grace in such a horrendous way. The worst part is that there’s absolutely nothing you can do except stand by as he tortures innocent people. He’s too powerful. As his health starts to decline, and the pills slowly stop working, he becomes even more unstable.
• Your love, I think, in the beginning was something pure, and good, but now it’s… twisted beyond recognition.

So, I LOVE your superhero AU and have so many questions:
Does Kyouraku Taicho know that Shiori was there that night JUST for the sole purpose of getting pregnant?
Does Akira have a shikai? Is it the same as Hisana’s?
What are some of their superhero adventures like? Would read a whole arc on how they do it, like how they triumped over this villian, or snippets of their hero work
And then I just keep thinking of different scenarios of how their identity reveal might play out, like,
Maybe does Akira get severely/critically injured somehow (protecting people or smething), while Shunsui happened to be there, and in desperation the twins say something along the lines of “Don’t touch my mum!” (to him or the opponents) and bring her to Unohana
Maybe her mask isn’t taken off in front of Shunsui but that phrase and how they said it just and how he felt when Akira was injured connected the dots for him that day so from then on Unohana and Shunsui both know Unohana immediately steps up healing training for Shiori (or they both learn from each other a bit as well), and Shunsui, after clearing the air with Shiori and then the twins, steps up training for the twins secretly. (While also Shunsui now being able to take just as much delight in trolling the other captains with the twins ‘incompetence’ LOL! I can so imagine that) I’m sure the superhero trio have plenty of knowledge on healing and fighting respectively but surely theres so much that they can learn from captains with hundreds (or was it thousand?) years of knowledge. And Shunsui is probably interested in making sure Shiori never gets that severely injured again so makes sure her fighting skills are even better too. And the twins go to learn more healing from Unohana for similar reasons.
Shiori also gleefully tells Shunsui he’s a grandfather too what with Rangiku and Gin
Slowly somehow or another the other captains find out their secret identities – like you were saying Yoruichi thought, Yoruichi and Sayuri get along like a house on fire, surprisingly Kisuke and Sousuke too, finding science buddies in each other. (They find someone of the same intellect as them!) (Shiori makes sure that they run through the general gist of what they’re doing with her though because she knows how unethical the Sousuke-that-thankfully-now-isn’t was, and Kisuke as well, or Sayuri reminds her about it because she has more Bleach knowledge or something. So she and/or sayuri... maybe even ukitake becomes their soundboard or something) Shinji falls even harder for Sayuri and I feel he would be all in to help Sousuke with his investigative journalism and terrorising the nobles (maybe even co-author some articles?)
Then when the superhero Trio fall out with the Gotei over something they still go to the human world but already armed with everything they could possibly have learnt from the Gotei anyway lol and Ichigo-apprentice still happens haha Shiori goes to medical school because now that medical advancement is all up to speed again she would love to go for a review plus learn and combine her Reiatsu healing and human medicine. Unohana maybe even joins her (secretly?) and they become peers (I dunno I just feel Unohana maybe never had any real friends and now Shiori? The Shiori I know from your fics would probably just blast past all those walls and theyre now not just teacher and student but more peers, learning so much from each other!) Ohhh thinking of the healing stuff and Unohana makes me want to go reread WTL now I haven’t had a reread in so long!
Ahhh sorry I just rambled away but I just love this AU so so much I apologize if anything I wrote offended you, not stealing your ideas or anything, I just keep thinking What if? And would 100% read a whole fic on this if you couldn't tell XD
Nah he doesn’t, Shiori never told him— although he knows she certainly didn’t mind getting pregnant (Shiori made sure to emphasize that point, although she phrased it as more of a “nice bonus” than her end goal.)
Akira/Shiori does have a shikai and yes, it’s the same as Hisana’s. Her children are only aware of its healing properties though, since she has a feeling they wouldn’t react well to Tenshi no Tsubasa’s other half.
Their superhero adventures mainly center around what the Gotei 13 doesn’t do, which is mainly stopping crimes committed in the Rukongai. One of my headcanons is that the Gotei 13 purposefully destabilizes any large organizations/government structures that pop up in the districts, because they want the districts to be reliant on the shinigami/don’t want any chance of uprisings. The superhero team (Sousuke especially) will help these organizations out and evade the shinigami.
As for how their identities come out— it would be kind of funny for a bunch of the captains to slowly, one by one, discover their identities. But to also have no idea anyone else knows (because they’ve all gotten attached to the superhero team by then and they don’t want to risk Shiori and the twins’ wellbeing by telling anyone else, especially another captain), so it’s just everyone frantically trying to keep the same secret from each other while not-so-subtly hinting to Shiori and the twins like “hey, you know you can tell me anything right, you can trust me, wink wink.”

[We Are The Same, He and I] - Rustica SSR Card Story Translation
Tumblr media
Ft. Oz and Akira
A One and Done Show - Chapter 1
[City of Circuses]
Akira: Sorry to keep you waiting, Oz.
Oz: Were you able to buy presents for those at the manor?
Akira: Yes, thanks to your help! But what should we do now…
Rustica: My, my, if it isn’t the Master Sage and Lord Oz. What marvelous timing.
Rustica: I’ve just caught wind that there’s a street performance about to begin. If that catches your fancy, would the two of you like to accompany me?
Akira: A street performance! That sounds interesting; I’d love to come along. Are you coming too, Oz?
Oz: …It matters not to me.
Rustica: Wonderful! Shall we then?
With Rustica in the lead, the three of us made our way to a street corner where several performers were preparing for a show.
Akira: This is a lot like busking…
Rustica: Busking? Is there a similar tradition in your world, Master Sage?
Akira: Yes, it reminds me of home…
Rustica: Ah, in that case, I’m glad I encountered you earlier. Let’s enjoy the show together.
Rustica: These kinds of performances happen to flourish in the City of Circuses, and this one in particular has quite a glowing reputation.
Akira: Really? I’m even more interested now.
As the two of us chattered away, we waited for the performance to begin.
[Time Elapse]
Akira: Isn’t this taking a while? The performers seem anxious too…
Rustica: Perhaps they simply lost track of time unwinding with a cup of tea before the show. Shall we wait a bit longer?
I nodded in agreement and turned my attention towards Oz.
Akira: We’ve seen a lot of performances since coming here, but were there any that you really liked?
Oz: The appeal of these things is beyond my comprehension.
Oz: No matter how strange or wondrous, I can magically recreate any of these tricks with ease. That is all.
Rustica: As one would expect from such a famed and legendary wizard such as yourself, Lord Oz.
