normal, whats normal? the definition is well something that is just plain and ordinary to put it simply enough. normal however is not what you were.

for you worked as a stage hand for the hit tv show Supernatural. working as hair, makeup, and wardrobe for every single actor.

Today was a day where they were trying an idea you had, the props and such laid out and depending on how this day goes you would either get to say you wrote an episode of supernatural.

You instead wanted to make the angel tablet known ahead of schedule. You were sure that the angel tablet was fake, everyone knew it was a prop.

One day Richard comes in for a hair cut (not part of the job but a side gig you do), you sit him down into he chair and place the cape.

Yn: so what will it be today?

Richard: 1 Gabriel please!

Yn: coming right up... How's the shoot so far?

Richard: not bad, having to reshoot a few of the fights cause the equipment keeps glitching out.

Yn: how long has it been glitching out for?

Richard: not long, it started maybe early this morning during the first scene why?

You were now thinking "like a hunter"

Yn: well now I'm thinking like a hunter so what option sounds better demon or ghost?

You said as you took your clippers to his hair...

Richard: well that depends how well do you think this would go if it were the case.

Yn: well demons a devil's trap and an exorcism your good. Ghost involves bodies, fire, salt, iron and cemeteries I'd take the demons anyday!

Richard now staring at your facials which were currently focusing on your hair cut.

Richard: what would you do if someone in the cast had a crush on you.

Yn: well I'm not too sure you see I've never ever been in love. Never had a boyfriend, never fallen for anyone. I've been single this entire time and I mean if someone on the cast did have a crush on me I honestly would be shocked, probably a little nervous and yet happy that someone wanted to be with me.

Richard didn't even have a chance to sort out his thoughts instead he just kinda gently blurted out the following words and shut his mouth very quickly after realizing what he said.

Richard: well I mean what if it was me?

That just shocked the living hell right out of you. Was he trying to confess, was he trying to tell you he loved you...

You moved from behind him to stand in front of him now. As you spoke with a bit more confusion and gentility to your tones than anything.

Yn: what?

Richard: I love you yn! I have loved you since the first day I met you! And right now I profess to you my love, today I make a gesture of bliss, of my love, of my feelings! i happily give you my heart as a token of my affection!

you watch his features only growing softer with each word. not considering what may or may not happen!

yn: do you know how long i have been waiting for you to say that... i love you too Richard! and ive waited far too long for you to tell me those words.

richard smiled and stood now to meet your body with the most open and gentle embrace. richard takes in every single scent off your form. his eyes meet yours once the embrace is pulled back.

Richard: i suppose i dont have to ask to kiss you.

yn: you dont have to, but it is certainly nice to be asked such a question!

richard takes that as his cue, for unknown to you or richard at the moment of your kiss that you both were being watched Rob was standing at the door.

your mind however was screaming at you that you were kissing one of the people you work with, that you were finally off the market as it were.

rob clears his throat making you and rich break the kiss.

rob: i hope you guys have an explanation for this

yn: rob i know this looks bad, but i can promise you this will not hinder our duties. Now, please tell me the reason you have entered my trailer without knocking!

rob: i wanted to tell you that hair and make up needs touch ups on a few people!

you stare at rob who just eyes you and Richard just cozy in each other's arms.

rob: fine come down in 5 to the studio, also rich we are going to reshoot your scenes. make sure you are ready to do so. oh by the way i always thought you two looked good together.

rob leaves the room without another word, you and rich kissed again before you sat him down to finish his hair.

richard: i guess we actually get to...

thats when an explosion came from among the building where everyone was. this made you and richard run out of the trailer only to find the studio engulfed in a bright bright light.

without thinking you both ran inside and were almost paralyzed kinda without warning and trapped in your own minds, you were btoh staring at this light like it was alive or something.

voice in the light: stay the studio after dark, may the words of the tablet be revealed to your true destiny together you will both do great things, apart can only mean certain death. listen to the spirit of the tablet, for it will reveal what has long since been lost. Now speak of this to no one for this will not be easy, but beware something evil is here and doesn't like you 2 being together it will stop at nothing to stop you both from hearing or rather reading the tablet. Good luck to you both and happy hunting!

