Steve and Robin often share a bed, it comes with the territory of being platonic soulmates. But no matter how many times they find themselves sleeping side by side they never sleep back to back.

They can't.

If they sleep back to back Robin will wake in the middle of the night a silent scream on her lips. She'll feel Steve's back pressed against hers. Her brain will ask her if he's still breathing, is his heart still beating, she doesn't know the answer, why doesn't she know the answer, why isn't Steve moving?

They don't sleep back to back because Robin will be back in that room, she'll feel the cut of the binds on her wrist, her legs will feel the cold metal of the chair, her face aching a phantom bruise. Why isn't Steve moving, why isn't he speaking.

Steve?

Please don't be dead.

What did they do to you Steve?

Don't be dead please don't be dead.

Are you breathing Steve?

Steve please please answer me.

Why is your body so still Steve?

Don't be dead.

Why did you go instead of me?

Steve please.

Why Steve?

His body is moving now, wrapping his arms around her tightly, pulling her into him. She can hear his heartbeat now, it's so clear, so alive. She can feel his breathing now,arch it with her own as reality comes back into focus. He's alive.

He'll hold her through the night and every night after that, never turning his body again, never putting her back in that room again.

Alternative Season 3 Stranger Things Plot

Episode 1

The Russians under the mall one day actually succeeds in opening the portal, but it goes sideways and triggers an earthquake, the gateway ripping all the way up into the populated part of the building.

Many people are injured or even killed in the resulting earthquake. Bonus if Billy, Max and some of Billy's school 'yes men' are there, having been spotted and recognized by a member of the party.

When the earthquake hits, the mall is damaged and El is injured during the chaos. Once the shaking stops, the Party members begin making their way out, coming across Max (who is dangling over the edge of a huge chasm since the floor below her gave way) and Robin, who is in full uniform and helping the girl up.

The group approachs the pair, getting Max back on solid ground, before trying to get the two girls to leave with them. Max vehemently refuses and tells them the horrific news that she had been standing near Billy when the floor had collapsed out from under them and that -while she'd been able to catch herself- he had been thrown into a freefall.

While some of the Party members go to a nearby sports shop with Robin to get some rope, a few stay with Max (and a concussed El) glance over the edge of the hole. Will gets a weird feeling and slowly moves over to the edge of the hole in order to peer into the abyss, his eyes widening when he sees a familiar red, fleshy tear where the bottom of the hole should've been.

When the others return, he tells them the terrifying news and the kids try to convince Max to leave with them again cause Billy is most likely dead. However, Max is stubborn and snatches the rope from one of the boys in order to tie it into a wide loop before weighting the end. She ties it to one of the remaining pillars and lowers it down through the pulsating membrane.

It's a tense couple of minutes before the rope goes taunt, Robin readying the hunting knife against the rope just in case something that isn't human attempts to climb out, but then a blood coated hand comes through the gate, followed quickly by the rest of Billy.

Halfway up, he almost loses his grip when the line he was climbing flexes, but he manages to catch himself before stubbornly continuing. A good couple yards below the blond, where the bottom of the rope disappeared, a more sinister figure begins to emerge.

When the kids begin yelling in a panic -telling him to hurry up- Billy's bloodied face twists up into a snarl, but he doesn't stop or look down at the Demogorgon that was below him.

Billy makes it into grabbing distance and the kids quickly take a hold of whatever part of him they can reach to drag him up over the edge and to safety before Robin cuts the rope, sending the creature tumbling back down through the portal.

Billy recovers quickly (not really having the option to stop and process what just happened to him) before they run for the exit (with Billy picking up El when it becomes apparent that she's struggling to keep up). They're close to the shattered glass doors when the screaming started up deeper in the mall, agonized and terrified.

Then a deafening roar erupted from within the building, the ground once again shaking under their feet. Some of the kids fall but are helped back up by those who had managed to remain on their feet.

The kids (with Billy carrying El) rush out of the mall just as Steve roars up to the curb (having showed up for his shift), helping Billy get El into the backseat after the kids pile in. Robin breaks off to find her own vehicle while Billy takes Max and runs to his Camaro which is parked toward the back of the lot.

Will turns to look back at the mall from the backseat, a massive creature bursting through the roof with a screech, its tentacle like limbs turning the rest of the mall into rubble.

El tells Steve to go to Hopper's cabin so that they could call in the calvary, giving him directions through the haze of cotton that seems to be coating the inside of her skull, the other two vehicles following dutifully behind.

They pull up to the edge of the woods and get out, the kids piling out of Steve's car and talking a mile a minute, new theories and plans being suggested and dismissed just as quickly as they scamper off toward the dense treeline.

El takes point to lead the group safely through the woods with Steve, Robin and Billy all lagging behind.

They walk in an awkward silence before Steve breaks it to try and make idle conversation, his attempt falling flat when Robin ignores him and instead asks about what the hell they just witnessed.

Steve explains everything to the best of his ability on the walk and, while Robin is engaging and stopping him every few sentences to ask a question, Billy is dead silent.

The only indication that he was paying attention to Robin and Steve being the way his blank expression briefly flickered with emotion from time to time.

He has yet to utter a single word since he'd escaped the Upside Down, which was highly unusual for the normally unapologetically brash teen.

The three teens reached the cabin right as the kids clamber inside, the lot of them going straight for the phone in the kitchen and crowding around Dustin, who had reached the device first.

You could certainly flesh out the beginning of the episode with some filler and the Party goofing off in the mall or some slice of life stuff to show how the characters are faring like in the canon season 2.

But I wanted to hit the major story beats.

This is admittedly an extremely rough outline and I could stop here, but I can also detail my ideal second episode if people are interested enough.

I just needed to write a plot that does Billy some justice. 😭

Exactlyyy!!!!! The episodes were soooo long and for what!! Immediately jump to 2 days later?? Wheres murray and the guard and how come saddie's mum isnt there wtf and how come no ones thinks that that "earthquake" shouldnt ooze out red lava like gooey stuff lol. Weirdddd

i said “what the fuck” out loud lol that felt lazy af to me. i hope they don’t pull smth like that on S5. like i’m not saying they should’ve done a whole hour of the gang crying over eddie or max’s mom crying on her bedside, but you know,,,, smth hfjhdk pls people in hawkins really dgaf about anything i guess. the mall being destroyed overnight? it happens. the city being split in half? oh well, another funny week in hawkins 😜

so, today we, russian queers, may become "extremists" by decision of russian supreme court and thus our existence will be silenced and erased. any queer activism will be impossible for us. I don't know what to do anymore. I was heartbroken when they passed the laws about "gay propaganda" and transgender people, now I'm just numb. I don't want to escape. I just want to live safely in my own country.

Straight and cis people will say that they are allies, but you will NEVER measure up to my dentist.

Me: "Hey, is it ok if I can change my name on my info from [DEADNAME] to Sai?"

Random woman that I wasn't even talking to in the chair next to me: "Honey, if that's the name you had at birth, [DEADNAME] is your only name."

My dentist, very slowly turning her rolley chair towards the woman: "Shush."

Random woman: "Excuse me?"

Destist: *closes privacy curtain while staring bullets at the lady*

Me: *pissing myself laughing*

My dentist while changing my name in my info (reminder that English is not her first language, she immigrated from Russia): "There, Sai, you have pretty boy teeth. Smile and make all girls swoon."

Me not having the heart to tell her I'm not transmasc but I'm Agender, and still pissing myself laughing: "Thank you [DENTIST NAME]."