Without missing a beat, Rustica cordially agreed. Suddenly—
Street Performer: Famed and legendary…? Could you be…!?
A nearby street performer zeroed in on Oz.
Rustica: Ah, so you have also heard of him. Indeed—this is he who is known as legend, he whom they call the great and powerful.
Street Performer: Oh! We’ve been awaiting your arrival for so long. Come, come, and please, bring your companions as well!
Akira: Huh!? Where are we going!?
Oz: …
Rustica: Oh my, it seems we’ve run into one of Lord Oz’s fans. This must be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him. Shall we consider what he has to say?
Then, without waiting for an answer, Rustica took off after the street performer.
Akira: R- Rustica! Wait for us!
Bewildered by the situation, we had no choice but to chase after him.
A One and Done Show - Chapter 2
Street Performer: Attention everyone! The legend himself has arrived!
Like earlier, the street performers were still engaged with their preparations, but as soon as Oz appeared, the mood shifted immediately.
Various Performers: So you’re the legendary entertainer!
What an imposing presence…!
And are these two your assistants?
Akira: The legendary what!? Assistants!?
Akira: (Oh this is bad. From the sound of it, they’re totally mistaking us for someone else…)
Oz: …
Street Performer: Well then, it’s long past show time! There’s a big crowd out there, so go get ‘em!
Rustica: Hm, it appears that they’ve mistaken Lord Oz for someone else.
Akira: Yes, but what should we do now…
Rustica: Well, if you are willing to oblige, Lord Oz… why don’t we play along with it and lend them a hand?
Oz: I refuse. I see no reason in doing such a thing.
Rustica: Ah well, I expected as much. However, I must admit, I would’ve liked to have seen the kind of flair you could add to a performance, the pizzazz.
Oz: You would…?
Rustica: Indeed. The mere thought of it makes my heart stir with delight: Legendary Wizard Performs Miraculous Show! Imagine!
Rustica: Why, it’d be a magnificent show, simply indescribable, an attraction that must be witnessed to be believed.
Rustica: Well, Lord Oz? Won’t you consider it?
Akira: This has nothing to do with the street performers’ request!
Rustica: Of course, that’s certainly something to consider as well—though I won’t press any further should you decide against it. So? How about it?
Oz: …
Rustica: …
Oz: …This shall not happen again.
Akira: (N- no way! He actually gave in!?)
Rustica: You have my gratitude, Lord Oz! In that case, let us make our way to the stage. As your trusty assistant, I shall provide all the help you may require.
Rustica: As for you, Master Sage, might I request you stay here? I’d like it if you could watch over our shining moment from the audience.
Akira: Of, of course.
[Transition]
Rustica: My esteemed guests, we are sorry to have kept you waiting. “Miracles of the Legendary Wizard” is about to begin.
Oz: …
Rustica: <<Amorest Viesse>>
As Rustica cast his spell, a tunnel of flaming hoops roared to life on either ends of the stage.
Rustica: Now, witness as we…
Oz: <<Vox Nox>>
As soon as Oz cast his spell, the pair transformed into two birds, one of pure white feathers and the other of darkest black. Starting on opposite ends of the stage, they shot through the rings of fire.
Those that the black bird passed through would transform into rings of crystal clear ice. Meanwhile, the ones passed by the white bird would blossom into a wreath of vibrant flowers.
Audience: Oooh! How pretty!!
Once the stage was cleared of fire, the remaining rings of ice and flower burst apart, dissipating into nothingness. Black and white feathers swirled through the air, glittering in the sunlight.
[Appluase]
Audience: Whoaaaaa!
[Transition]
Akira: Nice work up there! Both of you were incredible!
Rustica: Why thank you very much. I’m happy that you could enjoy it.
Akira: Did the two of you come up with that routine yourselves?
Oz: It was all Rustica’s doing.
A One and Done Show - Chapter 3
Rustica: The performance was designed as a reflection of our shared emotions.
Akira: Our shared emotions…?
Rustica: Why yes. Within each of us are emotions as fierce as fire, cool as ice, and soft and tender as a bouquet of flowers.
Rustica: We feel because we are alive. These are experiences shared by all who live, experiences I sought to replicate through the flutter of a bird’s wing, the transfiguration of rings.
Akira: I can see what you mean! It’s incredible how much thought you put into this with such little time.
Suddenly, the sound of rushed footsteps approached us.
???: My deepest apologies for being late!
Rustica: Oh? An audience member?
Street Performer: And you are…?
Quarta: Why, I am none other than Quarta the Renowned, street performer of legend.
Quarta: However, it seems to me that someone else has already taken my place on stage…
Street Performer: Huh? If you’re Quarta, then who was performing just now…
Rustica: Ah, my apologies for the late introduction. I am Rustica, one of the Sage’s Wizards.
Rustica: You seemed to be in a bit of trouble earlier, so I thought I’d lend a hand.
Rustica: Oh, and allow me to introduce our ever trust-worthy Sage… and the strongest wizard in the world himself, the legendary Lord Oz.
Street Performers: The legendary who!? You can’t mean that Oz!? Him!?
Street Performers: You mean to say, that stage presence isn’t because he’s a legendary entertainer but a legendary wizard!?
Oz: …
Rustica: Lord Oz, thank you so much for the unique experience we could all have today.
Completely unaware of the commotion he’d caused, Rustica simply gave us his warmest smile.
Akira: Once again, congratulations on the successful show! You guys were amazing. I had so much fun watching you.
Rustica: Why the pleasure is all mine. It was a truly unforgettable day.
Rustica: Lord Oz, I must thank you for accepting my selfish request. I hope it wasn’t too much of a bother.
Oz: …The time I spent was but a mere fraction of my life. It was neither particularly pleasant nor particularly bothersome.
Oz: However, I suppose it must have been moving for some.
Rustica: I, for one, was delighted to have witnessed a master at work.
Rustica: Though it would make me even happier if you could enjoy it as well.
Rustica: We ought to hold a few rehearsals before we perform for the Magic Manor next.
Oz: For the… Magic Manor?
Akira: That sounds like a great idea! Please let me come again!
Oz: Denied.
Rustica: Ahaha, what a shame. I suppose the two of us will simply have to etch Lord Oz’s special performance into our hearts.
Akira: Yes!
Rustica cheerfully beamed at me in response.
From up above, sunlight poured into the bustling city, bright and gentle as the feelings we carried in our hearts.
