there’s a progression in there, somewhere, of even going from ‘the master might kill me any day now :(‘ to ‘the master is going to kill me :) she’s not going to let someone else do it after all this time’
#i wouldn’t call it hubris exactly. more like this pretty secure surity that that’s how they’re going to die.#and to them that makes sense. they chose this. they keep choosing it after the doctor offers them a way out.#because this is. they understand this. and they feel safe in the reprieve before their death.#how do you control death? choose who kills you. the last defense of a prey animal.#something something dark mirror to clara’s ‘i am owed’ speech for even is if this ever. doesn’t work out the way they thought it would.#clara tried to threaten the doctor so that he’d reverse death for her. even would turn on the master if she tried to spare them.#i am owed better. i am owed the death you promised… i am owed the knowledge that you don’t care enough to save me… you know. something like#that.#even is. kind of. meant to mirror the doctor’s companions at the time. they are a martha who can’t leave him. they are a donna who has to#remember and never speak about everything they know. they are clara if during deep breath clara reached back and truly didn’t expect. truly#hoped. that no one would take her hand. because if they can be certain it will happen they can know never to reach again.#jesus christ. go to therapy boy. you have so many trust issues.#but that’s why they’re Like That with the master because at the end of the day. who is easier to rely on? the guy who comes in to put out#fires but only sometimes. or the guy who. really really fucking likes starting fires.#better to get burned hoping someone is coming or get burned knowing that’s what would happen. and even. chooses the latter.#AND ALL OF THIS. for me to say thats why i cant actually let the master ever kill them.#i think she needs to do something worse to even. i think she needs to abandon them.#and that will either set them free to go have healthy normal relationships or. lets be honest much more likely. completely fucking break#them. which would be fun :) for me.#dw oc

KISS | denji
synopsis: afraid for your life you promise a kiss to a devil. cw: aged up characters, blood, kissing, fluff, cussing wc: 2.7k
--------------------------------------------------------
Honestly, what were you thinking? Denji is a single minded person. If there is a goal in his head he will do just about anything to get to that goal. That goal being various things to do with girls. You knew better than to ask him for anything, let alone promise him something. That something being a kiss.
Just a kiss.
Something spoken in the heat of the moment. Your back against the wall, death knocking on your doorstep. It was stupid really. A devil got the better of you. Most days you were quite proficient in a fight. But after a late night of drinking with friends, woken early and thrown into a fight you didn’t exactly have the best chances. Blame it on the throbbing hangover or just your survival instinct kicking in but you made the stupid decision to promise that if Denji got you out of this devil infested cave you would kiss him. You’re not even sure why that promise left your lips and honestly it was embarrassing, even more embarrassing that Denji practically tripped over himself to do just as you said. It was like watching a man be possessed. He tore those devils to shreds and when he was finished walked over to you all full of himself, offering his hand to help you off the floor. The cave was stained in blood. Denji was covered in it. It looked like that scene from the horror movie you watched with Aki a few months ago. The one with the girl in the pink dress winning homecoming queen only to be doused in pigs blood. You slapped his hand away, slipping and sliding on your way to your feet.
“Disgusting.” You commented, wiping blood off your hands.
“Hey!” Denji called after you as you headed back towards the entrance of the cave, feeling your way along the walls. You could hear him sliding on the blood as he followed you out. “What about my kiss?” He asked. Honestly you’d forgotten what you said a few moments ago and his words were like a slap to the face. You and Denji joined the Public Safety Division around the same time, he was a few months older than you but acted like a twelve year old boy. Obsessed with things that made your blood boil. You tended to stay as far as possible from him.
“It was a joke.” You said, slipping and almost falling but Denji grabs you and hoists you back to your feet.
“A joke?” He asks as you push his hands from you and huff, straightening.
“Yes, a joke.” You scoff, seeing the cave entrance in the distance.
“Jokes are supposed to be funny. You owe me a kiss!”
“I don’t owe you anything!” You growled over your shoulder.
“So promises mean nothing to you?” He calls back after you. You don’t answer him, just hurry out of the cramped cave into the sunlight, breathing in the fresh air. Your clothes and skin were covered in devil blood, your hair matted with it. You practically gagged, reaching for your cell phone. “Y/nnnnn?” Denji says in a sing-songy type voice.
“What?” You snap.
“I will bug you day and night for that kiss, you know that right?” He jests as you turn to look at him. Just like you he was covered in blood.
“Denji,” You start through clenched teeth. “I thought I was going to die in there.”
“Uh huh.” He hums, attention like a dog.
“I said something stupid, just forget it.”
“It wasn’t stupid.”
“It was very stupid.” You growl, turning away from him as you message for a ride.
“It wasn’t!” Denji aruges. “You promised a kiss. I am looking forward to it.”
“It’s just a kiss. Any girl can give you that.” You sigh.
“I don’t want a kiss from any girl. I want one from you.” He clarified, you turn to look at him.
“Me specifically?” You ask and Denji nods his head. “Why?” It was no secret you couldn’t stand Denji, you argued with him all the time and criticized him. Denji scrunched his face as though you said something outrageously stupid.
“Why? You’re hot that's why! Like one of the prettiest girls on earth.” He stresses. You furrow your brows, amusement on your features.
“Oh really?”
“Really!” He asserted. You shook your head.
“Denji, I was scared. I thought I was going to die.” You stressed, running a hand through your hair. “I would’ve said anything to have you save me.”
“And I would’ve done anything to save you. Which I did. By the way.” Denji says, taking a step towards you. You step back, shaking your head.
“I’m not kissing you.”
“Just one kiss.” He interrupts. “Just one quick kiss, it doesn’t have to be long.” You stare at him for a moment. He really wanted a kiss badly, it was written all over his face.
“You’re crazy.” You shook your head.
“You’re beautiful. Now can you kiss me.” He takes another step forwards. You roll your eyes.
“I am covered almost head to toe in Devil blood.”
“So?”
“So?” You echo. “It’s disgusting. And you're covered too.”
“So we go home, clean off and kiss after.”
“I. Am. Not. Kissing. You!” You stressed, heaving a sigh as you pointedly turned away from him. It was quiet finally and you knew Denji would be pouting behind you but you didn’t care. You weren’t kissing some devil. Especially since it would be your very first kiss. It wasn’t going to happen!
Your guys’ ride finally showed as you and Denji loaded in. It was silent between you two the whole ride and you’d say it was awkward but it wasn’t like you guys were friendly before this moment. Something in you felt sort of guilty. Denji looked like a kicked puppy as he stared out the window. Like he was a kid with candy and you smacked it out of his hand or something. It was just a stupid kiss, someone else will come along one day and kiss him and he’ll forget about it. Or even would probably forget about it in the next hour.
But Denji didn’t forget. He wasn’t mean to you, just quiet. It was weird. He was quiet getting out of the car and walking into the house. Didn’t sing at all in the shower like he usually did and was quiet at dinner, which Aki noticed and was very concerned over. He gave you a look and you just rolled your eyes with a shrug. After cleaning up the table, Aki went off to bed as you and Denji did the dishes. He didn’t say a word for the first fifteen minutes and honestly it was driving you insane. Sometimes his incessant talking was annoying but right now you missed it. You passed him a clean dish and sighed.
“Are you seriously still upset?” You asked quietly, not wanting to disturb Aki. Denji dried off the dish and put it away, grabbing the next one.
“I was looking forward to it.”
“The kiss? Seriously?” You asked as he looked at you.
“Why is that so hard to believe?”
“Because it’s me you're talking about kissing.” You say, amused. He fully turns to you, cocking his head.
“Are you unaware that you're one of the prettiest girls in existence? Seriously? Of course I want to kiss you, I’m not that stupid.”
“Keep your voice down.” You hiss.
“Why? Scared i'll wake up your crush?” He whispers teasingly, you give him a sharp look but the blush that creeps on your cheeks is answer enough for him. He starts belly laughing, a loud laugh that has you yanking your hands out from the water and slapping it over his mouth. Your other hand grabbing him by the front of his shirt and yanking him forwards.
“You are fucking annoying.” You hiss angrily, he laughs beneath your hand as you pull back, turning away from him.
“I didn’t think you’d be so scared to kiss me.” He whispers as you turn, eyes slicing to him.
“Scared? You think I’m scared.”
“That’s what this is right?” He asks, his mouth tilting up in a smirk. “You’re scared you’ll fall in love with me.” Your brows shoot up and a scoff of a laugh escapes your lips.
“No, that is definitely not it.” You shake your head.
“Sure, keep telling yourself that.” He jests.
“Seriously, it’s not, devil.” You hiss as he shrugs his shoulders. Annoyance floods your system as you reach and turn off the water, grabbing a towel. He watches you closely as you toss the towel at his chest, he grabs it, drying off his own hands. “I’ll prove it to you.” You say stubbornly, his brows shoot up as he realizes exactly what you were going to prove. He turns to face you. “Then you can stop walking around like a wounded puppy, now come here.” You direct and he does just as told, taking a step closer to you. You inhale, blowing your breath out sharply. You’d never kissed anyone before but you’d seen people kiss in movies and on the street so you also took a step closer and definitely ignored the way your heart skipped a beat when your eyes met his this close. Your hands shook so you flexed your fingers, hiding your nerves well enough. You hesitantly reached both your hands up and placed them on either side of Denji’s face, his cheeks burned beneath your touch, his eyes darting from your own to your lips. This was so stupid. Just hours ago you’d rather die than relinquish your first kiss and now here you were about to give it to Denji of all people. You swallowed nervously, sucking in a quiet breath. Both of Denji’s hands, which were at his sides, now moved to your hips, causing you to jump. “What’re you doing?” You ask, he looks at you apologetically.
“I don’t know, it just felt right.” He says and although your moments from smacking his hands away something about it did feel right. And not wanting to investigate that idiotic feeling anymore you just pushed it out of your head and swallowed down your nerves.
“Whatever, okay,” You breathe out. “I’m gonna kiss you now.” You say and his fingers on your hips tighten slightly, pulling you just the smallest bit closer as he nods his head, eagerly. Your heart does a funny flip in your chest because now you two are mere centimeters apart. It's a stupid thing really, it’s not like you harbored some deep feelings for Denji… Right? You shook your head externally and huffed, yanking his lips to yours in a final effort to get this moment over with. Denji gasped slightly as your lips met his. His eyes shooting open in surprise. If he was being honest with himself he didn’t think you’d actually go through with it. He’d known you for months now and you were well above being teased usually. Sure he was very very bummed when he thought you wouldn’t kiss him but since he thought it would never happen this was a total surprise. Like hitting the lottery. A one in a million thing. And he would not take this for granted. You pulled back a second later, his eyes still open as yours opened to meet his. For a second you two just stared at each other, blushed red. You cleared your throat, your voice a bit high as you spoke. “There, now you can leave me alo-” His arms slipped around your back, his eyes falling closed as he leaned down closer to you, your lips slotting together in harmony. Your breath hitched in your throat as Denji pulled back, taking you with him as he practically lifted you off the floor into his arms, your legs kicking out behind you. Almost as though the little space between you was too much and needed to be eradicated. It was just supposed to be a quick peck but you couldn’t pull back. You felt something shocking like electricity as the kiss deepened, as he set you on the ground and you buried your fingers in his hair, his hands grabbing your hips as you two walked back, his back practically slammed into the fridge.
“Oh uh-” Aki’s voice gasped from the hall. You yanked back away from Denji, red faced and embarrassed. Aki looked amused, like he was holding back a laugh. You covered your face, turning back to the dishes. “I didn’t mean to interrupt.” He says, grabbing a drink from the fridge.
“You didn’t.”
“You did.” Denji says at the same time as you. Aki heads back without another word but you could hear him snickering down the hall. You turn the water back up, getting back to the dishes. You feel Denji slide next to you as you give him a clean dish to dry.
“Can we do that again?” He whispers, your stomach dropping as well as the dish in your hand.
“Let’s just pretend that didn’t happen.” You say, embarrassed and flushed with emotions that you never thought were even remotely possible. Denji knew this is where things were headed but it didn’t stop the pain he felt when you reinforced that.
“Thank you.” Denji says quietly, you swallow, biting your lip. “You’re a good kisser.”
“Okay.” You snap slightly, just wanting the thick tension and jarring want to subside. All the quiet did was reinforce the tension and awkwardness. You two finished up the dishes and headed back towards your rooms that were right across the hall from one another. Denji turned to you before you could slip away and grabbed your arm softly. You turned, hoping the nerves weren’t showing on your face.
“Are you-,” He scratched the back of his head, he seemed like the nervous one. “Are you mad at me?” He asks as you furrow your brows, shaking your head.
“No.”
“Oh good,” He breathes out. “Because it’s killing me not to kiss you again.”
“Denji,” You said in surprise, eyes glancing at Aki's door. You didn’t like Aki the way everyone thought you did, he was more like the cool cousin you wanted to impress. Denji catches the look and swallows.
“Oh, I see.” He says almost dejectedly.
“It’s- it’s not like that.” You say with a sigh.
“You don’t have to lie, I get it.” He says with a sort of forced kind smile.
“I’m not lying.” You snap quietly, running a hand through your hair. “It’s not like that.” You stressed as he pursed his lips and nodded his head. He didn’t believe you obviously and the jealousy on his face was apparent. “I’ll prove it.” You say as Denji just watches you. You yank him by the shirt back against your lips and that familiar buzz in your stomach flutters again. Kissing Denji felt like tumbling off the side of a cliff. Freefalling towards something certain to kill you. That was until his arms tense around you and that freefalling slows to a gentle stop. There was nothing gentle about Denji until he kissed you. He seemed like a different person entirely in this moment and you needed space before you did something stupid so you pulled back, his eyes are still closed and that’s the first time you think Denji looks beautiful. It freaks you out.
“Good night.” You say hoarsely, slipping out of his hold into your room, pressing the door closed. Your heart is thudding in your ears as you step back until the backs of your knees hit your bed and you fall on it. You stare at the door, willing your heart to stop beating so erratically, flexing your shaking hands. You kissed Denji three times and each time was better than the last. As unbelievable as that was.
Denji watched your door slam in his face as he staggered back, blushing and dizzy. He couldn’t contain the smile that plastered to his lips as he balled his fists, pumping them in excitement. Denji only had eyes for you, he thought you were so cool and calm and collected. Always level headed and smart. He thought the world of you but never really thought you’d feel anything but annoyance towards him. But clearly, he was wrong, and he’d do anything to keep it that way.

not a request necessarily i just love talking about addison
imagine if youre really unwell during a shift and addison finds out and goes to see you. when she gets there her heart aches. you’re her best fellow and also…
smaller little imagine
i’m here
Addison hadn’t seen you for a few hours. Ever since your surgery a while ago, she hasn’t seen you roaming the halls. She imagined you were just tired, as the two of you didn’t get much sleep last night after another surgery, which took all night.
And truth be told, after any surgery you usually crash for an hour or two - even just after a routine procedure. But she was getting worried now because it’s nearing five hours and you still haven’t reappeared.
Not to mention you missed breakfast with her, and from the people she’s spoken with, you haven’t left the on-call room you entered earlier.
Izzie offered to show her to the on-call room she spotted you entering earlier today. She stops in front of the door, “She should be in there.”
“Thank you, Dr. Stevens. I owe you,” Addison presses her lips together in a tight and anxious smile.
“It’s no problem, really,” Izzie nods vigorously. “I am just as worried about her as you are.”
Addison takes a deep breath and tries to reassure herself that nothing is wrong with you, but is unable to calm her nerves. The only person who is able to do that these days is you.
She furrows her eyes and prays you’re just sleeping as she opens the door with a creak. On the other side of the door is you laying in a fetal position on the bed. She tilts her head trying to figure out what’s wrong with you, and it comes to her when you let out a strangled cough.
Addison moves to sit on the end of the bed, her gentle hand coming to soothingly rub your shoulder.
