Only if you want to/have time but for a prompt- you know that scene after Emma brings Marian back where she’s trying to talk to Regina, who’s sitting against the other side of her office door? I’d love to read your take on what would have happened if Regina had let Emma in.
Thank you so much for this and I am so sorry for taking this long to answer! I hope you like it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emma realised she'd made a huge mistake with Regina this time. Her aim had been to tell Regina how she truly felt about her when she returned, but then Marian happened, and Emma started to suspect Regina didn't feel the same way she did about her. She felt terrible about what had transpired. Marian's description of Regina as a "monster" couldn't have helped matters. Emma paused for a few moments to explain to Marian that this isn't who Regina is anymore, and to make sure she understood not to say anything to Regina to that extent again, especially in front of their kid. Emma was enraged with Marian, but she was even more enraged at herself for allowing it to happen; she couldn't control what Marian said, but she did bring her back from the Enchanted Forest. She was to blame; even Henry refused to speak to her.
Emma made her way across town and went up to Regina's office, knowing that she had to give it a shot even if nothing came of it. She saw the light was switched on in the office, but there was no movement; perhaps she wasn't there, but Regina would never leave her office with the light turned on.
Emma marched up to the office door, rattling the doorknob and relinquishing it when she couldn't move the door. "Regina!" Emma insisted. " I know you're in there, I can see the lights on." Emma leaned her hand on the side of the wall, her full weight sagging into her palm, groaning in annoyance at herself.
Regina was on the opposite side of the door, sitting on the cold, unforgiving office floor, pressing against the door to keep Emma out. It wasn't even the fact that she had bought back Marian that bothered her; it was what Marian had said to Regina, branding her a "Monster." Regina tucked her arms over her knees and buried her face in them. Her tears seemed to fall from her eyes on their own.
Emma tried once more. "I know this is all complicated… but you can have happiness, I know it doesn’t seem like it but you just have to… fight. " Emma was giving everything she had to support the brunette, but Regina's grief was turning into rage. Emma resumed speaking, heading back to Regina's office after letting out a tired sigh and turning her head away from the door. "All right, if you won't, I will. Henry brought me to Storybrooke to bring back the happy endings, my job's not done until I do that for everyone. Including you." Emma thought that her words would encourage Regina to open up the door and realise that Emma was willing to go to any length to aid her, but still nothing happened. Emma couldn't do anything else and so she began to walk away, but suddenly... the door unlocked, much to Emma's astonishment.
When Emma turned around, the door was open, but there was no indication of Regina. "Gina?" Emma asked the woman.
"Come in and close the door." Regina spoke, her voice as broken as night and day, the agony in her voice palpable.
The blonde entered the room, closing the door behind her, to discover Regina leaning against the bookcase, sitting on the chilly floor with a drink in her hand. Regina flicked her wrist, locking the office door. "Did you really mean it?" Regina inquired, her gaze drawn to the blonde.
"What do you mean?"
"When you said about giving me my happy ending?"
Emma stepped carefully forward to the brunette, allowing her body to settle into a space alongside her. "I did mean it."
"I was planning on killing her."
“Who? Marian? I can't say I blame you. Regina, please accept my apologies -"
"No, Emma, I was going to have Sydney to track her out so I could murder her."
"But you didn't?" Emma inquired.
"No, not at all - but I was -"
"However, you didn't. Don't you see, Regina? The essential thing is that you did not follow through."
Regina was still enraged, but she couldn't help but grin at Emma's genuine concern for her.
"I understand Henry asked you to speak to me. So, anyway, thank you." Regina cracked a grin.
"Wait a minute, do you think I did this just for Henry?"
Regina gave a little laugh. "You wouldn't have done it if he hadn't asked, would you?" Regina's eyes widened as she said, "Wait - would you?"
Emma rose to her feet and walked to the opposite side of the office, Regina close behind her.
“Emma?”
"Fine, you know what, I wasn't going to say anything to you about this because I planned to before the Marian incident and then it was all - anyhow. - Yes, Regina, even if Henry hadn't asked, I would have rushed to you - don't you know that by now?"
“Why?”
“Why?” Emma shook her head in disbelief. "How dense are you, my God woman?" Emma took a step closer, holding Regina's face in her hands and lovingly kissed her tear-stained lips. "Now, does any of that answer your question?" she said as she broke the kiss.
"It does, but Emma, you're dating the pirate; how can anything happen between us?"
"Oh, you're oblivious, aren't you?"
"I'm not sure what you mean -."
"I ended things with him so I could be with you if you wanted." Emma gave a hesitant smile.
Regina couldn't help but smile. "Em, I was only with Robin because I couldn't be with you - I had no idea you felt the same way."
"Well, I personally think I do, and now I can be your happy ending."