Back in your own bodies the light dispursed as you and Richard now were hugging it out.

Yn: okay I know no one appointed me in charge but please listen to me, everyone let's work together to put the studio back in order and then go home and get some sleep. The studio and filming will still be here in the morning.

A few hours later the last of the clean up crew went home, you and rich were back in your trailer and sitting on the couch before shoes were removed.

Richard: are you okay?

Yn: am I okay, no I'm actually not, the only person saving me from going over the edge is you right now! And I can't even imagine what is going through your mind! I am so sorry perhaps if we had not said anything about our feelings none of this would have...

Richard: hey hey, I don't regret confessing my feelings to you. It was the right moment besides, had we not done so we would not be sitting in your trailer alone and happy right now would we.

You stared into his eyes, they were just piercing yours the same way waves crash to the shore line.

Yn: I love you and I am still willing to make ethics work! No matter what happens during the....

That's when a small ball of light now floated in front of both of you.

Richard: babe please tell me your seeing this

Yn: oh ya I'm seeing it, not sure what it wants, but if you weren't holding my hand right now I would swear I was dreaming or hallucinating or something. all I know is my gut is telling me this ball of light and the voice we heard in the room full of light must be connected.

You and Richard make your way following the ball of light back to the studio, using your key card to get inside.

Richard: what are we looking for

Yn: the voice said something bout reading a tablet... Maybe the angel tablet prop?

You and Richard make your way to the set where your eyes go wide at the sight of what looks like a shadow figure standing before you both holding the tablet.

Figure: ah so it's time... Why won't the tablet reveal itself. Ugh...

You soon spoke without thinking leaving it dark that he wouldn't be able to easily find you. The place echos and it's easy to throw your voice.

Yn: hey ugly, put down the tablet.

Figure: what who said that.

Yn: I am yn, me and my friend here were just coming to check the props for the shoot tomorrow. Your trespassing, state your business.

Figure: come into he light so I may see both yours and your friends faces. So we may at least have a decent convo before I tear you both into pieces.

Richard: christo

The figure screeched. You both ran out from behind the wall and kicked the figure down. You then pushed him so he was standing under the key of Solomon.

Figure: what is this... You stupid girl, give me the... Wait what...

The tablet gloweed from the table near by, it was faint but got brighter and brighter as you and Richard approached it.

Richard: this is impossible.

You nod as you reach out and grab it, you hold it in your hands and feel it's plastic material change to actual stone.

Yn: this isn't real... It can't be...

Richard: oh my god. I think it's auto translating itself.

Richard then clears his throat as he prepared to read the tablet.

Richard: hear me, my pleas to thee, thy will be done, soon by thy light, thine hour is nigh, to wed thee whose hearts are now whole. In the sights of angelic chorus heard, things that should not be are, welcome to the world you know not, welcome to the sight, let thine trials commence.

you and richard turn around to face the figure... you both figured the first trial had to do with the thief or dark figure.

yn: alright squiggy time to fess up,,, who and what are you?

figure: alright fine, my name is nothing and you both are toast unless you release me as in give me the angel tablet.

richard: what the hell is the deal with the tablet. its real not a prop. what the hell do you want with it

figure: well with the tablet i can find out how to destroy your bond which awaken the power within both of you. your hearts are one in the same, your destinies are meant to be one.

You and Richard look from the figure, to the tablet, to each other and back to the figure.

Richard: well first of all, your not getting out of that circle. Second we are fine with being soulmates, we are absolutely fine with what the tablet has said, this is our first trial and it's to get rid of you. Together we say it, your done bitch. Hit it babe.

You didn't need to have any words or lines in front of you because you had them memorized.

Yn & Richard: exorciamous te omnis immundus spiritus omnis satanica potestas omnis incursio infernalis adversaraii omnis legio omnis congregatio insectas diabolica ergo dracto malidic te eclesium securum tuam fascious libertatum te regamos audinos

The figure burst into black smoke that went up toward the key, once it was gone the world became alot brighter the studio was less creepy.

Yn: well we now have the angel tablet and no clue what the next trial is.

