MC acts...different in their demon form

Surprise surprise, MC has their own personality and doesn't necessarily act like the brothers when they take on their demon forms. Sins manifest themselves in many different ways so who's to say MC is the same way as the brothers? To make it a little interesting, here's an MC who's avatar demon forms differ VERY much from the actual Avatars of Sin.

When Satan first saw MC lose it in his demon form he was embarrassed of them until he got his head out of his ass and realized "oh shit that me" and offered some of his coping skills for when the anger takes over🥺

MC does still have a few issues controlling their temper when the gluttony gets the better of them

If MC is in a demon form, Beel's might be one of the scariest, but it's definitely the most chill besides its appearance

In MC's defense, I would also be constantly enraged if I was always tired and forced to do hardcore anime training

Feral attic gremlin energy all over again, definitely takes some sort of stimulant to stay awake and smokes to unwind

The bad attitude mixed with the stimulants is giving nightbringer Satan on crack

Top 7 idol list?

I was saving this so I could draw it at some point but oh my god I am SWAMPED and can't see myself with time to do it so top list umm.

1- Shiver. I think this is self-explanatory. I love Asian women so much (I'm Asian before anyone starts raising any eyebrows) and her personality is so funny. She's incredibly theatrical and dramatic and has this big persona that she puts on that falls apart SO quickly when it comes to her friends but otherwise she is fierce!! A force to be reckoned with!! But also a sopping wet little guy.

2- Marina. I love women in STEM I LOVE women in STEM so much. My two immediate draws are like... Traditional-looking Asian woman and Smart Woman so. Marina is such a fascinating character and it's always a shame to see her so heavily uwu-ified, she's super smart and she has a lot going on besides just her attachment to Pearl!! But TBH her attachment to Pearl is part of what endeared her to me. Girl who has experienced The Horrors and is kind of a living supercomputer becomes sappy mush when Girlfriend Flashbang. She was also the one who lowkey got me into Splatoon simply by being the prettiest Nintendo character I'd ever seen as a kid.

3- Pearl. I hesitate to put Pearl above Frye because really they're super tight in my head but the only thing that knocks her up a peg is that her dialogue is a lot more fun for me to write in English (Frye talks really interestingly too! She genuinely speaks like an old man in the Japanese but that's just not reflected in the English). I love her so much because at so many moments where she could choose to be snarky or witty with Marina or anyone else, she always chooses kindness and she's always so supportive in her own spunky little way. She's so genuine and fun and silly and self assured and confident and she's so COOL. I hate drawing her hair though. I actually used to kinda hate Pearl as a kid because I fell for the forehead propaganda but I know better now.

4- Frye. LIKE I SAID in my head Frye and Pearl are tied. I love Frye she's such a sweetheart and she has such a fun fierceness about her. She cares deeply for her friends and she keeps her cool the best out of all of her friends in Deep Cut and she DANCES!! Her character design is one of the most interesting designs I've had the pleasure of drawing a shit ton of times and despite being team Shiver nearly every time I get really sad whenever she doesn't win Splatfests :( She deserves it (and tbh I think she deserved to be the leader of Deep Cut but don't @ me on that)

5- Marie. I wish I had more opinions on Marie but given that my earliest hands-on exposure to Splatoon was Sp2 when my friend used to let me walk around as her Octoling and play a little bit of Salmon Run (lost outpost my beloved wherefore art thou) and I've never played Sp1 or 2's campaign I can't really say anything about her other than I think she's really pretty. I think she's often characterized as the more flippant and low-energy one which is a cool thing to see in an idol (who are typically meant to be all smiles) but she's also really silly! She cracks a lot of jokes in the Sp3 campaign!! She's also just really cool and really pretty and white is one of my favorite colors

6- Big Man. LISTEN!!!! I LOVE HIM I REALLY DO BUT Frye-Pearl are soooo close together in my head and I feel only a little less strongly about him than Pearl but I really really love him. He's a blast to draw and honestly he's a lot more fun in the Japanese since Frye and Shiver have extremely thick accents and he's the only one who talks like Just Some Guy. He helps reign them in but he can rarely control them. He's such a lovable little dude.

7- Callie. Love the girl but I've never once resonated with her. I don't do well in the way of happy-go-lucky fun types but I don't hate her! I think she's got a lot of room to be interesting. My friend characterizes her with some flaws relating to like. Octarian prejudice which I think is pretty dope. And I'm not a huge pink fan... But I WILL say she is one of the most fun to draw.

Like, I hardly touched the COD tag despite really liking the characters bc the amount of untagged rape content made me so past disgusted with my own body that I was uncomfortable IRL for a few days at a time(also I'm asexual so it was extra unwelcome)

But then I saw your post in passing, took one look at the blog and was able to link the fics that made me feel so horrible just scrolling past

So after looking up their blog and blocking every blog that interacts or recommends them etc, my scrolling experience is much nicer and actually enjoyable in the COD tag, so thank you!

Good evening! yeah, no, my replies have been closed ever since I made a post talking abt schizophrenia (a disorder that I have!) where people thought it'd be funny to mock that & to try and trigger delusional thinking, tbh. however, I am glad that you got in touch!

honestly? as a survivor of both SA & rape, it makes my fucking skin crawl, and it's a large part of why I've left the fandom; seeing it across ao3, tumblr AND twitter was just retraumatising tbh, like, genuinely. and others have shared the same sentiment as well. it's disgusting how anyone can look at abuse and decide to make pornography of it, in all honesty, and it's mostly coming from "new" fans (as in: those who only have interest in tiktok edits of the characters but have never touched the games and won't). however, I'm so, so genuinely sorry to hear that you've had that experience and that you had to see any of that - the fact that you're ace, esp, is just... I'm so very sorry to hear that it's STILL happening tbh.

it's a harrowing experience to have, esp bc platforms WILL NOT take that kind of stuff down, as well as the racism, homophobia, saneism, and general bigotry; it's a really, really, harrowing thing and I am so sorry that you were subjected to that & that you were put through that 🫂

I am however very glad to hear that you've taken the correct steps in ensuring that you don't see it again, but if I may add: you can ALSO filter tags & content, so if you put in the general tags (eg "noncon") and the urls of those you've blocked, it DOES guarantee that you'll never see that! there's also browser extensions, I believe, which also allow it but I don't use desktop that much to confirm it (i mostly only ever use it for writing a lot at a time tbh), so I'd suggest also looking into that as well bc you can never be TOO safe and you can never be TOO cautious!

but even tho I'm no longer in the fandom & I only write for the characters that HAVEN'T been ruined by freaks yet, do know that if you wish to stop by again, you are MORE than welcome to; my blog will always be safe from that kind of grotesque bullshit & I do my best to block & report every single one that I come across as well! I may not be perfect by any means, but I do try to do the right thing and to ensure that I'm as inclusive as and that I do try to keep this blog a safe space <3

I'd also HIGHLY recommend checking out @ladygoth as well; she is FANTASTIC, and her writing is absolutely brilliant! she's an incredibly smart, talented, compassionate and amazing woman and is the ONLY redeemable thing about the cod fandom's existence!

