I'm gonna say Luisa. By this point, the family expects Isabela to intimidate the guy with a cactus (or two. Or ten) but it's Luisa who really goes into protective sister mode

Despite her muscles and Gift, Luisa wasn't actually one to flaunt her strength. In fact, she was a total softie.

So when Mirabel first brought a boy home, everyone expected Isabela to be the one to scare him. And, sure, Isabela sweetly threatened to shove a cactus where the sun didn't shine if he hurt her sister. But Luisa had been sweet as sugar for the entire dinner.

Then this boy, Rodrigo, asked Agustín and Julieta if he could take Mirabel for a walk. They agreed, of course.

But Luisa cornered him when Mirabel went to find her shawl.

She bent down, smiling. "If you hurt her," she said sweetly. "I'll make sure no one ever finds your body."

Rodrigo jerked back, eyes wide. "W-what?"

"You heard me." Her smile widened.

Mirabel came skipping back downstairs. Luisa straightened back up, smiling fondly at her baby sister.

"Have fun!" Luisa chirped, pulling Mirabel into one of her usual bone-crushing hugs. As she hugged Mirabel, she glared at Rodrigo.

Safe to say he looked a little pale as they left.

As soon as the door way closed, Luisa went in search of Dolores.

"Tell me straight away if he tries anything," Luisa ordered, arms crossed. "I'll break him."

Hollow Julieta stared at the child infront of her, and scooped them up.

The ten months old Mirabel loomed at her, square in the face, tongue out in a derp.

Hollow holds the child to her shoulders and proceeds to walk forward, to her own tavern/bar.

"Where to?" She simply asked. Earning a "Ma!" Fron the baby.

"Hmm yes, we will go to my building and give you baby food. Even though it is full of liquors not meant for children, except for a few. Would you like almond?"

"Yah!" The infant answered. "Alo!"

"Okay." Hollow simply stated.

"Uh... Hollow? Is that a mini-Mirabel?" Scrappy Mirabel asked, pointing at a two-year-old Mirabel, who was holding onto her hand.

"Hollow how the hell are you going to work like this—" "Ah, don't worry, I already simplified what my job is, so I tell her to cover her eyes and ears."

A week later, a five-year-old Mirabel was with Hollow, said Mirabel was crying as the adult hugged her tightly.

Observer Mirabel sputtered. "Wh— Hollow for fucks sake DON'T MAKE HER GET ATTACHED TO YOU!" She yelled.

The bloody woman shook her head, "I'm afraid I cannot, she is from a Neglected AU."

"Oh, makes sense."

Hollow simply regenerated her body while shrugging. "My apologies everyone. I had to step in so Mirabel could be taken care of sometimes."

Bruno and the murals

You know what Encanto fam? I think it’s very interesting how in the Madrigal mural in town, Bruno’s part of the painting is perfectly normal and not scrubed off or damaged in any manner. However, the painting on his door in Casita was blocked from sight with with wooden boards.

Why I found that interesting? About halfway into the movie, it’s all but directly stated Bruno only became an outcast in town because people either took his bad prophecies as granted eventes, or blamed him for small unfortunes. It would be fair to assume such petty people would absolutely get him off the tribute of the amazing Madrigals, right? Except it shows the townsfolk didn’t have any real problems with Bruno himself, but with what his visions made them think/feel. 

Besides humans’ awful habit of searching for scape goats (which certainly was the root of the problem in some cases), all the people in the Encanto are either survivors from a violent attack that destroyed their former community or direct descendents of them. They too only survived because of a magic that no one understood. Of course there would be people who would get paranoid about Bruno’s visions. Of course they’d want to think he could seal their fates. They wanted the visions to provide security, but when they didn’t do it, their belief about how Bruno’s power worked and traumas made them assume the worst of the prophet. But it didn’t mean their dislike of Bruno ran deep. That’s why they didn’t try to erase the visual reminder of him in town, while his image was banned from his own door. They might have actually felt bad for him after he vanished.

