A blurb on spencer with the audio thats like “I always thought you were the most beautiful girl i’ve ever seen” and it’s to reader? :))
love this !! and i don't care if it's such a cliche image, I'm not going to stop
Spencer jumps when you slide the balcony door open. Even with the serial killer caught, you're all still on edge, chilly in the Alaskan spring.
"Sorry, I hope you don't mind me interrupting." You step forward and close the door to stop any heat from the fire escaping inside.
"Not at all," Spencer assures you, smiling softly to encourage you forward.
You stand next to him, looking out over at the hill and evergreen trees, everything with a fresh dumping of snow on it. The sun's just setting even though it's not too far into the afternoon, the sky beginning to turn soft pink and orange.
"Things were getting a bit tense inside." You laugh at the very recent memory of some passionate arguing.
"Prentiss and Morgan?" Spencer guesses. You confirm with a nod. "Hotch should add Uno to the list of banned games."
You laugh at the rare joke from him. "We're not going to have anything left now that Monopoly, Clue, and all card games are banned."
"We'll have to all play chess." He decides, matching his enthusiasm with a grin.
"Then you'll have to sit out so it's fair." You remind him with a smirk.
He pouts at that, not the answer he was after. A comfortable silence falls between you as you watch the sky changing colors. It's really like nothing you've seen before, and it's a nice reminder that there's still beauty in the world.
"It's just wow." You say softly, in awe.
"The stars will be out soon," Spencer notes. "They should be incredible. It's meant to be clear and there's no light pollution here like there is in DC."
"You looked it up?" You wonder. It's sweet, really, and his interest seems to go beyond adding to his vast general knowledge.
He turns to you to nod. "I'm going to come out after dinner to watch them. I've never seen anything like this in the cities I've lived in, and we don't get many cases in such beautiful, remote places."
You hum with your own nod. "You're right. Or..." Your curiosity doesn't allow you to resist the opportunity to segue the conversation. "Many beautiful people, like the deputy that's into you."
You're trying to disguise it as teasing him, at least then you can play it off as being teammates and friends, and you're desperately hoping he doesn't notice that you're tense about his answer.
His nose scrunches slightly. Maybe disgust, maybe excitement. "I wasn't looking."
"Not your type?" You ask, slightly alarmed again. You do share some similar traits with her, so if she's not his type, your chances are slimmer.
"I always thought you were the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen." He says sincerely, knocking the wind out of your chest. "So, no, Y/n, I'm not looking at anyone."
You take longer than you should to get over your shock. "You're serious?"
"Sorry, sorry." He quickly apologizes as his cheeks heat up more than can be accounted for by the cold weather. "That was weird. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable."
"No." You rest your hand over his, hoping to calm his spiraling worry. "You didn't... just thank you. That's... the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me."
"It's true." He reiterates.
Your smile deepens. "Can I come stargazing with you?" You ask. "I promise I won't distract you."
"Looking like that? Impossible." He jokes, flirtier than you imagine. It's like your reciprocation spurs him on. "But I'd love company... your company, specifically. Inviting someone else would be weird."
You chuckle. "Just me and you."

Pretty much everybody on Tumblr seems to look at Garrus and be like, "Hm, yes, the optimal love interest." And that's fair! Garrus is great. Date him if you want.
But goddamn, have I just always had brainrot for Shepard and Garrus platonically. Their dynamic is just so flawless. I have never believed a game more when it has told me "These two people are best friends." They are the most found family siblings I've ever seen.
Every party member in Mass Effect 1 (who lives) goes on to achieve greatness above and beyond pretty much any party member introduced in subsequent games (except that I do specifically think the human party members are outstripped by Mordin), but you get to watch it happen with Garrus and Tali because they never leave you. Garrus starts off as "That loose cannon cop who signed on to help get Saren." After Shepard dies, he decides he's just going to casually end organized crime and is alarmingly successful. When Shepard shows up again, Garrus' reaction is to fucking shoot them and then joke about it when they finally make it to him. Shepard deflects Garrus' near death experience by calling him ugly. During his loyalty mission, you have the opportunity to have some absolutely raw conversations with him about ethics and morality that you don't really ever see with another companion except Jack, and she basically completely ignores everything you say until you see her in 3. With Garrus, he'll resist what you're saying, but you can see him trying to find the line between justice and revenge, law and chaos. If you put him in charge of the second team during the suicide mission, you can see how much he's grown with you as he effortlessly coordinates his team with yours. And all that is just in Mass Effect 2.
Once you get to 3, you really start seeing it. Garrus has made his way up in the Hierarchy and is leading their efforts against the Reapers, just like Shepard. When you ask him about it, he immediately starts talking about it as the shared work you've had since the first game. No other companion identifies themselves with you through this struggle. Sure, other companions will mention the previous games and what you did with them, but there's always something else. Liara is the Shadow Broker now. Tali has the Geth to worry about. The Virmire Survivor is bound up in the Alliance and becoming a Spectre. Wrex has the Krogan. But Garrus? Garrus is here with you. He's standing right next to you, giving the Reapers his full attention. And as you go throughout the game, he's consistently the one there for you. When you're struggling to get the Council Races to work together, he's there. When things go tits up on Thessia, he's there. Even you're going into the final run, he's there. When the two of you die, if Turian heaven is the same as human heaven, he'll meet you at the bar.
There is no Vakarian without Shepard. There is no Shepard without Vakarian. These two soldiers are bound together with blood, sweat, and the sheer Terminator-grade determination to save the galaxy, no matter how much it kicks and screams. There is no fire they won't jump into for the other one, and they'll make fun of each other the whole way. There's no other relationship like it.
I'm Glory of Dawn, and this is my favorite platonic ship on the Citadel.

Being his partner, you're destined to live a lavish lifestyle. Gifts have become an everyday occurrence between the two of you. It's his way of leaving his mark on you, gifting you with jewels and pricey trinkets, though he'd never tell you that. When noticing him with a matching one of his own, your relationship should be clear as day.
St. Xocolatl's Day was something he cared little about prior to his relationship with you. However, it was somewhat of an obligation to attend (to get to his classes). As he exited the gates, his eyes were quick to find you as they'd always been. You stood near the end of his line, patiently waiting your turn. Little did you know, that was enough to make his hear swoon.
You were a bit reluctant to throw out the chocolates. This day came only once a year and you wished to eat to your heart's content. The variety of chocolates wrapped in colorful, florescencent plastics that were just as eye-catching as you'd expected. But from the looks of it, you wouldn't get to try any.
“Do these hold some importance to you?”
If you had not been his lover, you would've found it to be a genuine question. But the hint of dismay swimming in his usually calm gaze was a dead give away. He looked like a kicked puppy, an expression that was strictly reserved for your eyes. You were quick to shake away his worries, pushing the wrapped goods into his open arms.
The only one that remainded was his own, marked with such intricate and neat calligraphy that only he was capable of.
~~~ To my dearest, {Name}, whom I miss terribly. ♡
Every. Aching. Moment
Kaname is not one to shy away from his feelings, especially the ones involving you. The relationship you share is ambiguous, to say the least. The adoration and infatuation in his gaze are evident, and yet he's willing to keep it a secret for the sake of your reputation. Frankly, he's quite the selfish man, and at times he can't help but act rashly when it involves you.
The Pureblood wants to possess you and everything you are. He can hardly keep his hands off you as is, and the scarce amount of time you spend together only fuels his cravings. But with a little interference, I'm sure he could pull some strings. He is a Kuran after all, what can't he do for you?
Whether he wants to admit it or not, humans are very fragile beings. If he so chose to, he could slaughter thousands with just a mere snap of his fingers. At times, he wishes to do just that. After all, you had always been surrounded by other morals who practically jumped at the opportunity to suck away your time — Leeches, that's all they are. Blood-sucking leeches (hypocrite).
It's a shame he can't stay with you for the entirety of the day. During your absence, he's grown rather irritable with those beneath him. “Sharing you,” or rather your time, is and shall remain one of his least favorite pastimes. Truthfully, the thought of turning you into a vampire has crossed his mind more times than he'd care to admit.
“It's been quite some time since our last interaction. Are you avoiding me, {Name}?” His words came out as a feeble whisper, with how close he was to you, that was more than enough. “You've been spending far too much time with those in the day class and frankly, I've grown a bit jealous.” His warm breath grazed the shell of your ear as he gently rested his hand along the small of your back.
“Can't I be a little selfish? Just this once.”
Your relationship is bound to spark the interest of the aristocrats roaming the night class. It's not everyday they see the Great Kaname Kuran grow so soft for a mere human. Only a fool wouldn't be able to see how tightly you have him wrapped around your finger. But the real question is why?
Oh what a shame, no one will truly understand why. Those who've tried weren't fortunate enough to make it back. Their death being by the hand of a Pureblood who are they to say anything? In their eyes, your situation remains an anamoly regarding the many faces of Kaname Kuran. Though it seems he's not too keen on playing nice when you're involved.
An immortal life can be a blessing and a curse. Even so, it happened to be one thing Kaname wouldn't wish to liveanything. You've spoiled him far too much, at this rate you'll be a vampire in no time!
What was wrong with you? You had agreed to let Bradley stop by later in the evening so you and he could talk. You didn't really want to talk to him, because you knew you would end up a crying mess. But there was no way he was going to worm his way back to you. Not after what he did last weekend.
And yet, you found yourself touching up your makeup before he got there. And you decided to stay in your skirt and sweater instead of changing into leggings like you usually would after class.
"You're ridiculous," you told yourself in the bathroom mirror. You looked so sad, and you just knew you were going to have to kick Bradley out later if you started crying.
Janessa was already out for the night, so at least you would have some privacy. But maybe that was worse, since you didn't even know for sure what Bradley wanted to talk about. He had told you he wanted to be your boyfriend. You weren't lying to him when you told him you would have said yes.
Sighing, you exited the bathroom and picked up one of your graduate exam practice books to help you pass the time. You had narrowed your application list down to just four schools. Three of them were a bit outlandish, including the University of Chicago, but you were hopeful that one of them would be willing to give you a scholarship. Then you'd keep the University of Virginia as your last resort, since you were almost positive you'd be accepted to stay on in the math department here. You had a 4.0 GPA, and now you just needed to ace your exams.
You jumped off the couch when you heard knocking. Time to get this over with. You unlocked the door and were met with sad, brown puppy dog eyes and a face that you immediately wanted to kiss. And he was holding more flowers.
"Come in," you managed to say in a steady voice that didn't betray your nerves and the butterflies in your tummy. Why had he picked you? What was even special about you in the first place? Nothing. He could have used his voice and charm on any other girl, and you kind of wished he would have. Why the hell was he here anyway?
As he nodded and walked into the living room, you took a deep breath. He smelled so good. He was still wearing that ugly Grateful Dead shirt, and you knew how soft it was. You wanted to rub your cheek against his chest and feel it again for yourself. You wanted to change into it for bed.
"These are for you. Since I messed the other ones up earlier," he told you, holding out the flowers.
You took them, saying, "Well, you didn't mess them up, but thanks." You set the flowers down and nodded for him to sit.
You followed him over toward the couch where he stood, looking at you. "What did you want to talk about?" you asked, crossing your arms as casually as you could.
He ran his hands through his hair and looked around the room before his eyes settled back on your face. "Me, you, everything. I don't know, Sugar. I fucked up with you. And I don't know if you can forgive me, but I wish you would."
He looked so serious, you thought you might as well call him out on it. "I'm not sure how to respond to you right now. You look and sound sincere. But I'm not really in the market for being tricked or fucked over again."
Bradley's face fell and he rubbed his eyes like he was in agony. Then he dropped his arms to his sides. "I've always been sincere with you. Always." His voice was pleading as he added, "Maybe not with everyone else. But with you, yes. So please, please don't start treating me the way everyone else does. Okay?"
"Okay," you agreed, although you weren't really sure what you were agreeing to.
"You treated me like I was important. Like I fucking mattered to you." He rubbed his hand over his mouth and looked at the ceiling. "You don't know how sorry I am that I fucked this up, Sugar."
You swallowed every snarky remark that you had spent the last few minutes coming up with and took him gently by the hand. Immediately his other hand dropped to his side and he was looking at you again.
"Let's sit down," you whispered, and he nodded and sat on your couch, pulling you down and keeping his hand in yours. You took a breath to speak, but he was already going.
"I was so jealous of that fucking guy. I don't even know who he was. But I immediately thought the worst. And I know that's not fair to you, because you're... you. You're just better than everyone else. I think that's why I like you so much. You're smart, and your opinion matters. And you treated me like I was worth being around. Like," he said with a shrug, "I was worth your time." He swallowed, and your eyes dipped to his Adam's apple and his scars.
You thought for a second that he must have been pretty badly mistreated if your opinion means so much after knowing him for a month. You thought about his door and his mom and how he always seemed to be at odds with his fraternity brothers.
