#tbh this is the same way a lot of video game franchises work too

extremely lukewarm take but i am now a firm believer that the least annoying way for multimovie franchises to exist is a la the mission impossible movies or the conjuring movies... basically theyre all loosely connected/have the same main characters, and the plots are a bit repetitive but thats fine! because each movie could also be wonderful standalone and you dont need to watch 20 other movies and tv shows just to get context for them! you go in, you know youre gonna watch ed and lorraine conjuring beat the shit out of some demons or youre gonna see tom cruise do some sick stunts and spy shit and explosions and its just a fun time.
and honestly ive enjoyed watching the conjuring and MI movies way more than the recent stuff that marvel is putting out and ill be the first to say the writing is better too. i dont think superhero fatigue is real bc i dont think "superhero" is a genre but I DO think were all just tired of needing to sit through an entire backlog's worth of movies just to get context for stuff. like I didn't even watch antman or dr strange and while I still understood the plot to infinity war and endgame well enough it just seemed strange and asspully and lazy just to see these random characters show up and do whatever it is they do

I was gonna make a request based on your Eren x Gamer Reader post but then I saw you take poly requests... Erejean x Gamer Reader? (She/her pronouns btw ^_^)
sure thing anon! your brain is huge. i started a one shot which is now sitting in my drafts bc i literally dont know how to finish it. maybe i'll post it later but for now here you go headcanons woohoo
eren and jeans dynamic makes it look like its impossible for them to share a girlfriend but it actually? works surprisingly well?
arguing is kinda their love language in a very strange weird way. if theyre not fighting somethings wrong but their like constant bickering actually is rlly important to you three's relationship lmfaooo a lot of communicating is just eren and jean fighting and then you pick up on something they say and you three talk it out. plus its gets all their energy out at the end of the day... like when puppies run around in circles bc they didnt go on long enough walks
jean is the planner of the couple, always making sure you guys get tickets to see this that and whatever, always figures out how ur gonna get places and when everyone will be picked up, makes sure everyones schedules are free and that theres no big game release that you'll miss and eren doesnt have work and jean isnt volunteering
in terms of nerdiness jean is a decent middle ground between you (who says "ummm actually..." unironically) and eren (who thought dungeons and dragons was a kinky thing) because he lives with connie so he gets roped into playing stuff like rainbow six seige and watching battlestar galactica into late hours of the night. also he's an only child who was prone to boredom as a kid so he played video games like any other only child. that being said he has a more extroverted personality and aptitude for sports so he just never got as absorbed in it as you did
this kind of makes eren jealous tbh because he thinks jean has more to relate with you then him. but jealousy is like a natural feeling and despite his feigned reluctance jean is happy to share his knowledge with him.
plus eren realizes that what he lacks in video game and movie knowledge he makes up in anime bc jean is clueless on that front. once you went on this huge rant about how sailor moon would decimate goku in a fight and jean just goes "gokus the pirate with the fox spirit, right? hes trying to become number one pro hero right?"
speaking of eren eren and jean are on the same volleyball team (i hc they play volleyball bc theyre tall but i think theyd be cute on any sports team because im weak hearted) and you become their fave cheerleader <3 they look for you in the stands before each game and have their own little ritual for good luck. when he spots you jean jumps really high (despite the team captain, levi screams at him to save it for when the game starts) and makes a heart with his arms and blows you a kiss when he gets in the air and its so embarrassing so eren just dogpiles the embarassment but giving you an over exaggerated wink its the worst theyre gross
jean gets you into connie's discord server after you complain that people are really rude to you in online games and eren is quick to demand an invite too even though he literally plays nothing and has no idea how discord works. he will log in and ping you to show you a meme and even though connie's server is really chill with rules (like 10 ppl max, just some friends hanging out) he has always wanted to say "no memes in general" so he does it every time. you have to show eren how to use private messages once connie jokes abt eren being his discord kitten.
cuddle pile while watching movies... jean is a film buff so you three have movie nights rlly often. its usually you sandwiched in between them with jean behind you and eren in front of you so you can play with his hair. jean's movie taste is actually really broad and you and eren both find a ton of new favorites through him.
they both really like listening to you ramble. you can explain soooo much lore abt your fave series and theyre both really invested. eren is more invested in the characters while jean is more focused on what happens next, but theyre both listening rlly well and making sure you know they care. they kinda care in different ways though? while eren is just passionate and because he's so passionate he must know about all things you like, jean is either interested or just likes hearing your voice. of the two jean is more likely to give you short answers and he'll be more dozed off so he's good to go to when you just want to rant. eren is going to ask you more questions and get wayyy more confused so he's good to go to when you want to explain or flesh out your points.
jean finds eren's jealousy of fictional characters sooooo ridiculous. whenever eren is pouting about some new video game guy youre in love with jean is rolling his eyes because of course its eren jaeger he's just looking for things to get angry at. "what are they gonna do idiot, come out of the tv?" but then one day there's a character that looks a lot like eren and suddenly he understands everything. but he realizes you have a thing for guys with long hair. he'll keep the mullet around for a while
they both really like having you sat in their laps and (unbeknownst to you) in order to avoid conflict they created a system. cozy game? eren. reading? jean. watching anime? eren. watching something live action? jean. playing a game on your phone? eren. watching an analysis video for your favorite franchise? jean. just messing around on your computer? rock paper scissors, best of three. eren likes to hug you tight and rest his head on your shoulder while talking to you. when it gets quiet he'll nuzzle his face in your neck and give you small kisses there. while jean likes to put his hands under your shirt and rest it on your stomach while you two chat. he's puts his head on your head or throws it back depending on your height and kinda just likes letting his hands wander, like rubbing up and down your arms or tickling you lightly.
you: i hate this stupid game
eren: yeah babe that game fucking sucks (has never played it in his life)
jean: then stop playing it?
you and eren, at the same time: what? no.
all in all they are good boyfriends 10/10 would recommend.

I was adding onto the DSMP Actor AU post, but it turned into Wilbur musician AU, haha rip me, and I only know SBI anyways so here’s a separate post. (It goes back to actor AU at the end.) It’s hypothetically still in the same universe though, and obviously inspired by it. If anything’s phrased weirdly, it’s cuz this was originally an addition to that.
tbh I kinda adhered to their IRL careers too much compared to the OP but whatever it’s fine.
Also frick the “Dream SMP” for not having a better title lmaooo
Wilbur is an indie artist really on the come up
Your City Gave Me Asthma was pretty good for a first release, popular with both new fans and fans of his acting.
He had starred in a short mystery/thriller-ish series that started off disguised as a normal sitcom: Chilly in Lincolnshire {Editor Wilbur ARG}
It had a prominent release because of Jack Massey’s involvement and previous fame, but production was abruptly scrapped before it tied everything up with a bow on top, so to speak. It’s still unclear if this was actually planned in order to tell the story the way they way wanted.
Even before that, critics had mixed reviews, either applauding the storytelling and acting or calling it “irrationally confusing, an amateurish attempt to box unconventional storytelling into a conventional medium.”
Also SootHouse was a sitcom that achieved a cult following during the two seasons it ran before cancellation. Either you’re a fan or you’re never heard of it, and people constantly forget Wilbur was in it.
(He was a few other old shows on his resume too. Wilbur always focuses on the newest project, so everyone always forgets about what he was in before.)
Maybe I Was Boring EP was initially just bonus tracks on his website, but his fans liked it so much he gave it a wider release
In between, he had a few comedy songs go viral on youtube. Everybody was so confused when they realized it was the same Wilbur as musician/actor Wilbur. He laughed about it in an interview, saying “How many Wilburs do you know?”
That’s when it came out that “Wilbur Soot” was actually a stage name. (”Ha, fair, only one.” “Make that zero-- my name’s not really Wilbur.”)
He kinda disappeared after that?? Didn’t do anything, really inactive on social media. It was semi-confirmed that he was both working on his mental health and prepping some stuff (music, auditions).
But anyways he just released a series of singles, combined into Digital Love {E-girl trilogy}-- he’s transformed his image yet again, but this time he does take ownership of all his past ventures.
The release of Digital Love bridges the end of SMP Earth and the beginning Dream SMP.
But before that there was MCC and the other stuff.
They are shows where celebrities team up do stuff-- you know the type
but Minecraft Monday is still inexplicably Minecraft Monday. Some Youtuber just managed to get all these up and coming celebrities to play a Minecraft tournament.
And that’s where the Sleepy Bois (minus Tommy) met IRL so that’s where they meet here.
SMP Earth, like Minecraft Manhunts, is also a former show they were on. I’m going to call it World Domination. Don’t @ me; I know that’s trash lol.
They and the Dream Team met up because of their shared fanbases and were even talking a crossover, but it didn’t really work that well for the stories so they scrapped it
They make a non-canon cross over episode anyways {no IRL equivalent, I think}
Everybody loves the cons. Everytime there’s a con, five friendships are made and eight ideas are created.
Techno backstory time
He’s done a lot of long running, though not exactly popular, serials and sitcoms: Blitz, Survival Games, and Sky Wars.
Winstreak: 1000 {Bed Wars 1000 winstreak} was so popular they made a second season, but it never got as big as the first. He worked nearly exclusively with Hypixel Studios.
He was doing lots of random content for their new Sky World universe {Skyblock} -- the small studio was big on experimentation -- , when a fictional documentary, The Great Potato War, went proper viral.
They made two sequels WHILE he was doing those celebrity team challenge shows and then World Domination, and they were actually good sequels.
Got a reputation for being shallow and a sell-out, but he makes a joke of it so much he gets away with it and constantly self-promos.
Also a kinda scary to work with for the first time because of how single-minded he can get, but once you realize how socially awkward he is it’s okay.
Now that’s he’s in a lot of stuff with worldbuilding, he practically has the wikis memorized.
Tommy mainly did limited series and movies before World Domination, where he met the SBI.
He’d had been a fan of Wilbur for a while, and was super star-struck at first, but got over it really quickly in his Tommy style
He still is a total fanboy at concerts and whenever a new music video drops. “I’m friends with the guy! I know him, Wilbur Soot!” “Tommy, you’re famous too.” “Yeah, cuz I’m practically in the video!” “No--”
Wilbur takes Tommy to one of his concerts and he’s so hyped the entire time, especially to go behind the scenes and on the stage.
Sometimes he gets stressed about the pressure of being a child star, but Techno, Philza, and Wilbur promise to stand by him and they make him feel protected
One time Wilbur’s drunk and almost hands Tommy a drink before swearing and going, “You’re a bloody child! You can’t have that! God, what would Philza think?” Tommy’s not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed.
Philza laughs at the story and actually lets Tommy try a little in a more controlled, responsible situation. Tommy texts his mum first, and then hates the drink anyways. (”This is rubbish! I am a man, but I’m not drinking this!” Techno: “Alcohol is disappointing. I drink orphan’s tears instead.” “Techno WHAT--”)
Philza had been the star of a zombie apocalypse show: Golden Core
He did canonically die to a child zombie in the movie version. Yes, they made a movie version of the TV show, because the Golden Core franchise actually has had many other shows {other hardcore series}.
Everybody tries to get the child zombie props near him because of that (they’re puppets)
He’s done a lot of other things, like in the original actor AU post, but none of them came close in popularity.
He gives the rest of the SBI the knowledge he’s gained from being in the biz for so long.
There’s also a running joke about SBI meaning “Spy Boys Incorporated” and them starring in a comedy spy movie
The fans would very much actually like this to happen. There’s so many fanons for it (maybe I’ll write one....)
Back to the DSMP. Maybe I’ll call it Dreamland or smth.
Wilbur constantly asks Tommy if he’s okay after any difficult scenes
Especially when they were hanging out together a lot in the exile arc.
All the brother scenes were cut because Wilbur kept breaking down and crying in them.
Sometimes people actually ask Techno and Tommy if they’re actually brothers. Tommy tries to go along with it half the time on the basis of “it’s be funny,” so there’s a subset of casual fans that genuinely don’t know.
After Alivebur was killed off, Wilbur was going to leave the show to concentrate on his music
But he missed the SMP and hanging so much that he just showed up on set one day saying “I’m a ghost now,” and everyone just rolled with it
Alivebur was so popular that, seeing that Wilbur was willing, they decided to bring him back for Season 3. He’s been avoiding doing heavy scenes, but he still seems really invested and like he wants to come back to the show.
Wilbur talks with Techno about writing and lore a lot
it’s one the few times Wilbur actually seems like the older one
Wilbur attempted to get a D&D group going in the cast, but the show was already close enough, with the amount of improvisation they can get by with
Tommy’s Pigstep cover happened, but the background was Philza clapping barely in time with just Wilbur on bass instead (and of course Techno’s “BAHP”s)
It was a charity stream. They had put on their costumes (clothes only) for a previous goal.
This one was simply called “We rap.”
Some people were almost disappointed that Tommy was the only one actually rapping, but he was so funny it made up for it.
Okay I spent the whole morning on this and it got way too long but I think I’m finally out of ideas. sorry haha hope you enjoyed! ^_^