I despise both Renesmee Cullen's and Hope Mikaelson's existences. Both characters are plot holes and shouldn't exist.

Renesmee Carlie Cullen is the daughter of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. She's half-human and half-vampire, and in Twilight, it was explained that only male vampires can have children with female humans. But that doesn't make any sense because vampires in Twilight don't have any blood in their bodies. Then, Stephanie Meyer explained that the venom that is in their bodies works similarly to the bodily fluids that are in humans. But if that was the case, then Bella shouldn't have gotten pregnant. She should have become a vampire after having sex with Edward. Renesmee is called 'half mortal and half immortal' by Aro, but how can a person be half mortal and half immortal? She's either mortal or immortal. She can't be both. Does she age, or does she not? Can she live forever, or does she have the lifespan of a human?

Now, onto Hope.

Hope Andrea Mikaelson is the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall-Kenner. She's a werewolf, vampire, witch tribrid. In the pilot episode of The Originals, it was explained that since Klaus was born a werewolf and became a vampire because of magic and not by drinking the blood of another vampire and dying with that vampire's blood in his system, he was able to conceive. Vampires in The Vampire Diaries are infertile and can not have children, and while Klaus is the world's first werewolf-vampire hybrid, he's still part vampire. He shouldn't have been able to have a child, which was confirmed in Legacies. The only reason Hope exists is because Malivore. So, if Malivore never existed, Hope would have never existed. She wasn't born because her father was created differently from traditional vampires, but because it is her destiny to defeat a mud monster.

Both characters are great (more so Hope because she was given her own show, and I grew to like her over Legacies' 4 season run. Renesmee was kinda there. Her CGI in the movies creeped me out, and she absolutely did nothing in the book), but their existence goes against the canons of their respective movies/books and show.

It's funny because both are created as plot devices to Bella and Klaus and they're meant to be the magical powerful baby of their universe, but their existence alone just makes it look ridiculous by breaking every single canon law.

As you said, Renaissance came out of nowhere. She was soo incredibly intelligent from the very first moment her parents made her, but apparently not smart enough to control her own strength seeing she broke several Bella's bones (like honestly, what the hell) and this demon spawn craved human blood for absolutely no logical reason other than Edward being a vampire. Ratatouille also could not be seen in the ultrasound or any other thing: she had a impenetrable amniotic sac because yes, exactly, her daddy is a vampire!

Honestly, I kinda feel bad for Ravioli. I've never finished reading Breaking Dawn (and I won't), it was such a corny book and I could only bring myself to the third part, where Bella spends time with baby Rasputin but I've heard interesting things to how the Cullen rise this sim. Apparently, Bella and Edward couldn't care less about their daughter, because as always they were more obssesed with each other and Rosalie did all the parenting, because the love birds couldn't be distracted with their CGI spawn. If I'm correct, Edward even called Bella more beautiful than Rim Job right in her face and instead of being mad, because their kid was right there, Isabella was just like "gosh edward, ily sm 😘😜😍"

Parents of the year.

Stephenie Meyer didn't care about Bella and Edward being parents: she just wanted the aesthetic that came with it, and she pulled the reasons of the human-vampire pregnancy out of her ass.

Actually, when I was in my twilight phase, I read a fanfic where Bella got pregnant, and the reason was a little more "coherent" than what Meyer gave: Having died so young, Edward's body "froze" his sperm and because he had remained a virgin for over a hundred years (lmao), he was able to get Bella, the first and only woman he slept with, pregnant. It's still shitty, and bad, but if they wanted them so badly to have a kid this was a better reason.

I just can't take Twilight books seriously. Apparently, there are no black vampires for a barely explained reason that is clearly racist (if I remember, the venom that vampires inject you during death just... removes your skin color), the mistreatment to the werewolves is just terrible, and there's Ratatunga too.

Now, moving to Hope Andrea Mikaelson, the white witch that is hated and loved in equal measures by the fandom. Oh my, this is gonna be interesting.

I have my moments with Hope, to be honest. Sometimes I completely adore her, and sometimes I just can't stand her. Her existence was completely pulled out of Pl*c's ass, who wanted to have her own version of Renameme so badly. Klaus shouldn't have even been able to procreate in the first place, because he was killed before Esther binded his werewolf side. Though vampires in tvd are more alive than dead, but that's a whole different thing. But clearly my point still remains.

I like Hope Mikaelson a lot more than Ragnarok Cullen, Summer Fontana/Danielle Russell and Mackenzie Foy are all really amazing and beautiful actresses who did great with the role they were given, but their characters completely broke canon. I like the tribrid more though because at least, she wasn't a fucking sim that aged five years in a week unlike Nestlé. The only way I could ever like Radioactive is by having her completely loathe her parents and family, especially because she was born in 2006 aka she's part of Gen Z.

Both characters shouldn't even exist in the first place, and Hope's existences is as much of a plothole as Riptide's. Renesmee gets more hate simply because of how she was in the womb and also because of how fast she grew, but they're both plotholes and shouldn't have been created no matter their popularity.

Finished Ward Arc 3

TL;DR: taking an indefinite hiatus you can all unfollow me now

okay so like. first things first; probably gonna take a break for my own sanity’s sake! not the Biggest fan of his writing and the fact that from everything i’ve heard it only gets worse from here Does Not Assure me. anyway,

tattletale is so fucking funny Victoria just shows up and goes “fuck youuuuuu” and blames her for the [????] that amy did (i still have no idea what amy did) and lisa’s just like. “yeah. whatever. stop being a cop idiot.” then fucks off and leaves. the thing about wildbow’s writing is that while lisa comes off as like. kind of an annoying (endearing) loser who feels the need to overexplain to literally everyone i’m pretty sure wildbow intended her as his take on a Holmes-like all-knowing smart person? that’s honestly way funnier than any of his jokes tbh

the thing about arc 3 is that it’s not particularly objectionable enough to be a fun hateread and the annoying bits are subtle enough and caked in enough to the character moments that it just kind of blends into a big slog. Tristan and the other one’s dynamic reads INCREDIBLY gauche and all of the other stuff i’ve seen as part of the book club don’t lead me to read it kindly. i think that’s the problem actually by reading it all at once as a group we’ve been inundated with so much Wildbow moments so quickly that i kind of stopped reading it “with love” as it were; I kind of just see the artifice of a deeply copbrained liberal sockpuppeting characters and getting them to compliment his writing.

