I bet Miguel can cook REALLY well.
Like CRAZY WELL.
Tumblr media
Being a dad he did have to come up with something to eat for dinner every night
And with Gabriella being a bit picky, sometimes he had to get creative
And some of his favorite memories are the conversations he and Gabbie had while dinner was on the stove
But even now, he loves it. Miguel finds he act of cooking so relaxing. He likes the peace and the order of it
And even if he comes in really really late from HQ - he'll still try and cook something
Fighting sleep while cooking a quesadilla on the stove
He's a Sazon loyalist SORRY ADOBO STANS
There's always tortillas, sour cream and salsa verde in his fridge - freshly made
(if you got those you can figure something out)
And he grows his own cilantro and basil on the window sill
And he'll never use powdered garlic, only fresh
Yes he can eat garlic - yes people on campus ask him that a lot
(he's hot ACTUALLY a vampire)
His seafood is TO DIE FOR
Miguel can make amazing lobster tail, or crab legs (with Old Bay and butter of course)
And his Ceviche is SO GOOD and SO FRESH
Most likely makes everything spicy. It's not even that he 'loves' spicy food - He just makes it spicy AF and acts like he doesn't notice
MEANWHILE you're next to him and it hurts to breathe
He and Hobie are bean stans.
Miguel loves them in Chilli con Carne, with rice, refried, you name it
and Hobie goes through those British blue cans of Heinz baked beans like it's nobodies business
They both think beans are underrated
Makes AMAZING MOLE and even better Tamales
But you have to BEG him for weeks on end to get him to make Tamales cause he can't be bothered - and he will make you help
He likes Avocado, like in general. On toast, with eggs, guacamole use always a staple
He'll often just eat chips and guacamole the whole day in his office and he'll get pissed if the food court is out of it.
Well look at a corn shell ground beef taco and be like 'You think that's a taco? Is that what you honestly believe?'
Loves cooking with other people - in fact Miguel actually just likes working with people in general. That's why Lyla has a personality.
He's good at guiding others during cooking and teaching them things and not bossing them around
OBSESSED LIKE CONCERNINGLY SO
With mango and Tajin
He'll put Tajin seasoning on ANYTHING - the first time Jess saw him put it on watermelon she was like 'what for????'
But he loves fruit in general, watermelon, lychee, guava. A lot of them are grown fresh in the Society gardens
Strawberries are a favorite of his. Gabriella loved strawberries on pancakes
He pronounces lychee - Leechee (not Lie-chee)
He's the fucking PRO at protein shakes and milkshakes
The man needs workout fuel and whey powder and kale and potassium and-
He's in the kitchen 5am getting ready for the gym
Making a shit ton of peanut butter strawberry banana and oats protein smoothie with coconut milk and honey to sweeten
Because he does have a sweet tooth.
Jolly Ranchers are an oral fixation
You can hear him sucking on one, the quiet clacking of it.
Or see him press it into his cheek, lost in thought
But baking and sweets are his secret love
He just doesn't have anyone to test it on anymore - so he doesn't
His flan is the best, and it was one of Gabbie's show faves
He eats parfaits pretty often, and makes them a lot for Jess (and she teases it for it)
Miguel LOVES tres leches cake, as sweet as possible. And fancy stuff like creme brulee
Don't tell anyone but he actually really likes cheesecake he acts like it's a secret
With him cooking get ready for the most sugariest breakfast ever. It's a dad thing.
Whipped cream, fruits, syrup, chocolate chips, you name it.
Sure Miguel shouldn't have been giving Gabriella THAT much sugar THAT early - but with you it's fine so enjoy the stomach ache in two hours
Another dad thing:
COOK OUT FOOD.
Him and Peter get INTENSE.
Miguel swears by charcoal grills, Peter likes propane and gas
Miguel is the tio with the best Hot dogs and relish that HITS
Peter is the burger dad who spends an insane amount of money on Angus beef
Miguel judges your hot dog toppings but says nothing
His ELOTE???? EUPHORIC
Like,,, it'll bring you to tears it's so good - I don't know how he does it
And when it comes to cooking he's ALWAYS willing to learn
He'd rather invite you over and cook you something than going out to eat
He'll learn something you like or where you're from and make something from there
Even better if you can teach him how to make something - the two of you can make it together
But his favorite part by far is setting it down at the table, trying not to seem like he's watching your reaction
And seeing your face light up at the first bite
Or even better -
Seeing you collapse into bed with a food coma
Miguel with cooking and food as a love language

could i get your take on what the companions (or just my favorite boy X6's) top 10 fave candies/foods would be in a modern AU?
anon you are in luck, because I am constantly thinking about the diets and eating habits of my blorbos
The numbered list isn't in any particular order, it's just so I don't have to manually count each point
so
What the companions would eat if not in a post apocalypse
Cait; Wouldn't have a taste for fancier cuisine. Eats more...hick-ish. I can say that because I was a hick with this kind of diet, growing up. Has a taste for filling, cheap, low-effort food...think lots of fast food, but "healthier" fast food. Like Chipotle, Panera, etc. Can cook, doesn't often, but will if she has a craving. Savory or tart tastes. She tends to eat lighter than you'd expect.
Blueberry brownie anything, favors dark chocolate in general
Submarine sandwiches, anything with pickles
Key lime pie
Salt and vinegar chips and thinks critics of such chips are cowards
Peach Redbull, any energy drinks though
Storebought hummus and Doritos, has been seen eating hummus with just a spoon though
Blueberry bread pudding. Simple to make, fun to eat, very comforting. Buys her bread already stale from a local bakery, has a guy to hook her up with the old shit
Seafood chowder
Sausages in any capacity. Jerky sticks, breakfast sausage, etc. Loves chorizo.
Honey buns from the gas station
Curie; Health nut, she eats like every influencer claims they eat like. Only, Curie actually eats like that. Lots of fresh foods and whole grains, little red meat. However, Curie makes a point to have foods that other health nuts would condemn, thinks its really important to not label any food as "bad." So, she balances between health nut and normal person. Her taste leans toward bright and/or sweet. Dislikes red meat.
Salmon breakfast wraps
Tropical fruit smoothies, eats so much pineapple
Iced tea, favors raspberry. Never seen without an iced tea of some kind
Halibut tacos, likes red cabbage and a fuck ton of lemon on it. Soft shells all the way
Bananas foster
Whipped brie dip, eats it with anything but loves it on apples, basically dessert
Lemon pepper grilled chicken and rice
So many salads, loves that you can just throw shit in a bowl and call it a recipe. Likes strawberries and almonds
Lemon poppyseed muffins
Shrimp and bitter melon stir fry
Danse; mixed bag. One on hand, small town diner tastes. Simple, cheap, good ol' American food. On the other, he's doomed to be a soldier in every universe he's in, so...maybe he picks up some tastes and dishes from places he's toured. Gets a weird pallate that shoots in all directions and makes you wonder what it's like in that thick skull. One day he's a good American boy with pancakes and steak, the next he's eating cake mix dry and drinking tahini from a flask.
