‘He was the breeze that twinned lovingly around the curl that had escaped Hermione’s bun. Draco slowed, a smile ticked in the corner of his lips. Her lashes fluttered as he whispered the curl across her cheek. […]
Hermione flipped a page, her head bowed in concentration. His heart pounded in his chest, a fatalist patter of defeat. It didn’t make sense. Of all the people, why her.
“But I am a product of everything that came before.” Draco’s voice rough through the emotion that choked his throat, recalling that conversation with Narcissa. “Who am I, if I am the culmination of my teachings? Who is she?”
Willows shrugged. “I won’t pretend to know the workings of what lies between the two of you.”
Draco dropped his head forward, feeling another rise of emotion shudder through his chest.
“But you are you. Your self is your truest form. Everything else is surface dressing. Simply put, it’s the difference between your nature and your nurture,” Willows said. “You and she could live a thousand lives, a thousand different ways, but if you are you, and she is her, then it is in your nature to always choose each other.”
The torrents of winds around them spiked and then fell, as pain keened through Draco’s chest. He knew. He knew somewhere deep down. He had always known.’
The Crownless: Part I - The Fuckening

My personal ‘laudation’ to this exquisitely good fanfic! (And apologies for taking some artistic license over Hermione’s clothes).

Fuckening News
I have a confession.
Currently on Ao3, the chapter count for The Fuckening is 26/28. And whilst I realise that long long chapters are very much on theme, there is just too much to wrap up in the penultimate chapter before the conclusion.
So, because I’ve figured that a 60k chapter might be a tad unreasonable, and that the wait for the end has been a long time coming - I come bearing a compromise.
- I am going to pre-write through to the end, ensuring that the story is completed to the best of my abilities. And instead of one 60+k chapter, you’ll get several shorter* chapters.
- There will be multiple chapters pre-written. So for the first time, the Fuckening will be published on a regular schedule, with a short wait between the plural chapters.
In short it’s going to be a while till the next release whilst I write, and there are going to be more chapters until the end. HOWEVER! Once the end is written, it’ll be published on a quick schedule.
I’m sorry for the delay and the increased time until the conclusion, but I felt that missing information or cramming it into a shorter chapter wouldn’t do the story justice.
Thank you for all your patience throughout this and I hope you enjoy it (eventually).

I got obsessed with @thusatlas‘s “The Crownless” fic and ended up drawing Veela!Draco at 3 in the morning. Also, if you haven’t read that fic yet, what are you even doing with your life?

Weekly Fic Rec
Fic: but in time all the flowers turn to face the sun, @the-crownless-queen
Rating: T rated
Genre: Fix it, found family, wolfstar rises Harry, gender bend, trans Harry Potter.
Word count:  23520, one shot, completed.
Summary: An act of kindness can change a lot. :: In which Harry is a girl and wants to become a Healer, but neither of these really matter as much as the family she builds around herself.
Major CW: Mentions of transphobia and racism (nothing directly portrayed), acculturation issues, mentions of slavery (house elves) and references to prison violence.
Mod Moth thoughts: This fic has brought me so much joy. I don’t usually read Harry-centric fics, and so you should know that Wolfstar is just a side pairing here, but this fic really stole my heart. Harry gets everything she deserves here, without major drama about her journey to come to terms about being trans: it’s just one fact about her, and that’s it. We get to see her beautiful friendship with Ron and Hermione, but also bonding with the girls in the dorms and god, but her relationship with Madam Pomfrey - who’s her mentor here - is absolutely amazing. And while I really, really appreciate adults acting like adults for once here, and really protecting Harry, more than anything what made me fall in love was the rhythm of this fic, the way it flows and works the fanfiction genre by playing with what we already know and what’s new. A fic that had me pacing myself  to read it over a week, because honestly, I just didn’t want to leave this universe.
Read it on AO3!

