Dp x dc idea… more of a mini fic 108
Dani is melting in front of Danny’s eyes and Danny is panicking. He reveals that he and Dani are halfas. Begging his parents to help stabilize Dani. That he couldn’t watch her melt away. his parents don’t take it well. Chasing him out of the lab.
He barley got Dani and him out with minimum injuries.
Danny had no access to proper supplies, and risks going to vlad.
Offering to be the perfect son if he saves Dani. Making him promise she would be safe and stable. Telling him all that happened. That his mom wouldn’t accept him, she didn’t even accept Danny.
He has a bad feeling when vlad eye flash red and he agrees.
After a few test the fruitloop announces he got the dna necessary to stabilize her. That he will easily synthesize the necessary components. But he wouldn’t hand over the cure unless Danny proved what he said. That he was capable of following orders and being the perfect son.
He was Holding a vial of some liquid. Telling Danny to drink it.
Vlad wouldn’t kill him right?
So he drinks the mysterious liquid. Last thing he heard was that when he wakes up he and his sister would be safe. Which confused him. Why was Jazz involved.
When he woke up things were too big. Why was everything so big? Looking around they were in a cage… on with no roof. Then he saw Dani. Dani was small. Tiny a mere toddler. Maybe 5 at the most. Wait. No no no. He was the same size.
Vlad: i hear you’re awake little badger. How unfortunate. I was hoping to move the three of us before hand. It’s not as if you’ll remember any of this. I was planning on erasing it once we were across.
Vlad was standing in front of a portal. Not his ghost portal. One separated and with a deficient design.
Vlad: this dimension simply isn’t safe for my little family. I recently recorded an artifact that will allow us to jump dimensions. One time use unfortunately. With no stable portal not even your allies will find us.
Yea. No. That’s not happening. Danny didn’t agree to be turned into a toddler. Nor loose his memories.
He wasn’t going with the fruitloop. He just had to phase out of here. He couldn’t get himself to fully phase. Only a hand.
Vlad who hadn’t even looked up from the now glowing portal: “even you should have realized your powers aren’t working. It’s why i needed more dna samples. To fix both my children. Far to young, body’s to frail to handle them all. You’ll slowly grow into them.”
The fruitloop finally turned to face him and Dani. Approaching them. Picking them up. Did he really just pick him up?
No.
This was not okay with Danny. So he started hitting, kicking and squirming. All while Dani stayed asleep.
Vlad: Daniel behave. Act more like your sister. The portal is only one way trip. You wouldn’t want to be left behind now would you.
The fruitloop was only getting close to the portal. He had to act.
One way trip… Act more like his sister. Act like Dani.
So.
He hit the man as hard as he could. Until the man let go and essentially threw them to the ground oh so close to this new dimension. He didn’t have time to think.
They were so close to the portal.
He just grabbed Dani chucked his shoe at vlad to unbalance the man and fell through the portal.
**
Jonathan and Martha Kent certainly weren’t expecting two toddlers to fall out of the sky into their field. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time they took in two children.
Their oldests could do with some younger siblings.
Even if they did have to coax the two twins?siblings? inside with pie later that night.

Mads, I've been Autistic about what breed(s) of dog the FireFam could be and even if you don't like interact w this post I just would like to make you laugh- I may have to post multiples b/c there's A Lot. Ok, so, Bobby is a yellow lab a la Shadow from Homeward Bound and I will die on that hill. Athena is, obv, a Dobie- she's stunning, but a softy for her family but she also makes smiling look like a threat. (1/?)
Thank you for your patience dear I was rushing to finish the F&F AU and was also rather busy this weekend in general. I'm including your other three asks here as screenshots and this all is going to get a bit long so I'm putting everything below a cut to spare people's dashes!
FIRST OF ALL, HOW DARE YOU. HOW FUCKING DARE YOU.
SHADOW FROM HOMEWARD BOUND!?
Tumblr media
I'M GOING TO DROWN IN MY OWN TEARS.
WHEN THE KID IS LIKE OH MAYBE HE WAS TOO OLD AND THEN SHADOW APPEARS BECAUSE HE'S GOING TO COME HOME TO HIS BOY NO MATTER WHAT!!!! G O D
I NEED TO BE SEDATED!!!!
Ahem.
Tumblr media
STICK A LITTLE CROWN ON HER AND CALL HER ATHENA!
I babysat for a family that had a Doberman and he was truly a sweetheart. So protective of me and would stay glued to my side while I was there. "A softie for her family but makes smiling look like a threat" is soooooo Athena.
Tumblr media
oh my GOD I'm DYING
Tumblr media
Look at this baby. Pure fucking ADHD right here. *pats puppy* This guy can fit SO much anxiety and innate need to be of use in him!
I'M FUCKING HOWLING OVER EDDIE. LOOK YOU'RE NOT... YOU'RE NOT WRONG ABOUT THE CORGI COMMENT. THERE ARE TEARS IN MY EYES. BUT.
Tumblr media
This is still Eddie in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Someone send that bit about Chim to Kenneth Choi I think he'd find it hysterical.
Tumblr media
BEHOLD. CHIMNEY HAN. Look at those EARS.
I also personally could see Chim as a greyhound or a whippet.
Tumblr media
Chim's just got this fastness about him that makes me think of that kind of dog. Is this me remembering how he literally just SPRINTED away from Albert while playing basketball because he panicked about lying? Maybe. You can't prove anything.
I had to remind myself what a Chow Chow is and OHMYGOD IT'S SO FLUFFY???
Tumblr media
However I always saw Hen as a Great Pyrenees.
Tumblr media
These things will fuck you UP. They're flock dogs but not in the Border Collie sense. They don't herd. They kill the predators that try to go after the flock. They will chase down the wolves and destroy them. And they are super super SUPER protective of and gentle with kids. They ADORE kids. So that's my two cents there!
Tumblr media
Ohmygod Maddie is SUCH a Border Collie.
Tumblr media
INCH resting that you say Standard Poodle for Karen...
Tumblr media
Poodles are actually what my mom grew up with and she's always talked about how smart and wonderful they are, she's owned three in her lifetime and adores them. I know they kinda have this stereotype of being snooty but I think they're great and they ARE so fucking smart holy shit. They're smarter than some humans I've met.
However. Chris.
Tumblr media
I'm gonna have to fight you (lovingly) on this one, Nonny.
I will say that when I googled this dog I laughed so fucking hard my ribs hurt. I CRIED.
They are very cute as puppies!
Tumblr media
However. I must counter-argue and say that Christopher is...
Tumblr media
AN ENGLISH CREAM DACHSHUND
*sobbing* look at how CUTE it is!!!!!
Tumblr media
*continues sobbing over the cute*
Anyway thus concludes the nonny's opinions, and mine! I had a good laugh over this series of asks, thank you nonny. I hope you had a good weekend.

YOU WERE LIGHTING FLARES CHAPTER FOUR: I'M INTERTWINED, AND RUNNING BLIND [1.2 | pining oblivious idiots] {ao3} prev. first.
Eddie was looking over his chart when Buck’s eyes crept open. And his voice barely a whisper comes out,
“Aren’t you supposed to be takin’ care of tiny babies?”
“Not when big babies get themselves crushed by fire trucks,” he says with a small smile. “I'm on break.”
“Hey, I’m not a baby,” Buck tries to gasp but it ends in a coughing fit that has Eddie rushing up to help him with the water cup.
When the cough has subsided Buck looks up at Eddie with wide wet blue eyes, he looks five years younger, as he grasps Eddie’s arm,
“I- I still have my leg right?” the tears start to bead the unasked question embedded in it the look in his eye, “I haven’t dared to look. it still feels like it’s there but-“
“Hey, baby, no” Eddie swallows past the mistake, “scarred to hell and back but your leg is right where you saw it last. Okay? Christopher is going to be so excited to draw on your cast, and be your crutch buddy.” he smiles wetly running a hand through Buck’s curls.
“Eddie?”
“Hmm?”
“When can I hold the babies again? I don't want to be away too long.”
“Buck,”
“They'll forget me!”
“They’ll never forget you- okay? You are too important, even if they don’t remember your name, or what you look like- the love you give them? It’s integral, it changes who they grow up to be fundamentally. They can’t forget you.” Buck just stares at him, pleading, as if it’s not just about the babies. It's about him. Which Eddie supposes it is.
“I'll check with Miranda and your doctor and we’ll come up with a plan so all of you can be safe, oaky?”
Buck nods, and winces.
“It hurts.”
“I know. I'll get your nurse to get you some pain relief. and get some sleep okay? I’ll be back when my shift is over.” He runs his hand through Buck’s curls one more time and resists the urge to place a kiss on his forehead.
He leans in the doorway, watching Maddie fret over Buck who rolls his eyes every time she tries to fluff his pillow. and Buck spots him and shoots him a playful “save me” look so he lurches forward and enters the room properly.
He gives Maddie a tight hug and tells her to go get some coffee or even go home for a few minutes. She worries at her lip slightly before turning to Buck for permission. He shoos her off with a smile.
It's quiet for a minute. Eddie taps his foot.
“So, did you mean to call me baby earlier today?” Buck shatters the silence and Eddie nearly falls out of his chair.
“wh-what? I- you remember that?”
“Yeah I do? and I'm asking if you meant it.”
“I just, it just sorta slipped out cause you were so upset. It was a reflex.” Eddie swallows past the omission. It was a reflex because I care about you. because I think I might just be a little bit in love with you.
“Oh. Okay." Eddie thinks he imagines the hurt and disappointment.
Seconds tick by. Buck seems to be studying the cheap bland generic painting that hangs opposite Eddie.
“So, I talked to Miranda,” Buck turns his head towards him, finally, “she said as soon as you are cleared for a wheelchair and of any infection you can come by- as long as your doctor signs off on it.”
Buck smiles, really smiles, for the first time in what feels like days.
“How are they doing? I miss them.”
“There is only so much I can say, but they are all doing really well. Celia went home.”
Buck grins widely.
And Eddie finds that there are tears welling in the corners of his eyes.
Buck grabs his hand and squeezes it tight.
“Hey.”
“You scared me. You’re not allowed to do that again. I can’t- I know it’s not your fault some kid wanted revenge. But you scared me. And I thought I would have to face Christopher again-“
“Hey, hey, hey- I'm right here. I can't make promises. But for right now, I'm not going anywhere.”
Buck is sitting on the couch, like he always is these days. Sometimes Chris will come over either with Eddie or Carla so he’s not alone and isolated in the apartment when he doesn’t have PT. Hearing that it would be a month or two before he could go back to holding babies in his free time had hit him hard. Especially while he was also not working. He barely felt like a person anymore without those things.
And for the first time in the two weeks since he was discharged and settled back at home- he and Eddie's schedules line up so that Eddie isn’t working and he doesn't have PT. Eddie had been telling him that he has an idea that will keep him occupied while he can't come into the hospital like usual. Buck was skeptical but curious.
Eddie walks in, sans Christopher since he has a playdate with Denny and Harry, and sets a Trader Joe’s tote on the couch next to him. Soft skeins of yarn are poking out of the bag along with a few knitting needles.
“How is it that we have slept in the same bed, and yet I am still learning new things about you?” Eddie looks at him, the glasses that Buck had found out about the first late night spent at the Diaz house unexpectedly, resting on his nose. His eyes are calm as he just shrugs lightly and sits cross legged on the couch next to Buck.
Buck no longer has any attention to pay toward the soft sitcom playing on the tv as Eddie picks up what has to be a tiny hat, placing it in his lap and clicking the needles together, he isn’t even really looking, his eyes on the tv, only looking down occasionally while he adjusts the tension of the working yarn.
