It was during her last class when Jaskier heard the familiar sound of Geraldine's motorbike outside. Jaskier peered out the window, and indeed, there she was, unmounting her bike. Jaskier swallowed heavily at the sight of Geraldine's leather pants pulling tight over her firm, shapely bum. Geraldine took off her helmet and shook out her unruly silver hair. Jaskier stared at her, transfixed.
"Miss Pankratz?"
Blinking rapidly, Jaskier returned from her Geraldine-induced bleary state and turned back to her students, who stared at her in confusion, clarinets still in hand.
"Ah, sorry," Jaskier mumbled. "Got a little distracted. Eh, we still have like ten minutes left, right? How about I let you go earlier today?"
Naturally, her students didn't seem to mind. Jaskier would have yelled at them to treat their instruments with a bit more respect instead of shoving them in their bags so carelessly any other time, but her brain was too occupied with Geraldine. Which was a problem, since she's just told herself she would stop looking at her that way- as something she could never be.
Geraldine waited until the last student left the classroom then stepped inside with a small, cautious smile. The sight of her shifting from one foot to the other, teeth pulling on her lower lip nervously reminded Jaskier so much of the day she came there to ask Jaskier to play matchmaker. Jaskier sighed at the memory.
"Hey," Geraldine greeted her softly. "You're done for today?"
"Yeah. Had to send them home a little earlier, you know how fidgety kids can get."
Geraldine hummed. She stared down at her shoes as she crossed her arms over her chest. The frown between her brows deepened. Jaskier resisted the urge to kiss it off her face.
"Is something wrong?" Jaskier asked softly. "Did you... speak to Yennefer?"
"Not much," Geraldine admitted. "She's being a little distant, again."
"I'm sorry about that."
"Look," Geraldine finally lifted her head to look into Jaskier's eyes, "can we talk?"
"This sounds alarming," Jaskier admitted with a chuckle. "Did someone actually die this time?"
"What?"
"Forget it," Jaskier waved a dismissive hand. "How about we meet up at my place? I don't feel like having a clearly distressing conversation in my classroom, again."
Geraldine nodded. She raised a helmet, and Jaskier couldn't help but grin when she realized it was the helmet that Geraldine always lent her when she whined to her about wanting to ride her motorcycle. It was pink with tiny kittens on it, and Geraldine bought it specifically for her.
"I was gonna take you, anyway," Geraldine told her. She reached for Jaskier's hand. When their fingers touched, Jaskier's heart jumped inside her chest, filled with unnecessary, stupid hope. Her cheeks felt warm as Geraldine led her outside by the hand.
Having to sit behind Geraldine on her bike and wrapping her arms around her firm middle certainly wasn't helping Jaskier on her mission of forgetting about her feelings for her friend. Yet, she couldn't resist putting her chin up on her shoulder as they rode away.
Once they were inside Jaskier's flat, Geraldine's nerves seemed to return. She sat stiffly on Jaskier's couch, fiddling with one of Jaskier's stuffed animals. She twisted the soft little turtle in her hands, her knees bouncing nervously all the while. Jaskier dreaded the talk that was ahead of them.
"What is it?" She asked as she sat next to Geraldine. "You're scaring me."
"I don't know how to tell you," Geraldine admitted. She petted the plush turtle's head with a sigh. "I wish I was like you."
"Like me?"
"More communicative. You always say what's on your mind."
"Not always," Jaskier whispered. If that were true, she would have confessed her feelings to Geraldine already, but she was too chickenshit to do that.
"Still. You're better at things like that than I am."
"It's okay, Geraldine. Take your time."
Geraldine took a deep breath. She only looked at Jaskier from the corner of her eye as she said, "I'm in love with Yennefer."
It wasn't a surprise, obviously. Geraldine has been head over heels for that woman since she's first laid eyes on her, but somehow, Jaskier's chest still tightened like someone just stepped on her ribcage. It was one thing to draw conclusions from looking at her behavior, and another one to actually hear the words leave her mouth. And while this was exactly why Jaskier decided she would try and accept her place as only a friend, it still broke her heart, just a little bit.