Voice: thy will is granted, for your next task is simple in that, make your love declared to the world and produce an heir to help fight the upcoming darkness!

Both you and Richard just stared at the tablet.

Yn: thats it... Geez we could do that anyway...

Richard: yn, these last few years were hard you not knowing the truth of my feelings and you being around every day was torture but now sure as I stand before you today I declare that right here and now we are twin flames, United forever in a bond so strong that it can overcome anything.

You smile as the tablet stops glowing and a plastic duplicate goes back on the props table.

Yn: I guess this means no one need know what we just went through.

Richard: your trailer or mine?

Yn: which ever one is closer but can we do a favor and have the sense to do things right. I mean I'm all for loosing myself to you right now, but kids after the wedding, for the dress I want I need not be pregnant or anywhere close to it. So safety is a priority.

Richard carries you and the tablet back to your trailer so your not walking cross the grounds in the dark. Opening it you both are breathing in sighs of relief as you put the actual tablet in your safe and lock it tight.

You both fall onto the bed and you smile as you kick off your shoes and take off your sweater, Richard takes off his shoes and his sweater/shirt throwing all those items to the floor, you both pass out for it had been a long day.

I’m here to prove that Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spider-man/peter parker in The Amazing Spider-Man is objectively the best love action adaptation of the character. In this essay I will....(yes this is really happening)

Edit: 10/20/20- i want to indulge myself in spiderman content but finding non mcu spiderman content is exhausting so imma update this instead

TL;DR

Andrew Garfield is my favorite of the 3 Spider-Man actors. TAS’s Peter is more fun and dynamic than the cookie cutter “shy introverted nerd that has a crush on a girl who’s way out of his league” Peter in Tobey Maguire’s movies. I enjoy Tom Holland’s portrayal of the character, but hate the way Disney has written the movies. I enjoy the characters, plot, and humor of The Amazing Spider-Man far more than the other 2, and i deeply wish we had gotten the third movie with the canon BIder-Man of Andrew’s (and my) dreams.

[DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NOT SEEN THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2 OR ANY MCU SPIDERMAN MOVIES OUTSIDE OF CLIPS AND REVIEWS ITS ALSO BEEN A VERY HOT MINUTE SINCE IVE SEEN A TOBEY MAGUIRE MOVIE]

Characterization

Most arguments against Andrew Garfield’s Spidey( AG’s from now on) begin and ends with “he was a good Spider-Man but a bad Peter Parker”. This references an outdated post comparing all three Spidey actors.(Id attach the image here but i dont want the post to be too long(thats a lie this is so long what am i doing with my life)) The post also claims that Tobey played a good Peter and a poor Spidey; and that Tom is good at both “roles”.(Honestly I think it seems silly that this seems obey the “third time’s the charm” rule but thats just me). Most people using this seem to be Tobey stans who have forgotten or ignored the rest of the post funnily enough, but the ones that go further into the WHY AG is a poor Peter are also incorrect. This argument also ignores the idea that there can be more than one version of Peter Parker which is blatantly incorrect. Just look at Into the Spiderverse or the PS4 game; these provide 4(5 if you count the pig) versions of Peter themselves, and that doesnt even include the comics.

Arguments that go further in depth claim that the AS Peter is too cool or well liked by his peer to be a “true” Peter Parker. The evidence for this seems to be that Peter has a skateboard.(which what? didnt realize that having a skateboard would instantly make you cool brb guys). Adding to that i dont really see where people get the idea that Peter is popular or well liked. While looking for complaints i found this qutoe from reddit(theyve since deleted it looks like but i’ll add a link in the notes) “He's angsty, pretty socially awkward, has an aptitude for science, and is kind of an outsider. He gets bullied by Flash and he gets his ass kicked after trying to stand up to Flash. He isn't a "cool" person in any way (until the ending, in which he's best buds with Flash, so I'll give you that). While Maguire is more accurate to the 60s comics where Peter in high school is just a fucking loser with basically no friends, in the ultimate comics, Peter is more of the kid who has a small amount of friends, but isn't popular.”. Honesty i fully agree with this because once again, other versions of a character are allowed to exist. You can dislike one version, but its silly to dislike something for not being exactly like another thing.

