Scatterbrained day update (you get no colours, I'm tired)

Okay so, mY day, was extensive. Idk. I wanna post abt something and Bleed said to post about my day <3 I got up at 1pm which is normal to a point, school starts next week, I want to start a project, either for myself or Tumblr? I don't know, it's horrifying. I got angry, played Ensemble Stars (add me, my code is 7813286091 /srs /np), and used Enstars as a coping mechanism bc I was very angry. I am very very tired, it is 2am, and this is your update, tada. Also, I replayed the demo of Our Life: Now & Forever and I'm so excited for the next steps, I only have Twitter, X, whatever, for updates from the lovely devs GB Patches, one of my biggest inspirations to make visual novels. If you don't play Our Life, PLEASE play it, it's amazing, it's beautiful, I CRIED. I literally had Bleed buy me the DLCs because of how attached to it I am, I adore them (both the games and Bleed, thx Bleed xoxo). Our Life: Now & Forever is still in development, Our Life: Beginnings and Always is COMPLETE :((( the final DLC was released in Late May/Early June, it was the Baxter DLC, which was my favourite. They are working on a Patreon exclusive (bc it's an 18+ night of the wedding DLC). It's absolutely beautiful, I am hyped for when I'm able to buy the Patreon. PLAY THE GAME!! Okay so since I literally just want to talk about Our Life now, I'm gonna end this. Because I literally barely played Our Life: Now & Forever bc my computer died at the time. Oh look, it seems everyone has been opted into the unfortunate "experiment" now. For everyone who has been blissfully using the old UI up until now, welcome to hell :)

You will need to have Tampermonkey installed on your browser of choice, and once that's done, just go to the github link above, and peruse the readme to install. And voila! You have your old dash back!

The authors of XKit Rewritten said during the experiments that at the time, since this was an "experiment" they weren't going to implement anything to revert to the old UI (although who knows if they'll do it now). And the dashboard unfucker has worked beautifully enough for me to where I genuinely couldn't tell if they had ended the experiment or not.

99% of people will be unaffected, and this is NOT a crackdown on having nsfw content on gdrive

"What I think has happened is that drive has made several updates to its spam/abuse filtering and one of the focuses is trying to catch spammers who share explicit things in docs with random emails. Which is good in theory, but has the potential to hit false positives."

his recommendation is to keep NSFW words out of your doc titles and instead of sharing the "open link", share directly with you beta's email addresses.

It is also more likely to flag up explicit images, though that is less likely to be a fic problem.

Haven’t been productive today, but I did get to work and so far I’ve had 425 calories. My plan for tonight is to be productive until like 10 pm, and if I eat anything else it’ll be small to stay in my 800 cal limit for today

End of day update:

I got some stuff done after work and my final calorie count for the day is 455, so just over half of my limit for the day. All good stuff. Tomorrow I’ll be more productive. I did get most of the stuff on my daily to do list done, but I want to go above and beyond.

I just gave a sermon at my church today about asexuality and how to be an ally. Not only did I get a lot of comments about how much people liked it (and how it was easy to understand for so many old folks), but one old lady came up to me afterwards with tears in her eyes and she said, "I'm 77 years old and I finally know what I am. Thank you." And that just made everything I've done worth it.

(also, thank you @onbearfeet for letting me use one of your blog posts. It resonated with a lot of people)

just remembered a fic on AO3 (or more likely LJ because it had that distinct late 00's experimental vibe) that appeared double-spaced oddly, in that some paragraphs would be spaced normally and others would have double or even triple spaces in between. it was about one half of the otp getting over the other's death (or coma, can't remember which), so all the comments were about how poignant the use of visual spacing was as a means to convey all the emotional holes in the character's life.

and then the author replied like... *giggle* guys it's NOT double spaced. try selecting the whole text

and we were all like "no WAY"

but we selected the text, and yes!!!

the "holes" in the story? they were actually lines and actions from the dead/coma character's ghost, rendered invisible to the eye by the simple trick of coloring the text the exact same as the background, revealed by nothing more than a click and a drag of the mouse

a story about the profound loneliness of losing your the partner of your life and having to make do without them, without anything to fill the holes they'd left behind, suddenly became a story about the profound helplessness of seeing someone you love suffer from your absence while you are right there, unable to do anything about it, unable to communicate that you love them enough to suffer unseen and unheard with them, just to keep them company they'll never know about

it was then that I truly realized how *superior* the digital medium is to plain printed paper, how the medium and the format can add to a story.

I think about that fic about once a year. I wish I could find it again