And as messed up as it was, she didn't only hate hearing this because this meant she officially lost Geraldine, but because she lost Yennefer, too.
She forced a smile onto her face as she patted Geraldine's knee.
"I know that, you big sap. And I'm pretty sure she feels the same way. Seems like my matchmaking is paying off, eh?"
She was utterly confused by the wounded look Geraldine gave her.
"I don't know," she said quietly, "I don't know if she feels the same. She's acting weird again. Like, since our last date. Or whatever it even was."
"Yeah, she has a tendency to do that. But, since you managed to say the magic words out loud to me, now you just have to say them to her as well, and I'm sure the ice will break."
"Maybe," Geraldine bit her lip. She looked at Jaskier, and was that a blush on her cheeks?
"My family said I should be more honest about my feelings. That communication is the key."
"Yeah, well, you're getting there," Jaskier smiled. "Look at you, Miss I never want a relationship. You're ready to marry Yennefer already!"
"This isn't just about Yennefer."
Jaskier raised an eyebrow in question. "What do you mean this isn't just about her?"
Geraldine was never quite good with eye contact - it was rare she held it up for more than a few seconds. But now, she looked deeply into Jaskier's eyes, so deeply in fact, that it suddenly felt like she was staring right into her soul. The air was heavy around them. Jaskier felt short of oxygen.
"I don't want to lose you," Geraldine told her, her voice honest, pained. "I wouldn't survive if I did."
"Hey," Jaskier said softly as she reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. "You could never lose me. Not in this lifetime, that's for sure."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Okay, now you're really scaring me," Jaskier admitted, her heart hammering inside her chest nervously. "Geraldine, please, tell me what's wrong."
Geraldine swallowed audibly. She stared at Jaskier again, before her eyes flickered to her lips - and stayed there. Jaskier was about to ask what was wrong, again, but she never had the chance as Geraldine moved towards her, and pressed her lips against Jaskier's.
For a second, Jaskier was certain she died and went to Heaven, or at least was experiencing a beautiful dream. Because this couldn't have been real, that Geraldine's slightly chapped but still so soft lips were on hers, that her strong hands where on her thighs. There was no way she tasted coffee on Geraldine's breath, and she felt her hair tickling her face.
The memories of that one kiss from all those years ago flooded Jaskier's brain. She never would have thought she would ever experience it again, that their sloppy, drunk make-out session would repeat itself. But here they were, kissing on her couch with Jaskier's stupid plush turtle trapped between them, and they were sober this time.
Jaskier's hands flew up to tangle in Geraldine's hair, pulling her closer, holding on desperately. She may have whimpered into the kiss when Geraldine gently squeezed her leg. This was everything Jaskier wanted, what she's been craving for years, and she got it. Her dream came true.
So why did she suddenly pull away then, breaking the kiss with a horrified gasp?
It was because that dreamy teenage-like crush was smothered by logic, at last. Because Jaskier did promise herself she would extract herself from the Geraldine-Yennefer equation, and now here she was, kissing Geraldine back. That kiss... as good as it was, it couldn't be real. Because Geraldine just confessed to her that she was in love with Yennefer, so the only reason she kissed Jaskier was because she was looking for a stand-in. Geraldine even said it herself that she wasn't sure of Yennefer's intentions since she was acting so distant again, so she must have kissed Jaskier because her highly-strung emotions made her react irrationally.
"This is a mistake," Jaskier whispered, her voice choked up as frustrated tears started welling in her eyes. "I should not come between you two."
"Jaskier," Geraldine's voice was full of pain, and if Jaskier dared to look into her eyes, she would have probably seen they were too. "I don't think you understand..."
"No, no, I understand just right," Jaskier sniffled. "You're not sure Yennefer feels the same way, so you need something to take your mind off of her."
