I'm a bug fan of your Revenant series! It's such a cool team 😁

One thing that struck me was that on learning the shadow king was back Lorna specifically asked for her brother and shot down seeing her father. She was even reluctant to tell Wanda what was happening until Pietro convinced her.

What was going on in her head at that moment and how do you feel about her respective relationships with her father and siblings (In the story and in cannon)

YESSSSSSSS I’ve been waiting for someone to ask this 🥰🥰🥰also thank you so much for enjoying Revenant, I have literally so much more of it to write (you have no idea this has gotten way out of control, this entire AU was created for a silly oneshot TerryLorna idea I had and I am STILL NOT EVEN AT A PLACE WHERE I CAN WRITE THE TERRYLORNA)....anyway this is about to be word vomit bc I have a LOT of thoughts

Okay so one of the big things here is that Lorna and Pietro have both had pivotal moments in their stories where they were mind controlled and made to do things that hurt people they cared about and neither of them really ever got a whole lot of support in recovering from that. And Pietro is, for all his faults, incredibly protective and incredibly loving of his sisters and while Lorna has spent a LOT of time pushing back against that protectiveness because she really and truly can handle herself and she and Pietro don't have that kind of history where he's seen her almost burned at the stake etc etc.... this is a moment where she wants someone to be ride or die in her corner and to be ride or die in her corner after it's all said and done even if she is controlled again...... and Pietro's fatal flaw is loyalty. She wanted someone who would come in and try to make it better even though there was nothing they could do, and she knew that if she called Pietro would come running. It's more an act of desperation than of familial love? But it's something that's really going to set the stage as the story progresses for how their relationship is going to evolve. We also know that Lorna is very afraid of seeming weak in front of her father- he has these grand expectations of her and when she doesn't meet his impossible standards she cracks under that weight and for as much as I love Erik and as much as I appreciate the steps he's taken to repair his relationship with her, being his daughter is not easy. And with Wanda, they arguably have the easier relationship within this group of siblings, where it really has become more genuinely sisterly and almost...dare I say? normal? But Wanda isn't really involved in X-Men stuff and hasn't really been to any grand extent barring her intro and M-Day (and much more recently Trial of Magneto)- her very presence on Krakoa is enough to inspire hatred and anger, with the Shadow King there Wanda as a first choice is probably not smart, and Wanda herself has so much baggage with mutantkind thanks to M-Day that it puts her in a weird position too.

I'm playing a lot with Wanda, Lorna, and Pietro's relationships with each other and with their father. I feel like Pietro is very underutilized and that he's not taken seriously by writers or by fans and so I really wanted to build on this Lorna-Pietro relationship that was starting to get established in All New X-Factor and to really kind of I guess force my readers to remember that Pietro isn't a bad guy? Which sounds stupid bc he's a hero but like people don't read for Pietro and take wildly ooc shit as fact. Like it's important to me that my readers know that it was Pietro who pushed for he and Wanda to leave the Brotherhood, and that Pietro tries so so so hard for his family and just wants to keep his sisters and daughter safe and that like he is a victim of much of the same trauma as Wanda and he's allowed to have responses to it without being whiny or having to get over it (no matter what Wanda said in Quicksilver: No Surrender).

But yeah, I have lots of Revenant thoughts, and feel free to dm me or send me asks about it anytime I love talking about it!

For the X-Men/Gargoyles AU (where the X-Men are set in a Gargoyles-esque universe, but they take the place of those characters), I think I've figured out the new dynamics. This is different from the Gargoyles series, because trying to fit a few X-Men into one character's place was very difficult. So what did I do? Changed it around a bit.

Let's look at it this way:

Logan/Wolverine and Ororo/Storm take the place of Goliath, being a couple or good friends, while Victor/Sabretooth and Raven/Mystique take the place of Demona. So each pair is a friend to the other or a sibling, but aren't romantic. So, Logan and Victor are brothers, Ororo and Raven are sisters, but Logan and Ororo are really good friends or mates, and Victor and Raven are really good friends or mates. Take your pick.