Anything BBQ, but a pulled pork devotee
Hot coffee so heavily creamed and sugars it looks like milk. He likes the twix combo of chocolate, shortbread, and caramel flavors
Prepackaged baked goods a la Hostess, fucks up little Debbie oatmeal cookies
Apple and pecan pie
Menemen—Turkish dish, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, bell peppers, spices to taste, and (controversially) onions. Adds sausage and cheese, eats it with a fork or spoon (its meant to be eaten with bread)
Khachapuri—Georgian cheesy bread with egg. Eats with a knife and fork. (its meant to be eaten with the bread crust)
Smores pop tarts
Beef and potato stew
Rice bowl with fried egg and avocado, bonus points if it has bacon
Straight cookie dough/brownie/cake batter, usually when he's black out drunk and cannot shame himself out of eating raw egg products.
Deacon; Very childhood comfort food. Y'know, things you had as a kid, but probably grew out of a bit? Eats out of gas stations/takeout frequently. Very open flavor pallete, has tried everything he's had the chance to. Likes one-handed food, stuff you can have the other hand free for. Doesn’t really have a 'theme', has broad horizons for his diet. Likes lighter, mild flavors, though. He eats lightly and on the go a lot.
Hot/corn dogs, taste in hot dog toppings varies
Egg salad sandwiches
French fries and vanilla ice cream, classic combo
Mango sticky rice
Cornbread with any accompaniments. Likes honey or chili, thinks if you have a drink with cornbread, you ain't a real cornhead
Penne alla vodka
Cucumber salad. This could mean a salad with cucumbers, that trending Asian recipe where you cut the cumber so its springy, or eating a cucumber like a hotdog.
Fried mushrooms
Usually just drinks water but will have gator/powerade when he's working. Likes purple flavor
Captain crunch cereal, loves all cereal though. Prefers the kibble stuff to the berries. Starts philosophical debates about the morality of Trix commercials vs Lucky Charms commercials
Gage; His favorite foods reflect his upbringing. Coastal swamp cuisine, cheap and made in bulk. Take Danse's pallate and hyperlocalize it, and then lower the budget by a good amount. Things he grew up eating. Would gradually replace his favorites with pricier, 'less embarrassing' dishes, distances himself from his origins. However, takes care to not looked too loaded. Smokey and savory flavors are his thing, likes more spice than people expect.
Doberge cake, which is layered with pudding, often half-chocolate and half-lemon
Red beans and rice, with stewed pork if they could afford it
Blackened fish of any kind, liked it with cilantro-lime rice
Steak with potatoes and/or eggs
Chronic iced tea drinker like Curie, though he prefers the bitter kinds
Scallops
Brussels sprouts defender and will fight for their honor
Peaches
Was introduced to curry during a business meeting/outing. Could drink that shit from a glass, has it with potatoes and porkchops.
Lobster anything. This is one of those 'less embarresing' things, but he genuinely enjoys a good lobster roll. Even if he prefers a freshly-caught lobster bisque. Again, something he had growing up, something he pushes away.
Hancock; Similar to Deacon, but favors fatty, greasy food. No, it's not the drugs, that's just his metabolism. He's a skinny twink, always starving, can never put on weight. Eats as much as Danse, who is a big guy and needs more calories than most. He's really into street food and foreign dishes, won't eat at a restaurant if they speak fluent English or have good customer service. IYKYK. Very comfort food heavy, lots of "this would slap with Netflix at 2 am"
A classic oxtail, mac and cheese, and collard green take out combo
Any and all American-chinese take out, usually gets eggplant tofu with chow mein and cream cheese rangoons
"Walking tacos", those things where you open a small bag of chips and dump White People taco makings in. Probably just tips the whole thing into his mouth
Yakitori, Japanese chicken skewers, popular bar food
Bloody Mary cocktails
Pizza, will fight for the honor of pineapple. Would really be into how Brazil does pizza
Frozen yogurt and ice cream, piles with toppings
Breakfast sandwiches or wraps. Egg, meat, cheese, doesn't matter the time nor specifics.
Jam donuts, loves cherry fillings
Puppy chow/muddy buddies, chex cereal covered in chocolate and powdered sugar. Eats his weight in them if not careful
MacCready; forces himself to learn how to cook for Duncan's sake, but for himself...good God. It's horrible. Eats like garbage. Would never drink water if not to set an example. Take out, frozen food, so much candy and soda. After Duncan, broadens his horizons. Finds he really likes soups. Just throw shit in a pot and it works. Eats on a budget, so that's a life-saver. Doesn't have a preferred flavor pallete, aside from his love of candy.
Meat lover's pizza. Thinks pineapple has no place on pizza
Used to drink Mountain Dew and diet coke, replaced it with iced teas and more organic fruit juices for the sake of his teeth
Chicken soup, either from a can, or homemade. Either way, slaps. If homemade, blends veggies for a hidden veggie stock. For him, Duncan is a lot better at eating veggies, MacCready needs to trick himself.
Sour rainbow ropes
Cookie crisp cereal, thinks whoever came up with it deserved the sloppiest head. Incredible design, no notes
Cheese and sour cream chips
Famous Amos cookies
Eggo waffles
Gnocchi is God to him. Its superior to all noodles and makes your Shit In The Fridge soup 1000 times better.
Rice pudding is cheap, easy, and a surprisingly efficient sweet-tooth satisfier. Makes it with pumpkin spice mix or chocolate.
Nick; Home-cooked meals all the way. Could kill himself with cheese and die happy. Lots of easy meals and snacking so he can keep working, but will treat himself to a nice, hard-earned dinner when he has the time and energy. Likes himself the smokey, the fresh, or the sour. Probably knows all the best sub shops in the city, probably in a turf war with regulars of rival shops. Jewish delicatessens are like church to him.
Lasanga. Most of his freezer space is lasagna. Eats so much of it. He's lactose intolerant. It hurts but it hurts so good
Latkes. Fried potato things, kind of like hashbrowns, except the potato is mashed/ground instead of grated. And yes. Also pastrami. But those little potato bitches...mmmph.
Red velvet muffins with cream cheese frosting.
Fried cheese in any capacity
A prosciutto, arugula, brie, and fig sandwich
Pickled pearl onions
Cobb salad
Black coffee. Temp doesn't matter, because he's going to forget it until its room temp.