“Mm,” You roll over towards her, your face coming to smoosh itself into her side. “I’m tired, Addie.”
“I see,” Addison nodded and ran her hand through your hair. It was damp with sweat and her suspicions came true when she turned her hand over to put on your forehead. “I think you’re sick, darling.”
“No,” You shake your head. “I can’t be. We have surgeries to get to. What time is it?”
“Uh..” Addison looks at her phone, seeing it’s about ten in the morning. “Five hours?”
“What?!” You try to sit up, but you begin to get dizzy so you have to lay back down.
“It’s okay, I promise,” Addison’s hands make their way back to your scalp.
“Just give me a few minutes,” One of your hands makes it to Addison’s thigh, and her other hand comes down to hold yours.
“No, you need to rest,” She squeezes your hand reassuringly.
You groan.
“Why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling good?” Addison frowns down at you. “I would have let you sit a surgery out.”
“Because I felt much better earlier,” You promised. “My throat was a little sore, but now I feel like death. I don’t know if I can stand without passing out.”
“Well it’s a great thing you’re surrounded by doctors, now, isn’t it?” Addison moves a piece of your hair and tucks it behind your ear. “How about you just rest for a few more hours and we’ll reevaluate after.”
Addison moves to get up, but you attempt to pull her back, and she looks at you with her eyebrows raised.
“Please stay,” You cry softly. “Your skin is cold and I’m hot.”
“Okay,” Addison gives in, sliding under the covers beside you. “I’ll cancel my surgeries for the next few hours, okay? We’ll push them back.”
You lay your head on Addison’s chest so you can feel her heart beating - there’s a weird comfort to it - and her arms wrap around your shoulders to hold you against her.
“Wait we have that big surgery later—“ You try to sit up again, but Addison pulls you back to her chest.
“I don’t care,” Addison says. “If you need me here, I’m here.”
“Okay,” Your hand finds a sliver of skin that is exposed from her scrub top lifting, and it rests there.
Addison swallows nervously, trying to ignore how good your hand feels on hers as she pulls her phone out to text Callie to let her know to cancel all her surgeries.
Because her heart ached for you, and if you wanted or needed her, she would be there in a heartbeat.

You were new to the neighborhood, so no wonder why people were looking out their windows when you arrived with a moving van. Or maybe it’s because someone actually wanted to live in the house that everyone avoided because of its past.
A couple years ago, a man in his early 20’s, along with his brother, got brutally murdered in the same exact house you were now standing in. And it was yours. Nothing seemed off, but you can definitely feel a sense of sadness and anger. ‘From what?’ people may ask, but you didn’t really know yourself. All you know is that the parents moved across the world after the incident, wanting to get far away from the place that caused them so much hurt. Which is understandable.
But here you were. In that house, standing in the middle of an empty, soon to be, living room. Smiling at the ideas running through your head as you started unboxing things.
You had drug all the furniture in and placed them randomly around the room for now until you got to decorating.
You quickly made work as you unboxed everything for the bathroom, your bedroom, and anything else you had for the time being. You saved the kitchen for last, knowing that’d take you the most time with how much stuff you have from your parents and other family members.
As you started to unpack all the kitchenware you had, you quickly were made aware of your surroundings.
“Well hello!” You jumped as you heard a deep, british voice come from behind you. Quickly grabbing a knife from the holder on the counter, you turned around to see a man, brown curly hair sitting on top of his head with a grey crewneck and black jeans on, probably somewhere in his early 20’s, smiling at you.
“Who- who are you?!” You asked, pointing the knife at him as to defend yourself. Yet all he did was laugh and shake his head.
“You don’t know who I am?! Also sweetheart, you can put that down. That won’t do anything for you.” The man said as he stood up from the chair he sat in, standing taller than you thought he would, pointing at the knife. Before he could take another steps forward, you threatened him once more.
“I swear- I’m not afraid to use this! Don’t come any further!” You shakingly told the tall man in front of you.
“Darling I promise that won’t do anything-“ as he started to take another step forward, you threw the knife at him. The knife ended up lodged into his stomach. He froze and looked at you with the most disappointed face you’ve ever seen.
“Ow? Seriously sweetheart, what do you want me to say?!” He questioned as he took the knife out of his stomach. It was clean. He was clean. No blood on the knife nor soaking up his shirt.
“What the hell-“ you said as you looked at him with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows.
“Don’t look so scared! It’s not as bad as it looks, I promise.” The guy tried to joke but you just shook your head and rubbed your eyes, wanting to get out of this fucked up dream.
“This isn’t real, this isn’t real-“ you repeated as you turned towards the sink and splashed water on your face.
“What’s not real? Me?! Because let me tell me you darling-“ you quickly jumped back from the sink, now seeing the stranger sitting on the counter next to it. “Don’t be so jumpy love, I don’t bite- I mean, unless you want me too.”
You rolled your eyes and quickly shook your head to gather your thoughts. “Ok- you better explain what’s going on and fast.”
The man sighed and hoped down from the counter. “How about introductions first yeah? We got off at the wrong foot. I’m William Watson-Gold. You may call me Wilbur or Wil, either is fine.” Wilbur said as he stepped closer to you. You moved back, bumping into the island and grasping the counter as if it’d protect you from this super attractive man in front of you. “What’s your name sweetness?” He smirked as he leant down to meet your eyes.
“Y/n.” You replied with a monotoned voice, not wanting him to know the effect he had on you so fast.
Wilbur’s smirk turned into one of a smile in ways. His eyes stared into yours as almost to examine who you were and what your backstory was. Like he wanted to get to know you. But he quickly snapped out of his head and took a few steps back, the smirk being thrown back on his face as he looks in the living room.
“You can come out now Tom.” Wil yelled out as you quickly turned to the entrance of the kitchen.
“Fucking finally- you need to stop flirting with them! It’s very uncomfortable to watch!” The boy, Tom, complained as he hopped onto the island counter.
“Ok- what the fuck?!” You yelled as you waved your hands around, trying to figure out what was going on in your home.
“Wait- do they not know we’re-“
“Dead? No, I haven’t gotten there yet. Now continuing my explanation- Me and Tom here are the two unfortunate men that got murdered in this house. We’ve been stuck in this shit hole ever since with very little human interaction besides each other.” Wilbur explained as he leant against the refrigerator.
“Which is why he’s being so flirty with yo- ow!” Tom yelled out as Wilbur punched his arm and glared at him.
“So- you two are, dead?”
“As dead as dead gets.” Wilbur said as he picked up one of the apples you just placed in the fruit bowl and bit into it. “Fuck- I forget how good food taste sometimes!”
“Wait-“ you went up to Wilbur and grabbed his hands, feeling the coldness his body carried with him. You were thinking your hand would go right through him like the shows portray- but your hand stayed perfectly in his. Wilbur would never admit it, but it felt like your hand was meant to be in his. Like it was a puzzle piece that fit perfectly together. “Then how can I touch you? Isn’t my hand supposed to like- go through you or some shit?”
“Stupid movies. No. That shit isn’t real! But us- we are as real as it gets.” Tom said as he took a bite out of the apple Wil stole.
You nodded as you slowly let go of Wilbur’s hand, looking up at him to see his eyes furrowed and almost saddened at the thought of losing that warmth you provided him.
As you both continued to look at each other, not wanting to let the serene moment go, Tom noticed the silence and looks up at the two. Rolling his eyes, his hopped of the counter and stood in between the two and turned to look at Wilbur.
“I’m going to my room- it finally has a bed again and I need my beauty sleep. And for god sake Wil, STOP FLIRTING!” Tom yelled down the stairs. Wilbur scoffed as he looked down at the floor, hiding his face from as it turned red.
“Um- so you guys are just going to be here? With me?” You asked as you went back to unloading everything. Wilbur cleared his throat as he looked back up at you, seeing how you struggled to get the cup on the highest shelve. He smiled and went over to you, grabbing the cup and placing it for you. “Thanks.”
“Yeah, no problem. And yeah, unfortunately. But! We can be somewhat fun! At least you won’t be alone.” Wilbur stated as he moved out of the room and turned to look at you. “I’ll let you be for now darling. Just call my name if you need anything.” Wilbur nodded his head as he walked towards the stairs, disappearing once he passed the wall.
He did have a point. At least you won’t be alone. That was the one thing that worried you.
But , how the hell are you supposed to live with two-
Ghost.

MW3 SPOILERS
Drabble(?) Writing under the cut.
A letter from a dead man (to another) —
[Soap left a letter for Ghost, just in case the worst happened— and turns out, it did.]
To Simon Riley,
I guess saying I’m sorry is the best way to start things off here.
Don’t ask why I got the impulse to write this, alright? Last mission got me thinking a lot. It got me thinking about life, about you, about myself. Realising that I loved you, and you love me too, got me thinking even more. We could’ve died, Simon. Died without knowing how much we fucking loved each other too, Jesus. Talk about a sobfest.
Took a lot of courage to admit it. I saw that you struggled too, L.t. But I’m glad we did, even though it wasn’t the most romantic place to say it. While we were hiding from enemies too, for christ’s sake. But that’s what got us to say it and I don’t regret it one bit. Especially not the part afterwards.
Okay, getting sidetracked here. What I wanted to say is that I’ve always known, Simon. I’ve always known that you were mine and I am yours. I plan on making it official too, gonna take you to the nicest place and have the fanciest meal before I get down on my knees. As long as you didn’t beat me to it. Knowing you though, maybe you will.
But that’s not what we’re here for, are we?
You’re reading this now because I didn’t make it. I don’t want to think about it, about a future where I can’t see you anymore, but if I haven’t burned this and it’s in your hands, then that’s what happened. We didn’t get married either. Because I promised myself to write another letter if we had. Our line of work, gotta be prepared for the worst, you know?
I’m sorry.
Whatever happened, I’m so fucking sorry.
I’m sorry for making you feel like this again. I know you’ve lost a lot, went through a lot of horrendous shit you shouldn't have, came out of everything a Ghost for fuck’s sake, and I was really, really hoping it wouldn’t - won’t happen to us. But it did. Because you’re reading this, I know it did.
I owe you so much, Simon. I owe you a cosy little place of our own, I owe you a kiss every day you wake up and every night you close your eyes, I owe you hugs, lots of them, whenever you need it. Whenever you don’t need it too. I owe you my heart, my soul, my entire being, every single little thing that you can take. It’s yours anyway. I owe you so much. But I couldn’t even give you myself, my name, my anything now.
Don’t you dare blame yourself for any of it.
If anything, it’s probably my fault. Blame me, okay? Put everything on my name, curse me to high heavens and hell, enough to have my body rolling in my grave and all. Don’t let me rest even after my death. Anything but blaming yourself for this. You’re not fucking allowed to put this on yourself, do you understand? I’m haunting you if you do. Better watch out, Simon Riley. Especially if you want a good night’s sleep or a good cup of tea from here on out.
Jokes aside. You know I tried, right? I would’ve fought the world with my bare hands for you, pretty man. Would've wrangled death and crawled to your side at the expense of fuck everything. I’m just. Sorry, I guess. I’m sorry it wasn’t enough. I’m sorry that I couldn’t rip my heart out and hand it out just for you to hold.
Fuck. My eyes are tearing up. Don’t mind if there’s some dried up tears on this. I’m trying. Really am, but I don’t know what’s worse, Simon. I don't know. Imagining a world where I can’t see your bonnie face again, or imagining you alone after everything. Bloody fuck. I don't think any amount of sorries can fix this. But I’ll say it again.
I’m really fucking sorry, Simon.
I love you so much, you daft old man. I love you beyond anything I could say, write, do or express. I love you so much I would’ve done anything just to be a John Mactavish Riley and stay by your side.
But you’re reading this.
And you know I can’t.
A lifetime’s worth of sorries can’t fix this, I know. Gonna kiss and hold you extra hard the next time I see you, L.t. Sorry in advance, even though that’s probably the ‘past’ for you. I’m planning to yank that mask right off, press my lips against every square inch of that pretty boy face and tell you how much I love you until you get sick of it. Until you have to force me away, probably grumbling and asking me what’s wrong because you’re not used to it.
You’re not used to being loved, are you?
I love you so much.
I don’t know what to do with this love sometimes. Death can’t stop it either, if you’re wondering. Know that my heart was bursting with it till the end. Know that you were probably the last thought in my head. You’ll always have my love, my soul, dead or alive. What we have goes beyond life and death. You know that, I know that. Wherever I am, if there’s even ‘anything’ beyond, know that I’m missing you to hell and back, Simon Riley.
Don’t be eager to follow me. Please. I want you to live. You’ve been dead for so long, it hurts my heart to even think about you returning to how you were before me. Empty eyes, not letting anything or anyone close, a sad fucker underneath that brooding mask. Pretty too but you already know that. Don’t be a stubborn shit about this, I’m waiting for you. There’s nothing else for me to do.
I don’t know if you’ll get it too but I’ll keep the rings I bought for us next to the letter. Proof, maybe, I don’t know. I want you to have it. Keep it safe. Took a lot to get your size right, couldn’t even risk asking directly because you’d know immediately, smart fucker. Did you know you’re starting to sleep like a log these days? Felt like yesterday that you woke up to the sound of paper shuffling from the other room. Here you are, sleeping like a wee little babe without knowing any better. Anyway, you’re mine.
I’m yours.
Always have been, always will.
Take care, Simon.
PS: I love you.
PPS: I love you a lot. Don’t do anything stupid, I know it sounds real hypocritical of me if you’re reading this but seriously, don’t. See you soon, Simon.
PPPS: Preferably not soon-soon. Grow grey hair before you get here, see the world, do everything you want first. Jesus, I don’t even know what you’re doing right now. Don’t mope and waste away, you still have my love, you tit.
Goodbye, for now.
[This is an excerpt from the wip of the next chapter of my fic, Beyond Life and Death. It'll probably be updated within a few days, the hurt/comfort's going to be there. This part is just hurt lol.]

“Ch’ari. What are you doing.”
The aetheric silhouette that is the Warrior of Light freezes in the middle of hobbling across the hallway. “I am… getting… a drink?” He says.
“Oh?” Y’shtola raises an eyebrow.
His aether flickers. The shape inches forward slowly, as if she were a dinosaur and couldn’t see him if he moved really slow. “I am… getting a very specific drink. From… Othard.”
“Are you now.”
“…You are getting me a very specific drink from Othard?” Ch’ari tries.
Y’shtola reaches behind her for her staff, and Ch’ari turns and scuttles as fast as his body will take him back into his room where he’s supposed to be.
-
Alisaie scowls. “I am bored.”
“No kidding,” Ch’ari whines. “When are we allowed to leave?!”
“I am allowed to leave tomorrow. You will be staying here until you have resolved not to be a fool and throw your life away for a victory lap,” Alisaie snaps, and then her expression turns down. “Or at least until you can walk again.”
“Seems hypocritical to me. They’re letting you out early.”
“I’m almost healed!”
“By the loosest definition.”
“It wasn’t even a wound, Ari.”
“Hm.”
“Look—“ Alisaie says, pride in being Not Bedridden stoked by his dismissals, and pushes her way out of her bed at Dawn’s Respite to march over to Ch’ari’s bed, indignant. And still, notably, a bit shaky, after concentrated lightning magic left her too hurt to stand. Ch’ari still thinks they’re all stupid, every Scion, right back at them, for not tending to their own injuries well enough to heal themselves before pouring almost the entire Ragnarok’s worth of aether into him. Stupid, dumb, idiots. They’d already saved the universe at that point. We don’t need eight incapacitated scions when we could have had just the one.
“You look like a baby amaro,” Ch’ari says, instead of voicing any of those thoughts. “Like a newborn foal. Damnation, looks like you’ll have to stay here and keep me company.”