“You knit!” It's a kind and exciting observation.
“I knit for babies,” Eddie deadpans, letting his hands rest.
“You say that like it makes it less endearing and heartwarming.”
“Yeah, well, it started as a coping mechanism for the PTSD induced insomnia and just spiraled from there. I mostly knit for…” he pauses as a look passes over his face, “for the ones we can’t help.”
Buck grabs Eddie's knee, grounding him back down to the present.
“It helps to know they have something cozy.”
“You really are something Eddie Diaz. I hope you know that, deep down, you are so” he pauses as he gets Eddie to look at him, “You are good.”
Eddie looks at him with shining wide honey whiskey eyes, “no one has ever told me that before? It’s been implied, and Frank has told me so much in the therapy way- But god, hearing it from you? It-” Eddie swallows, “I just, I don’t know how to respond to that.”
“You don’t have to, as long as you believe it. Believe it for me.”
Eddie bites his lips and nods, and it's quiet for a moment.
“So, you teaching me to knit or what?” Buck says brightly to pull it back into their usual rhythm of banter.
Eddie leaves the apartment, leaving a ball of yarn and a set of needles for Buck.
Buck sends him a text the second he’s out of his eyeline.
To: eddie 🩺 whenever you need a reminder. im here.

Post a traumatic reveal - Jack and Maddie try to mend things with their son and Jazz but is it too little too late?
Oh God angst hours (why must you do this to me Ty why??? why must you torture me so????? 💜)
---
"Mads..." Jack says, from the last step into the lab. Not that he doesn't want to get closer, but there's a large spill of hissing ectoplasm eating through the tile between him and where Maddie sits in a heap.
Papers, broken glass, and all sorts of wires and puddling liquids splay out around her.
She holds a single photograph in her hands.
"Where did we go wrong?" She mumbles.
Jack doesn't have an answer for that.
The house has been quiet since they left.
Still in a way that it has never been.
Cold.
He looks over the lab.
Over his life's work.
His gaze lingering on the portal.
Closed now, sealed off.
But something about it.
There's something that's tingling the back of his mind.
Jack looks at the acidic ectoplasm at his feet.
At how wide a puddle it is.
He moves up a few steps before using his momentum down to jump the expanse.
Maddie flinches, a gun in her hand and leveled with his heart.
Jack freezes.
"Oh," her voice breaks.
He straightens to his full height.
The gun clatters to the floor.
"I didn't- I'm sorry- that was-" she mumbles, shaking.
He swallows.
It's not the first time he's been on the wrong end of one of her guns.
It is the first time he felt scared though.
He thinks of his son.
How he must have felt every day for the past however many months.
It's so obvious now.
Looking back.
Maddie holds her head, face against her knees, mumbles of apologies and half broken promises filling the silence.
Jack looks over her head.
At the portal.
Jazz took the speeder, flying it through that night.
He remembers the face she made.
Of cold determination.
And worry.
He knew his baby girl.
His Jazzerincess.
Or at least, he thought he knew.
The face she made when she saw him.
He's never seen that face before.
Blank.
That hurt more.
Jack opens the portal.
"Jack?" Maddie's voice calls after him.
He stares at the swirling green.
Achingly familiar.
"Jack? What are you-"
Oh.
"We killed him."
"I don't understand," Maddie moves behind him.
"Our portal, it killed him," Jack turns. He can't look at her. He blinks, tears running down his cheek as he stares at the wall. "We killed our little boy."
"That's not-"
"Can't you see it?!" He shouts, finally whirling the full way around. Arm flung out in the direction of the portal. "His eyes are the same green!"
Maddie blinks up at him from where she's still on the floor.
"It all lines up-"
"You can't honestly think that thing's eyes-"
"That thing is our son. Our son who we threatened. Who we shot at, who you nearly killed-"
"Don't you dare put this all on me," she gets to her feet. "You're the one who wanted to tear it apart molecule by-"
"Before I knew he was my son! Why can't you-"
"That thing is not my little boy-"
They stop.
Horror drawn on Jack's face.
Shock realization on Maddie's.
He turns away.
"Jack-"
"Don't," he closes his eyes. Fresh tears running down his face, "If you can't accept him as he is, then that's it."
"Jack let's talk about this, we can discuss this," she grabs his arm.
Putting a hand over hers, he pulls away, pushing her back.
"No, I'm going to find my kids and make things right."
"You can't be thinking of following them, it not safe."
"Jazz went willingly, without hesitation," he says, holding a hand up against the swirling green.
"But the readings show-"
"It doesn't matter, I'm going to find them." His hand turns to a fist, pulling back slightly.
"You don't know what's past there, you don't have any protections, no weapons, no supplies."
"Then so be it, I'm Jack Fenton, I'll figure it out."
He doesn't wait for her response, walking into the swirling green.

✨wishes✨ for Buddie for the prompts thing 💕
Thank you Bekka! here's a little post christmas fluff. I was a little tempted to just answer with the baby fic since it fit the wishing part of the prompt, but I ended up writing this instead, I hope you like it!
29. Wishes
Buck would never dare to call himself lucky, no one who had met him would call him lucky, he was very accident prone adjacent and while some called him reckless, he swears he would just got hurt sometimes, it wasn't always his fault - like how was he to know the truck had a bomb in it, or that a tsunami was going to hit the pier the day he decided to take Chris there.
So not lucky, not even an ounce of luck; he, however, had a talent for guessing things that would happen to him, one of his past hookups had called it "manifestation" but Buck never thought much about it, he just knew that sometimes he would say shit like "damn, I wish I had an ice cream" and then Maddie would show up at their parents’ house with a pint of their favorite flavors on hand, or they'd be at the station and Buck would wish for a movie to be on, only to turn on the tv and find out that it was actually on. It was stupid shit always, which was one of the reasons he had never really thought much about a pattern.
Until Chim pointed out at the Christmas party on Bobby's house.
"Stop!" He said just as Buck finished saying I wish, "you say that and things come true, it's freaky"
"No, they don't" Buck argued, knowing out of all of them Chim was the most superstitions one.
"They kinda do, Buck" Maddie added before Buck could argue more with Chim "They have since we were kids, you just usually ask for very simple things"
Buck laughed "Mads, c'mon, I'm not magical or anything like that"
"I'm not saying magical, but I don't know Buck, you have a way of always getting what you wish for"
Maddie shrugged, and Buck decided to drop the conversation just as a very familiar laugh captured his attention.
Unlike last Christmas, Eddie was having a great time at the 118 Christmas reunion; he had been tasked with helping Bobby man the grill, and was currently talking with Bobby as they both shown Harry and Chris the ins and outs of a well done cut of steak. Buck couldn't help the smile on his own face at the sight of Eddie and Chris so happy and at ease.
He didn't say it out loud - he didn't want to deal with teasing smiles and knowing smirks from his sister and Chim - but he wished that Eddie was his, really his, and that he got to raise Chris alongside him and not just if the worst came to happen.
The wish left his head as soon as it had entered when Eddie turned to look at him, smile still bright and big on his face, and nodded at him, asking him to come over with a small movement of his head; Buck of course, excused himself and joined them at the grill.
He barely left Eddie's side for the rest of the party, climbing into his truck at the end of the night and going home with them; he told himself it was to pick up his jeep and go home, but he knew that Eddie would ask him to stay for a beer, and then a beer would turn into two, and then Buck would be spending the night in the couch and having an early breakfast with the them next morning.
"Come in?" Eddie asked, just as Buck had predicted, just a little shyer than usual, like he thought Buck might say no; as if he'd ever say no to him.
"Yeah" Buck answered and followed him inside.
The tree was still up even though it was already past Christmas, closer to the New Year’s than Christmas really - it was the only day the entire team could get together and they decided to extend the Christmas spirit a little longer - empty of gifts too, but with lights still shinning in a coordinated blinking of rainbow colors, Buck watched it quietly as Eddie helped Chris into bed.
"Hey" Eddie said softly a few minutes later, Buck turned to see him "It seems like you've chosen the worst place to stand in the house"
Buck frowned before looking up, remembering the mistletoe Chris had made them hang up right before Christmas eve, they had put it in the middle of the living room ‘cause no one ever stood there. Buck laughed.
"Well, I'm alone here, so, no biggie" He said shrugging, watching as Eddie bit his lip for a second before walking to join him under it "Eds?" he asked, breathless and confused.
"Not alone anymore" A couple of shaking hands made their way to Buck's hips and Buck felt his heartbeat double its efforts. "This okay?"
"It depends"
"On?"
"What it means to you" Buck whispered, still working on believing that apparently Eddie wanted to be under the mistletoe with him. It seemed too good to be true.
"Buck," Eddie started with a smile on his face "It means I want to kiss you, because I love you, and I'm tired of thinking I can't have this, when I'm almost sure I can"
"Eddie" Buck felt himself smiling, happy tears at the edge of his eyes "Eddie" He kept repeating Eddie's name like that was enough, like this wasn't the moment he had been wishing for...
Buck took a step back from Eddie, pulling away from his embrace, almost like he had been burned by his touch.
This was everything he had wished for.
His wishes always came true.
This wasn't real. Eddie couldn't love him, not really.
This was just some twisted wish came true, taking away whatever Eddie really felt for him.
"Buck? everything okay?" Eddie asked concerned, a small frown forming in between his eyebrows.
"This isn't real" Buck admitted, the tears on his eyes now ones of regret and guilt "I wished... I wished you'd be mine"
"And I am, isn't that good?"
Buck shook his head "You aren't, not really, whatever keeps granting my wishes did this, you don't really feel this"
"Alright you've lost me, what wish?"
Buck took a deep breath and let himself fall into Eddie's couch "Earlier today, I wished for you to be mine" Eddie nodded, sitting at the opposite edge of the couch "And my wishes always come true, Maddie had just told me that they have been since I was a kid, and Chim thought it was freaky, but then you caught my attention and I just, I saw you and I wished you were mine, and now we're here"
Eddie shook his head "Buck, this isn't some wish come true" He moved to sit a little closer to Buck, without touching him "I just felt brave enough today, but I've loved you for months now, probably years" He continued "all this time I've been telling myself that I couldn't have you, that you didn't want this, that you deserved better; but today I saw you under the mistletoe and I just, I had to kiss you"
"Are you sure?"
Eddie nodded "I swear, this had been brewing inside of me for a long time"
Buck looked at him for a moment, searching on his face for anything that might tell him Eddie wasn't being himself, but all he found was love, and a little exasperation.
"Okay"
"Yeah?" Eddie waited for Buck to nod before standing up and offering him his head "Can I have my mistletoe kiss now?"
"It's not Christmas anymore"
Eddie huffed, pulling him up "Shut up and Kiss me already"
Buck laughed but happily complied, leaning down to join their lips together in a soft kiss, both taking their time to savor the other, mapping each other's mouth until they ran out of air; resting their foreheads together to catch their breaths.
"I gotta admit though" Eddie said "That kiss was a wish come true"
Buck groaned and punched him on the arm without letting go of him "I hate you"
Eddie laughed "No, you don't"
"I really don't" He replied with a big smile on his face, one that Eddie kissed away.

Common sense has chased Eclipse his whole life but he's always been faster
ASDFJGfklgj
I LOVE THAT
~~~~~
Callie stood out in front of her house, the snow melting on her shoes. She rubbed her forehead, eyes closed, and let out a long sigh.