Some  little  MISC  Shadow  headcanons :
Shadow’s  favrioute  movie  is  the  Terminator  &  the  surrounding  franchise.  He  has  the  entire  movie  collection  on  DVD.  He  also  loves  MUSIC.  Yes  his  taste  is  of  course  alt  rock  /  pop  punk  /  post-  grudge,  etc.  Thats  his  aestheticque  to  a  t.  He’s  also  said  that  he’s  a  fan  of  action  movies  in  general.  Fast  &  the  Furious,  John  Wick,  Robocop,  Die  Hard  are  also  very  up  Shadow’s  ally.
He  also  has  lots  of  video  games.  His  favrioute  include  Madden  Football  (  he  has  a  lot  of  Madden  games,  )  Burn  Out,  Need  for  Speed,  God  of  War  &  Doom.  He’s  also  a  fan  of  a  few  of  the  GTAs.  Yes  Shadow’s  got  the  edgiest  video  game  taste  &  given  he  plays  a  lot  of  shooters  with  graphic  content  its  KIND  OF  “”helped””  a  little  with  his  PTSD  because  its  desensitised  him  to  some  stuff  like  the  sound  of  guns  &  he  just  likes  killing  stuff.
Yes,  Shadow  suffers  PTSD  &  survivors  guilt.  He’s  undiagnosed  &  untreated.  Shadow’s  mental  health  however  is  not  really  taken  into  consideration  as  he  is,  unfortunately,  treated  and  thought  of  largely  as  a  tool  by  his  place  of  work  (  G.U.N  )  Essentially  in  a  way  the  government  eventually  got  what  it  wanted  with  Shadow  (  a  bio-weapon  )  but  thats  a  headcanon  for  another  time  because  theres  a  lot  to  unpack.  I  will  say  though  that  Shadow  IS  somewhat  aware  of  this  but  he  believes  mainly  its  in  everyone’s  best  interest  &  he  does  have  his  supports  &  people  who  are  in  his  corner  &  who  genuinely  mean  well  for  him  (  Commander  Tower  )
Yes  Shadow  may  be  the  guy  that  doesn’t  really  associate  with  Social  media,  no  facebook,  instagram,  or  twitter  to  speak  of,  but  he  does  have  a  gaming  account  &  he  uses  twitch  where  he's  pretty  popular.  He  does  good  speed  runs  of  classic  games,  but  he  never  shows  his  face  so  he's  kind  of  anonymous.  Absolutely  NO  one  knows  about  this,  not  even  Rouge  or  Omega.  Its  debatable  whether  or  not  Shadow’s  “old  enough”  to  live  on  his  own  but  he  does.  He  has  a  VERY  small  apartment  supplied  to  him  by  G.U.N.  &  it  looks  like  a  messy  teenagers  room  at  all  times.
He  kept  his  bike  The  Dark  Rider.  It’s  actually  sitting  INSIDE  his  apartment.  Yes  he  brought  the  motorbike  inside.  It  is  currently  situated  between  what  would  be  his  kitchen  &  living  room.  He  has  a  habit  of  literally  riding  it  down  his  stairs  &  out  into  the  side  ally  &  away  like  he  thinks  he's  cursing  out  the  batcave  or  something.  Who  is  gonna  tell  him  not  to  ?  He  has  a  small  rack  of  clothes  off  to  the  side  &  on  it  hangs  (  1  )  leather  Jacket,  (  1  )  Tuxedo  in  a  plastic,  protective  cover.  (  Rouge  made  him  get  this  so  they  could  go  to  formal  functions  together  )  &  a  couple  of  Halloween  costumes  &  accessories  he’s  accumulated.
The  apartment  is  sitting  atop  a  pizza  shop  which  is  where  he  eats  a  lot  of  the  time.  The  ultimate  lifeform  lives  on  pizza,  milkshakes,  pizza  pockets,  doritos  &  fizzy  drinks.  He  can  sort  of  cook  but  he  really  doesn’t  bother  85%  of  the  time.  Don’t  try  this  at  home  folks,  he  has  a  one  of  a  kind  metabolism.
He  has  a  picture  of  Maria  &  Gerald  that's  kept  in  a  drawer.  It  doesn’t  sit  anywhere  it  can  seen  because  tbh  he  doesn't  like  remembering  shit  so,  EVEN  THOUGH  he's  kept  the  picture  of  them  he  doesn’t  look  at  it  too  often.  He  gets  sad  &  he  don’t  got  time  to  get  sad  about  shit.  He  has  a  couple  online  friends  he  talks  to  semi  regularly,  through  his  little  gaming  channel.  He  finds  it  easier  to  connect  to  &  talk  to  folks  online.  Again,  no  one  really  knows  about  this.
He’s  super  embarrassed  &  insecure  about  his  green  blood  but  at  the  same  time  his  rapid  healing  factor  is  literally  freaky  cool  &  fun  to  watch.  He’d  might  invite  you  to  watch  one  of  his  wounds  heal  in  the  right  circumstance  if  he  really  likes  you.  As  another  note  Shadow’s  blood  is  “red”  inside  of  him,  but  becomes  a  sickly  dark  green  once  it  comes  in  contact  with  the  air.
Funnily  enough  Shadow’s  favrioute  colour  is  not  Black  or  Red.  Its  actually  green,  bright  green  though.  Chaos  Emerald  Green,  like  the  most  common  chaos  force.  He  also  likes  blues  &  golds.  Boi  just  knows  how  to  make  the  most  of  an  aesthetic.
Has  a  thing  for  jewellery  believe  it  or  not.  Did  Rouge  rub  off  on  him  ?  We  don’t  know  !  But  he  does  like  accessories.  Necklaces,  bracelets  &  earrings.  He’d  wear  them  if  he  could  bother  himself.  He’s  not  too  crazy  into  gems,  but  he  likes  metals  &  such,  particularly  things  of  gold  &  gunmetal  grey.  He  does  have  some  things  he's  collected  &  he’d  have  his  ears  pierced  if  he  could  be  bothered.  The  reason  he  doesn’t  really  bother  is  because  that  kind  of  stuff  is  no  good  in  combat  so  he  doesn’t  see  the  point.
He  KIND  OF  looks  at  Commander  Tower  as  a  father  figure  in  some  ways.  Commander  Tower  is  also  the  guy  responsible  for  Shadow’s  entire  set  up.  He  visits  often  &  often  invites  Shadow  to  family  get-togethers,  which  believe  it  or  not  Shadow  usually  does  attend.
Above  all,  Shadow  wants  to  live  the  way  Maria  &  Gerald  would  have  wanted.  He  wants  to  be  kind  &  understanding.  He  wants  to  love  &  trust  &  has  tried  to  make  steps  to  do  this  &  better  fit  in  with  those  around  him  who  inhabit  earth  but  this  is  still  a  process  of  unlearning  anger/hate/hurt/fear/distrust  he  has  felt  &  healing  from  trauma.  He’s  doing  okay  all  things  considered.
Shadow  is  not  the  “leader”  of  team  Dark.  Rouge  is.  HOWEVER  this  is  only  apparent  outside  of  combat  situations  because  within  them  Shadow  appears  to  be  the  one  in  charge.  This  is  all  because  Shadow’s  combat  prowess  &  ability  to  analyse,  strategize  &  take  down  enemies  accordingly  is  unmatched.  Team  Dark  follows  Shadow  in  a  fight,  but  they  follow  Rouge  everywhere  else.  Shadow  does  not  consider  himself  Team  Darks  leader  in  any  way  &  if  asked  he’d  be  confused  as  to  why  anyone  thinks  that.  He’s  also  not  interested  in  being  their  leader.
This  is  HOWEVER  something  that  has  been  pushed  by  G.U.N  given  Shadow  is  recognised  as  the  most  “responsible”  out  of  the  three.  In  fact  there  had  been  suggestions  of  separating  Shadow  from  Rouge  &  Omega  all  together  but  that  can’t  happen  cos  they’re  Shadow’s  besties  &  he’s  attached.
Shadows  fur  is  denser  than  Sonic’s  &  visibly  longer.  It  wouldn’t  be  a  stretch  to  call  Shadow  “fluffy.”  This  is  most  obvious  via  the  tuft  of  white  fluff  on  Shadow’s  chest.  Other  interesting  appearance  notes  for  Shadow  are  that  his  quills  are  not  like  a  normal  hedgehogs.  They’re  actually  serrated  on  the  underside  &  due  to  some  having  an  upturned  position  Shadow  essentially  becomes  a  living  buzz  saw  when  he  preforms  a  spin  dash.  They’re  also  a  lot  stronger  &  don’t  tend  to  fall  out  as  easy.  Moreover,  Shadow  has  more  &  sharper  teeth  than  usual  for  hedgehogs  as  well.  He  also  tends  to  have  an  extremely  high  pain  tolerance.
Also  important  to  mention  Shadow  can  be  surprisingly  naïve  &  innocent  in  his  ways.  Its  good  to  note  that  despite  Shadows  high  intelligence  &  advanced  development  he  is  technically  very  young  as  he  spent  50  years  entirely  dormant  &  prior  to  that  only  interacted  with  Gerald  &  Maria  frequently,  with  his  interactions  with  the  ARK  population  &  scientists  being  less  frequent  &  often  extremely  brief.
Shadow  was  less  than  a  year  old  when  he  was  "deactivated.”  This  will  occasionally  reflect  in  my  portrayal.  I’ll  go  into  this  a  bit  more  in  depth  later  but  there  somethings  Shadow  just  doesn’t  really  know  that  it  might  be  expected  of  a  Hedgehog  who  looks  about  his  age  (  teens  )  to  know.  It’s  not  uncommon  that  Shadow’s  still  kinda  learning  about  stuff.  This  can  also  be  semi  verse  dependent  given  I  play  Shadow  at  various  points  in  his  life.
Due  to  the  Black  Arms  being  largely  plasmavoric  in  my  headcanon,  as  far  as  eating  preferences  go,  outside  of  very  convenient  junk  foods  Shadow  strongly  gravitates  toward  meat  &  meat  products.  He’s  inclined  to  eat  things  raw  but  he  doesn’t  as  he  HAS  learnt  that  this  “socially  unacceptable.”  (  Thanks,  Rouge.  )

going off on the emulator thing but it is so strange how the rich higher ups at nintendo or any other big gaming company try so hard to prevent people from emulating games but at the same time try to pretend some more older games or gaming series don't exist but get mad that people emulate them hmm
tbh i love a lot of nintendo's gaming franchises like mario, zelda, kirby, earthbound/mother, pokemon, and animal crossing but i just hate how the greedy higher ups and how they try to shut down emulators (which makes gaming a whole heck a lot accessible) and overprice their games which makes it hard for fans who want to buy it hard to get and how they make their game developers rush their games just to appease the deadline and and even their own older games aren't safe from being hard to play if you want to play it on a console and getting it used for example there was a kirby game for gamecube i saw going for 80$!!! and a mario game for 120$!!! like jesus
if i was a game developer and i saw people playing my game on a console and an emulator i wouldn't be mad at the person who downloaded it on the computer i just be happy that they are playing my game because who knows if they enjoy my game there are more fans and people to talk about my game!!
sorry for the rant lmao
Don’t be sorry! I feel the same way! Besides it’s always nice to know people read my tags djdkskkdd and I always love getting asks!
You made a lot of good points here! It’s all about the money, really. It always is :/ It must tie back to companies viewing piracy as a monetary loss when it’s really not because those people weren’t already paying for a product so it’s only a potential loss. But in a situation like this where old consoles are discontinued and go for really high online (which doesn’t even give the company money anyway so they’re not losing any potential either way) they’re just… not available. It makes me so mad too I wish they were all accessible! And exactly emulators help a lot with that! If I were a game developer I’d feel exactly the same way but they’re not usually the ones making the decisions to pull games and consoles from the market or setting unreasonable deadlines for their coworkers/employees. It’s usually the higher-ups who don’t do any of the actual work on the game and get the most profit. Ughhh ig sucks. Luckily there are still good emulators out there if you look! I’m using Citra rn (found the game file elsewhere) for a 3ds game (they might have more consoles but im not sure) and I met a few roadblocks but I was able to work around them. Hopefully it stays that way. Theoretically the point of video games should be that everyone can play them but no it’s about money I guess.