Alisaie flicks him — gently, even though he’s not even got a head wound. “Ari. I promise we’re not going anywhere. And you know if you asked him to, Alphinaud would stay with you for days reading fantasy novels or textbooks at you for entertainment.”
His ears droop. “I know. But he needs to sleep.”
“And so do you.”
“And so do I,” Ch’ari grumbles in concession. “I am just not used to not moving. I want to kill something.”
Alisaie coughs out a startled laugh, and Ch’ari grins. “Gods, as do I, but we have our orders! Two weeks. No travel, no fights.”
“Sneak a coblin in here when you get out of this joint and I’ll pay for your sweets for a month.”
“Not a chance.”
-
“Not that I doubt your s-sSS-killed hands, Krile, I would never. But do bandages need changing thisoften?”
“In this specific case, yes,” Krile says, clearly not willing to entertain him while he chatters distractingly. “Might I remind you you were falling apart before we got to you with healing magics, and therefore you will be suffering the consequences for as long as a normal wound takes to heal naturally.”
“Peachy,” Ch’ari groans. He should have been better at avoiding that dumb voidsent Zenos summoned, but it always hid right out of his line of sight until it pounced. Clearly, a cheater, even if its master wouldn’t do a thing like that. Nah, he’d challenge him head-on, evening the playing ground until it was just strength against strength, no tricks, no unfair advantage. Pure, untouched adrenaline, bloodlust, the hunger for feeling alive.
… Ch’ari will not miss him. But he will think of their encounters as long as it takes him to find something like it, if he ever does. Which is exactly what the prince wanted, drat. He should have taken Zenos to the Gold Saucer. Maybe he’d get really into chocobo racing instead of death matches.
He’s jolted out of his thoughts by a sharp tug in his ribs. “Ow!”
“Sorry! Sorry,” Krile says, already casting a light soothing glow over the sticky mess there. Ch’ari buries his head further into the pillow with a groan.
The door creaks. “My, someone sounds grumpy they’re being tended to,” comes a voice, and Tataru trots in with a small box in her hands. Ch’ari’s ears perk up.
“Am not grumpy, I’m injured. What’s that?”
“Medicine,” Tataru says bluntly, and then gets a sly grin. “And a handful of pastry fish, fresh from the oven.”
“Tataru you’re my favorite. Have I ever told you you’re my favorite? You are. Hands down,” Ch’ari says, already sniffing the air to catch the smell, his tail whacking the edge of the bed. “I don’t even care that it’s bribery to get me to drink that foul tincture, I love you.”
Tataru laughs, bright and open, and even Krile huffs a bit in amusement.
-
Alphinaud is asleep when he wanders into the main rooms, and Ch’ari considers dropping something onto the table to wake him up, but decides against it. He’s not all that sure how mana works — or mana overexertion, or… well, Lyse called it a chakra, but Ari isn’t a monk, and he’s not sure what straining or breaking one of them entails. He just knows the kid needs to sleep a bunch to get his aether back, and Ari shouldn’t be startling him so bad he breaks something again. If that’s how that works. He’d rather not risk it.
Instead, he wanders over to Estinien, who is brooding in his Dragoon Corner. Also seemingly asleep until one eye cracks open, trained on his approach.
“Dragoon,” Ch’ari says.
“…Cat,” Estinien replies in greeting. Ari snorts, the joke he made about having nine lives clearly amusing or at least annoying the Elezen to this day.
“Guarding your nest, are we? I didn’t think we’d see you stick around this long.”
Estinien grunts. “Aye. Under normal circumstances I’d rather be off by now. But as long as…” he frowns. It’s always difficult for him to differentiate between draconic instincts and his own, and then subsequently translate them into human words, something he and Ch’ari have only spoken of briefly when Nidhogg’s lingering presence wanted to clash with what was left of Hraesvelgr in Ch’ari’s body. Simultaneously feral and overtly made of higher thought, the presence of the dragon is as long-lived as the beasts themselves. “As long as my ward is in need of protection, I will stay,” he settles on. And then his expression squishes, pained. “And… the pink one threatened me if I were to leave without a clean bill of health.”
Ch’ari laughs, then covers his mouth quickly to muffle it. “Ah, the jailer. No escaping that.”
“Indeed.”
-
“Raha, you need any help with anything?”
G’raha looks up from his books, surprised. The Warrior is standing over his shoulder, swath in bandages and a simple shirt and slacks, his tail swishing. “Do I need any help with anything?”
“Yes.”
“Well, no, I don’t think so… resigned to being monitored as we are, I have no new tasks which require my attention, and so…”
“Let me rephrase,” Ch’ari interrupts. “Please do you need help with anything.”
G’raha blinks. And then splits into a smile, ears giving a quick one-two wiggle. “My friend, I am quite sure we can find something to do. Something very calm and stressless, but something nonetheless. What is your opinion on magic circles?”

Steve was sulking on the couch when you came home that afternoon, beaming brighter than the sun.
“How’d it go?” he asked, meeting you on the kitchen tile.
“Amazing!” you replied.
“I told you it would, didn’t I?”
“You are talking to the Roane County Historical Society’s Lead Education Coordinator!” You were practically exploding with excitement. “I mean, Floyd said the interview was just a formality to make the Board happy-”
“You sound so professional,” Steve remarked.
“-but I did it!”
“I knew you would,” Steve said, punctuating with a kiss to either cheek. “You’re the smartest person I know.”
“Shut up.”
“And now you get to be a professional nerd,” Steve teased with a smile. “We should go out to dinner. To celebrate.”
“We should,” you agreed. “But I wanna talk to you about something else first.”
“We’re really living the highlife now,” Steve jested. “Dental insurance and all.”
“Steve!”
“Sorry, I’ll shut up,” he relented, but his smile stayed right where it was. “Serious time.”
“Floyd asked me about finding a replacement for the front desk,” you explained, “and I had an idea.”
“Okay?”
“And if you hate it, we can just move on like I never said anything.” You were beginning to ramble. “But, I mean, I think it’s a really good idea, and it doesn’t have to be forever if you don’t want it to be, it can be just for now, and-”
“I think you’re gonna start overheating if you keep working yourself up like that,” Steve cautioned with a smirk.
“Right, sorry,” you said shyly.
“What’s your idea?”
“I thought that, if you wanted to, you could replace me at the front desk.”
“Me?” Steve questioned, surprised by the suggestion. He didn’t really see himself as the museum type.
“Just think about it. You’d have better pay and better hours,” you explained. “We’d be working the same schedule in the same building, and we’d both be on the same insurance.”
“I’m not really qualified,” Steve supplied. “Am I?”
“Sure you are,” you responded.
“I don’t actually know anything about Roane County history,” Steve pointed out. “I’m pretty sure that’s a big prerequisite for working at the historical society, isn’t it?”
“Honestly, not really,” you said. “As long as you know which floor everything’s on, you’ll be fine. Besides, you’ll learn it all on the job, anyway.”
“You really think it’s a good idea?”
“Yep. Floyd thinks so too.” You stepped away from him to shed your bag and shoes on the side of the couch.
Your boss Floyd was an odd man, eccentric and contagiously enthusiastic. He was always dressed like he was about to go out on a hike, and nothing about his personality really read as “history museum curator” to Steve, aside from his (somewhat off putting) devotion to the subject. You’d told him about how he used to be a hippie in college and never really dropped the act, and that apparently he never wore shoes when he was in his office, though Steve had yet to see that bit for himself.
“I’ll train you for the first few weeks before I go on leave,” you said. “Which means you’ll get to work with me until you know the ropes.”
“Oh, well, that does sound nice.”
“I promise, the hardest thing you’ll have to do is order the office supplies every other week,” you said. “What do you think?”
“Do you think I’d actually be any good?”
“I think you’d be amazing, and that it’s a fantastic idea, and that I’m still mad at you for quitting your job at Family Video without warning me four months before we’re having a baby, so you kinda owe me.”
That had been a fun conversation full of lots of expletives.
Steve was still feeling hesitant, but you were staring at him with some heart wrenching puppy dog eyes. You were kind of handing him a perfect opportunity on a silver platter.
“Please?” you implored. His apprehension crumbled into dust at how much you wanted him to say yes.
“You really think it’s a good idea?” Steve asked, uneasiness seeping through his words.
“A hundred percent.”
“Okay,” Steve answered. “Yeah.”
“Really?” you asked with bright, excited eyes. “You want too?”
“I think it’s a great idea, my little genius,” Steve said.
“I’ll call Floyd in the morning!” you exclaimed before rocketing from your spot on the couch to wrap your arms around Steve in a hug. “Oh, we definitely have to go out to dinner now.”
“Italian place on seventh?”
“Oh, yeah,” you replied. “I started thinking about that ravioli earlier today, and if I don’t get my hands on some, I think I might cry.”
“Oh, well, we can’t have that,” Steve said through a chuckle. “Gotta get my girl some ravioli.”
Steve’s interview was the following Monday. It was three questions long, and it took all of five minutes.
“Do you want this job?” Floyd asked him from across his desk. Every inch was covered in something or other, stray papers and knick-knacks. The whole office was filled with clutter. Any wall space not taken up by cabinets and shelves was completely covered in posters and frames, every shelf filled with tchotchkes and artifacts. Lamps in every corner lit the room, along with a window lined with potted plants that looked like they were about to take over the whole wall. The scent of essential oils permeated the room, and you had been right to give Steve the warning; Floyd had no shoes on.
“Yes, I do,” Steve answered.
“Can you type?”
“Yes, I can.”
“Can you work the register in the gift shop?” Floyd seemed to be writing some very thorough notes, though Steve couldn’t imagine what they might possibly be about.
“Yes, sir.”
“Great!” Floyd said, dumping the clipboard he had been scribbling on back onto his desk, the force making the surrounding papers flutter to the sides. “You’re in.”
“Oh,” Steve said with a blink. “That-that’s it?”
“Do you have any idea how happy I am to get an actual employee in that position?” Floyd asked, elbows resting on the desk. “With her leaving, I thought I was gonna have to find another group of high school interns again.” He shuddered at the thought.
“Oh, well I’m glad that-”
“Never again,” the older man interrupted, almost seeming afraid of the idea. Steve would have laughed if it wasn’t for the dead serious gaze he was being punctured with.
“Right.”
“I mean, god love ‘em, but if I have to watch any more teenagers try to stumble their way through a conversation with the donors, I might have an aneurysm.”
“O-okay.”
The first couple of weeks were slow going; signing things in, signing things out, learning the computer system (“Baby, there is absolutely no reason for this to be so complicated!”). Floyd had warned him that it was peak season, but apparently, even peak season was still, at least according to Steve, incredibly idle.
“What do you actually do all day?” Steve asked. You shot him a look. “I mean, it just feels like there’s a lot of downtime, is all.”
“Oh, yeah?” you teased.
“You’re so good at your job, you just get everything done so quickly.”
“Thank you,” you said. “Uh, homework? Reading? There are a couple games on the computer, but I never bothered to learn how to actually play them.”
“Hurray,” Steve sardonically remarked.
“I’ve got plenty of books you can borrow,” you told him. “Maybe we could set you up with a hobby, or something. I think you could do wonders with a pair of knitting needles.”
It wasn’t all boring. Despite the strange way about him, Floyd was very funny and took a liking to Steve right away. There were also a handful of volunteers who would show up from time to time, all sweet old ladies who were thrilled to finally be able to meet your beau.
Today’s excitement came in the form of a day camp field trip.
“Gird your loins,” Floyd warned as the yellow school bus unloaded outside.
“Okay, all you’ve got to do is sign them in and hand out the stickers,” you told Steve, handing him a clipboard and a roll of sticker dots. “I’m in charge of everything else.”
Day camp children and chaperones, all clad in matching sky blue tee shirts, filed into the lobby with varying levels of excitement. You stood out like a sore thumb, dressed in all black, save for the neon orange lanyard on your neck that read ‘TOUR GUIDE’ in thick black lettering.
You’d been practicing for today all week long. It was the first of many tours led entirely on your own, and you were getting a little bit in your own head about it; you’d forced Steve into three after hours practice tours, which had actually been pretty mutually beneficial. Steve got to learn a thing or two about his new place of employment, and you were prepped and ready for all the most ridiculous questions Steve could come up with.
Steve handed out the stickers, orange to match your lanyard, going down the line of children  reaching a trio of moms huddled together in the back of the group.
“No, thank you,” one of the women spat before Steve had the chance to ask if any of them wanted one. Steve vaguely recognized her; her husband worked for his father. She had attended many a dinner party he had been forced to sit through. Steve couldn’t remember her name.
“You sure?” Steve asked, putting on his most charming smile to win them over. “They’re a very flattering shade of traffic cone.”
“I doubt we’ll get lost,” another supplied through a frosty red, artificially saccharine smile.
Steve retreated back to the desk while you gathered everyone and said your hello’s. As you herded the kids into the main hall, he noticed the women had huddled together and began whispering, though they weren’t very good at keeping their gossip quiet.
“That’s Gary’s boss’s kid, right? The one you were telling me about?” Steve overheard one of them ask.
“Yep,” the other answered. She then gestured towards you, pointing a finger from around her lipstick stained to-go coffee cup. “And that’s the pregnant girlfriend.”
“God, are you serious?” the third asked, incredulous. “And she’s supposed to be the good role model here? Teaching our children?”
“I know, it’s ridiculous.” It took everything in Steve’s power not to get up and slap the coffee right out of her manicured hand. “I’m shocked they didn’t fire her as soon as they heard. I would’ve.”
Steve knew that the two of you had become the talk of the town, how could he not have? It wasn’t like the two of you were doing much to hide it anymore. You really wouldn’t have been able to at this point anyway, but there had been no shotgun wedding to cover anything up, either.
For the most part, people had been congratulatory. Surprised, definitely, but congratulatory nonetheless. Well, except for Robin. And his parents. And Hopper, who at this point, was one more wrong move away from pulling his shotgun out on Steve.
Okay, so strangers and vague acquaintances had been congratulatory.
To your faces.
It wasn’t as though either of you were ashamed about the situation at hand. It had taken Steve a long while to grapple with the fact that it wasn’t wrong of him to be happy, that this wasn’t the great tragedy everyone around him seemed to be so convinced it was. Not that he ever thought it was, not really. It had seemed as though everyone around him thought it irresponsible to be anything but remorseful, but how could he be? He was definitely scared, and so were you, but there was an ever flowing thrum of joy that tinged every moment of his day when he thought about the little one waiting for him, for the both of you.
That being said, all of the snide comments and judgmental side eyes you two had been collecting since April were beginning to be too much. The disgust in that mother’s voice at the idea of her children being around you made him feel like nothing more than some reckless, idiot kid who’d ruined your life by not being careful enough.
Was that really what your future was going to look like? Mothers turning up their noses at the idea of you teaching their children? Getting turned down for jobs because Steve hadn’t pulled out like he should have? He had been so preoccupied with doctor’s appointments and baby clothes that he hadn’t even thought about it. Of course, Floyd was going to give you a job, he loved you and probably didn’t even believe in marriage to begin with, but what about everyone else? The two of you had been concocting dreams of leaving Hawkins for a good decade, but if no one else would be willing to give you the time of day because of the baby, had that all been for not?
Maybe they were all right. Maybe he really had ruined your life.
Steve quickly began to appreciate the quiet of his new job. His whole life had been so hectic and stressful over the last few months (well, the last few years, really), that the slow moving days of making copies and handing out museum maps were a much appreciated respite.
It didn’t last long.
Saturday, June 24th, 1989. You and Steve had spent the day indoors, the sticky summer air too stifling for you to bear suffering through. The 90 degree weather that Indiana became swathed in every year had brought back new bouts of nausea and headaches for you, and you’d spent the whole day splayed across the sofa doing your best to keep your saltine crackers down. Steve had been bringing you a constant stream of ice water and popsicles, worrying about what the rest of summer might do to you; the season had just begun, yet it already seemed to have taken you out.