Would You Ever Join the Circus? - Card Episode
[Courtyard]
Akira: Good afternoon, Rustica. That’s a fun melody; what song are you playing?
Rustica: Ah, Master Sage. Remember when we went to the City of Circuses? I was recreating a tune from our trip there.
Akira: Ohh, that explains why it sounded so familiar. We heard a lot of different songs during the performances we attended.
Rustica: Yes, and Lord Oz seemed quite fond of this one, so I intend to play it for him later.
Akira: That sounds like a great idea! I hope Oz enjoys it.
Rustica: The other day, I’d also shown him a trick we saw in the City of Circuses that involved juggling three flaming clubs with magic.
Akira: You what!? H- how did he react…?
Rustica: Lord Oz seemed rather perplexed at first…
Rustica: But he watched until the very end. Fufu, I wanted to surprise him, so I kept my practicing a secret. I’m glad the extra effort was well worth it.
Akira: Ahaha, I’m glad too. You should show me the trick sometime.
Rustica: It’d be my pleasure.
Akira: By the way, why are you practicing so hard anyways?
Rustica: Some day, I hope that Lord Oz and I may perform on stage together once again. Thus, I’m preparing for when that time may come.
Rustica: Although, wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone could put on a show?
Akira: Are you talking about the wizards at the manor?
Rustica: Yes. We could call ourselves the Sage’s Circus and go on tour throughout the entire land. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Akira: (I mean… it does sound like fun…)
Home Screen Voice Line
“We Western Wizards respect one another despite our different values and philosophies. However, if there’s one thing we have in common… it’s that we all love and cherish our dear Master Sage.”

HELLO??? SAME BRAIN??? HI ITS ME WITH THE AKIRA PALACE AU ASK YOU JUST POSTED CAN I BE GOOPKIRA ANON
YOU HAVE REWIRED MY BRAIN. I CANNOT LOOK AT LOWER ANGLE SHOTS OF AKIRA AND GOING ":D BIG AKIRA!!"
THERE IS. SO MUCH TO THAT AU IT IS 5 MILLION MILES OF CONTEXT AND I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO MAKE IT INTO A FANFIC BUT IN MY BRAIN THIS AKIRA IS THE SIZESHIFTER OF ALL TIME.
Alternate boss encounter would be the shadow of Akira escaping the Palace and snatching everybody up in the dead of night. EYE IN WINDOW MOMENT. ALSO BIG FEARPLAY BECAUSE EVEN IF IT'S NIGHT THERE WILL STILL BE PEOPLE IN THE STREETS BEC IT'S THE CITY AND THEY'RE ALL SCREAMING AND RUNNING AND WAKING UP THE SQUAD BEFORE GETTING YOINKED. HE WOULD GO INSANSE FROM THE SHEER POWER TRIP.
Or. OR. We go the original Gojira route where shadow Akira is the only giant and everyone else is regular human sized, and suddenly things are just getting DESTROYED in the night with no warning or clue as to what the hell could have happened. Like suddenly the prison that Kamoshida was sent to after his sentencing is reduced to rubble, few, if any, survivors, Kamoshida is among the count, and the only previous Palace rulers who are spared are Futaba, Sae, and Maruki (Okumura is already dead lmao and the context of Maruki having a Palace is QUITE different in this au). Just IMAGINE the reports of thundering footsteps and BOOMING cackling and the PTs are SHOOK trying to figure out what is HAPPENING
YOU HAVE NO. IDEA. HOW MUCH I LOVE EYE IN THE WINDOW CONCEPTS. He just loves his little friends so much, he needs them to see how big and powerful he is now!!! He’d definitely tease and laugh at people in the city and be awfully careless with his footfalls but who cares, right? He’s the big one now.
Kaiju Akira is my SHIT you dont even know. I need him to rampage so badly and I think he deserves to honestly. I definitely think he should fuck up ALL of Shido’s houses. Phantom thieves trying to figure out whats going on only to find out it was Joker’s shadow all along, and how are they going to fix him when they’re so small and he’s just so BIG and OVERWHELMING… oh my god youre giving me so many brainworms thank you for this
The thing I love about ideas involving giant Joker going on power trips is that in canon he DOES get high on power. If you watch his awakening he clearly likes being stronger and scaring Kamoshida. He likes being able to protect people he loves because he’s been walked all over his entire life.
Also that phone-pov shot of Joker when him and Ryuji go to Kamoshida’s palace for the first time gives me so many giant Joker vibes 🤭

I am not normal about WolfQuest
So several months ago I came across a youtuber making wolf quest lets plays. I was one of those kids who was OBSESSED with what's now known as WolfQuest 2.7 (even if it was still free at the time when I first played it) so naturally I went 'What the fuck, wolf quest, on MY social media feed? Now what is this' and clicked. And watched. And met Anniversary Edition... and the relapse was real.
So this is the Silverhide pack! Made up of Akira and his mate Autumn, the genderfluid femboy trans wolf because I'm the master of my own destiny and if I want these wolves to be gay... oh mama. These wolves gonna be gay.
Tumblr media
Akira is a very large wolf, but surprisingly brittle. His long legs and lean form lets him run very fast which made him a ferocious hunter and warrior during his earlier years. Before meeting Autumn he was a lone dispersal, who quickly rose to a bit of infamy due to his ferocious nature. For you see, Snail was playing on easy in the beginning... and the thing about easy mode (or normal mode, if we're being pedantic) is that you can uh... kill a lot of things pretty easily. Including other wolves. Akira was strong enough where he could afford to be reckless — he could interrupt the hunt of stranger wolves and wander into claimed territory without having to worry about being hunted down and attacked: because if he was, well, he'd just turn them into mince meat.
Enter Autumn. He's one year older than Akira, and was immediately amused by Akira's reckless nature, pointing out the many scars riddling the larger wolf's body, in an almost mocking manner.
"You carry yourself like someone who hasn't had to fear death." was one of the first things Autumn said to him, and Akira didn't really know what to respond beyond snarling. It was true however, as dangerous as the wilderness could be to a lone wolf — Akira had never feared for his life, he always knew he could keep himself alive, no matter how dire the struggle got.
In some sense, that'd remain the case, but after going on a few hunts together and deciding to claim each other as mates... things would get far more complicated.
Because if you know WolfQuest, you know what happens next. That's right baby. Puppies.
Fatherhood!! The scariest journey of all!! Wolves don't get sex ed so imagine the surprised pikachu face on this angry, angsty dog's face when suddenly there were just three little THINGS which had spawned in. Three whiny squeaky little things that needed food and could get killed... very easily.
