Alien Questionnaire - A Biological Perspective
A while ago, somebody linked me a very comprehensive worldbuilding questionnaire. For most aspects of a fictional society, it was great, but I noticed it assumed that anyone using it was making up a fictional human society, or at least a society of beings very similar to humans. As such, there was almost nothing in the biology department, which to me is one of the best parts! Thus, this questionnaire was born.
These questions are designed to help people worldbuild from a biological foundation. As such, the questionnaire only touches lightly on other aspects of a fictional society, and is more of a jumping off point. I wrote it with the aim of using it to develop aliens, but it should be suitable for any project with non-humanoid species, such as sapient terrestrial animals.
Have fun! I'd love to see your answers :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Anatomy How many limbs do they have? Do they have limbs at all?
What are their primary manipulators? Where are they located? How does this affect their tool use, building ability, etc?
What kind of body covering do they have, e.g. hair, scales, feathers? How do they clean it? Do they shed this covering constantly, or all at once at certain times?
Can they maintain a constant body temperature? If not, how do they deal with changing environmental temperatures?
What kind of habitat do they live in? Both specific habitat, and broader such as on land vs in water.
What adaptations do they have for living in this habitat?
What kind of creature did they evolve from?
What are the similarities and differences to their closest living relatives?
What resource(s) is the most necessary and urgent for them? E.g. for many animals, but not all, it’s water.
What are some common mutations? E.g. eye colours, ability to digest lactose in humans.
What injuries or illnesses are considered disabling?
How is their healing ability? Can they regenerate? If they can, is that limited to certain body parts or a certain number of times?
Senses What senses do they have? E.g. sight, smell, electroreception, etc.
How good are those senses?
Which of their sense/s do they use the most in everyday life?
How might this choice of sense impact the way they interact with the world?
Can they detect things that Earth creatures cannot? If yes, how and why?
Movement  How do they move? Do they walk, crawl, fly, etc?
If they have multiple modes of movement, which is preferred, and why?
Which part/s of their body do they use to move?
What is their speed and endurance like?
How agile are they?
Do they rely mainly on their own bodies for travel, or do they use pack animals and machines?
How often do they move around? Are they mainly sedentary, do they move a lot within a set area, do they migrate, etc?
Do they have different levels of mobility depending on age, sex, or other biological group? E.g. young barnacles are able to swim, while adults are anchored permanently to a surface.
Reproduction and Lifecycle  How many sexes are there?
Are there differences between the sexes (ignoring the reproductive system)?
Are there different castes, such as in honeybees or naked mole rats? If so, what is the function of each caste?
Are differences in sex or caste used to justify discrimination or hierarchy? How might these ideas differ in different populations?
Do they have a concept of gender? If so, is gender affected by sex, caste, or some other factor?
How do they attract a mate? Do they release a chemical into the air, do an elaborate display, etc?
Does one individual try to actively woo another, or is courtship more mutual?
What do they find attractive in members of the same species?
What is the usual reproductive partnership? E.g. two individuals, one main reproducing individual with a harem, no set partner, etc.
How long do they live?
How are young brought into the world? Live birth, eggs, spores, etc?
Is producing young a painful, dangerous process, or is it easy?
How much parental investment is there? Are there many young with little investment, or few young with a lot of investment (r vs K strategy)? Or is it somewhere in the middle?
How many offspring are produced at a time? Think about how attitudes towards children may differ between a species that produces one or two, and a species that produces dozens or even hundreds at a time.
How do they grow? Are they born looking like miniature adults, gradually growing bigger? Do they have specific phases of high growth, like puberty? Do they have a larval phase, metamorphosis?
How self-sufficient are they as young? Can they move around and feed themselves as soon as they are born? Do they require parental care?
What is the usual structure of childcare? Single or multiple parents/related individuals? Communally raised?
Is sex purely for reproduction, or does it serve other purposes?
What kind of sexuality is considered the norm? This doesn’t just refer to same/other sex pairings, but the culture around sex in general.
Diet and Foodchain What is their diet? Are they carnivores, omnivores, frugivores, insectivores, etc?
Do they feed off an unusual source, for example rocks, metals, or (in appropriate settings) something like magic or souls?
What physical adaptations do they have for this diet?
Is their diet very restricted, or can they have a wide range of foods?
How often do they eat? What is the culture around mealtimes, if any?
Are they prey for other organisms? For each other?
If they are, how do they deal with it? Do they fight back, have barriers, or do they accept it as a part of life?
If they are hunters themselves, what is their attitude to killing other organisms? Are they respectful? Prideful of their kill? Is it completely trivial?
If they are hunters, how do they hunt? Are they solitary or packhunters? Are certain members of the group designated to hunt?
Are the results of foraging or hunting shared, or is it everyone for themself?
Are they parasitic, parasitised, or in a symbiotic relationship with any other organisms?
Body Rhythms How often do they sleep?
What time of the day are they most active? Are they nocturnal, diurnal, crepuscular?
Do they generally sleep for one long period a day, multiple shorter periods throughout, or something in between?
Do they sleep to cope with extreme temperatures or bad conditions, i.e. hibernate or aestivate?
Do they have any biological processes that disrupt their life e.g. moulting, reproductive cycles, etc?
If yes, how does their society accommodate for these processes? Does it accommodate them at all?
Communication What is their main method of communication? Sound, visuals, scent, etc? Think about their main sense and how this would affect communication.
What is their body language like? What small moving parts might aid their body language?
If they have multiple methods of communication, are they all given equal weight, or is one considered higher than others?
Society How sociable are they?
If social, what is the usual social structure?
Are there hierarchies? How strict or relaxed are the roles?
How are disputes usually settled? Is it more common to be violent or appease the other party?
