#competition or overshadowing for the couples?
Text
Instead of the “Jason vs Percy” rivalry we should have gotten Annabeth vs. Jason but instead of a fight for power it’s them having a battle of autism cause their special interests were Greek myths vs Roman myths.
Jason calls a Greek god by their Roman name and Annabeth pops up out of nowhere and goes “erm, actually”
The 7 is talking about some landmark and Annabeth and Jason start arguing about which pantheon it was dedicated to.
“It’s amazing right? It was dedicated to Athena.” “Erm, it was actually built for Mars…”

Overlay Observations #1
Tumblr media
Note: keep in mind that aspects and signs are also very important when reading synastry charts, and it cannot be left aside to prioritize overlays.
Sun in 1st house: this is a tricky overlay for any type of relationships, because it will depend a lot on the strength of the sun in both charts. It can either become the type of relationship where the Sun becomes an excellent guide for the house person to discover their creativity, skills, and core self. They will feel more confident and with an extra shine next to the planet person. As if a disco ball was turned on in a dark room, and there’s a spotlight right on you. The house person will also help the Sun stick to their core principles and feeling comfortable in fully expressing themselves with little judgment. Now, that is the positive expression of this overlay if both individuals are able to avoid the elephant in the room. Yes, the ego. The sour side for the house person is to feel overshadowed when they are next to the planet person, and it can therefore trigger an unnecessary need of competition that could easily ruin the relationship. It is also difficult for both individuals to ignore the triggers that they cause in each other due to the amount of similarities that they share. Their own toxic or unhealthy habits will be noticeable to both, but so will the positive ones as well. It really all boils down to how comfortable both individuals feel within their core self. If either has very low self esteem, it will be harsh to feel at ease with each other. Overall, it can be very helpful and rewarding to encounter each other and see themselves in a mirror for good or bad, especially for the house person since the planet person aspects their 7th house of relationships.
Venus + Mars in 1st house: this one takes the cake for "I saw, I wanted, and I conquered" with the planet person being the one who quite literally charges towards the house person with A LOT of passion to the point that it can be overwhelming if there isn't any other aspect to support it. The planet person recognizes in the other all the qualities that they look for when it comes to relationships and the way they move through life. They both feel extremely physically attracted to each other. Instant magnetism. They are able to see the house person as someone who naturally matches their own sexual energy, and it feels like a no brainer to desire closeness. If Saturn or any other strong aspect/overlay isn't involved in any way, it might be a short hot fling. You will both enjoy the insane chemistry and common ground, and unless Pluto, Rahu, harsh aspects are involved, there shouldn't be much of a hiccup if there's a separation at the end. You will fondly look back to remember how you both felt like an IT couple next to each other, and rekindling the fire would be quite easy if there's a reencounter.
Saturn in 1st house: there is a deep sense of responsibility and seriousness that is quickly developed between these two individuals. They both feel like the relationship is one that they would prefer long term, even if there's a heaviness to it. The planet person brings a grounded energy that encourages the house person to think long term, and they will go to great lengths to please the planet person. Its almost as if the house person wants to earn the respect or admiration of the other, and depending on any other planetary aspects made, it will either be something that will lift the house planets to higher highs or will make them feel overwhelmed with the pressure. Think of it as the pressure necessary to build diamonds, meaning, a necessary discomfort to achieve greatness. There's also a very karmic tie between these two individuals, and they will recognize it. The house person will feel like the other was brough into their lives for a reason, be it good or bad. As if they attracted this person due to their previous actions in a current or past life.
Ketu in 1st house: this is the most common "I've met you before" aspect in synastry. There is a strong feeling of comfort and ease between these two individuals, and the house person will feel a breeze from the past with the planet person. This truly goes both ways, and they both recognize it as well. It can also feel like a soulmate connection and one of the two will comfortably claim it so in their mind and heart. Even if Ketu is commonly perceived as a malefic in Vedic astrology, it is also the key to unlock a higher spiritual awareness, and this is exactly what this overlay causes. So, if both individuals are not actively pursuing to expanding their spiritual side, it will gradually create separation. Ketu brings a cleansing or purifying effect that almost feels like a burning sensation when its met with resistance. Hence why this synastry overlay or even with aspects can feel so debilitating for the planet person particularly. There cannot be a spiritual resistance from either side, and growth must be consistently practiced. Meditating together, learning occult knowledge, or even doing yoga will naturally enhance the relationship and it will be much easier to manage. It will also be more comfortable for individuals who already have Ketu touching personal planets or in the 1st house, also for those that have Scorpio placements in their natal chart.
Juno in 1st house: this is the "You are wife/husband material!" synastry overlay. They both feel like the other person has the qualities that they look for in a serious committed relationship. The asteroid person will simply feel like house person matches a lot of the pointers they have for what they would like in a marriage partner. On the other hand, the house person feels like they can hear wedding bells ringing from afar whenever they interact with the other. It is generally a pleasing overlay and both individuals are able to have a good common ground on what they expect from a long term relationship.
Venus in 4th house: a definite favorite overlay for romantic or platonic relationships. They are able to break the ice easily with each other during the beginning stages because there is a strong feeling of comfort they experience together. They are the type to spend hours chilling next to each other reading, scrolling through TikTok, or watching movies for hours with no issues (unless there are harsh aspects or malefic planets). The planet person feels at home with the house person, and things like cooking, cleaning, or nurturing each other develops with a lot of ease. The planet person brings material benefits to the house person, so if they move in together, the house person quite literally gets their space improved or it gets beautified in some way. Lots of harmony when it comes to these matters in general. They are the type that redecorate their home together as a hobby. It is also a good overlay for naturally wanting to grow a family and having an ease with it since their values match when it comes to raising children.
Mars in 6th house: this is a very wholesome and motivating overlay. The planet person brings a lot of energy to get things done and actively helps the house person on their daily life. The house person on the other hand, gets activated on their sense of servicing Mars, and it is common for them to also do a lot of little AND big things to make their life easier. I've seen them cooking, cleaning, or even fixing things for the house person frequently, but it generally goes both ways regardless. Acts of service as a love language is seen here. In general, there's a lot of "I want to help you grow and develop" between the two of them. They could even work or do exercises together as well. The only downside is that one of them could be too judgmental or picky with how things get done, and it could make either feel as if their efforts go unnoticed or unappreciated. If the relationship drifts apart, they will miss each other a lot because of how present they were in their day to day. Sort of like, you will think of each other while doing mundane activities like washing the dishes or doing groceries.
Venus in 8th house: as most astrologer enthusiast explain, this is not an overlay or synastry for the weak, at all. There is a strong attachment that is developed whenever the 8th house involved. Both individuals feel like two candles that join together to create a big flame that can warm and destroy with equal strength. The negative side is very clear, a heavy and almost addictive feeling with a heavy dark intense undertone. The house person sees Venus as a princess/prince that somehow appeared in the place they try to hide the most from others, and this immediately creates a desire to get very close. They want to study Venus, understand how they got in there to begin with, and determine whether they want them in there or not. In this case, the house planet holds a lot of the control. Venus will not have easy access to the house person unless it is granted. They will keep on creating obstacles to keep the planet person from getting closer until they recognize that there's no way to keep them out unless they literally walk away. The positive side is when the house person surrenders to the feeling of developing an intense and deep connection with the planet person. Once they do, it will feel like they are able to reach depths that they were unable to do so before with anyone else. It is common for both of them to share resources with each other and there is also a strong sense of loyalty that develops after the common challenges (jealousy, possessiveness, mistrust, etc) are worked out. Venus brings wealth and abundance to the house person, either through gifts or by simply attracting that towards them like a magnet. The house person on the other side shares their own resources VERY often, and have no issues with even dipping into their savings just to please Venus.
Jupiter in 10th house: I would call this the "You're my money lucky charm" overlay along with the 2nd house overlay. The planet person brings expansion, growth, and luck to the house person when it comes to their profession and public image. There is a lot of knowledge and guidance that the planet person provides, and that allows the house person to use those pointers to achieve their goals much faster than they would have been able to do so alone. For the planet person, it feels like they are very popular and/or noticeable within the work or public life of the house person. Unlike Venus, who is seen as a trophy wife/husband or as a very obvious romantic partner next to the house person, Jupiter is seen as someone who is like a sage, advisor, or foreigner. Overall, this is a very positive overlay for both to grow towards their material goals. The house person will prefer to spend more time outside with the planet person instead of being at home all the time since it aspects their 4th house. You both want to be seen together being out and about.
Moon in 12th house: this is a very complex interaction between two people, and it will depend a lot on what type of relationship they have (romantic, platonic, familiar, etc). In a general sense, the moon person will experience some confusion when it comes to acknowledging their feelings towards the house person. As if there was a veil that keeps them from taking confident steps forward. It is common for both people to develop a resistance into trusting each other at the beginning, but the other side of the coin is that they can't help but grow closer towards each other. The house person feels seen in every sense of the word, and they can notice how the other seamlessly understands what goes through their head almost as if it was telepathy. Now, even if the planet person is able to navigate somewhat well the subconscious mind of the other, there will be a constant doubt or hesitance. It will be hard for them to even understand why it feels this way, and only through identifying their own subconscious wounds will they will able to recognize the root of their confusion. Once this feeling and pattern is explored, it will feel as if they veil is lifted and they will understand the house person like the back of their hand. This is an aspect that can be rewarding if the planet person is focused on their spiritual growth, as they will gain immense knowledge to their own mind (since the moon rules the subconscious mind as well).
Hope this was an insightful and enjoyable reading~