"Okay," she said, and she sounded so, so very tired. "Tell me again how this happened."
Silver looked up at her, then over to his brother. Eclipse stood in the snow, brow furrowed, and tongue stuck to the frozen metal post of her mailbox.
"Eclipse got his tongue stuck," the hedgehog said with a shrug. Callie flicked her eyes down to him, one brow raised.
"I can see that. What I want to know is how. Why. Because my brain is having a very hard time picturing any scenario in which even you, my darling darkling child, would think this is a good idea."
Eclipse uttered a grunt, annoyed at being questioned.
"Ah anted oo no ith ih as poo."
Callie dropped her hand to look at her youngest. "What?"
"He said he wanted to know if it was true," Silver said, tucking his hands into his hoodie pocket.
"If what was true?"
"Ith ur dung thtuck to a poh ehn ith's told."
"If your tongue stuck to a pole when it's cold." At Callie's ongoing confusion, Silver continued. "Like the movie we saw the other night. With the kid and the bb gun? How that one kid was dared to stick his tongue to the pole at school?"
Callie nodded. Ah. Now it made sense.
Well, now she knew the catalyst, anyway.
"And you couldn't just ask me if it was true? You had to come out and try it yourself?"
The darkling uttered another annoyed grunt, and spit out a string of unintelligible words that even Silver shrugged at. Callie held up her hand to try and silence the boy.
"Okay, okay, calm down," she soothed. "I'm going to go get some warm water and we'll get you off there. Don't pull. I'll be back in a minute."
She uttered another long sigh as she climbed the steps back into the house.
Life with alien children was certainly never boring.
One alien child in particular.
~X~X~X~
Eclipse watched his mom head back into the house with a grunt.
Why did she always seem so frustrated with him? He had a question, he sought out the answer. She was always glad to indulge their curiosity normally, but whenever he gets his tail caught in a soda bottle, or his head stuck in between the banister spindles, or his tongue stuck to the mailbox post, all of a sudden it's bad.
He didn't want to wait until she got back with water. What did he need water for anyway? He wasn't thirsty. Besides, water freezes in cold weather and he didn't want to be more stuck to this thing. So he pulled back, trying to yank his tongue free.
Beside him, Silver gave a loud gasp.
"Don't! Mom said not to pull!"
"Ah on't are! Ah ant oth!"
"She said she'd get some water to get you off!"
"Ah on't yeed ater!"
Eclipse tried pulling, but his tongue was stuck fast. And it started to hurt when he pulled too hard, so he quit with a frustrated growl.
Okay, so he couldn't pull himself free. And it was getting really cold out here, he wanted to go in.
Sooooo . . .
Silver's eyes went wide. "What are you doing?? Don't! You're gonna get in so much trouble--"
Eclipse saw a problem. And he solved it.
~X~X~X~
Callie stood at the sink, waiting for the water to warm up. She'd have to ask Maddie if her boys ever did something like this. Unlikely, but it wasn't entirely outside the realm of possibility. Maybe.
A loud crash made her jump, and she rushed to the front door in time to see Eclipse dragging the mailbox post, still stuck to his tongue, across the porch. He'd snapped it off at the base, the sharp ragged metal end gouging a groove into the wooden floor. He awkwardly held the mailbox in his hands, making it ever so slightly easier for him to move.
"I told him not to Mom!" Silver was saying from behind the darkling. "I said he would get into trouble!"
Eclipse seemed to take offense at that little tattle, and turned to begin arguing with his brother. The post swung with him, and smashed into the front door, leaving a dent and deep scratches in the paint.
Callie stood and watched the scene with wide eyes. Then she turned to head back into the kitchen.
It's gonna be one of those days.
Perspective flip for any one of the rewrite fics (I love that series)
stuck chapter 10
Bobby didn’t consider himself a stupid man.
Still, even Athena had laughed in his face when he asked her in a quiet voice - once the shock of the day had worn off and he had scrubbed his hands raw in an effort to clean Buck’s blood off of them - just how long Buck and Eddie had been a thing. “Long before they started working together.” Athena had said decisively and then narrowed her gaze at him in suspicion. “Don’t you go saying anything but support, Bobby.”
He had been offended at the suggestion. “Why would I?” He asked with a blush.
“After all they’ve been through,” Athena told him sternly. “They don’t deserve to have to explain themselves to you.”
So Bobby wasn’t planning on asking, really he wasn’t.
He hadn’t been planning, either, on running into Eddie at the hospital.
He shouldn’t have been shocked. He wouldn’t have been able to leave Athena’s side if it were here in Buck’s place (and it certainly made things look very similar to how they had been when Bobby had first met Eddie, actually. After the allergic reaction, with Eddie curling his body around Buck’s longer one as if to shield him from view. Teasing instead of condemning, looking at him the same way Bobby had noticed him looking at Buck every single day.). Bobby paused, lingered by the window into the room. “He looks worse than he is.” Maddie said from the end of the hallway, her voice shaky and eyes watery but her smile real and bright.
Bobby could see Buck in her - they had the same smile, the same sparkle in their eyes, the same fighting spirit. She had a coffee cup in her hand, steam curling up to wrap itself around her chin, and her phone in the other, the screen lit up to show her background - a picture taken what must have been not too long ago, the Buckley twin smiles on both her and Buck’s faces, a ferris wheel in the background (they had gone to the pier, Bobby remembered because he had run into them there, Athena and the kids on a ride and Bobby taking a break from the crowd by the railing. Neither of them had noticed him at first then and Bobby had been able to observe, the way he always did, how Maddie wrapped her arm through Buck’s, stole his backwards ballcap to pluck onto her own head and kissed his cheek.). “Has he woken up yet?” Bobby asked because he didn’t know what else to say.
Athena waved Maddie into her side, squeezed her tight around the shoulders and held her there, strong and comforting. “No.” Maddie shook her head with a frown. “But the doctors said that we’re just waiting on the sedation to wear off.”
“Looks plenty awake to me.” Athena snorted and nodded towards the window they were huddled around.
Bobby flushed and Maddie coughed into a laugh. Bobby was okay with a lot of things - he didn’t care who Buck dated, who Eddie slept with, what any member of his crew did. That didn’t mean he wanted to see it.
“He…” Maddie cleared her throat, her cheeks a light pink, and looked curiously at Bobby. “He’s really happy.” Her expression turned begging, a hint of threatening, even. She narrowed her eyes and swept her gaze down his height before meeting him head on. Courageous and daring. “He deserves to be happy, okay? Don’t mess that up for him.”
The threat was clear. The meaning behind it even clearer. Bobby’s opinion mattered, for one reason or another. He was Buck’s superior, his Captain, maybe even his friend.
He would never do anything to… to threaten that happiness.
Bobby nodded. “I wouldn’t dare.”
Besides, who was he to judge? Bobby was the reason why Buck was in that hospital bed in the first place, the reason why his happiness was threatened, the reason why he almost lost more than months of recovery. They were lucky, Bobby knew, that they didn’t have to bury any of their crew-mates. No one should have gotten hurt in the first place, but Freddy Costa had wanted to hurt someone and he had, unknowingly, hurt the one person who… who Bobby was pretty sure he wouldn’t recover from losing on the team.
That wasn’t fair. Bobby loved all of his firefighters - Hen was a wonderful friend, Chimney was one of the people Bobby was closest to, Eddie was a single father that Bobby respected more than he had words for. But Buck… there was something special about him. Something about the way he took to life that reminded Bobby what it was like to live. He hadn’t had much when he took over as captain for the 118 - nothing but bravado and a hope to repent for all of the death and destruction he had caused back in Minnesota. Buck could have washed out so easily, under the wrong leadership he would have. He challenged Bobby every step of the way. But he was one of the best Bobby had had the pleasure of working with. He had heart.
His heart, apparently (from what Bobby had overheard in the back of an ambulance), belonged to Eddie Diaz (who Bobby had seen cry when Buck said the words. It was true, then, in a way that Bobby feared most things in the world weren’t. It wasn’t fake, it wasn’t a fluke, it wasn’t a game. It was the sort of all consuming love that Bobby had thought, once, only came once.).
(He had thought parental love, parental fear, could only be extended to the children he had shared DNA with too, once.
He was wrong about that too.
Bobby had felt the gut twisting fear he did when Buck was trapped under the engine once before. He thought it was pretty terrible of him that he was glad this had a different outcome. He would do anything for Robby and Brooke to be back again - he wouldn’t trade Buck to make that happen.)
Softly, he knocked his knuckles against the doorway and, slowly, Eddie pulled back, his hand still as gentle as Bobby had ever seen it against Buck’s scraped up cheek. They passed something between them softly and Eddie’s eyes met his with barely an ounce of anything but relief in them. “Hey,” Eddie’s fingers tapped Buck’s cheek until he was blinking his blue eyes open. “Look who’s here.”
911 Fic: Outnumbered
Buck and kids - need i say more? It was an idea that wouldn't leave my head. I played a little bit with the canon timeline to make this work.
~ 800 words
__________________________
Buck’s day off goes from 0-60 mph so fast he’s not exactly sure how it happens. Well, that’s not true. He intellectually knows how it happens. But…he’s still confused.
It starts with him offering to hang out with Chris for the day. Eddie decided to take an extra shift and Buck never says no to hanging out with his best boy. He has plans for them to play video games, eat too much pizza and ice cream, and prank call Eddie as often as they can get away with.
…and then Maddie calls.
“Josh is way too many people short today.” She says in a panic and Buck can hear from the noise on her end that she’s in the car, “Chimney’s in Sacramento for that conference and I’ve got no one to watch Jee…”
She trails off and Buck laughs, “Just come drop her off.”
It may not have been the day he planned, but hanging with his best boy AND his best girl is hardly a hardship. Maddie barely gets out her ‘thank you’ as she kisses him on the cheek after handing him the baby and the diaper bag and then she’s out the door.
Buck turns to his niece, who is putting her hands on his cheeks and giggling, and smiles, “You ready for a fun day with your uncle and your cousin?”
…and then Hen calls.
“Maddie tells me you have Jee?” She says without saying hello.
“Hi to you too.” He says as he watches Chris attempt to teach Jee patty cake.
“Yeah. Hi. Look, Jee and Nia were supposed to have a playdate today because Karen and I are going to a spa.” She explains.
“Uhhhh…” Buck says.
“I would owe you so much if you’d watch Nia for us.” She says when he continues to hesitate.
“Can’t you…reschedule?” He asks. It’s not that he doesn’t want to see Nia, she’s adorable, but having two kids under the age of two in the apartment? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
“They won’t let us reschedule. We’d be losing out so much.” Hen answers, “Please Buck.”
Buck really needs to learn how to say ‘no’. Especially when Hen drops Nia off and Denny (who they had been planning on dropping off with another family friend) sees that Christopher is also at the apartment.
A round of puppy dog eyes later (Denny to Hen and Hen to Buck) means that Buck now has two nine-year-olds and two 18-month-olds in his apartment. He’s severely outnumbered.
…and then Denny calls Harry.
Buck’s not sure what is worse - having to stop Nia and Jee from using permanent marker on his kitchen cabinets or having to stop three tween boys from daring each other to see who can jump off the highest stair going up to Buck’s loft (he has no interest in earning the Ms. Flores treatment if he allows Christopher to get hurt on his watch).
He loses track of time and the amount of food he doles out. He actually runs out of food and has to offer Harry two crackers and a single slice of bologna when the boy says he’s hungry later in the afternoon.
If he makes it through this day…it will be a miracle.
– – –
Chris opens the door when Eddie knocks.
