Burdensome [Overhaul x Reader]
cw: self-doubt, loneliness, cursing, food mention
other: gn! reader, angst(?), dialogue heavy so you’ll have to scroll a bit (sorry)
wc: 3.1k
synopsis: you were growing tired of feeling so far away from your boyfriend who was just down the hallway.
Tumblr media
The music from your headphones stopped abruptly, causing you to whip out your phone from your pocket, only to be greeted by the no battery sign flashing on your screen. You let out an annoyed sigh and turned around to make your way to your room to charge it. You thought it had to be late or at least getting late because your phone had been fully charged when you started pacing around the compound. You tried to peek into the office as you passed by, but there were two low ranking members of the coveted Shie Hassaikai stationed outside who obstructed your view. “The boss is working.” One dismissed you, his voice gruff.
“Isn’t it past your bedtime anyways?” The two snickered as you stomped past. You contemplated telling them off and whether or not you should tell Kai when you see him next, but you decided against both. You knew he had a lot on his plate and you didn’t want to add to it, more so than you felt you already did. The winding halls were quiet, your steps echoed as you neared your room. You couldn’t remember the last time you did anything with your boyfriend and you felt terrible. That alone caused a pit to form in your stomach. You plugged in your phone and plopped onto your desk chair, shaking your mouse to wake your desktop. 3:42am was displayed on the corner of the screen, it really was late and Kai was still working. You tried to find something to watch to keep you awake until he inevitably came to join you, but nothing interested you. You thought about playing a game, but as soon as you booted one up you no longer wanted to play.
You grabbed your phone and drafted out a text, “hey are you going to be done soon? it’s pretty late and i didn’t see you once today. i miss you, you know.” You furiously backspaced the message, like you always did, because you didn’t want to bother him. You slammed your phone down out of frustration and breathed in deeply to prevent any crying. It had been months since you moved in and you could count on your fingers how many times you’ve actually done anything with Kai outside of the four walls of your shared bedroom, if you could even consider it shared at this point. He was always busy and you understood that, but if he was so goddamn busy all the time why did you have to be so bored out of your mind all the time? You knew you could go out if you really wanted to, but you’d have to tell him first and he’d assign someone to keep you safe if he himself couldn’t. You knew it bothered him when you went out anyways, so you only went out when he’s the one who proposes it. But it wasn’t fair, you only moved in because he was incessant about it, saying how he wanted you close, practically begging. Sometimes when he was laying next to you it felt like he was miles away. You wanted to scream, the tears you tried to shrug off began to form in your eyes. You wanted to be able to help him, he told you in the past that you just being there helps him, but you knew it was bullshit. You placed your head in your hands and let it all out as your mind raced. He wasn’t a bad boyfriend, he did care about you, but he had a goal he was set on before he met you. He did come to bed every night, or at least to your knowledge, he came to bed every night. Most times he just slipped in without waking you and slipped out in the same manner. He had only woken you up a few times and he apologized profusely in those instances. Your eyes started to sting and you could feel the tears drying on your cheeks. You mustered up all your energy to stand up and shuffle over to the en suite bathroom to wash your face.
The cold water was refreshing, but it made you jump a little. You brought both hands to your face and dragged your fingers from the inner corners to the outer corners of your eyes, out to your temples, and down your jaw. You stared at your reflection, you looked drained and you were, rightfully so. You crossed the threshold of your room and scanned the room, looking for something to keep you occupied. Your eyes landed on an old notebook you brought from home, you took it over to the desk and scrounged around for a pen. You figured if you couldn’t say all the things you thought to him, the least you could do was write it to get it out of your brain. Much like your failed text messages, you only wrote a few lines before scribbling them out and ripping out the page, just to crumple it. On your fifth attempt, you actually managed to write the whole thing out. The second you wrote your name at the bottom of the page, you slammed your notebook shut. Again, you checked the time, 4:57am. The sun was going to rise soon, if Kai hadn’t returned by now, he wouldn't. Part of you wanted to bring him a blanket in his office, but the other part of you was far too tired and didn’t feel like trekking back just to be greeted by those two idiots at his door. You tossed and turned for a long while before falling asleep. You woke up to a knock at the door, you sat up groggily to check if Kai was next to you, He wasn’t, causing your heart to sink a bit.
“Y/N?” The familiar voice belonged to Kurono. “You didn’t come for breakfast before, so I figured I’d bring you lunch.” He opened the door slowly, to make sure he didn’t startle you.
“What time is it? You scratched your head.
“Almost 2.” He extended the plate of food to you.
“Where’s Kai? Thanks by the way!” You smiled as you grabbed the plate from him.
“He has a meeting with some on the rise villain soon, so he’s preparing his general spiel, you know how he is.” Of course he was working, you nodded as you rose to walk and set the plate on the desk, pushing things aside to make room..
“Did you see him this morning?” You wanted to stop prodding, but the words left your mouth before you could think.
