Some other Lokis that i love that arent marvel or disneymarvel Loki in no particular order
Norse Mythology Loki. While there probably isn't a huge divide, this specifically refers to Neil Gaiman's portrayal of myth Loki, and even more specifically in the audiobook where he gets to give Loki's voice more character.
Melvin Burgess' Loki. Hilarious, queer, a hero and kind of pathetic all in one go. What's not to love? Literally anyone who likes Loki can get behind this novel's depiction of the Norse myths.
The Sandman Loki. He's got a great design and he's a bastard. He's so unnecessarily horrible. He causes the worst problems. Excellent bastard villain. Neil Gaiman just Gets It when it comes to Loki.
Supernatual Loki. Who was actually Gabriel. Funniest troublesome little bastard ever. Changing Channels is one of the best episodes. A fan favourite for a reason.

Hmm so there’s a new book about Loki by Melvin Burgess out and do we even want to know how Sigyn is portrayed? Considering the big twist in this story is Baldr and Loki being love…maybe not.

You listen to them, teachers, parents, politicians. They're always saying, if you steal you're a thief, if you sleep aroung you're a slut, if you take drugs you're a junkie. They want to get inside your head and control you with their fear. ...Don't play their game. Nothing can touch you; you stay beautiful.

Read several books about Loki and Sigyn, which were marked with hashtag ‘justice for sigyn’. All of them are written by really talented people (I’m often baffled by situations when fans write better stories than professional writers – why do the latter get their money?). After reading I can’t agree on some specific points in these books that rubbed me wrong.
Contains spoilers!
Cat Rector ‘The Goddess of Nothing at all’ – the story is strong. A well-written book, pleasure to read. But. Even here, on Tumblr, I read lots of meta and criticism ‘Angrboda wasn’t Loki’s mistress! She was his wife before Sigyn!’. And the author goes this standard way ‘Angrboda is Loki’s mistress’. It works for this story, but it’s in lots and lots of books about Norse myths! Why NOT make her a mistress? Why go a typical way? The ending – I loved the ending. A new All-mother Sigyn – chef’s kiss.
Nicki Chapelway ‘The Harbinger of the end’ (1st book) – an interesting take on Volsung saga, the adventures were really engaging. But, frankly, I didn’t understand why Sigyn fell in love with Loki. I mean, they never had any meaningful conversations or actions between two of them to start love. She just decides ‘I’m a wife, I must love him, and also he’s handsome’. That’s it! Next morning she acts as if she’s deeply in love with him. It seemed as if the author wanted to go into slowburn, but didn’t manage to pull it off and just jumped to the moment when they’re already in love.
Lyra Wolf ‘Truth and other lies’ – again, where’s Sigyn as the Goddess of Victory? So much for all these cries in the internet and on Tumblr specifically ‘but she’s not the Goddess of Fidelity! Marvel just made it up!’. Then WHY use this trope? Not saying it’s a bad idea in and on itself, but it’s so established in general public’s mind. Why not change it? Why not at least combine these two elements – fidelity AND victory?
Surprisingly, only Melvin Burgess writes Sigyn as the Goddess of Victory. Burgess! It was the single thing I liked in this book. Of course, he didn’t give justice to her, but at least he named her title right.
Of course, I guess, nothing can beat the Marvel comics – they’re the first to blame for this Fidelity mess and general treatment of Sigyn. Lots of nowadays popular books are based on comics portrayal. I believe fan books should go as far from these typical Logyn tropes as possible.

Thank you for the tag @verminetroglodyte my Byron buddy 😆❤️
Last show/movie: Renfield. Nic Cage at his most gothicly camp and loving every minute! It was just like the hammer horror films of my childhood... With less heaving cleavage.
Currently watching: I shall be wrapping up the Mandalorian tomorrow and I think we've got The Legend Of Vox Machina lined up next. (I'm still sulking we don't have Quantom Leap here in the UK yet 😑)
Currently reading: My bedside reading pile currently consists of Loki by Melvin Burgess, Life Isn't Binary by Meg - John Baker and Alex Iantiffi and The Sandman Book of Dreams edited by Neil Gaimon and Ed Karmer. I chaotically bounce between them.
Current obsession: Still The Sandman! Show and comics. After a six month autumn/winter laser focus on Dreaming I'm now branching out to explore that great big Sandman universe and loving the socks off every new character and ship I find ❤️. I'm currently busy adoring the Endless Twins, those little mayhem munsters. 😆

