Summary: You’re a production assistant on the set of Cursed. The night before your first day at work, you opened your laptop to shockingly realise you’d be working with Daniel Sharman (and a plethora of other amazing actors), someone you’d been watching on screen since you were a teenager. You kept your expectations low, the PAs rarely got to interact with the talent…what was your chance?

You opened your laptop nervously, your leg bouncing against your couch. It was your last night as a jobless woman and that both excited and scared you. You opened your email, scanning your mail quickly before your eyes landed on “Call Sheet”. You clicked on the email and saw that there were two documents attached. The second was labelled “Cast List”. Your eyes widened when you realised you would be finding out who you were working with tonight. Not tomorrow. Not at work. Tonight.

You forgot about the call sheet and quickly clicked on the one about the cast. As your eyes scanned the list, you gasped audibly as a name caught your attention.

“Daniel Sharman”

Daniel Sharman? The Daniel Sharman? The one you had been practically in love with when you were 17? (Not anymore of course).

Your heart beat faster as you scanned the rest of the list….”Katherine Langford”…….”Gustaf Skarsgard”..those were the only other two names you recognised so far. Now you couldn’t wait to get to work. You were even more eager but also increasingly anxious to wake up tomorrow. Would you even get to see the actors? If you did, would you be able to meet them? You had so many questions but no one to answer them. Trying to push all of the increasingly complicated thoughts out of your mind, you closed your laptop and got up off the couch to head into your room. You lived alone in your flat, full of piles of DVDs in a corner, two worn out but comfy couches, and your greatest purchase to this day….a large flat screen TV. You wouldn’t call your flat small, it was just…cozy. You looked around at the space admiringly before entering your bedroom and closing the door behind you

Monday, January 7th 2019

4:15 am

You woke up with a jolt, breathing heavily. You looked around for your phone grabbing it and swiping across the screen to turn your alarm off. You closed your eyes and laid down, breathing deeply.

The day was finally here. Your first day on set. You had to admit that by now most of the excitedness had been replaced with anxious thoughts. You attempted to ignore them as you opened your phone again to check your messages etc. Nope, nothing interesting.

At 4:25 you finally decided to muster up all the strength you had to pull yourself out of bed. You had to be at work by 5:30 meaning you should leave around 5:10.

You sat at the edge of your bed, rubbing your eyes. You hoped you wouldn’t fall asleep on set….you wouldn’t be surprised if you did.

You got up and walked into your bathroom. You looked into the mirror and immediately looked away. Waking up at 4:00 had only made your eye bags more prominent. Your hair was disheveled and eyes crusty. You tried not to look at yourself again until after you were dressed. You freshened up, washed your face, brushed your teeth etc before going back in your room to wear your clothes.

You had had an outfit ready since last week. They had told you to wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. The most comfortable thing you had were sweatpants but you knew they didn’t mean those so instead you settled for a pair of your most comfortable jeans and a plain black t-shirt.

You changed and then went to your dresser. After some concealer, mascara, and tinted lip balm..you looked a bit more presentable. You could’ve gone completely barefaced but it was your first day and you wanted to look good.

The nerves could’ve killed you at this point. It was exactly 5:05 when you grabbed the call sheet you had printed this morning, your phone, your keys, and headed out of your apartment. You rode down the elevator and arrived at your car, a second hand red Fiat.

You fumbled with your keys before pressing a button and unlocking your car. You sat in the front seat and started the engine,

5:28 am

You pulled into the parking lot of the studio and parked your car in the “crew” area. You hoped this wasn’t the director’s spot or anyone else’s for that matter. As a production assistant, you were right at the bottom of the film crew ladder and answerable to any and everyone on set. Although that thought scared you, you were completely new so hopefully they would cut you some slack.

A week ago when you had gotten a call from the second assistant director (AD), he had told you to come into the building and find him. From there he would tell you what to do.

You walked around to the back of the building where there were six or seven people walking around with headsets, setting up chairs and tables. There were also several trailers set up in the parking lot, no doubt some for the actors. You nervously went up to one of them,

“Hi, where could I find the second assistant director?” you asked

“You’re new?” he replied ignoring your question.

“Yeah” you said smiling slightly

“PA I’m guessing?” he said and you nodded

“He’s in the studio, ask any of the crew inside, they’ll know” he said and smiled, opening a chair.

“Thanks” you said and quickly walked inside through the back door.

Inside it was exactly like what you had imagined. People bustling around, many sporting walkie talkies and headsets. Some held papers, some were talking to each other. You stood in a hallway lined with grey walls. As you walked through the halls you came upon what you guessed was the main studio. It was huge, you could barely see the roof through all of the lighting fixtures. There were multiple props on set but you could tell that the set hadn’t been completely set up yet. This wasn’t the only studio though of course. Judging by the size of the building, there were probably multiple sets. You were in awe for a few moments before realising you had to find the AD. You went up to someone who was setting up water bottles on a long white table.

“Hey, would you happen to know where the second AD is?” you asked

She looked over her shoulder, her short blonde hair tied into a small bun at the back of her head,

“Yeah he’s right over there”, she pointed towards a man who was holding a clipboard and also wore a headset. He had black hair and glasses and looked to be about in his 40s.

You smiled gratefully at her before turning around and walking towards the man. He was looking at his clipboard intently, chewing on his black pen. Your heart beat faster, you hoped he was the right guy. You walked up to him, keeping your distance..not wanting to disturb his thought process.

“Hi I’m Y/N’ you said quickly, waiting for his response. It didn’t come. After a few seconds he looked up at you and put his pen in his pocket.

“PA right?” he asked unconcerned.

“Yes” you said letting out a breath, at least he remembered you.

“I’m Huey Kerrigan”, he suddenly started past you, towards the hallway. You followed him not knowing what else to do. He pointed at the large white table the girl was setting bottles of water on,

“This is the snacks table, you’ll have to set it up in the morning and also restock it throughout the day”

“Got it” you said quickly, not wanting to seem like you were ignoring him

He walked in front of you passing through the hallway and swerving around the many other members of the crew. He walked through the back door you had just passed through a few minutes ago into the cool fresh air. You took a deep breath and followed him to what looked like a charging station beside the tall concrete walls of the studio.

“These are the batteries, aka hot and cold bricks” he pointed to two crates and a table on which there were multiple charging batteries. The “station” was covered by a large white canopy.

“Hot bricks are charged batteries and you must have one on you the entire time in case a crew member needs it. They’ll give you their dead battery aka a cold brick and you bring it here to charge” you were silent for a few seconds trying to process what he had just told you.

“Got it?” he asked

“Yeah…got it” you stuttered smiling nervously

He continued walking and took you right to where all the trailers were parked.

“This is the basecamp,” he said, waving his hand towards all the trailers.

“All the actors’ trailers, the hair and makeup trailers, they’re all here”

You felt a jolt of excitement before remembering to reply, “Okay, cool”

He nodded and continued walking throughout the several trailers, there had to be at least forty. You also scanned your eyes over the area, hoping to maybe get a glimpse of the actors or their trailers.

As if he read your mind he said, “The talent isn’t here yet. They arrive around 6:20 am, get their hair and makeup done and start shooting around 8:30 am….of course this all depends on the day”

You nodded, making sure he saw you.

For the next 20 minutes he showed you around the basecamp and exactly where the makeup and hair trailers were. He also told you about how you never talked to the talent unless you had something to tell them, they had to be somewhere, or if they talked to you. You couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed, you weren’t surprised but had still hoped you’d get a small chance to maybe have a chat with the actors.

