dating when you're a shonen character must be so hard because all of your formative experiences are so tied into what happened when you and your friends had the Big Plot Events going on. how would you even comprehend sharing that with someone outside of your circle

Milestone Masterlist
Tumblr media
I want to thank everyone who participated in my second Milestone Writing Challenge! I had so much fun reading all those stories and I'm more than happy to share them with everyone else.
Fics marked with * contain smut, so minors DNI!
Spencer Reid x Reader
The Mother Wound by @imagining-in-the-margins
Prompt: Nobody said healing would be easy but they had no idea it would be this hard
Summary: Spencer and Reader bond over having emotionally absent mothers
The image of them as children making it through the dark is very touching. It's a beautifully written, bittersweet story with the ability to bring hope to those who need it.
Crazy Ex by @c-m-stuff
Prompt: Person A needs to find B before it’s too late
Summary: You and Spencer are together. When you found strange pictures of the two of you, you knew, this wasn't good
This story depicts the emotions of Spencer's girlfriend really well. I also love the team dynamics, everyone is trying to do their best despite being terrified of losing Spencer.
Rumoured Nights * by @fortheloveofwonderland
Prompt: Someone has to unexpectedly share a hotel room with their favorite coworker - who apparently really likes to cuddle
Summary: A case in a small town in Alaska forces you and your favourite coworker into sharing a room and a bed. And according to Morgan, Spencer likes to cuddle.
This fic has everything I want for a prompt like this - mutual pining, a bit of awkwardness, everyone knowing except for them and then finally them acting on their desires. I also love the team dynamics you added to the story!
Tumblr media
Emily Prentiss x Reader
Dar+ling by @leahseclipse
What a cute story! I really like how comfortable they are with each other. Even though Emily usually is more hesitant to show her feelings, she clearly feels safe around Reader here
Prompt: Person A finally confesses their feelings for B, who has wanted to do just the same for weeks
Summary: Emily finally gets the courage to confess their feelings to the reader, who has just wanted to do it too for a while
Emily Prentiss x Jennifer Jareau
The Way You Felt by @andiebeaword
What a wonderful story! I really like the way you describe their relationship without trying to sugarcoat it. I have a similar view on Jemily - they just weren't meant to have a happy end.
Prompt: Even though their love seemed to never be enough, Person A and B can't let go of each other
Summary: While on a flight to help Spencer, exes J.J. and Emily ultimately come to terms with their buried feelings
Emily Prentiss x Aaron Hotchner
Dance With Me by @pandorasdreamings
I really appreciate it when Emily's complex backstory is mentioned in fics. She is such an interesting person to explore further, especially in the context of her relationships with other characters.
Prompt: Person A thinks they are not worth being taken care of. Person B proves the opposite
Summary: Emily is trying to move on and be happy, but her past keeps creeping up on her. Maybe the solution to her sadness has been in front of her the whole time
Tumblr media
Aaron Hotchner x Reader
4 AM by @hotchs-bitch
I absolutely love the softness and delicacy of this story. We rarely see Aaron's vulnerable side and you did a perfect job showing us just that in such a sweet way.
Prompt: Person A didn't know where else to go in a time of need, so they ring B's doorbell
Summary: When Aaron's marriage crumbles and he finds himself alone, there's only one person he wants to turn to
Aaron Hotchner x Haley Hotchner
Question of Timing * by @codename-mom
I always thought Hotch and Haley's relationship is very interesting but I never really considered what it would be like from her perspective. It's nice to get some variety!
Prompt: The couple decides to expand their family
Summary: Aaron finally agreed to make Haley a mother and she realised that the d-day is now. The issue is: how to convinced a husband afraid AF to be a father to do the last step?
Aaron Hotchner x Derek Morgan
Drown in my Dreams by @masterwords
I was genuinely moved by your story and your writing style. The way you show how vulnerable both men are in a difficult situation like that is very touching.
Prompt: Person A has never shown any weakness until they can’t hold back their tears anymore. Person B is there to wipe them away
Summary: After dealing with Mr. Scratch, Derek just wants to put Hotch on his bike and get the hell out of town. So he does
Aaron Hotchner & Penelope Garcia
Nocturnal Wandering by @codename-mom
I like the way you described the dynamics between Hotch and Garcia. I always thought that their friendship was really special (and very underrated).
Prompt: Person A has never shown any weakness until they can’t hold back their tears anymore. Person B is there to wipe them away
Summary: Garcia was about to leave the sixth floor of Quantico, late at night, when she discovered that someone else was still there. Someone who was not into a good mood and clearly need some help.

Please make sure to like and reblog these fics to show all those lovely writers some love!

@alycat76: What’s the platonic a/b/o one about?
Okay, this is immediately going under a readmore, because I know plenty of people hate the very concept of A/B/O, and I don’t want to make them uncomfortable.
.
SO! I have recently discovered that purely platonic A/B/O stories are actually something I kinda love. It’s about what it does to the setting, and the inter-character dynamics, and the incredibly intense hurt-comfort sickfics you can get out of it, and also I’m a sucker for empathetic bonds in fiction (people really don’t do enough with them.)
But there were some tropes that got repeated over & over again, while others I’d be interested in seeing just… never came up at all? And in the process of me spitballing what those fics would look like, I accidentally tripped and made a whole cohesive AU. Oops.
(Also, I saw like one person say, “What if betas could cancel out other smells as well as control their own,” in an ask somewhere, and proceeded to come up with a whole… thing that lets betas get in on all the sickfic & presentation fun that comes with this AU. It may or may not take up a full page of my notes. If anyone wants the specifics, just ask and I’ll post them.)
Anyway, the main pillars that this AU is built on are:
1. There are several fics where baby!Jay finds Robin in heat, knows full well how incredibly dangerous that is, and risks his own skin to hide Robin until either the heat passes or (most often) until Batman shows up. I love all of these. You know what I haven’t seen even once? Baby!Jason saving Dick Grayson in basically that same situation.
2. There are not enough fics where Bruce is a beta who uses his scent-control abilities to further separate his identities! *shoves my “Batman is just as much a public performance as Brucie Wayne” agenda into the very meta of this AU*
3. I am very fond of the “Jason’s big comeback plan goes completely off the rails” trope, especially when it comes in the form of needing to save a member of his family. I’ve seen a couple A/B/O fics with this premise with Tim. I have not seen any with Dick.
(Oh look, mirroring!)
4. It is here I realized why rut/heat-sickfics immediately became my drug of choice, and hey, if I’m gonna be projecting I might as well go all the way with it. *hands Dick a small mountain of medical complications on top of everything else*
5. My love of deceptive appearances (and the fact I have only found one (1) alpha!RH!Jason fic where I actually liked his part of it) means I am always going to default to omega!Jason.
6. So have you considered: Pack Alpha (by default) Tim? Oh, Bruce is still the Head of the pack, Tim doesn’t get to be automatically in charge or anything. But being the Pack Alpha comes with a whole host of extra instincts, which is only complicated further by the fact that as far as the rest of Gotham is concerned, when Tim first took on that role he wasn’t connected to the Wayne pack at all.
7. Hey, what do you think this particular arrangement does to Damian’s relationships with the family? Especially if we assume that, say, Talia refused to tell Damian their designations because it would be incredibly foolish to get a bunch of preconceived notions about the Bats just because of their secondary genders.
Things spiraled from there. I have, like, 10 drafts of both of those “Jason rescues Dick” fics, a whole bunch of fallout from Dick finding out Jason’s the Red Hood (some humorous, some not very much not,) Damian having a real rough time of it at the manor…
Here are my favorite story beats.
.
Dick actually initially rescued himself from the kidnappers, but then he was barefoot in Crime Alley with a chemical heat coming on fast while they looked for him. Dick yanks Jason down into his hiding space behind a dumpster before the kidnappers see Jason. Once the kidnappers leave, Jason offers to let Dick hide with him until the heat passes. Jason’s squat even has running water, even though it’s cloudy & cold.
Jason at some point says something about wishing he could make the nest better for Dick (who is obviously used to nicer things, but trying to make the best out of it,) which is when Dick remembers the emergency cash sewn into his clothes (Bruce is paranoid enough and you know it,) and gives it to Jason to go get whatever he thinks would be best.
While Jason is at the store, he sees the news about Dick Grayson being missing, an obviously distraught Bruce Wayne pleading for anyone to call with information. Jason remembers how Dick kept saying that his dad would be so worried. Jason remembers what it was like to sit up at night, wondering when or if his mom was coming home. Jason takes a few coins of his change to a pay phone to call the number, just to reassure Bruce that Dick’s safe.
Jason definitely panics when Batman kicks the door in that night, because as far as Jason’s concerned a very large, angry alpha just barged in on the omega Jason was trying to help (Dick even used the stupid Batman print towel Jason bought for him as the base of the nest, how is this fair?) Bruce sees a frightened, packless child ready to throw hands with the fucking Batman in order to keep Dick safe. Dick refuses to leave without Jason, because Dick’s already adopted him.
-
All of Gotham knows Jason was more Dick’s puppy than Bruce’s. Bruce is still the one who legally adopts Jason, since Dick is like, 16 at this point (Jason’s 10-11).
There’s a lot of whispering about why Dick completely disappeared from the public eye after Jason died. Dick so obviously adored the kid, and the few pictures people do get look so miserable, that most Gothamites get aggressively offended on Dick’s behalf if you try to suggest he had anything to do with it. He’s not even 20 and he’s grieving. Cut the boy some slack.
-
At some point after Tim becomes Robin, Dick needs to make a scene so he has an excuse to leave a party. After a quick check in to make sure Tim’s okay with it, a very drunk Richard Grayson proceeded to get on Janet Drake’s case about not appreciating the wonderful puppy she had waiting for her at home.
After helping him out of the room, Alfred came back to apologize for Master Grayson. “You’ll have to forgive him. It’s almost Jason’s birthday.”
In the greatest social blunder Janet ever made in her life (partially distracted by the wine stain on her new silver dress) she snapped out, “He’s still upset about that?”
(Fortunately for her, the room was loud enough that her voice didn’t carry far. But every conversation in a 20ft radius stopped dead. She did realize immediately and start to apologize, that came out wrong, oh god, she didn’t mean it like that!)
(Tim suggests Dick not antagonize Tim’s parents in the future after all.)
-
This is actually the verse that first made me realize I wanted Tim to ask Steph to be Robin in his place, because in this verse they’re not just losing Robin, they’re losing their Pack Alpha with nobody to replace him. That is so much compounding trauma just from one member leaving the pack, but if Steph takes Tim’s place as Pack Alpha before Tim’s dad makes Tim cut himself out of the pack…
-
(Cass & Alfred are both betas, for the record.)
-
Dick has a bad reaction to the inducers the second time Jason has to save him. By the time Jason hauls Dick back to the nearest safehouse, Dick’s such an emotional mess that the only way Jason could ever calm Dick down is for Jason to reveal his identity and repair their pack bond.
Dick knows it’s Jason, because you can’t lie through the bond.
(Tim shows up at some point in the night, and refuses to leave.  “He said no alphas,” Jason snarls.  “I wouldn’t be much of one if I left him alone like this with a stranger,” Tim snaps back.) (Dick drags Tim into the nest too as soon as he realizes Tim is there.)
-
Neither Dick nor Tim tell Bruce about Jason, because Jason made it clear he didn’t want Bruce to know. They do both proceed to hound Jason, trying to coax him back into the pack. Bruce is very uncomfortable with both of his sons being so determined to apparently befriend their newest rogue.
(I just have this delightful mental image of Nightwing dropping in on one of Red Hood’s meetings, saying he’s not there for trouble, framing it as an “I owe you for saving my skin” sort of thing. Before he leaves, Nightwing flashes his brightest smile at Hood. “By the way, Robin thinks you’re cool.”
Half of Jason’s goons die laughing as soon as they get over the shock.)
-
Damian picks a fight with Tim because (despite Talia’s best efforts,) Damian did pick up several assumptions about the different designations. Tim was the next-newest, so Damian could cement his place in the pack by beating the lowest alpha, surely.
Damian realized his mistake as soon as Bruce arrived. The pack Head is a beta. The Second is an omega. Which means Damian just picked a fight with the Wayne Pack Alpha.
And—since Tim is still breathing, speaking, and glaring daggers at Damian—Damian lost.
(Tim meets Damian’s gaze for 10 agonizing seconds before turning away with a lift of his chin; dismissive, just like Ra’s would do. Damian’s just like, “I am so dead.”)
-
(I have a bunch of other stuff that’s pretty much Hurt No Comfort of Dick dealing with his medical problems & also how this particular set up would probably affect his various assaults, and how the trauma from those would then compound back into those medical problems. It’s… it’s not good. It’s not fun. I don’t think anyone wants to hear about that.)
(It does give Jason the chance to hunt down Catalina Flores, and gave me the chance to type the line, “I don’t think you understand. I’m not his friend. I’m not his boyfriend. I’m not even a hero. I’m his son.”)

