So there is the potential I could get a tattoo at the end of this summer. And I'm quite excited.

It won't be the sword one. That one's going to be fairly big, and since it's more important to me I'd like to have gone through the process of planning and getting a tattoo at least once. Also it'll be 'spensive and I do Not have the budget for something big that will take a long time. Plus... visible... not the best at the school I'm at rn. xD

But I wanna get something small, somewhere easy to hide but that I can choose to have visible. I'm poking at ideas for what and where rn but sljdslkdflfsdjkljd exciteeee.

(Once I have an idea of when I'll be in town, finished work, and have time, plus what I want where, I'll likely poke around at some of the studios nearby. There's one whose art is fantastic, but a very particular style. Others I'd also need to poke around too.)

when you are old

when you are old, i will sit with you in the front yard with the sun at our feet like a poodle. i will listen to your stories, because you always tell stories and i always listen and it is no different now that we are old and you struggle to find words and i am hard of hearing. when you retired two years ago, i moved with you to this green piece of land, wide enough to accommodate the love in my breast. you sit on the swing in the yard. you kick your feet into the soil, you look up to the sun and smile, and i wonder, under this vast sky, who doesn’t love you?

when you are old, i will work in the garden with you. you love flowers, and because of you, for you, i love flowers too. during breakfast, i hand you buttered bread and ask, what flowers do you want to plant today? the dancing sunlight falls on your greying hair. you say, i want to plant carnations. when we walk to the flower shop, i hold your hand as i always have, like i’m afraid to break you. when we get home, i get out the tools, and you put our radio on a chair nearby. i start planting, each seed representing my love for you, and you water the plants next to me.

when you are old, i will fade away as well. one day, it will become difficult for us to walk. when that day comes, i will sit with you on the sofa and look at the photographs from when we were young. my feet get cold easily, so you get out the blanket. your hands get cold easily, so i raise them to my lips and breathe. the photo of us from secondary school is still in good condition. our smiles glow with the bittersweet naivety of teenagers, but also with the lively youth that we envy now. i can’t help but wonder at how far we have walked together.

when you are old, you will close your eyes, and i will sing for you. you have always cheered for me at choir, even when you couldn’t hear my voice. when you are old, the god of death will come to tear us apart. i will tell them to take you first. i will tell them to take you somewhere without pain. i will bear the grief of separation. don’t worry, dearest. i’m not going anywhere. wait for me patiently, beloved. didn’t i say that i will love you forever?

Looking at getting a tattoo for the first time in the next few months! Finally decided on what I want (clockwork compass because 1. that would look cool, 2. compass has some symbolism I like, 3. I feel like that can be sized well for a first time) and now just have to do the rest of the process. xDxP