When you went back inside you saw that the studio had completely transformed. There was one set which looked to be a room with three or four beds and wooden features. Another set opposite that was of what looked to be a marble room with shelves and a white bed. It all looked so realistic that if you were in the set area you wouldn’t have even realized you were in a studio.

“We’re shooting a scene today from episode three, these sets” he waved towards the area, “are from scenes taking place in an abbey”

He stuck a hand down his pocket, wiggling his fingers about before removing it holding a crumpled paper.

“This is the main cast in these scenes,” he said, handing it to me. I nodded quickly grabbing and unfolding the sheet.

Your heart leapt inside of you when you realised you’d get to see all these actors today.

“You’re green so you won’t be needing the list today” he continued and you looked up from the paper, “but in a few days, you will”

You guessed green meant someone who was new.

He walked further into the studio, to the large snacks table and handed you four bottles of water. “You first task” he said smiling, “take these to the grips over there”. He pointed to four men on ladders adjusting the lighting above the wooden room set.

“Okay sure” you said grinning, happy you could start working.

“And then go over to the team of PAs and ask what else you can help with”

Before you could reply, he abruptly walked away and out of your sight. You took a deep breath and walked over to the set where the “grips” were. The set was amazing, the sheer detail of the beds and the door and the walls and the small trunks at the end of each bed were unbelievable. You took a few seconds to admire it before trotting over to the three men and one girl. You looked at your watch, it was 6:11 am.

“Yeah, just screw it a bit tighter” one guy said squinting at the light fixture from the ground.

A man on the ladder moved his hand, adjusting the light bulb.

“Hey, I got you guys some water” you said, hopeful they heard you

The girl grabbed the four bottles from you without a word handing one to the man beside her and putting the other two on the ground next to the ladder which the two men were currently on. She wore glasses and had long brown hair held back by a hairband.

“Thanks” she said glancing quickly at you and then getting back to work.

You smiled slightly, remembering that you really were on the very last rung of the ladder of crew members.

You walked away from the set and towards the snacks table, thinking of what to do next. You decided that you should go get a hot brick since that was something Huey said you should have on you at all times. After that you could come back inside and find the rest of the PAs.

You headed outside, having to be careful and not bump into anyone in the hallway. The fresh air was welcome after the several people brushing past you inside. You walked over to the canopy covered area to get a “hot brick”. You knelt down placing one knee on the ground to steady yourself. Before looking through the crate, you decided to tie your hair up since you saw that almost everyone on set had their hair somehow kept away from their face. As you were pulling your hair back, you saw a black car pull into the parking lot, a few spaces away from the crew parking. Your heart beat a bit faster as you tied your hair tie around your hair. Could it be…?

Although you knew getting starstruck was the worst thing that could happen to you as a PA, you couldn’t help but stay there as you tightened your hair, not wanting to remove your eyes from the car. It pulled into a parking space and you saw a man step out. As he locked the car and started walking towards the basecamp you realised it was exactly who you thought it was.

Daniel fucking Sharman.

Now your heart was beating fast, threatening to leap out of your chest. He was wearing a grey shirt, jeans and sunglasses and was walking towards one of the trailers, probably his. He was far from you but still, his eye caught yours as he turned his head towards the battery station. Your cheeks heated up and you looked away quickly, mentally slapping yourself. You had practically been ogling your eyes at him..and he had seen you. You knew he knew that you were looking at him. After a few seconds, you pulled yourself together, looked back in his direction and saw that he was entering his trailer his head facing forward again…the the door closed behind him and you let out a deep breath.

You scolded yourself..you couldn’t get this starstruck whenever you saw him or any of the other actors..they were human after all not some sort of gods. You turned towards the crates and grabbed a charged battery, putting it into your jeans’ back pocket. Although you tried to convince yourself that he didn’t have any effect on you, you couldn’t help but be delighted about your luck that you would be working with him out of all the other actors in the world.

it can be the shortest sentence; or a whole essay written just for you. the way he eases through them like he has done it millions of times. to take you away to a whole new world of euphoria.

he has a way with moves.

let it be from the slightest tease he could give you, or the flying kisses he sends you from the other side of your table in the agency. spinning you around during your slow dancing sessions; which was quite rare, if you would have to admit.

every single move, every single touch felt like magic working its finest.

dazai knew you from top to toe, heart to soul.

his long, calloused fingers would never fail to be your highest drive up against the wall, for only he knew when and where to give you what you needed most. not too hot, not too cold. a new, soothing kind of lukewarm those gosh darn fingers gave off when he held you. the way he intertwined his fingers with yours.

oh; the thought of having someone else like him did not pass your mind for one bit.

you paced around your halls, lightly tapping your foot when you stopped for a little break. continuously checking the wall clock to see if you really needed to replace the batteries on them. went to your phone, checked the time.

damn, he was late again.

i made him his favorite dinner too, you pouted at the thought.

before you retorted to dive yourself in thinking once more, you watched as the door burst open, with two arms reaching out, wanting to fall into your embrace as soon as possible.

“belladonna~~~!!! oh my sweet, sweet darling, have you been waiting long?” his eyes were filled with anxiousness and regret, for breaking a promise he had kept earlier.

“hmm, i’ll let it pass. 10 minutes didn’t exactly hurt,” you stuck your tongue out at him, giggling as his hands reached your sides, beginning to attack you with a tickle war.

“stOP! DAZAI NO!!” you screamed, now falling into a whole laughing fit with him, as you reached out to get him back. his sensitive areas were a little too difficult to find, but of course - just like he knew you well - you definitely knew him more than expected.

he shrieked, taking a few steps back. “okay, okay!! y/n i’m s-sorry!” tears fell down his eyes, and he finally held up his hands in defeat. “white flag, i promise. but! for tickling the living soul off of me, would my belladonna be so kind to have this dance with me?”

he walked towards the vinyl record player you had both owned in your cozy apartment - it was a house-warming gift by one of your agency friends - grabbing a vinyl record, later gently placing it on the player. holding out his hand, the song started to play.

“how can i ever say no, osamu?” you smiled, accepting his hand with yours. with the other on your hip, and your other hand on his shoulder, he moved in closer to you, foreheads against each other.

it was a slow dance filled with adventure; where you both crossed paths of darkness and light, sadness and joy, diamonds and gold. the chandelier seemed to be glowing a pretty warm, satisfying color, now illuminating against your skins. the sweet, sweet melody of the song you were both dancing to was slowly fading, as you were both lost in each other’s eyes, exploring the stars and galaxies orbiting around your worlds.

“my love, trust me when i say this.”

“and what is that osamu?”

“i would slow dance forever if i could with you.”

“oh...? trying to be smooth again, are we?”

he chuckled. “ah but it is the truth! let me be more specific. you make me feel alive again.”

The Ghost Adventures crew we’re on their to Florida to a Manor because they we’re called due how Haunted and how many experiences guests and cast members have been having but there’s a lot history about the Manor it was death on death on death and even more death in the Manor.When they arrived they got out the car Jay and Airen started recording they we’re approach a female cast member her first experience was with the Master Gracey portrait: “So when I first started working here my first experience was with the Master Gracey portait.” The Female cast member started to explain,”It started to show it was growing old then into the skeleton stage.” She told Zach,”Was there any experiences that any of the cast members had while working here?” Zach asked the cast member.She pause for a min then remember what happened,”Another cast member has experiences area of the boom buggies he kept seeing a transparent of a spirit that was tall....” She started explaining what the ghost looked like she even took a photo of it with her phone pulling out her phone she showed Zach he was in shock.”Holy shit!” Zach looking at the photo on her phone,”He even has noose around his neck and has a axe.” Airen commented.”He looks a tree too.” Jay chuckle still recording along with Airen.

