Note
it seems we may be getting piece of my world in full soon!!
Tumblr media
Oh, you mean in the Disney Twisted-Wonderland Official Soundtrack? I see "Piece of my world" listed in disc 4 as its final song (however, please note that this is not specified as “full”). A twistunes/rhythmic version and a “full” NRC Tribe version are also listed in disc 3.
Let's wait until the soundtrack actually gets released (on the 29th of May, I believe) before we get our hopes up 😅 because it’s possible that it’s NOT the full version, since it is not specified. It would definitely be nice to get the full version of the song after four years though—and it's a nice way to wrap up the soundtrack!

OBSCURED BY CLOUDS, 1972
Wedged between Meddle and The Dark Side Of The Moon, Pink Floyd released Obscured By Clouds. The band's second outing as composers for a Barbet Schroeder film (the first being More), the material consisted of music for the soundtrack to the movie La Vallée.
Either side of a Japanese tour, the songs had been hastily written and recorded during two one-week periods in February and March in the Strawberry Studio at the Château d'Herouville, near Paris. Musically ahead of its time, it contained excellent harmonies between David and Richard Wright both vocally and instrumentally. Along with the bullet Strat, David Gilmour used The Black Strat for the recording.
Exploring what could be achieved utilising the additional second socket, an XLR wired as a send and return that David had recently fit to the guitar, he used it with his usual set up of equipment consisting of Hiwatt amps with Wem 4 × 12 cabinets plus effects: a Binson echo, Fuzz Face distortion, Dearmond 610 volume/tone pedal, Vox Wah-Wah, Univibe and Colorsound Power Boost. The recently acquired newly developed EMS VCS3 and AKS Synthi synthesisers offered an additional range of sounds.
Despite the hectic recording schedule the album gained critical praise and contains some powerfully sublime moments, exhibiting elements of what was to come with The Dark Side Of The Moon
Disc & Music Echo called it "an amazing album” …

Princess Maker 2 Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary This Year
This year marks 30 years since the original release of Princess Maker 2 (PC-9801 version) in 1993. We invite you to experience the new and improved Princess Maker 2 on its 30th anniversary.
Tumblr media
—Message from Takami Akai
I am deeply grateful to see that “Princess Maker 2”, which came out 30 years ago, is still so beloved by so many fans that we can release a new version. This time I was finally able to redo the graphics, which I had always wanted to do. Please enjoy the newly redrawn vacations and endings. About Takami Akai: Born 1961. While still enrolled at Osaka University of Arts, he made his debut with the DAICON III Opening Animation. As one of the founding members of GAINAX, he has worked on anime and tokusatsu shows, as well as games and events. His most noteworthy works include the Princess Maker series, Gurren Lagann, and Dai Tokusatsu Negiman.
Redrawing the Graphics
This title is based on Princess Maker 2 Refine, which was released in 2004. Especially important graphics were redrawn by Takami Akai in a style similar to the PC-98 version. The graphics are drawn in high resolution befitting modern game systems, with a commitment to quality in the details.

—Left: Regeneration, Right: Refine
Tumblr media
Opening Movie Added
An opening movie produced by Yonago GAINAX has been added. The animation, which was made by a team led by Takami Akai, allows new “father” players to get a sense of what a future raising their “daughter” is going to be like.
Knowing How Your Daughter is Doing is the First Step in Raising Her
This title is a social simulation, so it is very important to always be aware of your daughter’s status and use this to raise her. In Regeneration, parameters for assessing your daughter’s status are always available, so you can check on her at a glance. Check what you should do for your daughter’s future, and raise her carefully.