Has been known to enter fugue states and consume an absurd amount of Chicago style hot dogs
Scones or just plain bread with butter and jams
Piper; Broke college student trying to make it as a reporter. Her tastebuds are fucked, they salivate not for flavor, or texture, but for those good, good low prices. Piper's diet is almost entirely snackfood or takeout. If she ever cooks, it's for Nat. But when taking care of just herself, Piper eats from a box or bag. When she does cook, it's very simple meals. Loves her carbs and her fruit flavors
Chicken Ramen with canned chicken and frozen broccoli chucked in. Also makes this for Nat
Hot cheetos, eats with chopsticks
Spaghetti and meatballs
Fruit smoothies/smoothie bowls, blends in veggies as well for the nutrition
Coka cola and anything from Fanta, loves fruit sodas
Anything carbs and I mean that. Eats a lot of bread, pasta, cakes, potatoes...they're the sweetheart of anyone on a budget.
Buffalo cauliflower, likes it more than Buffalo chicken
Chewing gum. Fruit flavors only, hates mint gum. Likes mint elsewhere, just not in gum.
Nickle-nips and other "jelly/juice in a wax package" candies. Likes the charm of it, also, free chewing wax
Suckers/lollipops, big on hard candy in general but the stick satisfies her smoking habit.
Preston; A mix of easy depression/bulk meals and dishes from his childhood. Lots of spices, cooks with a lot of straight peppers. Tends to eat his food 'raw', not made into a dish. Again, easy and quick to eat. Also tends to buy pre-prepared stuff for the same reason, buys more fruits and veggies and just eats them straight. Doesn't care about eating healthy, he just lacks energy to cook most days.
I have no choice to explain this as it has no name. Casserole dish, layer of mashed potatoes, layer of shredded or chunked chicken, layer of white breakfast gravy or brown poultry gravy, top with drop biscuits. It's buttery, its savory, it is white as snow. Easy, cheap, one ladlefull is dinner. You'll get a few meals out of it, and it's so filling you have like, five minutes before you're stuffed. I call it gut-glue.
Dirty rice
Eggs scrambled with spinach
Jollof/jambalaya
Veggies and hummus or ranch
Various fruits and berries such as grapes, cherries, blackberries, and oranges
Shakshouka, eggs poached in spicy tomato sauce and eaten with bread
Chicken biscuits, crackers dusted with, like, chicken bouillon? They taste like a chicken Ramen packet sneezed on a ritz
Slurpees/Icees/those syruped gas station ice drinks
Straight peppers, eats bell peppers like apples. Eats pickled jalapeños and scotch bonnets to feel something. Drinks the liquid in pickle jars instead of alcohol, or mixes it with gelatin and makes pickle jello.
X6-88; Pretensious rich asshole who eats like it. He rarely cooks for himself, probably has a personal chef or something. Maybe his work has their own restaurants, like Google. Eats mostly vegetables, but his favorite foods skew from "Dubai Influencer" to "12 year old who earned too much lawn mowing money and was let loose in a convenience store." So much sugar. Willy Wonka's factory is his idea of heaven and until it exists, he's an atheist.
Raw meats. Steak and tuna tartar, sashimi, and sushi
Braised duck with cherries
Nduja, a spicy pork sausage spread, has it with flatbreads
Oysters. Eats them all fancy in public, eats them from a tin with doritos at home
Anything from Hostess, Little Debbie, those brands. Fucking anything. However, would kill a man for any kind of Swiss roll
Chocolate milk
Gummies, very picky with brands, hates the harder kinds like Haribo. Wants his gummies soft as a marshmellow
Cadbury eggs
Milano dark chocolate cookies
Gushers

Character inspired meals: supernatural
Starter: Caesar Salad - Romaine lettuce
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sam~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dessert: Dairy free Strawberry cheesecake -
parmesan cheese, crisp croutons, caesar salad dressing
Main: American Pasta Salad - Bow-tie pasta, feta cheese, sweet basil, sliced black olives, halved grape tomatoes and it should have creamy balsamic dressing BUT I hate balsamic dressing so no.
Crust = raw pecan, almond flour, cinnamon, coconut oil & a tiny bit of salt. Filling = raw cashew, canned coconut milk but I'd assume lactose free would also work, (I say this because I HATE coconut milk) fresh lemon juice, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract and a shit ton of strawberries. Sam has joked about being lactose intolerant before and true or not i am and id like to have these meals plus Dairy free options are usually more healthy and that's probably what same would go for. While there is cheese in the first two, it's only a little and we'd be fine but a cheese cake? No way, but I love cheesecake so we're gonna make it safe for us lol
Drink: Fresh apple juice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dean~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Main: Kansas style Hunter’s chicken -
Starter: Mozzarella sticks - Mozzarella cheese and bread cumbs, no surprises in that. Anyway, in 15×10, Dean finds out he is also lactose intolerant but canon aside, he is DEFINITELY the type to say fuck it and eat anything anyway no matter the cost and mozzarella sticks slap so who cares? Not us. Mozzarella sticks are a classic starter but If you think that they're too light, even though it's a starter and its ment to be light, you could always go for my personal homemade tomato soup - Canned tomatoes, All purpose flour, fresh cream, butter, sugar, salt, pepper and I tend to top it off with basil or parsley. Dean mentions in a flashback that Mary would make tomato soup all the time when he was little so it's why it came to mind.
Kansas barbecue sauce, olive oil, finely chopped onions, chicken breast , tomato paste, bacon, grated cheddar, lettuce, chopped cucumber
Chopped radishes with lemon juice drizzled over it and a dash of black pepper, served with bread to eat the left of over sauce with. I recommend tiger bread. I thought this would work for dean cos it's 2 types of meat, it's messy and he feels like the kinda person to hear 'Kansas style' and go nuts for it.
Dessert: Apple cinnamon pie - Filling = Apples, golden caster sugar, cinnamon & flour. Pastry = butter more golden caster sugar, eggs & plain flour. Not much suprise here either. Dean's food needs are simple. I know y'all want me to say cherry pie but the meal I've made would go better with apple as a nice pallet clean. This is accidentally a very American meal but fun fact, Apple pie first originated in England, where it developed from culinary influences from France, the Netherlands, the Ottoman Empire and apple trees weren't even native to America until europeans arrived so idk why y'all decide to take it as if you did something here. Y'all did nothing here, that pie is my blood not yours. 😤 /hj Anyway, all this to say, apple pie will taste better with this and also gives a hint of Men of letters to the meal.
Drink: Cola. Simple man, simple needs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Cas~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starter: PBJ mini parfait - yogurt, crunchy peanut butter, granola & strawberries. The jam is made of frozen mixed berries (like blackberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, redcurrants, strawberries ect), chia seeds, orange juice & maple syrup. Because cas canonically likes PB&J & i think mini parfait are neat.
