Breath.
Just breathe.
In and out, like you always do.
You can do this. Just hold your ground. Don’t move from in front of Natasha. Keep yourself between the gun and her.
Your father won’t shoot you, he would never, so the best way to protect your girlfriend is to make sure you're in the way of him getting a clean shot at her. If there's even the slightest chance the cullet could hit you on its way to Natasha you know your father won't fire.
Oh god. How did you get here? Five minutes ago you were in bed, in Natasha’s arms, planning on going for a swim to relax you. You were happy, so happy to be with your love after not seeing her for a week.
A week you spent trying to look after your father since he decided he would not eat or sleep until he “finished his work on an important case.” He didn’t tell you then but you knew he was talking about Natasha. He had that look on his face that seemed reserved for your girlfriend. A look of desperation, he needed to stop the person doing all these “horrific things” to people. He needed to make sure the world was just that little bit safer for his little girl.
While it is sweet of your father to want to protect you, to want to make the streets safer for you, he does not need to protect you from Natasha. He just doesn't realize it. If anything Natasha would be your most fearless protector, along with your father, you just have to make him see that. You have to let him see that, after all the time you spent hiding it from him. Hiding her from him.
“Dad.” You try again. “Please. Put the gun down.”
Silence.
That’s all you get in response to your plea. Dead silence.
Although he says nothing verbally, the expression on his face is a dead give away to what he is thinking, to you at least. His brain is working overtime right now to understand what he is seeing in front of him. Why would you, his daughter, be in the home of the woman he is trying to put behind bars. A woman who, according to him, deserved to spend the rest of her life rotting in the very cell he intends to put her in himself.
“Dad.” You beg, taking a small step forward. “Please.”
You sound scared, he thinks to himself. But why would you be scared? You know that he would never hurt you. Never. He’s here now and he’s going to make sure you get home safely. He won’t let anything bad happen to you.
Looking you in the eye and seeing the pure panic that lay behind them, your father comes to a conclusion. You are afraid, but not of him, you're afraid of Natasha. She must have taken you to get to him. How else would you have ended up in her house?
Giving you a quick once over with his eyes he is relieved to see no obvious injuries. If he had gotten here any later she may have hurt you, the thought sends a wave of rage through him. Now he was not only going to make sure she would rot in a cell, he was going to watch it happen and take pride in it. No one hurt his little girl and got away with it. No one. He doesn’t care who she is or how powerful. She’s made a big mistake bringing you into this.
Squaring his shoulders and locking his jaw your father calls out to you. “It’s okay y/n. I’m here now. Get behind me, I’ll get you out of here safe, I promise.”
Confusion flashes on your face for a second before you realize what he means. He must think you are scared of Natasha, not for her. Of course he does, he has no reason to believe any differently. He must think she kidnapped me, you realize. God this is just going to make things worse.
Raising your hands you take another small step toward the man who raised you. “Dad please. I need you to put your gun down. W- I need to talk to you about something.”
Behind you Natasha remains quiet, not wanting to interfere with whatever you were doing. She knows your father won’t hurt you, though she can’t say he’ll extend the same promise of safety to her. She knows he won’t, he has no reason to believe her to be anything other than what she’d had to pretend to be in front of him, a cold hearted criminal. At this point she doesn’t care though. Seeing you standing there, between her and the barrel of a gun, she finds herself the most scared she’s ever been. As long as you get out of this unharmed, in any way, she doesn’t care what happens to her.
Desperation is clear on your face as you wait for him to lower his gun. If he’d just listen to you and put it down you could explain what is going on and maybe then he could leave, in peace.
Seeing that he is not about to do so you step away from your father, back towards Natasha, shielding her body with yours as best you can. You’d be damned if you let anything happen to her.
Seeing your willingness to be close to Natasha confuses your father. He’s here now he can protect you, he can take you home where you’ll be safe. Why are you not running to him so he can get you out of there? He takes note of your stance then. Why are you standing as though you are trying to protect her?
“Y/n, what are you doing? Come over here. Now, so I can keep you safe.”
“No.” You reply calmly, trying to keep him as calm as possible for as long as possible, until you could find a way out of this.
“No? What do you mean no? Now, y/n. I’m not asking this time. Move.” The frustration and confusion in his voice is evident. There's something else in there too, something he’s clearly trying to hide. He sounds hurt. Hurt that you seem to be protecting this “criminal” from him, someone who has loved and taken care of you your whole life.
“I said no.” You respond, not a hint of uncertainty in your voice. “I’m not moving until you listen to me and put that thing down.”
“Y/n I swear to god if you don’t get over here right now.” Your father responds, frustration building in his voice as he raises it. “Whatever it is you need to talk to me about you can tell me later. Right now you need to stop talking and get out of my way so I can get you out of here and take this criminal to prison.”
“But-”
“NO!” He shouts, making you flinch slightly. “I’ve worked too long and too hard to get here. She needs to be put in a cell y/n don’t you understand that? The world will be much safer without her. Think of all the people who would still be alive right if not for her. I’m going to put her where she belongs, rotting in jail. She’s nothing but a scare left on the earth. Don’t mess this up. Get over here, now, where you're not in my way.”
“Dad…” You try again, voice small as you speak.
“Honestly y/n, as if this isn’t stressful enough for me. Of course you have to go and add to an already draining day by becoming a problem.”
Hurt clouds your eyes at the dismissive and angry way your father speaks to you. He’s never raised his voice at you, not even when you were younger and did something that got you into trouble. You know his sudden cold, hard treatment toward you is purely born out of concern for your safety and his recent lack of sleep but still, it hurts being spoken to that way.
Seeing the way you deflate at your fathers words has Natasha furrowing her brows. He shouldn’t be talking to you this way, you’ve done nothing wrong. She just wants to offer you some comfort right now, as well as needing some herself. She hates to see you shrink in on yourself at the tone your father is taking with you but she also hates the way he speaks about her. The cruel way he describes her is making her self doubt, that she isn’t doing her best, that she isn’t doing the right thing, that you and everyone else around her would be better off without her, grow.
Forgetting herself and her current predicament, Natasha takes a small step forward so that her front is flush with your back and brings her arms up to wrap around you. Moving her head to rest on your shoulder she takes in a deep breath, letting your comforting scent wash over her, as she tries to hold back tears.
Feeling safe in her arms you allow yourself to close your eyes for a moment, trying to gather your thoughts.
With the two of you so wrapped up in each other neither of you see the way your father reacts to the scene before him.
The second Natasha had taken her step toward you he had his gun fixed in place ready to take a shot at her, there was no way he was going to risk letting her hurt you. His worry for you only increased as he watched her bring her arms around you. Thinking it to be a taunt, your father moved to take the safety off the gun, readying himself to take a shot at her.
Seeing the way you sigh in relief in her hold has him pausing, it’s as though being in her arms has momentarily released all the tension from your body as he watches you visibly relax. There is absolutely no way she could have gotten that reaction from you unless you both know and trust her.
Taking the moment of silence to think back on your behavior for the last while certain things catch in his mind. Nights you would come home from a day out with “friends” with the biggest, brightest smile on your face. Mornings after returning home from staying with “friends” when you would almost float around the house, seeming so relaxed and content with life. There were times when you would be upset, be it because of a fight with friends or pressures of college and all you would want is to call your “friend” or go to stay with them, either way you always came back in much higher spirits. Then there were all the times he caught you smiling at your phone like an idiot, texting someone you proclaimed was your friend Mikayla, though he knew better. There were also times when you would come home with flowers, a teddy or some new, but clearly worn, clothes that had a different perfume to yours on them.
All the signs pointed to you seeing someone, someone who made you incredibly happy and he was so proud and excited for you to have found someone who could make you feel that way. He swore to himself that when he met the person who made his daughter happier than he’s ever seen her he would thank them wholeheartedly for taking care of his little girl. He just never thought the person he would be taking to be Natasha.
Still though, your father knows you, he knows he raised you right. There is no way you would be with Natasha unless you saw something in her he cannot yet see. There must be something he is missing here. Seeing the way she holds you so delicately yet protectively only affirms his theory. The woman he thought he knew would never have shown such love and comfort to others.
Realizing that the fear he picked up on from you minutes ago was caused by him and not Natashas and seeing the tear mark on your face from the way he just spoke to you, your father lowers his gun.
“Y/n.” He calls out to you, making both you and Natasha open your eyes to look at him. Natasha’s hold on you tightening as she awaits your fathers next move.
“I’m sorry. I should never have spoken to you that way, I should have never held a gun to you.” Moving his line of sight slightly to your left he locks eyes with Natasha. “Either of you.”
The woman he is seeing before him is nothing like the one who sat before him, countless times, in an interrogation room. While the Natasha he knew before was one built of false confidence and arrogance, the one before him now is the real her. Now he can see the woman behind the cold unfeeling mob boss character she has made for herself. She’s just a person, one who has and continues to take such good care of his daughter. He can see in her eyes how much his words hurt her and he regrets it. He doesn’t yet know what exactly led you both to this situation but he knows he has to take the time to hear you both out before he makes any decisions about what he is going to do next.
Putting the safety back on the gun he puts it into the holster. Gesturing toward the couches to his left he speaks again. “I’m ready to listen. Please, tell me everything. I need to understand.”
Pulling away from each other, you and Natasha share a look of hesitation. Nodding her head Natasha takes your hand and leads you to sit on the sofa next to her, on the one across from your father.
After what was a very odd exchange between Natasha and your father, where she asked him if he would like anything to drink and addressing him as “Sir”, the three of you sat in silence.
Natasha is nervous, you can tell by the way she absentmindedly plays with your fingers on your lap. She wants your dad to like her, she needs to win his approval. She just wants him to like her so she can continue to date his daughter… and some day marry her.
Her nervousness to impress him lingers through your whole explanation to your father as you tell him everything he wants to know. How long you've been together, how you met, who else knows, if you've ever been put in a dangerous situation as a result of your relationship. That last question causes you to laugh as you answer that other than this one time, when your father pointed a gun at you, that Natasha always kept you safe and very rarely involved you in anything to do with business.
Next it was Natasha's turn to speak. He wanted to know of her role in the mobs of New York, to which she answered with complete honesty. She told him of her rules to keep other gangs in line, to keep civilians safe, and how when someone was to cross a line they had to be punished to keep other gangs in line. She told him about her sister and how she ended up taking over for her father to run the family business. She told him anything and everything he wanted to know.
Thinking about it, your father realizes that in all his time working on Natasha’s case he has never once come across any civilians harmed by Natasha or anyone in her gang. Not only that but the people who had fallen victim to Natasha had all be on the police radar for various crimes involving anthing from murder to child trafficking. She was helping keep people safe all along, putting herself in harm's way, and he didn’t even realize it.
As Natasha sits and waits for your fathers verdict on her she begins to bounce her leg. Placing your hand on her leg you try to calm her by rubbing circles on her skin with your thumb.
Picking up on Natasha’s nerves, your father speaks up, his mind still trying to catch up to all the information he’d been given. “It’s nice to finally meet the person who makes my daughter so happy. The real Natasha, if you will. Though I wish it was under better circumstances. I want to thank you for taking such good care of her.”
Your fathers words cause a big smile to form on Natasha’s face as she answers timidly. “Honestly Sir, it’s an honor to love her, she makes me just as happy, if not more. Your daughter is special, you did an amazing job raising her.”
“Thank you, I did my best. She is special isn’t she, always has been. Even when she was very young I knew she would be. She always had some much kindness in her, so much love to give. I’m glad she’s found someone to return the love she gives.”
A look of understanding falls over both their faces then. They could forget whatevers happened in the past, they can get along for your sake. Their mutual love for you can be enough for them to be friendly with each other.
Something flashes on your fathers face then. Realization. He’s just remembered something.
“Dad? What's wrong?” You hesitantly ask, concern clear in your voice. You don’t like the look on his face, he almost looks guilty.
Sighing he looks at Natasha as he speaks. “I should not have come here. I-I wasn’t even supposed to. I don’t have a warrant. My plan was to catch you off guard and take you to the station along with whatever evidence I would have found here to put you away. When asked how I ended up here I was going to say I saw you dragging a girl, maybe ten years younger then you by the hair in here, while she kicked and screamed to get away. I have someone lined up to make a false statement as your victim, their family is in on it, they were going to say she had been missing for five years. I have fake reports on standby at the station as to when she went missing and any other necessary documents to back up their statements. I was going to “rescue” her and take her to the station with us. She was to say you kidnapped her and abused her for years. I have a makeup artist ready to create fake bruises, cuts, hand prints on her, anything and everything to make it seem as though the girl had been all but tortured. All of which she would say were given to her by you. I have friends at the station who I called in a favor for who were to “overlook” the credibility of the marks on her. I had everything lined up to put you away for good. The case would have been airtight and there would have been no way for you to get out of it. You would have been put in a prison with other kidnappers, abusers, murders and sex offenders.” Hanging his head in shame, your father rubs at his forehead, as if thinking to himself, what was I thinking.
Hearing your fathers confession has all the color draining from Natasha’s face. No one would have believed her if she said your father was lying, if she told the truth that he had broken into her home and held her at gunpoint. It would be her word, a known “criminal” in the NYC FBI station against his, one of the top ranking FBI agents of NYC, along with her alleged victim’s statements.
If you weren’t here, if your father got to go through with his plan, she would be locked up for good. She would never be able to see you again, never be able to hold you or hear your voice. She would have been tossed into jail with the type of people who actually committed crimes like the one she would have been charged for and much worse, never again to see the light of day. The thought makes her grip on you tighten visibly, her hands shaking slightly. Fear for what could have happened to her shaking her to her core.
She knew your father disliked her, hell if the roles were reversed she knows damn well she wouldn’t be fond of him either, but to go as far as to break into her home and threaten her? To have someone make a fake statement against her as a kidnapper and abuser? She never thought he would go that far.
What if she had resisted arrest? What if she refused to go with him, threatened to out him as a lier and ruin his reputation? What if he had arrived later while you were asleep or in the pool? Would he have shot her? Would he have killed her in her own home with you meters away?
Feeling the way Natasha’s hand shakes, you bring your own hands up to hold hers trying to ground her. Sparing your father a glance, you look at your father with shock and disappointment on your face. How could he do something like that, to anyone. He must have been desperate to put her away but that doesn’t excuse the terrible thing he was about to do to your girlfriend.
Moving to bring your arms up to wrap around Natasha you pull her into you. Her shoulders begin to shake as her body is overrun with the need to cry. All of this is too much to take in at one go, she just needs to be held by you. Rubbing her back you whisper reassurances, trying to calm her down, repeating over and over again your promise that she is safe. That she won’t be going to prison with all those awful people who would hurt her. That you won’t let anyone take her away from you and her family.
Watching the scene before him brings so much guilt to your fathers chest. How could he be so reckless? He was about to ruin this woman's life. He was about to put her in more danger then, he can now see, she would ever let you get close to. He made a mistake, a huge one. He needs to make it better.
“I’m sorry.” He repeats. “I can fix this, just let me make a few calls to call everything off an-”
“I don’t want to hear it.” You cut him off, still holding Natasha in your arms, though her breathing has evened out now. “Fix this. Now. I don’t care how you do it. I don’t care if this reflects badly on you or if you have to face consequences, you should. You nearly ruined her life, she would have been left defenseless in there. You nearly took her away from me. She could have died in there, do you know how many people she anonymously helped you guys put behind bars? They would have killed her, or worse.” Hearing you reaffirm her fears on her faith if your father had succeeded has Natasha gripping onto you, as if she’s afraid she’ll be ripped from your arms and dragged off to that place.
“I’ll fix this. Right now. I’ll be right back.”
Watching your father walk toward the back door you pray to anyone who will listen that he can undo his mistake.
He’s staying where you can see him and he’s left the door open so you can hear everything he’s saying. He wants to prove you can trust him.
For Natasha’s sake you hope to god you can. For his sake aswll, because if he fails do undo what he’s done. If he actually does put Natassha into that awful place, if he takes her away from you.
You're not sure how far you’ll go to get her back.

Don’t Cry
A/N: Despite the title, I swear this is fluffy. This has been sitting in my finished works for like two months and I’m not sure why I didn’t post it, but here it is. This hasn’t been edited/looked over, so I apologize for any mistakes!
Here’s a link to my Masterlist! Here’s a link to my Taglist!
Warnings: Violence, injuries (let me know if I need to add any!!!)
Word Count: 2,343
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: You get injured during a mission and Natasha worries about you.
You jump over fallen pieces of debris and run, quickly making your way to cover. You drop to the ground and skid across it, as bullets whiz past you. You slam into a flipped car and take cover behind it. Your breaths come heavy and you hold your gun close to your chest. You quickly eject your empty clip and grab a new one from the belt secured around your waist. You shove the new clip into your gun.
“I need backup!” Clint’s voice comes through the comm in your ear.
You peek around the side of the car and see Clint surrounded by Hydra Agents. “If someone can cover me, I can make my way over to Barton.” You pull your head back behind the car just in time as a bullet whizzes right past your face.
“I can cover you,” Natasha says. “On your go!”
You take a deep breath and peek around the car again. “Now!” You jump up and start running. Your feet pound against the pavement as you run as fast as you can. You watch as Hydra Agents fall to the ground around you, thanks to Natasha covering you. You reach Clint and immediately shoot one of the Hydra Agents in the chest. You watch as they fall to the ground.
You end up back-to-back with Clint as Hydra Agents surround and close in on the two of you. You and Clint slowly spin in a circle with your backs still connecting, watching the Hydra Agents around you.
“This was supposed to be an easy recon mission,” Clint complains, drawing an arrow and planting it in his bow.
“Yeah, well, you know how it is,” You say, pointing your gun between a few of the Hydra Agents.
Clint chuckles. “I hope you’re ready to kick some ass.”
“Always.”
You and Clint swiftly pull away from each other and start attacking the Hydra Agents. You shoot at one Hydra Agent and then kick another one in the chest, sending them down onto the ground. Clint shoots an arrow into the chest of the one you sent onto the ground.
Clint quickly turns around and releases an arrow at one of the Hydra Agents behind you. The arrow explodes, starting a fire and sending a few of the Hydra Agents onto the ground. “Oops, wrong arrow!”
You and Clint work together and manage to take out all of the Hydra Agents that were surrounding the two of you.
“Good teamwork,” Clint says, slightly out of breath. He holds his hand up for a high-five.
You high-five the archer. “Thanks. You weren’t so bad yourself.” You reload your gun, connecting the empty clip on your belt.
You hear footsteps behind you and quickly turn around, pointing your gun forward. You pull the trigger when you see a Hydra Agent standing in front of you. You hear two gunshots and watch as the Hydra Agent falls to the ground.
You feel a tight pressure in your chest. Your gun slips out of your hand and clatters to the ground. Both of your hands fly up to where you feel the pressure in your chest and you let out a gasp.
“Y/N?” Clint places a hand on your shoulder. “Are you okay?”
You look down at your chest, seeing your blood-covered hands. You suddenly feel nauseous and dizzy. You fall to your knees and pain immediately shoots through them as they meet the pavement.
“Y/N is down!” Clint says into the comms.
“How bad?” Steve’s voice is muffled through your comm.
Clint gently shoves your shoulder and guides you to lay down on your back. “Gunshot wound to the chest.” Clint shoves your hands off of your chest and out of the way and quickly replaces them with his hands. You groan at the pain that shoots through your chest when he puts pressure on your wound.
You hear Natasha curse in Russian through your comm. Moments later, Natasha kneels down and hovers her face over yours.
“Y/N.” Natasha gently grabs your face. Her touch brings you out of your hazy state.
“Nat,” You gasp out.
“It’s okay, you’re okay,” Natasha says. She rubs her thumbs along your cheeks. “I’m here.”
You watch as a few tears make their way down Natasha’s face. “No, don’t cry. I hate it when you cry.” You move your hands up to Natasha’s face and wipe her tears away. The blood covering your hands wipes off onto Natasha’s cheeks.
“I know,” Natasha says through a sniffle. Natasha smiles down at you. She moves one of her hands from your face to your hair and runs her hand through it.
“Nat,” Clint’s voice grabs Natasha’s attention. “Y/N has lost a lot of blood and is still losing a lot. We need to do something.”
“Steve,” Natasha looks around the area for Steve. “We need your help getting Y/N to the quinjet!”
Steve is at your side in an instant and he attaches his shield to his back. Natasha and Clint stand up and step back, giving Steve space to pick you up. “Okay, Y/N, I’m going to pick you up now,” Steve warns. He hooks one of his arms under your knees and the other under your neck and swiftly picks you up.
Your head feels heavy and you let it fall back, letting it hang over Steve’s. Your vision becomes blurry as you watch Natasha and Clint following closely behind.
You all quickly make it back to the quinjet. Steve places you down across a few of the seats while Clint rushes to the front of the quinjet to get it in the air.
“I think we’re losing her.” Steve presses two fingers to the pulse point on your neck. “Pulse is weak and fading.”
You grunt out in pain when Natasha places her hands on your wound and applies pressure. “Baby, hold on for me,” Natasha begs.
You reach up and place one of your hands on Natasha’s and give it a squeeze. “I…I will.”
Your eyes grow heavy and you fight to keep them open, to keep them open for Natasha. When you can’t fight it anymore, you slowly let your eyes fall closed.
---
Natasha’s leg bounces up and down as she stares down the hallway the doctors took you down thirty minutes ago.
“Nat.” Steve sits down next to Natasha. “You should go get cleaned up.”
Natasha shakes her head, not taking her eyes off of the hallway. “I need to be her when she wakes up.”
“You have some time, doctors say surgery is going to take some time.” Steve places his hand on Natasha’s shoulder. “You’ve got blood on your face and hands, you should get cleaned up and change out of your mission suit.”
Natasha looks down at her hands, looking at your dry blood coating her hands. “No, I’m fine here.” Natasha focuses her eyes back on the hallway.
“Y/N wouldn’t want you to worry,” Steve says. “She’d also want you to get cleaned up.”
Natasha sighs, knowing Steve is right. She can hear you chastising her for sitting her and worrying about you, but she can’t help it, you, the love of her life, are fighting for your life. “Okay,” Natasha says.
“Good,” Steve says with a smile.
Natasha stands from the chair. “Can you stay here?” Natasha asks. “Just in case?”
“Of course.”
Natasha gives Steve a small smile before quickly making her way to her room. When she reaches her room, she moves into the bathroom. She looks at herself in the mirror, looking at your blood that covers her cheeks and her hands. She shakes her head and turns the tap on. She rungs her hands under the hot water, scrubbing intensely at her hands. Once your blood is cleaned off of Natasha’s hands, she grabs a towel and runs it under the water before rubbing it against her cheeks. Leaving her bathroom and entering her bedroom, she’s quick to change out of her mission suit and into sweatpants and one of your hoodies.
Natasha practically runs back to the medical win and lets out a sigh when she sees Steve still sitting there. “Any news?” Natasha asks, sitting down next to Steve.
“Not yet.” Steve places his hand on top of Natasha’s. “Y/N is going to be okay, she’s a fighter.”
“I know,” Natasha says with a nod of her head. “Just what if this time…” Natasha trails off, not wanting to finish her sentence.
“You can’t think like that,” Steve says. “It’s hard not to when she’s in there fighting for her life.”
“I know.” Steve gives Natasha’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Will you be okay here if I go change?”
“I’ll be fine.”
“I’ll be right back,” Steve says, standing up and leaving.
---
“Nat! Stop! Please, Nat!” You squeal through laughter.
“Hmm,” Natasha pauses her hands for a moment as she thinks. “I don’t think I will!” Natasha’s hands return to tickling your sides.
Natasha straddles your stomach, running her hands up and down your sides tickling you. Your laughter fills the air of your bedroom. Your back presses further into your mattress and your hands push at Natasha’s shoulders as you try to escape her hands.
Natasha pauses her hands again, allowing you to catch your breath. “You know, if you just admit I’m right, I’ll stop,” Natasha says, smirking down at you.
“But you aren’t right!” You argue. Natasha’s hands slowly start to move. “Fine! You exclaim, not wanting the tickling to continue.
