My two favorite parts of this episode were “John gets to experience a human connection” and “Arthur curb stomps a guy just to prove he can, probably.”
Bonus Noel/Charlie concept sketches and lil Arthur and Noel colors under the cut

me: only portraying aspec characters as robots/aliens is harmful representation because it reinforces the idea that aro/acespec people are emotionless, cold, and less than human for not experiencing attraction

[read on Ao3]
___
And now there’s Buck. His best friend, his co-parent, his partner… and since very recently, his boyfriend. It’s fairly new, just a few weeks, but it doesn’t feel like it. Eddie feels as if they’ve been together for years now. In a way, they have. They’ve been dancing around their feelings for such a long time, Eddie’s not even sure when it started. But they made it official just a while back, and the transition from friendship to romance surprisingly felt like the most natural and easiest thing in the world. Like it was always meant to happen.
This year it’s their first Christmas together as a couple, and Eddie thought he’d be nervous, but he’s really not. It’s the most normal thing, buying gifts for their kid together, decorating the house together, picking out a tree. The thing is, Buck loves Christmas. He hasn’t had the best Christmases as a child, but he loves it now, and always wants to make it as special for Christopher as possible, and wants to give him everything Buck always wanted but didn’t get. Eddie loves watching him match Chris’ enthusiasm, and being genuine about it, and, above all, making him excited about Christmas – that first one after Shannon’s death was tough, but, after all, so is his kid. Now it’s just an opportunity to connect with his mom, honor her, feel her presence in the Christmas spirit. Plus, having Buck here helps to keep the Christmas atmosphere, while he still makes sure there’s room for some reminiscing.

whumpee spent years with whumper. years. they were conditioned, loyal, they were almost whumper's equal save for the collar around their neck. whumper trusted them fully, they were inseparable.
and yet in the end whumpee still runs off. leaves whumper to die. or better yet, they poison one of their morning coffees themself. whumper realising that all those years during which their own affection was genuine, whumpee never actually liked them. it was never a case of stockholm syndrome or any delusion of love. whumpee was never actually conditioned.
bonus if it's not a deadly poison. just something fun for a role reversal. whumper has given up all their secrets, all their assets, all their tactics. whumpee knows everything and they intend to use it against them. whumpee has been playing them and they didn't even notice, blinded by their own obsession.

Finished the second season of What If and I need to say something about Peggy.
I feel like her story isn't really "What if Peggy Carter was Captain America" but more "What if Captain America was a woman." I feel like if they put a random female character into that suit, the story would have stayed the same.
Because Peggy doesn't really have a character. She's a badass woman. She's a strong female character who can get by on her own and yay! Feminism!
Sure.
She's not a character, she's an archetype. And given what archetype she is, I was honestly surprised that they kept tying her back to Steve. Even in the actually alternate storylines of the last two episodes, they kept bringing up Steve and tying her motivations back to him. Everything we learn about Captain Carter is somehow connected to Steve.
If Steve doesn't exist, her story doesn't really work. Her character exists to be a badass independent female superhero and the creators couldn't even do that right.
The creators keep shoving her and Steve together like a little kid playing with dolls and I need them to find new toys to play with, because these ones are old and worn down and broken.
You broke it, you don't get to play with it anymore!