I beat Borderlands 3′s main campaign a while ago so here’s my two cents:
Gameplay: More of the same which is good gunplay, though horrifically unbalanced up until you hit Mayhem Mode. The default Normal difficulty is stupid easy that I question what Easy is like.
Story: Kinda trash, kinda good. It starts off really slow and TBH I don’t think it picks up until like 70% of the way in which is obviously a bad thing. There’s weird interludes too where it feels like the story isn’t really progressing at all, and a few points where it seems like the story is progressing in one way only to abruptly switch gears in the next act. It seemed like they had multiple ideas for where they wanted to take it but ended up mixing them all together which didn’t super work out. Ending I thought was kinda neat though.
Overall, I’d say 7/10. More of the gameplay I remembered fondly just with a disappointing story. I rate it so highly though because I’m well aware that it’s a gameplay-first video game.
Apparently Borderlands 4 is rumored to be in production already and considering there were concrete plans to bring Handsome Jack back into BL3 that were eventually scrapped, I’d wager he’s going to make an appearance in BL4. A lot of people don’t want him to come back, and arguably they might be right, it’s best not to milk it for too long but I personally think they should take a bit of a novel approach to the franchise and bring him back endlessly.
Normally we don’t see this kind of story beat happen in RPGs like Borderlands because they’re meant to follow some sense of logic but I think Borderlands is the perfect game to pull this effect off and have it be sort of brushed off as “because it’s Borderlands”. You know how Bowser comes back in every single Mario game and we never question it? Or how the bad guy in any kids cartoon comes back every episode because it’s serialized so what happened last episode has little to no impact on this episode? I think they could do something like that specifically with Handsome Jack.
I still like that the main stories are somewhat loosely connected and that the universe keeps evolving/changing but I think having one serialized immovable object like Jack would work. They could riff on it and make jokes all the time about how it’s weird and annoying that this guy keeps coming back because we’re positive we took him down last time. Might even be funnier if he isn’t aware of it himself, like he just ignores any and all comments about having died in the past.
I don’t know, might be a bad idea but it’s an idea that to me screams “Borderlands” and I think it would be cool. Lord knows after the Calypso Twins they desperately need a better villain.

what’s one particular fanbase/creator/media that you have grown ridiculously wary about after being involved with it? like stupidly ridiculous? cus... a bitch can’t lie, this looming threat of a game of thrones prequel is taking me back to 2014 when i woke up daily just to lament and shake with anger over both grrm’s writing and his fans. it’s loser behavior i know but for the next couple of years i avoided everything i could about that franchise & i’ve accepted i cannot escape it anymore 🗿
OOOO THIS IS A FUN QUESTION! honestly, game of thrones is a good pick. for me it’d have to be anything created by disney, but specifically under the star wars name. i cannot tell you how enamored and in love with star wars ive been since i was a kid, and literally the sequel trilogy, while i was super excited for in ep. 7, is the worst thing ever. worse than the prequels imo. anything disney has made for star wars is lukewarm at best, disregarding the mandalorian and rogue one and star wars rebels, or just hot shit at best (sequel trilogy, han solo movie). its sad but the content pre disney, while not the most cohesive bc the starwars lucasfilms era of the expanded universe was huge and not always stellar, felt like it was star wars. idk. its sad
on a more general note, f*ndom in general is just something ive become ridiculously wary with as a whole. ao3 is a garbage site, but the site with the most traction. a lot of f*ndom praises white cishet voices over lgbt poc, and you can tell by the works that are popular mostly being racist, abusive, toxic, or downright illegal. i dont casually scroll through ao3—i only read fics that are recommended to me by people i trust because you never know what youre clicking on, even with the supposed ‘warnings’. if there was another website that had such a good formatting for fic while still having morals and boundaries, i would move to that website. altho tbh, once im finished with fuck konoha series, i probably wont be focusing on producing fanfic anymore and just focus on my original works.
also to add on for the general stuff, anything netflix produces i am like.. just not that interested anymore. id rather rewatch completed shows i love than start something new in case i get invested in it and it gets cancelled. video games, as a whole, are something im wary about too because of companys releasing unfinished games with the promise of updates or dlc to fill in the world. ive only played like 3 new games counting from 2019-2021 (animal crossing, star wars: fallen order, the outer worlds—which i still havent finished but havent had time to play) while replaying all my old games i still have saved. hollywood movies feel so dry to me rn bc theyre all the same, like i feel like ive watched these movies before, these characters, etc.
this makes me sound super picky but , like, i am! i only have limited amounts of time when not at school, work, or doing household chores/responsibilities and its like.. theres just not a lot of good media rn that im seeing that catches my attention the way it used to like 3-5 years ago. idk if its adhd, the stress of the pandemic, therapy teaching me not to distract myself with engorging on media, or the fact im getting older or what but like.... theres just not a lot of stuff out rn that im willing to put in my time for and its kind of a bummer

