There are only so many fanfics that use the entirety of DC as cardboard cutouts to prop up bat family characters that I can read before I go berserk.

I swear to god. Every character that has ever been shipped with a bat or coexists on the same team as a bat is owed an apology.

How many Young Justice fanfics that solely revolve around Tim must exist? How many Titans fanfics centered only on Dick? Why is it a herculean task to find a Justice League fanfic without Bruce as the main character?

And then even when you do find a fic that seems like it's balanced, everything still revolves around the bat. Like Kon, Cassie and Bart have nothing else going on in their lives except Tim and Tim's issues or thinking about Tim. Like Donna and Wally and Roy just cannot function if they aren't spending every waking moment thinking about Dick.

I'm... Guys. I'm at my limit. I swear to god. We need to make a Batman tag and surgically remove all these fics and quarantine them there. We'll keep the actual DC fics and they can do whatever the fuck they want in their own tag. It's getting ridiculous how hard it is to find fanfic that's actually DC related and isn't just 'The BatFam Show'.

Like Rita, Maple tends to overwork themself. The only difference is that Maple's workload is more voluntary and their inability to say "no" at times compared to Rita's King and Chief Justice duties. Rita and Morfonia take a while to notice until Rita had to run out and catch Maple from falling off the radio tower from exhaustion. Since then, Rita assigned one of the castle employees to keep track of Maple's workload so they won't overfill their schedule again.

It doesn't really work until Chapter 2 when Rita found Maple overworking themself after the 5 Kingdom Reclamation Arc helping with repairs. They already began seeing Maple as a possible friend and younger sibling by then so they gave Maple a stern lecture and to remind them about proper work-life balance before yelling at the employee for not doing their job. They even allow Maple to nap in the throne room between jobs as long as there aren't any court hearings. Otherwise they'd tell the handyman to sleep in one of the guest rooms.

#Maple never calls Rita by name when speaking to them. Rhysand looks up towards the apex of the hill; soldiers loom above them like a dark treeline. A forest of armour and spears anticipate the attack, waiting for the signal for them to attack or defend, whichever will earn them the victory. Their eyes shine with an unnatural light, shiny baubles that drink in the minimal light and reflect it back to the Night itself; neither Faeries nor humans can do that. Above them looms a giant, perched on a jagged rock. He stands, tall and muscular—a god amongst mortals. He watches them with glowing emerald eyes. Then, he drops.

Across this waking graveyard, Rhysand watches the ripple of flesh overtaking fur and the cascade of unmistakable golden hair. He stands out among the steel, iron and ashwood, a beautiful thing in an ugly place. It catches his breath, filling him with awe. Tamlin is… wonderful.

Of course, Rhysand laughs to himself. Of course, he would find that child here in the middle of a battlefield. Except, he isn’t so much a child anymore. He is something so much more, now, and he cannot decipher whether it is a blessing or a curse upon his being.

The sound of Tamlin's paws hitting the ground thunders across the battlefield. The Faerie beast rears his head back and howls. It is a war cry unlike any other. The men beneath him roar in turn, raising their weapons, summoning their magic and charge.

The two of them come from opposite worlds, a giant beast taking out dozens at a time with no precision, only violence, and the shadow of death itself, hunting those whose time has come.

Tamlin is the blazing sun towards which all yield, and Rhysand is the long night in which souls silently slip away.