The sun was finally beginning to set, bringing the temperatures down with it and leaving you in slightly better spirits. You’d just put a record on (the new Cure album that you’d been playing nonstop) and sat at the kitchen table, watching intently as he chopped up salad veggies for your dinner.
“Stop stealing all of the tomatoes!” Steve chastised you as you sneakily grabbed another thick wedge, dousing it in salt. “There aren’t gonna be any left by the time I’m done.”
“Maybe not for you,” you quipped, a small rivulet of tomato juice tipping down your chin as you spoke around the bite.
“You cruel thing,” Steve remarked with a smile. He turned around to pull the dressing out of the fridge. “Not leaving any tomato for the love of your life? I mean, really, that’s just-”
The sound of the phone ringing interrupted Steve’s joke. It was nearly nine thirty, too late for most people to be calling, though he knew a certain group of teenagers for whom common courtesy didn’t really seem to matter, especially when it came to him.
“It’s probably just one of the kids,” Steve remarked as he went to answer it. “I told them my chauffeur services are over, but I swear, it went in one ear and right out the other. Hello?”
“Steven?”
Oh.
Definitely not the voice he was expecting to hear. Actually, it was probably the last voice he was expecting.
“Mom?” he asked. You whipped your head to face him. “Is everything alright? I wouldn’t usually expect you to call this late.”
‘I wouldn’t have expected you to call at all,’ is what he really meant, but he didn’t say it.
“Yes, well,” his mother said. Her voice sounded tinny over the phone, and Steve could hear all sorts of commotion from behind her.
“Where are you?” Steve asked, though his question was quickly answered when he heard the sound of a loudspeaker page for a doctor. “Is everything okay? It sounds like you’re in a hospital.”
“Your father’s had a heart attack.”
His head went cloudy, and he was sure that his ears weren’t working right, and the drive to the hospital was taken in complete silence. Not a sound, outside of your quiet sniffles; your eyes had been filled with tears since the moment Steve told you what had happened, though they had yet to drop.
You’d known Steve’s parents just about as long as Steve had; of course you would be upset, too. He hadn’t really thought about that until that moment, and it made him feel like a bit of an asshole.
Granted, he couldn’t really think of much right now even if he tried.
He hadn’t spoken to his mother in almost three months, and that last conversation had been far from a cheery one. He had handed his mother her worst nightmare on a silver platter. He’d broken her heart, effectively ruined everything. His eyes flashed over to you in the passenger seat, trying so hard not to cry, your hand resting gently on the baby bump that was the very source of said heartbreak.
Steve parked the car and let out a shaky sigh.
The hospital was freezing cold, made even worse by the blistering heat outside. You and Steve were blasted by a wave of frigid air conditioning as you walked through the sliding glass doors. Sterile and unwelcoming. By the time he’d walked up to the front desk, he realized he couldn’t get any of the words he needed to say out of his mouth.
“Oh, um, hello,” you said, having expected him to speak first. “Hi, sorry. We’re here to see Ronald Harrington?”
“Relation?”
“This is his son, and, um,” you hesitated for a moment, “daughter-in-law.”
The woman at the desk seemed unconvinced but told you the room number anyway.
Fluorescent lights, linoleum tile. Beeps and blinks, doctors and nurses racing through halls and sat at bedsides. Room 604 came too quickly for Steve to steady himself. Another shaky sigh, you squeezed his hand as you opened the door.
There was a nurse there, and his father in the bed with tubes and wires going every which way. He was not awake. Steve suddenly knew, as simple as breathing, that he would not be waking back up. His mom said over the phone that the doctor told her there was a chance that he might, but in an instant, he knew they were wrong. Sugar coating it as an act of kindness, maybe, but he thought providing his mother with false hope was more cruel than anything else.
His mother.
She was sitting next to the bed. Her eyes were rimmed in horrible red and her hands shook as she held those of her husband. She was disheveled, and exhausted, and as soon as she set her eyes on her son, she shot straight up from her chair and pulled him into a hug.
“Mom,” Steve quietly cried as soon as his mother’s arms wrapped around him. He felt horribly small, in the middle of the big bad hospital room.
He hadn’t cried; honestly, his brain hadn’t really had the chance to catch up to everything that was happening around him, but now? God, the floodgates had opened. His mother was crying too, an unsettling sight, but not one he hadn’t seen before. His mother had been brought to tears by her husband god knows how many times, and Steve had always been there to do his very best to fix things for her.
This was different, though. It wasn’t her husband’s cruelty that brought the tears this time, and there wasn’t a single thing Steve could do to fix it.
“Oh,” his mother fussed, brushing her hands over the sides of his face. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’m sorry,” Steve blubbered. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I-”
“Don’t you dare apologize,” his mother said. “You’ve done nothing wrong, alright? Not a single thing.”
You stayed floating by the door, talking to the nurse about the man who never loved him, who was dying right next to him.  A waiting game, at this point.
The hospital room had two cushy chairs for family, and a backless rolling stool surely meant for the doctor. That’s the seat that Steve chose, pulling it up next to the one his mother had chosen. He could vaguely hear the greeting between the two of you, see the hug from the corner of his eye, his mother fussing over you, asking how far along and if you’d been feeling alright. He probably should have been paying attention, but all he could focus on was the way his father was lying there already looking dead.
“Hey, Dad,” he muttered. He couldn’t touch him, couldn’t think to hold his hand like his mother had been, because when in his life had his father ever tried to hold his hand? Pat him on the back, give him a hug? Ron would have called him a sissy if Steve had tried something like that; he always got all weird when things got emotional.
His mother came and sat back in her chair, pulling his stool right up against the arm, and there they sat, waiting. Waiting, waiting, waiting. His mother hoped to stave off the inevitable, Steve hoped it would just happen so that the waiting could stop. Oh, god, that was so awful, wasn’t it? He should be wanting him to wake up, to get better, shouldn’t he? But he knew that wasn’t going to happen, and somehow the feeling of waiting there for his dad to drop dead felt so much worse than it actually happening.
It was well past one in the morning now. You were curled up in your chair, fast asleep. You’d tried so hard to stay awake, but he really didn’t mind. If anything, he preferred it, because it spared you from the horrible anxiety of anticipating something terrible.
He’d been quiet for a while now. He had so many things he wanted to tell his mom, but this absolutely was not the place for any one of those conversations.
“I fear that I’ve been horribly cruel to the two of you,” his mother said, breaking through the quiet without looking away from her husband's sallow face.
“You haven’t been,” Steve assured her. “I promise.”
“I should have been there for you, I should have-” she cut herself off with a ragged sigh.
“It’s fine, really. You were worried about me, that’s all,” he emphasized. “Besides, I kinda needed a good knock to the head like that.”
“You sure did pick a good one,” she said after a moment, in reference to you.
“Yeah, I think so too,” Steve agreed with a small smile. He turned to look at you, tucked under a blanket. Your face was turned toward the window looking out over the hospital's parking lot. The red light of the ‘Hawkins Memorial’ sign cast a soft pink glow across your face from its spot outside, Steve’s last little slice of peace in the middle of this horrible mess. “We’re having a girl.”
Steve hadn’t breached the baby bubble until now. His poor mother was already being pulled through the wringer, and the last thing he wanted to do was open that wound, but he couldn’t help himself.
“Are you really?” his mother asked, a genuine smile in her voice.
“Mhm.” Steve had cried when the two of you found out, you both had. He’d never, ever been happier to be wrong in his entire life.
“Oh, that’s wonderful, Steve.” She grabbed his hand in two of hers.
“I wanted to tell you as soon as we found out,” Steve confessed. “I was gonna call you, I just- I thought it would just end up making it all worse.”
“It wouldn’t have,” she said. “I would have happily answered you.”
“I know.”
“You two have any names picked out yet?” she asked, diffusing the tension the best she could.
“Well, we were gonna go with Piper-”
“Oh, that’s sweet.”
“-but, then she pointed out that since her middle name’s gonna be Robin, she’d end up having two bird names,” Steve explained. “Piper Robin. So, back to the drawing board.”
“Oh, well, you're both smart. You’ll come up with something good.”
“I hope so.”
It didn’t take too long after that.
Ronald Harrington died in the wee hours of a warm June morning, with his wife and son (neither of whom he ever particularly liked) by his side. Meredith wailed at the edge of the bed, you sobbed quietly, and Steve stood stoic between the two of you, trying his absolute hardest to stay put in one piece. He didn’t know what to do.
He found the nearest payphone and called Robin.
“Hello?” Robin croaked, clearly having been woken up by the call.
“Hey, it’s me,” Steve said. He willed the shake in his voice to go away.
“Steve? What the hell are you calling me at four in the morning for?” she questioned. “And don’t say it’s to apologize, because I swear to god-”
“My dad is dead,” he spat out.
“What?”
“He had a heart attack last night, and-” Steve was cut off by a crack in his own voice, “-and now he’s dead.”
“Oh, my god,” Robin replied. “Shit, Steve. Are you okay?”
“I don’t know,” Steve blurted out. He screwed his eyes shut, trying and failing to keep his tears at bay. He shook his head and choked into the phone, “I think that maybe I’m not.”
“Are you at the hospital?” she asked him. Steve could hear movement from the other line.
“Yeah.”
“Do you want me to come down there?”
“Please?” Steve squeaked out.
Steve wasn’t entirely sure how long it took for Robin to get to the hospital because it felt like time was speeding up and slowing down all at once. The doctor was talking to him about next steps and funeral homes, and Steve was hearing it all, and nodding along like he was listening, but it all just sort of blended together in his ears. He was handed a brochure. The doctor left the room.
Robin appeared shortly after that, wearing jeans, but still in her pajama shirt on top. Any resolve Steve had left disappeared in an instant.
“I’m sorry I’ve been such a bitch,” Robin murmured as she hugged him in the hallway just outside the door.
“I was being an asshole. I deserved it,” Steve relented. “Truce?”
“Yeah, truce,” Robin said before turning her attention to you. “Oh, my god, you look like you swallowed a beach ball.”
“Robin!”
“I know,” you (much to Steve’s relief) agreed with a smile. “Feel like it, too.”
You and Steve went home with Meredith that night, back to the childhood home that wasn’t his anymore. Robin headed back to your apartment to feed your cat. Steve would call the funeral home in the morning, and he would cry into your arms tonight.

TMNT The Other Haft AU, Lou vs The Hidden City
Last time on TMNT,
Yoshi (2012 Splinter) convinces Saki (2012 Shredder) to not go look for Lou (Rise Splinter) after he gets kicked out of the Hamato clan.
Action Hero Lou Jitsu got dragged down to the battle Nexus by Big Mama to become the new champion.
So I am kind of stealing someone else's AU, so thanks to the wonderful @camthecatchameleon for the Battle Nexus AU.
Draxum owes a debt to Big Mama and gets tossed into the Nexus. Of Course, big Mama puts Draxum and Lou against each other. Draxum has more rights than most participants but not by much.
Tumblr media
Draxum is 'if you can beat me in a fight' Sexual. When they meet Draxum only as a few more weeks left in the Nexus before he is free, in those weeks he in Lou fall in love. It takes a while, them debating over humanity, sharing tragic backstories and Draxum giving exposition on the hidden City but yeah they are hella gay.
Draxum refuses to levea Lou behind in the hell known as the Battle Nexus. After he is released he instantly goes to the library to look for legal loopholes to make Lou a citizen. The solution: Marrgie. Now he just needs to get Lou alone for long enough for them to swear the oaths.
So he voluntary re-enters the Nexus. Big Mama is over joyed since 'The Baron' had been one of her biggest money makers and his fights with Lou had always drawn the most attention. So she markets this fight to hell and back.
Lou is concerned when he hears that he will be fighting Draxum again because yes the goat did promise to break him out but Lou didn't think he would follow through in any capacity.
During the figth Draxum tells Lou the plan and Lou agrees because he would do anything to get out of here and Draxum is pretty chill once you get past the whole 'I will murder humanity' bit. (Plus, Lou finds him very attractive).
See this is a magic marriage the it dose kinda Magically Bond them which is visible.
The crowd goes silent before some yells
"NEW POWER COUPLE"
Cheers, applause and demands for a proper wedding. Big Mama is pissed but #BaronJitsu is trending the Hidden Internet so there isn't much she can do.
*Insert Massive Celebrity Wedding*
Years go by and Draxum and Lou relise that they actually are in Love, so that's fun.
"I would like Children" Says Draxum in the middle of a movie.
Lou is supirsed but on bored so bip bap bop
TURTLES
Tumblr media
The 'series' would take place in the hidden city and their main goal is taking down Big Mama. The dads didn't want the kids to be involved but they couldn't stop them.
Tumblr media
Big Mama is killed in the climactic battle for the nexus by Lou who takes over the Battle Nexus. It's now a massive tournament and much safer. It still illegal but more moral. People win money, they can opt into death matches and they can choose their opponent.
Tumblr media
Notes:
Draxum and Lou are good dads, they are all very close with there boys and will protect them.
Big Mama is dead, got killed by Lou in the final show down.
Meat Sweats, Repo Mantis, Hypno and the rest exist but are just Big Mama's yokai goons.
During the Series the turtles befriend the extremely angry foot recruit and have a few encounters with the foot clan.
The Turtles are aware that they have human family top side and Apriel did look into the Hamatos for them but when she read that they all died, well the boys were better off dreaming.
The boys don't have the best control over their mystic abilities, but they all unlocked them.

Tangerines and deers- part 2
This one doesn’t have that much tangerine and reader but next chapter will I promise you guys will love it
Send me requests too please 😭 inbox is empty again
Tumblr media
“It was an accident. Tragic.” Ladybug stuttered and Lemon laughed at that. “Bizarre, even.”
“Cool story, bro, but uhm, I think that you and your partner here had your own plans of getting out of here with that case.” He pointed to you, who was sitting on the other side.
“No, no, no.”
“Pinning a body on us. Hoping the white death is so busy cuttin’ off our arms instead of cuttin’ off our fingers. It’s like Thomas the Tank Engine always says: “Simple is better.””
“The kids show?” You and ladybug asked at the same time.
“Yes, the fucking ki- man- I learned everything about people from Thomas. Everything.”
“I took 3 years in psychology, but Thomas sounds more fun.” You muttered.
“Really?” Ladybug asked Lemon, interested.
“It’s how I can read people like you so well. And you are a diesel.”
“Not really. This guy is like.. the equivalent of a golden retriever. A golden retriever that just happens to have really bad luck and so he gets sick and put down.” You explained.
“That’s dark. And I am not a diesel.”
“You’re the diesel-est diesel…”
“Not even close.”
“I’ve ever seen in my life, man. Cause diesels bluff. They go too far.”
“I’m trying to get diesels out of my life, you know?”
“If there was a gun under this table, yeah, I’d be as dead as that kid over there.” He pointed to the one next to you.
“Wait what? He’s dead?” You lifted his glasses and immediately put them back on.
“Yup. Yup. Definitely dead and not sleeping.” You said, moving to the other side.
Lemon used that as a distraction, and he grabbed Ladybugs arm, which caused his head to hit the table. Ladybug closed his laptop onto his head. He punched Lemon twice but lemon kicked him. Then, as Ladybug was on the ground he kicked him in his crotch.
The lady shushed them again, before turning around again. Lemon threw a laptop at ladybug.
You sighed and got up, and got your own gun from your purse.
“Seriously? I told you not to bring a gun.” Ladybug shook his head.
You held it to Lemon’s face.
“Thanks, although you could’ve helped earlier you know?” Ladybug said.
“Whatever, now can me and my partner please leave?”
“No can do, sorry Deer.” He said, kicking you and knocking you down, you groaned and held your leg. And Ladybug grabbed the laptop and smacked him in the head with it.
“Thanks.” You said to him.
