Yaser Abdel Said murdered his two daughters in Honor Killing

Said was an American taxi driver who was married to Patricia and had three children, a son named Islam and two daughters, Amina, 18, and Sarah, 17. He had moved from Egypt to America in 1987, Patricia was 15 when she agreed to marry Said, aged 30 to let him remain in the country.

Said controlled his daughters, as well as sexually assaulting and abusing them. The girls confided in their grandmother (Patricia’s mother) what their father was doing to them, and she called the police, Patricia didn’t want Said to go to prison so she told her daughters to recount their confessions and therefore he continued abusing them. Said would record them without their knowledge, he would go through their phones and have Islam follow them when he wasn’t around. There is video footage that he filmed of his daughters, making sleazy comments and in one video his daughter covers herself with a pillow and screams at him, ‘This is illegal’. When Amina turned 16, he took her to Egypt and told her it was for a holiday, but when he was there he attempted to marry her to his male friend who was aged 50. Amina rang her mother and begged her to help her stop the marriage from going ahead; Said agreed that Islam (who was the oldest child) should marry first.

Said wasn’t happy when he discovered his daughters were dating and in 2007 the girls told their mother that Said had threatened to kill Amina. Patricia and her daughters fled and Said reported his wife and daughter’s missing to the police. Patricia missed her son Islam and secretly got into contact with Said. She told her daughters that she was taking them to visit their grandmother’s grave but that was a lie, she then confessed that she was taking them back to their father. The girls were frightened, however, Sarah obeyed her mother, and Amina initially refused to return and stayed at her boyfriend’s family home. Patricia went over to visit Amina and told her that Said had forgiven them and talked her into returning. Amina said to her boyfriend, ‘My father will never let me see you again’. A few hours later both girls would be dead.

On 1 January 2008, Said told his daughters he was going to take them out to dinner, instead of taking them out to dinner; he drove them to a deserted parking spot and shot dead his daughters. At 7:35pm, Sarah rang 911 and told the operator that she had been shot, ‘My dad shot me and my sister. I’m dying’ The operator heard her get shot again and this was when Sarah died. He had killed Amina first and then shot Sarah nine times. Their bodies were discovered in his abandoned taxi in Irving, Texas at the back of a hotel. Said had contacted his brother Yassein, before and after he murdered his daughters. Patricia later said that her husband believed his daughters were too westernized and ‘too American’.

Said went into hiding and wasn’t found until 2020 in Justin, Texas. He, his son, and Yassein were arrested. He was sentenced to life in prison. Patricia wasn’t punished by the law for her involvement.

The fact that Judaism is trending because of both the wave of bomb threats on synagogues and Bradley Cooper's Antisemitism Adventure (his huge fake prosthetic nose, and him basically stealing the story from a Jewish man) is so infuriating and so exhaustingly typical.

The fact that I see Judaism trending on Tumblr and immediately think "oh no. Something Bad is happening to us." We're never trending cause it's fucking good. I never get to be excited, it's just cold dread.

The fact that Antisemitism is getting worse everyday and the only ones who ever talk about it are other Jews. The fact that no one else fucking cares. The only ones who support us are other Jews. Even when gentiles talk about Nazis or white supremacists they don't want to help us. We're just their prop, the canary in the coal mine and the perfect victim.

The fact that everyone's uncomfortable with Jews still being here. Reminding them of things they'd rather forget.

The fact that it'd be easier for them if we were all dead. Then they could tell stories about our people, dressed in offensive caricatures, without us making a fuss.

i am so obsessed with how like. taken as read the ot3 are at this point. like on the one hand it feels like they've been building up to this for ages but on the other hand it kind of feels like i blinked and we skipped right past some Major Turning Point where everything got spelled out and we're just already in firmly Established Relationship-land. obviously tarvek is too well-protected for anyone to assassinate openly, look how angry his boyfriend and girlfriend are at the idea of anyone threatening him. at this point i'm half-convinced agatha's just going to refer to her boyfriends in passing to someone else and no one's even going to comment on it until van finds out twenty pages later and immediately starts making everyone pay up

Tamlin is actually such an underrated character in acotar. Because of feyres very biased narrative she forces readers to ignore the complexity of his character and man. its sad

Tamlin is a character who is genuinely GOOD at his core. He changed so much of the spring court for good, eliminating slavery within the spring lands and mortals having more protection. Hes a morally good character that made a few mistakes and is boiled down to just those mistakes. Locking feyre in the house and the magical/emotional blow up, which are both pretty decent fuck ups (i dont think siding with hybern fully counts as he was a double agent all along and tamlin was decently justified in thinking feyre was being kept against her will. lets be fr here) and even after he’s extremely fucked over by the nightcourt, his lands and court burned to shit, he still saves rhysand. Saves rhysand and tells feyre to be happy, even when he has every reason to NOT do that!

Hes a character that clearly holds himself to a higher standard. throughout acotar he puts lucien and feyres safety above his own, even sending feyre away when she was the only one who could save him. Even though what he did to her wasnt great its not completely irredeemable, rhysand did much worse things to feyre and other people but hes living his best life while Tamlin seems to find himself unworthy of being a person (acosf wheres hes been in beast form for roughly over two years) hes a perfectionist who now doesnt even think he deserves anyone because he accidentally hurt the people he loves most.

Sjm accidentally created a beautifully rich and morally righteous character who is so extremely fucked by the narrative. Which doesnt even work half the time as sjm cant seemingly commit to making him a full villain (seemingly by accident again she gave him quite a reasonable explanation to everything he did ‘wrong’ but still chooses to make him a punching bag)

If Tamlin was genuinely a morally evil character he wouldnt have NEARLY the amount of fans as he does. Hes a character that requires the minimum amount of media literacy and comprehension to understand and i LOVE him.
