Fanatic Intervention Part 2!

I'm so glad you all are as hyped about this idea as I am!! ^_^ So you know, I've been reading every Other Idea, every reblog, and I am going to use your input to inform my choices going forward. This is OUR fic, after all :)

That FREAKING coffee. Your eyes narrow. Everyone is still in shock, no one has spoken yet. You use the hesitation to grab the coffee out of the Metatron's hands and chug it back all in one go. It's the perfect temperature for drinking. Because of course it is. You're vaguely aware of some sounds of protest from Metatron and Aziraphale, but they're monosyllabic, and don't need a response. That can wait till after you finish.

You pull the cup from your lips and exhale in an overly-dramatic fashion, and look at the Metatron. It tasted exactly like almond-flavoured coffee, and you still hate him. YUP. Good.

"I beg your pardon!" The Metatron gasps, his face glaring at you with fury behind his eyes. But, oh, you couldn't care less if you tried.

"Get. Out. Now," You say to him. Your eyes have figurative fire behind them, the rush of caffeine and adrenaline making you braver than you otherwise would be.

"Young person, have you any idea who you are ordering about? I think you'll find that you're of no authority to be making demands and that you would do best to see yourself out. Before you make any foolish mistakes," the Metatron's voice is cool like a spring creek, but you can hear the malice just below the surface; barely contained.

But here is the thing, my dear Reader, this is a self-insert fanfiction. And in this work of fiction you are brave and clever, and you have been grieving for everything this monster put our beloved Ineffable Husbands through for too long not to be very, very angry now that you have come face to face. And you are not about to let this go. Crowley and Aziraphale have spent so much time trying to defend the world, defend humans, defend those they don't even like! You'll be damned before you let them go undefended when you, yes you, with all your love for them and all your knowledge are standing right there. So defend them you shall. Someone has to. And right now no one else will.

"Do you," you begin after a moment, "have any idea who you are speaking to?"

For a moment, the Metatron looks taken aback. But only a moment, before his eyes grow cold again.

"I mean," you continue, "I just fell through the ceiling, and landed in front of you just as you were about to hand over that coffee. I don't know about you, but I can only think of one reason why that would have happened, and it has three letters."

In your peripheral vision you notice Muriel, counting on their fingers. Aziraphale chokes back a gasp. You can't see it right now, but you can FEEL Crowley's eyebrow from here. Metatron holds your gaze, not ready to give up just yet.

"If I were you, Metatron, I would pop on back to Heaven, and double-check a few things. Because, I mean, there must be a reason why I've been dropped here to interrupt you. Seems like your plan hasn't been...approved. Otherwise it would go forward as planned, yes?" Matching his arrogance is key here, and if you mess up, the consequences could be dire. You glance at your cuticles with an air of nonchalance. "Unless, of course, you presume to know better?" And to seal the deal, you raise your eyes in a sideways look that screams smug.

You've spent months reading meta analysis, character analysis, everything you can get your hands on about the final fifteen. You're pretty sure you have a solid enough grasp of the Metatron's character to pull this off. The main thing is to pretend you know what's actually going on, convince him that he doesn't, and buy some time.

Suddenly, your phone in your pocket buzzes four times, and your mouth tastes like salt. But, actually really pleasant salt. Like you just ate McDonald's french fries, or theatre popcorn. Something clicks into place in your mind.

"....Did you...just try to turn me into salt?"

Having spent months learning to read Michael Sheen's facial expressions, you see the Metatron's eyes shift through Surprise, then Curiosity, before landing on what you can only call Calculating.

So YUP for the salt. But apparently he can't touch you. Later, you tell yourself, we'll figure this out later. Get him out, and get him out now.

You take a step forward, herding him towards the door.

"It seems," you say to him, "That you have some things to clarify."

The Metatron huffs, and straightens his tie. "Indeed it does," he says, knives beneath the calm once again. "I shall return, Aziraphale, and when I do, I do hope we will have a chance to chat."

And so the Metatron leaves, as though it was his own idea. You follow him to the door. Oh, you shouldn't, but you just can't help yourself. And honestly, I don't think you should. You call to him as he walks away.

"And be careful with those questions, Metatron! We all know how THAT ONE goes, don't we?" And with that you slam the door.

While you're apologizing (very quietly and lovingly) to the bookshop door, you hear Crowley behind you.

"Nnnyeah, I have no idea what's going on, but I like this one."

You pull out your phone. There are five heart icons. Four that are full, and one that is just an outline. Oh. OH.

"FUCK," you say to yourself.

Now you look up. You're shaking like a leaf, but lucky for you, there's still a metric ton of adrenaline running through your system, allowing you to realize that you need to figure out what comes next.

I'm fleshing out what my YB is like since I'm rather fond of the idea everyone has a unique YB just for them. Feel free to keep reading!

Stats:

Nickname: Blue Age: 29 Pronouns: He/Him Skin Color: Blue Eye Color: Blue Hair: He has short hair!

In this universe, everyone is a 'blurbo,' which I am defining here to mean "blob-like character," where your hair/skin tend to match colors, people can be any color, and everyone is even more cartoonishly drawn than normal.

YB, himself, appears much more docile and soft, filling the role of a sub male yandere. YB in this universe is named Blue by his Y/N.

Myers-Briggs Type: ESFJ (extraverted, observant, feeling, judging) Core Traits: Warm Affection, Energetic, Detail-Orientated Flaws: Obsessive, Insecure, Hesitant Quirks: Stalker, Pop Culture Nerd, Aspiring YouTuber

While most YB are antisocial, Blue is really great at fitting in and hiding his antipathy from people around him. He knows you need people to survive, and he makes due. (In a meta sense, he was born later than his counterparts in the other universes and has seen what being a vicious asshole gets you in the end - your Y/N's hatred!)

Blue knows he has a lot of natural charisma and puts it to work. He is very extraverted and people tend to like him. Given how much practice he has put into his façade, Blue is quite good at convincing others that he likes them and he can get along with practically anyone.

Random Factoids:

"I'd have to say my favorite color is purple. Why? No reason. I just like the color." (His Y/N has purple skin in this world.)

"Mmm, favorite food, now we're talking! It's so hard to pick just one thing, you know? If I want to sound sophisticated, I should say I like something fancy, maybe something French? But, if I'm being honest with you, the minute I smell movie theater popcorn, I go feral."

"Naturally, my favorite book changes all the time, but most recently I read This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone, and it's blown me away. There's just something about the way those two characters love each other... It's beautiful, and I relate to it, though I don't think I can really explain why. I heard about the book from some guy on Twitter named Bigolas Dickolas."

"So, everyone has a favorite movie, right? Really, it's more like a comfort movie. It's a movie you watch that always cheers you up or just reminds you of the best things in life. There's this silly little movie called Densha Otoko, Train Man in English. It's this Japanese flick that's supposedly based on a true story of some guy who saved a girl from being harassed on a train. He falls in love with the girl, but he's too shy to ask her out. Random people on the internet on a more wholesome version of 4ch*n basically cheer lead him into asking the girl out. Really, the whole movie is sweet. It always lifts my spirits when I see it."