Tumblr media
One of the most frequent things you've heard over the past few years was praise for your older brothers.
Typically it would go along the lines of; "Oh, Quinn made captain, you must be so proud!", "Jack and Luke are looking incredible lately, you must be so excited for them!", "Your brothers' are killing it right now, you're so lucky to be related to them!"
Most times you didn't feel very lucky.
That sounds rather harsh, upon reflection. The unmovable truth was that you loved your brothers more than life. They were pivotal parts of your making; indestructible forces ready to care for you and protect you through anything, big or small. They were willing to combat anything to ensure that your smile remained on your face at any given time. They were your older brothers and you couldn't even begin to imagine a world in which they didn't exist, in which they didn't tease, mock and love you.
But sometimes, you just wished people could find it within themselves to separate you from them when the time called for it. Another recurrent theme you've noticed over the last couple of years was that any achievement you made, whether it be academic or simply lying elsewhere, had a tendency to be accidentally overshadowed or overlooked by so many people in your life.
Your Mom and Dad tried their hardest to ensure you the importance of your hard work but sometimes, just sometimes, you had a horrible suspicion that perhaps their support was just out of pity. You were different from your family, everyone knew it and you embraced it. You were the only one out of the entire family to not play hockey beyond your childhood and despite being the youngest, you'd watched your older brothers, even Luke, who was only a year senior, falling even more deeply and madly in love with the sport. You, however, had stepped out onto the ice for the first time as a fresh-faced four-year-old and knew almost instantly that it wasn't the sport for you, but you'd never voiced that feeling until you were eleven.
You could remember that day so vividly, the day when you'd let it slip that you didn't want to play anymore. At the time it had been the most terrifying thing you'd ever thought of doing.
EIGHT YEARS AGO
It was dinner time in the Hughes household and all four kids had jolted at the sound of their parents calling them for dinner. Jack had led the pack in a stampede down the stairs, his fourteen-year-old legs bounding forward to win a race only he was participating in. Twelve-year-old Luke had followed suit, racing towards the dining table, not in competition, but in what he would describe as "starvation like that one ad on TV talked about". Quinn, at sixteen, had long decided he was far more responsible than his younger counterparts and walked down the stairs just a little behind the rowdy pair ahead.
You, at eleven, moved much slower than all of your brothers. You'd had a hockey match that morning in which you'd ended up crashing headfirst into the boards. It hadn't hurt, not with the helmet on your head, but it had been the last straw. Tonight was the night. The night you were going to finally tell your parents that hockey wasn't for you. That the sport was enjoyable but only if you were watching from the sidelines.
Your hands were trembling, your teeth biting down hard on your lip, so hard you thought it might burst any second. You couldn't find it within yourself to stop. It soothed the nerves that had begun to build. Your family loved hockey, they breathed it. You wouldn't be surprised if they all ran tactics and strategy in their dreams.
You walked into the dining room with your shoulders hunched and head bowed as you made your way towards your usual seat between Quinn and Luke. If your brothers had noticed your odd behaviour all day, they hadn't voiced it. You kind of wished they would just so it would get the ball rolling.
Dinner was laid out in front of you almost tauntingly. Tonight's dish was pasta, ever so conveniently shaped in the various shapes of a hockey stick, a helmet, and a skate. Your brothers grinned at the shape of the food, whilst your mom and dad laughed in amusement.
"I found them earlier down in the shop," Ellen Hughes beamed, as she looked amongst her children. "Thought they might make dinner interesting!"
"It does, Mom," Jack grinned in approval as he shovelled a forkful of it into his mouth. You had yet to even pick up your utensil, you just stared at your dish in silence.
"Y/N, honey, is your head hurting from earlier?"
Your mom's voice almost made your straight face slip. You lifted your gaze slightly letting it fall on your mother's worried yet comforting eyes. You opened your mouth slightly but words failed you. You resorted to just shaking your head before looking down.
"Why would her head be hurting?" Quinn questioned defensively, as he looked between you and Mom. You hunched your shoulders further into yourself as the attention on you was now a lasting event.
"She hit the boards earlier, head on," Jim Hughes supplied, swallowing his mouthful of food. He had had the day off and jumped to accompany her to the game. "Hard enough too, but the little soldier got right back up."
You hadn't.
You had laid there for a solid fifty-four seconds brimming with brewing hatred.
"You hit the boards?" Luke snorted, his teasing eyes on your small figure. This was regular joking for the family. They would all mess around and laugh about things that went wrong with anyone, it wasn't out of the ordinary, but tonight?
Oh, tonight this teasing was just piling onto your problem.
"Someone tried to take the puck," Your dad continued mindless of the storm generating inside of you. "It clicked almost immediately for her though and she passed the puck perfectly. All she did was just miscalculate the distance between her standing and the board's closeness, and even then she was fantastic."
Your dad's words should've been comforting. Usually, you would burn with bashfulness at the praise. Your brothers snickered at the image they created of you falling into the boards and before you knew it you could barely hear them. All you could hear was white noise whereas all you could see was vibrant and hot red when you looked down at your plate.
"Sweetheart, when's your next game?" Your mom's kind voice broke through the noise, as she picked up some more food with her fork.
"IWANNAQUITHOCKEY!" You suddenly burst out, causing your family to jump at the volume of your words. Your heart was beating frantically, your hands wringing on your lap. You looked guiltily towards your mom and dad with a nervous gulp.
"Wha' dif' fou 'ay?" Luke asked through a mouth full of pasta, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. For you, the heat in the room rose and engulfed you in fiery waves of nerves as you glanced between your brothers and your parents.
"I want to quit hockey..."
PRESENT DAY
You had remembered the silence that had followed. Your parents ahead exchanged a look as they set down their forks and asked you to explain why. Once you'd begun explaining, you'd burst into tears, all of the pent-up stress and years of pushing yourself to fall in love with the sport only to fail came spilling out.
Your parents had jumped into action at your tearful display and granted the boys permission to finish their dinner in front of the TV in the living room. Once they'd left, your parents had sat down on the empty chairs beside you and immediately began to try to calm you with soothing arm and hair strokes and whispers of "c'mon, steady breaths now, you're okay".
You had continued to sob as you explained all of your feelings over the years. You had even admitted in your bleary state that you were scared your parents wouldn't like you anymore because you didn't like hockey. You had remembered the heartbroken look they'd both given you as they doubtlessly reassured you that no matter what you chose to do at any stage in life, they would forever love you. Your mom had cradled you in her arms, whilst your dad had continued to run his hand through your hair as you tried to calm yourself down.
And so, you stopped playing hockey while your brothers only flourished and fell deeper into the depths of adoration for it.
As the years passed your love and knack for academics— notably English and history, encompassed your life and filled you with everything you've ever craved. You threw yourself into your studies, your spare time spent reading books from the library or curled up watching too many David Attenborough nature documentaries for your family's liking.
You thrived in high school managing to maintain a 4.0 GPA. You worked various jobs over the years, from stacking shelves in the local library to making and serving coffee in a cafe near your home. Your mom had once teased that if you hadn't worked and kept out of the house you would've studied yourself to death.
By the time you were a senior, Luke, Jack and Quinn had all been drafted to the NHL and you couldn't have been prouder. You had attended all of their drafts, excitement rolling off of you as you clutched your brothers in such tight hugs they thought they might never breathe quite right again. You were overjoyed that they were able to translate their passion for hockey into the skills needed to succeed and to watch their happiness thrive only made it all the better.
Everything ran so smoothly...that is until people couldn't disassociate you from your brothers. You were thrown into the deep end once all three of your brothers had been picked in the draft. You had been the victim of fake friendships, relationships, and people, in general, trying to be close to you in order to be any inch closer to the famed Hughes boys. Towards the end of high school, their looming presence in almost every conversation agitated you.
It was as if they were the sun, blazing and vital to so many aspects of life. Whereas, you, on the other hand, felt like Pluto in their solar system, small, insignificant and not even important enough to remain a planet.
Nevertheless, you had what you loved within your grasp, it didn't matter what you were in regards to their standings, your talents lay elsewhere and there was no denying it.
You had graduated as Valedictorian with your parents watching proudly in the stands. Quinn had also been there, a pleasant surprise on your half considering he had played a game late the night before. Yet he'd flown home for you, to watch you walk the stage and you had almost giggled in glee. As Luke and Jack on the flip side, had a game the day of your graduation and couldn't miss it. You had reassured them that it was alright (no matter how disappointed and upset it actually made you feel).
After the ceremony, with your diploma in hand, you'd walked towards the stands, your eyes scanning for your parents and brother amongst the buzzing crowds. Conversations swirled with laughter and yelps as students reunited with their families and friends.
"You know that girl–the valedictorian? She's the one whose brothers play for the NHL,"
Your ears had instantaneously perked at the mention, and a heavy, unsettling pit began to form as unease churned in your stomach. You had faltered in your tracks at the words, your ears straining to listen for any other snippets of the conversation.
"Oh, the valedictorian! I thought I saw Quinn Hughes up in the stands, I thought it was my imagination."
Disappointment and what could only be embarrassment had crashed over her as you listened to the conversation continue. They hadn't been able to even remember your name despite it being mentioned more than a few times on the stage, yet of course, they knew your brother, who was one of hundreds in the crowd.
A sudden bout of envy had gripped your heart as you tried to blink away welling tears. This had been your day. Your day. You hadn't worked so hard to be forgotten so easily.
"Angel!" your delighted, yet teary-eyed mom had pushed through the crowd to engulf you in a massive hug. "My baby is all grown up!" You had plastered a smile on your face as you wrapped your arms around her to hold her close.
Your dad was next to be hugged, his big hand had ruffled your hair as he bore a wonky smile and cracked voice whilst telling you how proud he was.
And finally, Quinn had squeezed you to death, his tight grip holding you as he practically spun you around, your feet brushing the floor. You had let a laugh break your moping, as you clutched at your eldest brother's shoulders.
"Your speech was incredible," he mumbled from above you, as your head rested against his shoulder. "I had Luke and Jack on FaceTime the entire time."
You felt your cheeks grow warm as you tried to hide your sheepish smile. As you swivelled your head, however, you had spotted not one but three separate people with phones pointed towards you and your brother. Your smile had instantly dropped and you wiggled in his grip until he'd let go, his eyebrows furrowed as you tried to change the topic of conversation.
And just like that the excitement of the day had dimmed.
You loved your brothers but they would always be gods in everyone's eyes. But you'd only ever amount to an Angel— touched by divinity, loved by so many but never quite good enough and absolutely never equal to the power of gods.
The day of your graduation had only been evidence of such. You'd never be able to escape the shadows of your brothers no matter how hard you worked, no matter how much you yearned to.
That summer, you fell into a slump of sorts. Your usual cheery smiles and bright eyes had been dulled. You weren't outwardly rude or dismissive but you talked less, participated in family activities less, finding excuses left, right and centre to avoid socialising. Your stack of books that usually were reread every summer lay untouched, covered in a very thin layer of dust. Your family had noticed your change as soon as the slump had started.
They just thought it would go away within a week or so.
Mom had spoken to you too many times to count asking if you were alright and if she could help with anything, you'd simply waved your hand and denied that anything was wrong.
Your brothers had tried too.
Luke had tried to get you to play video games with him, play pool, go to the mall with him, yet you conveniently always had other plans to attend to. Jack had tried to get you to come to the country club and play golf with him, or at least sit in a golf cart reading so that he could talk away with you whilst he played and yet, you refused, claiming you weren't feeling well.
Avoiding Quinn had been the most difficult task. As the eldest and you the youngest, he always felt more protective over you than over your wild other brothers. With five years between each other, Quinn was the one you naturally leaned towards during any inconvenience. He'd been the first you'd called when you'd accidentally gotten drunk off of alcohol-spiked juice at seventeen and had panicked when you couldn't find your friends. He'd stayed on call until your mom had arrived and you were safely tucked inside her car. He'd been the one you'd run to when you were little and had nightmares, and he'd let you bury yourself in his bed covers beside him, with mumbled words of comfort as you shook. He'd been the one who'd refused to leave your side when you'd been bedbound with a bad case of the flu when you were nine, reading stories to you and keeping you company in the solitude of sickness.
He'd been the one you'd tried your hardest to not spend time around because you knew that if he went digging into your out-of-character behaviour, you would break and spill everything in seconds.
Since hockey was in the off-season, you'd seen your brothers more often than not. They'd spent the last month in the same house as you and your parents, it was getting harder and harder for you to continually bypass all of their offers to hang out.
A sudden knock on your bedroom door caused your head to snap towards the door where Luke had sheepishly stuck his head in through the door's gap. You shuffled in your spot underneath the blanket you'd surrounded yourself in as you had curled up on your bed, despite the warmth of the outside air.
"Mom said dinner is on the table," he yawned, before pushing your door open for you to follow and disappearing from the door. You stretched out your limbs, placing your book on your bedside table as you unfurled. Your tired eyes blinked slowly whilst you forced your body to trek downstairs.
Everyone's eyes seemed to follow you as you silently entered the room, not that you noticed as you slunk towards your seat and slumped down into the wooden chair with your head down. You stared blankly at the plate before you looked towards your mom and forced a small smile.
"It looks good, Mom, thanks," you nodded towards your mom before looking back at your plate. Your fingers twirled the fork around as you began to eat slowly. Noticing the growth of an uncomfortable silence, you raised your eyes, only to meet your entire family's gaze. "...what?"
"Y/N, angel, we need to talk," your mom began soothingly, glancing towards your dad almost nervously. Your eyebrows furrowed as you placed your fork down, your hands dropping to your lap.
"About...what exactly?"
"Y/N, what's going on with you?" Your dad suddenly asked, causing your mom to carefully nudge him. "You've been distant, and locking yourself up in your room for the summer."
"I haven't been distant," you denied, pushing yourself further back into the comfort of your seat. You could feel your brothers' eyes piercing you from where they sat.
"That's a lie," Jack scoffed as he swallowed a forkful of food. You shot him a blazing look, your eyes narrowed and as sharp as knives.
"You're not yourself, Y/N," Quinn added cautiously, his eyes flitting around your face to try to gauge your emotions. "You've been making excuses all summer not to spend time with any of us. We miss you, Y/N and...we want to help you, you just gotta let us know what's wrong."
You looked down at your hands as you bit down on your lip to suppress the trembling that threatened to wrack through your body. Luke glanced down at his plate before he leaned forward towards you.
"Y/N, we can help you now, we have the time, hockey doesn't start—"
Don't," your voice seemed unfamiliar to even yourself as iciness weaved its way into your words. "Not now."
"What do you mean?" Luke retorted as he scrunched his eyebrows in bewilderment. "All I said was—"
"Everything has to revolve around hockey." You hadn't meant for the dam to burst and release the waves of frustration and upset but there was no stopping the course it was now paving. "It always has been and always probably will. Every dinner conversation starts the same, every text, every call and I understand why...But life isn't all about hockey."
"I don't..." Luke shook his head and looked towards his brothers for support. His softened and baffled voice filled your heart with a tinge of guilt, but your heart wasn't in control of your words, your mind's bitterness was the one with the reins. "I don't get why that's a problem..?"
"Because you don't realise how out of place it puts me." Your eyes burned with the vicious sting of unshed tears as you began to fall and stumble into a panicked ramble. "And I know I've never said anything about it, but do you know how much of a black sheep I feel like? I mean I chose to give up hockey, I chose to focus my mind elsewhere, so it really has nothing to do with you guys; but when it's constant hockey talk?... I have nothing to say. I have nothing to add, and I feel boxed in...I feel wrong, as if I was some faulty add-on you got landed with."
"You are not faulty, Y/N!" Your mom cut in sharply, her eyes now tinged with sadness.
"Two hundred and three," You bypassed your mom's saddened gaze as you focused on your brothers.
“What?" Jack shrivelled his nose as you spoke.
"Two hundred and three games, ceremonies, and hockey-related events I have attended in order to support you." You explain, whilst your eyes darted from brother to brother. "To support all of you and those are only the ones I can remember."
"Y/N, angel…”
Your dad's calming attempt to soothe you permeated your ramble and only filled you with an indescribable rage.
Always "angel".
Always a goddamn angel.
"Six." You continued, your fists clenched so tightly that the bite of your fingernails embedded deep into your palms. "Six times in my life, you three have managed to make it to an event of mine or ceremony. It goes down to two if you only include events, where all three of you were in attendance."
"The truth is no matter how much I convince myself I'm not an outsider, no matter how much I succeed in life and have every glory at my fingertips, it'll never be enough. No matter the circumstances, people will always find a way to undermine my success to boast about yours. How unfair is that?”
The tears, now unstoppable, rolled down your heated cheeks, leaving a wet trail as your family watched and listened to your cracking voice.
"Every big milestone in my life people twisted it to frame you guys in the foreground. All I wanted was to be great– be so great that, for once, people could separate me from a crowd without it being about my brothers. For years, I got the highest grades, worked locally, tutored, volunteered, and yet my only legacy will be that I have three older brothers whom, to everyone else, I will never measure up to."
"So, after years of trying to ignore the truth and deny it, I realised that there's no possible way I'll ever amount to the Hughes name, I'll never be great and I'll never be able to be like you. And it's...it's a terrifying thought to know you were intended for greatness but destined to fail."
Your tears blurred your vision as a heavy stillness settled over the Hughes family dinner table. Another second passed before regret crashed into your very being and settled amongst the chaos. Your hand flew to your mouth once you'd finished talking, the complete reality of what had happened hitting you full force as your body shook in adrenaline.
"I...I'm," Your horrified eyes scanned the table before you jumped to your feet. "I'm sorry...I'm really...the food was really good, Mom, but I'm, uh...not really hungry anymore." And before anyone could protest you scrambled out of the room, leaving your family to watch you flee.
Anyway, let me know what you think…also part 2 might be coming 🙏