If not social, what is the reaction to being with other individuals? Do they become aggressive or stressed? Do they tolerate each other?
What is the usual size of a community? Do they have communities at all?
Do they have an in-group vs out-group mentality? If so, how strong is it? This generally relates to how scarce or plentiful resources were during their evolution, and how territorial their ancestors were.
What kind of bonds do they form?
On the spectrum of individualistic to community-oriented, where do they fall?
Do they have a strong sense of personal identity? Think about how this might tie in with the previous question.
What are the main things they derive identity from? Occupation, gender, family ties, etc?
Do they have names? If yes, how are these names formed? Are they given by another party or chosen by the individual?
Have they domesticated any creatures? If so, what do they use these creatures for?
Do they have any unusual relationships with other creatures on their planet (beyond predation, parasitism or mutualism)?
Do they produce art? What are their main forms of artistic expression? Think about how this will be linked to their main sense(s), communication method, and/or primary manipulators.

hey, how'd you learn how to do your makeup? i'm kind of a novice over here
Hey!! So I learned via a lot of methods - tips from friends, videos, googling. It's hard for me to remember a lot of my sources over the years. That being said, I'm going to try to link the ones I know help the most.
The Pretty Fix - this channel hasn't updated in a while but has a lot of tutorials designed to be trans-inclusive and beginner friendly. It's a great resource for just starting out and for understanding a lot of basic techniques and things to keep in mind without it being overwhelming or throwing too many product types at you.
How to Apply Eyeshadow PERFECTLY (beginner friendly hacks) by AlexandrasGirlyTalk - This video is short and simple and yet probably the most effective one I've seen when it comes to breaking down eyeshadow. I still haven't fully 100% mastered doing eyeshadow, but I feel a lot more confident with it after watching this a few times.
Dude, eyeliner changes your whole face by Alexandra Anele - Another good technique and theory video that helps a lot when trying to figure out eyeliner, which IMO is the hardest part of trying to do eye make up and something I'm only starting to feel good with as of this year
NEW Updated 2021 E-Girl Makeup Tutorial! by hannah owo - This one might seem silly at first glance because, y'know, E-girl, but honestly this is one of the most helpful makeup tutorials I've found and has drastically affected how I've done my makeup. What makes this one so good and helpful IMO is that unlike a lot of other makeup tutorials you can find, this one uses a lot of drugstore and bargain brands (at one point it recommends using a Crayola marker to create freckles) and shows the ways one can make a super elaborate look using a surprisingly small amount of products.
FACE BASICS: Hide Facial Hair (using Makeup!) Part 2: Makeup by David K Davey - I don't really do a lot of this anymore (I used to go way overboard on covering that area early in transition lol) but for those worried about beard shadow or discoloration in that area, this helps teach how to be cover that up and the colour theory behind it. Mastering this can be a godsend.
Those are the main links I can think of right now! For someone still getting in, my best advice is to get the basic tools you'll need - primer, concealer, foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blush - as well as a sponge or brush kit and play around with them, using tutorials and googling every time you think you come into an issue. Then you can start looking at more advanced things like contours and eye shadows, and the good thing about eye shadows is that most palettes have a bunch of videos online of people doing various looks and tutorials with them, meaning if you find yourself stuck, you're almost always guaranteed to find something you can use as a reference.
Makeup is hard and I still don't feel like I have a perfect understanding of it, but it can be quite fun once you find a set up you like and start getting comfortable enough to experiment with new looks and products! I hope this could help at all and I wish you the best of luck going forward!

Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Church
In my initial meander into the church, I took no notes or observations as I had not yet formed any intention to create a larger opinion of the church than what I'd already seen. This time though, my purpose was one of documentation and journalistic investigation. To begin, I took note of the physical structure and aesthetics of the church.
From the exterior, the church has been a stark and imposing landmark of Drogheda since its present building's façade was completed in 1884 (incorporating in part the original 1793 building, constructed following the repeal of Penal Law prohibiting a Catholic church within town walls). Nestled amongst the many other churches and historical buildings of the town, it reflects a centuries-old culture of religious architecture. The largest spire reaches far above the rest of the town's rooftops at an impressive 222ft, and boasts ornate decoration from top to bottom, fitting with the rest of the church's face. Multiple statues and carvings adorn the 19th century stonework, an undeniably intricate and imposing visage.
Before the church's three entrance archways (two smaller on either side to a larger) lies stone steps leading up to the doors. Notably, there does not seem to be any present accessibility accommodations for those with mobility-based disabilities. The church has offered webcam footage of masses since lockdowns in 2020, so there is a degree of resource provision for those unable to make it into the church in person, but the only wheelchair-accessible entrance appears to be behind an oft-locked gate and a carpark for church staff and maintenance. This entrance should ideally be marked more visibly and be unobstructed for a more disability-friendly and equitable environment.
Journeying within, the tall, iron-plated wooden doors give way to a marble-tiled porch, which hosts a stoup of holy water, again carved with decorative detail. Passing through another set of doors, we enter the nave: polished, mosaic-patterned brown stone lines the walkway, bordered by the two rows of wooden pews. Wide marble pillars joined with white carved arches fortify the domed, portioned ceiling of the aisles, which is a humble shade of midnight blue and embellished with stars. Resting above the narthex is the organ, an enormous instrument enshrined in colour by the beauty of the stained glass window that resides above and behind it, the centerpiece of the exterior face.
Proceeding through the church, the elaborate reredos and sanctuary bring attention to the altar area. The altar's white stone face is decorated with a carved image of Jesus and the disciples, likely a depiction of the Last Supper. Behind this, the rather large reredos hosts further statues and carvings of saints and holy figures, and is often festooned with bouquets of flowers. The three spires of the reredos reach a decent vertical height and humbly mimic those on the church's exterior in design.