“Who’s helping who now?” He smirked and opened up the laptop, you sat on the other side where there wasn’t any dead or passed out people.
“Shh! I’ll call the conductor!” The lady whispered again.
“Eat a bag of dicks, lady!” The woman gasped at his foul words “I’m sorry I’m sorry. I’m working on it.”
The lady turned back around while you snickered.
“Here.” You tossed him a bottle of some white stuff.
“The fuck is that?” You asked.
“Cocaine.” He retorted sarcastically.
“Funny.”
He put it in the water. And looked at the dead guy next to him.
“Told you he was definitely dead.”
He grabbed the gun on the floor, it was Lemons.
“I’m not a diesel, you’re a diesel.”
He hid the empty gun behind some suitcases.
“You should do the same. I told you that guns weren’t necessary.”
“Nope.”
You opened his phone and saw that tangerine was near so he put his hat and glasses back on.
“Ow!” He said, as he put his hat on and noticed his head bleeding.
“Follow me.” You said, as you headed to the bathroom.
You guys went into the bathroom. “Sit down.” You told him, digging around in your bag.
“You sit down.” He muttered, while also sitting down.
You got on your knees and took off his hat again, as you focused and started to clean around the wounds. You also cleaned the blood.
“Anything else that might be a problem?” You said, putting a bandage on his nose.
“No. Thank you.” He said, getting up and calling Maria as you guys walked around the train again.
“There’s another body here.”
“Of course there is.” She said.
“Not my fault, and I believe it’s the son of the white death.”
“Did the twins ID you guys?”
“Did you hear what I said? White death. Death. Death.” He repeated.
“Snatch and grab, my ass.”
“I don’t know, kinda like this mission. It reminds me of my old ones before I got stuck with snatch and grab ones.” You said.
“Of course you do.” He rolled his eyes. “Theres someone else doing a job on this train.”
“The twins. We know that.”
“Again, not twins.” Ladybug said.
“I feel like it’s more than them.” You said, trusting your gut.
“What? Put her on.” She said to Ladybug and handed you the phone.
“What do you mean, Deer?”
“I mean I think there’s more than just the twins doing a job here. Some of these people are kind of suspicious. And the wolf just happens to end up here? I don’t buy it.”
“Just get the case and get off, I don’t need two of my best people dying.” She sighed and you handed the phone back to ladybug.
“They’re here for the kid, but somebody killed the kid.” He said, putting a golf club through the door.”the guy with the knife.”
“The wolf.”
“He said he came here for revenge. He just happened to run into me, because of course he did. The kid was poisoned in the same way as El Sbarro was at the wedding.”
“It’s El Saguaro. The same killer?”
“Yeah.” He said, as you and him stacked suitcases.
“I’m like MacGyver.” He said, and peeked into a cage. All of a sudden a snake flew out.
“Oh hell nah!” You screamed and backed up, you went behind Ladybug.
“I know that snake. Is that- ITS A GODDAMN BOOMSLANG SNAKE!” You shrieked.
“I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS.”
“It’s a poisonous snake, very poisonous.” Is all you said.
“How do you know this stuff?” He asked as you guys made your escape.
“I also studied Zoology when I was 13. Stopped after 5 years.” You explained and practically ran away from the snake.
✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩
“Shit.” Tangerine said as he saw his brother on the table. He groaned as he woke up.
“Oh thank God. For a minute there… Jesus Christ, you had a bit of a Bosh, pal.”
He slapped him and lemon just groaned.
“Alright, five stations to Kyoto. Better get tickety-boo.” He said, leaving Lemon and going to find the two.
“Would you describe me as someone who lives in perpetual anxiety?”
“I would.” You said.
“No, no.”
“Ah fucknuts.” He said, as he saw the conductor. You were underneath the tables and he sat on the chair.
“And if it wasn’t clear, I meant yes.”
“The conductor, I don’t have a ticket.”
“Not sure that’s your biggest concern.”
“What the fuck are you doing?” He asked as he saw you on the floor.
“Trying to be smart in my hiding.” You hit his leg.
“Ow. And you don’t understand, this guys like Criss- fucking- Angel. He pops up everywhere. He slows me down, tangerine catches me, I am dead. Dead. Dead.”
“I wouldn’t mind being killed by him.” You muttered as you sat on the seat next to him. He groaned.
“Yeah I k.. hold on.” He said and went over to the guy next to them.
“Hey bro. Wanna make an easy 200 bucks?”
“Is this like a… like a sex thing?” He looked at ladybug and then at you.
Ladybug just stared in confusion.
“Nope..”
“Oh, okay, I was kidding. Uh, yeah, what’s up? What do you need, bro?” The man said.
✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩ ✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩
Tangerine struggled to get the door open, and so he stole a stuffed animal, put his gun in it and shot. Which only opened the door a little bit.
Tangerine saw the hat and had thought it was Ladybug, he looked for the girl but hadn’t seen her.
“All right, games up, big boy. Where is the case?” Tangerine said to him, but it wasn’t the same man.
“Tell me and I promise I’ll only shoot you enough-“
“Whoa, whoa, um, is this the sex stuff?”
Then, firecrackers started exploding and a man yelled. Tangerine went over there.
“I do love an accent.” The man said.

pac: killer femme fatale ♀
your deadly traits
77777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777 *+°
one
you operate at your best when you are surrounded by opulence. financial security matters quite a bit to you… you see financial security as the one true form of security in this life. in fact i actually see you as someone who will fight off any feelings you may have for someone, unless they can prove to bring a sense of security to your life. some may see you as a gold digger, but that’s not quite the energy i’m getting. it’s just that we all have non-negotiables in life and i see that for you, someone with no sense of financial stability is not something on which you are willing to compromise. you know your worth, you know what you bring to the table, and you evaluate what others can bring to you to in order to enhance your life. you are very dedicated to your cause, and you are patiently awaiting your counterpart to enter your life. i’m getting a visual of someone fully dressed in hair and makeup, uncomfortable tight clothes, jewelry, fragrance… everything, just sitting poised in bed waiting for a quality person to walk through the door. you have no problem turning people away and letting them know specifically why they are not for you… savage. you don’t mince words. i do see you as someone bored and unsatisfied with your options. boredom is not good for you… i see you as someone who could entertain options that you know don’t fit your standards just to tickle yourself, but the other person is kept in the dark abt simply being your temporary form of entertainment. i think Carmilla aka the Bloody Countess from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is the perfect embodiment of this energy. she’s not just a vicious killer, she enjoys toying with her victims, promising them exactly what it is they’ve been searching their entire lives for… she uses their own desires to lead them directly to the most horrific of deaths. she relishes in the demise of humans & she feels it is within her destiny to treat humans as livestock because she is a vampiress, a superior being. she will do anything for her cause: to exercise power and authority over those she deems less worthy. she embodies the shadow traits of the energy i am picking up in this pile (of course in the most extreme way). however, Carmilla at her core, is a hurt woman. she feels like she dedicated everything to the success of vampire kind, only to be ruthlessly betrayed by the king of vampires himself. this betrayal plays a huge role in the portrayal of Carmilla’s bloodlust in this film. she undermines her own beliefs by betraying a vampire in this film, bc she was once betrayed by a vampire… she feels she is owed everything she wants bc of what was sacrificed. it’s this sense of entitlement that i would say is the most deadly thing abt the energy in this pile… be aware of this entitlement and don’t let it dictate the way you treat others.
Tumblr media
two
you can’t let anything go. there is a petty, child-like energy here… eye for an eye. you take pleasure in coming out on top, always. i don’t think you can ever be wrong. moreover, i don’t think that you are ever satisfied. there’s a gluttonous energy here… like a kid in a candy store. you aren’t just satisfied with having candy, you have to take it from someone else, watch them cry and then eat it in front of them lol. emotionally, you are extremely volatile. when you are going through it, everyone around you is going through it bc you put them through hell. other people just don’t know how to deal with you. however, unlike the first pile there is a sense of self-awareness here. it’s like you have these breakthrough moments where you want to be better or you fantasize abt the idea of being more “normal” or balanced. it reminds me of that scene in Kill Bill where Gogo is talking to that boy in a seemingly normal, flirty, teenage interaction, but then she stabs him with her tanto, spilling his blood everywhere lol. that’s the thing, you love being chaotic, and it’s not a secret. some of you don’t know the definition of patience, and it shows. there is a certain amount of pleasure you derive from being a wild card. you embrace this as living your truth and you don’t want to change. your emotions will get the best of you every time, if you let them.
Tumblr media
three
you have a strong amount of passion, it’s almost overwhelming. not many people can match your level of intensity, which is why you tend to be a loner. you fiercely chase after what you want, however your goals are always changing. your endgame doesn’t seem to be quite as defined as some may assume, you just try to make the best choices at that time, optimizing whatever situation you’re in. a lack of clear ambition can make room for deceit or manipulation. you would make a great second-in-command bc you are a go-getter, and other people would jump at the opportunity to use you to do their bidding. there’s an awakening happening for this group. you have yet to realize your full potential, especially when it comes to career. there are energies around you that look at you and see a wonderful opportunity, be careful whom you align yourself with, in any capacity, but i am getting a specific message abt romance/marriage. you awaken a certain amount of sexual and/or creative energy in others, i’m getting that you could possibly end up becoming someone’s muse. this pile’s energy is very concise, like a story that is still unwritten. this pile could be full of late bloomers. your time will come.

(tw suicide mention) Lost her mother in an accident. Then her father committed suicide, leaving Constance an orphan by 13.
Used the little inheritance she had to go to Garreg Mach and pretend everything was ok. Would lie anytime someone asked about her home life. Was forced to drop out at 16 because she ran out of money. To embarrassed to ask for help, she lied to everyone and told them she was going to study in the states
Yuri found her sleeping on a bench and took her in. Offered to buy her a ticket home until she finally admitted she lost everything and has no home to go back to
Dumpster drives at Garreg Mach for designer clothes. Ridiculous how much these rich kids (Hilda) toss out
Hapi
Romani :)
Ran away from home when she was a teenager to “see the world.” Unfortunately, got taken in by some questionable people
Cordelia found her and just felt so bad for her :( “oh no, a poor brown girl in need of help.” Offered to take her in and promised to help her get back home
Bullshit.
Finally able to run away and flee the country. She meets Balthus and Yuri because they were dumpster diving at the same spot.
She and Constance have this thing of getting naked and howling at the full moon each month
Emile Jeritza
Born into a religious cult in good old USA 🇺🇸 His father was the cult leader and had multiple wives.
His mother had a child from a previous relationship. Despite having numerous half-siblings, Emile was only close to Mercedes. She was the only one who didn’t scold him for crying and having “feminine” feelings after all
One day, his mother and beloved sister disappear. He never even got to say goodbye..
unbeknownst to him, when his mother and sister left they were fleeing for their lives. His mother immediately started to fight for custody of him but she was not an American citizen (while Emile and dad were) and she was trying to take him back to Europe
When Emile found out about what his father did, he…
On the run from the FBI :)
The wolves know about his history but fuck his dad, mofo had it coming.
Yuri was standing behind Jeritza at the store when he saw Jeritza didn’t have enough money for food and cat food. He told the cash register to put the sandwich back. Yuri bought him the sandwich.

Serendipity (CH 8)
Leroy Jethro Gibbs X Fem OC/Reader
Word Count: 1198
Warning: Mild language, fluff, smut, angst, graphic scenes, death, murder, gore, violence, mature material…
Prompt: You have a major crush on Gibbs, however you choose to push it away as you fear he doesn’t feel the same way. Suddenly there is a bunch of chances that lead to a happy ending…
Tumblr media
I had went out and gotten everyone breakfast and drinks. I got all my paperwork caught up and even caught up everyone else's with my all-nighter.
However, I was on a coffee high now and was organizing all my stuff in my area. I hum as I tidy up when I hear the elevator doors open.
"Y/N? Your here early." Tony notes.
I look up to see that they all must've gotten off the elevator. I smile brightly at them.
"Good morning!" I exclaim.
"You seem to be in a good mood." Tim notes with a smile as Gibbs and Ziva study me.
"Thanks Tim." I say.
"And you got me breakfast? Thank you...I owe you." Tony says and I wink at him before turning back to where I was organizing behind my desk.
"Agent Y/L/N!" Director Shepard says.
I look up to see her standing at the railing. She motions me to follow her and I look at me desk. Am I losing my job? Oh god...
"Hey, I'm sure it's nothing." Tim says.
"Your going to jinx me and I'm going to lose my job. Thanks Tim." I mumble, beginning my way to her office.
I sit and she looks at my expectantly. I bounce my knee nervously and she sighs.
"The BAU is asking for you back." She says.
"No. I don't want to go back. I'm happy here. I really am. I know that there's been a lot going on since my accident and I swear things won't be so hectic and I promise I'll be a better agent. Please tell me I'm not losing my job." I ramble.
"Calm down, Special Agent Y/L/N. I was simply telling you. I was going to let you make the choice. You have a spot here. A team...a family and I'm more than happy to go tell the BAU that you aren't going anyway and that your sticking with us at NCIS." She says.
"Oh thank god." I breathe.
"How are you doing?" She asks.
"I'm doing a lot better." I say.
"Good. If you every need anything, you know where I am. Now go on." She says.
I happily hurry out of her office and get to my desk, drinking the rest of the coffee before tossing it in my can. I look up when Gibbs clears his throat.
"Janitor clears our cans every night. I noticed you have five coffee cups in yours. I thought I told you to go home." He snaps.
"Well I was, but there was no way I was going to get sleep. My mind has been super occupied and sketching hasn't helped. I knew I had a lot to get done, so rather than going home to have a restless night, I decided to work here. Which worked out in my favor. And you shouldn't complain. Now we are caught up." I say.
"No more coffee today. You ramble when your on a caffeine rush. Your hands are literally shaking from your caffeine intake. And your going home tonight. And what did the Director want?" He asks.
"I was really nervous I was going to lose my job. And I really thought I was because she said the BAU wanted me back and I kind of freaked out and went into this whole thing that I didn't want to go back and I promised to be a better agent because I know I haven't been at my top performance since my accident and even a little before. Actually, a while before. I should go tell her that. I don't know. I've been in a weird kind of funk—." I ramble before he covers my mouth.
"Tell me she isn't sending you back." He says, before uncovering my mouth.
"She isn't sending me back. I swear. She said she's happy to have me here. Oh my goodness! Abby! Good morning!" I exclaim, hugging her.
"Y/N..." Abby mumbles and I step back confused.
"What? Did I do something?" I ask.
"Have you seen your car this morning?" She asks.
"Ugh...no. Should I? Actually don't answer that. I'll choose to ignore the problem at hand. I'm in a good mood and I can tell by your face you don't come bearing good news. I can't bear bad news today. I might have a breakdown." I ramble and she looks at Gibbs concerned.
"She's drank five cups of coffee. What's up Abs?" He asks.
"Her window was broken. I got pictures and started to study the car and found a note. A note from the man who attempted to kill her. How long has he been threatening you?" She asks, holding up the letter in the evidence bag.
"I-I was handling it. I swear. I started to stay here when I felt like my safety was compromised. However, when I stopped getting the silent calls and letters, I assumed he stopped so I let it go. It's fine. I'm sure it's nothing." I ramble, although that definitely put a damper in my mood.
"Your telling me this has been going on and you never once mentioned it?" Gibbs asks, stepping closer.
"Your a profiler. I'm sure you can tell what this means." Abby says.
"Come on Y/N/N...you should have came to us." Ziva says softly.
I close my eyes, clenching my jaw as I take a deep breath. Deep breaths. Deep breaths...I tried to ignore Gibbs who was now lecturing me, getting closer to yelling. I step away, reaching a shaky hand out to my chair and pushing it out of the way before I sit on the ground, scooting under my desk.
