🍎 Is there anything you straight-up won’t write?

I think this is highly dependent on the canon. Like people kept requesting I write body horror darkfic or porn for the Muppets and I... was not going to do that. But I am happily writing porn and body horror darkfic for WWDITS.

That said... Hmm. I won't say I never write unhappy endings, because I've done it before. (Never untagged.) But it's not typical. There are definitely some kinks that repulse me so much that I don't think I could ever write them (scat, emeto, amputation, stuff like that) but I think everyone has at least a few kinks they wouldn't want to write.

Oh. I don't like writing characters as being part of a marginalized group that they're not canonically in. (Raceswapping, trans headcanons, disability AUs, etc.) If they're canonically that, then yes! I'll write it. But idk. I just typically like writing the version of the character that exists in canon, and I feel like being a part of one of those marginalized groups so changes the way you look at and exist in the world that the character and canon would be completely different. Sexuality I can kind of handwave unless a character explicitly says they're not attracted to a certain sex, but I wouldn't go against a stated preference, either, unless there's reason to believe they're lying/closted/whatever.

Anyway, I get the appeal of these AUs, especially for people who are in those groups, but it's not a thing I care for.

🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…)

Nadja, honestly. I primarily write romance and rarely write for canon pairings, so I don't usually write Nadja/Laszlo and thus don't really write Nadja. But other than Guillermo, she's by far my favorite character in the show (it's genuinely Guillermo and Nadja, then many steps down, then everyone else) and she's very fun to write. I keep worming her into my nandermo fic just because I love her. lmao. I want to write her and Guillermo bonding over crime. I love them both.

I also like writing Laszlo but jesus fucking christ his dialogue is hard to write. Like all of them have difficult dialogue, but that man is on another level.

🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

Honestly, I don't write AUs that often. Like I said before, I usually like writing the version of characters that's in canon. I'll sometimes do canon divergent AUs, but I'm not usually that interested in writing full AUs most of the time.

When I do write an AU, it's usually going to be either a request or an AU that I think has narrative meaning, and like... I feel like you need to really think things through to write a good AU. I think most bad or unfulfilling AUs arise from writers failing to identify the parts of a canon that matter. And honestly, you can focus on different key themes in different AUs, but there should always be a key connection there.

Like, what is a key part of this series and how can you explore that best through an AU? Is it the character's inner trauma? How would that be affected by the new setting? Is it the relationship between these two characters? That should be different, but not so different that you lose that spark. Is it the setting itself? (Like a magical world or something.) Then you need to have an AU that nevertheless reflects that setting.

I think that an AU should be a way of exploring a character or theme or relationship that you think is intrinsic to the canon that you love, tbh. You should be deepening the understanding of that aspect when you write, not shucking it off. If you just abandon the parts of the canon that people love... yeah, ofc it will feel unfulfilling. You got rid of the fun part!

Like... for example, I recently wrote a space AU for Sleep No More, which is a canon that primarily deals with witchcraft and murder mysteries. For me, that sense of the fey unknown, the timelessness, and the scent of blood is something intrinsic to the show. So when I wrote a space AU, I leaned into what would be something fey and historical that could affect space (I went with the music of the spheres) and the murder and that vague sense of malevolence that seems to permeate the hotel. And I think the AU turned out pretty well! Because I kept the part of the show that means something to me.

...also because of this I do tend to hate mundane AUs. lmao. I never want things to get less supernatural!

idk man I have a lot of thoughts on AUs! Especially because a lot of canons I've written for have canon AUs and timeline fuckery!

(Also, when it's a canon that I don't even like, I have far fewer rules with AUs. Just write whatever, the canon sucks anyway. lmao)

ohhhh this could be an entire post on its own

My REGULAR blorbo is currently Guillermo de la Cruz. I love him love him love him and I'm obsessed with the way that he uses half-truths to keep the people he loves at arm's length. I love the way he cares for others through service and feels hurt when they don't do the same for him. I love the relationship he has with food that's only hinted at throughout the series. I love the religious damage that he seems to be purposefully flouting. I love how selfish he is and how his kindness is selfish and his love is selfish and his self-betterment is selfish. I love that he's so full of contradictions. I could tell you about what I love about Guillermo for hours. He's such a fascinating character. I feel like recently I've been really interested in needling at his hypocrisy and his selfishness and his neediness in fics, and how all that is nevertheless wrapped up in something very, very sweet. I want to write him caring and being cared for in the most fucked up ways possible.

My WRITING blorbo, though, is probably Nandor. I don't like him nearly as much as I do Guillermo, but he's very fun and interesting to write. It took me a while to get the hang of it because he's just such a fucking mess of a wet dog, but after thinking Far Too Deeply about that man's psyche, I really enjoy writing him. It's like sticking a bug in a jar and shaking it. Do I love bugs? I mean, they're okay. But I'm fascinated. I'm fascinated. I want to peel away his layers and see what makes him tick. It's probably something stupid and emotionally devastating. God.

I think as for themes I write for him a lot... Mostly ideas about abandonment and fear. I think he's in many ways the most bombastic and most timid of all the characters in the show, and that fascinates me. He's so big and so small at once, and Guillermo does the same thing but in the opposite direction. I love that Nandor puts on such a brave face while probably being the most traumatized of anyone there, even though he hasn't necessarily suffered the most.

I think about Nadja/Laszlo so much (such a quality pairing) and how Laszlo said that Nadja helped him heal from the damaged person he was, but how it took hundreds of years. I think we can begin to see that happening with Guillermo and Nandor, too. They make each other better and they make each other worse and they're opening each other up bit by painful bit and I love that for them.

I guess the theme I keep coming back to is the whole "make each other better or make each other worse, we are certainly making each other the most Ourselves version of ourselves we've ever been." It's the deeply unsafe safe space they create for each other that I think both of them need in different ways. God, I love it when two characters' mental illnesses line up just right. lmao

anyway, this is super, super long. so I'll stop here. but I can ramble about any of these topics forever hahaha.

Personality: I'm very laid back but sometimes come off as ego-centric and domineering. I have to admit I’m a lazy person who prefers having a leisure more than anything else. I mostly spends my time as a stoic and a calm person and i might even come off as apathetic towards the world around me [even tho I’m not]. I have trust issues and I don’t like asking for others help. I fear rejection and most of the time i think people are lying to me or being two faced. I feel like someone saying no to me or rejecting me would demange my pride and ego and others would talk about me and make fun of me so i refrain from asking for help or anything similar. She is initially your boss in the Port Mafia. You are an errand girl and run messages and files to various executives when phones are just inconvenient, and they don’t feel like making phone calls. It happens more often than you think. You’ve dealt with Chuuya, Akutagawa, Mori, and pretty much everyone. But your favorite person to visit is Kouyou!

She’s kind and as welcoming as one can get in the Port Mafia. She is also brilliant, confident in her capabilities, and a pro at conversations (she has to be, negotiations in the Mafia are complicated). And have you seen her fashion sense? It is immaculate! (at least in my opinion, lol) She appreciates how calm you are, and it is a trait that is valued greatly in the Mafia.

The two of you are a team to be feared! Especially as you get promoted to being a negotiator, and Kouyou is often sent with you to ensure that you’re safe. It’s a job usually reserved for Mafioso grunts, but she willingly volunteers because you’re pretty much her only friend in the entire organization. Like sure, she has Chuuya and whatnot, but they aren’t friends, ya know?

Death Note Matchup: I pair you with… Mello!

The two of you bond over horror movies! They’re one of Mello’s favorite past times, especially if there’s chocolate involved. Like, make sure there’s plenty of chocolate, and he’ll watch just about anything with you.

You and Mello both butt heads sometimes, what with you both being a bit domineering and steadfast in your ideals. He’s also more active, whereas you can be a bit on the lazy side. It’s not a bad thing, though! He helps motivate you because he knows you can do great things.

You are his rock, he’s so hot-headed, and you are calm, so you keep him level and cool. He knows about your trust issues and has some of his own, but the two of you have a bond where you can trust each other no matter what. He would never lie to you, wouldn’t betray you, and you’d do the same for him.

You struggle to operate from anything but a lack mindset. I wouldn’t say it’s a direct negative view of yourself, but you always think you can be or do more. The lyrics ‘While you sit there contemplating, you wound up left for dead’ just played and that’s the exact Virgo-esque energy that I’m feeling. It’s not that you procrastinate but you’re often reviewing all of your flaws and mistakes instead of focusing on what you did correctly or the positive impact that you had. With The Emperor in reverse—first off he looks very pouty when he isn’t upright haha. Whenever you do a bad job it really gets to you, or when you’re not chosen for a certain project, you take it deeply instead of it just being…well they decided to choose someone else for whatever reason they wanted to (which, tbh, is sometimes very personal and has nothing to do with you). The reason why this is affecting you so much is because you want to reach a place, or goal, that is stable and sturdy. Something that is worth showing off or celebrating, where you can sit there and go ‘ah, all that hard work was for Something at least’. The reason behind this is because your thoughts are as busy as bumbling bees. You have a lot of thoughts, but they aren’t always really fleshed out. It’s writer’s syndrome where you have your characters, and your plot beginning, and ending, but like you don’t want to write the stuff in the middle…but you got your bare bones! Then you go onto the next idea. It’s not that you’re always moving onto the next idea it’s just that you can’t get a handle on how to bring together all these fresh ideas and perfect execution. You either bring forth a lot of really neat ideas, and then if people give you free reign to go flesh them out, you struggle to make them just as good as they are in your mind. On the flip side, when you’re given orders, you’re worried that if you stray from conduct, you’ll get in trouble (think of how cashiers will let you skip out on a few cents if you’re short, stuff like that). So yeah, you’re a perfect employee or you’re very good at getting tasks done, but the things that are produced seem like they’re finished in a factory and it gets to you. On the other hand, your ideas are fresh and fun, but you can’t seem to ever really follow through with them as effectively as you’d personally like…and that’s gets to you. So the issue is that this causes you to beat yourself up. I don’t get that you compare yourself to others, but you just scrutinize the hell out of yourself because you see where you want to be, and you know you have the skills to get there, but you can’t do it and you hate yourself for it. So let’s work on that.

Advice

Well I drew that first card but I would like to actually help you so I drew another. What I got from the first card were two things: 1) you are a highly capable person, but sometimes to your detriment. You don’t like to rely on others because you should be able to figure it out. Or 2) sometimes you rely too much on divination or other people’s advice for problems that you need to solve on your own. For group one, I’m very happy that you’re a capable person but you’re not invincible. You need to rely on other people, and this is coming from someone who has the same issue. I can be a bit more understanding, but it’s only going to cause more harm to you if you don’t lean on other people for help. If they are willing to lend you a hand, then they mean you no harm. Especially if you’ve already taken the time to filter out the bad seeds in your life, how is it going to come back to harm you? There’s a strong need to be independent because that’s what you learned, but it’s just not possible to do that all the time. I know it’s hard, I know it’s embarrassing, it’s fucking sucks to be honest, but if you practice with one or two people a couple of times and realize that they Aren’t going to hold it over your head and that they Really truly are doing it because they want the best for you, you start to get a little better at it. For group two, I get it. Life is difficult, confusing, and you got a very simple tool and some guides that are willing to help you because they love you. However their lack of answers is out of love too lmao. Life is meant to be lived, and if you just got all the answers to your life by a simple card pull, or getting others to move you around like a character in a video game, then what are you really doing here? Yeah you’ll get to your destination but you’ll have lost out on all of the experiences along the way. When you experience those firsts, they won’t really be ‘firsts’ because you already know what’s going to happen. So it kind of sucks the fun out of everything, doesn’t it. Plus mistakes are what makes for experiences and how you gain your knowledge in a backwards sort of way (I mean, not life-threatening mistakes but yes). It can also bring you onto the right path without you even knowing. All this is to say that like, just live your life. Consulting other people or whatever tools you use for divination is cool just don’t use it as a crutch even though life is quite honestly, terrifying (this is coming from someone with heavy virgo influence and two fixed placements in their big three so once again, I Get It). For laugh, that leans more into you being a very ‘earthy’ or critical individual. You have your vision, you see your flaws and you’re very aware of everything that’s going on with you but like. You need to learn how to relax and just go with the flow, or take it easy sometimes. It’s okay if things don’t go directly according to plan all the time. You don’t need a million back-up plans, it’s okay if you get lost in the sauce sometimes…you need to learn how to be flexible. For Phoenix, this is asking you to soothe your thoughts down a bit. You need to look back at all the times you’ve endured some hefty situations or moments that were hell on earth and realized that you made it out, or times where you didn’t know what the hell you were doing but look, you’re still here. You have that ability within you to survive, you can do it again. Also I know this is literally a princess deck but the book in here has ‘Once Upon A Time’ in big text and I got the feeling that you’ll pass on your wisdom or life stories as advice to relatives or friends younger than you so they don’t have to struggle like you did. For 4thhouse…I want you to imagine you’re in a restaurant, and across the way you see a baby starting to get wound up. The parent sees this and starts to take care of the child—plays with them, makes little kissy faces, coddles them and holds them. Now I need you to imagine the parent is current you, and the child is past you. Take care of either your inner child, or look back and let past you know

that it’s ok, and you’ve made it and things get better, and even if they haven’t, you have the strength to overcome all the things that were thrown your way and you’re a really cool person right now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, letters are a powerful tool. If you want to try and write a letter to your past self about how much you’ve changed, or write a letter about your current situation for future you to find, it can really pack a punch. You should try it. As for Saturn, I don’t believe you’re being asked to just stop being so stiff and tough! There’s a reason why you have these qualities, but I think they’re asking you to assess how you’re using them, and how it’s affecting you. You can use them more effectively, in a way that does less damage, but accomplishes more work. Then for solar eclipse, it’s a simple message of that, it’s okay to start over and fresh and that sometimes things just don’t work out and it doesn’t mean you’re a failure. You need to go back in, recharge—sort of like the hermit? I get a creative energy from this card, probably because it’s the sun, but it might help those ideas that you get and can’t finish. So take some time to yourself once in a while and just jot a bunch of stuff down or expand on them when you can, who knows what’ll happen.