“Fine, what?” Natasha asks.
“You’re right!”
“Right about what?” Natasha asks, tilting her head to the side. Natasha lets her fingers dance across your sides slowly.
“That you’re stronger than me!”
Natasha pulls her hands from your side and smirks at you in victory. “I know, babe,” Natasha says with a cocky smirk.
You roll your eyes at Natasha but give her a bright smile. Natasha stares down at you, her emerald eyes piercing yours. “Why are you looking at me like that?” You grab Natasha’s hand and start playing with her fingers.
“I love you.” Your eyes widen at Natasha’s words. “I…uhm,” Natasha stammers. “You don’t have to say it back, but I want you to know that I love you.”
You smile up at Natasha. “I love you too, Nat.”
Natasha smiles at you. “Yeah?”
“So fucking much.” You snake your hands around the back of Natasha’s neck and pull her down, stopping right before your lips meet. “I could die and I would never stop loving you,” You say, your lips brushing against Natasha’s.
---
“Miss Romanoff.”
Natasha is pulled out of her thoughts and she looks up, seeing a doctor standing in front of her. Natasha immediately stands from her chair. “Please tell me you have some good news, Doctor.”
“The surgery was a success,” The doctor says. “We unfortunately, did almost lose Y/N twice.” Natasha’s breath hitches. “But we managed to stabalize her.”
“Is Y/N okay now?” Natasha asks.
“Y/N is okay.”
Natasha lets out a sigh of relief. “Can I see her?”
“Y/N is still sleeping, but I’ll take you to her room.”
The doctor leads Natasha to your room. “Here we are,” The doctor says, opening the door to let Natasha in.
“Thank you,” Natasha says.
The doctor nods before leaving and closing the door behind her.
Natasha sits on the chair next to the bed you’re lying in. She gently grabs your hand and holds it in hers, running her thumb over your knuckles. Natasha feels tears welling in here eyes as she looks over your broken state. “No, don’t cry. I hate it when you cry.” Your words from earlier replay in Natasha’s mind and she wipes at her tears.
“I love you, Y/N, Focus on getting better, babe. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
---
Natasha doesn’t know how long it’s been, all she knows is that you still haven’t woken up. A groan pulls Natasha’ls focus from the magazine in her hands. She immediately look at you, watching as you start to stir. Natasha sets the magazine on the chair next to her and stands up. She peeks her head out into the hallway and calls for a doctor before ducking back into the room and rushing to your side.
“Babe?” Natasha asks, grabbing your hand.
“Nat?” You croak. You slowly peel your eyes open.
“Hey, welcome back,” Natasha says, smiling down at you.
A doctor enters the room and starts checking your vitals. You watch as the doctor injects something into your IV. “All of Y/N’s vitals are looking good. I’m giving her some pain meds,” The doctor informs you and Natasha. “Let us know if you need anything,” The doctor says befor exiting the room.
Your head feels hazy as you look around the room. When your eyes land back at Natasha, she’s staring down at you.
“How are you feeling?” Natasha asks.
“I’m okay,” You say honestly. “I feel pressure in my chest, but it doesn’t hurt.”
“You scared me,” Natasha admits.
“I’m sorry,” You say with a frown.
Natasha runs her hand through your hair, closing your eyes and humming at the feeling. “It’s okay,” Natasha says.
“I love you.” You open your eyes and looking up at Natasha. You smile loopily at Natasha.
Natasha chuckles. “Looks like the pain meds have kicked in already, huh?” Natasha kisses you on the forehead. “I love you too.”
You lazily grab Natasha’s free hand, and interlock your fingers. “I’m lucky to have you.”
“I think it’s the other way around, babe,” Natasha says with a smile. “We’re lucky to have each other,” You say tiredly. “Now, come lay down with me,” You say with a pout.
Natasha smiles at you and climbs into the space you made for her. She lays on her side as she looks at you. “Try and get some sleep, okay?”
You nod and place your head in the crook of Natasha’s neck, drifting off to sleep.

You've always been a good girl. Keyword; been.
Don’t blame me, sex with Natasha was fantastic, splendid even. But none of it would reach the part where she could no longer control herself in public. Tonight, I’m on set to let her lose control.
──────⊱⁜⊰──────
You dug around your closet to look for a dress when an idea popped up in your head. You hurriedly got to your best friend's room. “Hey Wands? Can you help me?” you knock in her door. “Hey, what’s up?” Wanda opens the door with her powers and you come in. “Judging by your grin, you are up to no good” Wanda remarks. Your smirk turns into a smile, you’ve been close friends with Wanda for as long as you can remember, she’s basically your sister now. “Well, Tony’s party is tonight and I want to buy a dress that-” you got cut off by Wanda “will make Nat lose control and fuck you hard?” she interrupts with a smirk apparent in her face. You grow red “Wanda! Your words are so lewd-” you cover your face in embarrassment. “Isn’t it true though? That’s what you want right? Come on let’s go” Wanda stands up laughing. “Come on” you jump up happily “Thanks Wanda you’re the best!!”
You both went through thousands of stores until you finally stood in front of the last one. “Y/n this is seriously the last store, we’ll have to go back if you still can’t choose” Wanda whines, she should have known shopping with you would take hours because of your indecisiveness. You step in the store with the sales lady immediately showing a variety of dresses to you. “This one!!” You run to Wanda holding an emerald green satin bodycon dress. “That’s perfect, finally!” You go back to the compound. “Thanks for today Wanda!” You go to your room while hearing Wanda shout “I expect to hear if tonight goes to plan, don’t tell me the details though” you laugh “of course not ew!”
──────⊱⁜⊰──────
You open the bag and marvel at the perfect dress in front of you. “This should do it” you change into the dress and immediately apply your makeup. “Hey y/n are you ready?” Wanda knocks in your room. “Hey yeah i’ll be out in a minute” you finish applying your makeup and immediately go out. “How do I look?” you twirled around which Wanda laughed at. “You look fantastic! Let’s go?” You both go down and you immediately search through the party for Natasha. When you finally found Natasha she was in the bar, in a conversation with Bruce, holding a martini. You go near them, a shot of vodka in your hands. “Hey Nat” you bend over the counter which gives her a pretty view of your cleavage. You loved how she struggled to keep her eyes off your breasts. “Well nothing much, this party hasn’t started that much yet.” she replies, her cheeks reddening with the thought of her getting caught being utterly focused on your chest. You cup her face, leaving your thumb on her lower lip. “Well I’ll go ahead and dance” you leave, hearing her call your name out repeatedly.
You find yourself surrounded by a bunch of shield agents and you decide to dance with them, making sure that Nat could see you dancing. “You know she can see you right?” you feel a pair of hands wrap around your hips. “Maria?” You turn around and you are greeted by your former senior, and bestfriend. Maria Hill. “If I didn’t know better I would say you 're back to being single, mingling around here and all. But you’re trying something else than that aren’t you?” she questions you with an eyebrow raised. You sigh in defeat, you only planned on telling Wanda but she could be another exception. “Well i’m trying to break Nat” you watch as her face falls into pure disarray. “What I mean is, I’m going to make her lose control and i’ll get her to fuck me hard” she laughs ecstatically. “Are you serious?! Damn alright” she laughs even harder. “What do you mean alright?” you ask in confusion. “I mean I'll help you with this, ''she says in pure confidence. You giggle and hug her. “Well shall we get started?” you continue dancing with Maria, laughing every time she cracked a joke. “Is she looking?” You ask Maria. “Well she is, do you want me to do anything?” she tells you. “Put your hands around my hips and your head on my neck” she does as she’s told and you catch a glimpse of Natasha gripping the glass so hard it could possibly break. You grind on Maria, keeping eye contact on Natasha. “Put your lips on my ear that should do it” she places her lips on your ear, mumbling jokes that make you erupt in laughter, to others it could look like your flirting, which is how it definitely looked to your girlfriend. “Ladies, come on here and let’s play a game” Tony announces. You immediately make your way to the table with Maria holding your hand. You could see Nat eyeing you up and down but you continued, pretending to not have noticed.
“I’ve decided we should play truth or dare” Clint reveals. “What? That’s a child’s game” Natasha interrupts. “I think we could give it a try” you disrupt Nat’s little fit. She glares at you but you paid no attention to it. Through the game, both of you and Natasha haven't got your turn yet so you slowly inch your fingers in her thighs. You slowly start to put your hand on your thighs, massaging it slowly. “Y/n, truth or dare?” you avert your attention back to the table, still not stopping your movements on your girlfriend’s thigh. “Dare” you bravely answered Thor. “Grind on any girl in here except Nat” your lips quirked, this was perfect for the last push to your plan. You make your way to Wanda, her being able to read your mind. You immediately start to grind on her as you keep her hands on your thighs, inching dangerously close to your heat. You look at Natasha. Close. You are very close to breaking her. The last push was Wanda grabbing your neck and having you grind harder onto her thighs. “Y/n '' you hear her call you. You snap your neck towards her direction once again. Her eyes, filled with lust and command. “Come here” she stands up and you immediately follow after whispering a small “thank you” to Wanda. You got caught off guard when you felt a pair of hands pin your body to the wall. “You can't tease me like that and expect not to be punished” she growls in your ear. “Your such a slut aren't you? Parading around in that dress that barely covers your ass” a strangled moan makes it past your lips when Nat thrusts in two fingers in your dripping cunt. “So wet aren’t you? Is this what you wanted? For me to fuck you roughly? Well there you go, you have it and you’re gonna wish you never rushed this.”
She proved her point after making you cum five, no six times- to be honest you’ve already lost count. You pant, trying to squirm from her grasp. “S-stop pl-please can’t take no more” she smiles “we aren’t even halfway there sweetheart.” Your eyes widened in bewilderment which quickly turned into slight fear when she grabbed her biggest strap. “Since you’re such a slut, teasing me all night long i’ll have this up your cunt.” She says as she shoves the strap fully in your core. “Fuck” you say with a shaky whisper. You could feel each fake vein in your walls clamping down. “That’s it sweetheart, you’re taking me so well” you we’re about to reply when you felt the strap in you move fast. “N-no please let me recover fuck” you couldn’t control a moan come out from your lips when she rubbed her fingers onto your clit while moving the strap in you at an unforgiving pace. “One more hon, i know you can give me one more” she says as your legs start to shake and you grip the sheets beside you letting out a guttural moan. “F-fuckk” you scream out loud. She continues to thrust in slowly letting you ride your high. “No more- please” you whisper as she slowly takes out the strap. “You did great for me moja lijubov”

"I promise to be by your side forever and ever and ever." she said, it made you feel secured. Natasha never once hurt you, she don't have the guts to do it. Your friends became her friends, yet you haven't met hers, you thought her friends might be too busy for a hangout considering that Nat's work isn't a normal job. That includes hacking onto systems, and bunch of stuffs from her department, it was never a secret to you but you didn't really know what's behind it either. Not until you decided to break your relationship with her.
"N-Nat.. I..uhm.." terrified of what her reaction will be, you can't seem to function very well. You've always been a scaredy cat of her other side, which you might encounter again, you don't want to happen that obviously. Because the last time it happened she's kept her watch on you, it creeps you out. 'this isn't my 'tasha' the least that you've hoped. "What is it? Maimai" Natasha replied, she closed the door behind her, both of you are inside your room. "Maimai, you're shaking, baby. What's wrong?" your lover seemed to be worried, as she sat beside you to caress your face, you flinched.
Confusion took over Nat, she still did wipe out your tears. As you looked up to her, she smiled. "Hurting you is the last thing I'd do, you know that, right?." she cooed, there she was, she knew she can control little you. With her soft voice and being careful around you. It's your unlucky day, for you being little and coming out. A battle between you and yourself was never easy,
"L-Let's b-breakup, N-Nat.." you blurted. "O-Our r-relationship i-is g-getting t-toxic" trembling, both of your hands clasped so the shaking would stop. You almost stopped breathing when you saw her head tilting sideways, but then it followed by a nod. "If that's what my sweetheart wants, then I shall permit you to leave" Nat hugged you tightly but not to the point that you couldn't breathe. It's like everything is done, she agreed and you can now go, however you just can't. Your other thought proved you otherwise, 'I'm the one who's being delusional'
Natasha and Y/N stayed like that for awhile, until she pushed you off softly. She then handed you a glass of milk, "Calm down now darling, rest after you drink your milk.. it'll help" Nat smiled and you chug it down to your throat. And all of a sudden, Nat spoke. "feeling dizzy? well, it's too late to realize. you already ingested what I slipped in your drink." smirking, she was able to make you fall asleep. While you are resting peacefully, she just stared at you and ran her fingers through your hair. "you look beautiful when you sleep... i'd know- i watched you, after all"
After 30 minutes and so, you finally woke up. Your vision is still blurry, much to your surprise your hands aren't cuffed as you expected them to be. The door's closed, and you are scanning the room. If it weren't for your stupidity to drink the water you could've tackled Nat off the ground and escaped. That was the only plan you could ever think, in equalities of having the dumb idea of getting out of the room. You try to get up from your bed, Nat' changed Y/N's clothes, 'fuck that must've been embarrassing' you cringed but do you really feel that way? Although you've had a complete bed rest, you still feel exhausted, and it's even worse as a result of taking the sedatives or whatever pill you've taken.
Unexpectedly, the door to your room isn't locked, looking to your right there was the mirror. Seeing yourself with a braided hair, a cute band aid on your cheek and with your set pj's. You wanted to cry, you swallowed the lump in your throat, you just needed to ran away from Nat for now. You've successfully got out from your room, chills ran down your spine, 'maybe it's just the wind, coming from open window' with a positive thought, you looked to your right. It was also a room, but you remembered your girlfriend saying,
"Y/N, love. Don't go in that room. Ever." it sounded too strange for you, even so, you just brushed it off and focused with what you were doing that time. On to your right, it was the storage room, given that you and Nat shared a room and don't want to sleep without you on her side. Not giving each other's individual peace.
Hesitant, you still went for it, fighting the anxiousness that you were feeling, you are being careful that you might slip and Nat will ruin the possibility of your escape. You are now in front of the door, heart is beating loud. Placing your hand on the doorknob, the atmosphere then felt heavy, thinking that she's on the other side and it'll be game over. "just let me get the fuck outta here" whispering to yourself, and you've opened the room.
It was dark, so your left hand searched for a switch nearby, only result to figuring there were no light switch. An idea came up, so you opened your room and turned on the lights. It worked but only a faint light was able to capture the room's image.
Walking in the middle of the restricted room, you felt a string, so you pulled it down. Revealing you. There were tons of newspaper about a 'missing teen' you wanted to hug someone, you wanted to cry, you felt helpless at this point. It was you on the headline, it was your name. "Y/N, Y/L/N. MISSING. LAST SEEN AUGUST 22, 2012. IF FOUND PLEASE CONTACT—" you weren't able to finish all of it, gathering the courage, you pulled yourself.
"Entertaining. Lovely. Brilliant. Ah, my Y/N. there you are. Are you done trespassing?" Natasha exclaimed, you stepped back slowly. 'shit, she closed every damn opportunity I have to escape' panicking, "No! Don't come any closer, Nat. You monster!" you shouted angrily. Her arms are crossed across her chest, smirking. "Darling. Come here, I told you didn't I? I would never hurt you, I love you so much" she walked towards you "It isn't you Y/N, the newspaper you just read, it was my job to look for your impostor. And here you are calling me a monster, you completely misjudged me. Y/N." she's now at your level, you are now having second thoughts. Trapping you in between her and the walls, Natasha leaned.  Initiating a kiss, automatically closing your eyes, and giving in not wanting to disappoint her even more.
With tears falling down your face, she bit your lip making you grip your hand on to the hem of her shirt. She grinned, pulling you. "I promise you, just trust me.." comforting you with an embrace, it made you relaxed and eventually fell in to your dreamland once again, "the outside is so dangerous, don't you see? if I wasn't here to protect you, who knows what could've happen to you..." Nat silently muttered.

Tony’s Intern
A/N: Here’s the fic for day two of my 500 follower celebration! Sorry its out late, I’ve been super busy today! This will have a part 2! THIS WASN’T EDITED/LOOKED OVER SO I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR ANY MISTAKES!!!
Here’s a link to my Masterlist!
Warnings: Cursing, violence (Let me know if I need to add any!!!)
Word Count: 5,419
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: You’ve been Tony’s intern for a while. He finally decides its time for you to start working at the Avengers Tower. On your first day at the Avengers Tower, an interesting red head points her gun at you
Part Two
Being Tony Stark’s intern is interesting to say the least. You didn’t do too much - your job was relatively easy. You fill out paperwork, file said paperwork, and listen as Tony explains and shows you some of his new ideas. There would be times that Tony would actually ask you for feedback. But other than that, there wasn’t much that Tony actually made you do.
That being said, you love being Tony’s intern. You get to dip your toes into the kind of work you want to do - technical engineering. You’ve always loved building and creating things and your love for it only grew as you got older.
For the past six months you’ve been Tony’s intern. You’ve always worked in his home office. His office was relatively close to your college campus and you would always walk from campus to Tony’s office.
“Y/N,” Tony says, setting your recently finished paperwork on his desk.
“Yes, Mr. Stark?” You ask, slinging your backpack over your shoulders.
“Starting tomorrow, you’ll be working with me over at the Avengers Tower,” Tony says, sliding the paperwork into a folder.
“The… The Avengers Tower?” You ask, fiddling with your fingers. “That’s where the Avengers uhm live, and train,” You state dumbly.
Tony looks up from his desk and looks at you. He sees your nervous state and gently laughs. “No need to worry, Y/N,” Tony says, standing from his desk chair. “We’ll be down in my lab and none of the others will come down there.” Tony sits on the edge of his desk. “I’ll have Happy Hogan pick you up from your apartment.”
“Actually, I come right here after class,” You inform the billionaire. “I can just walk to the Avengers Tower.”
“Nonsense,” Tony says with a dismissive wave of his hand. “Happy will pick you up at your college campus!”
“Okay,” You say with a small smile. “Thank you, Mr. Stark.”
“Anything for my favorite intern,” Tony says, with a small laugh.
“I’m your only intern,” You say with a roll of your eyes.
“Exactly,” Tony says with a smile. “Now, you get out of here and get home. I’ll see you tomorrow!”
“See you tomorrow!” You say, waving goodbye to Tony as you exit his office.
---
You’re standing in front of your campus’s main building, waiting for Happy Hogan to pick you up. Your eyes watch every car that drives past you, not sure what kind of car he’s going to pick you up in.
You pull your winter coat tighter around your body as you feel the cold winter air send chills through your body. You bring your hands to your mouth and cup them. You blow into your hands, trying to warm them up. You left your gloves at your apartment and it’s moments like these that you wish you had an extra pair that you kept in your backpack. You pull your hands from your face and stuff them into your coat pockets. You bounce on your feet a little bit, desperate to keep yourself warm in the cold New York weather.
A sleek, black car with tinted windows screeches to a stop in front of you. The drivers’ door is swung open and a man stands up, looking across the top of the car and over at you. “Y/N Y/L/N, right?” The man asks.
“Yes, sir,” You say with a nod.
“I’m Happy Hogan, Tony sent me to pick you up,” The man informs.
He walks around to the other side of the car and opens the backseat door for you. “Oh, thank you,” You say, swinging your backpack off of your shoulders. You duck down and enter the car, setting your backpack on the empty seat next to you.
Happy closes the door, before making his way back to the driver’s side. He gets in and quickly takes off.
You look out of the window, watching as snow begins to fall from the sky. You feel the heat blasting throughout the car and you’re thankful you aren’t standing outside in the cold anymore.
The drive to the Avengers Tower is silent and very awkward. Happy doesn’t say anything to you, and you certainly don’t say anything to him as your nerves are already getting the better of you. Happy doesn’t even turn the radio on and that baffles you because who doesn’t listen to the radio when they drive?!
Happy pulls into the Avengers Tower parking lot, stopping to flash his badge to the guard at the gate. You look out of the window and stare at the tower in awe. You’ve seen plenty of pictures of the tower on the internet, and you’ve seen it a few times from far away, but you’ve never seen it this close in person.
Happy pulls up to the front of the tower. He puts the car in park before opening his door and stepping out of the car, leaving the car running. He walks to your side of the car and opens the door for you.
You grab your backpack from the seat next to you and slide out of the car. You pull your backpack onto your shoulders and Happy closes the door after you’ve stepped out of the car.
“Here, you’re going to need this,” Happy holds his hand out.
You look at the badge connected to a lanyard that’s dangling from his hand. You reach forward and grab the lanyard. You look down at the badge. It has a photo of you in the middle - a very geek looking photo of you from your first time working as Tony’s intern. Tony made you take a picture with him to celebrate the new experience. It seems like he cropped himself out of the picture so he could use it as your badge photo. The badge also contains your name across the bottom and directly under your name, it says: ‘Tony’s Favorite Intern’.
“You’ll need that to get into the building,” Happy informs you. “Make sure to take good care of it, because I am not getting you a replacement.”
“Yes, sir,” You say with a small nod. “Thanks for the ride,” You say, pulling the lanyard over your head and letting the badge dangle from your neck.
“It’s not like I had a choice,” Happy grumbles out.
You open your mouth to say something, but you weren’t expecting his honest reply. You shut your mouth and smile one last time before walking to the entrance of the Avengers Tower.
You walk up to the door and notice the keycard scanner next to the door. You lean forward and hold your badge to the scanner. It quietly beeps as the door unlocks. You pull the door open and step into the tower, the door closing behind you.
You look around the interior in awe and you feel your nerves starting to set in. You tug on the strap of your backpack, slowly walking a little further into the tower.
“Y/N Y/L/N we’ve been expecting you.”
You jump at the sudden voice. Your eyes scan the surrounding area, but you don’t see anyone. “Hello?” You ask, keeping your voice quiet.
“Mr. Stark is waiting for you in his lab.”
You let your eyes scan the surrounding area again, making sure you didn’t miss someone.
“Who… Who’s talking to me?” You ask, tugging at the straps of your backpack.
“I’m JARVIS. I’m an AI that Tony created. If you step into the elevator on your left, I’ll send you to Tony’s lab.”
You hear a ding and look to your left. You watch as elevator doors slide open. “Okay,” You say. You walk over to the elevator and step inside. The doors immediately close behind you and you spin around. The elevator starts to move and you tap your foot nervously against the tiled floor.
The elevator slowly comes to a stop and the doors slide open. You slowly step out of the elevator and find yourself in Tony’s lab. Your eyes immediately go to the wall of IronMan suits he has along the back of the lab.
“Tony?” You call out for your boss, slowly moving further into the lab.
You hear a loud crash come from the back of Tony’s lab. “Tony?” You call out again, moving towards the back of the lab.
“Who are you?”
You scream at the voice and whip around. Your eyes widen when you find yourself looking down the barrel of a gun. You scream again and immediately raise your hands into the air in surrender.
The woman on the other end of the gun stares at you, looking down the top of her gun. Her eyes glance down at your badge dangling from the lanyard around your neck. She lowers her gun and places it into the holster on her leg.
You recognize the woman as Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff. You’ve admired the redheaded Avenger since one of your friends showed you a video of her fighting in the streets of New York City a few years ago.
“Who died?” Tony shouts, running into the lab.
“No one. But your intern almost did,” Natasha says, nodding her head in your direction.
Tony looks at Natasha and then over at you. You notice that he’s holding two cups of coffee - one in each hand. He hands one over to you.
You reach forward with a shaky hand, still unsure as to why a fucking gun was pointed at you, and grab the cup. You give Tony an appreciative nod, not sure if you trust your voice yet.
Tony watches as the coffee cup shakes in your hand and he looks back up at Natasha. “What the hell did you do to my intern?”
“I pointed my gun at her,” Natasha says casually with a shrug of her shoulders.
“YOU POINTED A GUN AT HER?” Tony shouts.
Natasha snatches the coffee cup from Tony’s hand. “Yeah, I thought she was an intruder - you know how your security system acts up sometimes. But then I saw her badge.” Natasha takes a swig of Tony’s coffee. “Yuck! Is there any coffee in here or is it all creamer?” Natasha shoves the coffee cup back into Tony’s hand.
