AOT if you were sick | 𝕳𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖈𝖆𝖓𝖓𝖔𝖓𝖘

Headcanons on how some of the AOT boys would help/comfort you when sick! :)

Characters: Armin, Connie, Eren, Erwin, Jean, Levi, Niccolo, Reiner,

Gender: Neutral, no references to readers’ gender ! :)

a/n: I haven’t been feeling well lately so badabam badaboom here we go. Also I am trying a new format because I’m pretty sure when I write the bullet points it looks wonky on mobile?...I dunno man :/

𝕬𝖗𝖒𝖎𝖓 𝕬𝖗𝖑𝖊𝖗𝖙 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

Right off the bat, Armin would ask what your symptoms are. Immediately after telling him he’d rush out to the pharmacy to pick up meds, and probably some comfort food, too.

How does he comfort you?

Armin would comfort you by bringing you things you need like medicine, wet towels, clean clothes, food, etc. Constantly, and I mean constantly asking if you want anything.

He probably would also set up a little sick-station in the living room with a blanket, pillow, cup of water, wet towel, bowl of soup, etc. and put on a TV show you like and just...chill while you watch or nap (if you fall asleep midway through).

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

Only if you were super sick. He would 1000% be worried about you while at work, though. You’d get “How are you doing” messages every hour, and he’d totally end up annoying the sh*t out of his co-workers for constantly talking about you being ill. Armin would probably also pick up a little snack/gift for you on his way home.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Most likely not. Armin would be scared he’d get sick too, and then you’d have to take care of him. If you begged him for a quick kiss, or you really whined for some cuddles, then maybe he’ll indulge.

𝕮𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖊 𝕾𝖕𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

“Dang bro, that sucks.” And that’s all he says.

How does he comfort you?

I think if you asked him for something, he’d get you it willingly and eagerly, but otherwise he’s clueless; He assumes you’re good if you don’t say anything.

Connie would comfort you by hanging out with you. Most likely, he’d sit you down on the couch and play video games with you, like Mario Kart; or he’d show you him killing a really hard boss. I think he’d also send you funny videos/tiktoks, and I mean like, the really dumb ones, where it’s like...a fart sound effect over an image of a truck. Or a, “Can I touch that badonkadonk fool?”

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

Yup, especially if you asked. I feel like Connie would take any chance he could to take off work, and you being sick would be his opening. He wouldn’t leave you alone all day, either; You’re stuck with him.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Connie does not care if you’re sick. You’re gonna get the same amount of treatment, maybe more if you whine and snuggle into his chest. He thinks you’re even more cute when you’re sick.

𝕰𝖗𝖊𝖓 𝕵𝖆𝖊𝖌𝖊𝖗 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

Eren would say something like, “Oh. Are you alright?” If you said no, he’d make you a snack or ask if you want anything. Afterwards he would chill with you and probably cuddle or snuggle you. I doubt he would really worry, he’d be real calm about it.

How does he comfort you?

He’d bring you something if you needed it. The only time I could see him getting fussy about it though, is if you interrupted him while he was totally invested in a video game or on a work call.

Most definitely snuggles with you in bed. Probably would do something to tease you too, kissing down your neck and saying “Are you better yet? How about now? Are you better yet?” I can see Eren being totally down for an afternoon nap together anytime you wanted.

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

He would ask you if you wanted/needed him to. If you said yes he would, even if you weren’t really sick. Likewise, if you said you’re fine, but were far from fine, he’d call BS and stay home too; if you kept saying he didn’t need to, it’s very likely his stubborn a*s would argue with you and take off anyways.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Definitely. Eren would still, probably even more than usual, baby the ever-loving sh*t out of you. There’s no escaping his cuddles, kisses, or more...sexual activities.

𝕰𝖗𝖜𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖒𝖎𝖙𝖍 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

Erwin, like Armin, would ask what’s wrong right away. Except he would completely annoy you by asking a million f*cking questions about your symptoms. He’d probably google them too and list a ton of possibilities that are so far-fetched. He’d end up scaring HIMSELF and forcing you to go to the doctor.

How does he comfort you?

Up your A**. Every five seconds he would be like, “Need something? You’re sure? You’re sure you’re sure? I know I was here five minutes ago, yeah, but I’m just making sure. So you’re sure?”

Pets your head, ruffles your hair. Goes out to pick up medicine, snacks, maybe even flowers. Probably tries to brush your teeth for you. You know, Erwin things.

Would they take/call off work for you?

Y E S. Yes. This man would call off the whole WEEK. He wouldn’t leave you alone, either. The whole damn day he’d be breathing down your NECK. Even if the only discomfort you felt was a scratchy throat. He’d make you call off work too.

Are they still physically affectionate?