Hi there. I’m getting a feeling that these wounds are sourced back to your childhood, or they are familial ones. Instead of approaching them though, they are just taped up so you can function, and you distract yourself with shiny new stuff. Or you want to feel better whenever you hit this low, so you go purchase something so you can feel better for those few weeks instead of addressing the elephant in the room—you know how it is. This VI of Cups is giving off VII of Cups energy however, with how she’s holding all of them, is flushed in the face as well as done up, and there are multiple items on the card. So this just enforces the feeling that you’re kind of avoiding doing the work that needs to be done to heal this wound, and picking what next distraction you can use to make yourself feel better in the time being. Kind of like licking at your wound instead of taking care of it, is also what I’m feeling (because sometimes we don’t actually have time to sit down and actually address it, but I’m looking at wounds that have been here for a while so). At the same time, I’m getting a feeling of annoyance over this. Snowchild by The Weeknd came on and while I don’t want to take the song, I do want to take this line:

‘Only thing I'm phobic of is failing (failing) I was never blessed with any patience’

You’re doing all of these things and you’re wondering why this feeling is still here or why these thoughts keep popping up and I keep getting a feeling of like, ‘ugh are you serious why is this still here?’, there’s a lot of irritation or like, someone bouncing their leg from frustration or impatience. The reason is because: whatever happened or whatever was said to you, really scarred your heart. This wound is deeply embedded in you even though you try really hard to ignore it. This card is also giving me the feeling that whenever you think you’re good and you’ve settled it, it pops back up when your mind is calm or quiet, like intrusive thoughts that are centered around this incident? You’re left feeling imbalanced because you refuse to acknowledge or deal with actually resolving this issue because it hurts too much to either relive or focus on it, so you want to just get stuff to make you feel better or at least Seem like you’ve moved on and you’re okay, and sometimes it does make you feel okay for a minute, until the memory pops back up again and the cycle starts all over. So let’s move onto the advice.

Advice

Cards: You are talented and fucking amazing {the world needs your power. use your voice. just don't use it for dumb shit.}, Shark {swim away from this situation}, Solar eclipse, Full moon

Well, if it weren’t for these cards, all the songs so far would’ve alluded to someone specific hurting you, because they all mention someone in particular and in a pretty venomous way. I have a feeling that someone diminished your intelligence when you were younger…maybe someone you looked up to? I’m assuming it’s a family member because this energy is still around you and it’s not someone that you either want to or can just cut out of your life. If it is actually family, I would suggest that you start to create some boundaries for yourself since it’s creating this sort of wound. If you want to keep the person in your life, then have a conversation with them and explain that either what they say, the way they say it, or the overall topic upsets you and you would appreciate it if they could converse in this way instead. Then let the conversation flow and eventually reach a compromise. Of course change will take time, but if they’re an alright person then they should be willing to reach that compromise for you. If this is someone that you don’t want in your life, then. Yeah. Don’t keep them in your life lmao. It doesn’t have to be physically, or else this wouldn’t be coming through in this message, but they don’t have to have access to you like this. You can control the amount of access that people are allowed to have to you, and the energy they take from you. If you don’t want this person to have any, then they just don’t get it. Obviously like, be civil and don’t treat them like shit within reason, but not everyone in your life deserves all of your energy, no matter who they are. This gets a lot easier if you’re able to move out and away from people, but if you’re stuck with them, then you don’t have to converse as openly as you do with other people you choose to be close to. They ask questions, sure they’ll get an answer but if you don’t want to answer certain things then? Okay, sucks for them. Finally, if this is someone who is not even in your life anymore, you have to let this go. You cannot let this keep affecting you the way it is. You’re being advised to go within and heal this, it’s pretty straight-forward. Think about how confused you’d be if a doctor told you to use a facemask every night to solve a problem with your kidney. Doesn’t make sense right? This is essentially what’s happening to you right now. You need to go deep within, sort out what’s actually bothering you and effectively soothe this wound or it’s going to keep bugging you no matter how many times you try and cover it up. It’s a deeply rooted issue that’s seeping into a lot of different things and will start to affect how you see yourself if it isn’t already. Take some time for yourself as well, is another message I think. Also be patient with yourself, because this isn’t going to be a quick fix and you’re going to stumble along the way but like, that’s normal. If you aren’t then it wouldn’t be a sore wound right?

Okay…this might be someone who is just coming in strong and hijacked this pile but this is focusing on a relationship that has been taking up a lot of your focus. HAHA—okok wait. There are two possibilities so I’m going to thoroughly go through both of these. Hm, both Busted & Sorry started playing so yeah this is a relationship for some of you.

For the first group that are resonating with a relationship (platonic, romantic, or familial), you are stuck in the past. A near death grip on you for it to give you this many majors—aaa ‘Becky with the good hair’ stood out to me for some reason. Anyway, I’m sensing that this relationship obviously didn’t end on a good note, and you got screwed over in some way. One way is definitely obvious, but for others I’m just sensing that there wasn’t an equal give and take. This is someone that was very important to you, and clearly you were willing to invest a lot of love and care into the relationship, but the other party might have not been willing to even bother to make this work. There’s a ton of water imagery here. Temperance is pouring balanced water into both cups, leading to The Star emptying their jugs into the lake, and then we have the Queen. I know that water is Supposed to be in the cup, but it looks like there’s barely any water there on the card even though she’s still offering it. So from that it’s like: we start off with someone in a very balanced and healthy mindset and things are starting to seem off or imbalanced, so they start to put more into the relationship to get it to work because they think they’re doing something wrong or they’re not giving enough, to the point of them being emotionally drained and not having anything else to offer but they’re still trying. Like there’s a lack of emotional boundaries here and they’re trying to win their person over. However when it ended, it was difficult to truly move on? Like yeah the relationship is over and you get that but it’s still…I don’t know why I’m getting this feeling because the art is just an inverted version of the original to be honest, but it’s like you’re positioned to move and you’re all set but you just refuse to. You really do want to move, but you’re in a box instead of an actual cart, it’s kind of like you set up stuff to make it seem like you’re good to go so people don’t worry or think you’re still heart-broken because you don’t want to seem like it. I’m going to talk to the second group now, so you can skip ahead to the advice okay??

Now for the second group…you’re stubborn. Ah geez adore you started playing. Your issue is also based around love, but moreso the idea of it. You have a fixed idea of what type of partner you want, or what your life partner is like (too many PACs man), or how your relationship should be, etcetc. I think this message is coming straight from your guides instead which is why I laughed, because I’m getting less pain and more like, light scolding and frustration? You don’t necessarily work with your guides as much as you should. You know that love oracle deck that has the ‘not your usual type’ card or whatever? I feel like they are trying to get you to experience lessons or be open to people that could really enhance your life, but because of your strict vision, you sort of just ignore what’s given to you, or the possibility of it. In a way there’s a lack of emotional maturity here and, honestly, a feeling of being disconnected from reality. When I look at The Queen I’m seeing The Page, except if the fish was there she’d be looking at it like ‘oh my god are you kidding me’ lmao. The reason why I was laughing earlier is because when I looked at The Star, when I glanced over the actual stars in the background, I heard blaring sirens and ‘look at me! hello?! Are you listening??!!!’and that’s when I realized there are two groups in here haha. The lady in the card can be you pouring out all this effort in finding the dream ideal person and pouring out all of these people that will help you get to that person and your guides are losing their mind in the background like ‘no you need those stop!’ haha. There’s just some imbalance here and it’s causing you to actually impede your progress in where you’re Trying to be. You’re kind of treating life like a video game and inputting cheat codes to level up a lot faster and that’s not how it’s going to work and your guides are like, putting a hard stop to that so if you’ve been frustrated with the people you’ve been dealing with or wondering why the exact same type of people have been entering your life, this is probably why. Sooo let’s see where this advice can help you.

Okay, so at least I was right about there being two groups within one lmao, let’s see if I can try and combine this advice into one hm hm. So, regardless, there is some need to take care of yourself first and foremost. I’d take the hot mess card as tough love, and it’s more of a reminder that you shouldn’t let this situation screw with your state of being as much as it has—or as long as it has. Obviously you have emotions, you get invested and you’re allowed (even expected) to be affected by these things, but you owe it to yourself to treat yourself better than the things that messed you up like this. I know this card isn’t here, but take yourself out on dates. It doesn’t have to be out in public, but make your living place a lil cute, or make it look like a nice café you’d find in animal crossing or something, and cook yourself a meal. You don’t have to go all out or need someone else to make yourself feel good. As good as it feels to have someone else there to make you feel special, you’re able to do that all on your own. Plus, going on dates by yourself is super awesome; you don’t have to actually plan anything you can just Go and if you do anything awkward the only people who see it are people you will Never see again so there are no cons here. As for the expert card, I think if there are any symptoms or struggles you are going through, then yeah. Obviously, rely on your loved ones, but sometimes that validation can be too much validation you know. If you are seriously struggling with something, you don’t have to immediately jump up to therapy or anything, but any sort of professional or even someone with connections can help point you in the direction of someone who can help and show you resources that can help you. Quite literally that’s why the library is there, they have resources and self-help books and all you need is a card. Hell you don’t even have to check it out just skim a bit if you’re not able to at the moment. Now for villain…-whoever’s guides are here are blunt as fuck because I just keep getting phrases like ‘yeah, shit sucks huh’, but like. It’s loving I promise. They just want you to remember that this is not the end. It’s not too late to reinvent yourself, or pick yourself up from the ashes. Just because you hit a brick wall or you feel like you’ve been stuck in a loop forever—you can get out of it. You’re a very strong, beautiful, and lovely person and you’re always going to be. Don’t let this destroy you because it shouldn’t—is what I think they want to let you know. Then the last two, they really just want you to get out and experience life again. Like, actually live. You don’t have to go rock climbing or travel to a different country or anything, but I feel like you’ve become very introverted and pulled into yourself and they don’t want to keep watching you do that anymore. You can start off small, but what will really help you get back to where you were is by getting out and living your life. There’s a big protective energy here kind of like a big brother ready to kick someone’s ass, or maybe flick you on the back of the head, but either way it’s out of love hehe.

There are issues here that deal with carrying heavy responsibility and the burden or being a successful child within the family. There’s also heavy insecurity muddled within here as well. This is pretty straight-forward so this might be the shortest pile where I review the issue but: people expect a lot from you and sort of backed you into a corner where you don’t really have a choice in what you pursue in this life. This doesn’t have to be a stereotypical ‘you have to be a lawyer’ story, of course it can be, but it’s just the general: you are going to get a degree in a good paying job, you’re going to like it, and really you don’t have a say in the matter. Or you feel like you owe that to your parents after everything they’ve done for you. The issue begins however though when you struggle to see it through to the end? Or when you can’t keep up with the material and your grades start to drop a little. It makes a big impact on you because your family might brag about you a lot, or you might be the pride of the family in a sense. So when this happens, you seriously don’t want to talk about it, or hope the topic doesn’t get brought up. Another thing is that, if you don’t necessarily care about the subject you’re pursuing, it’s difficult to really be passionate about it and want to do well. If you’re lucky and it just comes easily to you, then you can pass it no problem but there’s still this empty feeling within you and you always look back and think about ‘it would’ve been nice if I had time to go after ___’. I talked about this with my roommate today, and she mentioned that she’s still trying to figure out what she wants to do but in the meantime, this degree is something so at least she has that, so this might be something else that’s happening for you too. You have things to show a sense of accomplishment, but you still feel like there’s something personally missing, and it’s bugging you. Like an itch you can’t scratch. But I weirdly feel very very numb right now like I’m not gaining any sort of emotions from this so you might have learned to deal with it, or you might’ve been drained to feel anything emotional over this by now. Even now all I’m getting is just, ‘it is what it is’, and call me an emotional sensitive bitch but I refuse to ever take that at face value, so I’m getting you some advice on how to heal this!