Episode 305 - Talkin' Music with shineswithyou
Summary:
Tumblr media
🎧 Find Talkin' Fanfic on your favorite podcast app. Or stream here!
Sara takes (kind of sort of) a break from talking fanfic and bandfic to talk about a different form of storytelling– music, and writing about music! @shineswithyou is a familiar face around Oasis and U2 tumblr, but what you might NOT know is that she has recently embarked on a writing journey of her own, with a substack blog about music and its place as the soundtrack of her own life.
Sara and shines talk about her blog, and the difficulty of “writing words about sounds”; how music is a language in and of itself capable of telling its own (and our own) stories.
Of COURSE we loop it back around to fanfiction and RPF (or, ‘real person fanfiction’), and how bandfic is, at its core, a pure form of love for the musical artist. Other talking points include: how awesome Bono is, and how we wish we could have been at Slane Castle in 2001; the perennial dysfunction of the Gallagher brothers; and the dichotomy of the U2 and Oasis fandoms.

We watched Walt Disney's The Jungle Book (1967).
IMDb Link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061852/
The Jungle Book is a 1967 musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution.
The film is based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book of the same name. It was the 19th Disney feature film and the final film produced by Walt Disney who died during its production.
The film plot follows Mowgli, an abandoned human child raised in the Indian jungle by Wolves. Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear have to convince Mowgli to leave the jungle before Shere Khan arrives to kill him.
Wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle_Book_(1967_film)
Early versions of the screenplay and soundtrack were more faithful to the book with a dramatic, dark and sinister tone which Disney did not like. Leading writer Bill Peet was replaced. Much of Peets work was thrown away but his characters were kept but made more happy and funny.
Work on the animation began on June 5th 1965. The animation was done by Xerography, using rough artistic edges to contrast the round animals. Background were hand painted and used in the foreground and background to create a feeling of depth.
The character of Baloo was based on real footage of bears and their movements in the wild. This was one of the first animated films to study animal behaviour.
A Disney trademark of using previous cel-sequences from other films was used for the Jungle Book. This includes 101 Dalmatians and A Tiger Walks.
The films score was composed by George Bruns and orchestrated by Walter sheets. The score features six original songs, five by the Sherman Brothers and one by Terry Gilkyson who wrote The Bear Necessities. The songs have become classic in their own right. The songs are as follows:
- The Bear Necessities - Trust in Me - I Wan'na Be Like You - Colonel Hathi's March - That's What Friends are For - My Own Home
For more information on the production of The Jungle Book, see:
Favourite scenes in The Jungle Book:
- The wolves scene at the beginning, who adopt Mowgli and raise him.
- The King Louie scene where he sings 'I'm the King of the Swingers'. ''Have Two Bananas!''
- The vultures 'That's What Friends are For' scene. The vultures where influenced by the Beetles who came from Liverpool. - - The 'Trust in Me' scene featuring Kaa the Rock Python who tries to hypnotise Mowgli with his eyes and the song!
- And of course, The Bear Necessities, which Baloo sings with Mowgli in the river.
The Jungle Book was released in October 1967, 10 months after Walt Disney's death. The film was a massive success, costing $4 million dollars to make and earning over $23 million dollars by 1970.
The film was re-released throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s and is regarded as being in the top 50 grossing films of all time.
The film has been released to home media on all available formats from VHS to streaming. The Jungle Book was digitally re-mastered in 2014.
The original aspect ratio of The Jungle Book is 1.37.1, the alternate theatrical released was 1.75:1.
The Jungle Book received positive reviews upon its release. This was partly due to the affection for Walt Disney after his death. Although it was nothing like the book, the film was seen as simple, bright and delightful entertainment.
It still has a rotten tomatoes approval rating of 88%.
In later years the film has received some criticism for being racist, however this was not the film makers intention.
In 2016, a live action/CGI version of the Jungle Book was released. It is darker than the animation but it is highly regarded.
I have seen the live action version recently on BBC iPlayer.
I first saw the Jungle Book in the late 90s on VHS, more recently I brought a copy of the film on Blu-Ray disc in 2017. This version was watched on YouTube Movies. The Jungle Book looked fantastic on my 4K LG TV!
I particularly enjoy watching Kaa, as I like snakes!
My favourite stories from Rudyard Kipling were his 'Just So' stories which I first read in the classic children's Golden Treasury book. My favourite story from 'Just So' is How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin!
Obviously the film isn't up to modern animation standards, but it is still really enjoyable to watch with its catchy songs and engaging characters.
It is a classic!

