System Headcanons

"getting rid" of Mal after juvie was a massive group effort and more the equivalent of shoving him in the trunk while he was sleeping

Mike lied about the reset button

Svetlana and Mal are besties

Manitoba is the gatekeeper and constantly has tabs on what's going on in their brain

Mal split from Vito, not Mike

Mike isn't actually the original, there was another "Mike" for most his life and the one we know didn't come into play until after juvie. all of them either know or suspect this but never say a word

Chester is an introject of their biological grandpa who took care of them when they were little

Mal is extremely touch averse

Vito has a ton of exomemories but doesn't talk about them often because he gets homesick

Svetlana has a lot of gender dysphoria when she's fronting

a bad head injury "created" Mal and messed up their vision in their left eye, which is why Chester squints and Mal hides it (and the scar) with his hair

Mike is still processing his diagnosis during the show

i’m gonna say something controversial yet brave: sexuality labels are a convenient tool we use to define something that is undefinable

hcs for the system's sports

kickboxing (Mike and Mal)

Mike kickboxing is sorta canon, he picked it up pretty young bc he was absolutely ecstatic that he could do cool fighting moves like his favorite movies

once Mal stabilizes a little, he gets talked into trying beating the shit out of people in a safe environment (totally not as therapy), but he has some issues with going too far and/or losing his temper, eventually will only do it with friends who can tell when he's about to lose it and call a time out

gymnastics (Svet obviously)

her specialty is vault, but she does floor too

she has to compete in the men's section but is openly a woman and they get bullied a lot for it

Mike secretly wishes she would stay closeted but she shines so bright when she's in the gym that he feels bad about saying anything and never does. they graduate and move before his resentment boils over

she's not actually Olympic level but she's pretty decent and hits province level consistently

she joins a queer gym when they're adults and eventually ends up co-coaching a team of kids

cross country (Mike and occasionally Manitoba or Svetlana)

mostly Mike's but Manitoba likes the trails and Svet thinks it's a good off day activity

Manitoba got him lost in the woods during a cross country meet once and he never lives it down

after that the others are banned from voluntarily switching in for meets or practice

Svet still goes for weekend runs sometimes, especially if she has friends to do it with (mostly Zoey or Jo)

track (Mike, but Svet and Vito have been known to take over practice for him when he's not feeling good)

he does the 3000, 800, 300m hurdles, and pole vault

he's good at the 3000, enjoys the challenge of the 800, kinda sucks at 300m hurdles but enjoys it anyways, and got put in pole vault by the coach because he's actually really good at it, he doesn't mind the event but wishes he didn't have to juggle a field event during meets

wrestling (Mike and Vito)

it's a filler sport for the winter season

Vito switches in for practice sometimes if Mike's not feeling good

weight lifting (Vito)

Mike's rule is don't do it at school (mostly because he doesn't trust Vito to behave and doesn't want to seem even weirder), but there's a gym close by so they go there a lot

rock climbing/hiking/backpacking (Manitoba)

not much opportunity until they move out, but then Mani joins an outdoors club, he drags Scott along sometimes

Leviathan, who'd do anything to hide himself away and disconnect from other people, following you anywhere you want to go. He'll brave crowds, embarrassment, and the worst anxiety to be by your side.

Satan, on a never-ending quest for information and respect, teaching you anything. He'll share his knowledge only for you, telling you everything you want to know and finding the answer to all your questions.

Asmodeus, always perfect and pristine in every way, showing you his vulnerable side. The side no one else knows of. His tears and insecurities are visages reserved only for you.

Beelzebub, gluttonous for immediate satisfaction, holding himself back for your sake. Waiting to eat because he knows you'll be cooking for him. Waiting to savor it. Waiting so he can share with you and make your day just a little brighter.

Belphegor, a sloth with little intrinsic motivation, pushing himself for your sake. Staying up later and later to stay around you. Not just in a dream, but the real you. Doing better in school so that you and your praise can be his reward.