I think a large part of this is that i don’t actually particularly like superhero settings wait no actually i just remember that like my #2 favourite web serial is a superhero one i think i just hate wildbow’s writing i think

yeah it’s like, i don’t think wildbow should write fight scenes they kind of suck. Victoria “flying brick / cop Dallon doesn’t really have an interesting enough skillset to carry 2 million words of fights around. sorry. all of it tends to boil down to “punch really hard physically or emotionally” and i’m Bored. even the fight scenes as metaphor for emotional moments is Boring. it doesn’t do enough.

and like, i can’t actually take the [whatever untitled group] thing seriously since i got spoiled that Tristan is gay and the other one is straight so like. this just comes off as blaringly homophobic in the “what if the world was made out of pudding” sense. fuck off

yeah it’s really really hard to justify continuing to read this, when i am told that it only gets worse from here. like, genuinely wondering why i should spend that time when instead i could finish reading good serials, or the VNs on my backlog, or do literally anything else

sorry Certified Wardheads (all three of you) but like. indefinite hiatus for my mental health this shit sands away at my brain. i could probably say more but like, unlike the other stuff i’ve subjected myself to (Tsukihime) i’m not even promised something like, Good good in spite of all the forks. there’s other stories where you just have to do jury duty for 40 hours instead of eating forks for the sphagetti. i have a newfound appreciation for VNs that are just boring before they get good now

when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?

i think i joined in late 2017! i had to go check, otherwise i would lied and said in 2018! i had just started uni some months earlier, it was a very hectic and weird time. i didn't think my schedule would allow me to stay in a group setting but hshq was too addictive! now i'm an old old old working woman, uni feels a forever ago

which characters have you written over the years ?

oh boy! antonia, levente, mieke, leonor, maybe someone else but only briefly?

what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?

i think the english plotline will forever stay with me. don't get me wrong, i love the croÿs, they've kept me so entertained and i love them, but the english plotline was intriguing and i liked the magnitude of it. it was also a fun way to comment on the english class system. in all of its absurdity, i feel like it was a smart plotline. one of the lighter and shorter plotlines that i've loved would be lisvente and in extension levente and isabela's hate for each other. lisvente helped me a lot with characterization in the beginning, and honestly i think i lost the plot on levente at some point and he became almost too kind. i wanted him to be genuinely despicable but i think i failed at that a bit. the fights with isabela were fun and i'm sort of sad they became quite civil towards the end.

what about other people's plotlines ?

i'm a big fan of italy. i think it was interesting plotline to follow and it kept surprising me ! and i have a soft spot for viveka and ilona and i wish we could have gotten more of them :(

who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?

weidly enough antonia. she wasn't too easy to write but at the height of the english drama, i think i got to write some of the most interesting replies. antonia allowed me to write about the politics that i actually knew something about. antonia was also a refreshing character among all the rich bitches of hshq. it was fun to offer a balancing force. levente's shit was mostly petty and while his plotlines were entertaining and it was fun to write someone horrible, he became a bit repetitive. i think if leonor's plots would have developed past the first threads, i would have fallen more in love with her. she was refreshing and i liked the opportunity to write a truly emotional character!

if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?

the very short plotline where fanni had to pretend to sylvia that milena's ultrasound pictures were hers. it was so funny and unexpected chain of events. i had fun!

is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?

i don't think so. all of my plotlines have more or less written themselves and i'm fine with the organic way things came to be.

what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?

maybe invente? i was so inactive that they never really recovered from the katya thing. i promised to isa that i'd finish one last levente x fanni thread so that's still in the works1

what is your favourite ooc memory ?

nothing particular comes to mind. i think i miss the times when people actually posted ooc stuff on the dash. the times when the dash was more ooc than ic were great because everyone were so invested!

what else would you like to say ?

i've had an amazing time with all of you. this group's been truly remarkable and i am incredibly happy that i wasn't flaky. i've been able to write intricate plotlines that never would have happened if people hadn't been loyal, motivated and innovative! i will literally miss everyone so much <3 ps. i'll write the 58th task soon!

Spoilers for Fontaine Archon Quest!!!

So, I just finished the final act for Fontaine today, and who boi was it interesting. Let me see how far I can rant before my ADHD gets to me.

Starting off with act 1. I already had seen some spoilers, but honestly I really enjoyed being Lyney's attorney. It was fun to investigate and present my ideas. The way they were able to involve the other case as well? Very nice plot twist. I only found it odd that the guy would choose such a figure to pin the blame on as Lyney, but thinking back, it all would have worked flawlessly for Marcel if only Halsey had been in the box.

The next act went more into Navia and it was so much fun talking with her. She is definitely one of my favorite characters. (Which honestly isn't saying a whole lot, but oh well.) Investigating, again, was fun and I thought it very fun how sus Marcel acted when we started talking. I also thought it was funny how frustrated Neuvillette got at our disturbances in trials. (Like your my husband, but please, let me and my gal be dramatic.) Anyway, I'm glad that murderer got his just desserts.

The next act got me a little upset. If you've ever seen me on Hoyolab, you would know I've adopted Freminet. So when he got hurt, I was so upset! Like, Wriothesley, I love you, but that's my son. I kind of jumped ahead there, but I did enjoy investigating once more. Also, that cutscene where Neuvillette stopped the Primordial Sea? AHSHDKSJ so good!!!

Now, the final act. This was an incredible experience. I loved that they didn’t really clue us in as players with the Furina trap. And then that the prophecy predicted that we would put her on trial? So so good. It gave me literal chills. And then with Focalors being a huge smart alec. Now, Furina's situation hit really hard for me. Like, she's been wearing this mask for five hundred years! Poor baby needs therapy! She's also now one of my favorite characters. And finally, Skirk. She's quite the enigma, but I wasn't that impressed. Maybe if I see more of her I'll have stronger opinions. (Her yeeting Childe was very humorous though)

IDFK! maybe she could calculate how many of her advances were being reciprocated!!! so i find it unlikely and in poor taste that she has no issues with adapting socially to some things, but is completely oblivious to others. it’s one thing if she was still and kid and oblivious socially? but she’s an extremely social person that is simultaneously incredibly scientifically minded. she would pick up on things. she would notice when things were off. god i’m upset about her characterization. she’s 23, she’s learned a lot! not just how to sleep around, she’s picked up some social stuff! and i’m fine with that part- if that’s the path they think fits her, then who am i to judge! i think it’s actually interesting in set up! but not how they substituted it for awareness. i think jade could’ve been given idk some cool marceline treatment! except werewolf? cool floaty werewolf chick that plays bass! anyways those are mainly my thoughts as of rn; i’m on part 22? i think john being wildly depressed makes sense and has so much weight. i think my boys strugglin. i think jade could be couch surfin and dating around while she tours and studies; no time to keep a fulfilling relationship in between because she’s forced to never be in the same place for too long. i love rose and kanaya, i’m just honestly not sure how to categorize my thoughts on them at this point in the story though. dave and karkat? love you guys you’re making this readable. dirk? choke on a dick. jake? get that dick. jane? stop.

Day 38

Talked to Eli about his…interesting new lady friends. They’re making me miss when he was hung up on Moon, honestly.