"You're worth my time," you said softly. He was looking at you again, his eyes sincere but laced with pain. "And you are important."
"But...?" he prompted, still holding your hand. "Come on, Sugar. Just say what you want to say."
You took a deep breath. "I just want you to be honest with me. That guy I was talking to? His name is Max. He's on the lacrosse team, and he's really, really stupid. I used to tutor him. I don't know why you thought you needed to be jealous of him. He's nothing."
"Sugar, I'm an idiot," he groaned.
"No. You're smart, Bradley. So what gives?" you asked.
He just shook his head and looked at the floor. "Everyone already thinks I'm a fuckup. Everyone expects me to be a certain way. And sometimes it's just easier to give in to their expectations than it is to try."
You laced your fingers with his so he would look at you again. "Who is Hannah?" you asked softly when he met your eyes. You watched the expression on his face change from pain to anxiousness. You wanted to know why he and Jeff couldn't get along.
"Chase was in my fraternity," he said simply. "Hannah was his girlfriend."
"What happened?" you asked softly, and then he told you everything.
---------------------------
Bradley just wanted to hold you and feel your arms slip around him. He wanted to feel your lips move against his neck while you spoke to him in your matter of fact voice. He wanted to listen to your laughter in his bedroom. The last thing he wanted to do was tell you about Chase and Hannah. Nobody else knew the full truth. Not even Phoebe, and she was there.
No, nobody really knew all of it. But you were about to. Because if it meant that you could understand him, then it was worth telling you.
"Chase and Jeff were best friends, and Chase got expelled from Beta and then from UVA for fighting. For fighting me," he told you.
You just shook your head. "You're not a fighter."
Bradley laughed softly. "No, perhaps I'm not. But I think I became one. I used to drink a lot more. Made it easier to deal with the names on my door, I guess. Made it easier to watch girls write their phone numbers and leave." And then in your dimly lit living room, you wrapped your arms around his neck and let him hold you. He took a deep breath and let it out before he said, "The drinking definitely made it easier to stand up for Hannah."
"What did Chase do?" you asked softly, as if you already knew what Bradley was going to tell you. Your nose skimmed the collar of his tee shirt as he let his body relax against yours.
"He hurt Hannah when he got drunk. All the time. He hit her and made her cry. He cheated on her all the time too," Bradley said, and you gasped. "He was the only guy in Beta with a girlfriend, and I thought that if that's what having a girlfriend did to you, I wanted nothing to do with it."
"Oh my god," you whispered.
"Hannah was scared of him. I found her crying in my bathroom one night, and I saw the bruises on her. She was sweet, like you, but not sensible. Chase was nice to her when he was sober, so she just stayed, I guess. I don't know."
You didn't pressure him to keep going. You let him gather his thoughts while he rubbed your back through your sweater.
"I started butting heads with Chase and Jeff more, because Jeff was always standing up for him. I saw Chase push Hannah, and he was always calling her a slut and a bitch. When I tried to insert myself in the situation, pretty much all the guys in Beta agreed with Jeff when he said I was just trying to sleep with Hannah. And why shouldn't they believe him? I'm easy, you know? Every other fucking name under the sun was on my door, why wouldn't I want Hannah's there too?"
"Bradley." You whispered his name so softly he barely heard you, but he wanted to finish.
"After Chase busted up Hannah's lip, and she missed a bunch of her classes, I picked a fight with him. I waited for a night when he was in a particularly bad mood, and then I got wasted on purpose. Drank an entire bottle of vodka. It took all of my strength not to fight back. He slammed me around pretty good, and broke a glass table by putting my face through it. Hence the scars."
You were fully in Bradley's lap now, and you were crying. "No, Bradley. You did that for Hannah?" you asked, running your fingers along his cheek.
He nodded gently against your head. "Yeah. Chase got expelled, putting some distance between him and Hannah. She ended up transferring to Florida for her senior year. She and I have stayed in touch. She was always nice to me. I've... never told anyone that I got drunk on purpose. I was like that a lot, so nobody really thought it seemed strange, you know?"
You pulled away from him, and the loss of contact sent him scrambling for your hand. "That's not who you are though. You're not a fighter. And you're not easy either, Beer Boy. You're really, really good."
Bradley wished you'd lay on him again, but he wasn't going to press his luck. At least you weren't asking him to leave.
"I told Hannah all about you."
"Really?" you asked, sounding surprised.
"Yeah. She told me I'm an idiot for what I did. She also told me you're too good for me. But I sent her a picture of my door, and she called me screaming."
A soft smile was touching your lips now, but it faded as you asked, "Who was that girl last weekend? Did you know her?"
He nodded and forced the words out. "Her name is Willow. I slept with her a few months ago. It didn't mean anything. I wish I could take it all back. After Phoebe, I started sleeping around, because I didn't really have anything else," he said with a sardonic laugh and a shrug. "I am sorry. And I would never do that again... to you. If I stood a chance."
Bradley had to swallow the lump in his throat as you pressed your lips together and studied him. "Are you leaving soon? The party is probably in full swing now."
He just shrugged helplessly. "I'll leave when you ask me to, Sugar. I'm not partying tonight."
You licked your lips before you shifted so you were no longer touching him, and he started to brace himself for your dismissal.
"Do you want some pizza?" you asked. "I'm hungry, and I won't be able to finish it by myself."
Bradley just nodded. He would have agreed to anything you said if it meant he could be around you for a little bit longer. He watched you walk to the table to pick up your phone, your skirt hitting the backs of your thighs with each step. He cradled his forehead in his hand, he had no idea what was going on here. This felt like a subtle reminder as to why he shouldn't actually try to date anyone.
He listened to you order a pizza and watched you pace around in a small circle. Then you started to dig around in your wallet, but he jumped up and handed you money. "I got it," he said. But you just shook your head.
"Don't worry about it. And we're not done talking," you said, gently pushing him back toward the couch.
"We're not?" he asked, dropping back down to sit. But you remained standing in front of him.
"No. I want you to tell me, why me?"
"I don't understand."
"I don't understand either, Bradley. Why me? Why do you want me to be your girlfriend? You could get with any girl on campus."
He scoffed. "Maybe physically, Sugar. But that's not the only reason I like you. I already told you... you talk to me like I'm important."
"Oh, Beer Boy. You have no idea."
When you sat down next to him and curled up against his body, he just held you until the pizza arrived.
-------------------------
Both of you sat on the floor in front of the coffee table and ate pizza, but Bradley seemed on edge the whole time. You hated this. Being around him had been so easy before. When you stood up to refill your drinks, you watched his eyes drift up your legs, lingering on your body before settling on your face. You turned toward the kitchen and took your time.
The idea of forgiving him had almost taken over your entire mind. You wanted to. But you also felt like you were just asking for trouble. But when he told you about Chase and Hannah, you really wanted to just wrap him up in your arms and never let go.
When you walked back to the living room, he was standing, hands tucked in his pockets. "Sugar, I'm gonna go. I think I need to go."
Your heart dropped. "Why?" You didn't want him to leave yet.
"This is... I need to... protect myself," he said softly.
"Oh. From me?" You were going to cry if he said yes.
He nodded his head.
You could feel your face scrunch up, tears beginning to sting your eyes. "I don't want you to say that."
"This isn't your fault. I did this, because I am a fuckup."
"Stop it," you said, running your fingers across his scarred left cheek and resting your thumb on his lips. "You're not." You couldn't stand the hopeful look on his face now, so you wrapped your arms around his waist and buried your face against his chest.
His voice was deep and raspy as he asked you, "Can I touch you, Sugar?"
You looked up at his face, his eyes already on yours, but he didn't take his hands out of his pockets until you whispered yes.
His hands found your waist like they belonged there, and you let him hold you. When you pressed a soft kiss to his neck, he groaned.
You felt powerful around him. You always had. He'd given you control. Bradley had given you control. He was smart, but always selling himself short. He was organized, like his mom. He let Chase beat the shit out of him without fighting back. He was very in control of himself, whether he wanted to admit it or not. But over the past month or so, he'd let you control this.
"Do you want to sleep over, Beer Boy?" you asked him.
He looked a little stunned, but he muttered, "Of course, Sugar."
You nodded and led him to your bedroom. "I'm tired. Can we snuggle?"
He laughed softly. "Please."
Without another word, you pulled your sweater over your head and unhooked your bra. He watched you intently but didn't touch you as you got undressed in front of him. Then you grabbed the bottom of his tie dyed shirt and guided it up over his body. He raised his hands in the air without a word and let you take it off. He swallowed hard as you pulled it over your head and ran your hands along the soft fabric. When you climbed into bed, he quickly took off his shoes and his jeans and climbed in next to you.
"Just snuggling," you murmured, but he was already curled up behind you, burying his face in your hair and squeezing you.
Bradley whispered in agreement, but soon you were turning in his arms and wrapping your hands around his neck. That first kiss felt so good, you gasped. You had missed him so much like this. You kissed him again and again until you felt sated, but his hands stayed on your waist on the outside of the Grateful Dead shirt, rubbing soft, soothing circles. Somehow he had become the one offering you some much needed comfort.
"Just snuggling, Sugar," he whispered against your lips. You nodded in agreement, and at some point between kissing him and your whispered conversation, you fell asleep in his arms.
------------------------------
Bradley woke up with his arm pinned beneath you. It was light outside now, but you were still sound asleep. He didn't want to move and wake you, so he just got used to the pins and needles sensation. He examined your gorgeous face, lips parted slightly and breathing softly in sleep. Had you forgiven him? He wasn't sure, and he was going to be too afraid to ask you now.
Today was Valentine's Day, and this moment right now was the closest thing he had felt to love since his mom died. If you let him, he was pretty sure he could fall in love with you. He'd never done it before, wasn't exactly sure of the logistics, but it seemed okay here. So when you rolled closer to him and sighed, he pushed your hair away from your forehead and kissed you.
It seemed easier to ask you something else first. When your eyes opened, a smile graced your lips when you saw him, as if you weren't expecting him to be there but you were happy that he was.
"Beer Boy," you whispered, your voice raw from sleep. You rolled onto him further, and Bradley was thankful for your bodyweight on his and that he was finally able to move his arm.
"Sugar, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked you before he could backtrack or rethink anything.
You examined his face for a moment. His ears were ringing. He shouldn't have asked. You were going to kick him out now. Why was this shit so hard for him?
"Yes," you told him, nodding and leaning up to kiss his lips, gently nudging his nose with yours.
"Fuck," he whispered against your lips. He wrapped you up in his arms. "Can you forgive me?"
"Yeah, Beer Boy, I can forgive you."
Bradley smiled for the first time in almost a week.
a sudden knock on kuroo's door made him jump. he was surprised to see you standing in the rain, completely drenched, but with a big smile on your face. he raised an eyebrow, letting out a little laugh, "why are you out here in the rain?" not answering his question, your smile grows wider. you throw up a peace sign, "guess who just got dumped!" it didn't come out like a question. your smile was stretched wide. unnaturally. kuroo looked you up and down. you hated the way sympathy and pain was strewn on his face. suddenly, he stretched out his arms, beckoning you into his arms. "come 'ere." he said softly, enveloping you in his big arms, your head against his chest. you could hear the steady beat of his heart under his thin shirt. like a dam that could no longer hold the flood, tears poured out of your eyes like the downpour behind you. you shoved your face against his chest in an attempt to muffle the sobs wracking your body. hiccups and shaking breaths escaped you along with wails of sadness that broke kuroo's heart. a selfish part of him told him he should be glad. he's had it bad for you since you became friends in your second year of middle school. but there was no joy in his heart. only pain. he wanted to take all your pain away... to see your smile again - your real smile - again. you didn't deserve this. you deserved someone who would love you unconditionally and not someone who lackadaisically decides to flake out of you whenever he chooses. "I'm ne-never g-gonna find s-someone who-who loves me" you said, letting out another heartbreaking sob, gripping his shirt as another breath wracked you, making you heave breaths rapidly. "I love you.." he said, but he wasn't sure you heard over the deluge. it didn't matter. you were here in his arms. you chose him - out of all the people you could have chosen - to comfort you. and that was enough for now. he squeezed you tighter, kissing the top of your head as he pulled you inside.