“Uhhhhh hey buddy.” Eddie says in confusion, reaching for his son’s backpack and slinging it over his own shoulder, “Where’s Buck? You shouldn’t be answering the door by yourself.”
“I saw on Buck’s phone that you were here.” Chris explains, “So I knew it was you.”
Eddie nods, “But where’s Buck?”
Chris shuffles backwards and nods his head toward Buck’s living room. Eddie enters the apartment and peaks around the stairs. What he sees makes his heart clench.
Buck’s fast asleep on his couch sitting up but slouched down so his head is on the back of the couch and his feet are on his coffee table. He’s got a fast asleep Jee-Yun on his chest and she has a fist balling up his shirt at his chest.
“It was a busy day.” Chris says, having made his way to his father’s side.
Eddie smiles softly, taking Chris’s backpack off his shoulder, “What do you say we make some dinner for the three of us and let Buck and Jee rest for a while?”
“I don’t think there’s any food left.” Chris says.
Eddie chuckles in disbelief, scrunching his eyebrows for a moment, “I’m really going to need to hear about this day.” He says, “In that case, why don’t we order pizza?”
Chris smiles, “Sounds safer than you cooking anyway.”
Eddie gets a mock offended look on his face before ruffling Chris’ hair and pulling out his phone to call the pizza place. He’ll let Buck and Jee nap until the food gets here.
Animal Trap | Captivity | “No one will find you.”
Character(s) used/mentioned:
-Vanté Ramirez (OC)
-Madsion Maguire (OC belonging to @v-3-ll-1-g-0-r-3)
-Helodite Ramirez (OC)
-Tycen Pierce (OC)
-Rayan Hyacinth (OC belonging to @v-3-ll-1-g-0-r-3 )
A/N: This one’s split into two parts, however, they are not linked in any way. I just had two seperate ideas and made the decision (with @v-3-ll-1-g-0-r-3 ‘s help) to combine them into one post.
===Section 1 - Animal Trap (Vanté, Madison)===
Vanté’s hands shook as he tried to enter Madison’s number into his phone. His leg ached, his skin, the grass, and the metal trap lodged into his flesh, were all stained a crimson red with his own blood.
Of course this had to happen. To him, of all people. He didn’t know who could have set the trap out, or why, considering there was really nothing that large to catch in the area.
Yet here he was, with such a trap locked deep into his leg. He knew that once it was out, he’d regenerate, but he’d be out of commission for at the least a week. He didn’t know how he was going to break the news to Zuriel, who was always up and active.
He was snapped from his thoughts by the sound of Madison’s voice, filtered through the tinny sound of his phone’s speaker.
“Hey, Vee, what’s up?” She asked, sounding a little concerned as Vanté didn’t usually call at this hour.
“M-Mum, you- you gotta help me, I- it hurts, it hurts so fucking bad-“ Vanté whimpered out, his voice rushed and urgent, but Madison stopped him.
“Hey, hey, slow down” She responded. “What hurts? What happened, Vanté?”
“I- my leg-“ He sobbed, frustrated that he was struggling to put the words together. “It’s stuck in a trap, I- I can’t move it, I- please you gotta help-“
“Okay, I’m coming, Vee, just hold on, okay?” She responded. “Stay on the line, don’t you dare pass out on me.”
“O-Okay, okay…” He said, voice shaky and weak. “I’ll- I’ll try.”
“Good kid” She praised. “Just keep talking to me, okay? You’re gonna be alright, just keep talking.”
Vanté sniffled, wiping his teary eyes. “O-Okay, uhm- god, Zuriel isn’t gonna like this-“
“Don’t worry about Zuriel right now, Vee” She responded. “Just tell me where you are.”
“U-Uhm, the- the wildlife reserve, a little off the path.”
“Good, good, you’re doing so good, just keep talking to me.”
It took a while, but eventually, Madison found Vanté, his leg bloodied and mangled from being struck in a game trap set a little off the path.
The sight made her nauseous.
“Vanté!” She cried, rushing to his aid. “Oh, oh my god, it’s okay, I’m here.”
“Maddie-“ He whimpered, coughing softly. “Maddie it hurts-“
“I know, I know, it’s okay.”
===Section 2 - Captivity | “No one will find you.” (Tycen, Helodite (Rayan is briefly mentioned))===
“Oh, look at you” Tycen purred mockingly, and then chuckled, locking the cage once more. “You’re pathetic to think I wouldn’t find you. And now, no one will.”
Helodite whimpered, moving up to the bars on the face of the cage that was closes to Tycen. “..W-What are you saying?”
“I’m saying,” Tycen hummed, “No one will find you. Not your brother, not your supposed ‘Mother’, no one. Nobody, Helodite.”
Tycen then begun to make his way down the hall, which was lined to the ceiling with cages of his victims, or as he called them, his “products”, varying in age, gender, ethnicity, species, and the rest. “Welcome home, Helodite.”
In a last attempt to get a reaction that wasn’t mockery out of him, she yelled down the hall; “yOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS, PIERCE! RAYAN WILL FIND OUT! I KNOW HE WILL!”
Tycen paused, and then sighed. “..I didn’t want to have to call the handler. But it seems you can’t control yourself.”
wip wednesday
thank you for the tag @sibylsleaves 💖 i literally just started working on this fic today. i wanted to oneshot it and get it done in one sitting, but that never happens to me so maybe i’ll finish it by friday? a lil buddie fic about buck’s chronic leg pain and winter
The first time Buck remembers seeing snow he was four years old.
It was a grey Saturday morning in mid-November, where Buck blinked his eyes open just as the early morning sun started peeking through his window. He was always the first one awake in the house on Saturday mornings. It’s the only time the house hummed with a quiet that didn't feel suffocating or overwhelming. From his nest of blankets he could see the scatter of something soft and white falling in the distance. He flung the covers back, eyes wide as saucers as he pressed his face against the glass to see the ground covered in what looked like a dusting of powder sugar. He was banging down Maddie’s door with excitement only moments later.
“This is snow,” Maddie said as she scooped up a heaping size of the white stuff in her hand, packing it down until it formed a lumpy shape.
“Snow.” Buck said as he reached out with bare fingers, shivering, teeth clacking together as he grinned up at his sister. “I like it.”
Maddie smiled, a small thing that even then Buck could see how it didn’t fully reach her eyes. Like there was something sad or heavy lingering.
“It’s a Buckley sibling thing,” Maddie said after sometime, shaking one of the pine branches gently so a cascade of flakes floated down over their wool hats.
“You like the snow too?” Buck asked.
“It’s my favorite part about the winter.” Maddie answered, brushing the snow from his curls poking out over his forehead.
“Mine too.”
Snow days were Buck’s favorite as a kid. Bundling up in layers and running around building snowmen and forts, throwing snowballs and creating snow angels in the front yard. They’d end the day curled up in Maddie’s bed with mugs of hot chocolate watching Christmas movies on the television sitting on her dresser. Despite always running hot, Buck would bundle up in hoodies and socks, keeping his body heat from escaping into the cold and bitter parts of their house, even when he became uncomfortable and overheated. Winter, Buck found, provided the easiest way he could accidentally get hurt. Icy sidewalks for slipping. Snowboarding down the dangerous parts of the hill as dares from his friends. There was one time, when he was sixteen, when one of the guys from the football team was driving him home late at night. The car skidded on black ice and Buck ended up with twenty stitches.
When he first got to Los Angeles he missed the snow. Winter was the only kind of quiet that Buck ever learned to love. The same quiet that woke him up on Saturday mornings before everyone else.
And then his leg got crushed beneath a ladder truck and Buck quickly learned that even winter can scream.
it started snowing here today and i just have a lot of feelings about cold and chronic pain (buck’s chronic leg pain can be something so personal)
anyway i will tag @outtoshatter @evanesdust @colonoscopys @pettyeddiediaz @triskel-samulet and @henswilsons
WIP Wednesday
Here's to another canon divergence no one was looking for, and still ain't (and shouldn't). I'm a hoe for the drama of that whole arc, what can I say?
Working title: No Love Letters
Basic idea: Buck returns to the 118 after the lawsuit, all the more unsure of his standing at the station and with his friends. Sadly, someone seeks to take advantage of that, leaving some none too kind messages feeding right into some of Buck’s worst insecurities. Can his friends get through to him before it is too late?
Find out more here: Part 1
Buck stares at the wrapped boxes sitting on the kitchen island. He spent way too many hours wrapping them carefully last night. It seemed like a nice idea to distract himself from the letters. From his damn life right now. But after the one he found earlier today, Buck finds the glittery bows and colorful paper only mocking.
Christopher’s birthday is next Monday. Eddie didn’t say anything to him, so he is not sure whether there is a party, and if there is if he’s supposed to come. If he’d even be welcome anymore. And Buck was too afraid to ask Eddie or anyone about it. He spent restless hours, going back over the scarce conversations they’ve had. To make sure he didn’t miss a subtle cue somewhere down the line. Because subtlety is not his forte.
At least that was his worry until he opened his locker to the message that narrowed his world down to close to nothing. Now Buck knows he is not supposed to be anywhere near Christopher. So yes, the bows and papers are mocking him, hard.
Fear after fear after fear is breathed into existence, to make it less a fear than another sad part of his reality. Before, he could at least tell himself that it was an irrational thing, that he just felt that way, but that it wasn’t real.
But now it’s real.
It’s real and it hurts, even though it won’t bruise, won’t bleed, even though he does it so easily these days.
Just like that, he feels like a small kid again, not knowing how to make his parents see how much he hurt unless he did indeed bruise, bleed, break.
Buck wants to drink himself to oblivion. He wants to punch something till his knuckles are bloody and the pain too much to take. He wants Maddie to hug him and tell him that everything is going to be okay again. He wants Chim and Hen to joke with him like they used to, call him Buckaroo with that fond expression he treasured in a small chest in his heart. He wants Bobby to squeeze his shoulder and drop some wisecrack to set him straight. He wants Christopher to giggle at him to make him forget his demons and let himself be blinded by that shining light. He wants Eddie to forgive him, smile that certain smile at him that always had Buck believe that he had a place in that man’s life, now earned or not.
He wants it all, right now, all at once, but none are happening.
Because he is alone, by the end of the day.
Because that is what he returns to, an empty apartment with only his own presence to fill it. Which isn’t much. Definitely not enough.
Because of the lawsuit, because of what it got twisted into.
And now Buck has no family anymore, other than Maddie. And even her he’ll eventually have to push to the sidelines of his life. Because she is with Chimney, happy with Chimney, looking towards a future. And he is done dragging her down with his own issues. Because Maddie deserves to have her happiness with Chim at long last. Because they are each other’s something, their little everything.
Some time back, Buck likened himself to be at least a little bit something in Eddie’s life. Not just Christopher’s, but Eddie’s in particular. Eddie is his best friend, someone who stuck with him even when he was being all of himself and too much of it. Eddie said there’d be no one he’d trust more with Christopher than him. And Buck still dares to think that Eddie meant it. But maybe he can’t anymore, after he betrayed that trust. Because Eddie expected him to be there. And he wasn’t. And now he’s alone again, wondering why.
Kind of stupid if you think about it, right?
Buck managed to push himself to the sidelines of Eddie’s life with the stupid lawsuit. It’s plain, obvious, bleak. Right on the nose. And that even though Buck thought he was actually heading the right direction – until he ran into the damn brick wall he built with his own damn hands.
Before the stupid lawsuit, that is.