Conspicuous Media Consumption, 2020
it’s that time of year again! *saddest toot from the party horn*
for those of you just joining us: it’s a “consume a different content every week for 48 weeks of the year” challenge. for a longer explanation, check out last year’s write-up here, and as always, feel free to pop in and ask questions about any and all of this content.
(same disclaimer as last year too: content for this project ONLY here, and not certain...*looks at my billion Sad Cop Lady posts*...hyperfixations.)
(man remember when i was big into X-Men comics earlier this year? better times than these, if only because no one's discoursing about Emma Frost’s woobie/war criminal ratio anymore--her w/w, if you will)
(...i swear at one point i didn’t exclusively like platinum blondes but alas)
Bitter Root (comic, 1 issue finished 1/1/2020): still very cool on a basic concept level, but runs into the Image Comics problem of just not having enough content to keep my interest beyond that. part of that is on me, for picking it up again BEFORE the second arc rolled out, but the first five issues didn’t really follow (or resolve) any cohesive story either, so...meh.
Immortal Hulk (comic, 3 trades finished 1/17/2020): still not gonna be something i care deeply about (maybe one of Bruce’s Hulksonas dyed his hair???), but i do want to give kudos to Al Ewing for sheer consistency in terms of sustaining this level of quality storytelling month by month for more than two years now. working with the dense archive of the Hulk mythos and managing to make it interesting and thoughtful is impressive even if i personally would not expend the same effort.
Disco Elysium (game, finished 1/18/2020): honestly i should have twigged onto what this year was gonna be like when the third thing i drew from the barrel was pure uncut Eastern European flavored depression. i faintly recall people ragging on it for being pretentiously cynical, but i actually thought its core slid more towards idealism than people give it credit for. also gratified that i haven’t heard anything about Robert Kurvitz using slave labor to finish it, which is a thing we have to say about our video games now!!! fun.
Watchmen (TV, 7 episodes finished 1/27/2020): i am a fool who wants to believe in Damon Lindelof and I WAS RIGHT!!! honestly still cannot believe that he pulled off this highwire act with such deft aplomb. might be my favorite TV this year, which is a pretty high bar given how much TV i ended up watching.
On a Sunbeam (comic, finished 2/1/2020): Tillie Walden rightly deserves all the praise for inventive queer storytelling, but i will say that on reread--since i first read this as a webcomic--there ARE some issues with pacing here that clearly come from the foibles of its original intended medium. still just excellent, even if after some plot significant haircuts i was having trouble telling a few folks apart.
Lazarus (comic, 1 trade finished 2/8/2020): it’s so good and i want moooooorrrreee--though obviously Rucka and Lark have the right to take all the time they need. the newer longer issues work really well with the epic prestige drama vibes of the story! i’m into it.
The Good Place (TV, 4 seasons finished 2/18/2020): i’m gonna be super honest: i actually wasn’t a big fan of the finale, nor the last season as a whole. it felt like all of Eleanor’s flaws vanished for a majority of the season, and the Chidi-centric episode where they tried to give a legible justification for why he’s Like This was...i didn’t care for it. still, it’s so good and unique on the WHOLE that we’ll literally never get anything like this ever again, and that counts for a lot.
The Old Republic (game, finished 2/21/2020): it’s an MMO so it will never actually Be Finished so long as the servers aren’t shut down, but i caught up on the content i’d missed in the intervening months. Onslaught thus far has mostly been...kinda bland tbh; going back to Imps vs. Rebs after all the shakeups in the previous expansions feels like a waste.
High Road (album, finished 2/22/2020): someone should tell Kesha not to say that word!! otherwise i was very happy with this album, and happy FOR her even though we don’t know each other. being able to find joy again in the same genre of music you made while you were being horrifically exploited is very cool.
Young Justice (TV, 13 episodes finished 2/28/2020): given how much the middle stuff dragged--STOP KILLING YOUR HIJABI CHARACTER IN HORRIFIC WAYS--i was...actually kinda mad by how the end managed to stick the landing anyway. the day being saved by Vic’s self-acceptance and Violet’s sublime compassion was A+, and even the Brion/Tara switchup was a pleasant surprise, though it relied on me caring about Brion MUCH MORE than i actually did.
Manic (album, finished 2/29/2020): do people still care for/about Halsey? i feel like even That One Song that was on every tumblr gifset ever has kinda faded into obscurity at this point. this album was...okay. i feel like people give Halsey a pass for extremely obvious lyrical turns that they wouldn’t for other folks because of her subject material--which is fine. not really my cup of tea, but i also listened to lots of Relient K this year, so that’s probably a good thing.
Jade Empire (game, 3/10/2020): the only 3D-era Bioware game that didn’t franchise out, and for good fucking reason!!! the Orientalism and appropriation really haven’t aged well, and even beyond that the story was...standard Bioware faire. even my usual “my wife’s a bitch i love her” Bioware type didn’t do it for me, and i just ended up romancing no one. it did make me think a lot about what level of cultural borrowing is accepted nowadays, and why: people still look fondly at Avatar and talk about how ~accurate and respectful it was, for example, despite it being staffed almost entirely by white folks, and the Orientalism ALL OVER the monk class in DND is still fine for some reason.
Alif the Unseen (book, finished 3/31/2020): interesting to have read this AFTER reading The Bird King last year, because it highlights how the intervening years have shifted G. Willow Wilson’s thematic interest and improved her craft. i’m actually quite fond of how her characterization work is rougher here--Alif is extremely flawed to the point of being insufferable, but it makes his development by the end more satisfying. Dina is also just good and i love her
Baldur’s Gate (2 games, finished 5/31/2020): well, having finally finished the series i’m happy to say that it...still doesn’t really do it for me, sorry. any awesome story moments were overshadowed by the EXCRUCIATING inventory management system and the combat (i still don’t know what a THAC0 is and at this point i’m afraid to find out). these games crucially lack the Home Base that later Bioware games were so good about, and that (coupled with the huge cast of characters you can drop off and never see again) really hurts the intimacy for me. by the time we finally did get one it was the Hell Dimension in Throne of Bhaal, and i was just...trying to get through it. (yes, i did just say that about one of the most beloved expansions ever to one of the most beloved games ever.) THIS particular iteration of “my wife’s a bitch i love her” was very good, but the game wouldn’t let me romance her :(
The Underground Railroad (book, finished 6/19/2020): honestly what is there even left to say at this point! it was exactly as good as every critic on the planet said it was, even with my usual aversion to hype. draining and horrifying in turns but still insistent upon a future for Black folks.
Steven Universe (6 seasons and a mooooooviiieeee, finished 7/11/2020): yes, i DID finish the show and almost immediately begin a rewatch. this series is now one of my top five most formative things, and the amount of love and respect i have for it is incalculable. that said: i once again did not love how the central conflict of Future was resolved (just the resolution--i loved the finale just fine). for all of Steven’s breakdown was built up, resolving it with “EVERYONE HUG HIM UNTIL HE CRIES” felt...cheap, especially since up until this point the show had been so good about treating trauma and mental illness with the respect and nuance it deserves. it made me wish some of the earlier, less substantial episodes had been cut so we could spend more time at the end.
What It Is (comic, finished 8/19/2020): y’all i love Lynda Barry SO MUCH. for the longest time i was worried that One Hundred Demons was more a lightning in a bottle situation but every book of hers i pick up makes me feel obscure emotions i didn’t even realize existed. the compassionate way she’s able to describe her child self and how weird and fucked up she was (and still is) is honestly aspirational.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (TV, 5 seasons finished 9/26/2020): so here’s a reversal of what i’ve been complaining about with other shows: i was mostly lukewarm-to-warm about She-Ra, but the later seasons and the finale made me much more into it as a whole. more shows should improve in stakes and overall quality as they age tbh!! i still don’t actively love Catradora (my sole quibble with season 5 actually has to do with the way Adora kept backsliding as a character to make certain Plot/Relationship things happen), but i’m very happy for them nonetheless. i can certainly appreciate a show that will go for High Feeling over tight plot. dark horse standout moments: trees growing everywhere proving that Perfuma Was Right, and Hordak and Adora seeing each other--that weirdly intimate moment of recognition.
Fetch the Bolt Cutters (album, finished 10/7/2020): again i find myself not having much to say that no one else has said. it’s good! once again love it when an artist reclaims something they’d attached with negative affect (anxiety, depression, disordered eating) for better and brighter things.
Solutions and Other Problems (comic, finished 10/25/2020): i was very into Allie Brosh’s ambition with this book, which feels weird to say but i stand by it. it’s cool to see an artist try to make a new medium work for them instead of just sticking to what already works. not all the experimentation was 100% effective, but it was still delightful and occasionally devastating to read, so.
Legend of Zelda (3 games: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Link Between Worlds, finished 11/1/2020): this was the third time i’d played Ocarina of Time, which made it the nice, comforting groove i settled into before Majora’s Mask blatted me in the face. i’m not usually a completionist Zelda person because...the gameplay in Zelda is bad, do not at me it just is, but i really felt like i HAD to be one for Majora’s Mask since the whole point is to get attached to the banalities of the town. i’m sure nobody’s surprised that i loved it, even if it gave me an existential crisis about how life goes on in the game for NPCs when you’re not there to save them from it, and there’s not enough time to save them all all the time (also not a surprise to anyone: Romani and Cremia gave Personal Feelings). Link Between Worlds...bad. not like in a “this is a bad story by every measurable gauge” way, but i was already struggling with the 2D playstyle shift enough that for the whole story to end with some “yes it’s v sad that Lorule is Like This but trying to steal Hyrule’s privilege is Even Worse Actually” noblesse oblige bullshit left a VERY poor taste in my mouth, this year of all years. i did audibly gasp when Ravio took off his mask, though. i’m currently playing Breath of the Wild in cautious increments; it’s the first time i’ve enjoyed early Zelda gameplay, but if they wanted fully voiced cutscenes i wish they got voice actors who...knew what words sound like.
folklore (album, finished 11/6/2020): my belief that Taylor Swift is Just Fine continues, i’m afraid. i LIKED this album, don’t get me wrong, and respect her constant drive to innovate, but i didn’t love it substantially more or less than any other Taylor Swift album. mostly i’m just tickled by how she thinks leaning into the indie aesthetic means borrowing Vita Sackville-West’s entire wardrobe, though i will admit to feeling Something when she swore in a song. i think it was like. savage vindication?? you go ahead and swear, Taylor Swift. you deserve it.
Shore (album, finished 11/19/2020): do people still care about the Fleet Foxes? i think there was some Drama with Josh Tillman a while back but i don’t remember where the discourse landed with who was being more problematic. it was nostalgic for me to listen to their new album--made me remember being an undergrad who exclusively listened to men who mumbled and played acoustic guitar all over again.
Star Wars (3 movies: original trilogy, finished 11/27/2020): there is So Much bad Star Wars these days that every time i rewatch the original trilogy i’m afraid that they will suddenly be bad, but guess what! they’re not. i love these children and their hot mess stories, i love that Lando doesn’t know how to say his best friend’s name. what stood out to me this time was the way Obi-Wan described the Force in A New Hope, which strongly implied that ANYONE can be Force Sensitive; that obviously faded with each subsequent movie, but part of me does wish they’d kept it.
X of Swords (comics, 22 issues finished 12/5/2020): i am enjoying Hickman’s X-lines!!! not so much here for the Grand Conspiracy or whatever, but the character work and highkey weirdness is fabulous--they FEEL like X-Men, despite all the shakeups in-universe. this crossover is a nice microcosm of all that: grandiloquently all over the place, but still full of cool standout moments and genuine hilarity. ILLYANA DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO SPELL MAGIC.
Fire Emblem (4 games: Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Awakening, finished 12/14/2020): this was the thing that i was closest to giving up early on, but i ended up hyperfixating on it instead. that’s a credit to what the gameplay does to my lizard brain more than anything else, because the story and character writing is...insipid. it was very bizarre to witness this franchise blunder around with its animal-people racism allegory around the same time i was getting back into RWBY, and ITS animal-people racism allegory blunders. Awakening was the first time i felt anything for the franchise beyond “teehee red units disappear make exp bar go up and brain go ding,” so i’m excited for more mature storytelling in subsequent games (they MUST get better. they MUST). the child husbandry thing is...very bad tho, and Apotheosis being “challenging” entirely through the game changing all the rules is also bad.
once again no vidya games that came out this year--i’ll probably pick up Spiritfarer or Hades after the New Year, though (or maybe TLOU II! but probably not. sry Laura and Ashley). more TV and franchises this year, which made me feel In Touch with the Children but was also kinda exhausting. nothing was so egregiously terrible i dropped it without finishing! in a year like this that feels almost like an accomplishment

TS4 Werewolves - Rant Alert
I got this one comment that sent me off on a whole tangent, so I decided to reply to it separately.
slade-the-neko replied to your photoset “The Wolves:This world is slowing down How can I fight it? How can I?...”
Dang Murf, that's very impressive! Really makes me wish Sims 4 had werewolves. I'll definitely try porting the Skyrim model to TS4 if they ever add them.
Y’all know TS4 is my trigger -- wtF is EA even doing over there? That Tiny Living Stuff Pack was a JOKE, like....seriously? o_O For as much money as they’re swindling y’all for TS4, EA’s Sims team is creatively BANKRUPT. ZERO innovation, intuition or inspiration.
EA just takes popular concepts/crazes like the Tiny House Movement, Baby Yoda, and Harry Potter, and waters it down to the barest of minimums: tiny homes with huge AF Murphy beds instead of bunk beds or convertible futons/sofa-beds; a decorative Baby Yoda you can’t even interact with; no school of magic sims can go to (and no magic for kids YET). I’m so tired of them!
People keep comparing RoM to TS1′s Makin Magic, and I keep going WHERE? I said in my initial trailer reaction for RoM that it made zero frikkin sense for the RoM magic land to have that perma-nighttime full moon, without even bothering to have werewolves in the so-called realm of magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RoM would’ve been the PERFECT chance to add werewolves. What better way to have a magical pack than to also introduce werewolves as the local denizens of Glimmerbrook’s forests. Missed opportunity, EA. (-‸ლ)
Tumblr media
They could’ve added a werewolf household living in the woods, that your sim either befriends or gets bitten by, so your sim goes to the Magical Realm to either find a cure for lycanthropy (for the werewolves or for THEMSELVES if they’re bitten and are gonna turn in a couple days), or wolfsbane poisoning if one of the wolves is made sick by the brand new harvestable Wolfsbane *cough cough!* (Wolfsbane comes in the Vampires GP, but they could‘ve totally made more types of Wild Wolfsbane, Yellow Aconite, Purple Monkshood, etc.).
Tumblr media
Either one would give your sim a REAL impetus and incentive to go learn magic and talk to the RoM residents and mess with potions & alchermy. Which is another reason I said (I’ve BEEN saying) I wanted HEDGE WITCHES, who could do HERBOLOGY. U_U
Tumblr media
The RoM Game Pack NEEDED to be its own Expansion -- it wasn’t a realm at all; it was a Diagon Alley ripoff and everybody knew it. HELLO, EA! Part of worldbuilding is creating a EFFING STORY that gives your game a FRIKKIN PURPOSE. EA didn’t go the distance at all; they did the mere basics of adding magic to TS4, with a lot of style but not much substance. But ironically they did the same with the mermaids, which did get their own EP, and everyone agrees that TS4′s Island Living was worse than TS3′s Island Paradise, so wtf. (-‸ლ)
But I doubt werewolves would get their own Game Pack like the Vampires & Spellcasters -- EA would do Faeries/Elves before wolves, I suspect, cuz faeries are in a sense easier. Wings, mushrooms & flowers, glittery magic, LOTR-esque art nouveau inspired furniture, etc -- everyone knows the standard faery.
But if TS4 werewolves got a pack all to themselves it would force EA to effing give a crap about lycan culture & lore, and the complexities of things like pack dynamics (alphas, betas, omegas, etc), moon cycles, transformations, lupine physiology & locomotion; diet & hunting (adding new flora & fauna), etc.
Tumblr media
While heavy in gameplay expansion, with werewolf-specific abilities, interactions & animations, what other stuff could you stuff into a werewolf stuff pack? Y'all saw how in TS3 the Supernatural EP didn’t give wolves a single bloody thing other than their CAS stuff -- for build/buy mode wolves got ZILCH. We didn’t get busted furniture or shattered windows or blood splatters or more fur patterns -- NOTHING. Everything in build/buy mode was for witches & faeries--all wolves could do was tear the crap up with their claws.
And even their CAS stuff was lackluster - no hairy skins, makeup or tails, but we got body hair & face sliders, claws, fangs, etc.
I like TS1's werewolf design from Makin Magic the most, since their heads/skins looked like wolves.
Tumblr media
TS2′s was the biggest downgrade in terms of the LOOK of werewolves, in that it was just a skin.
Tumblr media
If EA does do wolves for TS4, I’d hope they make it so the werewolves look like effing WOLVES. At least let them turn into animals, like the ones in TS2 PETS. (WHY TF was TS2 the only time Sims had ACTUAL magical pets!? >_< TS3 has dogs! TS4 has dogs! DO IT ALREADY.)
youtube
Considering the cartoony PG13 angle EA insists on keeping TS4, I don’t imagine they’d EVER make wolves look like @camkitty2’s amazing werewolf mod at MTS:
Tumblr media
And certainly not the scary Skyrim werewolves that I converted.
Tumblr media
Or even the ones from EA’s other property, Dragon Age (which are effing ugly, IMO).
Tumblr media
(The ugly anthropomorphic bipedal version, btw, not the more wolf-like version.)
TBH, If TS4 did werewolves at all I BET YOU MONOPOLY MONEY the template EA’d use would be a lot like Bigby Wolf’s design from the Wolf Among Us video game:
Tumblr media
Bigby goes through 4 phases, from man to gradually being an actual wolf in his 4th phase/Final Form. His 3rd phase has a face that not really wolf-like so much as Jekyll/Hyde; beastly enough that you pretty much know Oh that’s a werewolf they’re doing, without it actually looking like any animal.
Tumblr media
It’s big and scary with muscles & claws & hair, but cartoony enough that it’s not drastically different from a regular sim. EA’s wack enough to pull something like that, rather than going the extra mile to give us the kind of Skyrim-esque werewolves many simmers want.
Tumblr media
Or the full-shift magical WOLF that I personally want.
Tumblr media
Don’t get me wrong; Bigby has a great design for Wolf Among Us, made by AA developers Telltale (who do The Walking Dead video games). But Electronic fArts is a AAA developer, with billion dollar budgets, massive teams & bookoo resources. But by god EA’s the laziest AAA company around; just the kind of twats to do AA level work with AAA finances, as we’ve seen in TS4 and TS3.
Bigby’s 2nd phase is basically what TS3 did for werewolves, with the scrunched up brow/nose, pointed ears, hairier face, etc.
Tumblr media
This kind of werewolf design is fine, but it leaves A LOT to be desired, especially if it’s the only form you see in certain werewolf franchises. It reminds me too much of how Teen Wolf makes werewolves -- basically as hairier vampires from Buffy (which makes sense). But come on EA, go the distance; go FULL WOLF SHIFT or go home.
Tumblr media
In Eastern Europe werewolves ARE vampires/witches -- they’re connected to nature magic, druids & wicca, neopaganism, etc: magic runes & symbols, stones & metals, scyring, bonfire festivals (having Celtic holidays would be so cool!), enchanted woods & nemetons & ley lines, the effect of moonlight on water #TuckEverlasting style, shamanistic sacred animal totemic power and such. Tap into that tribalistic Slavic, Norse & Celtic lore on werewolves, EA, you effing COWards!
Tumblr media
In TS1′s Makin Magic and TS3′s Supernatural, witches and werewolves came in the same pack, and had gameplay elements tied to each other -- in TS1 it’s the Beauty & the Beast charm that magical sims can use, and in TS3 werewolves can be used as witches’ assistants to Gather harvestables/collectables used in alchemy potions. So for TS4, having werewolves in RoM would’ve made SO MUCH sense. Hell, they could’ve fit into the Vampire GP, too -- why was wolfsbane even IN that pack? o_O
So if TS4 adds werewolves, I hope they add something NEW to the lifestate, and do more research into other portrayals & iterations of werewolves.
Tumblr media
Everyone knows about Norse Berserkers (were-bears), but less attention is given to the Wolves of Odin, the Ulfhednar/Ulfhedinn (werewolves). A lot of Nordic neopagans are into them nowadays.
Tumblr media
A werewolf GP would make it so EA would have to flesh out werewolves -- if they live in the woods, give them woodland build/buy mode CC. Let them live OFF THE GRID as technophobic naturists, cuz electronics like tvs, PCs & radios hurt their sensitive eyes & ears. They could be more modern, sure, but it would be so much cooler to have sims who only use well water and hot springs and compost toilets and woodfire ovens.
Tumblr media
Bring back hobbies/skills like bone/woodcarving, gem cutting, basket weaving & looms, soap/candle-making, pottery, horticulture, tree-cutting/tree-hugging, animal husbandry (could you imagine werewolf shepherds? XD), sparring, (arm) wrestling, boxing, hunting, bird watching and more. Basically: fullblown medieval-rustic hunting lodge aesthetics: animal pelts, antlers, mounted taxidermy, COME ON, EA, stop being boring!