10 Favourite Regression Dynamics
I’ve made lists of some characters I headcanon as regressors, and characters I headcanon as caregivers: and I love a good ‘character and reader’ dynamic, but here are some canon dynamics that I LOVE to add age regression to!
Important note: these aren’t necessarily romantic ‘ships’ and they might not be healthy age regression dynamics but they’re dynamics I find it rewarding to write about!
Tumblr media
1. regressor!Will and caregiver!Hannibal (NBC Hannibal)
Starting strong with a regression dynamic that is not healthy but it is such an interesting thing to add to their existing codependence! Will gives me such agere vibes and Hannibal’s existing trauma around his big brother history make this such an interesting dynamic to explore. It definitely tilts the power balance faaaar in the direction of someone who will take the opportunity to do terrible things with it, but that’s basically what you’re signing up for with any story about Hannibal Lecter.
2. regressor!Jack and caregiver!Bitty (Check Please!)
No one exudes stronger caregiver vibes than Bitty: I’m definitely a supporter of this as a double-flip pairing (with both regressing and caregiving) but I want the sad hockey man to get cuddles, goshdarnit, and you know that Bitty would just be the sweetest most thoughtful caregiver and I just gah they’re already such a good pairing with such canonically developed communication as a couple and I would love to see that skill applied to something as vulnerable as regression
 3. regressor!Harry and caregiver!Sirius (Harry Potter)
If anyone deserves a chance at a second childhood, it’s Harry Potter. And I think that when he connected with Sirius as a young teen, he really saw that possibility. I think it would be so sweet to see Sirius actually able to give Harry that full parenting: both at the age he is now, and all the ages that he missed. I just strongly feel like Harry is a regressor, and as much as I like writing him with peers supporting him, I feel like he deserves a real parent figure who can support him in that role in and out of regression, especially in his teen years.
4. regressor!Jon and caregiver!avatars (Magnus Archives)
Okay, this is more of a whump thing than a good dynamic, but I just want to see little!Jon dealing with avatars when they’re being nice to him, and it’s like 90% manipulation but it’s also a bunch of monsters being sweet and you can kind of read it as genuine if you squint. I’ve got a vision and it includes literally any of the not-quite-human characters of the Magnus Archives, ranging from the mostly-sweet (End!Gerry) to the completely-terrifying (Bouchard).
5. regressor!Tony, caregiver!Pepper (Marvel)
This is the first pairing that ever made me run to write regression fanfiction, and I do believe that I would not be an agere writer without them. Ironically, I’ve never finished and published any of my fics about them, but they have my whole heart. Taking Tony’s earlier unthinking dependence on Pepper and bringing it back in a healthy way, with limits and negotiation and emotional vulnerability, showing how much they’ve grown as a couple? Yes please!!
6. regressor!Cullens, caregivers!Carlisle and Esme (Twilight)
I am such! a! sucker! for immortal beings finding a way to reclaim the concept of time and childhood. Carlisle and Esme canonically find a lot of value in being parents, and considering that they’re such a range of ages, I think that regression is a neat way to create that dynamic, and I just like big groups of regressors in a family and it scratches all of those interests in one!!
7. regressor!Morty, flip!Rick (Rick and Morty)
It’s the toxicity for me!!! I make no claims that this would be a good thing, but also I enjoy writing about the things that trigger Rick’s ‘oh shit I have feelings’ mode and you can’t tell me that regression would not key into that, both in his own experiences as a flip and then having to face it as part of Morty’s trauma. And Morty simultaneously trying to get away into independence but getting drawn back by Rick’s kindness in this single circumstance ties into all of the terrible themes of the show.
8. regressor/caregiver flips Dean and Sam (Supernatural)
Speaking of codependence, I cannot choose which of these boys is more symbolically resonant to have as a regressor, and both of them certainly have enough trauma to make it a viable coping mechanism. I think they have the art of balancing each other down to an art: especially in the early seasons, you can really see that process in the way they take turns being the Angry one. Writing about that balance in the context of regression is an interesting concept, and then the way that Dean relates to caregiving versus needing care, and Sam’s desperation to be the reliable one... it’s just a lot of tasty angst to play with alongside the sweet opportunity for a childhood without the war they were raised to fight.
9. regressor!Erik, caregiver!Christine (Phantom of the Opera)
Okay, this one is like ninety percent for the aesthetics, because you do need to do some handwaving over canon to make it fluffy. But Erik needs reparenting, and flipping the relationship from the original dynamic with Erik as a kind of father-figure is a nice way to reclaim the story from the original gothic maiden themes.
10. regressor!Dave, caregiver!Roxy (Homestuck)
All hail my Ride Or Die regression dynamic!!! It’s basically canon and I stand by that! Dave called her mom and said that it feels nice to think of her as a mom because he had such a mixed experience with his own parental figure. And she’s got her own complicated feelings about parenthood and guardianship, but says that she likes it when Dave calls her mom, and it all just makes me very happy.
This has been my TEDtalk on my favourite regression dynamics!! Thank you for coming!!