Of the Devil’s head
Chapter eleven - Hell’s fire couldn’t beat this
Sander’s sides fanfiction
Wordcount: 2851
Ship: prinxiety  (*cracks nuckles* This is going to be fun BJ)
TW: cursing, a bunch of flirting, friendly banter, naked torsos, a lot of flustering and a very shitty-ly described kissing scene. If I’ve missed any, let me know. <3
Summary of the whole story: They say, the one that wears the crown rules all - the living, the dead, the walking, the crawling, the rooted, the sane and the mad. They say, once you own the crown, you become the  most powerful being on Earth and beyond. Roman’s stolen bigger things - a measly little crown won’t present a problem, even if he has to steel it straight off of the devils head!
---------------------------------
Chapter eleven - Hell’s fire couldn’t beat this
“You know, for being the Devil, you aren’t such a though guy.” Roman grinned, holding Virgil a little tighter to himself subconsciously. He knew that was a lie, but couldn’t help but tease.
The demon just chuckled and rolled his eyes. “Oh please. Have you seen my fangs?”
Ro smirked. “Yeah. Sharp and pointy. But don’t make you scary.” that was a lie as well. But it did bring him over to his next point. He’s green eyes got darker, eyelids lowering. “They make you look rather hot.”
A shower run up Virgil’s back at the purr. Yap. Nope. This was not happening. He immediately pushed up, away from the Human and darted out of bed. “I’m gonna go take a shower.” he stammered out.
Roman blinked at the red-faced Devil running around franticly, pulling out drawers left and right. He blinked again, as V pulled out a bunch of different pieces of clothes. He watched as he turned towards him, fabric flying through the air, and he couldn’t watch anymore. His sight was obscured by endless darkness - Virgil managed to hit him square in the face with a shirt. (He had a really good aim when stressed or embarrassed.)
“You need a change too. You can wait until I leave if you wanna shower - I’m not sure what Humans do… Is it like cats? Like, do you lick yourself clean? Because, ew, disgusting. But anyways…” that whole thing was rushed out in one nervous breath, deep voice pitched a lot higher. Cheeks a deeper red then before.  “Shower.” he quipped and slammed the door behind him.
And that’s when Roman just… started laughing. “What? The devil can’t handle a little flirting?”
The demon, redder than Hell’s fire at this point, let his forehead fall against dark wood. Oh, almighty Hades, why did this thief have such power over him? This was unhealthy.
Roman was still laughing his ass off. Lucky he hasn’t fallen off the bed yet, from how he was trashing around. Yeah, he was a complete goner. But at least now he knew how to get the devil flustered! Oh damn it, the demon was cute when red!
And obviously, Virgil could hear it even through the sick lock door. He sighed and threw his close on the closed toilet. “A shower? Really?”
This was getting harder by the shortest passage of time.
What was the point anyways? He didn’t even need to shower! He could just snap his fingers and be done with it! The bathroom was built only because the running water seemed to calm the king down when he was in the midst of a panic attack. Yet he couldn’t think of a better excuse then a dumb shower! He was the Devil for dark’s sake!
“Hades, let’s just get this over with.” he rolled his eyes, and for once, actually got into that shower.
Meanwhile, Roman was still trashing around on the bed, laughing like crazy. It physically hurt at this point.
-
It wasn’t a long shower, but it seemed like forever to both creatures. One laying on bed, still kind of getting over post-laugh giggles and the other wrapping a towel around himself and leaning on the sink. Dark hair dripping purple from the die (he’ll have to touch it up later) and body still glistening from droplets.
Virgil wasn’t really sure what he was going to do now.
there was a man in his bedroom. One he literally slept on top of. A very, very gorgeous man! Infront of who he just completely humiliated himself. How will he now show his face?
The devil glanced into the mirror and bit his lip. Maybe not literally naked - he should really get dressed first. And then worry about facing the liveling.
He grabbed the clothes he threw aside, pulled all the pieces on. Just to find that in his hurry, he threw his own shirt at Roman.
“Shit… This is just great.” he sighed. All his former clothes were long gone, down the laundry drop.