oikawa toru "well fuck him anyways! i never liked him." you slam the door to his apartment. he turns to you as you begin shouting, "CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, TORU?! HE HAS THE AUDACITY TO TRY TO BREAK UP WITH ME WHEN I CAUGHT HIM CHEATING!" oikawa is already up on his feet, just as angry as you. "WHAT THE FUCK!? HE CHEATED? OH I'M GONNA GO BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF HIM" "OIKAWA, oikawa, stop, okay? it's.. it's whatever. you've seen the texts. I've had a hunch for a long time anyway." "but he deserves it." "I know, but I'm.. I'm just tired toru. I just can't right now. can we just watch a movie?" he stared at you for what felt like an eternity before beckoning you to the couch. you took a seat next to him. oikawa is a little selfish, so he'd be lying if he wasn't a little glad you broke up with him, not only because that guy is a useless piece of shit, but also because that meant he had an opportunity to show you how good he can be to you - as more than a friend. "well fuck him anyways. I never liked him." he said, pulling you into his arms, lying both of you down onto the sofa as he flicked the tv on, scrolling through shows to watch. he squinted, trying to search for a good one when he heard a sniffle. in his surprise, he dropped the remote onto the floor. "hey, hey, hey.. look at me." you slowly turned your head up to him, your bottom lip jutting out. indents lay in your chin as your lip quivered. "you can cry." and with that, you let out a quiet sigh, and cried into his shoulder. "thank you..." you said. "I'll always be here. you know that. i treat you better than he ever did." he didn't mean to have it come out that way, but you ignored it, too engrossed in your feelings to acknowledge if what he said had any double-meaning.
miya atsumu "I TOLD you that guy was no good!" sorry, but atsumu appears to care more about the fact that he was "right all along" rather than the fact that you broke up with the guy. at least, on the surface. it isn't until you start crying that he feels like a complete asshole for doing a little victory dance in his head when he heard of your split. "I know, ok! I know you were right! but that doesn't make me feel any better. I just feel like a complete idiot." he stopped. "I-i'm sorry. yer not an idiot. I guess.. 've just been jealous this whole time, ya know?" before you had a chance to speak, continued, "'ve like ya for so long. seriously every single time I think about ya since like middle school I've always had to hold myself back from smiling. sometimes when I look at ya I just wanna kiss ya until you forget about that asshole." you stared at him in disbelief. when you finally snapped out of your reverie, you grabbed his hand, leading it to your waist. your other hand went to his neck, pulling him down to kiss you. strangely, the shittiest day ever turned out to be so much more than that - the day you got together with the man who (unbeknownst to you at the time) you'd spend the rest of you life with.
miya osamu "...want some chocolate?" as you sat blowing tissues in his bedroom, he could only stare. to be honest, his only way of comforting was food and physical affection. so he was doing his best to give loads of both. you were recovering from your sobs when he sighed. "....want some chocolate?" his question seemed more like he knew you already did, so when he stood up even before you nodded, you weren't surprised. you followed him to the kitchen where he began to make homemade chocolates like it was Valentine's Day (or white day, I guess). after some comfortable silence, you said, "I feel like... weirdly better now? like, free in a way. i feel like he always had a way of putting me down." osamu let out a grunt. he didn't want to say anything about the fucker that would go too far, but damn did he have to hold his tongue. that asshole was always gaslighting you and was borderline emotionally abusive what with all his manipulation. but bringing that up now would only make you upset. it would force you to relive all of those shitty memories. he took in a deep breath when all of a sudden your arms wrapped around him, your chest against his back. "thank you." was all you said for a while. he nodded. "osamu, I think it's always been you." "....what'da mean?" you only answered with a nuzzle against his toned back, leaving his to wonder what you'd meant, but decided to leave it at that for today. maybe tomorrow you'd be ready to discuss the meaning behind it all.
suna rintaro "good." "I'm sorry, what?" "I said, 'good.'" "that's really mean, rin." "I don't care. I've been waiting too long to give a fuck about that guy's feelings. he had it coming; you should've dumped him a long time ago." "what do you mean?" "you really don't know?" your voice raised in anger, "NO. I don't KNOW, rin." "does this answer your question?" he said, grabbing your cheeks. his lips pressed against yours violently, messily, like he was angry. you stared at him dumbfounded. "I thought you didn't like me like that." he sighed, letting out a disbelieving laugh, "seriously? you literally rejected me." "no I didn't!" by now you'd already forgotten about the break up, instead arguing with suna over who liked each other first, what was a lie, and what was true... I guess suna had his own way of comforting you, but it was also incredibly self-indulgent.
i loved writing this its pure fluff and I got to listen to the album Lover again so tyy🫶✨ hope u like it😔🫡
ps: not proofread😭
ps2: song at the end
----------------------------------------------------
Then
You owned a bakery at the village, the best one some might say, therefore you knew many people. However, your favorite client was Lady Beneviento, her requests were always challenging but pleasurable to make.
You had a deal with the Duke to make deliveries for you, but sadly he had business in another area and couldn't go to the Beneviento State. Usually you would call the client explaining the order wouldn't be able to arrive that day, but…she was your favorite.
That's how you found yourself walking to her house with a basket double the order size as a "sorry i'm late".
Donna knew you were there the moment you stepped foot in her domain. While Angie was celebrating the opportunity to properly meet you, the dollmaker was running around the house trying to make everything perfect.
You didn't even have to knock the door due to Angie opening first. You were righteously startled but quickly recovered and smiled at the doll.
If dolls could smile hers would be the biggest ever. She kept jumping up and down pulling you into the house. "Come on come on come on! Ooh you took soo long I thought you tripped and died!" The doll shouted and giggled.
You chuckled. "Thankfully, I didn't die but I was scared of tripping and I simply couldn't ruin the gift I'm carrying."
Angie suddenly stopped walking and turned to stare at you. "You have a gift?! Gimme gimme." She made hand moves at you and tried to jump into your basket, which you quickly deflected and laughed at her antics.
"Later, I must give it to the Lady of the House first."
She groaned and ran upstairs, leaving you standing in the living room.
Donna heard you, how couldn't she since the woman had been listening ever since Angie opened the door.
The dollmaker was scared but also slightly excited to meet you. She knew Angie would insist she'd accept the gift, there was no way she could talk her way into staying in her room and only watching you the entire evening.
The moment she'd started to feel self conscious, Angie barged into her room and practically dragged her outside.
You could feel your hands sweating when you saw Donna, silently hoping she couldn't hear your heartbeat.
You smiled brightly at her and gently handed the basket. "I know this is more than you ordered, but Duke couldn't make it today and I didn't want to let you down so I came." You shrugged nervously. "Of course that doesn't explain why there's more, sorry. I…um…I've never been here so I thought I'd be late so I did more to apologize." The dollmaker stood still while Angie giggled, making you even more nervous. "It's absolutely fine if you don't want it, I didn't want to-"
Donna cutted you with the raise of a hand. She thought your rambling was adorable but she didn't want to stand there all day. "I want it, I-I like your baking."
You blushed and nodded while trying to hide a grin.
The doll looked between the two of you. "Sooo…can we eat?"
Now
That was the first time you stayed over at Donna's place. Now you were not only living together but completely in love with each other.
You've been teaching her some of your favorite recipes, her hair had some flour from before she grounded Angie for trying to make it snow. You believed Donna was the most beautiful woman you had ever seen, even when she'd frown due to the batter not turning alright.
It was in this simple moment that you truly realized how deep you were. Completely thoughtless, just mesmerized by her. "I really want to marry you."
Donna became stiff as a board, her face progressively getting more red than before. She turned to look at you, her mouth hanging open as she watched you slowly realize what you had said.
You chuckled nervously. "Sorry. I don't even have a ring. Sorry."
Donna nodded slowly and pursed her lips. "Ask me with a ring."
Your eyes shined brighter than ever. You quickly scanned the room and ripped a blank page from the recipe book. You rapidly made a paper ring and presented it to her. "I know this may not be the best proposal. But Donna, I'm deeply and madly in love with you. I never would've imagined we'd go from friends to this but I've never been happier. I would spend the rest of my days getting flour off your hair and running after Angie because she has a knife and then having to lock the knives inside a drawer that she will open again. I-The point is, I love you and everything everyone that comes along. Will you have me?"
Donna smiled softly, tears slowly falling down her eye." Yes, of course!"
Changbin is over the moon these days.
He’s at the top of his acting career, just like he’s always wanted. He’s constantly being invited to award shows and various celebrity parties (he was invited to world-famous actor Hwang Hyunjin’s recent birthday party, so he knows he’s made it to the big leagues.). He’s a humble guy, no doubt, but sometimes he can’t help but wonder how awesome he is as an actor.
His career started when he was around three years old, and he was in a commercial advertising some sort of brand-new juice. He thought it was gross, but his mother told him she wasn’t going to listen to him whine about the fluid being nasty. He sucked it up and completed the commercial without any further fuss. Will he always remember that oddly specific taste so long as he still lives? Of course, but that’s not the point. Ever since then, he became popular, being cast in small roles, such as the child for a couple, or the younger version of the main character, the list goes on and on.
His roles only increased as he got older and his baby face morphed into one of a more mature type. His chubby cheeks remained, but he finally grew into his nose and eyes. He was then cast into more concrete roles with mature characters and themes. He was excited when he had to smoke a fake cigarette when he played Yoojeon, the secondary love interest and the most intimidating boy in school.
But his success didn’t stop at acting, he was also chosen to walk down fashion runways, as well as appearing on the front of dozens of magazines boasting about his fast jump to fame.
As Changbin is relaxing in his penthouse, flicking through endless channels as he shovels some chips into his mouth, his phone rings loudly. He sets the remote down and picks up his phone, the familiar contact name of his manager, coming to view. He immediately picks up, placing the phone up to his ear.
“Hey, kid. Got any plans today?” His manager asks, and Changbin tells the older man no. He had planned to hit the gym for a few hours, but that can wait until tomorrow.
“Great. Come to my office, there’s a script here that’s calling your name.” The man says and Changbin wastes no time in jumping up and slipping on his shoes. His manager knows that Changbin would never turn down a script, he’s simply just high off on success.
“I’m on my way right now! Did you send a car for me?” Changbin asks as he barrels down the stairs of his penthouse, nearly falling to his death.
“Yes, it’s waiting at the front of your complex building. And please don’t rush down the stairs. You remember what happened last time.” The older man scolds.
Oh, Changbin remembers it well. He was excited about a script reading and he misstepped on the stairs and fell straight down to the bottom, breaking his arm in the process. The broken arm led to him missing the opportunity to play the lead role in the movie he was going to be reading the script for. They gave the role to his worst enemy: Moon [Name].
Moon [Name] is the bane of Changbin’s existence. He’s snobby, egotistic, and contemptuous. Changbin hates his guts with his pretty face and great acting skills. Ugh, it drives Changbin up a wall just thinking about that asshole. Moon [Name] loves to make things into a competition, he’s always been like that. It’s always about who can get the better roles or who can accumulate the highest amount of sponsors for just a single role.
If Changbin could drive, he would’ve hit [Name] with this car a long time ago.
Tumblr media
Once Changbin enters the building, he gets the rundown from his manager. His manager tells him the script is a spinoff of the hit movie “Don’t Say Goodbye” starring Han Jisung and Lee Minho. Changbin gets even more excited because he loves that movie.
He remembers sitting in his penthouse sobbing like a baby because Jinhae (Jisung’s character) had died of some terminal illness without his summer lover, Yeohan (Minho’s character) knowing. He cried for days and days after watching the movie for the first time. He then proceeded to watch it six more times. He’s a hopeless romantic, cut him some slack.
Knowing that the script is for the spinoff, he wonders if the characters will be the friend of Jinhae and the brother of Yeohan; Taesung and Yeohei. They were only mentioned a few times in the movie, and it was hinted that they were crushing on each other. Changbin also wonders which role he’ll get, will he be Taesung or Yeohei? If he were to choose, he would pick Taesung. Taesung sounds way cooler than Yeohei.
Changbin arrives at the producer’s building, and he goes to the large meeting room his manager told him to go to. Changbin greets his manager outside the room, and he can’t help but notice the nervous look on the older man’s face. The way his eyes shift and refuse to look at Changbin.
“Hyung, what’s got you all worked up? Is your wife not speaking to you again?” Changbin jokes, but his manager only lets out a huff of a laugh in response. “Hold on, what’s going on? You always laugh at my jokes!”
“I think it’s best if you walk into the room and see for yourself.” The older man says, his gaze still not meeting Changbin’s. Changbin is confused, his strong eyebrows furrowed as he pushes open the door to the meeting room.
When he enters, his gaze falls on a particular body in the room. The person looks up from his phone, his soft [EC] eyes staring straight into Changbin’s eyes. When the two of them realize who each other are, they both speak in unison:
“Oh, fuck no.”
Tumblr media
It’s a few days after that unnecessarily aggressive encounter with [Name], and Changbin is not taking the role of Taesung. As much as he would love that role, he refuses to work with [Name]. Changbin’s manager is desperately trying to convince and bribe the young star to take the role, but Changbin isn’t listening.
“Come on Changbin! This role could be huge for you! You’re already familiar with the storyline, and the director says your appearance fits Taesung’s character perfectly!” His manager cries out, the man slowly getting fed up with his bratty client. “It doesn’t get any more perfect than that!’