"There's only four seasons, but all of them are pretty good in my opinion. Just when you get fed up with one season, the next one is just around the corner. I guess, gun to my head, I'd pick winter, but I can't really explain why that is. Winter just seems... and pardon my pun... like the coolest time of year. Everything is dark, things are dying, and honestly the cold is used to represent a lot of villains in stories. But, on the flip side, winter is when most people have a lot of holidays and get togethers and the like. Not that I experienced it for myself yet... but, I think winter might be the best season because its easier to justify snuggling up with your partner. Just thinking about pulling someone close under the blankets while you watch a cliché holiday movie... doesn't that sound like fun?"

"Dogs! I love dogs for sure. They are so loyal, you know? Supposedly if you kick a dog, it will still love you, not that I'm advocating for that, but I just think its fascinating for a creature to love so unconditionally. Maybe its weird, but I relate to that a little bit."

Well, that's all I have for now. I really like Blue a lot, so I'll probably post some more random stuff. I might even make an attempt to draw random comic stuff with him in it.

I saw a curious exchange of "how to translate 'pardon my french' into Spanish" and there were different solutions coming from different countries, let me show you a couple:

Me van a disculpar el lenguaje florido pero

Hablando mal y pronto

Option number 1 sounds very polite but it already has a strong difference with the English one: "you *will* excuse [my language]". It feels like a threat, which more or less is the same as in English. In Spanish I'm not asking for forgiveness, you are forced to accept what I say. Technically in English it's the same thing, the insult is coming anyways, but I apologise in advance, whereas in Spanish, it's just a warning.

Now, "Hablando mal y pronto" is not even an excuse to be polite. It literally means "Speaking badly and quickly" and it's usually used AFTER the bad words have been said. "Me suda la polla, hablando mal y pronto" [Literally: It makes my dick sweat, speaking badly and quickly - Translation: I don't give a shit, if you'll pardon my french].

You could think that this second option is not a good translation because it doesn't convey exactly the same meaning, but there are cultural differences to note. Particularly: some Spanish speaking countries use a lot of slang, insults and swearing in everyday language to the point that it's not perceived as unpolite or aggressive. It's just a way of expressing yourself and nobody will take offense. And if somebody takes offense, it's their problem, why do they care more about the superficial words than they care about the intent or the message itself?

In English, and particularly in the US, swearing is really frowned upon. Look at all the tv shows, series and films that censor swearing. I have never seen that in European tv or many Spanish speaking shows either. I still remember when I watched Kitchen Nightmares US edition (I knew the Spanish version first) and people stopped Ramsey to tell him to watch his language. They literally didn't listen to him or got distracted or offended by his swearing to the point of changing the conversation. That has never happened in the Spanish version where swearing is all over the place. Nobody in their right mind would use swearing as a form of shifting the conversation or ignore what's being said, people would call you out if you do. Nobody really notices the swearing in Spanish.

So here the decision to make between this two option is do I want to be closer to the original language and culture or do I want to get closer to the meta language and culture? What fits better in this context?

Somewhat controversial, but the dancestors can be taken at face value as actual characters, even if they are mostly parodies. But even if you do that, you don't erase the part of it being genuinely malicious on Hussie's behalf. Beta trolls were parodies, too, but they were also allowed to be More than just parodies, a luxury Alpha trolls weren't given. So they feel like caricatures, because they are treated like nothing more than caricatures, even if people like that do exist. (a current example just search some chronically online takes, and it sounds similar to something canon!Kankri'd say). So yes, it's not completely out of nowhere, but it was still mean. Not to mention, pardon my Kankri, how pr96lematic some of the characterizations are, most likely bc Hussie just didn't think this shit through. Save for Latula, bc for the love of god, anosmia is a disability, and them saying otherwise (which they do) can't be boiled down to an accident, given they literally states that. Though, even then you gotta wonder how many of these are actual accidents. When Kankri speaks at I mean with Meenah and Mituna, he's and ass but also, he's right? But, like, on a meta-level? Because the way Mituna's written is a harmful stereotype of ppl with brain damage. So, at least with Mituna, on some level they know, I guess. But then you also have at least Damara (Japanese-coded, and she's lowkey(?) a yandere), Kurloz (another clown, again poc-coded, and he's evil) and Cronus (transmasc-coded, and he's desribed as "the worst character in Homestuck). And, well, there's also the guy who's probably the most affected by the fantasy racism of the entire group, and they made this guy a fake advocate. / Agh, sorry for all that, I have a lot of dancestor feelings & I'm very frustrated with Hussie. In general, if you don't want this sort of stuff on your blog, I'll fully understand, but if you could, add a small tag somewhere that you won't post it, so I don't start overthinking stuff? Again, sorry ;-; ✨️

okay. you got me.

maybe there really is a third false.

"quick, before she comes back!" who said that? not our false. not hc!false. so who — perhaps inside e!false's head, sharing the same body as e!false, the third false. perhaps the same one who said "i don't want to go back," despite e!false wanting to go home. the same one who placed the signs. the same one we see but don't see.

i've seen people sleepwalk. even really, really sleepwalk. talking in their sleep, moving things around, leaving their houses and roaming the street. but it's not this — it's not placing copper in the right formation for aging it or gathering materials you need for a build. that takes more cognitive processing than wandering aimlessly.

these are memory fugues. for those unfilliar with the concept, they can happen to people with a whole host (pardon the pun) of nerodivergencies, but is most commonly associated with disassociation and plurality. essentially, it is a temporary state of amnesia. there's an entire spectrum in regards to that as well, a vast amount of opinions on what causes them and what they entail, but i am proposing — jumping off, of course, the linked meta — perhaps the most classically known version in media. e!false has an alter, and she's desperately trying to keep her safe.

this third false, i'll call her t!false from now on, is the one who remembers. this is also quite a common occurrence in plurality, wherein some parts of the system / collective retain memories of unpleasant experiences while others have no recollection. if t!false remembers, that's why she's leaving warnings. "trust only yourself" might mean: trust me, t!false, and you, e!false, but do not trust hc!false. in this reading, "yourself" would mean "trust only those of us who still share the body."

which brings me to my next point: is hc!false from an alternate dimension, or timeline, or is she a time lord (can't miss a chance to cross-promote)... or is she the host or alter of a system that she figured out how to physically split from? then tried to wipe her alter's memories and dropped her — or them, in reference to both e! and t!false — into another world?

it's possible, at some point, that all these falses shared the same body, but hc!false grew tired of her alters, whether that was because she wasn't being listened to, or hated these gaps in her memory when another alter took over. at some point, figuring out a strange magic that could sever her from her other two selves, leaving those selves in a seperate body, trying and somewhat failing to wipe their memories, and then disposing of them through a mysterious rift.

that sounds pretty bad, though, doesn't it? it couldn't be that hc!false is the one we need to be watching out for, right? well. t!false seems to be concerned. please correct me if you heard something else, but one of the first flashes of 'memory' — what i think may actually be internal communication, in this case very strained communication between parts of a system — in false's empires episode thirteen sounded like "she's not safe! she's evil!" in reference, most likely, to hc!false.

