downton downstairs and how they eat their toast:

carson: lightly toasted with a very thin layer of butter on top. look me in the eye and tell me he'd like it done any other way.

mrs hughes: not the biggest fan of toast. prefers scones, but when she absolutely has to eat it, she likes it toasted with jam only. she is eventually influenced by mr carson and puts minimal butter before she slathers it in strawberry jam.

mrs patmore: toast connoisseur; she has to be the one to crisp the bread and will not eat it otherwise. butter and preserves are the way to go. in a modern context she is a marmite lover; not a huge fan of crusts though

thomas: eats it plain with absolutely nothing on it. will put parsley butter if available though (but it never is so the mystery of whether thomas actually puts condiments on his toast remains very much intact). avid marmalade hater.

o'brien: would be gluten-free in a modern context. does not enjoy toast. don't even think about giving her some she will bite your hand off

william: he likes english muffins. if forced to eat toast he nibbles at it until it vaguely resembles an English muffin.

gwen: cuts the crusts off her bread and gets the most bombastic side eye from mrs p. liker of marmalade and heckler of daisy's anti-marmalade stance

anna: does not toast her bread and likes a thin layer of jam, so long as it doesn't overpower that taste that makes bread, well, bread. likes scones more but isn't excessively picky about it. will occasionally pop scrambled eggs onto her toast, and gets mr bates into it.

mr bates: toasts his bread, and puts butter and jam in even quantities. apparently he is a liker of marmalade, but this was only said in response to thomas' denouncement of it at the table. does he actually enjoy it? we'll never know. crust enjoyed. as mentioned above he puts scrambled eggs on his toast every once in a while.

daisy: very particular about how it's done. she wants untoasted bread, lots of butter, and lots of jam, but not too much of either condiment or it'll make her sick. she despises marmalade and would actually cry as a child if someone forced her to eat it. always eats her crusts, and will eat toast as a midnight snack. she's clearly a fan.

ivy: no crusts, no toasting, no butter, and just puts jam. fights with daisy sometimes about their stances on how toast is supposed to be enjoyed. eventually caves and starts toasting it.

alfred: did not inherit his aunt's genes and is a huge fan of bread. he will literally talk to you for hours about baking bread and how much butter is too much butter. will literally not shut up about toast. eats it with what he believes is the golden ratio of butter (it isn't).

jimmy: likes it a little burnt. that's it he has no other preferences

ms baxter: anna got her scrambled egg thing from her. ms baxter is the original inventor of scrambled eggs on toast actually she patented the term

mr molesley: huge toast enjoyer. initially very adamant that it should be eaten with just butter but changes his ways after ms baxter comes into his life <3

it’s cheesy! it’s short! it’s off topic! it’s unedited! it was written on tumblr mobile by an idiot who should be doing her irish homework because it’s ten o’clock at night! but i love stiles and i frickin adore kenz so here it is!!!!!!

“You’re so pretty.” He hums, tucking the loose hair behind your ears and cupping your jaw in his calloused hands.

Your cheeks are burning, and your gleaming eyes avert his lovesick gaze as he beams at you. Beneath the flickering orange hue of the street lights, he glows. Truly. So much so that it irritates you a little bit.

Besotted. Enamoured. Infatuated. Beguiled. There’s not a single word in the English language that could convey what you felt for him. So, despite your better judgement, your eyes lock with his twinkling ones, and you grin. Bright and lovestruck.

His warm hands caress the sides of your neck, smoothing up and down the flesh slowly; making you want to melt into one of the tiny puddles littering the cement beneath you. You breathe, unsteady and unsure; and then you say it. “I love you. A lot. So much.”

It’s his turn to smile, and it’s elated and cheery; you want to say it again, you’ll say it at the start of every sentence as long as he keeps looking at you like this.

“She loves me. You love me.”

You pout petulantly, a groan of pure humiliation and displeasure tumbling past your lips. “Forget it. I take it back.”

“No way! You can’t take it back. You’ve told me now, it’s a done deal.” His arm wraps around your shoulders as he walks you back to his jeep, and you curl into his flannel clad torso; linking your fingers through the hand dangling from your shoulder.

For once, it’s quiet. It’s calm. There’s no supernatural creatures trying to murder you (that you know of), no cold cases to crack or trigonometry homework to do. For once, you can breathe. He presses a kiss to your temple, pulling away to open his car door. This takes him a little while, Roscoe isn’t known for being easy to manage. Once the car door is wedged open open and you’re both inside, he speeds off.

You check the time. 10:14. You told your mum you’d be home by eleven. You have time.

“Hey, baby?”

You hum serenely, you love when he calls you that.

“I love you more.”

Okay I understand where people are coming from with the "emotional suppression in Vulcans is learned not genetic" talk re: "Charades" but, consider......... the emotional suppression is muscle memory, and the aliens took away the mental muscles that remembered how to do it. It's a crude metaphor on my part, but that was the way I saw it.

Also consider: it's a sci fi show using extremely high-concept bullcrap science on a weekly basis and maybe nitpicking it is a fruitless endeavor because none of it is going to make sense otherwise and enjoying the ride for what it is is a much more enjoyable way to engage with this franchise. Sometimes you need to shrug and let dumb things happen and laugh.

Maybe this is a hot take as a Vax’ildan stan

but i truly don’t want him to come back and here’s why.

1) I think it’s lazy writing. Vax’s story ended years ago there’s no need to bring him back to a story or world that he’s not apart of anymore.

2) Vax was brought back numerous of times and this was his final moment, the whole crew cried hours he had a huge speech and now that’s gonna be pointless and a waste of energy that even happened if you bring him back.

3) I want him to be with Keyleth but what good is that going to do? Let her have happiness for a few years and then take it all away from her again? She’s going to out live him anyway, he’s going to die again and she’s going to be miserable again. She needs to grow and move on now .

4) Vax won’t be the same Vax’ildan he’s been through hell slaving for the raven queen and he’s not going to be emotionally okay for the real world, real people all over again. So more added Hell for Vax , Vex and Keyleth ! (tho i enjoy angst so.) Vax is going to revisit a world that moved without him, his twin is no longer his twin, everyone’s older and different.

Idk i just think Vax should stay dead and if Matt really brings him back after everything just so he can be with an NPC then that’s lazy writing 🤷🏽‍♀️ unless Liam gonna play him in the next campaign leave that GUY DEAD!!! Bringing him back makes his death scene less emotionally impactful.

I just noticed something about some of the actors in Granada Holmes.

A few of the actors (I've only noticed two so far) starred in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

Charles Gray, who plays Mycroft Holmes (and was first introduced in the The Greek Interpreter episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes), also played The Criminologist in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

While watching the The Norwood Builder episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, I noticed that Jonathan Adams portrays Jonah Oldacre. Jonathan Adams plays the role of Dr. Everett Scott in Rocky Horror Picture Show.