“I’ll take that role when [Name] is not my co-star,” Changbin says gruffly, letting out a puff of air as he lifts the heavy metal bar above his head, his bicep muscles tensing with strain. “You know how I feel about that fucking brat.”
His manager huffs and rubs his temples, “Do you maybe, I don’t know, think you’re being dramatic?”
Changbin sets the metal bar on the hooks above him and he sits up, wiping the sweat off his forehead. He fixes his glare onto his manager, his plump bottom lip jutted out, which makes him less intimidating than he thinks. “Me? I’m not being dramatic! I just really hate that pretentious asshole!”
“Changbin, just think about the aftermath if you take this role. You would blow up, even more than you already have. You’re already at the top, but you can go higher.” His manager says to him, hoping those words of encouragement will give him the push he needs.
Changbin thinks about those words, the tension between his brows relaxing just a bit. If he takes the role, his fame would skyrocket, taking him higher than he already is right now. Maybe he should take the role, what if [Name] isn’t the same dickhead he remembers the male being? With a very dramatic sigh, he agrees to take the role. His manager immediately takes out his phone to call the director, leaving Changbin to resume his once-interrupted workout.
Tumblr media
It’s the first day of filming, and Changbin is pretty much vibrating with excitement. He spent the past three days memorizing his lines. He could barely sit still long enough for his makeup artist to complete his makeup. He was itching to film and he had not seen [Name] yet, so today was already faring to be a good one.
That is, until [Name] showed up on set, his hair and makeup finished, his once [HC] hair now hidden under a black wig with purple streaks, the hairstyle in a shaggy cut. [Name] has a lip piercing, a silver ring straight down the middle of his plump, soft red colored lips. He’s wearing a fuzzy wine-red sweater with white cat paws littered around it hanging on his slimmer frame. Changbin tries not to stare for too long, but he has to admit that the piercing suits [Name] pretty well. A little too well, he might admit.
He turns his gaze away before he gets caught staring, and his makeup artist informs him that he’s done. She hands him a mirror, and Changbin barely recognizes himself. He has on green contacts, making his chocolatey brown eyes morph into a soft hazel color. They decided to keep his natural deep brown curls, feeling that they tied Taesung’s character together perfectly. His makeup artist placed a few small fake tattoos on his face, and he really likes how he looks. He feels like a badass motorcycle driver or the rebellious son of a mafia boss.
“You look pretty good, Taesung.” A playful voice snaps him out of his little fantasy world. His face falls when he realizes [Name] is the one talking to him. Changbin hopes he didn’t get caught staring at his sworn enemy. [Name] is standing right in front of him, a cheeky smile on his face. Changbin wishes he could just slap that look off [Name]’s face.
Changbin and [Name] barely managed to finish one scene together before they began arguing. The two are all up in each other’s faces, spitting hateful insults at each other. Their managers exchange a look, the two of them were already used to their client’s childish behavior by now. [Name]’s manager asks for a short break, even though filming had just started no less than five minutes ago. The director nods, not wanting to get in between the quarrel. Changbin’s manager pulls him away from [Name], but that doesn’t stop Changbin from calling the other male a stuck-up bitch.
“Changbin, what the hell were you two even arguing about?” His manager asks, handing him a water bottle, hoping it would calm the male down.
Changbin angrily drinks the water before answering, “[Name] sai–” A pause. “You know what, I don’t even remember.”
Changbin’s manager groans. This was going to be a long filming process.
mrs tillich's hot grandson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your elderly neighbour, Mrs Tillich, is so lovely...as is her grandson.
Warnings: Mentions of dementia in a relative. Elderly relative needing a live-in nurse. Mentions of past military career. Sort of proofread, prone to mistakes. Word count: 1,714 GN!Reader, no use of Y/N.
What's this!? A one shot!? I'm sorry I've been gone for four weeks, I've been hyper fixating on Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (it's taken 20+ years but I've finally watched them).
Tumblr media
Your neighbour, Mrs Tillich, is a ray of sunshine.
She’s pushing on 100, she has a live-in nurse with her, and loves to be in her garden, which was when she usually caught you to have a chat, over the fence you share, usually when you were leaving for work or coming back. Honestly, you had no problem with speaking to her; as you said, she was everything that was good in this world, and she brightened your day.
You suspected she had some sort of dementia; she’s introduced herself to you multiple times, and repeatedly tells you about her ‘very good looking and single’ grandson.
“He’s a strapping young man,” she’d told you one day, giving you a wink. “He’s in the military, you know?”
You always smiled politely and told her that he sounded very interesting and maybe one day you’ll be introduced, but so far, you hadn’t met the guy.
You hope it’s the gentleman who visits her once a month, who gives you a polite nod if he ever catches your eye if you’re in your driveway. He’s a real silver fox and is always dressed so smartly. He makes your stomach do somersaults whenever his dark eyes meet yours. And God, that jawline.
Today’s forecast was sunshine all around, and you decided that it was the perfect opportunity to give your garden some TLC, and maybe even wash your car. You dress in light clothes, accommodating the hot weather outside and you step out. Your long-abandoned gardening tools were in your garage, and you had some old plant seeds from last year, gifted to you from Mrs Tillich. Hopefully, they would still be okay.
After gathering your things, you settle on your lawn and get work picking out the weeds and giving your garden a general tidy up. You bask in the sunlight, listening to the sounds of birds, and cars passing, and the sounds of the Johnson kids a few doors down, having a water fight from the sounds of it.
You’re so lost in your own world that you don’t realise someone has joined you.
“Hi.”
You jump and look up at the source of the voice.
It was him. The silver fox. He was stood on Mrs Tillich’s side of your adjoining fence, his arms crossed, and Christ, is it normal for a shirt to stretch like that over someone’s arms?
“H…hi,” you stammer before you clear your throat. Pathetic. “Hi.”
His gives you a small grin before he holds his hand out. “I’m William. But I usually go by Bill, you can call me Bill if you want.”
You stand quickly and make your way over. You shake his hand as you introduce yourself. You ignore the way your skin tingles as he shakes your hand.
“Nice to finally meet you,” he said, before crossing his arms again. Defensive guy. “We saw you – me and my grandmother – in your garden, and she told me I should introduce myself. She said you were friendly, and ‘single’. I apologise if she’s been a bit persistent.”
So he is the grandson!
You shake your head at his words, giving him a soft smile. “No, not, she’s…not at all. I enjoy chatting to her, she’s really nice.”
“She can be...” he says before going quiet, giving you a look as if he felt sorry for you, but also trying to placate you. “She’s a bit...you know.” he motions to his head.
“Really, you don’t have to explain yourself,” you say, giving a kind smile. “I don’t mind chatting to her, really.”
William nods at you and you both fall into an awkward silence. You bite the inside of your lip as you study him for a second. What do you talk about? You feel like you know this guy pretty well, thanks to your neighbour, but now he’s in front of you, you can’t think of anything to say.
So you blurt out the first thing that come to your mind that you remember about him. “So you’re in the military?”
He tenses, his jaw setting as he stares at you with a hard look on his face.
“Mrs Tillich mentioned you were...” you say, going quiet at the look on his face. “Never mind, I might have misunderstood - “
“I’m not in the military anymore,” William said quickly. “She gets confused, because...you know...” he motions to his head again.
You stand and chat some more before he says he has to get moving. He was nice; a little quiet and reserved, maybe, but polite. And a little awkward. He stared so intently as you talked, and it gave you butterflies. He tells you it was nice to meet you and he heads back inside the house. He sends you a wave goodbye when he leaves a few hours later.
He visits again sooner than you expect, just a few weeks later. He gives you a small wave with the usual nod this time as he pulls into her driveway. You give him a wave back, but you don’t stop to chat. You don’t know when he leaves.
He comes back again a few weeks after that, but you’re not home. You only know because Mrs Tillich tells you about it the next day. She mentions Bill asked about you, causing your cheeks to warm as you tell her, “That’s nice, I hope he’s doing well.”
She actually giggles at you.
He doesn’t visit again for another few months, which was odd. You couldn’t help but ask Mrs Tillich about it, and she giggles at you again. She explains he’d been busy.
“He travels a lot,” she said, but you’d gathered that yourself. “He still calls me every few days.”
When he does come back, you’re shovelling snow in your driveway. He drives carefully up his grandmother’s driveway before climbing out the car, wearing the warmest – and most expensive – looking grey coat. He gives you the nod and a wave in greeting as he walks towards Mrs Tillich’s house, and you give him a smile and a wave back.
Like the last time you saw him, he doesn’t stop to chat.
You can’t help but feel disappointed, and somewhat put off. Had you made a bad impression last time? You had made that comment about the military, and he didn’t seem too happy about it, maybe it was that? But you were only going off the information given to you.
Whatever, you didn’t know they guy, you shouldn’t feel so sad about it.
You continue to shovel the snow from your driveway, trying not to think about William Tell, but after a while, you’re shocked out of your reverie again.
“Hi.”
Just like in the summer, you jump, and you look at him, where he’s stood behind the fence with a small smirk on his face as he watches you, his hands in his pockets.
“Hi,” you say, stopping to face him.
“Been a while.”
“It has,” you say, giving him a nod.
He swallows, and it was so subtle you would have missed it if you weren’t watching him as intently as you were. Surely, he wasn’t nervous?
“I’d like to apologise,” he said after another moment of silence. “For last time. I’ve been told I can be a little intimidating and it comes off as rude. I didn’t mean to be rude.”
You shake your head at him. “I didn’t think you were rude at all.”
He gives an amused huff through his nose. “You don’t have to spare my feelings - “
“No, really, I thought...it was nice talking to you.”
You go quiet, and you stare at each other again in silence.
You can’t get a read on this guy. You can’t tell if he likes you or not. You’re not even sure if you want him to like you. He’s only your neighbour’s grandson, and sure, he’s good looking and has a nice-looking body from what you could see, but really, he doesn’t seem all that interested in you –
“I may be way off base here, and I apologise now if I’m wrong, but would you like to go out for dinner sometime?”
Oh. Maybe he is interested.
“Yes,” you say instantly, without even thinking.
“What?” he asks, his eyes widening a little, as though he wasn’t expecting you to accept his offer.
“What?” you asked back, eyes just as wide, because had you answered too quickly? Were you being too eager?
“You want to go out for dinner with me?” he asks again.
“Yes,” you say, immediately again.
“Okay,” Bill nods, before giving a small smile. “Okay. Okay, great.”
Your cheeks warm as you smile shyly. “Great,” you breathe.
You stare at each other for a while, and your insides feel all gooey. Then he’s looking at you expectantly, but you’re sure you’re just giving heart eyes to him. “So…can I have your number?”
“What?” you ask, blinking at him before your eyes widen in realisation. “Oh, yeah, yes!”
He hands you his unlocked phone and you place your number into it (you’ll deny your hands were shaking until your dying days). You send yourself a quick text and feel your phone vibrate in your pocket as you hand his phone back to him.
“I’m pretty much free most evenings and weekends,” you say, trying not to sound like too much of a loser.
Bill nodded at you with a smile. “I leave in a few hours, but I’ll be back to visit next week, so…I’ll call you later, we can arrange something?”
You nod. “Yeah, that’ll be great.”
He gives you a nod. “I’ll see you later.”
“See you later,” you say as he turns and walks back into his grandmother’s house, but not before he turns back to look at you and gives you a wave.
You wave back.
You can’t stop smiling. And now your thoughts are filled with the forthcoming phone call about your date next week. What were you going to wear? Where would you go? He isn’t from round here, so maybe you could suggest a really good place. You’ll be cool, you’ll be collected, you’ll not throw yourself at him…you say as you shamelessly think about how much of a filthy kisser he might be…
New Girl in Town
Tumblr media
Chapters: 1
Word Count: 2,475
Tags: Cordelia x Reader, pure sapphic fluff, fem!reader
Summary: You moved out of state for a change of scenery, but you figured all you'd find was comfort in a new life far away from your old one. You never expected that you'd fall in love... Let alone with your neighbor that lived directly across the street from you.
A/N: This is a cute fluffy series I've been wanting to start for a while. It's been a hot minute since I've written a fic, so I hope I'm not too rusty. Hope ya'll like it <3
The rays of the morning sun pooled in from your bedroom window as the light seemed to touch every surface of your home. You stirred very gently, though when you realized what was waking you up, you smiled a little to yourself as you remembered exactly where you were.
It had always been your dream to get away from your roots and experience living somewhere completely different. Everyone you’d ever known in your hometown ended up stuck there, and you had always vowed to yourself that you wouldn’t end up the same way. Luckily for you, your dreams had become reality when the sudden opportunity to move clear out to Louisiana opened up to you. You jumped on it as quickly as you could. Before you knew it, you were moving out a week later and all of your belongings were completely settled in your new home.
Not that the house was new; On the contrary, it was a bit run down, as most historical homes in this area seemed to be. It wasn’t perfect, but it was yours. That was all that truly mattered to you.