e!false described this as "a glitch, but in [her] head" which i found interesting. the next thing t!false says is: "promise me, i'm running out of time" (which, frankly, i could add to my other theory but in another context). when e!false goes to break into hc!false's tower, she feels an electric shock — which should be impossible, since it's wood she's trying to break. maybe hc!false really did electrify it to keep her out, or, much like a glitch in her brain, t!false is making e!false feel the electricity, without it really being there, in order to protect them both from hc!false. or, for t!falses own purposes. who's to say?

the bit with jevin's stay i found interesting. absolutely no indication of what happened on her end, yet in reference to pixlriffs we see her approach with a splash potion of amnesia. likely what she used on jevin as well. but is this e!false, or t!false, making these decisions? and for what purpose? e!false seems to barely remember the interaction with pixl, and have no recollection of why there's blood in jevin's room. but whether she doesn't know, or is hiding something from us as the audience, it may be too early to make a call.

i don't have much to wrap this one up with — i'm excited to see where this plotline leads, whether my initial theory, this theory, or any other plotline comes to pass. and if you haven't read my false is a time lord theory, or my what happened with jevin post, and found this one interesting, give it a look! (frankly, i could write a whole seperate meta on time lords as a metaphor for plurality.) plus, if you have anything to add, please do so. i love reading other people's thoughts on the matter!

omg hi Sahar!!! (My brain genuinely short-circuited because there are so many cool things about you and your art that it took me a second to calibrate asfhfs)

You have such a distinctive and developed personal style. The way you shape and pose bodies feels so natural and full of life. Your lighting is always so good to look at. And I feel like you're always experimenting with new techniques and making them your own. It was cool to see you experiment more with painting last year (I'm thinking specifically of the Courbet Annabelle piece which is PHENOMENAL) Your Moirae TMA art is always singing in the back of my mind (if you'll pardon the jape heheh). Also, as a fat person, the way you draw fat bodies with so much love brings me joy

tragic backstory (tm) au) jaune heard growing up that the kingdom of heaven is a state of mind, but he never really thought on it anymore than that, but reading through the papers wirtten by his great great grandfather (they were donated to beacon by his family a long time ago but almost no-one in beacon uses the library for anything more than recreation) he's found out that it's a mental state that allows for far better skill in fighting. it's said that to reach the kingdom of heaven that one needs three things, discipline, detachment and most importantly, enthusiasm!

but it's only now that he's fighting against ozpin that he's finally reached it, he is Jaune Arc heir to the kingdom of heaven.

ozpin is shocked that his newest student can truly reach a flow state, warriors of all strips have been trying to reach it for almost all of history. even he can't do it on command, and jaune is clearly the better fighter when he's like this.... oh well time to use some magical bullshit to humble the young man again. can't risk his "street cred" as the kids call it by losing to a first year student.

plus it's a valuable lesson that any amount of skill can be overcome... or something. anyways lets see how the flow stat handles someone moving 5X faster than they should (thank you hast spell and meta-magic!) (jaune reaches a flow state and it gives him amazing combat ability, but ozpin still thrashes him by cheating with magic because it's funny to him)

Ozpin had seen and done everything. Having lived for centuries, he- What? You already heard this? Well, you can forgive an old man for being so forgetful. After all, having lived for so long often brings little joy to one's life after the first few decades. Imagine a century's worth of boredom!

Cinder: You think you're better than me, don't you? That because you best Adam Taurus, you are now the strongest Huntsman in history?!

Jaune: No!

Cinder: (Kicks him to the ground) Wrong answer!

Scarlet: So this is where he sleeps? How quaint. Simple, yet lovely.

Pyrrha: I'm sorry, you said you were Jaune's what, again?

Scarlet: His fiancee.

Pyrrha: And fiancee is Vacuan for?

Scarlet: I understand your concern. After all, as his partner, you're expected to care for his well-being. But you have no need to worry. I simply wish to reunite with my promised, if only a chance to rekindle that spark we once shared.

Nora: Well, I'm convinced-

Pyrrha: No.

Scarlet: Beg pardon?

Pyrrha: I said no. You left Jaune alone. You made him feel inadequate. You have no right to even speak to him.

Scarlet: Oh, I believe I'm misinformed. Are you engaged to him?

Pyrrha: No, I-

Scarlet: Then you must be dating, then?

Pyrrha: Not exa-

Scarlet: So, if I understand correctly, you have nothing to support your claim that you can determine who my betrothed can and cannot speak to.

Pyrrha: I... I don't...

Scarlet: Next time, dear, think before you let your emotions speak. (Turns away) A pleasure to meet you all. (Walks out)

Roman: What the hell just happened?

Qrow: Just another day at Beacon.

Ozpin: Come now, Mister Arc, surely you can do better than that?

Jaune: (Struggling under Cinder) Not really!

Cinder: (Stomps his shin, Doubles down on his shield) FOCUS! Every second you waste talking is a second of advantage your enemy has!

Jaune: (Pushes back) Well, it's not like I have godlike powers that give me an unfair advantage.

Cinder: One, there is no such thing as fair or unfair in a fight for your life. Second, I'm not even using my "godlike" power. I'm still human.

Jaune: Yeah, until you go full Maiden.

Cinder: Tch! (Flares up)

Jaune: ...Oh. Right. (Brings up his shield) Sore spot.

Cardin: No kidding, she looks exactly like Nikos!

Dove: Really? Weird, because I thought he was dating Ruby.

Russel: He was, but then they broke up. Apparently, she wasn't ready for him.

Dove: Wait, dating, or him?

Cardin: Knowing her, it could be both. She is still the youngest of all of us.

Sky: But isn't she also at the top of the class with Team JNPR.

Cardin: Only because of her team. They practically carry her. And even if she was ready for dating, she was going after Jaune. He's a higher caliber male, kind of like me. Except, you know, not as cool. (Team stares at him) What?

Sky: Nothin'!

Dove: We didn't say anything!

Russell: Definitely not a thing about you and Jaune being in a relationship!

Cardin: Good, because we're not. He's not man enough for me.

Ozpin: Mr. Arc, if I may, I believe I have something you may like to see.

Jaune: (Clothing singed, Face down) Oh, really?

Ozpin: It belonged to one of your predecessors when they attended Beacon. I believe he was your great-great grandfather. If you would care to read it.

Jaune: Can I get a break?

Cinder: Did Adam give you a break when you fought him?

Jaune: No... But you're also better than him in every way, including mercy.

Cinder: ...I know you're weaponizing my pride, but that shows tactics, which is all you have at this time. I'll allow a fifteen minute reprieve.

Jaune: Thank you, glorious mistress!

Cinder: Don't push it.

Yang: And Uncle Qrow is just letting him walk around Beacon?

Ruby: Yes! He says he's an escort!

Blake: So, it's finally happening.

Weiss: What is?