Cards: You do you {stop trying to change people, that shit never works}, Nostalgia {focus on the here & now}, Leo, Cancer

First off, I think it’s no coincidence that the second I pulled the ‘stop trying to change people’ card, Savior came on with the lyrics ‘don’t save me cause I don’t care’. Probably a very loud message from you guys to me, instead lmao. However, some of your other cards say otherwise, so I’m going to keep going as scheduled. For the first card…this is. Probably a message for you in the future. Right now, as I said I feel absolutely nothing reading this. So, for future’s sake at least, keep this in mind: when you change your mind about the direction of your career, education, or passion—stay steadfast. Defend yourself, obviously, and try to explain where you’re coming from and get through to people because honestly sometimes it really does work. Even later down the line. However, if people don’t listen and they’re going to continue to just be shitty, then don’t bother to give them your energy, it’s not worth it. As for nostalgia, it’s just asking you to be more present and stop mulling over past mistakes or what-if’s. It already happened, and we don’t have time machines yet. Even if we did, it’d be unwise to go back and change what we did, because like, we’re on our path for a reason you know. The best advice for right now, is to think about the things that make you happy, what do you feel most passionate about doing, what gives you a thrill and makes you comfortable. What makes you feel alive. What can you see yourself waking up and wanting to do every single day for the rest of your life? When you have time, put aside a day to think about these things and no I’m not stealing this advice from my roommate. The thing is that with you being stuck in your head and in the pain of how you lost your childhood to the choices that were made for you (which is completely understandable and valid), you still have the rest of your life to take it back. That’s what they want you to understand. There’s no time limit to enjoying your life. Now for Leo and Cancer, they want you to start flaunting your little hobbies and skills. Practice them more, partake in them more. Join clubs and meet more people who enjoy the same things as you, don’t hide this side of you just because it’s not what you’re set out to be professional in. It might take off some of this stress that you’re experiencing. Also you need to allow yourself to be emotional. I got the same with ‘woke the f*ck up’. He talks about needing someone with him, and I don’t think you’re very open, emotionally. Even when I tried to get you advice, I got the Very strong feeling of someone telling me to fuck off, that they’re good. I know it’s not that intense, or you wouldn’t be here, but I don’t think you allow yourself to be vulnerable…which is not helping your case. Step into who you are and allow yourself to feel, take back who you are. (I asked for one more song because I was barely getting any and it’s one of the saddest songs from LP. please. I love you, okay? )

hi im asking u this bc u seem to be bee duo enthusiast so

ive been calling c! beeduos relationship platonic because i thought that was what their cc’s said, and i thought they had said that they were uncomfortable with ppl shipping the characters. But ive seen a lot of posts that say their relationship is canonically romantic? and i absolutely do not want to come across as homophobic by watering down a mlm relationship to just friends because that happens so much in media so.

what is the canon state of their relationship / ur opinions on the platonic thibg

aw it’s totally fine, im flattered you asked me about this!

let me put it simply: it’s a whole mess, lol.

first im going to talk about what’s happened fandom-wide that caused differing opinions, and then i’ll explain my own opinion/interpretation. :]

(this got really fucking long im so sorry)

ranboo and tubbo initially proclaimed the relationship was romantic, specifically in argument with the wiki editors who had set it as platonic by default. (you can see this in the vod where they decide they’re canonically married— it’s very funny. chat tells them the marriage is already on the wiki, they check, tubbo is jokingly offended that it says platonic and asks if he needs to up the romance).

tubbo also makes jokes about adultry, which sort of implies the relationship is not necessarily a platonic one.

(theres definetly more in that stream alone but it’s been a long time since i watched it so i don’t remember a lot of it.)

the wiki, because of this, suffers from going back and forth on platonic and romantic, seemingly unsure where the joke ends and the canon begins, or if its canonically a joke! a mess, as you can already tell.

this gets more complicated as the marriage bit goes on: outsiders, such as phil and scott, both at one point say “platonic marriage”, which then ranboo and tubbo agree with. however, when chat asks them if they’re platonic, they say the opposite. so there is a lot of confusion there.

there’s also the difficulty of being able to tell streamers and characters apart. ranboo and tubbo both don’t like being shipped irl, and that’s their boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed. (they’re also minors, but tbh when they’re 18 in a year i will still be following their boundaries regardless of their legal age).

due to people not wanting to be accused of minor shipping, they started adding the platonic tone indicator to most of their drawings— basically a way of saying “no homo”. meanwhile, tubbo frequently on stream flirts with ranboo and makes quite a bit of nsfw comments towards him that are frankly hilarious.

this goes on for a while with nobody really sure what’s canon, but a lot of people assuming it’s probably platonic, until: the drama of the mods night. a few mods dmed all the wiki editors telling them ranboo wanted his canon character relationship officially set to platonic.

unfortunately for those mods; the very same day, a few hours later, ranboo on stream makes fun of puffy delivering him and tubbo “friendship flowers”. because, and i quote, “bruh. we’re literally married. this must be how the ancient greeks felt.”

in case you don’t know, the internet often jokes about how historians will call ancient greeks ‘very good friends’ when they are quite obviously gay. so in this context, ranboo is joking that people will call him and c!tubbo, who are married, “close friends”, when he doesn’t think they are.

basically, ranboo canonized romantic bee duo, the very same day the mods told everyone he’d wanted a platonic one.

chaos and drama immediately erupted everywhere. on tumblr, we were talking about how weird it was of his mods to do something like that without asking him first. we ALSO talked about how weird it was of them to assume that ranboo can’t make his own decisions, or assume teenagers cannot be in relationships without it being sexual. twitter did the same thing but in the opposite direction: called ranboo mods homophobic, or said they were mad ranboo felt pressured into making a romantic relationship canon ‘just so people could have mlm rep.’

i dont want to go into detail about the drama that happened that night because apparently official people follow me and i dont want to stir it up or have them come “clarify” things. im just saying what we talked about.

ranboo in typical ranboo fashion apologized quickly and seriously. he was deeply sorry for possibly offending anyone with how he’d portrayed his rp relationship with tubbo, and he also assured everyone the mod thing was just a miscommunication.

he said he would talk to tubbo and they’d decide once and for all whether it was platonic or romantic, and then announce so everyone would know.

it’s now been a few months and we've had no word from them on that development. we still have no clue.

now, here’s my opinion:

i want to take ranboos word for it that it was a miscommunication with his mods, but... we had it on good authority from people on the wiki team and people in the discord with the mods that (while it was happening) they were really going after the wiki admins, and also made some weird comments about it. that combined with the way ranboo seemingly had no clue (considering he canonized their romance that very same day).... it’s very. sus of the mods.

then there’s the canon we’ve got since then. although occasionally adults in the room have called it a “platonic marriage” and tubbo once (back when it first started) called it a “plankton tectonic” marriage, in roleplay it’s been... kind of not that. tubbo and ranboo make nsfw jokes about each other in character, and their characters also share a master bedroom and bed in the mansion. there's also the way c!tommy really thinks it’s a romance between them as well, and they agree with and play off that— for instance confirming that they “fell in love” when he asked, or ranboo confirming that they “make out on occasion”.

people will still put platonic on their art and posts, imo, because they’re worried about breaking ranboo and tubbo’s irl boundaries by looking like they ship them. or even just being accused of shipping real life minors. and that’s a valid fear to have.

the thing is though: c!bee duo are not cc!bee duo. they’re roleplay characters. cc!bee duo are not okay with being shipped, but they made their characters get canonically married, and call each other “husbands”. so it’s okay to write the word “husband” in your comic without adding “platonic” to it, i promise.

telling the ccs that their characters have to be platonic is... weird. it comes off as not only babying them, but also as saying teens can’t date without it being gross. which isn’t true.

(this is why seeing people overuse “platonic husband” so much bothers me. like, they ARE husbands. you can just say it. what are you trying to hide...?)

do i think they’re canonically romantic? ehh, its likely. it’s still okay to interpret them as platonic, because again, it’s hard to tell where jokes end and roleplay begins. like, maybe it’s jokes in the rp too, and c!bee duo are just friends. friends can and should be allowed to make jokes like that with each other! aro & ace marriages exist!

or, maybe it’s actually part of the rp, and they’re very much romantic. we don’t know!

some people say they could be a qpr (queerplatonic romance), which i could see. (a qpr is a relationship that fluctuates between, or can’t quite be sorted into, “romantic” and “platonic”. people in a qpr can do romantic things while having platonic feelings for each other). in my opinion this is a very valid interpretation as well!

CONCLUSION (sorry this got so long omfg):

are c!bee duo romantic?

its likely, but you can still interpret them however you like!

should i put /p on bee duo content?

ehhh? i find it annoying when it’s overused (as do others), but if you’re worried you can. its up to preference. putting it too much is weird though

should i put /p on things cc! bee duo do?

no. you’re not the one saying it so you can’t decide the tone tags for that. imagine you said something to your friend and a random stranger came up and was like “haha but that was /p right...?”

can i ship c!bee duo?

mmm. i’m not sure on this one. they are canonically married and very flirtatious, but the ccs don’t like being shipped and they’re close enough to being the ccs that actively shipping might be against boundaries.

can i treat c!bee duo as romantic?

yes. literally just don’t be weird about it. it’s not that hard! you can understand that two characters are husbands without making it weird

here’s the most important thing: boundaries. cc bee duo still haven’t told us what their preferences and canon is about this whole thing.

right now, i am assuming based on what they already show us they’re comfortable with, but! the second they give us any more info! all these opinions will change!

i am only going off what they do. i would never want to cross boundaries at all. i just wish they would make theirs a little more clear.

Sure! That sounds like a ton of fun. This might be a long one tho. Mind you, this is not the finished version of the answer. I'd like to link stuff and add a cut, but rn that's not possible. I'll update it when I can.

Let's go alphabetically bc why not.

Alistair:

Sweet guy. So sweet. There was a moment when I was hard pressed chosing between him and Zevran (alas, Zevran won). Also, he's weirdly tall according to the wiki? How did I not notice that before?

Let's get a bit more serious now, Alistair is a great guy. The only reason he's not the hero of the story is because he doesn't want to. He has all the qualities of a leader: he's good at dealing with conflict (as evident with the conversation with the mage at the beginning. He gets where he wants to get without antagonizing the mage, but without allowing him to trample all over him). He's a solid tactitian and knows how to make allies (he suggests to use the Grey Warden treaties, after all). I bet if he was in the leadership position, he'd even not bicker with Morrigan. His moral code is pretty tight; some might say too tight, but I think it's less about the moral code and more about learning to judge people by their actions, not by the labels they fit into (Morrigan is a proud apostate and therefore bad. Wynne is a humble circle mage and therefore good). He also has a bit of a black-and-white way of seeing the world. I empathize a lot with Alistair, especially with his experience with the Chantry and his subsequent reluctance to deal with it. I really wish I had gotten to know more about concrete experiences he had during his training as templar, but he seems reluctant to talk about it (gee, I wonder why).

Since I've only played the game once, I haven't really picked up on Arl Eamon's abuse towards him, which apparently exists (Isolde, however... I mean, even if he were Eamon's illegitimate son, he's a kid, ma'am, he didn't exactly get to chose his parents. So that's so not okay). Alistair's way of speaking about them both, however, is either sign that he has not come within a hundred miles of acknowledging how much it hurt him, or that he's already gone through the whole process and has decided to forgive them. The latter shows a very strong character; yes, he relies on the approval and leadership of others, he has his issues, but he's already started working on them.

That being said, irl Alistair would be like a little brother to me. I'd tease him relentlessly (all in good fun and I promise to stop if it makes him uncomfortable, but he's just so teasable). I still wish the videogame gave him the chance to take important decisions for himself. But that, of course, would somewhat defeat the point of the game.

Leliana:

Another sweet, sweet person. Her singing voice is amazing. Her belief in the Maker inspires me (I'm a religious person and seeing religious characters represented in a positive light is Very Cool. It's also sometimes a source of discomfort, because the Church has done a lot of very messed up stuff and positive representation can sometimes veer into apologetics for things that should not be excused, but that's a whole other can of worms. The bottom line is that religious characters sometimes work for me and other times don't and Leliana works for me very much bc she's an outsider inside the Chantry).