When you had moved into town, the locals had asked you where you resided. You told them right across from the girl’s academy, and to your surprise, nearly everyone you’d met had given you a look of terror.
“You live there?! Don’t you know how dangerous that is!” One of the seniors had told you.
Another man had said, “Those girls practice devil worship! It’s unholy- Are you crazy?!”
“I heard that one of the girls set fire to the house next door. And one of the others killed an entire bus full of innocent college boys. It’s not safe there!” A local mother had said. All of their accounts seemed so far from reality that all you could do was smile, nod, and thank each person for their concern. You weren’t necessarily religious, so an eclectic all girl’s academy didn’t scare you at all. Until proven otherwise, it was just a school and you were just the woman that lived across the street.
 You finally sat up in bed and stretched your arms upward, yawning and trying to regain consciousness. The move had taken much more out of you than expected. It was a good thing that you didn’t have any plans today considering your mind was a little foggy and your muscles felt completely worn out. Once you felt somewhat like a person again, you swung your feet out from your mattress and stood up to put on something comfortable for the day. Nowhere to go, nowhere to be. The only thing you’d really been sure about was that you needed coffee to function.
 “Mm… Coffee.” You muttered groggily to yourself, echoing your own sleepy thoughts.
 You took your time in the kitchen making a perfect cup before making your way out to your porch. As you sat down in one of the rocking chairs, the warm summer breeze gently brushed your face. You could smell all the flowers in bloom and a family of sparrows chirped happily from overhead. Taking a sip from your drink, you hummed gently to yourself as your eyes fluttered shut for a moment to enjoy this time with yourself. This place was like your own little slice of heaven.
 “Mallory! Wait up, girlfriend!” A shrill, unfamiliar voice cut through your morning like a sharp knife. It was strange that it sounded as if the owner of that voice was getting closer and closer to where you were sitting. When you opened your eyes, you noticed two girls approaching your home.
 “Mallory- You are walking so fast right now! How do your tiny feet do that?!” That same shrill voice said again. It was coming from a blonde woman who was slightly taller than the other. Her friend, Mallory, had slightly darker hair yet both were wearing all black. They almost looked like they were getting ready to go to a funeral.
 “Cordelia is gonna be so pissed if she finds out we’re late to classes.”
 “Since when do you care about being late?” Mallory asked. Her tone was much softer, warmer, even.
 “Well- I… Fair point.” The blonde seemed to shut up for a moment after that. They seemed to know each other well enough to call each other out.
Mallory stopped at the first step to your porch and put on her best smile. She was beaming from ear to ear, and her friend seemed to smile much more awkwardly from behind her.
“Good morning!”
“Uh… Hi. Morning.” You said, trying to be polite but also caught off guard. You wanted to ask them both what they were doing on your property, but they seemed nice enough that they didn’t mean any potential harm.
 “We live across the street! I’m Mallory, and this is my friend, Coco.”
“Sorry to bother you this early in the morning. You looked like you were having your Eat, Pray, Love moment and I told this one to leave you alone.” Coco replied with a small wave.
Before you could get a word in, Mallory cut in, “We both go to Robicheaux’s. There hasn’t been a new neighbor in a really long time from what the other girls said, let alone one that lives right across the street! So, we figured we’d come to welcome you to the neighborhood.”
“We who?” Coco chimed out, “Let’s be clear, this was all her doing. I had no personal investment in this.”
You chuckled lightly at their banter, and it only made you grin even wider. At that moment, you thought about all those people that had told you troublesome girls attended that place and they were all up to no good. Right now, all you could see were two adorable nerds trying to make a kind gesture.
“You aren’t bothering me at all,” You began, “It’s nice to meet you both. I’m Y/N. You can sit down if you’d like.”
“We really shouldn’t-“ Coco tried to say,
“We’d love to!” Mallory cut her off yet again as she made her way up onto your porch. The younger girl sat on the ledge while Coco took the chair next to you. As you opened up the conversation, the both of them explained that they’d been attending the school for a year and that everyone was lovely there despite the aspersions spread across town. They spoke of other girls they went to school with, of what was expected of them, and little anecdotes about their time there, though they never explained exactly what they were studying for.
“Today’s our first day back in session, actually,” Coco explained, “We live at Robie C’s on the off seasons too. A couple of us have become like a chic all girls family like that, which is pretty cool considering we’re all sort of outcasts where we’re all from.”
“I know the feeling. I’m so glad you all have each other.” You replied with a warm smile.
“We’ve talked so much about ourselves. Tell us about you!” Mallory suggested excitedly.
“Yeah, spill it. Why’d you come to New Orleans out of the blue?” Coco urged just as much. You laughed lightly at how intrigued they were, but you caved anyway and started to explain yourself.
“Well, I’m actually from (y/h/t). I was born and raised there, but I never really loved it. I wanted something new and something out of the ordinary since I was kind of an outcast myself back there. My real estate agent called up about an opportunity one day about a month ago, and I hopped on it the second it was offered to me and… Here I am.”
“Good for you for paving your own way. That is so big dick energy of you!” Coco complimented as she clapped her hands together in applause. Mallory clapped along with her as if to agree while all three of you laughed together about the wording. Though, Coco seemed to stop smiling altogether when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. “Shit-” She hissed under her breath. You were confused as to why there was such a sudden change of tone, so you looked in the direction she’d glanced in.
Two new women were approaching your porch; One that looked closer in age to the girls in your company, and one who appeared to be slightly older than all of them. You couldn’t quite make them out yet, but they were very clearly getting closer. “What did I say? I knew this was gonna happen!”
“Surely she’s not gonna be that mad-” Mallory tried to reason with her companion. You were still completely out of the loop so you asked, “Wait- Who’s gonna be mad?”
“Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt! Mallory Montgomery! What have I told you both about running off during Admissions Day?” The older woman said, staying at the edge of the porch. You still couldn’t catch a good glimpse of her quite yet, and it was even harder to see now that Coco had gotten up to block your view. “Ms. Goode, I had no part in this! It was all Mallory this time, I swear!”
“Way to throw your sister under the bus, Coco.” The other girl that accompanied the alleged ‘Ms. Goode’ retorted with a small smirk. She had straighter, darker blonde hair and a very kind smile.
“You have to believe me, Zoe! I was trying to do the right thing this time, I swear-”
“She’s right,” Mallory chimed in as she stood as well now, “It was my idea. I just wanted to welcome our new neighbor, that’s all. We were going to come right back.” Coco and Mallory both left the porch to go stand alongside their peers, and as they did so, you followed slightly behind because you were curious now. “Mallory, sweetie, that was a very kind gesture but please inform an instructor next time so we know where you are. This is the most important day of the year for the academy and you know that- Oh…”
The headmistress seemed to trail off when she saw you, and you felt much the same when you’d finally gotten to see her. Ms. Goode was so stunning that you were sure your heart was going to fly out of her chest. She had such a gentleness about her; Her golden curls rested softly against the frame of her pretty face and her deep brown eyes seemed to glitter when she gazed back at you. She was dressed in a floral, knee length dress that flowed freely around her form which seemed so different from what a normal boarding school head would wear. The look of concern she’d had completely melted away as she gave you the sweetest smile you’d ever seen before. It was a good thing that you’d been holding onto the railing of your porch considering that her very presence was making your knees weak.
“My apologies. I hope my girls haven’t disturbed your morning.” She addressed you with such a melodic tone.
“Wha- Oh! No, no, they’re fine. It was actually a nice surprise to have some visitors, and such polite ones, at that.” You assured her.
Coco, Mallory, and Zoe were all glancing at each other now with matching smirks as they watched you interact with their teacher.
“I’m relieved,” Ms. Goode said as she placed a hand on her chest, sighing as if a weight had been lifted from her, “Not many people are as kind to us here, so thank you for allowing them to your home.”
“Really, it’s no big deal,” You insisted, “You all are welcome here anytime. I’m just happy I have friendly neighbors.”
“I could say much of the same.” Ms. Goode replied. She was gazing at you with such warmth that you were sure you could get lost in her presence for hours. It was as if she couldn’t look away, her smile softening the longer you both stared back at each other and neither one of you wanted to let go of this just yet. You’d never seen anyone as beautiful as her in your entire lifetime and even though you didn’t know it yet, she was thinking the exact same thing about you.
“I uh- I don’t think I caught your name.” You said, cutting through the arising tension that was now hanging thick in the air. The older woman’s eyes lit up as she sort of laughed at herself. “Oh! Where are my manners- I’m Cordelia Goode, Headmistress at Robicheaux’s Girls Academy. And you are?”
“Y/N- Y/N Y/L/N.” As you introduced yourself, Cordelia took your hand and shook it very gently, though she didn’t seem to let go right away. She held it there as her thumb caressed over your skin as if to relish the physical connection she got to have with you in this moment.
“What a lovely name.” She said fondly. There was a sort of dreaminess in her voice that had you in some sort of trance, but the sound of giggling girls cut through that. It seemed to have caught Cordelia off guard just as much as she took her hand away. “I’m afraid I must get my girls back to the academy. Classes will be starting soon, but perhaps we will see each other again soon.”
“Sure thing. You know where to find me.”
Cordelia seemed to chuckle lightly and when you heard such a pretty sound, you realized how much her presence just seemed to shine a light on your whole morning. You hated to watch her walk away from you. There were so many things you wanted to say, to ask, to do just for her, and yet all you could do was stand there and politely wave goodbye. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Goode!” You called out as they all moved further from your porch. The headmistress glanced back in your direction and gave you the brightest smile.
“It was very nice to meet you as well, Ms. Y/L/N.” She called right back. Your name rolled right off her tongue and you swore that when she spoke it, everything felt right in the world.
Maybe the people in town were right. Perhaps that building across the street really was a school for witches. Maybe they’d come over just to put a spell on you with their magical powers. Or, maybe they were just normal women trying to be polite to the new girl in town and all of the rumors were the rambling dramatizations of paranoid, closed minded people. There was really only one thing on your mind now, and you knew that it was absolutely certain;
You couldn’t wait to see Cordelia Goode again. FIND MORE GAY SHIT HERE
Again, trusting Wesley. This is easy af
'Candace is perfection incarnate' Yeah but she's also got pink hair and my man's a CEO like fr he wants a WOMAN not a GIRL.
Okay as predicted, Candace is Cassia's ex (Lucky Candace... damn...)
'If she sees even a small opening with Wesley, she'll jump on the opportunity'.
Um yeah but she's not gonna.
i still have no idea how to fathom that my beef, my crested gecko & first pet is gone, after 8 years together. i woke up yesterday to find he had passed overnight. he seemed to be lively & well the night before, so i'm not sure of the cause. i know i will always wish i could have done more for him, like i had hoped to hand build hides and climbs for him. but i know my goal was to give him as enriching and loving of a life as i possibly could before I even met him.
in autumn of 2015 i decided to get my first pet independently. as a kid I was a huge animal lover, unsurprisingly preferring their company over people. my mom was always excited to nurture a common interest, and jumped on any opportunity she could to get us pets to learn about all different kinds of animals, from our cat and dog, to fish, frogs, anoles, leopard geckos, even a rabbit & a pair of ducks.
i knew i wanted a reptile companion, but i wasn't sure which kind i'd get along with well and be best equipped to care for. i spent hours researching different types of geckos, bearded dragons, and beginner-level reptiles, until i decided on a crested gecko. i'd never seen creatures like them before, and i was floored to try something entirely new, but with Lots of information online to sift through if i was stumped.
late December arrived, and I was ready to find my new friend. I had a starter 10-gallon enclosure for a younger crestie, and plenty of fake plants and hides for him to explore and get acclimated. i opted to get him at a specialty reptile shop about 40 minutes away. i didn't have a name planned going in, and i think i immediately decided on "beef" when I saw it advertised at a deli.
my family was as smitten by him as I was. my sister loves trying to handle him as much as i did. my mom squealed in delight after i encouraged him to run across my laptop and he shat on the keyboard.
the next summer, my dad called me from a pet shop nearly frantic, asking what kind of vertical 20-gallon tank would best suit him. I was so grateful for the gift, stoked that he would have double the space to explore, hunt, and rest, and unexpectedly solving the "beef is arboreal in a horizontal enclosure," problem. his new tank was so large, i had to relocate it from a small unoccupied corner in my somehow even smaller room, to a hub right between my desk and my bed, always within my view and my reach. by then I'd decided to forego handling him, knowing it wasn't fair to cause him extra stress for my own entertainment if i couldn't do it consistently enough to make him comfortable with it. keeping him next to me was a much happier arrangement for us both.
from there, he moved with me to my first apartment. from tiny corner, to tiny corner, to Big sunny corner by a picture window with an unfortunately dismal view. later on i took up gardening and started my indoor hub next to his tank, extending his overgrown habitat until it took over the living room within a few months. the plants have ebbed and grown with the seasons and my ability to care for them. beef has watched me tend to them curiously for a couple years now. i was hoping to incorporate live plants into his enclosure, but I worried about pests, parasites, plant disease, and anything that could have harmed him. experimenting would be exciting, but ensuring his health came first and foremost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
everything ends, and all too soon. i find a vacancy in my chest and the joints in my hands aching, as i've spent a few hours on and off piecing this together. i haven't figured out what mourning looks like for me yet. but I know it's important to share the joy he brought to my life, and hope I could have returned a fraction of it.
i am going to bury him in my mom's backyard later this week, after i can prepare a proper little box for him with substrate, moss, and a heart shaped rock i found for him in the river, so many years ago now. i'm unsure of what to with the salt lamp next to his enclosure; it became his the moment i put it next to his tank and hr plastered himself to the glass wall in an attempt to merge with it. i'm going to handwrite this out and bury it with him.
it's been a difficult adjustment. i didn't sleep last night and i have so many memories to roll through. 8 years is a long ass time, and he's been with me through countless stresses & times of turmoil, successes and efforts, people who have come and gone, and gone, and gone. i wonder how many tears he's listened to me cry and vent to him, i wonder how many songs i invented for him on the spot while preparing a meal for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he will be the first family member i ever get to properly mourn. @ashtastica suggested holding a service to remember him, and I couldn't be more grateful. years ago, ash doodled beef if he were a dragon. the boy seemed to approve of his likeness when i initially showed him. i hope i can write or share with him, just the Tiniest Little Facsimile of how loved and adored he was by people all over the place. I have no idea how many people's lives he touched, honestly. he's always been a silly goober of a man, expertly climbing up but always tumbling down the heights of his enclosure... especially to the delight of our cat-children. from when I found him sitting at the end of my bed in December 2017, my cat doom was always fascinated to watch him play around his tank. in early 2022 Belmont joined the audience, and very recently Alkaline has, too. even in his absence they look for him.