The colour of Turning Red – Part 3
Here's a link to Part 1.
I want to jump back a bit her to show how pink Mei's outfit is on her way to school and then how red it is after she's had her private drawings exposed by Tyler.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And again, the way the reds build here are fantastic!
Tumblr media
Earlier, when I mentioned how important hair is to the language of Turning Red, you probably thought I was referring to Mei's hair turning red. And, yeah, that's part of it, but I want to draw attention to Ming's hair because there's something very interesting happening here. Ming's hair is perfect. We've seen her have some wild moments so far, but even in those, not a single hair is out of place. At this point she's fighting with school security and yet somehow her hair remains perfect. This isn't an accident; it's extremely deliberate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then we get this moment. Obviously the pads are gonna be pink and teal, especially considering the role puberty plays in the film.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masterful. And I know it's maybe the smallest thing in a scene where a lot of big things are happening for Mei, but my heart really feels for Ming in that last picture.
As Mei runs in the school halls, we get this...
Tumblr media
I love these shots with a red spot right in the centre of a teal environment. There are so many in this film. It's a wonderful dynamic.
Hey, Pixar. Visually tell me that Mei is feeling awkward in her body.
Tumblr media
This film is not subtle (and that's a good thing).
Importantly, when Mei needs her, Ming goes all out. The heels come off, she leaps over the bonnet of her car...
Tumblr media
...and for the first time, at the end of this sequence, her hair is out of place.
Tumblr media
This is an expression of her priorities. She's almost completely defined by teal, the colour of the curated self... but Mei comes first.
As for Mei, she's returned to that teal blanket again, brushing her cheeks with a teal brush. Note the high contrast lighting in the scene to emphasise the heightened emotion.
Tumblr media
Back to the temple. Note how previously the temple was teal and red, but in this moment as the panda is explained, the location is specifically all red, the spots of teal are very muted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Continued in Part 4.

OK GUYS IMMA GO ON A RANT ABT THE NOVEL UNWIND, OK? OK.
HOLY SHIT.
guys it was so fucking good i swear.
ok so yeah, warning spoilers n shit. yeah.
ok so i really like the concept of the whole Bill of Life thing, unwinding especially.
like holy smokes was it good.
OK SO IK ITS NOT THE MOST POPULAR NOVEL I DONT THINK SO FOR MY MOOTS WHO R SEEING THIS THIS IS THE GENERAL CONCEPT: since abortions r banned pretty much, ppl either “stork” unwanted children or “unwind” children when they became unwanted. like the story starts off abt three unwinds, being unwound for completely different reasons. Connor was like, a troublesome kid and his parents just didn’t want that so they signed the orders to get him unwound. i missed why Risa was unwound but im pretty sure the state house just didn’t have much room for her anymore(she got storked there i think. she really didn’t grab my attention at the beginning sadly). Lev came from a Christian family, and churches make everyone sacrifice one of their children for God by unwinding them second they turn 13, Lev being one of them(it’s considered an honor)
OK SO the concept of storking is that, the mother delivers a child, doesn’t want it, leaves it at some person’s doorstep and then it’s “finders keepers.” however if they are caught they have to take the kid back and legally obliged to keep it. same with the finders keepers situation, got storked and ain’t no one at ur doorstep? legally obliged to keep it like it or not. however Connor’s parents once got storked and passed it into the neighbors house, and the baby rotated for a week and back to their house, but already sick and dying. Connor then gets traumatized and further on in the book he’s so overridden with the memory that when a bitch got storked she yell at them (Connor abd Risa) to take it back even tho the kid wasn’t theirs.
the concept of unwinding is that legally between 13-18 your guardians can send you to a harvest camp where you’re taken apart and given these parts to those who need it. like for example: you got unwound, taken to a harvest camp, they take your hands and give it to a guy who lost his across the fucking continent. ppl literally stopped trying to cure things, just replaced faulty organs with healthy ones. and no one really knows what’s going on in those harvest camps. do they kill you off immediately or do they wait and wait for weeks on weeks to get to you while you never know when’s your last day.
SO ANYWAY
I really like Connor’s relationship with Hayden, and tbh if they would make them canonically in love i’d be the happiest person on this planet. but again that would cause even further complications w the plot so i get it ig. but at the same time i don’t. Connor never really struck me as a cishet dude even from the beginning of the story, and though him abd Risa r a very good pair i’d just kinda like it more if they paired him up with Hayden. cuz first of all it would add on to tge reason he got unwound in the first place. abd like, i want a gay protagonist in a horror book is that really too much to ask?
same thing with Lev and CyTy, tho i see them more as moirails. yk, homestuck. heheh. no bc they’re so caring for eachother it’s crazy. but again i don’t see them in a romantic relationship, i just rlly like their dynamic. live laugh love how Lev was willing to go through with CyTy’s shit and vice versa.
Hayden and CyTy gotta b my fab characters frfr. anyway so CyTy’s name is actually Cyrus, but he has an eighth of a brain of a kid who got unwound and his name was Tyler. so like, he sometimes does things that Tyler would do but himself won’t, leading them to Tyler’s parents’ house and it actually made me tear up.
ALSO RISA IS AN EMO GINGER. NOT DEBATABLE. I DO NOT CARE IF IT CAN NEVER B CANON, I LIVE FOR EMO GINGER RISA.
GUYS THIS BOOK IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL GO READ IT
i NEED to make a Homestuck Unwind AU
(imma just tag 4 moots i think would find this interesting @hiddencattoes @kovuspams @r3z1l1c1ous @imgoingtoeatyourfirstbornchild sorry guys this felt necessary)

The latest part of Grain of Truth was so 😋 yummy!
Thank u for that wonder part!
I have questions if u don't mind 💓don't answer if u don't like or feel pressure!!!!
1. When did he fall in love with her? The second he saw her or did it grow?
2. Did he know that he was going to bite her with out having a conversation?
3. Is steve excited that she can feel him?
4. When was the last relationship he had or has he never really committed until the reader?
5. How much does he like that reader is unknowledgeable on Alpha omega relationships and he gets to teach her?
6. Would steve ever let reader dominate him?
Don't answer if u don't want to!
Love ya❤️
Hey there Anon! I don't mind these questions at all, thank you for being so interested in the story to reach out with them 🥰 I really love interacting with you guys ❤ so don't ever hesitate to send me asks.
Under the cut, because it turned long
1..Steve didn't fall in love right away, but he allowed himself that to happen rather quickly, because he accepted she's his true mate. In his mind, if he meets his true mate it means they're in a sense perfect for him, so he has nothing to worry about opening up to her. There was definitely fascination first, especially with how Omega reacted and fought. Then he learned more and more about her, spent time with her and the love just bloomed. To be honest, the actual sense of love came when he was away? Because then Omega fully willingly interacted with him, she sent him messages and pictures every day. To him it felt like she started caring and showing more of her true self to him.
2. The thing with Steve in the alpha/omega dynamic is that he's aware of the nuances and details, and often forgets (ignores) that she isn't. To him it was natural and normal, because they're true mates and that's what should happen at some point. Omega had her own prejudiced view on the bite and Steve didn't consider it at all. The fact he's also a very dominating and possessive alpha also played the part. Steve knew he was going to bite her sooner or later. Omega's heat meant it was going to happen sooner, because as filthy it all is, it's also very intimate and Steve wanted to share that intimacy fully - aka expose his feelings with this bite. Because that's what a bonding bite is to him - the highest form of showing feelings and vulnerability.
3. He's very excited she can feel him, partially because he loves and trusts her, but also because he hopes it makes her more open to mating and makes her like it (which is manipulative of him, but that's how Steve is when he wants to get it his way)
4. I've answered a similar ask before. Steve had a few short-term relationships and one longer, which was simply his “first love” back in high school. His later relationships were much shorter, mostly focused on sex, but some also on good company. He was never deeply committed, because Steve was always waiting for his true mate. But he was honest with his partners about his view on those relations. And he was always respectful of his partners and cared for them as much as he could.
5. Steve doesn't like it at all 😂 It frustrates him to no end. Sure, giving his manipulative tendencies he could use it to his advantage to "shape" her the way he wants, but he's not interested in that. Omega having little knowledge of the truths is one of the reasons their beginning was so rocky and fucked up. It's also why she freaks out at the bite, which nearly causes Steve a migraine. He wants her to learn the truths from reliable sources, like the actual classes (which she revealed to have skipped in the past) or at least talking with Amita about details they never talked about in their friendship, because Amita never thought her friend's knowledge has gigantic holes in it.
6. Also answered this in the past - Steve would let her be on top or initiate things, but the alpha streak wouldn't allow for his omega to be fully in control. So even if she's the one climbing him and pushing him down (yeah, he definitely had to allow for that, she's no match for his strength), Steve's hands are guiding her moves. He may be sneaky about, she may not even notice, but it's Steve who holds the reins.
There will be, in the future, a little glimpse of Omega going possessive and a tad dominating, but Steve easily flips it around (for mutual benefits) 😏