Anyways, turns out they’re just some exiled lesbians he took pity on. Families disowned them for kissing women, growing fangs, etc etc. Last I heard, Yas is single—maybe she’d want their numbers?

Woke up with a couple (bite?) sores on my neck, so I asked Eli about his pest control situation. He says everything’s fine, but I have my doubts.

Side note: Are metal allergies possible? Had to toss that silver crucifix—damn thing gave me hives.

Day 40

Confession: I’m worried about Eli.

There was an…incident a few days ago, and I hoped if I mulled it over enough times, it’d start making sense. Wishful thinking.

Was shaving the other morning when Eli barged in. Funny, I didn’t see him coming in my shaving mirror—can those things glitch? Thought that was only Smart Mirrors™️.

He started ranting about how “mirrors are for pussies,” and threw mine out the window??? Incredibly inconsiderate.

He insisted I didn’t need to shave because I’d look hot with a beard. How do you tell if someone’s joke-flirting or actual flirting?

Day 45

Have I mentioned Eli’s weird about blood now? Unsure I like it.

Cut myself on some loose board (this castle needs renovation), and he freaked out. Wouldn’t even look at it! Wailed about “blood being too precious to waste” and ran away. Huh.

Townsperson banged on the door today, telling Eli to stop eating people. I opened to tell him that was nonsense, but I noticed he smelled...appetizing? Like a gyro wrap.

He made himself scarce before I could say anything, but…kind of hurtful, honestly. I know I’m a bit gangly, but I’m not that ugly, am I?

Day 47

Finally got a wifi signal in here! Only took 4 hours of fiddling to make Eli’s TV work.

We binged Castlevania today. Eli’s favorite character is Dracula, supposedly because he’s “such a badass and is gonna kick the asses of every one of those lame humans.” I think it has more to do with Dracula having a soft spot for a smart, good-hearted human who he goes absolutely batshit avenging, but Eli’d never admit to this.

Side note: Is it hypothetically possible for one’s reflection to gradually grow more and more translucent and dead-looking? Asking for a friend.

Day 50

Bad news: Eli ate the mailman today, and I…may have helped.

Walked in on him draining the guy’s blood, and naturally demanded an explanation. Eli said to settle down because “there’s plenty to share!” What an insane suggestion.

But since the mailman was already dead...

In my defense…best AB positive I’ve ever had. Not that I’ve had much. I’ve dabbled a couple times, but who hasn’t?

In better news: Wearing the “amnesia” down! We’ve been reading through the library together, and Eli’s instinctively remembering what kinds of fantasy and sci-fi I like. He remembers me—I FEEL it.

Day 60

Okay! Know what’s going on now.

We were reading Buffy comics when Eli clutched his head and started shrieking. Everything came back at once.

After I calmed him down, he spilled everything. Getting involved with a Kung-Fu-practicing vampiric “organization” promising nigh-unlimited badassery. Being taken to Europe, undeadified, and given a blood-only diet…none of which sharpened his memory.

Admitted I’m not inheriting a Greek estate, and I only came to find him. He tearfully told me that’s a shame. He imagined us building a life there. Maybe raising some goats?

Fuck it—if he wants, I’ll make that happen.

Day 140

Been a while! Busy, busy!

Surprisingly easy talking “distant family members” into giving us a land plot. Maybe it’s superstition. Maybe it’s healthy fear. Regardless, people don’t like saying no to weird, sharp-toothed out-of-towners.

Made Eli promise he’ll discuss with me before joining any new martial arts-related cults (especially ones that strand him in isolated castles as soon as he “isn’t evil enough”). Now he only feeds every so often! We’ve gone through some neighbors, but it’s an improvement over Transylvania.

Also, our eldest nannygoat gave birth! Eli named the kids Hellraiser, Slayer, and Wrathchild. I love them.

Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13 Abridged Review

Originally posted August 4th, 2016

Team Four Star shows off their effortless mastery of clever comedy.

On a purely structural level, Super Android 13 is probably the strongest of the Dragonball movie source material that Team Four Star has yet to work with. The androids themselves don’t require any convoluted explanation; they’re just the leftover scraps Dr. Gero has to rely on now that Android 17 and 18 have turned against him, and they kickstart the conflict immediately by attacking Goku in a public place, forcing our heroes out into the arctic to deal with them (which for all of Trunks’ mumbling, is a nice change of scenery from the usual desert wasteland).

These androids are a real threat too, forcing Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta to all go Super Saiyan in order to defeat them, only to find out that even a Super Saiyan can’t stand up to the fully powered Android 13. The conclusion to this fight is excellent as well, with Goku defeating 13 through a creative combination of his two most powerful abilities, rather than simply “punching him harder.”

Team Four Star even manages to avoid the stereotypical characterization of the villains used in these movies, imbuing each of the antagonists with a personality that goes beyond “the one with an accent,” “the one with a weird power,” and “the dumb one.” Android 15 is an homage to protagonists of classic Blaxploitation, walking, talking, and fighting with a near Super Saiyan level of swagger as he drinks himself into oblivion to numb the hollowness inside. Android 14 on the other hand is a quiet, introspective warrior, who from what we see seems to simply be trapped in the wrong crowd.

Both of these characters have fitting ends as well, with 15 being taken down by the prince of Saiyan swagger and utterly humiliated in the process, as Vegeta throws a dog treat at him right before he explodes. 14’s end is fitting as well, as he and Trunks clash and he realizes his impending doom, ending his life by observing that metal has both given him life and taken it away.

Android 13, the primary antagonist, is fairly shallow by comparison. After all, there’s not too much more to him than a funny southern accent, an obsession with trucker hats, brute strength, and a little outright racism.1 It’s not exactly a deep character, especially when compared to the depth Team Four Star has achieved with characters like Cooler (who originally was literally just Freeza by a less clever name).

There is a part of me that feels it would be unfair to southerners to not criticize this shallow portrayal of their culture, but honestly, I had too much fun watching it to really care. RicePirate’s performance is incredibly charismatic, and even though 13 is shallow and kind of terrible, you can’t help but be endeared to him a little. KaiserNeko’s editing and sound design certainly helps here as well, as he makes sure that watching 13 beat the shit out of our protagonists is fun and impactful.

The rest of the movie’s strengths are pretty simple: Team Four Star jam packs these twenty minutes full of really smart jokes, making nods to the fraught relationship Vegeta and Trunks have when it comes to androids, joking about the length of time it takes the Saiyans to actually go Super, and poking fun at themselves in a series of brilliant fourth wall breaks at the end, wherein a narrator walks out and another steps in to criticize the lack of effort he’s perceived in the series since season 2. He may well have a point, not because Team Four Star has gotten lazy in season 3, but because they pull of making Super Android 13 so entertaining, compelling, and funny that it looks absolutely effortless.

Stray Observations

113’s racism is actually kind of interesting, given that he calls out our protagonists for thinking 15’s defect is his color, but talks down to Piccolo later on due to his color. I’m not quite sure what it says about him, but it’s definitely the most nuanced part of his portrayal.