There was that sweet, okay, maybe bitter-sweet, spot after the tsunami and before he talked to Chase Mackey for the first time. Buck felt like he’d manage somehow. Because he had Christopher and Eddie.
Eddie had rewarded him with something Buck didn’t know he needed until the other man had given it with the gentlest of touches, never expecting anything in return: A place in his life that wasn’t just the narrow distance between colleagues or good friends.
It was suddenly so palpable for Buck. That he could show up uninvited and still be invited inside, no questions asked. That it was very much possible to climb out of bed and find Eddie already inside his apartment, munching breakfast he’d brought along the way to pick him up for some early workout together. That he wasn’t alone.
Because he had Eddie.
In that bitter-sweet spot, Buck thought that maybe he could figure out that other issue that had been bubbling up in his stomach for longer than he cared to admit. Things that had started likely much earlier, in fact. Back when he was still being a rotten, petulant child about Abby going away, fearing that Eddie would take his spot.
He had tried to put those feelings off as being needy for attention after his breakup with Ali, too, but she disappeared fast from his mind. And all there was was Eddie and Christopher. Coming back from PT exhausted and drained, sagging down on the sofa with them, Chris sandwiched in the middle, watching cartoons and forgetting about the pain in his leg. So long he was in their orbit, it felt like his stars aligned. And that was enough. In fact, it turned out to be more than Buck could ever wish for.
Suddenly, there was a spotlight on Eddie and Christopher, like a halo almost, a big sign telling him that this is what he wants and that maybe he can have it. Buck just had to go for it and hold on.
A family of his own. With them.
Buck was almost there, he was so damn close. But in true Buck fashion, he managed to fuck up the one good thing that may have pulled him even though the personal low of losing his job, his purpose.
Because maybe that could have been enough. Buck was enough for that, right? Being there for Eddie and Christopher, being part of their lives. He didn’t have to act, didn’t have to pretend to be anyone less bothersome. He was loud and unapologetically himself, and that was fine with them. They were, too. They were themselves together, and to Buck, it felt like it all was falling back into place.
Got greedy though, huh? See where that got you. See where it gets you every damn time.
Buck was almost there, so damn close, before he fucked it all up. He was so close to gather the courage and say it, make it real. Because yes, Buck isn’t as courageous about these things as he is on the job he used to do, to tell Eddie. To tell him all the thing he’d left unsaid, had only ever felt so very intensely that he could barely contain all those big feelings. He was almost there, right within reach.
And now he has a million things left unsaid to Eddie, and Buck doesn’t even know where to begin with that part of himself, even less so if Eddie is indeed behind those letters. If apologies don’t open the door by just a single inch, if Eddie wants to throw the door shut, how is he supposed to squeeze enough of himself into the room to take a deep breath and say it loud and clear, unapologetically, hoping for the best:
Eddie, you’re more to me than just a colleague or my best friend. You were there for me when I didn't know how to put myself back together. You showed up for me. It was you, all along. You and Christopher are everything to me. I love Chris as though he was my own. I love…
Buck’s eyes fall on the printouts from last night, tasting bitterness on his tongue. Transfer papers. He didn’t have intention to fill them out. He just wanted to get his mind used to the idea. To the inevitable now, it’d seem.
But maybe that’s too much wishful thinking.
Transferring means someone would want him instead.
And who’d want a traitor on a team? A family? Right?
Maddie and Lila were back in the living room, alone now, the two of them putting on the k-drama they’d been watching just the night before.
After her shower, Maddie had fixed her face the best she could, not wanting anyone to know how hard she’d been crying in there.
From anger, confusion, hurt, and just frustration.
How dare Hyunjin just leave like that.
Without even talking to Maddie, and giving her the silent treatment instead of answering the same questions he’d thrown in her face.
She’d thought about texting him or calling him; finding a way to go off.
But she knew whenever their next conversation happened, it would have to be in person.
The second she’d opened the door to the bathroom after her shower, Lila had been right on the other side, two mugs of hot chocolate in hand with extra whipped cream, asking if they wanted to camp out in their rooms so she could be alone.
And of course- Maddie had been forever grateful for her best friend.
For a while, the two of them talked, Lila letting Maddie know how absolutely stupid she thought Hyunjin was.
“Giving time for both of you to cool off is one thing, and I get that he needed to feed, but-” Lila had been so irritated, she’d almost spilled her hot chocolate. “I mean, he knows where the extra contracts are, he was totally asking the room in front of you on purpose-”
Maddie had silently agreed, just thankful she wasn’t alone in this annoying, confusing event, and after a while, they’d decided to shift back out into the living room, knowing distraction was always the best medicine.
So now, there they were, Maddie trying her best to pay attention to the k-drama as her mind threatened to wander, Lila right beside her as they shared a bag of popcorn.
To be frank, Maddie just really hated this.
What was she even going to say, when he came back?
When Hyunjin waltzed in there and turned in his contract, some girl’s name signed across the bottom- someone apparently easier to talk to than her- and Maddie had to file it away, marking it down on his chart.
After all the crying and talks, Maddie's main emotion right now was anger.
It was a dick move on his part, to act like this.
Lila was right, he did know where the extra contracts were, and yet he asked the entire room in front of her on purpose.
To make a point.
And what the hell was that accomplishing?
Was he going to run away every time they got into an argument? Find some other girl and hook up with her instead because it’s easier to push Maddie away than to admit to… anything?
Walk around the mansion- where they lived together- not talking to her for three consecutive days, because that was better than saying he was wrong about some things?
And Maddie knew deep down, these thoughts were not one hundred percent fair.
She knew she also hadn’t talked to him for three days, admitted she was wrong or at least admitted her feelings…
Maddie knew that she too was giving Hyunjin the silent treatment, and this was a little out of character for her; she was normally a “let’s talk about this argument now” kind of girl.
But she hadn’t stooped this low.
Hyunjin knew what he’d done would hurt her, and- if she was being honest- that was the part that bothered her the most.
Maddie sighed loudly- standing up from her spot on the sofa and stretching her arms above her head.
“I think I need another hot chocolate…”
Lila’s eyes darted from the TV, eyebrows raised in slight distress.
“Do you want me to make it for you?”
Maddie’s heart warmed- why was she so cute?- laughing softly and shaking her head.
“I got it, thanks,” she replied. “I’ve gotta move around anyway.”
Lila nodded, both of them knowing she wasn’t a person to sit still for very long, and Maddie dropped her arms, walking slowly to the kitchen.
It was empty, and she moved to the counters, feeling heavy with emotion.
This is so stupid
Maddie wondered how long it even took Hyunjin to find a girl anyway; certainly not three hours, considering his track record before they’d started hooking up.
She’d never forget the time Hyunjin found someone, had sex with them, and had them signing a contract all in the time it took them to get snacks at the airport…
Rolling her eyes at the memory of his smug smile when he’d handed over that contract, she wondered why she didn’t heed to the warning signs that were so there from the beginning-
Yanking the cabinet open rather harshly, she started looking around for her favorite Harry Potter mug, knowing it had to be clean since it was with all the dishes yesterday-
“Looking for this?”
Maddie yelped, losing her balance and catching herself on the counter, whirling around and coming face to face with Jeongin, who was standing right beside the kitchen sink.
“Holy-”
She laughed, wondering how many times in a month she could be scared to death in that damn kitchen.
“-when did you come in here?!”
Jeongin chuckled, pointing behind him.
“I just walked in.”
Spotting the mug in his hand, Maddie’s eyes widened with surprise.
“Where did you get that?”
“It was on the drying rack,” he explained, walking closer and handing it over.
She took it delicately, glancing at the mug before smiling at him.
“How did you know this was my favorite?”
She was- once again- charmed by how much Jeongin paid attention to her, wondering how she’d gotten so lucky to know him-
“Hyunjin told me.”
Her softened thoughts came to a screeching halt at his words, Maddie’s eyebrows raising in surprise.
“He did?”
She almost dropped the mug in her surprise, Jeongin chuckling again.
“Yeah,” he shrugged. “I almost put it in the dishwasher last night when we were doing dishes, and Hyunjin stopped me. When I asked why, he said it was your favorite and it won’t change color if you put it in the dishwasher…”
Maddie stared at the black mug in her hands, running her finger along the grooves within the porcelain that would come to life the second she filled it with coffee, showing the Hogwarts castle…
Hyunjin… remembered that?
She bit her lip, stomach clenching anxiously.
“Oh.”
It was all she could say, and for a moment it was quiet between them, Jeongin shifting from one foot to the other.
“Are you okay?”
The question was soft and a little shy, and she looked up at him.
“I’m fine,” she did her best to sound normal, lifting and dropping her shoulders as if everything that had happened the last few days was no big deal.
But Jeongin wasn’t having it, not arguing, but not responding either, just looking at her in that way that had Maddie feeling exposed.
And of course, he knew.
It wasn’t like Jeongin wasn’t there in that living room to witness everything; watch Maddie run off to the bathroom, so obviously crying over Hyunjin…
It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen how the two of them had been avoiding one another since their argument, barely making eye contact, not speaking a word to each other…
It wasn’t like Jeongin hadn’t noticed, in that hallway just two nights ago when he’d told her how he felt, and she hadn’t said anything back…
Yet here he was, asking if she was okay, despite everything.
Despite Maddie- all this time- hanging out with Hyunjin at the same time she hung out with him.
Despite her being so confused that- while she was going on all these outings with Jeongin- she was stupidly falling for Hyunjin…
Things had gotten out of control; Maddie had never wanted this, never wanted- or expected- to get feelings for Hyunjin like that.
And yet…
“I’m sorry…”
The words came tumbling from her lips before she could stop them, eyes meeting his, Jeongin staring back at her.
She was getting choked up again- shit- swallowing hard as she pressed her lips together, feeling so incredibly guilty she felt nauseous-
Their unspoken words now lingered heavy in the air between them; Jeongin here always, Maddie so desperately wanting to like him back enough to choose him.
Jeongin asking her what she wants- if all their time spent together meant more than friendship; Maddie knowing the answer now, but not wanting to say it-
“I never meant to-” she was shifting the mug nervously in her hands. “-to lead you on or- I mean, I didn’t know…”
Her words weren’t coming together right and the lump in her throat was growing.
Because she meant what she said; Maddie had never done any of this on purpose.
Jeongin had been nothing but nice to her from the beginning; a great friend, confidant, someone she could talk to about anything, and made her happy…
She’d enjoyed their time together- always did- and if she had hurt him along the way from her complete obliviousness to her own developing feelings for Hyunjin, she had never meant to-
Jeongin deserved so much better-
He was shaking his head a little, and Maddie knew he could tell she was trying not to cry, smiling sadly.
“It was never gonna be me, Maddie.”
His words were like a stab to the chest, Maddie biting her lip hard enough to bleed, knowing deep down, what he was saying was true-
Hyunjin had always had a hold on her, even when it was just how much he irritated her…
And now she’d opened the door and let him in completely, making her like him despite everything- despite him being with another girl right now-
And even past the reassuring smile and laid-back demeanor, Maddie could see the sadness in Jeongin’s eyes, hating it-
“It should be,” she all but whispered.
Jeongin exhaled shyly, glancing down at their feet.
“You’re amazing, and awesome, and funny, and handsome…”
Maddie swallowed hard.
“And I just… whoever you end up with is going to be so lucky.”
He looked up at that, eyes searching her own, a beat of silence passing between them.
“Thank you,” he said quietly.
Maddie didn’t know what to do; whether things were awkward now, whether he was upset, whether she should give him space or they should go back to normal like they’d already been doing-
“Are we…” she hesitated, holding her mug a little tighter. “Did you still want to go go-karting? Because I uh- I’d like to go still… if you do.”