Continuing to the left of the altar, the church hosts its unique relic and point of local historical interest: the severed and preserved head of one (Saint) Oliver Plunkett (Note: the use of "preserved" here is an entirely too generous a description; the poor man looks like a raisin). Plunkett himself was summarily executed (hanged, drawn and quartered) by the British in 1681, after being found guilty of high treason for "promoting the Roman faith".
The head only arrived in Drogheda in 1921, having spent the years between travelling around Ireland, England and even visiting Rome, an undeniably impressive travel catalogue for a decapitated head. Accompanying his head at his shrine in the church is a small collection of (unlabeled, but what one can only assume are his) bones and the door to the prison cell he was kept in prior to his execution.
In more atmospheric regards, the church is not the most comfortable. Partially due to the ceiling's height, a constant, almost damp chill remains in the air within, and there does not appear to be a great effort to heat the interior. This could be due to understandable economical reasons: it would be tremendously inefficient to heat such a structure, but nonetheless creates a less-than-welcoming embrace upon entering the church. The pews are similar in nature; hard, bare, carved wood and thinly carpeted kneelers. The hard stone floor and enormous size of the interior also create a distinct echo to any sound, one amplified by how frequently the church is almost (if not entirely) empty: perhaps a poetic enunciation of the changing attitudes of the people toward the Church as a whole.
All said, the church ranks highly in terms of surface-level aesthetic, but drops significantly in areas of patronage (or lack thereof), accessibility and interior comfort. Now though, to focus on the confessional investigation, this time with more deliberate purpose and clear criteria.
In this second experience of this church's confessional, I was more prepared on how the proceeding would take place. I had my "sin" in question at the ready, taking mental notes of the experience as I went. The wait was short, a line of three or four people before me. Again, no confessional box was used: I had hoped it was perhaps a once-off, perhaps the booth had been under maintenance? Alas, I sat down opposite the priest (a different one from the week before) and gave my confession. A stolen umbrella apparently warranted a practiced, neutral tone of indifference and recited absolution. Not bored, not interested, simply a rehearsed procedure and a distanced air of almost artificial compassion. Now, admittedly, this reaction could be due to the decidedly pedestrian nature of the presented "sin", and a neutral, non-judgmental attitude is no doubt preferable in an environment of confession, so a verdict on the experience couldn't be made on this basis.
The penance given was a trivial two Hail Mary's and a suggestion that I donate some money to charity, supposedly to balance the cost of the theft. I felt this was a rather sensible and conscientious prescription, and so for the sake of authenticity, completed the request in due time.
As a disclaimer, to give the overall church and confessional experience a categorical or nominal rating could possibly be seen as disrespectful, callous, a mockery of the church, perhaps even some form of blasphemy. I, of course, took this into serious consideration with the utmost respect and reverence when writing this. I would never deign to assume that such a varied and sacred practice as religious worship could be so objectively reduced to a mere 1-10 rating.
That said, St. Peter's Church gets a 6.5/10. Wouldn't confess there again tbh.

VOY: Caretaker (Part 1)
Just like its predecessor, Deep Space Nine, Voyager opens with an expository text crawl explaining the current galactic situation. We learn about the Maquis – a plucky, non-Federation rebel group fighting the Cardassian occupation – then jump right into a heated space battle!
Tumblr media
Fire! Raise shields! And somebody turn off that damned smoke machine!
As one would expect from a ragtag group of resourceful underdogs, the Maquis wear mismatched outfits made for trouble; we’re introduced to Chakotay and B’Elanna, both sporting rolled-up sleeves and tough leather vests.
Tumblr media
Forearms mean business.
Tuvok is here too, although we don’t get a good look at his outfit from any of the angles in this scene. Chakotay makes up for it, however, by giving us a bit of a catwalk look at his duds: the patterned shirt is lovely, and probably meant to evoke his Native American heritage.
Tumblr media
Actually, this may be the least problematic reference to his “heritage.”
Next, we’re taken to a sunny, verdant New Zealand penal colony, where Captain Janeway is busy picking out a boy toy. Unsurprisingly, we’re working with the same Starfleet uniforms currently in use on DS9, with a coloured section on the shoulders indicating department, and a grey turtleneck with rank pips underneath.
Tumblr media
Get used to it – Voyager won’t be receiving wardrobe updates for about the next seven years.
Janeway finds the man she’s looking for – the boyishly handsome Nick Locarno Tom Paris – and hands him a “get out of jail free” card in the form of an invitation to join her crew. Tom considers her offer, weighing the excitement of adventure against having to give up his stylish prison coverall; the garment is concrete grey, with subtle shade differences across the chest and shoulders, not unlike a Starfleet uniform. I appreciate the asymmetry of the dark grey extending down the left sleeve, but not the right. The flap closure at the front is a little bit sexy, too, and along with the rolled-up sleeves, gives a “greasemonkey” vibe we’ll come to see a lot of from Tom.
Tumblr media
The ankle monitor makes a nice accessory, too.
Meanwhile, Voyager is docked at Deep Space Nine, and we cut to a character we all know and love: Quark! …In the process of ripping off young Harry Kim. Although Quark’s ensemble technically belongs to another show, I still have to award it “best outfit” for the episode. The matching teal hues in the pants, shirt, and jacket is a beautiful bit of coordination, and it’s obvious the costume department has had a few seasons to perfect the character design. It’s not unusual for a Ferengi to dress so lavishly, but Harry should probably take it as a warning sign that he’s about to be ripped off.
Tumblr media
I’m sure he’ll be fine.
Up on the ship, Janeway has a chat with her fiancé Mark, who’s sporting a handsome wool-looking jacket in a dark mustard colour. Mark only gets about six lines and thirty seconds of screen time, so his outfit has to really pull its weight here building a character: handsome but approachable, smart but unpretentious, still shops at GAP in his 50s.