Leliana is best friend material, tbh. I'd love to get to know her irl, discuss theology and philosophy and maybe even politics? She makes mistakes and has prejudices, but, tbh, so do I. And I do get the feeling that she tries her best to learn. From the times she intervenes in a conversation between the Warden and an NPC, she shows herself to be compassionate and open to the needs of others. What I get from her character is that she genuinely wants to help, which is something that I adore of her. I suspect that she sometimes has a hard time deciding wether she's a good person or not. She has killed and seduced and worked for a morally dubious person, and she doesn't show the same nonchalance about it as Zevran (though they both do discuss their line of work in very... professional terms). This is, however, more of a headcanon than actual factual canon.

I also very much enjoy her girly side, like her interest in shoes and dresses. She's one badass woman who also looses her cool about the latest fashions in Val Royeaux. I like that. Between her and Alistair, a non human noble Warden has as good a help to navigate the Fereldan court as they're going to get. Leliana is also, I can't forget that, clever and insightful. It'd be easy to write her off as the innocent chantry girl, but she's so much more than that. Her kindness is paired with foresight, I think. She knows that taking on the trouble to help now can go a long way in the future. I just have a lot of respect for her.

Loghain:

This one's gonna be short bc I didn't recruit him. He's an amazing villain and would probably be a great Warden as well. He reminds me of Denerhor from LOTR; once a hero/stewart of his people, ambition and desperation have driven them both down a terrible path. I have also only little idea about his past. People say he lost a lot, and I believe it wholeheartedly; it doesn't excuse the fact that he plunged the country into a civil war in the middle of a Blight. I don't have a lot of sympathy for short-sighted politicians. I wish he hadn't made himself regent. That's what I take away from his character.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention that really impressed me was his death. I had Alistair duel him (that was a rough duel), and then it kinda just jumped to a cutscene of my Warden nodding and Alistair executing him. That didn't sit well with me. I didn't want to kill Loghain, and less so in front of Anora. But what impressed me was that Loghain just accepted it. That takes a whole lot of guts. Compare that to Howe's death, and how he screams out that he deserved (more, probably, or anything but death) and it's crystal clear who the more noble of the two is. Loghain strikes me as very lawful neutral, and any neutral alignment has the particularity that it can be dragged towards good or bad, sometimes without the characters noticing it (which is interesting from a DnD perspective; neutral is often concieved of as just as stable as good or evil, but that may not be true. But that's a different post). Anyway, Loghain's death was impactful.

Morrigan:

I could kick myself for not maxing out her approval in the first play-through. I got to enjoy a bit of her friendship by the end of it and boy was even that little bit worth it. Friendship with Morrigan is something that is hard-won. It's all the more precious because of that.

Morrigan is full of paradoxes, I think. She's incredibly wise in some ways, yet also very short-sighted (”just kill them, don't solve their problems”. Morrigan, dear, I'm not going to gain a lot of allies if I kill everybody who poses a problem to me). She is so intelligent, but emotionally... not so. She knows so much about some things, and very little about the next. She's incredibly wilful and knows what she wants, but follows Flemeth's orders all the time through. She hungers for power and independence, yet craves closeness, but won't allow herself to have it. She asks you to prove yourself to her and is extremely critical of your actions, I think, because she's afraid. She bites the hand that feeds her because it might hit her next.

Like with Eamon, I haven't managed to catch the undercurrent of abuse that seems to permeate Flemeth's relationship with Morrigan. Except there are signs, because there must be something Morrigan is scared of and who has instilled all that rage in her, and that's Flemeth. Also, she clearly hates/does not care about her and wants her dead (unless killing Flemeth was part of Flemeth's plan as well? Hm.)

Morrigan is that one person who you are nice to, continuously, because nobody else is. And suddenly she becomes less cold. And then friendly. And suddenly you're asking yourself why everybody hates her, because she's a really good friend! I just wish the other companions came to a similar conclusion, especially Alistair and Wynne.

Oghren:

They did this man dirty. He has such great lines and I'm convinced he was a great person before Branka disappeared. He has that dwarven warrior spirit, and while he looks like Gimli, some of his most impactful lines remind me of Dwalin or even Thorin Oakenshield himself. He could be so noble had he gotten some character development, damnit!

Oghren as he is written is somewhat disgusting. I hate the lechering comments and the drunkenness. And still, I don't hate him because of those amazing lines he has when he's actually sober. It's frustrating and I'll give him that character development myself if the game won't. I strongly associate the song Whiskey Lullaby with him, bc that's how he would have ended up if the Warden hadn't taken him along (warning: the song talks about suicide and alcoholism). Like I said, they could have done such cool things with his character. As he is written now... it's just sad. Moments of lucidity drowned in alcohol and creepy jokes. As you can see, I don't blame the character for either. The alcoholism happens all too often irl. The creepy jokes... I put that one on the writers' tab.

I actually think Oghren could have been a great mentor figure (I know, I shock myself as well sometimes). Next to the Grey Wardens, the ones who know most about fighting darkspawn are the dwarves because they have to deal with them constantly. Especially a warrior caste dwarf like Oghren could have brought a lot of that invaluable knowledge to the team, especially since there are no Grey Wardens in Ferelden but two extremely green recruits. Next, you get the chance to give Oghren the command of the teammates you leave behind in the battle of Denerim with the reason that he has lead men into battle before. Where did that suddenly come from? Oghren should have been right up there telling my Warden that they were doing this wrong, that they needed more food (and booze) and a confident leader to keep the armies they've called together going. Oghren should have been able to tell my civilian city elf who got recruited into the Grey Wardens a six months ago how one leads an army. How one presents oneself to inspire confidence, how one doesn't crack under the pressure, how one gets the leaders of said armies (some who hate each others guts i.e. Dalish elves and humans) to work together. And, last but not least, Oghren could have had a great story about grief. This is a man who has lost most of what made him (and what he hasn't lost he's spilling down the drain with every mug of ale). This is a man who, if you take him into the Deep Roads, has to see what his wife did to his family, how his wife got absolutely obsessed, and can be forced to kill said wife or watch her die. All Wardens loose their home and families at the start of the story. It would really have rounded the whole narrative out if the Warden and Oghren could have recognised their grief in each other and hashed it out somehow. Such as it is, Oghren is a depressed drunkard and there is nothing we can do about that. I find that frustrating.

Rascal (a.k.a. Dog):

Best boy. 100/10. I wish we had gotten to see the reaction of the different origins to the mabari (because elves probably have a whole different experience with them from mages or humans. And dwarves just... I think they straight up have none? XD). Other than that, no complaints. The name Rascal was the one I gave my dog because you have to be a right rascal to survive what he did and play the pranks he plays. Smartest breed in the world indeed.

Shale:

Shale is one of those characters that I recruited rather late in the game, so I haven't had the chance to explore their personality and worldview, really. I didn't even get to take them to the Deep Roads (this will be ammended in playthrough nr. 2). As such, I don't have particularly strong opinions on them (or her? The wiki refers to Shale as 'it', but that sounds weird). But, because I know so little about Shale, I have a lot of questions. First, what were they like before they were a golem? Shayle, as she was called then, was the best warrior of her time if I remember correctly. Why did she become a golem? Was it to be able to eternally protect her people? Was the sarcasm the golem Shale exhibits also part of the dwarven warrior Shayle or did that come later (if for thirty years you have nobody to talk to but yourself, you better be entertaining. And I can imagine how it could make somebody terribly jaded as well).

Next, how attached is Shale to their golem form, exactly? According to the banter, they infinitely prefer it to a squishy fleshy form. If that is the case, however, why go to Tevinter to try and become a squishy dwarf again? It's not like that process could be reversed if they wanted to become a golem again; if Shale survives to the end of the game, the Anvil of the Void is destroyed and Caridin is dead. Was the whole spiel about their indestructible form a façade? It might have been, but not because Shale actually disliked their form. I think it would have more to do with the loss of their memories and with the very invasive experiments and alterations of Shale's body made by the mage Wilhelm. The loss of memories means that Shale is unable to remember life as a fleshy creature. They might be deflecting by pretending that they didn't care for that experience anyway because of the superiority of their golem form. The modifications made to their form by Wilhelm would have alienated them from their body. In light of this, it's significant that Shale asks the Warden to decorate their form with crystals.

All of this is, of course, pure speculation. I may have easily missed or forgotten details that would disprove the above thoughts. All in all, I like Shale and I hope we meet them again in DA4 (given that it's mostly set in Tevinter). It's a liking from a respectful distance, because Shale is tall and made out of rock and also way more experienced than I will ever be (they are literally the oldest member of the Warden's little Blight fighting squad).

Sten:

Sten is another person I'd keep a respectful distance from physically. That seems to be the what he would prefer, at least. I've enjoyed his character a lot, especially because he seems pretty clear-cut at first, but slowly lets the nuance of his person show (gruff and stoic, but then he has an eye for art, a sweet tooth and he likes cute animals). It's also very interesting that there's no moment when you learn "the truth" about him the way you do with Zevran or Leliana. There's no big reveal about his life under the Qun before coming to Ferelden. He says he was sent to monitor the Blight, but honestly? If neither Ferelden nor Orlais knew there was a Blight, how could the Qunari know? I think he's lying, and he takes his secrets back with him when he leaves Ferelden. And yet I think I know him enough to say that a Warden who has become friends with him has nothing to fear from Sten.

One thing I find very interesting about Sten is how he thinks. His conversation about how women can't be soldiers has been analysed a lot on this page I think. He seems to be arguing based on a different paradigma than the one the Warden has. He also seems to have a very clear-cut view of the world. What is fascinating to me is that, when arguing with the Warden and learning about their culture, he is not necessarily becoming more lax about his worldview. I think it's more likely that he is expanding his paradigma, the structure of thought through which he understands the world. I don't think that he is now convinced that women can be warriors as well. I think he rather understands that, in Ferelden, the relationship between occupation and gender is different than under the Qun. Which of the two he thinks is more right or more agreeable, I have no idea. I'm also not very interested in that. But I find it fascinating how he always seems to be looking on quietly, gathering data, classifying it and trying to fit it into his understanding of how the world works. I wouldn't be surprised at all if his original party was a scouting party to see how vulnerable Ferelden was at that moment to outside forces. One thing I don't understand with all of this is why he urges the Warden to meet the Blight head on. No smart soldier would suggest that, except if they are foolishly proud (and Sten doesn't seem like that kind of guy tbh). I get that the Warden takes way longer to gather allies than expected because they first have to solve all of their allies' problems. But surely Sten sees the need to have allies? Is he just that impatient? Does he have a death wish (à la, I lost my sword and am without honour, better to die sooner than later and in glorious battle)? Was he his group's previous commander and is he now having trouble following somebody else's orders? Or maybe it's his way to make sure the Warden knows what they are doing? To push them into becoming the self-assured commander their allies will need once they're all gathered? I really don't know. I like the last option best, however.

For me, Sten is my fellow, more experienced soldier. Like Alistair, he can potentially be the Warden's brother in arms, but he's definitely the older brother here. He probably doesn't take kindly to tearful confessions of how hard everything is, but I feel like he's otherwise a solid rock to lean on. I feel like the Warden can trust him to do what is necessary and count on him no matter what, especially after they get his sword back. His devotion from that point on is honestly so powerful.

Wynne:

Wynne was such a support for my Warden (except with the whole conversation about love vs. duty and that she may have to choose between Zevran and ending the Blight and that she should therefore break up with him. Wynne had a point. Astala was so not willing to sacrifice her relationship with Zevran. But the whole conversation came at a point where she was already so disillusioned that she blew up in Wynne's face (”can i please just have one (1) nice thing????”)). But all in all, Wynne is great.

She has a lot of flaws. She was very marked by her life in the Cricle and, for all her age, she has little experience living outside of it. She is also a conformist despite her strong moral core. In a way, her ability to find peace with her lot in life impresses me deeply because it speaks to a lot of strength of character. Sadly, however, strength can be ill applied and used to suppress. I think she has convinced herself that the Chantry is right under (almost) all circumstances to be able to rationalize the life that mages live. She's had her son taken away from her as a baby and an apprentice killed. Her reaction seems to have been to convince herself that this was right, or for the greater good (and now I'm thinking about the Guardian's question at the temple of Andraste's Ashes; are you wise or do you just repeat what others have told you? The answer is not as clear-cut as it might be). This is why she is so irritated by Zevran and Morrigan. By aligning herself with the Chantry, she is, in her eyes, good. Zevran and Morrigan are not; they do not conform to Chantry morality and they defend themselves tooth and nails against somebody who would try and convert them. This is something Wynne never allowed herself to do; she always did the "right" thing and it has cost her so much. I'm not saying she was right (it would probably have done her some good to rebel from time to time, and to trust her own gut instinct more), but in light of this, it hardly surprises me that she's so judgamental. She has to be, or she would be forced to confront all the evil she has not fought against all those years and all the hurt that has been caused to her by the very institution she protects (and thank God she only tries to argue and can appreciate it when people have found a good life outside of her comfort zone. If she tried to convince by force or, for example, drag her former apprentice back to the Circle... boy oh boy that would get ugly). If you think about it, Wynne really is a good example for what happens if you live by a philosophy of always choosing the lesser evil.