Main: American style honey & banana pancakes with vanilla ice cream on the side - Honey for the bee obsession, bananas for the monkey obsession he also has the the same episode but people over look that part. "How important is lipstick to you, Dean?", American style pancakes are fluffy like angel wings lol and vanilla ice cream also reminds me of angels, i cannot elaborate on it, it just does.
Drink: Butterfly pea flower tea latte - cashew milk, blue butterfly pea flower powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract & dried rose petals for garnish. It's a bright blue, sweet, all natural beauty. Makes my heart flutter just looking at it, just like Cas. Lol what a simp. If you don't want to empty your wallet on one drink, you can have cinnamon coffee instead because his coat gives the vibe and Misha said he uses cinnamon sprays all the time and so always smells like cinnamon no matter what hes doing.
Dessert: Angel food cake - Plain flour, caster sugar, eggs, cream of tartar, lemon juice & zest, unsalted butter served with double cream, mango sauce, juiced lime, strawberries & passion fruits cos *place angel joke here*
Drink: Ice cream cola float - Cola + vanilla Ice cream. This was the most childish drink I could come up with, it's very hit or miss for people and you get the combo of Deans Cola and Cas' ice cream because it's very cute to me. I very much feel Jack would like this drink and Sam would hate it because it's far too unhealthy and weird, making it a perfect drink.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Jack~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What I ate [ Jan 6-7, 2023 ]
I sleep and wake up at really weird times often, so it's hard to do these by date if I'm currently in a weird sleep schedule phase. Also I'm currently staying at my mother's until the Jan 9, so I eat a bit worse than I normally would (like at my own place I don't drink whole milk, don't buy salami usually, I only buy plain rolled oats and not sweetened müsli mixes, I rly only put no fat cream cheese or yogurt on my bread, etc etc etc. I don't cut at many corners at my mother's because I find it wasteful to purchase my own separate food on top of what's here).
I don't weigh my food or count calories. I only drink water, unless listed.
Anyway.
Woke up at around 4pm from a 4-5 hour nap. Had bad dreams so high anxiety; didn't eat until 7pm. Meal 1:
Tumblr media
Last two slices of home-made pizza -Dough: Flour, curry spice, salt, a splash of olive oil, water, baking powder. -Base: Ketchup -Toppings: Red onion, two types of cut up salami, cut up chilli peppers, cherry tomatoes, a bit of grated emmentaler cheese. Dried basil, grill spice mix
Cucumber salad -Sliced cukes, sliced onion, vinegar, olive oil, salt
Yogurt bowl -No fat greek yogurt: mixed half of strawberry flavor & half of bluebery flavor, they come in 140g cups. Emco baked müsli with dried strawberries; frozen berry mix on top.
Not pictured: A large mug of coffee with a bit of whole milk. No sugar.
Only ate half of the yogurt bowl, if that.
Napped again. Woke up at around 1:30am.
Meal 2 (snack):
Ate at around 2:00-2:30am. Didn't take pic. Finished the rest of the yogurt bowl. Continuously sipping on a new large mug of coffee with a bit of whole milk.
Meal 3 (snack):
Tumblr media
Ate at around 4:20am.
The rest of the strawberry no-fat greek yogurt
125g vat of blueberries - less than that, bcs I ended up throwing like 10 blueberries out bcs they were moldy
4 chocolate banana bites -They're essentially slices of banana in between these two circular biscuit thingies (kinda like ladyfingers but harder/drier and round). Dipped in cooking chocolate melted with milk & a bit of butter and then fridged until the biscuits go soft.
More coffee with a bit of whole milk. Can't wait to have my 2% back T-T
Meal 4:
Tumblr media
Homemade: Red lentils w chicken (and some chopped up bacon) with a ton of spices, canned tomatoes & peppers. -On top: Sauerkraut & chopped green olives
Two slices of toasted white bread
Three chocolate banana bites (The last ones, rip)
Three waffle crackers (salty)
Two tangerines
Now this is where I fucked up. Didn't eat this until past 9am, and by that time I was already kinda fainty. The tangerines were a mistake and I should have saved them for later, but since I was so hungry I inhaled all of this in 20 minutes and ended up overeating. I'm way too full and feel like shit :/// Last meal for the day, methinks.
Also yeah. More coffee.
Ghoul out 🤟

so i ate, dunno how much, let myself off being on my period. my period is irregular i never know when its coming, but one sign is hubby getting peeved at little things, and then hes like ”that was out of character, are you on your period?” and im like no, but next day i am lol. fuck this week its ruined, im gonna put all my hopes on this weekend, so lemme plan the foods I will fill my shelf with:
Fridge:
-Apples 🍏
-Rice milk 🥛(I’m thinking of going vegan again, it would align with my beliefs, I don’t want to be a hypocrite anymore.. I don’t want to be a failure anymore.. im not sure how well it’ll go with oats but I’ll try it)
-Clementines 🍊(they are high in sugar but I like them and will have one every once in a while)
-Cherries 🍒
-Dark chocolate 🍫 (for a treat to reward myself after fasts)

-Squash either orange or lemon 🍋 (so low in cal and so delicious)
-Lemon 🍋
-Avocado 🥑

Hey jaiden! This might be a weird question, but I recently started living by myself, and one of my biggest struggles lately has been figuring out what to eat everyday, cause I have to find cheap and easy stuff since I’ve never been a really good cook lol. For some reason I thought you might know of some recipes that might work for me? You don’t have to answer this, but thank you so much if you do ❤️ hugs
i'm not a very good cook tbh, and my taste in food is especially bland, but i can share the few things i do know! i'll put it under the cut bc ik i'll ramble lol
i stock up on sandwich ingredients since it's cheap and easy to make and u can make a bunch of them!!! if u have money for a frying pan u can make sandwiches soooo good. i make a lot of grilled cheese in the frying pan!!! i just put 4 slices of turkey w a slice of american cheese in the middle and top it with white bread, then coat the pan in butter and fry the grilled cheese on either side for about 1-2 mins on low temp, until the bread turns golden brown, n that's it!!! u can add other stuff im just rlly bland w my food yk. i also make a lot of tuna fish sandwiches lol, i just mix tuna with mustard and mayonnaise (you can guess how much you need of either tbh) and put that between two pieces of toasted white bread, u can add seasonings to it but again im bland lol
SALAD STUFF is a huge one for me, i always try to have salad ingredients at the house bc its such a good snack!!!! the way i make salads is really easy, i get spinach and spring mix salad, cut up 2-3 strawberries depending on their size, then throw in blueberries, purple and/or green grapes, a can of mandarin oranges, and top it off with a FUCK TON of feta cheese, and that's it!!! u can top it off whatever dressings u like, idrk what dressings would go good w this so use your own discretion ig but yeah its super easy to make, this is one of my go-to meals!!!!