"What? That's not why I..."
"We promised each other we wouldn't repeat last time," Jaskier continued quietly, "that kiss. It was good. And this was good, too, but... you and Yennefer, you belong together. I don't fit into that picture."
She stood abruptly from the couch, knocking the plush turtle off. It rolled on the floor, staring up at her with a grin that now seemed mocking. Jaskier suddenly wanted to kick it.
"Jaskier," Geraldine whispered, "please, I'm trying to..."
"Get over Yennefer, I know. But you don't have to. I'm sure she feels the same way. Go, tell her. It's time for you to be honest."
"Jaskier..."
"Actually," Jaskier bit down on her lip hard, trying to will the ugly sobs to stay inside, "can you leave now? I forgot I have this, uh, important stuff to do. I'll text you later."
She barely saw Geraldine leaving through the tears. She heard her muttering something under her breath, then the door closing.
Jaskier looked down on the plush turtle on the floor. Tears streamed down her face as she gave in to the urge and kicked it as hard as she could, sending it flying over to the other side of the room.
Then, she sat down on the floor and started sobbing harder than she's ever done before.
--
She was such a pretty girl, and very eager, too. Her name was Chiara, if Yennefer remembered right. She smelled like vanilla and her hair was soft beneath Yennefer's fingers. Her sighs against Yennefer's lips sounded so lovely.
Her body was gorgeous, too, and she looked so good crawling over her on the bed with that teasing smirk. It was even more perfect when she dipped between Yennefer's spread legs, at last.
She was also very good with her tongue.
Yet, it was somehow all wrong. When Yennefer looked down on Chiara moving between her legs, she imagined silver hair, then brown. She imagined Geraldine's soft grunts and Jaskier's needy whimpers. Somehow, that way, the whole experience was a lot better. Yennefer closed her eyes and let the fantasy take her away, into Geraldine and Jaskier's arms, where her heart kept pushing her to.
She swore under her breath, hands fisted in the sheets. Not from the pleasure like she hoped, but from the sheer irritation she felt.
Yennefer was a strong-willed woman. If she put her mind to something, she would go through with it, no matter what.
So why couldn't she forget about those two morons? Why did they consume her every thought, why didn't they let her move on?
She looked down on Chiara again, and sighed.
Maybe she didn't have the ability to move on, but she could at least try and pretend to.

Halloween prompts year 2 day 10
Danny groaned, blearily raising his head from the nest of blankets and pillows he had made in his apartment. He had smelled something strange.
Something strong enough to wake him from his sleep. Danny got up and stumbled to the front door, cursing his luck for getting a fever so soon into his interdimentional road trip.
Peering out of his open doorway he saw a little kid shivering in the cold, badly hidden behind two trash cans in the mouth of an alley. Danny didn't think twice. In fact he didn't think at all. It wasn't uncommon for an Omega to smell a child who didn't have the scent of another Omega on them and immediately claim that child as thier own, and seeing as his home dimension had exclusively Omegas...let's just say there's a lot of drama in family court and a lot of laws pertaining to this.
So of course the next thing Danny knows is that the kid was bundled up inside his very soft and comfy makeshift nest before Danny passed out.
For the next week Danny had this mysterious fever and he acted like a parent on autopilot, barely conscious as he instinctually cared for the little boy. He made them food and cut them up into tiny bits to feed his baby and if it was handfoods like pizza rolls or sandwich triangles, Danny would hold him in his arms and rock his back and forth, humming softly as his child ate.
Eventually his heat ended (note that omegas from his world don't have heats, they don't have alphas and so they don't even know what a heat is) and Danny was very surprised he has a child in his house. But he and the baby are very emotionally attached to one another. When Danny asked what the little kids name was (and man this kid was little) the kid stared at him in the way little kids do before muttering the world "Clone" followed by what sounded suspiciously like a serial number.
Danny decided, nah. His kid now. Sucks to be the bioparent cause Danny doesn't wanna share.