His door being sealed off and his somewhat faded image in the mural inside Casita probably was meant to represent how the Madrigals that knew him well probably felt about his passing overall (because of course each individual had their own way of grieving him). All of them wanted to let him go for good because he just vanished on a particularly difficult night for everyone and didn’t give anything for closure. It wasn’t about Bruno annoying them or reminding them indirectly of a traumatic experience. He was a family member that no one could fully understand and that left them. Add that to the fact that the Madrigals didn’t have a good grasp on communication until the ending of their movie, and you have a pretty clear picture of what would follow.

I loved the way Hades was portrayed in the Percy Jackson tv series. He gave me awkward uncle at a family reunion vibes, almost like Bruno Madrigal, and it really played into the fact that at the end of the day they really are family. The whole family aspect was kind of nice in this week’s episode - Crusty remarking that Percy has their father’s eyes, Sally and Poseidon’s little talk, even Hades’ awkward attempt at nautical humour in order to relate to Percy, the son of the sea god: “I like the cut of your jib.” It was just really sweet, and it was sweet when he was offering to protect Percy, because Hades really is a sweetheart.

Mateo Vicente Madrigal Fontana

He is a twin, and the oldest child of his family. His gift is to make astral trips to any part of the world by meditation. When he's using his gift, a third eye glows pink on his forehead and he can also levitate. He's the edgy cousin of the family.

Fun facts about him:

Mateo doesn't like his middle name (Vicente). The only one who can call him that is his mother.

He's a calm boy, but gets into trouble very often 'cause he has no filter and can sound "rude."

He's Itzel's favorite child, and they're very close.

He and his twin sister are the closest, and do many things together, and although sometimes he can't stand her and treats her rudely, he's always behind his sister, protecting her.

He likes poetry and is a hopeless romantic.

His favorite place is the beach, and he goes there whenever he needs peace.

When he uses his gift, the pink third eye that appears on his forehead is real and functional. His sister sometimes pokes it to annoy him.

He likes to meditate in Dolores' room.

He's the only one of the Madrigal-Fontana children who got Bruno's wavy hair.

Dalia Elizabeth Madrigal Fontana

She's Dalia, Mateo's twin sister. Dalia has the gift of making clones of herself and other people. She can make up to five clones, and they function as a hive mind if she wants. She can also let them act on autopilot. She's daddy's little princess, and the spoiled brat of her family.

Fun facts about her:

Dalia is Bruno's favorite child. The two of them formed a very strong bond since she was a baby, and Bruno fulfills many of her whims. For the same reason, she grew up accustomed to getting what she wants, and if she doesn't get it, she gets frustrated and cries. She knows that's not okay, and it's something she's still working on.

Since she was a child she's very involved in the theater that her father founded and he relates a lot with her cousin Camilo, so she loves to act, and her biggest influences are the two of them. For that reason she got a gift similar to Camilo's.

Her way of showing affection, in addition words of affirmation, are her jokes. She likes to play pranks on her close family and friends.

She shows off her family quite a bit, and she's a big fan of her parents' relationship.

She gets into trouble easily because she is very talkative, mischievous and witty.

She has a strong sense of loyalty toward her loved ones, so she's the first to defend them when they are getting attacked. More specifically, Bruno and Esmeralda.

Her best friend is her twin brother, and they both watch each other's backs.

She is a good girl, but it's better to have her as a friend than an enemy, because she brings out the worst side of her.

Perla Esmeralda Madrigal Fontana

And this is Esme, the youngest of the Madrigal grandchildren. Her gift is earthbending. She's a sweet and naive girl, and since her power is directly related to her emotional strength, she's unable to get out of control. She has had problems in the town due to the limited scope of her power, and they often compare her negatively with her father.

Fun facts about her:

Esmeralda is considered the baby of the family, and her parents and siblings treat her as such.