just because I want to make myself cry more, about how old were Liliths’ children when they were killed. Can she also drop her “how to get a hot monster boyfriend(s) in ten steps” YouTube tutorial, I need it for a friend, thanks
Tumblr media
I thought this ask might be perfect to give a peek at the WIP for Lilith's character sheet. Adam really did absolutely nothing to have this woman as his wife, and you know what he did? He really took one look at her and said, "Submit". 🤡 Like, ok buddy lol.
But as for your questions, I'm going to answer them under the cut just in case! I'm very excited to answer these 🖤
Tw for under the cut: Mentions of child death, sex, and abuse
How old were Lilith's children when they were killed?
That's a good question, but the answer is a bit uncertain. Stay with me while I give some context lol. If you look at some of the stories about her within Judaic mythology, she is a demon that roams the desert. Specifically in The Book of Isaiah, she is referred to as a "Night Demon" or "The Night Monster" (Isaiah 34:14). This is related to the original interpretation of her being a vengeful spirit that steals and kills children at night, specifically male babies. Now, there is a whole layer of issues that I could get into with this, but I'm going to stick to two main points for this:
Her "reason" for wanting revenge comes from the punishment that God placed on her. When she was found in her cave by God's angels, they tried to force her to come back to the Garden of Eden, which she ran from after refusing to submit to Adam. Because of her disobedience, the children that she has already had, and assumingly will have, will die every day (as some text describes her as either being pregnant or having children with her in the cave when the angels find her). Sometimes there's a number attached to this, like "100 children a day", and we could also get into a whole discussion about demon litters lol, but for now let's run with the fact that every child she had was killed. This leads me to my second point...
Lilith is also described as being the wife of Samael, who in Judaic mythology is the angel of death. I find it really interesting how Lilith is associated heavily with child death, while also being seen as the wife of, essentially, the grim reaper. It is also important to note that the children she is bearing are not clearly identified to be Adam's or Samael's.
Here is my twisted ass take, now finally getting into your question:
I find it very hard to believe that Lilith would refuse to be seen as a sex object for one man, but then run into a marriage with another. Even if, in the time span of her escaping the Garden, she did fall in love with Samael, why would she marry him? The dynamic of marriage within this context and time period was very much so "women are the subordinate" when Lilith's main objective is to be seen as an equal to her partner.
My take is she got with Samael so that he would help her escape the Garden. While Samael is a darker figure, he is still in alignment with God, sometimes even interpreted as one of the 7 archangels.
But weren't angels cast out of heaven for coupling with human women? Yup, but I can also see Samael simply getting a slap on the wrist and dismissed because of his special privilege as "the venom of God", while Lilith gets the full blow of God's wrath, especially if those children weren't his, but Adam's. You can also consider the power dynamic that Samael has over Lilith. It is one thing for her to refuse a man, but to refuse The Angel of Death, as a human woman, is entirely different. What other choice did she have but to agree to be his wife in order to escape?
As for her children, I really don't see how they could have been very old at all when they died. The stories don't give an exact time frame, but it does seem like it took a fair amount of time for the angels to find Lilith in her cave. I can easily see it being around 2-4 years, maybe less. So assuming she got pregnant or was in the early stages of pregnancy when she fled the Garden, her children were probably within that range of years as well.
Now this is really fucked up, but if God's punishment was to have Lilith's children be killed every single day, regardless of the number, that very well might mean she was constantly having children with Samael in order for the curse to continue. Why would she continue having kids knowing the consequence? I'm not going to get too into that, because that is quite dark, but it seems possible considering Samael was still an angel of the Lord, meaning he would also act upon God's will.
Her children were all very young when they died.
“How to get a hot monster boyfriend(s) in ten steps”
Please let me know if you guys would like a comic for this because I would be so down to draw it! I can't wait to show you guys more of the relationship that Lilith has with her Kings.
For now, though, her main tips would be:
Look them in the eyes when they try to scare you. Once they see you are not afraid, they will stop baring their teeth.
Make sure they are well fed, and that their needs are taken care of properly. It's important to take care of your pets.
Remind them that they are not monsters to you, but the ones that showed you what love is supposed to look like.
I hope this doesn't make you cry too much, anon 🖤💐

Hey Raven! 👋🏻 I just went through your #my art, and i wanted to tell you that i really really really like your artworks of Miss Raven and Co. You truly put a lot of effort into your artwork, and it shows! With each new drawing, you seem to be getting better! ✏️💕
As i mentioned earlier, i really liked your Miss Raven drawings! they're so cute! especially when you drew Miss Raven in alternative clothing. I also like how much detail you put in your designs for Miss Raven, like the ones for the Fairy Gala or Masquerade Ball are so beautiful 🥺 and still fit her character!
The one you did with her wearing different dorm uniforms from each dorm was such a cool idea! it was interesting to see how she may have appeared if Miss Raven was transferred to said dorms! call me biased, but i liked the octavinelle design the most 😂 but poor Miss Raven. If she had to work part-time in Mostro lounge, she'll have to avoid two predatory Eels 😭 One wants to tease her while the other either wants to squeeze her or dump all his work on her cuz he isn't feeling it today, then there's Azul who takes advantaged of the fact that Miss Raven is close to headmaster Crowley and makes profit 📈 Run Miss Raven Run!!!
Anyway, I think i'm going to steal her away and fight off a certain dangerous and manipulate Eel, a Skilful Hunter, a Lazy Lion, and a dude with the power of christ (idk is Rollo x Raven even a thing?!).
I always look forward to seeing a new artwork of yours truly~

Wehhh 😭 I’m glad you find enjoyment in my silly little doodles! Art is definitely an area I’m less comfortable with, but I do like dabbling in it when the mood strikes.
There’s something therapeutic in designing a new look for your OC! You take the time to consider their individual style, the overall theme, and how you can marry the two to create a cute outfit~ I’m really happy with how Raven’s Fairy Gala Couture came out; it’s definitely one of my favorite looks for her. The Masquerade outfit was also fun for me to assemble, but it seems a lot less cohesive in hindsight (probably because I didn’t line + color it, so it’s harder to distinguish individual elements??).
The NRC dorm uniforms (+ the sequel with RSA and NBC uniforms) was another cool project! I think my favorites from those are the Heartslabyul look (just because I’m a sucker for the Alice in Wonderland aesthetic + Raven is twisted from the raven in its infamous riddle), the Diasomnia look (it gives “fairy tale princess turned knight” energy), and the Noble Bell look (because the extra fabric is nice and flowy). You can see how the environment and the personality of each school/dorm influences her, right? ^^ It’s also interesting to think about how differently Raven might have turned out if each of these places had more of an influence on her life.
Bruh 💀 I think she’d die if she worked at the Mostro Lounge, dealing with customers and shady coworkers and employer… though that’s not to say that any of the other dorms would necessarily be better! Miss Raven would have gripes with or rivals in each of them somehow. It’s the Night Raven College way, I guess??
One of these things is not like the other… Looking back on it, 3 out of 4 of those are basically predatory-prey dynamics there there’s a type developing and I don’t know if I like it/j 😂 I’d say Jade’s the “main” love interest, while Rook’s the “oh, he’s cute” one… L*ona kind of started as a crack ship but now I think it’s more of a one-sided thing?? Like, Miss Raven still sees L*ona as sort of a rival, whereas he’s grown a little fond of her but knows he can’t do much to sway her… It’s the eternally “second place” syndrome… 😔
Rollo has the most complex relationship with her (sure, call it a ship if you want 😂), built primarily on a strange savior complex. He did some heinous stuff and dislikes her because she’s very pro-magic—but I think there’s a part of him that feels like she’s a lost lamb that’s been led astray by Draconia and therefore he needs to “save” and “correct” her. Problem is, he’s bad at Emotions so his anger gets redirected at Miss Raven herself. Meanwhile, Miss Raven realizes the similarities between herself and Rollo, so she wants to be a friend to him. She sort of forces him to be her pen pal (thinking that writing down how he feels will help him cope with what happened). So weirdly enough, Raven wants to “save” Rollo and Rollo wants to “save” Raven (but both suck at communicating well).
Who knows, we’ll see how things play out from here Nd when the whim to draw strikes next 📝