An essay by critic Stuart Klawans
Shot outside Pittsburgh on a shoestring budget by a band of filmmakers determined to make their mark, Night of the Living Dead, directed by horror master George A. Romero, is one of the great stories of independent cinema: a midnight hit turned box-office smash that became one of the most influential films of all time. A deceptively simple tale of a group of strangers trapped in a farmhouse who find themselves fending off a horde of recently dead, flesh-eating ghouls, Romero’s claustrophobic vision of a late-1960s America literally tearing itself apart rewrote the rules of the horror genre, combined gruesome gore with acute social commentary, and quietly broke ground by casting a black actor (Duane Jones) in its lead role.

German IDM Playlist (YouTube)
If you liked last week's 1990s IDM playlist update, then you're sure to like this slate of IDM tunes from Germany that I just cobbled together too. A bunch of chill, immersive, solitudinous, meditative, and intricate tracks to bliss all the way out to that'll have you looking and feeling like the humanoid from the Artificial Intelligence cover 😌.
Tumblr media
We start with an amazing dispatch from UK trio The Black Dog, whose 1994 remix of Darmstadt duo Alter Ego's "Tanks Ahead" makes for a really lovely, acid-cascading IDM dreamscape of sorts. It originally appeared on the B-side of an Alter Ego 12-inch called Nude Restaurant, which was released on Frankfurt label Harthouse, and then was included on a Harthouse comp called Dark Hearts - Volume 1 the following year. There's multiple uploads of this song on YouTube, and together their play count totals somewhere around 15.2K. By far the most played track in this playlist.
Following that is a stunner from an unknown Bavarian duo called Druckwelle. These guys only put out two 12-inches in their career that both came out in '98, but in 2000, they also had an exclusive called "Unteracherting" that appeared on the Leeds-based Leaf label's Invisible Soundtracks Volume 4 comp. Only 195 views on YouTube. Heady banger.
Next, a grip of tunes from a 2000 double-disc compilation that I've really come to cherish over the years called Putting the Morr Back in Morrissey. The album has nothing to do with The Smiths' frontman, but instead features some popular names from the German realms of indie, electronic, and post-rock: The Notwist, Arovane, and Lali Puna, to name a few. All pretty low play counts on these tracks, ranging from a little above 150 to a little over 2K. Earthy and organic feel to a lot of them.
And lastly, a few cuts from another compilation from 2000 called Cashier Escape Route, put out on the Manchester, UK-based City Centre Offices, who also had a branch in Berlin. The album's subtitle labels itself as Modern Supermarket Music and I think its exclusive theme, "Cashier Escape Song," by Berlin's Styrofoam, happens to nail the vibe quite well; bright, chipper, futuristic, kaleidoscopic song. Only 79 plays.
This playlist is ordered as chronologically as possible and links are provided below to songs that have been posted about previously in order to give them more context:
Alter Ego - "Tanks Ahead (Black Dog Mix)" Druckwelle - "Unteracherting" The Notwist - "Scoop" Arovane - "Delc:r" Blond - "Status" Kandis - "Herbstzwilling (Tied & Tickled Trio Rmx)" Tied & Tickled Trio - "Utrom (Kandis Remix)" Blond - "Status (B. Fleischmann Rmx)" Lali Puna - "Fast Forward (Flowchart Rmx)" Dynamo - "18°" Styrofoam - "Cashier Escape Song" Roger van Lunteren - "N-2097"
12 songs. 65 minutes.
Playlist is also on YouTube Music.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