Something that I keep forgetting over her grandmotherly and dignified character is how damn powerful she is. She has escaped the carnage at Ostagar; HOW!? She protected those mage apprentices in the Circle tower for God knows how long. In the battle of Denerim, she wades through an army and comes out alive on the other side. The wiki lists her age at 40, I think, but that doesn't make a lick of sense unless 75 years of age are the Fereldan equivalent to 100. This lady, about whom people make grandmother jokes, did all that. It's impressive.

Zevran:

You know, I would really love to know what Wynne thinks about the events at Kirkwall in DA2. It might be a disaster for her, or it might pave the way for one last bit of character development. She certainly didn't want to return to the Circle after fighting the Blight. That may be an indicator of some change in her stance on the Circle of Magi.

Edit: I forgot that she is what the Circle considers a literal abomination! Holy cow, how could I forget that?? Anyway, her conversation about what being an abomination means is so... heartbreaking, actually. It's so tentative. So careful. "Am I an abomination? Am I the same thing that has killed my students? The same thing as Uldred? Am I lost and damned? Did I invite this spirit in? Is this my fault?" Like wow, Wynne is going through something huge right there. I love it. I have to continue playing the game to see what it ends up as, but it's fascinating and such a huge thing that she allows the Warden in on that.

Ah, Zevran, my beloved (he has stolen my heart so much it's not even funny anymore). He's funny, he's charming, he's so so loyal and it breaks my heart. Zevran is the one about whom I've read most meta: these three wonderful posts for instance, as well as this one about his possible lack of scars, and this one about his lack of freedom. All of these have influenced my opinion of him and they are great reads.

I have talked about Zevran with you before, so I'll just skip to the new stuff. I have come to conclusion that Zevran is an artist at heart. This is totally not biased by the fact that I also do art, but hear me out. One of his preferred gifts are bars of silver and gold. While those have the obvious utility of basically functioning as money (they can be sold to any silversmith or goldsmith and their value is pretty stable through time and in different countries), there's also this from his codex: "Zevran shows an affinity for the finer things in life—hardly surprising for an Antivan Crow—but his appreciation can be more poetic than he lets on. A simple bar of refined silver or gold, uncomplicated by a craftsman's hammer, is elegantly valuable." Tell me that is not an artist's eye that sees that gold and sees the beauty in it. Then, there's also the meta about Zevran the Seducer which I linked above and link here again. It talks specifically about how he lets himself enjoy the target and be seen in his enjoyment. Tell me that is not an artist's eye that beholds the beauty of something he is set out to destroy. Even his talk about his assassinations show this. He talks about it as an art, the way somebody would talk about the brutal intervention in stone that produces a sculpture. Yes, it's a rationalization of the act of killing and yes killing is still wrong. But he doesn't go on about it on a moral tangent the way Alistair or Wynne would (”this person was bad, killing them was necessary”) or even through the argument of survival like Morrigan would (”it was either them or me and it sure as Hell wasn't going to be me”). He talks about the pleasure of a job well done, of the satisfaction of striking the precise point and executing a plan to the perfection so as to minimize chances of discovery and to make a clean death possible. And pleasure in seeing and in doing, this I firmly believe, is absolutely fundamental for an artist.

My favourite part about my Warden and Zevran as a pairing is that Zevran precisely brings out that ability to take your pleasures as they come and to really savour them. Fighting the Blight is tough; it's so important to find good things amidst the chaos to stay sane. If Astala saves Zevran from himself by offering him a place to stay and a purpose, Zevran saves Astala from herself by keeping her from running herself into the ground trying to save the world.

There are some things I don't like about Zev. The incessant flirting, for example, sometimes makes me uncomfortable (it becomes enjoyable for me once the Warden and him are in a relationship, but before that? Nah, no thanks). I wish he would also leave the other female characters alone (and there's so many more shameless comments of his aimed at Morrigan, Leliana or Wynne than at Alistair or maybe even Sten).

Do you have any advice for ppl who’ve been in a reading slump since... 5 ever ? i love reading somehow it’s just harder to get into it these days :(

Omg for sure!! Here is a scrambled little list, I hope at least some of it helps:

📖 read in any format (ebook, physical book, audiobook) bc they’re all valid and make reading more accessible for people which is I think part of why ppl get hoity toity abt it. Ignore them. Also, I assume that if you wanna read, at least a large chunk of why is because you wanna have fun and consume stories yes? 😳 you can do that w/ any form of book, and any other reasons you might have to want to read, like expanding vocab or broadening ur horizons or learning to analyze books should be secondary. Focus on making it a fun and near-effortless/painless thing again and then u can graduate to those (I think that’ll come naturally tbh as long as you read semi-consistently) Fun comes First and I say that as a terrible English major 😗

📖 And with that in mind, read whatever you want, even if it’s simple or cringe or a reread or whatever because after completing the first few impulsive reads that you find engaging enough to finish completely, you can worry about reading what you think you “should” or what would benefit you specifically if that makes sense. Like I’m completely pro reading new things and not limiting urself to 1 genre but there’s no harm in taking your time moving onto things that don’t immediately pique ur interest. Get into the groove of things first, the criticism of ppl who are well past the target age market for YA but still exclusively consume it doesn’t apply to people who are trying to rediscover their love of reading imo.

📖 keep books nearby all the time! (All!!! The time!!!!) You might not actually read them 45/50 times that you bring them with you to places/keep them near you wherever u spend time at your house, but those 5 times will be bliss and you’ll thank yourself! Do it! Especially if ur open to ebooks and can read them on ur phone!

📖 put your phone somewhere far away on mute and force yourself to read for a specific chunk of pages or time. Very old person-ish advice but like. They’re onto smth when they tell us to do stuff like that, but they’re also way too smug and holier-than-thou about it so no need to tell any of them that! 🤫 but seriously be honest w/ urself if u have a compulsive notification checking problem and challenge yourself to overcome it long enough to meet a very small teensy tiny goal 🥅

📖 I juggle a lot of books at once and I’m constantly planning ahead in my brain when I do it, without consciously meaning to (library deadlines for digitized books are so strict 💔) And often I don’t end up following these plans perfectly, because following them perfectly isn’t the point, especially since life happens all the time and isn’t often very receptive when we wish we could forget everything and read for several straight hours. Reading shouldn’t be a burden, but the vague guidelines help. I think stuff like “tomorrow I’ll finish this poetry collection before bed” or “I’m gonna study and then read 2 chapters of this novel I’m rlly digging as a treat before continuing,” “I’m gonna listen to 4 chapters of this audiobook while I take a walk or do chores” etc etc. and usually I end up reading at least a little! And the best thing is when I read more than intended because the book is just that fun. I don’t write these plans down, but if it helps you to do so I urge you to anon :0 !! Just remember ur writing them on paper/a screen and not in stone, so you can always be flexible and change things around and you’re not by any means a failure for doing so. To be flexible w/ urself is most likely to ensure long term progress imo!

📖 speaking of juggling it’s absolutely fine to cycle through a ton of books and sometimes abandon them for months and come back when the whim strikes! If your memory is good enough and you prefer having a bunch of variety at all times, jump from book to book with reckless abandon! It legit doesn’t matter. Also don’t ever hesitate to drop a book if you’re not vibing it’s not worth it. Time is precious life is precious you’re doing this for fun, yes? Drop the book if you can’t bring yourself to care theres sooooo many more where it came from! Be merciless and picky!! It will pay off I promise, and to be that way is not antithetical to challenging yourself or stepping outside of your comfort zone unless you make it that way.

📖 buddy read/have an impromptu book club w/ someone. It doesn’t have to be official, and I’ve done this multiple times with people and sometimes we just don’t finish the book/meet our set goals and that’s a-okay! It’s still worth it to have someone to talk abt the book w/ and you guys can always pick up where you left off or try another book. Literally no stakes at all as long as everyone involved is chill and understanding <3

📖 set a reading goal you think you can manage by the end of the year! You might surprise yourself 😳 and if you don’t oh well! You’ll still have read at least a page in pursuit of said goal 🔎

📖 read short stories! The internet is full of them, and short story collections by multiple and singular authors are everywhere 📚

📖 do some searching and make a list of books that you’re extremely excited to read or really wanna revisit. And then pick your next reads from there! If you want recs for books or short stories you can always shoot me another ask or look at my goodreads (or goodreads in general)

but that didn’t matter anymore, mikey was arriving home soon and you snuck around to grab some things around the house. a rope (thank you high sanzu for complying and ordering one), a ball gag, a small paddle that shouldn’t hurt too much, and a blindfold. all things you ordered off the internet after studying in secret for weeks.

“i’m sorry.” you voice strained, scared that you fucked up this last time with sanzu and he was tired of it. “it’s fine, it’s fine. i’m the one who scared you. sooo... whatcha sneakin’ about for?” he grinned, leaning closer to your face. his eyes felt like he could see your lies before you’d come up with one, so you just told the truth.... parts of it at least. “i didn’t want to wake you and i got ordered stuff that i wanted to use online and i was gonna go get it!”

sanzu’s face that was inches apart from yours leaned away, he smiled politely before trotting back to the couch. “all good, just wanted to make sure boss’ partner wasn’t meetin’ other gang members. y’know?” his body practically melted into the couch, eyes flicking between you and the t.v before getting comfortable. “you know i would never, sanzu!” you grinned, he shrugged, eyes already half-lidded.

yup, he was about as stable as a dizzy ram for a few minutes there. you sighed and marched your way to outside where two small boxes were stacked above a bigger box. those were all toys- anal beads, a small paddle, dildos. you name it, you ordered it. you could already fantasize it- mikey under your touch, tied to a chair with every. single. part of him.... exposed. your body felt a shock through it, biting your lip to remain calm but it was hard for your ideas to settle.

Streamer!Scaramouche AU

i feel like he’d be one of the biggest streamers on his platform- probably one of those that everyone has heard of even if they’re not into watching livestreams and all

but between those who do know who he is, they either love him or hate him. no in-between

it’s kind of understandable because his attitude is not suited/can be handled by anyone

he’s brutally honest even when his opinion may be seen as rude (to him he’s just saying the truth so he doesn’t mind if people get offended)

of course he doesn’t try to be rude on purpose but i mean it as in he’ll say what he thinks

imagine he’s playing a game and he doesn’t like a certain mechanic, or he isn’t enjoying the story;

he won’t say the game is bad but he’ll openly say he doesn’t like it/it’s not for him. it makes him seem strict but tbh he’s not that hard to please and even when he complains about one or two things he still enjoys the game

he usually gives every game a chance even when from what he’s seen it doesn’t sound like a game he’ll like. if he turns out to be right he just won’t play it again and if he’s wrong he’s a little too prideful to admit he spoke a little too fast but in the end he will admit the game is good or he’s having fun

probably the kind that just knows so much about all games and all the creators and all the game-making engines and is up to date with every single news of everything video-game + streaming-related,,, how does he do it, i don’t know,,,,

and also since he’s so popular he probably gets packages from game developers with limited edition stuff or merch from different games soooo often

and he placed the ones from his favorite games in his setup room and it looks INCREDIBLE he has so much stuff

he did a room tour stream once talking about all he has, where he got everything, from his monitor to every complement of his computer and like,,,,, the cost of his setup,,,,,,, some people already know they’ll never be able to afford that in their entire life

and he already had a great setup before he even became big as a streamer so people can already guess he’s fairly rich

also i feel like he would have started his career as a streamer without using a facecam and even like that, he already managed to get very popular because of his professional commentary of game dynamics/playability + you can tell that he’s passionate about this and also he’s very funny without even trying??