My Person - Mick Schumacher

Summary: You're an aggressive driver... except when it comes to him

Tumblr media
MS47 X Fem!Reader
Mad Max had seen nothing on you when you got crashed into in a race. The media, especially Drive to Survive, had always portrayed you as some evil, harsh, aggressive woman when you were nothing but a sweet, loving soul behind the camera, behind the racing where people actually know you. Sure, you weren't too big on making friends or pursuing friendships with people you didn't trust. You were friends with all the drivers, though. Even if you weren't best friends with them all, you were still relatively close with them all. That didn't stop the media from treating you as though you were the human equivalent of a pile of garbage. Typical.
The drivers insisted that you were completely different from racing but no one believed it. Your positive radio messages praising good moves, even those against you, weren't shown and all your good deeds seemed to be overshadowed by DTS. You had fans though who knew all that you liked and what you were actually like.
It didn't matter to them, though. To the media, to DTS, you were nothing but an evil, harsh, rude, disrespectful driver. You couldn't help being passionate about your job, though. You wanted to make your family proud. You wanted to make the whole of Brazil proud. You needed to make the whole of Brazil proud. So it made you tough, determined, it made you realise that there isn't much you wouldn't do to achieve your dreams. If it meant all your time and effort, it meant all that time and effort. Every. Single. Bit. But that's just something that came with being a Brazilian, determined Formula One driver who's dad was THE Rubens Barrichello.
Your dad and Michael Schumacher were closer than people believed. It was sometimes played off as a rivalry with a hint of friendship but, realistically speaking, they were relatively good friends. You weren't too close with their family, though, until around 2009. You had always been a very determined racer. And that meant being overly competitive in your karting days. Most of your karting group weren't as close with you because of that. Except one person - Mick Schumacher.
The friendship between you both had started off with you being quiet and closed off to everyone. He had been very determined to change that. Over time, you had learnt to tolerate his bubbly, smiley self and had started to care deeply for the man. He was the only person you allowed yourself around. You had never once raised your voice at him. Then again, you had never been angry at him post race. He had always been there if you had been taken out of a race. Whether that be him having DNFed as well or after he finished a race, he would always be there for you. And you were for him. No matter what happened, if he finished the race, if he dnfed, etc. you always made it very very clear that you were proud of him. You never let him feel anything but an incredible driver, an incredible person. Because that is exactly what he was. A good talent in a shitbox Haas. A good person. Your person.
A fond memory the pair of you held was when Gina had convinced you both to watch Grey's Anatomy so she could discuss it with someone and you had watched it together. When Meredith first called Christina her person, Mick had looked down at you, where you had been cuddled into his gentle embrace. “You know,” he had said softly, pausing for a moment as you looked up at him, watching you as your beautiful eyes had met his, softening the second you had looked at him, nothing but adoration in your eyes. “You're my person.” He had stated it so genuinely, his hand running through your hair as you both just stared at each other. He had watched the way your eyes seemed to light up the second he said it. Just when he was convinced he couldn't pine over someone as much as he did, you once again had proved him wrong.
Mick had never considered himself scared of you. Lots of people would say that he was only friends with you because he was scared of you. But that wasn't true. That had never been true. He loved who you were when you were with him. He knew how misunderstood you were. He knew that, sure, sometimes you got pissed off when you DNFed, but everyone did. Sure, sometimes you would exchange a few words back and forth with another driver who took you out, but you always apologised if you got angry and the occasions you were very angry were incredibly rare. As in, he had only seen you properly shout at someone 3 times in the time he'd known you - once when Pierre Gasly had been driving incredibly recklessly and you had yelled at him a little bit because he easily could've seriously injured someone, once in Karting when you were 11 and someone had cost you the championship through a stupid move (yes, you had apologised for that), and in 2021 when Max Verstappen had crashed you out of the championship fight. You wouldn't have yelled at the man (and slapped him) had he not had that fucking smirk on his face when he found out that he was still in the championship fight, even though you weren't. He didn't care about you no longer being in the championship. In fact, it suited him better because it had been a two way tie instead of 3. He had later apologised for that though so, not wanting to cause any drama, you accepted.
Mick had never felt so scared in his life as he had been during the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix. Someone, he wasn't sure who, had hit the back of his car and he had felt his heart stop when he felt himself latch onto the back of your car, dragging you with him, quite roughly. What had stopped his heart most, at that point, was the tractor that was on track without a red flag. Luckily, to both of your luck, you were both in a position where you were just out of the way so you had both hit the barrier, albeit pretty hard, but without any tractor incidents. And the race had finally been red flagged. You hit your hands on the steering wheel, speaking over the radio. “For f**ks sake. Please tell me I'm not out of the championship.”
“You're not, Y/N. You're still in the championship race.”
“Thank f**king God. Who even crashed into me? That could've been so dangerous for both of us if we had gone into that tractor.”
“Uhm, it appears to be Schumacher. All cars are past, you can get out of your car now.”
You had taken your seat belt off with record speed, getting out of the car and replacing the steering wheel. You turned, seeing Mick. He was sitting on the floor, knees brought up to his chest, helmet off, and his head in his arms. You were confused. Was he hurt? You headed over to him, crouching down.
“Mick. You okay?” He looked up at you, nodding. “You're not hurt, no?” He shook his head. “Alright. Come on, let's go get in the car and get back to the pits, alright?” He followed you.
However, once you got out of the car, he rushed off straight to the Haas garage. No goodbye or anything, just left. Placing your helmet into the hands of your race engineer, you watched Mick wipe his face as he headed into the Haas garage. You turned to your race engineer, zoning in as he questioned you on you being okay and not injured and stuff.
You had joined Formula One in 2021 with Porsche. Porsche weren’t meant to be coming into F1 for a few years, however, they had somehow managed to convince the FIA that there should be an 11th team on the grid and, somehow, they had agreed. Willingly. Thus, Porsche F1 Team was born. The grid increased from 20 drivers to 22, with you being joined by someone you drove in F2 with - Felipe Drugovich, another Brazilian driver. You had been beyond hyped, especially when Porsche had absolutely ripped, bringing you all to P4 in the constructors in its first season. Now, however, there was a chance of it being P1. And you were going to take that chance. Your dream was to be a champion, to make your country and your dad proud, and you would do anything to make that happen.
Feeling a tap on your shoulder, you turned to see a frantic Haas employee. “I'm so sorry for interrupting. Mick is freaking out, we need you.”
“What happened? Is he okay?”
“He's really worried that he took you out of the championship. I think he's scared to lose you. We tried to reassure him but I think it would be better coming from you. He also isn't going to medical despite needing to.”
You turned to your race engineer. “Can we catch up later?”
He shook his head. “Y/N you need to go get checked in the medical centre. That should be your priority right now.”
“No. I don't think you understand. Mick is my priority. Always. I'll go to medical with him.” You walked away quickly, following his race engineer towards Haas.
You walked into the garage, ignoring the weird looks you were getting, and straight over to the German driver who was sitting in the back corner, just like how you found him at the track, but inside this time, surrounded by people. They quickly cleared off when you signalled for them to. You knelt down in front of him. You didn't say anything, placing your hand gently on his knee.
He looked at you. “I am so so sorry,” he whispered, and you could see that he'd been trying.
“For what? You didn't mean to take me out with you.”
He had already looked away from your face.  “Yeah but I ruined your chance of winning the championship again. I'm so sorry. Please don't hate me, I don't want to lose you.”
You placed your finger on his chin, lifting his head so his eyes met yours. Your hand then moved up to his cheek, taking his face into your hand softly. “Mickey, you didn't take me out of the championship. I can still win. And even if you did, you wouldn't lose me, alright?”
“But… Max last year.”
“Mick Schumacher, the only way that you will lose me is the day that I die.” He smiled slightly and you took the opportunity to wipe a bit of the wetness on his face away with your thumb. “Plus, that was so, so different. Max smirked and made a comment when he found out I wasn't in the championship, it was deliberate, and I still forgave him. But he's nothing compared to how far you would genuinely have to go to push me away.”
“I don't get it, why?”
“You're Mick. You're my Mick. You're my person and I love you more than I'll ever be able to express to you.”
You hadn't felt his hand on the back of your neck until it pulled you to connect your lips with his. You didn't react at first, just genuinely in shock at the feeling of his lips on yours. His soft, gentle lips. The thing you had always wanted. And it was what you had wanted for years. And then he pulled away. “Fuck, I'm so sorry Y/N, I wasn't thinking. I shouldn't have-” You cut him off again to reconnect your lips, which he seemed to appreciate, as evident by his grip on your hair tightening slightly.
You pulled away from the kiss. “Odds on our PR managers having heart attacks right now?”
He chuckled quietly, showing you that beautiful smile of his that you adored. “Oh, almost 100%,” he responded, causing you to laugh as well, head leaning to rest on his shoulder. “We're on camera,” he whispered in your ear.
“Give them a wave,” you joked in response. “I believe we have to take a trip to medical.” You stood up, hand outstretched to take his. You shot a wink at the camera as you both stood up, before you walked out of the garage.