Now. He could just snap his fingers to make a new one appears, or…
The glint was back in all six of the king’s eyes. He grinned to himself, fangs showing. “You mess with me…” he hummed, leaning closer to the mirror fixing his damp hair over his eye. “…I mess with you.”
Roman was on the bed still, trying to get his mind to stop coming back to how cute the demon was with red cheeks when the door creaked open.
He sat up immediately, about to say something snarky to tease the poor Devil, but he didn’t get to that. Mind completely short-circuiting, heart in his throat and words nowhere to find he eyed to exposed torso of the pail demon walking around in front of him. Did this man really not know what effect would this have on Roman?!
Oh, Virgil knew, believe me. He knew very well. Walking out like nothing, half naked with a towel around his neck, hair still wet and droplets of water still glistening on his skin here and there. He didn’t bother to look at the thief. Those holes that were being burned into his torso were enough to go by. And also, the fact he acted oblivious would make Roman even more flustered. That was a bonus.
Don’t get him wrong, it wasn’t like he was so proud of his body. But when you have time on your hands, why not work out, Eliminate at least one of the many insecurities. So yeah, he had a sixpack. Big deal.
Big deal indeed! Roman was dying on that bed! Mouth hanging half open, fully entranced by the beautiful chiseled entity in front of him. And then there was a shirt - again. Muscles moved as the delicious stomach got covered completely, only arms exposed.
The thief shook his head. “Why would you do that?!” he hated how clipped his voice sounded.
Virgil finally looked up at him, fully grinning on the inside. On the outside though, he just bit his lip and blinked innocently. “What?”
“T-that!” Roman moved his hands around rigidly, gesturing at Virgil whole.
“Oh that. I forgot my shirt.”
“Uhm. Yeah, yeah. You just so happen to forget your shirt. And then walk out looking like Michelangelo’s David!”
And that was all Virgil needed. His inner grin reached the poutside, wider and more menacing than ever. He latched onto those words like a lifeline. “Oh, liveling, you think I’m as hot as David?”
Roman’s cheeks grew even redder. “For you, information - I was talking about how pail you look. Not how hot he is.”
“Oh, so you have a thing for statues. Good to know.”
“No! Zeus! You were the one to bring it up!”
“I knew the guy personally; I can say he’s hot. You on the other hand, thiefy, you didn’t. What’s your excuse?”
“Wait, you knew David? How old are you?”
Virgil stopped to think for a second. Well… he didn’t really have an answer to that. “I’m not really sure.”
“Old enough to know him apparently! Man, you’re old!”
“And you apparently have a thing for old folks and stone-carvings.”
Cue offended thief noises. Virgil just snorted, walking towards the Human. “You didn’t deny it. So you admit you have a thing for me?”
“What?! No! You’re too old for me.”
“And you apparently can’t say anything other than old.“
“I’ll let you know! I can do and say a lot of things!”
“But escaping Hell isn’t one of them.”
“Low blow man!” Roman gasped dramatically, hand flying to his chest.
“I’m just saying… I could show you all the good hiding places.” Virgil grinned to himself, fangs showing again. This was way too much fun. The frustrated look the thief wore was priceless. He propped his hands on the mattress, leaning slightly towards Ro. “That way you might actually have a chance to succeed.”
“Hey!” Roman grabbed the first thing he could find and threw it at the crownless king. Hit him perfectly square in the face.
And then Ro remembered that this was still the Devil, he just threw a pillow at.
Oh no…
Virgil blinked. What just happened? He looked down at the pillow that plopped down guiltily between his hands and then back up at the reddening creature. “Did you just… throw a pillow at me?” he frowned in confusion.
The sitting one gulped. “Mayyyyybeee….?” he smiled nervously.
Virgil blinked again with eyes bigger than saucers. He looked back at the pillow.
And he burst out laughing. The low rumbled of baritone climbing under Romans skin like a parasite.
The Human didn’t know what to do! He couldn’t help but watch the creature. Fangs glistening in the dim light, cheeks hiding his already sunken in eyes. He was so adorable.