“Yes. Why is something wrong?”
“Forget I asked. Thanks again for the food.”
“Ah okay, and please refrain from walking around today. We don’t know this guy well and Kai wouldn’t want anything to happen to you.” He walked out the door, making sure to shut it behind him. This whole thing was starting to get to you, so much so that your food tasted bland. Even though it was your favorite dish, something felt off. You thought about blowing up his phone again, but apparently it’s an important meeting and you wouldn’t want to ruin it, whatever it was. Confined to your room for the day, you just put on some dumb sitcom and laid in bed scrolling through your phone. You even scrolled through old chat logs between you and Kai, it reminded you how sweet this all felt. A familiar warmth grew in your chest, as you reminisced. You thought moving in would guarantee that you would wake up next to him every morning and that the two of you would tell each other everything, how naive of you. When you started dating the head of a yazuka organization, you didn’t expect much out of it, but you expected something. Hours passed as you wallowed in your room, until you heard a knock at the door again. “Dinner is served!” Kurono said way too cheerily as he walked in.
“Thanks.” You didn’t have the energy to match his demeanor.
“Sorry about you being cooped up in here today, I’m sure he’ll make it up to you.” He picked up your plate from lunch and swapped it with the dinner plate. You felt sick and much to his concern, you looked it too. “Are you feeling okay?”
Of course you weren’t, “Yeah, just a bit annoyed.” A bit. The whole situation was laughable, he couldn’t walk down the halls himself to check in on you, or share a meal. Instead he sends his lackey to feign interest in how you felt.
“Well if there’s anything I can do, just let me know.”
“You can leave.” You knew you shouldn’t take this out on him of all people, but you couldn’t keep the mask on anymore. Without another word, he up and left, leaving you alone once again. You just sat in bed, spacing out, not focussing on anything in particular. The show you had on had stopped playing, who knows how long ago,so the room was quiet. Sitting in bed became laying in bed and at some point you fell asleep, but that was short lived. Kai actually showed up, he was careful to not wake you, trying his best to be light on his feet. He looked over at your sleeping figure and smiled to himself, then gave the room a once over and noticed your dinner untouched. He shook his head, picked up the plate and brought it out of the room, when he came back in he saw that you were sitting upright.
“Kai! You’re back.” You exclaimed, half awake. You quite couldn’t tell if it was a dream or not, so you reached your arms out towards him.
“Listen, I’m sorry for waking you and about today. I know being in here alone all day wasn’t the best, but I had to make sure you would be safe.” You felt the bed dip down a bit as he sat beside you, holding your hands in his.
“Did you send Hari to check on me?”
“Yes. Why?” He tilted his head slightly, raising a brow.
You couldn’t stifle your laugh, “Are you serious?”
There was visible confusion on his face, “Are you suggesting that I shouldn’t have?”
“I’m suggesting that maybe you should have.” Your voice broke when you placed emphasis on ‘you’, causing you to look away from him. He was at a loss for words, you’d never talked to him like that before. You pressed your lips tightly together and shook your head slightly in disbelief when you saw him stop himself from speaking. “What am I to you, Kai?”
“What?”
“Just answer the question.” All the frustration you had felt was pouring out of you, making your words sting.
“Everything.” He locked eyes with you, but you turned away.
“You’re a terrible liar. We both know that isn’t true. If you’re saying it because it’s what you think I want to hear then it makes this even worse. Please, just tell me the truth.”
“Y/N, please. I’m too tired to argue.” He leaned his back against the headboard.
“I’m not trying to argue, I’m just trying to talk to my boyfriend.”
“We can talk tomorrow.” He said as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Oh, can we now? You sure you’re not gonna be busy again?” You could feel the anger building inside of you. He could feel that the energy in the room switched..
“I—“
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” You cut him off and made your way to the door.
He mimicked your actions, “Where are you going?”
“For a walk, you know since I didn’t get to leave this fucking room today.”
“I’m coming with you.”
“No, you’re not because you’re too tired, remember?”
“But—“
“I won’t be long.” You exited the room, chest heavy, legs moving as if you had weights tied to your ankles. You walked to the end of the hall and back, counting your breaths to calm yourself and to prevent spiraling further. You stood a couple of feet before the doorway for a while, contemplating just walking out completely. You let out a deep sigh and stepped up to the doorway. The scene in front of you made you feel as though a ton of bricks had just been dropped on you. There he was standing over your desk, notebook in hand, a small tremor visible in his hands. “What are you–Kai, I, I’m sorry.” He looked so hurt, something you’ve never seen. He looked up at you and tried to collect his thoughts, but as his eyes met yours all he could see was the words he had just read.