Shuichi Saihara FTE - (Kaede #2)
Tumblr media
“You really want more of my backstory already? When we’re so close to me venting to you already? Well, if you insist...”
FTE #1 is here
Tumblr media
I actually would like to know more about his uncle, tbh! I don’t remember learning much about him the first time around unfortunately... and I bet he’s the one on Shuichi’s motive video, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.... For that matter I don’t think we hear about his aunt, either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently this is a Detective Conan reference? I don’t know Conan very well, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Hajime also shares the same VA so it’s definitely a reference they’ve made before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I REALLY WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS PART OF HIM
Like damn, I really thought that would be something that would come up! Unless that plays into how he immediately clings to someone who shows him positive affection? He obviously holds his uncle in high regard, so that would make sense...
Tumblr media
NO WE DIDN’T!!! NO KAEDE THIS IS ONE OF THE TIMES I WANT YOU TO BE PUSHY!!!
Damn it.
Tumblr media
We will literally get to that in the game can we please get a look at the Saihara family dynamic -
Tumblr media
Oh right, it wasn’t a murder case. That was the one that won him recognition, supposedly. This is his first big case in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again we see Kaede coming from a place of familiarity as she seeks to reach out to those around her and get to know them better. This, obviously, is going to be one of the relationships that go the best for her in her limited time here. 8′)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tracking people and things is his detective talent, not homicide. And he’s actually somewhat proud of it, considering how his reaction sprites have been! He’s still a bit embarrassed in his own pride, but he’s willing and openly sharing the story!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, she’s expecting some flashy cases.... which just isn’t Shuichi’s area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“That’s why he employs me! Providing room and board is much easier than paying a salary.”
Tumblr media
Honestly, I’m getting the feeling that it might be the area where he would be most comfortable. You can make people a lot happier that way, and not everyone has the stomach to deal with death. Shuichi was never able to stay calm when finding a body - he was a stark contrast to Kyouko in that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RIGHT.... I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can you imagine if the whole murder case he was accepted for hadn’t happened and he ended up being accepted into Hope’s Peak because he was able to track an alligator gggh -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like I was saying last time, huh.
Shuichi is just not built at all for the investigation-trial format the DR franchise thrives on, and it shows. If he had the chance to investigate and take the time across a few days to solve these things, I bet he would have come across a lot better than he ended up doing in the end. He needs that distance and the time to process the information he’s gathering, and he just never got it. He even ends up focusing on the minutia and following a single lead to the very end rather than looking at the larger picture (the obvious and most egregious example being trial 5, but there are elements of that in 6 as well when he starts picking apart Junko’s story, and Kokichi’s supposed involvement, piece by piece). He did start adapting to the speed which is why I think he was able to get as far as he did by the time Trial 6 rolled around, but compared to someone like Kyouko who seemed to understand these situations as a whole while simultaneously putting together the puzzle pieces to fill out the little gaps... it’s apples to oranges, or sprinters to marathon runners.

We are skipping over the fact that he not only found it but had to have it caught, so I’m choosing to imagine Shuichi wrestling a small alligator, leashing it, and then walking it to his grateful classmate.

Shuichi are you pulling a Kaito on me right now???

WAIT ARE YOU SAYING SHE DIDN’T PAY YOU THAT’S SOME STRAIGHT BS
Sweetcheeks please
Tumblr media
Ahem ahem the skills he put to use that are totally not fit for their current situation became the foundation to how he treated his detective work from this point on.....
This isn’t me dunking on him by the way - it’s an observation on why he, the Ultimate Detective, was in a position to ‘grow’ as the cases in the game went on, and why he had the weaknesses that he did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found him sweet then and I still find him sweet now....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s like.... you were written to be a detective.”
is that too on the nose -
Tumblr media
Considering his doubts about being a detective, hearing this probably meant a lot to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
..... Actually, this stands out to me too, because he wasn’t always the best at following up after trials with the others - mostly because you can’t follow up with the dead or even the culprits. But knowing that he learned this from his uncle, having Kaito follow up with him in the second chapter, and even afterwards, I can see that as being part of why Shuichi was so touched by Kaito’s actions and grew so close to him.
Tumblr media
Kaede reached out to Shuichi, Kaito reached out to Shuichi and Maki, etc....
So much of drv3 really did end up being about people’s relationships with each other in the game, huh.

THE RARE BLUSHING SWEETCHEEKS AGAIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
......
I loved this moment at the time I originally played it but now after playing the entire game I just hear, “And then Chapter 1 happened in my head -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He did try, despite everything. He did try to stick out being a detective.
And it was Kaede’s trust in him that did lead him to share the information about the mastermind’s door, which was still correct....
Was he able to feel real pride in being a detective after this on his own? I’m not sure that he was. He did need that external validation, and always had a small breakdown when he made a mistake in a trial - whenever he thought, ‘everyone thinks I’m a fraud’ that actually hurt a lot.
But at least in this moment, before everything went to hell.... it’s nice to think he felt something good about himself and his own worth.