Virgil looked up just in time to catch Roman averting his eyes. His cheeks were getting pinker than before (which was saying something). And the king couldn’t help but smirk. “Are you blushing, Roman?”
Gods, hearing his name from the devil’s mouth! “What?! No! You must be hallucinating!” Roman turned his face away completely, cheeks getting dark red at this point.
Virgil bit his lip to keep him from grinning (it didn’t help). This was just too funny - watching this helpless human squirm.
“I’m pretty sure you were blushing.” he leaned even closer to Roman, watching him coolly.
“No, I wasn’t!” Ro peeped up, cringing at the sound of his own high-pitched voice.
By now Virgil was a mere breath away from the boiling thief. He bit his lip again, grin loose. Eyes sparkling with a mysterious glit. “Then why are your cheeks red?” he whispered, running his knuckles along Roman’s cheek.
The liveling was speechless. He was pretty sure he swallowed his tongue. “I-I did not notice.”
Virgil’s grin darkened. He could just kiss him right now. Lean in and kiss him right here. No one would know.
He had no idea where this newfound confidence was coming from. Maybe the ages of being alone. Maybe the feeling of this rush. Maybe even the fact that Roman was coming undone under his touch the same way Virgil felt himself fall apart under his.
And maybe it was the whole situation they were in
He didn’t realize he was staring at Romans lips. But Ro did notice. Every time he glanced up from V’s.
Funny how little time these two needed. But Hell was timeless after all. It could have been three days, or even three years Roman was stuck down there. There was no way to tell.
What he could tell though, was that ‘stuck’ was so far off from the way he was feeling down here. With this demon.
Who was looking at him as if he was his last wish.
Roman couldn’t take it anymore. It was now or never.
And suddenly Virgil wasn’t thinking anymore. Instead, he was pulled on top of Roman, pushing him into the pillows. Lips on lips.
Why did it take him so long?
---------------------------------
Why was this so hard?
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it :)
I’ll be back as soon as possible. Big ending’s coming up, so get ready!

9 and 18 for fanfic writer asks ☺️💖
AYESHAAAAA! I’ll gladly answer your questions!!
9. What are your favorite fanfics?
Oof. Difficult one. I have so many fanfics yet to read. I’ve got legit 90 tabs open including most of the group‘s stuff 😬
When it comes to PJO my all-time fave is Immortal Seas by TheseusLives, then of course Torie‘s @percyheartsannabeth ballet oneshot we made a lot of music dancing (you and i).
Other fav fanfics are: From Admist The Darkness by Mrs.PercyJackson3
The Sea Queen‘s Pearl by RicardianScholar Clark-Weasley (wonderful Posally fic!)
A Crown of Golden Leaves by A Crownless Aueen
Just Practice by @knuffled
And of course Lily‘s @ofsongsandstars Seven Sea‘s of Rhye!
I still have to read Liz‘ @nerdylizj Transatlanticism in it’s entirety but from what I’ve seen (and heard!) so far it looks like it could be right up my alley!!
When it comes to Dramione... everything @bex-chan-blog has put out. Isolation is THE fanfic. It’s THE blueprint. Regardless whether you like Harry Potter/Dramione or not. You HAVE to read it. Pretty sure that it makes most PJO fics look rather stinky (sorry). The slow burn. The yearning. The conflict. The emotion. The dialogue. This is really the fanfiction that captivated me and showed me that writing fanfics is doing art.
Other favs are:
Simply Irresistible by bookworm1993
Her Sweet Decadent Smile (and it’s sequel) by thecellarfloor
In the Arms of Her Dragon by Wolf Blossom
Of General Incivility (a P&P adaptation) by attica
18. What is your favorite writing prompt?
I’d have to browse my tags and probably search forever to find the exact prompt. But I remember it was one that was sent in to @writing-prompt-s and it was about a support group and a newbie joined them and introduced themselves and the newbie was Zeus admiring that he’s a sex addict and has a problem and I really really want to write about that scenario oh boy. That prompt made me laugh so hard!