he says some stuff so casually that he doesn’t realise how funny it is

probs showed his face after he hit a very important milestone

he never considered showing his face that important but he understood why people would want to see his reactions when playing games (even tho he warned them he’s not the most expressive/dramatique person in the world and they know by now) and would want to put a face to the person who entertains them so much with his streams

and when he does show his face people go absolutely cRAZY BECAUSE he is crazy good looking (if you don’t think he’s good looking i’m sorry for your eyesight. jk i’m sorry in general i just really love him)

some people who didn’t watch his streams will even check them out because of that but literally if you come for the visuals only you won’t stay for long because as i said not anyone can handle his personality

if he sees people being superficial about him too much instead of paying attention to what’s happening in the stream, he will immediately turn the subs mode on in the chat (if he didn’t have it on already)

being rude, being disrespectful/saying discriminating stuff or anything of that sort won’t be tolerated and anyone who does it will be banned instantly

without even interrupting what he was saying before he saw the comment, he’ll just type the ban to whoever said that and go on

and his mods do the exact same. they are just as strict as him

if it ever got too much of course he wouldn’t be afraid to speak up about it and tell his chat to stop that behaviour or else, as they should already know, he won’t be afraid of banning them even if they’ve been subscribed for months or years

why do i feel like he has a super organised chat— as in instead of spamming 5 emotes per comment they all send just one and it looks so tidy and perfect

literally other streamers would be jealous of how not-messy his chat is even when he has thousands and thousands and thousands of viewers all the time

also i have this idea that maybe any of his fans would have designed him as a genshin character (which would be the design of the scaramouche we know (?))

and the little pop-ups (i don’t know the name in english rIP) thingies that show up to notify when someone subscribed or donated would be lil chibi art of that design

it’d be really cool

and since i also doodled what a stream of his could look like (i’ll show it in the future when i’m done!!) i thought that way it’d be more recognisable that the streamer is scaramouche

99% of the people who have seen him irl found him too intimidating to go ask him for a picture or tell him anything

he’s not a huge fan of taking pictures anyway + is more on the introverted/reserved side but he wouldn’t mind if someone went up to him (if he’s not busy with something) to tell him something or say they enjoy his streams

i feel like in a couple occasions he would have played a game with some subscribers and he’d like to tease them speaking with his usual tone and face (in case they’re watching the stream as they talk) so they think he’s serious

he’ll pretend to sound disappointed but at one point he just can’t help but smirk and hold in a chuckle before telling them he’s not serious

(he literally doesn’t know how the hell he survived that stream himself because he isn’t one to stream for that long)

i feel like deep inside people who know him would know he wouldn’t say such things seriously/wouldn’t be disappointed in anyone for not watching every single minute of his streams or not even all his streams

but he says all that so seriously that it’s,,, intimidating and they’re lowkey like “god but what if he’s not joking-”

he’d play games with the other streamers sometimes but i feel like most of the type he’d play more single-player games

it’d be so funny if he plays among us with others and for example one of those others it’s childe

both of them would always be suspecting of the other first/bickering, especially scaramouche

and if one game turns out they’re both the impostors… people would know right away

like, if any of them tried to defend the other, everyone else would be like “!?! what is this? scaramouche and childe defending each other? scary”

they’d vote one of them (maybe scaramouche) out because they started guessing + saying proof of how both of them could be the impostors (but the biggest proof is them not coming for each other’s throats sNKJFNGKJS)

scaramouche would have to resist the urge to S C R E A M

needless to say he doesn’t like when he has to be impostor with childe

and unfortunately for him, fate makes it happen considerably often

i feel like at least one time scaramouche would kill next to childe and then report it and literally blame childe

and childe would be like ?!?!?!?!?? WHAT- NO- (struggles bc his brain instinct is to say ‘it was you!’ but they’re both the impostors??? how-)

and then they’d eject childe,,, and then people wouldn’t suspect of scaramouche for most of the game because ? why would he- blame his partner---

well he did it with no regrets and at the end when they all found out they found it very funny (except for childe, but even he ended up laughing in the end because what a mean strategy sjkfhdsgkj)

i have this feeling that even though they bicker so much and for any strangers it’d seem like they hate each other, when scaramouche does play online games, many times it’d be with childe?

ik they aren’t supposed to get along but for the sake of it being a modern au i don’t want bad vibes between any of the characters pls-

and everyone enjoys their dynamic and those streams always get a ton of viewers sjfhdsgkj and i’m sure both their chats would be good friends (most likely one’s fans would also be a fan of the other too)

very very very rarely (because he prefers just playing and talking while playing) he’d do streams where he doesn’t play anything but just talks with the chat, watches videos that they send him, looks at the fanart they make, just talks about games,,,,

it’d be super chill and the perfect streams for people to be doing homework/work/play games/draw or do basically anything while they listen to his stream in the background

he’d also be answering some of people’s questions about him or about his favorite games, or if he’s playing this new game that came out earlier this week,,,

“will you play ‘it takes two’ with childe?” -someone in the chat

“absolutely not. i won’t play a co-op game with him”

not even 5 days later, tweet from childe saying “streaming in 30 minutes! Scaramouche and I will be playing It Takes Two on my ch---”

anyways this will be all!! (for now?) i obviously knew genshin before this but, yesterday i could finally start playing it myself! so i feel like if not now, soon i will also write headcanons of him playing genshin! i don’t take requests but if you guys have any ideas or anything you want to say about this AU, send me an ask!! i’d love to talk about this and about genshin in general!

what are your top 5 favourite winterhawk tropes?

okay, so i don't believe in favorites, but i appreciate that you asked for more than one so I can just list a bunch of things i love about these two. idk that they're all tropes, per se, but at the very least they're themes and patterns that you'll know when you read them:

- Clint being a very breakable human and Bucky being a very grumpy fixer of bumps and bruises

- Clint finding Bucky's retreat-from-the-team/hiding spot early on because their similar traumas have led them to cope in the same way, i.e. fleeing to the roof

- Clint being better than Bucky at shooting/target practice and Bucky being super into it. Alternatively Bucky being the only one who can beat Clint at one (1) specific type of ranged attack, and Clint finding that he's not bothered by that for the first time ever.

- lucky and alpine. for obvious reasons. but also especially because they help soften Bucky and make Clint even more relatable than he already is.

- the fact that both Clint and Bucky are canon disabled and that even if they don't know immediately how the other wants their disability to be treated (don't touch the arm, revere the arm, pretend the arm is totally normal, etc) they do immediately recognize that the other is entitled to choose how other people interact with/treat their disability, so they give each other the space they deserve. Because tbh that's just how people should treat each other irl, so *shrug*

- Bucky knowing and/or learning ASL -- bonus points if he starts to learn before Clint realizes he's interested in him.

- the goddamn platonic side pairings, holy shit, no kidding, i think half of why i love winterhawk so much is because it often brings out the best in nat and clint's relationship as well as steve and bucky's. Maybe because winterhawk so frequently focuses on individual growth, so it fosters more authentic feeling friendships? The caring sibling vibes are strong here and I'm just *squeezes fists in frustrated joy* so in love with it.

- the growing trans, ace and nonbinary representation -- idk why or how this ship has managed to attract so many incredible authors who headcanon Clint (and sometimes Bucky) in these ways, but damn do they do a good job and shoooot, am I grateful for them.

- just how much freaking fun this pairing can be. Clint's such a funny character on his own, and he can be written as thirsty, self-deprecating, super dry, the team's class clown, or dangerously witty. i love all versions, especially when he startles humor out of Bucky.

- I wrote a line recently about how Clint brings out the best in Bucky, and I really believe that, and that it's a reciprocal street. I think that a lot of us write fic to bring our most bruised boys and damaged dudes the happiness they deserve and I genuinely feel that this pairing provides that. It pulls dumpster!Clint out of his depression as Bucky force feeds him affection and helps him find his own intrinsic value, and it juxtaposes the most human of all humans alongside Bucky as he struggles to find his own humanity, which invariably helps him realize that he never really lost that humanity to begin with, or at the very least, that Clint will be around to help him remember and redefine what that means for who he is now.

- omg and i almost forgot -- the found families that these two make. Obviously with nat and steve but holy shit, throw the Maximoffs in there??? OC kids??? accidental child acquisition??? honorary uncle duty??? a de-aged team and a bucky who remembers taking care of becca and so is surprisingly good with children?? GOD it's so good, especially Clint trying to do right by kids because his own experiences have shown him how not to parent/uncle/adult around kids.

Hi! I was reading a fanfic and it brought up Roy and Dick's fight, which I see a lot of in fics but never what they fought about and consequently why they don't talk. I thought it was a vague excuse/reason why Roy was Jason's friend not Dick's anymore but this fic brought up when Dick was batman so I was wondering if there was actually a fight between them? Btw I really enjoy your metas! They're v thought out and well articulated. Also it's v easy to separate what's your opinion and what's fact which is. Very helpful for me

Yeah this is one hundred percent a fanon thing that's kept deliberately vague to justify why Roy in his friendship with Jason seems to have no positive thoughts or concerns about Dick whatsoever. Now granted, Dick and Roy are not nearly as close in the New 52 as they were pre-Reboot. The lack of their friendship there is definitely one of the things I disliked most about the Reboot - and I actually don't care if Jason and Roy are friends tbh, its the total erasure of his history with Dick as if he can't be friends with both, that like, bugs most.

But so like, yeah, Roy and Dick aren't super close when they interact on the Titans in the New 52, but there's literally nothing in any of their interactions that explains the complete absence of him from Roy's life or a reason that Roy would like, hate him the way he tends to in a lot of Jason-centric fics.

When you factor in pre-Reboot stuff though, it starts to get a LOT more.....uh wyd? And this is why I have trouble buying that people just write Roy and Jason the way they do because its the only thing they know from recent comics. Like one, most fans talk about how they don't even read the source comics, so there's no reason their knowledge of the characters or events would be limited to just recent comics if they're going off wiki summaries and scans anyway. And second, most fans AREN'T limited in their knowledge to just recent comics.

Like, the second people start writing Roy and Jason and Kori but with their pre-52 characterizations and references to events from THAT timeline, it all gets very messy, the way they're like, completely antagonistic towards Dick a lot of the time. Because Roy and Dick were always solid. Yes, they fought. A lot. But they always, ALWAYS made up afterwards. They had conflict about Roy's drug addiction - it didn't stop Dick from being there to support him through rehab, or Dick being the first person Roy called to help him get Lian after he learned of her existence. Dick literally held Lian before Roy ever did? He's the one who first put her in Roy's arms for the first time.

(Which is the prime grudge I and most Dick Grayson fans have about Roy and Jason fics which make Jason like, the absolute apple of Lian's eye. If you want to expand Lian's circle of loved and trusted ones to include Jason as Roy's friend and thus her uncle, like go for it! But there's zero reason that should require invalidating and erasing the fact that Dick was this little girl's adored godfather and uncle for pretty much her entire life. And the way Dick is just shoved offstage from Lian's life entirely, to slot Jason into his place as though they're completely interchangeable, its like....THAT'S the kind of thing that gets people irey about how Jason 'steals' Dick's dynamics and character relationships.

Because there's nothing saying they both can't be major players in Roy and Lian's lives! But just that they're not interchangeable! You need to develop the specific role Jason plays there WITHOUT just overwriting everything Dick actually did in relation to the two of them pre-Flashpoint, which is what you're drawing from the second you write Lian, unless you're specifically going with the few appearances we've had of her within literally just the last year.

But I mean, when people just search and replace Dick Grayson in all Roy and Lian's pre-Reboot stories and act like Jason was the one doing all of that instead.....why wouldn't fans of the source material be annoyed by a character getting credit for interactions and things done for Lian and Roy that Jason literally NEVER DID, while at the EXACT SAME TIME, conjuring some mysterious, unnamed 'Falling Out' that Roy and Dick had, that was clearly all Dick's fault, and resulted from him being basically excised entirely from Roy and Lian's lives?

Same with Kori, for the record, and like despite being Dick's ex, she and Dick have NEVER been like, estranged? She and Dick have often been close even after their breakup. None of it makes any sense, and the fact that a lot of fans don't even try to make it make sense or justify it, and expect other fans to just be fine with settling for an inexplicable reversal of Dick's every actual dynamic with these characters while setting up Jason to occupy the exact same role Dick played in these other characters' lives, like.....lol. Its fun.)

Anyway, back to your question, like, there are fights you can go with pre-Reboot as the source of various conflicts between Dick and Roy - but again, I maintain its just as crucial that they're always written as getting past them. They have a very tempestuous relationship because they are the two people MOST likely to call each other on their shit, two of the two people WITH the most shit in common due to the parallels in their childhoods and the roles they've occupied in the Titans and the superhero community in general, and the two people most resistant to being called out on their shit by each other, lol. Mostly in that case because like, they do recognize that they have a lot in common and understand each other very well, so the second the other is calling them out for something, they're usually like "ugh, if HE'S saying this, its probably true and I am just not prepared yet to be wrong about this. I need more time being unjustifiably rawr about things." Its like that thing where they both look at each other doing something that feels familiar or calls back to their own reasons for doing something and they're like ugh I'm in this picture and I don't like it.

So they clash. A lot. But always with the implicit bedrock of like, there's nothing either of them can do or say to the other that will push the other away for good.