Maddie knew it was her turn to be the bold one here; to put the ball in Jeongin’s court, and let him decide whatever he wanted to do.
She would follow his lead; whether he wanted distance or not.
Jeongin smiled again, laughing lightly and running a hand through his hair.
“Yeah, let’s do it,” he replied. “I’ll probably still beat you, though.”
To her surprise, there was a playful gleam in Jeongin’s eye, teasing her just like always…
And Maddie felt relieved, breath coming out in a rush as she giggled.
“We’ll see about that,” she said, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
He laughed again, and they looked at each other for another moment before he tilted his head a little, the air between them shifting back to serious.
“You should try talking to Hyunjin when he gets back,” Jeongin suggested gently. “I… don’t think he would have made such a show of getting a contract unless he was trying to make some kind of point-”
“Yeah, I know what his point is,” Maddie interrupted bitterly. “I’m replaceable-”
But Jeongin was already shaking his head, taking a couple steps backward as he grinned.
“I… don’t think so.”
“What do you think?” she couldn’t help asking.
After all, Maddie hadn’t forgotten how much Jeongin had helped her with Hyunjin when all they used to do was fight.
But Jeongin’s smile went slightly one-sided, and he was shrugging his shoulders, still walking backwards-
“I think you just need to talk to him.”
And before she could say anything else, Jeongin was turning around, leaving her alone in the kitchen with her empty mug still sitting in her hands.
if you're feeling it you don't have to at all, but could you write maddy x male reader, where basically someone hurt maddy in some way (you can decide what they did) and the reader retaliates and like beats them up severally or something and gets arrested, and maddy comes up with some plan to make the reader innocent and get them released
Love the request!
𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 || 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳
Pairings: Maddy Perez x Male Reader
Summary: It was supposed to be a normal day. Go to school, get through it with Maddy by your side, and then go home where you were sure to have Maddy with you even then. But all it takes is one guy to make one wrong move for something to snap inside of you. Turns out, jumping someone with your friends is bad enough to land you in a holding cell.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Violence, broken bones, sexual assault, faces getting slammed against concrete, and fluff (?)
Words 3029
“Do you know if we've got a test today?" Maddy's question had you grinning in amusement, glancing over at your girlfriend who sat in the passenger seat. She was rummaging through her bag like a madwoman, seemingly looking for the notes for one of the classes she suspected would be needed for this test.
"It depends," you replied. "What class are talking about?"
That earned a whine in return, which made you chuckle softly at your girlfriend's suspense. “There’s no test, baby,” you paused. “Maybe.”
She swiftly hit you in the arm, biting back a smile as she shook her head. “You can be a real dick, you know that?”
As you two came to a red light, you leaned over to her and cupped her face. Peppering her face in kisses, earning a giggle as her face scrunched up. Never having gotten used to the infinite amount of love you held for her.
Your guys’ relationship was a far different experience from what Maddy had been accustomed to. You worshipped her as if she was some sort of goddess and you spoiled her. Sure, she was spoiled by Nate, but you were different. So different, in fact, that you became her addiction. Wanting your praise, attention, and love every second she spent with you.
At the start, she sought you out for sex. Seeking to get over Nate. Who better than one of his best friends? And when you told her you didn’t care for his opinion and wasn’t scared, she swears she fell in love with you right there and then. But she never would admit that. She preferred the idea that it had been your charm and gentleman aspects that hooked her in.
But she fell in love with you because everyone was scared of Nate. No one dared test the boy as his father was influential in East Highland. Your parents were as well, but your dad was the Sheriff and your mom was a lawyer. Even your uncle was a boxer and had gone pro for a little while before retiring because of prostate cancer. So, all of those combined made you just as dangerous as Nate, maybe even more.
She had only caught wind of you because of the countless fights you had been in. Having seen you run to Nate’s call and almost smash a kid's head through a car window. She’d seen it all and knew you were on your final strike. One more fight, one more out-of-line action, and you were gone.
Underneath that rough and tough exterior was the truest part of you and Maddy was sure she was the only person to ever see it. You showed it all to her the first night you guys went out on a little hangout at the diner. Neither of you said it was a date, but both of you knew the true intentions that underlie. But Maddy doesn’t know how long she sat there and just listened. Attention focused solely on you and nothing else, not even her phone. She got to hear all about your personal life troubles, your dreams after school, and what you had planned further.
Nate had never done that with her. Never just sat and talk about either of their dreams. But like before. You were different. And so far, she was very much liking different.
Showing up at school, you two walked done the halls, in a very engaging conversation about this show Maddy had been talking about. Your arm wrapped around her shoulders and pulled softly into your side. She liked it. It made her feel safe with you being near.
You two stood and talked by her locker for the remaining time you guys had. Even having Rue and Jules come by and talk for a little. It was another day, but something seemed just a bit better. Maybe it was the fact that you were in a good mood. That you hadn’t had been berated by your father about being on your best behaviour. Or your mother telling you to pay attention in class.
And it stayed that way for a good while. You went through your classes with ease and a surprisingly good amount of attention. Taking notes and everything. You felt like a goddamn stranger. But all it took was a quick text from Jules for everything to change.
 Jewels: come to the girl's bathroom! Something happened in gym class!
That nearly had you bolting out of your classroom, ignoring your teacher's calls. It had to be about Maddy. Jules wouldn’t be texting you if it was anything else. People knew better than to risk your last chance at Highland over something meaningless.
Coming to the bathroom doors, you knocked twice and pushed it a crack. “It’s, Y/n!” You announced. “Can I come in?”
 “Yeah!”
Stepping inside, you immediately spotted Maddy with tears streaming down her cheeks. Jules beside her, trying to console the Latina girl the best she could. But damn well knowing that you would be the best person with the task.
You rushed over. “Hey, hey, hey,” you soothed. “It’s okay, Mads. It’s okay, I’m here.” Your arms encased her small frame as she hugged you instantly. Face buried in your chest as one of your hands stroked her hair. Knowing that it helped her relax and fall asleep.
Glancing at Jules, she understood the silent question and sighed. “Martinez…” she paused, nibbling on her bottom lip. “Touched Maddy.”
Maddy felt your body tense. The faintest change in the air turned to a vastly thick tension that made it harder for her to breathe. She knew how protective you could get with people you cared about. You’d beaten the living shit out of someone, who mentioned the tiniest bit of Rue relapsing when she came back. And back then, you two didn’t know one another. You were a dangerous human being, willing to risk everything for your pack of friends. And even more for her.
She knew this, finding that one thing to differentiate between you and Nate. Because while you could still be as violent as Nate, you did it under justified reasons. If you weren’t in control of something, you shrugged it off. You continued on with your day, with her, and didn’t let it gnaw away at you like some sort of sickness. But when you did feel threatened or the ones around you, you went ballistic. So, she could only imagine what you were feeling with her now involved.
“He still in the gym?” Jules silently nodded, already dreading the inevitability of your anger being put out through your firsts.
But you could barely get far before Maddy caught your wrist. “Don’t, Y/n,” she pleaded. “Don’t waste your last strike on him. He isn’t worth it. Just stay here with me.”
And you listened. Holding her close and thanked Jules for her help. You and Maddy stayed there for a while, sitting close at lunch where you stalked your prey; Martinez. His little group of friends talking and laughing about something you didn’t give a shit about. His eyes came to yours once, giving you a polite smile and wave, which you fakely returned. And when he would look away, your whole expression would drop.
You were contemplating killing him. Would that be so bad though? Would the world mourn his death? Would the world suffer if it had one less body to gift oxygen to? You sure didn’t think so, and that’s where your plan came into play. And your small group of friends from the basketball team were in on it too. Having had your back since you and Maddy got together where Nate had been harassing the both of you.
Everything was laid out and it was just a matter of waiting. The route that Martinez took home was long and one of your friends, Jasper, had heard the kid would be staying late to catch up on homework. What a perfect day for you.
It was around 8 PM when you saw Martinez leaving the school. A steady jog was in place as he walked along the sidewalk in the direction of his home. No one was out at this time. Only a few cars passed as the street lights flickered on. He glanced up momentarily and kept his casual pace.
Rounding the corner of the street he lived on, the trees that lined the edge of the road on either side plunged him into shadows. He whistled as the sound of car doors opening got his attention. Brushing it off as nothing, he continued walking until he glanced over his shoulder. And by then, it was far too late for him to react.
Something hit him in the shin, a bat maybe? What he did know was that his leg seared in pain as he crumbled to the ground. And then, he was kicked on by multiple people. It was hard to keep track as they just hit him again, and again, and again. Leaving him a groaning and crying mess.
“That’s enough!”
Martinez writhed on the concrete as his body was inflamed in discomfort by the pain that shocked across his body. You found it pleasing to see the kid in so much agony. It amused you even. Watching him try and crawl away, weakly call for help when it didn’t matter. By the time you were done with him, he would be breathing out of a fucking tube.
“You guys get home,” you told your five friends. “I’ll get a ride from someone.”
They all nodded, walking away and hopping into Jasper’s car and driving off. You grabbed Martinez by the collar of his shirt and made him look at you. His eyes lit up in realization, and before he could even speak, you punched him in the face.
“Ah, fuck!” He cried out, spitting up blood.
“You know me?” You growled, ignoring his exclaim. “Hmm? You know me?”
He gave a weak nod. “So, you know my girlfriend, right?” You interrogated. “Maddy Perez? The girl you touched in gym class today?”
“I didn’t touch her, dude!”
The reply he got was rolling him onto his stomach. Placing one knee on his back and the other on his left arm. You grabbed his hand, growling at his resistance. You took ahold of his index finger and began to pull it back.
His pained cry was ignored as you placed more of your weight onto his back. Slowly restricting the amount of air he could take into his lungs. “Did you touch her?”
“No!”
 SNAP!
You pressed his face into the concrete harshly when he screamed out in agony. “You have 9 more fingers, Martinez!” You told him over his screams. “You wanna see what I can do in that time?”
When he didn’t answer, you grabbed a large chunk of his hair and slammed his face into the concrete. Jaw clenched tight as you watched the dirty grey concrete begin to become a splotch of red.
After his cries stopped, you lifted his head and brought your lips close to his ear. “Tell me the truth or I swear…” you let out a dark laugh, one that had Martinez quivering in fear, “I will fucking break you. I will fucking kill you.”
There was a pause, a moment where you thought you would have to break another one of his fingers, but he uttered quietly, “I did it.”
With that, your hands clenched tighter in his hair. Wanting nothing more then to beat this kid to the inch of his life. Make him regret ever looking in Maddy’s general direction. Or even thinking about laying a finger on her.
But the police lights and sirens stopped you. Standing to your feet as the police doors swung open. “Get your hands behind your head and kneel!”
Silently, you followed the orders. Going through the motions with your head turned towards Martinez, who laid weakly with another police officer kneeling over him. Cuffs captured your wrists with a bite and you were lifted to your feet. You were shoved into the cruiser where you stared blankly ahead. Not even the tiniest bit bothered by the predicament you were now stuck in. You would find a way out.
You always did.
Heels clicked across the tiled floor of the hospital. The halls were empty as the girl approached the hospital room she got from the front desk. Maddy couldn’t help but smirk at the thought. People were too easy to manipulate.
When she came to the hospital room door, she peeked inside. Finding that it was empty, Martinez was awake with his focus on his book. His nose was broken with a bandage around his head. His left index finger was bandaged where it rested on his left thigh. Served you right,” she thought before entering the room.