Blake: Politics. (Everyone looks at her) If Jaune accepts this woman as his wife, then not only will she be Queen of Vale, but Roman will be the king's brother-in-law, granting him access to much of the Kingdom's assets.

Ruby: We can't let that happen!

Blake: Especially if Roman and his sister plot to usurp Jaune.

Ruby: What makes you say that?

Blake: Think about it. Jaune's ex-fiance shows up after faking her death, tries to marry Jaune, and becomes the new Queen of Vale. That isn't love, it's lust.

Ruby: Lust?

Weiss: Lust for power. I've seen it too often. Someone was always trying to win my father's favour, usually by offering him their children to arrange marriages. Thankfully, none of them went through.

Ruby: So she's only after Jaune because he's the rightful king?

Yang: Well, she's going to have to go through his big sister!

Ruby: And his girlfriend... kind-of.

Weiss: It won't be that easy to stop her. She could easily influence his parents, or buy him outright from them.

Blake: A practice that's been illegal for decades, but...

Weiss: But still practiced in secret.

Ruby: We have to save Jaune!

Jaune: (Crawling away) Somebody save me!

Cinder: Get back up and fight! (Kicks him) How do you intend to fight Adam again if you can't fight me as you are now!

Jaune: He's in jail! And stop kicking me!

Cinder: As if that's ever stopped anyone before! Now get up and try again!

Hi! (This is inappropriatewenning's main account, by the way.) I really appreciate your work sharing more of the context for JGY as part of the MDZS filial piety examination. I was wondering--and go ahead and ignore me, I don't want to make you do annoying work!--but I assume there's also plenty of stories about what you do when your loyalty to your father and to your mother conflict? Since that's a thing that strikes me so much with JGY's story, he's doing so much for his mother and for his father...and his father is awful to and about his mother. I'm sure this is something that comes up in Chinese literary/folk tradition, but do you know where I might look for it?

Anyway, thank you so much for that detailed meta, it's just what I've been hoping to find!

I’d like to activate Cunningham’s Law where the fastest way to get the right answer on the internet is to post something wrong. So I’m gonna say: I have tried,,, looking for such a story but I haven’t found anything truly analogous to Jin Guangyao’s situation. I’m going to hazard a read on this situation — which is that this only attests to how difficult Jin Guangyao’s situation is. But this is what I have, and most of it is a summary of what I’ve found in Maria Sibau’s book Reading for the Moral: Exemplarity and the Moral Imagination in Seventeen Century Chinese Short Fiction.

So for more context, within the Chinese literary and vernacular tradition, there are stories that stage a conflict between filial duty and the obligations associated with other family bonds. Maria Sibau terms them filial dilemmas in her book. As she puts it, these stories “tackle issues that fall into what may be termed moral casuistry: to whom should one give priority, father or son? Mother or wife? Mother-in law or husband? Father or adoptive father…duty towards mother vs father.”

What’s interesting is that the only example she gives of a conflict between filial duty between mother and father…isn’t really a conflict. It’s known as 挺刃终除鴞悍, 皇綸特鑒孝衷 “Brandishing a Dagger He Gets Rid of the Harpy, The Imperial Edict Gives Special Consideration to His Filial Intention”. It’s a story of a twelve year old boy Cui Jian murdering a prostitute that his philandering father takes in as a concubine. It was for said concubine insulting his already tempestuous mother, who makes a suicide attempt but is stopped by Cui Jian. Cui Jian is imperially pardoned for his crime because “killing the prostitute and thus going against his father was a minor offense, while killing the prostitute in order to save his mother was for a greater cause. He demonstrated [that he possessed] both wisdom and virtue.” I’ll leave y’all to draw the uncomfortable parallels to the Jin household and the Mengs if y’all wish :”) (Side note: There’s also a section in Sibau’s book on Filial Murderers touching on how crimes of passion stemming from the feeling of filial piety often got lighter sentences in ancient China, and could even be memorialised as exemplars. You could choose to use it to sympathise with why Jin Guangyao reacts so violently when his mother is insulted, and even why Nie Mingjue is so aghast when his father is insulted by Meng Yao while he was captured and brought before Wen Ruohan).

Anyway my guess is that it would be hard to find any traditional stories about choosing between one’s mother and father. Most “solutions” to filial dilemmas put the parents before other familial ties, because they were there for you first. By that logic, how can there be a moral exemplary, who rightly discerned if duty to mother or father should come first? Both just seem like wrong choices,,, It’s also important to note that there will also be people pointing to filial exemplars as examples of foolish filial piety (愚孝 yu xiao). The only certainty is that the choices made by those caught in filial dilemmas will be scrutinised by generations as part of their moral lessons :”)

So I guess Jin Guangyao gets to be his own filial exemplar? People can write stories about him — “He Killed his Dad…Creatively…for Insulting his Mom.” Discuss.

But yeah I wouldn’t dig too hard for a story of when filial duty between parents clash. Most chinese people wouldn’t be able to rattle these like case studies off the top of their head anyway. But I think there's a good chance that MXTX draws partly upon her chinese audience’s understanding of filial piety, to up the tension of Jin Guangyao’s predicament, where he’s caught between honouring his father and mother, building it up until it blows.

Heck, an understanding of filial piety for non-Chinese audiences might even enhance their appreciation of even other Chinese dramas or books! There’s often a good overlap between the CQL and WoH fandom, so I'm going to try give an example from WoH if that helps.

[SPOILER] So if you’ve watched WoH, my guess is that watching father-son pairs such as Long Que and Long Xiao (yeah that’s the Xiao that means filial piety) or Xie Wang and Zhao Jing is more interesting if you set it against the tradition of stories of fathers and sons trying to figure out the proper filial relations between each other [SPOILER END].

So I'd say the practice of staging scenarios in stories that complicate the practice of filial piety and understandings of parent-child relationships is very much a living one :P

After tonight, how do you think Jester's feeling? Honestly, I wasn't so sure before, but after their conversation, I'm again very certain Fjord is the one she has feelings for

All right, anon. This is a fun question for me, because we talk about Fjord’s feelings a lot, but not Jester’s. I’m going to say a few things that I never thought I’d say in this ask. For example: Fjord’s feelings have been much more obvious in the last 60 episodes than Jester’s have been. If you had told me I would say that 100 episodes ago, I would have laughed so hard. But here we are.

TLDR? Jester’s in love with Fjord and has been for a while. I’ve been going off about this occasionally since her second playlist was released. But that is what really convinced me that she had moved from ‘crush’ into ‘love’. And episode 117 helped me be even more confident in saying that.

I also wanted to put some episode 117 receipts in here, but tags in Tumblr are tricky sometimes, so I just made a companion gifset instead. (If this link messes with the tags, I’ll take it out and put it in a reblog.)

Anyway. Let’s get a cut in here so I can get carried away with the why. 2436 words of carried away.

So, like I mentioned above, Fjord’s feelings have been much more obvious than Jester’s lately. For a while, I guess. Pardon me while I just quote Laura from Talks for second. And that’s mostly because Jester backed off when she thought her advances were unappreciated. It was all part of Jester realizing that smut novels aren’t what real relationships are like. A very integral part of her development and how she’s more than her crush(es).