Xavier becomes David Xanatos, and Magneto becomes a mix of Owen Burnett/Puck and Fox, and surprise, they're reincarnated gargoyles this go (which wasn't in the show, but this is my au, so it goes).They're like a cool, mysterious older couple, who always seem to know something Reader doesn't (they know a lot of things they don't, but they'll reveal everything in due time...) (Victor and Raven know, too, and it's the one reason they haven't tried to kill Reader... with the information they have, why would they?)

Hank/Beast takes the place of Hudson, Gambit takes the place of Brooklyn, Kurt takes the place of Broadway, Evan takes the place of Lexington... Bronx, I'm not sure if any of the X-Men had a pet (I'm using X-Men Evolution for this, by the way), so I guess I can add an extra teen... so let's go with... Kitty (why not?).

Reader takes a new role, which is... different to Elisa's. They do some detective work, possibly, but as a teen, maybe. Or maybe they're an assistant to Xavier. They could just be some random person who happened to stumble into all of this. But they take the main character role, I guess, who isn't a gargoyle (they were one in a past life, though, so do with that what you will)

Scott and Jean take the place of Matt Bluestone as well as Coldstone and Coldfire. They're Reader's older friends, (and are the reincarnated spirits of two of the long dead gargoyles from the Wyvern Clan Massacre). Rogue is also their friend, and is like a mix of Morgan the cop, the chief of police, and Elisa's family... (maybe she is related to Reader? maybe not? and she is Kurt's long dead sister reincarnated... so that makes her Raven's daughter, but a human in this new life).

Lance, Todd/Toad, Fred, Pietro, and Wanda are here, too. They might be a version of the Pack (a kid/teen version), they could be a gang similar to one in the series, maybe they're just also random people dragged into this mess. They are there, and that's that.

Now, I say this would have it's own 🌕Longest Night❄ AU, which would be where the adult gargoyles (the reincarnated ones too) are affected by a magical artifact, during the long nights of Winter, and go about surprise adopting (kidnapping) their reincarnated kids... And their gargoyle kids are affected too, but are in a hatchling/younger state of mind. So they aren't going to be much help to Reader or the others. Let's just hope the long nights ahead don't last... And if they do, how do they stop them?

— charles/ your dad can be very opinionated, so you often worry about what he might say when you tell him who you are dating

— so you'd be 'sneaking' around dating pietro. but bc of who your dad is, he already knew. but he wanted you to come clean for yourself, so he'd keep quiet. I think he'd be disappointed bc of your lying, and you doing what you were told not to

— maybe he dislikes pietro - he has his assumptions about him, but he doesn't really know him. maybe he thinks he's an idiot, immature, childish all those sorts of things

— maybe you get cornered and have to tell him who you're dating. he'd be unhappy, but maybe a little glad that you're now telling the truth. but he won't give his blessing and he'd say he's disappointed etcetc

— you'd be kinda distraught and confine in pietro. maybe he's sad that your dad has all these speculations about him, and has never tried to get to know him. also he's sad for you, as he knows it feels like crap

— maybe without you knowing, he talks to charles. he tells him how much he loves you, and how he'd never let anything bad happen to you. says how important you are to him and how he wants to put family issues aside so that it doesn't upset you. maybe says that thing about how he can still hate him, but just not while you're around. he asks him to talk to you. maybe to top it off, he says how much his dad misses charles, and gives a little nudge to talk to him (cherik <3)

— maybe charles is impressed by the pietro's maturity and would consider dinner with the pair of you

— charles would only want the best for you, and he'd eventually see that pietro is that guy. it would take some work though