Her presence shocked Martinez, but he couldn’t grasp it before Maddy was speaking. “I know you’re planning on pressing charged to, Y/n,” she said. “But I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
“Why not?” He spat. “Your psycho boyfriend did this to me. He nearly killed me.”
His words didn’t even look to bother Maddy even the tiniest. Instead, pulling out her phone and seeming to be searching for something. “You know, Cassie Howard?” She asked. “The girl you’ve been pining over for, like, what? 5 months?”
Martinez could only swallow the lump in his throat as she nodded with a hum. “Well, I know you sent her dick picks,” she announced. “And I know you’re planning on trying to go to Harvard after you finish high school. Look, at you. Shooting high.” She mocked with a smirk.
“But I wouldn’t be here for no good reason, no, I would have to be here for something important, right?” Martinez gave a stiff nod, fear engulfing his bloodstreams like a drug or shot of adrenaline.
She showed her phone to him, his eyes widening at the picture; his dick pic. “How the hell did you get that?” He asked, eyes flickering between the phone and the girl standing at the end of his bed.
“Well, I’m best friends with Cassie and we practically tell each other about everything,” she briefly explained. “So, it came as no surprise to me that she had your dick in her phone.”
Maddy looked at the phone with a disgusted look. “So fuckin’ tiny,” she muttered before shaking her head and stuffing her phone back in her pocket. “You have two options, you drop the charges. You confess that you started the fight and touched me. That way, you take all of the punishment and more, while Y/n walks out of the police station freely.”
The boy clenched his jaw, swallowing the cement in his throat as he shifted in his bed. “And the other?”
Ever so slightly and hauntingly, Maddy’s lips curled into an evil grin. She had never admitted to you or anyone for that matter, but she was willing to do anything for you. Perhaps you may have gotten that sense the moment you two started dating. But she doesn’t think you knew how much she would do to keep you safe and with her.
A bit obsessive, but she had been bending over backwards to get all this incriminating evidence collected. Having to dance around Cassie’s questions as to why she needed the picture. But she knew you would do the same for her. That clear understanding made it easy for her to decide to do this, despite it also putting her in the hot seat with you.
“I send this to every large figure in Harvard,” she answered, grinning wider when she heard Martinez suck in a harsh breath. “All with the click of a button, your entire future is gone. So, what’s it going to be, Marti?”
There was a brief point of silence where the boy seemed to outweigh his options. It wasn’t a hard decision. Either way, he was getting the shit end of the stick. One was less worse than the other, and did he even have a choice? No. Absolutely not.
When there was no response, Maddy sighed. “You don’t have to answer now, but I suggest doing it in the next hour,” she stated. “I’ll know which one you decide.”
And with that, she left the room. Leaving Martinez to sit there, heart thundering against his fractured ribs.
Tumblr media
The silence wasn’t even the tiniest bit bothering. You found entertainment in the drunk man in the same holding cell as you. Singing slurred words of a song you couldn’t decipher.
You bent your neck to the side, face scrunching up at the painful crack. Sighing as the sound of feet approaching filled your ears. The sound of keys jingling before a door opened. A police officer stepped inside with a deep glare set on you, then Maddy stepped inside.
Her lips were curled into a mischievous grin that made your heart warm. If you’d been honest, you hadn’t been expecting her. Maybe your mother and father, but not Maddy. She was a special little gift handed to you.
 “Your free, L/n,” the police officer announced, unlocking the cell door. “I suggest avoiding your dad. He might kill you if he sees you.”
You didn’t humour the man with a response, only walking out of the holding area with your hand interlocking with Maddy’s. Thankfully, you got out of the police station without being spotted by your father. But there was no saving you when you got home, that was for sure.
Getting into Maddy’s car, she could barely say or do anything before your lips were crashing against hers. A moan vibrating through her and being swallowed by you. “I fucking love you.”
That made her smile into the kiss, hand pressing to your shoulder. “Not even going to ask how I got you out?”
You couldn’t contain the large grin that pressed itself to your lips. No matter how crazy you or Maddy was, you two were made for another. And you weren’t ever planning on letting her go.
Accidental Baby Acquisition
Danny has his portal accident a lot earlier than in the show, 10 years early to be exact. Jack and Maddie had been in the kitchen going over some blueprints and studying some ectoplasm samples they had stored in their fridge. Jazz was out of the house at a friend's house, she made sure her parents remembered. She put it on the houses multiple calenders, in her parents phones, a note on the fridge, and even announced on her way out the door to catch the bus to school that morning. Needless to say the two forgot anyways and thought Jazz was watching Danny in the living room as they tinkered away in the kitchen.
Danny was being a kid, a young kid who was fascinated by his parents work and who just wanted to look at the cool toys they made downstairs in the basement. He was very good at going up and down the stairs by himself, and remembered to put on what his mommy called a HAS-MAP suit....or something like that. His was white and black! Like an astronauts! He couldn't reach his goggles though but he figured it would be fine, he was just looking and nothing was on! And mommy and daddy only wore the goggles when something was glowing.
He hadn't been down there a lot because Jazzy didn't like him down there. She said it was dangerous but mommy and daddy are always down there and they don't say it's dangerous so maybe it's not that bad? He had a fun time looking around! He made sure not to touch anything like a good boy but then he saw the giant circle thing in the back. It looked like the bottom of a rocket ship! Mommy and daddy were building a rocket ship! He excitedly ran towards it but tripped over a big wire, it was close to what daddy called a tension cord! He didn't mean to knock it out he didn't it was unplugged so he plugged it back in carefully because he didn't want his parents to be mad. Then he walked inside the giant metal circle.
He tripped again into the wall of the big circle, he hit a loose piece, he felt bad when it fell off and decided he should get out and go apologize, but then he heard a humming. It got louder and then. Pain.
Jack and Maddie heard the scream. It was. It was awful. Something they would remember forever. They ran as fast as they could to the lab calling out for Jazz and Danny. When they got down they were shocked to see their portal to the Ghost Zone active, and more so to see a small ghost getting up from the floor to look at them. It was mimicking crying. They weren’t idiots. Maddie drew one of her guns with Jack doing the same, she knew she was crying, she had heard her baby. This ghost had to have taken him and was taunting them.
"Where's my baby!?"
"Mommy. Mommy, I hurt." The ghoul cried and Maddie saw white. How dare this thing mimick her child. How dare it try to take advantage of them. She didn't know what happened but she could guess from the way her finger felt cramped and the way her husband had shouted.
She had shot the ghost. It was falling back into the portal. It was getting away. They both scrambled to grab something, anything that would catch it so they could question torture it in on Danny's whereabouts. They were unsuccessful and all they could do was watch the little thing fall further into the portal before it got to far it let out this piercing, in human wail and next thing they knew, both Jack and Maddie awoke on the floor of their lab. It was a wreck, their inventions were thrown all around, some broken, some thankfully intact, but the most devastating realization was to see how damaged the portal was. She screamed.
Jazz was brought home by her friend's mom but when the mom walked her to the door and they heard screaming and crashes, her friend's mom told her to go wait in the car and tell her older daughter to call 911. Jazz was smart. She knew something was wrong, and all she wanted to do was run in there and make sure her baby brother was okay but she listened to Mrs. Richmond anyways. That was the day Danny Fenton went missing. It would be soon that Jazz would go to live with her Aunt Alicia. Maddie and Jack were deemed unfit to take care of her. But that was fine, she would just get in the way of their research. They never reached out.
Danny, lost in the Zone and hurting only wanted to be safe and he just wanted his family. The Zone no longer had a portal to send the little Twilight child out of back to his family but it did the best it could. Danny landed on a chunk of a ghost town, no ghosts were there, it seemed to truly be abandoned.
Flynn Walker went missing when he was 8, that was 10 years ago. His mama had told him not to go messing around the town's local ghost story ridden abandoned train cart out in the woods. Boy sis she tell him many times, and he remembered his dad saying, "Alicia, he's a boy, boys tend to wander and seek adventure." His ma and dad fought a lot, but he liked the idea of adventure. He remembered complaining about wanting to go see the train because all his friends had, and he remembered his dad telling him to go and that he would cover for him if his mom asked. That would be the last time he saw his dad or mom.
The memory was fuzzy but he did remember exploring the train carts and being bored until he got to the last one. It just felt off. It was cold. It was hot. He felt like there were people all around. Then he heard the trains horn...which was very impossible since there were only carts from the train. Not the front. Not the back. Not even the dining cart. It was a couple of the seating ones. But it was when he heard that horn when a flash of green blinded him and he ended up in the Ghost Zone.
He had been trying for years to get back to his mama, but so far, nothing. So he did what his mama taught him, and he survived. He was doing a good job if he did say so himself, he even made some alliances with some ghosts. He knew what to expect in the zone. What he didn't expect was finding a baby ghost hurt on his property. And well, he wasn't going to leave the little thing to die...again. Nor was he going to risk Walker and his men finding the little thing or any other ghoul.
That was the day Flynn Walker accidentally acquired a baby. A ghost baby. A ghost baby who for some odd fucking reason turned human sometimes.
This is another idea that's been floating in my head and I had to put it down somewhere so why not here? I definitely want to write this too! This will have ghost baby Danny being parented by his missing cousin and he will meet his rouge gallery as a baby! And spoiler alert they become attached. Also baby Danny is powerful and they all are kind of in awe at how powerful this tiny baby ghost human is. Jazz lives with her Auntie and gets to be a kid again but she also just really worries about Danny and thinks she sometimes sees him but that's impossible right? Alicia becomes Jazz's guardian and learns just how negligent her sister and husband were to Jazz and Danny and it broke her heart and lit a fire in her like nothing else.
This will have maximum Maddie and Jack salt with them thinking they were in the right but they just also kinda go off the deep end. This will have redeemed Vlad because yes. It will still have Sam and Tucker just in a different way than in the show. I'm thinking of having them be ghosts too but I'm leaning more towards humans that Danny meets when a portal is open again.
The late Daniel Fenton
It was shaping up to be a beautiful if chilly December day and Casper High, as always, was bustling. It was 7:49 and class was about to start. The teacher watched the last few kids stumbling in at various levels of wakefulness. He already knew who would be the ones to rush in after the bell but that was alright. Life was too short to stress about being a few minutes late to class, especially in Amity Park of all places.
He looked up to see Madison, one of his shyer students walk in before making a beeline for his desk. She was biting her lip and nervously rubbing her hand down her skirt. “Hey,” she began quietly.
“Good morning. What’s up, Mads?” He asked casually. She looked upset, he could probably put on a video for the class if she needed to talk. They really needed a permanent counselor but the constant ghost attacks ran off most of them so he’d taken up the unofficial mantle. It felt good to help his students like that, make up for past wrongs.
“Are we um, expecting any new students?” She asked, her eyes darting over to the door she’d just come through. “Any transfers, exchange students or anything like that?”
“No,” the teacher frowned. “Amity isn’t the kind of place people transfer into. Why?”
“There’s a kid in the hallway,” she mumbled. “I don’t recognize him, he’s got a backpack and everything but he’s... I don’t know he doesn’t feel right.”
“Oh you’re talking about that weird dark haired kid,” Kyle said as he entered and sat down with a slouch. But even the class slacker looked unusually tense. “Dude’s creepy, can’t put my finger on why but he definitely doesn’t belong.”
“Oh,” was all the teacher had to say. Suddenly he realized how cold the classroom had become, the uncomfortable feeling that was pressing ever so slightly down on them. “I suppose it makes sense, the ghosts have been quiet lately with the Truce and all. He probably got bored.”