if you have a frying pan, tilapia is really easy to make and it's cheap too!!! you literally just brush the top of the tilapia with olive oil, season it with whatever seasonings you like (i usually only put a little salt, pepper, and a light dusting of tony's chachere's) then fry it on both sides and then you're done!!
i make a lottttttttttt of smoothies, which you do need a blender for, but if you do have one they're really filling for meals!! my favorites are strawberry banana and peanut butter banana smoothies. i just put a cup full of crushed ice, a single banana, 3-5 strawberries depending on their size, a tablespoon of sugar, guess the amount of milk needed, then blend that all together!!!!! the peanut butter banana recipe is the same, except instead of 3-5 strawberries i put in a tablespoon of peanut butter!! theyre both soooooo good and filling and easy to make, definitely would recommend!!
generally a lot of small grocery stores will have weekly sales papers at the front of their store that are free for customers to take, it's good to get in the habit of getting those papers and basing ur meal preps off that!!! some stores will have better deals than others for the same thing, the sales papers helps to keep track of it all :') maybe that's basic info to some of u but i literally didn't know this until i met my bf's mom and it has changed my life lol
otherwise most of the food i eat is canned/refrigerated meals or store bought pizza tbh it's embarrassing how little i know how to cook lmao, but there are tons of recipes on the internet! i find a lot of helpful tutorials on youtube, instagram, and tiktok!!

Note
What foods do you usually eat then? Lately everything's just been pretty much disgusting for me too and I'm at a loss
bread
ham and cheese sandwich + potato chips
peanut butter and jelly sandwich
eggos + peanut butter and maple syrup
eggos are super easy lil bitches to pop in your toaster and then slap some peanut butter on
cinnamon toast + maple brown sugar oatmeal
try mixing grown flax seeds into the oatmeal. it doesn’t taste super great, but the brown sugar and cinnamon pretty much mask it and flax seeds have protein, fiber, and omega 3
blueberry / lemon poppy seed muffins
if you don’t have the spoons to Make muffins, get a box of muffin mix designed to be made in a mug! you can find them in the breakfast aisle, and you just add milk or water and microwave for a minute, and they taste great~
pizza (alfredo sauce; I hate marinara)
you can also add garlic powder and shredded cheese to the crust mix for extra goodness!
wheat rolls
you can buy pre-cooked rolls in the frozen section that just need to be heated up in the oven
protip: rub some olive oil on your pan / baking sheet, salt it lightly, sprinkle different cheeses, and THEN press your rolls onto all that goodness. it will bake onto the bottom of the roll and taste great!
pasta
I buy Knorr pasta sides, usually in the boxed meals aisle but they come in bags and lots of different flavors
I like bland stuff, so I buy: spinach and kale, herb and butter, alfredo sauce, broccoli and alfredo but they have lots of flavorful stuff too
macaroni and cheese
my mom made me a really great recipe for homemade mac’n’cheese if you want it
but Kraft is super easy and tastes great too
secret ingredient!! boil your noodles in half water, half chicken broth or get some broth concentrate and add a few teaspoons of that to add flavor and a tiny bit of protein!
gnocci is really good if you need something kind of different
they’re made from potatoes but taste and feel like noodles after being cooked
you can cook them in whatever sauce you want or buy boxed meals with sauce already included; I buy Italia four cheese gnocci
ramen
I just buy regular chicken flavor in those orange packs you can get for .50 but there’s lots of flavors usually available
you can also look up a ton of recommendations on how to add more good stuff like spices and vegetables but I am BORING so here are my fave picks:
oil / butter - add a drizzle of olive oil and/or a pat of butter at the very start when you put your noodles in; this is solely to add calories bc since I struggle to eat anything at all, I rarely hit 2000 a day and bodies need that
an egg - add about halfway through; you can crack it directly in there and let it bake on top of the ramen, but I prefer whisking it up in a cup and then pouring it in while stirring to get a scrambled egg effect; adds protein!!
parmesan cheese - don’t add until you’ve scooped out what you want into a bowl bc if you try to cook it with your noodles it will goop up in your pot; sprinkle some shredded or dusted parmesan on top of the ramen in your bowl, it tastes great with the egg
ravioli
I get Buitoni cheese ravioli with the matching alfredo sauce, but they also have pesto and marinara sauce
you can get meat-filled ravioli too, and ravioli made with spinach and kale baked into the noodles / cheese filling for some extra nutrition
goes great with wheat rolls!
soups!
I’ve started buying canned soups to start with and then just adding whatever I want to them
things to add to soups: potatoes, carrots, broccoli, celery, corn, peas, chicken broth, you can buy shredded meat like chicken or roast beef if you’re into that, vegetable stock / bullion
I also have a quick and easy homemade chicken noodle soup recipe
boil egg noodles in chicken broth plus herbs (rosemary, thyme, celery flakes), then add cut up carrots and potatoes, (plus any other meat or vegetables you want) and boil until everything is tender
goes great with cornbread muffins!
I found little “snack packs” of carrots that had exactly the right amount of carrots for one pot of soup, and there were four packs. so that might be easier than buying an entire bag of carrots that you’ll only use ¼ of
and a good recipe for potato and broccoli soup
don’t have it on me rn so message me if you want it and I’ll find it
it has potatoes, broccoli, sharp cheddar cheese, and a creamy sauce; also great with cornbread
if you want minimal cooking, heating up a can of campbell’s chicken noodle soup is fine!
I make a grilled cheese sandwich to go with it
protein
anything with peanut butter
I like Munchies peanut butter crackers bc they taste the Best
lots of stuff with cheese
protein shakes!
I buy Bolton’s Farmhouse bc they also make good strawberry banana fruit smoothies and their protein shake tastes like chocolate milk
Cliff granola bars
very expensive, but I like peanut butter banana, chocolate chip, and peanut butter flavors; super easy to eat when you don’t have the spoons to make anything
yogurt
greek yogurt has the most protein if you can suffer through it like I do. oreo crunch isn’t bad and salted caramel is OK. whipped yogurt tastes the best but it doesn’t have as much protein
smoothies
you can buy a bag of mixed berries in the frozen section, then add plain yogurt, orange juice / pomegranate juice (fucking expensive), kale or spinach leaves (you really don’t taste them) Body by Vi (also expensive!), and blend it up
if you don’t have the spoons for that, you can buy smoothie drinks like I mentioned above with the protein drinks. I mix in some Vi stuff with that since it has a lot of vitamins and extra protein. I like the cream cheese flavor bc it’s sweet
roast beef and mashed potatoes
obviously cooking a roast takes a lot of time, so I just buy a package of precooked roast beef next to the tubs of premade mashed potatoes. you can heat up both in the microwave in about 5 min each, and it goes great with wheat rolls
I hope this helps and message me again if you want recipes for anything!