I feel like Erwin is on the verge of being either, “Yes, princess, let me hold you.” or, “Oh no, no, no, we can’t be having that. Oh no, no, no. No passing illnesses, sweetie.” If the second were true, the only way to get him off your back would be by threatening to hug him while snot was dripping down your nose. This grown ass man would probably be screaming like a (very deep-voiced) little girl and running for dear life.

𝕵𝖊𝖆𝖓 𝕶𝖎𝖗𝖘𝖈𝖍𝖙𝖊𝖎𝖓 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

Jean would be so FREAKING sweet, and nobody can tell me otherwise. He’d say something like, “Awe, baby. Are you okay? Want anything?” He genuinely cares; although, immediately afterward he did anything nice or caring for you, he’d text all his dude friends and be like “yo man I’m SUCH a good boyfriend.” and brag his a*s off.

How does he comfort you?

He’d ask every once in a while if you needed anything, and he’d randomly bring you stuff like soup or a fresh cup of water. He’d probably feed you it, too.

Depending on what you wanted, Jean would either leave you alone or smother you to death. If you wanted him to leave you alone he’d check in on you every so often, and if you wanted him to smother you, he’d literally follow you all around the house. I’m talking like, cuddling or napping on the couch/bed, or straight up just following you around like an overly-attached child. His arms would be around your waist, chin on your head, and he’d waddle behind you like a d*mn penguin. And that includes trips to the bathroom. He’d probably sit outside the bathroom and wait for you, though.

Would they take/call off work for you?

If you wanted him to, were really sick, or if you were incredibly pitiful and acting like you were on your deathbed. Otherwise, I think he’d still go to work. He would bring home snacks and flowers afterwards though.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Oh my god, Jean would still be all over you. Like, there wouldn’t be a moment you’d be free from his hold. He’d probably still want to have sex with you, too as long as you were feeling well enough for it...The only exception would be if you got too over-heated or over-whelmed, then he’d very sadly hold back. Like a scolded pup, he’d just sit there...watching you...wishing you were in his arms.

𝕷𝖊𝖛𝖎 𝕬𝖈𝖐𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

You would tell him you’re not feeling well, and the first thing this man’d say would be, “What is it? You have the sh*ts? Something not coming out?” He’d get you what you needed immediately after you told him what was really wrong, though; but he’d also, very discreetly slip you a box of anti-diarrheals, too, just in case.

How does he comfort you?

Every once in a while he will ask if you need something. He’s not too over-bearing nor distant. Although, he’s probably constantly slipping you hand-sanitzers, and cleaning your room, or anything you’ve touched. It’s for your, and his sake. Oh, and he’s not handing you anything, either; he’s throwing it at you to catch. Or slipping his hand through the door with a bowl of soup/cup of water, and placing it on the floor/nearest surface. Kind of like when a cat pushes their paw through a crack, then disappears, and you’re like, “oh, would you look at that.”

I don’t think Levi would really want to be too close since he’s kind of a clean-freak, so he’d comfort you through, maybe, sending you low-quality cat memes he found on the web. Or he’d put on one of those full-on, ugly, yellow hazard suits and hold your hand while watching a reality-TV show like The Bachelorette meanwhile mocking them to oblivion. You’re legally required to laugh at the comments he makes about the people on the show; he’s doing it to be funny. He’s just awkward.

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

If you were pitiful, or not that sick, no. If you were genuinely pretty sick, then he’d call off work. He wouldn’t bug you, he’d just...stand in the corner and watch you. Just...he’d be there. Also still in his hazard suit. With his arms crossed.

Are they still physically affectionate?

No. Absolutely not. Not unless you’re talking about him and the cleaning supplies. I think if you tried to go anywhere near him, he’d get really mad and threaten you with a spray-bottle filled with water.

I think he would be upset, though. Like, I could see him having a calendar and just...sadly, squeakily dragging that marker down to form an X over the day to see how long you were sick, waiting ‘till you were better so he could hug you again.

𝕹𝖎𝖈𝖈𝖔𝖑𝖔 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

In a worried, but also kind of loving-scolding way, he’d say something like, “Geez, how’d this happen?” Immediately after he’d make you some homemade soup with fresh ingredients. Only after he would give you your medicine, because it needs a, “full stomach to work.”

Additionally, if he makes you food, don’t tell him if you can’t taste it. Please, god, don’t. He’ll feel like he did all that work for nothing then get annoyed.

How does he comfort you?

Constantly bringing you food or desserts. When he asks if you need anything, his mind jumps to a food or drink instead of medicine or a wet towel, because that’s just his strong-suit.

I feel like he would hang out with you and let you lay your head on his chest while you watched TV together. I picture him saying something like, “Hey babe, let’s watch Hell’s Kitchen.” Or, alternatively, “Hey babe, let’s watch Kitchen Nightmares.” Don’t watch Kitchen Nightmares with him. Those unclean kitchens will make HIM vomit, too.