My eyes were stinging and I let a shaky breath out. Not now...I can't cry now. Another shaky breath leaves me, my chest beginning to move faster. Gibbs was soon in front of me, kneeling in front of my desk.
"Y/N...Y/N/N, breathe. Breathe..." He murmurs, moving under the desk and pulling me into his side.
My shaky hands grasp his shirt, trying to take deep breaths but I can't stop thinking about everything going on. He moves my head and I soon could only hear his heart beat. He stroked my hair, gently rubbing my back.
"That's it. Breathe." He murmurs as my breathing slows.
I didn't want to move once I calmed down. I just held onto him, staring blankly ahead as I tried not to think about it. Everytime I would, my eyes would start to tear up and I'd take in a big shaky breath.
He held me, not saying anything. He just comforted me. We slowly scoot out overtime until we were out from under my desk. He waited patiently for me to be ready to come out completely from under my desk to standing. It took me a few minutes to want to stand, but when I nodded, he stood up to help me up.
His hand rests on my lower back as he guided me to the elevator in silence. I ignored my team giving my concerned looks even when they tried to look busy.

"ow, that hurts y/n! you've never done this before have you?!" the whining male cried out as you shushed him with a harsh tug of the tuff of his dark hair, his yells echoing off the bathroom walls.
you shot him a death glare through the mirror of your bathroom, standing behind riki's sitting figure with foil and bleach encased around his head like someone's grandma with a head of rollers, "no, but i know what i'm doin'! i saw this on a commercial, it's a piece of cake," you reassured, even snorting quietly in your throat at the stupidity in your words. riki wasn't sure whether to be even more terrified than before at such unhelpful guidance.
"if i come home bald, you're gonna tell my folks exactly what you'd done," he huffed as you painted a thick coat of hair dye on a handful of his strands. you tutted at his childish nagging and focused on the task at hand.
"the ladies are gonna be all over you," you sang while lifting a foil-covered bunch of his hair and waving it in the air for him to see in the mirror. his dark eyes shot open at the new colour enveloping his virgin hair, "look at that."
"shit, how many times do i gotta do this?" he asked when a concentrated yellow appeared from his roots to the ends of his hair.
you hummed at his inquisitive question and with a cheery smile you replied, "only around four times." his head was thrown back while he wailed out with a mocking cry, like a child on his first day of school. you nudged his head back forward with the bleach applicator in your hand so the foil wouldn't fall out of place.
"i better win this upcoming race," he sulked while sitting up properly as you enforced harshly. you giggled and immediately started teasing him if he didn't win, he'd be on a permanent ban from racing ever again. except, when the day arrived. you didn't know what kinda racer yang jeongin really was.
"shit," you cursed out aloud, having to almost yell it to be heard over the jostling barracks, feeling guilty, "we missed riki's takeoff," your eyes searched for sunghoon's and he ducked his head low am tousled some of his light silver hair in a fluster. you originally wanted to be cheering your heart out for riki's first race back in action but you were so lost in your conversation with chan and felix that you forgot all about it.
"right, yeah," sunghoon plainly responded, eyes scanning the scene of the flag girl skipping off to her side of the track, "he's made in the shade. let 'em be," he nonchalantly finished while the crowd's volume gradually decreased and currently in a waiting period.
definition:'made in the shade'. > success guaranteed.
"yeah, she'll be right," felix grinned, most likely referring to his mate, jeongin. you were curious about brace boy, particularly that last conversation he looked like he held with riki where riki held his pinky up and did a promise in the air. your attention was placed back onto felix who has turned away with a hand tucked into his pocket.
definition:’she’ll be right’. > he/she/they will do fine.
"you're a star racer?" you questioned the freckled-faced male diagonal from you and he shone a proud smile at your acknowledgement.
"that's right. why is everyone always surprised when i tell them this?" felix asked while turning his head to his familiar, chan. his voice uncertain and high-pitched at the backhanded reaction from you.
"you're just so friendly, the other stars i've met are too busy touching their gearsticks to come up to another star and chat," you explained and his nose scrunched at your misleading metaphor of gearsticks. sunghoon snickered beside you quietly, silently agreeing in his mind. you weren't entirely off the mark saying that, hell, soobin never cared for his opponent at the beginning or end of the event. too busy stroking his machine on wheels to unsuspecting girls from his side.
"aw, that's real peachy of you. where's this star of yours?" he wondered while pressing a flat hand above his brow bone and squinting his eyes, deliberately looking over sunghoon during his theatrical act. of course, only chan found this bit funny. sunghoon on the other hand was driving forward to brush his hand on felix's shoulder to spin him back around to where hyunjin stood.
"cut the gas. i need another weed," sunghoon demanded the childish counterpart of his, hiding his internalised annoyance for being overlooked. felix let out a toothy laugh and called out for the red-haired male several metres from where we stood.
definition:'weed'. > a cigarette.
hwang's fierce eyes faltered at the outlandish male calling his name in a deliberate baby voice and reluctantly came to his heed. leaving the makeshift spotlight of the lamp post behind him, his charming features were illuminated in the natural moonlight, half of his face hidden in the shadows. and as he approached even closer, he was surprisingly almost as tall as sunghoon.
"what is it?" he grizzled out, annoyance evident in the way he spoke at felix's antics. the male in question patted his disgruntled friend on the back and gestured towards sunghoon with his free arm like a tour guide.
"a cig for the gentleman here," the playful boy announced and hyunjin's dark pupils shrunk upon landing on sunghoon.
"park, where's your little groupie?" the newcomer asked, their voice tainted with boredom like he didn't care about the answer regardless. you were curious about their history together so you kept a keen eye on their interactions. hyunjin's slim hand hid in his jacket's pocket and when he retracted it, a cigarette was flown at sunghoon in an instant. your friend paused and reeled forward to catch the stick, startled. "need me to light it for you too, eyebrows?"
sunghoon's brows dipped at the name-calling from his opposite, ignoring such disruptive teasing and lighting his cigarette smoothly. he sighed peacefully, blowing smoke that lapsed the red-haired male in spite. the misty effect around the said boy with the mole beneath his left eye made you want to jump out of your sneakers and hope to catch a ride with him home. he had no reason to look so effortlessly gorgeous. eyes starting to water from the lack of blinking, a carefully placed hand spun you around towards the upper slope of the concrete walls.
"hitting the road so soon? tell lee i said hello," hyunjin's voice poured and you felt sunghoon's nails almost dig into your fabric-covered arm in frustration. he couldn't answer why the other men weren't with him, it'd only open more holes for the opposition to pry. so for your safety and his, the only thing he could do was turn his back and exit without a word.
"want a drink?" he questioned to break the defeating silence on the way up the slope. it felt like it was the two of you against the world, a familiar feeling with you and sunghoon being placed in difficult positions to crawl out of. it was so lonely, jungwon and sunoo didn't come with you and jake was somewhere in the crowd preparing for his upcoming race.
if you weren't sure which of the two boys from earlier would be against jake, you'd be safe to assume ruby locks. chan the creep was a close competitor but something about his appearance didn't scream racer. the reason you weren't familiar with this handful of boys was that they were not in town often. why? because they were from a nearby suburb and only came to your drag strip because it was better than whatever set-up they had. this only lead you to ponder what kind of people they were.
"yeah, please," you agreed to sunghoons suggestion and he changed directions of your footing to a nearby huddle of people around a foldable table, impatient hands of money held out to whoever was running the alcohol-selling get-up.
the rumble of an engine, the screech of tires, the painful sting of car oil and your sweet face amongst the strands of hair flying behind you. that's all heeseung could recall in his last moments of racing before everything turned cold.
when he saw you and sunghoon running away from him, getting chased by soobin, beomgyu, taehyun and kai, he knew he was at a loss. he fidgetted with his door lock, hands soiled in grease resulting in his fingers being slippery with the hard surface. then, with a dip in his legs, he limped out of his messy car and turned right back around to look at the state it was in. just his luck, the white shine of his vehicle was ruined by a clear brown slick splattered inside and outside it.
"fuck. fuck, what am i gonna do," he cursed while his wet fingers came in contact with the back of his hair, jostling his strands in frustration. he had two options, go to you and the mobs surrounding yeonjun or hit the road. he couldn't go home like this, and neither could he relish in humiliation from everyone. so, weighing his options, he began his journey up the closest slope with heavy footsteps.
he loathed the way his favourite jacket was now dirtied with car oil and his footsteps left marks on the dry pavement behind him. he just prayed to god that they would dry up by the time anyone else came to find him.
this side of town for heeseung was unexplored. the neighbouring school's turf, that's all he took in as his head turned while walking past the tall, brick building. the school for the higher-ups. the school where students probably didn't spend their after-school time in gas-ridden garages as he did. he had made quite the change in progress from the race track he crawled out of and now found himself deeper in the bramble bushes on the opposite side of town.
he smelled awful, like a gas station set on fire. he still wore his damp jacket, knowing it was a smarter idea to throw it off but the evening breeze was way too cold to discard it so easily. and, part of the boy believed there'd be a chance to save it when he got himself out of the mess.
a deafening beep of someone's car brought the boy out of his clashing thoughts when he found himself crossing a road, green appearing on every street light around him. his eyebrows furrowed and he clenched his teeth in annoyance, throwing up a middle finger to the driver as he picked his pace up while meeting the other side of the pavement.
he wasn't the type to dawdle stupidly. he was irritated at his thoughts tuning him out of the real-world enough to make him senselessly cross a road.  also half irritated at the scare and the loud beep made his heavy shoulders flinch. he was wondered what was going on in the drag strip right now. the other school was having their bash and you were probably with the other boys heading home or to sunoo's diner for burgers and shakes.
just his luck, the neon wiring on a shop's board spelled '24hrs' stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the dark windows of already closed establishments. he'd found a 24-hour dry cleaner and maybe he didn't hate the previous rage road for rushing him to it. the entrance bells rang as he stepped in, his hand leaving a thin coat of car oil on the door handle.
the cleaning service smelled of lavender-scented washing detergent and the warm smell of an iron pressed to clothes, a nice change from his burnt tire-smelling 'cologne'. behind a run-down service desk was an employee, looking up from her newspaper, glasses tilting up her nose bridge. her face was partly distorted behind the tip jar that only had two coins in it. the stranger's mouth was parted, most likely surprised a customer even came in at this time of night or maybe at the appearance of heeseung who looked like he'd crawled right out of some swamp.
heeseung was just as surprised to see a girl his age working, assuming it was a family-owned business and she was most likely forced to stay late nights as punishment for bad test results. but, he knew he would be able to use this to his advantage.
"pick up for, er, nathan," he fibbed while fiddling with the cuffs of his jacket, praying to whatever god above that there was a customer named nathan. the girl's eyebrows raised, realising she actually had to do her job. so with the fold of her newspaper, she jumped down from her seat and tiptoed towards the long hanger racks with a collection of clothing hanging.
heeseung tailed behind her, proceeding to the opposite side of the two stripes of clothing racks and clicking the hangers together as he frantically sought clothes that could do the trick. long floral nightgowns, tuxedos, and even a wedding dress yet, no clothing fit for a teenager. "i'm sorry, no clothes under the name nathan," the employee fret while turning around to look at heeseung's opposite spot to hers.
he clicked his tongue in annoyance, not replying but only heightening his pace in scrolling through articles of fabric till his hands paused at someone's long pair of coveralls, clean and freshly ironed. he unhooked it and held it to the girl observing and smiled, "found it," he responded and the girl pushed her glasses up her nose bridge at the awkward feeling of being bested by a customer.
"really? oh, there we go then," she replied without a console and padded back towards her counter, leaning her elbows on the surface while picking her newspaper up. heeseung was silently celebrating in his mind at his successful act, treading towards the girl whose stationed right at the exit.
he calmly slid off his oily jacket and threw it on the edge of the counter she didn't lean on, a few rolling coins with it, "thanks, buttercup. i'll pick this one up next," the boy spoke with a wink at the broad. then, he pressed forward and left the building, stolen coveralls folded over one of his arms. as he disappeared from the store's large windows, he couldn't help a long arm of his being pulled back to his side in a celebratory dance, hoping on his light feet to an imaginary beat in his head as he skipped past dimly lit buildings.
you and sunghoon were regretful forgetting to watch riki's departure. because when he rolled in a fraction of a minute after jeongin, that's when hell broke loose.
you leapt up from your sitting position and pulled sunghoon with you to the middle of the track where riki had just parked. before getting a word in, the protruding male shoved through the circle of students encasing jeongin and raised a fist to the unsuspecting boy's face. about to strike, he was roughly pushed to the floor and met with the untamed clashes of three pairs of shoes.
"watch it, greaser!" chan yelled before laughing and settling his foot right on top of riki's reddening ear, earning a hiss of pain from the younger. your eyes widened in worry while you mirrored riki's shoving tactic to maneuver the crowd out of the way for you and sunghoon. you'd never expect such a rocky entrance from your friend.
"beat it!" you yelled while trying to shoo off hyunjin, felix and chan who had been kicking and stomping on riki's fetal position. sunghoon aided you by rutting his shoulder into the trio of men to make space for you. you placed your drink on the floor while ducking down to help riki up. he was roughed out, swipes of dirt in the pattern of shoe prints all over his clothes and face.
"what's the big idea?" sunghoon grumbled while glaring at the prosecutors, chan swiped his nose, sniffing inwards while his eyes searched the crowds like he was expecting someone. the look in the other two boys echoed the same reaction and sunghoon was taken aback by their behaviour. they were waiting for everyone else, jay, jungwon, sunoo and heeseung to interfere but no one came. sunghoon could tell, another light of pride flickering off in his mind. they weren't here.
only jake was running down the concrete slopes while his dark leather jacket flew behind him with every airy step he took.
"what's our prob? like you didn't just see your yoot strike ours first," hyunjin replied while his shoulders seemed to relax at the lack of our crew members. your head turned to riki as he grappled onto your hand and slowly unfurled himself, wincing during the gradual motion.
definition:'yoot'. > a younger sibling.
he wasn't looking at hyunjin, nor sunghoon at that. he was only staring at one boy. the boy with a sadistic grin spread across one cheek to the other, braces shown and all, "what happened, riki?" you questioned lowly in case you'd tripped on a wire that lead to the alarms going off in his head. his eyebrows furrowed while he wiped the back of his palm against his nostrils, a crimson fluid left behind on his pale skin.
"take a look at it yourself, this brute just dented jay's ride," he explained while your head flicked back to the boy's car he had borrowed from jay to use. jake positioned himself next to riki and viewed the area like a radar, a serious scowl on his face from his usual sweet smile.
"no rules in drag racin'," jeongin spoke up, and it was the first time you'd ever heard him. he sounded youthful and the cruel smile still on his face only added to it.
"you wanna pay for your damages? go ahead," riki rasped, a clothed arm against his nostrils to try and soak up his bleeding nose. the boy opposite to him only raised an eyebrow, looking over to his older peers like riki had just told a bad joke.
"i'm not the one losing the race, why would i?" jeongin rhetorically questioned while his smile finally dropped and only then did he finally give you the creeps. riki seethed through his teeth and stepped forward with hunched shoulders before he was stopped by sunghoon's hand.
"relax, he's just tryna bug you. ts'only the first race. jake and i got this," sunghoon reassured and rubbed his hand on riki's shoulder. the younger affirmed with a nod of his head and took a few steps backwards, almost bumping into you if you didn't move away at the right time.
"come on riki, let's get you fixed up," you persuaded the other and tugged on the cuff around his free hand. he reluctantly turned around, his eyes being the last of his body to disappear from the four boys.
"his mom came to pick him up, ain't that nice," you heard jeongin mock, only earning a small snicker from the crowd here and there. but you didn't care. cheaters would never have real skill and that's that.
you lead riki back towards the slanted pavement, in hopes of finding some tissues or an ice pack around somewhere. as you left lightly, you heard jake's voice question sunghoon about what happened and the crowd slowly disburse in preparation for the next race.
with a cold glass of beer against riki's sore face, his eyes never lifted off the concrete you two sat on. you clutched onto your long skirt and bit your bottom lip while mindlessly tracing your eyes on the tire tracks left in the dirt as jake and hyunjin already started their race.