Got tagged by @dying-suffering-french-stalkers to post 4 albums I listened to lately and then I forgot about it for like at least a week so here's some belated music talk!
Tumblr media
So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy: Often when I listen to a new album by a favorite artist/band I am kinda underwhelmed/disappointed because it is different or not as good as what came before and I really need a bit to let the music grow on me. THIS ALBUM HOWEVER! Complete opposite experience. This thing is a masterpiece from start to finish and I needed only one listen to realise it. Every song that came on was amazing. I was literally surprised by myself that I kept loving every song that came on. 10/10 everyone needs to listen to this right now omg
Tumblr media
2. Songs From Final Fantasy XV by Florence and the Machine: Final Fantasy XV starts and ends with a beautiful cover of Stand by Me but Florence and the Machine made an additional two songs that aren't actually in the game. This entire thing is only 15 minutes long but these 3 songs singlehandedly made Florence the 3rd artist on my Spotify wrapped last year. Too Much Is Never Enough made me cry when I first heard it. Stand By Me makes me emotional too. I Will Be is hauntingly beautiful. Even if you don't get the full emotional damage from Final Fantasy XV's tragic ending PLEASE listen to this even just for the insane vocals. I promise this will be a 15 minutes well spent.
Tumblr media
3. Speaking of Final Fantasy XV My Beloved: Final Fantasy XV Original Soundtrack by God herself aka Yoko Shimomura (and some others): This album singlehandedly made Yoko Shimomura my second artist on my Spotify Wrapped last year. I recently bought this on CD and it is the best thing ever. (The fact that Noctis My Beloved looks very handsome on disc 1 is also a great feature of the CD Box) I love this soundtrack so much. It is very long so I wont demand anyone listen to it in its entirety (even tho yall should) but special shoutouts to Apocalypsis Aquarius, Somnus (Instrumental), Valse di Fantastica, Wanderlust, Veiled in Black and Noctis (I could make a whole seperate post about Noctis theme but omg it makes me emotional)
Tumblr media
4. Speak Now by Taylor Swift: So by now you might be wondering who was number 1 on my Spotify Wrapped and it was miss Swift here. I haven't really listened to Speak Now as much lately but I did a few weeks before getting tagged for this. I am trying to manifest Speak Now Taylor's Version because I NEED those vault songs. This is one of if not my favorite album of hers. This is the closest we will ever get to a Taylor Swift rock album. Also: Enchanted My Beloved. Downside of Taylor's Version will be the new album cover because I love this artwork so fucking much and she will never make the new one as good as this one
Tagging: @turtlebats @elfje-8 @mister-e-muss @humongousfurybeard @arkeyr79 and any other follower who would like to do this just say I tagged you :)