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

Niccolo probably wouldn’t call off, but he would make you a whole bunch of yummy meals for you to eat the next day. He’d probably leave you a cute little note too, like a “Feel better, love you! :-D” with hearts all over it.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Depends on what kind of sickness you had. I think if you lost your taste he’d draw the line, simply because he needs to be able to taste the food he makes. Also, it frustrates the sh*t out of him when he loses his taste. Otherwise, I think he’d be down to cuddle, and very limitedly, kiss.

𝕽𝖊𝖎𝖓𝖊𝖗 𝕭𝖗𝖆𝖚𝖓 ~

After telling him you’re sick...

Gets VERY concerned. Wants to take you to the doctor, even if it’s a light illness, because he wants to make sure it’s nothing bad. He wouldn’t leave you alone after you tell him you’re sick, either. Constantly by your side.

How does he comfort you?

You wouldn’t need to ask for anything, because he already has everything for you. You’re surrounded in snacks, bottles of water, blankets, pillows, wet towels, medicine, literally anything you need, it’s already there. He’ll even offer to carry you to the bathroom, just so you don’t have to move.

Reiner would probably cuddle with you and put on a romance, family, or Disney movie. If it’s extra emotional, it’s gonna make him extra emotional. He will be squeezing you for dear life and just saying stuff like, “Boy, I don’t know what I’d do without you...”

Would they take/call off work to take care of you?

Yes, even if all you had was the sniffles, Reiner would have already called off, and make you call off too. He just thinks that’s what you should do if a loved one is sick. If he left you alone, he’d get worried you’d end up falling or unable to get something you need. He wants to be there for you.

Are they still physically affectionate?

Reiner would, but in a much more sweet way. He’s genuinely really worried for you, and doesn’t like seeing you sick. So be prepared for him to constantly be holding you with your head on his chest, and him peppering kisses all over your face.

So everyday when you get back home you always smell the food being cooked and see niccolo cooking in the kitchen. You go up behind him and hug him from behind usually startling him. Then the child comes out of no where and hugs your leg.

You guys then have the best dinner ever.

MARCO AND FRIENDS + EXPRESSING LOVE

characters: marco, jean, connie, sasha, niccolo

trigger warnings: it’s floofy🥺some bits are a little bit limey! these took me forever to finish, and for some reason I had more fun writing the niccolo, connie and sashas then marco and jeans, which was weird to me. proof read, but skimmed so probs a lot of spelling mistakes.

i flip a lot in and out of “you” to “partner” and “lover” but I’m to lazy to change it all so you’ll have to deal with it.

of course some of these apply to more then just one character, but these are the main three I imagine they have had👀

MARCOS LOVE LANGUAGE

listening

firstly, marco is obsessed with the sound of his partners voice. he loves the volume they speak at, weather it’s quiet and soft, soothing him, or loud and brash, fueling him with passion. he finds that the way his lover speaks reflects how they think and feel, and if marco loves anything it’s analyzing someone; but most of all, marco just loves closing his eyes and savoring the sound of their words on his ears as if he’s listening to his favorite song.

by listening to each other; it shows that each of the pair in the relationship demonstrates how much they care for each other, how attentive they are towards each other and most importantly, how much they respect one another. respect in a relationship is incredibly important to marco. why would he want to date someone who isn’t bothered about how he’s feeling? or how his day went?

as much as marco loves listening to his partner, the man is certainly very, very good at it too, always offering a shoulder to cry on and an ear to rant into, marco also really loves to vent. he’s the type of man to listen to everyone else’s troubles, and thus he feels as though he’s carrying everyone’s problems on his shoulders. a lover who will sit down with him with a cup of tea and run their fingers through his hair whilst he whines and complains, or tries to explain something complex he just can’t quite get his head around whilst they put in their own two cents is perfect for him.

physical intimacy

marco is a huge fan when it comes to physical intimacy. weather it’s hugs, kisses, hand holding or just a bump to the shoulder, marco loves physical contact. he finds it comforting, the warmth that spreads through him knowing that someone wants to hold him and be with him makes him immensely happy. close contact is something intimate, it means that his lover trusts him enough to let him keep them safe in his arms, and it also means that they aren’t shy or embarrassed by him and their relationship. of course, he understands if someone dosent like public affection, but he himself is a big fan.

the form of physical intimacy that makes marco the giddiest is having his partner sat on his lap, though it’s something he prefers in private. he likes to wrap his arms around their midsection and press soft little kisses up their neck, laughing with them about an inside joke as they melt into his chest. for marco, it’s all about reassuring his partner how much he loves them with his physicality, letting them know he loves to touch them and be around them, and that no matter what happens or what they do, he’s always there for them.