“I’ll show you the inside guys.” She led them inside going inside Zach was so excited being this will be a awesome lockdown for tonight,”The stretching room is the most active.” The female cast member said then Jay felt a tap on his shoulder,”Someone touch me.” Jay said turning his head around and no knew being there,”Can I see the voice recorder Plz?” Airen handed Zach the voice record which is a tool for spirts to speak he turned it on: “Who’s here right now?” Zach asked Beau spook into the record,”I’m here.” He chuckle afterward then vanished somewhere in the manor,”DID YOU HEAR THAT?!” Jay got excited,”That’s a voice!” Airen had a shiver down his spine,”What’s your name?” Zach asked then he got the last response before the recorder drained by Beau they we’re toy with,”Dorian Gracey.” Dorian came threw the recorder then the voice recorder died,”The batteries died I’ll put new ones when lock down starts.” Zach said.After the tour Zach went to investigate the stretching room,Airen went to investigate the ballroom,and Billy went to investigate the Graveyard.”It’s time for our lock down in this Haunted Manor let’s go!” Zach exclaimed they we’re locked inside Jay was outside keeping an eye on things on each room if anything came up.

Zach headed to the stretching but before Zach could pull out the spirit box it spoke up with a clear voice from The Ghost Host,”I believe your cadavorous palour potrays an aura of foreboding.” The spirit box spoke up this scared Zach out of his goddamn mind,”Holy shit!” As if the walls we’re alive they began to stretch on their own showing the full portaits the corrupted mortal states then it spoke again threw the spirit box,”Of course...there’s always my way.” When suddenly from above it showed a corpse hanging from above this scared Zach so bad he ran to find Billy.Airen in the ballroom heard a Organ playing from behind him,”We mean no harm so don’t be frighten of us.” Airen began holding his voice recorder which a voice came threw,”Do you mind,foolish mortal?The ballroom dancers are trying to dance.” The voice came from Taddy that Sigh in being annoied by Airen he didn’t really want to be distract by the questions he was being asked but Airen could feel the area getting it was freezing feeling the temperature drop but there was no windows opened all the windows we’re closed.”WHOA!” Airen’s mouth was in an ‘o’ shape which he was shock.

“Hi,Airen!” A Ballroom dancer said threw the voice recorder Airen had to listen to it then he listen to it mostly it was a female but he felt like two hands push him but no one was there then he heard a voice came threw that sounded like Beau the one Zach heard: “..Actually, we have 999 Happy Haunts here, but there’s room for 1000. Any volunteers?” The Ghost Host chuckle grinning appearing behind Airen putting his hands on his shoulders when Airen turned around he got so frighten he went into hiding meanwhile Billy in the Graveyard he music playing which sounded like The Graveyard Band And it was far him having his night vision on he could see anything in front of him before he could get a word out Zach found him,”Oh fuck!” Billy said feeling his heart beat out if his chest,”What happened to you?” He asked,”The walls we’re stretching I had to get out of there.” Billy stared at him and went back to his investigation but Zach followed behind,”Is any spirits here?” He got a response from Ezra,”Yes.” “How many?” “999.” Harpist commented after Ezra got done talking.

The same voice came threw the voice recorder and it was clear as day which Beau stated,”If you insist on lagging behind...Then we won’t need volunteers!” Then a laughter came out of Beau,”HAHAHAHAHA!” The duo ran for their life being deathly afraid of The Ghost Host But they had to deal with Beau Until morning came because they we’re locked in.

As soon as Chase closed the door to his bedroom he flopped onto the bed, his smiling and laughing expression he wore seconds ago with his family immediately replaced by a somber one. He took long, deep breaths, having a staring contest with the ceiling (it of course won). After... well he couldn’t tell how long he laid like that - time seemed to slow and drag on forever but also go way too fast - he spoke so softly to himself that he barely heard himself speak. “Am I really depressed? Or is it just that I’m reminding myself that I’m supposed to be sad? I was just out there with everyone for hours and wasn’t sad at all. Am I just faking it?” A lone tear escaped from his eye and he didn’t bother to wipe it away.

He heard his phone vibrate, but didn’t bother to check it. The only person that would be calling him is his therapist’s office, attempting to confirm a meeting he already planned on skipping. He went to one to humor Jackie, and of course he had to schedule another visit, but the whole time he knew that he wasn’t going back. He would just be wasting his therapists time, and taking up space for people who really needed therapy.

His room wasn’t far from the room where all the other egos were still gathered - he told the others that he was going to his room to plan the next bro average video (which he really should be doing anyway) - and he could faintly hear some conversations. From what he could piece together, they started playing Cards Against Humanity and somehow Jameson was winning, even though he didn’t understand most of the cards. He could tell that they were having a lot of fun - a lot of fun without him.

“Would anyone even care if I-“ he spoke, again, barely audible (he wondered if he even vocalized the words, or if they halted in his head). He had to stop himself short, not daring to finish the thought. “Chase you idiot, you already tried to do it and you know what outcomes you would get. Doc would blame himself if he couldn’t save you, Marvin would lock himself away in his room and refuse to come out, Jackie would take out all his emotions on fighting villains that were unbeatable, at least in his headspace, and Jamie would...” he trailed off, biting his lip. “That’s right... he wasn’t even here when I did it...” Chase blinked and violently shook his head. “PMA Chase... PMA... PMA... PM- ya know they can shove that up their arse. I need a fucking drink is what I need not some positivity bullshit,” he grumbled, going back to further examine his closet. There had to be something...

Huffing, he picked up a pair of shoes, put his hat back on his head, and wiped any evidence of tears off his face before walking out of his room. He took a deep breath right before he got to the room where all the egos were gathered - he was right about his guesses as to their activity - and strode to the door. Jackie looked up from the game as Chase walked past to get his coat. “Hey Chase, what’s up? Where’re ya going?” He sensed something off about him (but it could’ve just been paranoia) and needed to make sure nothing happened to any of his brothers.

Chase blinked. He didn’t expect any of them to notice and now all of them were staring at him and- ‘deep breaths’ he thought to himself. “I’m just... going for a walk. I’m stuck on trying to find a new idea and... need to clear my head.”

If Jackie still had his doubts, he kept them to himself. “You have your phone on you right?”

Chase held up his phone as evidence, giving a “yup” in response. With that, he walked out the front door. “Of fucking course it’s raining,” he muttered, heading towards one of the bars in town. He knew better than to try any of the ones close to the house, as they knew him and wouldn’t contribute to his addiction. Finally, he ended up at one that he didn’t even know existed, and figured it was worth a shot. He walked up to the bar and sat on the stool, surveying his options, pupils dilating by simply looking at the bottles. He told the bartender to “keep em coming until I’m so plastered I’m falling off the chair.”

The bartender eyed him, as it was 4:30 pm on a Tuesday, but didn’t question it, besides offering a “rough day?”

Chase nodded to that, “I guess you could call it that.”

The bartender handed him his drink. “If you want to just drink your cares away, go ahead. But if you want an ear then I’ll be here.”