"so... what really happened?" you asked the boy gently and he groaned at the forming bruise on his cheek that hurt every time he tried to speak.
"that son of a bitch' decided to play dirty when i was ahead of him for half the race," his voice was nasally due to the two twisted tissues stuffed up his nostrils and you could laugh at his state if it wasn't such a serious situation.
"he just rammed into you?" you questioned in uncertainty a boy so sweet looking like jeongin could be so fierce on the racetrack. but riki wanted to prove you wrong.
"yes. before the race, he told me no hard feelings for whoever won. so much for that act," he spat in betrayal, his gold locks draped around the sides of his face like a curtain. you assumed that's why riki held his pinky up before his race, motioning a promise to that flawed oath. you lightly chewed on the insides of your mouth, thinking his outrage seemed justified.
"what a joke," you commented while tucking a piece of your hair behind your ear and looked off towards the distance to not pile on the shame the boy was already drowning in.
"ts'tough. i wanted to win so badly. now everyone still thinks i'm a joke," he vented while continuing the shield on his expression. you immediately consoled the doubtful boy, a gentle hand stroking his back soothingly.
"that's not true. shit, i doubt anybody could handle the stress of being crashed into during a race," you pleaded while trying to cheer the boy up. he lifted his face slowly and his bangs fell to their correct placement, eyes lightened at your encouraging resolve.
"think so?" he asked in a low voice and you nodded with a small grin at his change in attitude.
"keeno," you responded and he sighed in relief while closing his eyes and rocking his head back.
definition:'keeno'. > keen, sure.
"this little kindness thing you do, is this what you learn in bible study, y/n?" his tone suddenly changed as he teased you with his usual banter. your eyebrows furrowed before you abruptly tore a tissue down from his nostrils and he cried loudly at the sting and the gush of blood that came out with it.
jake won his race. you were glad to see the smug grin wiped off of hyunjin's face upon his arrival. this glimmer of hope made your shoulders lift at the chance your crew could still win the night. it was you, jake and riki sitting together along the pavement waiting for the winner. riki's previous beer was now being used for its actual purpose and he gulped it down without a care in the world once his bruise stopped hurting and his nose quit bleeding.
jake was talking about how some pack of girls kept crowding around him like flies when he first arrived, hence his disappearance when you and felix first met. you thought it was a little funny why jake was always trying to run away from his group of fans every time he raced and riki made some comment about how jake probably swung the other way which he immediately denied.
the topic changed, rotating between what holiday jay was forced upon by his father, whether riki's voice had dropped yet and if heeseung was going to come back or not. where would he be? what could have taken him two weeks of his life from racing? not only was the absence at his desk at school starting to grow a pit in your stomach but also the doubt whether he was coming back or not.
you and the seven boys were childhood friends, in preschool, middle school all the way to high school the seven of you were inseparable. heeseung wasn't the kind of person to throw away years like that just for some hurt pride. so he had to come back.
the loud echo of an oncoming vehicle's radio sounded from atop the slope opposite your side. it was a roofless, bright blue automobile but the pack of men inside it is what surprised you the most. the two boys in the backseat were standing up and cooing like wild animals, fists in the air that held bottles of liquor. the people sitting on the concrete slope had to jump and run out of the road for the vehicle barging through them to avoid being squashed flat.
the men standing up only held onto the top of the front seat headers to retain their balance as the car veered forward down the slope dangerously to the point it could almost tip over. the air out of your lungs was socked out at such a stunt as the rolling vehicle came to a halt once it met the flat ground. the bass of the radio reflected off the pavement and you could hear your ears thumping to the same rhythm of the music before it clicked off and the four men jumped out.
"yeah, the boys!" chan's loud voice yelled while he ran from his previous viewing position to greet the other individuals with bear hugs and handshakes. your head steered towards the two boys beside you, curious about their reactions as well. jake's lips were parted and with clenched teeth, he fidgeted in his position steadily. riki's eyebrows were raised far enough for his forehead to crease in interest to what the appearance of these newcomers entailed to the event.
your eyes squinted while watching the figures below where the three of you say upon and their interactions. they behaved like sleazy, booze-infested apes who only knew how to communicate by yelling and wooing at everything. "who are they?" you questioned, not directed to either of your friends but jake took the initiative.
"that's the rest of their gang," he cooly replied and his lips licked out of habit and discomfort. if sunghoon didn't win, he would be the bud of jokes between the just-arriving men.
"shit, there's a mob of them," you cursed while counting up the numbers of your crew. four to eight did not look appealing to you at all.
"they're bad news," jake quietly continued while his eyes traced the furthest he could of the race track for any sign of sunghoon or felix. and you believed him. the appearance of such a feral group muddled with the only familiar handful of men you knew from them completed a perfect puzzle in your head. they were much worse than yeonjun and his group. way worse.
heeseung didn't have anywhere to stay the night. but when the company of his worn coveralls found him tiptoeing in the night, they invited him in. the owner of the repairman company, an old, balding man asked heeseung where he found the uniform which the boy answered shamelessly. unexpectedly, the old man laughed at such brutal honesty and offered heeseung a job.
so for the upcoming days, heeseung spent every day and night on the job, using the telephone outlet to call home and promise his temperamental mother that he'd be home soon and was just out with the boys. the owner of the establishment loved heeseung and his surprising work on vehicles.
"you seem to know a lotta 'bout cars, son. your old man a mechanic too?" his low antique voice asked while heeseung lay on a creeper on the undercarriage of a car, toying with something. a bead of sweat rolled down his dirt-staining temple while he licked his lips to answer.
"nah. just a knack i picked up," he lightly responded in such a bent-over position, his voice was coarse and throaty.
"impressive. skilled with your hands, aren't ya," the old man chuckled at his gag and heeseung just softly chortled at the dirty joke.
"no sweat," heeseung replied while focusing back on his work. that was the domestic dynamic he held with the owner who so generously offered food, shelter and a job to him. but all things come to an end and heeseung had a group to return to and a race to win.
and that's where heeseung found himself, sprinting out of the joint with nothing but a cigarette in his mouth and handfuls of scrunched cash stuffed into his pockets and crowded against his stomach as he ran away with the infuriated man behind him. of course, being at such old age made the owner give up easily and retreat to inside the store and to the nearest telephone for the police.
heeseung was smiling, laughing breathlessly at such a successful act that merely took a week and a half to achieve. the loud steps of his black converses came to a stop in front of the only store with a neon sign at this time of night. the dry cleaners where he could finally collect his jacket.
he swung the door open, ignoring the glare of the same girl at the run-down counter as he raced to the hanger racks to find it. the loud scratch of the girl's chair bounced off of the poster-ridden walls when she stood up in disbelief at the return of the boy who left her with a hand of dirty pennies and a destroyed jacket.
"nathan?" she abruptly spoke up and heeseung's pace faltered for a brief moment while he ignored her calling. she had a lot of questions in mind as to why he was running with wads of cash glued to him and why it took him to long to collect his jacket.  "those aren't yours, are they?" her glasses adjusted on her nose bridge as two shakey fingers pressed against them. she was referring to his coveralls now soiled in stains. he had almost forgotten the fake name he used so he didn't even realise she was referring to him.
"s'course they aren't mine. you realise this world is full of cheaters," he rhetorically asked through messy heaves of his chest while still flicking through articles of clothing. he was drenched in sweat and, motor oil and dirt, almost as dishevelled as the girl first saw him. her hands, once preoccupied with the newspaper she once read grasped onto her long red polka-dot skirt, uneasy with such a mean response.
the brief moment of silence broke at the relieved sigh that left the tall boy's parched lips as he found his beloved jacket. before he could pad back towards the entrance, the bright flash of red and blue reflected off the windows as police cars drove past at a deathly slow pace. they were searching for him. heeseung's dark eyes widened and he ducked down in an attempt to hide before his vision was clouded by red and white polka dots. "nathan, behind here," the gentle voice above the endangered male brought him back to reality and the crisis he was in.
the employee gestured to behind the front desk and he complied, side shuffling on his aching knees behind it. the girl was like his reflection, mirroring his positioning to take light steps and use her wide skirt to cover his face while he made haste getting to behind the desk. he met with the grim dusty table legs and leaned his back against it with a clamouring heartbeat. the unnamed girl returned to her usual position, reading a newspaper but all the tiny printed letters were too blurred by her adrenaline to actually process anything.
police cars swarmed by, their loud tires burning rubber against the road outside and their brash sirens singing out. heeseung was more than grateful for the little helping hand as he would've been toast if he was still out in the open. the only thing he thought about was the son of a bitch who ratted him out and sent a flock of police after him. he'd understand one or two cars but half a street full was asking for too much. it wasn't like he robbed the man's entire life savings, only a till full.
his partner in crime only took the flashing reflection in her glasses as a signal that the police cars had finally passed by and she craned her guilty head down to the man below her. his pearly white teeth shone, smirking in his pleasing tactic of avoiding the authorities, "thought you were a good girl. turns out y'not," was the only sentence he formed as his nerves calmed as his breathing regulated.
the quiet girl suppressed the tint of red growing from one of her cheeks to the other at his words, turning away in an instant to not blow her cover. "hit the road, hood," her voice changed while she referred to the criminal acts of the boy and now realised the kind of character he was.
the smoke of heeseung's cig left an imperfect line in the air as he stood up cautiously, eyes darting through the wide glass panes to see if the coast was clear. once he confirmed it was, he graciously stepped out of the desk and back on his previous path to the exit. the nickname 'hood' amused the boy, as well as the sudden fierceness in the girl he only thought was innocent.
"thanks, sweetheart. my name's heeseung," he revealed through a light whisper before he ducked out of the thrown-open door and to the opposite direction the police cars came from. the employee raced to the doorway upon his departure and leaned her head out of it to watch as the male escaped to an alleyway hidden in the shadows.
a knot in her heart snapping at the thought it would be the last time she'd ever see the boy. she knew from the beginning the coveralls weren't his and she knew his name wasn't actually nathan. because the tag on the jacket he left behind was claimed with blue pen that spelled his real name. all she knew about the dangerous boy was that she had fallen head over heels for him.
heeseung swerved past tight corners, cautiously avoiding the open from the fuzz that was most likely circling the area. he was trying his best not to move so violently and risk papers blowing out his pockets so he stopped once and found himself in an alleyway between some grocery store and two large skip bins where the stink was more detrimental than being caught by the police.
fortunately, there was a telephone hooked to the wall of the grocery store and as long as it wasn't hooked up to the services of the actual store, this could be his one-way ticket out of this muck. so, within two beats he held the phone up to his ear and dialled the only reliable service he knew. park jay.
sunghoon lost. the ear-defeating celebration from the pack of animals in the middle of the track only rubbed salt in the wounds when sunghoon exited his vehicle and scrambled his hair in his fingers out of frustration. jake stepped forward and rubbed the dishevelled male on the shoulder out of encouragement but he didn't bite into it. the cold winds brushed against the equally cold atmosphere and it sucked having two losses in a row.
you stood beside riki and began to turn away as sunghoon and jake were an inch past you when felix's loud voice yelled, "that race was child's play. i thought you had more fire in you, but i guess you put out," he mocked cruelly, indicating something unrelated to racing.
"s'got a broad with 'em. whaddya gonna do on the way home? this a gangbang?" another male you never met before slurred out, clearly mixed with alcohol. the disgusting comment made your nose scrunch and riki's steps froze.
"ey, let me tap in then," another one drunkenly laughed while his arms were slung around chan and the previously spoken male.
"what'dya meant to do the other 23 hours and 45 minutes in a day, han?" hyunjin teased immediately and han was laughed at while the other boys yanked his clothes mockingly.
the laughing group of hyenas in contrast to your silent crew made you grow embarrassed by the inappropriate remarks. well, until riki's fist banged into han's snickering face and made the boy almost collapse like a folding chair. your eyes shot open, sunghoon and jake immediately spun back around to stop the incoming throttle the seven active men were about to induce on riki.
the mobs of drunken teens were reeled around the scuffle, making it almost impossible for your two friends to pull their youngest out of the rut. your fingernails seeped into riki's shoulders as you attempted to help them hold riki back from going any further than a punch against han and the other men did the same with the said male.
"bust a gut, but you'll be blown off when i get my hands on you-" riki hissed out, voice hindered by the violent thrashes he used to try and get out of the lock sunghoon and jake had on him. han's lips were sneering in anger, cheek reddening while fought against his kind.
definition:'bust a gut'. > laugh out loud.
'blown off'. > defeated in a race.
"bite me!” han yelled before getting shoved to the ground by felix and chan, the two men who were slightly guilty for their friends' behaviour having met you beforehand. you stole a glance at felix, eyebrows furrowed in anger at the switch of personalities the men had around their friends. you thought they were cool at first before their true colours showed.
"cool it!" chan shouted while han was still itching to get his hands on riki. riki finally complied with the grip on his arms, calming down his heaving chest that was so clouded by anger and humiliation.
"i'm warnin' you ever utter a word about y/n," sunghoon rasped, for once his pink lips not clouded by the smoke of a cigarette between them. felix gulped down dryly, eyeing you through the gap between jake and riki's shoulders sympathetically.
"these chicks're only good for one thing," the male with dark hair who previously brought up the idea of the 'gangbang' spoke so confidently and your stomach turned at his controversial words. riki's body jerked at the immorality of the other and sunghoon called out for him to relax.
"fuck up, changbin, for fucks' sake," felix cussed in irritation while turning to his aggravating companion who never got the hint of the situation. you hand rubbed at riki's warm back to continue to settle him down as a blanket of intense silence ensued, consisting of death glares being shot from one boy to another.
"if you're cruisin' for a bruisin', this is our turf and we can get you kicked out anytime y'want," sunghoon warned lowly and felix's head angled downwards at his threat. before he uttered a word, hyunjin stepped forward with his red hair stealing the attention of everyone else.
"how 'bout we settle this? let's cop this side of town so you looneys can't reach us," hyunjin suggested and it piqued interest with his clique nodding in agreement.
"this s'not your turf and neither is it ours," sunghoon retaliated referring to the other side of town owning it. and to be exact, he meant yeonjun and his lackeys' ownership. hyunjin's head tilted in amusement, one eyebrow raised at the correction.
"well then, better defend their turf or you'll be bruised by 'em too. lets race. same spot, same time, tomorrow," hyunjin gambled and for one, you knew bets like these never ended well. you bit your lip uneasily and stole a glance at sunghoon. his eyes didn't falter, and neither did he move an inch from his position when his hands clapped against hyunjin's in a passive-aggressive handshake.
"winner takes the turf," he concluded while he released his hand from hyunjin's robotically and started to turn around to his vehicle parked behind him. you, jake, and riki copied his mannerisms and with hunched shoulders, you refused to return the sorry gaze felix conveyed to you. the tension in the air broke and was followed up by the loud celebration of the opposition's win.
sitting on four leather seats, you and the three others leaned on the counter, chewing your nails anxiously at the upcoming rumble in 24 hours. "i mean, surely you can bring your salt shakers and maybe sprinkle it in their eyes," jake humoured while looking over at sunoo who burst out laughing at the idea.
definition:'rumble'. > a fight among gangs.
"effective, don't you think? five bucks if i land it in jeongin's eyeballs just for you, riki," sunoo joked, previously hearing all about the events thirty minutes ago. riki just sighed out a less than enthusiastic laugh, clearly still torn on jeongin and his personal fight.
"you learnt better than that to set up bets again," you spoke with upturned eyebrows, staring at sunoo with a smile on your face to try and get him out of the habit.