10 fandoms, 10 characters, 10 tags
Basic rules: choose 10 fandoms that you are part of/support, and choose a favorite character from each of those. Then, tag ten folks!
Thanks for the tag @briar-ffxiv :3 idk how i'm supposed to pick a single favorite out of all these tho cries. Obvious fandoms are up top, but some (maybe. a little.) less common ones show up further down!
FFXIV // Alisaie Leveilluer
Tumblr media
I think she's one of the most dynamic characters in the series, and I love love love seeing her come out of her shell as the expansions go on. Her personal arc focuses so heavily on surviving grief and learning to keep an open heart even when faced with loss over and over again, and I appreciate how well that ties into the main storyline, too.
Fallout 4 // Piper Wright
Tumblr media
My wife <333 Piper's reckless go-gettem attitude and propensity for ruffling feathers on her quest to out the baddies really endeared me to her. Finding her soft heart under all the bravado and banter is really rewarding, and I love how committed she is to standing for her ideals, even if it means standing alone. Fo4 has such a cool setting to get immersed in overall, and I really do enjoy all the 50s/60s US tropes thrown into the mix with it.
Reth // Palia
Tumblr media
The epitome of making objectively horrible choices for arguably noble reasons. I love this walking disaster. He made me soup. I like how most of the Palia characters have more to them than meets the eye at first meeting, and how many ways they can surprise you as you build relationships with them. But gaining the disgraced pariah Reth's trust? Becoming someone he's brave enough to ask for help from? I treasure it above all the others LOL
Gale Dekarios // Baldur's Gate 3
Tumblr media
I'm NOT going to essay I'm NOT going to essay I'm not -- But seriously I do adore this guy's arc. I like how messy it is, even if in more subtle ways than, say, Astarion (ilu too boo.) Gale has so many "gifted kid" trademarks and strikes me as someone who's entire self worth has been based on how useful or interesting he is to others. It's hard to fault him for his ambition, when his magical prowess was the only avenue he had to make meaningful bonds up until the whole tadpole nonsense. BG3 exceeded my wildest expectations out of an RPG and continues to do so every time I pick it up.
Anders // Dragon Age II
Tumblr media
I feel obligated to say I don't really consider myself part of the DA fandom because every time I've poked my head in I've found it to be a wretched hive of scum and villainy with the most inane batshit discourse I've ever seen in my life. But the game itself? Love the game. Love the characters. Anders broke my heart. I really enjoyed his internal turmoil and the very literal ideological battle between justice and vengeance he faced throughout the game. I'll eat that up.
Obi-Wan Kenobi // Star Wars
Tumblr media
He's baby.
I definitely pick and choose which installations of the behemoth that is the Star Wars franchise to consider canon, and like Dragon Age I try not to actually get involved in fandom spaces. Ever. But I love Obi-Wan's story in the prequels especially, and if you've followed me very long I'm sure you know how much I like my hurt/comfort and angst, which he has in spades.
Halo 1-3, ODST, & Reach // The Arbiter
Tumblr media
I grew up on Halo and even have a little poseable model of this guy decorating my bookshelf. Halo's a shooter game first, of course, and I spent a good chunk of my childhood rerunning levels, and playing ninjanaut with friends on splitscreen. But its lore also fell into that sort of early TES space for me, where you had enough of an idea of the world for it to capture your imagination and inspire you, without being overwhelming to keep track of. The angst. The mystique. The badass alien with a glowing sword. 10/10. My Spartan OC is called Artemis and my brother has one named Ares and yes we did slay in PvP as teenagers.
Firefly // Simon Tam
Tumblr media
Choosing Firefly is predictable af but thats ok. It still makes me ache wishing we got to know more about the world, the characters - and maybe that unfinished homesick feeling is part of the appeal. I loved watching Simon be so out of his depth in the frontier of space, but willing to giving up everything for someone he cared about and learning to make a new place for himself with Firefly's motley crew.
Mizu // Blue Eye Samurai
Tumblr media
I was not prepared for this show to WRECK me like it did. I thought it was going to be a run of the mill cheesy samurai anime and GOD. The thoughtful, clever storytelling and dynamic characters knocked me on my ass. I couldn't stop watching. The cast is incredible, the art style is gorgeous. Every single aspect of this show ties into this theme of being caught between two worlds, and Mizu's story is one I am not going to forget any time soon. If you haven't watched this, you're missing out.
Mal // The Dog Master
Tumblr media
I'm not sure there's even really a FANDOM for this book. I haven't ever met anyone else who'd even heard of it, let alone read it. But a fandom can just be me, occasionally pitching it desperately to friends, right? XD The story follows several tribes, but the "main" character is Mal, who was kicked out of his tribe and survives partly by befriending a wolf and raising it. It's pretty cleverly written, with several timelines converging at unexpected moments to offer up plot twists and tie-ins that really wouldn't have been possible if it was written another way. I'm a little geeky about it just for the structural approach. But there's honestly not enough good caveman books out there, and this one has a wide cast of unique and interesting characters who feel very human.
--
I will tag @ronqueesha @bogglebabbles-main @sayonaramidnight @traveleorzea @orime-stories @silentletterwords @ellastara @rinka-fortemps @eriyu @jameswrites
And anyone else who wants to! I'd love to see your lists! But no pressure ofc <3

Shipper Tag Game
Tagged by @heyholmesletsgo, thank you! :) I apologize that this took me literally forever to do!!!
1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore? I think probably Alec Scutter/ Maurice Hall from Maurice but I wouldn’t say I don’t care about them anymore
2. Which ship would you consider your first one? I had to think about this really hard. I don’t remember if it was George and Susan San Francisco from Alien Nation or Maurice Hall and Alec Scutter from Maurice.  I loved both of these couples fiercely but especially the former I haven’t even thought of until I started thinking about this.
3. Your first fanfic was about which couple? I didn’t ever write it down till much later
4. Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of? I apologize to artists – I do not!!
5. Have you ever gotten into ship discourse? With my social anxiety? Heavens no.
6. Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently? I guess I do but I honestly don’t think about it too much. Like I don’t read those ships but honestly can’t be bothered to block any content because I don’t care that much.
7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read? WeiLan from Guardian (Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan)
8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? SO MANY (can one have multiple One True Pairings?  Yes, yes you can).  ZiNing (Ouyang Zizhen /Wen Ning) is my absolute number one.  But I also passionately love ChuGuo, BigTay, ChanPol, XiYao, YaoYang (CLs Yao and Ouyang), ZhuiLing, and Qin Su/Bicao.
9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together? Okay so this is a bit of a deep cut and I refuse to google the names of the characters lest it upset me again. I adore the actor Rupert Graves (Probably because he plays Alec Scutter) and he was in this movie called Dreaming of Joseph Lees.  His character has sooooo much chemistry with the female lead and they are so good together. But in the end she goes back to her horrible and cruel husband because he’s been injured or something I don’t remember.  I just remember I was sooooo mad and it still upsets me to think about it now.
10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting? I mean probably if you have a really wide definition of ship and it encompasses my whole life of imagining fictional characters together. But I can’t think of one right now.
11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? I can’t think of anything.
12. What is your favorite crack ship? People consider YaoYang to be a crack ship but like I don’t think I could be so passionate about them if I thought that. I am not writing them as a pairing as a joke.  I think the first time I wrote them seriously (a fic called A Call to Arms) I started it as a joke and a way to play with unreliable characters. But I ended up sort of getting in their heads and now I love them so much. Because I think people in my life find me annoying and a little too much of a know-it-all (who is often wrong about things) so I kind of identify with CL Yao in a way.  So but yeah I guess technically this is my favourite crack ship?
13. What is the couple you read the most fanfics about? Honestly, I guess WangXian just because there are the MOST of them.
14. What do most of your ships usually have in common? Hmmmm.  I think, and maybe this is in all ships?, that each of the characters sees something in the other that no one else can. Like maybe everyone else thinks they are annoying (lol YaoYang) or just a sweet sexless cinnamon roll (ZiNing), or for whatever reasons the characters don’t think they deserve love or that anyone could love them.  I think that’s the thing.
15. What you absolutely hate in a ship? This is hard for me to answer because the whole point of fiction is that you can like things that would be terrible in real life.  So a dynamic that would suck irl could be a great ship dynamic?  I guess I don’t have an answer.
Tagging @unfortunatelycake @jaggededges123 @justacoyote @linacies @zaelriel (no pressure at all! I won't be offended if you're not interested!) and whoever else would like to answer!