Chase took a long swig, then registered what the bartender was saying, growling slightly. “I don’t need fucking therapy.” He finished his drink and felt his phone buzz in his pocket.

Baby Bean: “Hello Chase, it’s Jameson. Please do let us know when you will be returning. Marvin wants to know when he should begin making dinner, as he does not want your food to get cold, although given his history, you might be better off eating while you are out! 😆 I also should tell you that, while I do not know for certain, I think that some of the others are fearing that you are out getting bent, but if you say you’re just going for a walk, then I believe you! ☺️💚 Have a swell rest of your stroll!”

Chase sighed, grabbing the phone with his other hand. ‘What do I even say to this?’

“uh idk when i’ll be back. tell marv not to worry about me and not to burn the place down. also ty jj it means a lot that u trust me like that. i just wish the others would too” he deleted the last sentence, not wanting his brothers to feel guilty over not trusting him, especially when they had every right to be doubtful - considering he was actually at a bar. It also hurt to see that Jameson trusted him, because that meant he was betraying his trust, and he drank another glass at the thought.

About 20 minutes later, he felt his phone vibrate again. Judging by how it was many texts all at once, he assumed it was Marvin before he even pulled out his phone.

Magic Man: “Hey”

Magic Man: “I’m making dinner rn”

Magic Man: “It’s mac and cheese and whatever frozen chicken we have”

Magic Man: “Jamie said u were taking a longer walk but like it’s raining out and I don’t want u to get sick”

Magic Man: “Plz respond Chase”

Magic Man: “U there?”

“yo chill marv”

“i stepped inside a store to get out of the rain”

Magic Man: “Do u want one of us to pick u up??”

Magic Man: “If u lmk wya I can teleport to u”

Magic Man: “Or I’m sure Hen or Jackie would drive to get u if u just wanted to drive back”

Magic Man: “Ik how u feel abt teleporting”

Chase bit his lip before downing another glass. He forgot exactly what he was drinking, but it was alcohol and that’s all he cared about. He didn’t want to tell them that he was at a bar, not even thinking about how anyone could see or smell that he was drunk from a block away. He got another drink and almost forgot to respond before another message came through.

Magic Man: “Chase?”

Magic Man: “Plz just tell me where u r so we can pick u up”

“what so u can make fun of me??? nope i’ll b home later. i’m gonna stay here a bit longer then WALK home”

Chase put his phone away, not wanting to see Marvin’s response and just wanting to see more alcohol in his hands.

It was probably about an hour later when the bartender finally cut him off. He said that he was told to stop him when he looked like he was going to fall out of the chair and so the bartender wasn’t going to let him have any more. Plus his boss would be pissed if he let Chase leave any more intoxicated than he already was.

Chase stormed out of the bar and back into the rain before realizing he had no idea where we was. He looked around and tried to find something familiar but came up with absolutely nothing. He started walking in one direction, but it felt wrong, so he started in the opposite direction, which also felt wrong. So, he did what anyone else in his situation would do - he cried in the rain on the sidewalk of a basically empty street. After he felt he cried all he could, he looked at his notifications.

“Shit.” Chase mumbled, scanning through the messages.

Baby Bean: “Hello Chase, Jameson again! 😊 You haven’t responded to anyone and we are all very worried about you. I’m hoping that your cellular device simply ran out of charge, but Jackie is informing me that when he tries to call you it would not ring as long as it is if your device has run out of battery.”

Baby Bean: “Chase, it’s Jameson. Where are you? I am getting increasingly worried for your safety, as is everyone else. Please respond to one of us.”

Ze Best Doctah: “Chase are you alright? You are scaring all of us. Do you need help? Or a ride? Marvin said you would not tell him where you were. I am praying you are not at a bar but right now I don’t know what to think. I trusted you would be smart and safe but now I’m not sure if you were either. Please call one of us when you see this.”

Magic Man: “Chase y do u think I would make fun of u?”

Magic Man: “R u ok?”

Magic Man: “R u mad at me?”

Magic Man: “Chase plz answer someone”

Magic Man: “If I said smth I’m sry”

Magic Man: “Just plz come home”

Magic Man: “Chase?”

Magic Man: “Ur dinner is getting cold WHERE ARE YOU”

Magic Man: “If u put on dnd I’ll b pissed”

Chase weighed his options between who seemed the least pissed at him. Marvin and Jackieboy were obviously out. He didn’t particularly want to call Anti either. That left Henrik and Jameson. He went to the contact and pressed the call button. It barely rang before it was picked up.

“CHASE!! VERE ZEE FUCK HAFFE VOU BEEN??” Henrik shouted, his accent the thickest Chase has ever heard it, barely understandable in his drunken haze

“I’m sorry Hen” he slurred

“Chase vere are vou? Are vou fucking betrunken?!”

“Hen, Hen what? I-I don’t know what... what you’re saying.”

“HES ASKING IF YOU’RE DRUNK ASSHOLE!” Jackie shouted. “You’re on speakerphone you dick!”

Chase couldn’t see it but Jameson was trying to tell Jackie to calm down.

“OH FUCK NO THIS IS AS CALM AS I’LL BE JAMIE!”

Chase sat down on the sidewalk, leaning against a building. “I’m not fucking drunk,” he slurred

“Tell that to your voice.” Marvin piped up.

“Fiiiiiiiineeeeee mayyybeee I had a drink or few. Happy?”

“How many is ein few?”

Chase snorted and started laughing like that was just the funniest thing ever. “Fuck if I know, I wasn’t counting.”

“Chase where are you?” The static behind the phone let him know it was Anti and he whimpered.

“You’ll be mad at me...”

“WE’RE ALREADY MAD AT YOU DIPSHIT!” Jackie yelled. Henrik left the phone on the table while he grabbed his shoes and a jacket, figuring that because Chase called him, he should be the one to get him.

Chase suddenly got quiet. “I don’t know.”

“What do you mean you don’t know?” Marvin furrowed his eyebrows.

“I mean I’m lost... that’s why I called... I was at a bar, then tried to walk home and got lost.”

There was silence for a little while. Marvin suddenly stepped towards an open area of floor and started mumbling a spell. “He’s on the corner of Center Street and Behmer Drive. A block down from a bar.” Henrik nodded, grabbing his phone and getting into the car.

“Chase stay on ze phone ja?”

“Okayyyy.” Chase yawned. “Hen I’m tired.”

“Vell I vill not carry vou in so vou need to stay avake”

“But I’m sleepyyyyyyy” Henrik sighed, driving as fast as he could without getting arrested until he saw a familiar figure all the while trying to keep said person awake. He pulled over and got out of the car. Chase stood up, but he stood up too quickly and vomited, luckily for him none of it got on Henrik. As soon as he was done, he was ushered into the car.

“I von’t um... vhat is that expression? Chew vou out now, vou vill certainly get enough shit vrom Jackieboy and Marvin.”

“Thank you,” Chase mumbled, the heat of the car feeling nice on his cold wet body.

“Und vour hangover und sickness vill be more zan enough punishment tomorrow.”

“I’m real sorry Hen.”

“Zat is vhat vou zaid last time. Und vou did it again. Vou must earn mein trust back Chase. Jamie’s too. Und vou vill be lucky if ze ozers trust vou again soon.” All of a sudden, Chase broke into sobs. He thought he didn’t have anymore tears left in him, but apparently he was wrong.