The funny thing about all this... I think about this sometimes... is how Fjord didn’t actually not appreciate it. He’s just got low wisdom and didn’t realize that it meant that she like-likes him. He thought they were just goofing off. Because. Sorry, I’m briefly hopping into Fjord meta and then I’ll hop right back, I promise. But yeah. He thought they were just goofing off and I’m realizing as I type this paragraph that it never occurred to him, because “You know when someone makes you feel a way that you don't think you have any right to feel or you never thought that you might?”. Yeah. So, it wasn’t just his low wisdom. It just didn’t occur to him, because he didn’t think that he deserved to feel that way about anyone or have anyone feel that way about him. Okay. Hopping back now.

The other hilarious thing about this is that things between them weren’t awkward until she backed off and stopped overtly flirting. Which also correlates with the end of the pirate arc and how Beau, during that arc, pointed out to Fjord that Jester was jealous of Avantika.

But yeah. Jester backed off, which really threw their relationship into a whole new dynamic. I have a lot more complicated and layered feelings on the pirate arc that require a rewatch for me to properly articulate, but we know that Jester was scared during this time. She was a little scared that she didn’t really know Fjord (Re: Somebody Else being on her first playlist). But that was only temporary. That whole time made Jester start to question her feelings for Fjord. Which in turn made most of the fandom start to question them as well. But I do think that she eventually landed on “my friendship with him is more important to me than a potential relationship and if I keep acting like this, I’m going to lose him”. This is partially her realizing that life isn’t a romance novel, but I think it is also a direct result of her realizing how uncomfortable he was with the idea of being used as bait to distract Avantika. He did it, but he was not comfortable the whole time they talked about it.

But also, Fjord was her first real friend outside of Artagan. He trusted her right away with things he didn’t tell anyone else in their group for months. She knew he was hiding his accent. She knew what happened on the Tide’s Breath. He told her before he told anyone else about how he lost his powers. They promised to protect each other and help each other on their way to their individual goals and they’re still holding up that promise every day.

ANYWAY I’M GETTING DISTRACTED I’M SORRY.

Okay, where are her feelings now. Now. She’s in love with him. When she backed off from the flirting and started focusing on just being there as a friend, it deepened their relationship. I mean, to be fair, it was already pretty deep. I promise I’m not getting off track this time, but he really did tell her things he told no one else. Sometimes it takes him longer to get around to it, because of the group, but he always ends up telling Jester everything. And that opens the door for Jester to be open with him, too, in a way that she isn’t with anyone else.

I mean, okay. Gosh. How do I even word this?

Jester doesn’t actively seek anyone out to talk about her feelings. There are two times I can think of off the top of my head that she’s broached the subject first. One: when she was looking for Beau and ended up talking to Veth about how she felt about the kiss that wasn’t a kiss. And Two: the Jellyfish talk, when she asked Fjord if he ever gets sad. But Jester keeps everything buried pretty deeply. So, the fact that Fjord is constantly going out of his way to ask her if she’s okay and the fact that he pulled her aside to tell her that if she ever needs to talk, she can talk to him. That’s a huge deal. And I think she’s still scared to take him up on it, because on top of all these things is that layer of awkwardness. Fjord and Jester are just awkward with each other right now. And their feelings for each other are what makes it awkward.

If the awkwardness was one-sided and only coming from Fjord, I’d say that her feelings had gone away. But it’s not. It’s always two-sided. There’s so much tension in all of their conversations, because while they talk about everything else, there’s one thing they haven’t talked about. Or... I guess it’s a couple things at this point. But they’ve never talked about the kiss that wasn’t a kiss. That’s what I mean specifically at this point. It’s just never been brought up. Which is so weird, because the other times (I think it’s two? Maybe it’s one. I’m doubting myself.) that Fjord’s saved Jester’s life with a potion, she brought it up. She made a production about it. But the kiss was different, because she didn’t know if it was a real kiss. I think she’s come around to it not being a real kiss, but it’s got to still bug her.

But that’s planted this seed of awkwardness in all their solo interactions that hasn’t gone away. Jester’s been pushing her feelings for Fjord aside. Or trying to. But he keeps doing things that make her have hope again and it’s getting to a point that she can’t ignore that feeling. Like... He wanted her to be the one to go with him into the wreckage of the Tide’s Breath. The whole day after the blue dragon encounter, he was hovering. He wanted her to have a potion so that she could be safe and he said that he wasn’t being awkward he was disarming her. He dove off the side of a tree when she fell to save her. He tells her how much her help has meant to him in Kravaraad. He makes sure they go visit her dad. He runs after her to go rescue her mama and then he tells her that he’ll wear a stupid hat if she wants him to and that she looks lovely while implying that he’d like to look at her in that dress all the time. And then he asks her if she’d like to get dinner with him instead of go look for their friends. AND THEN he tells her that he likes it when she’s feeling his stomach looking for the orb. He was constantly checking in with her during Travlercon to make sure she was safe and comfortable. He launched himself into the air over an active volcano and begged her to let go and stay with them. AND TO MAKE MATTERS MORE CONFUSING FOR HER. He hugged her twice and then he willingly danced with her even though he didn’t know how AND THEN he gave her this tiny unicorn statue, because he knows how much she loves things like that. And now he’s given her the necklace that was meant to protect him, because he’s more concerned about her safety than his own. He told her that he’s having a hard time focusing on his future, because his past keeps getting in the way and he wants to deal with that before........ AND THEN HE SAYS he’s going to be thinking about how she helped him all night.

I got a little carried away again, sorry.

Here’s the deal.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. There has been nothing in canon to make me think that Jester’s feelings have gone away. Everything I can see implies that they’ve deepened. But she’s scared. She’s never really been in love before. It is absolutely terrifying (or it is for me) to admit when you’re in love. Especially when you don’t know if your feelings are reciprocated. Or if you think they’re unwanted. And she thought hers were unwanted. But she’s still been doing little things this whole time. She’s still shown signs of jealousy. She still thirsts over him, just not as openly as she did before. She gets super shy whenever they have one-on-ones and that makes her get awkward in the cutest way. Jester started to be careful with how she was around Fjord, but he’s been making it pretty clear that he doesn’t want her to be careful with him and I think she’s starting to realize that. It’s giving her hope that maybe her feelings are wanted.

Also, the fact that there’s no in-between for these two? They’re either incredibly emotional when they talk to each other or incredibly awkward or BOTH. They are radiating “in love with your best friend” energy. The difference is that Fjord isn’t afraid of ruining the friendship and Jester is. Or... well... yeah. Actually, that’s what I mean. I think Jester’s coming around to not being afraid. She’s got hope again that they might be something more. And I think that hope is starting to be fun for her again instead of scary.

OKAY I’m almost done. I want to very briefly talk about that gifset that I made, because I made receipts for a reason, damn it. Let’s talk ONLY about the conversation in 117.