c!Dream mentioned today that c!Quackity has betrayed c!Sam before, and c!Sam agreed. I can’t call to mind a specific event that would constitute c!Quackity betraying c!Sam, and I also can’t really take c!Sam’s corroboration with any weight, considering the power dynamic between those two… so what is c!Dream referring to here? Or is he just lying to undermine c!Foolish’s relationship with c!Q and forcing c!Sam to back him up?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
/rp dsmp
I see we’re all of one mind :) I also cannot think of anything specific that Dream is referencing here!
Sam agrees with Dream, sure, but it’s in the exact same way that he’s been agreeing with Dream all stream. None of it’s sincere, he’s saying whatever he thinks Dream wants to hear to try to protect Foolish, Quackity, and himself. Sam stutters and mumbles, then he volunteers that Quackity betrayed him “multiple” times. Then when Foolish asks him about specifics of the timing, before or after Las Nevadas, he says, nonsensically, “around that time.” Which Dream follows up with the even dumber “throughout.”
But what is interesting is the way that Dream brought it up.
Dream had no shortage of real betrayals (besides his torture of course) to bring up. He could have referenced the Butcher Army, or his own attempted assassination, or Karl’s death and the whole framing debacle. Hell, depending on how many details of Quackity’s shenanigans in Las Nevadas he’s learned, he could have brought up things there.
There are a couple of pragmatic reasons Dream might want to make Sam appear to agree with him about Quackity’s tendency towards duplicity, of course. Foolish seems to trust Sam, Dream has just told Foolish he has deeply personal reasons to hate Quackity, and Foolish knows Sam and Quackity were working together. But, well, it does seem pretty damn farcical for Dream to expect Foolish to blindly believe the words he’s obviously putting in Sam’s mouth (especially once Dream leaves). Sam is not a very convincing liar when his heart isn’t in it.
So, really, like many things he said this stream, that leads me to conclude it was mostly to make a point to Sam. Which of these points are more consciously intentional and which are less are up to you :)
1) Sam has to agree with whatever Dream says, no matter how false, stupid, or humiliating. He has to lie for him, without even being asked. Power play.
2) Sam has to specifically condemn Quackity, his partner in crime, the man he trusted with Dream’s life day after day after day, and he has to condemn Quackity in front of a friend.
3) Sam has to admit that he’s been tricked or outsmarted or ill-used: in essence, he has to admit that he made a mistake in trusting Quackity.
4) Sam has to face the idea that Quackity’s actions throughout Dream’s torture were a betrayal of the office Sam held.
5) Sam has to face the idea that Quackity did in fact, in one sense, seek to betray Sam: with his attempt to kill Techno and his intention to kill Dream, he was knowingly undermining Sam, and Dream and Sam both realized it. That was the reason Sam barred him from the prison and lied to him.

a friendship dynamic + a "you're way too smart and it kinda freaks me out" dynamic (Kijin and Raha! I made up the second one, don't worry about it)
an “i want to be your friend but you don’t want me around” dynamic (liun'a and raha, meeting by chance through Data... )
a sibling-like dynamic (raha and raha, what if twins…)
a coworker (affectionate) dynamic + a mentor and mentee dynamic (nok'to and alisaie, because they're both scions but she would technically be the senior red mage so less mentor and more "obviously more skilled than me, so I could learn a lot"!)
an “i occasionally come across you and you seem nice, we aren’t close but i would hate if something happened to you” dynamic (youmu and x'rhun, perhaps relating over their different disabilities?)
a friendship dynamic + a joined-at-the-hip best friends dynamic (erenville and data! they could be really good friends)
a tentative variety pack of a friendship dynamic + a friends-to-lovers dynamic + a queerplatonic dynamic (erenville, t'laqa, kijin and data because DoL/DoH things.)
an antagonistic (not necessarily hate each other) dynamic + an “i occasionally come across you and you seem nice, we aren’t close but i would hate if something happened to you” dynamic (kijin and aulie, i feel like his aversion of women in ARR would really sour their relationship)
a professional workplace relationship dynamic + a "twelve forfend, I'm trying to let A'aba and Arenvald have some time together as definitely-not-father-and-son, just come with me for a while, for fuck's sake" dynamic (V'mah and Data, I made another one up. You're welcome.)
meme
1) YES, and even though G'raha is someone so intelligent, I don't think he'd have any issues with wanting to teach Kijin if he wanted to learn anything. Especially if they're close friends. Though something tells me that Kijin would ultimately refuse a little bit. Maybe they'd reach a compromise of Kijin teaches him to cook and G'raha teaches him whatever he wants to know. Does G'raha look the type to sit there and feel like he's beneath him? Not really. Though I think he'd have a heavy time having to crane his head a lot, but that's not his fault.
2) That's such a toughie when it comes to those two, considering they meet through a mutual, and it makes me wonder who is it that isn't wanted around? Would it be Liun'a due to his past and that leaves a bad taste in G'raha's mouth. Or possibly because their personalities kind of clash? If one of them doesn't want the other around, I feel like Data would either try to hope they can settle their differences in some way or just keep them beside him in case they accidentally go at each other's throat. I think they'd warm up though, because Data - and he's good at helping people through that.
3) YOU KNOW I'M A SUCKER FOR SIBLING DYNAMICS WITH DUO MUSES. The question is here, is one of them current Raha and another younger? What about the Exarch? Are they the same age, and split up and somehow find each other again? Which one is the all-rounder if they're both not. Do they have a great sense of what's wrong with the other because they're twins. How much of them are twins? Their eyes included? The world is our oyster here and I'm living for it.
4) Since Rhun would have to leave at some point to continue his pilgrimage, I have no doubt that he'd leave Nok'to in Alisaie's capable hands. Cause I think they have some history together yeah? She could teach him portions of Red Magic that he had trouble with. It would be interesting if she too struggled with something like that when it came to either white or black mana. Maybe he couldn't balance right. Alisaie would be a wonderful teacher I bet.
5) You know X'rhun would be extra protective of Youmu when he knows that he can't see. And being deaf himself but allows it to not deter him by way of magic, maybe he'd find some way to amplify Youmu's more enhanced senses in case he feels out of touch with things. And being able to see, but knowing Youmu can take care of himself if the worse comes to worse, he's likely going to be one of those hovering Miqo'te mentors. Both of them use their own version of swords anyway, they got this.
6) PLEASE LET ME HOLD ERENVILLE. Silly little botany traveling boys. They're both hunting for something together or at the same time and just happen to meet up at a specific place. They're probably into the same things, I could see them just bonding really hard and just being absolute sweethearts. They'd sit in nature together and drink tea or something. Everything in nature they do together.
7) The way they're all Miqo'te except for Erenville is adorable. They'd be a super close knit little group, and we already know who would be the fruity ones. I could see Data just developing a queerplatonic dynamic with whoever, just by purely becoming someone who cares and takes care of another. Maybe Kijin and Data work together under Erenville's guidance to gather stuff to help with T'laqa's overwhelming aethersickness. Just a puddle of we're going to love each other and take care of each other, let us just stay in this space and do what we love, together.
8) Going to be honest, something tells me Aulie would find Kijin a little immature for his disdain and hesitation around women, especially with how bad it is in ARR. She'd likely be like "how is he going to succeed if he lets this fear dig at him so badly?" but she also doesn't go out of her way to simply trigger it or make it worse. She keeps her distance, but still talks to him, even if it's a few sentences at a time. Though the idea of him having an echo vision and it crumbles him pretty bad, she'd probably be right there for him. Hand on shoulder, and when he comes to - instantly backs off. She's got a protective nature, that's just how she is. He's immature and a child for his attitude toward women, but she's damned if she doesn't care even a little.
9) I love the idea of this being during Stormblood, after his recovery or if it's just him hanging around longer. V'mah would already know who he was at the time anyway, and he's lingering around Rhalgr's Reach a little longer because he's recovering and whatnot. V'mah is probably like super agitated and is like SOMEONE COME WITH ME WE'RE WALKING - points to Data. You, come with me. Gives Data a chance to see the fight from their eyes, or V'mah is likely going crazy and just needs a calmer Miqo around, hence Data. NPC bonding, yes please.
Look at all these dynamics being held - what are your thoughts?