Kai,
I don’t know how to say any of this or if I’ll ever even get the chance to say all this. I love you, I do, but it feels like our relationship is just an afterthought or rather I’m an afterthought. I understand that you’re busy with work, that’s why I’ve held on to this as long as I did. It’s also why I try to avoid bothering you. You have so much on your shoulders, I don’t want to be burdensome, but maybe having me move in was a bad idea. We rarely get to see one another and most of the time we spend together is sleeping. I want to be a good partner, I want to make you happy, but it’s hard to do when I’m too worried to even send you a text. I worry about you, you work way too much, and I worry that one day it’ll become so important that you forget about me entirely. These days it feels like you’re some kind of urban legend and everyone I run into around the compound has a story about seeing you, yet I always miss out on the sighting. I don’t expect you to drop everything for me, I don’t want you too, I know how important your work is to you and how important to everyone it will be if it all goes right, but I expect something. I’m not asking for a mile here Kai, just a goddamn inch. God forbid I want to spend time with you or go out in town like a normal person without having to jump through hoops to get permission. You say it’s to keep me safe, so you can have me close, but it hurts. I’m sorry.
-y/n
He returned the book to its former position and sat gently on the edge of the bed, eyes focused on the floor. The room was filled with a sad silence, until he finally broke it. “Is that really how you feel?” He bit the inside of his lip, so he wouldn’t cry in front of you.
“It probably came off too harsh, I–” You felt so guilty for upsetting him.
“Do I really make you feel like this?” He had a pained expression on his face, brows furrowed slightly.
“Yeah, maybe, sometimes, I don’t know.” You rubbed the back of your neck, you couldn’t bring yourself to make eye contact. He looked at you and saw the tears welling in your eyes, his expression dropped even more. You tried to blink them away, but your eyes began to overflow and you couldn’t stop it. “I’m sorry.” You repeated over and over, each time more and more defeated. You couldn’t stand anymore, your chest hurt too much. You dropped yourself on the bed next to him.
“I’m sorry.” He brought your head to his shoulder as an attempt to soothe you. The contact with him made it feel real, he was there next to you, trying to make you feel better. You’ve missed his touch so much that it took everything in you not to fold instantly.
“It’s fine, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have written that.” You said between shaky breaths.
“You don’t deserve this. I’ll be better, y/n.” He placed his arm around your shoulders and began to trace patterns on your arm.
“So will I.” You sniffled, dragging your nose across the back in your hand.
“Huh? You have nothing to apologize for and nothing to be better at, you have done nothing wrong.” He placed emphasis on those last words, saying them slowly, making sure you heard them clearly. He got up to retrieve the tissue box from the nightstand. He handed you a tissue and used another to wipe your tears from your face, flashing you an apologetic smile.
“Thank you.” You blew your nose and tossed it in the bin.
“You know you can talk to me right?” He tilted your chin up so your eyes would meet his. His gaze was warm, no trace of annoyance on his face, just concern and genuine care.
“But you’re always doing something, I don’t want—”
“You could never be a burden to me. Knowing that you’re here puts me at ease, knowing that I can see you whenever I want warms my heart.” He held one of your hands in between both of his.
“Yeah, but I want to be able to see you whenever I want. It’s a two-way street, Kai. It isn’t fair that it’s always on your terms, and only on your terms.” You placed your free hand on top of his.
“I never thought of it like that, I didn’t realize my rules were such a hindrance.” He gave your hand a gentle squeeze before continuing, “I’m sorry, my dear, for these things I've made you feel, for the lack of time I've spent with you, all of it. I shouldn't have let someone so precious to me slip through the cracks. I’m going to be better, starting right now. Whatever you want to do tomorrow, we’ll do it.”
“Really?” You smiled for the first time in days. “Really, but you need to promise me something first.”
“What is it?”
“Promise me that you won’t stop yourself from reaching out to me anymore.”
“But what if you're busy?”
“I’ll let you know when it’s an important client, besides that you can come in whenever you want.”
“Then I promise.” You threw your arms around him and he returned your embrace, holding you tighter than he ever had before.
“Good.”
“But you’re gonna get sick of me quick.” You said as you nuzzled your face into the crook of his neck.
“You’re the one person I could never get sick of.” His words were sincere, he kept one hand on your back and brought the other up to cradle your head.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”

Setsuno walking in on s/o trying to surprise him by wearing something sexy for him(?)
(I miss the pretty blonde man so much)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
headcanon|scenario|imagine|match-up
I imagine he might just lose his mind.
It happens every time you do this for him. You get him worked up so easily that it's almost funny to watch.
He comes home from work and drops his bag right at the threshold of the bedroom door as soon as he sees you, scantily clad with your most private assets on display just for him. He mouth runs dry at the sight of your (s/c) skin dimly illuminated by the bedside table lamp. It's the way you smile warmly at him just before your eyes shift in a way that tells him you're up to no good.
As if it was hard to tell before...
And you walk up to him, approaching his frozen form with a sway to your hips beckoning his thin fingers to get a good grip on the supple skin there. You loosen his tie and lean up to leave him with a deep kiss that makes his lips tingle when you pull away. You leave him breathless, and above all...wanting. And when you make your way back to bed and call out to him in a low sultry tone to join you?