giving massages to his significant other is also another favorite form of physical intimacy that marco favors. he finds it rather funny, laying down on the bed as his lover helps to untie his knots, relieving him completely of all his training and hard work. though, marco specifically loves giving massages. he likes to look down at his partners bare back and run his fingers across their smooth skin, knowing he’s helping them relax after all their hard work. and if things get heated from all the physical contact . . . marco won’t complain.

words of affirmation

you will never meet anyone as reactive to words of praise and reassurance then marco. telling him how much you love him, how much you care for him and how lucky you feel to be with him will make his heart swell. as his partner means so much to him, marco loves hearing that he means just as much to them! marco was raised by his partners to show love and kindness ten fold, so he appreciates the same values in his lover.

of course, it comes naturally to marco to spread words of affirmation to his partner. there isn’t even a moment of hesitance for the freckled boy, who happily tells the person who means the most to him, that they are indeed the most important person in his life.

marco especially loves telling his lover how special they are when they’ve had a particularly bad day. he loves to uplift them, to watch their tear stained face and frown slowly twitch up into a smile, and for them to laugh and roll their eyes at his stupid jokes and cringy declarations of love.

a favorite way to spread words of love to his significant lover it for marco to write down his thoughts on a piece of paper and hide it in their clothes pockets, or to slide a note under their door for them to wake up to. he loves knowing he’s started their morning on a positive note, or that he’ll give them a confidence boost when they least expect it!

JEANS LOVE LANGUAGE

watching

weather it’s his famous side eye or just watching from afar, jean loves watching his lover. every morning and every night, he likes to take the time to memorize their features as if it’s the last time he might ever see them. his orbs caress their cheeks, their jawline, their hair, everything. he especially likes staring into their own eyes, which he believes are the most expressive part of someone.

by watching someone, jean can learn all about them. he’s very observant, and is able to deduce someone’s likes, dislikes, hobbies and habits. since sometimes he can be a bit blunt, or cold, watching is the way he learns about his partner. sometimes his lover gets surprised. they hadn’t told him about that before? well, they didn’t need to, considering he’d been staring at them from afar and took note of what they were doing.

for more sinful reasons, jean likes to watch his partner and admire their appearance. a bit of a womanizer in his cadet days, jean can appreciate a gorgeous person when he see’s one, and finds himself getting worked up at the sight of his lover rather quickly. as his orbs watch their curves, bumps and lumps, he can’t help but gulp, and after analyzing them long enough and having a good image in his head, he imagines all the things he can do to them.

quality time

as a mommas boy, jean has grown use to spending lots of meaningful, quality time with the people that he loves. it’s not to say that jean is clingy, he understands and values personal space just as much, but in his mind, what’s the point of being with someone if you don’t actually want to be with them?

jean’s favorite pass time is going for walks with his lover. considering as a soldier he’s been through hell and back, there is nothing more peaceful to jean then holding his partners hands and going through a stroll through the forest, taking in all the scenery. most times, he’ll pack a picnic so him and his partner can have lunch together, chatting about recent events and things that have caught their interest.

as someone who cares about his work as a soldier, jean also really likes to train with his partner. not only does it keep them both healthy and in great shape, but a lot of memorable moments can happen. there’s play fighting, tickle fights, and genuine struggles that can be overcome together. of course, it’s a time of focus, but whilst jean and his lover focus on their own progress, their also focusing on each others. growth is always important to jean.

acts of service

little things matter. it’s a belief jean holds dear to his heart. every morning he makes his lover a cup of coffee or tea, and everyday after he makes dinner, he expects them to offer to wash the dishes, or everyday after they’ve made dinner, he will wash the dishes.

acts of service mean the world to jean, because if you don’t take the time to do little things for each other, what’s the point? they matter just as much as the big gestures, if not more so.

even just asking how each other is feeling, or how each other’s day’s have been is worth while to jean. after all, if you’ve had a stressful day and it goes unnoticed by jean, he feels terrible. if he knows you’ve been feeling down, all he wants to do it hold is hold you and tell you how everything will be alright, and how he’s always there.

acts of service are also included in the bedroom; jean likes himself and his partner to really explore one another’s others bodies. he likes to know where they like to be touched, as well as liking them to know where to touch him. sometimes, jean likes it after a hard day when he’s tired, lacking the desire and energy, if his lover provides him with some of their own👀

CONNIES LOVE LANGUAGE

banter

as somebody who doesn’t take life too seriously, connie loves making you laugh, and you making him laugh, especially if it’s the two of you poking fun at each other. to connie, you’re laugh is beautiful, no matter how grotesque or annoying other people find it; the reason being it’s unique to you, and he likes to know that he makes you feel happy.

the reason poking fun at each other is seemingly loving in connies eyes is because it means the flaws that both of you have are acknowledged but over looked; your love for each other is unconditional. sure, maybe connie can get a little sensitive when you maybe joke around too much about his head being empty, or you can get irritated when he makes fun of your voice, but it’s easily solved when you both end up in fits of laughter.