Somewhere in the city, the bats were freaking out. They had raided a lab and discovered not only had one of them been cloned, but the clone had escaped and no one knew where it was. Cue panicked parental frenzy.

Well, when everyone is confused and pining but also very oblivious, pretty much everything.
Chapter summary: Yennefer agrees to spend some more quality time with Geraldine and Jaskier. It goes really well, which is exactly why it's bad.
Author's notes: I know it's been literal months, and I am really sorry, I swear! Life has been insane lately (it still is, but hopefully now it's the good kind), and I also felt somewhat blocked with this story. But here I am, bringing my idiot sapphics back!! Feedback, as always, is very appreciated!!!

It took about three hours of straight pleading on Jaskier's side for Yennefer to eventually give in.
Why she did, she wasn't completely sure. It was obvious that Geraldine wasn't all that into her, considering how quickly she fled the scene after their date, and for some reason, Jaskier seemed to be absolutely terrified of her. She certainly wasn't gonna get anywhere with either of them.
But for some reason, she still felt drawn to this strange duo. The endearing awkwardness of Geraldine, combined with an insanely sexy, muscular masc exterior and a gentle heart, the talkative, sunny optimism of Jaskier, combined with a strange, cynical sense of humor and adorable looks caught her in a cobweb of very confusing feelings.
The original plan was very simple: she laid her eyes on the sexy vet and immediately decided she would bed her. Which seemed to be going well, she even got a little help from said sexy vet's best friend, who also caught her attention. Actually, Yennefer was sort of hoping their little date would turn into a threesome - to her biggest disappointment, she didn't get to fuck either of them.
And now they were dragging her along to a ranch to try horseback riding, on a "definitely-not-date". Yennefer, despite promising herself she wouldn't try more quality time unless it ended up in sex, went along with it, and somehow, she even felt excited.
She cursed her heart for fluttering inside her chest the way it did when Geraldine walked out of the stable, leading a black stallion. She was simply a vision in her grey tank top that put her thick arms on display and those sinfully tight black jeans that gave Yennefer a perfect view of her round butt. For someone so buff, Geraldine looked adorably shy as she waved at Yennefer with her free hand. Yennefer tried to resist smiling at her, she really did- but she failed.
"Yen," Geraldine's voice wavered slightly. Yennefer swallowed at the nickname, her cheeks warming up. "It's good to see you again..."
"You're not gonna run away this time, are you?" Yennefer asked, with a little bit more venom than intended. Geraldine shook her head, her eyes full of guilt.
"I'm sorry, I know it was rude. It's just..."
"Hi, sorry I'm late!"
Yennefer turned around to see Jaskier strolling in. Her cheeks were slightly flushed from being in a hurry, and a few locks of her hair escaped her loose bun. The sight made Yennefer smile.
It was actually her condition to make Jaskier join them. She actually took a great liking to the sweet brunette, and when she imagined this day, she could only see the three of them together. Whenever it was just her and one of the duo, things weren't going well.
She watched as Jaskier and Geraldine greeted each other with a hug. It lasted a little too long for it to be friendly, Yennefer mused. Jaskier claimed there wasn't anything between them, but Yennefer wasn't completely sure of it. There was an exciting chemistry there, something that intrigued her deeply.
"So, uh," Geraldine said to Yennefer eloquently as they parted with Jaskier, "this is Roach."
Yennefer snorted. "Are you seriously telling me that you named both your cat and your horse Roach?"
"That's the only name she knows," Jaskier chuckled, gently elbowing Geraldine in the side. She gave her that look again, that one full of love. Yennefer has noticed it before. It made something weird tingle inside her chest.
"It's a good name," Geraldine murmured. She smiled at Jaskier so gently, that strange sensation inside Yennefer flared up again.
"The one I ride is called Gordon," Jaskier explained, pulling Yennefer out of her thoughts. "He's a lovely old fellow. Perfect for amateur horseriders like myself."