“There is coffee in here!” Tony defends his coffee. He sighs and turns to you. “Are you okay, Y/N?”
“Yup!” Your voice cracks.
“Sure seems like it,” Natasha smirks and a chuckle escapes her lips.
You look down at your feet, feeling your cheeks turn red in embarrassment.
“Don't make fun of my intern!” Tony scolds Natasha.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Natasha brushes Tony off.
Tony sighs. “Anyway, I do think it’s time for you to leave my lab. Y/N and I have a ton of work to get done!”
“Right,” Natasha says. “I’ll leave you two nerds to it then.” Natasha looks at you. “I’ll see you around, Y/N.” Natasha turns and leaves, stepping into the elevator.
Her emerald eyes meet your E/C eyes before the elevator doors slide shut.
“Sorry about her,” Tony apologizes, turning to you. “Let’s get to work, shall we?”
Tony starts making his way to a different part of his lab and you follow him. He sets his coffee down on a nearby table, you do the same, making sure to put your cup more to the side so you can keep track of whose is whose.
“So, I’m working on this new suit,” Tony points to the multiple suit parts that are scattered around the nearby tables. “I’m going to let you finish the arm?”
“What? For real?” You ask, your eyes widening.
“Yeah, I don’t see why not,” Tony smiles at your excitement. He picks the multiple arm parts up and sets them on the table in front of you. “The wiring needs to be connected and then you need to connect the shell of the arm. Then last but not least, solder the armour over top. You think you can handle this while I work on the chestpiece?”
You nod. “I think so, yeah.”
“Good, I’ll be right next to you if you have any questions,” Tony says. “Let’s get to work!”
---
“I’m impressed!” Tony says, looking over the arm you put together. “This is perfect!” Tony hands the arm back to you. “Would you like to do the honor of attaching it to the suit?”
“Yes! I would love to!” You accept the arm. You walk to the almost complete Ironman suit. You attach the arm, snapping it into place and officially completing the suit.
“The last thing we need to do is program JARVIS into the suit,” Tony says, connecting one side of a wire to his computer and the other side into his new suit.
Tony steps in front of his computer and motions for you to join him. You step over and watch as Tony clicks and types away at his computer.
“Okay, so if you just…” Tony trailers off, showing you the programming. “Here, why don’t you try?” Tony suggests, stepping aside.
You step in front of the computer and start typing some of the code. There are a few times when Tony has to correct the code that you type out. You apologize for him having to correct you, but he just brushes your mistakes off, reminding you that this is a learning experience.
You spend the rest of the work day watching Tony test out his new Ironman suit. The end of the day comes quickly and you’re actually sad that your work day has come to an end.
“Alright, Y/N,” Tony says, stepping out of his suit. “Thank you for today! Maybe one of these days I’ll let you try on one of my suits!”
“That would be awesome!” You exclaim, pulling your backpack onto your shoulders.
“How did you like the change of scene?” Tony asks, leading you to the elevator.
“It was good! It’s so cool here!” You say, stepping into the elevator after Tony. “As long as I don’t get any more guns pointed at me, I think I'll be fine!” You say with a laugh.
“I can’t promise that won’t happen again,” Tony says, laughing along with you. “But I can make sure Natasha doesn’t do it again.”
“That’s good to keep in mind,” You say.
When you and Tony step out of the elevator, he leads you to the front of the Avengers Tower - the same place Happy dropped you off. Tony waits with you as Happy goes to pull the car around.
“So, what if we ran the power of the suit through here instead,” You suggest, pointing to your drawing of an Ironman suit in your notebook.
“That’s a good idea,” Tony says, scratching his beard as he looks at your drawing.
“Hypothetically, it should allow you to push more energy out of the suit with your beams,” You say. “This is just an idea, but I could work.”
“We’ll have to work on that,” Tony says. “Good job, kid,” Tony says, patting you on the back.
“I’m not interrupting geek talk, am I?”
You and Tony turn around.
“Actually, Natasha, you ar-”
“I just wanted to apologize for pointing my gun at you,” Natasha says, cutting Tony off.
“Ah, it's not a big deal,” You brush off with a dismissive wave of your hand.
“You reacted way differently earlier,” Natasha says with a smirk.
A car screeches to a stop next to you, pulling your attention away from the redhead.
“Happy, what did I tell you about stopping the car like that?” Tony asks.
“Sorry, Tony,” Happy says. “It won’t happen again.”
“Get Y/N home safe,” Tony says. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” Tony says before turning and walking back into the tower.
“Come on, kid,” Happy says, opening the car door for you.
You glance at Natasha, who’s still smirking at you.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, geek,” Natasha says.
“See you tomorrow,” You say, giving the redhead a small smile.
“Kid, let’s go,” Happy says, annoyance lacing his voice.
“Sorry,” You apologize, sliding your backpack off of your shoulders and getting into the car.
Happy gets back into the car. You watch Natasha through the car window as Happy speeds off.
---
It’s been a week since you’ve been working at the Avengers Tower. Your days were the same - go to school, wait outside your campus for Happy, and work with Tony at the tower.
Today already seemed different. You’ve been waiting thirty minutes for Happy to come pick you up. You pull your coat tighter against your body. You pull your phone out of your pocket and check the time.
“Shit,” You curse. “Come on, Happy, where are you? I’m going to be late!”
You look around, not seeing Happy’s car anywhere in sight.
“Fuck it,” You curse, shoving your phone back into your pocket.
You start heading in the direction of the Avengers Tower, wanting to make it to work in time.
You walk fast, gripping the straps of your backpack. You thank yourself for remembering to bring your gloves today. You watch as snowflakes start to fall around you. You pick your pace up a little, not wanting to get stuck in the snow.
“Leave me alone!” You hear the shout from nearby.
You peek your head around the corner of an alleyway. You see two men cornering a girl.
“Just give us your shit and we’ll leave you alone,” One of the men says.
“Please, I don’t have anything!”
“Hey!” You shout, rounding the corner of the alley and stepping into it.
The two men whip around and look at you.
“Who the hell are you?” One of the men asks.
The girl from behind them runs past them and runs past you, leaving the alleyway.
“Shit! You let her get away!” One man says to the other.
“Well, we’ve got a replacement,” The other man says, pointing to you.
“Give us your backpack,” One of them demands.
“What? No!” You say.
The men walk closer to you.
“What’s in there?”
“None of your business!” You say.
“Grab her!”
Both of the men continue to walk closer to you. One of them reaches for you. “Leave me alone!” You say, throwing a punch at the man reaching for you.
Your first connects with the side of his face, but it doesn’t seem to affect him that much.
“Awe princess, that was a weak punch!”
The man punches you back. His fist connects with your nose and it knocks you to the ground. You land on your hands and knees. You gasp when you hear the crack of your nose. “Fuck,” You mutter, watching as your blood spills from your nose and seeps into the white snow below you.
You feel a tug at your backpack. You quickly roll onto your back and kick up at the man trying to grab your backpack. He stumbles back and you quickly stand up.
“You want round two, princess?” The man asks.
“We can take you easily,” The other man says.
You throw a punch at one of the men. He catches your fist and smiles at you. He punches you with his free hand. The men take turns punching you.
Punch. Punch. Punch. Punch. Punch. Punch.
You can’t even find time to catch your breath between their punches.
One final punch to the side of your face knocks you onto the ground. You lay in the snow, looking up at the sky.
The men stand above you and smirk down at you. “Flip her over so I can grab her backpack.”
The man flips you onto your stomach, and peels your backpack from your shoulders.
“No,” You say weakly.
You hear the zipper of your backpack.
“It's just a ton of junk!” One of the men says.
You hear the rustling of all your notebooks and papers.
“I’m dumping this useless shit!”
You watch as your notebooks and papers land right next to your face. Your backpack lands on top of them.
“What a waste!”
You watch as the men leave the alleyway, leaving you by yourself.
You roll over onto your back, wincing at the pain. You look up, watching the snow fall from the sky. You gasp, trying your best to catch your breath from the punches.
“F..Fuck,” You stutter out, the coldness of the snow your laying in taking a toll on you.
You push yourself into a sitting position. You reach over and grab your backpack. You grab the pile of notebooks and papers and shove them into the backpack.
You stand up and pull your backpack onto your shoulders. You shiver as the wind blows and hits your wet clothes. You pull your arms against your body, hugging yourself for warmth.
“Not too much further,” You say, stepping out of the alleyway and seeing the Avengers Tower in the distance.
---
You stumble into the Avengers Tower.
“Mr. Stark, Y/N has arrived,” JARVIS announces.
Within seconds, Tony is running into the room. “Y/N! You could’ve at least called to say you were going to be la-” Tony pauses when he sees your face. “What the hell happened to you?”
“I… I,” You stutter, shivering.
“Hey, geek,” Natasha walks into the room. “What the fuck?”
“He...hey,” You reply, wrapping your arms around yourself to try and get warm.
Natasha immediately moves to you. She places the back of her hand to your forehead. “You’re freezing cold. Come on, let’s get you cleaned up and into a warm shower.”
Natasha gently grabs you by your shoulder and starts leading you through the Avengers Tower. After a few minutes of walking through the tower, Natasha leads you into a bedroom. She leads you through the room and into a connecting bathroom.
You stand in the middle of the bathroom, staring at yourself in the mirror. You look rough.
Natasha moves to stand in front of you, blocking your view of yourself. She sets some clothes on the counter. “Let’s take your backpack off,” Natasha says softly, gently moving her hands to the straps of your backpack. She slides the bag off of your shoulders and sets it on the bathroom counter.
“My stuff,” You point to your bag. “It’s all wet.”
Natasha looks at your backpack and then back at you. “So, are you, we need to warm you up, and then we can worry about that, okay?” You glance at your backpack and then back at Natasha. “Okay,” You whisper.
“Go ahead and take your coat off,” Natasha instructs softly.
You shrug your coat off, the wetness of the coat making it heavy. Natasha grabs the coat from you and sets it on the counter.
“Why don’t you hop in the shower and get warmed up,” Natasha says. “I’ll be right out here if you need anything,” Natasha points to the connecting bedroom. “I brought you some clothes and a towel. And when you’re done, I’ll clean you up, okay?”
You nod, “Yeah.”
Natasha exits the bathroom, closing the door behind her. You move to the shower, and turn the handle to the hot side.
You move your hands to the bottom of your hoodie and you pull it over your head. You drop the hoodie to the floor. You move your hands to the bottom of your tshirt and pull it over your head - damn the New York weather really called for layers and right now, you’re really hating it, you just want to take a warm shower. You drop your shirt to the floor. You slip out of your vans and kick your jeans off. You strip off your underwear and your bra, adding them both to the pile of clothes beneath you.
You move to the shower, where there is now steam emitting from the water. You step into the shower and you feel your muscles immediately relax. You watch as your blood runs down the drain below you. You stand under the water, letting it run down your body and warm you up. After a few minutes, you finally feel warm. You shut the shower off and step out. You grab the towel and wrap in around yourself.
You quickly dry yourself off with the towel before pulling on the clothes that Natasha left for you. You’re in a pair of black sweatpants and a navy blue hoodie.
You open the door and poke your head into the bedroom. Natasha is sitting on the edge of her bed. She looks up when you open the door.
“Ready for me to clean your cuts?” Natasha asks, standing up.
“Yeah,” You say with a nod.
“Come sit,” Natasha points at her bed.
You move into the bedroom and sit down on the bed.
Natasha moves to the bathroom. She returns to the bedroom with a first aid kit. She sits next to you, facing you. You move to copy her position so she has better access to your face.
Now that your adrenaline has faded, you’re definitely starting to feel the pain of all the cuts, bruises and your broken nose.
Natasha is quick to clean your cuts up, wiping them with an alcohol wipe and cleaning up any remaining blood that didn’t come off in the shower.
“Why don’t you rest,” Natasha says, standing from the bed.
“I.. I have to work,” You say, “That’s why I’m here in the first place.”
“I don’t think Tony will mind,” Natasha informs.
“Okay,” You nod.
Natasha pulls the covers back and you slide underneath them. Natasha pulls the covers back up to cover you.
“Get some sleep,” Natasha says. “I’ll be here when you wake up, geek.”
You smile at the use of your nickname. You suddenly feel the exhaustion from your events of the day. Your eyes feel heavy and you give in, closing them. You’re asleep within seconds.
---
Your eyes flutter open. You look around and quickly sit up. This isn’t your room. This is quite the opposite of your room. While your room has cork boards full of papers with ideas, and sticky notes hung all around your room and is overall just a mess of papers, this one is nice and tidy.
You pull the covers off of you and move to sit on the edge of the bed. You stand up and move to the bathroom. You peek in, looking for your backpack and your clothes. But they aren’t where you left them.
You turn around and step back into the bedroom. You notice your phone on the bedside table. You pick it up and shove it into your pocket. You walk to the door and open it. You step out into the hallway carefully. You look to the left and then to the right, not sure where to go.
You stuff your hands into the pockets of the sweatpants and decide to walk to the left.
“Y/N! Hey!”
You turn around, seeing Natasha running towards you.
“Hey, sorry,” You say. “I was trying to find you.”
“Oh, no big deal,” Natasha says. “JARVIS notified me that you left my room, so I ran down here.” Natasha smiles at you. “Come on, this way,” Natasha says, turning around.
You turn around and you and Natasha fall into step.
“Tony is impressed with your work,” Natasha says, as the two of you step into the elevator.
“What work?” You ask.
“You mentioned the stuff in your backpack got wet,” Natasha says. “So, we took it out to try and get it to dry. Tony took a look at some of your ideas and creation ideas.”
“Oh,” You look down at your feet embarrassed. Your creation ideas were definitely things that would be hard or nearly impossible to do, especially with the equipment you have access to.
“I think he might ask to work on some of those with you,” Natasha says. “The two of you are geeks,” Natasha says, gently bumping her shoulder with yours.
You smile at Natasha. “Yeah, I think you’ve mentioned that once or twice.”
The elevator doors open and you and Natasha step into Tony’s lab. Natasha sits at one of the tables and you sit down next to her.
“I’m glad to see you’re okay,” Tony says, stepping into view.
“Thanks,” You say.
“So, what happened?” Tony asks, setting down his wrench on the table and sitting across from you.
“I was waiting for Happy to pick me up,” You say. “And he never showed, so I-”
“Wait,” Tony interrupts. “Happy never showed?”
“No,” You say, shaking your head. “So, I started walking, and there were these guys harassing a girl in an alleyway,” You tap your fingers on your thighs. “I stepped in to help and, well, this happened,” You point at your face.
“I had an idea,” Natasha says.
“What’s that?” You ask.
Tony looks at Natasha, also curious about Natasha’s idea.
“If you’re up for it, I could teach you some fighting techniques. That way, you never end up in a situation like today.”
“That would be helpful,” You say. “I’ve never really fought before,” You admit.
“I think that’s a brilliant idea!” Tony says.
“It’s settled then,” Natasha says, smiling at you.
“We can split your time here,” Tony suggests. “You can help me down here for half of your work day and spend the other half with Natasha.”
“That sounds like a good plan,” You say with a smile.
“Now, I’ll call Happy to come pick you up and take you home. You’ve had a rough day,” Tony says. “We’ll pick up tomorrow. I have a lot to talk to you about.”
“Don’t worry about calling Happy,” Natasha says. “I’ll take Y/N home.”
“I can just walk home,” You say.
“No!” Natasha and Tony say at the same time.
“Are you sure, Natasha?” Tony asks.
“Yeah, it’s not a problem,” Natasha says.”Plus, it seems like Happy isn’t reliable anymore.”
“Yeah, I’ll have to call him and see what happened,” Tony says.
“Come on, let’s get you home,” Natasha says.
“Don’t forget this,” Tony says, tossing you your backpack.
You catch the bag. “Thanks.” You pull your backpack onto your shoulders.
You and Natasha step into the elevator. “I have your clothes in the dryer, but you can just grab them tomorrow when you come over,” Natasha says. “If that’s okay, anyway?”
“That’s fine,” You say with a nod. “Thank you.”
Natasha steps out of the elevator and you follow her. She leads you to a garage.
“So, which car is yours?” You ask, looking at all of the sports cars.
“These are all Tony’s,” Natasha says, pointing at all the sports cars. “This right there, this is mine,” Natasha says, placing her hand on the motorcycle.
“Oh, no, definitely not,” You say, taking a step back from the vehicle.
“Oh come on, geek!” Natasha says, taking the helmet off of the seat.
“I am not getting on that!” You say.
“I’ll drive safe, I promise,” Natasha says.
You sigh. “Fine,” You say.
“Here, this is to protect that pretty face of yours,” Natasha says, holding the helmet out for you.
You take the helmet. “What about you?” You ask, not seeing another helmet.
“I’ll be fine,” Natasha says, getting onto the motorcycle.
You pull the helmet over your head.
“You somehow look geekier than normal,” Natasha says, looking at you.
You chuckle. “I’m taking that as a compliment. “You should,” Natasha says with a chuckle. “Now get on!”
You get on the motorcycle and wrap your arms around Natasha’s waist.
“Ready?” Natasha asks.
“No,” You say. “But I don’t really have a choice.”
“You’re right, you don’t,” Natasha says, revving the engine.
Natasha takes off.
---
After about fifteen minutes of you shouting the directions to your apartment at Natasha, you arrive. She pulls in front of the building.
You get off of the motorcycle and pull the helmet off. “Thanks for the ride,” You say with a smile.
“Anytime,” Natasha says. “And I mean it. If you need a ride, call me,” Natasha says. “Give me your phone.”
You pull your phone out of your pocket and hand it to Natasha. She quickly types her number in.
“Let me know if you need a ride, okay?”
“I will,” You say. “Now, you need this to protect your pretty face,” You say, reaching forward and sliding the helmet onto Natasha’s head.
“Thanks, geek,” Natasha says. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
“Bye, Nat,” You say.
Natasha speeds off.

Here’s a link to my Taglist! I’ve made a new taglist because I haven’t been keeping up with my other one! So, even if you filled out the other taglist form, if you want to be tagged, please fill out the new one!
Warnings: Violence, mentions of cheating, violence (Let me know if I need to add any!!!)
Word Count: 7,850
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader to Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Summary:  After a mission, you find your girlfriend being distant and different than before. Natasha ends up breaking up with you, now having feelings for your coworker, Bruce Banner. You find yourself being comforted by fellow Avenger, Wanda Maximoff.
“On your left!” Steve shouts, tossing his shield.
You look to your left, watching as Steve’s shield collides with a Hydra Agent. “Thanks,” You pant out.
Steve nods at you before running off into the sea of Hydra Agents.
“Is this a code green?” Bruce asks, his voice coming through the comms.
“Yes! This is a code green!” Tony replies. “It’s a never ending wave of Hydra Agents!”
“It’s reminding me of New York,” Clint says, shooting an explosive arrow. Your eyes follow the arrow, watching as it lands next to a small group of Hydra Agents before exploding.
You quickly duck down behind a turned over truck. You hold your gun tight to your chest and close your eyes. You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down. It was so sudden. You were all walking towards the Hydra base and all of a sudden you were all ambushed.
“Hey, are you okay?”
You open your eyes. Natasha is kneeling down in front of you, her green eyes locked on you worriedly. “Yeah, I’m fine,” You say with a nod of your head.
“Are you sure?” Natasha asks.
“I’m fine, babe,” You say. You reach forward and place your free hand on her bicep. You give her bicep a reassuring squeeze. “I promise.”
“Good,” Natasha says with a smile. “I was worried when I saw you duck back here.” A loud yell erupts in the air. You and Natasha turn your heads in the direction the yell came from. You watch as Hulk smashes into the battlefield. “I guess we should probably get back to work,” Natasha says, nodding her head towards the fight.
“Yeah, we should,,” You say, watching Natasha stand up. Natasha holds her hands out for you. You place your hand in hers and she pulls you to your feet. You and Natasha run in opposite directions, Natasha going to the left and you going to the right.
You fire your gun at every Hydra Agent you see, not even hesitating. You watch as two Hydra Agents sneak up on Wanda as she’s preoccupied with three others. You run towards Wanda, pointing your gun at one of the two Hydra Agents. You pull the trigger of your gun and moments later, the Hydra Agent falls to the ground. You reach Wanda’s position and when you point your gun at the other Hydra Agent, he slaps it out of your hands. You watch as it clatters against the dirt path. You quickly reach into your boot and pull your knife out. “They say never bring a knife to a gunfight, but I’m pretty skilled with a knife,” You say with a smirk.
You swipe forward with your knife, missing the Hydra Agent as they take a step back. You drop to one of your knees and spin, kicking your other leg out. Your leg slams against the Hydra Agents legs and they tumble backwards, falling to the ground. You quickly stand back up and throw your knife down at the Hydra Agent. Your knife lodges into the Hydra Agent’s throat.
You turn around, coming face-to-face with Wanda, who has her hands pointed at you, her red magic swirling around her hands. She relaxes and drops her hands when she notices it’s just you - a teammate. Wanda eyes you work. She looks back at you with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. “You’re so extra,” Wanda says with a roll of her eyes. “Can’t you just kill them normally?”
“What’s the fun in that?” You ask. You reach down and pick your gun up from the dirt path. “Plus, I have to impress the ladies somehow,” You say with a shrug.
Wanda rolls her eyes at you again. “Well, it isn’t impressive, it’s sloppy,” Wanda says teasingly.
“You can’t tell me you aren’t impressed!” You exclaim. You point your gun to the side and shoot a Hydra Agent without looking, sending them to the ground. “I’m very skilled.”
“I literally just told you I’m not impressed!” Wanda says. She uses her powers to slam a Hydra Agent into the wall of the nearby Hydra building. “I will admit that you are very skilled though.”
You smirk at your best friend. “Oh, I know I am!”
“Don’t get cocky now,” Wanda says with a smirk.
“Y/L/N! Pay attention!” Natasha says into the comms. “There’s an opening for you to get inside and get the intel!”
“Ooooh! You’re in trouble!” Wanda says through laughter.
It’s your turn to roll your eyes at Wanda. “Shut up!”
Wanda smiles at you. “Make me,” She teases.
You scoff at Wanda’s friendly flirting. “You wish I would.”
“I think you wish you could,” Wanda teases.
“Sure, Wands,” You reply with a nudge to her shoulder. “I’ll catch you after I get the intel,” You say, backing away from Wanda. As you pass the Hydra Agent you killed with your knife, you pull the knife out of their throat. You wipe the blood onto your pants before shoving the knife back into your boot.
“Be careful!” Wanda shouts.
“You know me! I will be!” You shout back. You smile at Wanda before turning and running to the entrance of the Hydra building.
You ready your gun and enter the building. You slide against the wall and peek your head around the corner, looking for any Hydra Agents. Seeing that the way is clear, you pull yourself from the wall and turn the corner. You walk through the halls of the Hydra building, peeking around every corner before you continue to move. You move to the stairwell and climb the stairs two at a time. You reach the third floor and exit the stairwell. You walk swiftly to the end of the hallway. Once you reach the end of the hallway, you enter the room on the left, closing the door behind you.
Your eyes scan the room, spotting the computer in the back corner of the room. You walk over to the computer and pull the flash drive from your pocket. You shove it into the computer and start typing. You watch as the downloading bar appears on the computer screen. Almost immediately, a red light starts flashing and an alarm starts blaring throughout the building. “Not good,” You mutter to yourself.
“Y/L/N, what’s going on?” Tony’s voice comes through your comms.
You watch as the downloading bar fills slowly, moving pixel by pixel. “As soon as the downloading started, the alarms went off. They must have some sort of security system so they’re notified.” You curse at yourself mentally for not checking before you started the download.
“How much longer on the download?” Steve asks.
Your eyes move back to the download bar, it’s not even halfway. “It’s gonna be a few moments.” You look up towards the door as you hear running footsteps approach. “Go wait in the quinjet. I’ll be making a hasty exit and we should be ready to leave.”