ok. this will be fun but playlist for your life right now? with explanations on why you like them / how they related to you. (idm whether its 5 or 20 songs, i need recommendations and i need explanations AHAHA)
omg best question ever award. initially I wanted to keep this like ‘album length’ (max 15 songs) but we’ll see how it goes :’) also so sorry this took like forever I kept changing everything LMAO
track 1 — ‘the 1975’
being funny in a foreign language, the 1975
a pretty obvious choice for the opening song. was a toss up if it was either going to include the bfiafl version or the self-titled version — in the end decided to go with the bfiafl version because of the lyric “I’m sorry if you’re living and you’re seventeen”, because I am seventeen. therefore it was more appropriate to include this one whilst I can! like I said, I was undoubtedly going to start with a version of ‘the 1975’ because it’s the perfect representation and reset of the things that I love.
track 2 — ‘you belong with me (taylor’s version)’
fearless (taylor’s version), taylor swift
now the next two songs are basically the representation of my childhood. before I even fully knew who taylor actually was, I was obsessed with watching the music video for this song and I was absolutely in love with it. when I got older and went my own way before finding my way back to her, the amount of nostalgia I got from this song was insane — making me love her even more now. fearless will forever & always (pun!!!) be my favourite taylor album.
track 3 — ‘red (taylor’s version)’
red (taylor’s version), taylor swift
much like you belong with me, the whole red album was the album that I actively remember listening to the most when I was in primary school and actually grasped taylor as a person for the first time. madness to think how full circle I’ve actually come now that I’m going into year 13 (over a decade later).
track 4 — ‘roxanne’
outlandos d’amour, the police
this has been one of my top spotify songs for quite some time, and I first started listening to it because it came from one of my favourite films / musicals of all time — moulin rouge! my uncle also has the picture disc for this album (if my memory serves me right) so it’s also nostalgic to have that family connection to it, I always love what music is capable of doing in terms of relationships. it’s absolutely magical.
track 5 — ‘stuck on a puzzle’
submarine soundtrack, alex turner
I was introduced to this song through the film ‘submarine’ (richard ayoade) as it was one of my set texts for a-level media studies. majority of my class heavily disliked the film, but it instantly shot to one of my favourites of all time — the cinematography along with the soundtrack is some of the most masterful work I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. the lyrics themselves in the song also just gives me that mellow feeling when listening to it (as alex turner’s voice itself is amazing). I’m also welsh, so watching the film gives me the same feeling as gavin & stacey, constantly picking out locations that I know and also sharing almost the exact same accent as to the ones in the film haha!
track 6 — ‘thick skull’
this is why, paramore
these next few songs I’ve placed in the playlist to sort of represent my long battle with mental health problems (which I’m very happy and proud to admit that currently I’m the happiest I have ever been since I was like 9 lol), and thick skull does that perfect representation (also whilst being sung by hayley williams, what more can a girl ask for). the sinking feeling that I get from listening to this song truly does feel like drowning in the best of ways, mimicking that battle that you have to have with yourself. from the slow start to the layered buildup towards the end, it truly does feel like an explosion.
track 7 — ‘i always wanna die (sometimes)’
a brief inquiry into online relationships, the 1975
I feel like I am constantly talking about this song so I probably won’t elaborate on it that much, but from suffering with a personal loss that’s represented almost to a t through this song is why it’ll always be so important to me. from “your death it won’t happen to you, it happens to your family and your friends” to “if you can’t survive, just try”, anything else I could possibly say is in the lyrics themselves.
track 8 — ‘fine line’
fine line, harry styles
this songs included because it reminds me of one of my bestest friends in the entire world. although this doesn’t have the deepest meaning behind it, when we both went to a harry styles concert together, a group of girls in the row behind us snapped a photo of us hugging each other during fine line and it’s become my favourite photo of all time. I’ll include it at the bottom, so then this song just became our song :)
track 9 — ‘the crow & the butterfly’
sound of madness, shinedown
this song comes from one of my dads favourite albums, and the instruments in this song are just breathtaking. my nan also vehemently hates the idea of me getting tattoos, and when I asked her what I should get for her, other than being like don’t you dare; she said get a butterfly (with the most annoyed look on her face ever hahahah). therefore this song also reminds me of her :)
track 10 — ‘symptom of being human’
planet zero, shinedown
this other shinedown track is also included because one of the best concerts I’ve ever been too was on the planet zero tour. also, listen to this song and pay attention to the lyrics because it’s so emotional and the meaning behind it is insane. it really makes you feel seen and special!
track 11 — ‘i’m so sick’
flyleaf, flyleaf
this is included because it’s just one of my favourite songs of all time, and the vocalist on the track (lacey sturm) is just an absolute powerhouse! no other reason other than that hahaha.
track 12 — ‘aimee’
ozzmosis, ozzy osbourne
pretty obvious, it’s my name (and I love ozzy anyways).
track 13 — ‘funny how love is’
queen II, queen
queen have always and will always be one of my favourite bands of all time (as I’m absolutely in love with roger taylor) and queen II is just my absolute favourite album by them, and one of my tops of all time. this song reminds me of me first starting my vinyl collection and going record hunting for the first time, in which I bought first pressings of their debut self titled album and queen II.
track 14 — ‘all I need to hear’
being funny in a foreign language, the 1975
one of my favourites on the album that means so much to me, so had to include it for that reason. I love singing along to the track over any other 1975 song, and also getting to hear tim healy sing this live at finsbury was just magical.
track 15 — ‘sunshine baby’
in the end it always does, the japanese house
again, one of my favourite artists of all time, and one of my favourite albums of all time. this is my favourite song on the album and it just gives me vibes haha! some of my favourite flowing lyrics of all time as well, “the feeling when the windscreen wipers line up with the song”.
track 16 — ‘sincerity is scary’
a brief inquiry into online relationships, the 1975
had to include this because it comes from my favourite 1975 album, and I wanted to include it because I feel like it perfectly demonstrates meaningful but satirical lyricism.
track 17 — ‘mean (taylor’s version)’
speak now (taylor’s version), taylor swift
again, a pretty simple reason (I’m running out of things to waffle about at this point, only so many times can I say I love a song) but this one goes out to all the negativity that people have tried to feed into my life, because they will never define you :)
track 18 — ‘i am the fire’
into the wildlife, halestorm
halestorm are also another band that my dad introduced me too, and seeing them live for the first time and getting a pick from a concert for the first time will always be a stand out memory to me. also, I love the message behind the song and how uplifting it can be!
track 19 — ‘i bet you look good on the dance floor’
whatever people say I am that’s what I’m not, arctic monkeys
this song reminds me of my other best mate in the whole entire world, who I’ve known for years. she’s always been a bigger arctic monkeys fan that I have and I am so proud of her for accomplishing everything she has today. although she’ll never see this I’m so proud of her! more than she’d ever know.
track 20 — ‘left behind’
plush (released as a single)
from another one of my favourite bands of all time, this is their newest single release. it’s hard, it’s heavy, and I absolutely love jamming out to it. a girl rock band all under 22 — sign me up!
track 21 — ‘girls, girls, girls’
girls girls girls, mötley crüe
recently saw mötley crüe in wembley with my dad, and it was so emotional being able to see his all time favourite band with him. this was one of the first mötley songs that I ever listened to and realised oh shit my dad wasn’t lying!
track 22 — ‘give yourself a try’
a brief inquiry into online relationships, the 1975
favourite 1975 song. means so much to me. the message is just the most important.
track 23 — ‘people’
notes on a conditional form, the 1975
ending on a complete high, reminds of the end of finsbury (the best gig ever) when I absolutely lost my shit and had the most adrenaline ever. really sums up the person who I’ve become!
so turns out this was actually insanely difficult — listen time clocking in at 1hr & 27m. but this genuinely just sums up me as a person, absolutely all over the place, up and down, leaving you thinking ‘wtf is going on’. I hope you enjoy, and if you don’t recognise any of the songs, I would 110% recommend them :) (also could u tell I literally had to cut down so many the 1975 songs and couldn’t just have it all them LMAO)
bonus tracks:
forget (ashley suppa), all dead all dead (queen), epiphany (mammoth wvh), over there (the japanese house), nana (the 1975), I couldn’t be more in love (the 1975), nothing revealed / everything denied (the 1975)