Tumblr media
Sensible. I meant sensible.
There are no new costumes for a while as we meet the ship and crew, but we do get a few nice close-ups of Janeway’s lovely, elaborate updo – a more complicated style than the “bun of steel” she’ll wear in coming episodes.
Tumblr media
Ignore the wig glue. It’s just… space sweat.
I suspect the stylist wanted all those extra swirlies in there because, once the action begins and our crew gets roughed up a bit, Action-Tousled Janeway looks amazing.
Tumblr media
Slay, girl.
Harry and Tom go to sickbay, which is going to be full of patients very soon, and is also on fire. It’s hard to get a good look, but Harry puts on a cool Starfleet-issue oven mitt with metallic fabric to extinguish the fire.
Tumblr media
Was that hole always there?
Tumblr media
The least visible costume prop of all time.
In all the commotion, the crew realizes they’ve been zooped across the galaxy – 75,000 lightyears from home. But just when you thought we’d be stuck on a spaceship with one set of clothes for the next seventy years, we’re zooped again… to a southern country farm?! It looks exactly like Earth, and what looks like a perfectly human grandma comes out with cookies and lemonade to greet Janeway and co.
Tumblr media
Floral fabric, ivory cameo, plate of cookies… yep, that’s a grandma.
She’s not alone, and soon the farm is full of completely “normal” “humans” having a good time, dancing and playing music. It’s literally the friendliest alien welcome party in history, but the Voyager crew are spooked. Moreover, they seem confused by the folksy straw hats and denim overalls.
Tumblr media
Highly suspicious flannel.
With one exception: Tom Paris has quickly made friends with one of the illusory farm girls, a young woman in a cute printed dress with a belt, mary janes, and bright white ankle socks.
Tumblr media
First contact: cottagecore edition.
However, Paris’ new friend gets a bit upset when they turn down her extremely tempting offers of a “real private” root cellar, a duck pond, and deviled eggs, and suddenly the farm folk aren’t so welcoming. The crew is zooped back to the ship – mostly. Harry Kim is missing.
Tumblr media
Get outta here! And take your synthetic fabrics with you!
Discovering a similar absence on the Maquis ship – B’Elanna is also missing – the two crews decide to work together to track down their people.
As they discuss plans, we finally get a good look at Tuvok’s Maquis disguise: he wears a cropped, open jacket made from a textured brown-green fabric, with sleeves in a lovely deep blue. The trim between the different fabrics is subtly shiny, giving the impression of leather straps. More importantly though, he wears an orange shirt underneath that appears to be stained at the collar – is that greenish hue Vulcan blood??
Tumblr media
What happened to you in the Maquis, Tuvok?!
The episode isn’t out of costumes for us yet, though, and it’s a hard pivot from the dirty, worn-in clothes of the Maquis – as the viewpoint switches to that of our missing crewmembers, we find them in white clothing that resembles hospital gowns, albeit with an awkward strap closure that goes all the way around the back.
Tumblr media
You know that strap has come undone and dipped in the toilet at LEAST once.
We also get our first look at the Ocampa, who at the moment are also clad in white, gauzy outfits. Unlike the “patients,” they wear strange fruit-netting-ish infinity scarves around their neck and head.
Tumblr media
Keeps their melon safe.
The mesh fabric looks like it might be some kind of protective gear, but no, as we explore more of the compound, we see the truth: Ocampans just don’t know how to wear a scarf.
Tumblr media
So close…

Trying be more consistent in how I name bases this time around. When I mark a wrecked starship (or other point of interest) with a very basic teleporter setup, I’m marking those as a “portpoint”. Places where I’ve built a micro base (2-6 roofed over tiles) are “shelters”. More elaborate structures are “bases”. My first of anything in a new sector of the galaxy is a “foothold”.  Places I adopted a pet will be “Petname-Home”. The names are otherwise mostly a combination of the planet name, and what’s of interest there (part of the wreck’s name, or the glitch item type, resource, etc). My most ambitious structures will probably have unique names.
Been missing building actual structures, since the few things I have been building lately are almost all portpoints, so when I found a scenic mountainous desert planet that was a possibility for where to build the cliff-site base I want to do, I killed a couple of hours looking for suitable sites. No luck on finding a usable location, so I landed on several mountain peaks with good views and ran resource scans until I found one with a good deposit of copper, and then built a small base and a copper mine there. Which at least used up some of the vast overabundance of silicate powder I had cluttering up my inventory.
Late last night I finally found a planet I thought might be a possibility for my SGA-inspired Atlantis base. Sadly the “Mostly calm” weather proved to have short superheated cloud bursts, and the lighting there stains everything sepia, so I have changed my mind about its feasibility. Instead I’m using it as a practise site, to experiment with how to assemble some of the buildings I’ll eventually want on my real Atlantis base. At least I got to kill a few hours in happy base building before deciding it was a nope after all. Which also helped me make some design decisions, like that I’ll use the stone building set for the snowflake-shaped base of it (originally was using metal, which is too dark and doesn’t really show colour changes). After re-examining screenshots of Atlantis, I’ll also be having walls dropping down from the edges of the snowflake to give it the proper thickness, ending below the waterline. Might floor a section between arms to make a big shallow pool, just because I can, though mostly they look like they’re meant to be dockable areas for watercraft.