The next day I knew that it was going to be a rough one. After Seb and my sex round, I knew I needed sleep to help me get through what was coming. I woke up later that morning to find Seb's spot cold as ice and laughter drifting from the kitchen. I scrunched my nose, in curiosity, and slipped my clothes back on. I skittered down the hall, finding Seb, Chris and Penn sitting around the table as Mikayla cooked, yet another big breakfast. Seb rose to let me sit, "Morning, mama."
I shook my head, face disgusted. "Too soon, Seb." I sucked in a breath. "Chris."
He smiled at me, his eyes warm. "Hey, doll."
I felt tears prick my eyes. "Chris, I'm so sorry."
He stood, coming to me. "Doll, no need to cry. Listen, I overreacted. I know you didn't purposely get pregnant and certainly not to hurt me. It's okay."
Tears sprung free, rolling down my cheeks. "I don't know what to do." I whispered. "What am I supposed to do?"
He pulled me into him, kissing the crown of my head. "(y/n), it's not my call to make. But first, we need to get you to a doctor."
Seb nodded behind him and smiled. "I told Chris just a few minutes ago that I made you an appointment for this morning. We're all going to go; you, me and Chris."
I snuffed and stepped away. "The three of us?"
Chris nodded, smiling. "Sebastian understands how important you are to me and was willing to let me in on this. It's at 11:30."
I looked at the clock, 10:49. "Shit, we won't make it on time if we don't leave now."
Seb nodded, "I know baby, just calm down. We were waiting for you to wake up. Chris, meet us down in the lobby will you?" Seb came to me and pushed me towards the bedroom, where magically clothes had been laid out for me at the end of the bed. "Get dressed sweetheart, meet me by the door. (y/n), I love you."
I smiled tightly, "Love you too."
I got dressed and followed Seb to the elevator, slowly making its way down to the lobby. "Chris is being way to chill about this."
Seb laced our fingers together, "'I know, babe, but don't push it. We're lucky he's holding it together as is."
We hailed a taxi and 35 minutes later, we were in the hospital waiting room. I sat between the two boys, holding Seb's hand and resting my head on Chris's arm. An older lady with black hair and mocha skin came out and called my name. She looked between the men, "Uh, who's the daddy?"
Seb stood slowly, smiling. "I am."
The nurse, probably fifty-five, looked at me and winked. "Good choice, sweetie." My face flushed a deep red and I noticed Seb was rolling his eyes. "Y'all follow me please." She stopped and looked at Chris, "Who are you here with?"
He stood, "Uh, with them. I'm the girl's ex-boyfriend."
She looked from me to him and then to Seb. "Damn girl, okay. Uh, you come with me. Son, I'm a big fan but you'll have to wait here."
He nodded and sat down. "I'll be right here, sweetheart."
Seb and I followed the nurse into a small room, gray paint on the walls, bare except for a large portrait of the statue of liberty. She sat me down on the black bench, covered in parchment paper. It crinkled under my weight and Seb sat in the chair beside me. He laced our fingers together. "It'll be okay, baby."
I nodded. The nurse informed us that the doctor will be with us shortly. She exited the room and Seb pulled me down onto his lap. I pressed my cheek to his chest, soaking in his sweet smell. He smelt like vanilla, a bit of sweet juice, the ocean and warmth. Literal warmth. "Jesus, you smell good."
He chuckled, "That's good considering I still haven't showered since our crazy sex this morning."
I scoffed, "Fuck, well, I guess sex smells good on you then." I kissed his lips and he pulled me closer. He placed a gentle hand on my back, and the other to the back of my head, running his fingers through my hair. Half way through our wicked make-out session, the door started to open and I jumped off of him and onto the table. From the look of the doctor, my hair must've been a mess because he smiled and looked down at Seb who was wiping lip gloss off his mouth.
He introduced himself, "My name is Dr. Moretz, you're (y/n)?" I nodded. He looked at Seb, "You must be the dad."
He nodded and reached his hand forward. "Sebastian."
"Nice to meet you." He gestured to me. "I'm just going to ask you a few questions and then we'll take a look." He cleared his throat. "When were you expecting your period?"
I lifted my eyebrows, "Uh, roughly ... 5 days ago."
He nodded, jotting some notes down. "How many times have you had intercourse without protection?"
I scoffed, "With him or in general?"
He smiled, "With your current partner."
"Oh, uh, I don't really know. Like, not often, maybe like 5-6 times."
He nodded. "Okay, how many time have you had intercourse, with your current partner, in general?"
I bit my lip, "Roughly 35 times in the past two months."
Sebastian scoffed beside me and ran his hand through his hair. He raised his hand. "Doc, I have a question. Uh, is there any restrictions she's suppose to be on, sex wise?"
He smiled, "Actually no. Your baby is well protected in your uterus by the amniotic fluid that surrounds it.. So intercourse will do no harm." He looked back at me. "What kind of symptoms have you had?"
"Uh, my breasts hurt, I'm tired all the time. I pee more than I drink, I was sick quite a bit, not throwing up as much now, my mood and hormones are all over the place, and headaches." I rubbed my temples, out of habit.
Dr. Moretz smiled and wrote something else down. "Okay, I'll get your weight now, to measure the baby's growth. Just step over onto this scale, please." I stepped on it, he smiled and wrote it down. "Perfectly healthy for a girl your height. Thank you."
I sat back down and Seb was standing now, rubbing my back gently. "You okay?"
I nodded, "Yeah, fine baby, uh, my back is hurting that's all."
The doctor stood, twisting a blood pressure wrap around my arm. "Stay still please." He pumped a few times, and I held my breath. He smiled, "Pressure is perfectly normal for a woman at your stage of pregnancy, 120/80, lovely." He jotted it down and sat back into the swivel chair. "Okay, next let's discuss your diet. What have you been eating?"
Sebastian scoffed, "She's been eating like 3 day old Thai food, hamburgers, hot dogs, crap ton of ice cream. I tried making vegetables one night but she didn't touch them."
The doctor smiled, lips tight. "Okay, well first of all, all that has to stop, mostly. For the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, we recommend that you take folic acid at 5mg everyday. You can find this in some food as well, like, spinach, radish, coriander, mint and lettuce. Uh, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, beans, peas, corn, cabbage. Some fruits include avocado, pomegranate, oranges, strawberries. Nuts are good too; peanuts, walnuts, and almonds. Some drinks, obviously water, recommended at 12 glasses a day but if you don't feel like that, coconut water, skimmed milk, banana shakes. They are all good for you.  Also, let's discuss some blood tests that you'll need to get done. I have written them down for you." He handed Sebastian a piece of paper. "We'll check your blood type, iron levels, Rhesus factor, blood sugar. Also for hepatitis B, HIV/AIDS and syphilis. We'll screen for thyroid problems, rubella known as German measles. We'll screen for abnormalities, check for CMV, hepatitis C, HSV, Toxoplasmosis."
