#the irony of it all
Text
Wendy Rush, the wife of missing OceanGate CEO and submersible pilot, is the great-great granddaughter of German-Jewish couple Isidor and Ida Straus, who died in the original Titanic disaster. Isidor, a US congressman and co-owner of Macy’s department store, was among the most wealthy men on board. However, when offered a seat on a lifeboat, Isidor declined, not willing to take space from women and children. Ida refused to leave her husband, and reportedly wrapped her maid in her own fur coat before placing her in the lifeboat. The two were last seen seated on the deck, holding hands. The elderly couple famously depicted in the 1997 film holding each other in bed as their room floods were based off Isidor and Ida.

generator rex reboot is a MUST
for a "kids" show it was ahead of its time, either the rep or writing because in the end its still peak, but how do you come up with such amazing philosophy on humans wanting to be greater than humans, in greed for imortalilty, the balance shatters as a plauge turns humans into monsters, the very opposite of what the wished for, almost like a punihsmment, seperating evos and humans into war through and apocalypse. the disease just so happens to be a fictional version of HeLa cells?? that is so fire dude, scentists thinking they saved rex's life when in reality all they did was set him up for doom. the irony is just so peak, and black knight turning into a demi god where she trades her humanity for immortality?? rex, the nonhuman was more human then she ever wished to be. this show's writing is so genius its so unfair, how do you write a show like that and be okay after it gets canceled. if i dont reboot it in the future consider me dead.

i may have a very complicated relationship with my mother, but the thing is, one part of it i would never change is the fact that she introduced me to some great (and often times not so great for my taste, but still fun and interesting) music.
most important of it all: this woman taught me how to scream queen from the top of my lungs.
i think this in particular says a lot.
like, i was a ten-year-old, just a year into learning english, and i already recognised the first note of i want to break free. i went camping every summer from when i was 12 to when i was 16, and i introduced the kids in the same dorm as me to the euphoria of clapping to the rythm of we will rock you. i danced in the darkness of my room to radio ga-ga during quarantine, because i was scared and confused and ate toast for dinner for two weeks straight since there was nothing else there. i hummed bohemian rhapsody while studying during what i then thought of as the most academically challenging year of my life to keep myself sane in front of calculus. i fell in love for the first time the same year, and i thought of her while listening to good old fashioned lover boy and you're my best friend, because i wasn't able to tell her, so i kept her close to me that way. i went to study in another, unknown city, to live on my own for the very first time, and, inter alia, i put on killer queen, innuendo and don't stop me now, and even i'm in love with my car, to feel like home, a place i never had, because...
i may have a very complicated relationship with my mother, but sometimes my heart thinks that the music we both love will bridge the gap between us. that queen will magically make her arms feel like home, and not somewhere hard and suffocating to be inside of.

Just remembered when i went to see Barbie, at the end of the movie i heard a biiigg group of boys laughing about how women are so sensible and that they made ken a pussy, and that the only time he behaved like a "real man" is when he made kenland, plus, they were making fun of the girls crying at the end of the movie AND saying how the plus size barbie was just "forcing fatphobia" i hate men.

i’ve been thinking about this post by @roobylavender:
Tumblr media
and in general about how much bruce’s kids (maybe besides tim, whose 90s robin series was a whole hannah montana esque thing with being a high schooler and robin) can’t see the divide and importance of having a functional civilian persona. this is of course, mostly a result of them becoming vigilantes as kids, and the fact that bruce failed to realise that his own system and dedication to “normal” life is not really something that was obvious to his kids.
however, i also think it’s extremely interesting to look at how differently it shaped dick and jason. as @roobylavender says, dick has a kind of survivor guilt, but vigilantism is what helps him to push forward and live. and then you have jason, who, against his best wishes and delusional claims about “reclaiming” his trauma, is stuck reliving it, and even adds to a cycle of violence.
either way, it makes sense that both dick’s and jason’s biggest grievance with bruce lies in him maintaining a “real life,” no matter if they themselves understand it or not. for them, this division is completely arbitrary.

I’m sorry, but how are you going to ship Mailee if you consider Mai to be an abusive girlfriend? Btw, that means she would be shitty, condescending, and all that jazz to anyone who she’s in a relationship with. Not that she is anyways.
hi anon, i assume you're genuinely asking this in good faith, so i'll explain my reasons for shipping mailee:
firstly, i don't think mai herself is abusive. i think she is absolutely toxic to and with zuko, and that their relationship is characterized by common patterns of female on male abuse that a lot of popular media tends to dismiss as a joke (like her remark about "never breaking up with me again"). i agree with you that she's shitty, condescending and insensitive – to zuko. that's why i hate mai.ko.
but her dynamic with ty lee? that's completely different.
with ty lee, i don't see the mai that i see with zuko. in their very first scene together, mai allows ty lee to hug her (something that seemed at odds with her cold, distant personality thus far), remembered that ty lee ran off to the circus because "you said it was your calling!" and shows the first flash of uncertainty we'd seen from her. all of this was at odds with the mai that had been established thus far, and it immediately made me intrigued.
mai allows ty lee to hug her again in the chase, and again looks surprised and even a little tender. where zuko and azula tend to mock ty lee just for being herself ("you're not a challenge, you're a tease!"/"circus freak"), mai is the only one who doesn't. to the contrary, she even defends ty lee against zuko in the beach ("zuko, leave her alone!") which is the first time we ever see her stick up for someone else. in fact, mai is the only one to realize why ty lee acts the way she does around boys – because she craves the attention she never got as a child. this is a surprising display of insight and empathy from mai, qualities that she never displays with zuko.
with ty lee, i see the mai that a lot of canon mai.ko shippers tend to insist she is with zuko. i see a character who can show vulnerability, who has surprising depth, who does truly care about something deep down. mai doesn't shut down ty lee when she talks about her feelings, doesn't invalidate her, doesn't misunderstand her. ty lee doesn't want to change who mai is at her core, and betrays azula to save her, overcoming the fear that drove her from her very first episode for mai. even though they don't share much screen time alone, everything i see of mailee shows me two people who understand and care for each other – which is far more than mai.ko gets.
characters aren't inherently toxic just because they have toxic dynamics with certain other characters. kat.aang, for instance, is toxic, but that doesn't mean aang can never have a good relationship with someone else (and indeed i ship him with plenty of others). sometimes certain people just bring out your worst traits, and that's what mai and zuko do with each other – but not what mai and ty lee do.
in real life, you're right to say that abusers are abusive no matter who they're with. abuse is always the fault of the abuser. but this is fiction, and that means that characters can have different dynamics with different characters, because they are not real and so they are not making choices for themselves. nothing about the mai/ty lee dynamic is reminiscent of the mai/zuko dynamic, and that was a purposeful decision made by the writers, because mai.ko was meant to fulfil the narrative purpose of showing why going back to the fire nation was wrong for zuko.
mai is not shitty, condescending or insensitive with ty lee. mai does not need to change who she is with ty lee, as zuko wants her to, and as she would need to in order to be fire lady. the mai that i ship with ty lee is not the mai that is in a relationship with zuko, and that's why i ship mailee.
