Do you ever think about how Bruce had an Apokolips war weapon that could take away superpowers, and Dick talked him out of using it, but then when Clark killed Bruce, Dick lost it and decided to use the device himself?

Say what you want about what Dick did and what he became, but I, for one, am fascinated by how Bruce's death was the catalyst that turned him into a traitor in that specific universe.

Skimming through Nightwing New Order again and I can’t help but bring up some parts and panels I feel are overlooked by fans.

First, this

I can only imagine how many times Dick carried his little boy like this when bringing him to bed at an earlier age. So even as Jake’s a preteen here and even had it not been for the circumstances involved, I don’t believe Jake minds being carried like this.

Now poor Jakey had felt what his Dad no doubt did when a speedster carries him for the first time. Also, that face. Pardon the pun, but quite a rush lol

This moment goes to show, when it comes to saving the day and no matter the pain, Jake is one tough cookie. I think he might’ve gotten that from both of his parents frankly.

(I Headcanon that in a world where he officially becomes a superhero (also has an official older sister in Mar’i but I digress) he can take all sorts of discomfort, pain, and other such things in the middle of a battle and still keep going)

Y’know, in the town I grew up in there was like… a silent war over what we called the town. It had a few different nicknames (and, of course, a full name) and everyone chose one which sounded right to them and stuck to it. If two people who chose different sides ended up talking about it, they would passive aggressively use their own preferred nickname more & more pointedly as the conversation went on.

Anyway, DC’s version of this is Bludhaven. There are people who call it Blud (pronounced “blood,”) people who call it Blud (pronounced “blue’d”), people who call it BHC (like NYC), people who call it BC (“You can’t just take an initial from the middle of a word!”), people who call it Haven, and people who call it by its full name (with either of the previous 2 pronunciations.)

And if you question any of them, they’ll tell you theirs is the only right way to say it. Everyone else is wrong.

I think I get it. If they were aging normally behind the scenes, you're asking how old they'd be now and what they'd be doing?

Well, what they'd be up to now, given that they'd be in their early thirties...

I would say married, moved out of the Tower and operating as a duo hero pair. I tend to headcanon that they had Mar'i early; she'd be about 14, Jake is about two/two-and-a-half years younger than Mar'i in my head so he'd be about 12.

Both Tim and Jake understand what Robin stands for and what it means for any sort of Batman in particular. Whether it’s the Caped Crusader Bruce himself or Head of the Crusaders Dick, at their lowest points, the darkness that permeates their souls can cloud their actions and the consequences that follow.

Robin in general serves to light the Duo’s conscience out of that darkness and be the heroes they are meant for being, individuals that average people can relate to and take inspiration , rather than self destructive tyrants that only create fear and mistrust.

….and it’s no wonder at this point why, in my more ideal yet utterly silly and self indulgent fan based versions of the DCU, I have Tim be the main teacher for Jake in the ways of being a superhero (besides the latter’s parents of course lol)

No matter how much I suspend my disbelief I CANNOT see Dick as a crusader. His best friend is a meta. His favorite hero was an alien who they seem to be treating as a meta, he was on a team with Raven and Beast Boy, not sure where Donna or Garth clock in there. He dated an alien and had kids with her, his siblings have at least one alien and one meta friend, barely any of his city’s villains are metas. And then Alfred implies he’s the reason the dosing law is in effect. Jason’s chip I can understand even if I think it’s blown out of proportion in some stories but Dick being a bigot just seems way too OoC for me. But I like Jake and Alfred so I’ll see where this one goes.

New Order Thoughts??

I can’t tell if I love or hate new order, and if my dick Grayson bias is the reason I hate it (cuz he’s kind of a corrupt leader in new order) I’ve been trying to consume a lot of canon content to get a good idea of the characters rather than basing everything off fanon, but that can be difficult when there are so many different writers, and some of them fuck up the characterization. Idk if Dick would actually do this or not, like he has so many friends that are metas?? Why would he just?? And if he would I might just not want to see it because I’m biased as fuck.

HOWEVER, I am nowhere close to finishing New Order, and am probably missing a lot of key information. Pls lmk if I'm interpreting this wrong.

One thing I know they fucked up when writing new order is giving my man a lord farquaad ass haircut

Remember that period in a Tamaranean’s lifespan called the Transformation, more or less their equivalent to Puberty?

When Jake, son of Nightwing and Starfire, underwent that phase; his hair turned white as snow, the colors in his eyes were reversed so that the white sclera became green while the green pupils became white and he developed a craving for Squid mixed with Chocolate and Habanero Pepper.