I looked at him in horror. "That's a lot of stuff."
"Yes, it is but we want to make sure your baby is healthy as a horse. Any questions?"
"Uh, yeah, what position should I be sleeping in?"
He chuckled, "Anything is fine, just as long as you're comfortable." He sighed, "Uh, now we'll just have to pick a date for you're ultrasound."
Sebastian shook his head, "We are wide open, I can study from home and take classes online. What do you have free Doc?"
He nodded, "How about July 21? That's 3 weeks from now." Seb nodded. "Perfect. Uh, between now and then, if you want to make appointments for those screening test, that would be helpful." He scribbled on his notepad. "This is your prescription for prenatal pills and folic acid. Now, I'll check your uterus and see where the baby's at."
He laid me down on my back, asking Sebastian to have a seat. He pulled on white rubber gloves and spread my legs. I felt his fingers trail up inside of me and move around slightly. He pulled out and removed the gloves. "Everything feels fine, you baby is about the size of a raspberry right now. If you experience any discomfort or are concerned about anything at all, we have a 24/7 helpline, feel free to call." He sat me up and scribbled again on the notepad. "You're both free to go." He exited the room.
Seb helped me off the bench and out into the waiting room. Chris was sitting there, talking to a young lady. He caught sight of me and excused himself. She looked disgusted but stomped off back towards her, I suspect, baby daddy. He hugged me, "What's the news?"
Sebastian smiled, "Everything is good, baby is healthy. Ultrasound is July 21, gonna check for the gender." He smiled. "I'll be right back, need to make appointments for all this blood test shit." He kissed my lips quickly.
Chris rocked on his heels, ducking his head to meet my eyes. "I won't be here for that."
I nodded, "I know."
"I'm still going back.. Back to California."
I sniffed, "Chris, I know."
He bit his lip, "You make a decision?"
I shot my head back, "You fucking serious? Chris! I'm fucking knocked up with my boyfriend's baby and you're asking me to run away with you? What the actual hell man?" I stepped away from him. I must have yelled a tiny bit because people were staring at us now, including Sebastian.
One girl leaned into her mother, "That's Chris Evans. Like the actor. Who's that girl with him?"
I looked her dead in the eye, "Sweetheart, if you're going to whisper, make sure it's a fucking whisper. I’m his ex-girlfriend.."
Sebastian was over to us now, "Uh, guys, everything okay?"
I shook my head, "Not really, Seb. Chris just asked me if I would run away with him back to fucking California with your baby inside of me." I stepped away, walking towards the exit.
When I turned around to yell at Seb to follow me, all I saw was his fist connecting with Chris's face, knocking him out cold. "Fuck you, Chris Evans."

Eating better...or something
So grocery shopping happened last night by head of household. She bought eggs and butter and cat food - because 10 hours gone to do ALL the household shopping meant paper goods and cat food and eggs and butter. (Can I scream?) So I’m trying to make a shopping list to hopefully get 2-3 weeks worth of meals out of it and not break what’s left of my check. My list so far: Big bag of potatoes big bag of shredded cheese (it is the same price per # as the unshredded stuff and I don’t have to spend a day grating cheese) jar of shaker cheese Oatmeal PB (that's mine and I won't get yelled  at for using) PB powder 2 - 18 pk eggs  - again mine.  Dried onion Cheap beef roast that I can slice and saute  Whole milk for mixing with the protein powder I have left  big pack of flour tortillas  2 heads cauliflower Packet of ranch dressing mix Sour cream 2 cucumbers pt plain yogurt small bag mini chocolate chips 3-5# bananas 2-3 large grapefruit 3# bag frozen chicken breasts (probably walmart, aldi’s or the low-end kroger in town) my one splurge is 2 boxes of lipton cold brew teabags a month...though I’m down to using just one box because I can make a pot of tea at work and refrigerate half for the next day.
Pre-existing in house: 1# cream cheese, 16# of ham, strawberries, 6# of bacon (and a bunch of other unhealthy crap I can’t/won’t eat because it’s got mushrooms in it); yeast, flour, sugar, spices, enough fat free flavorless microwave popcorn to supply everyone in a large movie theater at least once, 6 cases of ramen - all of it chicken flavored and a lot of canned soup that would send me to the ER - again mushrooms and like 4 gallons of maple syrup if I cover every cabinet and freezer...and possibly sausage which I’ll check before I go.
Since I’m on the road most of the time and can barely manage single bites of lunch at work on the days I do work I’m thinking things I can eat that are high protein and energy that I can eat on the road or when I get to work a few minutes early. And lighter snacks but still higher in protein for later evening things since the  odds of finding a dinner thing happening when I get home requires days of pre-planning and me doing most of the work the night before (and no one else moving a muscle). My ‘healthy’ snack is always raw cauliflower or broccoli and ranch dressing - I figure I can save $ there and make my own. I usually end up with 3/4 cup of cauliflower and at most 2 tbsp ranch per ‘serving’.  Mostly I’m thinking eggs and potatoes and shit like that for weekday meals when I’m home and/or protein shakes to use up what I have until I find an alternative that doesn’t have artificial sweeteners in it or work out some other option. And protein oatmeal or smoothies or homemade oatmeal breakfast bars for both home and on the road breakfasts.  Meat in the house will disappear unless I pre-cook it into something like a thing we affectionately call “fighter bombs or scooby snacks - depending on who you ask - basically eggs, cheese, sausage, pepperoni and/or bacon (or chicken or beef) baked with a biscuit type bottom in a muffin pan. Mini ones work great for poppable snacks and regular size or large make a good meal or half meal. Things like bananas, eggs, milk, - shit that’s going to spoil and doesn’t handle pre-prep and freezing is going to be bi-weekly purchase. Most bananas will get mixed into bars or oatmeal pucks that I’ll be freezing and portioning out after they’re frozen.   But simply I’m tired of eating the same crap and always being (1) hungry (2) fed up with the option limits in the house (or 3) getting harassed for having a ton of x food in the house. If I pre-make things like oatmeal pucks or breakfast bars I can freeze and eat at work or when desired I can put them in the big freezer and not hear about it being in the way all the time.  This is (1) a stress reliever  and (2) a way to improve my diet AND not get harassed for my food being in the way or me getting home exhausted and bitching about not having anything to eat except fried everything. And it’ll save me buying breakfast or something on the way to work.  There’s always juice in the house, I tend to go for OJ, or something else that only I can have or like - that get’s bought without issue. And other than that I mostly only drink unsweetened black tea. Because I’m fucking weird. Am I insane? Is this going to work? Am I going to feel better because I’m not eating junk? Am I going to see the scale go south of 210 anytime soon doing this? Am I going to have more money each week from NOT having to buy breakfast each day?

