Uncanny X-Men #134 (Claremont & Byrne, June 1980). Phoenix breaks bad. In an era where the “illusion of change” is maintained so vigilantly, the X-Men keep dishing out seismic changes with lasting consequences.

Amazing that they pulled off this two page piece of artwork. I don't think I've seen this in any other books so far. So bravo, Ross Andru. Also, what're the Vanisher and Mastermind doing back? Last time we met them, Professor X erased the vanisher's memory and The Stranger turned Mastermind to stone. How'd they recover from that? (X-Men #37):

Uncanny X-Men #130 (Claremont & Byrne, Feb 1980). While the Hellfire Club unleashes the merry mutants’ darkest bondage fantasies, Dazzler makes her debut! Which is kinda hilarious because disco was so reviled in 1979, there were actual riots.

It's so funny how blatantly Wanda and Pietro are being set up to turn against the Brotherhood of Mutants.