“Sir?” Madison said.
“Shannon,” he said instead, looking over at the frizzy haired girl hunched over her sketchbook furiously at work. “Would you do me a favor and move to the vacant seat in the second row? Just for today.”
“What? Why?” the girl whined even as she gathered up her various arts supplies and got ready to move.
“That’s Mr. Fenton’s seat,” he said taking in a deep breath and closing his eyes in preparation for what he was about to see. Danny would come here, of course he would. This was Lancer’s old classroom and Danny had him for first period English Lit. He and Dash both did.
“Mr. Baxter? What’s going on, is it a ghost?” Malik asked from the back row while Shannon shuffled to her new temporary seat.
“Yes but you don’t need to be scared,” he said softly, evenly. “He won’t hurt you.” The bell rang but Dash didn’t start the lesson. Instead, he waited. Danny had never been on time to class the entire time Dash had known him, of course death wouldn’t change that.
“Sorry, I’m late Mr. Lancer,” Dash gripped his desk so he didn’t jump when Danny Fenton simply appeared in front of his desk instead of walking through the door like any other student. “My folks couldn’t drive me, they’re still working on their stupid ghost portal.” A quick glance over at this class showed varying levels of fear, shock and curiosity but they were Amity kids through and through. The cold, powerful energy radiating off Fenton told them it was best to play along with whatever the ghost wanted.
“Perfectly alright Mr. Fenton,” Dash said softly, searching the 14 year old’s perpetually young face. He hadn’t changed a bit since Dash last saw him their second week of freshman year. It seemed unreal seeing how the years had taken their toll on Casper’s favorite son, Dash Baxter. God had they really been that young once? “Take a seat and we’ll get started.”
Danny shrugged and walked over to the seat Shannon had just vacated. He sat just the same, one leg stretched out and the other propped up against the leg of the desk. As soon as he took off the backpack and put it around the chair, it disappeared. He didn’t say anything else, just sat as stared at Dash with piercing blue eyes like he could see right through him.
“We had been talking about the lead up to the Civil War but let’s table that for today,” Dash said, proud his voice only wavered a little. He knew other people had seen Fenton around town. Lina saw him standing outside the Nasty Burger maybe five or so years ago. Dale, who used to live near Fenton Works swore he sometimes saw someone moving through the windows of the long abandoned house. He’d always secretly dreaded the thought of seeing Danny Fenton again, afraid he’d finally get was coming to him.
“Instead, we’re going to talk about local history,” he continued, not daring to take his eyes off the undead teen. Every other living student was tense, afraid. He wished he could assure them that the ghost wouldn’t lay a hand on them. In the event Fenton decided to ditch the hero schtick, it would be Dash and Dash alone he’d come after. “Amity Park has long had rumors of being haunted dating all the way back to the 1600s. It wasn’t until the last century that scientists determined that Amity Park is located on top of a thin spot between our world and the ghost realm. Natural portals form here all the time allowing spirits to pass through.”
No one spoke and barely anyone breathed except for Danny would wasn’t breathing at all. He just sat and stared at Dash with steady, unblinking eyes.
“Jack and Maddie Fenton were the scientists who discovered the weak point in reality in Amity. They devoted their entire life to the study of ghosts and made remarkable advancements in our knowledge of ectobiology and culture, the first being,” he paused as Danny cocked his head in confusion, squinting his eyes suspiciously at Dash. “The first being their manmade portal to the ghost zone. The portal remained active for almost two decades for research purposes but was shut down following their deaths.”
“You’re not Mr. Lancer,” Danny said suddenly, his eyes shifting from baby blue to an ectoplasmic green. Marty, who was sitting to the left of Danny, swallowed a squeak of fear and squeezed his eyes shut.
“No,” Dash sighed, “Lancer died almost thirty years ago now. Best teacher I ever had, he gave me his blessing when he passed on the job to me.”
“I,” the ghost ran his hand through his hair which was starting to lose its color. Seeing Fenton looking so scared and confused made him ache. It reminded him of old times. Dash had spent most of his life making sure he helped hurt kids if only to make up for the one he’d never been able to make it up to. “I don’t understand.”
“It’s okay, Danny,” he soothed. “I know it’s a lot to take in.”
“The portal, it wasn’t working at first,” Danny justified, his aura glowing a little more. “Sam and Tuck, they were curious. They wanted to look but I told them it wasn’t allowed, Sam, Sam she dared me to go in. I put on the hazmat suit and went inside and found the on button inside. I accidentally hit it and-” he paused midsentence and looked down at his hands. They weren’t pale flesh anymore but covered in white gloves. The black was completely bleached from his hair. A few of the students gasped as they saw the strange would be student melt into Phantom, the ghostly hero who’d been protecting their town since their parents were young. “I died.”
So much time had gone by. People were born and people were buried and the truth became distorted until it was just a legend passed jokingly around cafeteria lunch tables. Amity’s youth had forgotten their town’s history until it was sitting in a desk, trying once more to be one of them.
“You did,” Dash said sadly. He remembered hearing the news of Fenton's death. An assembly had been called the morning after the accident. Lancer had cried at the podium, Manson and Foley hadn’t returned to school for a week and had never been the same again. Dash hadn’t known what to think at the time, only that the kid he’d beat up for the crime of being different would never show up to school again. Or so he’d thought. “It was a tragedy, you were mourned by a lot of people.”
“I know you, don’t I?” Danny said quietly before he sat up straighter. “Dash?”
“In the flesh,” Dash grinned shakily.
“But you’re so old,” Danny said, once more distressed. “Your hair is grey and there’s wrinkles on your face and-and you’re a teacher now?” The last line was said with incredulity, his eyes flaring again. “You used to push me down the stone steps of the school and shove me into my locker and call me names.”
“Yeah, I did,” he sighed, feeling every one of his years. He was pushing 70 but he didn’t think he’d ever stop feeling like a stupid 14 year old who took out his frustrations on the ones who didn’t deserve it. “But you were the last; I never touched another kid again. I’m married now, four kids. I’m vice principal now, teach History and coach the school’s football team. It’s,” his voice caught again, still unable to process how young and stupid Fenton looked sitting there like no time had passed at all. It made Dash feel like all his accomplishments and attempts to be better would never amount to anything so long as his last victim roamed the earth unable to find peace. “It doesn’t fix what I did back then but I make damn sure that there won’t be any bullying at Casper so long as I’m here.”
“Huh,” Danny said, slouching once more in his seat but it looked less like his earlier teenage laziness and more weary. He and Dash were the same age after all, just because only one of them got old doesn’t mean time didn’t still affect them. “You did change, a lot of things did.” Danny looked down at the desk, “how long has it been?”
“Almost 50 years,” Dash sighed. “My wife wants me to retire but I guess I always find more things to do.” He paused then decided it was now or never. “I’m sorry Danny, for hurting you back then. I wish I'd gotten to know you better.”
For just a moment, Danny was perfectly clear. Even half floating out of his chair and looking like the local celebrity, his eyes were so painfully human. A boy killed before he ever got a chance to get started. Who’s will to protect was so strong it lasted half a century. It haunted him late at night to think of the glory and power of Phantom overshadowing just how incredible Danny Fenton had been. Not that anyone had seen it at the time. Soon there wouldn’t be anyone left to remember that quiet, kind teenager and then Danny Fenton really would be dead. Kill him just as thoroughly as that portal had.
The moment was broken by a breath of cold leaking out of the ghost’s lips and, just like that, his highschool classmate was gone and Phantom was left in his stead. He looked curiously around the classroom as if he didn’t know how he’d gotten there.
“There’s a ghost, stay here and don’t leave unless the fighting gets too close. I’ll get it though, don’t worry. No kids are dying today.” Maybe it was Dash’s imagination but he thought he saw Phantom’s eyes linger on him for an extra moment, trying to place where he knew the teacher from. Dash just smiled.
“Our lives are in your hands. Good luck, Phantom,” the ghost teen saluted before fading away entirely. Dash let out the breath he didn’t know he’d been holding, suddenly exhausted but also lighter at the same time. It wasn’t every day you got to look your mistakes in the face and apologize. “Shannon, you can move back now.”
“No, I’m okay here,” Shannon said as she flipped to a new page in her sketchbook and looked intently at the spot where Fenton had once sat. “It’s like you said, that’s Danny’s seat.”
“I had no idea, Phantom’s been around for like, ever,” Freddie mumbled, pushing up his glasses. “But he used to be just like us.” And still was, Dash thought sadly. Danny would never grow old, never go to space like he’d always dreamed or marry Manson like he’d probably intended to. He was stuck, in more ways than one for who knows how long.
“Yes, that’s why it’s important to know your history. The Civil War and my other lessons are important but we can’t forget these smaller, more intimate histories. If we lose these lessons to time then we risk repeating the same mistakes over again.” He looked his students in the eyes, holding their attention.
“So we’ll continue today with the local history. Before he was ghost butt kicking superhero, Phantom was Danny Fenton, son of the local ghost hunters and a bit of an outcast in town. The Daniel Fenton Foundation was founded about a year after his death and was-”
Hey Charity! I know you don't, or at least I THINK you don't watch Euphoria, but all my friends love these truth bomb, go off on who deserves it moments the Maddy character has. My question comes from watching that one scene [removed by mod cuz that's too much MA language for this blog] …and well to me that's 2w3 so/sx disintergrating to 8 all the way. But It left me wondering, what's the big difference between that and say, an actual 8 going off? Especially for an 8 sx/sp which is supposed to b more low-key?
I feel like none of the 8s are "low-key." An 8 is always an 8, aware of the power in the situation, who has it, and they want to be the ones with it, because being without it is their core fear (someone else will not get to control me in any way, shape, or form). An actual 8 who loses it at someone has been building toward that for a while and constantly trying to gain the upper hand, and then like a rubber band, they snap, let people have it, and walk away having moved on within a relatively short amount of time. 8s tend to blow up and then are "fine" whereas everyone around them might now be upset, because the 8 just disrupted everything to assert themselves.
Something to remember in general about an actual number and a number moving to that number in disintegration is that the stress-line has none of the positive attributes of that Enneagram type. So the total self-confidence of an 8 (being completely and utterly capable of taking care of my own self/life/problems/business) is absent from a 2 who moves to 8 -- all you get is highly reactive aggression and angry energy, often directed at someone the 2 sees as a threat to their loved ones. It becomes all about protecting me and mine, against you who would dare hurt the people I love, or who needs taken down a notch because you're a ____.
I read something in an Enneagram book that made me chuckle once, in that an 8 was watching two of his kids playground being awful to each other, and he walked up to them, grabbed each by the scruff of the neck, and knocked their heads together, then walked away. It was a "hard knocks" (snort, chuckle) message that came across loud and clear, in a very 8 way: KNOCK. IT. OFF. Which is very different from the exasperated 2 mom at the end of the day who screams a threat at her kids to stop fighting or else the crap is gonna hit the fan. One was a deliberate power-play, the other is purely loss of control.
Putin isn't very popular at the moment (for good reason) but I read something about him the other day that just exemplifies 8-ness. The author of the article mentioned how once he was at a press conference after Putin had just gotten elected, and a journalist asked him something that he did not like. Putin stared at him, and asked if he could ask the journalist a question. When the man said yes, he drew everyone's attention to the flashy diamond ring the journalist wore. By the end of his brief conversation, he had completely humiliated the journalist -- as punishment for "calling him out." That is pure 8. It's not angrily reactive so much as it sizes another person up and then deliberately takes them down a notch.