“Copy that,” Clint says. “You heard Y/L/N, everyone to the quinjet!”
The door bursts open and you immediately aim your gun. You shoot at the Hydra Agents as they pour into the room. You reach down to your belt for another ammo clip, only to find you don’t have another. “Fuck!” You duck down behind the desk. Bullets lodge into the desk as the Hydra Agents continue to spray their bullets in your direction. You don’t see another exit, the way you came is the only one. You look down at your belt, looking at the grenades strapped to it. “Guess that’ll do,” You whisper.
You look up and eye the download bar. “Come on, almost there,” You mutter to yourself, watching as the download bar is almost full. As soon as the download bar completes, you reach up and grab the flash drive and shove it into your pocket. You grab a grenade from your belt and pull the pin. You stand up and throw the grenade through the doorway before quickly ducking back down behind the desk.
“Grenade!” One of the Hydra Agents shouts. You hear the scramble of all of the Hydra Agents’ boots. Unfortunately for them, the grenade goes off before they get the chance to evacuate.
You glance over the top of the desk. Seeing that it’s clear you quickly rise to your feet. You run towards the doorway, picking up a gun off of one of the dead Hydra Agents on the way. You look at the hole in the floor, caused by the grenade and all the dead Hydra Agents. You take a deep breath and quickly make your way to the stairwell at the other end of the hallway. You quickly run down the stairs, jumping down to the last landing. You shoot at any Hydra Agents you pass, but there’s just too many.
You take off running, quickly exiting the building, plenty of Hydra Agents following you. You run towards the quinjet, pumping your legs as fast as you can. Your lungs cry for you to stop, but you can’t. You finally make it to the quinjet and run inside. “Clint! Go!” The quinjet ramp closes and the quinjet takes off.
You look around the quinet, your eyes search for Natasha. You see her sitting off to the side with Bruce, running one of her hands up and down his back. You notice Natasha’s other hand is placed over her abdomen. You walk over to her and kneel down in front of her. “Let me look,” You say, gently pulling her hand from her stomach.
“I’m fine,” Natasha says. She gently slaps your hand away, before placing her hand back over her abdomen. “It’s just some bruising.”
“Babe, just let me take a look,” You say, reaching for her abdomen again.
“I said I’m fine!” Natasha says coldly. She continues to calm Bruce down, her hand never leaving his back.
You’re taken back at Natasha’s tone and you’re slightly embarrassed that she would talk to you like that in front of everyone. You rise to your feet and take a step back. “Okay.” You turn on your feet and head to the front of the quinjet. “Here you go, Tony,” You say, tossing him the flashdrive when you pass him.
You reach the front of the quinet and you plop down into the co-pilot seat next to Clint. You huff and slouch, crossing your arms over your chest as you look out at the clouds.
“Are you going to be grouchy the entire trip home?” Clint asks, glancing over at you. “Because if you are, can you move to the back?”
You look over at Clint, slightly smiling at his teasing smile. “Well now I think I should be grouchy just to annoy you,” You tease the archer.
“So are you going to tell me why you’re grouchy?” Clint asks.
“I’m not grouchy,” You mumble.
Clint rolls his eyes. “And I’m a terrible archer,” Clint replies sarcastically.
You sigh and look out of the quinjet, looking at the clouds again. “It’s Natasha.”
“What about Natasha?” Clint asks, glancing at you.
“She’s being...she won’t let me look at her injury.” You look back over at Clint.
“That’s just Natasha,” Clint says with a shrug.
“Yeah,” You say, turning to glance over your shoulder. You see Bruce kneeled down in front of Natasha, looking at the cut on her abdomen. “Then why is she letting Bruce help her?” You ask, turning around to look back at Clint.
Clint glances back, looking at Bruce. “I couldn’t tell you,” Clint says, focusing his attention back on the sky.
“Natasha has been getting really close with Bruce now that she knows how to calm him down when he’s green.” You say with a clench of your jaw.
“You’re jealous.”
The new voice startles you and you jump in your chair. You lean your head against the headrest of your chair and turn your head to look at the new person. “I’m not jealous, Wanda,” You say with a roll of your eyes. “I know Natasha loves me.”
“You seem so sure of that,” Wanda says teasingly.
“Are you good to get us home?” Clint asks. “I think I might try to get some sleep before we land.”
“Yeah, I got it. Go get some sleep, old man,” You say with a grin.
“Thanks,” Clint says. He stands up and heads to the back of the quinjet.
Wanda quickly takes Clint’s seat. She watches you for a few moments as you pilot the quinjet. “You’re bleeding,” Wanda says. She points to your arm where blood drips from under your short sleeve. You were so focused on finishing the mission and making it out of the building alive that you forgot about the bullet that wedged into your shoulder.
“I’m fine.”
Wanda narrows her eyes at you. “No you’re not. You got shot!”
You pull your hands from the quinjet controls for a moment. You rip the bottom of your dirt and blood covered, mission shirt and pull a long piece. “Here,” You hold the strip of fabric out to Wanda. “This will do until we get back home.”
Wanda hesitantly grabs the tattered piece of cloth. She would much rather patch you up now with the medical kit onboard the quinjet. But knowing you would refuse, Wanda lifts the sleeve of your shirt to your shoulder and wraps the cloth around your wound. “You’re bleeding a lot.”
“I’m fine,” You look over at Wanda and give her a reassuring smile.
Wanda looks at you and leans towards you. She sets her hand on your lower arm and gently squeezes. “I know you are.” Wanda smiles at you.
“I love you, Wands.”
“I love you too, Y/N.”
---
You land the quinjet and you and Wanda wait for everyone in the back to get off of the quinjet. You slowly stand up and you sway a little. You put your hands on Wanda’s biceps to stabilize yourself and to try and get the quinjet to stop spinning.
Wanda immediately grabs your shoulders, gripping tightly. “Are you okay?”
“I’m f-”
“You’re not,” Wanda interrupts.
“Perhaps not,” You agree.
“What’s wrong?” Wanda asks.
“I’m...dizzy,” You say. “I think it’s-”
“The blood loss,” Wanda cuts you off.
“Yeah,” You breathe out. Your head falls against Wanda’s shoulder as the dizziness hits you harder.
“Hey, come on. Let’s get you to the med bay,” Wanda says. She runs her hands from your shoulder and down to your waist.
“I’m tired,” You whisper, making no effort to move.
“I know,” Wanda says. “We need to get you medical attention.” You nod against Wanda’s shoulder.
“I know, I just need a moment.” You and Wanda stand in silence while Wanda rubs tiny circles on your waist.
Wanda feels your shoulders slump against her. “Y/N?” Wanda looks over you.
“‘M fine,” You slur.
Wanda gently lifts your head with her hand, looking over your face. Your eyes are half open and you're the palest she’s ever seen you. “I’ve got you,” Wanda says. She wraps one of your arms over her shoulder and wraps one of hers around your waist. Wanda starts to lead you out of the quinjet. “Come on, help me out a little,” Wanda says, when you let your feet drag along the floor.
Wanda manages to get you into the elevator and you lean on her more. You let your head fall sideways and onto Wanda’s shoulder. “Wands, I’m tired,” You whine.
“I know,” Wanda says. She takes her hand not wrapped around your waist and brushes your hair behind your ear. “We’re almost there, just hang in, okay?”
“Okay,” You say with a nod.
The elevator doors slide open and Wanda quickly helps you to the medical bay. “Y/N has a GSW to the shoulder. She’s lost a lot of blood!” Wanda announces to the closest doctor.
“Follow me!” The doctor says, quickly walking away. Wanda follows the doctor. The doctor leads you and Wanda to a room. “Set her there!” The doctor points to the hospital bed in the middle of the room.
Wanda gently sets you down on the edge of the hospital bed. You immediately slump back, falling against the bed. Wanda rounds the side of the bed and grasps your hand. You look up at Wanda and give her a small smile. Wanda reciprocates the smile and squeezes your hand. You let your eyes close and let darkness take over.
---
The doctor kicked Wanda out of the room as soon as you passed out. Wanda looked over the nurse’s shoulder as she gently shoved Wanda out of the room. She saw your unconscious figure and started to panic. You, Wanda’s best friend, is not okay. That scared Wanda. The nurse closed the door in Wanda’s face and that’s when Wanda came to her senses. She needed to tell Natasha about your current state.
Wanda searches throughout the compound, looking for the redhead assassin. Wanda finds Natasha in her room, with her shirt pulled up slightly to look at the bruising on her abdomen. Wanda looks at Natasha and nervously scratches the back of her neck, not knowing how to tell Natasha that her girlfriend is about to have emergency surgery.
“Wanda, what’s up?” Natasha asks, dropping her shirt to let it fall back in place.
“It’s Y/N,” Wanda says.
Natasha snaps her head up to look at Wanda, her eyes wide in fear. “What about Y/N? Is she okay?”
“Y/N is having emergency surgery,” Wanda says.
“What?” Natasha jumps to her feet. “What...What happened?”
“She got shot in the shoulder and lost a lot of blood.”
“Shit!” Natasha runs to her doorway. She stops and turns to look at Wanda “Thank you for telling me!” Natasha takes off running.
---
You blink your eyes open, quickly closing them as the bright lights blind you. You squint your eyes open, letting them adjust to the light before fully opening them. Your eyes flicker around the room. Your eyes meet emerald green ones and you smile.
Natasha stands up from the chair she’s sitting in and she grabs your hand. “Y/N, I rushed over here as soon as Wanda told me what happened. I’m sorry I wasn’t here for you sooner.” Natasha brings your interlocked fingers up and places a gentle kiss against your hand.
“Maybe if you weren’t spending so much time with Bruce, you would’ve been,” You say, jaw clenching as you remember the events on the quinjet.
Natasha’s eyes widen for a moment before she relaxes her face. Her hand slips out of yours and she crosses her arms over her chest. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing,” You mutter.
“No, tell me,” Natasha says, her voice stern.
“It doesn’t matter,” You say.
“Right,” Natasha says. “Well if it doesn’t matter, I’m leaving.” Natasha turns her back towards you, heading towards the door. “Feel better.”
You watch as Natasha leaves the room and groans in frustration. You sit up in the bed, groaning at the pulling pain in your shoulder. You look at the IV in your arm and yank it out, wincing at the slight pain. You swing your legs over the side of the bed and stand up. You see a spare set of clothes sitting on one of the chairs and quickly change into them. You struggle to pull your shirt on, but manage to get it on with a lot of pain shooting through your shoulder. Just as you’re about to exit the room, the door opens and you take a step back.
“Y/N? What are you doing out of bed?” Wanda asks, rushing over to you. She gently places her hands on your arms and leads you back to the bed. She sits you down on the bed.
“Wanda, I’m fine,” You say, gently swatting her hands away from you.
Wanda huffs. “Yeah, you said that four hours ago on the quinjet and look where you ended up.”
“I really am fine this time,” You say. “Just a little pain.”
“I saw Natasha leave. She looked pissed.” Wanda sits down next to you on the bed. She grabs your hand and pulls it into her lap so she can play with your fingers. “What happened?”
You sigh. “Just a little argument.”
Wanda knows better than to push you, you would tell her more when you’re ready. The two of you sit in a comfortable silence. Wanda finally breaks the silence.
“I was really worried about you,” Wanda admits. “You really scared me.”
You look over at Wanda. “I’m sorry.” You sigh and set your head on Wanda’s shoulder. “You know you can’t get rid of me that easily,” You joke.
Wanda smiles and stops playing with your fingers. Instead, she interlocks her fingers with yours. “I know. Never scare me like that again.”
“I promise,” You say, squeezing her hand.
---
Over the next few days, you started to notice that Natasha was spending less time with you. You figured it was because of your short argument, but it didn’t mean it hurt any less. You also started to notice that Natasha was starting to spend more time with Bruce. The first time you noticed it was at dinner one night.
You sit down in your usual spot, greeting your friends as you sit down. You smile at Natasha, but soon frown when she sits down next to Bruce instead of you. Wanda sits next to you instead. You smile at Wanda. You ignore most of the conversation at dinner, spending most of the time wondering why Natasha didn’t sit next to you.
The next time you notice it is when you’re finally able to train again. You walk into the training room with Steve at your side. “Are you ready to get back to training?” Steve asks.
“Yeah, I can’t wait!” You say with a smile. “It’s been too long!” Your smile drops when you see Natasha and Bruce on the other side of the training room. Natasha told you she couldn’t train with you because she was busy.
“Come on!” Steve says, stepping onto the mat he set up. “I’m ready to kick your ass!” Steve jokes.
You laugh. “In your dreams Rogers!”
You notice it again during Avengers movie night. You sit down on the couch, looking at Natasha hopefully when she walks into the room. She sits down on the opposite side of the couch and you frown. Bruce walks into the room and plops down in between you and Natasha. You sigh and move to the empty armchair on the other side of the room. Halfway through the movie, you saw Bruce and Natasha cuddling together. You couldn’t take seeing them so close together and you left.
The next and last time you notice it is when you’re walking to the kitchen one morning. You hear laughter as you approach the kitchen, you smile when you notice that it’s Natasha who is laughing. You frown a moment later when you hear Bruce’s laugh. You stop in your steps, not sure if you want to walk into the kitchen while they’re both there together. You sigh and turn around.
“When are you going to break up with her?” Bruce asks.
Your ears perk up at Bruce’s words.
“Bruce, Y/N and I have been together for three years. It’s not that easy,” Natasha says with a sigh.
You hear your heartbeat in your ears. Was Natasha really planning on breaking up with you?
“I know. I just feel bad doing this to her behind her back. She doesn’t deserve it,” Bruce says. “I see the way she looks at us when we’re together. She’s sad.”
You turn back around and face the kitchen. You take a deep breath. You walk into the kitchen and immediately lock eyes with Natasha, who is sitting on top of the counter. She looks away, looking down at her cup of coffee.
“Good morning, Y/N, how are y-”
“Shut up!” You say, pointing your finger at Bruce.
“Woah, no need to be hostile,” Bruce chuckles nervously, holding his hands up in surrender.
“Leave,” You say, looking at Bruce. “Now.”
“Uh yeah, I was just leaving anyway,” Bruce says awkwardly.
You watch as Bruce leaves the kitchen. Once he’s out of sight, you look back up at Natasha. You watch Natasha, her eyes are still locked on her cup of coffee. “Look at me,” You say. You wait a moment. “Please,” You beg. Natasha hesitantly lifts her eyes from her mug and looks at you. “You’re planning on breaking up with me?” You ask.
Natasha’s shoulders slump and she sighs. “You heard?”
You close your eyes. “It’s true?” You ask, your voice wavering.
“You weren’t supposed to find out like this,” Natasha says. “I’m sorry.”
You open your eyes, seeing that Natasha is still looking at you. “You’re leaving me...for Bruce?” You clench your fists.
Natasha sighs. “Y/N, I-”
“Then do it,” You cut Natasha off.
“What?” Natasha asks. Natasha raises her eyebrows at you.
“If you’re going to break up with me, then do it,” You say, looking Natasha dead in the eyes. “
Natasha sets her coffee cup down next to her and hops off of the counter. She walks over to you, stopping right in front of you. “Y/N, I am so, so sorry. I never wanted it to happen.”
“Just get it over with, break up with me,” You say, your voice cracking.
Natasha looks at you sadly. “I’m breaking up with you,” Natasha says, her voice cracking just as much as yours.
You inhale a shaky breath, wishing, hoping this was some kinda nightmare. But when Natasha grabs your hands and holds them in hers, you know it’s real. You quickly snatch your hands from hers like you’ve been burned. “You…” You pause and take a deep breath. “You were supposed to be my forever,” You say. “But instead, you fell out of love with me and fell in love with him.” Without another word, you turn on your heels and leave. You pass Bruce, who was waiting outside of the kitchen. You grab Bruce by the collar of his shirt and press him against the wall. “If you hurt Natasha, you will regret it.” Bruce nods and you let him go before walking away.
---
Not too much later, you find yourself in the empty training room. You walk to the corner where the punching bag is hanging from the ceiling. You look at your hands, deciding you don’t need to wrap them. You start punching it, starting with light punches.
You run through the halls of the compound. “Excuse me! Sorry!” You say, shoving past people. You skid around the corner and burst into the medical bay. Your eyes frantically search for the closest nurse. “Excuse me, sir!” You call out, rushing over to the nurse.
“Y/N, how may I help you?” The nurse asks. “You’re not injured, are you?”
“Natasha,” You breathe out. “Where is she? How is she? Can I see her? Please tell me something!”
“Take a deep breath,” The nurse says. “Natasha is fine.” You breathe out a sigh of relief. “I can take you to see her now.” You follow the nurse to Natasha’s room, and he leaves you standing in front of the door.
You take a deep breath as you gently push the door open. Your breath catches in your throat as you see all of the wires connected to Natasha. You step into the room and close the door behind you. You walk to the side of the hospital bed and sit down in one of the chairs. You grab Natasha’s hand and run your thumb over her bruised knuckles. “Get better, Nat. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
You’re not sure exactly how long it’s been, but a small tug on your hand has you jolting awake. Your eyes are wide as you look around, your eyes meeting emerald green ones. “Natasha!” You exclaim.
Natasha smiles at you. “Hey,” She whispers. “How long have you been here?”
“I’m not sure,” You reply honestly. “I ran here as soon as Steve called me.”
“Weren’t you in the city?” Natasha asks.
“I was,” You say, with a nod. “But there was too much traffic for me to take a taxi back here, so I ran.”
“I can’t believe you ran from the city,” Natasha says with a small laugh.
“I had to! I care about you and… and I was really worried about you!”
“You were worried about me?” Natasha asks.
“Yes!” You exclaim. “I really like you Natasha and you’re a big part of my life. You mean so much to me. If I were to lose you, I think I would lose myself too. When I say I really like you, I like, really, really like you, like I-”
“Y/N,” Natasha cuts you off.
“Yeah?” You ask.
“Kiss me.”
“What?” You ask, taken off guard.
“I said, kiss me.”
You scratch the back of your neck nervously. “Nat-” Natasha grabs the front of your shirt and pulls you closer to her. She crashes her lips against yours. It takes you a moment but you kiss her back. You pull back and press your forehead against Natasha’s. “Wow,” You breathe out.
Natasha chuckles at you. “Wow indeed.”
“What uhm, what does this mean for us?” You ask, looking into her eyes.
“Whatever you want it to mean,” Natasha says.
You smile. “Let’s see where it takes us, how about that?”
Natasha grabs your hand. “I like the sound of that.”
You punch at the punching bag harder, feeling your knuckles split open.
You and Natasha are walking through the park with your fingers interlocked together. You swing your hands in between the two of you. Snow gently falls from the sky above.
“You know,” Natasha says, turning her head to look at you. “I don’t know what I would do without you in my life.”
“Yeah?” You ask with a smile on your face.
Natasha nods. “I love you.” Natasha smiles at you. “You don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready, but I love you.”
You stop in your tracks and pull Natasha to a stop. You pull Natasha into you and rest your forehead against hers. “I love you too,” You say, looking into Natasha’s eyes.
“Yeah?” Natasha asks, repeating your question from earlier.
“So fucking much,” You say before crashing your lips against hers.
You’re pulled out of your thoughts when a sharp pain surges through your hand. You stop your punches and look down at your hands. Blood trickles out of your knuckles and two of your fingers on your left hand are definitely broken. You turn your back to the wall and lean against it. You slide down the wall and pull your knees to your chest, hugging them tightly. You hate that you feel so much pain, but feel so numb at the same time.
---
You’re not sure how long you’ve been sitting on the floor of the training room, staring off into the distance and thinking about your favorite moments with Natasha. But you’re pulled out of it when someone kneels down in front of you. You focus your eyes and see Wanda.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Wanda asks with a concerned look. Wanda brings her hands up to your face and cups your cheeks. She runs her thumbs over your cheeks, wiping away your tears - you hadn’t even noticed that you were crying. “What happened?” Wanda notices the way you clench your jaw at her question. She searches your eyes for anything, but she’s met with a blank stare.
Wanda pulls her hands from your face and moves to sit next to you. She knows you’ll tell her when you’re ready and she’s willing to sit here all day if she has to. Wanda grabs one of your hands, and when she does, she gasps at your bloody knuckles. “What happened?” Wanda glances at your face before looking back at your hand. She grabs at your other hand, noticing that one is in the same condition.
“Punched the punching bag,” You say with a shrug.
“Without wrapping your hands?” Wanda asks. She’s surprised - she knows you’re not this reckless, knowing you need to be in pristine condition to have successful missions.
You nod. “Yeah.” You let out a deep sigh.
“Y/N, please talk to me,” Wanda pleads. “What happened?”
You look down at your feet, staring at the laces of your shoes. “Natasha, uhm she broke up with me,” You say, your voice cracking.
Wanda’s eyes widen at the information. “What?”
“She… She’s with Bruce,” You lift your head and look over at Wanda. “She left me for Bruce.”
“Are you okay?” Wanda asks. She knows it’s a dumb question, but she’s never seen you like this and your calmness about the situation scares her.
“I don’t think so,” You admit.
“How about this,” Wanda says. “I’ll get your hands cleaned up and then we can go back to my room and watch movies for the rest of the day.”
“Okay.” You nod.
Wanda stands up and holds her hand out for you. You place your hand in hers and she pulls you to your feet. You follow Wanda out of the training room, following her through the compound. Your heart aches when you pass Natasha and Bruce cuddling in the living room.
You reach Wanda’s room and she opens the door, letting you in and following in behind you. She closes the door and watches as you stand at the foot of the bed, wrapping your arms around yourself. Wanda goes into the bathroom and returns to her bedroom with a first aid kit moments later. Wanda sits on the edge of the bed and pats the spot next to her. You sit down and look down at your hands.
Wanda sets the first aid kit down next to her and opens it. She grabs an alcohol wipe. “Let me see,” Wanda says gently, motioning to your hands. You hold one of your hands out to Wanda and she gently grabs it. She presses the alcohol wipe to your knuckles and your hand flinches as you wince. “Sorry,” Wanda apologizes.
In a few minutes, your knuckles are clean and your two broken fingers are taped together with medical tape. Wanda cleans up the mess of dirty alcohol wipes and moves back to the bathroom to put the first aid kit away. Wanda sits at the top of her bed, resting against the headboard. “Come here,” Wanda says with a smile.
You move to the top of the bed and sit next to Wanda. “What do you want to watch?” Wanda asks, picking up the television remote.
“Whatever is fine,” You say with a shrug.
Wanda puts on some comedy movie and you find yourself cuddled up with Wanda. Your head is on her chest and your arm is sprawled across her stomach. Wanda runs her fingers through your hair. Your eyes are fixed on the television, but you’re not paying attention. Your thoughts are still on Natasha and how she broke up with you for Bruce. You feel your heart break again at the thought.
“Wanda,” You whisper.
“Yes?” Wanda asks softly.
“I don’t think I’m okay,” You say, feeling tears run down your face.
Wanda moves her hand from your hair and places it on your shoulder. Wanda feels her own heart break when she notices your shoulders shake as you sob. Wanda moves her hands down to your waist and pulls you into her lap. Wanda holds you tightly, wrapping her arms around you. You bury your face in the crook of her neck, watching your tears drip onto her shirt. Wanda shifts her hands from your waist to your back and runs her hands up and down. “It’s okay, you’ll be okay.”
---
Much like you found Natasha spending more time with Bruce, you found yourself spending more time with Wanda. Wanda is your best friend, so of course, you’re happy about that. You still found it hard when you would bump into Natasha in the compound, especially when Bruce was with her, but Wanda was always there to help you through those tough moments.
“How’s your hand feeling?” Wanda asks. The two of you are currently walking to the training room together.
“It’s a lot better,” You say, flexing your hand. “My knuckles and my broken fingers feel a lot better.”
“That’s good!” Wanda smiles at you.
“Maybe that means you’ll stop taking it easy on me when we spar,” You say, bumping Wanda’s shoulder with yours.
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” Wanda says with a smirk.
You roll your eyes at Wanda. “Sure you don’t,” You say sarcastically. You push the door to the training room open and walk in. “I want a challenge, Wanda.”