connie finds that banter helps the two of you find and solve any problems that may be present in your relationship quicker and easier. they can be brought up in a care-free, funny manner, and can talk or joke it out without tensions rising.

banter dosent just involve jokes, but tickling and wrestling as well. it adds a layer on physical intimacy that connie thrives off. he loves feeling you wiggle against him and laugh as you try to flip him off of you. it can lead to some fun that dosent involve laughing👀

gifts

maybe it’s a bit selfish, but connie prefers the act of receiving gifts rather then giving them. it’s not that he dosent enjoy handing his partner something he knows they’ll like, but as a soldier he’s already giving quite a lot, and sometimes it’s nice to get excited over something. it makes him feel peaceful, like back in the day when he was a cadet.

for connie, it’s less about the gift itself and the feeling that bubbles up in his belly, and he also adores the fact his lover has specifically thought of him. knowing they’ve walked past a store, looked in the window and thought ‘connie will like that’ makes him swoon.

if connie dosent like a gift he won’t lie, he’ll make a joke out of it and smother his lover in cuddles and kisses, and if he loves a gift, he’ll do the exact same. he knows presents are hit and miss, but when his partner gets it right and it’s something he adores, he can’t help but love the fact they know him so well.

when it comes to giving presents connie . . . isn’t always the best. he’s the type of man to buy something he’ll like, thinking his partner will enjoy it just as much. sometimes they will, other times, not so much. that being said, when it comes to gifts for big occasions like birthdays and anniversary’s, connie is amazing. mostly because he asks jean for advice, though when connie really ponders on what to get you, he knows just what to buy.

being spontaneous

intense planning has never been connies things. sure, when it comes to work he ensures everything he does is in line with his orders, though when it comes to his plans with you and his plans on the battle field, one is certainly more dangerous then the other, although they’re still both rather terrifying in their own ways if he gets them wrong.

he finds himself happiest when he rolls over in the mornings to his lovers sleeping face, and once they’re coaxed awake he likes to make random little decisions then and there. where will they go to eat? connies not sure, but he likes to throw on his clothes and see where the day takes them. it’s nice to have uncertainty in his life that he knows won’t lead to his impending doom.

being spontaneous means connie isn’t as stressed, he dosent have to worry about being on time, or rushing to get somewhere. he can just appreciate being in his partners presence, and the two can do what they want whenever they want, rather than worrying. it allows them more flexibility, they don’t have to do things at a specific time, and they can ensure they enjoy their day out together as best as possible.

SASHAS LOVE LANGUAGE

sharing

you know sasha cares deeply for you when she decides to share things with you, especially food. her love for food almost out weighs everything else because it’s the one thing in life that makes her well and truly happy. food is hard to come by, and when she was younger, her father drilled into her head that sharing with the people they live with is important; everyone’s actions effect one another.

it’s not just food that sasha wants to share but her life too; she wants the both of you to do as much as you can together! her life as a soldier means that she has a lot of duties to attend too, and you might too, so every moment counts, even if it’s just sharing stories at the end of the day. sasha isn’t necessarily clingy, she likes her time with her friends as well as her time with her lover, rather then both merging, because as much as she likes sharing her life with you, she dosent necessarily want to share you.

that’s not to say sasha is obsessed with you to the point she hates you mingling with her friends, not at all! in fact, she actively encourages it. it’s just that, at the end of the day when she’s tired and emotionally drained, the last thing she needs is to be sharing more jokes with connie, and cramped spaces with other comrades. all she wants to do is for the two of you to share a meal over the crackling fire, or share a bed to snuggle in. sasha just wants to feel you, to share a safe space.

remembering details

sasha is a hunter! she has to remember a lot of details about the animals she hunts, about the terrain she hunts in and so on. it’s only natural that just like she remembers details about her prey, she remembers details about her lover to. book smart isn’t something sasha is very adept in, but her animalistic tendencies give her better things to focus on.

she likes to remember the things her lover likes and dosent like. that way, she can buy them things or bring up topics of conversations she knows will make them happy, or, she can prank them along with connie, and get a good laugh out of their reactions. after all, you can’t be a good match with sasha is you can’t take a few jokes.

but more importantly, sasha likes to know what makes her partners shiver. where they like to be touched and held, what spot on their neck flusters them when she gives it a light kiss. she specifically likes to know where they’re ticklish, because sasha likes to see them writhe underneath her in more then one way😌

being vulnerable

as one of the most upbeat and silliest of the soldiers, sasha often finds herself feeling like she needs to be happy most of the time, especially when no one else is feeling particularly upbeat. it’s the same with connie; they share the same mentality. if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry. and not many people get the privilege of seeing it, but some days sasha just dosent want to laugh.

sometimes she wants to cry until she can’t cry anymore. they’ve lost so much, they’ve all suffered, and feeling like the backbone of the group sasha dosent always find that she can truly share how she’s feeling. connie usually comforts her, but there’s something so much sweeter about her lover running their fingers up and down her spine, whispering gentle words into her ear and holding her as her shakes calm down.

often times, people just see sasha as comic relief. sure, they knew she’s a strong, reliable soldier, but just because you don’t see her traumas dosent mean their not there. when they come out of sasha, they usually come out in waves. a lot of the time sasha hides her trauma with jokes and laughter, in fact, it’s actually helpful to her, it’s a way for her to cope, but laughter isn’t always the best medicine.