"How are you feeling today?" Geraldine asked softly. Yennefer found it harder and harder to be mad at her when she was being so kind. "Your legs?"
"They'll handle it," Yennefer replied, "for a couple of hours, definitely."
"Then I'll get you Samantha. She's super calm."
Geraldine handed Yennefer her own horse's reins while she walked back inside to get Yennefer's mare. Yennefer turned to Jaskier with a questioning look.
"Do you guys do this often?"
"Geraldine is a real horse girl," Jaskier laughed softly. "She dragged me here a couple of times, but then I actually fell in love."
"With whom?" Yennefer asked. She was surprised to find her voice missed its usual teasing edge: it was a genuine question.
Jaskier didn’t reply, but the flush on her cheeks spoke volumes. For about the thousandth time that day, Yennefer's chest felt warm with an indescribable emotion.
--
Yennefer never would have thought she would ever enjoy something like this, and yet, here she was, grinning from ear to ear like a fool as she patted Samantha's neck. The horse was the sweetest thing, so patient and gentle. Yennefer hadn't ridden a horse before, but she felt safe.
Maybe that was not only because of the mare, but because of the people she was with. The awkwardness that always lingered around them was nowhere to be seen: being with Jaskier and Geraldine felt natural.
She watched their banter, their easy, familiar dynamic: the way they knew each other so well, understanding each other without words. How different they were, and how well they still worked. Yennefer wondered why there was nothing more than friendship between them, allegedly: they would have made a perfect couple.
She found herself falling into a similarly easy rhythm with them: it was a lot of fun to tease, and be teased by Jaskier. They bantered as if they had known each other for ages, with a gentle playfulness that made Yennefer feel like it was the most normal, most simple thing in the whole world. Geraldine was more talkative than last time; she even cracked a couple of jokes that weren’t exactly the best, but they were still endearing. Yennefer felt herself growing more and more intrigued with the both of them.
It was strange, because the chemistry was right there from the start, with both Geraldine and Jaskier. But something seemed to be missing all along, something that made it impossible for Yennefer to truly click with either of them. Now, it seemed like that missing puzzle piece was slotting into its place: it only truly worked if the three of them were together.
Now, that was lovely, except for one thing, and that realization nearly knocked Yennefer out of the saddle.
Because as she listened to Jaskier’s giggling, as she watched Geraldine murmur gentle endearments into her horse’s ear, she started to understand what that weird feeling inside her chest meant. It was a feeling that Yennefer desperately tried to avoid, and she managed to so far, or so she thought. It has been there all along, lingering beneath the surface, but now it was obvious. Spending time with the both of them in a way that wasn’t as staged as last time, Yennefer realized that she’s started falling for them. And that was dangerous, because that was not how Yennefer planned it. She wanted this to be casual, a fun little game with two insanely hot women who clearly wanted to jump each other’s bones, and Yennefer hoped they would want to jump hers, too. She just wanted passion, searing, burning hot passion that fizzled out a couple days later and then they would all go on their merry ways. That was the safe option- not developing feelings for not just one, but two people at the same time.
“You okay?” Jaskier asked gently, slowing Gordon down next to her. Yennefer forced a smile onto her face.
“Yeah. I guess my legs are just getting tired.”
“We can go back to the stables,” Geraldine offered. “There’s a little café…”
“Yeah, I think that would be the best,” Yennefer said quickly. Her previous good mood turned sour quickly. Suddenly, all she wanted was to go home. It made no sense, because the reason she wanted to disappear was that exact happiness she felt next to her companions.
She saw Geraldine and Jaskier sharing a look from the corner of her eyes, but they didn’t press it further, thank God. Yennefer wasn’t even sure what she could offer as an explanation. Sorry, guys, I only wanted a threesome, but it seems like I caught feelings for both of you?
How would that even work, Yennefer mused bitterly as they rode back to the stables in utter silence. She didn’t fit into this picture anyway. Jaskier and Geraldine were made to be, they were just too blind to see it. Who was she, to come and interfere with their perfect dynamic, to smear filth all over their sweet relationship?