“Please don’t make me see them Hen... I’m just so weak and pathetic and you all are important. All I have is... is... I’m just useless. What have I ever been besides a nuisance? With all my whining about Stacy, over reacting to a couple sad days and calling it depression, my-my bad habits and self destructive tendencies... I’m surprised you all still keep me around,” Chase’s whole body shook with his sobs.

There was a lot to unpack there and Henrik had no clue where to start. He pulled into the driveway and put the car in park, turning to face Chase. “Chase... how long have vou been feeling like zis?”

He just shrugged. “I dunno... a while now, maybe a year or so?”

“Vhy didn’t vou say anyzing?”

“I was scared you would realize your mistake and kick me out.” He mumbled. It was quiet, but Henrik heard it loud and clear.

“Ve vould never dream of it Chase. Vou are far from useless-“

“Oh yeah? Name one thing that I’ve done that actually helped!”

Henrik went silent as his brain tried to think of a good example that wasn’t easily written off because he knew that anything he said would be torn to bits anyway.

“Thought so.” Chase shook his head. “I actually thought you were gonna say something too. Guess I can add moron to the list.”

“Chase stop-“

“Oh look, I’m being a bother yet again. Shocking.” He got out of the car, slamming the door, puked in the grass, then went inside, ready to be reminded yet again of how weak and pathetic he was.

The second he opened the door was the second the yelling began. He didn’t even bother protesting because they were all right. He screwed up, could’ve died, worried them all.

“Do you have ANY idea how scared we were?! I thought I was going to get a call from a hospital that you were hurt or DEAD! We all were so worried-“

“I DIDN’T ASK YOU TO CARE!” Chase snapped.

“WELL SCREW YOU TOO! I’m your brother!” Jackie fired right back.

‘Ok I think that’s enough’ Jameson tried to intervene, but of course, nobody was paying attention to him. Well, nobody except one person who did happen to notice. Anti stepped in between the two.

“That is enough.” His voice caused everyone to stop yelling, Jameson signing a small thank you towards him. “It seems like Chase has already berated himself over and over, haven’t you? I’m not inside your head, chill out, but you’re fucking screaming it with your body language. You seem to forget that you all can’t hide anything from me. And, I can assure you Chase, you aren’t faking anything, and we all would care.

“Don’t you see? Look around you Brody! Jackieboy is yelling at you because he was scared, and cares so damn much about you. Marvin had so much anxious energy that while he was pacing he started to fucking glow. Yes Marvin, I saw that. Jameson wasn’t signing anything, he just retreated into his mind again, like he always does when he’s worried. Henrik was prepping his work station just in case you came home half dead and was shaking so much he dropped half his equipment. And I-” Anti took a deep breath “I was glitching so much I disappeared for a little bit, just static filling my place. I’m still glitching a lot, and it is taking all of my energy to stay present enough to knock some sense into your drunken mind! We care about you because we all have no idea what we would do without you here!” He balled his hands into fists, and stared down Chase, watching him deflate even more than he already was. He shook his head, retreating to his room where he resumed his excessive glitching.

Jameson was the first one to recover. ‘Chase? What did Anti mean about “you aren’t faking anything, and we all would care”?’ When he was met with a blank stare, he sighed and looked to one of the others to translate. Marvin was the one to interpret for Chase.

“I... I had it in my head that... that I was just faking my depression... that I was just sad a bit. And that... that nobody would care if I... if I... tried again.” Everyone in the room but Jameson understood, and Jameson wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to know. His mind supplied an answer and he didn’t like it. Jackie was the one to walk over to Chase and engulf him in a hug. The rest soon followed, and Chase began to cry again into Jackie’s shoulder. After a while they one by one let go, and Chase looked between them all before going to his room and passing out on his bed.

Astro Coffee Shop AU

Astro drabble inspired by @alternateastro ’s coffee shop au

Um hi

So you are this struggling college freshman

It’s just your first year but you already learned that caffeine is your friend

And that’s probably the main reason you got excited when you heard a new coffee shop opened on the way to the bus stop you usually board from to college

The coffee shop is really cute and has a welcoming feel to it

Also it opens as early as 6am so it’s perfect for grabbing a cup of cappuccino while waiting for your bus that takes off at seven

A tall decent young man that is around your age is always there, a warm smile on his face as he serves you, probably his only customer at that early time since the shop isn’t that popular yet nor is in a remarkable place

Cha Eunwoo, his name tag says

Eunwoo is quite friendly for a barista whose shift starts at six in the morning and even bothers to start small conversations with you as you sip on your cappuccino by the counter

About two weeks in and you’re addicted to their coffee

You didn’t know if it was just you, or that it had some really special taste to it

There was just something about it that you couldn’t get enough of, and most importantly, couldn’t go on your day without

Waking up at five thirty, getting ready, leaving your house and passing by the ‘Dream Store’ to have a cup of coffee and a small chat with an ever so energetic Eunwoo became a part of your routine

Until you ‘accidentally’ wake up late one day

Maybe your alarm went off by itself, maybe it really rang and you turned it off and went back to sleep, maybe you didn’t even set it in the first place, what mattered the most is that it was a quarter past six and you were still in your pjs

You jump off your bed and quickly wash your face before grabbing the first combination of clothing that looked reasonable.

Smashing a bit of makeup on your face, you decided there was no time for more than a natural look for today,

a bb cushion, brown eyeliner pencil, transparent mascara and and a warm orange gradient lip was the best you could achieve

Throwing on your hood over your ‘whatever’ looking hair you grabbed your bag and sprinted your way out

You glanced at your hand watch to check if you had atleast a few spare minutes to order a coffee for take out but then you stopped at your tracks

Because it was freaking 5:40 in the freaking morning aka an hour early

The Dream store wasnt even opened yet and you felt like an idiot because your shitty clock was probably running out of battery and was showing the wrong time

Groaning you glanced again at the cafe to see that the roller shutter of the front door was half rolled up

And that meant that atleast someone was inside

Looking around you one more time you figured out there was no other safe place for a lonely nineteen year old girl to stay in while waiting

So you just decided to sneak inside and just hope it was Eunwoo getting ready to open the shop

You weren’t really that close to him but you just thought he wouldn’t be that freaked out if he saw you at such an hour

Entering the shop you quietly muttered a “hello” as you heard faint sounds coming from the staff area

“Eunwoo shi are you here” you dumbly murmured then figured out it was better to just take a seat and wait for whoever was there to appear

But you kind of accidentally doze off over the table because you woke up in such a hurry that you were feeling a bit drowsy by that time

Rocky takes off his sailor moon apron and hangs it after finishing with decorating the pastries and cleaning the kitchen

He leaves the kitchen and checks the café since he heard some sounds coming from there

“Eunwoo hyung you’re here earl–”

He sees you sleeping on one of the tables and sort of just-

–For a second but not enough for you to wake up then purses his lips, not knowing what to do

Rocky always disappears so early in the morning after he’s done with his work so he doesn’t get to interact with any customers, and even when he comes in the afternoon to test out new recipes with Bin, he doesn’t leave the kitchen.