NICCOLOS LOVE LANGUAGE

cooking:

surprised? shouldn’t be. cooking is niccolos life line, the thing he considers himself best at. of course it’s his job to cook and prepare meals for other people, and he likes to hear them praise his talents - but he would give that all up in a heart beat to watch you lick your lips and ask him for seconds any day.

when it comes specifically to you, niccolo will make sure to make dishes and meals he knows are your favorites and add in spices and herbs he remembers you enjoying, or ones he thinks you will enjoy. if he’s failed and you’re not as peckish and usual, he’ll grumble about how ungrateful you are, and how you should make dinner for yourself.

he prefers the company of you on your own, in the presence of your own home then a bustling restaurant. he likes that you can both talk freely about anything, without anyone over hearing, and how you can act like yourself; with or without the use of manners. he prefers the former, but when it comes down to you niccolo dosent mind.

bickering:

as someone who is rather feisty and abrupt, niccolo feels alive when things heat up. of course he dosent want the two of you arguing all day everyday, but to niccolo a spat shows that you both care. he’ll moan at you if you’re not drinking enough water, or flick you in the forehead if you’re being a brat; he expects the same treatment back.

often times people laugh at you and niccolo for being like an old married couple. there is just something about knowing no matter how many disagreements you two have, you’ll still love each other, stay together and work on your relationship that makes the young chefs heart beat a mile a minuet.

aside from all the fluff; niccolo also has a bit of a thing for toxic relationships, to an extent of course. it keeps him on his toes, he loves the way the two of you like to make each other jealous, to wind one another up and boil each other’s blood. it usually ends up some very passionate moments in the sheets between the two of you, or perhaps, on the softer side of things, gentle kisses and words of reassurance<3

appreciation

more than anything, niccolo likes being told he’s doing a good job. it mostly comes from his profession as a military chef, it’s nice knowing that the soldiers he’s feeding, the ones that are risking their lives day in and day out, are happy and satisfied, and that’s translated into the rest of his life. as someone with quite a blunt persona, it makes niccolo go a little soft them someone compliments him.

it’s nice to hear his lover tell them they appreciate them. a little thank you and a kiss on the cheek goes a long way for niccolo. appreciation comes in many forms however. listening to him when he’s ranting about something that happened at work, making sure to be a reliable partner, being on time and showing up when he needs you. the chef also loves when his partner makes small, minimal sacrifices for him, like missing a night out with friends when he’s feeling under the weather or spending.

it’s not just his lover appreciating them, but he also loves to appreciate his lover. anything they do for him, like lending an ear when they know he’s had a particularly hard day or missing out on something they wanted to do because he wanted to spend time with them, niccolo will pay forward. it’s not a one way street. he’ll offer to engage in activities his partner enjoys to show them that he wants to make them as happy as they make him, and he makes a special effort to always open doors for them and be sincere, even if it comes across a little rude sometimes.

AOT Favorite Restaurant Headcannons:

(I live in America so feel free to add on any options from elsewhere :))

It’s a bit long so hcs below the cut:

Levi: The man loves cafe’s, but definitely not anything mainstream or too busy. I feel like he’d prefer to support a small mom&pop business over a big bustling corporation. Just a cute little classic diner aesthetic with very little foot traffic where he can enjoy his morning paper or book alongside his tea and fresh baked goods. (He 100% checks the health code ratings of every food place he sets foot in)

Erwin: For some reason I think this man would love old fashioned 50’s style diners. The ones with old license plates and photos decorating every square inch of the walls. I’m unsure if he likes the historical element or if he’s just an old man at heart.

Hange: Breakfast places. The ones with those little puzzle sheets and crayons that you can doodle with. I see them working a lot of crazy long hours regardless of what their modern career is, so they usually frequent a breakfast place in super early in the morning for their dinner. It’s full of old people and usually quiet enough that they can occasionally drag Levi along.

Moblit: I know in cannon he apparently drinks heavily, so I think a modern AU version would also enjoy some booze. I can see him as one of those people that likes to try every new craft beer he can get his hands on. Even has that app where you can rate them all. So he eats a lot of typical pub food; decent quality burgers and fries, pizza. Pub foods actually pretty good ngl.