Gif 1: This one is right after this exchange. Jester: I mean... it's worth a try. He's met all of us, so he could potentially scry on anyone, I guess, now. But maybe it'll keep me from being seen if I scry on him. I don't know how it all works. // Fjord: I guess we'd find out the next time we did it. // Jester: Yeah. Like, she looks down at the necklace and just smiles, because Fjord has literally just told her that his safety doesn’t matter as much as hers. Fjord went out of his way to do this thing for her and she just looks so touched.

Gifs 2 and 3: These are both just Jester laughing over Fjord talking about her face when she’s scrying. They’re goofing off and being silly. And gif 3 in particular is just... again. She’s having fun! With Fjord! And she likes that.

Gif 4: Jester just asked Fjord “how are you?” and he started up with that big, goofy grin. And she can’t even get through calling her question stupid without smiling. Like, she’s reacting to his smile. And it’s kind of funny, because I think she doesn’t understand why he’s smiling so much in that moment, but she still can’t help but smile back.

Gif 5: I feel like I need to close all of that before.... That’s such an interesting reaction and SO TELLING. Like, that small smile and then she kind of takes a breath and then she still can’t not smile over it. SHE KNOWS. She really hopes that it means what she wants it to mean. And she wants it to mean something.

Gif 6: She’s once again reacting to a Fjord smile. You can see the way the corners of her mouth keep trying to smile. Because Fjord is just touched and telling her that yeah, she should send a message to Kotho. And then it’s the things she’s doing with her hand there, too. She’s all nervous energy and can’t really hold still. There’s that hope again.

Gif 7: She’s SO HAPPY because she’s helping him. SO HAPPY. And again with the hands! So much nervous energy.

Gif 8: It's just a spell! It's easy to do. Again with the hands!!! I mean, okay. Speculation and projection. I’m aware. This is just something I do and I see it in Jester a lot. Where, she’s got to do something with her hands so they don’t do what she really wants them to. I mean, SERIOUSLY. And the way she smiles at him at the end of it. There’s a lot for her to process about this exchange and I think it’s starting to hit her. How much this means. What this might mean. And she’s happy. She’s excited.

Gif 9: I will think about that all night. Still the nervous energy. I won’t repeat that paragraph. But like. Fuck. Fjord told her that he was going to think about that all night. I kind of want to yell right now. In a good way. My heart just hurts in a good way over this moment. I can’t even speculate on her emotions here because that’s like... huge. There was so much tension here. Jester hasn’t had anyone say anything like this to her before. She doesn’t know how to react. And Fjord is also holding himself back. Uh, this is Fjord HOLDING HIMSELF BACK. What the fuck. I mean. Okay I have to move on. I have nothing productive to say here.

Gif 10: I guess I was wrong. This isn’t only about the conversation, but also about the moment later. Where he thinks she’s going to scry when she’s going to send and she realizes that he was going to do what she asked him to before. She is just so pleased that he intended to follow through. I choose to believe this is 100% what Jester’s face actually did in the moment. And I love this because it’s only awkward on Fjord’s end this time. Jester is just happy.

I’ve gotta end this thing, guys. Why are you even still listening to me ramble???

I guess what I ultimately want this whole answer to be: Jester’s in love with Fjord. Fjord makes her so happy. And she is starting to let herself hope that he’s in love with her, too. She can see the possibility of a future with him again and finally letting herself believe that it might happen. So, yeah. That’s where I think Jester’s feelings are.

I want to be more circumspect about the tenor of posts I reblog on here because I don't want to get caught up in a "jiang cheng!! 😍🥰😘 never wrong! only uwu trauma!" bubble

However, it seems like very few people can have nuanced opinions on him, esp when it comes to negative opinions - I've never seen someone be like "yeah, I just don't really like him, he's not terribly likable" (which I 100% agree with haha). It's usually all, "he's really the worst and just terrible" often with an implicit or explicit side of "you are terrible/stupid/deluded if you do like him and all the rest of us who don't are talking about the *real, canon* character while the one you like is pure fanon" (which side is the more damaging tbh). It's the lack of respect that's the issue.

Having an opinion that he's just the worst because of stuff he's done and how he is I can respect! I might disagree but there's no problem with that whatsoever. We need differing opinions! But you tag it with c*non jiang cheng and ant* jiang cheng and gr*peh*te...that bleeds into the implicitly condescending territory. I've read valuable, good meta from ppl with negative opinions of JC that use these tags - and then I proceed to block them because I know that the more extreme actual haters will interact with that post too and I don't want to see that.

I saw a post recently I partially agreed with: they said (pardon me if I get this wrong I don't want to misquote them but I already blocked them and don't remember their tumblr handle): JC isn't traumatized (disagree: while he does self-victimize and interpet everything as a slight to him when often it's not even about him, he is literally also a victim of trauma...losing his *whole family* and becoming responsible for a whole sect at the ripe age of like y'know around 17); that his responses were not normal trauma responses (disagree with the caveat that's not my area so I can't tell you what "normal" trauma responses are but his responses are still very human - never said they were good! Just human); and that he is self-centered and self-victimizing (agree!).

The issue with this post was it used the canon jiang cheng tag and I'm like whyyyyy...doing that even if just so you know JC fans will not interact or will block creates as much of an echo chamber as the other way around! Bc this person said these things in a totally reasonable way without (IIRC) bashing people who do like him, and U would've liked to just have that moment without it being spoiled by a dumb tag.

Is JC self centered? Yes. Is he responsible for his actions? Yes. Is he traumatized? Big yes. Does his trauma excuse any of his actions that are bad/evil or his personality? No. But do his actions/personality deserve the SAME nuance and contextualization that we give to WWX, LWJ, LXC, JGY, NMJ, etc? You bet your ass they do. You can't contextualize characters and only refuse to do so for the one you don't like.

Do you have to like him? Not all. Please, dislike away! Just don't pretend that not liking him gives you some moral high ground.

That's what I get for clicking on the jiang cheng tag today. I don't want to make lots of posts like this. I don't want to be angry about discourse surrounding a damn fictional character. I want to keep this blog as nuanced and as positive as possible: not by never posting differing opinions or never posting criticism of JC, but by reblogging content that is respectful to both sides (which is hard to do when so many people who are more critical are also disrespectful!)

I'm sure I've erred on the side of disrespecting people who disagree with me, to an extent, and I want to mitigate that. But golly gee does this feel like the stupidest "us vs them" kind of fight.

15×08 meta 1/2, Purgatory 2.0

Warning: Destiel, pure destiel. And a lot of references to romantic movies, I'm sorry for that.

Hi! For this episode I decided to do 2 posts. This one, which is purely destiel in purgatory 2.0 meta, and the next one, which will be about destiel/saileen/ and the end of the toxic codependency between Dean and Sam. I'll post that one later.

Now, I know everyone and their mother already talked about Purgatory and the Prayer and the importance of Dean and Cas going back to where they first reconciled after a “break up” (Because even if Dean had already forgiven Cas for the betrayal with Crowley, the threat of in case I die tomorrow kinda left a bittersweet flavor to that. But Purgatory? That was true forgiveness), and everything is amazing, but I'll keep talking because I can.