He wastes not a second more in getting over there. He's made up his mind.
Your outfit you decided to show off to him tonight won't last long. It's a promise.

Hi curious I hope you’re doing well again! But I had a dream involving kurono and for some reason we had kids so this is a part two to the whole pregnant s/o thing 😭
But could we have content of after Hari’s s/o brought home their baby?
Hii Hi! I’m so sorry this took so long, the holidays were so chaotic but I hope your holidays were lovely <3
➥ Hari would be horribly cautious when that baby first comes home. You see the hesitation of his movements when you hand the baby over to him. You’ve made jokes of him being slow before it’s different this time.
➧ You cradled the baby safely in your arms, making your way towards Hari. He blinked slowly, taking in your movement and actions as he assessed what you were doing. He made an unconscious set backwards, something you noticed immediately.  “Hold them.” You commanded calmly, knowing that not giving him a choice would force him out of his comfort zone. He realized you were being serious and moved forward to catch them as you shoved them into his arms. He froze in place, treating the baby like an awkward fragile heirloom. He hid the fear and panic well, except if you knew him. There was a little quirk in his eyebrows and you stifled a laugh.  “You’re not going to drop them, Hari.” You reassured, rubbing your hand soothingly along his arm. “You haven’t yet, you’ve got nothing to worry about.” “Yeah well one drop and this kid is gonna come out for fucked up than me.” He half joked, adjusting their head.  You pulled your hand back to slap his arm, making an irritated noise. “They’ve got your genetics, they're already screwed.” You responded.
➥ Hari hates his quirk. Is it helpful in certain situations? Of course it is, the same can be said for most quirks. But it’s a hassle to deal with, such as the awkward clumping it does which makes styling it impossible. And when you have a baby with grabby hands it makes for interesting conversations.
➧ “I’m going to preface this by saying it isn’t my fault.” Hari said from the other room.  You casually strolled back into the living room not giving his words much thought. He has said weirder things and has definitely said something similar after “accidentally” doing something stupid. You saw Hari standing with his back towards you. You made your way towards him, moving around him to see your baby laying in his arms. Then you noticed the slow movement of their hand slowly moving as it was currently wrapped around a strand of Hari’s hair. “Hari!” You shouted, moving quickly to carefully remove the baby’s hand from his hair. “What happened?!” “I was trying to explain to them not to touch my hair but they wouldn’t listen.” He explained, far too casually. “Despite my insistence on the matter.” “They’re barely three months, they’re not going to understand you dumbass!” You shouted, checking the baby’s hand to see a small cut on it and doing a quick check on what part of his hair they grabbed. “The hour hand, Hari?” “What? Like I forced them to grab that one.” He defended, looking slightly offended. A few moments passed as he watched you try to reassure the baby still in his arms. “…Maybe they’ll go to sleep?” “HARI!”
➥Hari will have casual conversations with baby anytime he’s left alone with them. One of the reasons he wasn’t too on board with having a baby was mostly due to the fact that he had no idea what to do with it. He’ll treat the kid as it grows up as a tiny adult. To your insistence he’ll filter some things…and at least wait until the kid is a certain age  before he’ll offer to teach them how to use a gun.
➧ “And then we got ahold of the traitorous two-timing bastard, killing him, obviously. Katsukame made a far bigger mess than Kai wanted, obviously. He’s the big dude, makes creepy comments, longtime family though so we have to put up with him. Anyways Kai got all uppity, obviously. I got out of clean up duty this time at least. Well…” Hari paused in his rambling, looking down at the bottles he was cleaning before he glanced back at the baby in its highchair nearby.  “Okay, well for that at least.”
➧ Hari was sat on the floor, various things scattered around him. He was currently in the process of cleaning one of his hand guns. He glanced around for a particular object, not seeing it as he started picking up random things to look. He spotted the baby grasping it in their tiny little hand, about to bring it to their mouth before Hari reached over and grabbed it. He glanced at the distance between them and the shit he had over the floor. “Okay, maybe you’re a little too close.” He mumbled to himself as he scooted himself over to drag the mat they were on further back.  He was a little too quick, nearly sending the baby off the mat before he caught them. He froze, waiting to see if they started crying. Taking a breath of relief when they started giggling. He laid them back down and shook his head.  “Babies are easy.”

[!TRIGGER WARNING!: This installment contains depictions of emotional duress. Stay safe!]
It had been over a month since the incident with Toga, after which Sir Nighteye advised that you, Mirio and Tamaki should stay in a secure location while the League's intentions were under investigation.
"They knew Tamaki was unfamiliar with you, which means that they've been hunting for a way into that apartment for quite a while." The Pro Hero had said, giving Mirio a stern look. Mirio had quailed beneath his mentor's stare and that was the end of the conversation; the three of you all packed up and escorted to a safe house within three hours of the prior discussion.
