The Revelation of Light and Dark
The Revelation of Light and Dark is the first book in the series Chronicles of the Stone Veil and now has its own audiobook by RB media, who were very kind to gift me this ALC via @netgalley.
This book tells the story of Finley, a girl who has suffered all her life from hallucinations and is the twin sister of a successful art dealer. Finley on the contrary works in a cafe but soon is presented with the opportunity to buy the business… but she needs much more money than she’ll ever be able to get on her own. Her sister helps her with a bit but Finley will require an investor. And that investor will change her life forever.
This book has greatly surpassed my expectations despite not much being revealed within the first book. It creates an excellent base to carry on with the series and there is good character development and a terrific plot twist that I never saw coming.
There is also a tiny hint of romance which I absolutely love.
When it comes to the narration of this audiobook, it is 5 out of 5. We have a dual point of view in this audiobook, and equally, we have two great narrators to match Finley's and Garrik's personalities which makes the whole experience more enjoyable.
Thank you @netgalley and @recordedbooks for this ARC/ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Coen Highsmith was a league star, but he lost more than his team the day the Pittsburgh Titans’ plane crashed. Can he be saved from his downward spiral of guilt and regret to become the man he once was?
I had it all—a successful hockey career, the respect and adoration of the fans, a rotation of beautiful women warming my bed, and a feeling of self-worth and contentment with the direction of my life. But that all changed the day the team plane went down, taking my only chance of redemption with it. Now I’m left with the daily reminder of all my failures and my inability to correct them.
My new teammates are tired of my attitude and following my suspension, I hole up in a mountain cabin to get away from all of it. The isolation is exactly what I need to get out of my own head, and I’m beginning to think I could be content in this quiet forever.
Tillie Marshall isn’t the type of woman who would usually catch my attention, yet she manages to do so for all the wrong reasons. I’m here for the peace and seclusion but the quirky artist is hell-bent on destroying that by cutting down the trees that separate our properties so she can open a pottery studio. If it’s a fight she wants, it’s a fight she’ll get. I have the money and the time and no issues bringing her down through the court system. While I see flashes of steely determination within her, I’ve found that being a jerk comes naturally these days and she won’t be hard to intimidate.
Unfortunately, that gorgeous and somewhat odd neighbor who has been causing me grief is creating another type of feeling within me. And once that spark is lit, Tillie displays a faith in me that for the first time since the crash I desperately want to believe. Now it’s time for me to step up and become the man—no, a better man than I once was.

REVIEW
The Shadow Princess by Sawyer Bennett
Chronicles of the Stone Veil #6
Set in a different dimension from the previous five books of the series but still part of the complex interconnected Earth system, this story tells of second chances, royalty at risk, an evil sorceress, daemons, fae, and more. Some of the characters were from the previous five books but new ones and new realms unseen before were also introduced.
What I liked: * Bastien Dunne: Commandant of Vyronas’ army, strong, wise, protective, gave more than most would to protect the princess he was engaged to, believes he will never love again…will he?
* Thalia Clairmont: princess of Vyronas, in hiding for seven years, brought back to thwart the evil sorceress and save her people, still feels stubborn Bastien is her soul mate.
* Kieran: Bastien’s younger brother, warrior, a bit more carefree and outgoing, wouldn’t mind seeing him in a book of his own.
* Maddox from book one showing up along with mention of the Gods and Zora – now a God, along with Amell…trying to remember Amell as I type this review. Might have to revisit the previous book…
* The dynamics and discourse between Bastien and Thalia as they find out whether or not their love can be rekindled
* The backstory explaining the situation
* Her uncle Heph’s part in the story
* Great world building, plot, writing, character development and potential for future books in the series
* Wondering if Amell’s story or someone else’s will come next
* Knowing that this series has many more potential books to look forward to.
 What I didn’t like:
* Ferelith – evil sorceress bent on domination using dark blood magic to gain what she wants
* The traitor…and others that were also so very easy to dislike
* That there must have been so much suffering by so many – just as there is with war anytime it happens
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
 4-5 Stars
BLURB
Living an idyllic life in Wyoming, Thalia Clairmont is completely unaware that her world is about to be turned upside down. Step into the next dimension with The Shadow Princess, the newest story in The Chronicles of the Stone Veil series from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett. My name is Thalia Clairmont and I am heir to the throne of Vyronas. A title that was unknown to me after the love of my life, Bastien Dunne, had me stripped of my memories and sent me through the veil into another dimension. He maintains it was for my protection after my parents were killed and our kingdom was overthrown, but I see it as a betrayal. Overwhelmed by my feelings of both love and anger for Bastien, I quickly understand that things aren’t what they once were. Vyronas is at war and an evil sorceress has claimed my throne by casting her blood magic to subjugate my people. With my memories returned, I realize Bastien isn’t the man I once loved and has instead become a distant, hardened warrior whose heart is as cold as ice. My magic alone cannot defeat the blood sorcery, so I delve into the deepest shadows to find a way to regain control of my kingdom. Can I defeat evil without succumbing to the darkness? And will Bastien and I be able to reclaim the love we once shared? I am the Shadow Princess and it’s time for me to reclaim my throne. The Shadow Princess is a standalone second chance romance with a fantastical flourish within The Chronicles of the Stone Veil series.