It was as easy as that! When Todd Nauck was added to the equation, I knew I’d made the right decision. Todd’s work on this series has been amazing. Every page is better than the one before. Just spectacular stuff. AIPT: Todd’s great! (And a friend of X-Men Monday!) For readers who are only now hearing about this mini-series, what’s your elevator pitch? J.M.: I don’t know if I can boil it down to an elevator pitch! What fascinates me about Magneto is that he’s a mass of contradictions. If you look at those early stories, he’s as one-dimensional a villain as you could possibly find. An arrogant, megalomaniacal, mustache-twirling bad guy with zero redeeming qualities. But as the years progressed, writers — especially Chris Claremont — gave us a much more nuanced, multi-layered portrayal of the character. A man filled with seemingly infinite contradictions. He may be the single most conflicted, multi-layered character in the entire Marvel Universe. As a writer who’s always specialized in getting deep inside characters’ heads, those conflicts and layers fascinate me. And, since I’m such a fan of those early stories, I’m equally fascinated by the disconnect between the (apparently) one-dimensional “evil mutant” introduced in X-Men #1 and the man he evolved into. Was that truly who Magneto was back then… or was his “villain” persona part of some larger plan? Our story will allow us to go back and look at some of the events from the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee-Roy Thomas/Werner Roth eras and view them through a very different lens. And, of course, we pick up our story at a time when Magneto has just taken over as headmaster of Xavier’s school, charged with guiding the New Mutants. The “evil mutant” has now taken on the vision, and the burden, of the man who was once his fiercest enemy. Talk about duality and conflict! The story potential is endless. AIPT: Living the dream! I’m sure you’re probably pretty six of parentage/retcon questions at this point but here’s another (sorry):

What do you think, if any particular reason, is keeping them from undoing the retcon? I don’t think it would be that difficult if they wanted to.

Maybe they’ll do it now, since (spoiler alert for DS MoM if you care: mutants are kind of in the mcu now and mcu scarlet witch is implied to be dead) but it seems like they’re doubling down on the “magneto is their dad but not biologically” thing (which I don’t love since he’s not a good dad and they already had Django).

Assuming they’re sticking with Natalya (because getting rid of her is really the only way to get rid of the unfortunate implication of a magical Roma family) but they could just say since the scarlet witch is a magical title, Wanda could inherit it as Django’s daughter, biological maximoff or not. Might even be able to connect to Billy and Tommy. They could even include a little bit about Wanda and Pietro being in Natalya’s care at some point between their time with the high evolutionary and Django and Marya when she considered them her own, perhaps prior to being… killed by a vengeful magneto? I’m unsure.

I just think this is all very odd. The Whizzer backstory lasted like 5 years, they’ve been “non mutants” for 8 now so I’m worried it’s going to stick

I mean, the real answer here is "Disney." Certainly, nobody at Marvel seems to want this. As for why Disney cares about this particular issue, I could not even begin to guess. I truly do not know why they're meddling in this. And if people don't believe me that Disney meddles in this stuff, here is someone who worked at Marvel in the 2010's saying as much, albeit about other issues:

My instinct is that the people making these decisions have no understanding of comics or the comics audience and believe that someone who wants to get into comics from the movies is going to be confused. Or something??? I don't know. That makes no sense to because 1) they will not be confused and 2) who the f is getting into comics from the MCU?

I recognize that everybody's got anecdata about them or their friend starting to read comics in 2012 because of the first Avengers movie, but statistically, "person getting into Marvel Comics because of the MCU in the year 2022" is a made up character who doesn't exist.

People love to say, "Oh, any comic with Wanda is selling so many copies now." It's fake news! These comics don't sell that many copies. To wit:

Marvel is literally synonymous with the very idea of “comics” for a meaningful percentage of the American population, they utterly dominated pop culture for multiple years here, and the source material of comics is actually usually better realized than the various bits stolen by the adaptations.  Plus, on top of that, they have “Star Wars” (and also all of the 20th Century Fox library now) – it is absolutely incomprehensible to this observer that they are not entirely dominating the sales of western comics to adults.  And yet, they can only sell a single book into the bookmarket at over 10k copies.

And that book is Infinity Gauntlet. These numbers do not account for the direct market, but those numbers aren't any better. These comics aren't Where the Crawdads Sing, no matter what their position is on an Amazon list. I feel weirdly passionate about this because I know many voracious readers who have tried to get into Marvel comics since the MCU has started, and it never sticks. They buy 1 TPB, complain that they either don't like the way the characters are written or they don't understand what's going on, and they go back to reading Saga.

So, I have no idea why Disney thinks this is necessary. I don't know why they thought killing off Doctor Strange was necessary. Their decisions seem like nonsense to me. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when they start properly meddling in X-Men comics. There will protests in the streets.

1: hello! it’s been a while! i have been working! capitalism is ruining me.

2: you may have noticed almost all my fics have (discontinued) in the summary now, this is because i haven’t updated most of them in several years and i just wanted to make it official. no hard feelings, but that two chapter fic from 2019 was probably never getting an update. you may ask “which one?”, and to that i say “exactly.”

