ok actually though. I really love the narrative mirror of the slow shift in the tide for the Banite cult of Baldur's Gate. Like Durge was already disposed of and replaced and they were the literal child of a god. Gortash is just some cunt with bad breeding and too many schemes. The beginnings of a coup getting it's boots on while the Absolute plot begins to fall apart from his fellow Banites who are looking for any proof (or weak point) to knock him off his pedestal after he did all the heavy lifting to establish the cult in BG is such a Banite move.
if the game wont give me political intrigue i'll make it up myself.
To find that a Husband or Wife you will need some bay leaves and something to write with.
On the bay leafs write down all the things you like or want in a person then burn one from noon to sunset each day until they all gone while reading the Psalms Of Solomon. (If it on one leaf that's fine)
Then just wait and watch for He or She to show themselves.
Today, I called my mentee (who is in their early-twenties, Afro-Latinx, grew up in poverty and the city, and is non-binary) and encouraged them to go vote.
I told them that (a) they’d get to vote for the first openly Lesbian Governor in the state (country? have to double check) and (b) that there was a ballot question that would deny undocumented persons from getting drivers’ licenses - an issue that I knew would impact at least some of their family and friends.
They got up, walked a mile to their polling station (despite having a disability that makes walking difficult), and waited in line to vote. AND they texted their friends to make sure they were going too.
And then some asshole decided to take the opportunity to demand that they explain their “he/him/they” button on their bag because they “look like a girl” ... and was apparently also trash talking our soon-to-be future Governor for being a lesbian.
They texted me asking “should I say something or just walk away” and I said, don’t bother with them. Go into that precinct and vote. That’s the best revenge you can get. So they did.
Honestly, with everything The System has put them threw, I wouldn’t even blame them if they said “to hell with voting” but after voting for the first time in 2020, I’ve really encouraged them to remember that their vote DOES count. That if they want change, we all have to do our part.
And that if voting out of spite is what gets them there, that’s a perfectly valid reason to vote.
Vote for yourself.
Vote for the vulnerable people in your life.
Vote for my mentee, who lives in a world that constantly feels under attack.
Vote for spite.
Vote for the sticker.
Vote Blue.
The GQP and MAGA movement only has the power we give it. If my mentee who had no transportation, doesn’t follow politics closely, is disabled, and doesn’t read as well in English has the will and confidence to go vote, we all should. And if we all did, the GOP would and should be quaking in their (proverbial) wing tips.