Enneagram of Personality - but yanderes!
made this entirely for fun. i'm not a psychologist or anything... just really obsessed with the enneagram and yanderes.
referenced enneagram user guide and advanced personality's enneagram wiki for making this as i based this system on the actual enneagram types. the regular enneatype (and tritype) is probably (exceptions likely!) the same as the "yandere type" but this is how each enneatype would behave as a "yandere."
i put way too much effort into this.
Tumblr media
Type One: The Perfector
1 wants to mold their darling. 1 will make strict demands of their darling and often have some kind of set of “rules” for them, even if it is not externalized. Feels most responsible for their darling’s behavior as though they are their misbehaving pet. Very possessive in a watchful way. High standards for Darling, will explode on them if they don’t live up to expectations. Feels entitled to Darling, similar possessiveness to 8, but it is self-righteous in 1 rather than protective in 8. Similar to 8 in forcing Darling’s dependence on them, but 2 is self-sacrificial while 8 is dominant. Similar to 2 in thinking "I CAN FIX THEM!" but 1 is more behavior-correcting, 2 more emotional comfort.
Sees their darling as someone flawed who needs to be corrected and controlled.
Most strict, demanding type. Most likely to kidnap their darling.
Trigger: Darling “misbehaving” and failing to meet their standards—or even worse, if 1 makes the mistake themself.
Type Two: The Savior
2 wants to save their darling. 2 will suffocatingly devote all of their being to them and thus suffocate them with affection. If they see their darling relying on another person, they snap. They ensure that their darling depends on them the most. Likely to create problems for darling just to solve them and be the “hero”. Very possessive in a needy way. Goes to great lengths for their darling but has internal resentment for Darling if they are not appreciated enough that will cause them to snap one day if not managed. Similar to 1 in thinking "I CAN FIX THEM!" but 2 is more emotional comfort, 1 more behavior-correcting.
Sees their darling as helpless. “Poor thing!”
Most self-sacrificial, manipulative type. Most likely to isolate Darling.
Trigger: Darling failing to appreciate 2, seeing someone else as more helpful. Someone else being nice to Darling will enrage 2.
Type Three: The Performer
3 wants to feel valued by their darling. 3 will accomplish major tasks in order to wow their darling and push their own feelings aside in order to achieve success and bolster their image. 3 makes offerings to their darling. Desires to make their darling proud of them. 3 wants to be seen as the “perfect couple” with their darling. Would probably get stupid matching couple pajamas and all that.
Sees their darling as a reflection of their success, a “trophy wife/husband.” Also sees Darling as inferior to them.
Most competitive, dedicated type. Very highly image-conscious, more obviously than 2 or 4. Likely to collar their darling, like, literally make them wear a collar. Likely to sabotage Darling’s success so they can be “better” and more “important” than Darling, keeping their attention.
Trigger: Darling seeing them as inadequate; rejection or failure or Darling overshadowing their own success.
Type Four: The Soulmate
4 wants to be the most important person to their darling. 4 will do anything for their darling to keep them from leaving them and often base their entire self-worth and identity on their darling. They are incredibly envious of others and set off by even the smallest actions that could suggest their darling thinks someone is more interesting.  Thinks that Darling is the only one to ever “understand them.” Daydreams a lot, similar to 5 and 9. Mostly quiet resentment to others but expresses it more than 5 or 9. Often appears like 2 but 4 wants Darling to rescue them rather than them rescuing Darling like a 2 (exceptions possible). Likely to guilt-trip or “sui-bait” darling but not intentionally like other types—they just feel too strongly.
Sees their darling as their “true love” or soulmate, a missing piece to fill a void inside 4.
Most emotional, sensitive type. Most delusional type. Most jealous, envious type (of course, because 4’s Passion/Sin is Envy).
Trigger: Darling overlooking them (not being “the favorite”) or misunderstanding them. Also Darling showing interest in anyone else.
Type Five: The Stalker
5 wants to understand their darling. 5 will watch from afar and seems to “take notes” on everything about their darling. They are incredibly observant and analyze everything about their darling, but are often too anxious to act and get truly close with Darling.  Resentful to everyone in Darling’s life but unlikely to act on it. Daydreams a lot, similarly to 4 and 9.
Sees their darling as fascinating.
Most observant, avoidant type. Type that stalks Darling the most. Type with the most quiet hatred.
Trigger: Infringement on their interest with Darling
Type Six: The Watchdog
6 wants to feel a loyal, secure connection with their darling. 6 is very paranoid. They see Darling as the only source of safety and stability in their lives. They constantly test their Darling’s loyalty and are likely to make other people ask their darling questions or play tricks on them to see if they’re truly loyal. Constantly on the lookout for rejection or disloyalty. They are very insecure in their relationship with Darling. Goes to extreme measures to keep Darling close, such as manipulation (very likely to guilt-trip them or “sui-bait”) or threatening other people.
Sees their darling as a protective source, most trustworthy.
Most clingy, suspicious type. Type that will become most enraged by cheating. Archetypal “murdering everyone he’s ever looked at” yandere.
Trigger: Darling betraying them, even if it is only perceived that way.
Type Seven: The Thrillseeker
7 wants to live an exciting, happy life with their darling. 7 thinks that their darling is the key to happiness and fulfillment in their life. Very madly in love type, puppy love-esque. Overwhelming need for love from Darling. Sick with optimism and blinds self to see only the good side of Darling and love. Daydreams excessively about love. Idealizes and tolerates Darling so much that it becomes detrimental to self. Overly trusting. Loves dates and adventures with Darling.
Sees their darling as their ultimate source of joy.
Most “love at first sight” type. Hopeless romantic, in the rose-colored glasses way. Noncommittal due to being restless rather than 4’s noncommittal traits due to being fragile. One of the most clingy types. Loves love the most. Most gullible type.
Trigger: Darling limiting them or making them upset; terrified by Darling setting up boundaries. Also triggered by Darling spending time with other people.
Type Eight: The Dominant
8 wants to protect and dominate their darling. 8 sees their darling as an extension of themself and ensures that no one else has power over them. Similar to 3 in that they want everyone to know their Darling is theirs. Probably refers to Darling in possessive terms like “my [Darling].” Similar to 6 in paranoia about not trusting others with Darling, but it is more controlling in 8 versus distrustful in 6. Due to their own fear of being vulnerable, they force Darling to become vulnerable to them in order to have power. Will probably try to isolate their darling. Similar to 2 in forcing Darling’s dependence on them, but 8 is dominant while 2 is self-sacrificial.
Sees their darling as their vulnerable “toy.”
Most possessive, aggressive type. Most likely to “mark their territory”. Most likely to become violent.
Trigger: Darling or others questioning their authority; enraged if Darling tries to become independent or questions them.
Type Nine: The Lapdog
9 wants to merge their life with their darling and live in harmony. 9 avoids conflict at all costs, greatest fear of losing their darling. Suppress their own needs not out of viewing them as lesser like 2 or an interference like 3, but due to fear of conflict. Fear of negative change expressed as a fear of any change as it becomes more unhealthy into the comfort zone. Seeks fulfillment with Darling’s contentment but does not fully engage and avoids making any decisions themself. Hides in a comfort zone. Daydreams a lot, similarly to 4 and 5. Quiet resentment like 5, but it is more passive-aggressive in 9. Likely to guilt-trip Darling, on purpose or not.
Sees their darling as a “safe person.”
Most submissive, passive type. Most passive-aggressive type. Most subtle manipulation.
Trigger: Darling being upset with them.

Tumblr media
Pairing: Javier Pena x f!reader [no name/ physical description/no use of y/n]
Words: 7.6
summary: You can’t stand Javier Pena but when Steve Murphy makes an off-hand remark that gets both you and Javier’s competitive sides going, there’s no telling how far you’ll go.
A/N: This is porn with a dash of plot because my other story is angsty and stressin’ too many people out and I love me a good enemies to lovers story.