The central spire will be the biggest challenge. My initial one is completely the wrong shape and size. I think what I’m going to end up doing is a hexagonal base for it using the stone or metal building set, and then build a cuboid structure upwards from that, to get the soaring height and weirdly bulbous top. Also I’m finding the short range teleporters both useful and frustrating; useful because they allow quick point to point travel to shortcut across distances (very City of Atlantis), frustrating because they are ridiculously short range, as in relatively close line of sight on both to be able to run the connecting cable (which I also hate the visibility of). What they really need is an intermediate transfer object that you can run the cabling through so that you can link them together across more than just both-in-close-sight distances, like how I can lay a long electrical transmission wire by setting down a line of lamps or switches to run it from point to point.
And now back to searching for that elusive perfect planet (man but am I missing Biorico back in Euclid, it was a real gem of a planet).

I have no idea what put this into my head yesterday, but it seems to be stuck there, so here it is. (And writing it down was better than doing lab busywork; full PPE in a heatwave is to be avoided.)
---
Lothal has always been trouble, as all the First Order personnel on the planet know all too well. The base of the notorious Spectres for a time, before they moved on to terrorise the rest of the Outer Rim, its “liberation” robbed the Empire of a key resource when it needed it most. Even now, while the majority of the population do the smart thing and keep their heads down, the flames of rebellion never seem to go out.
In every city and town, small acts of defiance add up to create massive headaches for the Order. Facilities and equipment are sabotaged. Supplies go astray. Public spectacles are disrupted. Once, someone even hijacked the main comms tower and broadcast the entire work of some obscure band called the Meat Droids on all channels, occasionally interrupted by the infamous Lothal Message. And, of course, there’s the constant graffiti. No matter how quickly the anti-First Order designs and slogans are removed, more always appear as though from nowhere. The most popular image is always the phoenix symbol used by the last rebellion. It’s usually less well-executed than those painted by Sabine Wren (Countess Wren, now, firmly entrenched on Krownest and resisting the First Order with her clan’s whole might), and as well as Rebellion red and orange it appears in many other colours - blue, green, purple, gold, white, turquoise - but the intent is clear. Burn us all you like; we will rise again.
Today, the rebels struck in Capital City. An arms convoy was diverted, and later apparently recovered, but when the crates were opened the blasters and ammunition had been replaced with meilooruns. The exotic fruit, which only grows in warmer climates than temperate Lothal, could possibly be traced, but the authorities already know it’s a waste of time to try. The rebels are smarter than that; they’ll have imported them through the black market specifically for the occasion. In fact, it’s unlikely that there’ll be any clues to their identity, although to save face an investigation will still have to be carried out. The rebels will go unpunished, and the First Order knows better than to take its frustration out on random citizens. It won’t make the Empire’s mistake and create martyrs.
Halfway across the planet, an old woman dismounts from a loth-wolf with the grace of someone a third of her age, barely needing the wooden staff in her hand for balance. A satisfied smile seems glued to her face, but it’s only when she’s thanked the wolf and he’s loped off that she throws her head back and laughs. That was too easy. The FO have inherited too much from the Empire - software, hardware, even protocols - and treat “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” as a commandment. Diverting the shipment was a simple question of broadcasting the right signal and knocking out the guards. The blasters will be broken down for parts; those that the rebellion can’t use themselves will be sold or traded to help pay Clan Fett and Ohnaka Transport Solutions for the meilooruns. (Once, the woman would have thought an Ugnaught would fly unaided before Hondo went vaguely straight, but his business seems to be doing well enough.) And the ammunition will make useful explosives for future operations. Crucially, the whole lot is out of FO hands.
As the woman heads into the cave system that’s been her home these last few years, she sheds what passes for her disguise, piece by piece. There’s no longer a need for the elaborate cosmetics and dyes she used when she was younger; human memories are so short. The headscarf, now faded from its original midnight blue, over her Wolfpack-coloured hair comes off first, and is tucked into her belt as she massages some circulation back into her ear-tips. She’s never got used to that. Then she unwraps the leather strap from around the central third of her staff, revealing the engraved durasteel beneath, and clips it back into its usual place. Finally, after hanging up the long brown cloak she was wearing over her shell-white tunic and 501st blue trousers and resting the quarterstaff in its holder, she opens the latter’s secret compartment and removes the cylinder of durasteel and copper within, replacing it with a simpler device, also kyber-powered (using Aayla Secura’s crystal, to be exact). It’s only when her lightsabre is back on her hip that Jedi Master Helli Abbasa finally feels she’s come home.

The Meat Droids live with @keldabekush, by the way, just for completeness.

The Simplicity and Benefits of Plain Finish Laminates
When it involves interior layout, there's frequently a tug-of-conflict between flashy trends and timeless simplicity. The issue is that Jungkook -and you're not a bitch for thinking that- is a little bit of an idiot.
He can be very smart. He can be wise and present unsuspecting resources and knowledge. He can teach you things you don't know anything about, figure out others you struggle to -but not during stressful times like for say an escape game because during those, he turns absolutely, utterly useless.
But he is an idiot too. An idiot that sometimes shapes situations and conclusions and ideas in a very peculiar way that is very singular to him.
That’s precisely what happens then. He plays his role right, to its full extent, with great dedication and commitment. Except he missed a memo, misread the script and ends up playing a role that's not the one you planned for him. He believes that he’s your new adult toy provider (as if there is such a thing).
When you think he’s coming over to share a meal or play some game or binge-watch a series you promised to wait for him to experience together, he has a box hidden in his pocket or carried under his arm.
He has the decency to not comment on it the first time around. He just set it down on the coffee table, between the bowl of chips and the one filled with guacamole. You see the logo on top of it. You recognize the design, reffined, minimalist with the pretty pastel matte colour.
He probably identifies the shame and the annoyance on your face, painting your cheeks and reshaping your eyebrows, and doesn’t say anything. Simply smiles to himself and starts talking about the series’ new episode that’s about to start.