Hey there ! Apparently you like video-games (or at least Smash), so what's your favourite one ?
Hookay, so… I know this is going to get long, so adding a Read More, but the short answer is: I don’t have a clear cut favorite, but some of my favorites include such well known properties as Mass Effect and lesser known ones like Sudeki. I’m not some gaming guru but I definitely have some Opinions™ about video games.
Favorite First Person Shooter: Halo: Reach. Generally, I don’t ask for much in my FPS; let me kill shit and the less I have to reload, the better. However, Halo: Reach, being at the time the 4th game in the franchise that served as the prequel to the entire series, provided an excellent story with great characters and an underlying message about the indomitable human soul.
Favorite Real Time Strategy: Halo Wars. Okay, yes, another entry from the same franchise, but!!! This one also has some fantastic characters and a great storyline, even if it’s… somewhat confusing when considering the bigger narrative (Halo in general is just messy af and retconned-but-not all to hell anyway). Still, it’s a fun, mostly intuitive RTS, which is notoriously difficult on consoles.
Favorite Horror Game: Resident Evil. Listen, this game came out when I was seven, and my Uncle let me play it to fuck with me. Nothing will be scary than those early PS1 graphics, the loading screen a constant tease of ‘what’s behind this door? Is it death? It’s probably death!’ that got me good. Fear Factor comes a close second, as though it wasn’t much of a horror game, the game mechanic of your character’s rising stress level kept me on the fucking edge.
Favorite Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy X. Listen. I don’t care how awkward Tidus’ laugh was. I don’t even mind how passive Yuna was. Blitzball was amazing and I have forgiven all sins. No, seriously, I loved the cast in FFX, much like other FF games, and Seymour was a villain I enjoyed hating with every fiber of my being, and even some of the mini games were fun, too. But Blitzball could’ve been a standalone game and I would’ve bought it. Still would.
Favorite JRPG: Sudeki. If you didn’t get a chance to play this on the original XBOX, you missed out. The characters were fun, if a bit goofy, and the high fantasy mixed with science fiction was a nice touch. What really sold me, though, was the AI. Not only could you switch between different available characters in the middle of a fight- very easily and very intuitively- but the AI actually behaved very well, saving my ass more than a time or two. In most games, AI are either cannon fodder, immortal, or require close attention/precise manipulation of their preset actions. Not in Sudeki; some fights, I could actually stand back and let my party do their work, and that was immensely gratifying. Yeah, the ending was a bit of a let down, but it didn’t erase how much fun I had with the rest of the game.
Favorite Super Smash Brothers: Super Smash Brothers Melee. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of the elements in the sequels but SSBM was the version I played most heavily with friends, so I have the most fond memories of it. Plus, it was before they changed Link’s moveset, which I’m still high key upset about. (I don’t like the new bombs or his new down attack.)
Favorite Series: Mass Effect. Now, one might expect Halo to be my favorite series, seeing as two of the games are some of my all time favorites, but… nah. When you take out the multiplayer element, the Halo games didn’t have much left. Yes, they had a galaxy spanning conflict with twists and turns but, honestly, Mass Effect did it better, with better world building and exploration, and a lot of interactive features that I enjoyed. From what I played of Andromeda, (long after it released, so no weird bugs yet), it continued to build on the foundation of the original trilogy, though I would’ve preferred to stay in the Milky Way, and Ryder can’t hold a candle to Shepard. Still, even what issues I have with the series (LET ME ROMANCE KROGANS, DAMNIT) don’t detract from the excellent story, fun gameplay, and intriguing mystery.
Favorite Elder Scrolls: … okay, I actually don’t like any of them, tbh. And??? I’m not sure why??? I actively can’t stand Skyrim.
Favorite Soulsborne: There is only Dark Souls, and it’s the pinnacle of ‘I don’t need my brain for this’ for me. It’s just… run around and kill things. Nothing matters. I think the main difference between this and Skyrim is the way the player character moves. ES games look so… silly. At least Dark Souls looks silly for a reason.
Favorite Sports Game: NCAA 2007. I’d rather play as a college team than a professional one. Although, NFL Blitz comes a very close second, purely because it gave no fucks and only barely qualifies as a sports game.
Favorite ‘Oh Fuck’ Game: It’s a tie between Minecraft and ARK: Survival Evolved. And you’re asking ‘how are those two in the same category’ and the answer is ‘because the only difference between the two for me is, which is going to kill me, lava or a raptor?’ and don’t ask how I die to these two things with equal frequency. More to the point, I usually play these games with friends, and thus my ‘oh fuck’ moments are witnessed by others, or I witness their ‘oh fuck’ moments. Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes they’re sad, but they leave an impact and, hey, that’s fucking impressive.
Favorite Pokemon Game: Blue Version. Yeah, it’s a bit of a cop out, but the original game I got back when Pokemon first came over to the States actually taught me a life lesson: that it is possible to play a game wrong, which is what I was doing. So, I started over, and I was much happier for it! No matter what features are added to the franchise, I don’t think I’ll ever gain such an important life lesson from one again, so it’s gonna stay at the top of the list.
Favorite Chill Game: Any Harvest Moon. Let me tend my farm. (I haven’t had a chance to play Stardew Valley, which is basically Harvest Moon but gay, so that’ll probably take the top spot once I get a chance to play it.)
Favorite Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Although there are some aspects of Majora’s Mask I liked better, OoT had fishing. Yes, that’s honestly my favorite part of the game. I love fishing in video games. Don’t judge me.
Favorite Team Game: Overwatch. Love the character designs and gameplay. Witch!Mercy still owns my soul.
Favorite Battle Royale: Apex Legends. For some reason, one of the few ‘competitive’ games that doesn’t spark my frustration when I lose. Dunno why, it’s just fun. Lightning rounds are great, too!
Favorite Hack-n-Slash: Brutal Legends. Heavy metal, axes, and guitars- everything from the aesthetic to the gameplay is fun and the story is interesting as well. The RTS portion can get a bit annoying but, other than that, no complaints here.
Favorite Fable: Fable III. I endorse any game that allows me to woo as many people as I can find who are attracted to me. Let me have as many spouses as I want, one in each city. I will marry half the kingdom, damnit, just watch me.
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I know I’m missing some but I’ve sunk perhaps hundreds of hours into the games listed, so, yeah.

* . time stands still , the way it did before.     it’s like i’m  s  l  e  e  p  w  a  l  k  i  n  g .
{ courtney eaton, twenty-four, agender, they/them } Have you seen JACK C. KENNEDY walking around?  Little do they know, they’re the child of LEON S. KENNEDY from RESIDENT EVIL, and they ARE AN ONLY CHILD.  I guess that explains why they’re so CRAFTY & RESOURCEFUL and ALOOF & SELF-SERVING.  They are a COLLEGE STUDENT.  — penned by eve.
FIRST THINGS FIRST.
Hey guys !! I’m EVE , twenty from the EST timezone ( pronouns are she/her ) and I have TWO kids to introduce to you guys - the first being Jackie here !! I’m a huge fan of video games hence why my first two children are from them - RE in particular is one of my favorites. It’s a popular franchise , but if you’re not too familiar with it do not fret because all you need to know about Jack , their dad , and the world they originate from will be in here. And I apologize profusely if this is too long because I . . . have a tendency to ramble so !! Let’s get on with it.
TWS : Mental illness / depression ( implied ) , mentions of bullying & death & violence
Tumblr media
I. THE PAST - DO YOU REMEMBER ??
You are born Jacqueline Cheri Kennedy , the first & only child of your father - Leon Scott , a lone survivor of the fallen Raccoon City - with no mother in the picture. Your father always wanted children , but his line of work is cruel to those who hold their loved ones dear , and originally the prospect was brushed off. But you are an accident - left on his doorstep - and the man who originally thought he’d never have children due to a fear of losing what he’s attached to . . . . he SOBS , holding your tiny body close and vowing that now , he has a new reason to live and not just survive.
So you grow. You grow fast , and as a child , you know a few truths - you like princesses & superheroes , and you are your papa’s little princess & your papa is your superhero. And you are treated the best you can - in the early years of your youth , you have to spend multiple week trips sleeping over at your Aunt Ashley’s before your father suddenly tells you ‘Daddy isn’t going to work anymore’ and he’s with you all day , every day , save except for school. You grow up with your father as your best friend and you know he loves you more than anything.
You are ten years old when you start to understand things - not ENOUGH , and not too much , but you can understand the fact that in a way , your beloved papa is sick. But it’s not the germy kind of sick - not the kind of sick that results in tummyaches or sniffles. No , it’s the kind of sick that you can tell his heart isn’t working - it’s broken , and you can tell his smile sometimes doesn’t reach his eyes and the weird stuff he drinks is to help with it - but he doesn’t want you to know he’s sick. He SMILES at you and plays with you and hugs you tightly and kisses your forehead and reads you bedtime stories and everything seems okay - but you know your superhero can’t fly as high as he used to , and you know he’s more sad than he lets on. But he does everything so he thinks you don’t catch on , and so you are happy even if he isn’t.
You are twelve years old when the big men in black jackets & bulletproof vests come knocking on your father’s door to beg him to come back to them , and he says hell no and there’s an argument you don’t listen to since FRANKLY , you’re busy pasting up posters of rock bands in your bedroom. You know your father doesn’t talk a lot about where he used to work or what he used to do - the only inkling you get is the next day , when you’re innocently helping your father find his unopened pack of plastic razors in his bedroom , and you open a drawer with a shiny badge that says ‘Raccoon City Police Department.’
You are fourteen when you first start finding your own voice - you are hardened from bullying that comes your way and you grow BLUNT & SARCASTIC and a lot of your father’s friends tell you that you’re just like him. This becomes a bit of a joke between the two of you - but it escalates further in school. They call you Jackboot since that’s a symbol of the opposite of what you stand for - you TALK BACK , you rebel , you aren’t afraid to show your poisoned tongue and it gets you in trouble. But you remain authentic - even if people don’t like you. But you’re still vulnerable - your first boyfriend breaks your heart and as you’re crying through screams & wails on your couch , your father gently hugs you close , rubbing your back and telling you you’re going to be okay. You are hardened , but you are not unbreakable.
You are fifteen when you finally realize why your father feels the way he does and why he quit his job , and why he’s so protective of you. You are innocently putting on makeup to get ready for homecoming when you hear gunshots coming from the living room. You pull out the shotgun your father keeps under his bed and when you head downstairs , your house is being broken into by MINDLESS DRONES OF THE UNDEAD and thank god you inherited your father’s accuracy , because you save one from biting your father’s cheek and then , he grabs you , and the two of you book it out of the area.
. . . Your father . . . was the only survivor of an outbreak - a bioterrorist attack - back in Raccon City. Your father was a cop for one day , and then worked as a government agent to quell parasitical outbreaks in Spain , and then the fall of Tall Oaks , and countless other machines. You learn the words Umbrella and C-Virus and T-Virus and thank GOD you are a fast learner since this is the reality of the life you’ll have to live in time. And your father holds you close and sobs and begs you to live your life the best you can , away from the shit he went through , but one evening is far too much - and you have already seen too much.
You still know the truth , though. You are still your papa’s little princess and he is your superhero - but your superhero earned his hero status at the price of his own happiness. And maybe you’re almost doomed to do the same.
You are sixteen when you’re ripped from everything. Sixteen when you lose sight and it’s all erased. And sixteen when your superhero fades from your existence and you remember nothing but normalcy - and maybe it’s for the better. Maybe it’s also for the worse.
II. THE PRESENT - WHO ARE YOU , YOURSELF ??
S’OKAY SO. I’m gonna try and highlight what Jack is like with and without memories - their personality honestly doesn’t change much aside from obvious Resident Evil stuff & their bond with their dad.
WITH MEMORIES : So to start , Jack is an extremely blunt individual - they have a tendency to be a little bitch-faced and kinda-sorta don’t show their emotions very well , but they’re also extremely honest and don’t lie at all. They DO have a sense of morals & take everything they learned from their dad to heart - especially given the fact that now they’re aware of everything he’s done and been through and that they’re gonna be going through the same thing. But they also carry around a Devil-may-care attitude , snarky & rebellious and honestly maybe a bit short-tempered. But they are smart. They are smart and they know it and thank god they know how to act quickly on their feet in bad situations - they’re just. Kind of a dick.
WITHOUT MEMORIES : So Jack wasn’t as nearly as close with their fake-life parents as they were their actual father , Leon , and that impacts them in the sense that they’re slightly more of a lone wolf than they were before losing their memories. They only remember rebelling against their parents & fighting with them whereas in real time . . . Jack & Leon never really argued. Jack never really disobeyed. But NOW they just remember always doing what the opposite of what their parents said and that sorta fuels their fire. And also , Jack isn’t haunted by what they’ve seen in terms of bioterrorism and viruses and all that , so that leaves them unaffected. They overall don’t change much , they’re just . . . them.
GENERAL FACTS ABOUT THEM AHEAD THAT REALLY DON’T CHANGE , BUT
Jack . . . is kind of. A philanderer aishufhasush like I will not lie to you they are an extreme flirt and honestly get around but will never commit due to the fact they fear strong attachments and what they mean so just. Apologies for that.
And when I say Jack is self-serving , I mean so in the sense that they only do things if the consequence benefits them or something they care for or someone they care about - like Jack will help their loved ones because they love their loved ones , but otherwise , they really just . . . want to only get involved if it physically , mentally , financially , socially , what have you benefits them.
They’re a DICK but they’re not like... an awful , awful person. They’re just sorta someone who mainly thinks of themselves and looks out for number one and those who PERTAIN to number one. It’s sorta better to show their character rather than like . . . tell , because they’re not the most nicey-nice OC but they’re like they’re dad - kind of grouchy & snarky sometimes but still with good intentions and not at all a bad person. Leon’s such a good character and Jack is both EXTREMELY like him and also. Not.
Also rly quick Jack’s pronouns are again they/them and they take both masculine and feminine titles if there isn’t a gender-neutral option available. Jack said fuck gender.
ANNEA-WAAAYYYY onto the next part -
III. THE FUTURE - WHO MAKES YOUR CIRCLE ??
Just ?? General WCs I guess ?? Idk I got no braincells when it comes to this shit but
I’m gonna get the begging for hookup & ex connections out of the way FIRST because Jack is honestly. Again. A philanderer. Definitely kinda like a fuckboy tbh ausydgygdyagysgds
ALSSOOOOOO I’d love 2 see ppl that Jack just frequently butts heads with ?? Again they are kinda fighty so I’d love to see some enemies around
They don’t have a lot of friends so a few friends would be nice - but only a FEW close friends bc again Jack doesn’t rly open up , they keep their cards to their chest while simultaneously being an open book and it’s Confusing
may b a longshot but . . . o-other . . . Resident Evil kids ?? Please ?? Baby Redfields ?? Please ??
IDK LIKE I’LL RLY TAKE ANYTHING BUT. that’s it for now if i do ciel’s intro tonight i will be genuinely shocked bc i’m EXHAUSTED bt yeah !! here’s jack !!