"five bucks is not gonna empty my wallet," he replied while pouting his lips slightly to exaggerate his pronunciation.
"you paid your debts back?" you questioned, sounding a little more surprised than you intended to and the male was almost insulted.
"yes, actually," he rolled his eyes at your tone and then shifted his gaze to sunghoon whose head was in the clouds somewhere, only the fog of a cigarette blowing out of him. your eyes traced the long, slowly wavering line of smoke all the way up to the ceiling that danced before it disappeared into the air.
"sunghoon," you called his name and only his eyes moved to the direction of your voice, which you flinched in your seat, "oh my god. he's possessed."
sunoo and make cracked up quietly, not wanting to bring the male back to his right senses by being too loud. because for some reason, sunghoon's spaced-out periods were entertaining to watch. "must be heeseung's ghost. hey hyung," sunoo piled to the humour and you chewed the inside of your mouth not to giggle as well.
"stop," you begged while silently laughing while tugging sunoo's wrist to try and stop his hand from waving like a robot at sunghoon as if he were greeting heeseung.
finally, sunghoon's eyes blinked and he awoke from whatever curse was placed upon him, "fuck. we are so canned this rumble," he groaned while his hands clawed at his roots, palms drowning his eyes in darkness while he covered them.
"cool it, hyung. we've got weapons," sunoo calmly reassured while sliding a bottle of ketchup to jake which the male effortlessly caught and raised in the air playfully.
"'m being serious. six of us and eight of 'em, if they don't bring any other hobos with them, we're dead," he responded while his hands dripped from his anguished face and resided on the table.
"it was your bet, jackass," jake's brows crossed as he placed the bottle on the table and crossed his arms. sunghoon grunted while he slowly looked back at the other.
"yeah, i know that. how else would i have gotten them off us," his dark faze darted to riki's unsuspecting face next, "some fucker decided to strike 'em first, not once but twice."
riki's mouth fell open in treachery at his scolding, "lay off, hyung. you saw the way they were talkin' to y/n," he retorted while his blonde hair bounced with every word he spoke.
"i saw, we were jus' outnumbered. it was a bad move," he explained as quickly as he could before you got the wrong idea. his reasoning made sense but riki still thought he was getting heat for shit.
"whatever," the younger scoffed, pride partly hurt when he recalled the amount it took to calm him down from lashing out at han further.
"hey, riki. you wanna drop jay's ride at his garage for jungwon in the morning?" you asked the other to change the subject and ease the growing pressure in the room. the boy nodded his head and jumped up from his stool without another word and you trailed behind him to the entrance, "catch you later."
"i don't get it, he would've done the same for you," riki opening complained, hair grasping at his roots in stress as he steered with one hand. you leaned your chin on the back of your palm, listening intently to his worries while the gusts of cold night winds blew past you through jay's roofless automobile.
"no one was in the right in that situation," you responded and riki's eyes flicked up to you in the rearview mirror for a split second while he tried to piece together why, "i don't care about the shit they said. i know the only girl they'd ever kissed is probably their moms so why should i," you grumbled and a quiet noise in riki's throat signalised that he was laughing just a tiny bit.
"so you agree with sunghoon hyung then?" he mindlessly questioned as he turned a corner and the come and go of neighbourhood lamposts illuminated him briefly.
"i didn't say that. riki, he would've done the same if heeseung or jay was also there. but they weren't. can't you see that their absence is affecting him more than you think?" you asked with a simple reflection and riki's lips closed while he thought about it for a second.
"you're confusing me," he blabbered while his eyebrows furrowed at your complex analogy. you hummed for a second to piece together a version that maybe he would understand.
"i'm saying that he was trying to keep you outta trouble. he was scared of them and scared you'd get hurt even more," you finalised and riki released the grasp he had on his blonde tufts while he sat up straighter.
"hyung doesn't get scared, y/n. we could've taken them, easily," he contradicted whilst he pulled up to jay's father's abode. you clicked your tongue at his stubborn disregard and unlocked your door to step out.
"you didn't see it but i did," you swore before knocking on the garage door a few times and awaited a response. jungwon was usually still here at this hour so you had nothing to worry about. riki stayed inside jay's car and tapped his long fingers on the steering wheel to an imaginary beat. the garage door finally revolved upwards and you saw the expected boy alone in the empty garage. your eyes widened at the lack of heeseung's car that left behind a few splatters of oil in the centre of the room it used to be in.
"where's heeseung's car?" you asked the boy and furrowed your eyebrows at the last remnant of the boy being gone. jungwon's cat-like eyes peered back at you and stepped to the side of a wall to make way for jay's car.
"what do you mean? i gave it away," he quietly muttered while carefully scanning your shift in expressions. your heart panged at the very words and although you expected it since it was a race for the pinks and all, this just revealed that the only reason jungwon spent late nights at the garage was to clean the vehicle for the enemy.
your mouth pursed and you steered your gaze away from jungwon, hurt, "oh. right," you mocked remembering the bet. you tried to hide your solemn expression through a thick lie, "i forgot."
riki turned off the engine of jay's car and stepped out after parking it in the middle of the garage, he tapped the hard metal of the vehicle and looked up at jungwon, "it's dented. when i took it out for a spin, i didn't know if be racing with some psycho," riki explained while jungwon walked away from you and towards the rear of the vehicle to see the damages.
"that's totalled," jungwon's eyes widened at the large vacant indent captured just beside the boot of the car. he slipped his white thick gloves off and placed them in the pocket of his coveralls, "you guys win or lose?"
"lose," you softly responded laced with a layer of anguish and defeat. jungwon's lips just downturn at the disappointing reply.
"i was about to catch some z's so i'll head out nd fix it tomorrow, cool?" he questioned the male who was striding closer towards him from the hood of the car.
riki's eyes show up and he immediately shook his head, "you gotta fix it sooner or later, i don't want jay to flip when he sees i've broken his car," he wailed while he put his palms flat together as if he were praying.
"don't flip y'lid, rug rat. jay isn't coming home anytime soon," jungwon conceived while he buttoned down his coveralls and took his arms out of the sleeves, revealing his clean white tee in comparison to the dirty pair of coveralls he wore. he linked the two sleeves of his coveralls and tied them around his waist, settling on his hips. from the lack of fabric around his forearms, you could finally see what laid underneath that baggy fabric. well-toned biceps formulated by the tired labour of car work.
"first thing in the morning," riki pleaded next and earned the eye roll of the older male as he turned on his heel and began to walk the other way.
"they still at the diner?" jungwon asked, knowing the usual routine of the guys after a race and completely disregarding riki's whining.
"i'll tell you if you promise to do it tomorrow!" riki yelled out from within the garages jungwon was already skipping towards the direction of the diner anyways. you just gave the asking male a nod at his question and that's all he needed to go. the male now left with you sighed through his nostrils and you made haste in clicking the automatic door button to start to close the door, leaving the boy inside. he screamed out and jumped out of his frozen position to meet you outside, making you laugh out at his skittish behaviour.
sunghoon was worried about being outnumbered. if sunoo and jungwon came with us tomorrow, that would be six to eight. it would be fine if the race really was just a race. but from the intense atmosphere where the bet took place, you knew it would most likely result in a rumble regardless of who won or not.
rumbles happened every blue moon or so. your crew never really thrived on gang fights but only did when it was necessary. and to get these stray kids off your turf was definitely needed. so you needed allies, at least a handful of them for undeniable succession.
that's where you found yourself outside snob-high. the place where you wanted to find the very man you dread. choi yeonjun.

The only question i'm asking myself right now is: Did i get better at managing grief or am i fooling myself?
I know damn well what the reality is but i don't feel it. Maybe it's self protection. But when i look at him, i see a man that is not dead, not really. I see a silly man with a bass guitar that i love dearly and owe allot of my sanity to.
The thing is that i'm terrified of death bacause it comes with one of my biggest fears, which is forgetting. Forgetting what someone looked like, forgetting what they sounded like, what they did, the memories, the first day of meeting, the little things. So when someone passes (human or animal) that was dear to me, i need to pay as much attention to them as possible. Memorials, photo's, crafts, stories because forgetting feels like the biggest betrayel I could ever do.
When I read about Reita, I just got off work and I had plans that evening and I had exactly one hour to get ready. Dinner was gonna be ready in 10 minutes and to kill time I opened tumblr only to immediately see the news. I googled it cause people are trolls but it turned out to be true. So I broke down, cried while eating (that combo is painful af), made myself presentable and off we went. My mom and I had tickets to see our favorite comedian, front row. The fucking irony!!!!! While we were waiting for it to start I was reblogging memorial stuff to calm myself. I actually managed to have a good evening and even laughed out loud at the jokes. I thought of Reita plenty of times during the show, I thought of Uruha, Aoi, Kai and Ruki. I thought of 4 people on stage instead of 5. I thought of the promise I made with myself to see them live one day, to get vip tickets and crochet each of them a silly gift. It went back and forth, "hahaha funny joke" to "omfg not our beloved Reita". I've managed to hold myself together pretty well this week. I had allot of crying session, cried full on at my workplace. But my desk is facing the wall and I'm a very silent cryer so no one noticed.
Tbh that exact day I was thinking of how much I hated life. And how fucked up I've felt and how fed up I was with everything. How I feel like things will never be okay and the thought of "making a plan" crossed my mind. Reita's passing brought me back to my senses, like babygirl wtf are you doing??? It made me realize there's so much to live for still, that rude strangers aren't important. The only things that matter are the things and people I love. Reita is one of those people and it made me forget about recent shitty events and only focus on that silly man with that bass and the noseband. Maybe I'm delusional, maybe it hasn't hit me fully yet. But I can't help but feel so grateful for this man. Grateful for discovering this band, to hear that bass he provided. Grateful to be alive and to keep going. I want to live as long as possible to remember all the things I loved for as long as possible. He did that for me, in life he comforted me during my anxiety and depression. And in his death he comforted me again but in a different way. And I want to keep that feeling and take it with me♡ Thank you wonderful bass man, with your goofy and bright personality. Rest well, you won't be forgotten.

Trigun Stampede Finale - Episode 12 Thoughts from Pom
0) Knives likes cowboys. His gap moe just keeps getting better. What a dork? I love him?
1) Meryl’s character growth has been super fulfilling to watch. I love how she stopped Knives’ plan to kill everyone by taking those steps to reach Vash. She did something so dangerous, risking an agonizing death at Millions Knives’ hands to save everyone, instead of freezing in terror like a lot of people would have done in that situation! I respect her SO MUCH.
2) Knives’ roar of outrage when he tries to kill Meryl. It really is always a brunette getting between him and Vash isn’t it? Junya Ikeda acted his heart out and it was amazing to hear how incensed Knives was while also hearing the panic of losing Vash in his voice too. I feared for Meryl as much as I felt heartbroken for Knives.
3) That scene with Vash awakening to save Meryl was some good food. Actually shivered when he thanked her as he stepped back into the fray to face Knives. The sound design, animation and voice acting of this show is perfectly crafted to give you a rattling experience.
4) I am a Stampede undercut Vash appreciator, but I love Vash’s new look in this episode. The reveal when it finally settles into that shape is once again a testament to the love poured into this show. His antennae are prominent, his forehead is cute, and I’m overjoyed that this iconic look could be given to him without sacrificing his undercut. It’s aesthetically pleasing. I hope that they keep this look for Vash.
5) Knives is beautiful. What right did Orange have giving Knives the prettiest face on this show?
6) Vash’s wing is monstrous to behold. The exact moment when it unfurls during his fall from the tower is HAUNTING ME.
7) The way the flying fight scene perspective makes you feel Vash’s gunshots as if he’s shooting AT YOU when he’s shooting at Nai. Ow. Sexy but ow.
8) Nico picking up Meryl and booking it will live rent free in my head forever too. Take her and run. Pocket wife. Zoom.
9) Unhinged freak thoughts incoming! I thought I was scared of Vash’s forehead but I was actually just scared of the nape of his neck being stiff with hair gel. I have a thing about the back of the neck. It’s gotta be bare so it can be stroked with light malice and gripped with violent force. Vash’s forehead is for kissing and smacking and flicking things at (Everything I want Nico and Meryl to do). Vash’s NAPE is for sucking biting & pinching (Everything I want Knives to do). It’s good Vash’s underside is shaved because the back of his buzzed neck is ero, and because the bottom half of his skull is slightly bristly, a superior texture. If Knives wants to grab him by the neck he can feel the warmth of Vash’s skin and pulse under his palm. If he wants to hold Vash by his hair he can grab a fistful from the top of his head. It’s perfect for my deranged imagination.
10) Kisses Vash’s forehead. Kisses it so much.
11) Vash bit Knives’ hand like an incensed dog and looked adorable doing it.
12) Millions “Hysterically appalled by my Eve’s savior complex” Knives
13) I was on Knives’ side when he said, in breathless horror, “After more than a century, that’s the best answer you could come up with?!” Seriously, Vash, that was such a lackluster response! I don’t care if you got shot fifteen times by the JuLai police, when you fly into the stratosphere with your brother who is in love with you you have a serious heart to heart with him! Jerk! /kidding
14) Knives finally realizing Vash is lost to him forever in that scene haunts me. He’s devastated. I picked the right antagonist to stan. This hurts so much.
15) Knives being the powerless one, having Vash wrenched away from him again and again, even though he promises to keep fighting for him is what gets me. Stampede is relentless about confronting you, the audience, with the fact that Knives is an EXTREMELY romantic character. Knives is SO WEIRD— he has these violent murderous methods, and yet he also represents this ideal paradigm of undying love. He’s not just a yandere. His heart was BROKEN this ep. He was squashed. The irony that the guy who hates all of humanity experiences so much humanity is buckwild. Knives is a romantic character even if some audiences find it repellant to ship him with Vash. His love for Vash is as unhesitant as it is unhealthy, to dramatic effect. The more Knives and Vash push against each other’s ideals, the tighter those ideals coil.
16) Those were the most beautiful dying words I’ve ever heard, thanks Knives I’m sobbing. You still do everything for that impossible “Us,” even after everything. Even after Vash has chosen humans over you every time. I love this sad lovesick plant.
17) Knives always keeps his promises to Vash. No, I haven’t read Trimax yet, but I know we haven’t seen the last of him.
18) The way Vash screams “Nai!” and sobbing Nai’s name while falling back to Earth can become my new ring tone! Congratulations to Yoshitsugu Matsuoka for bringing such a heartwrenching performance to Trigun Stampede Vash. ;-; </3 I love hearing his uniquely soft voice.
19) Stampede Eriks my beloved. Brokenly playing piano because it’s his last connection to Nai. He thinks he’s killed Nai and all the plants in addition to destroying JuLai. My depressed, remorseful baby oh my god.
20) Season 2 confirmed! 🎉 THANK YOU SO MUCH STUDIO ORANGE AND CONGRATULATIONS!💕🍊
Extra Thoughts!
21) Honestly, I feel relieved that Season 2 is a ways off in the future. It gives me time to thoroughly enjoy the massive amount of beautiful fanart and fanfic that’s been created. I was kind of just shoving it all in my mouth before and I want to savor it with a calmer frame of mind.
22) From my perspective as a fan creator who also makes original comics the pause period gives me a sense of breathing room to digest what I felt from this show and make the best possible fan creations about it. All my fanart so far has been made in a rush of passion. That’s fun and exciting, but without reflection, it lacks focus. I look forward to reading Trimax and fully learning all of the story. Also looking forward to do solo and collaborative zines, among other future Trigun fan projects!
23) I’ll admit that Stampede was my introduction to becoming a fan of Trigun, and yet, I feel safe and understood by Studio Orange’s retelling in a way I can’t articulate or justify. “They Get It” has no business coming from my mouth, but it is the way I feel, for some reason. How did they do that? It must be magic. Thank you Orange! Because of Stampede, I fell in love with all of Trigun. Met some really cool people, too. ;-; A