Dare to Surrender Part 4
Why is Murphy out sick? Of all days why does he have to be out sick?! You need him here! You need his big looming sexually-neutralizing presence
Because today Javier Peña is wearing a suit.
Fuck.
He never dresses like this unless there's a courtroom or a serious meeting with Noonan. It's light in color, almost a frosted beige and it clings.... To everything. The curve of his ass, the tight muscle of his thighs.
You're convinced that you can even see the outline of the thickness between his legs when he twists a certain way. But maybe that's wishful thinking.
You've been doing a lot of that lately. In the month since you first slept with him there has been much thought about Javier Peña's body. Nights spent at home coming with his name huffed under your breath and shame on your cheeks.
But those thoughts are now overshadowed by thoughts of Bradley - Brad- Williams. His beautiful eyes and charming smile.
You showed him around Bogotá last Saturday, introduced him to your favorite food spots and the secret stretch of beach you go to when you're feeling overwhelmed.
It had been so easy, so fun. Brad had made you laugh and when he held your hand it was gentle. You'd spent the entire night waiting for him to kiss you, desperate for his mouth on yours.  But Brad is a gentleman. He doesn't rush things. He kissed the corner of your mouth and said you he wanted to see you again.
He's nothing like Javier Peña.
And now you're here at work, wet and wanting and it's all because of the sloe-eyed DEA agent that's turning his gaze on you.
So while you can help but enjoy the view of Peña in a suit, you can't help but frown when he strides over.
///
"Mind if I use your phone?" he asks lowly, his eyes trailing over you.
You look good this morning, despite the frown. You've started loosening up at work, wearing your hair untied, your blouse not done up all the way to the top button. You seem more relaxed.
Javier thinks he knows why and it makes him drag a hand over his mouth to hide the grin.
"Why can't you use yours?"
"It's busted," Javier lies. He likes being this close to you, desperate to see how you react when he's near.
Before you used to ignore him, ire coming off of you in waves. But now? Now that he's made you come twice at this desk? Now your eyes flutter, your breasts heave. And your mouth? The quick way you bite back at him all flustered? It's so fucking sexy. It makes him hard.
He used to fuck his hand a couple times a week, just enough to make sure he was able to focus. Now though? Now it's daily, sometimes multiple times as he recalls you.
I need it faster. Please, baby?
He must be staring because you've glanced up from your file to glare at him.
"What? Use my phone or get lost."
///
Javier eyes lose that dreamy quality, replaced almost immediately with a glint you know too well. You ignore it, turning your attention back as he punches in the number on the phone.
"Hola," Javier greets. He begins speaking rapidly, his voice quiet and throaty.
You can hear a female voice on the other end of the phone but it's muffled. You don't speak Spanish, so you have no idea what he's saying. It's only when his voice drops that you realize something is off.
"Vas a hacerlo por mí hermosa?" Javier purrs. "Gonna pet her for me?"
Jesus Christ.
Your hand grips the pencil tightly in your fingers. You will the flush from your body and you make the notes in the margins. Small, tight letters.
Gonna pet her for me?
More Spanish, more deep chuckles that you force yourself to ignore, more tight margin notes and then mercifully he's concluded the conversation.
"Sorry," Javier says replacing the phone to its cradle. "Personal call."
It's too much. The thudding between your legs is now overwhelming. You force yourself to swallow, nodding. "Mhmmm."
"Speaking of calls," Javier starts, half sitting on your desk. "That's two wins to your zero, if memory serves."
You pretend you haven't heard him. Your right hand is hurriedly making notes while the left lies next to the page. Javier's fingers trail over your wrist, slipping under and you know he's trying to feel your pulse.
"Should we discuss my prize?"
" Peña -"
"I did your paperwork for a month," Javier tells you, his fingers still on your wrist. "Today marks thirty days. I even dressed up for the occasion."
Jesus, that's why he's wearing the suit?
"And now I want my reward for winning," Javier murmurs with an amused grin. "But I promise you, mine is much more pleasant for both of us."
He removes his hand from your wrist in order to slip a piece of paper over to you at your desk. You don't move to grab it; you just stare at it, your heart hammering.
"My address," he informs you when you make no attempt to open it.
His address to his apartment. The same one you heard him take that prostitute.
"I'm not one of your girls," you hiss at him. "You don't get to tell me where and when and force me to fuck you by saying I owe you."
Javier goes quiet and for the first time you think you see hurt there in his dark eyes. It's blinked away just as fast.
///
He moves to from your desk sharply, suddenly uncomfortable with your close proximity. He throws himself behind his own desk, his face hot.
Force you?
So you really do think that lowly of him. He's never forced a woman to do anything. Suspicions long suppressed pop up, igniting in his chest as he tries not to look at you.
He’d always suspected you thought yourself better than him. But he’d always laughed it off, thought it strangely amusing. Thought you only felt that way because of rumors around the embassy.
He'd thought this whole thing was all in good fun. Teasing and sexy and a way to relax. He'd worn the suit because he was excited. Excited to talk to you about his prize and just excited to talk to you full stop.
When you aren't arguing with him you're making very good points about work. When you're not criticizing him, he finds you funny in a dark, dry way.
And he thought you were actually starting to enjoy his company. Hadn't he made you laugh? Didn't he bring you coffee every morning, one milk two sugars just like you always take it?
Where did things go wrong?
Because you're not smiling. In fact your face is miserable and anxious looking. It makes him wish he'd never started the whole thing in the first place.
There's a knock at the office door.
"Come in," you say with a tremor in your voice. Javier expects Carillo so he's surprised when a tall blonde enters the room.
Brad fucking Williams.
He turns his megawatt smile on you and Javier watches as your face previously pinched and anxious blooms into the most beautiful smile he's ever seen.
"Hi Brad."
"Hi osita," Brad teases.
Javier grits his teeth. That was your inside joke with him, not fucking Brad.
And why do you smile so bright when Brad calls you osita and not Javier? Why does Brad get flushed cheeks with wide smiles and Javier gets nothing but scowls?
Javier forces his attention back to his typewriter, feeding the paper into the roller.
"Hi Javier," Bradley says waving to Peña before striding over to your desk. Javier doesn't even look up but gives a sharp nod.
"Bradley."
Javier's eyes drag from his typewriter over to you. Brad is settled at the edge of your desk, sitting similar to how Peña does when he's irritating you.
"It's nice to see you again," you say with pink cheeks and bright eyes as you gaze up at him.
"Couldn't stay away."
"I'm glad."
Javier feels his eyes widening in shock at the realization of why you're acting like this. Are you still actually trying to flirt with this guy? This bland piece of toast on legs?
You give a small giggle at something Brad murmurs. A sound Javier has never heard from you. Ever. It sounds forced.
Javier scoffs out loud; only aware the sound has carried when he realizes that you're glaring over at him. You turn your attention back to Brad and the smile is back on your face.
"So are you around Friday night?" Brad murmurs. "I wanna pay you back for showing me around on Saturday."
Showing him around on Saturday? What the fresh hell is this? Since when? Is this why you're acting so weird?
"Sure, what did you have in mind?"
"Dinner? Dancing? There's that club everyone talks about here. Gusto I think it's called?"
"Let's do it. Sounds fun."
You nod, tilting forward slightly. When you do this, Javier (and Brad your intended recipient) can see the white lace of your bra peeking out from under your shirt.
Javier's mouth goes dry.
He hates that so much of your body is still left to be explored. To be seen, kneaded, touched, nipped, licked and sucked. And he hates that this giant, blonde bulk of a man standing by your desk is going to be the one to do it. Not Javier.
Fuck this.
///
Dinner and dancing at a club?
You can imagine few things worse.
You hate the pulsing music and dark, alcohol covered floors. You hate the men that grope at you and call you names in Spanish, ugly ones. You hate paying for overpriced drinks that they always mark up as soon as they see you – turista, they whisper.
But Brad is so handsome and sweet and if he wants to go dancing why shouldn't you just suck it up and try to have a good time?
You subtly press your arms together hoping to get Brad's attention that way. So far he's been impossibly gentlemanly, and when you tilt over exposing the lace edges of your bra, he darts his gaze away quickly, his face flushing.
"Fuck this."
You hear the mumble from across the office and you both watch as Javier pushes from his desk with a grunt, striding from the room with his leather jacket under his arm. The door to the office slams behind him.
You shrug, looking up at Brad in confusion. He shrugs back but then becomes emboldened now that it's just the two of you.
"Well, I'm looking forward to Saturday," Brad says, his tongue trailing over his lower lip. "But I don't want to wait until then for this."
His fingers fly to your chin, holding you in place as he lowers his face to yours. You feel the soft graze of his lips against yours and you smile. He's so impossibly gentle, so sweet. And the kiss is just that, gentle and sweet.
He pulls back from you looking shy and smiling. "I hope that was okay?"
"More than okay."
"So, Saturday?"
"Why not tonight?" You offer huskily because at the sensation of Brad's kiss you feel your entire body starting to thrum with anticipation. The arousal pooling between your legs as you stare up at him thinking of all the things you could do tonight.
He could fuck you over your des-
Nope. No no no. Stop that. Plenty of other places to have sex!
Bradley is surprised at your response but he quirks a smile. "Working late for Carillo "
Oh right. People actually work here.
He pushes off your desk, grinning at you. "I'll see you Saturday, osita-"
Osita.
Dark brown eyes flash behind your eyelids.
You wave Brad off, glancing back at your desk and the paper scattered on top of it. Your eyes move guiltily to the files Peña completed for you last night.
Doing your paperwork for a month. Just as what? A bargaining tool? A way to ensure you’ll sleep with him again?
Why can't you stop thinking about Javier? It's not like he's a particularly nice part of your day. It's not like he causes you anything other than grief and frustration.
And yet as the pulsing between your legs continues all you can think of is him and how he wore that suit today. That’s sweet isn’t it? Almost affectionate in a teasing sort of way.
But he was so angry when he left. Confusing you, distracting you. Was he upset by that offhand remark about the prostitutes?
"Why do I care?" You say out loud to yourself.
Who cares if Javier stormed off? Who cares if he had that sad look in his eyes before? Who fucking cares?
You sure don't.
///
Javier Peña’s apartment is a clear reflection of who he is. It's bare, no mementos hung on the walls and most of his items still in boxes. He never unpacked them when he moved here and he doubts he ever will.
His bed is his only luxury, lush with sweet smelling pillows and thick sheets. But he's on the sofa, a blanket from home over his legs and his thoughts on the only two topics that occupy his mind these days.
Capturing Escobar.
And you.
It's weird how much you occupy his thoughts. At first he understood it, this distraction of wanting to fuck you. But now he has and it's still not enough. It's actually worse.
There will always be more to discover in you. New areas of flesh to taste and pinch and kiss. New sounds to draw from you. New positions and places.
Taking Sofia to bed with you listening on the phone had been electric. At first it had been a tease, a way to get under your skin. But the more he'd talked, envisioning she was you, the more he'd wanted it to be you.
When you hadn't hung up, he'd known. You want him just as much as he wants you. So why are you playing coy? Why are you acting like you want that fucking Williams agent with all the charm of a boiled potato?
If you were Javier's girl it wouldn't be dancing at some club. Anyone who has known you five minutes knows how much you hate that shit.
No, it would be dinner in some exotic locale where the two of you would be tucked away together drinking good wine and eating good food. And laughing. He loves making you laugh. Then it would be skinny dipping in the Laguna Chisaca, kissing in the darkness. Then he'd take you home, showering the sand from your bodies together, fucking you there against the tile before taking you to his bed where he'd make you come in any position you wanted as many times as you wanted.
The thought of such an evening has him hard and he's sure his tip is already weeping. Javier resigns himself to another night of self pleasure when there's a knock at the door. It's late, too late for a social call.
He moves to the door and his heart gallops even as he tells himself it can't be you. Maybe it's Murphy or Carillo or-
It's you.
Hair wild and face flushed as you worry your bottom lip. When he fully opens the door and you tilt back to look into his eyes he feels his stomach jump. He affects a casual pose, one forearm on the doorframe as his dark eyes scan your body.
"Osita," he rumbles. "This is a pleasant surprise."
He sees you bristle at the nickname before you're pushing past him into the apartment, as if by doing this you can't back out.
"One last time," you tell him, shrugging off your jacket. "Tonight and then it's done."
Javier watches you toss the jacket onto a chair, your eyes going around to survey his place before landing back on him. He responds with a smirk and a rising brow.
"Better make it count, then."
///
"I'm not saying that."
You shake your head as you take in what he's requested. Your cheeks are burning just at the thought. "When you lost all you had to do was my paperwork."
"For an entire month."
"I'll do yours," you insist, your voice taking on a plaintive edge. "For two months."
"But that's not what I want," Peña says almost laughing at how horrified you look. "I want this."
The two of you are standing in his kitchen. You're holding an empty water glass, glancing around his sparse apartment. Hasn't he lived here for several years?
"How am I supposed to look you in the face after this, Peña?"
Javier's hands are stemmed at his hips and he's giving you an incredulous look.
"You've sucked my cock, let me fuck you bareback and made yourself come at your desk," Peña says with amusement bordering on awe. "And this is what you find embarrassing?"
You know he's right, but in every one of those instances you'd never had to do anything you didn't personally find sexy. This... verbal prompt however? It makes you pull a face.
"It's so . . . weird" you insist.
There are so many worse things Javier could have requested. Javier moves the empty glass from your grip to the table. Then his hand slides along your side, pulling you gently to face him. He tilts forward.
No kissing
You tilt away until his mouth grazes your earlobe.
"Just try it," Javier coos. "That's all I ask."
You take a moment, your eyes flicking over his. He looks so calm, so amused. His dark eyes are simultaneously warm and heated. You take a deep breath nodding. "P-"
"No, not yet," Javier insists in a whisper, his finger coming to press against your lips, stilling them. "I'll let you know when."
You roll your eyes. "Let's do this then."
The smile is still there in his face but his eyes tell the different story. His entire disposition changes and he takes a step back from you.
"I'm not going to force you to do it," Peña says and suddenly that haunted, sad look is back from this afternoon.
"I know," you reply just as quickly. "I know you're not."
"And we don't have to do. .. this " He motions between the two of you. You frown.
"You didn't make me come here tonight. I chose to."
He nods, satisfied that this is cleared up. You extend your hand to him, nodding that you're ready. He smiles that warm, playful smile of his and takes your hand in his. He begins to lead you into the hall.
"Not your bed," you say, your eyes turning pleading when Javier rolls eyes. "It's my only rule for tonight. I promise."
For some reason the thought of doing it in Javier's bed feels too intense, too domestic.
He nods and now guides you to the sofa pressed against the wall. Without pausing he removes his shirt, leaving him shirtless in jeans. You can't help it admire the breadth of his shoulders and the tapering of his waist. He reaches a hand to the belt loop of your skirt, hooking his finger there and tugging you into him.
Your hands fly to his chest for purchase and you marvel at how smooth his skin is, how taut against sinewy muscle.
"You nervous, osita?" He murmurs, his lips brushing against yours so lightly you're not sure it happened. "You're trembling."
You are. You're fucking trembling and he's barely touched you.
Get it together.
You're just so desperate for release after seeing Brad and his sweet mouth and you know that Javier is all tongue and fluid hips. He makes you feel feverish just being this close to him.
"I'm just cold."
"Then let me warm you up."
And now his fingers have come to the buttons of your blouse. He undoes them quickly, his breath growing labored.
Your bra is unremarkable. A simple lace thing that you wear because it doesn't show under your blouse. But when Peña sees it, it's like Christmas come early.
"Always wondered what you wore under there," Peña says softly. Before you can assure him that you have much better under things his mouth is back on yours, his hands dragging down the cups of your bra so he can push you out of it.
Your nipples hit the air; pebbling and you inhale sharply against his mouth. He kneads your tits, tongue laving over your nipples until you're shaking against him.
He looks to your relaxed face and feels his cock being strangled by his jeans
"Want you out of that skirt," he groans. His hand reaches for the zipper at the back but you still him.
"Condom," you remind him. You don't want to start and get carried away. Javier looks confused.
"You're on the pill."
"And I heard you on the phone with that woman," you tell him pointedly. "So condom."
"She was clean," Javier tells you, pouting. "Plus you heard me, I wore one with her."
"After  you'd had quite a bit of fun," you say, tilting your head back. "Condom or I'm leaving, Javier."
Javier sighs heavily through his nose. Regret regret regret. He's going to the clinic tomorrow to prove he's clean. He only wants to fuck you without a condom. He only wants to fuck you.
"Gotta make me hard first," he whispers as if he isn't already well on his way. You can see the bulge in his jeans from here.
Nevertheless you nod, looking thoughtful before moving to the buttons on your blouse and swiftly unbuttoning the rest of them before letting the blouse fall to the floor. Javier watches, still half dressed as you reach behind and remove the clasp of your bra, unhooking and feeling as your breasts are released.
You don't miss the sharp inhale from Javier as he stares. The bra joins the blouse on the floor at your feet, discarded and forgotten. You stand before him in just your skirt.
"Does this help?" You murmur.
"Yes," is his immediate reply. You watch as he fumbles with his jeans button, slipping them down over his narrow hips. Then he's naked and Jesus, he's gorgeous.
You get it.
You get why the women gaze at him when he saunters by. Now that you've been fucked by him, now that you've seen him naked and bronzed and beautiful you get it.
After taking a moment to take in the sight of his unabashed naked frame you stand there before him in only your skirt your own chest heaving in anticipation. You wonder what he sees when he sees you naked. He can't be as struck dumb as you.
You slowly move your hands to cup your breasts, forefinger dragging along the hard nipples. Javier is just standing there open mouthed, staring. You feel antsy and irritated that you're not fucking yet.
"We doing this or not, Peña?"
Javier snaps to as if being woken by a hypnotist. He reaches into the table next to the sofa pulling it the small square foil. Always prepared. The condom is opened, and you watch as Javier moves it around the blushing head of his cock with practiced ease. He does it quickly, well versed, and the sight hits you between the legs.
How does he manage to make that look sexy?"?
"You wanna do the honors?" He quips when he catches you watching him.
He's surprised when you nod, replacing his hand with your own as you roll it down the remaining length of his shaft.  You don't look at his face, can't get stuck in his eyes. You feel your cheeks warming when his thrusts forward in your hands.
"You like my cock, pretty girl?"
You remain silent, sliding the condom down, watching Javier's eyes shutter as it reaches the base of his cock.
"You know the secretary Virginia? She said you were big but I always thought she was exaggerating."
You can see the immediate delight in his face at that. You've finished putting on the condom but it doesn't stop you from gently stroking him through it, fascinated at the feeling of the latex over his stiff cock.
He shudders at the sensation before he takes your hand and leads you to the sofa. He drops down naked, cock poised.
You feel as his hand comes to the zipper at your skirt. He unzips quickly, eager to see more as he pushes it down over your hips.
The skirt pools at your ankles leaving you wearing nothing but the pale blue panties you tossed on fresh from the laundry. In this moment you wish you had chosen something sexier than blue cotton.
Javier says nothing, simply drags his hand over his mouth and murmurs something in Spanish. You curl your fingers over the top of your panties, getting ready to step out of them.
"Slower," Javier tells your hips in a low murmur. He shifts, his arms adjusting over the back of the sofa.
"Striptease wasn't part of the deal," you say embarrassed. It makes you feel too exposed, even in the darkening light of his apartment. "You want a good show; go see one of your girls."
You don't say this with malice, just amusement. You even smile over at him when you do. Javier pulls his heavy gaze from the center of your thighs, creating a scorching trail all the way to your eyes.
"You don't even get it, do you?"
"What?"
"How fucking sexy you are."
You feel your entire body flooding with shy delight at Javier's husky declaration. But you feel too observed, too seen. It makes you feel funny. You want to get this whole thing started.
"Enough," you chide as you quickly strip off your panties and then cover your sex with your hand. Javier looks pained at this, his brows saddling.
"No, baby," Javier croons, pulling your hands away so he can see. "Don't hide -"
"Don't call me that," you snap, hating the newest nickname he’s given you.
Osita. Pretty girl. Well, the latter isn't the worst. But nicknames like baby? Those feel too intimate. Just as if you fucked in his bed. You pull your wrists from his hands. Then the dazed look is gone from Javier's eyes, like he's trying to control himself.
"So, you and Virginia talk about my dick a lot?” Javier asks, prompted by your previous conversation.
"No," you shake your head smirking at him. "I just listen. You have quite the reputation."
Javier chuckles, welcoming you into his lap with outstretched arms. You move into them and his hands slide down your spine, coming to curve around the globes of your ass, urging you down.
You bracket his thighs with your own as you crawl into his lap, your hands going to his shoulders to steady yourself. Your chest is at his mouth level as you do this. Javier tilts his mouth to capture one of your straining nipples, licking and nipping as you let out a sharp intake of breath at the pleasant sensation.
Javier shifts, laying down the length of the sofa. He keeps you balanced on his hips, but you have to grab the back of the sofa with one hand to keep steady. Javier gazes up at you, his head tilted by the arm of the sofa.
"You know what the guys say about you?"
The amusement drops from your face. "Guys talk about me?"
"Last week," Javier tells you, hips shifting as he urges you to sink down his bobbing length. "Haldeman was asking Ortiz who he thought was the most fuckable in the department."
You barely interact with anyone outside your own office. You didn't even think you'd be on their radar.
"Gross."
"You won by a landslide," Javier tells you through a groan as the lips of your pussy circle the head of his cock. You hate that this pleases you in any way. You don't want to think of an office of senior agents talking about wanting to fuck you. It's disgusting and what if Brad heard?
Brad.
You smile as thoughts of Brad's mouth guide your slick cunt down Javier's waiting cock.
Javier lets out a soft hissing noise when you finally slide down his length. He's still so fucking disappointed to be wearing a condom but then you start rocking against him and all the animosity drains from his body because it feels good. Really good.
He watches as your brows knit together when you take him, your mouth hitched. You look fucking gorgeous, sitting there on his hips, his cock buried in you. His hips shift, urging you to rock against him.
"And you know what I was thinking the whole time I was with those agents, osita?"
"Mmm?"
"That I'm the only one who knows what this pussy feels like," Javier grunts, hands on your hips. "The only one who's seen your needy cunt just aching to be filled with my come."
You suppress a low moan. Javier has a way of saying the exact filthy thing that you need to hear. The exact thing to make that pull at your core go deep.
His hands come to grip your tits as you ride him, curving and kneading with his long fingers. Then those digits disappear into his mouth coming out wet and twisting your sensitive nipples as you hiss in pleasure.
You tilt back, taking him deeper. It hits something inside you that blurs your vision. Javier's cock notches so perfectly inside you it makes you whimper, your body jolting at the steady pace he begins.
"Those sounds," Javier groans, his hands spreading over your lower back and guiding you to just the right angle.  His right hand snakes over the crease of your thigh to find your clit flush with his hips. He circles it, tapping and causing a deep tugging sensation at your core. You grunt against him, rolling your hips.
"Take it," Javier urges. "Take it all, pretty girl."
It feels surreal to be riding Javier Peña in his place, on his ugly sofa. Fingers of night creep along the walls of his apartment as headlights pass by, the sound of traffic just outside.
He feels good. That's the thing, just sitting here, pussy swallowing him, Javier feels good. One of your hands is still on the back of the sofa, keeping you balanced as you begin to shift over him. The other covers his hand on your hips, nudging you to and fro.
You rock against each other slowly, languidly. Javier is so good at it, touching and circling your clit just enough before ebbing away, bringing you so close and then taking you to a deeper pleasure. You don’t know how long this goes on before the tension is back, your focus stuck on making sure he comes.
This is Javier’s reward, his prize and you don't mind him taking it.  You still feel terrible about what you said before.
"No," Javier admonishes gently.
Your eyes fly open to see him frowning up at you. "What?"
Javier looks at your face concerned before his hand takes yours and pries it from the sofa back. He guides you by the wrist to his chest.
"Put your hands here. Both of them."
You look at him strangely, leaning slightly forward to place both your hands palm down on his pectorals. His broad chest flexes under your touch.
"Lean forward.”
You do, confused as to what this is all about when your body tilts and he shifts his hips up. Suddenly you're hitting him at a new angle. A new angle that feels really fucking good.
"F-Fuck!"
"There she is," Peña smiles up at you when your eyes shut, pleasure overtaking your body at the sensation. "I need you feeling good."
You do. It feels really really good to roll your hips over his, to take him deep and to just enjoy it. There will be no further bet, no further prize so you can just enjoy this night.
"Gonna bounce on it, osita?"
He asks it like a question, even lifts his brows but it's no inquiry. He's already started thrusting up and down, delighted with you when you nod. You lift your hips up, circling and then slowly starting to bounce against his hips, sliding along his pistoning cock.
"So pretty," Javier coos as you take him. "Such a pretty girl riding me."
Your palms are still on his chest, your head pitched forward as you bounce. You feel your arousal dripping down his cock as he fucks you.
"So fucking wet," Javier says in a voice of soft awe. "Are you close?"
Something in the surprise of his tone makes you feel embarrassed, like you shouldn't already be so close. You go to tilt your face away from him but his hands are coming to move the hair from your face, cupping your cheeks almost affectionately if you didn't know him better.
"Don't be shy," he commands, and you nod. His hands slide over your breasts again, thumbs grazing over those straining nubs. "Doing so good, pretty girl."
It feels so good like this, so perfect that he's calling you pretty girl and how his teeth grit when he’s grunting up, fucking you. His dark eyes are heavy lidded, and the sight turns you on more than you comprehend and now it's starting; that impossibly good feeling that borders on desperation. The fervent need to climax but not rush things that makes you whimper out short little whines as you rock against him.
"I know," Javier soothes, as if this is painful for you. "I know, baby. Gonna feel so good so soon. Gonna make you feel so fucking good."
You're having a hard time focusing on anything anymore. The fact that he's called you baby, the sweetness to his tone. All overlooked as you chase your climax.
His thumb is circling your clit again as he's thrusting up into you, his hand on your thigh and you can feel yourself getting so fucking close. You just need a little more pressure and it'll feel so good. You're so close. You start chanting under your breath.
"More .. More...."
Javier can see your slackened jaw, the way your eyes are rolling into the back of your head and he knows you're close. You move lazily, feeling absolutely wrecked already. Peña does his best not to grin up at you. You’ll take it for mockery when its anything but.
"I wanna give you more, but you need to give me what I asked for," Javier tells you in the voice of a gentle teacher. "Remember?"
The rhythm is slowing, his hips formerly bouncing you up and down on his cock now barely move. He's waiting, looking up at you expectantly. You growl down at him exasperatedly. Javier just smiles up at you in response, the grin now full of gentle teasing. He wonders if you're actually going to say it.
It's all he wants, just to make you say it so that you'll begin blushing the entire length of your body.
It's amusement really, something to tease you about later. He loves how you look when you're angry with him; all pink cheeks and bright eyes.
He knows you hate nicknames and this one in particular. And that's exactly why he picked it as his prize.
You'd been matched with Javier early on in your position at the embassy and instructed to go on a ride along with him one morning. The object of the ride along was to get information from a new intel from a woman that just so happened to be from Peña's favorite cat house.
From the minute he'd entered the brothel before you, you'd heard nothing but an onslaught of the term from the women flocking around their favorite DEA agent/customer. Beautiful women swarmed him, some pressing kisses to his cheek, others simply smiling at him.
Javier had smiled crookedly each time he caught you rolling your eyes when the term came up. You told him later it was disgusting. He'd just laughed.
"C'mon, pretty girl."
He shifts his hips to slowly circle out of you before thrusting brutally back inside. As his cock grazes your clit in the ascent you give a needful yelp
"Give it to me."
He sees the way you steel yourself, the way you try to focus even though Javier can see you sliding your hips up and down him the best you can until you finally groan.
"Si...papi."
The second he hears it, the honorific you'd been avoiding, he smiles widely. He can see how red you've gotten and you're rewarded with your hips being pulled viciously against Peña's as he fucks you again in earnest.
"Yes," you groan out.
It feels so good. He hits so deep. Your tits bounce heavily as he thrusts up into you, holding you by the waist so he can drive himself into that sweet spot you can never reach yourself.
"So good," you're moaning without even thinking about it.
"So fucking good," Javier reaffirms. "Taking papi's cock so well."
Javier looks forward to brushing by you at work, pretending to grab a coffee or a file just so he can lower his mouth to your ear and ask in the lowest voice he can manage if you've "been good for papi?' he can't wait to see you get flustered at work.
You suddenly toss your hair from your face, biting your lower lip and looking so fucking good as you move against him.
"More," you moan, your hands over his that hold your hips. "Please papi, more."
The amusement drains from Peña's gaze as you thrust your hips against his. You're so needy, so desperate and you say the word like it was meant for Javier alone. Peña never expected you to be into the whole 'papi' thing. The last thing he'd expected was for you to gaze down at him, still bouncing, and say it again.
"Fuck," he growls, his hands on your hips thrusting you further and faster along his cock. You're so wet you can take him even deeper without trying. "Say it again."
He knows you're emboldened by his own delighted reaction and this turns him on even more. You're turned on because he's turned on. You're smiling down at him, your body warm and rolling against his.
"Need your big cock, papi," you cry out, no longer inhibited. "Fuck me deep, please."
Javier can tell now that you're actually into it. The way your pupils have blown wide. Or maybe it's how you can see that Javier likes it and his arousal is turning you on.
Suddenly he needs to hold you to him, to feel your entire body warm in his arms.
He shifts you until his spine is against the back of the sofa and you're sitting in his lap, still rocking as he wraps his arms around you, banding against your lower back. Your eyes are unfocused, your body movements have become slow and lazy.
She's drunk on my cock, Javier thinks smugly, his mouth goes to your neck, pressing damp kisses there before pulling back, still rocking into you.
"Is my girl feeling good?"
"Mmm so good, baby," you slur not thinking, your forehead pressing against his as your hips roll. Javier lets out a strangled noise as his cock drives deeper in and out, in and out.
He urges your mouth to his and in the heat of the moment you eagerly kiss him back, all rules forgotten. His lips are so full and soft and when he kisses you, you're convinced you feel it everywhere. You let yourself surrender, your eyes closed as he kisses you deeply, licking into your mouth.
"You have no idea how fucking sexy you sound," Javier tells you between kisses. "So fucking sexy bouncing on my cock and calling me that."
You smile, preening under the praise. Pleasure just keeps rippling through you like tiny little massages everywhere. You feel sleepy but in the best possible way. It makes you want to be nice and soft for him.
"I like making you feel good," you murmur serenely.
He licks into your mouth once more and is rewarded with a soft sigh from you and your arms wrapping around his neck to hold him close.
"Gonna come for me pretty girl?" Javier asks, his hands skimming all over your back before pulling you tightly against him.
"Wanna come for you," you tell him, your temple against his. Javier feels his hips stutter and decides to press his luck.
"Am I making you feel good, baby?"
"Mhmmm."
"You like fucking me don't you?"
"Yes, Javi," you gasp before you kiss him again, your mind full of everything and nothing all at once.
Your arms are around his shoulders and you must have done something right because you hear the moan ripped from him and feel him empty into the condom.
You follow in quick succession, grunting and rutting against him calling his name as you come, falling against his shoulder as you do.
///
Moments span, liquid time where everything feels hazy and sluggish. Moments spent with your forehead on Javier's shoulder while he breathes in the crook of your neck.
This is when your arms should drop from around his neck and his from around your waist, but they don't. You continue straddling him as he softens, your body
"Fuck it's freezing," you finally say shivering. Javier smirks, reaching to the far back of the sofa and bringing the crochet flower blanket his mother made for him as a child around your shoulders.
He wraps you in it, only your face peeking out at him as you continue to sit straddling his lap. You give a yawn, drawing an indulgent smile from him.
"Sleepy?"
"Mhmm."
"Just rest."
You're too tired to fight him on it. Too tired to tell him it's too intimate. He shifts until he's laying down the length of the sofa, bringing you with him in his arms. You nestle in his arms, tucked up with the blanket over both of you. You roll to your side, your hand going over his sternum.
Your eyes are shuttering closed, feeling the steady beat of his hearts dance under your fingertips. His large hand covers yours there.
"I'm sorry," you whisper.
"What for?" Javier asks sleepily, his eyes closed. You realize he must be drifting off as well.
"The thing I said about you forcing me. I know you'd never force me or anyone into bed with you. It was a shitty thing to say."
"You were just living up to your nickname," Javier smirks, his hand stroking yours over his chest. "Looks sweet but oh, that bite, osita"
He tries to keep it light. He has no desire to make you feel shitty right now. Not after such a great night.
"Javier."
Javier cracks open an eye to look at you. You so rarely use his first name. You're propped up on his shoulder, your hand on his sternum.
"Mmm?"
You give him a level stare, urging him to truly listen.
"I'm sorry."
The amusement is gone now, leaving only dark-eyed vulnerability in Peña. The kind you saw when he left your desk earlier that day. Your eyes swim over each other's and Peña can't help but trace a knuckle over your cheek before he nods.
"I know, baby."
It slips out of him, the muttered term of endearment. But you don't flinch or cringe from him this time. You just nod, your head tilted back down.
"Wake me up in an hour," you tell him sleepily. "I'll leave then. I just need a quick nap."
Javier murmurs something against the crown of your head but you're already asleep.
///
It's light when you wake up. Well past an hour has passed because it's clearly almost morning. The early sounds of Bogotá are outside the window. You hold in a groan.
Thanks a lot Peña.
Javier holds you tightly in his arms; his breathing huffed over your cheeks. In your sleep your bodies have both found refuge under the blanket together, legs entwined. He's hard against you, morning arousal nothing new to you and you ignore it, casting a sleepy look at your colleague.
His face is relaxed, his full lips parted as he breathes slow and even. You're shocked at how sweet he looks when his face is unguarded. No sneers or smirks, just sweet unguarded Javier.
You feel a strange pull, a slight feeling of affection. Maybe he's not as annoying as you always thought.
A still very sleepy part of you considers waking him up, urging him onto his back so you can fuck again but really slow.
You inch back off the sofa and out of his arms, pulling on your clothes scattered nearby. When you're dressed and your purse is over your shoulder you stop by the sofa. You don't know why, what compels you to do so. But you take a moment to stare down at Javier's sleeping face one last time.
His mouth is so impossibly pouty, so plump. His dark lashes fan out over his cheeks. His hair is tousled from sleep. He's so pretty. You can't stop yourself from bending down and pressing your lips against his gently, marvelling at how soft and warm they feel against yours. Quickly you pull back, sure not to rouse him.You leave, trying to keep the sound of the closing door behind you as quiet as possible.
As soon as the door closes, a very awake Javier opens his eyes.