Oh certainly, the safe house wasn't bad. A little more lavish than you were used to, what with the in-home gym setup and the food delivery schedule. What was going to do you in was the boredom; despite your employer's reluctant allowance permitting you to work from home, you were quick to run out of daily tasks.
At least you weren't the only one suffering from cabin fever. Both Mirio and Tamaki's injuries had healed up seamlessly over the weeks and the two of them were becoming more and more restless with every passing day.
"I hate just sitting around like this." Mirio finally complained one bright morning. "It's almost Christmas, we should be out there shopping and keeping people safe!"
"Nothing in between?" You asked wryly, sorting through the muted shades of cardstock that you had discovered in a closet. "Which two colors do you want?"
"Oo, red and blue!" Mirio exclaimed, deflating slightly when the only option was a faint cranberry and a blue so light it was nearly white. Tamaki, still slowly working through his morning coffee, silently accepted the faded gold and lavender sheets that Mirio scooted over to him.
Brandishing a pair of scissors, you announced, "we are making decorations today. We only have two pairs of scissors, though. And one roll of tape. So behave yourselves."
Tamaki perked up almost immediately, snagging the second pair of scissors before Mirio could make a move for them. "Paper chain." He mumbled.
"Good call. I'll fold us some stars!" Mirio then grinned at you across the table, holding out his hand. "Can I borrow those scissors, Sunshine?"
"Mirio wants to keep people safe," Tamaki said softly later that afternoon, his fingers absently stroking through the sleeping Mirio's hair. You could hardly complain though, as his other hand was busy giving your own scalp a massage.
"I've noticed." You murmured in reply. Poor Mirio would often crash late in the afternoon, his body too used to a schedule that started before sunrise, which allowed you and Tamaki to become accustomed to the quieter evenings. A holiday film played on your work laptop, providing some gentle background noise to punctuate Tamaki's extended pauses. You had come to mind them less and less, knowing that he was always thinking.
"Even in middle school…always. Was a shock to everyone when he didn't graduate, but I guess that's got something to do with what…happened. Back then." Tamaki had a far-away look in his eyes when you gave him a curious glance.
"'Back then'?"
"Something happened towards the end of senior year. Not sure what. He stopped coming to school one day and that was it." Tamaki sighed heavily. "He won't talk about it."
You chewed on your lip, thinking back. You had always been so hellbent on keeping people at arm's length during your time in the Hassaikai, you had never taken an opportunity to really get to know Mirio. And now, it almost felt like it was…too late, in a weird way.
Just then Mirio groaned, the sleeping man stretching and shifting his weight. Tamaki grimaced, trying to adjust. "He's like a pitbull," he complained in an undertone. "His head is so heavy."
You weren't buying it though, teasing, "a burden you're more than happy to bear, I'm sure." Tamaki flushed, glaring at the wall instead of looking at you.
After what had occurred with the League Of Villains, you had easily picked up on more and more instances of Mirio and Tamaki dancing around one another. A look here, a soft smile there…it would have been cute if it wasn't so damn sad. And sure, you were a teeny tiny bit jealous of Tamaki, but not nearly enough to attempt to insert yourself or disrupt their…non-relationship? Situationship. The teasing you did do was lighthearted enough to be easily dismissed; you didn't want them thinking you were some stiff who didn't approve!
Tamaki's hand was abruptly resting on your own, the young man giving it a gentle squeeze. When you glanced up again, he was actually looking at you, in a way that seemed…thoughtful? Like he was mulling over a problem mentally, trying to suss out a solution.
"What's up?" You whispered.
Tamaki just shook his head, returning his attention to that incredibly interesting section of wall.
It was greedy.
What he wanted could only be labeled as such in the chiefest sense. Two partners, two individuals, when anyone should be more than content with one! There was no logical way that--he couldn't even ask Tamaki when he had been younger and now you too?! What was wrong with him? Everything in his body was confused, jumbled, screaming about what he didn't deserve and shouldn't have but could have and wanted wanted wanted, wanted so much that it ached.
Togata Mirio was a man of great internal conflict, constantly warring with himself over (what he would label) ridiculous thoughts. The audacity of even being able to rationalize two potential partners had him in absolute torment. Wasn't that cheating? Wasn't it doomed from the start? If he was attracted to two people he must actually not want either, right? But…
But what if he could love both of you?
What if, what if, he could somehow manage to ask both of you to stay with him. Let me protect you, let me help you.
It was in his nature to want to protect. He had shoved the desire down during his time with the Hassaikai, knowing it would do him no good in those less than stellar ranks. Nighteye had seen fit to foster the protective traits in him though, encouraging Mirio to always consider the fallout from his actions.
What if someone is injured from your carelessness, Mirio? One wrong move, and innocent people die.