Where was the last place you drove to? Other than home, I drove to Bonifacio Global City with Gab for a day out. I also drove to her dorm to drop her off after. What is your favorite move franchise? The Twilight Saga or Toy Story. What was the last fast food you ate? We had Wendy’s earlier. I was honestly kinda relieved to just have fast food for lunch because I just needed something greasy as fuck to shed off the hangover from last night, and something quick because I was so tired and was in no mood to even go out to begin with. What is your zodiac sign? Taurus. Do you think you're a good dancer? When I’m drunk enough and when it’s dark, yeah. Hahaha
What is the saddest book you've ever read? I don’t know if I’ve read any sad fiction; AJ’s memoir was sad enough though. I remember having to take breaks every so often because some of the content was just too heavy to take in one go. How old will you be this time next year? I will be 22. What subject do you think you are best at? History. I have a number of relatives who have worked/are working as researchers and historians, so I’m not surprised I got bitten by the bug too. Do you prefer heroes or villains? Heroes, unless the villain’s story is endearing or if the role is played good enough. That’s the case with a number of heels (wrestling talk for bad guys) who are AMAZING at being assholes, like CM Punk or Triple H. What is something you think is overrated? I love milk tea, but it’s definitely hyped up way too much in the Philippines. A lot of people like to brag how they skip water in favor of milk tea and it’s just? what? How are you genuinely proud of that? I mean whatever floats your boat and all, but still????? What political cause are you most passionate about? The SOGIE/anti-discrimination bill that for some reason is being debated on to begin with. How anti-discrimination is still a cause of conflict is the most Filipino thing I’ve ever seen and it’s shameful. What country would you most like to visit? Morocco, Turkey, or India. What is the worst job you've ever had? I haven’t had any so there’s nothing to rank. Who was your best friend as a child? We would change sections every year so my best friends used to change often. There was Kaye, Jaynie, Raegan...but it was Angela for most of my childhood. What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do? Having to keep going when my grandfather died mere days before the UPCAT. That, or seeing Nacho in his coffin. His slight smirk made it easier to deal with, but I still had a good cry about it. Have you ever considered having children? Yeah, I’ve thought about it more and more as I got older - a far cry from my hatred of kids when I was a frustrated 13 year old lmao. If you ever took field trips as a child, which was your favorite? I’ve always been a museum lover so our field trip to Intramuros/various Manila museums in 5th grade, and our field trip to Ayala Museum/The Mind Museum in freshman year were amazing. Do you have any weird family traditions? Not really. I will say that my mom’s side has a very weird, very distinct humor that takes some getting used to (but once you do you’ll realize they’re all funny as fuuuuuuck on that side) but it doesn’t really count as tradition, so idk. Have you ever considered acting? Not at all. I never liked having to do it. Who was the last person you slept next to? Gab. Do you think you can be in love and still cheat on your S.O.? That’s messed up, dude. Do you subscribe to any streaming services? I have a Netflix and Spotify but other people pay for them. Do you consider yourself a crafty person? That’s a big fat nope for me. What is your ideal weather? Cold enough that I don’t need to turn on the electric fan. If there’s a thunderstorm, even better. Have you ever been in a physical fight? With my cousins when we were kids, yes.  What is the most embarrassing thing anyone has on video of you? Angela has questionable footage of me when I got too drunk at Gabie’s party last year; she’s tried showing it to me but I’ve always refused to know what she caught on video lmao. She can keep it if she wants; I just don’t ever want to see it hahaha. Gab also took a video and photos of me all hunched at the toilet and throwing up after drinking too much from earlier this year.
I’m clearly not the best drunk; in the same way, my best friends clearly know their priorities lol. Did you ever get lost as a child? No. If I got ‘lost’ it was only because my parents would intentionally hide from me at malls to see what I would do when I realized I was lost/to mess with me. What is your favorite condiment? Mayonnaaaaaaise. On a scale of 1-10, how attractive do you think you are? I’d give myself an 8 tbh. Minus two points for my two crooked teeth and frizzy hair. Do you prefer horror or romance movies? When it comes down to it, romance. I feel like they have more leeway since romantic comedies (which if you still don’t know by now, is my favorite genre) is under that genre, whereas horror can be just right or way too corny or cheap for my liking. What was the last film you saw in theaters? Hello, Love, Goodbye last August(?). But I think that’ll change soon because I plan to see Charlie’s Angels this month - and can I just say, only for Kristen lol.
Have you ever been to a concert? Sure, I’ve been to several, but I keep my ticket purchases to artists I have REALLY been wanting to see, like One Direction and Paramore. There’s a bunch of acts who’ve gone to Manila but I wasn’t religiously obsessed enough to want to see them, like Troye Sivan, The 1975, The Japanese House, etc. Have you ever had an existential crisis? No. I try not to think about that stuff. Where is the farthest from home you've traveled? Bali. Do you like country music? Ugh, no. Can you play any instruments? Other than the basic recorder, which I don’t really count, no. What color are your eyes? Black. What color are the eyes of the person you love? The same. What is your favorite kind of flower? Idk I don’t have one. Baby’s breaths are cute though. Have you ever had your heart broken before? For various reasons, yes. What town were you born in? I was born in, if I’m not mistaken, the district of Sta. Mesa in Manila. Do you believe you had a good childhood? I know my elders tried to shield me from harsher realities, and I’ll give them credit for that. I had the latest toys and gadgets and we had cable TV, so I had access to the cool shows of the time, to give a few examples. I’m grateful for all of those, but nothing could ever protect us from acknowledging the reality that I had alcoholic relatives who also happened to wake me up everyday with the smell of their cigarette smoke; and relatives who would resort to physical fights and screaming whenever they got too drunk, which always made our house a hot topic within the small neighborhood and a source of embarrassment for me, my siblings, and cousins. What was the last dream you had? I’m not sure. I think I was just hanging out with Gab in it. Do you know how to play any card games? Other than solitaire, no. Have you ever taken a taxi before? Yep but I can count those times on one hand. I’d rather use a ride-sharing app to get a driver than hail a Filipino taxi driver. What is something about your childhood that you miss? Half-days in school. What are you currently most looking forward to? Sleeping tonight, tbh. I want to stay up for a bit but I can’t wait to sleep too. Did you ever have MySpace? Do you miss those days? I had, very briefly. It was never a big trend in the Philippines so I didn’t see the big deal. I was more attached to Friendster (which I never got to have because of the 16-year-old signup requirement, which my parents made sure I followed) and Multiply. What is the best television show you've ever watched? Breaking Bad. Are there any songs you can't listen to because they bring back memories? I can’t listen to O by Coldplay anymore because it was the song I kept on repeat when I repeatedly harmed, starved, and tried to kill myself a couple of years ago. Have you ever saved someone's life? I hope I have in some form or another. I know I failed with Nach, though. Do you tend to sleep well at night? Sure, unless I had reason not to. What do you believe is your weirdest habit? I lock my car doors three times before I feel comfortable. When was the last time you were sick? This question is on almost every survey, along with the what-instruments-do-you-play one. Uhhhhhh 2017. What color are your parents' eyes? Black. Do you have any credit cards? I don’t. Have you ever broken any major bones? Nope, thank goodness. Have you ever had a surgery before? ^ Same. Are you ever afraid people will just stop talking to you one day? I never thought about that, no. Can you tell me the last deep thought you had? Meh, it’s too triggering to go back to at the moment. Are there any websites you've used for over 10 years? Twitter, Wikipedia, and YouTube, for sure. Do you have any siblings? If so, what are their ages? Yeah, they’re 19 and 16. What is the best movie you've seen this year? Liway. Did you ever make straight a's in school? Sure. What color is the shirt you are currently wearing? White, with maroon text.