The Sign - Ep 1
Ok, but The Sign has everything I like (at least for now):
coherent plot
good pacing and editing
good acting
great chemistry, relationship, interactions, scenes of the main couple
the actors and the plot sell me the romance
I support the main couple, I am so invested in their romance and story
both main actors and both characters are EQUALLY interesting and attractive to me, this is unfortunately very rare in my case
novelty of the story, unusual for BL series main couple, more reminiscent of Manner of Death than traditional BL
authentic, effortless sexiness of the romance, scenes, characters and actors
very good side characters
a well-shown "men's world" with everything: competition, proving one's worth and masculinity, cockiness, silly conversations, jokes about sex, making fun of each other, but also brotherly bonds and supporting each other
already in the first episode we have so much of good stuff: a romance between interesting guys, a whole lot of other relationships, a truly repulsive villain, a murder, mystery and fantasy. As if the series was specially created for me 😍
good balance between fun, humor, silly tropes like falling with a kiss or running away holding hands 😆, and serious scenes. The funny scenes don't overshadow/ruin the serious scenes, which unfortunately happens all the fucking time in other series
this is the third series recently with virginity discussed and the first in which a person who has not yet had a sexual debut is 1) not forced to do so, 2) not ridiculed, comments are limited to light teasing, 3) Tharn is simply asked about it and he has a chance to say why and is heard without judgment
I like literally everything
Chart is an extremely bad character, at first I hated him because I was programmed that way by ThanType. But no, he deserves complete contempt, and no Tharn, he is not a good cop and never will be, this man should be eliminated from the cop selection at this stage, he will get people killed.
Did the murder actually happen? Is this maybe one of the training sessions like we thought they were actually freeing the hostage at the beginning of the episode? 🤔🤡
Anyway, give me Billy, an equally lovely and cool actor to match, a compelling love story, a water dragon and I'll be fed with it for weeks. (also, the scene in the bathroom when Tharn reacts to Phaya's voice, the hug from behind is, I'm sorry, I don't want to offend fans of other series at all! but it is hotter than other high-heat series currently airing. Heh! even the way Tharn looks at Phaya's hand on his shoulder was hotter to me than the entire last episode of Playboyy, sorry, it's not a diss, Playboyy is fun! but, well, that's just how I feel 😉)
This is my fav series currently airing 💖💖💖💖💖