Eren: I cannot see this boy eating anywhere that isn’t cheap and greasy. He’s a sucker for fast food places, though he prefers higher quality places than just McDonald’s. Like Five guys or In-N-Out.

Mikasa: This one is the hardest one for me tbh. I think she’d most just follow Eren around and eat what he eats, even if it’s pretty much garbage. He probably wouldn’t even ask what she wanted :(( If she’s for some reason on her own I think she’d love a good sit down pasta place. She’d not the type to really care if she’d solo in a family restaurant. It’s sad, but I think she’d go to reasonably nice places like Olive Garden and sort of imagine Eren was there with her :((

Armin: I know your thinking a seafood restaurant. I know. But for some reason I think this boy would have ALLERGIES. As someone who has to eat a very specific diet, he just has that energy to him. I think he’d love a good salad or soup at Panera Bread. Would absolutely love to try seafood though :/

Sasha: Anything. All you can eat buffets. Girl is just happy to be eating. I think she probably eats a lot of gross garbage food until she meets Niccolo and he shows her better options. Before they met she just kind of inhaled food and didn’t really taste any of it. Then she develops a bit more of a refined pallet and prefers his cooking over everything else. So Niccolos cooking or a well rated fancy restaurant.

Connie: I picture this dude absolutely loving Denny’s. It’s greasy as hell and terrible for his stomach but it’s a guilty pleasure for him. White Castle is also up there. Taco Bell. I can see him as sort of a stoner who wanders into these places at like 2am.

Jean: The one person in this group who I think would purposely eat healthy. I feel like he would love fruit smoothies for some reason. Loves going to The Juice Bar, makes him feel very official and adult to eat good. I think he’d also love sushi, it’s light and generally very healthy for you.

Annie: Small hometown donuts shops. She’s a bit quiet and shy, so she prefers somewhere less traveled like Levi. Plus, the mom&pop shops always have better donuts.

Reiner: Steak places. Literally anywhere he can get a gigantic well cooked steak. LongHorn Steak House or Texas Roadhouse, those kind of places.

Historia: Handmade pastries! I think she’d be a sucker for anything sweet so she’d like bakeries and ice cream shops.

Ymir: I dunno why but I think this girl would love spicy food. Absolutely kills hot wings at a terrifying rate without even breaking a sweat. She has that intensity about her.

Niccolo, to me, is characterized by a very overwhelming desire to be loved.

Think about it - he fell head over heels in love with a woman who he considered a literal devil, all because she praised his cooking and showed genuine admiration towards him.

And on the other hand, he was incredibly quick to tell his comrades to essentially sacrifice him and attack the Eldians (who were literally holding him at gun point), and equally quick to put himself in the position of the villain with Jean and Connie in order to try and save their lives. In conjunction with the previous point this reads to me as someone who is used to, expects, or at least thinks he deserves being disliked.

I think that, rather than being a natural-born talented Chef, Niccolo was just a person who - due to his impulsive, angry and even violent nature we see demonstrated with Gabi - just wasn't very loved in his early life. I think he took up cooking because it's a skill that brings people together and that lightens up people's day, and he worked at it in hopes of having that positive aspect ascribed to himself.

I don't think his desire to make others happy is insincere, so much as I think it has a secondary - somewhat selfish - motivation of wanting to be liked and admired for making them happy.

And Sasha was the first person who never saw him through the lense of impulsivity or anger or violence - she only cared about the positive aspects he'd worked to cultivate. She genuinely admired him without anything marring that vision and he immediately became addicted to it.

Which isn't to say he didn't truly love her - they had time to bond afterwards after all - just that the initial spark came from Sasha's praise and Niccolo's desire for it.

But hey.

That's just a headcannon.

Attack on Titan Characters’ Halloween Costumes (Headcannons)

What I think each of the Attack on Titan characters would dress up as for Halloween.

(Yes I know it’s June but I just had to get this out of my system)

Cws: modern au, college au, Halloween, I don't know what to put here really

Includes: Eren Jeager, Armin Arlert, Mikasa Ackerman, Jean Kirschtein, Sasha Braus, Niccolo, Connie Springer, Historia Reiss, Ymir, Marco Bott

Summary: What would some of the Attack on Titan characters wear if they all attended a Halloween party together in a modern au?

Eren- Solider

I’m seeing camouflage pants, a black compression shirt, combat boots, and maybe even those metal tags that soldiers wear around their neck. Mikasa is absolutely in love with the look, and jots it down in hopes of accidentally matching with him next year. Eren idolized the whole solider thing as a kid.

Armin- Milo Thatch from the animated Atlantis movie

If you don’t know who he is, Milo Thatch is a young explorer on a team that discovers The Lost City of Atlantis. He wears a long muted green trench coat, baggy army-colored explorer pants, a beige sweater, round glasses, white knee breeches, low-heeled dress shoes, and he carries around a brown cross body satchel with an old book. I feel like impersonating Milo would be so in-character for Armin, he could pull it off well. And he would look adorable.