*flops down on sofa*
*exhales*
Tumblr gives me a lot of wild shit every now and again. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's hilarious, sometimes it's disheartening. And then yesterday came along and gave me the one-two punch of:
Captain Marvel being dolled up by the Russos instead of a jacket, S.H.I.E.L.D baseball cap and a Nine Inch Nails shirt, which is how she should be (not gonna talk about this, just want it out there that I'm pissed about it)
One Day At A Time being cancelled
ODAAT I'm gonna kind of touch on because it's not really what I want to talk about, but it did help me finalize the words for what I do, and that's capitalism in entertainment.
The most annoying goddamn trend in filmmaking (and of course in TV and Netflix/Prime originals) is companies caring more about their bottom line and less about making good content, and yeah I know this dead horse isn't just beaten, it's thrown into an active supervolcano but it really pisses me off and it's why I hate the new Star Wars stuff (well OK hate is a bit strong but they're uh Not Good) but I'll get to that. What corpos can't seem to get into their bloated skulls is that one cannot exist without the other. You need to put out good, quality content with value so that fans like it so they give you money so they increase your profits so you can make more content and so on. But somewhere down the line some fuckhead went "what if we just pushed out what we have?" and just kinda expected us to not take notice.
Now before the comments section gets all hot and bothered because I know some people on this site don't have the gift of reading comprehension, I know profits are important, I'm saying when companies shun good filmmaking for more money, they get lazy and all they can think about is profit and not how they make that profit, they don't care at all about using that money to make more good, valuable content.
One Day At A Time
I've never watched One Day At A Time but the fact Netflix just outright cancelled it knowing damn well what it meant to the people the characters are representing is just disgusting. And they have the fucking audacity to blame it on the viewership? I've seen hundreds of artworks, gifs and a video clip here and there of this show. I've seen precisely one (1) meme of 13 Reasons Why and that is literally it. I'm not following the tags for either. Plus, #saveODAAT has, last I checked, 350k tweets on trending or thereabouts?
So obviously the viewership isn't the problem, it's the racism and homophobia of cancelling a Spanish (? - again, never seen it), LGBT+ focused show that a lot of people quite happily and positively connect with when a crap show about suicide and Friends gets to stay on. It's just ugh. Cancelling a show like this then paying something like $100mil to keep Friends. I was going to expand on the shitty capitalism here but tbh that's it, Netflix are making bad decisions and like I say, I'm only going to touch on it because it's not the main part.
Star Wars
Go watch the original trilogy and it's clear George Lucas was trying to create and do. He was trying to make art. The key difference between that and modern SW to me is BB8. Look at C3PO and R2D2 and already you can see they belong. C3PO is a translator droid and I'm not sure what exactly R2's job description is but it's obvious he does some kind of pilot assistance for X-Wing fighters. I never understood people who said R2 never did anything, because they obviously haven't seen Star Wars. You get that this is an R2 unit, right? Like, there's more than one out there and they have a job they were specifically built to do, it's just this one particular R2 unit who had to carry the message? Anyway, I'm derailing. R2 and C3PO have functions and they're clearly not new, they've been used for a long time. Then you look at BB8 and instantly it's like "this is a toy. This so called character was designed to sell toys". And then he was. He's a toy, he's on bags, notebooks, pens, clothes, everywhere. Disney is less concerned about making a Star Wars movie and more about making money off of the Star Wars name.
Into The Spider-Verse VS YA Movies
YA movies tend to suck because they were adapted from books and we all know how that pans out but the reason I'm using YA books specifically is because my mind jumped to The Hunger Games. I couldn't tell you a single fucking thing that happens in those movies. They're so dull and dead and forgettable and the characters are borderline unlikeable but you know which one I do like? Catching Fire, for one reason and one reason only: Jena Malone as Joanna Mason. Save for Haymitch, she's the only character I liked because those two are the only characters with any kind of charisma or life to them. They made an at most halfway decent attempt overall at recreating some otherwise really great books and they made a big show out of it, hiring some pretty well known names. And I'm not disparaging their performances, it was just what I call, ever since Suicide Squad came out, the Harley Quinn effect, in which good actors get given a good character and perform them really well and, through no fault of their own, fuck it up because the character was written poorly and no matter how well they act, if the script doesn't change, the performance will always be shit. The same for Divergent. And Percy Jackson. And Fault In Our Stars.
Then outside all of that you have Perks Of Being A Wallflower which is just a great, heartwarming movie because the characters feel like people and the brightness isn't turned way the fuck down in post and you actually want to be invested, and they're not afraid to have a colour palette beyond a splash of pink here and blue there and red there. Plus, Ant-Man as an English teacher. THEN you go watch Spider-Verse and oh hey. I can actually see the movie now. And I mean see it. They do not slack off when it comes to visuals. Even by animation's standards, everyone is so expressive and alive and... animated. Sorry, I couldn't get a better word but they are! When you look at Miles in comparison to Katniss in terms of writing and performance, the difference is just startling. The only times I can think of where Katniss shows any kind of emotion in the first movie is when she slams the knife in the table and Rue's funeral and I had to think about that. Without thinking for Miles, already I've got "who's Morales?", the scene where Uncle Aaron teaches him the shoulder touch, the scene where Miles spray paints in the subway, that scene in the alley, the moment in Olivia's office when he just freezes after she says she can't wait to watch Peter in immense pain Like That and made all the wlws melt in their seats. You get the idea. So what's the point for this section? Well, as simply as I can put it, Hunger Games was made with money, for money. Spiderverse was made with love, for love. Spiderverse cared about people who read comic books and paid more than enough tribute to the art forms people think of as lesser for no goddamn reason other than elitism and proved for the thousandth time that it is something that can be used in filmmaking. They were trying to make art. Hunger Games and most other YA novel movie adaptations saw a preestablished fan base they could exploit for money. They were trying to make money.
Rambo
This was a weird one, yeah. Don't worry I was confused too when it popped into my head. I saw the original Rambo a while back and what I liked about it (and Apocalypse Now) is it wasn't a war film where the USA charge in and hooray everything's all right, this movie grabs your shirt and says "hey. Vietnam did something to these guys and they're not OK. Probably they'll never be OK". Then I watched the Rambo reboot that came out in like 2011 or something and I remember thinking "OK so now he's just this dude? Who lives in Thailand... And what, that's it?" There was no scene to show his psychological state today. Nothing to acknowledge his PTSD. They just thought "hey! Let's make Rambo but this time, just give him guns and and yelling and spray some blood!" The reason I kind of ended this train of thought quickly is because I realised that, let's be real, the main body of Rambo's audience just want to see Sly Stallone kill some fools. But yeah, the fact that they just ignored John's mental state in place of mega violence is such a glaringly obvious move to just appeal to violent teenage boys.
The Auteur
My favourite director is Wes Anderson and my favourite movie is The Grand Budapest Hotel (though Panos Cosmatos seems to be eyeing these titles with Beyond The Black Rainbow and Mandy, I haven't watched them yet). Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee, Wes Anderson, auteurs always stand out even though their movies are all the same, and I think the reason they're so successful is because that specific style is so much better than most other mainstream cinema. I'm not saying that those other movies are bad, I love them and will watch them again and again but I'm saying Wes Anderson could make a short movie and it would be better than most Marvel movies put together (don't talk to me about Captain Marvel, I haven't seen it yet. Gonna see it this Sunday). No matter what you think of these directors, you can instantly tell the difference between these movies that they care about and the passion and hard work they put in and Disney pumping out their 400th reboot.
It Keeps Working
You guys wanna know the thought that keeps me up at night? Someday they're going to make a Fortnite movie. You guys wanna know why it keeps me up at night? Because it's going to be popular. Yeah, obviously not at the box office, because it'll be a videogame movie and those are worse than book movies, but it will be popular for no apparent reason. And what pisses me off is that Fortnite's popularity is only because of the battle royale mode, which has now essentially become synonymous with dying franchises and it just adds another layer to the lack of creative effort and the movie will just be Hunger Games with guns. Exactly the same as what I said at the start of this rant, there's a really noticeable shift from making content to jumping on whatever bandwagon is passing by because you know it'll make you money. Yeah, you have to spend money to make money but that doesn't mean you get complacent in what you spend your money on or if you spend money at all because when you cut corners, consumers can see that shit.
Anyway I'm done complaining thanks for having the willpower to pay attention to my dumb opinions.

so that walking dead game finale huh
I really liked this episode! I think it worked very well as a finale to Clem’s story and thank god we got to see it instead of just ending on a cliffhanger back in episode 2. Thanks Skybound for my life
My main save is one where I spared Lilly and romanced/saved Violet. So the final scene with Lilly on the boat was kind of funny -- I left her feeling “shamed” but did not kill her. I thought it was funny that I was only able to get through to her, a little bit, THEN, despite my ebst efforts in all previous episodes lmao. Oh well. Lilly surviving this entire franchise is hilarious, good for her.jpeg. I’m sad I never got to tell her that I killed Kenny :( She should know.
The conflict with AJ and the Big Choice of the ep was good, I thought. Having since replayed, it works way better if you spared Lilly -- it’s waaay harder for me to want to ‘trust’ AJ when he’s gone on a rant about how killing her felt good, but in my main/real save, after having seen walker James, I thought he tbh had good points about Clem’s hypocrisy and how sometimes you need to make hard choices. It honestly even lined up with how I’d been playing Clementine, which was not cruel but was pretty firm too. I was conflicted (which tbh I always appreciate in these dramatic choice games), but chose to trust him and it paid off, since I was very relieved Violet didn’t die. Sorry, Tenn, but jeeze.
(I’ve since played the iteration with James, and didn’t like it nearly as much, since it made AJ seem way more unstable and untrusthworthy but also made me hate James loool get outta here.)
I spent the whole season pretty sure they’d at least have a branch where Clem survived, and when she got bit I was immediately like “chop it! chop it!”, but they still Got Me. I spent her “death” scene half horrified by what was happening and half kind of annoyed it was such an obvious riff on Lee’s death. In retrospect, it didn’t need to have the same level of impact because it wasn’t her actual death. I was emotional during the ranch scene, even though I think it could probably have used a bit more fleshing out or something -- it was so short? and didn’t teach me that much about Clem or AJ imo -- because I was like MY LAST TIME PLAYING CLEMENTINE AND SHE’S DEAAAD 😭 and then the fuckin hat in the river ahHHHHHHH. (Clem losing the hat in the opening sequence made me think of Hedwig dying at the start of Deathly Hallows, lol.)
I guess I don’t really have that much to say about it, other than that I liked it and I found it a satisfying ending to the season and to the series. Knowing it was the last ep meant my heart was pounding the entire episode and I cried, like, four separate times -- twice when Clem was dying/dead (I specifically remember crying when “Take Us Back” started), once when she was alive (literally the first shot of her on crutches and I sobbed lmao), and then again when the game ended. Also, hats off to whoever had the genius idea for one final “Clementine will remember that” 😭😭😭😭😭
A farewell to a character and a franchise that I’ve loved a lot for a number of years, and also a little bit to Telltale, I guess, which has been technically gone for a while now but this was the last episode in that vein. This season had some flaws just like the seasons before it, but I think season 4 has been the best since season 1 and overall this franchise is one of my favourites ever. Playing the first season of TWDG in 2013 is what got me back into video games for the first time since my PS1. What would I even be posting about on this dumb website if not for that.

endless summer mc maybe?
dAMN u got on this quick thank u and sorry i couldn’t respond sooner i was busy being a good student for once in my life
endless summer mc: emmett mackay
how tall are they?
emmett is 5′10″ and he never lets jake forget it ahskshs. “what’s the weather like down there, shortstack? i can’t hear you from all the way up here” and he only stops when sean and craig silently stand either side of him. and then he sulks until he gets a kiss from sean f
how do they tend to dress?
he has a very casual style imo! my favourite in-game outfit for him was the blue plaid outfit n like. i just imagine lots of jeans + t shirts, he likes a lot of things from thrift stores and interesting accessory pieces like bright belts or funky coloured socks
do they like how they look?
yes lmao he’s hot and he knows it. he and michelle bond over this
are they an only child or do they have any siblings?
w. Well. You See.
IF outside the context of endless summer i would imagine him being an only child still tbh but he considers diego his brother because they’re that close
are they a morning person or night owl?
an ABNORMALLY annoying morning person lmao he LOVES being awake to watch the sunrise and i like to believe in literally any au where emmett is not actually a piece of vaanu, he and sean buy a house on the beach where they can sit on their back porch or deck or patio or whatever and watch the sun rise and then watch it set again at the end of the day!
are they a cat person or a dog person?
dog person! especially if they’re BIG dogs. the bigger and fluffier the better.
got any favourite foods?
he really likes stuff that reminds him of home! this stuff is hard to think about for emmett since he technically doesn’t have like. a family or any kind of backstory but i like to think it’s influenced by diego and the meals he would have had growing up which is. vague but yeah.
how about favourite drinks?
LOVES water. fucking inhales it like it’s air. this is me projecting but he drinks obnoxiously loud from water bottles because he’s trying to swallow the water faster than the bottle’s nozzle will let it come out. everyone in the endless summer gang is fucking terrified of him for the rate at which he consumes water.
what are their favourite movies/tv shows?
he’d love the crown & the flame but i think that would be a really like? one-off choice for him. i definitely think he likes a lot of the same movies as diego, especially star wars and the alien franchises. he’s terrible with horror movies (same as diego) and in terms of tv shows he likes sort of light-hearted comedies!
do they have any hidden talents?
he’s double jointed at the elbow in one of his arms but it’s not so hidden anymore because craig was annoying him by rough-housing with him so he twisted his arm but then felt guilty because craig started crying shslkshs
do they believe in love at first sight?
yes! he’s a huge romantic and he likes to joke with sean that he fell in love with him BEFORE first sight since he first saw him in his dreams.
who is their love interest?
sean gayle! he flirted with jake a little in book 1 because he liked his bad-boy persona, but the more time they spent together the more he realized that he and jake would never be able to mesh beyond being just friends because their views on life are just too dissimilar to work in a relationship.
what are they afraid of?
he really hates spiders and centipedes and most creepy-crawlies in general, and he has a lot of metaphysical fears like dying alone, hurting his friends/being hurt by his friends u know. the usual.
what are their guilty pleasures?
absolutely 100% watches shitty reality tv dating shows like love island & the bachelor/ette. absolutely does so with popcorn and phone in hand to complain to diego, sean, and michelle who watches with him ahsksj.
what was their dream job as a kid? is it still their dream?
obviously he was never actually a child but outside of endless summer context he wanted to be indiana jones because he thought harrison ford was hot in those movies ahskshs. clearly he achieved it a little with the adventurer outfit from endless summer.
have they ever broken a bone?
nope!
have they ever been in trouble with the law?
he didn’t have the opportunity to be in trouble with the law aahskjs but even if he had, he wouldn’t have because he’s a bit of a goody two-shoes ;;
+ three other random facts about them!
his favourite colour is amaranth pink, his favourite video game is the up ps2 game which he and diego stayed up for 48 hours to clock together aaaand he’s really good at braiding hair so he helps michelle, quinn and estela braid their hair every night before they sleep so that it doesn’t get tangled!
ask me about my choices mcs!