Complex and well rounded characters don’t always have to be ‘queen bees’ and ‘bad boys’. Characters who are kind and generous yet flawed can be complex too. Hell, the flaws are what make them complex.

NEW RELEASE!
Tumblr media
Camden (Pittsburgh Titans, Book #8)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: August 1, 2023
Synopsis:
Camden Poe is the last of The Lucky Three, the surviving Pittsburgh Titans who weren’t on the team plane the night it went down. By all outward appearances, he’s adjusted to post-crash life well but inside he’s wrestling with the guilt of living.
The catastrophe that killed the Pittsburgh Titans changed my entire world. My teammates were more than my friends—they were my brothers. I mourned their loss with the rest of the nation but then I did as I’ve been taught… I moved on. I focused on returning to the ice with the newly rebuilt team and put the tragedy behind me. Considering the circumstances, I adjusted well. Or so I thought. Now I’m plagued by nightmares of the crash and my play has suffered as a result. Facing the possibility of losing my place on the team, I need to pull myself together and fast.
My buddy and linemate, Mitch Brandt died in the crash, leaving his wife Danica and son Travis behind to pick up the pieces of their shattered family. After reconnecting with Danica at a support group meeting, I find myself inexplicably drawn to helping her and her son move forward. What starts as two friends finding solace in one another following a tragedy becomes something more, leaving us both wondering if we deserve this chance.
I feel as if I’m walking a precarious line between a man falling for an incredible woman and a man moving in on his dead friend’s wife. But one thing is crystal clear—I’ve found a peace with Danica that I wasn’t sure I’d ever have again. Now I need to find the confidence within myself to push past the insecurities and make sure she knows how important she is to me because if I don’t, I’ll lose the one thing that makes me truly complete.

My Review
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is book eight of the Pittsburgh Titans Series and I have been waiting for Camden’s story and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. Full of heartwarming and heartbreaking moments, that are emotional, tender, aspiring and romantic, as this friends to lovers trope brings a second chance of love to a widow and her son. A beautiful story that brings all the feels and emotions that held me captive until the end.
Camden Poe is one of the lucky three players, who weren’t on the fateful flight the night of the tragic crash, that took the entire team’s lives. Although he thought he had grieved and mourned, and accepted that he was granted grace while others were not, as the first anniversary of the Pittsburgh Titans’ plane crash gets closer, he is plagued with more nightmares and they’ve gotten worse. With his job on the line his coach gives him an ultimatum. He must attend the next
support group for all the loved ones and friends left behind, which is now more of a social network where they meet every Sunday afternoon and talk. And that is where he sees her again.
Danica Brandt lost her husband Mitch when that plane went down. In the last year she and her son (9yo)Travis have struggled to put their loss behind them. She stayed in Pittsburgh and continues to go to the Sunday support get-togethers that have helped her immensely, since Brienne Norcross the owner of the Pittsburgh Titans started them.
After struggling with finances after the tragedy, she was thrilled as well as apprehensive, when she was selected to run a new charity Brienne created and named after her brother called the Adam Norcross Charitable Foundation. She will be the face of this new global foundation that is for dependents, professional athletes and support staff, who have either died or become incapacitated and can’t play anymore. And it’s for all sports not just hockey.
When Camden runs into Danica at the get-together he offers to come and help her son with some hockey tips, but he also eagerly accepts her invitation to help her with an upcoming sponsor event for the charity.
Danica is so busy trying to give Travis a good life and work a new career, dating and relationships are far down on her list of priorities. Until on Camden’s 26th birthday, Danica goes to the celebration and when he walks her to her car they almost kiss.
These two struggle with their growing feelings for one another but their chemistry is sizzling. Omg! All the butterflies, giddiness… the excitement of being near each other will have you squirming in your seat. But what will Camden do when he starts to feel guilty? What will his teammates think? You will have to read to find out all the juicy details. Loved these three together!
I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