Ive also heard that Peter isnt “nerdy enough” in this movie which really doesnt make any sense considering the entire plot happens because Peter was looking into some of his parents’ research. If he wasn't interested in looking further into his father’s work what reason would he have to go to Oscorp where he’s bitten by the spider? Why would he have become Dr. Conner’s assistant? If he wasn’t intelligent how did he develop the web shooters?(something that Tobey!Peter doesn't have to do out of plot convenience might i add).

Another complaint i see is that the quips he uses in the movie(the first one specifically it seems) makes him seem like an asshole. Honestly thats a fair complaint, but i think its a good bit of characterization; espcially if he does get better about it in the second movie like the internet suggests.The Peter in this movie is a rightfully angsty teen; of course he acts a bit of an ass to criminals(also i feel like its important to mention that he’s like that to criminals? its not like hes being a dick for no reason).

Compare this with the Tobey Maguire(TM) movies. Like i said i haven’t seen these in awhile but as far as i’m aware TM’s Peter doesn't really do anything particularly nerdy in the film? I may have forgotten something( ok in the scene before he gets bitten he knows a cool spider fact) but he doesn’t have to invent the web-shooters because they came with his powers and he’s only at Oscorp in the first place because it’s a school field trip that he appears to be taking photos for. This Peter does fit the definition of outcast(friendless and bullied for it), but honestly i just dont like him. He’s weird and something about the character makes me feel like i should be a little grossed out every time he looks at MJ at the beginning of the movie.

I honestly don’t have any complaints for Tom Holland’s(TH’s)Spidey. Tom is a great actor and from what ive seen i enjoy his portrayal of the character.( He made me cry when i character i actively dislike died).

Story

I cant really say much for TAS story. It’s interesting but nothing special really. However, there is one scene that i don’t think i’ve seen anything like since( the closest would probably be the train scene in the original trilogy).

The crane scene. Early in the film Peter saves a boy from a car that has fallen off of a bridge, and at the end of the movie this becomes relevant again when it is uncertain that Peter will be able to get to the lizard to stop him in time.(as Peter is already injured and pretty far from the lizard’s location). The boy’s father is then revealed to be a construction worker who recognizes that Spider-man is going to need help to get to the lizard; he remembers how Spider-Man saved his son and organizes the rest of the construction workers to build a path out of crane arms for SM to swing from. All of them are putting themselves in danger by not evacuating, but SM’s actions in the first act of the film motivate them to do what’s right.

I love this scene primarily because it highlights something that i think is a really important part of Spider-Man’s character; his connection to the people he saves. SM is often shown interacting with and chatting with the people he has saved after the fact. One comic shows Peter accidentally scaring some bullies and then taking the time to ride the bus to school with them to continue their conversation and educate the students on bullying.( There’s definitely more but this is off the top of my head).

Another scene in TAS that i love is shortly before the crane scene when Peter is originally attempting to make his way across the city to stop the lizard, and he is shot down by the police. They manage to unmask him before Peter comes to his senses( he had just been shot and fallen pretty far out of the sky in his defense). From there Peter is able to deal with the police while keeping any of them from getting a good look at his face. The one cop he cant take out happens to be Gwen Stacey’s father who had previously had an argument with Peter about Spider-Man(Peter obviously on SM’s side and Mr. Stacey against SM). Peter turns and allows Captain(?) Stacey to see his face. I believe that this is an example of an unwilling identity reveal done right. i really enjoyed this moment because Peter had just shown that he likely could have gotten out of this encounter with his identity in tact as he had just taken down however many men. This implies that it was an active choice on Peter’s end to trust that Captain Stacey would ultimately do the right thing and allow Peter to go fight the Lizard, rather than a final desperate attempt to get away unscathed. Whether or not this interpretation of the scene is correct or not it still gives the character a bit more agency than some versions have done with their identity reveals.

In Spider-Man 2 Peter starts to lose his powers because he’s having internal conflict about wether or not he should be Spider-Man. Honestly thats kinda neat and i might want to give that a rewatch. As for the one i have seen i don’t have any complaints. I do however prefer the way that Peter was bitten in TAS because it was a result of him poking around where he shouldn’t’ve been rather than him just happening to be standing in the right place for a spider to land on him.