No quotes in the Strays today, just because this episode is so chock full of funny dialogue that quoting everything I like would fill up a full page.

So these Alien Stage videos by VIVINOS has changed me and I’ll never be the same and it’s time to hype fixate right now. And so, here’s some characterizations I have on these characters based on basically nothing:

Mizi (Pink Haired Girl): She might be seen as a bit of an underdog, on the shy side so doesn’t show off her vocals often, coupled with low self esteem too. But, unlike the others (except Till), she actually really likes singing, regardless of it being her best shot at survival. I think despite everything, she’s a very kind person, maybe secretly helping her fellow humans get through the days without them ever knowing, but Sua saw, and maybe that’s how her interest peaked in Mizi. I think after Sua’s death she changes; before she accepted their enslavement as just a part of life, but after Sua dies she becomes absolutely reckless, doing whatever it would take to make humans free, to ensure this never happens again, even if it means her own downfall. I think while Sua was the smarter of the two, Mizi is good at coming up with elaborate schemes that have a high chance of not even working, which is why she never acted on them, but after Sua dies she just doesn’t care anymore.

Sua (Black Haired Girl): Maybe a bit of a child prodigy along side Luka, the ones that were expected to rise to the top. Of course, that only ended up being true for Luka (I think both she and Luka were probably close in that ‘we’re talented but our talents are used to entertain those that enslave us so lets be cynical about it together’ kind of way). I think she’s a very quiet person, not seeing a point in talking if it’s not necessary. She can come off as cold, but if you’re close to her, she’ll treat you very warmly, allowing herself to actually be a very silly, funny person if she’s comfortable. Of course, she’s slow to trust, and the only person she trusts completely and truly is Mizi. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Mizi, I think she would have given up trying to live, trying to play the alien’s games. She’s very smart, and I think she’s one of the few humans that see a future where humans aren’t enslaved. She probably talks to Mizi about this a lot, able to see that possibility, and this probably adds flames to Mizi’s desire to fulfill this request after Sua dies.

Till (Silver Haired Boy): He’s not an amazing singer, he’s okay but nothing special, what he really excels in is instruments, with guitar being his specialty. I think his love of instruments is probably completely pure, where as the others don’t feel much love to their singing, just using it to survive in this world, his music is important to him. He doesn’t see it as just something to appease their enslavers, but something he enjoys. But, I think the aliens took that and twisted it, for it seems like there’s an odd sort of leash on him. Perhaps they mutilated his throat, making the sound of his guitar come out of his mouth when he sings, or just something like that. He hates that, he doesn’t want that, he just wants to play his instruments regularly. In personality I think he’s very straight forward, incredibly blunt and doesn't’ realize when people get upset about it, but if you tell him it upset you then he’ll apologize and know to not say that again. With Ivan, I think he sees him more as a close friend, but I’m assuming it’ll turn romantic.

Ivan (Black Haired Boy): For sure very much into Till; I think maybe it stemmed from they were kids and how Till was obviously so different from them when involving music, loving it and being in his own little world (Of course Mizi was into her singing but was much more private about it, and her and Till probably bonded about how they actually enjoy what they do but the enslavers keep getting in the way of that). Starting from when they were kids I think both Ivan and TIll looked out for each other, making sure the other will make it through. Also, I lowkey think Ivan is an amazing actor, able to command a presence, to manipulate how others, especially their enslavers, see things. I think this probably came from since they are under the authority of these aliens, then he knows he needs to lie in order to get away with things. While I don’t think he’s a malicious person, he is quite used to getting what he wants thanks to his lying and manipulating skills.

Hyuna (Brown Haired Girl): She lost someone very important to her as a child, that boy she imagined running behind her. I think she blames Luka for this, and perhaps he was involved somehow even though it wasn’t really his fault, and so she hates him, probably wants him to die (although I’m guessing the two of them are going to end up being romantically involved, very enemies to lovers of them). She’s probably very good at bending the rules in secret, able to get and do certain things the other humans would never dream of doing, but she’s very careful about it. I bet they’re not even allowed to smoke, but she found a way. She honestly probably has a network of people that owes her favors for getting them things. She’s just a very sneaky person, knowing when to keep secrets and knowing when to use them to her advantage.

Luka (Blond Haired Boy): So he’s very popular among those aliens, a huge celebrity. But he hates the attention, is disgusted that he’s the ‘favorite’ of those that oppress him, of all of them. He probably has to attend all these events, being shown off like a prized dog, having to act a certain way, and he’s just sick of it. It definitely makes him an outcast among the other humans, as he’s probably getting special treatment for being the favorite. They mostly keep their distance from, but Hyuna, the girl that hates him in a far more personal way, talks to him often, insults him often, and ironically, in Luka’s eyes, that makes her the person he’s closest with. I think overall Luka is a very apathetic person, probably used to just gritting his teeth and doing what is needed of him, no matter how vile the requests. He finds himself trying to cling to his humanity, to think of himself as more than what they see him as, and it grows weaker by the day.

That One Guy That Was Tied Up Watching Luka On A Screen And Crushing A Red Flower: I think this is the boy Hyuna lost when she was a child, the one Luka was inadvertently responsible for. I think maybe they all think he’s dead, but really he’s tied up, experimented on. I can’t tell if he hates Luka or is in love with him or both.

finished braiger a few days ago!!

okay. this show is wild bc it starts out really fun and interesting, but then the main writer had to leave in the middle of it so there's a rut in there and it's dull....but then the last like 15 eps REALLY pick up and like. yeah this is good.

like the premise of a more adult mecha show with main characters that are tough ass mercs who fuck, drink and murder while also being really funny and having their own code of honor is great, and like it gets used in the first 10 and last 15 eps to nice effect!

the show kinda loses its bluster by the middle bc the main writer kinda wasn't available to do that part so we get a bunch of mid ass eps by other dudes and it almost made me drop it, but then it REALLY picked up when khamen khamen got introduced so it's okay. he's an all timer mecha villain like. mf is smart as fuck and gangster as hell. he ALWAYS wins and you don't get frustrated over it bc like....it really makes sense? and he's really entertaining to watch.

anyways I LOVE the J9 gang they are all just this serious professional russian dude with a whip, and his three horny cunty ass funny idiot mercs. they REALLY carry the show when it focuses on them bc their chemistry is amazing and the VAs evidently had a lot of fun playing them.

the animation and designs are....pretty outdated and janky even for the time, but the concept is so strong and the directing, music and writing try SO hard in the better eps that you can't help but cheer for it when it's good. like i get why the show became so popular, esp with high school and college girls....and why it got swept by the other 80s stuff. but like. damn i'm just happy this wasn't a waste. like the middle part had me disheartened but i came out REALLY liking this one.

like at its best it's just a really fun and charming show with a great cast and premise. also the J9 gang is all hot funny ass people so that's a bonus. it's a good show. also the finale arc is incredibly fucking insane and deranged, it was A RIDE

also this show apparently was the first one to use "otaku" in anime? AND also had the first sex scene in a primetime anime show. wild stuff.

i did hear the main writer learned from braiger and did most of baxingar and sasuraiger so i think those two will be more consistent!

like honestly with the caveat that it becomes a bit dull and slow in the middle, i would say this was a fun watch. i love braiger!! it's a good show!! i'm glad that it used its potential AND glad to be part of the legion of women who love it.

also btw yun kouga started out making BL doujins for this show lmao

I want to state I don't hate Kristoph or anything, I think I just get irritated sometimes at the attention the male characters in ace attorney get. I love Kristoph as a character and I've drawn and written about him a lot because he's cool! I just wish more people could give the leniency to female characters that they gave male ones. and Dahlia n Kristoph are good examples of similar characters for me.

why people should try to give Dahlia Hawthorne a chance (imagine this has been presented like a PowerPoint)

- she's so fucking funny first of all. fail girl of all time.