So he gets so frustrated seeing you there bc um help what am I supposed to do with this creature it looks like a human

Luckily Eunwoo comes in just at the right time and is rather confused as of why rocky is still there

Also why is he standing still like a statue

“Good morning minhyuk, what are you still doi–”

Eunwoo looks at the same direction as rocky and takes a step back in surprise

But he soon recognizes your sleeping figure and is way more confused now but decides to wake you up anyway

You slowly open your eyes and find none other than the most beautiful angel you’ve ever seen in front of your eyes that you can’t help but yelp bc are you already dead and is this heaven

You blink for a few seconds and look around the place then at Eunwoo and the other guy

“…w-welcome to Dream sh-shop !!!!” Rocky says in a super nervous tone that his voice cracks as he tries to sound the brightest he could “is that how you do it” he whispers to Eunwoo bc he honestly had no idea how things went outside the kitchen

Then Eunwoo kindly introduces you to Rocky to break the awkward atmosphere

And hey Rocky is quite cute and hyper

And that’s how you start meeting the boys one by one

And you just have to embarrass yourself each time

Like that other time you were soooo sleepy that you were walking with your eyes closed

Maybe bc you had so much work and didn’t get enough sleep

But that didn’t really matter bc you knew the way too well that you could manage

You instinctively make a turn to the left to enter the coffee shop

But then you just bump into the glass door like an idiot

Bc it’s usually always open

Truth is Bin came earlier than usual that day

And usually whenever he comes he always closes the door

Since he claims it’s way too cold in the morning

And Eunwoo is like uhh ok nvm

And since Bin always comes later you never really saw the door closed

Being still as sleepy as heck you groan as you lazily push the door open with literally your whole body, pouting since it was too early for embarrassing yourself yet here you are

You enter the shop to see an ever so amused Bin holding his laugh

“Welcome” he says quietly and you awkwardly smile with half closed eyes

And wth wth wth why are all the ppl working here so cute

And that other time you got dismissed early in the afternoon so you decided to pass by

And you go up to the counter only to be faced by like a giant five year old

And you’re like “uhh excuse me where’s the one in charge here?”

And Sanha just blinks for a second before blurting “it’s me!”

And you’re like “but you look so young ??????”

And Sanha just smiles cutely then takes your order

And from that day you always stop by whenever you have time in the afternoon

Bc Sanha is just too adorable and his smile gives you so much energy to go on with your day

And that OTHER time the Dream Store was having that spring cleaning thing and there was actually a notice on the front door but you’re too reckless to realize that and just legit barge in to JinJin dancing with a broom to Plz don’t be sad by Highlight while singing with a really, really High pitched voice

And you never felt this attacked honestly

JinJin is caught off guard and immediately restrains himself

“My apologies. How can I help you? I’m Park Jinwoo, the Dream Store manager”

And you’re like ????? Okay ????

AND THAT OTHER TIME you were with this senior of yours in art school

He’s reaaaally kind and cheerful and you’re actually good friends

So one day he invites for coffee in what he claimed to be his store

And you’re shook af on the way bc uhh isn’t this the way to Dream Store?

i had a very weird dream

it started out getting a message from someone i hadn’t talked to in years who was coming back to syndey

the premise was something something will be happy to see you something something are we still a thing? turns out that in this dream, they thought that at some point, we were dating because i sent them nice messages a bunch? except i sometimes just do that, and had no meaning behind it

i start writing a big ass response, and just before i send it to them, someone else sends me a private message. for some weird reason, when i hit send on the message i was writing it goes to the new person instead of the girl i was trying to send it to (message mostly focused on letting her down easy and it was never my intentions yada yada)

the new person, understandably, was very very confused. their response is “plz delete or something” which i can do cause suddenly im chatting on discord so i apologise profusely after removing the mesage. they aren’t overly phased and just get back about our business after i remove the message (the business being stuff for Runnerhub, cause thats the main use of discord for me) but do give me some comforting words about relationships

flash forward, and i wake up at Museum train station. I have no memory of what happened. I run into 2 other people also getting on the train at an obscene time in the morning. We get on the train and just talk about last night.

There was a short white girl in lycra with a bike - she was on the train this morning because she had been training for some kind of bike marathon?

There was a middle aged asian lady - she was on the train this early because she’d had a fight with her husband and left home to get away from it all for a while, but was heading back now

Then there was me. I couldn’t remeber why I was there. I said “I guess I’ll find out if I tap on or if I tap off when I get off the train”.

We all chat and try to work out why i was there. I wonder aloud why my phone cant just tell me where ive been, its not like it doesnt track me. So I ask my phone using Ok Google (my phone is an iphone and does not have Ok Google). It takes 3 attempts for it to work out what im actually saying, as my speech is apparently slurred though I don’t remember drinking or anything

It tells me I took my battery out around 10pm, after calling my mom. I got the impression that I had gotten absolutely smashed for some reason or other, but had literally no recollection of leaving the house, drinking, or evidence of drinking in the morning when i woke up

PERSONALITY: I’m shy at first (like everybody, duh ), but I try not to show it, play it cool and get over it. I’m that type, which finds motivation in difficulties. Jimin Scenario: Intervention.

Request: Can I have Jimin scenario where ur relationship doesn't go public. One day Jimin saw ur co worker flirted with u when he takes u home, n he kept on asking u out n always find a chance to spend time with u not believing u have a BF. Jimin got jealous n try to find a way to get the guy away from u n let him know u really have BF w/o revealing its him coz u won't let him afraid that the relationship will have bad effect on him and BTS. Can u have it funny with the help from BTS n fluffy plz. ❤️❤️❤️

Genre: Fluff / Comedy

Jimin saw as the guy got too close to you and he frowned, he was picking you up from work that evening and he wasn’t expecting to find this scene. It showed the guy was pestering you, you were shaking your head and saying something but the guy kept getting closer and invading your personal space as he also spoke, and then suddenly you laughed too which made Jimin frown deepen.

-What…?-

His hands tightened around the steering wheel with anger, you had ran out of battery so Jimin couldn’t call you to come to him instead of being there with that guy. He had thought he was annoying you, but why had you laughed with him?

-Come on Y/N, just come- he mumbled watching you look everywhere but at the direction he was parked. Then the guy put a hand on your arm and Jimin groaned, sounding the klaxon intentionally, only then you turned.

Finally, you almost sighed relived when you saw Jimin’s car, you could finally get away from Seohyuk, your coworker that was proving to be the most annoying guy in the entire world, he was such a pain and thought that when you said you had a boyfriend it was only a tactic to avoid him, he never took it seriously when it was actually the truth and you didn’t find the way to keep him at bay anymore.

You went to the car, sighing again when you were finally out of the eyes of your coworker and finally with your boyfriend, but when you turned to greet him with a tired yet sweet smile you found him scowling.

-Chim, what’s the matter babe?-

-Who was that?-

-Who?- you asked feeling a bit lost.

-Your friend, with whom you were laughing so delighted-

-My friend? You mean Seokhyuk he…-

-Seohyuk- he snorted. -A dumbass name-

Jimin clenched his fists and kept his eyes on the road, he understood your worry but he wasn’t going to let a guy keep pestering on his girlfriend.

-Of course- Hoseok nodded already offering for whatever Jimin could need.

-Help with what?- Yoongi asked nonchalant.

-If this requires all of us it must be serious, Jiminie count with us- Namjoon nodded Jimin’s way reassuringly.

Jimin sighed, feeling a bit selfconcious to tell this to his friends, he should be able to defend his girlfriend alone, but this required reforces, he could not just show himself to the guy, he needed to be smart and sly to get that asshole away from you.

-A guy is hitting on Y/N-

-What?- everyone exclaimed.