She is abuela's favorite granddaughter because of her resemblance to Bruno, and since Esme was a child, she's been overprotective of her.

She's also very close to Julieta's daughters, especially Isabela. As a child she took her gardening together, which influenced her gift of earthbending.

Despite being introverted, she has always been a very sociable and kind girl, although a little naive.

She is such a crybaby.

She takes guitar lessons with her dad and Mirabel.

She also likes to do crafts with her mom. The two of them are in charge of making the scenery for Bruno's plays.

She is the most attached to Bruno's rats of the Madrigal-Fontana children, and there isn't a day when she doesn't have a rat on top of her.

Of her siblings, she's the most similar to the Madrigal family, and she inherited many of her abuelo Pedro's traits.

She doesn't get along well with her maternal grandmother, who has always preferred her sister Dalia for being more like the Fontanas.

I don't think I've ever published anything of my fankids here, sooo... here they are! I tried to use a color palette consistent with the Madrigal family, without filling it completely with green. It was also very fun to make the patterns representative of their gifts.

Do you know how popular headcanon about Luisa being a sweetheart who'd never hurt a fly?

I mean, I don't think that Luisa is violent type, but if you think for a moment..

She's the only Madrigal who used a physical violence in the movie intentionally in order protect Mirabel. While it most likely happens in imagination, Luisa still kills Cerberus during surface pressure. And Cerberus is one out of three characters who died in the movie (Two if concidered that Casita came back to life)

She also doesn't seem reluctant, she actually acts pretty determined, like grabs the weapon herself and doesn't hestitate to attack back.

And the song makes a huge focus on Luisa's protectiveness toward Mirabel. It seems to be pretty big part of her personality.

So, yes, I feel that Luisa will fight to keep her family safe. I doubt she'd want to tho, she doesn't seem like she's having fun in the scene. (But we talk about what she will do, not what she wanted to do)

Younger!Bruno AU, because I have no self-control

Félix knew, logically, that Pepa’s little brother had just turned eleven. He’d seen Bruno around, but only ever at a distance. The kid didn’t hang around much and when he was around he was usually with Alma, Julieta or Pepa. Never alone.

But now, up close, Bruno didn’t even look eleven. He looked younger; tiny and scrawny, with big green eyes like Pepa’s. He was standing slightly behind Pepa, peering up at Félix shyly, twisting his ruana between his hands.

“Brunito, say hello,” Pepa said. She took one of Bruno’s hands, gently detangling it from the ruana and grasping it reassuringly. Bruno mumbled, “Hola,” not quite looking at Félix properly.

The poor kid looked exhausted. Pepa had mentioned the latest few visions had taken a lot out of him.

Smiling, Félix held his hand out. “Good to meet you, hombrecito,” he said cheerfully. “I’m Félix.”

Bruno looked at his offered hand dubiously, like he wasn’t sure what it was. After a moment, he took Félix’s hand and shook it. For such a little guy, he had a good grip.

He really didn’t look eleven at all. Well, Félix knew the feeling: he’d always been mistaken for younger too. Still was sometimes, despite being sixteen and he was quite proud of his facial hair, thanks very much. He’d like to think that height didn’t matter, but he also knew all too well that some kids could be real jerks about it. 

Bruno’s lips twitched up in a small, shy smile. “You too,” he said, still looking at the ground. Pepa beamed at them both, sunshine around her head. She let go of Bruno’s hand and Bruno stepped back again, but didn’t hide behind her this time.

Well, guess I’m looking after you now, Félix thought. Because even then, even in that first meeting, it was painfully obvious that Bruno needed someone on his side; someone who wasn’t a member of his family. 

So Félix promised himself that, even if he and Pepa didn’t work out (though of course they would, they were soul mates, he was sure of it) he’d still keep an eye out for Bruno.

After all, everyone needed a friend. Shy little prophets were no exception.