Yennefer never thought herself to be a very kind person, but she wasn’t that cruel. This thing that started out as just fun, was quickly turning serious on all parts – she saw it today, in the way Geraldine gently reached over to fix the way she was holding the reins, in the way Jaskier’s cheeks pinkened when she smiled at her. Geraldine ran away last time because she fell for Yennefer, and couldn’t handle it. Jaskier acted all weird when they were cat-sitting together, maybe she has started looking at Yennefer differently, too.
Fuck it all, this wasn’t a game anymore. There were hearts on the line. And maybe with someone else, Yennefer wouldn’t even care about that. But not with these two.
She closed her eyes, trying to will her heart to stay still when Geraldine helped her off her horse. Her big, warm hands lingered a beat longer on Yennefer’s waist, and she looked at her like she wanted to say something, just didn’t know how. Behind her, Jaskier was uncharacteristically silent, chewing on her bottom lip. Her big blue eyes searched Yennefer’s face, almost pleading. Yennefer couldn’t take it anymore.
“I… I had a lot of fun,” she squeezed out between gritted teeth, already backing away. “We’ll talk later, okay?”
“Drive safe,” Jaskier called after her softly. Yennefer could feel their eyes on her back as she walked away. She cursed beneath her breath when she felt tears stinging her eyes.
God, what was she supposed to do now?

WEEKS in some cases#or we get anons who tell us the reason we dont have notes are because we arent good at gifmaking in the first place#but this is all on anon. because they're too scared to tell it to our faces#they're too scared for us to see that they ARENT a gifmaker and that they dont know how to do it any better either#they dont see us as people doing something we love as a hobby. they see us as content machines that dance like court jesters#im just so fucking tired of the disrespect#and this sentiment goes for more than just gifmakers. graphicmakers. artists. literally any creative hobby shared on this site#we get treated like shit and for what? literally for fucking what.

The fact that Essek storms off "in a huff" and is literally brought to tears when he sees Caleb mourning Molly...there's just so many interesting implications for shadowidomauk there.
It's the fact that Essek saw Caleb kiss Molly on the forehead the way he kissed him--saw Caleb repeat these familiar phrases in battle to Lucien that he once used to comfort Essek. Essek learning Caleb's love language, and seeing it reflected in how he treats Mollymauk.
It's Essek seeing Caleb at his lowest, at his most desperate and hopeless--how very wrong it feels to see him like this, how painful it is to watch him fall apart over losing Mollymauk. "Caleb Widogast, have you ever accepted defeat?"
Because of all things, it is Molly's death that leaves Caleb more brokenhearted than Essek's ever seen him, the only time he's ever truly admitted to knowing defeat--"Maybe today. For the first time." The way Caleb came all this way and tried so desperately to save him, and it still wasn't enough. He poured his whole heart and soul into that ritual, and it just wasn't enough.
Essek being moved by the Nein's own grief, choked up and crying for this person that he never even met. Insisting over and over, "It's not fair--it's not fair...We've just all come so far. It's not fair." And it's the moment that Caleb kisses Molly on the forehead and says his goodbyes that really breaks Essek's heart, the passion and gutting loss of Caleb's own grief that sends Essek storming off and fighting back tears.
Do you think...Essek ever tells Kingsley what happened that day? How hard Caleb tried to save him--how much it shattered him when Tealeaf was still lying dead in his arms? Do you think he ever told King about the forehead kiss and how tender Caleb was with him--how he must surely love him? Do you think Essek admits that even he was crushed when Tealeaf didn't wake, that he never knew him before, but still mourned him all the same?
Do you think he ever quietly tells Kingsley that he's happy he came back, how much it means to him--especially for Caleb's sake--
Do you think Kingsley ever kisses either of the wizards on the forehead and everything just. Kinda falls into place for Essek--