- literally got roasted so hard she went to hell

- so so much potential in her character

- Capcom mishandled her because they hate women but we don't have to hate women as well

- she killed a pedo, and someone who likes Britain (girl win!)

- she technically stopped Godot from his coffee addiction with an.. intervention. and it worked for a few years. to be polite.

- a lesbian

- transgender

- her backstory is actually there even if it's a mess. unlike other poison loving gay ass characters.. (THIS IS A JOKE PEOPLE PLS DONT HATE ME I'M BEING SILLY N JESTFUL!)

- since her backstory and character is a mess you can just interpret her however u want and ur right!

- Capcom genuinely wrote her character while hating her and forgot that she was a child when Terry Fawkes "dated her" and that she was even YOUNGER when she apparently manipulated her father into dropping off Iris and abandoning her at a temple?? like you were so right for pointing this one out.

- It really feels like the narrative hates her more than it likes being a good story and smooth ride. It just wants to demonise her over and over again than write an impactful journey of a character becoming filled with hatred and jealousy.

- my femcel queen

- objectively the funniest character and also the most tragic (to me so actually not at all objective but but but)

- really good showing of how even though she was so distant from the Fey family and her bio mother, she still suffered due to their family's generational trauma and baggage.

- cool design!!!!!!!!!!

- incredibly underrated for the final villain of the ace attorney trilogy. Like other villains in ace attorney are cool and all but pls pls pls I know she's not a twink in a homoerotic relationship but she's so cool..

I think Dahlia Hawthorne could be really interesting if people gave her a chance and I really wish they would because as a person or someone who is seen as a girl a lot and demonised a bit due to my uh.. issues.. I find myself relating to parts of her character. Also evil women go fucking crazy, love em. This also kind of goes for Iris as well, she doesn't... really ever get talked about outside of her relationship with Phoenix n that's in part fault of the fandom AND Capcom (my sworn enemies.)

omg y'all are feeding into my brain rot i may actually have to write it 💀

it wouldn't exactly follow the roles of the characters in tlt because i'd be putting completely different characters into this universe and i'd want to bring a good mix of the botw/totk themes into the tlt universe, but okay my very loose collection of Thoughts (spoilers for tlt ahead, putting beneath a read more):

- Zelda as the 9th house adept who is struggling with achieving her full necromantic powers

- Link as her cavalier that she constantly berates and takes her anger out on because he's so good at his role and she is not

- Despite not being as in control of her powers, Zelda is still as smart as Harrow is, and understands the theorems behind necromancy incredibly well, she just struggles to apply them

- Actually I think that's Zelda's whole problem, she's so smart that she gets so into the weeds of the mechanics of necromancy that she forgets to see the forest for the trees

- I think Zelda would be as religiously dedicated to the tomb as Harrow, I think she would still have opened the tomb and fallen in love with Alecto (who would be Hylia in this AU) (Zelda is absolutely a bisexual icon to me, personally, and i am right) (so is Link but that is not relevant atm) and I think her parents would have killed themselved as Harrow's did

- ohohoh the psychological fuckery between Zelda and Link in Canaan House

- ohohoh the tenderness of the pool scene w/ Zelink

- other houses' adepts and cavs come from the pool of characters the player directly interacts with in BOTW

- not sure who would take the role of the 6th house because Palamedes and Camilla are So Important To Me but whoever it ends up being will retain the dynamic between them because honestly they are as much my favorite characters as Gideon and Harrow are

- the original lyctors come from the original champions that died pre-BOTW

- honestly I don't know who would be John but I kind of like the idea of just keeping him as John because I think calling him "Jod" is so fucking funny

- Link as the self-sacrificing son of Jod? Literally Jesus? yes? yes?

- debating on if I would make the races of Hyrule human analogs (like instead of a Goron being a literal rock person, just like making them a huge, beefy, muscly dude) or keeping them as-is

- I don't think Link would be as much of a Jock Dudebro as Gideon is, but in the games through his dialog options we see that he has a sense of humor and is kind of a little shit, I think it would be interesting to see the opposite of his character arc in this AU: going from someone who's a joker to someone who takes his duty so seriously that he completely shuts down and stops talking

anyways those are my preliminary thoughts, if enough people would be interested in reading it I may write it! rn i'm trying to finish up some old fics for another fandom and also work on my poetry and original fiction offline, but if this is something that enough people want to read from me specifically I may consider writing it. anyways ty for letting me word vomit my half-baked ideas anon ily

Bahamutgreen’s Favorite Games of 2023!

IT'S TIME!! Time for a brand new Game of the Year list for 2023! I played a LOT of stuff this year, I'm genuinely kind of impressed with myself for playing so much. I had a lot to sift through, and went back and forth on different choices a lot. But ultimately I think you'll be unsurprised in where this list is headed.

Since in 2023 I've become very into using this blog, I've tried to fancy up this GOTY post with some new visuals and formatting. If you're interested, I wouldn't mind some feedback on it for next year. I'm not aiming for "high quality professional" but I wouldn't mind "cool and makes it easier to understand the list"

And just like last year, there's multiple lists. 2 categories are represented here : Games I played in 2023 BUT released prior to 2023. And games I played in 2023 that actually released in 2023. Each category has 5 winners and 5 runner-ups. The lists are also KIND of ordered, but ordering wasn't as important for runner-ups.

But without further ado, please enjoy reading what games I had the most fun with in 2023!

DIGIMON STORY : CYBER SLEUTH

Opening up strong! #5 is Digimon Cyber Sleuth! This was my first true experience in the wide world of Digimon, and I had an absolute BLAST with it! It's a fantastic monster tamer RPG that makes the genre more traditional and ultimately more palatable to someone like me. I loved learning about new Digimon, the visuals were nice, and even when the game was rough around the edges, it was typically very funny. Only reason I think this game can't be higher is because out of everything here, it really does just drag on until it sort of lost me towards the end. Groundramon is my new favorite Digimon, by the way!