“Oh, you want a challenge?” Wanda asks with a smirk. “I can give you a challenge.”
You stop in your tracks when you see Natasha and Bruce training on the other side of the room. Natasha swiftly takes Bruce down in one move and they laugh about something as she helps Bruce back to his feet.
“Hey,” Wanda steps in front of you, blocking your view of the couple. “Don’t pay attention to them.” Wanda sets her hands on your arms and gently squeezes them. “Focus on how I’m about to kick your ass.”
You chuckle at Wanda’s joke. “In your dreams, Wands.” You and Wanda set up a mat in the middle of the training room. You didn’t notice, but Wanda definitely stared at your biceps while you carried the mat.
You and Wanda step onto the mat and stand across from each other. You both ready your fists. “Ready for your challenge?” Wanda asks with a smirk.
“I’m always ready,” You reply with a smirk of your own.
Wanda is the first to move. She swiftly steps forward and throws a punch at your face. You quickly sidestep, barely managing to dodge Wanda’s punch, watching as her fist flies past your face. Before you can even think, Wanda’s other fist connects with the side of your face. You quickly shake your head, trying to rid the pain that surges through your face. You look over at Wanda, seeing that she has a cocky smirk on her face.
You pull your arm back and surge it forward, throwing a punch at Wanda’s face. Wanda is quick and catches your fist just before it connects with her face. “Nice try,” Wanda says with a smirk. And before you can even blink, your back slams against the mat below you. Wanda falls on top of you, pinning your hands to the mat. When you finally catch your breath, you realize how close Wanda is, you can feel her breath on your neck.
“How’s that for a challenge?” Wanda whispers.
“Y..yeah, it was a good challenge,” You stutter out. “You kicked my ass.”
“Like I said I would,” Wanda says. “And I’ll do it again.” Wanda climbs off of you. “Yeah, you think you can?” You ask with a smirk. You prop yourself up on your elbows.
“What’re you smirking at?” Wanda asks, crossing her arms over her chest and looking down at you.
You quickly move your foot, sweeping Wanda’s feet out from under her. Wanda slams into the mat, just like you did moments earlier. Wanda quickly sits up and glares while you laugh. “That was cheap!” Wanda exclaims.
You sit up and pull your legs to your chest. You rest your head on your knees. “I saw my chance and took it,” You say with a shrug.
Wanda smiles at you. The two of you sit in silence, just staring at each other. “Come on,” Wanda says, breaking the silence and climbing to her feet. “I still have to kick your ass again.”
Wanda holds her hand out for you. You grab Wanda’s hand and she pulls you to your feet. She quickly twists you around and pulls your back into her before wrapping her arms around your head and holding you in a headlock. “I can take cheap shots too,” Wanda whispers in your ear.
---
“You and Wanda seem close.”
You look up with a sigh and roll your eyes. You shove the flash drive into the computer. “Wanda is my best friend,” You say, looking back at the computer screen. You type a few things and watch as a download bar pops up.
“The two of you seem like you’re more than friends.”
“What’re you, jealous?” You ask, glancing over at Natasha. “Because last I checked, you broke up with me. You don’t have the right to be jealous.”
“I’m not jealous,” Natasha says, looking out of the small window on the door.
“Right,” You scoff. “Why do you care?
“I still care about you, Y/N,” Natasha says. “I just want to make sure you know what you’re doing.”
“Look,” You watch the download bar move across the computer screen. “You don’t get to comment on my dating life.”
“So you and Wanda are dating?” Natasha asks.
“No!” You look over at Natasha. “And if Wanda and I were dating, it’s none of your business.”
“I still want to be friends,” Natasha says, looking over at you.
You sigh. “I’m not saying that can’t happen,” You take the flash drive out of the computer as the download bar completes and shove it into your pocket. “It’s going to take some time.” You walk over towards Natasha.
Natasha nods. “That’s unders-”
“Nat, get down!” You shove Natasha and tackle her to the ground just in time to dodge the bullets that come flying through the door.
Natasha is quick to grab the back of your head and pull it towards her chest to protect it from the bullets. The bullets finally come to a stop and you quickly get off of Natasha and pull your gun from the holster strapped to your thigh. Natasha quickly gets to her feet and readies her gun.
You look at each other. “Ready?” Natasha asks. You nod and Natasha opens the door and the two of you immediately start firing at the Hydra Agents. Soon enough, you and Natasha take the Hydra Agents out.
Your breaths come heavy and tears start to block your vision. “Nat?” Natasha looks at you. You bring shaky hands to your abdomen and pull them away, looking at the crimson covering them.
“Fuck,” Natasha mutters. She’s at your side in a second. She immediately runs to your side. “Y/L/N is down,” Natasha informs the group. You drop to your knees and Natasha wraps her arm around your waist and helps you back to your feet. “Come on, Y/N, stay with me,” Natasha says, placing your arm around her shoulders.
You mumble something incoherent and Natasha glances at you, noticing how pale you are. Natasha starts leading you out of the building, shooting every Hydra Agent the two of you come across. Natasha successfully gets you out of the building and the moment your feet touch the pavement, you collapse to the ground, catching yourself on your hands and knees. Natasha is quick to kneel down next to you.
“Nat,” You whisper, looking at her with teary eyes.
“It’s okay, I’m right here,” Natasha says. “We need to get you to the quinjet.”
You nod, “I’m just… so tired.”
“I know, but you can do it,” Natasha says. “I’ll be with you every step of the way.” Natasha helps you back to your feet, once again placing her arm around your waist and your arm around her shoulders.
“I’m sorry,” You gasp out as Natasha starts walking.
“We’re not doing this,” Natasha says.
“I don’t want to lose you,” You say. “Even as a friend. I-” You’re cut off by a cough ripping through your throat. You bring your hand up and wipe your mouth with the back of it, riding the blood that came with the cough. “You mean a lot to me and I will always love you.”
“Stop,” Natasha says. “You can tell me all of this after we make it back to the compound and you’re safe.” Natasha is quick to get you to the quinjet, and as soon as you step on, Wanda is at your other side and she helps Natasha lay you down across a few of the seats.
Wanda kneels down next to you with tears running down her face. She leans her forehead against yours. “Please you have to be okay,” Wanda begs. “
“Wands,” You give her a small smile. “I’ll be okay.”
“You can’t leave me,” Wanda says, looking into your eyes.
“I won’t,” You say weakly, grabbing her hand with yours.
“I love you,” Wanda says.
“I love you too, Wanda.” You squeeze her hand.
“I don’t think you understand,” Wanda says. “I love you.”
You weakly nod. “I know,” You say. “And I love you.”
That’s the last thing you say before everything goes dark.
---
You let out a soft groan and slowly open your eyes. You close your eyes and sink further down into the bed.
“Hey.”
You open your eyes and turn your head towards the voice. “Wanda,” You whisper. Wanda smiles at you. You notice her features and notice that she looks exhausted. “How long have you been here?”
“Two days.”
Your eyes widen. “Two days? Wanda, you need to go get some rest!”
“I needed to make sure you were okay,” Wanda says with a small smile. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I got shot in the abdomen,” You tease. “I’m fine for now, but I’m sure that’s the meds in my system.”
Wanda grabs your hand. “I’m glad you’re okay. I was really scared that you weren’t going to make it.”
You give Wanda’s hand a gentle squeeze. “I’m okay, Wands, I’m right here.”
Wanda nods. “I know.”
The two of you sit in silence for a moment, until Wanda finally breaks it.
“Did you mean it?” Wanda asks, looking at you.
“What I said on the quinjet?” You ask. Wanda nods her head. “Wands, I love you so fucking much.”
Wanda smiles at you. “Lucky for you, I also love you very much.”
“You call it lucky, I call it unlucky,” You joke.
Wanda slaps your arm playfully. “Not nice!”
“I’m kidding!” You laugh. “All jokes aside, I want to give us a go.”
“Are you asking me out?” Wanda asks with a smirk. “Because you’re not selling it.”
You roll your eyes at Wanda.
“Wanda, oh glorious Wanda, will you give me the pleasure and date me?”
Wanda acts like she’s thinking for a moment. “You know what, I think I could, yeah.”
“Are you accepting?” You ask. “Because you’re not selling it,” You repeat Wanda’s words.
“Yes, Y/N, I would love to date you.” Wanda smiles at you.

She Was A Sk8er Girl
A/N: I’m back to writing baby! Also, I’m not a pro skater, I just skate casually, so if there’s any terms or things that are wrong, just ignore it! THIS WASN’T EDITED/LOOKED OVER SO I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR ANY MISTAKES!!!
Here’s a link to my Masterlist!
Warnings: Cursing (Let me know if I need to add any!!!)
Word Count: 6,089
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: You’re a professional skateboarder you’re dating the famous Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff. Natasha Romanoff is dating you, a famous skateboarder. No one knows of your relationship - not your friends and not her friends. Peter is a big fan of you so Tony arranges you to come to the Avengers Tower where he set up ramps. You and Natasha have to act like you don’t know each other. Based off of this ask.
You drop into the bowl, quickly skating to the other side. Once you reach the top of the other side, you tap the front of your skateboard to it before quickly skating back down into the bowl. You skate back and forth between the sides of the bowl. You spot your girlfriend walking over and when you reach the top of one side of the bowl, you hop out.
“Where are you going, Y/N?” One of your skater friends asks.
“Don’t worry Josh, I’ll be right back!” You say, pushing your foot against the ground to push your skateboard forward.
You quickly skate over to your girlfriend. Once you reach your girlfriend, you put one of your feet on the ground, letting it skid against the ground and pull you to a stop. You step off of your skateboard. You kick your foot down on the edge of your skateboard and it flies up. You quickly catch it with your hand before it falls back to the ground.
“Hey, babe,” You say, leaning forward and kissing your girlfriend on the cheek.
“Hey!” Natasha says, moving her head to catch your lips.
You smile into the kiss.
Natasha pulls away. “Where’s your helmet?”
“Nat!” You whine. “I’m a professional skateboarder, I don’t need a helmet!”
“I will not have you falling and cracking your head open!” Natasha says. “Now, where is your helmet?”
“It’s in my car,” You say with a sigh. “Then let’s go get it,” Natasha says, holding her hand out for you.
You grab Natasha’s hand with your free hand and interlock your fingers with her.
“So, what’re you doing here?” You ask, looking at Natasha.
“What, not happy to see me?” Natasha asks, looking at you.
“No, I am! I’m always happy to see you babe!” You say quickly. “It’s just that you don’t visit the skatepark very often.”
“I have the afternoon off, so I decided to come visit,” Natasha says with a smile. “I knew you would be here.”
“You should’ve told me you had the afternoon off!” You say. “I could’ve taken you out to lunch!”
Natasha smiles at you. “It was a last minute thing,” Natasha says. “Plus, I like watching you skate around.”
“Well, next time you get the afternoon off, I’m taking you out to lunch,” You say.
“Deal,” Natasha says, giving your hand a squeeze.
You and Natasha reach your car. You set your skateboard against the side of your car. You reach into the front pocket of your jeans and pull your keys out. You unlock your car.
Natasha moves to the trunk of your car, and you follow as your hands are still connected. Natasha let’s go of your hand and she opens the trunk of your car. Natasha reaches into the trunk and grabs your purple helmet. She closes the trunk and turns to you.
“Here,” Natasha says, setting the helmet on your head. Natasha moves her hands to connect the strap under your chin.
You quickly move your hands up, lightly slapping Natasha’s hands away from the strap. “Nat, I’m not five years old, I don’t need the strap connected!”
“Fine, fine!” Natasha says, moving her hands away. “Thank you for wearing your kneepads and your elbow pads.”
“Of course,” You say, smiling at Natashan
“Now, come on, let’s get you back so you can skate,” Natasha says.
You grab your skateboard from where you placed it on the side of your car. You set it on the ground. “Hop on,” You say, pointing to your skateboard.
Natasha cautiously steps on your skateboard, putting her hands out to the side for balance as the board tilts a little.
“Are you ready?” You ask with a smirk.
“Ready for what?” Natasha asks, looking over her shoulder to look at you.
“Just keep your feet planted,” You say. “Oh! You might need this!” You quickly take the helmet off of your head and gently place it on Natasha’s.
“Wait, why?” Natasha asks.
You ignore your girlfriend’s question and gently place your hands on her back.
“Remember, keep your feet on the board!”
You set your foot on the back of the board and gently push it forward.
“Woah!” Natasha says as the board starts to move.
You keep the board moving by pushing against Natasha’s back gently. You pick the pace up and start running, moving the board quickly.
“Y/N!” Natasha exclaims, throwing her hands out to keep her balance.
You smile and continue to push Natasha.
You quickly reach the skatepark. You gently tug on Natasha’s arm to stop the skateboard from moving.
As soon as the skateboard stops moving, Natasha immediately gets off and faces you. She starts to lightly slap you.
“Ow! Ow! Hey!” You exclaim, putting your arms up to protect yourself from your girlfriend’s slaps.
You feel the slaps die down and you lower your arms. “What was that for?”
“For doing that!” Natasha says, pointing to your skateboard.
“Oh, come on!” You say with a smile. “You’re an Avenger who isn’t scared of anything, but you can’t ride a skateboard?”
“I am not answering that question!” Natasha says.
“Come on, babe!” You exclaim. “I know you enjoyed that!”
Natasha smiles at you. “I did,” Natasha says, taking your helmet off of her head. “Now, I think you need this back,” Natasha places the helmet onto your head.
“Awe, did your girlfriend make you put your helmet on?”
You and Natasha turn to face the new person who joined you.
“Wow, you’re really funny, Josh,” You say with a roll of your eyes.
“You should be wearing a helmet too, Josh!” Natasha says, looking at your best friend.
“I don’t need it!” Josh says.
“Where is your helmet, Josh?” Natasha asks, placing her hands on her hips.
“It’s over on the bench,” Josh says, pointing to a bench behind him.
“Go put it on,” Natasha says.
“Yes, ma’am,” Josh says defetedly.
Josh walks towards the bench.
“Nat!” You lightly slap your girlfriend on the arm.
“What?” Natasha asks, looking at you. “Don’t you want your best friend to be safe?”
“Of course, but Josh is an adult, he can make his own decisions!”
“I’m sure Josh’s girlfriend will be happy that I made him put his helmet on,” Natasha says. “Just like I’m sure his girlfriend knows I feel the same when she tells you to put yours on.”
“So,” Josh says, returning with his helmet on his head. “To what do we owe the pleasure of the best Avenger?”
You roll your eyes at Josh’s praise to your girlfriend.
“I ended up getting the afternoon off,” Natasha says. “I wanted to visit my girlfriend,” Natasha says, bumping your shoulder with hers.
When you told Josh you were dating one of the Avengers, he absolutely freaked. He thought it was so cool and he had a lot of questions.
---
You and Josh are skating around the skatepark. You skate side by side. You take your right foot off of your skateboard and push it against the ground before quickly returning it to the top of your skateboard.
“So,” You say, looking at Josh. “I have some news.”
“Yeah?” Josh asks, looking at you. “Good or bad?”
“It’s definitely good,” You say with a smile. “Wanna take a water break?”
“Sure,” Josh says.
You and Josh skate over to a bench where you both dropped your stuff when you arrived at the skatepark.
You both hop off of your skateboards and set them up against the bench. You lean down and grab your water bottle, watching as Josh does the same. You take a long sip of your water.
“So, what’s the good news?” Josh asks, opening his water bottle.
“I have a girlfriend,” You say with a big smile.
“No shit, really?” Josh asks, smiling at you.
“No shit,” You say with a nod of your head.
“Hell yeah,” Josh says, holding out his free hand in a fist.
You fist bump Josh.
“So, who’s the lucky girl?” Josh asks.
“You’re not going to believe this, but uh,” You pause, your smile growing wider. “It’s Black Widow.”
Josh studies your face for a moment. “Nice joke,” Josh says, lightly punching your shoulder. “Who are you really dating?”
“Dude, I’m not lying,” You say, setting your water bottle on the ground. “Here, I can prove it to you.” You quickly search through your backpack and grab your phone. You pull your phone out and pull up the photo app. You quickly scroll through and find a photo of you and Natasha together. Natasha is kissing you on the cheek with her arms wrapped around you. You turn your phone around and show it to Josh.
“No way!” Josh exclaims, snatching your phone from your hand. Josh studies the photo. He looks back up at you and hands you your phone.
“Yeah way,” You say, taking your phone back and shoving it into your backpack.
“How did you meet?”
“I was walking home and someone stole my backpack, Natasha was there and she stopped the man. We hit it off and we exchanged numbers.”
“I bet she’s cool, right? Wait, actually don’t answer that, your answer will be biased!”
“I mean she is cool,” You say with a smile.
“How long have you been dating?” Josh asks.
“Six months,” You say.
Six months and you’re just now telling me?”
“Well, with both mine and Natasha’s profession, hers more than mine, we decided not to tell anyone,” You say. “By the way, you can’t say anything!”
“I won’t!” Josh says.
You were nervous for the day you finally brought Natasha to the skatepark and introduced her to Josh.
“Holy shit! You’re… You’re Black Widow!”
“Natasha is fine,” Natasha says with a small smile.
“You’re so much hotter in person!” Josh says.
“Joshua!” You exclaim, punching your best friend in the arm.
“Sorry!” Josh apologizes quickly, running where you punched him. “I’m really nervous!”
---
Now, Natasha and Josh get along very well. Sometimes, you think Josh likes Natasha more than he likes you.
“Well, now the two of you won’t fall and split your heads open,” Natasha says, knocking both you and Josh on your helmets with her fists. “Now, you two go skate,” Natasha says, nodding her head towards all the ramps.
You quickly lean in and kiss Natasha on the cheek. You and Josh step on your boards and skate towards the ramps.
“Sometimes I still can’t believe you’re dating Black Widow!” Josh says with a chuckle.
“I somehow feel like that’s an insult,” You say, doing a kickflip.
“It’s not,” Josh says, doing an ollie and grinding across one of the bars. “It’s just crazy that you’re dating an Avenger!”
You nosegrind on the same rail that Josh did. “I mean, my life is crazy,” You say, dropping off of the bar. You follow Josh towards the ramps.
“What, because you’re a professional skateboarder and you’re dating an Avenger?” Josh asks.
“Exactly!” You say, wall grinding the side of the closest ramp.
“You act as if you’re lift can’t get any crazier,” Josh says with a laugh, doing a heel flip.
“I really don’t think it can!” You say.
---
Two Days Later
“Josh, Josh, Josh!” You say, quickly stopping your skateboard so you don’t crash into him.
“Ah, hello to you too, Y/N. I’m glad you can join me twenty minutes later than we planned,” Josh says with a teasing smile.
“I’m sorry, I just… The craziest thing just happened!” You exclaim.
“And I thought you said your life couldn’t get any crazier,” Josh says with raised eyebrows.
“Well, I fucking lied!” You say.
“Are you going to tell me what happened or are you going to leave me guessing?” Josh asks.
“Tony Stark just called me!” You rush out.
“What?” Josh asks.
“Yeah, yeah, look!” You quickly pull your phone out of your pocket and pull up your previous calls. You shove your phone into Josh’s face.
“Woah, woah!” Josh says, pulling his head back so he sees more than just the pixels of your phone. He looks at your latest call. “Are you pranking me? You could’ve easily gotten a friend to call you and then you could’ve changed their contact name! This is totally a prank!”
“I’m dating a fucking Avenger and you think I’m pranking you by telling you Tony Stark called me?” You ask, shoving your phone back into your pocket.
“I mean, I don’t know!” Josh says.
“Tony wants me to go to the Avengers Tower to help throw a surprise birthday party for his intern!”
“What?” Josh exclaims, grabbing your shoulders.
“I know!” You say, grabbing Josh’s shoulders. “Apparently Tony’s intern is a big fan of mine!”
“This is fucking great news!” Josh says, shaking you by your shoulders. “Obviously you took the job, right?”
“I did!” You say, letting go of Josh’s shoulders. “But, there is a slight problem.”
“And that is?” Josh asks, letting go of your shoulders.
“Natasha hasn’t introduced me to the Avengers,” You admit. “We’ve kept our relationship really private. Remember, you’re the only person besides me and Nat that knows we’re dating.”
“Well, it’s a great honor!” Josh says. “But I’m not sure why that’s a problem?”
“Because, I’m going to be with my girlfriend, in front of all the Avengers that I haven’t met!” You exclaim.
“I’m still not seeing the problem,” Josh says, shrugging his shoulders.
“I have to act like I don’t know my own girlfriend!” You say. “I won’t be able to hug her or kiss her!”
“Ohhhh!” Josh says with a nod of his head. “Yeah, that sucks!”
“Wow, you’re so helpful, Josh!” You say with a roll of your eyes.
“I know,” Josh says, playfully punching your arm. “Now come on, let’s play a game of S.K.A.T.E!” Josh says, stepping onto his skateboard.
“Oh, you’re on!” You say, stepping onto your own skateboard. “I’m gonna beat your ass!”
“In your dreams!” Josh says.
---
You step into the lobby of the Avengers Tower with your backpack on your shoulders and your backpack in your hand.
“Hi, can I help you?” A man asks when you reach the front desk.
“Hi, I’m-”
“Daryl, come on!” One of the other workers says. “You don’t know who that is?”
Daryl looks at you again, “Uh, should I?”
“That’s Y/N Y/L/N!” The other man says. “The famous skateboarder!”
“Oh right!” Daryl says “I’ve seen you on television!”
You give the two men an awkward smile. “Yeah, that’s me. I just skate around,” You say with an awkward hand gesture and you immediately regret it. “Uhm, anyway, I’m here to meet with Mr. Stark.”
“Right! Let me just check you in,” Daryl says, typing away at the computer in front of him. “Alright, you’re all set. Go ahead and take the elevator to the left and take it to the roof!”
“Thanks,” you say with a small smile.
You quickly make your way to the elevator and stay inside. You press the button for the rooftop and watch as the elevator doors close.
You tap your fingers against your skateboard nervously, watching the numbers at the top of the elevator increase as the elevator goes up the many floors.
The elevator finally comes to a stop and the doors slide open. You step out of the elevator and look around the rooftop.
“You must be Y/N,” Tony says, appearing in front of you.
“Hi, yes. It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Stark,” You say with a small smile.
“Oh, Tony is fine!” Tony says with a dismissive wave of his hand. “Let me introduce you to a few of my colleagues and friends!”
You follow Tony, walking behind him, as he leads you to the other side of the roof.
“Hey, gang,” Tony says, as he walks up to the group of superheroes. “Remember how I said I had a special guest coming today? Well, here she is!” Tony says, stepping aside to reveal you.
You immediately lock eyes with your girlfriend.
Natasha crosses her arms over her chest and she narrows her eyes at you.
“Everyone, this is Y/N Y/L/N,” Tony says, pointing at you. “Y/N, this is everyone!”
“Hi, I’m Steve,” The super soldier steps forward and holds his hand out.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you,” You say, shaking the super soldier’s hand.
“Hi, I’m Natasha,” Natasha says, stepping forward.
“Hi,” You say, holding your hand out.
Natasha grabs your hand and grips it firmly. She gives you a tight smile.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Natasha says.
Natasha lets go of your hand and steps back.
“So, why exactly is she here?” Natasha asks, looking at Tony.
“Right!” Tony says, clasping his hands together. “Peter is a big fan of Y/N, so for his birthday, I wanted to surprise him!” Tony says. “So, I’m having a small skatepark being put together right now, right behind the other side of the tower!” Tony says, walking to the other side.
You all follow Tony to the other side of the roof.
“Ta-da!” Tony says, gesturing to the ground.
You look over the railing of the roof, seeing ramps being put together by a crew. The tallest ramp catches your eye. “That’s pretty tall,” You say, pointing to it.
“I looked your record up for the tallest ramp you’ve skated down!” Tony says. “That ramp is ten feet taller than your record!”
“Wow,” You say with a small nod. “That’s impressive.”
“It’ll be impressive when you skate down it!” Tony says.