Tumblr media
it helps to share this, and i hope you've enjoyed meeting him through our words, pictures, and encounters. hug and pet your creatures soon, and send em my love too 💞
As a fan of both bnha & jjk, can I ask you somethings?
-which majority of characters will survive if their universe is swithed (jjk charas in bnha verse or bnha charas in jjk verse)
-people in jjk verse have stronger mental state than in bnha verse because the death rate is higher in jjk than bnha (do you agree?)
- from plot and art, which do you think is better (jjk or bnha)?
-dynamics between bakudeku or satosugu, which is written better as a duo? why?
I asked this because in twitter I found a jjk fan and bnha fan have a heated discussion to prove which is better, and that's why I want to know your opinion, thanks.....
I feel like I'm getting tagged in. Excuse me while I stretch before I jump into this. As always, thank you for the ask! ❤️
Tumblr media
Put me in the game, coach!
DEADPOOL
Please. If JJK characters' cursed techniques were quirks, they'd all be alive and going to amusement parks and eating crepes.
In the reverse, Midoriya would be a Yuta like drop in considering all of his techniques, maybe, and most of Class 1A would be wiped. Hell, I think we can all agree there are students in Class 1A that shouldn't even be in Class 1A (this is a Minoru Mineta call out, at the very least). But that's also why Jujutsu Tech has a class size that hasn't exceeded 4 students that we've seen. I could see Midoriya, Shinso (cursed speech user), and Tokoyami (shikigami user) in a class. With Todoroki (legacy family + technique) and Bakugo (Todo-esque brute force regardless of technique) over at Kyoto. I'm not saying they'd all survive but I could see it.
MENTAL ACUITY
I think trauma, or one's ability to handle a breadth of it, isn't based on the trauma itself. Even if Midoriya had never experienced loss, he'd repeatedly experienced the inequities of systemic and social oppression from being quirkless compounded by a dad that seemingly peaced out. Kid took hit after hit before being able to have a shot at his dream which he then slowly realized wasn't as cut and dry as it seemed. He keeps on trucking though.
If anything, I think that most characters in JJK are a belt loop getting caught on a door handle away from losing their shit and becoming curse users because of the higher death toll. The students of class 1A might be slowly losing hope but Yuji is constantly swimming in sea of despair, survivor's guilt, and has a 1000 year old curse whispering obscenities to him. For all intents and purposes, kid should be on a watchlist. And you mean to tell me that Megumi "Watch What These Hands Do" Fushiguro is the picture of mental health??? Nah. Buddy has been looking for any opportunity to take a curtain bow with Mahoraga since day 1. Gojo meant what he said when he had to make sure Nobara was crazy in Season 1 because that's what it takes to be a sorcerer if you want to live. You have to be a little deranged so the losses don't take you down the same path as Geto or breed an even bigger problem by generating a curse. The only easy, breezy, beautiful cover girls in JJK are the villains as they are regularly shown to be leisurely enjoying the beach, soccer, mahjong... all while 16 year olds are fighting for their lives and losing.
WINNER TAKE ALL
Plot
Taking into consideration the fact that we're in late stage My Hero Academia and, at best, half way through Jujutsu Kaisen, I think MHA has it on plot. This take is based on being able to now, with most of the story having taken place, see how everything comes together, though. Bear in mind, even at the end of the story, we still don't know how things are going to play out. I've made a lot of wild accusations though (here, here, here, here, here and, inevitably, more are bouncing around my head). What's funny about this is the fact that, there's not really a question of how it's going to end in the grand scheme. We know that Deku will be triumphant in defeating or liberating Shigaraki. I think, through all his subversion, Horikoshi will still write a story where the good guys win. But the subtler details of how the story will end are what everyone's getting fired up about regarding BakuDeku and if anyone will die.
Regarding Jujutsu Kaisen's plot, as readers, we're still too lost in the forest of the culling games to understand the overarching reason. It's still a 5/5 in my book until proven otherwise but, from what we've seen, Gege Akutami buries details that are pertinent later. His exposition style is uniquely different from Horikoshi's (and Iseyama's for that matter). Moreover, Akutami knows how to illicit rage, angst, tears even in the midst of a multi page description of one man's cursed technique (yea, I'm talking about Hikari). They are a troll with a pen and I cannot take that away from them. So, I'm trusting in the process while also acknowledging that this story is not going to echo that of shonen series' before it. Gege Akutami could very well write the end of the human world as we know it, the entirety of the main cast dead, and I wouldn't even be surprised and I would read every. single. panel. Happily.
Art
Again, it's kind of unfair to compare the refined art of a series with 39 volumes versus 24 volumes especially when they stylistically differ so much. So, instead, I'll say what I appreciate for both.
Horikoshi's unique character design, even going so far as to use different illustration styles where appropriate circumvents the issue of Same Face Syndrome while also adding a lot of dynamic visual texture to the cast. Also, hands are like a big part of the story? Which he's managed to make a focal point where it matters. I will also say that he has, in recent chapters, delved into the horror aesthetic beautifully.
Gege Akutami is just a silly little guy. By that, I mean, there will be these AMAZING spreads or panels. Then, on the very next panel or page, there will be a silly lil doodle and it doesn't even feel out of place. In fact, it's very on par with Yuji as a character. I don't think this story is told from Yuji's limited perspective where MHA is largely from Deku's POV, but, when Gege breaks down the behind the scenes, it's broken down as if it's for someone as simple as Yuji. Stylistically gory but also humorous, there are definitely some chapters that are perhaps churned out faster than others, but the art still speaks for itself.
BATTLE OF THE SHIPS
This is a hard one in the sense that BakuDeku is being explored in real time, at length whereas SatoSugu we've only gotten wisps of even though they are, foundationally, what sets off the entire chain of events that sets the story for JJK. There's something to be said for wanting and I think what makes SatoSugu so compelling is truly the tragedy of it. Gojo lost his only equal, his everything (which Geto never thought himself to be) and Geto lost his everloving mind. MHA's whole story is hinged on BakuDeku but the brainrot for SatoSugu decays so poignantly because, while both series are effectively about child soldiers trying to stay alive, SatoSugu is the after. What happens when youth aren't protected, what do they lose?
FINAL VERDICT
Just because you can read them both in Shonen Jump does not mean they're a monolith.
Considering they aren't actually in the same genre, it makes no sense to compare the two. They may have some similarities. But that's like saying a horse is similar to a cow because they are animals with four legs and tails.
It makes more sense to compare JJK to the other two unhinged stories that make up the dark trio, "Chainsaw Man" or "Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku" because the stakes are the same. Anyone can die. For the most part, there aren't miraculous revivals (like Best Jeanist and whoever else 👀).
A/N: I don't care, I know Nobara's coming back if only for Gege to kill her again.
Orchids
Larissa Weems x gn! oc
the path of poisons masterlist: <- previous chapter [...] next chapter ->
sorryyyyyy! I had no time to write, but here it is! I'll try to write the next for Saturday but not sure I'll manage to do it, and after that I'll be out for 2 weeks, sorry again.
TW: none for this one? Just Larissa being a bit depressed if you squint? And mention of poisoning.
Also, as always, I translate this one afterwards, so there might be little problems with the translation.
Rei stretched out in bed. They'd slept a lot. For most of the weekend, in fact. As her condition had already stabilised when she'd arrived at the hospital, they'd only kept her there for a day, just long enough to do a few tests. But that weakened her, and she still needed rest. That's why he was given a few days off work, which he happily spent sleeping and relaxing. Taking care of his plants, too. They also took the opportunity to reflect on their situation. They looked at their phone. A missed call from Larissa.
Rei called back, and put it on speakerphone while they got dressed.
*Hello, Rei?*
"Yes, Riss, I'm sorry, I was sleeping…" she laughed.
*At 3.30pm?* she laughed at the other end of the handset.
"Yes, do you mind?"
They were rummaging in their wardrobe when a little white fur ball jumped out and ran out of the room. Rei was startled into silence and watched the ferret run out of the room.
*Not in the least.*
"Nevertheless, I'm going to have to go back to normal hours…"
*Are you working on Monday?*
"Yes, I'm better. I've had enough rest as it is, my boss isn't going to be happy if I don't do my lessons, I've already ruined his evening…"
*You gave me such a fright… Don't ever do that again.*
They let out a small laugh as they pulled on a shirt.
*I'm not joking, Rei. I was really scared.*
"Don't worry about me. I know a thing or two about plants."
*mhmm.*
A few seconds passed, while Rei finished buttoning the cream shirt they were going to match with black trousers.
*Would you like to get together today?
They stared out of the window, looking for an excuse not to have to go out. But it was a nice day and they wanted to see Larissa.But the idea of going out, to a café or a park, was already exhausting him.
"Why not, but I don't really feel like leaving the house.You could come…"
*I've never been to your place.*
"Ah, do you mind?"
*No, not at all, what time do you want me to come over?*
Rei thought for a few seconds. They wanted to say "now", but they had to be realistic. She probably had work to do, so she wasn't going to be able to come straight away anyway.
"Whenever it suits you. I'm not planning to move. If you like, you can come round at the end of the afternoon and we can cook together?"
*That's fine, I'll come around 6pm, I've still got a bit of work to do.*
"See you then, Riss, I'll send you the address."
*See you then.*
They hung up and texted the address straight away. Now it was time to tidy things up a bit.It wasn't that Rei lived in a particularly dirty place, but sometimes things weren't tidy. A pile of leaves was piled up on the table in her living room, plants were piled up everywhere, and then there was Belial's mess to tidy up. They sighed, remembering that they didn't even know where he'd gone. But there was no need to despair. The egg technique always worked.
So they went down the small staircase, which only led to a bedroom and a bathroom, and into the kitchen.They opened the fridge door and took out a hard-boiled egg, which they began to peel. Before long, the smell of egg spread through the house, and the little white ferret climbed onto one of his legs.They laughed and grabbed the little beast, which wriggled in all directions."Come here, Belial.He put him in the big cage he used to keep him quiet when he welcomed people into his home. He opened his mouth in the most dramatic fashion and gave a little cry of displeasure.
"Sorry mate, but for the time being I'm putting you in here. Otherwise I'll forget about it and you'll be attacking my girlfriend. But if you're good and she's not too scared of you, which I don't doubt for a moment because you're still very cute, I'll leave you outside."
The animal ran around in circles in its cage, looking for a way to escape, and only seemed to calm down when Rei gave it little bits of egg.
They turned on their computer to put on some music and tidied up the mess in the house, before sweeping up.Soon the house was clean, and they slumped into an armchair with a sigh. Belial scratched at the bars of his cage.
"Yes, you'll get out, but be patient."
They looked at the clock. Almost 6 p.m. Well, she shouldn't be long now, they thought. And they watched Belial moaning in his cage for the next few minutes.
Someone rang the doorbell, and Rei jumped to her feet, then hurried to the door to open it. Larissa was there, in a light grey dress. Rei let her in.
"It's a bit of a mess, sorry, haha."
"Don't worry."