It takes a lot of efforts, coming from you, to ignore the conspicuous object sitting just in front and in between you. But eventually, probably because more than a decade of friendship with this guy have grown impressive mind muscles on you, you manage to make abstraction of it.
It just stops existing for a while until he leaves and you’re curious to see what’s inside. And again you have the same old intentions as before. The same ones.
You won’t use it.
It’s curiosity. And it's fine for you to be curious because he’s the one buying it and gifting it to you. Why should you be blamed?
Freshly hopped in bed, just done reading the notice hanging over your face, you’re yawning and sending your eyebrows high in interest. Again you won’t use it but it sounds very interesting. That’s when you get a text from him.
Guk
So about the toy!
As if you were waiting for his explanation. As if the conversation got cut short and you were expecting him to pick it back up whenever possible.
You won’t entertain him.
You
I said not to buy me this.
Guk
You never said that! You said something about me being crazy but never about buying one again
Because you're mostly made of petty bitch material, you scroll higher quickly, wishing to find something, any text that would corroborate what you’re saying.
You don’t find anything though. Because you never actually told him to not buy you other toys by text, and now that you come to think of it, you probably never did out loud either because you didn’t fucking know that he would even consider doing so.
It’s not even Christmas anymore. It’s not your birthday. There’s even less of a valid reason for him to get you this therefore, of course, you did not explicitly warn him not to, you didn’t think it would be necessary.
You
It’s not even my fucking bday why???
Guk
I told you the lady at the shop
But who the hell is that lady?
Guk
She talked about a lot of products and they all seemed cool and because you liked the other one I thought I’d get you this one too
You
Jungkook
This simple response says a lot, you hope he can read between the pixels of his screen the desperation, the irritation, the frustration, the silent insults.
Guk
Listen it’s super cool it's supposed to mimic the touch of a finger
Jungkook then proceeds to explain to you how it works. The original idea being a system with a tiny ball rolling under a silicon skin, to place on your clitoris to have the illusion of a finger's touch. And it’s interesting and innovative surely and sounds intriguing as in, you wonder if it’s accurate, but you’re tired and it seems like you’re wading in some sort of swamp you can’t escape from. There’s a fire burning your skin from your cheeks to your chest. You’re both hating this conversation and unwilling to just draw a final period to it. This asshole.
You
I can read
Guk
So you opened it already??
There’s a bunch of excited emojis that follows his last message and fill up the empty space your lack of response leaves.
Why and how can he be so eager?
Here comes the delusional part of your brain. It’s a very wide, very deep hallway covered in bookshelves filled to the brim with stupid interpretations and beliefs and sometimes even memories you’ve shared with him. Often next to the laters are pinned an article from a teenage magazine or the jacket of a romance movie, specifically there to validate that yes, indeed, it must have meant something.
The door of that corridor just creaked opened. You can discern the sound, you can feel the particular atmosphere without even having to take a step through.
Is it really that normal to be so excited about that? For him? As a friend?
It’s the most frustrating part: you are friends. Friends who supposedly can tell each other everything. Friends who can ask each other anything.
You should be able to talk about it. Just ask him. If there’s anything behind this whole mess, if he means to tell you something, if it’s wholly mindless, if there’s no hidden agenda.
It should be fine. There’s only trust and affection in this friendship.
You are still too scared, you are terrified that he’d start linking dots, ask himself some new questions, potentially answer them himself, and have you all found out.
You'd have your barely well-worn cover thrown completely away.
You send the blank emoji. The one with even the eyes closed. It summarizes your actual state pretty well, speechless, relatively annoyed.
Guk
She said you could try it on other parts of your body too
Guk
At first
Guk
Like on your lips or your nipples
You want to die.
Now.
No, better, you wish to have never been born.
Why is he talking about your nipples? Why?
And through all that, you still feel like something is wrong with you, along with your feelings.
Turns out you are so overwhelmed by his clueless inadequacy, you need a good half an hour and a random shot of tequila to get through it. When it’s gone and exhaustion of a long day and alcohol have knocked nervousness and panic out, you fall asleep, forgetting about answering his outrageous last texts.
“What does it mean if a guy talks about your nipples?”
Min's finger stops midair, above the cash register she's been working on. She needs a good minute to get back to her senses and while you wait, anxiety invades you. Maybe you should never have brought it up.
But this question, the torturous thing is slowly killing you.
Min finally turns her head to you, eyes squinted and eyebrows drawn low. She sucks in her pretty red lips before opening them to start formulating, with it seems a certain struggle, an answer.
“I don’t think I quite understand.”
It’s a pretty straightforward, relatively easy question. That’s what you'd want to say but you’ve reached the state of bashful regret and decide not to press it. Some things are better just left alone.
“Who talked about your nipples?” She ends up asking the one thing you wished she wouldn’t because there is no way you’re giving his name.
“Doesn’t matter.” You mumble, turning around slightly, getting back to the task you were here, paid, to do -wipe the shelves clean and not talk about your “““love””” life.
“I think it does. You wanna know if it means something? Like the guy's into you?”
“Something like that.” Your cheeks are aflame now. No doubt about it. You silently curse at your manager who refuses that you don’t wear the ugly hat that holds your hair back because having a curtain of hair to hold behind, as a help to keep some of your remained, sparse dignity would have been peachy.
“What did he say exactly?”
Silence. You’re not elaborating. She sighs, defeated.
“Well, I suppose... he’s considered the fact that you have boobs. If it’s a straight guy, that’s a good sign, I guess?” She shrugs.
You don’t like the answer. It’s exactly what the wrong, defective part of your brain, the one directly wired to your heart, wanted to hear.
She doesn’t even have the context, anyway. It doesn’t mean much, doesn’t hold much power in your court of sensibility.
