Today was a cold one! The plans I had to go see some friends ( the boys I used to watch) were cancelled and I was pretty bummed about that but we rescheduled and i decided today needed a good walk in.

I’ve been really working hard on having my rats spend quality time with me and also with each other, especially because I have different cages that I would like to be all in one cage, it’s going to take some work to get them all feeling comfortable together.

The new boys met the big boys today and we went on a walk in the snow and ice! Normally I would suggest not taking your rats on cold walks but I have a baby carrier hoodie that I love putting my rats in and I also wear a warm puffer jacket over the top and zip it up so all the warmth from our bodies stays in there and they can still put their little noses up for fresh air and smell the great outdoors as well.

Anyway, my love and I walked over 3.5 miles today and took the boy rats and they did absolutely amazing together especially for their first meeting! Yay!

Thinking about how cool it would’ve been if the Soc spinoff used Wylan’s knowledge of Fjerdan to expand on his friendship with Matthias, like when Matthias didn’t know the Kerch word for snow goggles in the book and he didn’t want to ask Nina he just pointed to them and said “keep your eyes covered” instead, but we could have had him turn to Wylan and say:

“Lamb. How do you say snow goggles in Kerch?”

And then Wylan would say “snow goggles” in Kerch (/English for audience purposes) and then Matthias would tell everyone to put their snow goggles on and we would see both Nina and Jesper seething right up until their eyes were covered - especially because Nina would understand what Matthias had just said.

My first thought was; ‘they’d probably think anything’s perfect as long as they get to spend time together again’, but then I realised; ‘yeah, Leo’s so gonna overthink and overplan their dates though ’, followed by; ‘Usagi’s life is filled with travelling by foot, (often in awful weather) and exhausting in so many ways, he’d probably love to just stay inside and rest with his boyfriend.’