They fought over Roy replacing Dick as leader of the Titans when Dick's wedding fell apart, even though Roy actually didn't want to do it and was kinda pushed into it by the government, but again, Dick like, got over it and realized it was for the best and forgave Roy for it that very same issue. And on and on. It always went like that. So there's plenty of stuff that can be used or pointed at as a source of conflict between the two, but the part I'll always call unbelievable is the idea that they never make up after one of these fights. Why now? What fight, specifically, is so bad between them that despite everything else they've gone through AND gotten past, they can't get past this one? Y'know?

So yeah, that's my take on this. There is no definitive falling out between Dick and Roy as many fics like to point to in order to shove him offscreen and make room for Jason in Roy and Lian's lives, and personally, I just don't find it necessary and I actually think it makes Roy look REALLY bad. Because when you're not specifically detailing all the things that Dick has actually DONE for Roy, the lengths to which he's been there for his friend, and like, specifically invalidating each and every one of them as something that never happened in a particular fic, then literally anyone who reads that fic and has their own awareness of Dick and Roy's friendship is kiiiiiinda likely to be reading that and thinking wow what an ungrateful asshole, when Roy's just written as bitching about Dick with Jason and sandbagging him without any real explanation as to WHY, beyond just 'oh they had a fight years ago.'

(And coming up with some random awful thing that Dick did to justify Roy hating him now isn't like, a superior alternative, lmao, because again, its still just trashing one character for the sake of getting him out of the way of two other characters' friendship and people are going to think what they think about that).

Anyway, my now standard stock disclaimer that like, there doesn't actually need to be a canon fight obviously, for people to just write things this way and handwave that Dick and Roy had an epic falling out years ago and now they just hate one another or whatever, or just Roy hates him or vice versa. Obviously people are free to do what they want. They don't need a reason other than "I want to write it this way so Jason and Roy are friends and Jason doesn't have to 'share' him with Dick or have his friendship be overshadowed by their greater history together." That just happens to be a reason that no Dick Grayson fan is ever really going to be happy about, lol, for what should be perfectly obvious reasons, so it honestly shouldn't be surprising to people that fans of the source material often gripe about it.

Because yeah fanfic is a tremendous opportunity to transform the source material into something better, but if what's better for some fans actively takes away what was working perfectly well for other fans the original way, they're going to say that. Especially in a fandom where so many new fans take their view of the characters and their dynamics from fics rather than the source material - when fandom has that much of an influence on what new fans perceive to be 'canon,' fans are perfectly within their right to emphasize what is ACTUALLY canon and what isn't, so that new fans at least have the opportunity to determine for themselves what take they want to go with, instead of just accepting at face value that the nature of say, Dick and Roy's relationship is just that Roy hates Dick because of some mumble mumble ancient history vague mumble details not found mumble mumble fight.

TMBS Book 1 Brain Dump

~An Embarrassingly Long Post~

I don’t know why I’m writing this or why I’m so determined to do it. Maybe to finally assume my true form and become a mega dork on main, or maybe just for fun!

This is basically a compilation of all the main points running through my head after reading The Mysterious Benedict Society (2007) for the first time. Rather than posting a ton and spamming the tag, everything’s here in one neat package! (hopefully this gets it all out of my system rip)

The Book Itself

Upon acquiring the first three books (don’t judge me pls), I was surprised at just how long they are. Like, they’re still pretty light being paperbacks and all, but these books are hefty lads.

The first book has this Disney+ Original Series circle thing printed on it, which is kind of unfortunate. Regardless, I love the cover illustration and yellow is actually my favorite color :D It made me weirdly quite happy whenever I saw the book lying around in my room

Also, it’s really cute how there’s a letter from Mr. Benedict at the end! (It only reveals that you can find out his first name if you “know the code”, meaning the bit of Morse printed below the summary on the back.) Shock and horror, though, as I realized I’m starting to recognize some of the letters

The Book Itself, for real this time

It’s wonderful how the tone of the book really shone through to the show adaptation. Something about the deliberateness of the aesthetic, from the set designs to the fashion to scene compositions, that really sells that particular style— like it’s very clear that this story is being told to us, rather than one we’re seeing unfold, if that makes sense.

Where that narration style stood out to me the most was the first chapter. We are told (rather than shown) how Reynie gets himself to the point of the second test, and there’s this whole twisty time maneuver for that whole sequence of events that’s really interesting

A super secret fun fact about me is that I wanted to be a writer when I was younger! So this particular balance of show vs. tell is really neat, since it runs counter to my own tendencies. The sheer amount of commas in every sentence is also kind of comforting, since Ahah, I Do That in those few serious-ish attempts at writing lol

Overall this book’s style reminds me a lot of Roald Dahl’s books, which are very nostalgic for me :D The whole “kids are more competent than adults” angle helps a lot too haha

The Characters

Oh boy here’s where I get a little bit critical! Overall I did really like this book!! it’s just that that expresses itself in all this weird “”analysis”” lol

Reynie - much better in the books than in the show

It’s sort of a lukewarm take but I feel like show!Reynie is kind of boring? He doesn’t have a lot going on flaw-wise, and obviously since he’s the protagonist he can’t have too many weird traits or else the kids watching can’t project themselves onto him as easily

(I call it the difference between an aspirational protagonist and a vessel protagonist. Going off of the Roald Dahl vibes, think Matilda vs Charlie. show!Reynie is more of a Charlie)

Thus when we get to see him really struggle with the Whisperer and doubt himself it gives him a lot more dimension, at least in my opinion

It is a federal crime that the white knight scenes were not adapted into the show

Sticky - my son

I’ve long held to no one besides myself and my long suffering sister that Sticky is The Best Member of the Society

He happened to hit a lot of the Bingo squares of Stuff I Like In Characters: glasses, anxious, nice :), kind of a coward but ultimately is there for his friends, etc

For some reason I don’t talk about him nearly as much as you-know-who, but I love him just as dearly

Kate & Constance - I don’t have much to say

Kate is really interesting in this book! I like how we get to see more of her depths, in particular that one passage about her belief that she is invincible being the only thing that keeps her from falling apart? :c

Also her constant fidgeting is relatable lol

Constance is somehow a lot more tolerable in the book. I think I’m just one of those people with no patience for small children, unfortunately lol

(Some of) The Adults

It’s interesting that they had such an offscreen presence for most of the book. Giving them more time was probably one of the stronger changes of the show

However if that decision was made at the expense of the white knight scenes I think the choice should have been clear

I like the way Rhonda and Number Two are written

Milligan always on sad boy hours 😔✊

The “mill again” passage is touching but kind of messes up the pacing of the getaway, at least for me. Maybe I should read it again to make sure I didn’t miss something

Miss Perumal is much better in the show. We see so little of her in the book she doesn’t function well as an emotional anchor for Reynie, imo

The Institute Gang

Jackson and Jillson serve their purpose well, and Martina was surprising to say the least. I like the direction they took her in the show! I can’t imagine how funny it must have been to watch the tetherball subplot come out of nowhere lolol

These sections were written out of sequence, so random tidbit I couldn’t fit in The S.Q. Section: I like how he stumbles over his words. relatable

Mr. Curtain

While I think I know why they decided to not give Curtain the wheelchair in the show, we were totally robbed of Actor Tony Hale’s performance for the reveal during the final confrontation

Speaking of the wheelchair, it’s such a powerful symbol of his need for control or rather, his fear of losing it

The Contrast between him and Mr. Benedict. This point is expanded on in A Funny Parallel

Mr. Benedict

Oh boy, Mr. Benedict… How do I say this

I find it hard to trust Mr. Benedict, unfortunately

I mean to say, I do in the sense that I know he would never hurt the kids, thanks to knowing that a) this is a children’s book series and b) the meta (tumblr) states that he is really nice and lovable and stuff, but seriously. Why do the kids trust him at first?? I probably missed something somewhere

I like to think I’m an optimistic person, but unfortunately I’m also super paranoid. The premise of “a bunch of vulnerable orphans team up with a strange old man” is just so odd to me I don’t know how to explain it

I don’t know!!! I really want to trust Mr. Benedict

One of the strengths of the show is that we get to see him more often, and thus he gets to acknowledge more often that the plan is weird and that he feels really badly for putting the kids in danger and that he’s trustworthy and genuine

But his lack of presence for most of the book just makes him into something of a specter, invisible and unknowable, speaking only in riddles from across the bay

Which is why the white knight scene is so important!! I loved that scene ;-;

Because here’s an actual emotional connection! We can actually see it happening, rather than only being told that it exists

Reynie asking for advice and receiving encouragement, in words that demonstrate that Mr. Benedict actually cares about him and worries about him and agghh

But overall this whole issue didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book at all! It’s just ->

A Funny Parallel

Okay, ready for my biggest brain, hottest take ever??

Mr. Benedict and Mr. Curtain…. are… the same

I mean obviously not entirely, given that one is benevolent and kind and the other is… Mr. Curtain

But seriously. Genius old man seeks out children (mainly orphans) to enact a plan. Said children often end up incredibly devoted to his cause and deeply admire him this is a little flimsy

Undoubtedly that’s intentional and is supposed to show the difference between them, like some kind of cautionary tale? “Let yourself be vulnerable and let others help you, lest you turn eeeeviiillll”

I guess that’s where the aforementioned epic contrast comes in. You get Mr. Curtain, strapped into his wheelchair and hiding behind those mirrored sunglasses, terrified (but unwilling to admit it) of ever showing the tiniest hint of vulnerability, vs. Mr. Benedict, who can let himself fall knowing that someone will catch him :’)

Anyhow I have nothing against the parallels, I just think it’s funny

The S.Q. Section

I’d like to meet the emo angstlord genius who read this book and decided to make SQ into Dr. Curtain’s son. What in the world

Okay I should probably preface this by saying that I absolutely adore both book!S.Q. and show!SQ with all my heart. Somehow, despite being a completely different character in both mediums, he has managed to be one of the best characters in either and certainly one of my favorites (besides Sticky of course) in the entire franchise, despite the fact that I’ve only read the first book/watched the show so far. I am confident in this statement.

But seriously! How?? Why?? I could probably write a whole other essay about why show!SQ is such an interesting character, and the change works so incredibly well. I’m just. Baffled

Okay, focus. book!S.Q. is such a sweetheart, oh my goodness. Like, 100% one of the most endearing characters in the book. Poor guy. I don’t even know where to start!!

He just seems to be a genuinely good guy at heart, despite being technically one of the bad guys. He’s genuinely happy for Reynie and Sticky when they became Messengers and helped Kate when she “fell” and was concerned about Constance when she looked sick and how he was in that meeting with Mr. Curtain and Martina?!!? aaahhhhghgh ;-; he just wants people to be happy TT-TT

Comparing him against literally every character at the Institute is probably what makes him so endearing tbh. When everyone else is so awful to the kids, it really makes him stand out. Like a cheerful little nightlight in the worst, most humid and rank bathroom you’ve ever been in

It’s kind of pointless to theorize about a book series that’s already concluded (I think?) but. Is the implication of S.Q.’s forgetfulness supposed to be that Mr. Curtain used him in brainsweeping experiments somehow? The timeline probably definitely absolutely doesn’t line up but like. How did he get to being a Messenger being the way he is now, given how cutthroat the process is? And then of course Mr. Curtain keeps him around as an Executive because he’s fun to mess with and presumably his loyalty. I’m very curious as to how their relationship develops in the other books, if at all. Those are probably where the seeds of the “let’s make them family” logic were planted

But wouldn’t it be hilarious if the reason we don’t know what “S.Q.” stands for in the books is that he just. Forgot

Another thing that occurred to me. Given that he and the other Executives were Messengers at some point, what were their worst fears? What is S.Q.’s worst fear?? Inquiring minds need to know

One last horrible little anecdote: I was thinking about book!S.Q. while eating breakfast, as one does, and suddenly it hit me.

I want to believe The Author Trenton Lee Stewart had the name for a character, S.Q. Pedalian, and was like, “Hm! What sort of quirky trait should this young fellow have?” Because, of course, in this style of fiction every character has to have at least one cartoonish or otherwise distinguishing trait to stand out in the minds of children. (For instance, Kate has her bucket, Sticky has his glasses, Constance is angry, and Reynie is Emmett from the Lego Movie)

Anyhow, he looks around the room, searching for inspiration. Suddenly he comes across a jumbo box of plastic wrap. Completely innocuous in design, save for one line of text. 300 SQ FT.

Okay so I’ve seen a lot of conflicting responses to Buddie this episode, from it being clear to people that they’re getting together, to thinking the writers have unintentionally messed things up to thinking it’s purely queerbait.

And I get the different responses, I do - tbh I’m somehow in two camps, where I simultaneously believe it’s a slowburn but I also think it’s bait. And those are two very different opinions to have and it got me thinking about why we have these different responses as fans to the possibility of a queer ship (namely two men who would presumably be bi/pan) being canon.