Okay so I will ADMIT that A Boss and a Babe was kind of a mess in the back half, plot-wise. What's most frustrating is that with a few fairly minor changes it could have all flowed together fine and not required this sad little disclaimer in front of what's about to be a post full of praise.
BECAUSE
I don't know what to tell y'all, I still love this show very very much. Looking back at my notes from the GMMTV 2023 showcase, this is one I wasn't even planning to watch, because it looked super cutesy and I'm bored by the "cold-hearted boss meets sunshine employee, learns how to smile" trope. I don't remember what got me to try it after all, but I can tell you the exact moment I really sat up and took notice: it was near the end of ep 1, when they do a classic "bump into you at the door and you half-fall into my arms" bit. Cher's eyes in that moment are doing SO much - there's the comic shock you expect, but underneath there's this startled vulnerability and a bit of awareness that falls just shy of arousal. I was intrigued.
Book as Cher was giving a layered performance from the beginning, making it clear that there's a lot more going on than just a chipper intern, and as the series progresses we get to see how much darkness he's covering with that upbeat energy. The script wobbles but his performance, and the full sense of Cher as a person, stays on point and rock-solid throughout. He's one of my favorite characters to come out of this year so far, and that's a highly competitive field.
Gun balances Cher perfectly. He was never cold-hearted, just sad and lonely and resigned to staying that way. It's Cher's relentless optimism that wakes him up to the possibility of happiness, but once he's awake it's his steady certainty that becomes an anchor against all Cher's anxieties. He's older, he's experienced, he knows himself and what he wants, and that enables him to make space for Cher to run in circles until he can finally settle down by Gun's side. I've talked before about how their dynamic feels like dancing, and I stand by that, even if the writing of the final third took them through some unnecessarily convoluted steps.
Some BLs are just romances that happen to be about two boys, and some feel distinctly queer, and ABAAB is the latter. Gun and Cher are both recognizable types: the older sadder gay man who holds himself back from life because he's learned to expect loss, and the staunch "ally" who hasn't yet clocked his own bisexuality. And then there are the side characters: Three and Zo, a longterm happy couple who act as a model for what Gun and Cher can hope for, and Porsche, the ex-turned-best-friend. When I talk about recognizable types... the ex to bestie pipeline is SO REAL in queer circles and you never see it in dramas. Porsche's whole introductory scene had me crowing with delight. (I also loved the implication that Porsche and his new boyfriend have some kind of open situation, and that his and Gun's different feelings on exclusivity were one reason they broke up. Again, SUCH a real dynamic.)
What can I say? My love for the characters and relationships is big enough to overshadow most of the plot problems: I really loved this show. It made me happy (almost) every week, and it's going on my rewatch rotation for any time I want to smile.

Professor Anon back here again with a hypothetical analysis on why Viv’s liking tweets that say to credit and congratulate her, Hazbin, and Helluva for The Amazing Digital Circus’s recent milestones:
TADC’s success across the internet is almost undeniable at this point, having reached tens of millions of views in the span of less than a month. And those tens of millions have pretty much eclipsed Helluva Boss in terms of viewership alone, and if this pattern continues, might go on to eventually overshadow Hazbin Hotel’s pilot episode. In simpler terms, Something new, something that Vivienne did not have any part in, is starting to gain the popularity she once had.
And this cannot happen, in both her eyes and her fans’. You see, to them, indie animation isn’t a competition… until something starts to threaten her spot as ruler of the indie animation scene. Seeing something else revel in the spotlight that she once had while people begin to pay attention to her work less and less is completely unacceptable. She needs to be in the Internet’s eye, she needs to be number one. And that’s where the tweets come in.
Those tweets made by her fans saying that she is the reason The Amazing Digital Circus’s accomplishments give her something that she has slowly been losing over the course of time: Relevance and Importance. She is not the queen of the indie animation industry anymore, and these tweets are essentially telling her otherwise, reassuring her that “Hey, this thing might be more popular than I ever was, but it’s all because of me. I’m the reason it is where it is today. By praising this new thing, you are in turn praising me.” She can’t be supportive of a successful project unless it’s success somehow leads back to her in any way. Because something becoming successful without her involvement would mean that she’s no longer the one on top…
And that can never be the case to her.
This has been another analysis and evaluation by Professor Anon. Have a good day everyone.
Another excellent presentation by Professor Anon!
It's true, one thing people on the outside don't realize about Vivzie is just how much she cannot stand success she has no part in, even if she does have a part in it because it's linked to her own show. It's why she came to hate HuniCast and Ashley, why she went off on the Instagram accounts, and why a couple of other things happened that are still behind the scenes -- because people liked them and she couldn't handle that.

NDRV3 Characters with DRDT Talents
Korekiyo Shinguuji, Ultimate Lucky Student
(Having been cursed with bad luck his whole life, as an abandoned orphan, Korekiyo finds fascination in the idea and concept of luck, considering it "beautiful". This causes him to be seen as unnerving by others, in spite of his otherwise affable personality. With his massive collection of lucky charms on his person, Korekiyo is determined to turn his bad luck around, survive the killing game, and find his missing sister.)
Kokichi Ouma, Ultimate Clockmaker
(This enigmatic young lad, in spite of his immature appearance and personality, is a prodigy when it comes to handcrafting only the most intricate of clocks. His appearance and personality also belies a conniving chronic liar, who speaks entirely in clock and time-related metaphors and seems intent on toying with and confusing his fellow classmates.)
Maki Harukawa, Ultimate Plastic Surgeon
(While a master in all matters of surgical procedures, Maki seems to specialize in cosmetic surgeries for a massive number of celebrities. In spite of this, Maki claims to dislike performing surgery and can't stand the self-centered attitudes of the people she performs her surgeries on. Both in and out of the operating room, Maki is cold and aloof, not willing to engage in small talk.)
Kirumi Tojo, Ultimate Personal Stylist
(Famous for her attractive appearance and gothic punk fashion, all the spikes and leather belie a loyal and kind-hearted woman. If one wishes to improve their wardrobe, Kirumi will always be there to help, with her knowledge on all matters fashion. However, while she may normally be passive and obedient, let's just say that this leather hides silk, which also hides steel.)
Rantaro Amami, Ultimate Zither Player
(While infamous for his travels and the wealthy family that he is a part of, Rantaro is even more famous for his innate talent in playing the many instruments of the zither family. Rantaro is known amongst the class for his bountiful wisdom, his coolheadedness, and his attractive appearance. Having 12 younger sisters back home, Rantaro appears to have a brotherly instinct, when it comes to a couple of people in his class.)
Shuichi Saihara, Ultimate Effects Artist
(As the son of a famous actor and screenwriter, it was only natural that Shuichi would be an expert on the ins and outs of the film industry, although his main speciality is in special effects. In spite of his status as a blueblooded prodigy, Shuichi is also extraordinarily humble and timid, possibly due to all the hotshot actors overshadowing him.)
Kaede Akamatsu, Ultimate Jockey
(Having a love for horses since she was young, Kaede won many horse-racing competitions and always has a spot in her heart for all of her horses. Cheerful and energetic even off the track, in spite of her legions of fans, Kaede is also rather socially-inept, spending more time with horses than with actual people.)
Himiko Yumeno, Ultimate Matchmaker
(Referring to herself as the "Ultimate Cupid" and fashioning herself in a similar manner, if Himiko senses the right chemistry between two people, they would be destined to be happy together. Outside of romantic pursuits however, in which case she becomes extremely conniving and ambitious, Himiko is incredibly lazy and would only ever put in the absolute minimum effort, if asked to do something.)
Gonta Gokuhara, Ultimate Horror Fanatic
(Having been raised away from civilization by a bunch of eldritch horrors, Gonta is an expert when it comes to all matters horror. He is very enthusiastic when it comes to the topic of horror, and would love to talk at lengths about them. In spite of his creepy fascination and bad tendency to psychoanalyze, Gonta prides himself on being a kindhearted "gentleman" to everybody.)
Ryoma Hoshi, Ultimate Student
(Truly an academic role model in every sense of the word, Ryoma is renowned throughout his school for topping academic charts and being diligent towards his studies, and always being eager to assist other people. He is even a star member of his school's tennis club. According to some unreliable sources, though, Ryoma is more lazy and pessimistic than what his public appearance would seem.)
Miu Iruma, Ultimate Chemist
(Specializing in the studies of pheromones and aphrodisiacs, Miu is about as perverted and bawdy as one would expect from someone with that line of study. In addition to her sex-laden speech, Miu is also highly proud of her intellect and appearance, and is always ready to put down other people for their perceived lack of intelligence/beauty. Unless they talk back to her...)
Tsumugi Shirogane, Ultimate Pet Therapist
(Garnering fame in her hometown for being able to rehabilitate and reason with even the most disobedient of pets, it is often rumored that Tsumugi has the ability to speak to animals, something that she would neither confirm nor deny. Generally preferring the company of animals to people, Tsumugi always tries her best to blend in to the background and seem as "plain" or "unnoticeable" as possible.)
Kiibo Iidabashi, Ultimate Bowler
(Raised by a former bowling champion, it didn't take long for Kiibo to pick up their father's craft with ease, eventually joining the best bowling league in the country. Having spent a good portion of his life having their favorite sport be belittled and mocked, Kiibo is notably sensitive and overprotective, when it comes to the topic of their talent. Apart from that, they remain kind and cheerful.)
Kaito Momota, Ultimate Art Forger
(Despite referring to himself as the "Modern Day Da Vinci" and being genuinely talented at all artistic pursuits, Kaito's talent is one of the more sketchy and morally ambiguous of his class. Having been exposed for his forgery by the authorities, Kaito seeks to turn over a new leaf and remake himself with a brand-new heroic image and persona, seeking to restore the rapidly-disappearing art of the past.)
Tenko Chabashira, Ultimate Rebel
(Standing up for the rights of women everywhere, Tenko wants nothing more than to dismantle the patriarchy hanging over the heads of innocent women everywhere. Tenko is also well-known for her contributions towards the lesbian/trixic community, garnering a reputation as a lesbian icon. Ignoring her vilurant hatred of men, especially male authority figures, Tenko is cheerful and warmhearted.)
Angie Yonaga, Ultimate Inspirational Speaker
(Traveling all over the country to spread her motivational speeches to as many people as possibly, Angie greets every day with a bright smile and a blessing being made towards Atua, while encouraging others to do the same. In spite of her title being "inspirational speaker", it wouldn't too far off to call her a "preacher" or a "missionary" with how dedicated she towards Atua's word.)
Miyadera Shinguuji, Ultimate ???
(???)
Had this AU in my mind for quite some time now, and I'd love to hear any thoughts on it.