Uh oh. That's not good. That's not good at all, actually?
Akira and Autumn's first litter was a small one of just three puppies: April, May, and Mars, and all of them survived. Perhaps this dad thing isn't so hard, after all.
Well, nature heard his hubris and the next year motherfucker GOT LIKE 6 PUPS IN A LITTER. OOOPS. OH THAT'S SEVERAL MORE THAN THREE THIS MIGHT BE A PROBLEM.
Puppies wander, play around, and get lost. Bears and cougars and stranger wolves lurk among the trees to try and dive in for a quick snack, and Akira started to truly get a sense of for how fickle life could be. He didn't see himself to be a particularly doting father, but still when the little ones would run around his legs and nip at his tail, play-bowing and yapping at him for attention — it was hard to not get swept along with it.
He loves his puppies, he really does, even if he's a bit of an overprotective grouch who will carry them back to the den the moment they stray too far, where as Autumn prefers to just keep them company while they explore.
Tumblr media
During his youth, raising such a large litter was tough but managable, at the end of the day. He and Autumn make for an efficient hunting pair, and Akira has found himself taken aback at Autumn's complete lack of fear, and dying, whilst chasing bears off their elk carcasses and away from their den (Mate perma-death off baby). But he's gotten older, and Snail has changed the difficulty to Challenging.
The consequences were immediate.
Akira's third litter was a batch of seven puppies. Akira could feel how his bones had gotten stiffer and more sluggish as his daughters Winter and December almost got taken by a cougar. His son January got sick.
Akira has had sick puppies before, he'd huddle them close, protecting them while their small bodies would fight off the illness. When they got sick during a den migration he'd carry them so they wouldn't have to walk. They'd always gotten better. So he didn't think much of it, but January steadily grew weaker, and weaker.
Autumn knew before it happened, but Akira stayed in denial until morning came and January's lifeless body was curled up on the ground. Autumn carried the little one away from the den, this was the first puppy they lost.
Akira was not okay. But he refused to show it in front of his remaining children. Spring had gotten sick too, and when she asked if she'd end up like her brother all Akira could do was pull her in close, and tell her that it was going to be okay. And in her case, it was! Spring got better, but her sister Winter with the white fur did not.
Sick and huddled away in the den with Akira and her siblings, Winter too passed away in the night.
Akira had never had to face death for himself. He could always fight it off, or run away from it in dire cases, but when it came for his children he found himself so useless in protecting them it was paralyzing. It hurt, it hurt so much he could barely plug himself out of being on autopilot, simply going through the motions to get through the day. But the hardest loss of all was during one den migration up north, where a stranger wolf struck at the last god damn second, and took Akira's son Fall with him.
Like besties I was RIGHT THERE at the den when the fucking wolf showed up and there was no grass for the puppies to hide in and I couldn't SEE THE PIECE OF SHIT UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. 0/10. HORRENDOUS.
And Akira was furious. He wanted to tear the assailant apart, rip him to shreds like he'd done for much less in his youth, but he was trapped in place as he knew he couldn't. The pups needed their den first and foremost, they needed somewhere to hide away and be safe, Akira couldn't run off chasing vengeance at the expense of risking their survival as well.
It was painful, endlessly frustrating and Akira was shattered that he let his guard down enough for his son to be killed. Autumn — way more at peace with the concept of death, fully aware that puppies surviving wasn't and would never be guaranteed — also struggled immensely with Fall's death. They'd been close, Autumn was delighted that they technically had the same name but not really, and now the boy was gone.
Spring, December, February and the small but energetic Summer made it to 15 pounds, when it's time to migrate out of the den to a rendezvous spot, whereas Winter, January and Fall have been lost. They still are not in the clear, Akira is now painfully aware of how easily their little lights can get snuffed out, and he's on higher alert than ever. But he'll protect them, with all that he has.
For even if he doesn't fear death for himself, he's terrified of it coming for his little ones.
And that's his story so far! I haven't finished playing through the third litter yet but sheez it was not nice to the Silverhides. The rng with the sickness specifically can be brutal. Hopefully Akira won't have to be gut-punched with any more puppy-deaths, until it's time for the fourth litter of course :)
Here are some bonus doodles of Akira and Autumn as gijinkas because I have brain worms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And maybe one day I will draw more of them...
And this is just the beginning you scrub, you buffoon, just wait until I've exhuasted Akira's lifespan and feel confident moving on to one of his SPAWN, OR SEVERAL OF THEM. OOOoOoOoOOOO

I’m torn on how I feel about Goro going to Kosei, but if he went to Kosei, that means he could have joined the group on the Hawaii trip, so like, imagine that.

Having fun with family
Tumblr media
🎄Anonymous: Could you do a small scenario or hc with sanji and his wife baking christmas cookies with his sons and daughter?
I think I got carried away a little bit lol, as I wrote 731 words, I just love kids and sanji almost 40 years old with long hair.
Thank you anonymous, i feel like this was my christmas present to myself.
Also, I named the kids so I wouldn't get lost, but I didn't mention their appearance, so you can imagine it however you want.
Zoe - 13 years
Akira - 12 years
Eric - 5 years
Happy almost christmas everyone🎉😘
Tumblr media
You've been busy trying to get your work done before Christmas to get to spend a lot of time with your family, but in a flash the days have passed and it's Eve.
When you were walking a bit to try to get the numbness out of your legs from sitting so long working, there came a loud noise apparently of a pan falling in the kitchen, the worried mother and wife you are, you went to see what's going on.
Opening the door quickly, you were greeted with your youngest son's loud laughter, getting a better look at the whole scene, your husband and daughter full of flour, and your eldest son in the corner trying to hide his laughter.
"What's going on?"
You stand at the door stunned by the situation, and the other two flour-smeared ones not unlike you, probably still trying to figure out what happened.
"Mommy!"
The small figure of Eric came towards you, already jumping into your arms, and you effortlessly lifting him, and not far behind came Akira, hugging your waist tightly.
"Come help! let's make cookies for the Straw Hat Uncles and Santa Claus."
Says Akira answering your question.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! It's going to be cool!!!"
Eric spoke, these two always very excited about the end of the year party.
But then a shrill voice interrupts this moment.
"You idiots! How can you be calm?? Can't you see that we wasted flour???"
Zoe, your daughter, with a very angry face points to the boys who are with you and her dirty face.
"Princess, there's no need to stress."
Spoke the blond man who was beside her, placing a hand on the girl's head as a form of comfort.