Purgatory gave in Supernatural a new whole level of intimacy and almost devotion to prayers, because before that it was more of a call phone that anything else. Like, yes, it does was about some kind of faith, and that's why Dean was so reticent at the beginning of praying to Cas.

And after? Like I said, kind of a one-sided phone call to get Cas to bring his “feathery ass” to them. It was a strategic tool for communication.

That changed in Purgatory.

Dean was stuck one year in Purgatory. It is clear than most of it was searching for Cas, and that after finding him it was easy to find the portal, but I'll be really generous, and say they (Dean, Cas and Benny) spent a month looking for the portal (again, I assume it was less because Purgatory wanted to kick Dean out, but this will get my point across anyway). This means Dean spent at least 334 days looking for Cas, because the separated the moment they arrived.

If Dean prayed to Cas every night, those are 334 prayers. The first thing we can get from here is that there was no strategic worth for most of the prayers. Maybe at the beginning Dean though that if he described where was he, Cas would be able to fly to him. At the beginning, I'm sure after a month Dean understood praying wasn't gonna help have Cas back.

That left us with a little over 300 hundred prayers. What the hell Dean talked about in so many prayers? “Hey dude, I'm still looking for you. Don't die”? Pardon my French, but that doesn't fucking need a daily prayer. Besides, Dean doesn't say he prayed daily, he said he prayed every night, that points to routine. You don't need a routine for one sentence, you can say while walking, next to Benny. If he had a routine, he made time for the prayers, that leads me to believe they were more than a reminder he was still there. Dean had full conversations, or monologues whatever, in his prayers.

So next I need to say that when that first “I need you” was dropped, Castiel didn't seem surprised.

Look at him. That's not a face of surprise. Dean never says things like that to anyone but Sam, and yet Cas just looks heartbroken, not surprised. And we are talking of the same angel that needed a “yes, dumbass, we.” To process that Dean thinks they are a good team. Like, the only logic explanation I see is that that wasn't the first time he had told Cas he needed him.

We will never truly know the content of those +300 prayers, but I know that “I need you” had already been out of Dean's mouth. Maybe that's also the reason he said it when Cas was about to kill him in 8x17. It was not just something he said once to convince Cas to go with him, it was something he repeated over the course of a year.

I don't know guys, but to me that's some “as you wish” level chick-flick move there. Specially for Dean “I am not one for praying, 'cause in my book it's... it's the same as begging.” Winchester.

Not a tool, no strategical move, those prayers were of the purest and most devote motives. And now you tell me that The Prayer will be back there???

I swear this is the last movie reference but this is Noah and Allie making love in the house they wanted to live in when they were together and that Noah remodeled hoping that would bring Allie back to him, after he tells her he wrote her a letter each day for a year.

And you may wonder, if my hopes are so high, why ain't Cas in episode 10. According to me? Considering we still have many episodes to go, I have three theories;

He has the equivalent of a gay panic but for when you best friend who you've been in love with for years returns your feelings after you've given up hope and were sure he hated you, so he runs off to the first mission they need someone to go.

Chuck doesn't want this to turn in a fricking Nicolas Spark novel so he manages to take him out of the game until he needs him to go back and die or something.

And you may notice the absence of the popular they (or at least it is popular on Twitter) where Cas gets trapped in Purgatory, again.

But like, that isn't a problem? Micheal can just snap and open the gate again, I mean, I know he doesn't really like them, but it would be annoying having Dean all broken and not really functional when you can solve that with a snap of your fingers.

The point is, they have an easy way to open back the gate, so it would be ridiculous to make a big fuss out of Cas getting trapped, unless Micheal dies or something in the meantime.

Offended (part I)

Hello my friends, I'm bringing you a new chronicles from this series from season 6!

I thought I could make this in one part but... Is a very extended topic. We need to talk about why and how much offended Dean was with CAS and Cas was with Dean in the firsts episodes of this season. So... I'm gonna need to parts for that.

Sorry I will be very critic with Sera Gamble's work in these two seasons. Because I found a lot of Wincest, inconsistences, disorganization and "out of character" behaviors in season 6 plot line. But I think you should know by now what I'm talking about. Putting that by a side, we had a lot of Destiel (angsty and cruel Destiel) scenes that need our attention.

Ok, no more cháchara. Let's start with this...

Dean is Offended with Cas

As I started to explain in the previous chronicle. We can infer Dean didn't call Cas in one entire year bc the last time they saw, Cas flee away without saying goodbye the same day Dean had lost his brother.

But when Dean heard from Sam he was calling Cas for one year and Cas didn't appear... DEAN'S face was priceless, he was surprised. But after this... We will see he add more anger to it. First of all, Cas didn't say goodbye, and came back to Heaven, so Dean didn't call him. But now... There was a good excuse, a good "no gay" excuse to be mat at CAS...

Cas didn't respond Sam's prayers

Episode 6x03 called "The third Man" was written by the talented Edlund. When Sam and Dean discovered angelical signs in the air, Dean decided to call Cas... After an entire year. A good excuse to make a pray.

DEAN: We should call Cas.

SAM: You're kidding, right? [ Scoffs ] Dean, I tried. It was the first and second and third thing I did, soon as I got topside. Son of a bitch won't answer the phone.

DEAN: [Sitting on a bed. ] Well, let's give it a shot. Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray to Castiel to get his feathery ass down here.

Why is Dean so sure CAS will answer him? He tried anyway, knowing Sam had called him and prayed him a lot of time for one entire year. But even so, Dean tried. Maybe he knew deep inside Cas will answer HIM, because maybe deep inside he knew his relationship with CAS was different in comparison with Sam and Cas relationship.

And Cas appeared...

This was huge. Because he didn't appeared when Sam called him but WHEN DEAN CALLED HIM. Tracing the big difference between CAS/Dean and Cas/Sam. I will put the "profound bond" meaning later on this meta, I actually want to talk about how Dean showed Castiel he was mad at him bc he didn't help his brother, things weren't good between them for Dean, bc he felt abbandoned by him when he most needed him, but bc that was a gay excuse, let's use this one... You didn't help Sam.

Focusing again in Sam, he put aside the meaning of the profound bond

When Dean heard about the profound bond, his facial expression was "what the hell is that?" Where did Cas and him share that kind of "intimate thing"? And very gay to say. He avoided that, and focus the conversation again in Sam.

This is the cause of why Castiel felt offended with Dean...

Cas is now offended with Dean

Everything Castiel does is for Dean, so when he flew away without saying goodbye, Cas went straight to rescue Sam from Hell. (This is the part we won't know till lasts episodes from this season. But when he came back, he saw the same Sam saw: DEAN HAD A FAMILY NOW. So he flew away again to Heaven and then the civil war began.

Maybe he didn't want to disturb Dean and his new life, as everyone else in this show (Bobby, Sam, etc) or maybe he was so busy with battles that time passed by without noticing. Remember time in Heaven runs differently, that's why when CAS asks for help to the Winchesters... Pay attention where Castiel put emphasis...