She stares at the side of your face, clearly attempting to drill holes in your head to try and find some answers. You’re awfully silent, have said too much yet not enough and she’s dying to know the whole story. You won’t give in and she can tell. There’s no way you’re sharing the whole thing. The most, probably, probative point of the whole story: the sex toys. It’d turn her into a devastating tsunami of nonsense and misinterpretation and drown you in its wake and you can’t, when you’re already struggling to stay afloat, allow that.

Impending Doom is elaborate with a compendium of rules, rewards, punishments, and structure that could rival the great Archives in complexity and for being abstruse to any outside observer. Which is also rule number 46...allow no one to ever observe acts of Doom.
While she and Anakin can claim all they like that it is simply an innocent game to alleviate outside sources of distraction, to remind themselves to be more mindful of their thoughts and connection to the Force, and a ragged litany of a great many other things they ought to be doing or not doing as faithful, obedient young Jedi, the fact of the matter is...that it isn’t. Really a game that it. What it happens to be is an elegantly multifarious ritual designed to carefully explore all the infinite emotions and desires they have that are far too conveniently forbidden to them for the mere fact that they exist. And were she put on the spot, Keni would have absolutely no idea when exactly it had begun or for just how long they’ve been playing. How different rules or clauses get added to it and which are carefully pruned for either not exactly bearing the hoped-for fruit or because by nature of being a living thing connecting them they have become obsolete.
One example of the previous had been the exchange of robes, practice sabres, and the like. Even for that brief period where she and Anakin had been roughly the same height ~much to her surprise~ no one had ever been fooled by their attempts at trading places. An example of the later had been the joint decision to be either the first or last padawans to seek their sleeping pallets in the clan creches so that they would not be discovered sharing blankets and curling up together. Privacy had been gained when they’d been appointed their small, cell-like quarters, but that instituted a need to become stealthier. To better learn how to weave compelling tales of why they were so often together. To being able to reach out across increasingly more vast distances all for the sake of never being parted for long.
Some parts of the game were strictly intended for comfort or pleasure in small ways that had intrinsic Logic built in: by sharing an actual water bath or shower or time in the refresher was not an excuse to rest against one another skin-to-bare-skin, but an effort at conservation of precious resources too often squandered in the austere decadence that was life on Coruscant. Her sense of taste and smell are by far sharper than other humans in part owing to the night-blindness that effects all Zelosians, preventing them from seeing anything at all in light less than that of a full moon. Biting Anakin the way she does is absolutely a conclusive tool for medical diagnosis of blood-born pathogens. When ~after hours of being bent over sick and wounded patients~ he would take his clever fingers both metal and flesh and work out the series of knots and kinks in her shoulders or neck, Anakin was displaying his retention of having learned that if left unattended these would cause great pain and eventually compromise her work.
All very reasonable, functional, things.
But the part of the game that isn’t...the part that has its roots in her deepest love and devotion to Anakin has no real Impending Doom behind it. If anything it is directly opposing, born of a need to affirm life and health, things that others have always seemed to fail in ensuring that Anakin thrived. But it, too, is a ritual. From the moment she lays eyes on him, she cannot help but devour every line and lilt of his too long, too thin frame. Every strand of hair windswept across his brows. The weariness in his eyes that like a sea can drown her and despite being a strong swimmer, she would let happen because she can think of no better end than one found in him. The instant it is appropriate, she steals moments in which to press as close as physics and voluminous robes will allow. Beginning at his crown and trickling downward in mimic of rain, she brushes the pads of her fingers down his neck to his shoulders then follows along down the length of his arms and back up partially so she can make fists at the small of his back, grasping cloth if it is there, or to settle against his bones if he is only in his skin. She rises on the tips of her toes and tilts her head upward, eyes closed. She becomes a flower basking in the vivifying warmth and light of its sun. And then she breathes Anakin. Oh, her nostrils will flare and can pick up those traces of recycled and filtered air, the perfume she has come to dislike on principal, the faintly dusty reek of papers she downright despises. She breathes in the scent of sweat and soap. Of wherever he has wandered and come back from. She breathes in his exhale and fills her lungs with him. Lets him seep into her pores and through the supple bark of her skin. Absorbs him in a way that cannot take more than what is offered in their long embrace. All of it edged in a kind of quiet desperation because the truth is...the longer they are parted, the more she is starved of all that she has come to love. But the physical realm cannot compare to the way they meld around and within each other within the Force itself. Ebb and flow. Without beginning or end, without any desire or need to retain individual essence. They dissolve into a singular consciousness. Formless and eternal and without separation, and perhaps it has always been meant to be this way. Nothing but shades of colours that are indefinable to sentient gaze. Nothing but emotions expressed in their purest lights and darks. There is no need for words. There is no need for anything that is not one to the other. Nothing else can come close, nothing else can come between.  Nothing else exists. Nothing else can.

5 times Jason surprised the Titans and 1 time they surprised him
Chapter Title: You were raised by strippers!?
Chapter: 5/6
Summary: The titans have to go to a gala hosted by Bruce but they're going to be late because Jason insists to do Rachel's outfit. However Rachel, learns something new about Jason and Diana and Donna wanna kidnap him to Themyscira.
“What the fuck are you wearing!” Jason practically screamed as he took in what Rachel was wearing.
Today they were supposed to go to a gala that Bruce had decided to set in San Francisco. He liked to say it was for a business trip but everyone could tell it was to see his youngest and his eldest. But they were soon distracted by Jason's near hysterical tone and turned to see Rachel.
“Clothes, dumbass.” she snapped. She did look nice. She had on a short black dress but her makeup was slightly heavy.
“No, no, no! What you're wearing is an abomination! And don't get me started on your makeup! Dark heavy goth look would be nice if it wasn't to see my dad! And try to do something nice with your hair for once!” he ranted waving his hands up and down to indicate each part he was describing. Everyone rolled their eyes at their dramatic teammate.