"But dad-"
"It's okay, it was an accident and most of the flour falls on the counter, we can still use it."
"Mom?"
She says turning to you like she wants someone to be on her side or to help show her she's right.
"Your dad is right, but it's not right not to apologize after laughing about it."
You say dropping Eric to the ground and giving a look at the two who are beside you.
"Sorry."
Says the boys, Akira in a really sincere voice of apology, but Eric not so much.
"Well, if you want to make good excuses, make some yummy cookies, okay?"
"YES!!"
They yell determinedly and run off to bake those cookies.
Now that Sanji's flour "shock" has passed, he has realized that he hasn't given you a good hello, you are a queen and you have to be treated as such.
"My dear!!! It's so good to see your beautiful face around here!~"
He says coming towards you, his long hair pulled back tightly in a bun and he proudly wearing an apron that says "the best dad and chef in the world" that his kids gave away for Father's Day.
Coming to you, he catches you holding you back as if it were a tango dance and giving you several kisses, making you laugh and making you fall in love with him even more.
"Yuck!"
The three children say at the same time away from you with a disgusted face.
Without making more sense for you to go back to work and miss this amazing family moment, you join in to help.
After having a little difficulty joining the flour, the preparation of the biscuit dough was quick and easy, and the icing was even easier because Sanji did it, and now comes the coolest part, making the drawings on top.
Stars, Christmas baubles, trees, angels, bells, cookie man were the various shapes, in addition to cookies in the shape of the favorite things for gift straw hats, such as an orange shape for Nami and a Meat shape for Luffy.
This part you let your kids have fun and let their imaginations go, and then you and your husband made cookies a little better, especially Sanji.
"This Christmas is going to be wonderful."
You say absently as you finish a tree biscuit.
"Of course, especially with you and the kids by my side."
Said the cook, stopping to cover the angel cookie, and looking at you with a deep look of love, pride and gratitude.
They were the best gift you ever received.

I think it was a mistake to write overhaul still wanting to use eri when he’s remorseful for his boss
Eh, I don’t really agree, anon. Like, nothing about Overhaul’s post-Tartarus state of tunnel-visioned, paralytic, horror-struck guilt suggested that he felt bad about why he did what he did, or for using the methods he used. He was just stuck because he’d always expected to be able to wake Pops up eventually, when he could hand the man a world the yakuza could rule from the shadows again, and now he had no way of doing that because his planned method of doing so was no unavailable to him. He very possibly doomed the only person he really cared about to an irreversible coma, so of course he was devastated, but nothing we saw suggested that he was really doing any deep moral reevaluation of his actions.
Indeed, for all that he was so frantic to get to Pops, we don’t really know what he was planning on doing once he did. Weep at the man’s bedside, presumably, but that raw desperation does make me wonder if he had some other ideas. He couldn’t fix Pops himself, but I’ve long figured that whatever he did to the man was probably neurological in nature, meaning it might be reversible by a skilled enough neurosurgeon(1). He just had to, you know, secure one of those. Which wasn’t happening in Tartarus, obviously.
Also not happening in Tartarus: Overhaul getting any good faith psychiatric aid, which I would expect to be the bare minimum of, “Things that need to happen before I start looking for Overhaul to show any signs of regret for the pain he caused Eri.”
But that aside, I don’t actually think Overhaul was written as wanting to use Eri, not really. His reaction when Deku brought her up was first confusion, then realization—it seemed obvious to me that the thought of using Eri hadn’t once crossed his mind, at least not in such a way that it endured through his frequent fugues.
Eri seems like the obvious solution to us readers, but remember that as far as Overhaul was aware, Eri was completely incapable of using her power in a controlled way. Trying to get her to fix Pops would be fraught with risk, and would involve tracking her down when he would already have to track down Pops, both of those as a fugitive with no access to official documentation. That’s not even getting into the fact that he would have had no way to threaten Eri himself; everything Overhaul was doing relied on Lady Nagant’s help, and he had no guarantee that her help would continue past their initial bargain once his usefulness to her had run out.
Oh, if he was back in the position he’d been in previously, doubtless he could retool the entire line of his experiments with Rewind in search of ways to revert a body to an earlier state—given that he’d figured out how to unwind a single aspect of genetic code without turning subjects into a writhing flesh monstrosity out of Akira, I assume he could figure out a way to do the same with Pops’ brain. But getting back to his old position was obviously off the table, and would have been even before the PLF brought about a complete breakdown in the normal functioning of the country. Just imagine trying to source all the medical supplies he’d need now, and that’s on top of getting people to act as his hands and/or learning to function with prosthetics he would also have to source.
Given Overhaul’s general state of total meltdown, I can imagine he’d been over these things before and then lost his grip on them, then done so again later, lost track of his thoughts again, and so on and so forth. Getting Nagant to threaten a neurosurgeon is much more straightforward!
All that is assuming, of course, that he was even thinking about solutions at all, and not just having his brain play, “Pops, Pops, I’m sorry, Pops, aurgh, I’ve gOT tO GeT tO POPS!!” during every waking moment, which is honestly probably more in-line with the canon.
Anyway, I don’t think he had much room in his head for serious contemplations of wrongdoing, especially since those would involve a serious reevaluation of his entire moral and psychological foundation—see again, all the psychiatric help he wasn’t getting in Tartarus.
As the League of Villains makes so plain, why would we expect humane behavior from someone society is so bent on being deeply inhumane to? And sure, Overhaul’s got less cop to that than people like e.g. Toga or Shigaraki—he at least had a father figure that legitimately cared about him and the proper development of his ethical code,(2) as well as at least one confidante, neither of which either Shigaraki and Toga could claim. But the same principle applies: if Overhaul is so desperate to fix this most awful of outcomes, but has no reason to believe that society will ever help him do so—because Hero Society has written him off as a dangerous idealogue, and Hero Society doesn’t offer help to dangerous idealogues; it throws them away to die in Tartarus—what exactly is his motivation for trying to be less of a dangerous idealogue?
Deku, of course, tries to give him such a motivation, and maybe that’s the series making a genuine attempt to model the whole “Being the first one to reach out” thing that Nedzu tells us is going to be critical to overcoming the divisions in Hero Society. I have some not-indifferent opinions about how that attempt was handled, but even if you’re more generously inclined to it than I, the fact remains that this motivation for change wasn’t offered until after Eri was brought up, so I wouldn’t expect to see any attempts from Overhaul to reconfigure his busted moral compass until after, either.