Thanks for asking me! 🥰

Help for mythology Fanfic
I would like to create a fanfic about mythology, it would be named : Human Creatures. This would be about a town which is invaded by mythological and folkloric beings. The thing is that some of the myths and folklore were created to hid the fact that creatures like Medusa weren't killed, these stories teached how to eliminate them. However, over the years, some of them were sick to wait for being killed, instead they found a way to escape and calm cities were often aimed. Nowadays, these paranormal beings lived as mundane citizens or hid themselves. But, an organisation is certain that if they kill "The 12 Formidables", their master will be free. As some of their members arrive in the town, the targets who lived here are now in great danger, or is that the mortals in danger?
The 12 Formidables are:
-The Crownless (King Sisyphus/King Midas/Fisher King. Death=Had to be killed twice.)
-The Unbearable (Medusa/Princesa Moura/Melusine. Death=Had to be decapited.)
-The Secluded (The Missing Link. Death=Had to commit suicide).
-The Lost (The White Rabbit/The White Dragon. Death=As it lives inside the fictional world, bringing it back into the reality will instantly kill it.)
-The Swarm (The Kobolds/The Gremlins/The Mares/The Imps/The Goblins. Death=When their victim reach total happiness, the Swarm dies.).
-The Dilemna (Charybdis and Scylla. Death=Can only be killed in the Strait of Messina.)
-The Wanted (Morgan le Fay/The Wicked Witch of the East. Death=Had to be burned alive.)
-The Ravenous (The Lotophages/The Each-uisces/The Ogres. Death=Had to be starved enough at the point of eating each other.).
-The Seducer (The Jorōgumo/Arachne/A Minnyade. Death=Had to be choked.)
-The Figurehead (Krampus. Death=Had to be killed during Winter.)
-The Offspring (Leshy/The Sylph King/The Other Yggdrasil. Death=Had to have his roots cut.)
-The Chained (Fenrir. Death=Can be killed in any way).
How do I organize this? How all of those characters could met in a single town (except for Charybdis and Scylla).

Where I Get My Inspiration From
or: how to be a ronan and not a kavinsky
In my writing, I myself call some of my plots plagarism. Ideas are outright stolen from other media that already exist, and the end result is something that has a feel of something else.
Why is this not too bad?
Because I don’t put all my own eggs in one basket.
I normally take a snippet of inspiration from three, maybe four different media, and combine many of my own ideas to go with it. In the new story I’m about to start writing, it has a very Raven Cycle feel, with a mysterious forest that’s the root of all magic, and multiple points of view. However, this isn’t a direct carbon copy of something that already exists, (cough cough someone’s selection of white mitsubishis) because I add many other ideas into it. The idea of it being set in New York is from The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey. The atmosphere of the story is very similar to The Infernal Devices. The strange yet trustworthy older woman figure was inspired by Moana. Hell, the characters being street urchins banding together out of necessity is in Oliver Twist, with one of the main characters even being called Nancy.
I get that it feels bad if you realise you’ve taken an idea from something you’ve watched or read already. But as long as you put your own twist on it, with a mix of snippets from things you’ve already seen and your own ideas, then nobody can call it plagarism. After all, how many stories about a boy wizard going to a magical school have you seen in the last decade. They were all borne out of Harry Potter, but some (Magisterium by Cassandra Clare & Holly Black) subvert the idea by having the boy wizard be the villain, and some (Carry On by Rainbow Rowell) combine the ideas of the original book with thoughts from fanfiction to create almost a critique of the original. As long as you’re not doing a book about Barry Snotter who goes to Pigfarts (I think the former is actually in a media that takes the piss, while the last one definitely is, and that’s a whole different kettle of fish altogether,) then you’re safely on the side of taking what already exists and adapting it with some ideas that are there in your mind to make it truly yours. Taking snippets and skeletons of ideas and plots doesn’t make you a Kavinsky. What makes you one, however, is when your story is a carbon copy of another, with nothing original to call your own.
Under the cut is a (probably long, I’m sorry) thing about which media I’ve caught ideas from for my stories.