Mikasa- This is partially influenced by Isayama’s modern au, but I’m just seeing her completely decked out in goth attire.

She would wear rose-patterned lace black leggings and matching gloves, high black boots, a black leather skirt and sleeveless top set, V neck with an abundance of chokers. Rings, probably. We all know her makeup game would be absolutely bomb (and perfect for the dim lighting of the party). If anything, her outfit is comparable to a Misa Amane (from Death Note) cosplay.

Jean- A Prince

He wants to have people falling over him so bad, and what better way than to show up as a literal prince for the Halloween party? Goes all out with a navy suit and gold buttons, matching pants, sleek dress shoes, does his hair nice, even carries a pocket watch on a gold chain tucked into his pocket. His mom probably helped him with the outfit. Eren absolutely dies when Jean tries to hit on a girl dressed as a princess at the party and she asks if he’s dressed up as George Washington (the first U.S. President).

Sasha/Niccolo- they go for a Ratatouille Remi and Linguini couple costume (Sasha wanted to and Niccolo loved her too much to say no).

You'd think that Niccolo, the actual cook, would the the chef, but no. Sasha wanted to be the chef because then she’d “get to taste test all the food.” Sasha goes out and buys Niccolo a fake rat nose and ears. He wears white loafers, grey sweatpants, a grey long-sleeved shirt, and Sasha paints three little black whiskers on each cheek. Niccolo lets Sasha borrow a chef’s uniform and hat from his restaurant and has to take a few deep breaths because the uniform matches the one he wears while he works and he loves that. Lots of selfies.

Connie- Wearing a goblin mask of some sort

This man has two primary goals on Halloween. One: to consume as much candy as humanly possible. Two: to scare the absolute living crap out of as many people as possible. Connie grew up with a few siblings, so his parents probably couldn’t spend a lot of money on each of their Halloween costumes growing up. They were probably given twenty bucks, take to spirit Halloween, and told to have at it. He’s also a relatively simple, straightforward person in general, so I feel like he drops by the convenience store like the day before Halloween and picks out the best goblin mask he can find. Wears dark jeans and a black hoodie so he can wait in the bushes outside the party to catch people by surprise. Armin’s soul almost leaves his body when he falls victim to one of Connie's jump scares.

Historia- An angel

I know this isn’t the most creative costume for her, but there was really no other option. Plus Ymir insisted and takes a million pictures once Historia is all done getting ready. She wears fluffy Angel wings, a well-crafted gold headpiece from Etsy to be the halo, and a sleeveless, pure white, almost floor-length dress with gold rings on the shoulders. Her makeup is soft and she seems to glow, even in the darkened lighting. She looks like she was sent from heaven. (Reiner stares so hard and Ymir keeps shoving him away).

Ymir- A basketball uniform

Now keep in mind, Ymir doesn’t actually play basketball (although I do feel like she’d be involved in a sports team of some kind). Her top is sleeveless and has a big 00 on the front and back. Ymir probably got it at the Walmart or some convenience store like Connie. Not the type to put too much effort into a Halloween costume unless she gets to do really gory makeup and scare people (which Historia does not allow her to).

Marco- A Hogwarts student

He and Armin are such nerds I love it. It’s probably a Hufflepuff robe, he wears the tie and everything. He carries around a wand he got off of some authentic seller. It’s real wood, he and Armin fanboy at the attention to detail since both of them have read the books.

The professors aren’t supposed to attend student-organized parties or gatherings, but everyone is fairly certain they saw a displeased-looking Levi chasing Hange wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume in the distance.

- she never considered getting a job until she found out Auntie Anne’s was hiring

- homegirl was the first applicant on the job fr 🏃‍♀️

- she kinda gets in trouble with her manager for eating the sample pretzels all the time

- but she’s a master at folding them so she always gets off the hook lmao

- cannot cook the food bc she will burn the place down <3

- definitely prefers caramel over the other dressings but she will eat them all the same 🤌

- used to have a lot of fun with Connie when he worked there, but he got fired rip

- her new source of entertainment is the new guy Niccolo who knows how to cook the pretzels to the perfect golden brown 😩

- she’s still working up the courage on asking him out on a date

- Connie goes around to tease her for her ginormous crush on Niccolo and he has such a good time watching them trip over their words <3

- steals the caramel and takes them home to use for other snacks lmao

- one time Niccolo scolded her for eating all the food and she was like wtf I’m hungry 😠

- and he said “if you’re so hungry, I could take you out to dinner”

- she choked on the pretzels, and they almost needed to call an ambulance 😭

- overall 9/10, -1 bc Connie isn’t actually an employee there and gets run off by their manager who hates his guts 😪

Mikasa