Onto TH’s movies; the way Disney has treated Spidey in the MCU is why TH’s is my least favorite version of the character. I feel like too much of the story revolves around Iron Man; Iron Man made Peter’s suit and equipment, Iron Man introduces Peter to the MCU(via blackmail but thats another rant for another annoyingly long post), its Iron Man that “makes” Spidey in this universe rather than Spidey being self-made. In Homecoming(which remember i havent seen outside of clips so bear with me) most of the conflict is cause directly or indirectly by Tony’s refusal or inabilty to communicate with the teenager he’s meant to be mentoring

For one the entire incident with the ferry could have very easily been avoided had Tony bothered to communicate with Peter enough to tell him that the situation was being taken care of. On top of that at the moive’s climax Peter is shown trying to get in contact with Happy(from what ive picked up isnt he a chauffeur? like idk his deal i just know he’s someone Peter got pawned off onto after Civil War). Peter even goes as far as to somehow hack into Happy’s phone(i think thats what happened it was a weird tech thing that shouldve been a red flag that the call was important though) but instead of listening; Peter is ignored. If this was a different kind of movie Peter literally could have died and itd be the fault of Happy and Tony like..... A large portion of conflict comes from characters being incompetent and not communicating and thats just poor storytelling.

Before this turns too much into an anti mcu rant id also like to say that the way they did Civil War was really dumb considering that Peter defects to Cap’s side in the comics, but whatever.

Also i loathe the way they handled the identity reveal at the end of Far From Home. With MCU movies most people know to expect an end credits scene by now, but typically that scene is not important to understand what’s happening in the films; they just aren’t important. Putting an identity reveal here makes it seem significantly less important than it is. On top of that i dislike their use of J Jonah Jameson for this scene.

JJJ is a character who has been repeatedly shown to have a genuinely good heart. All of his anger comes from a place of love for his city(he even says this hemself in the ps4 game when May writes in to tell him that he needs help). He hates Spider-Man because SM reminds him of the masked man who killed his wife; JJJ has never been able to get past that( and Peter’s antagonism of him definitely doesnt help) However, JJJ has been shown to care for people; he has a son who he often brags about, and one comic shows that JJJ is paying Peter for “amateur” quality photos because he knows that Peter is having a hard time and “just need some help”. JJJ has even learned Peter’s identity before and kept his secret for him(seriously though i cant remember the name of the comic but its defiantly worth the read), and in the original trilogy when Goblin threatens JJJ he claims that he doesn’t know who sends in the photos of Spidey because he does it via email( this is a lie). The MCU will have a very difficult time convincing me that JJJ would ever out a teenager’s identity and put him in danger like that. It goes too far against his character.(this could be hypocritical of me to say considering how i just insisted that multiple versions of a character can exist but whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

This is accidentally turning into an MCU rant but id also like to say that i hate the lack of a TH!Spidey origin movie because it gives you no motivaion for Peter becoming SM or explanation of his powers; most people will know these things but if youre unfamiliar with the character its bound to be confusing(and im a sucker for origin movies)

avengers endgame spoiler-filled review

below the cut bc spoilers obviously

even after two viewings this movie is super overwhelming so I’m just gonna jump right in

- clint’s family disappearing was so haunting and traumatic omg

- i didn’t like the music choice over the marvel opening crawl

- nebula was so adorably intense when tony playing footbal with her

- carol is such a bad bitch she just carried an entire fucking ship through space

- steve running up to tony and holding on to him... that was content I didn’t know I needed

- the pepperony hug ughhh I’m not a huge gwenyth paltrow fan but she was so good as pepper in this

- honestly I get tony has been through a lot but he was such a dick back at the avengers compound. I’ve always preferred steve to tony and that scene really displayed why. Yes tony was right something bigger was coming, but his way of going about preventing it was proven wrong both times. I don’t consider ultron to be super canon because joss whedon sucks but tony’s first idea to try and solve it failed, and then the accords also failed and even rhodey regretted it. Infinity war was basically “hey yeah the accords was dumb af and steve was right and now the avengers are scattered.” Both tony and steve were selfish and made mistakes in civil war but the fact that it had been over three years and tony was still soooo angry with steve and holding a grudge just rubbed me the wrong way.