ENCHANTED ARMS

I got this game a good few years ago, and was VERY happy I finally made the time to play it. It's a very unique and interesting RPG, and something you could really only get from the incredibly odd world of Xbox 360 JRPGs. The game has a fantastic soundtrack, interesting cross between turnbased and strategy RPG gameplays, and a story that really grew on me. It's certainly aged a lot and is not perfect. But while it pissed me off probably more than anything else on this list, I also feel like it left an impact on me larger than a lot of what I played this year. And I really think back on it fondly.

FIRE EMBLEM : THREE HOUSES

Even as a fan of Fire Emblem, I'll admit. This one came as a shock to me! I went in expecting this to be an incredibly tedious and boring game, but ultimately came out INCREDIBLY happy with it. Great characters, fantastic strategy gameplay, and an interesting story too smart for me to understand really pulled me in. Playing this reminded me how good a good strategy RPG can be, and I'm hoping to play some more in 2024 if I get the chance. While it's not my favorite of the 2 FE games I've played, and I have a lot of issues with its story and some characters, I cannot deny how much I absolutely adored this game.

RPG TIME! THE LEGEND of WRIGHT

I wanted to play this game basically the moment it was announced, but sadly it slipped under my radar for a minute. Thankfully I was finally able to make the time to play this as my first RPG of 2023! And even that far back, I cannot stop thinking about it. This game is absolutely FANTASTIC! It's funny, cute, creative, charming, fun, and so many other adjectives. It gets a little slow and boring at times, but I think that can be looked past. It's a shame more people did not play this as I truly think it's a game for everyone. RPG fans, RPG haters, people who don't care one way or another. It's amazing and if you only look into one game on this entire post, make it this one!

POKEMON : EMERALD VERSION

Personally, this one is also a shocker to me! Listen, I love Pokemon. I really do. But the main series games have always been a little touch and go for me when compared to any other Pokemon media. But, honestly, there was no question that this game would end up SOMEWHERE on my list! I just had a genuine blast playing through it. Part of it is nostalgia, Firered was a deeply important game to me as a kid and I adore the GBA. Part of it is a bit of bias as I just like gen 3. But also I seriously just came out of this game feeling really good. Currently in my project to play the whole main series for the first time, it's my favorite game so far! My only issue is that they don't live up to some game mechanics and the story is a little messed up compared to Ruby and Sapphire's take on the tale. Even still I'm going back and forth between this and RPG TIME for #1. But I think nostalgia, my love for GBA graphics and sounds, and my love for the Hoenn Dex, bump this one just over the edge!

Another game that I got long long ago that just... sorta never got beaten and gathered dust in the old collection. Until, for some reason, suddenly, my brain chemicals told me I HAD to give it another go. And HEY, wouldn't you know it, it's good! I REALLY enjoyed this! Usually games that are super hard leave me feeling irritated when I win, but Cuphead actually made me feel good when i overcame it which is something I don't usually say. Genuinely cute visuals and music to boot, Cuphead is great!

- 4 - HATSUNE MIKU PROJECT DIVA F 2nd

I'm looking at it now and this whole post is filled with things I'm SHOCKED I enjoyed at all, let alone put onto my GOTY list. But while I'm more into rhythm games than I used to be, it's still not my favorite by any means. But I really had to give some props to this game. Genuinely playing this on the vita while in my bed pulled me out of a bad slump that almost gave me horrible gamer block. And I thank Miku so much for being there to bring me out of that funk. I had a blast playing through this!

- 3 - PIKMIN

For a long time, I've been interested in Pikmin. But I could not ever get myself to beat it. Until this year! I decided to give it another go and while it certainly was tough, frustrating, and even a big scary at times. I loved it! When I beat it I thought "thank GOD I'm done dealing with those stupid little Pikmin.... but damn... I wish I was playing more of it..." So I think it's safe to say I'll be returning to the series sooner rather than later. The graphics still hold up AMAZINGLY well, lovely music, great character design. Fun time all around. I get it now.

- 2 - METROID : ZERO MISSION

Metroidvanias... Not a fan of them, I'll admit. I've only been able to beat 2 in my life time. Those being Ori and TMNT Radical Rescue. UNTIL THIS YEAR! I decided I wanted to try beating my first Metroid game, and went with this cause I used to play it on my modded Xbox as a kid. And I'm shocked to say, I LOVED this! I'm still not super into Metroidvanias so idk how I'd do on a larger more complex map, but I loved exploring around. And the Zero Suit section was genuinely SO exhilarating and some of the most horrific, tense, and fun gameplay I've had with a game in a while. I mean it! This was such an unexpected treat!

- 1 - BAYONETTA

While I figured I was gonna enjoy this one, I can safely say I did NOT expect it to be an absolutely BRILLIANT game that was so crazy and incredible. This game is so stupid and over the top and crazy in all the ways I absolutely LOVE! I love the aesthetics, the themes of killing gods and angels, and I loved the spectacle, I liked the crazy story (even if I didn't fully grasp it lol), I LOVED how cool it was and how badass Bayo is. And I straight up loved how sexy it was! It's very goofy but the game totally knows the sex appeal is kinda funny, but also they do it good! Bayonetta absolutely rules and I was so impressed with this one! Call me a fan! I can't wait to try 2!

THE MURDER OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

I spent a long time splitting hairs over what should be included on the main list and what should be a runner up (I'm writing this part the next day, even!) But there were 2 games I had no intentions of taking off the list: Venba and The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog! Murder of Sonic is a visual novel which isn't usually my type of thing, but this game is so funny and charming and such a wonderful love letter to Sonic it's hard not to be into it! Ultimately I think Murder of Sonic wins out over Venba just slightly because it had a final boss and a finale that got surprisingly emotional. And you know I'm a fiend for plots and bosses in games that don't need them lol. This game was incredibly charming, Shadow wasn't annoying in it, Rouge was hot in it, everyone had fun outfits, there was a Sonic Rivals reference, they made a new hot milf for it. I don't have much bad to say about it, and I think it may have been my favorite Sonic thing from this year!

SEA OF STARS

Sea of Stars... Oh how I wanted this game to be GOTY. I was so excited it, but ultimately, the way the finale of the game went just CRUSHED IT for me. I hated most of the tail end of this game, I won't lie, and that's why I can't really bring it higher. But MAN the 2/3 prior to the final fetch quest collectathon junk was SO good! And I can't just look past that. A love letter to the whole genre, Sea of Stars has AMAZING combat, AMAZING visuals, AMAZING music, AMAZING Garl and the rest of his friends too. There's a LOT to love here, I like the world and again I was particularly fond of the gameplay both in combat and the way you traverse with grappling hooks and wind and what not. I'm disappointed I didn't enjoy myself with it more, but I'm still VERY glad I spent the time with it I did. Maybe the DLC and sequels will improve on it!