■ About
Throughout the Fate franchise, pairs of masters and heroic spirits—also known as servants—have been fighting across history in a series of Holy Grail Wars, with the winning duo receiving an ancient artifact that grants wishes. Fate/Samurai Remnant continues the series’ epic Holy Grail War in the fourth year of the Keian Era, Edo Period Japan. It has been several decades since the end of a turbulent, blood-soaked era, and while the people are finally enjoying peace and tranquility, a battle between seven pairs of masters and servants is about to begin as the “Waxing Moon Ritual” unfolds in the shadows. This is where the game’s hero, Miyamoto Iori, a young man in Asakusa, finds himself caught in the violence alongside his servant Saber, as they fight to be the last pair remaining in order to receive the granter of wishes, the “Waxing Moon Vessel”.
In Fate/Samurai Remnant, players control Miyamoto Iori, a master who studied the Niten Ichiryu style of swordsmanship. He fights alongside Saber, a servant who possesses strength beyond that of humans! When facing enemies beyond human control, players will be able to instruct their servant to attack with powerful magical techniques, or even take direct control of the servant to attack the enemy swarm. Dynamic battle scenes between servants help elevate the action to new heights and are must-see contests for fans of the series!
Throughout the game, players get the chance to explore the town of Edo, where row houses, samurai residences, and brothels stand side by side. Here, many people frequent the streets and characters drawn with a distinct Japanese touch are brought to life. While following the story of the “Waxing Moon Ritual”, players will be able to interact with various characters and animals in town, explore a variety of areas, and take on a wide array of challenges as they fight for survival in the latest Holy Grail War!
■ Story
Tumblr media
The 4th year of the Keian Era, Edo Period. Forty-eight years had passed since Ieyasu, the sovereign of Japan, opened the capital to the Tokugawa shogunate. The reign of the Tokugawa was passed down to the fourth Shogun, Ietsuna. The number of people living in Edo increased day by day, and the city seemed to be enjoying its prosperity. However, due to a succession of dissolutions and revocations by the feudal lords, the streets were filled with ronin, and the peaceful days of Edo seemed to be fading.
In Asakusa, a town in Edo, there was a young man named Miyamoto Iori. He was the adopted son and apprentice of the great swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Iori chose not to serve under a lord, but rather spent his days training his swordsmanship. One day, he noticed an unfamiliar bruise on the back of his hand. Iori would soon find himself trapped in the midst of a horrific conflict, a battle of blood and trickery.
The battle over the “Waxing Moon” which could grant any and all wishes – the “Waxing Moon Ritual”. The seven individuals seeking their wish, or Masters, are the bearers of the Ritual. The seven Heroic Spirits, or Servants, are summoned to this world by their Masters. The curtain rises on the battle between the seven Masters with their seven Servants.
“I suppose…you’re the one who summoned me?”