-You made us come here to tell us that crap?- Yoongi frowned. -You could have just say it in the group chat-

-It isn’t crap, this is very important- Taehyung said sticking up for Jimin immediately.

Jin was frowning a bit lost as of why Jimin needed their help. -Explain, Yoongi is actually right, if you want advice it’s ok but…-

Jimin shook his head. -It’s not that, I can’t just show myself to the guy, don’t you get it? And that asshole is really annoying Y/N, and I can’t do anything, so I need you to help me find a way to scare him off without revealing is me-

Everyone stayed silent and thought hard on what could Jimin do.

-Maybe we should pay an actor, he could pass for Y/N’s boyfriend and that would be it- Namjoon offered logically.

-I don’t want anyone pretending to be Y/N’s boyfriend, I’m the only one in charge of that role-

-Jimin chill, it would be just an act- Namjoon rolled his eyes when Jimin huffed.

-No, let’s think about something else-

-What if we dress up as super heroes?- Taehyung said with a smile, almost trembling with excitement. -We could, we have the costumes from halloween and we could go there and we could even dye our hair, and wear capes, what do you guys think? I could be Wolverine-

All of them just stayed silent for a moment staring at their friend who was smiling nonstop, Hoseok patted his back condescendingly. -We will pretend you didn’t say that-

They went back to brainstorm, offering ridiculous ideas to help Jimin, then stayed silent for another moment until Namjoon clapped and pointed at Taehyung.

-Actually, about dressing, we could…-

Jimin had said he had plan, but honestly you weren’t so sure. You were afraid he would just show up and tell the guy off, which wasn’t bad, but for him it was terrible, not to talk on the effect the news of your relationship could cause to the rest of BTS, you loved them all so you didn’t want that because of you they would get caught in a scandal.

Either way you complied with what Jimin had requested even if you hated to do. You lured Seohyuk to the back parking lot of the store where you worked, Jimin had told you he would be there, but you saw the place isolated and Seohyuk was more annoying than ever since he thought you were finally giving in to him.

-I knew you liked me Y/N- he said with a teasing smile, disgusting. -You were just playing hard to get-

-Yeah… actually I wanted to speak with you-

-I know, we have lots to talk about- he stepped closer making you uncomfortable but you tried to play along with him without your disgust showing on your face too much, begging silently that Jimin hurried the hell up.

That’s when you heard the sound of rushed steps, they were coming your way and when you turned your head to the sound you gasped, seeing a group of men all dressed in black with their heads and faces covered with masks, beanies and hoodies. They looked like a gang, you were about to run back inside but then you noticed they were seven and that was just too much of a coincidence, and also there was the fact that you noticed those outfits were actually the same as the backup dancers of the Not Today video. When one of them cleared his throat to speak you didn’t doubt anymore, it was Jimin and his friends, dressed up like gangsters.

-Oh my god-

-Yah! Asshole!-

Seohyuk was paralyzed as he saw the seven guys approaching, surrounding you, and addressing him.

-Who are you? Go away, I’ll call the police-

-You will call no one- someone said and they pulled him away from you, two of them grabbing him by the arms to keep him in place -You will hear us-

The one you knew that was Jimin stood just in front of the guy, facing him while giving you his back. -I’m Y/N’s boyfriend asshole, and if you keep trying to fool around with her, there would be consequences, my friends and I will come back to find you, and we won’t be this nice the next time, clear?-

You covered your mouth with your hand, astonished, you were a blushing mess but your heart was racing with nerves, this was mad.

-I thought she didn’t have a boyfriend- Seohyuk said with a nervous voice and you gasped, that asshole.

-She told you many times, so stop it if you know what’s good for you- Jimin retorted.

Seohyuk nodded like the coward he was. -Ok, alright, I won’t do anything else, just let me go-

-If you step near Y/N again we will come for you, all of us- someone said that you suspected had to be Namjoon for the husky tone of voice.

-Alright sir-

-And don’t go around saying you saw us today, understand?!-

Seohyuk nodded quickly, he was a little pale after a few seconds they let him go and the guy ran away scared out of his mind.

You stared at the group long and hard.

-You got to be kidding me, Jimin- you said clenching your teeth. -What the hell, and all of you, this is crazy, go home!-

-Crazy? This is great, Y/N I feel ike a ganster- Taehyung said notably excited.

-You will end up in jail, go home- you couldn’t believe how they had pulled this off.

-Jagiya, it is done, he will not bother you anymore-

You stared at Jimin, you could barely see his eyes, you were grateful that your boyfriend could go to this extent jus to protect you, but you were also afraid for him, this was reckless. -Thank you baby, but really you have to go, all of you, before you give me a heart attack-

They dared to laugh, of course this was funny for them.

-She’s right Jimin let’s go, before someone else see us-

Jimin nodded but before you stepped close to him and placed a kiss on top of the mask. -See you at home, now go away-

Jimin smiled even if you couldn’t see it, and ran away with the other six, just like a band of criminals, fools was what they were, but you loved them and you loved your boyfriend.

Coffee shop AU- Percabeth

I based this off of an AU prompt I saw a LONG time ago. I honestly forgot I had written this it had been about two years but I decided to finish it :) I have no doubt that there are probably lots of mistakes and the format probably got a leetle messed up while I tried to figure out how to blog THis but please enjoy :) also prompt creds to whoever made the prompt along the lines of “my computer battery is low and I need to finish my assignment and ur the only seat near an outlet can I plz sit w u?” OK I’m done rambling now