3: the pit discord has hit 114 members, which is sort of insane to me considering it’s for fanfic but also really hype. 

anyways, that out of the way we can get to the rambling. despite my lack of updates, i HAVE been writing, just...very infrequently. and with low energy. i’m entering a writing rush again though so i’ll try and write as many updates as i can, for you guys. 

that being said, i’ll hint to a new collab i’ll be doing with reavv, the person i worked on Les Étrangers with if anyone here is familiar with that. (it’s a dragon age fic, go figure.) i don’t know how much i can hint to right now, but it WILL be modern character(s) in thedas, and we’ll be going back to basics when it comes to common tropes in mcit. we’re working on chapter 1 as i write this, and i’m hoping it’ll be a project we both enjoy and that our readers enjoy as well!

ive had a few other works in the backlog, a few ideas for skyrim and dragon age, but whether those will see the light of day is up in the air. should i start just posting my unfinished stuff? i have a ton of si for various fandoms i’ve never finished but have like AT LEAST 2k or something on. though a lot of it is from pre 2020 so it’ll be lower quality. food for thought.

i think i might make another longer post about dragon age soon, just because i’ve been thinking ab fic a lot recently and about the slow death of dragon age’s fandom since it’s height around 2016. i love dragon age and appreciate bioware but also they make a fanfic author’s life very hard.

currently as of writing this chapter 5 is at around 3k, almost done. i will say it’s gonna be a angsty one, if you read chapter 4 you’ll know why. most of it was admittedly written this past week or so by me at 3am, but that’s between me and you, random citizen. 

i think it’ll be a good one, or at least that’s what the others have told me so i have no reason to assume otherwise. you’ll be able to tell me what you think in probably a week(?) or so when we post it. (do not hold me to that. everytime i list a release date i jinx that shit)

i get a lot of comments asking if this is abandoned, which is weird, considering it’s only been like six months since i updated. grrm has taken 11 years to get out that new book, in comparison i’m doing pretty well.

jokes aside, biggering chaper 8 is in the works, i promise. we’re at like 2.2k words, i just haven’t really been feeling asoiaf lately. i haven’t been seeing any good si fics for it lately so the inspiration has been low. (i’ve been eyeing Last Serving Daughter by dwellingondreams though, let’s see if reading that will spark something in my empty head.)

ch 8 is probably gonna be better than most of the other chapters though, i’ve been improving a lot lately in terms of descriptions so i’m hoping that will translate well.

is it flattering? yes. is it also very fear inducing because i only write video game fanfic for the most part? ...also yes.

We have - spoiler - only three more issues before this title is cancelled. Will Xavier and the hot mom whose daughter he mindwiped, and whose house he inexplicably lives in now, seal the deal? Let's find out! Or, no, wait, let's go to Atlantis for some fucking reason.

I'm not sure yet if this series comes to a proper end with the final issue, 22, or if they got cancelled mid-series, but it certainly does feel in this issue like things are ramping up to a finale: Magneto, who we last saw "drowning", shows up in Atlantis and persuades that old rascal Namor to invade the surface world yet again. This is announced on TV by the Fantastic Four, for some reason: Xavier's just watching it all unfold at the hot mom's house.

But, ok, are at least the other X-Men going to be involved? Absolutely not. Angel spends this issue on a weird jaunt with one of the cult members, who tries and fails to return to her old family while Angel angsts about his family, and the other X-Men spend the whole time underground fighting the monstrous minion of the Mole Man, who is also a Fantastic Four villain.

The series is called X-Men: The Hidden Years because the X-Men are hidden from the reader for most of it. Still, two issues left for Xavier to make it happen!

Just listen to me this once” he begged and you pretended to stay, but as soon as he left with Hank and everyone else, you went to Charles and told him everything and then headed to New York to try and stop him from killing Jean.

“She’s my friend and I won’t let you hurt her. She’s not herself but I know she’s still in there”.

“Step aside. I don’t want to hurt you” he warned.

“You’re just as stubborn as I am and you won’t stop. Go save your friend, but be safe” he gave you permission.

“You need to apologize to your daughter.” Erik stated sternly