Iori’s weapon of choice are swords. He fights by switching between five different stances, each with its own characteristics, depending on the situation. If he is unable to use his sword for certain enemies, he can use magic to counter them. Servant image image image Saber fights with great power as a Servant and can shoot water from their sword. Even the strongest enemies would stand no chance against Saber’s brilliant swordplay. When you control Iori, your Servant will make decisions and act independently.
Servant
Saber fights with great power as a Servant and can shoot water from their sword. Even the strongest enemies would stand no chance against Saber’s brilliant swordplay. When you control Iori, your Servant will make decisions and act independently.

As a human, Iori’s sword cannot overcome powerful enemies, such as Servants. However, if the enemy’s Shell Gauge is depleted by Saber’s Affinity Technique, Iori’s attacks will be able to reach them.

◆ Explore Edo
Yoshiwara, Kanda, Akasaka… Various famous places in Edo will act as the stage of the Ritual. As you explore the city, you may fight with other Masters, or you may also learn things that will help you grow as a Master. Me: Well. I’ve survived the first season of Made In Abyss. It was definitely.... a lot. It certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone that one time. But I’m used to horror. I’m even used to gore. The season one finale was sad and creepy, but honestly more in line with what I can handle. I’m invested enough to keep pushing through. Right?

So, I’m rewatching the old movie adaptation of West Side Story since I watched the new one in theaters yesterday. Despite having seen this movie YEARS ago, I just realized that the social worker who tries to get everyone to dance with different people at the gym dance is played by JOHN ASTIN. Gomez Addams himself!
He just looks like this.

This is like seeing my dad shave his mustache off: vaguely distressing in a way that I know isn’t a big deal, but still feels wrong.

Today, I attended my university’s Acts of Storytelling Class, and I asked my classmates (who are all mostly my age and very familiar with the Internet) if they were following the Goncharov stuff on Tumblr. While a couple of them knew what I meant, most were still unaware. I briefly explained what Goncharov was, and how it grew from its origins as a knockoff shoe label to a whole fictional movie made through the unrequested creative efforts of a whole social media platform. “Isn’t it interesting?” I asked. “Isn’t it cool?”
I was surprised to hear a collective response of sighs and scoffs.
“Please explain how this is interesting,” said my teacher.
“I don’t know how some people find the time to make stuff like this,” said one of my classmates.
“Yeah, of all the things they could be doing,” said another.
I immediately responded by saying that the people making Goncharov content aren’t all flippantly devoting “valuable free time” to something that previously didn’t exist. They’re participating in a group act of creation, making a story out of nothing. People are making high quality gif and photosets, movie posters and VHS/DVD box art. There are named characters and debates about if the two lesbian characters are good representation or not, or if that even matters. Just today, I heard music that someone composed from the “soundtrack.” This was all made relatively unprompted, just for the love of creation, and all from a knockoff shoe label.
“You’ve got to wonder what else is going on in a person’s life if they’re making music for a movie that doesn’t exist,” replied one of my classmates.
I didn’t reply after this. I didn’t know how. I was too baffled by how my classmates, in a class devoted to the Acts of Storytelling, could look down on this miraculous and fun act of storytelling that was happening as we spoke, just a few clicks and keyboard taps away. How they could all dismiss this as a waste of time.
Aside from the fact that Tumblr has a multitude of people and published authors (or their equivalents in other mediums) usually work alone, how is this any different from reading or watching a story that someone poured their heart into, a story created out of random wisps of inspiration, and saying “How could someone find the time to make this?” with an equal amount of disdain?

