Just finished reading the script for The Blue Door (the scrapped TMNT movie that was replaced by Bay’s 2014-2016 movies that I didn’t know existed until about 4 hours ago when I was researching different iterations of Casey Jones on fandom wiki).
It was… interesting.
(Vague spoilers below the cut)
Honestly, it wasn’t even that bad, just a bit creatively written. Plus, there were some dialogue choices, etc. that I personally felt were somewhat OOC for various characters, but maybe that’s just me. I can’t really call the story “weird” without also admitting that the idea of “teenage mutant ninja turtles” is weird, but even in the realm of TMNT, it felt out there. (Granted, I haven’t read any of the comics, so maybe it’s actually not, and my perspective is just biased from the digital TMNT media.)
I will say, though, that I wasn’t really a fan of the ending. No good TMNT iteration should ever end with the turtles splitting up, and I will die on that hill with the fists of my corpse raised against anyone who believes otherwise (there are probably exceptions, but I’ve yet to come across them). And, yeah, it did hint that the turtles would “one day” be reunited, but “one day” ain’t flipping good enough for me.
Also, it never explained why it’s called “The Blue Door”??? At least not that I understood. There was never any significant plot point or item referred to as a door, much less a blue one. Idk, maybe I missed something
Nonetheless, it still had some really cool ideas. I liked the turtles themselves—how we as the audience were introduced to them and who they are, as well as how their characters gradually slotted into the molds that we’ve developed for them from past iterations (eg, how they get their color coded masks (lol, that was pretty good), their dynamics, etc.). Among other things, I especially appreciated the fight scenes and the turtles utilizing their shells for both defensive and offensive techniques (rather than just “oh look at that it’s like I’m made of bulletproof rubber” or “yeah let me use my back to boringly smash this guy against a wall real quick”). I also liked how they used Casey as the primary human/outsider perspective instead of April (don’t worry, April was still a major character). Nothing against her—this just gave the familiar story a new, less explored angle. It was refreshing.
If y’all are interested in reading the script, there’s a free link to it on the fandom wiki page.

Coraline ☆
I want to re-watch Coraline after seeing the many theories about it. I really agree with the theory that she never left the other world. I wonder if they’d ever consider making a sequel that shows what happens after they threw the key into the hole or a prequel that shows Coraline’s life before moving. That’d be crazy either way.

Do people realize how amazing 2023 has been for entertainment? How much talent and passion there was so far?
We had: Barbie, Nimona, Oppenheimer, Super Mario, Elemental, Red, White and Royal Blue, Insidious: The Red Door, Across the Spider-verse, Scream VI, My Adventures with Superman, Heartstopper S2, The Little Mermaid, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Guardians of the Galaxy V3, Skinamarink, Miraculous: Awakening, John Wick: Chapter 4
And we still have Wish, The Creator, Ahsoka, Saw X, Wonka, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Rebel Moon, Loki S2, Five Nights at Freddy's, The Marvels, Dune Part 2, The Continental, A Haunting in Venice, Percy Jackson and the Olympians
2023 has been one of the best years in terms of quality entertainment recently. I don't ever remember being so hyped and amazed and surprised by so many things in a single year.
There are so many amazing things this year, have amazing people as their cast and crew. And those are the people Hollywood wants to fire and replace and not pay. I can't imagine being that fucking stupid.

I love it when women hate men. I love it when women are allowed to vent to each other about how horrible and creepy men are. I love it when women form friendships with and prioritize each other over relationships with men(whether they're attracted to them or not). I love it when women put men dni in their bios and on their nude photos and on posts on their blogs. I love it when women refuse to mollycoddle and accommodate entitled male feelings with "but this doesn't mean I hate all men, I know a few men who are great, I love my father/sons/brothers/uncles/male cousins/guy friends" I love it when women complain about men WITHOUT "not all men" being a disclaimer. I love it when women avoid socializing with/refuse to be around/befriend/get close to men because they know men can't be trusted. I love it when women make "kill all men" jokes. I love it when women offer absolutely no concern or care for men's feelings and if their misandry offends men whatsoever because why should we, men are the oppressor class who have raped and killed and abused us and kept us as subjugated as second-class citizens for millennia, they regularly mistreat us and the women in their own marginalized communities still every single day and make this world so much harder and more awful for us to be in, and if we choose to hate them and not spare them any sympathy then so be it, and I don't just mean "men as a class" either, you can be a woman who doesn't want to have anything to do with any man on an individual basis and completely cuts off men from her personal life too and ykw I will love and fucking support you in that because men deserve absolutely NOTHING from us. If they're so tough and strong then they can handle it just like they can handle being lonely. If you are a woman who hates men, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A LESBIAN AND/OR A TRANS WOMAN, then just know that I love you. I love you, I support you, and you are safe here.