“Jay, maybe you're being slightly dramatic. Rachel looks-” Dawn tried to say to calm down the younger boy before he got into another fight with Rachel.
“Looks like she'll be the next meal course for some douchebags who don't know what no means. Hell, she can't even hide a knife behind those drabs!” snapped Jason already moving to Rachel.
Everyone had a slightly dumbfounded look but Dick plowed on. He was going to go to this Gala, even if it'll kill him.
“Jason, just leave her alone. We're going to be l-”
“Shut up!”and everyone stilled at the tone. It sounded distressed, as if he was on the near verge of a panic attack. Rachel quickly shook her head and sent him a look while putting her hands on her hips.
“Fine then, great beauty critic. I'll let you style me in whatever you want. You get free reign in all my clothes.” she said sarcastically but Jason's face lit up and he quickly started to drag her away to her room.
“We're so going to be late.” muttered Kory.
“Diana is so going to use this against me.” whined Donna.
“How's the kid meant to know anything though?” asked Hank in confusion.
Everyone just shrugged and waited.
~Rachel's Room~
“You're such a dick.” she snapped as he ruffled through her closet.
“No, that's Dick. I'm the designated assholes who was raised with strippers for most his life.” he said sweetly before finally deciding on something and throwing her some clothes on her bed. He turned away to face the other wall and closed his eyes. “Get changed. I'm not peaking.”
“Sure you aren't!” she snapped.
“I repeat, I respect women and most of my life I was raised by strippers. You get respect for women when you realise that most men are assholes.” he snapped back.
It was quite for a while before Rachel started talking and Jason could hear her getting changed. “Why were you raised by strippers?” she asked curiously.
“My ma was high most times and my dad was an asshole.” he replied and didn't elaborate more.
“Oh, I'm sorry.” she said sympathetically, already pulling on the dress that Jason had made her wear. She had to admit it was a really nice dress. It was a blackish dark blue dress with a golden belt. It was short at the front and stopped mid thigh before being long at the back and stopping just underneath her knees.
“I don't want or need your sympathy.” he snapped and he was glad that he had kept his eyes closed.
“But still, being polite is nice.” she said. “You can turn around now.” she added.
“Never happened to me.” he said simply before grabbing her hand and leading her to her vanity.
Rachel didn't say anything, just sat there as Jason began wiping at the makeup she had placed on, humming a little song to himself.
“Close your eyes.” he ordered, holding up a brush of some kind.
Rachel did as he asked and he continued humming a little melody, the only thing keeping the silence at bay, and before she knew it he was finished.
“There. The best I could do with limited resources.” said Jason “Open up your eyes.” he added.
“Wow…” she muttered, impressed and shocked. Her cheeks had a slightly pinkish hue in them to make it look more natural and her eyes had a sunset effect except with black and blue and her lips were a pretty pink colour. “You should open up your own beauty salon.”
“Don't exaggerate. If you hate it just say so.”
“One more self-crippling comment about yourself so help me I will turn into a demon.” she threatened the slightly taller boy. Jason didn't say anything but Rachel could see the small smile of happiness on his face.
“Come on. Before The rest think we've killed each other. Or worse!” Jason finally said. Rachel giggled and grabbed his hand dragging him over to the living room.
“Damn nerd. If I knew your hands could be useful I would have used them a long time ago.” said Rose as she looked Rachel up and down.
“Damn. You know, me and Diana live on this beautiful island with a bunch of beautiful women who would for you to-” Donna tried to say casually but was cut off.
“My baby brother is not going to be fed to the sharks.” snapped Dick, shooting Donna a glare.
Donna pouted slightly before looking at her watch and her eyes widened comically “Oh shit we're going to be late! All of you, hurry up!” and she ran, heals and all.
~At the Gala~
“What took you so long.”
“Bruce! Not the time! But you darling, truly do look beautiful. Almost as beautiful as the women in Themyscira. How did you manage this?” Diana asked Rachel appreciatively, interrupting Bruce.
“Umm, actually Jason did it.” Jason who had been quite up until now blushed bright red when Diana directed her look at him. She smiled real wide before putting her arms around him, dwarfing his already small body.
“Jason was it? You know me and Donna live on an island where a bunch of women would love if you would-”
“Don't even think about it Diana. My son is staying here.” Bruce interrupted, already moving over to them and grabbing Jason out of the Amazons hold.
Jason blushed bright red and looked down, cuddling closer to Bruce.
“Baby…” all the women whispered, taking their phones out to take pictures.
“Hey, Rachel? Wanna dance?” asked Gar.
“Sure.” she said, glad for the blush already on her cheeks.
“Grayson?” Kory asked.
“Of course, my lady.” he said, taking her hand in his and spinning her to the dance floor.
“Dawn, wanna dance. Might not be good at it but-” she cut him off with a kiss and nodded her head.
“Nerd? Can you dance without breaking my feet?” asked Rose, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah…” he said, stepping out of his guardian's embrace and quickly taking the girl on the dance floor.
“And you Donna?” Bruce asked.
“Nah, I'm just the cool older sister who's decided that Jason's too pure for this world and needs to be protected.” she added taking more pictures of her friends.
“That reminds me. Why did Dick call me about Jason's academic level? With how many times he's bought me an assignment he'd get 100% on, I would have thought he would be showing off at any chance he gets.” Bruce asked.
Donna stilled for a moment. “... Shit. You know, that blonde looks really cute. I'm going to go and talk to him.” she said before speed walking away.
“Odd.”
“They're kids, Bruce. Now talking about Jason, I would like to be his Godmother.”
“For fuck’s sake.”