Protective actions had consequences, just the same as those morally-gray endeavors he had carried out while with Chisaki. The fallout from this particular foray, while maybe not physically devastating, would absolutely destroy him mentally.
But the thinking was driving him insane! What if, taunting him as he watched you laugh at whatever Tamaki was showing you on his phone, as Tamaki then turned to show him the same funny clip. Instead of looking at the screen though, Mirio was captivated by the small grin on Tamaki's face.
Always with this, always zoning out while Tamaki was trying to talk to him or while you were working on your daily assignments and frowning cutely at your computer. It was extremely exasperating and Mirio found himself holing up in the gym more and more. Once Tamaki got his late morning routines out of the way the space was free and clear, so it was here that the blond man ended up spending the majority of his waking hours.
This, however, led to him being absolutely exhausted by the time four thirty rolled around, which was how he had ended up in this predicament: Tamaki's fingers carding carefully through his ungelled hair, your hands wrapped around his scarred forearm while you and Tamaki carried on a whispered conversation over his head.
It was terrifyingly gentle, comforting even. But all Mirio could think of was that it would all come crashing down soon enough.
"Okay so I need your help." All in a rush, because you needed to get the words out before you lost your nerve.
Tamaki blinked at you over his mug.
"You don't have to say anything, just listen." You bargained, which garnered you a ponderous nod. "And you can totally ignore this, so don't feel bad."
"Concerning." Tamaki pointed out.
"I know, man, believe me." You sucked in another breath, your nerve about ready to abandon you. "I like you and Mirio. I like being around you and Mirio. I'm happy with this arrangement. B-But I…I feel like I might be getting in the way of your uh. Whatever it is that you guys have."
"We don't-"
"Tamaki please, I'm dumb, not blind. You guys…look, the both of you have great chemistry and it would be a shame for you to not at least try, right?"
A heavy silence settled into the space between the two of you. When Tamaki finally spoke up, his voice was somehow less confident than usual.
"I-I don't know if Mirio…I don't know if he likes guys." He admitted softly, his eyes on the table.
"He may not like guys, but he sure as hell likes you."
"No." Tamaki shook his head, a wistful little smile softening his pensive face. "He likes you. I've seen him look at you, the way he laughs, the way he-"
You interrupted, "The way he lights up when you're around? The way he falls asleep on your lap, the way he makes your coffee and the way he…" Tamaki was blatantly staring at you, and as you stared back at him, things slid together in your mind. "Oh. Shit."
"Oh, shit." Tamaki breathed.
The two of you had been avoiding him for three days now. It was Christmas Eve and Mirio was sitting on the weight bench in the gym, fidgeting anxiously. Nothing that he could do seemed to be able to help him shake the feeling of foreboding that hung over him like a dark cloud. All the energy he had spent just left him with lactic acid buildup and more questions than answers.
Treadmill, he decided, getting to his feet.
The treadmill was nice and repetitive. If that didn't shut off his brain, nothing would. Just the treadmill, the miles slowly ticking away, not thinking about you or Tamaki or you and Tamaki or–
With a frustrated growl Mirio flipped the switch and stepped back off the machine. Nothing is working, he realized, the frisson of fear that ran down his spine thoroughly unwelcome. Nothing.
Maybe he could just casually broach the subject? Granted, the idea made his stomach clench with anxiety but if that was his only alternative to this silent torment, he might take his chances.
What if you and Tamaki had decided you wanted to become…more? He had seen the way Tamaki looked at you, the way his piercing eyes softened when he thought no one was watching. Mirio wasn't jealous, not exactly anyhow. If he had to actually label it, he would say what he was feeling was sadness. Regret, even. But if you and Tamaki were happy with each other, that's what was important.
Right?
Mirio shook his head at himself, heading to his room to shower.
"Okay so, where do you want your bow?" You asked Tamaki, gesturing high and then low. "Do you want to be sweet and put it on your head, or do you want him to know you'd like to be railed so you put it on your-"
"Why would you say that?!" Tamaki sputtered, hiding his red face in his hands. You certainly were confident! He on the other hand was a massive ball of nerves. He wasn't sure if this plan of yours would work and the waiting was driving him insane.
"Listen you can be shy but you still get to voice your needs and wants here." You reasoned pragmatically, sticking a large bow to the top of his head. "We don't know how he'll react, of course, and this may not be the best course of action, but we might as well rip this bandaid off."
"W-We've been thinking for days now and this is all we could come up with. If we think longer, it'll just never happen." And what an awful thought that was, never knowing for sure. That would almost certainly feel far worse than the momentary embarrassment Tamaki was enduring while you fussed over him.
"I also want you to know," you murmured as you straightened his collar, "that even if it is just you that he wants, I'll still like you."
"Really?"
"Of course! You're kind and sweet, and you take good care of Mirio. He couldn't ask for a better partner, trust me."