While people talk about how it’s just people wanting two characters to kiss or entitled fans - sure, that’s existent in every fandom, but I think there’s also a very real fear from queer fans who don’t want to get their hopes up and I d on’t love how the conversation has shifted to calling queer fans stupid for having hope, so I kind of wanted to break it down into 3 aspects that I’ve noticed:

How writers portray bi characters and why that makes fans hesitant to have hope

What queerbait actually means as a concept

How much “slowburn” has changed in procedurals

1. How writers portray bi characters

Something I’ve thought about a lot are the bi characters I’ve seen on TV - Darryl (CEG), Sara Lance (Arrow), Lucifer (Lucifer), just to name a few. These are great characters imo and I think you’d have a fun time watching but a thing to note is that all these characters were established as bi within the first season of their respective shows and they all fairly quickly fell into a clear romantic ship as well (with the exception of Sara as she spanned multiple shows). It may have taken time for them to say the word bisexual, but it was still clear these characters were queer fairly quickly on. You could maybe argue that Lucifer was a slowburn, but then (while it does not take away from him being bi/pan so do not use this as an excuse to be shitty about him) it’s a m/f ship which is still not the point of my post, to find a m/m or f/f ship that has that same treatment.

Some writers have done it - like for Valencia in CEG, or Petra in JTV - when they saw that fans read them this way, but trying to find those characters were few and far between, and when I looked at popular queerbait ships (whether or not they actually are queerbait) it’s usually ships where the characters are largely viewed as bisexual. A lot of times this also comes with pushback from both straight and to be frank, other queer fans as well. Straight fans don’t always see the signs that queer fans do, so to them a queer character who hasn’t been explicitly clear from the start comes out of nowhere. And what I’ve seen from certain queer fans are concerns that people aren’t appreciating the canon queer characters in a show - and I think there is a conversation to be had about that, but I don’t think the response should also be about then demanding less representation for people either.

If we go back to 911, people talk a lot about how it has canon queer characters, which it definitely does - Michael, Hen, Josh, Karen, and David are all canonically gay/lesbian and that’s awesome, and we absolutely should talk about fans (white fans in particular) ignoring these characters. It also does not change the fact that none of these characters are bisexual and that is the representation people are looking for. Both of these things are true - these characters are often under appreciated in canon AND people deserve bisexual representation. They don’t contradict each other and to act like one negates the other does a huge disservice.

And even if a character was made bisexual in the canon text we don’t get that slowburn. This may be true for things like Leverage, or LOK, but there’s also a real fact of censorship that affected these shows and the fact that general audiences may not understand the queer text tjat the writers intended. It doesn’t make the writing any less wonderful or the ships any less poignant or beautiful or important, and there’s ofc shows like She Ra that made this more obvious (or the.....mess that was Supernatural that made it. Half true?) but these are still real things that should be acknowledged on why people are so hesitant to call it slowburn - because it’s something most queer fans haven’t SEEN DONE, because m/f ships will get that care for slowburn when it’s done but it’s not done for m/m or f/f ships in that same capacity.

2. What queerbait is

This one’s fun because I don’t think many people understand what it is, but queerbait is very dependent on the intentions of the writers/creators/etc. - which tbh can be hard to gauge, because a genuine intention that ended up not happening or someone baiting fans or someone trying to support all ships and not be rude all have very different intentions but to a fan who only sees bits and pieces of this person on social media, it can be hard to gauge.

Honestly with how much the 4th wall gets broken because of social media now I’d personally say we’ve probably moved into a different definition of queerbait - unintentional vs intentional - because we’re at a point where a show knows what ships are popular and at what level of excitement fans are for it - but that being said, there’s still a clear spectrum of intent. And imo? I don’t think 911 has that intent of queerbait - whether it’s a slowburn or they have a different vision for buddie that I (probably) won’t agree with remains to be seen, but this show usually treats its storylines with care. Are they perfect at it? No, definitely not, I definitely think that they’ve dropped the ball a few times (especially with just how many characters they have lmao), but they also clearly do their storylines with earnest and with genuine care for these characters.

Is 911 getting them together? I want to say yes. I don’t think this was always the plan, just something that they decided along the way, but I also don’t think that changes anything about the ship. A lot of people point to Tim Minear being vague about the ship, or the actors and their interpretations, but 1. We have no idea what they’ve been told about Buddie moving forward and 2. No show runner is going to spoil their show that much. 911 may be keeping quiet because they have a different plan for buddie, sure, but also maybe because they’re still figuring out how exactly they want to do this and/or they want to make this slowburn and don’t want to give it away.

3. Slowburn in procedurals

I feel like this is something that procedurals have started shying away from, but slowburns used to be very common - Bones, Castle, their ships didn’t get together for literal years, but that’s just not something that many shows do nowadays, even for m/f ships. Even things like Deckerstar will have the characters get together after ~3 seasons and explore the relationship onwards, whereas a few years ago, y ou’d pr obably be watching a sh ow and it’d take them 7 seasons to get together. My assumption for this is that shows are afraid of getting canceled, but there’s been a pretty big shift in getting a couple together after say, 6 seasons to now getting them together about halfway through the show. I don’t think either one is bad or good - in good writers’ hands, either can be amazing - but that shift has made it so that a lot of younger fans in particular, I think, don’t fully recognize slowburn when they see it.

911 as a show tends to run pretty fast - it kind of has to with its depth of characters they have - but when they do have slower running storylines they really do make use of that as well. Bobby’s addiction is something that’s always going to be present in his character, May’s suicide attempt was brought up again front and center after 3 seasons, even Chim’s dynamic with the Lees was brought up again and it was reinforced again that they’re his family. There are certain storylines that have to be continuous and aren’t a one and done type of thing, and that includes Buck and Eddie, especially if you want to establish them as queer to a general audience who doesn’t think about these things.

And honestly, despite my fears, I think they are laying groundwork there. We have Buck learning to be more confident in his relationships, we have Eddie ready to date and learning to follow his own heart, we have Buck and Eddie both establishing that Buck is family and will always be there for Christopher. These are pretty big steps to do for a ship and we’ll obviously have to see how the show goes forward but they’ve already insinuated Eddie and Ana are breaking up, I’m sure Taylor and Buck may last a season and be over, but we do have to see what this next season brings. Do I think they’d say this? No, definitely not.

tl;dr:

911 is a show with good viewership, but there’s always a possibility they can’t continue with their season and then their promises would feel like a lie. Or they may still be hammering out the details as this season hasn’t been written. Or they may just simply not want to spoil their show, or they don’t want people criticizing a story before it’s finished, all of these could be reasons. The showrunners, writers, actors, ultimately they owe nothing to us as a fandom to potentially spoil their series, or do something, change it or their schedule for it, and get accused of bait.

But it also doesn’t change why fans are wary of this storyline either, and I wish people would have more nuance and compassion for fans who are worried about queerbait (whether they think it’s not queerbait and dislike people worrying about it or if they do and are calling people idiots for believing it). There’s a lot of reasons why fans are wary and don’t want to have hope, and it’s not necessarily about 911 specifically as it is a pattern of writing seen in other pieces that have fans worried. These things can all coexist and I wish we as fandom in general could acknowledge that, because pretending that they don’t and criticizing each other/people’s intentions or knowledge when they have certain expectations also doesn’t do much to help.

-Maybe a few good hours of him ranting about TSL because it’s Levi

-So the chances of you guys getting any sleep on said day are slim to none

-Also, if you agree to go to conventions with him, he will die of happiness

-On the rare occasion that he does go outside, he’s only out there because you went with him so that should tell you how much he loves you

-But most of the time you’re locked in his room to the point where Luci dearest has to come along and drag you the fuck to breakfast

-Ah, true love~~

Satan:

-I mean, this one should be pretty obvious too

-If he doesn’t enjoy dates in the library, then is he really Satan? (I never thought a sentence like that would ever be typed)

-Most of the time it ends with him reading to you because his voice is sO bEAutIful and you just melt when you hear it

-I will forever hc that he makes sound effects while reading too so imagine that

-You two don’t always get the chance to spend a whole day together

-But he tries to check in on you at least once a day

-*Cue romantic run through the house of Lamentation, trying to find you so he can gossip and bitch about Lucifer*

-Walks with him are very common too

-They usually take place at night, because he’s a sap and he read too many romance books and damn it kiss him already

-He would hold an umbreally over you if it started raining and everything

-Satan takes these moments to chat to you about anything, he just wants to appreciate you being there

-You guys made out several times while on these ‘walks’ ngl skskevshskbeuensb

-One time, you showed him a cat cáfe in the human realm and he went nuts

-Safe to say you’ve been there more times than I care to count, most of which were without permission

-A day with him can either go extremely calmly and end with you guys falling asleep on each other in his room or escalate to either pranking Lucifer or...steamier stuff

-Haha if anyone ever mentions he’s a cheesy bastard, they’re dead before they can say their prayers

-Except you, you get the pass on this one, tease him as much as you want

Asmo:

-Finally, he gets to have you all to himself without any of his brothers cockblocking him all the time~ (same tbh)

-The whole day would be planned from head to toe in activities and events

-It would start with some sort of makeover in the morning (getting your nails done, doing hairstyles, skin routine etc.)

-Then it would move on to some serious shopping sprees where he basically buys everything that he deems to be cute

-They’re for you 100% tho

-The day usually ends with you getting dragged to parties and clubs because Asmo can’t go a day without speaking to other people

-By the time you get home, you’re almost knocked out cold and carrying several bags full of clothes and shit

-But you can never say you didn’t enjoy yourself on these days

-Having Asmo around is exhilarating and somehow, even if crowds happen to not be your thing, it’s still really easy to have fun anyway

-There are times when the two of you stay at home and do each other’s nails and everything

-And you two are very fond of these sort of dates as well

-Of course, all of this assuming he won’t try to seduce you and get in your pants all day

-Turns our Mammon is somehow telepathically connected to you and rushes over any time this happens

-So much for not being cockblocked I guess

-He always switches things up as well which is usually very pleasant because you don’t visit the same shops or clubs every day

-Just be back by midnight or you’ll have your asses handed back to you otherwise

Beel:

-Beel loves you

-Beel loves food

-If those two happen to be in the same room, he might as well die peacefully

-It’s all he ever asked for (especially if Belphie is there too)

-Half of the day is spent at either Hell’s Kitchen or in your kitchen at home

-For him, the food always tastes better when you’re there so if you’re willing to go, then he’ll be like a cheerful puppy the whole time (how many times have I compared Beel to a puppy lmao)

-The other half of the day is spent training

-Work out sessions are important to him and he’s more than happy to let you join in

-If anything, you’ll be on his back as he does his push ups even though you’re not that heavy to him

-It sort of warms that demon heart of his because you’re always there handing him towels and water after he’s finished

-And you always have snacks prepared too which is wonderful really

-Kudos for being able to hide them from him the whole time

-It’s also not that surprising to know that you, Beel and Belphie hang out a lot

-So these days often mean that Belphegor tags along with you guys everywhere

-You won’t notice him tho, believe me, he’ll just stay attached to Beel’s back and sleep the whole time

-If he gets to spend a day with his loved ones, then Beel can honestly not ask for more

Belphie:

-“Belphie...?”

-“Yes MC?”

-“Is.....is that a pillow fort that’s almost as big as the attic?”

-“It is indeed.”

-“Why?”

-“Why not?”

-Tbh it would be a miracle if you two didn’t sleep the whole day

-But if he had to go somewhere with you

-It would be anywhere

-Much like Mammon, he couldn’t give less of a shit about the evironment as long as you’re there

-Chances are, however, that he will sneak you two to the human world a few times in secret

-He still insists he hates humans but truth is, he misses them and their realm

-Going back there, without permission the same way he did all those centuries ago, was like a breath of fresh air

-You guys would be chilling at a park in the human realm, probably make small picnic or something

-Belphie, as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, loves these dates and would kill anything on his path if it meant he gets to be in your arms while taking a nap in the human world

-He invites Beel along too which makes everything so much better for him

-He will just fall asleep on you while you run your fingers through his hair

-Belphie is so warm too so it’s likely you won’t stay awake for long either

-Poor Beel has to carry both back to DevilDom but he does it anyway without complaining >:(

-He knows that he isn’t allowed to come up here and that he should stop these dates before Lucifer finds out

-But being out here with you brings him an irreplaceable meaning and you’re so soft and gentle, he can’t resist cuddling into you

-Also he doesn’t give a shit what Lucifer thinks

(Idk why my writing is so bad in this post, it kinda feels like I forced myself to write it and maybe that’s why..? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my mess of HCs)