“You’re going to skate down that?” Clint asks, coming up beside you. “That’s fucking awesome!”
“Uh yeah,” You say, moving your eyes to look at Clint.
“Hell yeah!” Clint says, holding his hand out for a high-five.
You high-five the archer.
“Well, they’re almost finished,” Tony says. “And Peter should be here soon! So, let’s head down!”
You all make your way to the elevator. All the guys squeeze into the elevator, leaving a small spot for you.
“I’ll just take the next one,” You say.
“I don’t blame you,” Steve says with a smile.
You watch as the elevator doors close, leaving you alone with Natasha and Wanda.
“What are you doing here?” Natasha asks, grabbing your hand with hers and interlocking your fingers with hers. You look to your left where Natasha is standing and then quickly glance to your right where Wanda is standing. You look back at Natasha and mouth “what are you doing?”
“Natasha, aren’t you happy your girlfriend is here?” Wanda asks.
You quickly whip back to face Wanda. “I, uhm, what?” You ask with wide eyes.
“I know you and Nat are dating,” Wanda says with a smirk.
You look back at Natasha, looking for confirmation.
“Wanda is my best friend, Y/N,” Natasha says. “I told her about you.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I was coming,” You say, looking at Natasha. “I was kinda panicking about it, because I was panicking about the part where none of your friends know and I wouldn’t be able to be your girlfriend around them.”
“It’s okay,” Natasha says, smiling at you.
You smile back at your girlfriend. You lean over to her and kiss her on the cheek. You quickly pull away when you hear the elevator doors start to open.
“Come on,” Natasha says, stepping forward and dragging you into the elevator.
Wanda follows the two of you into the elevator.
Natasha pulls you into her side and smiles down at you.
“You two are the cutest,” Wanda says, smiling at you and Natasha.
“Thanks,” You say, smiling at Wanda.
“So, are you excited for today?” Wanda asks, leaning against the wall of the elevator.
“I mean, yeah,” You say with a nod. “Nervous too.”
“Nervous?” Natasha asks.
You lean your head on Natasha’s chest and look up at her. “Yeah. I’ve skated plenty of times in front of tons of people, but never the Avengers!” You let out a nervous chuckle.
Natasha leans down and presses a kiss to your forehead. “You’ve got nothing to be nervous about!”
“And it seems like Clint is excited to see what you’re going to do!” Wanda says. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Clint tried to skate down the super tall ramp!”
“With the amount of experience I assume he has, that would be a very bad idea,” You say with a small laugh.
You eye the number displayed at the top of the elevator and lift your head from Natasha’s chest. You take a small step away from her.
The elevator doors slide open and you follow Wanda and Natasha out of the elevator. They both lead you outside to where the ramps and the rails are set up for you.
“This is all for you!” Tony says, spreading his arms out to gesture to all the ramps and rails.
“Thank you, Tony,” You say with a smile.
“No, thank you!” Tony says. “Peter is going to be so happy when he gets here!” Tony says. “Speaking of which! He should be here soon! So, if you would like to warm up, feel free! And please, let me know if you need anything!”
“Will do,” You say.
Wanda and Tony excuse themselves, walking over towards the rest of the Avengers.
You move to a nearby chair. You set your skateboard down and swing your backpack off of your shoulders, setting it on the ground. You sit down in the chair.
You open your backpack and pull out your elbow pads and knee pads. You set your knee pads on your lap. You quickly slide your elbow pads up your arms, setting them at your elbows. You slip your vans off and slide your knee pads up to your knees.
You look up at Natasha, as you pull knee pads on.
“What’re you smiling at?” Natasha asks, a smile appearing on her face.
“You,” You say. “You’re really pretty.”
“Y/N,” Natasha says with a chuckle.
“It’s true! You are!” You say. “I want to kiss you.”
“We can’t,” Natasha says with a sad smile.
“I know,” You say.
After your knee pads are on, you slip your vans back on. You stand up, grabbing your skateboard off the ground by the trucks.
“Well, I should start warming up,” You say, starting to walk away.
“Not yet,” Natasha says, grabbing your arm and pulling you back.
You stumble back and look at your girlfriend. “What?”
“Where’s your helmet?” Natasha asks with a stern look.
You cringe. “Shit,” You curse. “I left it at my apartment.”
“Y/N!” Natasha scolds.
“I’m sorry!” You quickly apologize. “It’s not like I did it on purpose!”
Natasha sighs. “Just be careful, please!”
“I will,” You promise.
“I’ll see you around, skater girl,” Natasha says with a smirk,
You smirk back at Natasha. “Yeah you will!”
You quickly get a running start before dropping your skateboard to the ground and hopping on it.
You skate around the setup that Tony had built. The only thing you avoid is the tallest ramp, not wanting to skate down it. You get a nice warmup in and before you know it, Tony is yelling at everyone.
“Everyone! Peter is on his way out right now! Hide behind the ramps and get ready!” Tony yells.
Everyone quickly ducks behind a few of the ramps. You smile when Natasha rushes over to the ramp that you’re ducked behind.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter calls out. “What are all these ramps doing out here?”
“Surprise!” You all jump out from behind the ramps.
“Woah!” Peter jumps back, smiling at everyone.
“Peter, I’d like to introduce you to someone,” Tony says, beckoning you with this head.
You quickly walk over to Tony and Peter.
“Oh my god! No way!” Peter shouts, looking at you. “You’re Y/N Y/L/N!”
“I am,” You say with a smile.
“I’m Peter Parker!” The young boy holds his hand out.
You take his hand and shake it. “It’s nice to meet you, Peter!”
Peter continues to shake your hand.
“Alright, Peter, you can let go of her hand now,” Natasha says from behind you.
“Right! Sorry!” Peter says, letting go of your hand.
“So, Peter, wanna do some skating?” You ask.
“Yes!” Peter swings his backpack off of his shoulders and sets it on the ground. He quickly unlatches the skateboard connected to his backpack and sets it on the ground. He pulls a helmet from inside his backpack and sets it on his head. He quickly connects the strap under his chin. “Ready!”
“Come on!” You say, turning around to grab your skateboard from where you left it.
Natasha smiles brightly at you when you glance over at her.
“Where’s your helmet, Ms. Y/N?” Peter asks.
“Please call me Y/N,” You say, picking your skateboard up. “Where are your elbow pads and your knee pads?”
“Touché!” Peter says.
You and Peter start skating around the ramps and railings.
“So, what got you into skateboarding?” You ask, skating next to Peter.
“You did, actually,” Peter says with a nervous laugh. “My friend, Ned, showed me a video of you skateboarding and I was absolutely amazed! As soon as I got home from school that day, I looked you up and watched a ton more videos!” Peter looks over at you. “I ended up buying a skateboard and learning how to ride it! I definitely can’t do all the amazing tricks you do though!”
“Well, maybe you can hang out with me at my skatepark sometime and I can teach you,” You suggest.
“Really?” Peter asks.
“Yeah, I don’t see why not,” You say with a smile.
“I would love that!” Peter says.
“So, it’s settled then!” You say.
---
You’re standing next to Natasha, watching as Tony sets the candles on Peter's birthday cake.
“Ready, Clint?” Tony asks, stepping back from the cake.
“Ready!” Clint shouts.
You turn your attention to the archer, who sets the tip of his arrow on fire.
“Three! Two! One!” Clint shouts, releasing the arrow on one.
You follow the arrow, watching as it barely hits the top of the candles.
“Yes!” Clint cheers.
You all quickly sing happy birthday to Peter, before Tony cuts the cake. You grab two pieces, grabbing one for you and one for Natasha.
“Here you go,” You say, handing Natasha the small plate.
“Thanks,” Natasha says, taking the plate from your hand.
You sit down next to Natasha, watching as the others chat amongst each other.
“Are you enjoying your time with Peter,” Natasha asks, forking a small piece of the cake into her mouth.
“Yes!” You exclaim. “He is an awesome kid! Honestly, I wish I knew him when I was in school!”
Natasha watches you as you start shoveling the cake into your mouth with the fork. “I don’t need to be worried about you and Peter, do I?”
You quickly move your eyes from your cake to Natasha. “Whu-” You ask, a few cake crumbs falling out of your mouth.
Natasha rolls her eyes at you.
You quickly chew your cake and swallow. “What?” You try again. “Peter is like half my age!” You exclaim.
“Babe, I’m joking,” Natasha says with a smirk.
You let out a sigh and slouch in your chair. “Geez, you almost made me choke on my cake!”
“I think you did that by scarfing it down!” Natasha says.
You roll your eyes and look back at your girlfriend.
“You have some frosting right there,” Natasha points at your face.
“Oh, here?” You ask, wiping the side of your face.
“No, there,” Natasha points again.
“Did I get it?” You ask, wiping your chin.
Natasha leans towards you and brings her thumb to the bottom of your lip. She brushes her thumb across it. “There you go, slob,” Natasha laughs, sitting back in her chair.
“I’m not a slob!” You exclaim.
“Y/N!”
You look up, seeing Peter wave you over.
“I’m being summoned,” You say, standing up.
You make your way to Peter, dropping your empty plate into one of the trash cans on the way over.
“What’s up, kid?” You ask. “Ready to do some more skating?”
“Before we do that, can I ask you for a favor?” Peter asks, fidgeting with his hands nervously.
“Sure, what’s up?” You ask.
“Can you sign the bottom of my skateboard?” Peter asks.
“Yeah, of course!”
“Really?” Peter asks, looking up at you.
“Yeah!”
“Awesome!” Peter picks his skateboard up and flips it upside down. He hands you a sharpie.
You accept the sharpie and take the cap off of it. You quickly scribble on the bottom of Peter’s skateboard. “There you go, Peter!” You say, putting the cap back onto the sharpie.
“Thanks!” Peter exclaims, quickly turning the words to face him so he can read what you wrote. “For the coolest person I know!” Peter looks back up at you. “Thank you!”
“Of course,” You say, smiling at Peter. “I’m gonna go show Mr. Stark!” Peter says, running off.
“So, are you getting ready to skate down that thing?” Clint steps next to you and points at the tall ramp.
You look up at the ramp. “Uh, whenever everyone is ready,” You say with a small nod.
“Can I try after you?” Clint asks.
You glance at the archer. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” You say, rubbing the back of your neck nervously.
“Eh, you’re probably right,” Clint says.
“Well, good luck,” Clint slaps you on the back before walking away.
“Thanks,” You mumble.
---
“It’s time!” Peter says, skating over to you.
“Time for what?” You ask, looking at Peter.
“The ramp of death!” Peter exaggerates. “Come on!” Peter exclaims, skating away.
“The ramp of death,” You repeat, looking back at Natasha. “How promising.”
“You can always not do it,” Natasha suggests. “If you’re still nervous.”
“It’s definitely too late to back out,” You say with a shrug. “I kind of want to send Clint down first,” You joke.
Natasha laughs. “You got this,” Natasha gently bumps your shoulder with hers.
“Thanks, babe,” You say with a smile.
You pick your skateboard up and make your way to the ramp.
“I’m so excited to see this!” Peter says. “Good luck!” Peter holds his hand up for a high-five.
You high-five Peter. “Thanks, kid,” You say.
You start climbing the stairs at the side of the ramp, making your way to the top. You finally make your way to the top and look down. You set your skateboard at the edge of the ramp, letting your left foot hold it in place.
“You got this,” You whisper to yourself.
You quickly place your right foot on the top of your skateboard and push down, dropping into the ramp.
You smile as you quickly skate down the ramp. Your smile falters when you feel yourself lose balance. You fall forward, kicking your skateboard backwards as you do. You fall onto the ramp hard. You feel your head make contact first, and then your shoulder, and then the rest of your body. You feel your skateboard slide into your leg.
You hear quick footsteps. “Babe, are you okay?” You feel a hand against your back.
You slowly lift your head trying your best to ignore the pounding. “I should’ve brought a helmet,” You say.
“You’re bleeding,” Natasha says, grabbing your face in her hands and rubbing her thumb across your forehead.
“Is she okay?” Peter asks from behind Natasha.
“I’m fine,” You say, waving your hand dismissively.
“Let’s sit you up,” Natasha says softly.
“Yeah,” You nod.
Natasha slowly helps you into a sitting position.
“That can’t be good,” Clint says, pointing at your collarbone.
You glance down, seeing your collarbone sticking out. “Fuck,” You groan.
“Maybe you should take Y/N to medical?” Steve suggests.
“I think that’s a good idea,” Natasha says. “Can you stand?”
“Yeah,” You say.
Natasha helps you stand up.
“Alright, let’s get you to medical,” Natasha says.
Natasha quickly leads you to the medical bay.
Once you and Natasha reach the medical bay, she sets you on the nearest hospital bed. Dr. Cho immediately rushes over.
“What happened?” Dr. Cho asks, sliding gloves onto her hands.
“She uh, she fell off of her skateboard,” Natasha says, keeping her eyes on you.
“I’m fine,” You say, look at Natasha. “I’m fine,” You repeat, looking at Dr. Cho.
“You don’t look fine,” Dr. Cho says, pressing her gloved hands gently on the cut on your forehead.
“Well, I am,” You say, wincing as Dr. Cho moves her hands to your collarbone.
“Yeah, you sure seem like it,” Dr. Cho says.
Dr. Cho gently feels around your collarbone. “You’re going to need surgery.”
“What?” Natasha asks.
“It’s minor,” Dr. Cho says. “I’ll go prepare for the surgery and I’ll be back to take you there,” Dr. Cho says before walking away.
Natasha sighs and sits down next to you. She sets her hand on your thigh. “This is why I tell you to wear your helmet.”
“A helmet wouldn’t have prevented a broken collarbone, babe,” You say.
“But it would’ve prevented your head from slamming against the ramp,” Natasha says.
“That’s true,” You say.
You feel your head starting to get heavy and you place it on Natasha’s shoulder. You move your hand to cover hers that’s on your thigh.
“Alright,” Dr. Cho says, coming back over. “I’ve got everything set up, let’s get you over there.”
You slowly stand up.
“I’ll see you soon, babe,” Natasha says, smiling at you.
You give Natasha a small smile before following Dr. Cho.
---
You slowly blink your eyes open.
The first thing you can feel is pain. The second thing you feel is a hand gently squeezing yours.
You turn your head to the side. Your eyes meet Natasha’s.
“Hey,” Natasha whispers.
“Hi,” You croak out.
Natasha hands you a cup of water and you quickly down it all.
“Thanks,” You say.
“How’re you feeling?” Natasha asks.
“I’m… in a lot of pain,” You admit.
“I’ll be right back,” Natasha stands from her seat. “I’ll go get Dr. Cho and see if she can get you some pain meds.”
Natasha quickly arrives back with Dr. Cho.
Dr. Cho. does a quick checkup. “So, I’ll give you something for the pain, it might make you a little loopy though.”
“I’ll take it, I want the pain to go away!” You exclaim.
Dr. Cho nods. She grabs a needle and shoots the pain medicine into your IV.
---
“So, this is your girlfriend?” Tony asks.
“Pick a card!” You exclaim, holding a deck of cards sloppily.
Wanda reaches forward and grabs a card.
“Now, don’t show me!” You say quickly.
You split the deck at a random spot and hold it open for Wanda. “Put your card in!”
Wanda slides her card into the deck. You slam the deck shut, placing the top half onto the bottom half.
“Is this your card?” You ask, pulling a random card from the deck and showing it to Wanda.
“No,” Wanda says, holding back a laugh.
“Oh huh,” You say, throwing the card onto the ground. “Is this your card?” You ask, pulling another random card from the deck and showing it to Wanda.
“No,” Wanda says, laughing.
“Damn,” You say.
“What was your card?” You ask.
“The three of hearts,” Wanda says.
You quickly search through the deck until you find the three of hearts. You show the card to Wanda. “Is this your card?”
Wanda rolls her eyes at you. “Yes, that’s my card.”
“Hell yeah!” You say.
“Yes, she’s my girlfriend,” Natasha says, watching as you sit on your hospital bed.
“She’s… impressive,” Steve says, watching as you throw the rest of the deck onto the floor.
“She’s more impressive when she’s not on pain medicine,” Natasha says.
---
“It’s more like this,” You say, before demonstrating the trick.
“Are you sure you should be skateboarding when your arm is still in a sling?” Peter asks, looking at you. “I mean, your collarbone is still broken.”
“Natasha will kill me if she finds out,” You say. “Which is why Natasha can’t find out!”
“Okay, su-”
“What can’t Natasha find out?”
You quickly whip around and cringe when you see Natasha.
“Hey, babe,” You chuckle nervously.
Natasha crosses her arms over her chest and she gives you a stern look.
“I’m in trouble,” You say.
“Big trouble,” Natasha confirms.

Warnings: None
Word Count: 3,020
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: The Avengers, your closest friends and teammates, always bugged you about your dating life. No matter what the situation was, they always managed to bring it up. They went too far and you decide to take matters into your own hands.
The Fake Engagement
You’re single. It’s simple. You;re alone. But you never feel alone because you have the most amazing friends you could ask for, and you all live together. Would you like to be in a committed relationship? Definitely, but you aren’t in a rush. And you kind of have a crush on Natasha, so like you said, you aren’t in a rush.
The Avengers always bug you about your dating life, and damn are they persistent.
---
It's seven in the morning when you walk into the kitchen. You’re so close to getting your pre-training coffee.
“Hey, Y/N!”
You look over at the kitchen table with your tired eyes. Steve is sitting with the newspaper placed between his hands. You always enjoy your quiet mornings with Steve.
You give Steve a small wave. “Morning, Steve,” You grumble, continuing your walk to the coffee pot.
One thing you loved about Steve is that he always had a pot of coffee brewed for you. You and Steve were the only two that woke up to do some training by yourselves before normal group training.
“Someone’s grumpy today,” Steve muses, taking a sip of his water.
You pour yourself a cup of coffee, filling the coffee to the brim. You bring the mug to your lips and smile as the hot coffee enters your mouth. You make your way over to the table and you sit across from Steve.
“I just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night,” You finally reply.
“What were you doing up so late last night?” Steve asks, his eyes scanning the newspaper.
“I was on my phone,” You say before taking another sip of your coffee.
“Ooh, were you swiping on dating apps?” Steve asks. “What is that one called? Tumble? Binder?”
You groan. “No, Steve. I was not swiping on Tinder or Bumble.”
“Hm, texting a significant other, then?”
“Steve, I’m not in a relationship and I’m not looking for one.”
“Maybe you should start looking,” Steve suggests.
“Nope, not interested!”
“Well, when are you going to start dating?” Steve asks.
“When was the last time you went on a date?” You ask, sipping at your coffee.
Steve looks over his newspaper and his eyes meet yours. “Touche.”
---
You and the Avengers are sitting in the living room. On the coffee table in the middle of the room is Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.
Tony grunts as he tries to lift Mjolnir with the help of his Iron suit. Tony lets go of Mjolnir’s handle. “Whatever,” Tony grumbles, his suit disappearing as he sits back down on the couch.
“Hah! Stark, you are not worthy!” Thor laughs at Tony’s failure.
You take a sip of your beer and watch as Thor picks Mjolnir up with ease. He gives it a quick spin before setting it back on the table. “Who’s next?” Thor asks, eyes scanning everyone.
“I volunteer Y/N!” Tony shouts.
You glare at Tony, “No, no way. I’m not embarrassing myself in front of you guys.” You shake your head, taking another sip of your beer.
“Hate to break it to you, but you do embarrass yourself in front of us,” Steve says.
“I do not!” You look at your friends and all of their faces say otherwise. “Fine, I don’t want to embarrass myself at this moment.”
“Come on, Y/N!” Tony says.
You sigh, “Fine.” You set your beer on the side table next to the couch and stand up. You step towards the coffee table. You wrap your hands around the handle of Mjolnir. You pull up, trying with all of your might to lift the damn hammer.
You give up, “Oh damn, who would’ve thought that I, Y/N Y/L/N, wouldn’t be able to lift Thor’s hammer.”
“Mjolnir,” Thor corrects you.
“Whatever,” You roll your eyes.
“You know, mortal, maybe your girlfriend would be impressed if you tried again,” Thor says.
You close your eyes and before you can even state that you don’t have a girlfriend, everyone starts pestering you and asking questions.
“You have a girlfriend?”
“Is she cute?”
“What does she do?”
“Why haven’t you told us about her?”
“Do you have any pictures you can show us?”
“How long have you been together?”
You glare at Thor and he smiles at you in return.
Everyone’s questions finally die down and everyone stares at you, waiting for you to answer their many questions.
“I don’t have a girlfriend,” You sit back down on the couch, grabbing your beer from the side table. You take a long sip of your beer.
“Still?” Bruce asks, his eyebrows raised.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” You look between your friends. “I don’t need a girlfriend. I’m happy where I’m at in my life!”
“Keep telling yourself that,” Clint says.
You take another sip of your beer. This is going to be a long night.
---
You step out of the Avengers tower, getting ready to go on your run. You start some simple stretches.
“Where are you going?”
You look behind you and see Wanda.
“I’m just going on a run,” You say, continuing your stretches.
“A run?” Wanda asks, tilting her head to the side.
You turn around and look at Wanda. “Yeah, a run. I’m going to run to the coffee shop, you know the one that’s three miles that way,” You point in the direction of the coffee shop. “And then I’m going to grab some coffee. Do you want something?”
“When you say you’re going on a run, is that just a codeword for going on a date?” Wanda asks.
You groan. “No! I’m legitimately going on a run!”
“You are?” Wanda asks. “Because you never go on runs.”
“Wanda I go on this same run every day!” You gesture down to your clothes, “I’m literally in gym clothes!”
“You could go on a date in that! It looks cute by the way.”
You squint at her. “Did Tony put you up to this? Was it Steve?”
“No one put me up to this. I just thought maybe you were going on a date,” Wanda shrugs. “You know, it wouldn’t hurt to get into a relationship.”
“Why are all of you pushing me to get into a relationship?” You ask, putting your hands on your hips.
“We want you to be happy!”
“I’m perfectly happy now! As a single woman!” You sigh. “I really appreciate that you’re all looking out for me, but I’ll start a relationship when I’m ready.”
Wanda nods, “If you ever want to talk to me about it, I’m here for you!”
You smile at Wanda, “Thanks, Wanda.”
You turn around and start your run.
---
“What about Danielle?” The voice comes through your earpiece.
You punch someone in the face, watching as they fall to the ground. You duck down as someone else throws a punch at you. You bring your foot around and kick them in the side.
They grab hold of your foot and you lean back, landing on your hands before bringing your other leg up and kicking them in the face. They let go of your leg and you bounce back onto your feet. You look down at the ground, admiring the quick work you made of these men.
“Really, Nat?” You ask.
“What?” Natasha asks. “Do you not like her?
“We’re in the middle of a mission,” You reply.
“Oh, oh! What about Meg?” Natasha ignores you.
“Can someone back me up here?” You ask. “Tell Nat to knock it off!”
“I don’t know Y/N, I’m with Nat on this one,” Clint’s voice comes through your earpiece.
“Of course you are! You always are!”
“I mean, have you seen Meg?” Clint asks.
“That’s what I’m saying!” Natasha says.
“There’s also Sara!” Tony joins in.
“Sara H or Sara O?” Natasha asks.
“Sara H!” Tony clarifies.
“She’s the one from accounting, right?” Steve asks.
“No, that’s Sara O!” Clint says.
“Sara H is part of the training team,” Tony says.
You roll your eyes as your teammates discuss potential girlfriends for you. You plug the flashdrive in your hand into the computer in front of you. You watch as data loads on the screen, the information moving from the computer and onto the small flashdrive.
“Are any of these girls catching your attention?” Natasha asks.
“The only thing that’s catching my attention at the moment is our mission,” You say. “You know, the job we’re currently doing.”
“Geesh, no need to be rude!” Clint says.
“Yeah, we’re only trying to help you, Y/N!” Tony says.
“Well, I don’t need your help!” You raise your voice. “I’m not looking for a girlfriend! I don’t know why you all can’t respect my decision and leave me the hell alone about it!”
Silence. That’s what you’re met with. You don’t like that they’re silent but you’re glad they all finally shut up about potential girlfriends.