SUPER MARIO BROS. WONDER

I fancy myself more of a 3D Platformer kinda person, but god DAMN do I love a good 2D Platformer from time to time. And Mario Wonder absolutely delivered on that front. As a fan of the NSMB games, this took everything good about them, took out everything bad about them, and made something new and truly incredible! A wonderful art style, finally embracing more of the expansive Mario cast, and being filled with TONS of genuinely fun new moves and genuinely fun new level gimmicks. Mario Wonder was such a treat that I loved until the very last drop! The only reason it isn't higher is because I personally think it's missing a special final kick to really push it over the edge. Personally, I think this might come from its lack of impactful boss fights. It's not perfect, but it sure is DAMN close!!

HI-FI RUSH

Can we talk about HI-FI Rush??? PLEASE I've been waiting all year to talk to your guys about HI-FI Rush! DUDE!! THIS GAME WAS SO GOOD! I'm not kidding, this game was AMAZING! I wasn't super interested in it, but wound up kinda just getting my hands onto it due to fortunate circumstances. And WOW, was I wrong to not be interested. This game is SO good! Fantastic visuals, genuinely HILARIOUS game, amazing aesthetic, super fun rhythm based action combat (maybe the first time I've TRULY really loved this type of combat) and some fantastic characters made HI-FI Rush such a highlight of the year for me. Seriously, this game was SO good! From the moment I beat it, I knew this was gonna be my game of the year, I'm not joking. I've been holding onto this basically since the start of 2023. I'm so sad this game didn't do well at ALL because it deserves so much love that so many other games got this year. This is another one that if you have to pick one game to try, please consider giving that honor to Hi-Fi Rush! It was only beaten out by one super obvious thing on my list!

But before we get to that super obvious thing. I think it'd be fun to spice things up a bit by doing the new games of 2023 runner ups FIRST! So lets go ahead and get through that!

- 5 - SUPER KIWI 64

Too many times has Siactro not been acknowledged on these GOTY lists. THAT HAS TO END! Super Kiwi 64 wasn't perfect by any means. But I would be lying if I told you it maybe wasn't one of, if not my favorite feeling game of 2023. The movement and moveset of Kiwi just felt SO good. And I genuinely hope this isn't the last we've seen of the character, I will pay good money to buy a bigger, longer sequel to this game! Just... please keep the scary stuff to a minimum!

- 4 - SLUDGE LIFE 2 // THE BIG MUD SESSIONS

This is another one that sadly, kind of underwhelmed me. Sludge Life 1 is one of my favorite indie games ever made, no joke. I adored it so much. But sadly, Sludge Life 2 just didn't click in the same way. I still enjoyed it a lot though! So I wanted to give it a shoutout, and I almost enjoyed Big Mud Sessions more. But since it's kind of a demo for 2, I decided to bundle them together in one. It's my list. Again, wasn't thrilled with SL2, but I'm hoping SL3 can really come out swinging and hook me all over again!

- 3 - PIZZA TOWER

I'm sure some of you know this, but I am a HUGE Wario Land fan. I LOVE that series. And not just land, but like, any Wario Platformer / Action game. I love Wario World too and I ADORE Master of Disguse. I just really like those games, and I'm seriously so happy to see more and more games try to take up the mantle that was left behind! Pizza Tower isn't perfect by any means and a lot of stuff has come out about the devs I have not fully looked into. But I did enjoy this game even in spite of some of its flaws. And also I'm just happy to see a fat hairy dude as the protagonist of a platformer again! I like seeing them be capable and go on adventures instead of just being gross assholes, it's genuinely nice.

- 2 - WARIO WARE : MOVE IT!!

Making it onto the list at the last possible moment, but I had to put it on there! Maybe it's just the honeymoon phase, but I REALLY liked this game! It felt like a true return to form for Warioware and REALLY REALLY impressed me with a lot of its minigames. It's not perfect, personally I think it's too short and ultimately that makes it slightly too underwhelming to be on the main list. But it is VERY good and I had a fantastic time playing through it!

- 1 - VENBA

The runner up for #5 on the main list, in a big battle with Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog! Ultimately while Sonic won out, but I still LOVED this game and there was no question in my mind it would be somewhere on the list! This game has a wonderful art style and music, I genuinely loved solving the puzzles, and even though it's short, it's really fun and the story made me genuinely emotional! I even tried Biryani because of this game and I LOVED it! (It was with Goat which is so good.) Venba is hot, and her game is really charming!

And last, but not least! It's time to reveal my Game of the Year 2023! It's... so obvious isn't it... Like, the fact I haven't mentioned it yet is just a dead give away isn't it? If you know you know, try to act surprised as you scroll down to reveal:

SUPER MARIO RPG

Can you blame me? Can you really blame me? This has been my favorite video game of all time since at least 2011-2012. I have a lot of thoughts about this remake I want to gush about when I get the energy. But for now I can tell you I absolutely LOVED this remake! It is an amazing redo of the original game. Genuinely, if you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing Super Mario RPG before, this is a WONDERFUL way to do it! However good you think the remake is, it's better! Fantastic upgrades to the visuals, music, gameplay, the whole thing feels FANTASTIC! If you'd never played it before or if you're looking to reexperience it, you have GOT to try Super Mario RPG Remake! The original has been such an important game to me for YEARS, genuinely influencing me and my art so much, and I never thought it would get any kind of follow up ever again. Let alone a remake with so much love poured into it. That's why I am proud to call it my Game of the Year 2023!

And that's that on that! Another year come and go! I played a lot of stuff in 2023, but even still it was hard to get my hands on enough new releases to do a 10 list. But thankfully I still ended up leaving off important games from both lists! Chained Echoes and Paradise Marsh were both indies I really enjoyed. And I'm still very impressed with Hello my name is Val and He Fucked the Girl Out of Me. It's genuinely nice that you can play SO much and still miss so much AND STILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT EVERYTHING ON 4 SEPERATE TOP 5 LISTS! I don't know everything coming out in 2024, but we have some things I'm SO stoked for like TTYD remake and Peach Showtime. And judging by the absolutely amazing surprises that ended 2023, I think we're in for a treat in 2024!

2023 was really tough. I won't mess around. Moving was exceptionally hard for me and I was out of commission for a while. 2024 is looking to be more of the same, I'm moving again and I feel like it'll be a really hard and potentially even harsher moving process. I'm scared to do it. I'm not looking forward to it. But it has to be done, I literally don't have a choice. So, we'll see what I can do.

Hopefully I don't get caught in the same trap I did this year. My health has deteriorated a lot from a little less exercise and a little more eating due to intense stress and depression (I think lol). I did so much work and burnt out so often, and still felt like I didn't do ANY work this year. But I won't let that impact how 2024 goes, it's a new year and a new refresh.

There's some exciting stuff on the way next year, things will get better. I hope 2023 was better for you than it was for me. And even if it wasn't, let's not let the first few days, weeks, or months, of the new year set the tone for the whole year. Let's make it an amazing new year, and let's do a lot of gaming in 2024! I love you all! Let's do this!