“Smack” by Melvin Burgess
Tumblr media
“Sometimes maybe you need an experience. The experience can be a person or it can be a drug. The experience opens a door that was there all the time but you never saw it. Or maybe it blasts you into outer space...All that negative stuff. All the pain...It just floated away from me, I just floated away from it...up and away...” -Melvin Burgess, “Smack” … What were you doing at 14? What was your life like? What were you into? In Melvin Burgess’ novel “Smack,” the main characters, Tar and Gemma, run away from home at 14 and find themselves in a squatter's life. After some time living away from home, the punk scene engulfs the main characters and leads them into a life filled with heroin. A dependence on both drugs and one another create a toxic codependency for most of their teenage years. “Smack” shows the hard life that some teens lead, but has a slight happy ending. The novel is told from multiple perspectives, which allows readers to see the narrative from each character. However, this aspect can leave the reader confused, as there are almost 10 narrators. The story from various perspectives is hard to understand what is happening in the novel, as different points of view have varying ways of thinking, especially about the main topics of the novel: heroin, abuse, squatting, anarchy, teen runaways, pregnancy, and much more. “Smack” is a rough story and it was my least favorite of the year so far. If I didn’t have to read this novel for a class, I would have put it back on the shelf. Not only is the subject matter hard to digest, but Burgess’s writing style isn’t amazing either. From the oddly paced narrative with too many characters to keep track of, the story is lost through the lack of characters to root for. It is hard to find a protagonist in the novel, and most of the characters are unlikeable as their decisions become fueled by addiction. “Smack” has been the hardest novel to get through this year, and it leaves readers with a sour taste in their mouths. … I give Melvin Burgess’s 1998 novel: ⭐️ Completed: May 9, 2022

'It's a huge problem' | Memphis area buyers, realtors warn that outside investors continue to be an issue
Turn your home into an expensive rental? Realtors urge homeowner associations to put a stop to this- limiting available homes for local families. In the past two years, outside investment groups that don't have any ownership in Shelby County bought more than 7,000 single-family homes. Sell My House For Cash Memphis TN Brittany Benefield from Memphis stated that the lack of available homes is causing rental prices to increase and homeownership to become less attainable for many people. "Having that chance taken each time—it's frustrating but it's also disheartening too," Benefield said. Since December, she's been looking for a home after being rejected from six different offers in Memphis - all for the same reasons. "Every single time it's been an investor cash offer that's taken it away," Benefield said. According to those in the Memphis-area real estate market, an increasing number of prospective homebuyers are finding themselves in Benefield's position. This is because local buyers often get outbid by out-of-state investors who pay all cash and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars above the asking price. "They have unlimited pockets and they are boxing out our families and that's tough to deal with," Kevin Stafford at Integrity Mortgage Group said. "These investors now are literally sitting on properties to drive up the market, to drive up the rent and it's going to cripple America," Ashley Stafford at Integrity Mortgage Group said. Investors are purchasing so many local houses that many would-be purchasers are giving up, according to the pair. "We have customers that have put in for 20, 30 properties and they are in no better spot today than they were three months ago," Kevin Stafford said. Homeowner associations, according to Ashley Stafford, must fight the trend on their own terms. "As a homeowner, you can go to your local Homeowner Associations and you can get it changed to where LLCs can't come in and rent in your neighborhood," she said. "I think that's where everyone should start." The realtor advised homeowners to consider the long-term ramifications versus the short-term benefits when deciding whether or not to sell their house. "It's just important for them to consider a family over an investor," Ashley Stafford said. "It's going to ruin the economy—there's a bigger picture here." Despite her local housing market difficulties, Benefield is not giving up. "I'm not trying to get too discouraged," Benefield said. "I'm not stopping my look because it is a goal of mine to own a home—to do it all by myself." Shelby County Assessor Melvin Burgess asked the Shelby County attorney what zoning options could possibly limit home purchases by outside investors for homeowner associations.