His face was going to catch fire. All Tamaki could do was mumble a thank you and try to maintain some semblance of composure. "When should we…?"
"He's in the shower now, so we'll surprise him once he gets out." You smiled up at Tamaki as he carefully placed your bow on the top of your head. "Everything is going to be okay."
Mirio stared at himself in the steam-fogged mirror, his visage warped and unfamiliar. It's fine, he told himself sternly. Totally fine.
Maybe you and Tamaki were…
Mirio crushed that thought before it could fully form, shoving away the mental image of Tamaki arching over you, you gifting him with a soft moan, fingernails raking down his back--stop, idiot, stop it. You're just going to hurt your own feelings.
He needed to shake this off. It was probably just a combination of cabin fever and trauma bonding. That's it.
Mirio wrenched open the bathroom door, his mood thoroughly ruined by his runaway imagination. However, everything came to a grinding halt once he entered his bedroom.
Why were you and Tamaki on his bed? Why were you and Tamaki on his bed?! Mirio blinked at the sight in front of him, baffled and wary.
After a few seconds of awkward staring, you gave Tamaki a gentle nudge with your elbow. "Go ahead, Tama."
Tamaki jumped a little, stammering nonsense before he seemed to get a hold of himself. "I-I-I…h-hi Mirio. Um, happy h-holidays." He managed to squeak out, staring at the floor. His fingers worried the hem of his loose sweater, over and under the fabric again and again.
"Happy…holidays." Mirio replied slowly, shooting you a quizzical glance. You, it seemed, were focused on a fascinating bit of carpet. "What's going on, guys? You're both acting kind of strange." He asked bluntly, noting the way Tamaki winced at the question.
"Do you like me?" The black-haired man suddenly blurted out, slapping a hand over his mouth immediately after. Mirio was stunned silent, just staring at his violently-flushing roommate. "W-Well?" Tamaki mumbled around his hand.
"I…well yeah, of course!" Mirio did his best to try for his usual cheery affect, but judging from your reaction clearly neither you nor Tamaki were having any of it. "Of course, Tama." Mirio repeated, a bit softer this time.
"Do you like me?" You asked it this time, and Togata couldn't miss the way your fingers entwined with Tamaki's.
"Sunshine, we went through hell together." Not that you needed reminding! "Yes, I like you."
"He likes both of us, Tamaki." You sounded…relieved? Happy? Excited? Tamaki for his part looked more elated than Mirio had ever seen, almost tripping over himself as he got up.
"S-So you-!" The black-haired man began, grabbing Mirio's hands.
"I…?" Mirio prompted while Tamaki just stood there, shuffling back and forth in place. "I what?"
"Like me. L-Like…us." Tamaki explained haltingly. "We like you too."
"Guys, I don't know if I get whatever is going on here." Mirio murmured, his heart starting to pound in his chest. There's no way.
"We're your presents!" You chirped from his side, and that was when he noticed the bows clinging to your and Tamaki's heads. "If you want us, that is."
If you want us.
Holy shit it's happening.
"I…I do." Mirio whispered. "I…really? Both of you…and me?"
Tamaki was the one who said it this time, "if you'll have us," his hands trembling in Mirio's grip.
Mirio wrapped his friend, roommate, something more in a hug, feeling the heavy sigh Tamaki released against his chest. After a moment, Tamaki ushered you into the embrace. The three of you just held each other silently, then Mirio bumped his forehead into your own.
"If you'll both have me, I think I'd like that." He paused, feeling the mischievous smirk blooming on his face. "I know it's not Christmas yet, but do you guys mind if I…" He plucked the bow off of Tamaki's head. "...unwrap my presents a little early?"

(It’s 1 a.m. currently. This is not a request but I just miss Kai so I’m gonna make him miss the reader too.)
~Kai’s S/O and the Long Trip~
Tumblr media
headcanon|scenario|imagine|match-up
-Although he seemed stoic 90% of the time (and he was), he still expressed emotions in his own special way. One of those emotions was longing. Yes when you’re around he pretends like he’s annoyed, and he may very well be! However, his tune changes when the two of you are apart for an extended period of time. Pops likes to joke around and call it the love bug. “My how that boy is sick without you haha!” The old man teased you one day over tea time. Kai couldn’t help it. When you were away it felt like his other half was missing from him. It was too empty, too quiet, and it reminded him of a not so grand time before you came into his life.
-You can imagine what he acted like when it finally came time for the annual friend expedition! This was the once a year trip you and your group of friends go on. It’s a way to reconnect after having been separated for such a long time in different places. It usually only lasted a week or less but to Kai it was like having you away for an entire year! Even though he was silent mostly on the topic, you could tell he was gearing up for it by following you around like a puppy and watching you pack your bag. You giggled to yourself before turning around abruptly and staring at him. Although his mask was adjusted tightly on his face as always, you could easily read his emotion seeping from his eyes. You sighed and held your arms out to him. Without a single moment of hesitation he crossed the room and hugged you tightly. “Angel, why must you go on these foolish trips with those people anyway? I can take you where you want to go just as easily.” He grumbled into your neck and you laughed, pulling out of the hugs. “Those people are my friends Kai, and anyway it’ll be fine ha! I’m only gonna be gone for a few days. I know you can handle it.”