Reign of the Daemon: a girl can cure illness with song (Tangled); the ending involves faking your death and fleeing to safety (Wicked); every person has a daemon-like figure (His Dark Materials); the aesthetic of the world (A Darker Shade of Magic) a monster-like creature that kills all it comes into contact with (Fantastic Beasts). However, ROTD is set in a fantasy world, not a real one, the creature is the person’s daemon (called Familiar in this story,) and all Familiars are persecuted, not celebrated. The girl who can cure illness can also kill with a scream.
Lazarus House: young adults are tasked to kill one another (The Hunger Games); child abuse is involved (All For The Game); these adults are chosen because they’re special somehow (X-Men); someone shoots someone early in a duel (Hamilton); someone has a broken hand and has to lie about it (All For The Game); someone has a false name to replace their old one (All For The Game). However, LH has the young people locked inside a facility in Wales training to be a spy, the false name was taken out of choice to become stronger, the broken hand was done by a man in authority who was abusing the boy’s brother, the duel was from the shooter’s POV and was a set-up by the villain.
The Snake Charmer: people have the date they will die on their arm (some Justin Timberlake movie idk); there are people who burn themselves alive to make a point (The Great Library); the evil prince is called Cain and his dead brother called Abel (the goddamn bible). However, the people don’t actually die on that day they are murdered by the government, and the burners are allies of the heroes, not tentative enemies. I can’t excuse the bible thing though that’s just rubbish foreshadowing.
Winterlands: ‘the crownless again shall be king’ (Lord of the Rings); ‘who lives who dies who tells your story’ (Hamilton); an abusive relationship is ended by death (The Dream Thieves); there’s a girl who is whimsical and treated as odd (Harry Potter). However, the story is fantasy and does not involve the first secretary treasury of the United States, the relationship is much more sexual and overt than Ronan and Kavinsky and the equivalent to Ronan is nothing like him, and the whole backstory to the crownless is entirely different.
Chronos: not much, aside from a character having a similar personality to Ronan Lynch (The Raven Cycle); and a younger brother dying (The Mortal Instruments). However, the Ronan character is much more morally ambiguous, and the younger brother is not aware of the magical world.
To Love Yourself: one of the main characters was very much based on Baz Pitch (Carry On); and some song lyrics became inspiration for his development (Colours by Halsey). However, the story is a contemporary so Zander is not a vampire and is also not mildly racist and not a wizard, and the equivalent of Simon is less useless and much happier. The lyrics only come into play with there being symbolism with the colour grey.

For you? Anything <3
Fic Writer Ask Game
28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?
I'm shite at deadline pressure and stress. I have plenty of it in my work life, which I tend to keep balanced on a very delicate recipe of caffeine and inventive swearing. So I like to excuse the maladaptive daydreaming for productive escapism and get lost in the story when it comes to writing. But stress and pressure are not conducive to the escapist element of escapism - thus the paradox of being an author in fandom.
With the episodic nature of fic release, it's easy for the rat brain to take over - the rush of dopamine from feedback after a chapter release is an intoxicating hit.
My biggest stressor, however, is I don't like to break a promise, and each WIP is a promise made. So writing pressure is something I've had to have a word with myself about (and by that, I mean moan to my friends until they reorganise my priorities).
Because that's the thing - priorities. I started writing to relieve stress (re: search for the escape), and I continue writing because I enjoy it (re: the escape has not yet been found). I put enough pressure on myself to finish a story, I don't need the added pressure of reader expectations.
I'm a discovery writer with a very busy life - planning is not on the cards for me. I used to get overwhelmed with it all - so I had to place boundaries on my relationship with the fandom.
I will not release an update schedule.
I will not promise to have a fic completed by a certain time.
The comment section is not a safe space for me, it is only for the readers.
If I don't make the promise in the first place, I immediately remove any stress of failing to meet expectations.
I know that some readers only read completed works - and that is something I absolutely understand! Each to their own, we all have our prefered poison. I have so many WIPs at the moment, that from a writer's pov, it would be really easy to just be buried under the pressure of completing them, let alone with outside pressure from readers wanting things completed now/to their liking.