She swept her gaze around the room. The entrance opened onto a living room, with a sofa and a footstool, a television, and a large bay window overlooking a greenhouse. Belial made a little noise that drew her attention to the cage and the little white animal wriggling inside.
"You've got a… ferret?"
"Yes, he's called Belial and he's very keen to get out. If you don't mind I'll open the door, otherwise he can wait a few hours."
"No, go ahead, you can open it."
Rei went to open Belial's cage and he rushed out, then to Larissa. He sniffed her and went to hide under the sofa.
"I think you look good in a ferret."
"You do? Why?"
"I don't know, you… look a bit like a ferret… I suppose."
They laughed softly and helped her off with her jacket. But Larissa wasn't in the mood for laughter. She was worried. She'd nearly been poisoned to death, and she wouldn't wish that on anyone, least of all Rei. She took his hand and looked at him seriously.
"Are you all right?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
They knew what was bothering her and squeezed her hand gently.
"I was so scared… When I saw you unconscious, I… I thought I'd lost you."
"It takes more than that to get rid of me. Luckily Wednesday was there though. Besides, did she keep bugging you? I mean, she seemed convinced I meant you harm."
"She…" Larissa sighed, "She came to see me. She told me you were Avareïda Hydrurga, that she'd had a vision about it."
"And… you believed her?"
She looked towards the greenhouse and shook her head. She hadn't believed her. She already knew. Which wasn't the same thing. But she didn't want to talk about it. She wanted to wait for Rei to talk about it. She wanted to wait until they trusted her enough.
"No. Wednesday is a clever girl, but I can't know exactly what she saw. Besides, I know you're not my enemy, whoever you may be."
Rei squinted. Did Larissa know? Did she know that they were Avareïda Hydrurga? And if she knew, how had she guessed?
"But I don't want to talk about her," she smiled gently, "I don't want to talk about work, and even less about Wednesday. Let's just leave it all on the side for now, shall we?"
"All right. What do you want to eat?"
"Whatever you suggest."
And they prepared a large pizza, while Belial squealed hoping for a piece of cheese or meat. And although Rei had asked Larissa not to give her any, she couldn't resist the adorable look on the little animal's face for very long, and slipped it a piece of cheese on the sly.
"We could eat in the greenhouse," Rei suggested as they put the pizza in the oven.
"Yes, you could show me your plants!
"Er, yes, well, a lot of my plants are poisonous, so you'll have to be careful…"
A flicker of hesitation passed through the woman's eyes, but Rei took her hand.
"We won't be eating next to poisonous plants, don't worry. I've got a place with orchids and ferns, it'll be nice and safe."
She nodded gently, and Rei led her into the greenhouse to show her around. They opened the door. When she stepped inside, Larissa's eyes opened wide. The greenhouse was big, much bigger than she had imagined, bigger than the ground floor of the house itself. It was lit up by small lamps reflected in the glass in the ceiling and on the walls. A small path had been laid out in the middle, and a desk sat on one side, probably opposite a maple tree. A few steps further on, there was a small square in the middle of the path, with a table and three chairs. Around it were orchids, which had no flowers this time of year, but Larissa thought it must be beautiful in early summer.
"Settle down here, I'm going to get the pizza."
Larissa sat down in a chair and held her breath as Rei left. This place was so beautiful, she felt like she was in a dream. Her wide eyes passed over the tiles and the play of reflections on them. They were irregular glass, with little bubbles in them, and not quite straight.
"It's beautiful," she breathed.
"I'm glad you like it.
Rei had returned, a large tray in her hands, with pizza and two glasses of wine, as well as some cutlery.
"It's really beautiful, I love this place."
"Well, you'll be coming here more often."
"If I'm invited by the wonderful host here, I don't mind," she replied with a smile.
"I'll invite you as often as you like. I think you look good in my house."
Larissa let out a small laugh, and Rei handed her one of the wine glasses, which the principal smelled and then tasted.
"However, you'd do much better in my bed."
She nearly spat out her wine. She laughed softly.
"Don't make me laugh when I drink wine!"
"By the way, do you like it?"
"It's very good."
When they had finished eating, Rei accompanied Larissa to the centre of the greenhouse and switched off all the lights. Now plunged into darkness, they could see the stars through the tiles, like thousands of tiny holes in the sky.
"I'd love to see a shooting star…" they said.
"It's not in season at all," commented Rei.
"Is there a shooting star season?"
"Second week of August."
But Larissa scanned the sky anyway, hoping perhaps to see a latecomer from the previous season. But after nearly a minute, still seeing none, she turned away from the black sky.
"Mhm, you're probably right…"
"We'll go and watch the shooting stars together next August."
"I wanted to see one tonight. I wish I could have made a wish," Larissa gasped.
"What wish?"
"I can't tell you, or it won't come true."
Rei dipped her eyes into his, and then moved her gaze to his lips. They slowly moved closer and put their arms on either side of the principal's head, who placed her hands on her partner's hips.
"I want to kiss you," Rei murmured.
And Larissa tried to detect in her eyes whether it was the truth. If Rei, if Avareïda wanted to kiss her. But she couldn't see any lies. There was nothing but affection and desire in Rei's dark eyes. She suddenly realised that the person she would be holding in her arms was the same person she had so brutally hurt so many years before. She had known it before, but at that moment it hit her. And this person wanted her. She wanted to hold her close, to ask her forgiveness, to heal all the wounds she had inflicted.
But Rei hadn't told her yet. So she didn't, and she kissed them hard, and her kiss meant "I'm sorry".
She wasn't sure Avareïda understood.
When she opened her eyes, out of the corner of her eye she saw a manchineel tree.
To learn how to control her visions, Wednesday took regular lessons from Miss Kinswelt. Once every fortnight, she came to her class on Monday mornings before lessons to take stock and ask any questions she wanted. This time, she had something specific to ask. She knocked and pushed open the classroom door. Elizabeth Kinswelt was sitting in her chair in front of her desk, and smiled towards the door.
"Wednesday, I presume? Make yourself comfortable."
"Good morning Miss Kinswelt."
She sat down opposite the teacher.
"Do you know if I can communicate my visions to anyone else?"
"It is possible to communicate them to someone who has the same gift, but not to a normie, or any other kind of outcast."
Wednesday sighed. Of course he did. It would have been too easy.
"So there's no way I can show Weems what I saw?"
The teacher shook her head.
"No way. What did you want to show him?"
"I discovered that Mx Asphodelus was not who he said he was."
"Indeed, he is Avareïda Hydrurga."
Wednesday frowned. Who else knew about this? Could Miss Elizabeth Kinswelt be allied with Avareïda Hydrurga and Laurel Gates, too?
"Who else knows about this? Why didn't you tell anyone? You know very well that Avareïda Hydrurga is linked to Laurel Gates."
"Right. Then we'll proceed with our first lesson. I'm going to teach you how to transmit a vision. Give me your hand."
Elizabeth stretched out her hand on the desk, and Wednesday placed it on it, a little wary.
"A vision is transmitted by contact, once contact has been established, you have to think about the vision, and how to transmit it. It's quite simple, but it requires concentration."
Wednesday's head tipped back as she found herself propelled into Elizabeth's vision.
Larissa Weems was lying on the floor and Wednesday recognised the moment. It must have been just after she left. She was about to leave when the door opened. Avareïda Hydrurga entered. They moved forward just before stopping in front of the main one and taking a breath.
"Atropa Belladona, lethal dose," she heard him whisper.
And then she took a syringe and a small vial out of her jacket. From a distance, Wednesday couldn't see what was written on it, so she went closer and managed to read "physostygma" before Rei put the vial back in her bag.
"Rissa, Rissa, why is it my job to save your ass?" mumbled the teacher before plunging the needle into Larissa Weems' neck.
Then Wednesday found herself back in the classroom. She could hardly understand what was going on.
"This is why I trust Avareïda Hydrurga. They saved Mrs Weems when she should have died if no one else had.They wouldn't have done it if they were on Laurel Gates' side. I don't know if he's some kind of double agent pretending to work with her, or if someone is pretending to be him, but I'm sure he's not an enemy."
.
.
That day, Wednesday seemed more pensive than on other days.She was going to have to have a chat with Avareïda Hydrurga.
Thank you!💖💖💖
This came to me in a dream! I hope you like what I thought of😊✨️
Tumblr media
You had stopped at an Inn for the day. The Hyrule you currently were in was unknown, and upon asking around, it seemed to be a peaceful period of time.
No one knew about a hero or a princess or any evil in general. The villagers didn't even know what monsters were.
The group, including you, had tried to gather as much information as you could during the morning. But as you met up at the Inn again, you quickly realized that there wasn't anything useful to know.
Following Time's orders, you'd be spending the rest of the day here and keep traveling once the sun rose tomorrow morning.
"Well, that was a waste of time." Legend complained as he searched around in one of his many pouches, pulling out a few items shortly after.
You stretched your arms over your head, making a few joints pop in the process. "At least we've got the rest of the day off, Vet. You're way too pessimistic."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He waved you off, strolling into the Inn, probably to catch up on a few hours of sleep. Sky, Time, Warriors, and Twilight following him into the building.
Meanwhile, Hyrule, Wild, and Wind seemed to prepare for some more exploring, always hungry for new adventures.
But one of them was missing. With your brows knit together, you gave the area a once over, looking for Four.
Having done a complete 360, you jumped, a yelp leaving your lips, when you found him standing directly behind you, a grin spread over his features.
"FOUR. By Farore's grace. You scared the living daylights out of me!" Heaving out a heavy sigh, you placed a hand over your chest, feeling your racing heart calm back sown slowly.
His grin turned slightly guilty, before the excitement seeped back in. "I'm sorry it wasn't my intention to scare you. This is just the perfect opportunity for something I've been wanting to do for a while."
You raised a brow with a questioning expression. "Perfect opportunity for what?"
"Come on! I gotta show you something!" Four practically vibrated in excitement, catching your wrist and pulling you along, away from the village towards the forest.
"Four, where are you taking me?" You couldn't hide the giggle in your voice. The young hero's good mood was simply too contagious.
Four just shushed you with a smirk, leading you towards a little clearing within the trees. He looked around a little before squatting down in front of a little tree stump.
"Cone here!" He waved you over, his hands now closed around something.
You eyed him suspiciously. "You're not gonna throw a bug at me, are you?"
"Who do you take me for? I'm not Wind." He snorted and kept on beckoning you over. "It’s nothing bad. I promise."
Huffing air out of your nose, you smiled and approached Four, who now held one hand out for you to take. You gently laid your hand into his, letting him pull you down on his level.
Upon taking a closer look, you audibly gasped, only making Four smile even more.
"So you can see them?" He asked, holding his cupped hands out towards you.
Wide-eyed, you stared at the little creature in his palm. It somewhat resembled a mouse with its tiny stature and small button eyes.
Reaching out a single finger, you carefully neared the tiny animal. It stuck out his little paws, taking your finger, sniffing on it.
A breathless giggle left your lips. "What is it? I've never seen something like this." Your eyes found his, filled with wonder.
"This is a Minish." He let the creature hop into your palm to let you admire it further. "Only good people can see them."
"Wow..." You were at a loss of words. "Four, I don't know what to say." Your gaze caught his yet again, a gentle smile on your features. "Thank you for showing me. They’re amazing."
Four cleared his throat to get your attention again. "I could get us some food, and we could stay here until sunset?" A hopeful gleam in his eyes.
You nodded excitedly. "Thst would be great."
You waved him off and gave the tiny Minish in your palms your undivided attention. It was adorable, pawing at your fingertips, playing with it when you wiggled one finger, catching it with its tiny hands.
When Four came back he almost dropped the bag with the food he had gotten.
Right there. In the middle of the small forest cleaning, you sat, surrounded by Minish.
They were in the grass next to you, in your lap, on your palms, even on your head. Some hid inside your hair and atop your shoulders while you giggled, wiggling your fingers at some of them.
With the way the sunlight hit you just right, you looked ethereal.
Four audibly gulped when your gazes met. You smiled brightly at him. "Four! Welcome back! Look! When you left, so many Minish came out! Oh, they're wonderful!"
"No, you are..." He whispered so you couldn't hear and placed his bag down, sitting mext to you, cross-legged. As soon as he sat, some Minish instantly migrated toward him.
You ate together, sharing a good portion with the small creatures around you until you were so full you didn't want to move anymore.
Leaning your head onto Four's shoulder, you observed how the Minish interacted with each other.
"Thank you for showing me this, Link."
His arm wrapped around your shoulders, squeezing a little, a gentle smile stetching across his lips. "It was my pleasure."
This was what you could only describe as the perfect day.