That ‘90s Show Reviews
Okay, throw out what I wrote in this post. I watched “That ‘90s Pilot,” and I did an organized stream-of-consciousness analysis-reaction. I can’t separate That ‘90s Show from That ‘70s Show, but I was able to think about T9S on its own terms as well as its connection to T7S.
In summary, watching the first ep of That ‘90s Show was like seeing a fanfic turned into a TV show. Some aspects feel right and emotionally satisfying. Some aspects feel totally upside-down and throw me out of the fictional dream. The series has potential to be enjoyable. It has canon character elements, but this is a future that extends from season 4 of That ‘70s Show, no further—excepting a few details taken from seasons 7 and 8 for coherency’s sake. Coherency’s sake sounds strange, considering how the T9S universe is cobbled together. But cobbled together is what the T9S universe is (and T9S creators / showrunners’ interviews essentially admit to this fact by how they described creating the show). As individuals, Kitty and Red are largely in-character but not fully. They’re a little off-model (an animation term). I’ll be interested to see how they interact with the new kids. Below the cut, you’ll find my detailed, spoilery thoughts on “That ‘90s Pilot”.
--Before Leia enters, the Red/Kitty scene, including when there’s a knock on the door, is spot-on. Red and Kitty’s interactions with Eric can be seen as in-character. But since they haven’t seen him since Christmas (i.e. for six months), I think Red would actually be less aloof toward Eric. If they saw each other every month or so, I can understand the agreed-on lack of hug, but in the context of not seeing his son for half a year—we see on T7S that Red does show his love for Eric, including hugs, in important moments. This was punchline over characterization. A more in-character and funnier way (to me) would’ve been them having a very awkward, blink-and-you-miss it hug and them acting like they hadn’t hugged at all right after. (And, yes, Eric looks like he’s barely aged. Point Place Time™, man. Maybe he looks older when he’s not in Point Place. It’s magic.) --Kitty talking about how Leia’s breasts are growing (“Your buds are blooming”) as her second sentence to her granddaughter’s arrival is both OOC for Kitty (she wouldn’t be inappropriate and creepy like that, especially in front of Leia’s father and grandfather. She would talk to Leia about this in private in a more respectful way, about how Leia’s becoming a “young woman”. This line was for the laugh. Punchline over characterization. --Glad that Red gives us the exposition that Leia is athletic like Donna. Also, Red’s joke in giving us that exposition is a solid burn on Eric. --Donna carrying all the suitcases upstairs herself is funny and in-character. --Eric mentioning that Leia now gets her period. Leia’s fourteen, on the later end of normal, for her to start having her period. So this choice is obviously for the reason of setting up how Leia is changing and growing up. --Donna NEVER called Kitty Mrs. F on T7S. Never. This is totally OOC. I can’t see her calling Kitty Mrs. F after calling her Mrs. Forman her whole life since she could talk. Yes, this could change in fifteen years, but I just don’t see Donna making that choice. Kitty: I wish you would call me Mom. Donna: I know. … Someday. Kitty: This weekend. Donna: Okay. Punchline over character. --I like that Donna became an author. At least that part of her character hasn’t been forgotten. --Eric being a professor of The Religion of Star Wars. Well, those of us who kept up on spoilers knew about that one already. Just continuing the long-running joke from T7S. At least his career involves one of the two passions the T7S writers gave him, lol. --Donna stepping, at Leia’s request, in when Eric goes overboard with his geekiness = absolutely see this as true to Donna and Eric’s potential parenting dynamic. --Gwen’s introduction / Leia and Gwen’s introduction to each other: Leia sees a freedom in Gwen that she doesn’t feel herself. She has Gwen-envy. (Gwenvy?) She recognizes parts of herself in Gwen she herself hasn’t yet expressed, and not e v e r y  relationship has to have a romantic element (nor should it). I’m all here for platonic intimate friendships  … Like Eric and Hyde’s. Which this friendship is clearly set up to emulate. Gwen has definite aspects of Hyde to her. The fact Gwen lives in Donna’s old room is a nice touch, and it leads to her making a very Hyde-esque joke / burn on Leia about how Leia’s parents probably used to have sex in Gwen’s room. We learn that Eric, Donna, and Leia live in Chicago during this scene. We also meet Nate, Gwen’s brother. He’s got some sexist attitudes. It’s a characterization choice that creates tension between him and Gwen, but it’s also for the “laughs”. --Tension between Leia and Eric shown through her rejection of Star Wars. Eric partly parents her through Star Wars … not sure if any of that needs commentary beyond the observation of it. I like that Leia and Red’s connection is shown in this moment, though (when Leia burns Eric about Yoda being a puppet, etc.). Still, I hope Leia and Red’s connection isn’t solely based on a mutual frustration toward Eric. --Nikki gets one line then kisses Nate, letting us know they’re a couple. --Okay, yeah, Jay gives me the creeps right away. Yikes. I’m sure this will fall away as Leia gets to know him, but *shudder*. --Oz. Punchline-giver. Like Fez became in T7S’s later seasons. Hope there’s more to him than that. --Hell. Nate to Nikki: “Jay’s had my back for the last twelve years, and you’ve got my front for the last six months. I can’t choose.” That’s … something. So bromance established between Nate and Jay. T9S has two Michael Kelso instead of one. We’ll see if that evolves. But, finally, Kelso gets to be in a relationship with himself? And this episode is taking “The Keg” (1x06) plot from T7S. --The first “circle” scene of the show. I liked the red herring bit with the smoke (I knew Red and Kitty wouldn’t be smoking up with Eric and Donna). I also like Red is in Kitty’s corner with Donna calling her Mom, but to use the show’s own joke: that minor subplot feels forced. --Oz’s line to Nate, “Kid vs. beer: it’s a tale as old as time,” is ripped straight from Fez’s voice (not accent, character voice). --I’m glad Nikki is written as an intelligent, savvy character. Maybe not in love (choosing Nate as her boyfriend is a detail we need to understand the reasoning behind in order to understand Nikki better). --Love seeing Leia’s strength come out with the woman who wouldn’t sell her the tap for the keg. She tries Gwen’s sneaky plan first then goes the direct (blackmail) route using logic. This is not Eric. This is not Donna. This moment shows us Leia is Leia. --Gwen’s optimism is an important, unique aspect of her character. It differentiates her from Hyde, who’s a pessimist. Gwen is also the obvious leader of the friend group (though not a dictator … from what I’ve seen so far). The fact Leia never felt free until her interactions with the Point Place crowd over this twenty-four hour period is sad and implies that Eric and Donna are controlling parents in some way. It’s also sad that she’s spent her first fourteen years of her life not feeling free (which isn’t uncommon). Leia’s dynamic with Gwen, so far, mirrors Eric’s with Donna and Hyde. Donna and Hyde both help Eric find freedom from the internalized discipline and control of Red in season 1 of T7S. --The fact Gwen isn’t put off by Leia’s declaration that she wants her and Gwen “to become best friends” is interesting. Leia is earnest and desperate to gain the freedom she sees in Gwen (her Gwenvy™ is showing) through becoming close with Gwen. Further, Leia’s declaration of wanting her and Gwen to become best friends mirrors Fez’s own to Hyde in a “Class Picture” (4x20) flashback that Hyde is his best friend. Upon their first meeting, Hyde essentially pledges to be Fez’s protector from bullies, which prompts Fez to believe Hyde is his best friend now. --This exchange … Eric: Leia Tattooine Forman -- Donna: Her middle name is Anne. Eric: I never agreed to that. I laughed, but wow is T9S leaning hard on the Star Wars jokes. Hence, Leia’s name. Leia’s middle name is the same as Kitty’s middle name, so nice connection there. Same as Eric’s middle name is the same as Red’s middle name. But where is Donna’s, “You chose Leia as our daughter’s name when I was too hopped up on the epidural during childbirth to disagree”? --Kitty and Red enjoying Eric and Donna’s struggles with parenting = totally in-character (but T7S!Kitty would likely try to intercede at some point). Donna being the disciplinarian (and Eric letting her / encouraging her to be so) is a detail I’ve discussed with a lot of fellow T7S fans over the years. The consensus is that we think this would be in-character. But that Donna pulls a reversal in Leia’s particular circumstance (not only supporting her kid’s choice to stay in Point Place for the summer but also praising her for it) is also in-character. --Eric acting like Red given certain stressors with his kid is another topic I discussed with fellow T7S fans over the years. His reaction to Leia and his foot-in-ass threat is in-character for him as a parent in this circumstance. Red’s reaction to Eric’s reaction is funny and, yeah, in-character. --Eric and Donna’s scene together on the hood of the car is very sweet and has depth. It tells us about Eric’s relationship to Leia, his relationship to Donna, and how Donna trusts Leia. I would’ve liked more Donna/Leia moments so we could learn about their dynamic, but the little we do get gives us an idea. --OK, I LOVE THAT ERIC IS KITTY TO LEIA (in some ways). He tells Leia he loves her without it being a struggle (totally in-character), and the smelling hair payoff (Kitty smelled Eric’s hair earlier in the episode) totally works and shows us how deeply Eric loves his daughter (as do all their interactions in this episode and Eric’s reactions about Leia to other characters). --Dude, Eric called Donna babe. On T7S, Eric never had good pet names for Donna. Never. It was even an on-going joke in one episode of T7S (season 7). Even though Eric calls her babe in this episode, it still sounds weird. It’s just not … Eric. --This ep overdoes Kitty’s infantalization of Eric. On T7S, it’s funny-uncomfortable. This is uncomfortable-cringe. --Red hugs Donna before she and Eric leave. Not Eric. Never Eric. No sign of true connection between Red and Eric at all. Just schadenfreude on Red’s part for Eric’s difficulties with Leia and contention except for Eric’s sarcastic, “I love you, too, Dad.” One moment between Red and Eric to establish their love for each other, like the awkward super-fast hug like I described above would’ve done it. --Donna calls Kitty Mom before leaving the house. Very sweet. But also contrived. This issue could have (and probably would have) been resolved long before now. But TV SHOW. Not real life. --Red’s utter fear at Kelso jumping into the kitchen and shouting, “Burn!”—hilarious but also awful. --Okay, okay … JACKIE IS ALLOWED TO BE EFFING SMART. Kelso: “[Jay]’s got his dad’s looks and his mom’s brains. He got all straight As last year.” T9S erases and cuts up T7S and rearranges what it wants. Jackie’s season-1 characterization of being a good student is returned to her, but so much more is taken away. BETSY would’ve been described the same way by Kelso as Jay. Captain Obvious: It would’ve been more in-character for Jay to be Brooke’s son, not Jackie’s. Brooke is characterized consistently on T7S as highly intelligent. It’s a consistent part of her character. I don’t ask for too much; I ask for what I’ll never get. Speaking of Betsy: does she exist? Will Jay ever mention his sister, who would be seventeen in 1995? --Kurtwood is clearly trying not to break during Kelso and Jackie’s scene. The laugh is being tightly held in. --*sigh* Jackie and Kelso’s second remarriage. At least that wasn’t a surprise. --The Jackie of T9S is who the Jackie of T7S season 4 would have become without ever dating Hyde. Canon-divergence utterly confirmed. --Where do Jackie and Kelso live so that Jay lives in Point Place and has been best friends with Nate for twelve years? Since they were both three or four? Point Place, obviously. Nate is Red and Kitty’s neighbor, which means Jay has been going there for twelve years. Which means Red and Kitty would very likely know who Jay is and that Jay is Jackie and Kelso’s kid. They’d also have seen Jackie and/or Kelso the last twelve years (at least). Make it make sense. --And Jay Kelso just made a sex joke to Kitty. Red: What is wrong with you? He’s a Kelso. --Eric’s Candy Land stash is no longer money. It’s pot. Except Kitty knew Eric hid money in the Candy Land box, so she would’ve checked that thing years ago for anything Eric might’ve left in there.
--Onto the next episode.