genre savvy total drama contestant who, in their infinite genius, orchestrates their own enemies-to-lovers plotline in an attempt to stay plot relevant enough to make it to the finals.
they spend the first couple of challenges picking out their 'enemy' from the crowd, then approach them quietly to avoid the others' suspicions (and the cameras too) suggesting their plan.
"listen, the two most popular total drama couples? duncney and aleheather. both enemies to lovers, and both couples made it super far into the competition. this is a reality tv show, as long as we're entertaining enough we're guaranteed a spot in the merge at least, and nothing engages the viewers more than a 'will they won't they' dynamic. we'll be ratings gold!"
"alright, but why me? i don't hate you."
"i don't hate you either. in fact, i think you're pretty cool. it doesn't have to be a real rivalry, it's all an act. but if we can keep up the act for long enough, our 'rivalry' can evolve into something more, if you catch my drift. the plotline practically writes itself... plus, it'd be pretty funny to pretend to hate each other, right?"
"hmm. you make a good point. how can you guarantee we'll both make it to the merge?"
"that's down to the network. and, i guess, how well we sell ourselves to the audience. that's why i'm thinking enemies-to-lovers; it's compelling and marketable and people eat it up every time. the execs would never let two of their biggest audience retention generators leave the show too early."
"what about the lovers part? i barely even know you, and you want us to pretend to fall in love?"
"eh, semantics. how hard could it be? holding hands, long romantic walks across the beach. i know how to stage kiss, if that's an issue!"
also the genre savvy character is aroace, but their commitment to the plan overshadows their personal misgivings in faking their enamourment.

“Royal Romance or Rigged Competition? Questions Surround Stacy's Victory in International Baking Competition"
In a shocking turn of events, the Belgravia’s annual 56th International Baking Competition has become embroiled in controversy as the public cast doubt on the legitimacy of Stacy De Novo’s victory, raising questions about the timing of Prince Edward's romantic involvement with the competition winner.
Adding fuel to the fire, former competitor Briana Michaels stepped forward with a statement questioning the authenticity of Stacy's victory. Michaels, known for her sharp tongue and competitive spirit, expressed skepticism regarding the judging process and hinted at potential biases that may have influenced the outcome.
The article goes on to detail the timeline of events, highlighting the serendipitous nature of Prince Edward's attendance at the competition and the subsequent blossoming of his romance with Ms. De Novo, the now fiancée of Prince Edward Wyndham.
Despite attempts to reach Stacy and Prince Edward for comment, both parties have remained tight-lipped in the face of mounting scrutiny. The silence from the couple only serves to fuel speculation, as the tabloid continues to churn out salacious headlines and sensationalized narratives in its relentless pursuit of scandal.
Queen Caroline closed the tabloid harshly. “What a load of nonsense.” she scoffs.
“Your Majesty, with all due respect, staying silent on this matter may not be in our best interest, especially with the royal wedding looming on the horizon,” Amelie interjects respectfully, her tone firm yet deferential.
Queen Caroline, her expression grave, considers Amelie’s words carefully before responding. “I understand your concern, Amelie, but engaging with the tabloids will only fan the flames of speculation. We mustn’t give credence to baseless accusations.”
Amelie, undeterred, leans forward, her gaze unwavering. “Your Majesty, respectfully, silence may be interpreted as guilt. We cannot afford to let these rumors undermine Stacy’s reputation or the integrity of the upcoming royal wedding.”
The queen’s brow furrows as she contemplates Amelie’s words, the weight of responsibility evident in her demeanor. After a moment of contemplation, she sighs softly. “You make a valid point, Amelie. We cannot allow these rumors to tarnish Stacy’s honor or overshadow the joyous occasion of the royal wedding.”
With a decisive nod, Queen Caroline instructs, “Prepare a statement addressing the allegations. We will address them head-on, with dignity and grace. It’s time to set the record straight and uphold the integrity of both Stacy’s victory and the forthcoming royal union.”
As Amelie headed out to leave, it was the queen’s compliment that stopped her tracks.
“Its quite rare to see this side of you, Amelie. I see that spending time under the future crown princess’s service did wonders after all.”
Amelie pauses and her eyes soften at the unexpected compliment. “Miss De Novo deserves the world. “She smiles softly before composing herself. “If you may excuse me, Your Majesty. I’ll produce a well crafted statement and will pass it on to the communications team as soon as i can.”

A cautious case for Star Peace
Earlier in the season I expressed dismay at the telegraphing of what I would consider to be a bad, even irresponsible war story featuring the Gorn in Strange New Worlds.
It may surprise the reader that after the season finale, I remain at Yellow Alert, but I see signs that my worst case scenario is not what is going to unfold. Spoilers after the jump.
For starters I will acknowledge there are apparently troubling comments about the intention behind the Gorn from the showrunners. Some of these comments are being taken out of context, because they don't fully rule out the idea of an accommodation with the Gorn, but they do have to first play out their role as series antagonists.
Many bits have been spilled over the idea of a villain who is genetically predisposed towards being incapable of empathy and the implication that, not unlike the Xenomorphs that the showrunners are explicitly borrowing from, there is ultimately no solution but a final one. A grim argument that even in a setting prefigured for idealism and the rejection of xenophobia and violence as being preferred, there are some gulfs that can't be bridged. Some peoples whose needs are so profoundly in conflict that there can be no lasting peace.
I think this episode is actually subverting that in not even all that subtle ways that many a web-pundit are missing or dismissing.
To recap, here are some blink or you'll miss it Chekov's phasers that I think will be firing if not in the season premiere then later on in the series.
Juvenile Gorn who are forming packs and cooperating instead of fighting to the death. This was a moderately significant plot point from the last time we saw the Gorn that probably got overshadowed by the episode's tragic ending.
In spite of his tough talk to April, later in the episode after being reunited with Batel, Pike wearily expresses a hope that maybe there's something everyone missed, some way of achieving a breakthrough.
The Gorn juvenile not harming Batel could be read a couple of ways. Either its just a way to telegraph her infection, or its another curious behavior. I honestly do not remember if the Gorn from season one was ever in a position to confront Hemmer and then back down. It seems like if the juveniles are known to fight to the death, its not unreasonable to assume they would normally view a host carrying eggs as competition.
Batel's rescue positions her for Chapel and M'Benga to "science the Bantha poodoo" out of the Gorn egg problem and in the process, learn something critical about the Gorn that might lead to a more peaceful coexistence. Some sort of pheromone that makes Humans read as friends not food, or even the potential to raise Gorn young with a different socialization, proving that heredity isn't destiny.
The abduction of the crew from the planet also seems significant for reasons beyond needing to set up a cliffhanger. This too will provide an opportunity to add complexity and nuance to the Gorn. Perhaps we'll learn they're not actually a single hat species and there are dissidents, pacifists, those who seek to live sustainably and manage their reproduction in a way that doesn't rely on coercion or the violation of others' right to live?
At least some of the Gorn's behavior is apparently tied to solar activity. Although its still squicky from a Doylist standpoint, a Watsonian excuse that external factors flipped the switch on the Gorn and make them go berserk does open the door to analogies to circumstantial hysteria in humans.
Bonus: There have been multiple episodes this season around the theme of biology not being destiny: Una's court marshal for being a closeted Illyrian and La'an carrying the weight of the name Noonien Singh.
Additionally there have been a couple of episodes about the struggle to maintain peace with the Klingons and overcome the trauma and paranoia that follows war (and often incites new ones.) This doesn't feel like the show to leave "nuke the site from orbit, its the only way to be sure" as its only option for dealing with the Gorn in perpetuity.
So there you have it, I'm cautiously optimistic that we could see a shift from inscrutable killing machines to fully developed civilization in the span of a season or two. Emphasis on the cautiously. This franchise has set conditions under which attempted genocide, narrowly averted, is the only way to resolve the conflict on far too many occasions.

"¹You'll never be Gwyneth Paltrow — sorry Meghan Markle... & ²Meghan Markle’s participation trophy case is starting to fill up."
Tumblr media
Goopsie Daisy🤭
"Unlike many celebrities — ahem, the Kardashians — who are full of fillers, Ozempic and  bulls – – t, Paltrow is transparent about the ridiculous measures required to look like her. Her gaunt cheekbones are earned, not excavated by a plastic surgeon.
She’s also no Meghan Markle with her Tig — a pre-Prince Harry lifestyle blog 🤭🤭🤭🤭— which reportedly will be reincarnated to be a Goop knockoff.
Markle cries victim from her Montecito manse and has a “strange relationship to objective reality,”🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭 according to a reporter, while other accounts have debunked her rags-to-riches story"

²Lying Meghan Markle shouldn’t be celebrated — sorry, Gloria Steinem
Kirsten Fleming April 4, 2023
Meghan Markle’s participation trophy case is starting to fill up.
It was announced Monday that she’ll receive the 2023 Women of Vision award from famed feminist Gloria Steinem next month.
Perhaps the committee behind the Women of Vision could benefit from a trip to the optometrist.
According to a new tax filing made public last week, Markle and her trauma-loving husband each put in only one documented hour of work a week for their Archewell Foundation in 2021.
That’s 52 hours a year on the books — the equivalent of one episode of “General Hospital” per week.
No, “She Works Hard for the Money” will not be the duchess’s walk-up anthem.
And for her all grit and toil, she’s getting a gala full of self-important, self-congratulatory virtue signalers to throw roses at her feet.
Markle — who never misses an opportunity to share her victimhood bona fides — is living the dream in Montecito, Calif. But the only work the “privacy”-obsessed Sussexes are doing is peddling family secrets to streaming services.
Great country, this America. The award comes courtesy of the Ms. Foundation, a Brooklyn-based organization which called Markle a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity and global role model.”
Well, she did write inspirational messages on bananas for sex workers.
And she used her 2019 trip to Africa to bemoan her VIP lot in life: She was “existing, not living,” she said, adding, “not many people have asked if I’m OK.”
As a working royal, she made sartorial sacrifices: wearing neutral colors lest she overshadow those higher on the Windsor food chain.
She can put the newest trophy between her Gracie Award for her Archetypes podcast and the Ripple of Hope honors she and Harry received in December for exposing structural racism within the royal family, according to Kerry Kennedy.emember that brave Oprah interview where she accused an unnamed family member of commenting on how dark Archie’s skin would be?
During his media tour for “Spare,” Harry denied calling his family racist, saying: “No, I didn’t. The British press said that. Did Meghan ever mention that they’re racist?”
Maybe she didn’t use the r-word, but her comments virtually set the palace afire — and secured the couple a spot on the red carpet to be fêted by emcee Alec Baldwin, whose Massachusetts-born wife still insists she’s Spanish.
Meghan is, however, well deserving of a Whopper Award for her numerous royal tall tales, including gushing to the Cut that a South African cast member of “The Lion King” compared her to Nelson Mandela. He said, ‘I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison,'” she told the mag.
Of course, the only South African male in the show called the claims “baffling.”
Then there’s the bizarre story she told Oprah about marrying Harry in secret before her fairy tale wedding, which the Archbishop of Canterbury categorically denied.
And she has no competition for this year’s Wah Award bestowed upon the whiniest in the land. The Wah Academy couldn’t ignore her inspiring whingefest about the indignity of being a suitcase girl on “Deal or No Deal” on her podcast.
We all know these honors are empty accolades meant to sell tickets to pricey dinners, raise funds and profiles. But in a time that has been so consequential for females — the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the inability of officials to actually define a woman and biological men invading women’s sports — perhaps there’s another lady who is more deserving.
Maybe one who punched in more than an hour’s work. But the schlubs who do the real heavy lifting in life never get the credit.