Annabeth had been staring at the boy for seven minutes, and her computer was now at nine percent. It’s not that big of a deal, she thought for the fifth time. Just go up and ask if you can use the outlet. It was just her luck that the hot guy with messy black hair and one hell of a jaw line was sitting at the table blocking the last unoccupied outlet, and Annabeth’s computer was dying and her essay was due tomorrow. It shouldn’t be this hard, and it’s not like she would usually have this much trouble, but the guy was really cute and he was probably playing candy crush on his phone and what if she interrupts him before his high score is achieved? She would steal his outlet and his high score. Not that she knew for a fact that he was playing candy crush. Maybe he was writing a really important email to his teacher or texting his girlfriend. Annabeth cringed. Girlfriend. He probably did have a girlfriend. A whole bunch of girls probably swooned all over him at school. She knew guys like him, from what she was observing. He was probably an athlete. No, definitely an athlete, judging by his broad shoulders and muscular arms. She shouldn’t even bother approaching him, then, if he was anything like she assumed he was. She could imagine his pink lips curving into a frown as he ignored her and went back to tapping on his phone. Annabeth shook the possibility out of her head. She was over thinking this whole thing. Her computer was at seven percent now, and she still had two more paragraphs to proof read for the third time, even though her work was already typed and edited. She wouldn’t let her essay be less than perfect all because of cute guy blocking the outlet. Annabeth made up her mind and shot out of her chair, scooping up her laptop, computer charger, and coffee before marching over to the boy’s table. She plopped her things down across from him, and jammed her plug into the outlet, finally calm now that her essay was safe. The boy looked up with a small smile, and Annabeth was slightly taken aback. “Well hello there.” The way he said it wasn’t flirtatious at all. He seemed amused, as if he had watched her fight herself before stomping her way over. Annabeth winced when she realized that he probably had noticed her glaring at the outlet from her own table. It took Annabeth a moment to recover after she locked eyes with him. She had never seen such bright green eyes before. She replied with a nod and a smile that probably looked more like a grimace, because that was all she could manage. Annabeth stared at her computer blankly for a moment, before looking back up at him. “My computer was dying. You were the only table with a power outlet next to you,” she said, feeling stupid after her awkward explanation. The boy raised an eyebrow. “I don’t mind.” He chuckled, and held out his hand. “I’m Percy,” he told her. Annabeth tilted her head when she heard the name, deciding she liked it. “Annabeth.” She shot him one last half-smile, unsure if she should continue the conversation. If she wanted to finish her essay, she needed to get to work. Forcing herself to tear her eyes away from his mesmerizing green ones, her own eyes began scanning the screen, searching for mistakes and quickly running her fingers over the keyboard letters to fix any. “What’re you working on?” Annabeth nearly fell out of her chair when she felt Percy’s breath tickle her neck. Her head whipped around to find him crouching next to her, looking over her shoulder at her essay. He was so close to her that his head was almost resting on her shoulder, and she caught a whiff of his scent. He smelled like chlorine and spearmint gum. She swallowed. “Um, essay. For school.” She inwardly rolled her eyes at her lame answer. She expected Percy to be satisfied with her answer and sit down again. What did her essay matter to him? Instead he leaned in closer, and Annabeth held her breath. No stranger this hot had ever been this close to her before. “What’s it about?” Percy asked. “Why do you need to know?” She shot back instinctively. She didn’t mean for the response to sound so rude, she was honestly just curious. Percy didn’t seem bothered by it, though. He just shrugged. “Wondering if it’s anything worth reading.” He smiled. Annabeth frowned. “No,” she blurted. Percy’s smile shrunk slightly, and he raised an eyebrow and held his hands up in surrender. She shook her head and started over. “No, I mean, it’s not.” she swallowed, “worth reading, I mean. You wouldn’t want to read this.” She laughed humorlessly, gripping her cup of coffee in her hand tightly. “It isn’t anything good. Just school work.” Percy frowned, and suddenly gripped his chair and dragged it around so that he was seated next to Annabeth. She sucked in a breath of air, her shoulders tensing. What was with this guy? “Nah, I don’t believe that.” He pulled her computer closer to him, and Annabeth restrained herself from stopping him, and instead wrapped her other hand around her silver A necklace that her mother had given her when she was in sixth grade. She stared down at her now cold coffee, anxiously waiting as Percy’s eyes scanned her paper. Honestly, under normal circumstances she hated people reading her work, but something about Percy made her curious to hear his opinion. She hated that. Percy hummed as he read something, and Annabeth’s head snapped up.

“What?” she asked, overeager to hear his thoughts. He tilted his head and looked at her. “You didn’t write about your mom?” Annabeth’s heart stuttered for a moment. “Excuse me?” she breathed. Why would he ask about her mom? Percy was frowning. “No, it’s just,” he shook his head and squinted like he was doing a hard math problem. “The prompt was asking you to write about someone that inspires you, and you wrote about,” Percy raised his eyebrows. “Your teacher?” His tone wasn’t judgmental, but one of disbelief. He glanced at her, hiding a smile. “Kiss ass, much?” Annabeth narrowed her eyes. “First of all, I’ll have you know that my teacher is amazing, okay? He’s taught me a lot.” Percy smirked. “He taught you a lot academically, or,” he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. “In other ways?” It took Annabeth a moment to decipher his sentence, but when she did, she instinctively shoved the boy away from her, astounded. He let out a loud laugh as Annabeth made a noise of disgust. “So now I know you have the immature mind of an middle school student,” she huffed. Percy was still laughing, and Annabeth glared. “That was gross and uncalled for,” she scolded him. “And not even funny. Get some better material,” Annabeth added. Percy held his hands above his head in surrender, but his playful smirk never vanished. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry. Bad joke--my nerves got the best of me.” He turned his attention back to Annabeth’s computer, while she made the effort to brush off the last part of his sentence. “Tell me more about your teacher,” He said, and Annabeth shot him an incredulous look, raising her eyebrows in an accusatory fashion. Percy raised his hands even higher. “I promise my middle school mind won’t make anymore inappropriate jokes,” he told her seriously. Annabeth eyed Percy for a moment, waiting for him to break. He held her eye contact, though, and seemed genuinely interested. So she launched into her history about Mr. Brunner. He was practically the father she never had. Well, she had a father. Just not a particularly good one. She explained how his lessons were more than just lectures; they were meaningful talks about life and the world around them. Mr. Brunner was just about the most inspiring person she knew, and that was more than what she could say about her own family. Annabeth paused her speech and took a sip of her cold coffee, which was more of an excuse to stop rambling rather than her actually enjoying its taste. Percy seemed to be letting her words sink in, and Annabeth laughed at the expression on his face. “Still trying to figure out how someone could actually admire a teacher?” she teased. Percy shook his head. “No, not at all. And I get that. I mean he sounds super cool and all. I was just surprised. Like, for me, my mom is the most inspiring person I know.” Annabeth felt her chest tighten, and a pang of a nameless emotion jabbed at her. Immediately she felt guilty for her reaction. So what, Percy had a mom he loved and admired? Why should she feel bitter towards him for that? He was a total stranger, but Annabeth already longed to have something he had. Percy seemed to have picked up on her expression, because his face displayed the same guilt Annabeth felt. He placed her laptop back in front of her. “But that’s just me. Family means something different to everyone.” Annabeth wanted to laugh at his use of the word ‘family’. Family could never fit her idea of the people she lived with. She exhaled, wanting to release every emotion Percy had dug up inside of her. Shaking her head, she said, “I’m basically done writing it anyway. Just editing.” For the third time. She stared at her computer screen with a new hatred, the formerly passionate essay now tainted with reminders of people she resented. People she would never write a praising sentence about even if her college acceptance letters depended on. Percy jumped to change the subject. “So why are you here on a Tuesday? Saturday’s are usually when you’re here?” She stared at him for a moment, registering his comment. Percy seems to be doing the same thing, because his tan complexion turns slightly pinker, and he starts to fidget with his hands. “Not that—I don’t like…know your schedule, I’m not a stalker I swear to god, I just mean this one Saturday—well, actually more than once, like it’s actually been three Saturdays that you’ve been here. Not like consecutively, actually the first time I saw you here was five weekends ago. Not that I count. I mean I do? But I’m not creepy, really, I just got really bored, so I like made up this kind of game where I was like, hey, let’s see how many times that cute blonde comes here to do homework. I mean not that you’re cute—wait no, you’re really cute. God. I just mean—“ “Percy.” “Uh, yeah?” She tried to hide the smile playing on her lips. “Do you want to meet here for coffee next Saturday?” Percy’s mouth fell slightly open. “Um, okay. I mean, totally,” He cleared his throat. “Uh, yes. Yeah. Coffee,” he swallowed. “would be good.” Annabeth closed her laptop and began collecting her things, looking down at her busywork to hide her blushing face. Unable to help it, she let out a little laugh when she thought about Percy’s adorable ramble. She stood, clutching her items close to her, glancing up at an already-up-right Percy and meeting his eyes. “So Saturday?” she confirmed. Percy let out a short, low laugh, partially aimed at himself. “Saturday.” He beamed at her, shoving his hands in his pockets and swaying back and forth on his heels. He had recovered from his flustered rant, and was back to his charming ways. Annabeth nodded, and turned to exit the shop before she exploded with giddiness. Percy called out to her, and she turned around to meet his sparking eyes. “I expect that essay to get an A.