- I really felt for thor when they went to get thanos. Chris hemsworth’s acting in that scene was so good when he realized they had failed

- again who on earth put steve in charge of a support group. And while yes its nice to have some lgbtq representation marvel is way behind on that so to me it did not feel like enough

- paul rudd did so well in this movie and scott is such a good dad ugh

- 10/10 would die for morgan stark. She is soooo cute and it was hilarious when she was like “mom told me to come rescue you”

- i know a lot of people are mad at tony dying bc he could have “retired” but that scene with his daughter before steve, nat, and scott show up shows he could not. He still had a garage where he built iron man suits and suits for pepper. That’s not what someone does when they are out of a fight. That’s why he fell back into it so fast because he never left it. He was still tinkering and preparing and even when he retired he was still fully ready to go back

- i like professor hulk but at the same time i miss bruce

- tony and steve love each other so much it made me so happy when tony showed up at the compound. they’ve had their differences but there is real love there

- speaking of real love I will still never forgive joss whedon for taking clintasha away from us like yes their platonic friendship is great but UGH. They love each other SOOOOOOO much

- tom hiddleston as loki always steals the show and i miss him so much. I was convinced he wasnt dead so I’m sad that he was still dead in the current timeline. But maybe since there is now an alternate dimension with loki and the tesseract he will show up again

- him impersonating steve, his side eye, just... *chefs kiss*

- the america’s ass comment... amazing, iconic, beautiful. And then steve’s “yeah I know” comment to his 2012 self. I’m so glad the russos let steve be funny

- I love how much winter soldier played into this one especially since it was the russo’s first mcu movie. The elevator scene... steve outsmarting the hydra agents. Secretary pierce showing up... and then steve fighting his past self was just *chefs kiss* again. The fact that he knows his own weakness is bucky and uses it against himself

- not excited to see tilda swinton’s character because its just a reminder of marvel’s whitewashing but I appreciated it trying to explain the timeline/dimension stuff

- i also loved that at the army compound tony was able to get closure with his dad, something he deserved for a long time. I think that was another hint he was going to die because his arc was completing while steve’s.... the look on steve’s face when he saw peggy just broke me. absolutely broke me. Steggy was my first ship in the mcu and so steve and peggy hold a special place in my heart. The fact she still keeps the picture of tiny steve after all these years (a reference to agent carter)... they both moved on enough to enjoy life but never truly moved on enough to leave the other behind. And so while tony was getting closure, steve was being reminded of what he wanted most and couldn’t have. I also loved the tie in with agent carter and showing Jarvis this movie was truly a fan service to us all

- okay so rhodey/nebula: so ive never been a huge nebula person but i really liked her in this movie. I loved rhodey’s line about “you work with what you got” as far as their disabilities. I felt so bad for new nebula because old nebula SUCKKSSS and I hate she had to face her. I loved that in this movie thanos was wearing his armor because 2014 thanos was not as strong or secure with himself. His energy was SO different compared to the thanos we saw in infinity war so props to josh brolin

- natasha/clint: Well go ahead and rip my heart out. The audience knows only one of them is coming back but they have no idea. And they love each other SO FUCKING MUCH they both tried to sacrifice themselves to save the other person. That is true love. Jeremy renner is such an underrated actor and his reaction to natasha dying just killed me. But so did scarlett johansson’s acting as much as I hate to admit it because I’ve really stopped liking her as much due to her recent acting choices but she played that scene so well. And I will miss natasha romanoff forever. She deserved so much more and paved the way for all the other female superheroes in the mcu

- everyone crying over nat and especially steve broke me. They had such a special friendship, almost as strong as her and clint and I feel so many people forget that because of how natural they were together. And her last words to him were that she would see him in a minute and then she didn’t come back..