“So, that’s a no to Sara H?” Tony asks.
---
You walk into the Avengers tower. It's very quiet, which is unusual. There’s always some sort of noise, but it's silent. You cautiously walk through the Avengers tower. You make your way to the living room. You stop when you see all of your friends sitting on the couch.
“Y/N! You’re finally here!” Tony says.
You raise your eyebrows at Tony. “Did we have a meeting?”
“No,” Tony says.
“We have a surprise for you,” Steve announces.
“A surprise?” You ask, squinting your eyes with suspicion
“Yes,” Tony says. “We’re going to go outside, and you’re going to head to the kitchen. And we’ll see you a bit later.”
“Okay?”
You watch as your friends get up and leave.
“That was odd,” You say to yourself.
You shake that awkward encounter off and head to the kitchen for your surprise.
You enter the kitchen and immediately regret your decision. The kitchen table is set up with a nice cooked meal, and sitting at the table is a girl.
You smile at the girl, “Hey.”
“Hi!”
You sit down at the table, sitting opposite of the girl. “Sara H, right?”
The girl nods. “Yes! I’m so happy that Tony set this date up for us,” Sara smiles at you.
“Sara, listen. I’m n-”
“I’ve actually been wanting to ask you out for a while. But I've been way too nervous.”
Well, there go my plans of turning her down.
“Yeah, me too,” You smile at her.
“So, are you ready to dig in? Because I’m starving!”
---
You arrive back at the Avengers tower, having just dropped Sara off at home. You slam the door closed behind you and throw your car keys into the basket by the door. You storm through the tower.
You find your friends in the living room, sitting on the couch. Just as they were before your date with Sara. You stand in the middle of the living room, arms crossed over your chest. If looks could kill, all of your friends would be dead.
“I could kill all of you right now,” You shout. “No, no. I should kill all of you right now!”
Tony opens his mouth, ready to defend himself.
“No, shut your damn mouth, Tony. I don’t want to fucking hear it.”
Tony shuts his mouth.
“I don’t know what you were all thinking.” You start to pace back and forth. “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you all to stay out of my dating life!” You run a hand through your hair. “I just told a girl that likes me that I like her. But I don’t! I don’t have feelings, and now you put me through an awkward situation where I have to tell her I don’t feel the same!”
“It was Tony’s idea!” Clint says.
“Hey!” Tony gets defensive. “I was the one who came up with the idea, but I didn’t hear anyone oppose my idea!”
“I did,” Natasha says.
“Okay, I didn’t hear anyone except for Natasha oppose my idea!” Tony corrects himself.
“Whatever,” You sigh. “This is fucking bullshit,” You mutter as you rush away, heading towards your room.
“I think we fucked up,” Tony says.
“No, I think you guys fucked up,” Natasha says.
---
You’re done with the Avengers getting involved in your dating life. That was four months ago, but you’re over it. Even with that situation, they still felt the need to be involved.
You posted an ad on craigslist, asking for someone to pose as your fake fiance. The story would be that you met two months ago and that you already felt like you wanted to spend the rest of your lives together.
The amount of responses you got on that ad was ridiculous. You searched through all of them nonetheless, looking for the perfect candidate.
You quickly messaged her, telling her your cover story. The two of you messaged back and forth.
Now all you need is a ring.
---
“So, which ring is calling out to you?” You ask.
Ashley, the woman posing as your fiance, looks at the different rings. She looks at you. “Are you sure you want to buy a real engagement ring? They’re pretty expensive.”
You give her hand a reassuring squeeze - she recommended holding hands to make it seem more natural when you did it in front of the Avengers. “Yes, it has to be real. Tony can spot a fake diamond from a mile away.”
“Okay,” Ashley nods, looking back at the arrangement of rings. “How about that one?” Ashley points to a fancy, yet simple ring.
You smile, “That’s perfect.”
---
“Okay, you ready?” You ask.
“I still need the ring,” Ashley says, wiggling her fingers.
“Right!” You pull the ring from your pocket. “Hold your hand out.”
Ashley holds her left hand out and you slide the ring onto her finger.
“Here we go,” You push the door to the Avengers tower open. “JARVIS, can you let everyone know that I would like all of them to meet in the living room?”
“Right away, Miss Y/L/N.”
As you lead Ashley to the living room, she grabs your hand, interlocking your fingers together.
When the two of you reach the living room, you see that all of the Avengers are already there waiting for you.
“Y/N, what’s this about?” Steve asks, looking at Ashley standing next to you.
“I’ve got exciting news!”
“We’ve got exciting news!” Ashley corrects you.
You look at her and smile. “Right, we’ve got exciting news!”
“Are you pregnant?” Tony asks.
“We’re engaged!” You exclaim.
Ashley holds her left hand up, showing her ring off to the Avengers.
“What?”
“Are you kidding?”
“Since when?”
“What is going on?”
“My girlfriend, sorry, excuse me. My fiancé, Ashley, and I will be getting married in September!” You announce.
“Wait, hold on,” Steve says. “How long have the two of you been together?”
“About two months,” Ashley responds.
“Two months and you’re already getting married?” Tony asks.
You nod. “We’re just so in love and we want to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“You’re joking, right?” Natasha asks.
“No.” You shake your head. “Are you guys not happy for me? You were always trying to get me to start dating.”
“And now you’re getting married!” Natasha says. “After dating for two months!”
“That is a little absurd,” Tony says.
“So, you guys aren’t happy for me?” You pout.
“It’s hard to be happy for you when I have feelings for you!” Natasha exclaims.
Silence fills the room. You stare at Natasha, your mouth slightly agape. Natasha’s eyes meet yours and she immediately leaves the room.
You take a deep breath. “This was a prank.”
“What?” Steve asks.
“You all kept butting into my dating life and I was so fucking sick of it! So I decided to prank you all.”
“Holy shit!” Tony laughs. “You bought a real ring for a prank?”
You look at Ashley, “Told you he would notice.”
Ashley chuckles.
“Let me take you home,” You say, looking at Ashley. You turn to your friends, “I’ll be back to deal with Nat.”
---
The ride back to Ashley’s place wasn’t as awkward as you thought. The two of you laughed and decided you two would keep in contact to hang out as friends. She gave you the ring back and you came back to the Avengers tower.
And now, you’re standing outside of the training room. You can hear the sound of a punching bag getting hit through the door.
You open the door and step into the training room. You watch as Natasha beats the shit out of a punching bag.
“Nat, can we talk?”
Natasha pauses her punches to look over her shoulder. She looks at you. “About what? Your engagement? No thanks.” She resumes her punches.
“Nat, I’m not getting engaged.”
“I don’t care about your engagement. And I don’t want to listen to you brag about it.” Natasha ignores you, continuing to punch the bag.
You walk over to Natasha, standing right next to her. You grab her arm to stop it from hitting the punching bag.
“Nat, listen,” Your E/C eyes meet her emerald eyes. “I’m not getting married.”
“What, did you call off the engagement already?” Natasha scoffs.
“The whole thing was a prank.”
“You pranked us with an engagement?” Natasha asks.
“I was sick of all of you trying to be a part of my dating life. I was sick of everyone trying to set me up. So, I decided to pull a little prank.”
Natasha nods. “Right.”
“I’m glad that it wasn’t a real engagement,” You say.
“And why’s that?” Natasha asks.
“Because, I wouldn’t have been able to do this.” You Natasha closer to you and connect your lips to hers.
You pull away from her.
“Yeah, that would’ve totally sucked if you were engaged.”

Wedding Date
A/N: Sorry this is late today! I didn’t get to finish it before I went to bed last night! My requests are open, so if you have one, send it through my ask box! THIS WASN’T EDITED/LOOKED OVER SO I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR ANY MISTAKES!!!
Here’s a link to my Masterlist!
Warnings: Drinking (Let me know if I need to add more!)
Word Count: 3,930
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: Summary: One of your friends is getting married and has invited you and a plus one - as you had told your friend you were dating someone. You beg Natasha to go as your plus one and act as your girlfriend.
Punch. Punch. Dodge. Punch. Dodge. Punch. Punch. Punch. Dodge.
“Hey, Y/N.”
You look over your shoulder, seeing Natasha. You grab the sides of the punching bag with both of your hands, stopping the bag from swaying back and forth.
“Hey,” You say with a smile.
“I just got the mail and this was in there for you,” Natasha holds out a fancy looking envelope. “It looks pretty fancy so I figured maybe you’d want to open it now?”
You raise your eyebrows at the glitter covered envelope. You unwrap your wristwraps and set them down on the bench next to you. You grab the envelope from Natasha’s outstretched hand.
You rip the envelope open and pull out a card. The card is also covered in glitter. Your eyes scan the card.
“Join Linda and Josh and celebrate their marriage! RSVP!” The card reads.
You turn the card over, reading the back.
“Y/N! I hope you can join Josh and I at our wedding! You’re invited to bring a plus one! Please bring your girlfriend! I want to meet her!” The back of the card reads.
“Shit,” You curse.
“What?” Natasha asks, eyeing you.
You look at Natasha. “Oh, uhm. It’s nothing.”
‘What is it?” Natasha asks, motioning to the card in your hands.
“It’s a-”
Natasha grabs the card from your hands, reading the front first. “Oh, a wedding invitation.” Natasha flips the card over to read the back. She quickly snaps her head up to look at you. “You have a girlfriend?” Her tone is kind of sad.
You sigh. “No, I uh-”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Natasha asks. “Does Tony know? Oh my god, Y/N, I swear if you told Tony before you told me I-”
“Nat,” You grab her shoulders and shake her gently. “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Then why does the wedding invitation say otherwise?” Natasha asks.
“Look, Linda kept getting on me about my dating life, so, I told her I had a girlfriend to get her off of my back,” You say.
“So, you’re going to show up to this wedding without a plus one?” Natasha asks. “After she specifically asked you to bring one?”
“It looks like it,” You say with a nod. “I could just say that we broke up,” You say with a shrug. You smile as an idea pops into your head. “Or,” You say, looking at Natasha. “You could come as my plus one and act like my girlfriend.”
“Nope, no way,” Natasha says instantly, handing the card back to you. “I do not do weddings.”
“Come on!” You say. “I wouldn’t ask if I didn't need your help!” You look at Natasha, pouting your lip out slightly.
Natasha looks at you. She sighs. “Fine, but you owe me.”
“What do I owe you?” You ask.
“I don’t know yet,” Natasha says. “But once I figure it out, you owe it to me.”
“Deal,” You say, smiling at Natasha.
---
“I would’ve said ‘no’ to this whole thing if I knew we were going to have to go to a bachelorette party,” Natasha says, standing in front of the mirror.
You look up, looking at Natasha through the mirror. “You can stay here tonight,” You say, pulling a leather jacket over your flannel. Linda informed you that the bachelorette party was going to be a casual thing - so you dressed in jeans, a flannel, a leather jacket, and vans. “I can just tell Linda you couldn’t fly out here until tomorrow,” You say, running your hands down the leather jacket, straightening it out. “I don’t want you to go if you don’t want to.”
Natasha turns around and looks at you. “But you said Linda specifically asked me to come to her bachelorette party.”
“She did,” You nod. “But if you’re uncomfortable going, you don’t have to come.”
“I’m just not a big party person,” Natasha says. “Even Tony’s parties are too much for me sometimes.”
“This isn’t going to be a huge thing,” You saw calmly. “It’s going to be a chill thing!”
Natasha raises her eyebrows at you. “You’ve never been to a bachelorette party, have you?”
“No,” You say with an innocent smile.
“I don’t think it’s going to be as chill as you think,” Natasha says.
“How bad could it be,” You say with a smile.
---
You and Natasha walk into the clubhouse that Linda rented out for the party. The clubhouse is decorated with balloons, streamers and much more.
You walk into the main room, where all of the other girls are already scattered around chatting and drinking.
“Y/N!” Linda exclaims, running over to you with open arms.
“Linda!” You exclaim back.
Linda wraps her arms around you, being careful as she’s holding a glass full of wine.
Linda pulls back and looks next to you. “Is this her?” Linda asks with a smile.
“Linda, this is Natasha,” You say with a big smile. “Natasha, this is Linda.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Linda says.
“Likewise,” Natasha says.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, Natasha,” Linda says. “All good things of course,” Linda says with a laugh, placing a hand on Natasha’s arm.
Natasha gives Linda a fake smile, laughing along with Linda.
“Well, help yourselves,” Linda says, gesturing to the tables of food. “There’s plenty of food and drinks,” Linda says. “We’ll be starting some games soon!” Linda walks away.
“At least try to act nice!” You say, bumping your shoulder with Natasha’s as the two of you walk over to the drink table.
“That was me acting nice,” Natasha says.
“For a spy,” You whisper. “You’re bad at acting nice.”
Natasha shrugs, “She seemed to buy it.”
“Maybe, try a little harder,” You say, grabbing two bottles of beer.
“Fine,” Natasha says, grabbing the beer bottle you’re holding out for her.
“Cheers,” You say, holding your bottle out towards Natasha.
“To fake dating” Natasha says quietly, clanking her bottle with yours.

“So, when did the two of you start dating?” One of the girls asks.
You’re all sitting on couches surrounding a coffee table.
“Two years.”
“Three years ago.”
You and Natasha say at the same time.
The two of you look at each other.
“Three years ago.”
“Two years ago.”
You and Natasha say at the same time, switching your answers.
“Technically, we started dating three years ago,” Natasha says. “We broke up after one year but got back together. So, technically, we’ve been dating for three years, but it could also be considered two,” Natasha says, quickly covering for your different answers.
“Awe, why did you two break up?” One of the other ladies asks.
“Jobs.”
“Conflict.”
You and Natasha say at the same time.
“Conflict with our jobs,” You say quickly. “Due to our completely different schedules, we never saw each other. So, we decided to call it quits.”
“But, a year later, we talked about it and worked it out,” Natasha says, grabbing your hand and interlocking your fingers.
“You two are just the cutest!” Linda says. “I think it’s time to start a game! So, everyone, refill your drinks and we’ll get started!”
Everyone gets up from the couches and moves to the tables, except you and Natasha.
“We should have come up with a story before we came,” You whisper, looking at yours and Natasha’s interlocked fingers.
“Probably,” Natasha agrees. “We managed for now. Tonight when we get back to the hotel, we can flesh out a story just in case anyone else asks questions at the wedding.”
“That sounds like a plan,” You say, standing up and letting your hand slide out of Natasha’s. “Do you want another drink?”
“I’ll take a water, please,” Natasha says with a smile.
“Got it,” You say, walking to the drink table.
“So, how did you two meet?” One of the ladies asks once you reach the drink tables.
“We met at work,” You say, grabbing a bottle of water. And that was the truth, you really did meet Natasha at work.
“Please tell me you’re drinking something stronger than that!” Another lady joins the conversation.
“I am, yes,” You say. “This is for Nat.”
“Didn’t you say you broke up because of work conflicts?” The original lady asks.
“Yeah,” You say. “We work for the same company, we just had complete opposite hours back then. Plus, she was a higher rank than me.”
---
“Again, Agent Y/L/N.”
You pull yourself off of the mat below you and get to your feet. You put your fists up in front of your face. You feel dazed, that last punch to your face taking a toll on you. You lazily look at the redhead in front of you.
You lightly bounce back and forth on your feet, moving slower than you were before. You land on your front foot and swing your arm forward. You aim your punch for the redhead’s face.
The redhead quickly dodges your punch.
“That was sloppy,” The redhead says.
The redhead reaches forward and grabs your shoulder. She pulls you forward and moves behind you, moving quickly. She brings her foot up and kicks you in the back, sending you stumbling forward.
You quickly regain your footing and turn around, facing the redhead yet again. Before you can bring your fists back up to cover your face, a fist hits your cheek hard, knocking you back down onto the mat. Your face slams into the mat as the punch was so hard, it made you spin around before you slammed into the mat. Your impact on the mat hurts, you fall really hard.
You press your hands to the mat, and attempt to push yourself back up. Your hands immediately slip and you fall back to the mat.
“Alright, that’s it for today,” The redhead says. “Cadets, you’re dismissed.”
You hear the scatter of footsteps as your fellow cadets leave the training room.
A hand softly lands on your back. “You okay?”
You groan in pain and peel your face off of the mat. You look to your left, seeing Natasha. Her emerald eyes scan your face.
“Come on, let me help you up,” Natasha says, removing her hand from your back, and holding it out for you.
You slowly reach for Natasha’s hand. She swiftly pulls you to your feet. You wince at the pain that surges through your body.
“You okay?” Natasha asks, running her hands down your arms.
“Other than you kicking my ass, I’m perfectly fine.”
Natasha smirks. “Aren’t you glad we’re friends?”
You smile at Natasha. “Of course! Except for when you kick my ass.”
“I’m helping you get better at fighting, so one day, you can be an Agent!” Natasha says.
“I know, I know!” You say. “And I appreciate it.”
Natasha smiles at you. She pulls her long sleeve over her hand and gently drags it under your nose, wiping away your blood.
“Thanks,” You whisper.
“You’re welcome,” Natasha whispers back. “Now, Cadet Y/L/N, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to be late for mealtime, so I suggest you start moving your feet!”
“Yes, ma’am,” You say, saluting your superior.
You turn around and start making your way out of the training room. You look over your shoulder at Natasha. “I’ll see you there.”
---
“How long ago was that?” One of the ladies asks.
“Five years ago,” You answer truthfully.
“Any plans on proposing to her soon?” Linda butts into the conversation.
You shake your head quickly. “No, not yet,” You say nervously, looking over your shoulder at Natasha.
Natasha smiles at you and you quickly return the smile.
“You’re in love with her,” One of the ladies points out.
You look back at the ladies, reaching for a bottle of beer.
“I can tell just by the way you look at her.”
“I mean… I … in love? I don’t know,” You stutter out. “I mean I love her for sure.”
“You’re totally in love with her,” One of the ladies says, nudging you slightly.
You scratch the back of your neck nervously. “I-”
“Are you ladies ready?” Linda asks.
You all make your way back to the couches. You sit down next to Natasha, handing her the bottle of water you grabbed for her.
“Alright ladies, who’s ready for a game of dare or drink?”
---
“And that’s when she told me she loved me for the first time!” You exclaim, giggling with the other ladies.
“I think it’s time to get you back to the hotel,” Natasha says, grabbing the beer bottle from your hand and setting it on the coffee table.
“But Naaaaaaat!” You whine. “I’m having a good time!”
“I can see that,” Natasha says with a small smile. “But you’re drunk.”
“That’s fine, Y/N,” Linda says. “We were just about to wrap up anyways.:
You stand up from the couch and sway. Natasha immediately stands up and wraps her arm around your waist to keep you steady. “I got you,” Natasha says.
Natasha starts leading you out of the clubhouse. “See you all tomorrow at the wedding!” You slur with a sloppy wave goodbye.
Natasha helps you into the passenger’s seat of the rental car the two of you rented for the trip. She quickly makes her way around to the driver’s side and gets in.
You slump against the door, your head smacking against the window.
“Put your seatbelt on, please,” Natasha says.
You lazily reach for the seatbelt, but your hand quickly falls into your lap. “I’m tired.”
Natasha rolls her eyes at you. “Do I have to do everything for you when you’re drunk?”
Natasha reaches over the center console and reaches for your seatbelt. She pulls it across your body and clicks it into place.
Natasha retracts back to her side of the car and clicks her own seatbelt into place. You reach across the console and grab at her hand. You interlock your fingers with her.
Natasha looks down at your interlocked fingers. She smiles. “Alright, sleepy, let’s get you to the hotel.”
---
“Can you please work with me here?” Natasha asks, trying to get you up off of the parking lot.
When she opened the passenger’s side door, you were still leaning up against it and had fallen out and onto the pavement.
Natasha grabs your arm and slings it around her shoulders. She wraps her arm around your waist and slowly stands up.
Once she gets you to your feet, you immediately lean against her for support, your head falling to her shoulder.
Once she finally helps you back to the hotel room, she sets you onto the bed you claimed earlier that day. You instantly fall back, laying down on the bed.
“Damn, babe, it’s a whole chore to be your girlfriend,” Natasha jokes, sliding your shoes off of your feet.
“I hate chores,” You slur.
Natasha chuckles. “So do I, yet here I am dealing with you!”
Natasha sits you up enough to remove your leather jacket and your flannel, leaving you in your white undershirt and jeans. She looks down at you as you close your eyes. Natasha smiles down at you and brushes your hair out of your face.
“I love you,” You slur, cracking your eyes open to look at her.
“Get some sleep,” Natasha says, removing her hand from your forehead. “We have a big day tomorrow.”
---
You step onto the beach with Natasha, your fingers interlocked with hers.
“Have the pain meds kicked in yet” Natasha asks.
“No,” You say, wincing lightly at the pounding of your head. “This is going to be a long wedding.”
“I hope it kicks in soon,” Natasha says, lightly squeezing your hand.
“Thanks,” You say, squeezing Natahsa’s hand back. “I’m never drinking again,” You say, shaking your head.
“You say that now, but what about the reception after the wedding?” Natasha asks.
“Don’t let me drink, please,” You beg.
“I can do that,” Natash says with a nod. “But are you sure?”
“Yes!” You say.
You and Natasha find your seats and sit down. You and Natasha keep your fingers interlocked between you.
“When is our wedding, babe?” Natasha jokes.
You roll your eyes at your fake girlfriend. “I was thinking about today,” You say. “Is now a good time?”
Natasha chuckles. “What? You’re not even going to propose first?”
“Beggars can’t be choosers!” You say with a smile.
---
You walk up to the bar and reach for one of the margaritas. A hand slaps yours.
“Ouch!” You say, retracting your hand from the glass.
“You told me to make sure you don’t drink,” Natasha says from beside you.
“I’m starting to regret that,” You say.
“Can I get a water please?” Natasha asks the bartender.
The bartender nods and moves quickly to retrieve the water. He slides it across the bartop to Natasha, who then slides it in front of you.
“Thanks,” You say, begrudgingly taking a sip of the water.
Natasha reaches across the bar, grabbing one of the margaritas.
“Hey!” You say, slapping her arm lightly.
“What?” Natasha takes a sip and smirks at you. “I didn’t say no alcohol for me!”
You narrow your eyes at Natasha. “I’ve been betrayed! And by my very own girlfriend!”
Natasha rolls her eyes at you. “I have not betrayed you, if anything you betrayed yourself by saying no alcohol.”
“Just a sip!” You beg, eyeing Natasha’s margarita.
“Nope!” Natasha says. “You said no alcohol, and I’m going to make sure that happens!”
“Fine!” You pout, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Alrighty everyone,” The DJ announces. “It is now time for the husband and wife to have their dance! So, let’s go ahead and clear the dance floor for them!”
---
Later in the night, you and Natasha are sitting at one of the tables, chatting with another couple.
“I can only hope this one proposes to me soon,” Natasha says, nudging your shoulder with hers.
“Oh, trust me, I am in the same boat!” The woman sitting across from you says, slapping her boyfriend on the shoulder.
“Hey,” A set of hands rests on your shoulders. “Mind if I steal Y/N away for a moment?” Linda asks, looking at Natasha.
“Sure,” Natasha says with a smile.
You can instantly tell Natasha’s smile is fake and that she doesn’t want you to leave.
“I’ll be right back, babe,” You say.
“I’ll be here,” Natasha says, leaning over and kissing you on the cheek.
You think your heart stops when her lips touch your cheek.
You stand up out of the chair and follow Linda as she leads you outside. She leads you to a bench not too far from the building, but far enough away that you two aren’t in view.
“Isn’t it pretty,” Linda asks, pointing to the sun that’s setting right over the ocean.
“It is,” You say in agreement.
“Y/N?” Linda asks.
You turn to look at Linda. “Ye-”
Linda cuts you off, connecting her lips to yours.
You immediately connect your hands to Linda’s shoulders and shove her. You quickly get to your feet.
“What the fuck!” You shout.
“Shit,” Linda curses. “I thought I was getting signals from you!”