As a fic writer in fandom space, it's fine until discourse turns to Death of the Author, because as someone funnier than me said, 'The Author isn't dead, they're just on Twitter'. So when our maladaptive daydreams are being torn apart like they're classic literature, or as if they were written as a personal attack on a person we have never met a thousand miles away, it's hard to maintain that we write for ourselves when the dejected rat brain is searching for that morsel of dopamine.
When I first started posting my writing, I really struggled with managing expectations and balancing the stress I put upon myself against the pressure that was being placed upon me. But now I am absolutely secure in the knowledge that the chapter will be completed when I've written it; the story will be finished when I'm done.
As for negative comments - I will accept constructive criticism from people I trust. That's it. Fandom has made it abundantly clear that the comment section or any social media platform, is not a safe space for the author. So I made a compromise with the internet - while people think that creators are here for the consumer's entertainment only, they can have free reign over the comment section, over whatever platform they choose to air their thoughts, but I will not listen to them. Their words will only have the value I choose to give them.
I have curated my internet and fandom experience, so I can escape the world when I have a spare hour. I write to keep the promises I've made to the story, everything else is noise. If readers want to join me in my search for escape, then the more the merrier, but don't be a buzz kill.
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.

“He’s antsy,” Harry interrupted, following him at a more sedate pace. “But he does have a point – this is taking too long.”
“Have you found something useful yet?” Draco said, taking a step back; Hermione straightened, filling her chest with a deep breath, soaking in the space she hadn’t realised she’d lost. “A map to their lair?” Draco continued. “A recipe for their sacrificial spell? A roster for their members? Anything at all?”
Nott stopped short, his fists notched on his hips. “The longer we spend pissing about these libraries, the more we may as well just stick a big target on your back advertising your whereabouts.”
Hermione almost laughed at hearing her own words in Nott’s voice.
“It’s almost like people should listen to me,” she said, turning pointedly back to the shelf.
A short low rumble echoed against the marble floors and Draco turned to pace away down the aisle.
Hermione watched as his hands slipped into his pockets when he stopped, his head bowed creating a perfectly taut line of sinew beneath his shirt.
How was this peace? She could reasonably understand how the lack of Voldemort’s presence was a significant improvement on matters, but his life was still being threatened. Everything about him screamed tension, a wire a hair’s breadth from snapping.
Draco’s shoulders heaved as he took a breath, and he turned slightly, his head still bowed, his eyes meeting hers through the white hair that fell over his forehead.
A pull.
A catch in her breath.
She could see the anger brimming just beneath the surface of his carefully curated mask, the glow of the molten mercury burning his gaze. Though he’d made himself smaller, he filled the room, stealing her air, commanding the storm that brewed in her.
A tempest caught in a tailored suit.

Draco Occluding
“He was a study of contrasts: on the one hand, he was poised with sharp, hard lines; the cut of his cheekbones was healthier than when she’d last saw him, but still no less severe; his jawline still as strong against the cords of his long neck. The perfect black of his tailored clothes stood stark against the whiteness of his hair and the paleness of his skin.
He turned away from her to look out the window, his features once more composed. He gave no sign of acknowledging her question as he continued to look out onto Hyde Park.
Hard edges.
Sharp lines.
Black and white.
A single lock of the casually coiffed hair fell down over his forehead, marring the perfect finish.
He was ethereal.”

Chapter 26 - Bad Moon Rising
Harry narrowed his eyes and snatched his hand, entwining his fingers with Theo’s. “No, your attitude is bullshit. Now try properly this time.”
Theo’s lips parted, his senses honing in on where the warmth clasped his hand, spreading tingles of pleasure up his nerves.
“What will you do, if I don’t?” he said, trying for flirtatiousness, even as his heart began to thunder in his chest.
Harry took a step forward, closing the distance between them. “You don’t want to know, Nott.”
Heat bloomed through Theo’s body: a fire ignited, burning him. “I really think I do, Potter.”