Cuddling with the one dear to you, surrounded by newfound, little friends.
thoughts and feelings about the Netflix's Live Action Avatar, now that I've finished:
overall, net positive! as i said in my previous post about the first 3 episodes [x], i'm someone who goes into adaptations with minimal expectations, treating it more like fanfiction, so I can spend more time enjoying myself than being a butthurt baby, so with that in mind i can say that I enjoyed myself a lot! there are episodes that i'm actually really excited to rewatch (5 and 6 are bangers and i won't be told otherwise)
i'm not going to lie and claim that any of the actors will be winning Daytime Emmys, but there were a few standout performances for me at least:
-Zuko was incredible. i love the way this version leaned into Zuko's desperation to capture the Avatar, because now he finally had a real chance of being able to come home after all these years. his acting pre- and post-Agni Kai in the flashbacks felt so sincere. his optimism was adorable before the war meeting and his shattered expression after Ozai banished him was fucking heartbreaking.
-i really loved the boy who played Aang. he was so charming and cute! and i think as the episodes went along he gradually got better at displaying more subtle emotion. for such a young child actor i thought he was doing amazing
-Sokka's actor was putting in work in the back half! i was impressed! the first half of the show I was pretty neutral about Sokka's acting but the more development he got the more I appreciated what his actor was bringing to the table. i think he just needed to be paired with the right acting partners in a scene to bring out the best of his abilities. Katara didn't give him much to work off of, but his scenes with Sai and Yue really hit
-Zhao was great too! they really re-worked his character to be a lot more important from the jump and i loved seeing how underhanded he was being during all of Zuko's quest. normally seeing Zhao on-screen just annoys me but i loved this version and how patronizing he was to Zuko
-idk man every time Gyatso was on screen I was crying. that's just how it is. every time i saw his face it felt like a warm hug
i think the weird part of this adaptation is that the parts that were adapted were pretty mid (or sometimes just bad) in a lot of cases, but whenever they added in their own original ideas it really shined! i feel like that's not the case with a lot of adaptation, people want to see what they know, but honestly if they added in more of their own original writing in s2 I would not be mad because i loved what these writers were bringing to the table (for the most part)
-i've already said that the way they structured ep 1 to include the start of the war was awesome. that was a cool change to show the audience from the jump that they weren't planning on boring everyone with a one-to-one(but worse) adaptation. it also set the tone really well bc my GOD do firebenders be setting people on fire in this show
-big fan of the early inclusion of Kyoshi and the idea that Aang can only convene with past Avatars at their temples. that was not a Hard Rule in the original and it always felt weird to me that sometimes he needed to be at a certain place on a certain day to communicate with his past lives but then in the finale he just had to meditate wherever he was. but yeah, they used Kyoshi lore from the novels and did indeed lose my mind about it
-Zuko and the 41st division. that was SUCH a cool storyline that was woven in starting at episode ONE and i was genuinely impressed with how hard it hit. i didn't see that coming and it had me CRYINGGGG. so yeah, BIG thumbs up for that original storyline. and also they inclusion of the post-Agni Kai Zuko recovering in the hospital and getting banished for claiming that maybe the weak just need the opportunity to get strong. heartbreaking, devastating on its own (Zuko's actor truly was killing me, i loved him so much) but once we see Zuko and Azula start going toe-to-toe next season that line will hurt me even more
-the bonding moment about calligraphy between Aang and Zuko was a really good bait and switch. in the original Blue Spirit episode Zuko didn't talk to Aang at all before firing at him. i like that i was expecting it to play out the same way as before but instead they had a moment of connection before Aang triggered Zuko and all potential for empathy was lost.
-which seems like a good time to address Zuko's character. i want to be clear when i say that i liked something because it was different from the original, it doesn't mean that i like it BETTER than the original. i simply think the new version is fun fanfiction that was written better than i expected. so when i say i like how they dealt with Zuko's obsession with honor, i'm in no way implying it's superior to the original. simply a good different
-anyways. in the original, Zuko's obsession with honor is fully connected to his need to be wanted by his father again. OZAI is the only one who can restore it, and it can only be restored by completing an impossible task for him. in the Netflix version it almost seems like Zuko's honor is tied to the disillusion that the Fire Nation itself is honorable. the bit about Lieutenant...Yi? sorry i'm getting his name wrong, but Lieutenant Yi gossiping about a superior officer, Zuko's disbelief that the Fire Nation would ever use such underhanded tactics like planting spies in Omashu, it was clear to me that Zuko bought into a rigid sense of morality and honor when it came to the Fire Nation. i hope we see more of that in s2 so that we can see Zuko's world truly rocked when he and Iroh become refugees
-Katara being hailed as a master was very sweet! i wish she would have gotten SOME training from Paku (could still happen at the start of book 2) but I did enjoy that during the Siege of the North that she got her own little battalion to command bc she was seen as worth warrior
-OH and I love how they explored Sokka's character. again, them taking out Sokka's blatant sexism didn't bother me, so i was happy to see that in taking that out they DID work hard to make Sokka's character motivations rich and meaningful. having him have the same complex about being a lacking warrior as the original cartoon but with the added twist of overhearing his dad's harsh words about his abilities really added something to Sokka's insecurities. i loved the inclusion of Sai encouraging Sokka to become an engineer because it was clear how much that meant to him. considering in the cartoon he does become a pretty badass warrior (while still being mainly an Idea Guy) i wonder how this storyline will play out later. if he'll try harder to fit into the warrior box he thinks he belongs in or if he'll blatantly begin to reject that role for himself and identify more heavily with his engineer side
-the cave of two lovers had me worried for a second because Sokka and Katara were paired together for that and im like UMMM so i thought it was pretty funny how they reinterpreted "love is brightest in the dark" in that scene. not as good as the original, obviously, but a funny reinterpretation that i didn't hate
i probably have more to say on the additions but this is getting long so i think it's time to get to some criticisms. this show was not perfect by any means and i have several gripes with it so i might as well get that out now
-WAIT first i must say that a lot of the bending looked phenomenal. particularly Zuko and Aang's bending. both actors (and their stunt doubles) were great martial artists and the fire effects and air effects were done really well. i was really worried about how they'd adapt airbending (since air is invisible) and they did a great job adding in dust cloud effects and making sure the props in the scene moved they like would if they were blasted by air
-AND i must emphasize that i was not mad at them chopping up storylines and mixing them together. the Mechanist/Jet plotlines had similar themes of seemingly Good People doing unethical things for what they believed to be a good cause, so putting them in the same episode made sense to me. and having Sokka and Katara getting spirited away and caught up in that mist (a fun LOK reference that time, i loved the easter eggs) and then captured by Koh was a good way to separate them from Aang the Blue Spirit arc could take place. that also made sense to me. people who get mad about the re-shuffling of episodes frustrate me to no end.
okay, now onto critique:
-unfortunately, Iroh was a giant flop. i don't know how else to say it. i didn't really like any part of him, from his costuming to his writing to his acting. something about him felt like he was plucked out of a campy low-budget stage play and just thrown into this show while only know his campy stage play lines. both Zuko and Zhao give pretty grounded, emotional performances and Iroh is SO jarring by comparison when he's in the same room as them acting like a caricature of himself for no reason. his wig was terrible, i wish they had made it more flowy because it stayed the same shape and position the whole time, he used the WEIRDEST announcer voice the whole time (like why are you using a voice?? no one else is using a voice??), and his robes seemed out of place when everyone else was wearing leather armor. and they had a moment in episode 4 where an Earth Kingdom soldier really laid into him because back when Iroh was a general he was responsible for the death of Earth Kingdom soldier's brother. i was interested to see this bc we BARELY get to see Iroh's Bad Side in the cartoon and i was curious to see where the live action would go with it. but it ended with Earth Kingdom soldier slugging Iroh or slapping his face or something and Iroh made some snoody remark about how war changes people, and he WASN'T talking about himself. like bro this man just told you you COOKED his brother alive he has earned the right to slug you, what are you talking about! i was expecting remorse, or at the very least a solemn look of guilt over the person Iroh once was, but nothing. it was bad. obviously having the iconic Uncle Iroh be so terrible is a huge mark against the show. i simply cannot defend that
-circling back to Iroh's wig. well. the hair and make-up department went out of their way to make important characters look like their cartoon counterparts and that was not always beneficial. why did Yue look like she was from Whoville. who okayed that.
-many people have already pointed it out, but it was weird in ep 1 that Aang's decision to leave was because he needed to clear his head, not because he was running away from his responsibilities. i have no idea why they made this change, unless the reason was to have every single person (including past Avatars) dog on Aang for not being around during the past 100 years. but even that doesn't hit the same bc it truly wasn't his fault! he went for a drive and got caught in a storm! he intended to be back in a few hours! idk that change didn't make sense to me. i know Aang felt guilt regardless but the guilt was supposed to be from the intentionality of Aang running away
-the way Katara broke Aang out of the iceberg was weird?? she wasn't angry at Sokka for his sexism, but she could have been angry at him for SOMETHING that caused her bending to grow out of control. or at the very least when she was bending the canoe towards her she could have done a sharp pulling motion towards her that ended with her arms behind her, therefore forming the cracks in the ice (kind of a callback to how in the pilot Katara could really only waterbend backwards at first). instead her hands were fully facing forward and she was gently bending in front of her and that led to the ice sphere exploding behind her. its been bothering me. whyyy
-character-wise, Katara was pretty one-note. like the addition of her guilt for getting her mom killed with her subpar waterbending, while not bad, didn't make up for how much she DIDN'T have going on. it felt like they toned down a lot of Katara's character strengths AND flaws to give Sokka more room to arc, then shoved all of Katara's development into the last 2 episodes. they didn't show much of her resilient hope in the face of adversity or rage towards injustice or how petty she could be. part of this could be her actor, who i won't dog on because she is a child actor who will get better with time, but i don't think the flimsy writing of her did her any favors
-score wasn't nearly as good as Jeremy Zuckerman/The Track Team's. remixing some of the A:TLA's score doesn't make up for the fact that all the original scoring in this adaptation was flat by comparison
-Bumi's whole thing was....weird. i didn't mind at first that they speedran through his reveal because i don't think there's a point to try and surprise the three people who haven't seen the original. 99% of the audience knew the King was Bumi, so I didn't see any problem with that. but the set-up flashback of Bumi lasted like 10 seconds and basically just showed him snort. it didn't give you a reason to get attached to him as Aang's past friend. and his current actions didn't help at all. the acting was very Michael Meyer's Cat in the Hat-esque. so. uh. SCARY AND OFFPUTTING. was not a fan of that all. and having him do a few random goofy tests for Aang AFTER already knowing his identity felt...weird? like what's the point of these now? and then having the reveal that he's NOT kooky, he genuinely IS pissed at Aang for being gone, well. hmm. it's not a bad idea in theory. i liked the concept of having someone FROM THIS TIMELINE (looking at you, Kyoshi, Roku, and Kuruk, and your unjustified rage toward Aang) be upset at Aang for leaving the world in such a state of imbalance. having Bumi be like DO YOU KNOW ALL THE SHIT I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH SINCE THE WORLD HAS HAD NO AVATAR, was an interesting line of thought i could have rocked with, butttt.....idk man. it's BUMI. he's supposed to be a living memory of Aang's past to give him comfort and wisdom! it hurt to see this version be so cruel to Aang and basically force him to try to kill him just to prove a point. i would have rather had them write out Bumi altogether and use that episode for something else than to smear his name like that
-i'm tentatively alright with Azula's plotline right now. the Zuko line "Azula was born lucky, I was lucky to be born" is really essential to how their rivalry worked in the cartoon. Azula was a cold-hearted prodigy while Zuko was compassionate boy but average bender. i liked the idea of showing how Ozai intentionally pitted his children against each other. i liked seeing Azula's moment of defiance where she claims she's DONE being tested because she know how good her abilities are. i liked seeing the origin of her lighting bending. all of those were cool fanfiction. the thing that worries me is that we, the audience, have already seen Azula's doubt in herself, something we weren't privy to until the very end of the series. plus showing how hard Azula trains kind of undercuts the fact that Zuko is supposed to think he can't measure up to her because of her natural abilities that he DOESN'T have. they DID plant the seed to Zuko that Azula was the one backing Zhao the whole time, so we do have some of their rivalry primed to go. but the rivalry in the original is extremely one-sided. it will be odd to see Azula fighting just as hard to earn Ozai's affection, because intrinsically she should think that game was won a long time ago. so yeah. i'm not mad about it YET, just interested to see how it plays out
and then there are little nitpicks that could be resolved in season 2, should it get picked up again
-Aang not learning any waterbending or burning Katara with firebending can be woven into the early eps of season 2 before Toph's introduction
-the gaang's chemistry will only grow stronger with time. as the cast becomes better friends, as the kids become better actors with age, and considering they don't separate much in s2, i have faith that will iron itself out naturally
-tbh im sure there are more but this is so long i'm fizzling out. i'm fading. i must stop.
but yeah! good and bad! there's lots to unpack but in general i think it was fun. i'm excited for more.