People say things like, “He’s not sorry he did it; he’s sorry he got caught”? I feel like it’s a similar thing with Overhaul. He’s not sorry for what he did; he’s sorry it didn’t work. That’s not to say he couldn’t ever come around to being sorry for what he did, but it is going to take a lot of soul-searching, and frankly more outside effort than the establishment has been shown as willing to make for him. But I hope we get some sign that that will change! (Because it desperately, desperately needs to.)
Thanks for the ask, anon!
-------
1: Paging Dr. Tenma.
2: Relative to said father figure’s honorable yakuza norms, anyway.

Hi! Are you still writing for persona 5? I hope so because I'd like to request Akechi with an S/O who is like Haru, very sweet and kind out of the metaverse and sadistic inside the metaverse.
A/N: I’m sorry this came out a bit late! I was a little swamped in school work but I’m back! And I sure do still write for Persona 5! This a was very fun request to do so I hope you enjoy! (C/N- Code name)
Word Count: 1050
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Different Side (Goro Akechi x Reader)
“No, absolutely not.”
“Why not? They’ve proven themselves to be a great deal of help. I vote yes.” Akira says.
“I agree with him. Let them join!”
Letting out a sigh, Akechi looks to you, “It seems that everyone wants you to join us. But it is your choice of course.”
The rest of the Thieves look at you expectantly. You had always wanted to help people in some way, so shouldn’t you take this chance to do so?
“I want to join, please. If I can help people, then count me in.” You say with a small smile.
“Welcome to the Phantom Thieves then.” Akira says with a grin. “Happy to have you Y/N.”
LeBlanc is filled with the cheers of your new teammates, the group happily discussing how you would fit in perfectly with them.
“Are you sure you want to join the Phantom Thieves Y/N?” Akechi asks, taking a seat next to you.
“I am. And I appreciate your concern, but honestly you don’t have to worry about me. I can take care of myself, you know."
He sighs. “I know. But if anything happens to you-”
“I know. Please, just trust me with this Goro. I’ll be careful, I promise.”
Akechi plants a kiss on your forehead, his worried expression turning into one of affection. “As long as you’re careful.”
---------------------------
“Are you nervous? It is the first time that you’re entering the Metaverse since joining the team.”
“Believe it or not, I’m actually excited. Akira said we were changing someone’s heart today right?”
“He did, but please be careful. Don’t do anything too reckless okay?”
“When have I ever been reckless Goro?”
When have I ever been reckless.
Those words seemed to fly right out the window as Akechi and the rest of the team watch you and Haru jump out of the Mona Car. The two of you run on ahead, despite Makoto’s protests.
“Is... Y/N always like that? You know, bloodthirsty, smiling while defeating Shadows, a lot like Noir in the Metaverse?” Ryuji asks.
Akechi only sighs. “Trust me, this is also fairly new to me as well.”
“We should go after them.” Akira says, getting back into the Mona Car.
Earlier while you were looking for the target, the team had run into a few Shadows here and there. It was business as usual. Akira had placed you, Akechi and Haru in the team. Nothing wrong there right?
Yes, but no. No one had expected you to completely one-shot a Shadow with your weapon. It happened so quickly. Holding your weapon tightly, you had run up to the Shadow, a malicious grin on your face as you swung your weapon. If the Shadow were a baseball, its head would have flown right off from how hard you hit it.
When you turned around with a smile, the team was speechless. Akechi, being the most surprised. His kind and sweet S/O, the one who visited him on the weekends when he was at work, brought him lunch and cheered him up after a rough day, was a very different person in the Metaverse.
Should it have surprised him that much? He didn’t discuss many things about himself with you, yet this change in personality felt drastic, although he really didn’t mind it.
Soon you and Haru hear the familiar screeching of tires as you finish off a Shadow.
“Hm, not enough... should we find more?” You mumble as you wipe your weapon off. You glance behind you seeing the team stand behind you and Haru as you greet them with a smile. “Oh, you all caught up. Sorry about that, I guess I got ahead of myself.”
Makoto sighs, “At least you had Haru with you. You’re not injured right?”
You shake your head, “No injuries here.”
“That’s good, now Mona, is the target in the area?”
Mona shakes his head, “Not at all. It was a while ago, but it seems to have disappeared.”
“Oh, the target? C/N and I took care of it!” Haru explains with a smile.
“You what?”
Haru begins explaining how you and her ended up finding the target and how you both worked together to change their heart. The team could listen speechlessly as Haru explains and you nod along with her story.
“You don’t think you could have left out the part where you said “Ah, what a thrilling battle. Shall we find more enemies to crush under our heels?”” Ryuji asks.
“That is the most crucial part of the story. If I left that out, it wouldn’t be a story now would it Ryuji?”
Ryuji only nods his head frantically, afraid of Haru’s smile.
Akira sighs, “Well, good job then. That’s all the targets for today, so I guess we can all go home.”
------------------------------
You and Akechi wave goodbye to the others as you board the train. Stretching, you let out a sigh. “Well today was fun.”
“It may have been fun for you.” Akechi says. “But I was worried about you. What ever happened to not being reckless?”
“I’m sorry. I just... it’s hard keeping it all in sometimes, you know? My anger has be directed somewhere. Mementos seems like the best place for that.”
“How were you keeping your anger in before?”
You laugh a bit, “It’s a bit silly, but I kept thinking of how you look when you’re angry. It was pretty scary imagining it.”
“Interesting method, but there are other ways of relieving anger. Why didn’t you come to me Y/N?”
“You already have so much on your plate with work and school. I didn’t want to add my problems on top of all of that.”
Akechi takes your hands into his, “You can come to me anytime Y/N. Work and school are important, but you are always my top priority.”
“You shouldn’t say things like that Goro. But, thank you. Also, you were holding back today weren’t you?”
“What do you mean?”
“What I mean is that you could also take some anger out when we’re in Mementos. I think it would be quite the sight. The ever-so calm and collected detective losing his cool. Also pretty hot, if you ask me.”
Akechi chuckles, “Maybe one day, wouldn’t want to scare the team with three sadists would we?”