Also I think another part of the argument about El’s s1 appearance is specifically that she was described to look like Will. They thought she could possibly have been him with shaved hair. So that’s another thing that I’ve seen bylers use to be like hm…. Interesting
Yes! A lot of us do perceive El resembling Will to be interesting byler proof.
However, I don’t really see it in the way you’re referring to.
I don’t think El resembling Will is what contributed to Mike falling in love/projecting his feelings for Will onto El. I think it serves greater narrative meaning than that.
This amazing post talks about El and Will being linked as foils. And it’s something you can see as important according to the larger storyline as well as how it relates to Mike’s relationship and his conflicting feelings for both of them.
In that way I think El seeming to resemble Will is indication of this idea of them being foils. And in reference to their relationship with Mike, he’s constantly switching between the two, he’s with one whilst apart from the other whether it’s physically or emotionally or both. It conveys a conflicting nature in his feelings for both of them.
However, I don’t see El and Will to be on equal footing to Mike romantically. I believe he’s strongly influenced by heteronormative standards and is somewhat projecting his romantic feelings for Will onto El due to the way Margaret Thatcher has been built up.
When he first met El, he was focused on finding Will, the reason why he was in those woods in the first place because he was desperate and snuck out to find his best friend.
When he found El, she was scared and lost (like Will probably was then and you can’t tell me Mike wasn’t stressing over that) so he took her under his wing. All the parallels and comparisons that could be made between Will and her were all to perfect: in terms of appearance, their passive personalities during the time and on a deeper level certain traumatic events they faced in the past.
I’d argue that I think as El has grown and developed as a character she deeply became separate from who she was in S1 but Mike has become very disconnected from who she’s grown into. As most of her character development happened when she was away from Mike (S2 and 4 physically whereas 3 emotionally she grew as a character with Max) and he never got to know who she’s become (they spent most of S3 making out and fighting then when El moved they did send each other letters but El was lying in most of them so I can’t blame Mike for this).
Their relationship in S1 was also greatly driven by Mike relying on El and her powers to find Will (he lashed out on her at the quarry when Will’s “body” was pulled out only to soften later on when she manipulates the radio or walkie talkie audio to Will singing).
It’s also interesting how many characters show strong concern over Mike’s emotional state due to Will going missing: Karen’s conversation with him whilst El is in the closet, Karen to Joyce when Mike misses school, Nancy to Mike later on - the same isn’t done with Lucas or Dustin to this extent. I understand there’s supposed to be a dual meaning here because a lot of Mike’s behaviour was to do with him hiding El but it makes you think…really think…how it’s pointed out in the show that everyone expected Mike to be acting weird because of Will but then it’s supposedly revealed it’s because of El’s presence. I think things aren’t what they necessarily seem here especially because everything relationship with El relates to Will in a way. He found some sort of comfort in El when Will was absent because let’s be frank here if El hadn’t stepped into Mike’s life he’d be worrying over Will every second onscreen.
El entering his life gave him someone to care for in Will’s absence, I’m not saying El was a stand-in for Will but she was if you consider Mike and Will’s dynamic in S2 - it mirrors Mike and El’s S1 dynamic. I know a lot of people love to say that Mike was projecting missing El onto Will but I’m sorry this is their dynamic and their closeness has been implied before the series started by every other character and the “it was a seven” on its own. If anything, it’s the other way around and it makes the most sense. Even now, in S4, Mike uses El to conceal his worries over Will (it just felt like I lost you and maybe I was worrying over El too much/Mike venting his frustrations of Will not speaking to him in the roller rink using him being a douche to El as an excuse).
Taking care of El seemed to be a coping mechanism for Mike in Will’s absence (when both El and Will are not there, may I remind you he tries to jump off a cliff?) and he seemed to be projecting a lot of his worries over Will onto that too. If you consider heteronormativity and the fact that El was a girl, Mike could be with her the way he could never be with Will. He felt like he fell in love with her then but the question is did he really when we get 3 more seasons of the show where their relationship seems to be a mess and the byler coding grows stronger?
His life started in those woods? Because it felt like it ended when he lost Will and finding El and “falling in love with her” got him through that pain.
But El is not the same girl from S1 anymore. Mike has to realise that she’s grown and developed into her own person whereas sort through his own feelings and how he’s been projecting all of his feelings for Will onto El throughout the series and how messy it has become.
Just to make it clear I don’t think Mike actively realises he’s projecting, it seems to be more of a subconscious experience that makes the most sense according to the narrative in my eyes at least. Unlike Will, he definitely hasn’t unpacked his gayness yet.

re: your anon from yesterday bc im lazy and havent updated my dash, that's why folklore felt so refreshing to me (as a middle school swiftie who lost interest when she went pop and was pulled back in by folklore). by that point she was 4 years into her relationship w joe and started expanding past just writing about public facing stories into creating new worlds and stories to write about. paired w the new genre and much more poetic lyricism (especially compared to lover) it was a breath of fresh air. in the last year or so it's like you said, tired. it's felt like we're moving backwards, we're back to taylor swift's newest relationship and all speculation about that and the last boy she dated being the main thing both we (the culture, in news articles and social media posts) and she (in songwriting) are writing about as if we're back in 2010, or 2012, or 2014, or on and on and on. as if no one learned or grew in these 10 years
i would agree. i, personally, believe there are layers to taylor swift's resurgence in popularity (to the insane extent it is now) and how it got a head start due to folklore. besides it being an album that kinda dropped in the perfect moment where we were all at home and resonated with music like folklore during the pandemic.... and besides it being a pleasant surprise to see taylor step outside of the comfort we all know her music to be with an album that is, largely, considered an indie/folk project.... it was in the songwriting, for me, that ultimately brought me around.
and, during that time i had, had a tumultous relationship with her as a celebrity and as an artist. the rollercoaster i had felt since 1989 with her image and music was fascinating when i look back at it, and Lover is the record that brought be tentatively back into enjoying taylor swift. yet, folklore is the album that sucked me in entirely. and it was because there wasn't any nonsense revolving around the release or the lyricism of the project. it was so detached from her life that you could actually focus on the music and her songwriting without being distracted by easter eggs or references to relationships/controversial songs/lyrics that would be broadcast in the headlines. i felt at ease listening to it and creating my own world and own interpretations out of this universe she spun around both evermore and folklore.
so, i do think that is such an important observation to see as her popularity skyrockets how she is digressing (imo) in her sound and lyricism. almost devolving into what she was beforehand, making pop music which is fun to listen to but really doesn't grip you or keep you coming back around because the lyrical content isn't as rich. i remember when folklore came out, i was on a podcast with a few writers that used to write for the same music publication as me, and we discussed all of this. and the one who wasn't as big of a swift fan previously, really enjoyed folklore because of the difference in pace and her songwriting. then, just last year a group of us in the same publication had a roundtable just to discuss all things taylor swift (from both those who enjoy her and those who don't see the hype), and the conversations touched a lot on this dynamic with her songwriting and the differing of opinions of her since like reputation to folklore to now the second era of overexposure of her with the eras tour and the disappointment a lot of people felt with midnights etc. so!!!
all in all, i agree. i think everything she/her team is doing now feels so dated? like we've been here in this loop before, and i do hope tortured poets surprises us all and makes me shut up, but idk all signs are pointing to the same marketing and sound she did at 21 and 24 and 27. it doesn't feel new. not to quote the girlie herself but i feel like ive seen this movie before and i didn't like the ending lmfao