Deshauna Barber:
Tumblr media
Deshauna Barber was crowned Miss USA, 2016, but should have been crowned Miss Bad Ass 2016. Seriously, she’s GI Jane. She is currently a Logistics Commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland. She’s 26, smart, beautiful and kick ass. She can eat whatever the fuck she wants and burn it off in a day and look great doing it.  Oh yeah, and she does a ton of volunteer work for PTSD and women in the military.
Hydration:  10.5 glasses of water
Wake-up:  Protein Shake
Tumblr media
She calls this a protein shake, not a smoothie, because it’s more protein powder than anything else.  This has 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, (about 4 medium/small strawberries), 8 oz. of Almond Milk and a packet of plain protein powder, no sweetener.
I don’t see how this “wakes her up”.  I would have much preferred coffee.
Also, you can really taste the protein powder.  This shake needed either more strawberries or some sweetener added to it. Even ice would have helped. It’s not very good or satisfying.  And it definitely did not “wake me up”.
Breakfast:  Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with Blueberry Cream Cheese
Tumblr media
Obviously this is not the healthiest breakfast, but it sure tasted good!  I suppose she could have had a whole grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese and a side of blueberries, but what’s the fun in that?
Lunch: Open-faced sandwich
Tumblr media
Husband passed by as I was eating this and said, “I think you forgot a piece of bread on your sandwich.”  Haha.  He thinks he’s such a joker.  This was, however, a little slimy to eat without a  top piece of bread.  I should have put the lettuce on top.
This is multigrain bread, (Ezekiel), with one piece of Bibb lettuce, sliced tomato, spicy peppers, mustard, one slice of American Cheese and two slices of smoked turkey.
I almost broke my promise to stay true to the stars, faithful readers, and not purchase American Cheese, but I knuckled down and bought some.  I was raised by serious cheese lovers, who appreciated real cheese before it was cool and trendy to do so.  American Cheese never crossed the threshold of my parents house, or my own home..... until today. (I loathe American Cheese Stuffs....it goes against my very grain) And I am not even that much of a cheese snob.  I love cheese, any cheese, almost all cheese.....true cheese.  It’s what I miss eating the most during this crazy experiment.
The Cheese Police say it's not even real cheese.  It does not fall under the American standard definition of “cheese”, set forth by the FDA. Over 51% of its ingredients are “ additional ingredients” added to the milk. Take note that the word cheese never stands alone on an American Cheese package.  It’s the hot dog of the cheese world.....what the hell is in that stuff?
Great cheese is made all over this county, especially in Wisconsin,  Vermont and California....how is it that this dairy product came to be synonymous with the American cheese palate?  It’s rubbery and weird and tasteless, (I know I don’t have to describe it to anyone).  I would have much preferred cheddar on my sandwich. Even though I didn't miss the bread, I would have liked some chips or fruit with this.
I have eaten a salad everyday for lunch since starting this project.  I was thrilled to have a sandwich today, even if it was missing a piece of bread.
Afternoon Snack: Banana
Tumblr media
Orange you glad I said banana?
I was starving by the time snack time rolled around.  I even had my snack earlier than I normally do, so I am sure to be really starving by dinnertime!
I’m starving.  When’s dinner?
Dinner: Seared Salmon with Oven-roasted Potatoes and Broccoli
Tumblr media
Now here is a complete entrée......protein, starch and vegetable!  This is a seared piece of salmon with oven-roasted potatoes seasoned with salt, pepper and rosemary, served with broccoli that has low-fate cheddar cheese on it.
Hello white starch!! My, how nice it is to see you at dinner!
So glad she did not use American Cheese for her broccoli!
This was an actual, real meal, like many of you probably had for dinner tonight.
Dessert: One Krispy Kreme Glazed Donut
Tumblr media
I might not have Sweetgreen’s in my neck of the woods, but I do have Krispy Kreme!  Krispy Kreme is home to the world’s best yeast donut....and they are even better when they are hot, right off the line. If you haven’t had it, you don’t know what you’re missing.
Even though I pass Krispy Kreme almost every day, I only give in to the yumminess about twice a year, so this was a treat.
I certainly did not need this dessert, but I did not have a  problem finding room for it.  It was a total sugar bomb and I am not sure how well I’ll sleep tonight, but I’ll worry about that later.
My Verdict:
I love that Deshauna eats like she doesn’t give a shit if anybody cares.  She is young and beautiful and highly athletic.  Maybe one day she will make better choices, before it all catches up with her.
I was, however, hungry for an afternoon snack and hungry again by dinnertime.  I would have rather have had the donut earlier in the day and not for dessert.
As long as she was eating poorly, I would have liked something besides water to drink.  It was no problem getting to 10.5 glasses.
I felt like, despite her fame, she ate like a normal person, especially for her age.
People Magazine Verdict:
Her bagel and cream cheese breakfast is “highly processed”, (Agreed....but it tasted yummy!).  She suggests swapping the sandwich for a salad at lunch, (No....it was so nice to have a sandwich!), and adding peanut butter or almonds to her snack, (ok, I can agree on that.....I love peanut butter!).  The dinner is a good, balanced meal, (Agreed!).  The donut is a fat and sugar bomb, (Agreed!).

Vegan Rant
Just saw a commercial that said cow milk is better for you than almond milk. The reasoning? Well they said “some whole cow’s milk” only has 3 ingredients, while “some flavored almond milks” have six or seven ingredients.
First, let’s actually compare this on a level playing field shall we? “Whole almond’s milk” would only have 2 ingredients - almonds and water. And I’m sure “most flavored cow’s milks” have several (dozen) ingredients as well.
Then, let’s compare the nutritional density of dairy milk to almond milk. On a calorie basis alone, almond milk wins. Not only that, but almond milk has MORE calcium than milk, plus tons of other important nutrients, that are more easily absorbed than dairy milk. Like duh, almonds are fucking miracle foods. Water is clearly healthy. Cow excretions? Gonna say not so much...
And of course, we can’t forget the cruelty and environmental impact of dairy milk/farms.
(Plus, it’s fucking gross. Why would you drink that? Are you a baby cow? What is wrong with you?)
Next they’re going to compare some organic candy bar with 50 grams of sugar and whole fat dairy cream and whatever the hell else as being better than a fucking fruit salad because “well there’s 10 ingredients in a fruit salad, you have oranges and pineapple and strawberries and kiwis and raspberries and blueberries and well tons of berries and melons and mint and bananas... but hey this candy bar only has 6 ingredients so obvi soooo much better for you.”