Today, during a University event, I was speaking with a few people about the Discworld series. The Color of Magic was brought up, and someone said that they never really got into Rincewind until the later books, and even then, he wasn’t one of their favorite characters.
I am very proud of how I decided to dress that day, because I was able to respond with
“Noooo, I love Rincewind! He’s on my shirt!”
(brushes aside jean jacket to show my Rincewind shirt that I bought off Redbubble)
“And my socks!”
(pulls up pants leg to show off my Rincewind-themed socks, which are actual Discworld merch)
Like. I may be getting a bit too excited about it, but I love that for a second, I felt like one of those cartoon gags where a character says they aren’t super into something, and then it cuts to another character who is dressed head to toe in that thing’s merch/apparel.

My #1 post of 2022
Seeing Dan recognize and DO SOMETHING about the (now canon!) feelings that Yaz has for the Doctor made me imagine his reaction to meeting Two and Jamie.
Like, imagine Dan having a word alone with his Doctor after Two and Jamie leave the room, practically climbing onto each other as they talk about what to do next.
Dan: ohhh, so Yaz wasn't the first person to fall for you.
13: I.... I don't know what you mean! You jump to conclusions very easily, Dan.
Dan: You don't need to worry about me judging you, Doctor, he's a handsome man for sure. You could've had a far worse boyfriend.
13: We.... never really put labels on things, you know, we just appreciated each others'-
Dan: Bodies?
13: DAN
Dan: You were at LEAST making out.
13: You! You are... grounded! You are TARDIS grounded!
Dan: All right, confine me to the magical time machine with an infinite amount of rooms. I’ll surely die of boredom.

Josee, the tiger and the fish [Blu-ray or DVD]
Review:
Tumblr media
An evergreen romantic drama featuring a feisty, wheelchair bound shut-in and the unlikely ikemen she collides with on one of her nocturnal forays. A gorgeous modernisation of a somewhat classic story.
Tsuneo is steadily over achieving in both his marine biology studies and his ever expanding schedule of part time work. He is also preparing to embark on an overseas stint in Mexico to fulfill his dream of swimming with a type of fish in its native environment. Josee is the opposite. Diminutive and burdened with paralysed legs, she lives alone with her grandmother. Though well cared for, she is sheltered to the point of disconnection from the outside world. These two extremes literally collide one evening via Josee's out of control wheelchair during one of her clandestine outings.
This is a stand alone, animated relationship drama set in the halcyon period of late college and young adult life. Enhancing a story with swinging emotional tone is a palette that can shift from ebulliently vibrant to sombre and downcast. The soundtrack is richly complimentary and is the work of the same composer as for Violet Evergarden.
The original short story on which this anime is based, was written by the late Seiko Tanabe and first published in the early 80s. It seemingly reappears every twenty years, conforming to the accepted gap interval for remakes. Two decades later came the first live action film adaptation. Recently there has been a Korean remake. Constant to all are Josee's signature handicap and somewhat tsundere personality. The anime version of Tsuneo however, is self effacing but confident, modest yet driven and accentuates Josee's differences. Anyway, no adaptation is completely alike. Besides the character and plot tweaks, each setting is modernised to reflect the times and technology of the production.
The entire short story anthology containing Josee the Tiger and the Fish has also been made available in translation for the first time by Yen Press. Alone amidst the celluloid, it is told from an unsual semi-past narrative perspective and structure.
