i originally started this just a few days before janice burgess passed away. if you have been following me for a while, you'd know that the backyardigans is still one of my all time favorite shows to this day: a major brainworm ive had since i was first popped out the womb.

she had such a huge hand in me and my siblings childhoods outside of backyardigans, as well, and i cant understate how much it means to me to see a black woman have such a major role in various popular animated franchises.

RIP to one of my greatest animation inspos, ESPECIALLY when it comes to children's entertainment. the fact that mrs. burgess passed on the day before my birthday hurts especially, so i dedicate this drawing to her! i would not be who i am w/o these goobers, so thank you

I heard the unfortunate news that Janice Burgess, the creator of Backyardigans passed away recently, which is pretty saddening. I think doing this little cosplay thing was a bit of a tribute to her.

i think tasha is criminally underrated. i feel like she gets smack for being sassy + a little stubborn but the characters are usually seen as like... around the age of a fourth grader? and plus, when you put that aside she's a good friend. i keep on seeing polls like "who's your fav backyardigan" and tasha always has the lowest percentage. like, my fav is austin bc i relate to him a lot, but tasha deserves just as much love (and plus her dress is pretty)

Uniqua and Tasha teen designs!!! Kinda been a slow process making these (these drawings are like a month apart) so I’ll post the others eventually when I make them!

I tried to keep them in similar outfits to what they wore as kids, but changed them depending on what I think they’d like to wear!

For Uniqua, I feel like she’s super artistic and just like being comfy!