-When the day came for your departure, he didn’t leave until he watched you walk out of sight. He grimaced and looked down at his phone so he could view you on the tracking application he installed (that you both agreed on. Basically life360). Even with the app telling him your location he still couldn’t help but to worry about you 24/7. The very next day he wondered if you were eating, if you’d slept well, if your flight went okay, if maybe you were having fun, was anyone trying to approach you and court you over there, what about the security where you were at? His mind ran a million miles an hour and the others noticed easily. “I guess Y/N is doing that trip thing with her/his/their friends again huh.” Setsuno mumbled while tidying a spilled lunch in one of the break rooms. “Yeah, boss is going a little crazy again. You know the drill. Stay out of the way and make sure not to mess up.” Hojo replied before taking a sip of his coffee.
-Hojo was right. Not only did he worry and miss you but his emotions were impacted as well. Every single little slip-up would be blown out of proportion when you weren’t around him. As Chrono would call it, you were the medicine to calm the beast in him down. Without you being around as a buffer, most situations cost the men in the Hassaikai their life...Although Pops stepped in to make Chisaki bring them back to life of course. At any rate he was going to lose his mind without you there. The man even had trouble sleeping without you by his side. He tossed and turned unable to get comfortable at all. Its funny as a passing thought when he remembers the days cherishing the empty space in his bed. He remembers always saying to himself that he’d rather die than to have another person hogging his blankets and spreading their filth/germs in the bed with him. Now look how the mighty have fallen.
-He also blows up your phone with text messages a lot when you’re away like this. It actually makes you laugh a bit at seeing how much he misses you but he won’t admit it. He does things out of his usual characteristics around the house just as an excuse to talk to you. On the 4th day of your trip you can remember him sending you an obscure meme just to get a reaction out of you so he could text or call. It’s not like you were ignoring him no! It’s just that you didn’t have time to reach out to him first since he was beating you to the punch with everything!
-When you returned to him you frowned at taking in his appearance. The bags under his eyes were a sure fire way to tell he hadn’t even been sleeping without you. Even though he won’t admit he missed you, he still has his ways of expressing himself. “Angel, I’m glad you returned.” He holds you closely and inhales you before slipping his mask down to shower you in kisses. “I’m glad to be home.” You replied.

Overhaul x F! Reader {Quirk!}
☆Reader is 21+ and quirkless!! (Here in the USA, there is an alcoholic drink called “Quirk”! You have to be 21 to drink in The States and 20 in Japan *i think*)
Tumblr media
⚠️TW: mentions of alcohol, slight mention of kidnapping, yandere/possessive Kai (kinda), suggestive theme toward the end
Saturday night! No meetings for the Hassaikai, no extra work to be done, you’re as happy as could be. But something was missing. Before you went with the Hassaikai, or.. were kidnapped by Kai and came around to him, drinking was your favorite activity on a Saturday night. Since you had been with Kai, he preached about how alcohol wasn’t good for you, how you needed to maintain your angelic appearance and stay away from alcohol.
Your favorite drink, was quirk. You wanted one so bad. You say up from the couch and slowly made your way to find Sakaki, who always has alcohol hidden around somewhere. You prayed he would have Quirk, but he didn’t. You decided to sneak out, ID and wallet in hand. You rushed to the store and grabbed a couple cans and made your way back to the base.
Within 20 minutes, you’re sitting at the table with Sakaki, laughing so hard as you two are red in the face and drunk. Kai has walked in with his eyebrows furrowed and looks at you. “Y/n. What are you doing? You know you’re mine, don’t you-“ “Kaiiii~ I have a Qurk!” Kai’s heart almost exploded from distress. His Angel, finally getting a quirk, after her whole life of not having one. He grabbed your arm. “What is it?! Tell me!? I’ll erase it from you! My Angel, you can’t have a quirk!!” As he was dragging you from the table, you grabbed the back of his shirt. Pale in the face but your cheeks still hot and red from the alcohol. “K-Kai.. no.. it’s alcohol…” Kai grunted at your statement. “Having a quirk is not alcohol! You understand that, don’t you?” He got close to your face. You then held up the can. “No, Kai… the drink… I’m quirkless..” you spoke softly, but Sakaki laughed. “Your quirk is quirkless!!” Kai glared at him, then pulled you away.
He drug you all the way to your shared room and tossed you on the bed. “If you think you’re so funny to disobey me, then so be it. Hands above your head, Angel.” He took his white tie off in a flash. “I’ll teach you to obey my rules. I’ll stain that perfectly innocent mind of yours.”