“Signals?” You ask, throwing your arms out to the side. “I have a fucking girlfriend!”
“You two don’t seem that serious!” Linda says.
“I love Natasha!” You say. “She is the love of my life! I.. I have loved her since the moment I met her! I plan on marrying her one day!” You take a deep breath. “Natasha… she, she keeps me going. I love Natasha so much. Her green eyes, god I can get lost in them forever! Natasha is the love of my life, so, so fuck you for kissing me!” Your breaths come heavy. “And you just got married! So, fuck you for cheating on your husband already!” You turn around and start walking.
You walk towards the sand, needing to get as far away from Linda as possible. Once you’ve deemed yourself far enough, you plop down on the sand. You look out towards the ocean. You take your shoes off and place them next to you. You scootch a little closer to the water so the water flows over your feet.
“So, you’re just going to ditch your girlfriend?”
Natasha plops down next to you. She copies you, taking her shoes off and allowing the water to flow over her feet.
“I saw what happened,” Natasha says, reaching and grabbing your hand and interlocking her fingers with yours.
“What?” You ask, turning to look at her.
“I had a bad feeling,” Natasha says. “So, I followed the two of you, but I kept my distance and hid behind a trash can.”
“Oh,” You say.
“My first thought was ‘wow, I can’t believe my girlfriend is cheating on me’” Natasha says with a smile.
You chuckle.
“But then, I was like ‘well, she’s my fake girlfriend so it’s okay’” Natasha says.
Your heart sinks at Natasha’s words.
“And then I saw you go off,” Natasha says. “And when you spilled your heart out to Linda about me,” Natasha pauses. “I think you were telling the truth.”
Your heart stops. You swallow.
“You sounded so… genuine,” Natasha says.
“I.. uhm,” You pause, looking down at your and Natasha’s hands. “When I told Linda about my ‘girlfriend’,” You bite your lip nervously. “I described you.” You look up and watch Natasha’s face carefully. “She just started asking so many questions and you were the first person that I thought of an-”
“Y/N,” Natasha interrupts, squeezing your hand. “You remember how I said you would owe me if I pretended to be your girlfriend?”
“Yeah,” You nod.
“Kiss me,” Natasha says.
“W..What?” You ask, feeling your heart beat faster.
“Kiss. Me.” Natasha says slower, moving her face closer to yours.
You smirk and lean in, pressing your lips to Natasha’s. The kiss is slow and passionate. You pull back slowly and Natasha smirks at you.
“I-” You find yourself at a loss for words.
“That good of a kiss, huh?” Natasha asks, her smirk growing wider.
“Uh, yeah,” You say with a nod. “It really was.”
“So, how about we stop with the fake dating,” Natasha suggests. “And maybe date for real?”
“Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?” You ask with a smile.
“Yes,” Natasha says. “Will you be my girlfriend?”
“Yes!” You say.
You hear a slow song coming from the building where the reception is happening. You stand up, brushing the sand off of your pants. You hold your hand out for Natasha. “May I have this dance?”
Natasha grabs your hand and you pull her to her feet. “Yes,” Natasha says.
Natasha puts her hands on your waist and you put your hands on her shoulders. The two of you start to sway back and forth.
“I love you too,” Natasha says.
You smile at your real girlfriend. “I-”
Before you can even get one word out, you find yourself under water. You emerge from under the water, gasping for air.
You look to where Natasha is still standing on the sand, a big smirk across her lips.
You quickly get out of the ocean. Natasha turns around and starts to run.
“That’s right! You better run!” You say, running after her.
You quickly catch up to her and jump onto her back.
The two of you giggle. You kiss Natasha on the cheek.
Never did you think Natasha being your fake girlfriend would result in her being your actual girlfriend.

Summary:  Steve sends you on a three month mission, but it gets extended to six months due to complications. While you’re away, Natasha realizes her feelings for you have gone beyond friendship. When you finally arrive back from your mission, Natasha can’t contain her feelings for you anymore.
The Mission, The Return and Confessed Feelings
Your mission was only supposed to last three months, that’s what Steve told you anyway.
---
“It’s a three month mission. We’re sending you to Russia to do some recon and get some data from the Hydra base there,” Steve flashes you a flashdrive and tosses it to you.
You catch the flashdrive, closing your hand around it.
“After that, you’ll come back and we’ll use that information to take Hydra down.”
“I should go with,” Natasha pipes up.
You turn around, seeing Natasha standing in the doorway to the conference room.
“Na-”
“I would be helpful,” Natasha cuts Steve off. She crosses her arms over her chest and steps into the room. “I know a little about Russia actually. It’s like I might be from Russia. Oh wait, I am.
“Natasha, this is a simple mission. We need you here just in case,” Steve says.
“What if Y/N needs help? What if something happens and she needs backup?”
“Y/N can handle herself,” Steve says. “Right Y/N?”
You look at Natasha and nod your head to Steve’s question. “I’ll be fine.” You give Natasha a smile. “I’m tough.”
Natasha returns a small smile. “I know you are. I’m just worried that you’re going by yourself.”
“Are you sure you aren’t just going to miss your best friend for three months?” You tease the redhead.
Natasha rolls her eyes at you. “You wish that’s what it was.” Natasha turns to Steve. “Someone should go with her!”
You walk over to Natasha and place a hand on her arm. “I’ll be fine, Nat!”
Natasha sighs. “I know you will be.”
“I’ll be back before you know it!”
---
Natasha has been counting down the days of your return. When you had the time, you video called, talked on the phone or texted her. You talked about your mission and how boring recon was. You also talked about the cold weather in Russia, which you absolutely despised.
Natasha would just listen to your stories, you could’ve talked about what you ate for breakfast and Natasha wouldn’t have cared. She just wanted to hear your voice.
Natasha found herself wearing one of your sweatshirts, missing you a little extra that day.
“Isn’t that Y/N’s sweatshirt?” Tony had asked.
“All of mine are dirty, I need to do my laundry,” Natasha had lied.
Natasha was getting ready for bed, rolling over to finally fall asleep when her phone buzzed and lit up her dark room.
Natasha quickly rolls back over and grabs her phone from the bedside table. She smiles when she sees your name pop up.
Y/N: Goodmorning! Or.. goodnight? Good evening? Good day? Either way, hey :)
Natasha: Hey, what’re you doing up so early?
Y/N: I got a tip last night about a person I’m doing some recon on. Unfortunately, they’re going to be at a certain place in about an hour.
Y/N: And I figured you would be going to sleep soon, so I just wanted to say hi.
Y/N: Especially because I have a very busy day and won’t be able to talk much.
Natasha: Well, be careful, okay?
Y/N: I always am, Nat
Natasha: I know, I know. I just worry about you being alone over there.
Y/N: I’ll be back in two more months! God, I fucking miss you :(
Natasha: I miss you too, Y/N. But as you said, two more months.
Y/N: Well, I gotta get going - I’m in dire need of coffee before I have to drive to my recon location. I’ll talk to you soon, okay?
Natasha: Talk to you soon.
Natasha sets her phone back on the bedside table. She lays flat on her back, staring up at the ceiling in her room. She has a weird feeling in her stomach, but like a good weird. She smiles and falls asleep thinking about you.
---
“Hey! Can you hear me?”
“No, I can’t. Can you repeat that?”
“I said, can yo-” You pause. “Wait a minute!”
Natasha laughs at you. “I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch that last part.”
“You almost got me!” You smile.
“Almost?” Natasha asks, her eyebrow raised. “I definitely got you!”
“Whatever,” You roll your eyes. “You know, I actually think I have to go!” You hover your mouse over the red button to end the call.
“No! I’m sorry! Don’t go!”
You smile at Natasha. “I would never.” You place your head in your hands as your elbows rest against the hotel bed. “How have you been?”
“Fine. It’s been the same over here. Nothing new.” Natasha shrugs. “You still holding up over there?”
“It’s still fucking cold as hell over here,” You say, pulling a blanket over you.
“Hell is actually hot,” Natasha points out.
“You would know, wouldn’t you?” You tease.
Natasha rolls her eyes. “Other than the cold weather, how are you?”
“Busy,” You say. “Oh, by the way, I’m sorry I haven’t been responding to your texts recently. It’s actually been pretty hectic over here.”
“You don’t need to worry about responding to my texts, I’m not hurt over it,” Natasha says. “I know you’re busy. Steve says you haven’t even been checking in with him.”
You nod, “That’s how busy I am.”
“You’re okay though, right? You’re not injured or anything?”
“Nat, relax. I’m fine!” You reassure your best friend.
Natasha nods, “Good.”
“Wait,” You move your face closer to the screen, trying to get a better look at Natasha on your screen. “Is that my sweatshirt?”
Natasha looks down, noticing the sweatshirt. “All of mine are dirty,” Natasha quickly defends herself. “I figured you wouldn’t mind because-”
“Nat.” You cut her off, laughing. “I think it looks cute on you.” You watch as she tugs on one of the strings. “You know, I happened to steal one of yours before I left for the mission.”
“You did not!” Natasha says.
You hold a finger up, “Hold on!” You quickly get up and grab the sweatshirt from your suitcase. You return to the bed and lay back down. You show Natasha her sweatshirt you stole from her.
“That’s my favorite one!” Natasha exclaims. “I’ve been looking for it!”
You smile. “Look no further! I have it!” You pull the sweatshirt over your torso.
Natasha laughs. “You little thief.”
“I think it actually grew legs and packed itself into my suitcase,” You shrug.
“I’m sure that’s what happened,” Natasha rolls her eyes.
You and Natasha find yourselves talking the rest of the night - well, afternoon for Natasha.
---
“Steve, can I ask you a question?” Natasha asks.
Steve glances over the top of his newspaper to look at Natasha. “You just did.” He glances back down. A few seconds go by and Steve glances over his newspaper again, seeing Natasha standing in the same spot, staring at him.
Steve folds his newspaper back up and sets it on the floor by his feet. He taps the spot on the couch next to him. “Why don’t you come sit?”
Natasha is hesitant, but she moves across the living room to sit on the couch beside Steve.
“What’s your question?” Steve asks, leaning back into the couch and giving Natasha his full attention.
“Why did you send Y/N on the mission by herself?” Natasha asks.
“I figured Y/N could’ve used some time away from all of us,” Steve shrugs. “But also, because she hasn’t been on a solo mission yet, and she’s been begging me for so long.”
Natasha nods slowly. “So, you sent her to Russia for her first solo mission?”
“It’s a mission that needs to get done, Nat.” Steve sighs. There’s a pause “Is there something else you wanted to talk to me about? Because I feel like the-”
“I like Y/N.”
Natasha says it so fast, she doesn’t register that she said it.
Steve nods, “Yeah, you two are best friends. I figured you would like her.”
Natasha shakes her head. “No, Steve.” Natasha looks at Steve.
“Oh!” Steve finally realizes what Natasha is saying. “Oh,” Steve says again.
“Since Y/N has been gone, I’ve just… missed her so much,” Natasha admits. “We text, and video call, and talk on the phone. And, I think…” Natasha trails off, a small smile on her lips as she thinks about the communication you two have had since you’ve been gone.
“Y/N will be home before you know it,” Steve says. “She’s halfway through her mission.”
“That’s still an entire month and a half,” Natasha says.
“It’ll fly by!” Steve says.
Natasha stands up to leave. She turns to look at Steve. “This conversation,” She motions to Steve and then herself. “Stays between us.”
“Of course,” Steve smiles at Natasha.
---
Natasha hasn’t heard from you in an entire week. She’s sent you tons of texts and even called you a few times, but she’s gotten nothing in return. That is very unlike you, even with how busy you got with the mission, you were usually able to send Natasha a quick text to let her know you were busy.
Natasha finds Steve in the conference room. He’s sitting in his chair, flipping through some files. A laptop sits next to the physical files.
“Please tell me you’ve heard from Y/N.”
Steve looks up and sighs. “Na-”
“Tell. Me. You’ve. Heard. From. Her.” Natasha is not in the mood to play games.
Steve shakes his head. “It’s been a week.”
“Let me go,” Natasha says. “Let me go look for her.”
“I can’t,” Steve says. “We don’t know Hydra’s plans yet.”
“Exactly!” Natasha exclaims. “We need to go get Y/N before they run some crazy tests on her!”
“We don’t even know if she’s in danger,” Steve says. “She could be very busy. Maybe she’s made friends!”
“If you’re wrong about this, Steve…” Natasha trails off.
Steve nods. “I know, but we have to believe that she’s okay.”
---
Natasha is standing outside, waiting for the quinjet. The quinjet that has you in it. Natasha still hasn’t heard from you, but today is your return day and she has hope you’re going to be returning.
Natasha stands outside for the entire day, only stepping back inside to eat or use the restroom.
It’s late at night - its pitch black out, the only light coming from the stars. Natasha is still standing outside, waiting for your quinjet.
“Leave me alone, Steve.”
“Nata-”
“You told me to look on the bright side, told me to believe she would be okay,” Natasha says. “She was supposed to come back today. If she was okay, she’d be back here by now.”
Steve steps up next to Natasha, handing her an Ipad. “She’s fine. Tony did a search, and spotted Y/N in some camera footage.”
Natasha looks down at the Ipad. Sure enough, there you are. Even with the shitty security camera quality, Natasha can tell you’ve been injured. Natasha hands the Ipad back to Steve.
“When is she coming back?” Natasha asks.
“I’m not sure, we still haven’t heard anything from her,” Steve says.
Natasha looks up at the sky, bright stars littering the dark sky. “Let me know when you find out.”
Steve nods, “Of course, Natasha. Will you let me know if she gets in contact with you?”
“Yeah.”
“You should get some rest,” Steve says.
---
Natasha’s phone goes off and she sees your name pop up, requesting to video chat. Natasha is sure she’s never answered a call so fast in her life. As soon as the video loads and Natasha sees your face, your name spills from her lips.
“Y/N! Oh my god.”
“Hey, Nat.”
Natasha takes you in. Her eyes scan your face, seeing the multiple cuts and bruises.
“What the hell happened out there?” Natasha asks.
“Hydra, they… they found out about me. Someone tipped them off about me. Must’ve been someone that has seen me around.” You shake your head. “Hydra captured me-
---
You’re sitting in your car, a hot coffee in your hand. You look out of the passenger window, watching a few people interact on a doorstep.
You take a sip from your coffee when the driver’s side window is smashed. You quickly avert your attention to whoever just broke your window. You notice a few people and recognize a few of them - you’ve been doing recon on these people.
One of them slams their hand against your coffee, spilling it all over you.
“I wasn’t done with that, asshole,” You say, ignoring the way the coffee burns you.
You kick the door open and it slams into the man who spilled your coffee. You step out of the car, grabbing your pistol from your holster.
As you point it up, aiming it between the few Hydra members that we’re at your car, you notice a lot more Hydra members surrounding you. They all point a gun at you.
You tilt your head to the side. “Alright, I’m going to give you all one last chance before I have to take you all out.” You look between all of them. “Alright, your ch-”
You’re hit in the head with something hard and you fall to the ground. You try to stand up, but you’re very dizzy, so any attempt puts you back on the ground.
“The boss will be happy to finally meet you,” Someone says. They grab you by your legs and start dragging you.
---
“Well... I’m safe now. I’m at a new hotel.”
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Natasha breathes out. “I was so fucking worried.” Natasha smiles at you. “So, when are you coming back?”
You sigh. “Nat, I’m finishing the mission.”
“WHAT?”
You close your eyes. “Steve’s orders.”
“I’m going to kill that man!” Natasha’s voice is laced with anger.
“Nat, listen,” You say. “He said I didn’t have to if I didn’t want to. But I wasn’t just going to give up on a mission.”
“Y/N, Hydra captured you! If that happens again, it isn’t likely that you’ll escape again!”
“I know. But It’s our job, it’s what we do.” You run your hands down your face. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
Natasha scoffs. “You said that last time. And then you got captured.”
You sigh. “I know, I know. Nat, I promise I will be careful and that I’ll be back soon.
“You better keep that promise,” Natasha says.
“I will,” You nod.
---
Natasha is walking to the kitchen when she passes Steve.
“Morning, Natasha,” Steve greets.
Natasha gives an acknowledging nod, “Morning.”
Natasha stops in her tracks and does a double take. She turns around and looks at Steve. “Hey, Rogers.”
Steve stops and slowly turns around, waiting for Natasha to continue.
“Why are you wearing your suit?”
Steve looks down at his suit and then back up at Natasha. “Oh, uhm. I’m going on a mission.”
“Oh, nice,” Natasha crosses her arms over her chest. “Can I ask where you’re going?”
Steve nods, “Of course you can ask.”
A silence fills the room for a few seconds.
Natasha rolls her eyes. “Where are you going?”
Steve’s eyes meet Natasha’s. “Russia.”
“Let me come!” Natasha says.
“No.” Steve shakes his head.
“You’re going to help, aren’t you? Let me help!”
“Natasha, I need you to stay here,” Steve says.
“Steve, I’m begging you, please let me come.”
“I’ll bring her back in one piece,” Steve says, turning and walking away.
---
Six months. Half a year. That’s how long it’s been since Natasha saw you. In her opinion, it’s been way too long. So, when Natasha sees you limping into the Avengers tower behind Steve, she freezes.
The moment your E/C eyes meet her green eyes, she rushes over to you, ignoring whatever Steve was saying about your mission. She embraces you in a very tight hug.
You immediately wince. You return the hug as best as possible before tapping her on the shoulder. “Nat, ow.”
Natasha pulls back, keeping her hands on your shoulders. Her eyes scan your body for injuries.
“Four broken ribs, the split lip, and this beauty,” You joke as you point to your black eye.
“Told you I’d bring her back in one piece,” Steve says from behind Natasha.
“Y/N,” Natasha says with a slight shake of her head. “I.. I can’t even believe you’re here right now.”
You put your hands on  top of Natasha’s. “Well, believe it,” You smile.
“Y/N, I love you,” Natasha says. “While you were in Russia, you were all that I thought about. I stole your sweatshirt because it smelled like you and I missed you. Anytime you called or texted I always got excited and I always answered no matter what I was doing or what time it was here. And I realized, it’s because I love you.” Natasha takes a deep breath.
You look at Natasha, just staring at her. Silence fills the room.
“I’m uhm, going to uh go now,” Steve says, quickly leaving the room.
“No.”
“What?” Natasha asks, her voice quiet.
You shake your head, “No.”
Natasha’s hands slip off of your shoulders and her arms fall to her side. “I mean, I do love you. You’re my best friend, best friends love each other in a friendly, totally platonic way. And that’s what I meant. I’m not like in love with you or anything like that, if that’s what you thought I meant. But again, totally love you but only in a plat-”
“I fucking wanted to say those words to you first, you son of a bitch!” You joke, shoving Natasha’s shoulder lightly.
“What… what words?” Natasha asks.
You roll your eyes at the redhead. “For someone so smart, you’re so dumb!” You grab her hands and hold them in yours. “I love you. I wanted to tell you. I just wanted to do it in person, not over a phone call or video chat. And definitely not over text, not for the first time. But, if you only love me in a platonic way...” You start pulling your hands from Natasha’s.
Natasha stops you before you can remove your hands from yours and she pulls you into her. She presses her lips to yours.
It takes you a second to realize what’s happening, but as soon as you do, you lean into the kiss.
Natasha pulls away from you, a big smile on her lips. You replicate her smile.
“Come on, let’s go to bed,” Natasha says. “I’m tired.”
“I’m not! I’m still in Russia time! I’d be getting up soon!”
“Well, come lay with me then.”
You nod, “I can do that.”
You and Natasha start walking, hand in hand.
“Can I have my sweatshirt back by the way?” Natasha asks. “That’s my favorite one!”
“You know, I took your sweatshirt because I knew I was going to miss you and it smelled like you.”
“Well, can I have it back or not?” Natasha jokes.
“Sure, Nat. You can have your sweatshirt back,” You smile at her.

My Knight In Shining Armor
A/N: This is getting posted while I’m on a flight home, but here’s a little drabble I wrote before falling asleep last night :) This hasn’t been edited/looked over, so I apologize for any mistakes!
Here’s a link to my Masterlist! Here’s a link to my Taglist!
Warnings: Violence, panic attack (let me know if I need to add any!!!)
Word Count: 805
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: You have a nightmare and Natasha is there to comfort you. (A few lines are from this prompt list!)
You grit your teeth when another needle is stabbed into your neck. You groan as you feel the liquid from the syringe flow into the vein in your neck. You thrash around, trying to free yourself of the metal restraints around your wrists, ankles, and forehead, but it’s no use.
“You know there’s no point in fighting it, Y/N.”
A man steps into view and you glare at him. He’s the one running all the tests. You’ve never caught his name before, but you know he’s the one turning you into what they want to be a loyal killing machine.
“Fuck you!” You say through gritted teeth as a needle is stabbed into a vein on your arm.
“Oh Y/N, are you in pain,” The man says condescendingly adding a fake pout. “Don’t worry, soon enough all the pain will be over, matter of fact, you won’t feel anything. You won’t have feelings and you’re pain tolerance will be a lot higher, so yeah you won’t really feel much.”
“Once I’m out of these restraints, you’re fucking dead!” You shout. “You hear me? You’re a dead man!”
The man laughs sarcastically. “Let’s get another injection going!”
Almost immediately another needle is stabbed into another vein in your arm and you cry out as the serum enters your vein.
“Let’s open the restraints,” The man instructs.
All of your restraints are undone and you sit up. You stand up and look at the man, ready to get your payback for everything he’s done to you. But he whistles and all the scientists leave and three men walk in.
“Make sure you don’t beat them to death, remember we’re just trying to test how fast the healing process is.” The boss instructs the men. The boss looks over at you. “Good luck,” The man smiles evilly before leaving the room.
You look between the three men in front of you. Before you get a chance to even think, a fist collides with your face. You stumble backward and manage to keep your footing. You reach and grab one of the medical trays that were holding the syringes and you throw it at the men. One of them easily knocks the tray aside.
One of the men grabs your arms and holds them behind your back. “Let’s get to work boys,” He says.
Pain, that’s all you feel coursing through your body as these men hit you over and over and over. You can’t even think as they hit you.
---
You awake with a scream. You’re scared, terrified. You thought you killed the man, but he’s back, he’s next to you right now, giving you that evil smile.
“Stop, please,” You beg, looking at the man. “I’ll cooperate, just please don’t hurt me anymore.” Your breaths come heavy and you’re finding it hard to breathe.
A hand is placed on your shoulder and you gasp before immediately backing away. You slam against the headboard of your bed and hold your hands out in front of you.
“P…Please, I’m sorry!” You cry out. “I’m sorry!”
“Y/N, you’re okay, I’m here, you’re okay!” Two hands on your cheeks bring you to reality.
You gasp and pull back, the hands falling from your cheeks. You look around, your breaths coming heavier as you look for the man, but you don’t see him.
“Look at me. Look at me. You’re all right.” Your eyes meet emerald green ones.
“Nat?” You say in between struggled breaths.
“Breathe with me, okay? Focus on your breathing, do you hear me? Hey, hey, breathe.”
“I…I can’t,” You panic.
Natasha grabs your hand and places it over her chest. You feel her steady heartbeat beneath your hand.
It takes you a few moments, but you’re able to steady your breathing. You drop your hand from Natasha’s chest and take a deep breath.
“I heard you scream…” Natasha trails off. “I came here immediately.”
“He…he was here.” You break eye contact with Natasha and look around your room. “And he-”
Natasha grabs your face in her hands and gently moves your head so you look at her. “It wasn’t real, I promise. He isn’t here.”
You nod and stare into Natasha’s emerald green eyes. “I’m fine. You don’t have to stay.”
“I know you, so stop acting like you’re okay. I’ll stay here until you feel safer, alright?” Natasha settles into bed with you, wrapping her arm around your shoulders. She pulls you closer to her and you rest your head on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry if I woke you,” You say.
“It’s alright, I was already awake.” Natasha places a kiss on the top of your head. “They can’t get you, alright? I’ll protect you.”
“My knight in shining armor,” You say with a smile. “I love you, Nat.”
“I love you too, baby.”