Chapter Thirteen
“Kuroo-San I’m very flattered but in reality I’m seeing someone.” You chuckled awkwardly as you both walked to the lounge after today’s game. “Really?! Since when! About a month ago during the black Jackals game you just said you were a single mom!” He exclaimed. “Well..in reality..I’m trying to make amends with the father of my children. We were both dumb and immature but now since we’re older, we can have a decent conversation. And I still have feelings for him in a way and he’s already confessed..so...” you scratched the back on your head. “Have you accepted his confession..?” He asked. “Well..I mean I kind of changed the subject..” you replied awkwardly. “Poor guy..” he put his hand on his chest as if he felt the pain. “Well it’s not right to pressure someone into going on a date with them so I’m sorry. I was out of line. And I hope everything goes well between you and Rintarou.” He said with a soft smile. He patted your head and walked away down the other hall, you just stood there dumbfounded. How does he know Rin is the dad..?
You haven’t checked social media or sports news so you’re not sure if people already know. You made you way into the lounge and opened your small locker. You took out your purse and walked to your car, you tried walking as fast as possible to avoid talking to people and when you were in the comfort of your car you took out your phone.
Your eyes widened at the amount of phone calls and messages Rin sent. You didn’t even have a chance to read the messages since you decided to call back Rin and wonder what is going on. “It’s about time you answer.” He immediately gritted, he obviously sounded pissed. “Excuse me?” You immediately said with such confusion.
Does he seriously think he can get away with talking to you like that?
“I said it’s about time you fucking answered. Why weren’t you answering my calls or messages?” He asked. “I was obviously working.” You said in a duh tone. “Is something wrong?” You asked. “YES something is wrong! My son almost died and I didn’t know what to do!”
Your heart dropped. He almost...died..? “W-wait—“ you shook your head. “What do you mean he almost died?” You asked. “He had an allergy attack and I had to use an epipen. I didn’t know what to do at the hospital. I rarely had any information. You never told me if the kids had insurance or anything.” “Is Rini okay?” You immediately asked. “Yes he’s fine. But you didn—“
“I’m on my way. For the next eight hours, think before you speak, okay? Don’t say anything you’ll regret.” You warned. “Whatever.” He muttered and hung up. Immediately your heart clenched and you threw your phone at the passenger seat. You rubbed your face and leaned forward and gripped the steering wheel.
“What the fuck.” You sighed. Throughout the drive back to Hyogo your hands began shaking thinking about your kids and Rin. The kids went through something traumatic, and you weren’t there to help them or to protect them. What kind of mother are you? You wanted to slap yourself so hard, jump off a cliff. Receive some sort of punishment for being such a stupid mother and trusting Rin with your children.
After a few hours, your makeup needed a touch up, your hair was a mess for running your hands through your hair hoping your son is okay. Your eyes felt droopy. You’ve only slept a good six hours between drives and it’s way past midnight. The sun began to rise and you finally passed the billboard welcoming you to the hyogo prefecture. You went to the hospital Rin said they were at and you quickly parked and made your way inside.
The poor lady in the office seemed startled at your appearance, your clothes were wrinkled, and your shirt was untucked and unbuttoned from the top, you had bags under your eyes, you were a whole mess. When she gave the room number you slipped off your heels and began jogging to your location. The door was opened so you peeked in and saw your daughter playing with her fox plush on the uncomfortable couch chair.
It was like she sensed you so she looked up and you made eye contact with your little girl. Her eyes immediately watered and she hopped off the chair crying. “Mommy!” She sobbed and you immediately bent down to pick her up. You held her close and her grip tightened around your shoulders. “Rini doesn’t feel good..” she mumbled in your ear. “I know baby, I know.” You answered and dropped your heels by the entrance.
You made you way inside and saw Rin hunched over on the bed sleeping. He was holding Rini’s hand who was also asleep. He looked alright and you sighed in relief. “Have you slept, Akira?” You asked and she nodded. “I slept with Rini, but grandma wanted me to go back home with her. But Rini needed me. He’s my twin.” She wiped her eyes and slightly pulled away. You neared the other side of the bed and pulled the lounge chair closer so you can sit. Akira was on your left thigh with her head still on your shoulder. You looked at Rini sleeping and you brushed some hair out of his face. He slowly opened his eyes and he smiled lazily, “I missed you momma..” he mumbled. “I missed you too. I came as fast as I could.” You assured. “I was so scared.” He admitted. “I know..and I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help you.” Your eyes began to water. “Don’t cry mommy.... then I’ll cry..” Rini held your hand with his free hand.
Your wiped under your eyes with the sleeve of your blazer to stop the tears from falling and you smiled again. “Okay I won’t cry.” You said and released a breath. “Can you sing me a song?” Akira asked in your neck, “Yeah I want a song too, please.” Rini pouted and you nodded. They had a favorite song from a certain show that they enjoyed the most. You began to sing softly and Rini squeezed your hand and Akira began to fall asleep again.
I always thought I might be bad
Now I'm sure that it's true
'Cause I think you're so good
And I'm nothing like you
Look at you go
I just adore you
I wish that I knew
What makes you think I'm so special
You saw as Rini’s eyes began to close so he could fall back to sleep, you heard snoring right in your ear and realized Akira knocked out as well. “You have a beautiful voice.” Rin said softly as he rested his head on the side of his arm. “Sorry that I woke you up.” You quickly apologized. “No it’s fine..” he yawned and slowly sat up. He winced slightly, “Damn I need to see a chiropractor.” He muttered and you released a small chuckle. “Me too.” You said.
“So is Rini okay? What happened?” You asked and he sighed and looked into your eyes. “My mom got some burgers from a restaurant where peanut oil is used. She didn’t know Rini was allergic and I didn’t check the bag.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” You raised your voice and his eyes widened. “Your mom almost killed our son and you blame me for leaving you without any information?” You asked and he looked down guilty. “She didn’t kn—“
“Of course she doesn’t know because all day she was acting like a conceited bitch instead of being a grandmother to her grandkids. She even called me a whore—“
“No she didn’t.” He immediately interrupted. “She didn’t because you stopped her. But that’s what she thinks right? I model for Hana’s company to support her and to build up my self esteem and now I’m a whore? And you had the audacity to talk to me so rudely when I didn’t do anything. If you’re going to be treating me like that then there’s the fucking door. You understand? Never again will I be disrespected by a man.” You said and he had no words.
“You make it seem like I did it on purpose. I was sleep deprived and scared. I felt like I was going to throw up.” Rin squinted his narrow eyes.
“Do you have any idea what I felt when I got a call eight hours away that my son almost died? Imagine how I feel when he calls out to me and I’m not there. I feel like I failed them as a mom, my chest hurts and I’ve always been there. Always. And now I leave them in your hands and something happens and I can’t get there soon? I almost had a panic attack on the drive!” You exclaimed and he stayed silent. He didn’t want to continue fighting. He’s sure the kids are awake and listening to everything.