- i just realized i havent talked about thor and thats honestly because my brain blocked it out. I like that they explored his depression but dont like that he was made the joke of the avengers and I don’t think it was handled well. I did enjoy his conversation with frigga and by that I mean it made me cry. (also loki deserves a conversation like that too don’t @ me)

- STEVE WIELDS MJOLNIR!!! IT WAS SO BADASS AND MY DREAM COME TRUE I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED IN A MOVIE. To me that was the absolute highlight of the movie

- And then sam says “on your left” and all the characters come and the music... poetic cinema

- thanos is a weak little bitch and as soon as wanda was beating him he was fine with his own troops dying just so he could get away

- TONY AND PETER REUNITING CURED MY DEPRESSION AND THEN GAVE IT RIGHT BACK

- CAROL IS SO POWERFUL MY LESBIAN QUEEN

- sebastian stan has no business looking this good my god

- I forgot how much I missed peter parker

- I didn’t notice mbaku until my second viewing and honestly the wakandan characters were shafted like poor shuri we didn’t even know she was dusted until a few weeks before the movie

- I know everyone loves the scene of all the women characters carrying the gauntlet but honestly marvel has a long way to go before they reach equality and it honestly wasn’t enough for me

- side note pepper fighting back to back with tony was awesome

- ugh tony’s face when he realizes what he has to do and he looks at strange for confirmation... give rdj an oscar like my god. He knows that the past few years have led up to this moment and he is absolutely terrified and determined and I am tearing up while writing this because I am remembering it so vividly

- peter parkers goodbye had me crying why is tom holland such a good actor

- pepper’s goodbye BROKE ME... “you can rest now” I think that is the epitome of tony’s arc. For his entire storyline he has been trying to right his wrongs and save his friends and the world and that is so much for one man to carry on his shoulders and everyone knew it would be the death of him. I know tony stans are pissed off that he died, but I don’t see him just being able to retire. Obviously I didn’t want him to die, but his whole storyline has been leading up to this. He truly got a hero’s sendoff and was solidified as THE hero of the mcu. This era started with him and it ended with him. It was a beautiful sendoff for the character that started it all. And I don’t think rdj would go along with it if he didn’t approve

- Steve’s ending.... so I knew from spoilers what would happen and while it was something I wanted in theory I was pissed when I first found out. But it somehow worked. If you look at steve’s arc, he has always been a man out of time. For everyone getting mad he was hung up on a girl he kissed once, it’s pretty much confirmed in agent carter that he and peggy were on the DL for 3 years. she wasnt just a crush he knew for a few months. They loved each other and fought side by side for three years and time took him too soon. In age of ultron the only part I liked was steve’s vision where he gets a dance with peggy. As much as he moved on in the present, the possibility he missed with her always haunted him. You can tell in peggy’s video in the winter solider that even though she married and had kids, the thought of steve still gets her choked up. When she sees him as an old woman she immediately crumbles. They both have referred to each other as the loves of their lives.

- So with that said, I don’t think it’s weird or out of the blue that he would suddenly decide to try and go back to peggy. They won, bucky is back and safe, sam is back and safe, he can finally rest, and he has the tools to go back in time. The way I interpreted it, Bucky 100% knew what he was going to do. The look on his face, the tone of his voice. He knew Steve was not coming back, and he also knew he deserved to have that happy ending. So while sam and bruce thought it would only be 5 seconds, bucky turned away from the machine, knowing steve wouldn’t show up there. I ship stucky too because I just want steve happy so while at first I was like “how could he leave bucky??” watching it on screen it made sense. Bucky approved of his choice, and while he was saddened by it, he understood it.

- In my interpretation, I don’t think steve stayed in the main timeline. I think him going back created an alternate timeline where he married peggy, dissolved hydra earlier, and freed bucky earlier. At some point, those two timelines merged, and he wandered over to where he knew they would be. OR after peggy died, he used the technology to travel back to that timeline when he was old. Or my friend suggested he could have met tony stark in his alternate timeline and asked for his help. Who knows. He literally came back with a shield, meaning he was at one point captain america again in that timeline. I don’t think there is anyway he could just stay quiet for 70 years about bucky being tortured and peggy running shield that was secretly hydra. I refuse to believe that. If the russos come out and say that’s what he did, then I’ll backtrack and say I don’t approve of steve’s ending. But as of right now I’m okay with it.
