I can’t get over the fact that we’ve never, not ever, seen Colin Robinson this vulnerable before (excluding his year of youth where he didn’t have his memories).

i wonder if zelda brought back little pieces of ancient hyrule with her. her cadence shifting slightly to that of sonia’s or mineru’s. her looking up when someone speaks to her, almost expecting her gaze to be met by the towering figure of a zonai. small behavioural shifts subtle enough to only be recognised by her appointed knight, slight changes in wardrobe and quiet hums of songs link cant quite recognise. how quickly did they accept zelda into their culture, and how much of it lives on through her?

I've said this before on the podcast (Episode 66 FYI) but Tampongate isn't actually a funny story. Two people had their calls listened to by a random stranger who picked them up on a radio. They sold the audio from one of those calls to the press, who published them on the front pages, and then for 30 years the victims have been relentlessly mocked for the content of the calls, have had people call for them to lose their jobs and even in 2023 have seen supposedly professional journalists slut shaming them. All while the stranger who recorded them and the press who published them have never once been criticised for that incident. Even after the phone hacking scandal, even after Kate's topless photos were published without her consent, even with the current narrative the British press are all irredeemably evil, there has still never been recognition that actually it's incredibly gross that it happened

it's the way callum only thought of the cube in the first place because rayla came over and took an interest in his drawing and then drew the primal symbols in his book herself. it's in the way callum only has the damn thing because he convinced rayla that they should make a detour and even when things go south and he's fine with abandoning it, rayla still retrieves it for him (and gets captured and nearly killed as a result). it's in the way callum tells her it's in the game room and she's the one who finds it in a box of toys, the way she asserts, "i hope it was worth it to you, putting everyone's live in danger" for a children's toy. it's the way he messes with it the next day and she tells him "this doesn't end well for you." it's the way the letter that rayla kicked out of his hand is what tells him its connection to aaravos. how rayla walks right when he asks "a key to what?" and ties the game motif right back in. it's the way the one time the cube has actually been helpful to him is highlighting the moon opal in 3x08 in order to help rayla. it's the way soren grabs the cube and it goes between moon and star ceaselessly in the season four premiere. it's the way stella nabs it and then holds it on rayla's shoulder as she steps through, illuminated in light, and distracting callum from the mirror while still bearing the upside down seal of aaravos. it's how when they're on the bridge of darkness, the light is dangerous and they only get attacked because the cube glows from the dropped moon opal that's already been compared to rayla. it's the way callum equates dropping the cube to regaining more agency, inspired by rayla telling him to just choose another path, but he can't. it's how his pawn intro plays again in s5 because he chose the light - he chose rayla - by also choosing darkness, because even though callum worries over a path of darkness, he should also be worried about a path of light - the cube and pearl glow a bright, brilliant white flash after all.

so i've spoken before abt how jace might've insisted on postponing his and baela's wedding till after the dance (despite ample opportunity/mutual desire) bc his love for her wanted to give her a ceremony without death looming over it. and that his fear for her compelled him not to wed and inevitably bed her when the tragedy of three harrowing labors might take what should be a joyful time away from them and - even more than that - take his beloved baela from him.

but what if, and bear with me for a moment, what if beyond rhaenyra and laena and rhaenys - all three women robbed, in some way shape or form, of a queendom - jace's thoughts took him to another targaryen ancestor, robbed of her birthright, burdened with the loss of her husband, and left alone to defend and protect their children from usurpers? maybe i'm just spitballing but what if jace's nights during the dance were haunted by the memory of rhaena targaryen, black bride, queen of the west, queen of the east, and whose ghost yet haunts the halls of harwin's his father's home at harrenhal?

what if he sees his baela, bold and brave and so beautiful, and knows - gods willing - he'll make her his queen. what if jace sees her and wants so many things for her but not one of those things is to make a rhaena targaryen of her. rhaena who was queen of the west and queen of the east but never ruled as queen of westeros in her own right - and, in trying to spare baela of that fate, jace dies anyway.

and she becomes a bit like rhaena regardless: robbed of her love and her crown.