CASTIEL: Sam, Dean, my "people skills" are "rusty." Pardon me, but I have spent the last "year" as a multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent. But believe me, you do not want that weapon down here. Help me find it. Or more people will die.

This makes us think for Castiel the time is different, and isn't an entire year as it is for Dean or Sam, in Hell it's more but in Heaven? Time is sorter than for us, so... It runs different. So for CAS... Was maybe just a few days...

But let's check why Cas gets mad at Dean...

Dean not giving the importance that their bond deserves, made Cas feel embarrassed and offended.

Castiel appearing right away after Dean's prayer tells us he was just waiting for him to call him. He will be there at the instant Dean would pray to him. He was waiting for his call.

So when he appears, and Sam confront him...

Again HONESTY, honesty in Castiel's words, as always... "I was getting too close to the humans in my charge, you." Remember? He is always honest. And this time he was honest again.

"I wasn't gonna mention it"

This is huge, my friends. Because Cas turns around to watch Dean and lowers his voice!!!!! Like "THIS IS SOMETHING WE KNOW WE HAVE BETWEEN US."

Castiel thought Dean knew it too. And he thought it was a kind of secret between them. He thought Dean will be honest too, because as an angel he knows what is going on between them, something different and profound. Something special, not just a friendship. But Dean put that face, and didn't give the importance this "profound bond" between them had. So then Cas thought Dean didn't feel the same way. And this was why Castiel felt offended. And embarrassed. He had had just confessed something huge, a secret he thought he shared with Dean, and Dean was acting as if that was a lie.

Then...

Cas changed the subject with a very "jiltter lover" attitude

Look how Castiel changes the subject... Very offended...

Is a very sassy attitude... "So... What we have it means nothing to you? Ok... So... I didn't come bc you called me." He wanted to infringe on Dean the same hurting words he had just given him.

And Dean reacts as a jiltter lover too...

DEAN: Oh, well, it's nice to know what matters.

CASTIEL: It does help one to focus.

And Cas being sassy again.

This is like watching two offended lovers, throwing bombs to each other. So, from now on, we will have two upset schoolboys in love, being sassy and bossy with each other. That's a topic for the next Chronicle.

To conclude:

Dean was mad at CAS bc he didn't say goodbye to him, he didn't came to see him knowing he had just lost his brother. That's why he didn't call him. He found out Cas didn't answer Sam's calls for one year, and he found in this an excuse to show himself mad at Cas. A more reliable motive. When he had the opportunity he calls Castiel, knowing deep inside he will answer him.

But even so, he avoids any attempt that could show his special relationship with the angel. When Sam asked Cas "YOU LIKE HIM MORE THAN ME?" Dean "translate" the meaning of this words with a "WHAT SAM WANTS TO SAY IS..." Avoiding the really reason why Cas answered him right away. And the second avoidance he does is when Castiel talks about their PROFOUND BOND.

Castiel gets mad at Dean because of that, because honest as he always is, he confirmed their special relationship, as a secret between them, and seeing Dean reacting like that, made him feel embarrassed and disturbed. So he began to act as a jiltter lover.

The thing is ... They missed each other but no one will say it. Period. 🤣🤣

Remembering the past- Freebird.

"Freebird" - another episo the second season, which tells about the adventure of Rapunzel and Cassandra. And before the review-a small Preface.

First I wanted to write here that my criticism of this episode will be very subjective. I figured this episode is one of the favorites for the TTS Fandom. Well, imagine my surprise when all the posts from other participants about this aerie were mostly negative. I don't understand why this series is so disliked. In my opinion, she doesn't deserve what those people were saying. But let us on order

My favorite moments in the series:

Solo song from Cass and Raps.

Okay, does anyone else think they can't make songs on this show? Despite the fact that this song is not stuck and my heart, I have presnet that she is very beautiful. All these backgrounds, flight animation, everything is perfect!

Cassandra's character development and her relationship with Rapunzel

This series, in my opinion, very strongly and well showed the attitude of Cassandra about the Princess. On the one hand, she is angry with her because she behaves selfishly towards her. Rapunzel is not prislushivalsya Cassandra and doesn't understand how much suffering she causes her friend and myself later.

But on the other hand, Cassandra loves Rapunzel and seeks to protect her. She cried when Rapz lost her control of the bird's body, and it shows very strongly how strong the bond is between the two of them.

Also my favorite moment in the series is when Cass was ready to kill Father for what he did to Rapunzel. It's a very emotional moment, and I love it. This series is already a small hint of what awaits Cassandra at the end of the second season.

New characters- "Father" and"Mother".

For me the availability of data characters simultaneously is and plus, and minus. On the one hand, their design, voices and habits are very attractive and interesting. On the other hand, they are poorly disclosed. So the motive for the crimes is to make a unique bird Park? Seriously!? And where did they get the damn kettle? I have a suggestion that they are minions of Zhan Tiri, but there is no hint of that in the series. The creators could do at least a little reference to him. Alas, but because of the small timing had to give prescribed villains for the sake of relations of the main characters.

Turning into birds.

It became a neutral topic for me. Frankly, I'm not a fan of stories where the characters turn into animals. I don't know where it came from, but I just don't like it. And the design of the birds is not so innovative, in my opinion. But on the other hand, the meta-argument that the bird is a symbol of freedom I really like. So I'm willing to put aside my hatred and watch the series calmly.

And now let's talk about the cons that are here:

* Rapunzel's final rescue.

In my opinion, it looked disgusting. The us too has hinted at the fact that Shorty was in the hands of our villains, though they put vaeh our friends in a separate cage. And then, Rapunzel is saved thanks to the egg, which landed Shorty. This, pardon my expression, as!? How convenient that Shorty turned into a magical bird with magical eggs. The creators could have made it so that Cass, for example, found one of the eggs in the house of magic or in a secret hollow. But what we were shown is a shame.

* And Yes, that prevented them break this egg, sitting near? As I understand it, is the magic dust that turns them into a people, and the amount that was in poldine egg, dolde was swatit and Cass, and Rapz.

* Here is this theme with "the most strong man" was need a only for moreover, to share Rapunzel with Cassandra from team. And it is wildly annoying. Even the characters themselves are indignant at what he saw.

* On the one hand, I understand why Rapunzel sacrificed herself for Cass. She was always ready to help a friend, even sacrificing herself. And all the more, she often not thinks about the consequences of, so that this point I justified.

* But on the other hand, I agree with the criticism. In the past four series, Rapunzel did not show what she was afraid to eat along the way. I mean, seriously, she was always at ease, didn't let wil know she was scared. Why hadn't she mentioned it to Eugene, who always gave advice in situations like this? And why the creators are not wearied, at least a little gamecom in the last scree to show that Rapunzel is afraid of what will happen in the end?

As a result: I don't understand why this series is so much agressiruesh, given the fact that there are more worst of the series. To me, it's just ordinary. She's not upset, she leaves a warm feeling, but a "wow" of effect I received. In any case, I find the series more or less good.