“I’m sorry.” He said and looked at his hands. He felt defeated and disappointed. You shouldn’t be so hard on him, it’s been less than a month since he took on this role. “Hey look at me.” You called softly, he looked up and you made eye contact once more. “I’m sorry for going off on you like this, I’m just as upset and afraid as you are and I’m sure you haven’t slept much.”
“I could say the same for you, you look like shit.” He cracked a tiny smile and you rolled your eyes with a giggle. “So did your mom eventually decide to be a grandma or she still hates me so she’s not getting close?” You asked. “She went back home to bring some clothes and then to get us some breakfast. I sent her a screenshot of my notes.” He said and you nodded. You obviously still felt uneasy with her, but they deserve a grandma and if she’s being civil you have no reason to take them away from her.
There was a knock at the door and you and Rin immediately turned your heads. “Oh you must be mom..” the doctor said. “Yeah I’m mom.” You said. She explained that Rini stayed longer than usual because he is a child. After a severe allergic reaction there can be aftershocks hours after the person receives treatment and that can lead to a seizure. She praised Rin for quick thinking and following proper steps to insure his child’s safety.
When the doctor left, Rin’s mom waltzes in and she freezes when she sees you. You take a deep breath and release and decide that it’s best to keep quiet. You wouldn’t want a clique animosity between you and your maybe future mother in law.
“I brought Rini some spare clothes.” She said as she opened Rin’s old gym bag. “He doesn’t own that jacket.” You pointed out. Her face flushed slightly, “I know..but this was Rintarou’s favorite jacket when he was his age..I thought it would be nice to wear. I have a lot of Rin’s old baby and child clothes.” She admitted softly, almost scared that you would snap any minute. And you would, so she was wise to walk on eggshells.
“Okay that’s fine.” You gave in. You helped Rini get dressed while Rin was talking to the doctor and getting ready to check out. You walked barefoot down the hall with your pink heels in your right hand, while Akira held your left hand. Rini was holding hands with Suna and Rin’s mom was holding their stuffed animals. She trailed behind you four and saw how you and Rin swung akira with you arms, her little giggles filled the hall releasing serotonin to the patients and nurses nearby.
“Momma aren’t you gonna put your shoes on?” Rini asked, “My feet hurt and I don’t feel like falling.” “But it’s hot outside, you can burn your feet.” Rin spoke up, “I think I’ll be fine.” You assured. He rolled his eyes and let go of the kids. You were about to step on the asphalt of the parking lot after checking both sides and all of a sudden you’re being knocked back from your legs and carried bridal style. “RINTAROU PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT.”
“Nah.”
The kids giggled at their parents funny behavior, you kicked the air and squirmed but his grip tightened. “Do you really wanna get down?” He asked and you said yes. He pretended to drop you and you gripped onto his shirt for dear life and he started laughing. “I swear to God I am going to kick you where the sun doesn’t shine.” You muttered. He finally put you down but you were so distracted you were already at your car.
Karin took the kids to her car since the car seats are in there, so now it’s just you and Rin. “You give me a headache.” You told him. “But you love this headache—“ both your eyes widened and he stopped, “—sorry.” He immediately apologized.
You turned away to yawn and you muttered an it’s okay. He opened the car door for you just like old times, much to your dismay and he closed it when you entered. You put on your seatbelt and he fixed the seat and complained at how tiny you were. He was expecting you to fight back and bicker but you were already asleep.
He leaned forward and fixed your head so you wouldn’t hurt your neck. He started the car and began driving back home. He saw the two empty cups of coffee and some energy bar wrappers on the floor. The phone wasn’t playing any music but the volume was up to 20. You must have been so tired driving all last night and the night before for nine straight hours. No wonder you blasted music to keep you up and drank coffee.
He soon made it home and tried waking you up, but you didn’t budge. Not even shaking you work. You were a muttering unconscious mess when he helped you out and carried you bridal style once again. His mom let him in and he told Akira to unroll the futon in the living room since he couldn’t take you upstairs. He successfully placed you down and helped take of your blazer, he thanked god you were wearing an undershirt thanks to akira checking (no somnophilia shit here atm) and he helped unbutton your dress shirt so you wouldn’t feel hot. He put a light blanket over you. “Can’t believe I have to get you ready for bed like a child.” He muttered with a shake of his head. “Silence bottom, it’s mimi’s time.” You said in your sleep.
The kids ate their breakfast in the car as well as Karin. They were already awake and playing with Chewy outside again. “Mom.” He called, “Yes?” She asked from the kitchen. “Can I borrow your makeup wipes?” He asked. She smiled softly, looking out the window to check on the kids. “Yeah go ahead, they’re in the bathroom.”
Rin came back with the wipes and began wiping the makeup off your face. He didn’t want to press too hard to hurt you. But damn, this makeup was hard to take off. Finally you slept comfortably without makeup, without any interruptions. “Sweet dreams, love.” He smiled and moved the hair away from your face.
He stood up and grabbed the bag with all the kids school stuff and sat in the picnic table outside. “Alright you rascals time for school!” He yelled and the kids yelled an okay and went to join their dad.
“Hey dad..” Rini said. “What’s up?” Rin looked at his son, “I love you a lot. To infinity and beyond. Mama says that’s called unconditional love.” He said and Rin smiled with a nod. “Exactly, and I love you two unconditionally as well.” He said and Akira peered up from her work sheet. “Do you love mom unconditionally?” She asked Rintarou.
“Yeah. Yeah I do.”
Fun facts:
Someone asked me to do fun facts and if I had any for future chapters so here I go
The song YN sang is love like you from Steven universe but this is my fav version.
‘Mimi’s’ means sleeping time, Akira didn’t know how to say sleeping when she was a toddler so she would say Mimi’s cuz uncle Oikawa would say “es tiempo de dormir.” Which means ‘it’s time to sleep’. So MIMIS is taken for the ‘mir’ in dormir. (Sorry that was a long explanation) (if you live in a Mexican household then u might usually hear this)
YN drives a Black Honda CR-V (nice mom van) ☺️ while Rin has a White Nissan GT-R but he’s thinking of trading it in for a four door sports car to take the kids and yn along
Rin still has his old black mustang in a garage rental back in Tokyo where he would drive with YN everywhere. He wants to fix it up and gift it to one of his kids when they’re older 🥺
Idk why I’m talking about cars
Rin was a blushing mess when he was getting yn ready for bed and his heart stopped when she snuggled into him
After he admitted he loved YN unconditionally, Akira called him a simp
